Chiefs WON’T Make The Playoffs & CFP Chaos: Miami Over Notre Dame?! + How To Fix The Playoff
Will Compton and Taylor Lewan recap a wild Week 14 of the NFL with NFL legend and FOX analyst Greg Olsen.
The Boys dive into everything happening around the league, starting with the Kansas City Chiefs losing again and why they will miss the playoffs. They break down Travis Kelce’s costly drop that led to Patrick Mahomes’ three interceptions and talk about why the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen might not be built for the regular season… but are built for the postseason.
Greg Olsen joins the debate on analytics vs. momentum, and the crew recaps the biggest stories and games from Week 14 across the NFL.
Then The Boys shift to the College Football Playoff, reacting to the final bracket and the chaos surrounding it: Notre Dame getting in over Miami, Alabama not dropping after losing to Georgia. Will and Taylor recap calling the SEC Championship for ESPN’s Alt Cast with Josh Pate and Harry Douglas. They also talk about how to fix the CFP — including removing G5 teams and ensuring the 12 best teams always make the field
They wrap up with a discussion on Fernando Mendoza vs. Diego Pavia and who should take home the Heisman Trophy.

Gentleman, let's give a round of plus for the one the only great goal. Sad jumping on the bus yet again on a Monday morning, do a little NFL recap. I know you had probably one of the spiciest games of the week. Do we want to start there? 00:02:15 Speaker 1: We can start there. I do know. I don't want it to go unnoticed that I messaged Greg over the weekend like I'm sitting there and as I'm watching games and trying to process analytical angles or you know, situational football. I shot Greg a text during the Big Ten Championship. Yeah, when it was Ohio State trying to kick a kick in the field goal? What was it the twenty five yard or twenty eight yarder that they shanked to tie it, And it was like late in the fourth or later in the fourth, and I just shot Greg attext like, Hey, I'm just sitting here watching that field goal. I'm thinking of my head, Yeah, you tie the game, but is this one of those situations where you don't tie the game, you try to go for it, because again, all you're doing is giving them three points. They have x amount of time to work with and all it needs a field goal to win the how much time was left on the clock, It was like two minutes, yeah, two minutes and change left. Two minutes and change left, So plenty of time. Because like, yeah, at the end of the day, no matter what, Indiana is just gonna need a field goal to win the game. So if you tie it, they need a field goal. But if you go and go for it on fourth down and eventually score, you're you're challenging them. They're gonna have to get seven on you. So I'm texting Greg, Hey's text back, yes with exclamation points. I'm just letting them know, Hey, I'm trying to learn now. 00:03:24 Speaker 2: So so you're Greg, your answer to Will was, yes, you take the three in that situation. 00:03:28 Speaker 1: No, you go for it. 00:03:29 Speaker 3: No, No, I think they should have went for it. Now Again, it's easy to have that perspective when he misses. 00:03:34 Speaker 2: The kids, no doubt, no doubt. Yeah, Monday's always tough to be like, you should have done this, but we're just. 00:03:39 Speaker 3: About so I always exactly, I always try to not be the hindsight guy right and and always and make a decision. Well, it's if Ryan Day knew the kid was gonna shake it, of course he would have gone for it, like, yeah, right, but I thought beforehand, you got to go for it. Right on paper, you're probably the better team. You're paying bazillions of dollars to the kids. You're big, and you're physical, and you pride yourself on all that. Like, you've got to be able to get short yard situations inside the ten yard line. That's just I don't remember exactly where the ball was, but it was inside the ten. It might have been the eight or nine. I can't remember exactly where the ball was. Yeah, I watching it transpire. College kickers, I don't pretend to know the math of college numbers like I do in the NFL. I don't know what college field goal rates are. I know there's a wild spread between good kickers and bad kickers, much more so than the NFL, where for the most part, everybody's kind of in the same bucket to a degree. So, yeah, that was that was brutal. And then remember in college, you miss a field goal right there and they put the ball in the twenty. So not only did you miss it, but you didn't even have the luxury of Indiana having to snap the ball from inside their own ten yard line because the ball got moved to the twenty. 00:04:56 Speaker 1: Yeah, he says they missed the kick and lost eleven yards of field position. And then Greg on the next drive he hits me and Oha State has to take a time out after that long pass. 00:05:05 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:05:06 Speaker 2: I've noticed a handful of people when there's when they have like a pass over fifteen yards let's say it, and they're all rushing to the ball and there's a new set of downs. Everyone's trying to get hurry up on the ball and you know, run another play. And in my mind, it's like, dude, if you were in a god to have the situation, your first down essentially is the same as if you're running. It was a regular part of the game, like you have first, second, third, and then you're usually gonna punt or do whatever after that. If you're in a god to have the situation, why I would clock it. Like you get a massive pass down the field and you're under a minute fifteen area of inn a minute, It's like, dude, go clock it so you can get everything kind of put together before stuff starts running away from you. 00:05:45 Speaker 3: Yeah, So offensively, when to use timeouts is always a little bit tricky, right, so college rules again being a little bit different because the clock will stop for it. It feels like it stops at a very irregular time, right. You get our first down with under two minutes, and the clock will stop as they move the chains. I don't know if anybody knows. Does it stop for five seconds? I don't know exactly the timeframe. Maybe a college guy could tell me if there's a strict like how long they hold the clock before they reset it or is it dependent on how long the gain is and how long they have to move the ball in the chains. 00:06:19 Speaker 5: I don't I don't know the answer to that. But tip. 00:06:24 Speaker 3: The point Wills making that he tip we texted about. I thought Ohio State needed to start using some of their timeouts on defense. 00:06:31 Speaker 1: Yeah, because Indea popped him on third down past. Yeah, that's the one they threw and they didn't they didn't take a time out. They allowed Indiana to get you know, move. 00:06:43 Speaker 3: You just don't ever want to go down. You always want to use your time general rule of thumb is you want to use your timeouts on defense, and you want to use all of your timeouts either on one side or the other side of the two minute warning. That's kind of like an NFL rule exactly how that applies in college. I don't know all the ins and outs because of the timing differences and whatnot, but that's like. 00:07:03 Speaker 5: Typically in an NFL game, that's the rule of thumbs. 00:07:06 Speaker 3: So if you've already used the timeout with five minutes to go, say, and you've got two remaining, you typically want to use those remaining timeouts if you can on defense, and you want to use them also on the plus side of the two minute What a lot of coaches like, and it goes back into the psychology of all this, is they want to keep those timeouts for under the two minute warning because it gives them this false security that even though we're underneath the two minute warning, I'm still as a defensive player, I'm no longer at the mercy, I can still stop the clock, when in reality, if you would have stopped it on the plus side of the two minute, you actually would have more remaining time set in the event you force to stop and turnover on downs or a punt or whatever. 00:07:47 Speaker 5: But it just feels helpless to. 00:07:50 Speaker 3: Not be able to stop the clock under the two minute warning, which is why a lot of coaches opt to use their timeouts on the bottom side, and that's where they get in trouble because they split their timeouts. But that's a whole different conversation. In that game, Yes, they should have. I thought they should have went for it. Try to take the lead. You're inside the ten, you're the better team, you're big and physical, you pride yourself on all these five stars. Go win the game. And number two using the timeouts on defense, I thought. But at the end of the day, it didn't really have much of an effect. They didn't really have much of a chance there at the end. 00:08:25 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:08:25 Speaker 2: Yeah, I was watching the game last night, the Chiefs versus the Texans, and then the Chiefs they pun it to them. They're around like the thirty thirty five yard line and there's like ten oh four left and it's fourth and one, and they decided to go for it. And that was a moment for me. I was like, I wonder what Greg thinks about the situation because they end up going for on fourth down because they're on their own thirty five. They're on their own thirty five, so it's fourth and one. If you don't get the other team is obvious. They're already in field goal ring, right. Both defenses have been playing incredible, like even though the Chiefs defense is really like in the second half been like way better than they were in the first half. So they go for and fourth to one. Rashi Rice, I think they You know, Mahome does a little bit of magic, does it where she's getting hit as he's the ball is hitting his hands, ends up dropping the ball. It's Houston's ball. And you if you're the coach of the Chiefs and I know and you read, he's an absolute stud. He's at an offensive mindset. He's probably thinking to himself, I got a war with my offense as opposed to a defensive mindset, like Chris Collinsworth was talking about on the broadcast, what would you do in the situation? Are you putting and say, hey, we're incrementally like this is the best move for us to play the field position game at this point? 00:09:32 Speaker 3: Yeah, So I was watching it live and I'll tell you, I'll tell you what I would have said if I was on the broadcast. 00:09:37 Speaker 5: Is that fair? 00:09:38 Speaker 1: Yeah? 00:09:39 Speaker 3: I would have said, the numbers, the analytics, the models, whatever you want. 00:09:44 Speaker 5: To look at. 00:09:45 Speaker 3: That is a go situation, and it was a pretty significant ghost situation. I think the models again, people value them differently between like three and five percent, so a significant win percentage shared in a game where nobody could really. 00:10:01 Speaker 5: Get anything going offensively. 00:10:04 Speaker 3: I think, if I'm calling that game, I'm saying, hey, the numbers tell you to go, and I am a traditionally if it's close, I am, as individual always going to err on the side of going. The better my defense plays, actually, the more willing I am for my offense to take some chances. We can talk about that at a later time, but in that moment, I think, I punt yeah, And that's me as like a guy who really is in on this. 00:10:31 Speaker 5: I see the value. 00:10:32 Speaker 3: I understand giving your offense and your team every opportunity to win the game in regulation, not for us overtime, win the game in regulation, and that is one of the times where I do think the context of the game matters. 00:10:47 Speaker 5: And if they. 00:10:49 Speaker 3: Were ten yards further, if that ball was at the forty instead of the thirty, I'm going for it. My general rule of thumb, especially in a game where the offenses are struggling. So Houston's offense had jack shit in the last four possessions. I think my general rule of thumb is if I give if I fail here and I give you the ball back and you don't gain one yard, it is fourth and ten, can you score on me? 00:11:15 Speaker 5: And if the answer is yes, I'm probably not going to go for. 00:11:18 Speaker 2: It, right, Yeah, because you're looking at how the game is going. You're looking at Moe because you're going to kick. 00:11:24 Speaker 3: You gain zero yards, you kick a field goal, and you did nothing to earn those three points. 00:11:28 Speaker 2: Were essentially giving it to you. Yeah, sorry, go ahead. 00:11:31 Speaker 3: Now, if it was my game and it was the Bengals and the Bills where the final score was thirty, I don't know what it was, thirty thirty eight thirty, it was both teams are over thirty, well into the thirties. 00:11:43 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:11:44 Speaker 3: Here, if I'm calling my game in that situation, I'm going for that one hundred percent of the time. You know why, because whether I punt you the ball or I give you the ball, nobody has proven they can stop anybody. So you're gonna or anyway, I might as well make it a faster. 00:12:02 Speaker 2: Hey, I'm one with you because you're also but what you're talking about right now, is momentum of the game. What's kind of happening. Yes, if you watched that game, they go. 00:12:16 Speaker 5: For the momentum. Best two aspects of the game that wasn't momentum. That's who those teams are. Listen, they are defensive teams. 00:12:25 Speaker 2: First off, I have so much respect for you, so much show that when I'm watching the games, literally you know that is no Well hey, but well let me talk about it. Did you watch it? Did you watch that full game last night? 00:12:39 Speaker 1: Which will game? I watched it, watched the second half. 00:12:41 Speaker 2: Okay, so the second half, so you saw that them go for. 00:12:43 Speaker 1: The fourth and one. 00:12:45 Speaker 2: Up until that point, the Houston Texans had negative three yards total in the second half. They were not They could not move the ball at all. Balls are getting battered down, they were getting tackled in the backfield, sack the whole thing. They were playing awful. The minute they don't get that fourth and one, they run the ball five times and score a touchdown. So that is what we talked about last week where the den they stopped one in the juice that enters that football team boom on Houston side, they're walking in there going Hey, essentially, boys, Hey, we're in a four minute type of situation. Stam bounced, no holdings, no penalties, you know, stay staying in between the tackles, hold the ball two hands. They convert the third down. They end up scoring a touchdown with the special teams running back. The game is over at that point. 00:13:37 Speaker 3: Well it wasn't Overdy had two more possessions and what did he do? 00:13:41 Speaker 5: Well, they dropped four balls, one. 00:13:43 Speaker 2: For I don't disagree like that to me, was and I got. 00:13:46 Speaker 1: The momentum took over. 00:13:47 Speaker 2: The momentum took over of the game. 00:13:50 Speaker 5: It was all moment. 00:13:54 Speaker 2: During the SEC championship broadcast, you remember me talking about Greg, I'm like, Greg's gonna hate this right now, but the momentum is all on the Georgia side we're talking about, dude. That is I know you hate it, but that is truly when a defense is sitting there in the sideline, I swear to God, all of us have done this, whether you and me on offense or will on defense. Something happens on your on the other side, and you're like, fuck man, because you know, no matter what, they're getting points and that is a deflator. You're still gonna play just as hard. But those incremental things that you try to grab right that you were talking about last week, small little wins that equal a victory at the end of the day. Momentum is a factor, and we saw that last night on Sunday Night Football. 00:14:35 Speaker 6: You. 00:14:36 Speaker 3: I'm not debating that we all felt that way. I'm not debating that we've all walked onto the field feeling more confident or feeling better. I'm not saying any of that's not real. All I'm suggesting is it has no bearing on the outcomes of the plays. 00:14:51 Speaker 5: All right, So let's take Thursday night. 00:14:52 Speaker 2: I love it is exactly. This is the Monday I wanted to start. 00:14:56 Speaker 5: With Dallas Detroit. 00:14:58 Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm in the Bahamas with my wife celebrating her fortieth birthday party. 00:15:04 Speaker 1: Happy Birthday. 00:15:05 Speaker 3: We had a great trip. We had a great trip, having a couple of cocktails, having a great time. So I'm like loosely following the game, but like we're at dinner and we're hanging out with friends, so I'm not like sitting there living and dying with it. And all of a sudden my phone starts. I'm getting texts people, are you watching this game? 00:15:24 Speaker 5: Or thinking. 00:15:25 Speaker 3: And the situation was Dallas was down ten on fourth down, and they kicked a field goal to make it. How many score game, guys. 00:15:35 Speaker 2: One score game? 00:15:36 Speaker 5: They made it a one score game. They were juiced. They had all the momentum. 00:15:41 Speaker 2: They had it. 00:15:42 Speaker 5: They had it. 00:15:43 Speaker 3: They took it from a two score game to a one score game. They didn't go for touchdown. They kicked on. 00:15:49 Speaker 5: Hey man, extend the game. Give guys hope. 00:15:52 Speaker 3: Defense is gonna make a stop. Guess what Detroit did on the next drive. 00:15:58 Speaker 1: They went the entire to score a touchdown. I know, but they had all the momentum. 00:16:03 Speaker 5: I know by cutting it to one score. 00:16:06 Speaker 3: I was told by cutting it to one score, if you went for a fourth down and it stayed a two score game, everyone was going to be deflated. But by taking the points, by kicking a short field goal, you gave everyone on that sideline a boost of energy to take the field. I'm not saying they didn't take the field excited. I'm sure the sideline was thrilled that they were down seven with a chance to get the ball back. With the way Dak was playing, I'm not suggesting any of that wasn't real I'm just suggesting it didn't mean jack shit. 00:16:36 Speaker 1: And that's one two where you go for it on fourth down if you're Dallas. A. 00:16:40 Speaker 3: I think you go for it if you're Dallas because the opportunity to cut that thing to three. Knowing my defense is not playing very well all year, let alone that game, my best case is, all right, am I gonna hold him to a three and out punt? 00:16:55 Speaker 5: Unlikely? 00:16:56 Speaker 3: Maybe maybe if I'm motivated enough, But if maybe I can hold him to a field goal. And remember we've had this conversation before. You're up three on me and I'm on defense, You're on offense, and you're up three at the end of the game, are you really excited to try to go up six or are you probably gonna try to score a touchdown or and go for it and remain up three. You're you don't want to kick a field goal to go up six, because that's a whole different conversation. 00:17:25 Speaker 1: No matter what, we're gonna have four downs. 00:17:28 Speaker 2: You'd rather be tied in that situation than even be up six, because then they're gonna be like, we have four downs. Now they're gaining themselves different down, but again. 00:17:37 Speaker 3: They still getting really into the weeds that they took ten to seven, which I was told is the key to all of this. 00:17:45 Speaker 5: Get it to one score. 00:17:47 Speaker 3: Everyone is so motivated and the momentum is so high in your favor, and Detroit went right down and scored a touchdown. 00:17:55 Speaker 5: You were back down ten. 00:17:56 Speaker 2: For what this is? What this is? 00:17:59 Speaker 1: Sixteen minutes is so. 00:18:00 Speaker 2: Not a full sixty minutes, But like whatever point you're on the game, if you're in the second half of the game, it's so important to know you you now as a coach, you know how everything's going. This week or last week. Everybody was talking about Cowboys. Look at that. They get Kenny Clark, they got Quentin Williams. Look much better of their defense? Is who's the linebacker? Logan Wilson. We're buying, and we're buying it. And I said, listen, boys, I'll go with you the Cowboys. I'm gonna let you know. I've done this before. I know how this song and dance goes. So when this game and I the only reason I know is because it's right here. The Lions win forty four to thirty. So at this point in the game, you know your defense as great as they've on all of a sudden become or as at the at the you know, average as, which is great for them. You need to go get the seven. You have to go get the seven in situation because what is the strength of your team. The strength of your team is Dak Prescott and the wide receivers ceed the lamb at this time is out though, But it's it's everything situational. That's what makes football incredible. Now, if we have the same situation and we are the Chiefs and the Texans, I might lean a little bit more on taking three now because it's like, hey, at the end of the day, like I believe my defense can stop them and get that three and out, go for a punt, maybe with something crazy can happen. And then I have Patrick Mahomes. 