<v Speaker 1>Listen WWE superstar Drew mcintylor, and you're listening to the <v Speaker 1>WWE podcast. <v Speaker 2>The show, the one that everybody wants me. I'll st sixteen, <v Speaker 2>so just rep your ass this mind you can acknowledge <v Speaker 2>me what is going on everybody, and welcome to this <v Speaker 2>episode of this Backdown review. Thank you very much for <v Speaker 2>tuning in once again. Uh is Daniel doing a second <v Speaker 2>episode of the SmackDown review. I'm feeling in for Amanda <v Speaker 2>for the next three weeks, so I've got one more <v Speaker 2>after this, but if you do enjoy the episodes, feel <v Speaker 2>free to check out my main event stuff as well. <v Speaker 2>I post main event shows every single week, talking about <v Speaker 2>the main event matches and also snippets on Raw and <v Speaker 2>SmackDown too, while also providing pl previews and reviews as well. <v Speaker 2>To top one to that main event episode. And yeah, <v Speaker 2>we've got John Cena's final match, which I think probably <v Speaker 2>at the time of this recording, has been concluded, but <v Speaker 2>I haven't watched it yet, so I'm gonna jump on <v Speaker 2>that as soon as I finished recording this episode. <v Speaker 3>Obviously, just been busy with. <v Speaker 2>Life and everything else, but I'll be reviewing that Saturday <v Speaker 2>night's main event on my Main Event review as well, <v Speaker 2>so be sure to check that out. I think they'll <v Speaker 2>come out on a Tuesday morning for you guys, so yeah, <v Speaker 2>looking forward to doing that and also yeah, putting out <v Speaker 2>some content for you there for main event as well. <v Speaker 2>But this is the SmackDown review. Not too much to <v Speaker 2>get through today. I don't think this SmackDown was groundbreaking <v Speaker 2>with anything amazing. We've finished up with a terror twin <v Speaker 2>versus Alista Black and Zelene Vega to end the show. <v Speaker 3>But nothing crazy. <v Speaker 2>I think it was a very subtle SmackDown to get <v Speaker 2>prepared for what will be John Cena's final match. <v Speaker 3>Nothing that really followed that storyline either, So yeah, we'll <v Speaker 3>go through it. <v Speaker 2>We'll start with Cody Rhodes, who came into the ring <v Speaker 2>basically saying that he wanted to talk about Drew McIntyre. <v Speaker 2>He said that Drew claimed that it was unsafe working environment. <v Speaker 2>We obviously had Nick Oldess before this before I forget <v Speaker 2>talking about the fact that Drew McIntire didn't want to <v Speaker 2>come into into SmackDown based on Nick Oldis's tweet basically <v Speaker 2>saying it is unsafe. But yeah, nick Oldis did this <v Speaker 2>on Twitter or an ex basically saying for Drew McIntyre <v Speaker 2>to come back to SmackDown and talk about it. But yeah, <v Speaker 2>Cody Rhodes just went and spoke about this, got upset <v Speaker 2>at the fact that Jews claiming that is an unsafe environment, <v Speaker 2>which is which is quite funny to be honest. Drew <v Speaker 2>just continues to just be amazing on the microphone as well. <v Speaker 2>He basically said that he nearly snatched in bold and yeah, <v Speaker 2>he's talking about how Drew isn't up early doing press <v Speaker 2>conferences and claim that Drew's only half in and that's <v Speaker 2>why he doesn't sweat him. Cody also said if he <v Speaker 2>was Drew's boss, he would fire him, but said he <v Speaker 2>can't fire him, but he can whoop his ass. <v Speaker 3>And as he was. <v Speaker 2>Continuing to talk about Drew McIntire, we had the person <v Speaker 2>who's actually going to be facing at Saturday night's main event, <v Speaker 2>Oba Famine, making his entrance into the ring, cutting out <v Speaker 2>a pretty decent promo. Basically seeing that said that Cody <v Speaker 2>Roads is all fired up tonight, but he's worried about <v Speaker 2>the wrong man. He said that Cody is worried about Drew, <v Speaker 2>but Drew's not here. He also said that the NXT <v Speaker 2>champion is in the building Tonight introduced himself as the Ruler, <v Speaker 2>the Destroyer, the bringer of war, and the mountain you <v Speaker 2>cannot climb or conquer. He also reminded Cody that they're <v Speaker 2>facing off at Satday Night's main event, which I think <v Speaker 2>Cody really needs to focus on, and said that he's <v Speaker 2>gonna knock on Cody's front door and tell him that <v Speaker 2>the future. <v Speaker 3>Is now, It's here and is now for me. <v Speaker 2>And basically Cody replied saying that he's