00:19:15 Speaker 1: Does do you are you? 00:19:16 Speaker 2: Are you buying? Are you buying that at all? 00:19:18 Speaker 5: I'm trying to figure out what yard line they were on? Give me a second. Yeah, when they kicked the field goal. 00:19:25 Speaker 1: The Cowboys, Yeah, well it wasn't short. 00:19:30 Speaker 5: I want to say it was inside the five. 00:19:31 Speaker 1: Hold on, yeah they were. They were fairly close. They were pretty close. 00:19:34 Speaker 2: Oh if you're inside the five, buddy, Like this. 00:19:36 Speaker 3: Is the field goal? They kicked the field goal, uh from the eleven and fourth, fourth and three. 00:19:53 Speaker 5: At the eleven. 00:19:54 Speaker 3: All right, so let me ask, so let's stay with that train of thought about the good defenses. Right, so we'll take the will take the Chiefs Houston game to put them in the exact same context. 00:20:04 Speaker 1: And let's say it's seventeen to seven. 00:20:06 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a low scoring game, ten ten, seventeen seven, whatever it is. It's yeah, seventeen. Well, well, we'll take the exact same situation. Right, let's say it's yeah, seventeen seven. 00:20:17 Speaker 5: Is that what you said? 00:20:17 Speaker 3: I yeah, seventeen seven. Yeah, I'm sorry, seventeen to seven. And I'm whichever team let's say I'm Kansas City because they made the decision you know that everyone didn't like. And they're trailing seventeen to seven. Yeah, and they have the ball fourth and three at the eleven, kicking that field goal to go fourteen to ten. 00:20:37 Speaker 5: I now kick the ball back off to c J. 00:20:39 Speaker 3: Stroud and I give them the ball let's say the thirty five yard line. 00:20:44 Speaker 5: Do you think CJ. 00:20:45 Speaker 3: Stroud or if my defense is dominating the game and my offense is struggling, don't you think I should give my offense the advantage if I'm gonna tip the scales as a coach in and give the advantage. Which the advantage or the short straw? Do you think you should give the advantage to the team that's already really good in this case, your defense and protect them and not? Or do you think you should give you your offense the advantage because you're telling me how good your defense is? 00:21:15 Speaker 2: No, I understand. What do you want your defense to have the advantage? You want to give your offense as much help as possible. 00:21:21 Speaker 3: Yeah, So, if anybody's got to carry the short straw, make it your defense, because I'm told how good they are, and my offense is clearly struggling because we only have seven points in this scenario, give them every chance because I might not get the ball down to the eleven. Ever, again, my best point, my best chance of trying this game might be a fifty yard field goal down three. There's no change going down seven, even if I get a stop. The way this game is gone, there's no guarantee I can even score a touchdown. I've only scored one up. 00:21:51 Speaker 5: Into this point. 00:21:52 Speaker 3: What tells you with the game on the line, you're all of a suddenly going to figure out this Houston defense and with the game on the line, go the length of the field and score. So no matter how you look at it, whether it's a high scoring game, all right, you got to match points, keep your offense, keep them on the field, or it's a low scoring game. 00:22:10 Speaker 5: Hey, my defense is so much better than my offense. 00:22:12 Speaker 3: I need to give my offense all That's what Andy Reid was thinking the other night. Andy Reid was thinking, in a three down possession, I can't crack this Houston defense there, I just I can't get it first down. Yeap, I'm gonna have to use fourth down at some point. What better forget the yard forget the yard line. In his brain, he's saying, if I'm gonna give my offense a chance to sustain a possession, to even kick a field goal, I need to use fourth down because three is clearly not getting it done. I got fourth and one. It's no, it's never gonna get any better than that. Fourth and one in the NFL is like seventy percent conversion rate. 00:22:50 Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you're saying, in a situation where it's seventeen ten, you're still going to go for it because chances of you being down at the eleven again or getting. 00:22:57 Speaker 3: The top seventeen to seven exactly, So situation we're talking about, low scoring, defensive battle. I'm still going for a touchdown because seventeen to seven from the eleven, fourth and three from the eleven. If I kick a field goal there and I even and I get a stop, I get a three and out. Great, that's best case scenario. Do you have a ton of confidence that you're gonna be able to get the ball down there again and score when you haven't really been able to do it the entire game. 00:23:25 Speaker 2: No, that's a good point. Yeah, you know what I'm I'm sitting over here and i know there's supposed to be this debate happening, but I'm kind of I'm seeing where you're coming from. 00:23:33 Speaker 1: Here's the lasting watch all these situations. I'm like trying to figure him out so much differently now, just with Greg coming on each. 00:23:41 Speaker 2: Week, It's like, yeah, he's a person. Life makes you watch the world a little bit different. 00:23:45 Speaker 1: Yeah, and I've enjoyed it. 00:23:47 Speaker 3: Well, I appreciate that, but it's not necessarily like me, I'm not trying to like champion this like crazy, radical new age of thinking. But this is the way that teams are thinking about the game. Andy Reid did not make that decision in a vacuum, in the moment, out of thin air. We're talking about a guy that's played in six Super Bowls. Seven Super Bowls one four aren't going to be a Hall of Fame first ballot. This guy's forgotten more about football than nice Andy Reid. He's forgotten more football than pretty much vast majority of the people that are on earth. And people are just so excited to crush him this morning for that decision. Because we only we only evaluate the outcome if they got a yard and a half there and they went down and kicked the field goal, and let's say they ended up winning the game. There was not going to be one article, one tweet, one radio host, not one personality maybe outside of this show, who was going to go you know why they won because Andy Reid went for it on fourth down and we need to give him a a plus. 00:25:00 Speaker 5: No one was set. 00:25:01 Speaker 3: No one applauds when it works. No one this morning woke up and said, Sean McDermott up by four end of the game instead of kicking a field goal to go up seven and take the point and make it a touchdown game. He went for fourth down because he's got the best player in the world, and Josh Allen scores a touchdown to make it a true two score game and it was over but no one had but if he failed, and Joe Burrow then went down by four, went the length of the field and had a walk off touchdown. Sean McDermott's he's the number one topic of every sports show this morning, and he's getting crushed, but no one's giving him praise for making the right decision. And that's why coaches are so scared to do this, because it's easier to stand at the podium and say kick the field goal, went up seven. Got to do a better job getting a stop in that moment. Well, you didn't get to stop the whole game. Joe Burrow was incredible outside of one pick six that he just threw to the gether. Like, we judge the outcome so evenly because people are so anti this analytics tag that they throw on everything, and I don't even think people know what the hell they're talking about. 00:26:17 Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, no, Yeah, The world of football as we know it is evolving in front of our eyes, and it's taking a lot of time for people to catch up to the thought process of it's no longer about playing field position being conservative, is now about let's define the game right now. When the time to define the game happens, we're going to define it good or bad. We're going to know where we're at after this play. 00:26:37 Speaker 1: And I love I love how you take it to the thought process of the head coach, like the absolute leader, the guy who has all the responsibility and accountability, because you're right, it's like if you kick go up seven, Joe Burrow goes down, ties it or whatever it is. It's like, yeah, we need to do a better job of getting to stop. Like all everything will be essentially on the players. Not that they're blaming the players, but everything's so easy to kind of sit there say we got to do a better job of getting the stop, and then all the the reporters and writers of the world curated to essentially the players not getting the stop. 00:27:08 Speaker 2: They've got to figure Yeah, And it's also what Dan Quinn and Dan Campbell, these are the two that kind of started this whole thing of going for and fourth down and coaches are starting to realize, or the ones that have some a sack are like, Okay, if we're gonna get something done, like it's going to be defined not when it hit zero, but when it's five minutes left in the game. We're gonna know exactly how this outcome is gonna happen. 00:27:29 Speaker 1: And if it doesn't work out, I'll be the one up there. I'll take every fucking. 00:27:32 Speaker 2: Tick, every bullet in the world. Which is a ball to do. 00:27:36 Speaker 3: Do you guys remember two years ago in the playoffs when Dan Campbell when the Lions lost. 00:27:41 Speaker 2: Yep, was the Packers. 00:27:43 Speaker 5: Yeah, the NFC champion. 00:27:45 Speaker 1: I believe NFC Championship because I'm like screaming at the TV saying I don't know why you're not kicking the field goal? 00:27:50 Speaker 5: I should I should. 00:27:52 Speaker 2: Hey, that's big of you to sit there and be like, I know. 00:27:54 Speaker 3: I want to say. It was the forty nine ers in the NFC Championship. 00:27:58 Speaker 1: Yes, and they lost. There's a couple fourth downs where it's like their story. 00:28:02 Speaker 3: I think they went over three. H they at least went over two. He might have went over three. You remember him after the game standing at the podium, and he's an emotional where's his emotions on a sleeve type of a guy. And he's answering and he's standing tall, but you could tell he's crushed. And he stood there and he just ate it and he just took it. And if he says, I'll do it again, and everybody wanted to kill him, right, everybody couldn't believe it. 00:28:32 Speaker 5: You cost your sale seat. 00:28:34 Speaker 3: But when you take a step back, Detroit's not in the NFC Championship without that approach, right. So we were fine with it when they were the greatest story in football, but now all of a sudden it didn't work out. Right, We want to judge the outcome, not the reason why they did it, just the outcome, which is so lazy and it's so easy to sit in hindsight and retrospect and go, man, I was a dumb decision. Well, yeah, you have the luxury of knowing the result. That's not decision making. That's not the world. And has Dan Campbell changed one ounce of his approach since then? 00:29:10 Speaker 1: No? No, do you think. 00:29:12 Speaker 3: He's scared to get up in front of the press conference and answer it again if it doesn't work? 00:29:16 Speaker 1: No? I like it diving into uh where you were touching on earlier the Bengals Bills over there like twenty something points scored in the last few minutes of the game. Bro, How nuts of a game was that? Man, We had the snow going out there, them trying to brush the yard lines off. The numbers like that was when everybody watching at home, that's like, this is football right here. 00:29:42 Speaker 2: You're starting to hear everybody go, we're in playoff football. Yeah, it's our playoffs. This is it, and it's fucking it's awesome to see. 00:29:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, Bengals had a lead and then those last few minutes, man just flipped. 00:29:54 Speaker 2: Which is which is great because I mean you said it earlier. Like Josh Allen, he's the greatest FOOTBA player in the world world. The last four or five weeks, it's kind of been in question a little bit, like he hasn't his wide receiver group. They're not getting a whole lot of separation. He's holding the ball up more. He's not being as dynamic getting down down the field as we saw him win the MVP last year. And then half the game he has in front of you while you're calling it, like, I just that fires me up for Buffalo to be like, oh, that's the same fucking dude, because they're starting to get chattered whisper, Hey, hey, Josh Allen. Is he not saying he's not the guy, but is he having a down year? Is it his fault? Is he the reason? And so watching all unfold, man, it was incredible from your vantage point. Did the Bengals fucked this game up? Or was it just so it was just like Josh Allen and the dominance of the Buffalo Bills that really brought it home. 00:30:43 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:30:43 Speaker 3: I think we saw two really high level quarterbacks just absolutely rip it for four quarters. 00:30:49 Speaker 5: And there was one bad playmate. 00:30:52 Speaker 3: And Joe Burrow had Christian Benford come off the slot and it was a hint it was a run play. 00:30:58 Speaker 5: So we had talked. 00:30:59 Speaker 3: We had talked at the be getting everything that Buffalo is trying to do in the run game is they're gonna use some corner cats, they're gonna use some perimeter pressure from safeties and corners, and they're gonna try to knife you and cause some negative runs. Right, everything's about trying to create negatives on those early downs. So Joe Burrow sees Christian Benford come off the slot and he's pulling the ball and you can see he's trying to get a handle on it to throw like a little inside little lookie, like a little looky dart into the into the void of where the pressure came from off the off the edge, and he just doesn't get a great handle on it, and he kind of pushes it and he doesn't get nearly enough height on it, and he throws it right into the hands of Christian Bedford and he takes it back for a touchdown. Outside of that play, you can't play quarterback better than Joe Burrow and Josh Allen did collectively in a game. 00:31:49 Speaker 5: It was big time froze. 00:31:51 Speaker 3: It was in pressure, it was escapability, it was in the snow accuracy, it was all of it encompassed into one game. And that was an unfortunate play by Burrow, and shit happens, but it was remarkable. And the point about Josh Allen, so we said in our open a lot of talk about James Cook in this run game and the style which looks very different than what it used to look like in the early days of Josh Allen, where he was in the shotgun on every play and he had the ball in his hand on every play, and it was magic and he was Superman for four quarters. The last couple of weeks, to your point, Tailors is you're exactly right. They got very much away from that. Last week two weeks ago against Pittsburgh, Josh was a relative non factor outside of run here and there. It was a heavy, heavy run game with Cook. We sat in our open don't let it fool you. Critical moments, critical downs, third down, goal line, gotta have it, two minute drill, everything's on the line. The ball is going to be in Josh Allen's hand, and he single handedly won the game. He's got a forty something yard scramble touchdown when they were down ten to cut it, then again to play the game. Third and fifteen. Cincinnati is about to get the ball punted back to him down five. They just sacked Josh on second on they sacked him on first down, so it was third and fifteen. They max drop, they only rush four. They don't get to him, and he scrambles untouched for a first down. 00:33:22 Speaker 5: And they taken me and win the game. I mean, he was the. 00:33:24 Speaker 3: Best player on the field, and that's the Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills that were accustomed to seeing and when it mattered most that did feel like a playoff game. Even though one team was eight four one team was four and eight. It had playoff fives, playoff atmosphere, and Josh Allen was the best player on the field. 00:33:41 Speaker 1: You think this Buffalo Bills team's got enough to get to the super Bowl this year? You know, great hates question, I know, but it's like when you go against these legit defenses, no, just in Denver, Like the thing with Buffalo is their inconsistency and kind of the you know, their their weakness is their defense. Yeah, so when you're going up against these these elite defenses that I just mentioned, it's like, you know, do they have enough? Are they going to have enough to get to the super Bowl? Because that's kind of the question with the Bills every year. 00:34:12 Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the advantage in the AFC for all the teams. So I'm gonna answer your question and not answer your question. The answer is yes, right, I think they're good enough, and I think partially is because of Josh Allen and when you have a quarterback like that, especially if Lamar's not in it and Burrow's not in it and Mahomes isn't in it, Like if that all plays out, that those teams are all home for as good as Drake May is. Oh, Nick's like these guys are Drake May could potentially be the MVP. Do any of those AFC teams really scare you? Are you saying, oh my god, how are we going to beat the fifteen win Chiefs? Oh my god, how are we going to beat the thirteen win. 00:34:53 Speaker 5: Ravens? 00:34:54 Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, not really, not really. 00:34:57 Speaker 3: I think any of those AFC teams could be any of those teams. I think the path through the AFC this year is vastly different than it has been the last couple of years, where it was almost a foregone conclusion it was going to come down to some combination of Lamar, Josh Allen, and Mahomes. Right, seemed like everybody else was just playing like fun games, like, yeah, it's really cool that the Texans made it. Oh, it's really cool. But did any of those teams really think that they were going to make a run to the Super Bowl? 00:35:25 Speaker 5: Not really. 00:35:27 Speaker 3: I think every all seven AFC teams that end up making it this year, I think home away whatever. If I was in the AFC, I would not be scared to play any of them. I'm probably not thrilled to play Houston's defense. 00:35:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, they are so good. 00:35:47 Speaker 5: I don't fear. 00:35:48 Speaker 3: All the advantage I have playing against Houston is I'm not like, holy shit, the defense is so good and I got to find a way to score twenty five points. You might be able to beat them by scoring thirteen to seventeen points. 00:36:02 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, because it's not like NFC feels like it's what the NFC West and the Packers. 00:36:08 Speaker 5: NFC is a juggernaut. 00:36:10 Speaker 2: NFC is psychotical. 00:36:11 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, I don't want to throw the Niners out of it at all because of what they've done this year. But so you got the Rams, Seattle, the Niners, and the Packers, I feel like are the ones that are playing high level football. 00:36:23 Speaker 3: Yeah, even though defending Super Bowl champion and the defending Super Bowl champ who yes have been a very weird anomaly as far, still could arguably be the most talented, not the best, but the most talented roster in football who just went on a playoff run last year and won. 00:36:40 Speaker 5: The whole thing. 00:36:41 Speaker 3: And they're like the fifth sixth option out of the NFC, right, now. 00:36:45 Speaker 2: On paper, right, yeah, that is scary. But for Buffalo, to me, it's like, if you run into a team that can run the ball effectively and play good defense, you're you're in trouble. That's where that's you get Bige, that's where we get to right their offense. But like Bo Nicks, Sean Payton and the dever Broncos, I feel like they might be from a playoff standpoint, the most built to play in the playoffs. 00:37:10 Speaker 1: Until the Patriots go down. Man, I like, obviously they've had a weaker schedule when we talk about schedules, and we're gonna get see it this weekend when it's Buffalo Patriots round two now. 00:37:20 Speaker 2: But the thing that I don't know who I was listening to on the drive is Coward. He was talking about the Patriots and he's like, yeah, but they they are not like really great at wearing the football. They're great throwing the football, which is I know, great. Trust me, I'm gonna I'll land this plan to where we can both agree. But when you get into the playoffs and you're playing in the stadiums in January, when it's open that the weather is different, it's freezing outside wind everywhere snow, it's now more difficult to throw the ball down the field the way that the Patriots have. It's like you have elements playing against you along with the defense as well. That's what makes me worried for the Patriots, because you're right, like the best team in the AFC right now is clearly the Patriots. 00:38:00 Speaker 3: Oh, I agree with. I don't disagree or pushback on anything. You just say, playoff football the formula for playing good offense. You know, just winning in the playoffs is very different than winning in the regular season. 00:38:12 Speaker 2: You've said that a few times on the show. 00:38:13 Speaker 3: So as I sit here and talk about the value of the passing game and scoring points and all that in the regular season. 00:38:20 Speaker 5: Yes, when you look at the best. 00:38:22 Speaker 3: Teams year in and you're out, there's always going to be a couple that are like top five defenses and like middle of the road to bottom half offenses. The vast majority of the teams in the playoffs every year are going to find themselves in like the top ten of offense. Different years. There's different anomalies, but over large periods of times it's an offensive driven playoff picture. And then there's the couple wrinkles when you get to the playoffs and all the crappy teams are home, and we're only left with teams that are for the most part good at offense. They're probably have a good quarterback, there's probably some element of a passing game. Now, what is the differentiating factor to weed out the remaining teams? Run game defense, special teams, clock management, end of game strategy like, that's where all those things carry even a bigger significant So no, I don't push back on any of that. I think running them. I think the way Josh. I think the way the Bills are built. While they're nine and four in the regular season and people are going, what's wrong with the Bills. We're used to them having thirteen wins, I actually think a worse regular season record as a result of the way they're playing, I actually think bodes better for them come playoff time because they don't need a hero performance every single minute in every play from Josh Allen. And that's been their problem in the years past. 00:39:46 Speaker 2: The thing that going to the other team that just played the Bengals, you know, those things obviously out of the controllables are like Joe Burrow every year he's getting hurt, and you kind of go back to the after his first season when he tore his ACL and they're like, they have a top five pick, they should take an offensive lineman. They name taking Jamar Chase, which is you know, obviously played out extremely well, but every year he's getting hurt. He's three and one this year as a quarterback, and their defense is terrible. Like, as you're watching the game and just from your football brain seeing everything on the field, how far off is that defense and is that offensive line from being like, Okay, we can now start looking at the Bengals again as a team that we need to throw in the AFC consistently, because every preseason it's like, oh, yeah, these are the guys and you less enough the quarterback and Joe Burrow's clearly in there, but then it's always an injury that takes place, and look how shitty their defense is. 00:40:34 Speaker 3: Yeah, so I think offensively, I'm not saying the offensive line is great. They're average to blow average as a group, but quarterbacks elevate the ceiling of an offense and offensive line. 00:40:48 Speaker 5: Elevate the floor. 00:40:49 Speaker 3: Right, So the better your offensive line is, you just build up. Okay, we're at least as good as this, whatever that level is. But when you have a quarterback and you have Jamar Chase and t Higgins was great yesterday, and you have all this skill and the ability to score, you can outplay your offensive line. You can play above and beyond what they're capable of. I think the year that they went to the Super Bowl, wasn't he sacked like. 00:41:14 Speaker 5: Seventy times? Yea, the most you sacked one hundred times in that game. 00:41:19 Speaker 2: But that game came down to Aaron Donnald. 00:41:21 Speaker 3: Couldn't protect the passer because Aaron Donald, who was an animal. So I say all of that to say, offensively, I think they're fine. Now you're paying a ton of money to offensive skill players, and that's gonna come at the demise of something else. Right, You're gonna have to draft really, really well. You're gonna have to win. You draft offensive lineman, defensive lineman. You're gonna have to play a lot of young players because you need some cheap contracts to offset the really expensive guys. And that's the nature of anybody who's paid a top, top of the market quarterback, and that's anybody that has multiple highly paid offensive or defensive players but traditionally offensively, So it really puts a ton of stress on your draft picks and those young d linemen and those young linebackers that Cincinnati right now has in the lineup, how fast and how good can they be? Because again, they don't need to be the Houston Texans defense. They don't need to hold people to fourteen points a game. If they could, it's kind of along the lines of like Dallas, right, So I kind of look at them at the same portion. If they could keep their offense exactly where it is and just get middle of the road, be the sixteenth, the eighteenth, the twentieth rank defense ind points per game, you're gonna win a lot of games, but you can't be scoring thirty and give up thirty two. And that's Dallas, that's Cincinnati. So I think that's all of their resources going forward have to be put on the defensive side of the ball. And that's easier said than done because it's gonna mostly come through the draft, and you better draft really well because those guys are gonna play, and if they don't play, you got no shot because you missed on your draft picks and all your cheap assets aren't good enough to elevate the game and you just it's gonna be what they have. 00:43:07 Speaker 1: Now, we interrupt this episode of Bust with the Boys and Greg Olsen to talk about your work Below the belt. I'm not ready to sneaky sneak sak in the AFC. Trevor, like, the offense is playing better. Obviously that'll be kind of the question mark going into the playoffs. But they have what the number one run defense in football right now, they're top, they're up there. Jaguars are up there defensively stopping the run. But Jaguars can be spicy in the playoffs. 00:46:34 Speaker 2: Greg, Yeah, they play. 00:46:36 Speaker 3: Yeah, And it goes back to our previous conversation. I think every single team in the AFC playoff picture enters the playoffs and going this thing runs through us. 00:46:45 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Man, heart goes out to Danny Dimes, Daniel Jones, bro like I when he's hitting the ground and you're hearing that it's an achilles, Like, I felt so fucking bad for him. And that's just where the thought goes into my mind, where it's like admiration and playing honorably does not eventually get you paid. Because he's out there playing on a fractured fibula, like he's tough, He's got this story. I personally like, as competitors, you just love to see this quarterback. He's got something going on, but he's trying to make it happen because the Colts have a real shot this year. And then to go out there and see it go down like that and he ruptures his achilles, knowing that this's got it's a compensation, like just knowing that all that played into it, and you just see the emotion I am pounding the ground. He's on a you know, basically a prove it contract this year. He was proving it this year and to go down like that with an achilles injury, you know it's going to be part of the entire situation when he gets paid next to. 00:47:44 Speaker 2: A huge part of it, like tens of millions of dollars. Yeah, especially in the quarterback room. The good thing, let's play this whole thing out. The good thing for Danny Dimes is they trade away their first round pick to acquire Sauce Gardner. 00:47:57 Speaker 1: Correct. 00:47:58 Speaker 2: So by making that decision, you're saying, you're telling the rest of the NFL, Okay, we are going for a Super Bowl this year. That's that's what you're telling the rest of us. But what you're also doing is you're giving all the leverage to Daniel Jones and saying you've proven enough to be our quarterback of the future. We want you to be our guy. We want you to be our guy so much that weird, we're gonna take this first round pick we have, We're throwing out the window. We don't have to worry about a quarterback at all in the drafting more because you're our guy. 00:48:23 Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna get a defensive piece. 00:48:24 Speaker 2: Yeah, now the situation happens, he's I still believe. I think he's gonna be a cult next year. I think he's gonna have one hundred million dollar contracts. Probably he probably have a similar contract to Sam Donald. It's not gonna be insane like you see like the mahomes lamar As all those guys. But you're gonna get yourself. You know, one hundred and ten, one hundred and twenty probably could have been one to fifty. Stopped me. If you guys think I'm wrong at all. 00:48:45 Speaker 1: I don't know all the I don't know all of the contractual stuff with like I'll say the top ten to fifteen guys. I think, dude, some dads are making like but bro, yeah, I don't you say Sam Donald. I'm like, yeah, I don't know if it's gonna be a Sam Donald. Like Sam Donald still went he went like what fourteen and two last year or whatever the numbers were, Like, had a tough playoff game, but he still went off and got broke off because he played really well and finished like statistically, he was one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. Daniel Jones was for the first half of the season, had a couple shaky last coupleys because he's playing on a fractured fibula, a fractured leg, goes down with an achilles injury, which is one of the worst injuries to have as a player. Like I don't see him, I see them trying to figure out a way to take care of him and everything else. But make no mistake, they will be using that against him. To no doubt, he will not even come close to what he could have gotten paid. 00:49:34 Speaker 2: As we all sit here as all washed up athletes, I love your opinion on this. Obviously, there was a time when you were playing. You have an injury and it's not your hurt. You have an actual injury where it's like this could long term hurt you, and you put the helmet on, you decide to play. All those times you did that, all of the times you did that, like, did it ever? Do you think it paid off? Do you think it's worth going out there being tough for your team, doing all the things that were a brainwashed as a kid, like toughness. You have to be tough no matter what, all the things. Do you think it's really worth that? Or the world we live in now we have to understand how much of a business it actually is. And maybe these old heads that were talking to us when we first got in the league, they were right all along. 00:50:15 Speaker 5: It's a great question, and I sit here now my answer is, of course it was worth it. 00:50:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, right, Like. 00:50:21 Speaker 3: I think learning how to play through injury, and learning how to play hurt and learning how to never feel great, I think that's a learned skill. I think you have to learn. I used to tell young guys all the time. Before you're able to play with a sprained ankle, you better be able to practice with a sprained ankle. By the time you play with a shoulder that's feeling crappy in the game, you better see what that what that shoulder feels like on Wednesday, and figure out how to get yourself moved and shaken and what break. There's an art to playing for long periods of time. There's an art to not missing games. People always say, oh, man, you've been so lucky with injuries. Yes, you're lucky that you don't get catastrophic injuries, right you break your leg, tear your ac l, blow your achilles, shoulder like, there's some there's some injuries that are just unavoidable and you just can'n't care how tough you are, you just can't play through them. But there's a lot of games missed by guys where I would argue they can play through them. The art of learning how to do that is very different. Now I had the ability, and. 00:51:21 Speaker 1: It's all very long time. It's all very gray, subjective, like, yeah, you don't know and you don't know how this guy feels. 00:51:27 Speaker 3: Yeah, if every time I didn't feel good, and if every time I woke up not feeling my best, or every time I put on my cleats and my foot was sore and my ankle was sore and my head felt a little groggy, or if every time that happened I went to the trainer and got put into some sort of rehab process, I would have played five years. 00:51:46 Speaker 1: Yeah, so. 00:51:50 Speaker 3: There's an element of luck. There's an element of preparation, right what you do to your body. There, it's not a coincidence that some guys do some guys don't get hurt. I think there are some elements of it guys control. I think there's some elements that are completely out of your control. I do think there's a third element that guys are scared to really talk about that. I think you got to just learn how to play with shit, and there's an art to it. If I told you the amount of things I've had injected, not with pain killers, but like we've all had tourtal, we've all had anti courtizone, anti inflammator, Like we've all done it. At least I'll raise my hand. 00:52:30 Speaker 5: And say I've done. 00:52:33 Speaker 2: Every single game I never had. 00:52:35 Speaker 3: Now, I'll be clear, I've never had pain killers. I've never played a game on pain killers. I'm not judging people who have. I was in a different era early in my career. Guys were still doing like DMSO and it was a little bit different. That kind of went away with the new CBA and all that. But like, I never played a game on pain killers. I was never given painkillers. After my couple surgeries. I never even took them, Like I stayed away from pain killers. But I've had corterzone shots in almost every joint in my body. I've had back injections where on Fridays I couldn't stand up. I'd have back injections and play on Sunday, Like that's the reality of the game. And I wouldn't do it any different if I had to go back. But I also had the luxury of playing fourteen years and I went ten years without missing a game. I was very lucky in that sense. But I also played a lot of games where I was not healthy. I played games with broken elbows in a big ass brace, and I played games with a broken like you just do what you gotta do to play, and I don't regret any of it. 00:53:33 Speaker 1: Yeah, it is all very situational. Luck does come into the equation a lot, like it's it's like I'm proud that, Like I had a Grade two PCL that I had torn and I got PCL's the worst and I was back like I was, you know, I was absolutely everything I possibly could to get back, and I was back on the practice field like eight or nine days was able to I missed one game. It was actually against Carolina. When you guys came to town in like twenty sixteen. 00:53:57 Speaker 2: Or something like greg Olson on the list, he was scared. Yeah, oh yeah, buddy, I hear you know what to be an honest coach, not this week. 00:54:09 Speaker 1: And you know I was in a spot too where I was on a what is it called when you were not a restricted I was an exclusive rights free agent that year. Since I had a practice squad year and another credited season didn't count toward my free agency, they had me on an exclusive rights free agency deal. And then the next year I was going to be a restricted free agent. And you're hopeful that they're going to admire your willingness to fight and get back on the field and hopefully it gets you on the back end. But playing those the rest of the season on a torn PCL, it's like there there's one play against New York where we're on a win and in game and Eli Manning hits put the old index fingers together, I know what plays coming. They're doing a three flat screen. I'm mugged up in the a gap. I tell Mason Foster, hey, you run the blitz. I'll take the coverage in this assignment. Whenever we identify where their block of protection. I see ELI do this. I'm coming as a three player. I'm gonna be the one that chases this three flat screen. I couldn't break down good enough. I missed the tackle damn win in the game. That's weighed on my mind forever because I look back and like, because I'm playing on the torn PCL, you're hoping it pays off for you. They get you in an undrafted restricted rights for agent. Like it doesn't. It didn't work out for me that way. But then I think about when I was trying to make the team on practice squad my rookie year, and I have a torn hamstring and I'm just like, Okay, Keenan Robinson has a torn pack, he's out for the year. He's on IR. Jeremy Kimbro the guy in front of me, he just tore his hamstring like fully. 00:55:32 Speaker 2: Grade three off the bone. He's out. 00:55:35 Speaker 1: It's my time to run with the twos. I had caught a Grade two of my upper like right below my ass and it was fucking painful. But if I don't go out there and play, I never even play in the NFL. So to me, it's like there is this I guess, like skill or whatever you want to call it. Then there's these unlucky situations where you think back on it's like, damn, I shouldn't have played on that torn PCL. But all of my entire mentality I'm playing with injury. It's like I probably would have never even been in that position anyway. Yeah, so it is it's like, uh, what is it? Is this a phrase where you used to catch twenty two? I never even understood. Don't your career? It's like, I see what. 00:56:15 Speaker 3: It made your career? Yes, and then others my biggest regret. So I say all of this that I don't have regrets. 00:56:22 Speaker 5: I guess I do have one. Two thousand and seven. 00:56:25 Speaker 3: So I went from two thousand and seven to two thousand and seventeen and I never missed a game. Twenty seventeen, Week two, I break my foot at home, maybe against Dallas. I don't remember who it was, but it was our first home game. I broke my foot. I broke my fifth metatarsal. 00:56:45 Speaker 1: Yep. 00:56:45 Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's a bit of an injury. 00:56:48 Speaker 3: I have two scenarios. We we thought we had a really good team and throughout we were winning. And so there's two scenarios. You can go in and get a screw put in and it's like a six to eight week recovery, which I'm always like, oh, I'm gonna be five right, like we all think. 00:57:04 Speaker 5: We all play that game. 00:57:06 Speaker 3: Or you can go in and you can get the screw and a bone graph, and you're out for the whole season. So in my mind, I'm like, well, that's not Why would I ever you tell me six to eight weeks. 00:57:18 Speaker 5: I'm doing six to eight weeks. Why would I do three months and miss. 00:57:20 Speaker 1: The whole season. 00:57:21 Speaker 3: Yeah, So I go, I get the bone graph, I rehab like crazy, and I come back and we make the playoffs. I wasn't particularly great movement wise, but I was good enough to play the rest of the year and finish the season. We lost in the playoffs, but I was like it was worth coming back to finish the year with the guys, Right, I go all off season, no issues with my foot feeling better, better, better. First game of two thousand and eighteen, I rebreak my foot, same foot, same foot. I cracked so the pit the screw held, I cracked the bone on top and bottom but the bone was held together by this screw that was put in a year ago. 00:58:02 Speaker 5: So I missed the next like three games. 00:58:04 Speaker 3: But they tell me, as long as the bone holds, as long as once it breaks all the way through, you're gonna have to get surgery. Anyway, you could try to play through this. Well, we do everything in our power to get the bone to heel, bone stimulators, you name it. And I come back and through my rehab process, I get planner. 00:58:21 Speaker 5: Fashiet is. 00:58:23 Speaker 3: I'm playing down in Tampa and my planner explodes. It's like I stepped on a hand grenade. So I'm done now, seasons lost. I go now have a second surgery on that foot. Bone graph fix it. That foot never felt better. I developed some other foots compensation stuff on the other leg. Long story short. If I would have gotten the bone graph initially and missed all of the twenty seventeen season and just bag that, I think I played the entire eighteen without missing time. I played the entire nineteen and maybe I played longer. Maybe the last three years of my career. I'm more productive. I'm better right, who knows. 00:59:05 Speaker 5: But in the moment, there was no telling me to do the longer surgery to like worry about myself and not come make a playoff run like that never even that never was even an option. 