glad oberlooks up <v Speaker 2>to John Cena like Cody does, and that he's the <v Speaker 2>man who beat John Cena for the championship and that's <v Speaker 2>where they both flex their titles and stared off at <v Speaker 2>each other. Just a pretty much hype Saturday Night's main <v Speaker 2>event match. I did predict that Cody Rhodes will win <v Speaker 2>this match, but now that I've seen what Drew McIntyre <v Speaker 2>has done in this promo, I kind of think that <v Speaker 2>Drew McIntyre is going to have something to say when <v Speaker 2>it comes to Saturday Night's main event. Whether he interferes <v Speaker 2>the match and helps oberwin, I'm not too sure, but <v Speaker 2>because we haven't seen him on SmackDown. We should be <v Speaker 2>seeing him on Saturday Nights main event. It would make <v Speaker 2>the most sense there. But then we have Ilia dragon <v Speaker 2>off backstage with Nason Fraser Axiom taling Ilia if THEOI <v Speaker 2>tries anything, He's got Ilia's back. He said that he <v Speaker 2>appreciates it, but doesn't want it. Basically said he wants <v Speaker 2>to carry the US title with honor and said that <v Speaker 2>Champer has spat on everything the title means in the <v Speaker 2>last couple of weeks, again mentioning John Cena, which I <v Speaker 2>feel like was the trend on this backdown since he's <v Speaker 2>the one that started the open challenge. He'll never he <v Speaker 2>has never backed down from a fight. So basically, Ilia <v Speaker 2>calls out Chumper and Champer finally gets his match. They <v Speaker 2>probably didn't necessarily earn, but he found a way to <v Speaker 2>really piss Ilia off again. I like the fact that <v Speaker 2>Ilia is a fighting champion and we are having these <v Speaker 2>US title matches, but it just feels like rinse and <v Speaker 2>repeat with him, the fact that he wants to fight <v Speaker 2>with honor and defeat everyone. But yeah, I think the <v Speaker 2>only thing that we're getting from this sort of run <v Speaker 2>is the fact that he's defending it every single week <v Speaker 2>with Honor, which you can sit there and say it's good, <v Speaker 2>but we haven't really seen him connect with the fans <v Speaker 2>on a bit of a promo perspective or having like <v Speaker 2>a massive few that would make this more interesting. That's <v Speaker 2>something that I'd really want to see. But the match <v Speaker 2>itself was actually really really good. We had Ilia Dragonov <v Speaker 2>getting busted wide open in the face and you could <v Speaker 2>see him bleeding out of his out of his mouth, <v Speaker 2>and the match pretty much finished up with Ilia taking <v Speaker 2>the victory after eighteen minutes. And how it finished was <v Speaker 2>that Champer did hit him with the German souplex, then <v Speaker 2>he popped right up straight away Ilia and that and <v Speaker 2>hit a torpeed moscow Headbart knocked Champer down. Johnny Gargano <v Speaker 2>tried to distract the referee Candless Array did a next <v Speaker 2>snap on Ilia, and then Champer hit his niece Mash, <v Speaker 2>which got kicked out, and then as that happened, Ilia <v Speaker 2>then counted Champer and got the victory for a pinfall. <v Speaker 3>So it was a bit of a conniving victory. <v Speaker 2>The distraction from Johnny Gargano and Cancellaray went really wrong, <v Speaker 2>and essentially that's why Ilia, Cannon and got the victory, <v Speaker 2>but after the match, they went and attacked Dragon off <v Speaker 2>and that's where Kamala Hayes made the save knock Champ <v Speaker 2>out the ring hit the springboard clothesline on Gargano and <v Speaker 2>the fans were cheating, cheering for Kamala Hayes, and I <v Speaker 2>think a lot of people want to see Kamala Hayes <v Speaker 2>have the belt. <v Speaker 3>So yeah, he picked up Ilia showed him support. <v Speaker 2>But it looks as though that Kamala Hayes is not <v Speaker 2>done with going for the US title, so we may <v Speaker 2>see Hayes go for it again. I really would love <v Speaker 2>to see Kamela Hayes with the US title. I feel <v Speaker 2>like he would suit it a lot and it'd be <v Speaker 2>a great step in his in his young career. And <v Speaker 2>it seems as though the fans are gravitating towards him <v Speaker 2>and really want to push him as a as a babyface, <v Speaker 2>which I kind of like his heel person of being <v Speaker 2>someone that is cocky and arrogant. But at the same time, <v Speaker 2>if he's getting heat from the fans, and I'm not <v Speaker 2>going to go against the fact that he's