00:59:18 Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, man, when they kind of put these things in front of you. In twenty sixteen, we were playing the Indianapolis Colts at the Colts and this is this is the first year I made my first Pro Bowl, and I was I think, we're like halfway through the season and I'm kind of greg I'm on like a little bit of a tear, like no sacks giving me Jack Clonkin as well, like Jack had like maybe one sack or like even no sacks as well. But we're like in the eighth week and it's like they're starting now. We whispers like we're turning around. Where we went from three to thirteen, now we're going there. We end up being nine and seven. It's like, oh fuck, like this is a real possibility. My team is gonna be like, you can make the Pro Bowl this year. You're playing like that, So this is like all my mind. We're playing the Colts. We slide the protection to the right, so I go from being man on this guy they have seven up and Marcus goes, hey, we're sliding all the way right. So I go and I take over the four I and I have him into Marco. Murray cuts the edmin on the line of scrimmage into my left leg, hyper extends my leg and so I hear like a crack and I like lay there and I'm like, no, is this what it's like to tear your a cl And they come up. Doctor comes up, does the thing and he goes, hey, we think you tore your a cl. We think you're done for the year. We'll have to do em Ara on it. I'm you know, I get in the blue tent, we go in the locker and I'm like this, there's no fucking way that this is how it ends. I end up getting the MRI and there's like what, I don't know what whatever bone, this one is the big one. I have like a crack down it and they're like, hey, you good news. Bad news. Good news is this bone has a hairline fracture down it. The bad oh no, that's the badness. The good news is your ACL is your aco is actually intact. 01:00:50 Speaker 1: It's fine. 01:00:51 Speaker 2: Maybe to take a couple of weeks off. Let's get this. Let's get this bone to heal. Up just fine, and then we know we can go through this here, and I'm like, there's no fucking way. We played the Bears next week and you talked about never did pain pills or anything like that. I never took pain pills during a game. But from week like eight to like I think we got into the wild card that every Monday through Saturday, it was popping a couple Sundays. I felt too uncomfortable to take anything like that because I wanted to have my wits about me. But it was do as much as you possibly can, and it ends up working out that way where it's like, all right, made the Pro Bowl. But like that detalks after when the season's over. I guys don't talk about that enough where it's like you, yeah, you put yourself in that position. I'm a I got four or five days where I'm like legitimate withdrawals of like shaking, uncomfortable and it just it sucks. But you you go back to it and you're like, I'm so proud I did that, because if there's a piece of you, like week twelve, when the boys are like I'm feeling this way, like you know you're gonna be like you know, I got like a hairline fracture. I'm playing on a broke I'm playing on a broken leg, like at. 01:01:55 Speaker 5: The end of the year. By the end of the year, it's a compound fracture. 01:01:57 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and you're just yeah exactly, it's like, oh, you you you rolled your ankle. That's cool. My leg's broken and I'm in it's been broken for six seven weeks. But yeah, you go ahead if you want to play, it's fine. 01:02:11 Speaker 1: Yeah, you kind of take that. You kind of just take that risk. Man. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it's again, it's like Danny when I heard that he had the like a fracture, he was playing on a fracture fibula. The p ATSD in my brain is I had before I had my broken fifth minute tarsal. 01:02:25 Speaker 7: Greg. 01:02:25 Speaker 1: It was at Nebraska and we were in this big time linebacker competition with a few of us in the same class. This is Levante David's first year as well. He's making splash plays. And I had a hairline on my on my foot when I got X rays and it was like, hey, you could miss the opening week of the season. I was slated to be the starter. So on my head, I'm like, you know, you can't not be on the field or on the practice field and let other guys get opportunity because somebody might when it's close, because they could take it over. And so I go out there in the next week of practice. It was the Thursday kind of like a jog through. It was just helmets before the first before the opening game of the season, and it's just a guy jogs and runs a stick route. I plant below my fifth menataur soul. I have to get the pin put in it. I'm out, I think seven weeks, come back for the Texas game. But by the time I come back from my broken foot with now a pin in it. Lavonte David is Levante, the lavalante Dave is now that we've seen in the league that's played forever. He comes out first game, has thirteen tackles, blow somebody up over the middle. I'm up there on a scooter watching from the press box, just thinking, Yeah, this job ain't gonna be here when I get back. 01:03:31 Speaker 2: That the worst feeling. 01:03:32 Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's Lavante was such a stud. You just kind of you might have these arguments in your head of you know, if coaches might be feeling a guy, But hey, I know I'm playing better than this guy. That was one where it's like Leavonte, the way he slipped through blocks and everything else. Him being undersized, It didn't matter the dude. The tape kind of spoke for itself, and it's one you can't really just kind of you know what, rolling situations? Am I going to get to play some ball? 01:03:56 Speaker 2: Yeah? 01:03:56 Speaker 1: You know what I mean? 01:03:58 Speaker 2: I didn't even know if you get hurt. 01:03:59 Speaker 1: But the fifth meta tarsl sucks man with the pen the worst. 01:04:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, I know we're right end of my career. I know we got to get out of here before we got rock Tampa Bay lose the Saints. I looked at that game and I was like, I'm not even gonna watch. Just look down at the ship. I'm like, holy shit, they the Saints one. 01:04:16 Speaker 1: Yeah. 01:04:17 Speaker 2: And so now like your Panthers are right there, they're tired, they shot. You think they're gonna pull it off. 01:04:23 Speaker 5: Against it. 01:04:24 Speaker 3: They got two games, they got to two of their last four against Tampa. They got two against Tampa Heart a tough game against Seattle and against New Orleans this week. 01:04:32 Speaker 5: So it's in there. It's in their hands. 01:04:35 Speaker 1: Greg, you're the man, bro, thank you for appreciate you guys for joining the boys. Uh, see you again next week and I'll be watching ball all situations when I'm gonna be texting me in to text you text me. 01:04:44 Speaker 2: See you, brother. 01:04:45 Speaker 5: I appreciate you. 01:04:48 Speaker 2: I love that dude. What a fucking guy. Just just a good thirty minutes for all the viewers out there listening who want a football recap, just hearing me Will and Greg talk about how tough we were at one point in our lives. Are you hurt or are you injured? And we didn't get to talk about this dude, But I feel like the true path of an athlete, like being a true athlete, is the ability to compensate, Like you can be fast, strong, quick, all those things, but it's when these like issues happened in the foot and body, like Greg brought it up, like when he had that fifth minute to tars for the second time he had other compensation issues. Great athletes have the ability to like compensate when other things aren't working the way they're supposed to do it. So it's just I. 01:05:26 Speaker 1: Appreciate that shout out, man, Yeah, I mean back in my second I don't even know how many injuries. How many times I've been under the under the scope. 01:05:35 Speaker 2: Did you see, Jordan, you had five surgeries in college? 01:05:37 Speaker 1: Yeah, so my freshman, my red shirt year, my right laborm. That's when I called the twelve anchors. I broke my foot. I had a paranial ten and removed. I had to get a paranial tenant removed in my left ankle. So both feet had been under the microscope. Uh pro day. Right after the pro day, I had to fly to Europe and I had a sports arn. You tore my PCL that never got fixed, never had to fix that. I want to say, that's one that you can kind of avoid. Like Troy palmlu I believe playing on the torn PCL, and you know, he was a He's an absolute monster. But the torn PCL, I think that's I believe that's it. Oh yeah. And then Liz Frank Liz frankfore I came to Tennessee. That was fucking brutal. 01:06:24 Speaker 2: The only surgeries I've had an ACL and a ACL reconstruction. Yeah, those are the only two. What they were the death of me. But sometimes you just got a bunch of body shots. I think a head shot, you know what, I'm saying, but I had, dude, I got this thumb. I told you about this, right. We went to go see the doctor. Wing cut her thumb. Yeah, so Wing cuts her thumb and the doctor's like, yeah, it's gonna be fine. It's not down to the tenants. But what is that? And I'm like, oh, this old, this old fishhook thing right here is like, buddy, you got to get that fixed. Like that's gonna be an issue in your in your wrist, of enture elbow and shoulder, like it's gonna be a big problem. So I'll get him to get a fixed right after the season, so I'll have my third surgery, fourth after my tonsils. But that's really it. 01:07:02 Speaker 1: You're gonna have surgery on that. 01:07:04 Speaker 2: Yeah. 01:07:05 Speaker 1: When you say after the season, like you're talking. 01:07:06 Speaker 2: About after this football season that you. 01:07:08 Speaker 1: And I are we don't play anymore, brother, a piece of you that. 01:07:14 Speaker 2: Still kind of feels not I don't feel like we're playing, but like my brain are. Our calendar is still revolves exactly the way. 01:07:21 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, calendar is still always football. 01:07:23 Speaker 2: It's like I tell Taylor all the time, like, hey, when the fall is over, She's like, sweetie, we're in we're in wintertime. I was like, this is the fall, this is football season. So when the season's over then I can go do X Y and Z. Greg's talking about being the Bahamas. I'm thinking myself, Oh my god, that sounds nice. 01:07:39 Speaker 1: Yeah, I would love to go with his wife. Happy birthday, missus Olsen. 01:07:43 Speaker 2: I see, I see that what we have highlight up here? Do we do we want to talk about that? 01:07:48 Speaker 1: I didn't really watch. I was kind of keeping up with the Titans Browns game. I thought, should hear? What do you have? Almost four hundred yards passing, three touchdowns rushing touchdowns? Yea, yeah, cam Ward had an unbelievable incomplete pass yes motion over the top five A big one though that we haven't touched on Packers beating the Bears. 01:08:06 Speaker 2: Yeah, and like we've done so many takes every single week on ESPN, Buddy called that one, didn't we Yeah? Right now the Bears are sitting in the seventh seed. They went from the one seed to the seventh seed in a matter of three and a half hours. Yeah, and that's just crazy. 01:08:20 Speaker 8: Do you guys think that game gives? Like people are asking are the Bears frauds? 01:08:25 Speaker 1: Now? 01:08:26 Speaker 8: I feel like that game kind of the Bears proved. Yeah they lost, but they prove that they're not frauds, like they can hang with. 01:08:32 Speaker 2: The Bears are not frauds. 01:08:33 Speaker 1: I agree with you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was just gonna say the Bears are not frauds whatsoever. Like very again, takeaways on defense, Caleb Williams has done a great job in the fourth quarter, wins some games. Yes, he missed a big throw yesterday and everybody's gonna break that play down and everything else. Bears have had an awesome season, but they are like statistically, you know, bottom toward the bottom of the list in the majority of categories. Defensively, Caleb Williams no matter that, Like the dude is electric, he spins a football, dude has a rocket of an arm. But also it's statistically one of the worst, one of the least accurate quarterbacks. Yeah, he is the worst. I know, JA, I know JJ McCarthy. But again, when you're talking about inaccuracies, Caleb Williams is also there. Dude's been I saw stat yesterday during that game, watching that Packers Bears game. He's had. At this point of the game, they brought up the graphic thirty three unblocked pressures, sacked zero times. 01:09:30 Speaker 2: His ability to stay alis and his arm, his arm is unbelievable, unbelievable. 01:09:34 Speaker 1: Sometimes he's just off target. But they've had a great year. It's just when you're watching it all unfold and you see the NFC as as a whole, it's like the NFC West with the Niners, Rams and Seattle then Packers. They are playing some really good football that they just have a really good defense. 01:09:50 Speaker 2: If you look at the Bears from last year to this year, that team has gone immensely better under Ben Johnson. Yeah they are. They are a there, very good football team. 01:10:01 Speaker 1: Yeah. 01:10:01 Speaker 2: So are the Bears frauds? No, in a sense that they're that I think they're a good ball club. 01:10:06 Speaker 1: The Bears are frauds if you thought that they were an elite team in the NFC, you. 01:10:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, they're frauds. If you think if you say, hey, the Bears are contenders, I'm saying, well, then know the Bears are frauds. 01:10:17 Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. If you had them in your brain like this is a contender football team and you're so pissed about that game yesterday that you're just you're upset with the quarterback. You're upset with that coach, you're upset with all things Chicago, Like that's more on you. Yeah, because I think that they've done a great job winning some of these tight games where probably they could have had no business winning those games. 01:10:35 Speaker 2: No business. And dude, I mean the intangibles that Caleb william has are incredible, Like there's just things you cannot teach to just jump off the tape when you're watching him and he's like, like you said, thirty three unblocked pressure, zero sacks. Yeah, that is a stat that I would I would print out and frame if I'm Caleb Williams. 01:10:52 Speaker 1: He is. 01:10:53 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he's the most elusive quarterback in the NFL, Like no one can really get to him and his ability he does. He's been ready, like you know someone, and he's been inaccurate. But he's getting better and better. And I think next year we're going to Next year they get they tune up a couple of things. We'll see how free agency in the draft goes. But we can go into next year they can Oh, hey, the Bears are actual contenders now if Cab Williams makes this. 01:11:17 Speaker 8: Next step talking about his elusivity, I saw a stat watching. 01:11:21 Speaker 7: The games, so bad going. 01:11:24 Speaker 8: Caleb Williams has like five or six plays over twenty miles an hour running. The rest of the NFL I think has like four. 01:11:32 Speaker 2: Yeah. 01:11:33 Speaker 1: Yeah, he's electric to watch. I enjoy watching him. It's just again, when you were talking about the Division Packers Bears, Jordan Love is unbelievable. That defense is unbelievable. He got Josh Jacobs, Watson gets going in their wide receiver group, like they're going to be a tough football team. 01:11:50 Speaker 2: The farther we get into the season and we've seen this all, this kind of thing's happening with the Packers and the conversation we just have with Greg, like the Packers are built perfectly for the playoffs. Yeah, they're built perfectly. Now they live on the end of the world of the NFC when it's like, brother, I think we walk into all these games in the playoffs and their spreads are like one and a half, two and a half, Like it's gonna be it's gonna be pick them's all the way through. Like, I am so excited to watch these playoffs coming up. But the Packers do what they built the little resume their ability to run the ball. Josh Jaksa had what eighty eight yards yesterday, cracked off a couple of fifteen ers here and there, but like physical, get after the down. The downside to them is their offensive line, but they have weapons on the perimeter. Their defense is high flying the go. Everwhere they got Rashad Gary and Rashan Gary Sorry, and Michael Parsons both guys, blue chip, five star guys coming out of high school. Obviously we're both first round draft picks. Like they are built for the playoffs. Bilt, I had to piss so bad close us out. 01:12:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, do your thing. I was just gonna say, we're sitting in a nice pocket for some of the things we've talked about. We were on ESPN last week, Sam Bears are gonna make the playoffs, sneaky Jacksonville Jaguars bits day and it says said since September. 01:13:02 Speaker 5: Not so much for college though. 01:13:04 Speaker 1: You remember hip was it Penn State? 01:13:08 Speaker 3: Yeah? 01:13:08 Speaker 2: Yeah, still I think I had, like, uh, who'd I have? 01:13:15 Speaker 1: Penn State? Maybe Texas? Clemson? Who knows my college football? No one gives a ship about college football boys, Not right here, not in this segment. Not now. I'm talking about some of my old takes right now, Chiefs ain't making the playoffs, Broncos. I was talking in September like later in September eight. Patriot's gonna upset the Bills. Now Patriot's gonna win the division. We got that one sitting. Yeah, the sneaky Jacksonville Jaguars once again sending a good pocket. Oh, the Eagles are gonna get figured out. But uh, I am excited. The NFL playoffs are gonna be electric. Speaking of playoffs, the college football playoff, the rankings, the tournament is set. We're gonna get into that with all of our college football talk coming. If you're watching on YouTube, that will drop. That'll be a separate episode show dropped. If you're listening to us on audio right now, you will hear an ad break and then we will get into our college football talk. Thank you guys for tuning in. I hope you enjoyed Greg Olsen here in the Old War Stories. Continue to leave comments, Do not forget to leave comments. And again, just make sure you check your phone or computer, whatever you're on wherever you're listening to us or watching us, and make sure you are subscribed to Bustle with the boys, We'll see you in a little bit. Welcome back to busting with the boys. We are now doing the college football recap. Gentlemen. Here, we are sitting here on the bus Monday morning after selection Sunday. The college football Playoff its lined out, the tournament is set in stone. There's chaos everywhere. I'm sure there's a lot of things we can talk about. Conference championships, the whole Alabama in situation, Miami in situation, Notre Dame out situation. There is a lot to break down. G G five teams. Of the two two very. 01:15:02 Speaker 2: Worthy teams that one is dogs by seventeen and a half, the other one's dog by twenty one and a half. Definitely deserving of being in the playoffs. You give them a rind of a plus. Shout out the g vitulations to JMU and two Lane. 01:15:16 Speaker 1: But a lot of conversations to talk about. Where do we want to get started. We got the boys on the bus JP, Jack, Garrett Klump, Sherman Mitch All college football siccos All, I'm sure have opinions on this weekend. We need to break it down right here. 01:15:31 Speaker 2: Let's whip through this these conference championships real quick. Do you want to start with the one we were at. 01:15:37 Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, getting to do the all. 01:15:40 Speaker 2: Cast, but you did, do you mind go ahead? This was one of the most fun things that I have ever been able to do with you. It was it was just awesome. Like g Jack, Clump, Like we flew in the way we flew in on a private jet and then this bus comes in and picks us up and these three dudes shared one room together. We are such a backwards business, it's insane. But like you guys, the three of you, I mean, we'll get in everything, but you guys were so extremely helpful the entire time, help them with the waters anything any Hey, you want my mind whole miss every break, you guys are coming up to us helping us out. Clump, you yelling at the bus driver to stop, only to find out that he was actually taking us to the right spot. The entire time. We'll get into all that, but like, dude, you the three of you, the three of you, the energy, everything, like it's so incredibly helpful in these spots. Because I'll speak for myself, but like you're living in this world of nerves and you're kind of always playing like how this thing's gonna go and you're playing things in your hand. You guys kept it like, kept it fun, like grabbing the coffees, like being as helpful as possible. It was massive cold coffee. And then getting getting the call from Pat McAfee in ESPN to say, hey, we want you guys, you two dumb idiots, We want you, along with the well spoken Osh Peyton Harry Douglas, to go and call this this all cast An SEC Championship, not on ESPN Plus or ESPN two, but the actual ESPN where every swinging dick in the world who has basic cable at least can thumb through their channels and it'll pop up where you will see our faces. 01:17:16 Speaker 1: Dude. 01:17:17 Speaker 2: It was awesome. 01:17:17 Speaker 1: Yeah, it truly was incredible. It's it's surreal. It's like I had put up a post like I wish I could say this was a dream come true, but I'll be honest, Like when we started busting with the boys and everything else, like doing something like this has just never even been a thought in my brain right, And getting to do it and getting text for my brothers and dad and family members and people in my close circle and just Wyat, my youngest brother just being like like, what the fuck you're You're going to be doing it all cast on ESPN. That's insane, insane. Yeah, it's it, dude. It is surreal, man, and we're on the sideline. It's me, you, Josh Paid, Harry Douglas getting to sit there and shop it up with guys throughout the throughout the game, Sean, Alexander, Brandon, Spikes, Quavo, Jalen Walker. Just being in that being in that stadium for Championship Saturday, Bama versus Georgia, it's just surreal. And it's like, I never want to I never want us to take these moments for granted, because we are not doing we are not even in these moments without the support of everybody that tunes in, everybody that's watched and followed from day one. The support and love was awesome after like getting to your phone and seeing all the messages, seeing all the mentions on social media. But we are not doing that unless we have the support of everybody out there. The Tier One's absolutely everybody that's helped hype us up along the way, and we've like stumbled forward and ended up on ESPN doing an all cast for the sec championship. Yeah, and it's just really cool. We're not here, Like, we're not here without you guys, grinding every week without all the fans leaving comments all the time. Just how we've been propped up to be on Get Up this year and do the all cast and just everything we've gotten to do crossing paths with Josh pat this year has been unbelievable. 01:18:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's such a crazy perfect alignment. 01:19:01 Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's dude, I'm thankful. It's like gratitude. I was very nervous. The Jackie got the video of me before the game where I'm like walking, I'm like talking out loud. Like my prep this week has felt like I'm getting ready to play in a game. My feeling at the hotel when we're having our dinner that was super important on Friday, and I'm kind of thinking, man, I want to get to my room. I want to be able to think about these things before we do Josh Bate's live show and then get back and be like, Okay, I want to put on some more prep so I can set myself up for tomorrow morning when we're sitting down there having coffee and talking shop. Some of the things going on my head. I got the paper sitting right there trying to still study. I have no clue how it's gonna go. And I had those that excitement and those nerves kind of mixed together at the same time going onto that field then having the little botch dry run there that it was unbelievable. All the fans we got to meet there, like all the dogs, barking, guys like pull out my phone and take videos and they're all performing for the video, taking selfies with everybody. It was unbelieve Man, Dude walking. 01:20:01 Speaker 2: On the field in Atlanta at the SEC Championship and liked equipment staff is there, Coaches are starting to walk through and people just like coming up to us being like yo, I love your shit, like and you're just like, oh, for real, like that that tied at number seven, lucky for uh for Georgia. He's like warming up, like we're kind of standing there that hasn't started, Like this is like the warmst before they go back in and come back out. And he takes a moment out of his warm up as I'm like turning a corner and he's like, bro, love watching your show, and I'm just like it's insane that people it's always mind blowing that people watch. 01:20:33 Speaker 1: And he had a big catch on that pump screen. 01:20:35 Speaker 2: Yeah, but and yeah, you were getting all hyped about that screaming in the microphone. Dude, it was amazing, It was It was so funny. After hearing Will's voice, I'm thinking, this motherfucker really was just screaming the whole time. And I during the game too. I didn't realize that, Like, I'm kind of I'm talking the way I am right now and Will is we are the big one here. It's second and seven, and I'm thinking, can I had never crossed my brain that that that was in until Josh brought it up on the flight. Oh, this dude really was screaming the whole time, which is just. 01:21:08 Speaker 1: Like Charles texting me laughing. She's like, Taylor sounded completely normal and you're just yelling at the a gape. 01:21:17 Speaker 2: How weird is that when you're uh, when you're like talking to a game, you can hear the crowd getting wound up, and you obviously feel like, oh, I gotta scream into this microphone, when really that's what the microphone is for your voice. 01:21:29 Speaker 1: It's like a couple of things one. It's very loud in those years. 01:21:32 Speaker 2: Yes, oh it's. 01:21:33 Speaker 1: Very like you can't hear anything. You can feel the crowd and you can hear all the noise coming in from everybody's microphone, so you feel like you've got to be a little bit louder. But also just being immersed in the game and like talking to the games, like I'm sitting there, I was like, I felt like just a linebacker trying to call that football. Yeah, yeah, yeah, somebody makes a pop or a big hit or makes a play when Bray Hubbard made a play on that first series, just getting to say that my favorite terms like pissing vinegar, a gap, blood flown below the pill. 01:21:58 Speaker 2: We start talking about the team's porn, Like start talking about the all white team, like that kid you know when he gets drafted. We know a team he's going on will come off, and we're kind of smiling, giggling ourselves and all like yeah a tier ones are laughing at an inside joke. 01:22:09 Speaker 8: When you said the special team's porn part like you like died off at the point, because you know if you were. 01:22:15 Speaker 1: And in my head before I said special teams poor it, I'm thinking, do I say porn. Yeah, on this broadcast. 01:22:21 Speaker 2: You just say, hey, what just happened on that play needs to be age verified if you're going on a website like that is. Dude, it was awesome, It really was, And I'm like excited, But there's a piece of me that you know, when you do something one time, it's like the next time you do it, like that, all the things that kind of caught you off guard, like oh shit, Like I know I knew walking into it that there's four of us talking about a football game that all have football knowledge, Like the lift is not as big as you think it's going to be. So like it's not like one guy's calling the game and you're giving all the color on it, like Pete's calling the game. But also all four of us are going to talk about what we've seen, so you're talking like not as much after every single play. So I wasn't nervous. I was more excited, like ma'am, I like it's like high school football excited. And we go to do the dry run and Caitlin's in our ears. She's like, Hey, what's gonna happen is is we're gonna go We're gonna do the dry run and then a few minutes later we're gonna start the broadcast. But let's just make everybod feel comfortable. We're gonna gonna run you through what we're gonna play on the screen. You can do that, and so for me going. 01:23:20 Speaker 1: For more context too for everybody watching and listening. The dry run, we were doing it ten minutes before we went live. Yeah, ten we had the monitors out there. We're gonna do a practice run. It's gonna be like we're going to talking about our key players. We're gonna run all the monitor. You guys talked through your twenty five seconds. 01:23:33 Speaker 2: Each, so we uh so, first off was like Harry doug let's talk about zachar Yah Branch, which played out perfectly because he really was a massive piece of George's game plan. And then Josh Pak goes on Tim Keenan. Then my whole thing was about the offensive lines and the different type of offense that they're going to run. And then Will, but Will went before me, so flip that Will, we're going to talk about Gunastoka, and then I was the last one to go about the two offensive lines and how they're gonna win the game. Josh goes smacks the shit out of it, like true Josh paid for my I've never heard that man say or stutter over and he's he's a true pro, Harry Douglas. He's in his RG three bag doing the fun stuff. Then Will starts to go and I'm like, I'm so excited. 01:24:12 Speaker 1: I'm like, Gunner Stockton is the most important player in this game. And I talk about this is a guy that's been in the Heisman conversation all season long. He can beat you with his arms, he can beat you with his legs, and you look at what Alabama did to him last time. And I stopped and I paused, and I stared. I tried finding the words. Too many words were coming through my head. I couldn't get it together. I couldn't figure it out. And I just had this long pause to probably last it felt like an hour, but it was about four seconds. And then I just look up to the crowd and I just go practice run, practice run. 01:24:40 Speaker 2: And at that moment, right there, dude, and then Taylor shitting myself. All three guys like after you went, Josh just started to like go into the whole thing, and Kaitling gets over, goes Hey Taylor hasn't done his thing yet. He's like, and then they's like running back. So after you have your thing, I know, like it's fun to like laugh at you or me when we like a brain fart, but like when you have the brain fart, my brain's like your. 01:25:04 Speaker 1: Next buddy, And she's like, Josh, you got to get back to Taylor and I like break down. 01:25:07 Speaker 2: Oh it was our practice run. 01:25:09 Speaker 1: There's no other opportunities after that, Like we didn't go back there, let's start from the top, none of that. So we're just kind of sitting there, sitting in it. We're gonna be straight, We're gonna be good. Fortunately it worked out because I was I was like kind of sitting there. I was like, man, I'm sure people like this. We're gonna be able to hit this is Brad. Is it gonna happen again? I'm thinking, is my brain gonna happen again? Buddy, you got this. She's own the moment. YadA, YadA YadA. Fortunately it all worked. Dude. 01:25:29 Speaker 2: You crushed it at the beginning of it, and then I think it, Like my personal feelings about it was like it took like the first half of the first quarter for us all to kind of settle in. I think after every play, all three of us, Oh, you, Me and Harry were all kind of trying to find a place to say something like we're like, you know, trying to take the show on as if we're doing ourselves. And then, you know, right after the first quarter, and I thought it was very smooth sailing from then on, especially in the second half. Yeah, I felt like we all kind of got into a lane where it's like, you see something happening, we kind of feel each other's bi lingus that There's a couple of times I'd tap you, I'd be like kind of like, hey, I'm gonna I have something to say. So Josh were finishing, I would go Harry and I would do the same thing. 01:26:07 Speaker 6: It was. 01:26:08 Speaker 2: It was sick, dude. And even when the game kind of was out of reach, and at halftime, Harry and a couple of pop like professionals were like, we gotta really hope that Alabama scores otherwise this is gonna be is gonna be tough to go through, Like we got to that like last you know, four or five minutes of the game, and to be honest, like Podcast Mo kind of just hitd over for us, and I felt like that was like the most comfortably war with sitting in there. Let's have fun about it. 01:26:31 Speaker 1: You won a great game just for the view viewers, people tuning in. We got a close game in the SEC Championship. But yeah, the first quarter. I felt solid in the first core because it's just three and out, so there's big plays happening defensively, do I talk about the olda gap, talk about old Bray Hubbard, Uh, c J Allen the linebacker? Where else? I remember when I was hyping up CJ Allen and was and it wasn't even CJ Allen. Is my apologies? Actually hand up, that was not CJ Allen. That was so and so number zero. That might happen a few times. 01:26:58 Speaker 2: This proadcasting really good, But dude, I mean you get on the bus after Clump's yelling at the driver again and we're sitting there like I'm going, we can. 01:27:08 Speaker 1: Get into the driver stuff. Yeah, we could do it. Hit all the college football stuff. We can save the driver the lure with Clump. 01:27:14 Speaker 2: For the true But we're sitting there after the broadcast and you go through, obviously as all of us do after our game and you kind of like you hit your mentions, see what's going on, And it seemed like for the most part, other than a couple of one or two's, it's like overwhelmingly positive reviews, and it's just like, man, it felt good during you had fun doing and then the person who it's four seem receptive to it, like couldn't have asked for a better situation, did you guys? 01:27:44 Speaker 1: How'd you guys enjoy I guess we can. We can save that part too for the I know, we got a college. 01:27:48 Speaker 2: Football we got a college football break, and we got. 01:27:50 Speaker 1: To college before we do. 01:27:51 Speaker 6: I this isn't like new news for us, but every place we go, the strength staff and like the equipment staff specifically always shows out so big for the boys. 01:28:00 Speaker 9: Argia, guys, let us throw the ball around for the game. 01:28:02 Speaker 2: I was kind of nervous asking about a ball too. 01:28:04 Speaker 6: I know, and they you know, they're always like nahn, but they were. They were very gracious. 01:28:07 Speaker 9: They let us throw. 01:28:08 Speaker 6: They were cool after the game, wells dapping up all of them. I'm I just had an idea we can kind of linger on it, think about it, but maybe for next season through either the spring fall or the whole year. I think we need to dedicate an award to the best best staff in terms of just for the vipes, Yeah, for the equipment staff. Maybe like get a T shirt made with them specifically for them because they're listening. 01:28:31 Speaker 9: There's guys that they're listening. And it'd be a fun thing where each school we go to meet with the equipment staff and they show out. 01:28:38 Speaker 6: Not saying they need to roll out right carpets, but it'd be something cool for these guys who clearly are fan base to kind of like have something to throw the. 01:28:45 Speaker 1: Most Yeah, the most underappreciated group, giving them doing something that props. 01:28:50 Speaker 2: But bro truly the heart and soul of every single team. Like these guys. Every single day they're picking up dirty laundry, sway shit, cleaning it off and making sure everyone's lost is ready the next day. They're the first ones in the building when they go for a game, to the last ones to come out. They're usually driving back. Now all of them are going on the plane with the team and they just fucking love it. Like Georgia, Alabama equipment Staff's guarantee they will die for their team, Indiana, Ohio State and down all through these conference championships. They are every moment of the day talking about what could happen and that, and they have their own little groups they go out together, have their softball games and all that stuff like it is the heart and soul of every single team, every single team. 01:29:29 Speaker 6: And Georgia players were iced out the equipment staff. 01:29:34 Speaker 2: Yeah, one kid, one kid doing the broadcast, they score, doesn't dap me up by I guys got dapped up by an EQ got ball boy over here. We're feeling good about. 01:29:41 Speaker 1: It again before we dive into college football. Just you, guys, don't. On the broadcast, they showed the the New Year's Eve six, the New Year's Eve six, the pick six Nebraska Georgia. So after the game, when the competiti is about to come up, they're about to do the ceremony, Coach Bobo the OC comes up to me. He goes, will I'm I'm coach Boba on the OC with Georgia. He put both of his hands on my shoulders and he goes, do you remember your interception in the Capitol Wombo Bowl? And I go, brother, I was just getting to talk about it on the broadcast. Yes, I remember that that interception he breaks down. 01:30:17 Speaker 2: That whole fuck him yeah, dude. In this situation number three, I was like, here's your problem. 01:30:22 Speaker 1: It was one hundred percent on the uh the x crack screen for the running back, and he goes, yeah, but we got you on the counter with old Gurley there in the second half. I say, yeah, yeah he did. That's off to you, but I thought that was so sick they coach Bobo. I was like, oh, man, you were on that staff back then, dude. 01:30:36 Speaker 2: Just a little side note that at halftime, some younger kid, probably you know, thirteen, fourteen fifteen, walks up to me kind of nervous and I'm like, yo, what's up, dude, how you doing? And he's like, hey, I'm a I don't know if it's Marty or what his first name was, but he's like, I'm a coach Smart's son. I was like, Kirby Smart and he's like yes, He's like, I love your guys show. I love watching every single look on my bro, thank you. 01:31:00 Speaker 1: We gotta get Kirby on. If we can't get Kirby, we gotta get him on. 01:31:02 Speaker 2: We gotta get a son on. 01:31:03 Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll get his son on. Yeh, Kirby devil. 01:31:05 Speaker 2: That's what bustle the Boy should turn into. Don't get the coaches on, get the coach's kids on. 01:31:08 Speaker 1: Yeah, coach Smart's kid, Yeah, Kiffin's kid next. Yeah. 01:31:12 Speaker 2: But the game, the game itself obviously Georgia. Massive blow up by Georgia. That I mean, that was that was a great game. You kind of walk into that game and Georgia was favored, but you start to read into all the things about how Kirby Smart's record versus top ten teams is like amazing, and the only those few losses that sit there are all Alabama and he's one and seven and can you get the can he get the monkey off of his back? Or what you kept calling him? The grim Reaper? Alabama and the Grim Reaper? Yeah to Georgia, I. 01:31:39 Speaker 1: Mean Georgia fans were betting on Bama to win the game. Yeah, I hey, who would you take? Who'd you take on? Fans? Or they'd be like, I took I took Bama. Beg, Oh, you're not even bigging. He's like, listen, if it takes me to lose money to try to try and defeat this monster, like, then that's what I'm gonna have to do. 01:31:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was just Georgia came out the way they came out in the second half of their first game. A lot of man they pressed them. They they brought the fight to Alabama and that's the way they won the game. I mean Ty Simpson, Friend of the Future, Front of the show, like the kids sitting there right before the game, dapping us both up. He's doing the joke about keeping it high and tie like, dude, he was awesome about it. Uncharacteristically bad game for him. I mean, he was like under fifty percent. I think he was even under like forty five percent completion percentage at the end of it all. But Georgia just took a hold of that thing from the get go and just ran through it. 01:32:30 Speaker 1: Here. 01:32:31 Speaker 2: I love to know, like where your mind was during this game, because at the end of the day, like, do conference championships really matter? Like we're really trying to win a national checks. 01:32:41 Speaker 1: Ready to get into Yeah, you know, people tune and then they want to hear this college football breakdown. There's a lot to be said. 01:32:47 Speaker 10: No, no, obviously an unfortunate outcome for the Tide, but to be there for a busting trip you guys already said it was amazing. I am officially zero and too when vlogging Bama games. Oh so we got to keep that in mind looking forward. We'll make some business decisions when that gets presented next. But it was so fun, like we when we did that lap on the field before, uh you asked me, you were like, is this not sick for you? And I was like, yeah, I mean this is insane, Like whenever you get to watch your ball club like that close, it's just it's just an awesome experience. So appreciate that. 01:33:28 Speaker 2: Yeah, dude. 01:33:28 Speaker 10: When that block punt happened, it was like, fuck, bro, I know how this goes. 01:33:33 Speaker 2: At punparked the entire thing. 01:33:35 Speaker 1: Bro eighty three yeah, untouched. 01:33:39 Speaker 10: So that was that was brutal. I immediately hit the group channels like that's only seven. They're getting a little that I know interception right, Yeah, that was tough. Hey, sure to stat sheet and uh, go ahead. 01:33:51 Speaker 1: Can you look up number eighty three while Garrett finishes this, because I want to shout that kid out. 01:33:55 Speaker 2: Bro, yeah Kury smartness posting press Confort shout at him out. 01:33:57 Speaker 5: Good. 01:33:58 Speaker 1: He wasn't even on a production sheet. 01:34:00 Speaker 9: You. 01:34:01 Speaker 10: Uh, what's crazy is the person that plays that position to pick that block up. Lt Overton out So new kid, new assignment. Yeah, no excuses, kid got back there untouched. But yeah, when you allow a team like Georgia when they were when they're peaking, to start with the ball on your side of the field every time they touch the ball, you're gonna have a long day. 01:34:28 Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, Like watching that game, you sit there and you're like, you watch how September, October November kind of unfolded for Georgia where they just kind of sat in the shadows for a while, not really covering a whole lot. They're down at half more times than not, and they just progressively gather their momentum. They keep moving forward and they get better and better. It's like they might be walking into this the scariest team in all the playoffs right now, especially what happened in the Big Ten Championship. 01:34:51 Speaker 10: They started the season injured and are now. 01:34:54 Speaker 2: Healthy, right and you see six guys out for that game. 01:34:57 Speaker 10: What's happening for us started healthy? Now it's kind of dwindling. But I mean you said it like does the game matter? Like, yeah, I think it matters a lot. 01:35:09 Speaker 1: We didn't move that was bizarre, man. 01:35:13 Speaker 2: I think it's that that was kind of a we kind of expected go that way. 01:35:18 Speaker 1: I'm not surprised, but that I think it's still I do think I do think this. 01:35:24 Speaker 10: I think that if you win your conference championship game, you should be rewarded above a team who lost theirs. So I do think Indiana should be one, Georgia should be two, yeah, and then Ohio State three. 01:35:36 Speaker 2: I don't disagree with that. 01:35:38 Speaker 10: You know, you should be rewarded for winning your at that point. 01:35:41 Speaker 2: Though, Like, really, when it comes to one, two, three, four, as long as you're one through four, it doesn't matter because by the time you get to the games we're going to play, they're neutral sites and it's really about what color jurory you're wearing. 01:35:52 Speaker 10: And you have three and a half weeks regardless. 01:35:54 Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, So like to me, it's like one is no different than four other than we get to wear our main color, you know, at the end of the day. But yeah, I agree with that. I think Georgia probably should have jumped up to two and then Aha st eight to three. I don't think we need to go through Let's let's hit the conference championship games real quick. And then we can get into this because this is a whole bag of like you look at it can be very quick. Like the doomsday scenario that we wanted that we kind of wanted for the chaos to take place, took place right Like Duke goes over time with Virginia. They end up winning that game. That's incredible. I saw an. 01:36:29 Speaker 1: Amazing coach watching the kids trying the coach and the kids trying to break down. We're a playoff team, just like I saw. 01:36:35 Speaker 2: I saw a Shirm's post about AC commercial but the Bobbleheads it's like winner goes to the playoffs and I was like, yep, should be a full one. 01:36:41 Speaker 6: Yep. 01:36:41 Speaker 2: And I'm thinking myself, I understand what they're trying to do, Like you're trying to make sure that you're the acc as representative and you're going to playoffs. There was never if you're Duke and you're a fan of Duke and you're watching this show and you're like, fight for Duke, buddy, there was never a chance that you guys were going to make it in the playoffs. Never, nothing could taken place. But listen, that was awesome to see because you love the chaos and we'll get in the playoff bracket in a second. And it's like if you want to change, these types of things need to happen for to change. 01:37:11 Speaker 1: Yeah, I wanted Duke to win, so like you know, you knew I wanted Duke to win. So two G five went to the college football playoffs to like punish our overall outlook on how the playoff gets set. 01:37:23 Speaker 2: Up, because you see it once again our bikedon championship Indiana Ohio State. I think we were all blindsided by that, that victory by Indiana. We have to Kurt Signetti is the best coaching college football dude. 01:37:35 Speaker 1: What Signetti has done at Indiana. And look I've said, you know, Nebraska played him last year, so I was nasty about him during that week and then you know, kind of trolled them. But what Kurt Signetti has done at Indiana. They were three and nine before he came to town. This is the first time ever they've had back to back double digit win seasons, the first time they've won a conference championship since nineteen forty five. 01:37:58 Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean program in college football history. 01:38:02 Speaker 8: They were were. Now Northwestern has past them, but like that Northwestern, Yeah, because of big Netti. 01:38:09 Speaker 1: It is incredible what Indiana has done. 01:38:13 Speaker 2: And k Kurt Signetti, dude, that's fucking smirky head walking off the fields. 01:38:19 Speaker 10: His post game was Mike Dropworthy about being humbled. It's like three and a half weeks. 01:38:25 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, dude. 01:38:28 Speaker 2: And I saw a graphic that was talking about the different and talent that both teams had going to this game, like this is the biggest separation of town we eversus. Like I think I had sixty seven blue chip guys, eleven five stars and the rest four stars. Indiana had zero five stars and seven four stars on their team. And that team with no five stars and seven four stars beat sixty seven blue chip players. I mean, dude, but the. 01:38:55 Speaker 1: Way Indiana has played this year, it's not to give that team and all those kids credit. It's like each category Indiana was ranked above them statistically, and a lot of these categories going into the game, with the schedule Ohio State, it's kind of had all year. So as we were getting closer to the game, I'm like, man, I remember we were talking to the car I'm like, I feel like nobody's really been considering Indiana beating Ohia State. 01:39:17 Speaker 2: Dude, I was saying. 01:39:18 Speaker 1: The line was at four and a half, and it's like, who knows what's gonna happen, Like this defense is for real. They get to prove it against an offense like Oha State, and they went out and did it. 01:39:26 Speaker 10: I expected more points. 01:39:28 Speaker 2: I kind of did too. I expected more points about Hoo State for sure. I thought I didn't know what Indiana really was. What this tells me about anything is like Yo, Oregon, they're a bit of a beast too, and they're gonna have enough time to kind of sit their away to get a little tuned up with GMU, so I don't have to have that little by a week that kind of seemed like got to hurt him last year. And it's like it's hard to beat a team twice. They could see each other again. It's dude, it's gonna be awesome. 01:39:52 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So Indiana wins. And by the way, Fernando Mendoza's post game buddy, I threw out that tweet Fernando Mendoza's Kirk Cousins on cocaine like. 01:40:03 Speaker 2: The dude das it looks similar. 01:40:05 Speaker 1: The dude just can't miss on a mic any type pops. I mean Charles sitting there. She starts laughing because it's like her first time seeing seeing Fernanda Mendoza speak on a mic, and I am just grinning ear to ear, like this is exactly what I wanted him talking about super glue in the team. 01:40:20 Speaker 2: And wrapping his hands around the reporter's mike to do the super glow, his movements, everything. 01:40:26 Speaker 10: Between his post game and then Duke's coach postgame, who was more cringe. 01:40:31 Speaker 1: Part of me was like just I loved Fernando. 01:40:34 Speaker 2: People people. I saw a lot of tweet people hating on Fernando. I personally love it. 01:40:38 Speaker 7: I hate I didn't. 01:40:39 Speaker 8: I obviously hated it because like we lost, but it's like you can't you can't knock the love for the game and. 01:40:47 Speaker 1: The passion that he has, Like that is him, Like that's his authenticity. Like the dude coach. You know, he's sitting there lying through his teeth talk about we deserve to be in the playoffs. 01:40:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, he sat there with his with his team and he's like I gotta say that, Yeah, I guess we'll go in. 01:40:59 Speaker 1: Let me go fight seven win regular season team. We lost to five good teams. Dude, Fernando was real, like you got for Nanda Mendozo. That's what I loved, a. 01:41:12 Speaker 2: Beating the number one team in the country being undefeated. 01:41:15 Speaker 6: Also, Nashville Pod Bust with the Boys got a shout out Nashville guy Charlie Becker on Indiana the receiver. Yeah he went to father Ryan Na Malone's claiming that they were best friends. 01:41:30 Speaker 9: Yeah, but that kid was going off. 01:41:33 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, let's go, dude, it's crazy these kids. Watch man. It just goes back to us walking around the sideline of the dude's like dapping us up, loving the show. By Simpson being all about it. 01:41:45 Speaker 1: In the Big twelve Championship, by you got blown out. I think it was. 01:41:48 Speaker 2: I think we all expected and points did that. Yeah, I mean, you knew it was over when Jacob Rodriguez was on college game Day and it was two hundred fifty thousand dollars from Hit the crossb after Diego Pavia did not a couple of weeks ago, and he binks that thing no problem, had a swag and a walk about him with a mustache in the neck. The neck is show crazy. 01:42:07 Speaker 1: On the kid arms, the quads, the entire build for that linebacker. I just want to. I just want to get my hands on it. Yeah, Jacob, I just get my hand. If you can do second, just back, buddy. I'm fired up for. 01:42:21 Speaker 2: If you could go to the combine and pretend to be like a medical physician, just to put your hands on him, feel the quads a little bit, walk in and got a mask on. I don't look at this kid, Dude, he's got a two head. He didn't get a four. That's how full how much full hair he has? 01:42:34 Speaker 1: Yeah, like, I'm just gonna daw feel your quads for a second. Make sure you don't have any strains. 01:42:39 Speaker 2: Look at the jersey the trap movement there, dude, that guy's never gonna stare in his life. But he got a twenty twelve will contin neck. Yeah, he's got his neck is bigger than his head. This kid is fucking unbelievable. 01:42:53 Speaker 5: Man. 01:42:54 Speaker 1: It's a good looking young man. 01:42:55 Speaker 2: Good looking young man. Married boy too, married man, Where do you come from? Virginia? 01:42:59 Speaker 7: Look at that? 01:43:00 Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? 01:43:00 Speaker 7: His wife is a badass too. She's a black Hawk black Hawk helicopter pilot. 01:43:07 Speaker 1: Of course she is. 01:43:07 Speaker 7: Of course, Yeah, it's so badass. 01:43:09 Speaker 2: Wouldn't have had it any other way. Match this kid. We gotta get him on the pod. 01:43:13 Speaker 1: That's where Jacob Rodriguez deserves. 01:43:16 Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean imagine him going back when his twenty year football career is over, goes back to Texas Tech and just runs that show. Yeah, God bless look at him. 01:43:28 Speaker 1: So what were you guys' thoughts on the college football Playoff? What were you guys just thoughts on the College Football Playoff? 01:43:34 Speaker 5: Like the rankings and stuff. 01:43:35 Speaker 1: Yeah, like how it worked out, the chaos that ensued. Again, I was I was fired up that Duke one because it's almost like I don't believe we all. It's like the G five teams getting in. It sucks. I went to twelve best teams, but it's almost like to punish us for this system that we have. I think with them. 01:43:51 Speaker 4: Getting in, I don't really understand why Notre Dame was so puzzled why they weren't. 01:43:55 Speaker 2: In, because they don't know the rules. And if I'm a Notre Dame fan and I wasn't being educated by Josh paidon being in this world as much as we are this year, I would have the same exact view. Yeah, but they just don't know that this is how it happen that this is how it goes. 01:44:08 Speaker 4: Because I'm watching it and everybody's complaining, I'm just like, well, no, this is there's two G five teams and y'all lost to Miami. 01:44:15 Speaker 1: Yeah, Notre Dame. Notre Dame got screwed. 01:44:17 Speaker 7: Bro I saw there because of the G five's because a. 01:44:21 Speaker 2: Few different angles, Miami should be in over Notre Dame. That's it's clear. The only argument to that is who do you believe is a better team right now, Notre Dame or Miami. And they answer to that question is most likely for everybody going to be Notre Dame. But other than that, if you put schedule up against schedule, common opponent wins versus common to put it wins head to heads, it's like it's all in Miami's favor and that's just the reality. The they're more deserving than Notre Dame to be in the game. 01:44:46 Speaker 7: I saw it. 01:44:47 Speaker 8: I saw a tweet and I don't know if you retweeted or something, but like, I think after this year, it's like written in the contract or the College Football playoff. 01:44:56 Speaker 1: Yeah that mo ou to where if they're ranked in the top twelve going into the regular season, next year they're an automatic bid. 01:45:01 Speaker 7: I don't think I thought it was at the end of the season, not going into the season. 01:45:06 Speaker 2: It's got to be at the end. Yeah, I thought the start, they start off at eleven, they go one and eleven, They're like, we gotta put them in though. Yeah, g five now Yeah. 01:45:16 Speaker 8: This is from Ross Dellinger and new Zy Wrinkle from Bovaqua whatever as a part of an MoU signed last spring. Notre Dame is a shure a CFB perth if it is ranked in the top twelve starting next year. The situation unfolds next year, the final at large team Miami would have gotten bumped for number eleven Notre. 01:45:32 Speaker 2: Dames, which is there would be a legitimate argument from Miami fans. 01:45:36 Speaker 8: And be like what what The fact that they have a special rule because they're not in a conference is the most insane thing. And then I think it's also bitch made that they're not playing in a bowl game. 01:45:44 Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think I can. I can understand everybody's angle. The competitor. It's like, yeah, it kind of sucks that they're taking their ball and going home. But if you're also Notre Dame on the highest viewpoint, I would be livid that we got left out of the college football playoff. I'd be living livid because you look, that's why I had the tweet yesterday. It was insane to hear Hunter on behalf of the committee talk about how we watched that game yesterday with BYU. That's why they never really had a shot. They were never going to be in the playoff to begin with. I completely understand it. People like, well, you don't understand that Bama was already in the playoff. BYU wasn't in the playoffs. I get that. To me, it's you're talking about what you watched on the field, and that's what pushed them back at ranking. What you watched on the field in the SEC Championship was the same exact thing, and they they went full protection mode on Bama and the SEC, which again we know the powers that be the SEC, ESPN all where the money's at. You don't want to piss off your biggest, your best product. They were never gonna move Bama. So in my opinion, you're either going to move both BYU and Bama back a slot, which again Alabama is still in the playoff. BYU is still out of the playoff, or you're going to keep them both right where they're at. But the problem was they fucked up putting Notre Dame so high in Miami so far back to begin with, because they knew they had to manipulate this system to get them side by side. Give kind of the nod to Miami over Notre Dame because they beat him head to head. But that's all they were trying to do. Because the way that my man was up there breaking down each conference game, I'm like, yo, this is unreal hearing him talk about BYU like this and then fully protect Alabama because it's like you either just keep them where they're at or you move them back a slot. I thought that they would move Bama back a slat based on that performance, because again, if not, it's like, these conference games shouldn't mean anything. If nobody's gonna move and there's there's not gonna be a whole lot of movement, just take the conference championship games out of it. But that was where I was kind of like, dude, I would be livid if I was Notre Dame because if Bama does the same thing, Bama is still in the playoff at ten. But now Notre Dame, you have to flip them. Notre Dame has to be nine, so they're never compared right next to Miami. At the end of the day, I do think both Miami and Notre Dame should be in over We have two G fives in That sucks. But a hunter, they're gonna sit up there and say it had nothing to do with the ACC representation. To me, that's that's complete bullshit, Like that's why Miami's getting in, putting not in any other position, put Notre Dame. Say Michigan's tending to in Notre Dame. Spot any team in here if your team is what Notre Dame was sitting at, they're all getting in. Now Notre Dame's in the ACC. They're getting they're playing in the ACC Championship because they don't. They only have one conference loss compared to Miami's. 01:48:18 Speaker 6: Too. 01:48:18 Speaker 1: Again, everybody's been begging them to get in the conference. People are happy that they're not punished for not being in a conference. I get all of that, but Notre Dame in any other situation, they are getting in that college football playoffs, so I would be absolutely pissed. I completely understand why they're removing themselves their rights. They don't want to help out X, Y and Z. I get that from a high level, From a competitive level, it sucks. It's like you want to go put the ball down anywhere, any place anytime. People say bowl games mean absolutely nothing, so there's really no upside to playing in a bowl game anyway. I get all of it, but I would be livid if I was in the Notre Dame camp. 01:48:51 Speaker 2: Yeah. 01:48:52 Speaker 1: And again, if the majority thinks they're the better football team, you put the better football team in the college football playoff. 01:48:58 Speaker 2: Can't put you can't put the better football team in over the more deserving football team in. Can't do it. 01:49:03 Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it, and that's why I personally want G was the first team these deserving teams to like, Okay, we want the best. I want the best teams going in the Costo player. I don't disagree because right before the selection Sunday happened, they're at a minus thirty five hundred to get in like everything, they're favored against basically every team except like three teams, like they had a top four shot of winning this thing. And I hate that we're not seeing the twelve best teams after Bama lost the way that they lost, and I get it, they earned the right to be in the SEC Championship, but what we saw the way they lost, the way they've kind of hobbled in at the end of the year, beating South Carolina by seven, surviving against Auburn, getting whooped like that in the SEC Championship. 01:49:45 Speaker 2: To me, I was saying it on the broadcast. 01:49:48 Speaker 1: I put out the tweet. I'm like putting Notre Dame in Miami, both in because they both seem like they're the better football team than Alabama. 01:49:55 Speaker 2: Okay, you can't disagree with the fact that Alabama kind of lived themselves in the SEC Championship. If you take Alabama out of the playoffs, the SEC would fucking lose their mind. It would be like, the SEC is the highest earner for all of college football. We know that, we understand that they are not going to take out another SEC school because of it. That's not going to happen. I don't know what you said. So many words you talked about BYU for a second, b YU was never in the playoffs. I might have been ranked eleven, but they were never in the playoffs. Because when everything sort itself out, these G five teams had to be in, so unless you're in that ten slot, you're actually not in like eleven and twelve for kind of placeholders for the ACC Championship taking place or these what ended up being the two G fives. So if you're BYU, you had it was very black and white. You win, you're going to be in the playoffs. You lose, you were out of the playoffs. It'd been very interesting to see BYU win that game, to see what happens with Alabama Notre Dame in Miami. But if you're Alabama, it's like you've earned a luxury to play in this game that Ole miss that didn't have and who was in Oklahoma and and m so three teams like weren't good enough to get in this game, and you're gonna take out a team that was good enough to get in this game. That makes zero sense all of them to me. This is a week thirteen, but it's like it's exhibition, Like whoever wins, they get to hold up a trophy they get, the better they can get the confetti the other team. Hopefully we're not injured, because the real, the real journey is but to begin in a couple of weeks we go for the for the playoffs. People that are mad that Alabama's still in it, it's just buddy, two things, money and you're never gonna punish a team for being the second best in your conference. 01:51:32 Speaker 10: Again, I'm not like that game is the number one seed in the SEC. 01:51:36 Speaker 1: Yeah right, we all knew that. That was like Alabama wasn't gonna be out of it. I'm saying, if you're looking at just what happened and everything else, it's like, yo, just put Notre Dame Miami. I get that that was never going to be the case. They were going to keep Miami in and I know BYU is not gonna be in the playoffs, But in those situations, those rankings still matter, and all in the system essentially just had to figure out a way to manipulate to where this Notre Dame Miami conversation had to take place, or saying, hey, they had to head to head win. It's like you needed an ACC team in. And also like you're up there talking about how BYU the way they perform, that's why their ranking drops back to me, it's like, I know BYU is never gonna be in it. I'm not arguing they should have been in it even with a close loss, but them them holding true to that eleven ranking when Alabama didn't move down either. To me, that's where I was like, guys, just say you messed up. You messed up, and you had to figure out the system to get Notre Dame in Miami. We messed up by making Notre Dame so much higher in the very beginning when we opened it up. We fucked up by disrespecting Miami's ranking. At the very end, we never talked about their head to head. The world exploded over it, and at the eleventh hour you had to just figure out a way to manipulate it a little bit to get him head to head. I would rather just hear him say, hey, we messed up from the get go, versus being like BYU the way they lost, that's kind of why their ranking goes back one or they were never going to be a playoff. I know they were never gonna be in every time. But then fully protecting, yeah, fully protecting Bama versus being like, again, if you're doing the same thing to BYU moving them back one Byama is still in with going down in Bama is still in with going down to ten, you would just it would make that argument that much harder for Notre Dame. 01:53:11 Speaker 10: To me, that's why I was shocked they didn't move Alabama down one spot to keep Notre Dame in. It helps your case if you're the committee, say Okay, they're still in, but we did punish them by moving them down. You did reward Notre Dame. But where they messed up is what you're saying, like three weeks ago, yeah they did. The bracket is where they started this chaos. 01:53:32 Speaker 1: Yes, yes, agree on a hundred. 01:53:34 Speaker 2: This issue came week three of college football when you had Notre Dame still in the AP, which I know AP and College Wall playoff bracket tw two different things. Notre Dame loses two games in a row. I understand those are two highly ranked teams, but they're the first team, and I don't know how long we can obviously look it up that Notre Dame stayed in the top twenty five, knowing good and well that this brand, this logo and South Bend Indiana and what they've been able to do for college football. We need getting the playoffs hopefully. These other two teams they lost to stumble fall and get one more loss in Notre Dame doesks we know that they're probably gonna win the next ten games in a row. That is where they messed up is the game of assumption. Now the BYU thing, I don't know why this guy sitting up in a press conference going well because of BYU lost by this much. The easiest answer is they hey, they were never in it, like based on the rules and how this whole thing is structured. Even though these two teams is to Lane and GMU that you now see up here, they're in. They were always in. These eleven and twelve guys in thirteen fourteen, they were all placeholders for what happened in the ACC championship. That's it. The only way BYU makes it in is if they win the Big twelve, then Miami's also out. Miami would never in and then and then because the College Ruble brought the College Bable Playoff is built to have the SEC winner, the Big ten winner, a Bag twelve winner, and the ACC winner. That is how it's built. But because the ACC has the most insane schedule, a billion teams in it, and none of the good teams actually play each other, and they fucked around the whole entire year. Now, the committee found themselves in a spot they never thought they would be in, and so this is what's great. A lot of people can be pissed about this. If you're Notre Dame, feel free to be mad. If your Texas, feel free. 01:55:10 Speaker 1: To be mad. 01:55:11 Speaker 2: The people I feel most bad for is Vanderbilt said it. I'm the only one saying it. However, it sucks for you guys that you're not in this playoff going down the road now. The only way for real change to take place is when catastrophic things happen. This would qualify as a catastrophic thing happening so that the next year the college wall bracket is more. Hey, the best twelve teams now. The answer to that question, to me, even though I would love to see it, the answer is not to make it sixteen. That is not your answer, because you're going to run in the same problem with sixteen through eighteen, and then there's gonna be the Jmus and the two Lanes who are good football teams, but they're not competitive from a winning a national championship. I think the easiest and clearest way in. 01:55:50 Speaker 1: This Hey, shout out to Caleb B. Ingram teared talk. He did want us to break down how we would fix the college football Okay, so. 01:55:55 Speaker 2: Okay, well here we are, Kaylee b Ingram to me and this was not my opinion. This is opinion that was given to me that I'm not saying, like that sounds really a well way to do it is, Josh pay goes, why not make it? You have to be ranked in the top fifteen to be in the Cullegeur Role Playoff. 01:56:10 Speaker 1: You have to be a top. 01:56:11 Speaker 2: Fifteen team to even be into it. Now you don't get into this JMU two lane World, Miami Notre Dame. Like now you're kind of sniffing out these are the best teams because I believe in somebody's correct me if I'm wrong, you can't leave out a G five team in the Coullegeur Role Playoff. Im my correct in that you're not allowed. It's literally legislation has to be changed. If something has to happen from a government standpoint, that's way above me to get that finished. So and then oh this is a good one too. There's jer talk by d Moote sixty one, go ahead, will. 01:56:46 Speaker 1: I was gonna say to add to that too. In my opinion, you do away with championship weekend because I know big time money, but I loved listening to Kirby's smart breakdown his even argument for he knows he wants, but he also did some he also did some work for the SEC. So for Bama in this situation, he's like, you guys, they're SEC is gonna have to play nine conference games. He's like, you guys, just witnessed a ninth game in the SEC. Everybody's gonna be going through the nine conference games, and the SEC is deeper than everybody else. And he's like, then you're just gonna get if you do a championship game, you're gonna get a tenth SEC game. Yeah, and if nobody, like, if nobody's going to if these games don't mean anything, like if Bama gets worked like that and nothing happens ranking wise, nothing really happens ranking wise for you know, Big twelve everywhere else. It's like, why not just throw away conference championship weekend, Get the playoff started earlier, get it done by a New Year's. 01:57:40 Speaker 8: I think yeah, I think yeah, exactly, make conference championship playing weekend. You have the spots ten, eleven, and twelve open, and then you have six teams. Those those three winners are now you're ten, eleventh, and twelve. 01:57:53 Speaker 1: Dog. 01:57:53 Speaker 2: I would absolutely love that like that. Yeah, I love it. 01:57:57 Speaker 1: That is I feel like that now right, there's money everybody. 01:58:00 Speaker 2: That that's when everywhere. However, but now you're splitting money right because you have ACC playing Big Big ten, who's playing Big twelve? Places s seat. Now all these conferences are getting a bite at the apple as opposed to their own apple alone, like the SEC Championship, Big ten Championship. I listen, if we're talking about purity of the game. I love everything we all just said, but we all know the powers it be. It's all about that the naro that ends up happening. That's why Bowl games are still happening. I'm gonna I'll touch on this real quick because I know we've already moved past the subject. I have zero issue with Notre Dame taking their ball and going home. 01:58:31 Speaker 1: Zero. 01:58:31 Speaker 2: I think Bowl games are done. I told G last year what alabim playing Mission. I was like, bro, this game didn't matter. Like we won and that was great, but like half your team sat out and a bun and less of our guys sat out than your guys, and the weather happened to work out for us. I don't care. The most important thing for Bowl games for me are those fifteen practices because you get your set your kids that early in roll, you get to get them into an extra fifteen day practices, and now you're looking towards the next year. Yes, I feel bad for the marching bam and the baton girls and the cheerleaders, everybody who's like, oh shit, yeah, seniors who are like, oh shit, that's my last year, that was my last game and I didn't even know it. My heart does go out to them for that. But from a competitive standpoint, there's zero like the days of like Vanderbilt, the way they took the any time any place, anywhere, like that whole thought process that is now, that is Caveman thought process. We're in the world of how do we get into the college World Playoff if we're not in the cullege role playoff? How do we make our team better through the transfer portal and recruiting process to get to the culgeur wrole Playoff. None of these coaches give a shit. They probably do give a shit, but no one who is an actual competitive team like in Notre Dame City outside or like a Texas that are like in that we should have been in the playoffs. We have a argument in our mind that we truly believe we should be in the playoffs. No one, they don't give a shit about the ball game. They want to look to next year to get into sar talk about the ball game. What he said, he was all these gratitude. 01:59:57 Speaker 1: He's all about. They can't wait to go out there and compete against a team like Michigan. 01:59:59 Speaker 2: I love That's great. That's that's perfectly said to the to the public. You should absolutely said it about it too. I love that that's all. That's what That's what Vanderbilt should absolutely say. I'm saying the shit doesn't matter anymore, and we all know it doesn't matter anymore. 02:00:12 Speaker 11: You had so many teams drop out of ball games that nine, five and seven teams were offered bowl games and nine said no until Appalachian State said yes, that's crazy. 02:00:25 Speaker 1: Crazy. 02:00:26 Speaker 2: The world's changing. College football is changing now. You can let we can let the snowball effect continue to take place where it just gets bigger and bigger and worse and worse, to where the actual product itself itself goes downhill, or we can fix it the ESPN this wee can get last week and get up Josh Pat the way he was talking about the biggest problem is the schedule. That's how you fix most of this. You can still play your bowl games and have all that have fun kids that are outside the playoffs, but like playing games would have happened this past weekend, the first round is coming up this Saturday. 02:00:58 Speaker 1: I love to play in. 02:00:59 Speaker 2: I love this December football, Dame, I love December, all cult football. Jan one, we're finding out who are national champions. 02:01:05 Speaker 10: Bowl games are they don't mean anything. You take those like Mitch just saying those teams that are on that bubble. This play in weekend is now sponsored by those bowls. So like your Sugar Bowl whatever, those big rosebaying. So you still get that to narrow that you're talking about, have a chance for the play in. You try and make everyone happy by getting competition on the field to fight for a chance at the playoff. Also, you have all those major companies that sponsored bowl, the big bowl games make their to narrow. I just don't know why we're not moving towards that. Maybe they will and I agree. Going to more teams, you're gonna run into an issue where Okay, so now you want the twenty fourth best team right in Well that's happening. 02:01:51 Speaker 2: Right now with JMU. 02:01:52 Speaker 1: Yeah. 02:01:52 Speaker 7: The viewership I think on these two will be you can make money. 02:01:57 Speaker 2: People. Could you imagine teams playing for their the I mean college football is exactly what this is, but you're playing for your winning get in good. 02:02:07 Speaker 8: Yeah, any college any college football fan would love to watch those games rather than like the fucking random ass Bowl that nobody give gives a shit about. 02:02:16 Speaker 2: Imagine watching Miami versus Texas. 02:02:18 Speaker 7: Like imagine watching Van Diy versus b y. 02:02:21 Speaker 2: U Fanny verse six rematch. But I'm thinking about the you know, different conference. Yeah, like the thought of like other teams playing each other neutral site. That's a neutral site right then the next I think the next two weeks after that need to be whoever the higher seat is? That to me fires me up. Have your national championship in a neutral site location that is always in forever will be fair to me. Yeah, ye I does anybody see any holes in that common section? You need to speak up because just kind of spit it. 02:02:49 Speaker 1: There where we're we're in a spot we will never forget this year of the bracket that the college foot will playoff. I think it's going to create an urgency to fix some things going on. Uh yeah, dude, chaos. 02:03:02 Speaker 2: Chaos. 02:03:03 Speaker 1: He got clarkly here. That's no one, no one's fault except our own. We had our opportunities and we didn't do enough. We're not victims in this process. Our ownership is in coming up short. 02:03:12 Speaker 2: Listen clark Lee, like that quote right there, that's exactly what you want in that building. I don't have im well he you don't give a shit about ball games, like we're gonna you guys can play, Guys will sit out or not sit out. But we had it even that. The product of the product of bowl games are crazy too, because all the players, all the players that are going to go to the draft, the play the thing that you buy a ticket or I can't wait to watch this player play. Well, that player that's playing, he's not there. He's going to be in the portal or he's going to be going to the draft. 02:03:40 Speaker 10: I think the coolest part about the clark Lee statement is it came after Notre Dame took their ball and went home. 02:03:47 Speaker 1: I'm telling you this is a massive war going on with conferences and Notre Dame's independence. Yeah, yeah, I agree with that, because if you if you take if we're if say we're in the scope right now and we're talking about Clark Lee's quote coming out after Notre Dame. Let's make this about Clark Lee him being in a conference in Notre Dame, because Notre Dame is continuing to fight for their independence. Because every person who's mad bring up the tier talk. Shuream, we have a tier talk here from d d MO at sixty one. Notre Dame can join a conference or shut the fuck up hashtag tier talk again. Anybody who can be in Notre Dame's position to have their independence, they would want that. And what everybody that's part of a conference is doing is being like, hey, this is how you get punished when you're not being in a conference. Because take Vanderbilt. If Vanderbilt had Notre Dame's record, schedule everything, and they're part of I know they played a bunch of ACC teams or whatever else, but if Andy had that resume, Vanderbilt would be going in because they wouldn't have lost Obama, they wouldn't have lost to Texas like they'd be out there. We lost one point to Texas A and m we lost to a tough Miami team. They would be in like in that situation, if it's not Notre Dame and somebody in a conference, those teams are getting that team would get in the way. Notre Dame finished on a ten win winning streak. 02:04:56 Speaker 10: Notre Dame ideally has the right situation, right, But they, like you're saying, are getting punished for it. 02:05:02 Speaker 5: Right. 02:05:02 Speaker 1: It's like they're they're on the wrong side of it, get getting pushed out of it. Be like, hey man, you're not part of a conference there, and Notre Dame should if they're want to keep their independence, they're trying to do the right thing strategically to continue to hold their conference and not bend the knee on joining one. Yeah, all right, listen, you're taking us out of the playoffs. We all know it was absolute bullshit, and we're gonna you know, we're gonna to sit out of our bowl game. We're going to know that we had this this uh part of a contract sign that gets if we're part of the top twelve. We're gonna get an automatic bid that we have a very easy schedule next season. Because they do, they're gonna sit there and talk, shit, we're gonna kill everybody that's in our way, Like, yeah, you got an easier schedule, they have it set up. I understand people hating Notre Dame. I understand the argument for Notre Dame. It's a there is a bigger war going on with all this conference to what happens. 02:05:46 Speaker 2: Bigger war looks like you found out what the war was. 02:05:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe we're breaking it down a little bit. I'll keep diving into my reddit, to my reddit language later on to figure next year. 02:05:56 Speaker 5: Now that. 02:05:58 Speaker 10: Using Texas Ohio State, for example, that first game of the year, no one's going to schedule that anymore. 02:06:02 Speaker 2: Well, he actually has talked about that. He said, we're gonna honor our games with Ohio State and Michigan because I mean they went up north and played both us, Like, yeah, bring your asses down here to Austin, Texas. Now they's gonna honor those two. After that, there's no promises, which is a bad thing for football. It's a bad thing for football, but it's it's an understandable strategic move, and it seemed like Nebraska's a little ahead of themselves also because we sat here, what June July when Nebraska's like, we're not playing Tennessee in the regular season, Like why would you? Why would you make it harder on yourself? If you have a logo and a conference that'll be like, we're gonna get in. 02:06:35 Speaker 10: So when that happens in Notre Dame is the twelfth team, like the what if they're not the twelfth team because now Ohio State's playing ECU instead of Texas. 02:06:47 Speaker 2: And so the or Texas is playing a smart team Exactly. 02:06:51 Speaker 10: The stronger teams in a conference aren't going to have that chance to drop one extra one. So Notre Dame, you can play sam for like you're gonna play all these teams, so not gonna help you against It's not gonna. 02:07:06 Speaker 1: In n IU, Yeah, yeah, Northern Island. 02:07:08 Speaker 10: The resume is not gonna help you get in that twelve spot. 02:07:11 Speaker 1: True. Now we're Notre Dames sitting at now like in the AP they're in the top ten college rankings, they're in the what were they who knows either way? The first went out whatever? Uh by opting out of a bowl game, they have they're not risking anything on having a bad performance, So that way they'll go into the rankings next year preseason with the loaded roster, one of the best recruiting classes year and in year out. They're gonna be their position with an easier schedule. They take care of that schedule. I mean, they're they're clearly gonna be in Here's what Notre Dame as they will if their positioned in like the top twelve coming out of the gate in season and then they win all of their games like they're not gonna So. 02:07:45 Speaker 10: You would put a Notre Dame, say they had one loss next year one loss, Notre Dames schedule in or rank them higher than an SEC Big ten team with two losses. 02:07:59 Speaker 1: I have no clue. 02:08:00 Speaker 2: It depends where. It depends where they start and the A people, it depends who they lost to. Here's what Notre Dame is going to in a Notre Dame hood, right, because if Notre Dame ops out and have the big recruiting class of a bunch of guys coming back, obviously Jeremiah Love is probably know the NFL. If they're going to be ranked in the top ten and their schedule is very easy next year, then yeah, it's in their hands. What is going to be an issue is if Notre Dame ever plays a difficult schedule and they have themselves sitting in that thirteen to twelve area, and if this war is still going on the way we think the war's going on, then you bet your ass the Committee's gonna have them at thirteen. 02:08:34 Speaker 1: People are saying for Notre Dame to get back at whatever again, whatever war they are fighting right now, they would try and hurt the ACC by scheduling games some with the Big ten because of their rights and everything else. I have no clue, but people are talking about all the strategy Notre Dame is looking at doing currently since they've been pushed out of the play. 02:08:53 Speaker 11: Their schedule next year is horrendous. By the way, the two best teams they are playing are Miami and USC. You could argue for s m U. 02:09:03 Speaker 6: I feel like the question people aren't asking is since when do Catholics pull out? 02:09:14 Speaker 2: Hey? I got so blindsided by that. 02:09:16 Speaker 1: I know, I thought he was gonna have some serious I was like, oh man, a different perspective. Damn, I can't wait to hear what this is and listen to everybody we can't use contraceptives. 02:09:26 Speaker 2: What are we doing here? 02:09:27 Speaker 1: Yeah? That is that's funny. 02:09:28 Speaker 7: Jack. 02:09:31 Speaker 1: Another thing two people are talking about was how the Tuesday Show of dropping the rankings every week kind of like, you know, looking back on it, it's like, hey, you should have just done away with the Tuesday Rankings show because had we known nothing and sleucch and Sunday happened yesterday, I don't think anybody would have been surprised that Miami would have clipped Notre Dame. 02:09:50 Speaker 2: That will not happen because of money. 02:09:53 Speaker 1: It's just true. 02:09:54 Speaker 2: If you're gonna have every Tuesday like for the last three four weeks, everybody does not. 02:09:58 Speaker 1: Like waited for Tuesdays, every minute of it. 02:10:01 Speaker 2: Spoiler. I did not watch one, but I'm sure a lot of people out there are like, oh man, I gotta fucking see. I'm just waiting for the little graft to come out by oh shit. 02:10:09 Speaker 3: You know. 02:10:09 Speaker 11: Yeah, well then it brings out the whole tinfoil hat discussion of this playoff essentially being owned by ESPN. ESPN's hands on the conferences, a lot of people are saying, if Virginia Hat beat Duke Virginia's in Notre Dame is in as well Virginia because they need a ACC because ACC would have I mean, Hell would have broken loose. So they're like, what is the less of all the evils. Piss off Alabama, piss off Notre Dame, or piss off the ACC. Let's piss off the independent conference or the independent team that we have been trying to bully into joining a conference. And not just ESPN, Fox as well. A lot of these conferences are wanting Notre Dame to join their conference. 02:10:55 Speaker 1: It's and what network is the ACC partnered with? 02:10:58 Speaker 2: ESPN? No, no, no, it's just it's we did the old cast. 02:11:04 Speaker 1: You talk like this, I'm just saying, man, I gotta be. 02:11:06 Speaker 2: But that's what people are arguing is that this excuse me, Bob Bigger. I want to apologize for Confident the things that he have said. 02:11:13 Speaker 1: We love the CFP. 02:11:14 Speaker 2: His opinions are not mine. But yeah, that's crazy, but it is. 02:11:18 Speaker 11: It is crazy, And a lot of people are saying that ownership it either needs to be by multiple entities so that there's not this kind of behind the curtain conversation that the public is then never privy to and they won't ever come out and say, hey, b Yu was never gonna make it. 02:11:35 Speaker 10: They'll never have an explanation of why, and. 02:11:37 Speaker 1: Say they having a SEC representative was never part of the conversation. Oh, it's like, come on. 02:11:46 Speaker 10: Notre Dame instead of like a JMU or two lane. 02:11:50 Speaker 1: But I can't. 02:11:52 Speaker 10: But like, if you're gonna, now's the time to fucking rewrite, right. 02:11:57 Speaker 1: But I'm saying, if they were to do that, like that is actually it's a lee. 02:12:00 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I kept saying. Josh Pay. Josh Pay kept telling me that this is actually illegal. The rule. 02:12:06 Speaker 8: The rule is the five highest ranked conference champs and that's where those two fall in is because of them, and like that's the rule. That's legal. But it's also like in legal writing that at least one g G five has to come. 02:12:19 Speaker 1: I think committee is absolutely. So everybody is like, yes, this kind of sucks that we have two G five's in this college. 02:12:25 Speaker 2: It does. But when they get mopped, and I hope they do no disrespect to the G fives, I hope they get fucking mopped so we can all just sit there and be like, Kay, let's time to change legislation because here's what the G fives and I know, I guess I've caught a lot of heat from the Jurassic Park thing. And it's like the opinion doesn't change, like the truth. The truth doesn't care about your feelings in the situation, like your schools aren't built to compete with the top twelve teams in college football. 02:12:50 Speaker 1: They aren't. 02:12:51 Speaker 2: And the world we live in now, you're a stepping stone school to get to the next place. G fives are holding on to Boise State versus Oklahoma, Fiesta Ble, that's what they're holding on to. And if a G five is undefeated and they're mopping all the teams in their conference, hell yeah, put them in. This seems like the team they can actually make a little bit of dent. Let's see what happens. Then put them in. Absolutely, but to happen, huh year was good? 02:13:16 Speaker 1: What happened to them. 02:13:17 Speaker 7: I mean, they didn't get blown out by Penn State, but they obviously lost. 02:13:20 Speaker 2: There was never in question. 02:13:22 Speaker 1: But they earned their way up there, and they were ranked a certain way to where they're only metrics of like being in the College Football player. 02:13:29 Speaker 8: Boise States only lost it last year was like by three points to Oregon. Yeah, they had the best player in college football with Ashan Genty. So like I feel like last year Boise State was warranted to be in it. 02:13:40 Speaker 1: This year, yeah, G five is like undefeated or whatever. They're in the top fifteen. They've like earned their way into the College Wable playoffs. But doing it this year just feels like it's like, Okay, let's put the champion of the CFL now gets to be the last seed in the NFL playoffs. They get an automatic bid to the to the NFL playoffs. 02:14:01 Speaker 11: It would be fun for that argument exactly two of the playing games. That is a perfect excuse for the playing games with those G five teams, and you have some like fun storylines to follow and underdog story. 02:14:16 Speaker 4: If you, if you guys are who you say you are and you love chaos, you'd be rooting for the G five teams to win in the playoff. 02:14:23 Speaker 1: No, because ultimately I want the twelve best teams in the college who will playoff. 02:14:27 Speaker 2: You don't want chaos, No, we want kiss in the sense that we're sitting here right now after the chaos we've wanted to unfold. The reality is is like these G fives we the chaos. We want well I'll speak for me. The chaos that I want is for exactly what happens so that change is made. Because at the end of the day, I would love like the way we just put together this playing thing we get we get on mass championships on Jan. One, like that's college football season. Then the portal opens Jan. Two, like, which doesn't it already? The Church reportal, Yeah, start entering today. Basically, Buddy, I cannot wait to see how this transfer portal takes place as I. 02:15:05 Speaker 1: Think about it, though, j JP, you might be onto something. That's what I'm saying, Like for any g fuss you know, JMU two Lane, you're out there watching this right now. Willis's kind of I'm here to get recruited. Make that run. 02:15:16 Speaker 12: I'm not starts winning like they be Ole Miss, which could happen. You know, Lane's gone and they make a little run. You guys would hate that. Or no, no, no, Lane wins their first game. I will be into Lane gear the next week. 02:15:29 Speaker 2: Hey, hey, same thing, same as that. Like, listen, I don't think they have any business being in the playoff. If either of these teams win, I am one hundred wrong. Take all my opinions, throw in the trash and I will also be in whatever gear wins, So keep the playoff. 02:15:45 Speaker 1: The same way. Then if one of them wins, is what you're saying. 02:15:47 Speaker 2: No, we'll have that conversation later. 02:15:51 Speaker 4: The only other thing that bothers me with like all of the rule making of college football. I hate when we that we have to sit here and say, oh no, like it's it's written into law, we have to take it to court. I'm like, why, man, this is college football? 02:16:05 Speaker 2: Right? 02:16:05 Speaker 4: Why what are we doing one even spending tax money on like having this be something that we're that we're paying for too. It's just like the greatness of college football is in the power of the people, dude. It's taking there, taking the power from the people. 02:16:20 Speaker 2: There's so many things that are backwards. You're like, why is the committee full of ads? 02:16:23 Speaker 7: Right? 02:16:24 Speaker 2: Like, it's like you have a bunch of ads who I'm assuming some of them will probably working through coaching changes. 02:16:30 Speaker 1: There's one who's on the committee. There's one very good one, dude. 02:16:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, Like you're gonna tell me you're the ad of a school your coach has left and you have to hire a new coach. And then they're like, hey, do you mind having taking five ten minutes, but all of your energy into collegeball playoffs. That's crazy, dude, that's crazy. You want twelve individuals and Josh Payton the room or eleven individuals and Josh Papon. 02:16:55 Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind if they kept Troy Dannon ad from Nebraska. He's on the committee. 02:17:00 Speaker 2: I think nothing. You need to have people that understand all You need to have number people and people that understand football. You need to put them into a room and their sole focus is what is the best thing for college football? Who are the most deserving and who are the best teams to be the top twelve teams. 02:17:13 Speaker 8: You can't be having these people that are fucking eighty years old watching football as if they know what the fuck is going on they could. 02:17:19 Speaker 1: Let's not just take shots at all eighty year olds out there, bro, Like there's some dudes who are sikos. You didn't meet Josh Pai's dad. You didn't meet Josh Pay's dad. 02:17:28 Speaker 8: Like Josh paid is the way Josh paid is because of Josh Paid's dad. Like, I'm sure he's a fucking legend. Yeah, so what I'm saying these people here? 02:17:41 Speaker 1: Yeah, so eighty year old like there could be some cats that are still to understand what they're talking about. Listen, some I would love to be in the room. I'd love to be in the room with the comman. 02:17:49 Speaker 2: Would love to sit there and have these types of conversations like the commansion we're happening right now is how I would hope the committee is having these types of conversations right. 02:17:58 Speaker 1: No, it's not. 02:17:58 Speaker 2: They're looking at a computer screen that go, well, makes sense, But our interests are X, Y and Z. Let's move these two couple of things. Yes, and then you get a couple of sickos like us to go sit in the room and be like, hey, listen, this is what the world wants. This is what the world needs. 02:18:15 Speaker 4: It should take two or three days to like change a rule in college football. Yeah, what's the worst thing that happens? You mess up? Dang, we we missed on a football game this year. Let's fix it. 02:18:26 Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I don't get, Like, hey, like Duke wins, and then immediately we'll just say group chat, the group chat of the committee gets hit up. We got to get a rule in over the next twenty four hours. 02:18:40 Speaker 9: Works. 02:18:43 Speaker 2: He's in They're so old I don't know the group chat works. 02:18:45 Speaker 1: Oh they don't know. 02:18:47 Speaker 2: I mean, Mitch hate's old people. That's figured out on this shows. 02:18:52 Speaker 1: The average college football committee playoff committee is sixty one. 02:18:58 Speaker 2: I don't think that's bad. 02:18:59 Speaker 1: Again, I don't have I'm not disrespecting my elders whatsoever, Mitch. If you want to disrespect your elders, going ahead. 02:19:06 Speaker 2: You've you've already have. He've already crossed the lines. 02:19:09 Speaker 1: These guys are like eighty in there. 02:19:11 Speaker 2: Jeez, yeah, should we hit a couple of tear tungs? Do we feel good? Is there any other things we want to talk about as far as college football goes? Oh, clump, go ahead with it. The Hey, first off, don't ever raise your hand like that again. Man, like you wanted something to say that you put that. He goes like this, he goes, he hit the shoulder on me. It's like, buddy, fucking put it up. 02:19:32 Speaker 1: The Heisman trophy. We want to talk about that at all. 02:19:35 Speaker 2: It should absolutely be Diego Povian. 02:19:39 Speaker 1: It's gonna be hey, odds really shift into a fan, no doubt to MEAA, but it's gonna be hard. If you're a massive Mendoza fan and you saw that postgame interview. Look at interviews. 02:19:52 Speaker 2: Interview shouldn't win you a trophy. 02:19:53 Speaker 12: Mendoza's stats are just disrespectful to the Heisman Trophy. 02:19:57 Speaker 1: I think Mendoz is a great player. Interview. I agree. 02:19:59 Speaker 12: I'm not disrespecting him in any way. But he is on an elite football team, an elite coached football team. They're top five and rushing, top five defense. He hasn't even thrown for three thousand yards. He's gonna win the Heisman Trophy. That is a disgrace to the Heisman Trophy. 02:20:14 Speaker 1: It should absolutely be Diego Pavia. 02:20:17 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's oh, here we go. 02:20:19 Speaker 1: Stats. 02:20:19 Speaker 12: Since November first, Diego Pavia has thrown for one fund ninety four yards and twelve touchdowns. Fernando Mendoza has thrown for one thousand, fifty seven yards and only nine touchdowns. 02:20:28 Speaker 1: But that's not even I mean, we're that doesn't even include the run game. Yeah, touchdowns and rush yards that Diego has. It's crazy. And the way that Vandy has just been playing as of late, it does suck that they that they're not looking at a playoff opportunity. 02:20:41 Speaker 10: So if Diego had one more game to prove himself what do you think would have happened. 02:20:47 Speaker 2: Right, that's a that's a great question, Like if the SEC, if these championships, if these conference championships don't matter for the playoffs, then we shouldn't have any weight in the conference championship players playing in their stat line to go into the Heisman Trophy. Correct, it should have stayed. Okay, this is this is the sample size you have to work with. Now we go in and give out the Heisman Trophy. I agree, I think. 02:21:10 Speaker 7: Dude. 02:21:10 Speaker 2: I mean that's a great point, ge Like, if it doesn't matter for the teams, what does it matter for the individual player? Yeah, buddy, we fucking did it. 02:21:19 Speaker 1: You could have the playing games too. 02:21:21 Speaker 2: That's crazy to think, right, Like we really kind of figured it out today. 02:21:24 Speaker 5: Really hard playing. 02:21:26 Speaker 12: Games, playing games need to games happened. Diego Pavi would be another game for a chance to show that he's the Heisman. 02:21:33 Speaker 2: Trophy and his stats are already above and beyond everybody else's. 02:21:35 Speaker 12: He has almost a thousand more yards than Mendoza, by the way, totally yards. 02:21:42 Speaker 1: We need that graphic made clump so we can continue to push for Pavia. 02:21:45 Speaker 12: Yeah again, I hate hating on Fernana Mendoza because I actually think he's a good player. But against Oregon and Ohio State, two hundred and eighteen yards passing, one touchdown, one interception, his average against top teams, that's that's a good thing. 02:22:00 Speaker 1: Her downthrow though, let's give him. 02:22:01 Speaker 2: The high and listen, we're talking about a Heisman Trophy winner, like Fernanda Mendoza is a good football player, have a very long career in the NFL. I have a lot of respect for him. Hope some day he comes on the bus. But if we're talking about who should win the Heisman Trophy, it's like this is a year where we're talking about who, but we don't know. It's probably gonna go to Fernando based on his odds. Right now, it should just clearly be Diego's going to win this. Clearly he's the guy that should win the Heisman Trophy. 02:22:23 Speaker 12: Or if you want to get crazy, at least Jacob Rodriguez, like, at least mix it up. 02:22:27 Speaker 1: Yeah, like that to me would still be he. 02:22:29 Speaker 2: Threw a couple of those iron ts though, right, Yeah, that's where you gotta put him down. Then I gotta put them down. 02:22:34 Speaker 1: Put them quads, those quads, man. 02:22:40 Speaker 2: But I'll tell you what. The reason why, the reason why Diego is not gonna win. This has to do with the logo, but it's also his process off the field, the way he knows himself off the field. It hurts him in this and that sucks to say it because it should only matter what you do in the field. 02:22:58 Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, Jack, Jack, who you got for the highest. 02:23:00 Speaker 6: Fernando Mendoza, man my highs and winners, hugging women in wheelchairs. 02:23:05 Speaker 9: The other guy flexing at USC yet again. So and that good for him? I hope, I hope he has a long pro. 02:23:11 Speaker 6: I wish we were at the UFC this but look there people are discrediting the rely Quest Bowl too, like that's awesome for Vanderbilt, Like that's a huge game. So congratulations toodores. Uh Tennessee's and the Music City Bowl. 02:23:30 Speaker 1: One Music City Bowl. Yeah, we got it for the game in. 02:23:35 Speaker 9: Ten years, which is great. It'll be fun, but you know, you guys, sucks for him. 02:23:41 Speaker 1: Yeah, Nebraska is about to beat Utah's ass in Vegas. Pre Nebraska making some moves now, are we going going the coordinator? Yeah yeah, yeah, fired the old line coach they got in Uh old buddy from Georgia Tech who's been known to have some good offensive line. 02:24:00 Speaker 12: Did you guys see James Franklin hired Brent Prye. 02:24:03 Speaker 1: Back as the defensive coordinator. 02:24:04 Speaker 12: Yeah, time he got fired, he was like emotional about it because they coached together before when he took the job. Franklin was emotional that they fired him because of what he built there. So pretty cool that they brought him back. 02:24:14 Speaker 1: Yeah, and cool too that they have a good enough relationship him in the school coach probably in the school that yeah, he's it was kind of probably an easy transition for him to go back. 02:24:23 Speaker 2: Dude, vaw Tech. I'll tell you what's gonna happen to Like h with Penn State, Like we're gonna look back in two three years with the signing, the class that they've had with they sounded like two guys that stayed there in the hundreds. As far as recruiting class, they fell off a cliff. Virginia Tech took everybody. I can't wait for three four years when those kids are seniors and Penn State has found themselves back in the top twenty five. And how cool of the story it's going to be. What Matt Campbell has done with Penn State and resurrecting them because it's gonna be bumpy for a couple of years. Now, it's gonna be bumpy. 02:24:52 Speaker 1: That was a good hire though, yeah, knowing that they were kind of botching the entire thing. 02:24:56 Speaker 2: Good hire. According to Josh Pate, do you. 02:24:58 Speaker 1: Have any more tear talks and then we can wrap. I get featured on the show. Use hashtag t your talk. We're gonna get fuck somehow getting in the college football playoff based on what just happened this year will probably the Vanderbilt college football. 02:26:24 Speaker 2: Next year I goes so hard and then the next year will be our year. Can I give a prediction for Michigan for Nebraska? 02:26:34 Speaker 1: Oh God, here we go eight and four incoming? Not even maybe not even eight and four. Go ahead, Shit on us. 02:26:39 Speaker 2: I'm not just shutting on you guys. 02:26:42 Speaker 1: Shit on us. Dude, don't even know why I'm wearing these headphones. 02:26:44 Speaker 2: Still, Okay, Go up, go up, go up, go up, go down, go down, go down, go down. Yeah. I want twenty six. I want twenty six. A lot of us marks with Nebraska's roster going into this offseason. Indiana, Ohio State, go down, Oregon. Eight and four. Yeah, I think eight and four is the floor for Nebraska. That's the floor. Like as you look at Indiana. We gotta assume, right, Ohio State's always a top dog Oregon and then to me, it's like, well, Iowa, you have to at this point, it's like, bro until until they do, you gotta just assume. And so like, I think it's gonna be big if you guys like Washington. Washington's a good ball club. Illinois, they're a good ball club. That's true. 02:27:47 Speaker 1: That is true. 02:27:50 Speaker 2: So yeah, I think eight and four, eight and four, and I think at the listen and I'm not even fucking around. I want to be very serious, like that is a hard funck schedule, right, I can see nine to three, but I feel like it's a most likely eight and four. 02:28:07 Speaker 4: And is that? 02:28:08 Speaker 2: Do you feel some type of way about me saying. 02:28:09 Speaker 1: That I have no emotion? Okay, you talking about a brass. 02:28:15 Speaker 2: Good feel great? 02:28:17 Speaker 1: You end on that tear talk? Did we hear?