a baby face, <v Speaker 2>He's a really good in ring performer and I think <v Speaker 2>he's got the personality, so I wouldn't mind seeing a <v Speaker 2>US title on him. I do know that Toma Tunga <v Speaker 2>has been around and chasing that title, so we may <v Speaker 2>see something between those two before that, But I think <v Speaker 2>the likely person to take the title off Dragon Off <v Speaker 2>would be Kamala Hayes in my opinion as well. We <v Speaker 2>then had a backstage segment with Javon Evans saying that <v Speaker 2>he's excited about having a match at Satay Night's main event, <v Speaker 2>and then the Miss basically came on complained about Evans <v Speaker 2>being on it the card and not him. He pointed <v Speaker 2>out that Evans wasn't even a line alive when johnson. <v Speaker 3>A debuted, which is quite crazy. <v Speaker 2>Jovonne Evans is so young and he's been just killing <v Speaker 2>it on NXT and even his stins on WWE. Then <v Speaker 2>Evans caused the Miss Ikan said that he's not his <v Speaker 2>young bell was quite funny, and then Evans then toiled <v Speaker 2>them is that he had two chances and lost. He <v Speaker 2>also claimed that or Miss claimed that the wrestlers on <v Speaker 2>there on a level that Evans doesn't know, and then <v Speaker 2>they set up basically set up a match and Miss <v Speaker 2>said he talked to Nick Olders and basically threatened him <v Speaker 2>to say that he won't be able to make it <v Speaker 2>to Saturday night's main event after this, so we haven't <v Speaker 2>matched against Javon Evans and the miss On SmackDown later on, <v Speaker 2>which we'll obviously talk about as well. We then had <v Speaker 2>the Wyat six come out with Uncle Howdy and he <v Speaker 2>basically sat in the ring with the rocking chair said <v Speaker 2>that Solo may not have the power to look within himself, <v Speaker 2>but they do Howd. He also said that the reality <v Speaker 2>is that Solo's real family all turned his back on him, <v Speaker 2>which is very true. He also said that Solo uses <v Speaker 2>and blute abuses those who he claims to love. He <v Speaker 2>said that he's disillusion and he's out of mind. He <v Speaker 2>also mentioned that he's delusional because the MFT runs back down. <v Speaker 2>Howdy also said that the MFT has run nothing while <v Speaker 2>the White Six have the tag team titles and said <v Speaker 2>if Solo and his family tree want the titles, come <v Speaker 2>and get them. And Solo's music played, but then he <v Speaker 2>was actually appearing backstage so didn't come out. He was <v Speaker 2>with the MFTs and basically said that did they think <v Speaker 2>they were going to show up on their terms. <v Speaker 3>He said, it doesn't work like that. Solo said he's <v Speaker 3>calling the shots. <v Speaker 2>He told them that he's going to do things his way, <v Speaker 2>and he said that next week they're going to come <v Speaker 2>for the tag team titles. So if you don't give <v Speaker 2>the tag team titles, then all both Dallas can do <v Speaker 2>or Uncle Howdie can do is run And that was <v Speaker 2>a really good one. There was another tribute to. <v Speaker 3>Bray Wyatt, and I. <v Speaker 2>Do like the fact that they're having promos between each other, <v Speaker 2>something different to what we've normally seen, So I think <v Speaker 2>it's just it's good to see. You could say that <v Speaker 2>Bo Dallas's promo didn't really have much there, but it <v Speaker 2>was a call out to Solo, so I kind of <v Speaker 2>I kind of liked it nonetheless, and I think that <v Speaker 2>I'm excited for that feud between the two. <v Speaker 3>I think it's going to be a great feud. <v Speaker 2>I am interested to see how again, I mentioned this <v Speaker 2>last week, how the White Six will go with basically <v Speaker 2>being four v five if you don't count Niki Cross <v Speaker 2>being involved in the match too. But it's a very <v Speaker 2>good feud at the moment for the tag team titles, <v Speaker 2>and it's something that I think has been needed for <v Speaker 2>for a long time, just two big faction. <v Speaker 3>Groups just going at it against each other. <v Speaker 2>We then have Alexa Bliss taking on Lash Legend and <v Speaker 2>this was a massive surprise. <v Speaker 3>They gave the victory to. <v Speaker 2>Lash Legend, which is massive. They really trying to push <v Speaker 2>lash Legend over, which is great. And how sort of <v Speaker 2>the match finished was that Bliss went for a DDT <v Speaker 2>but basically Lash caught her and hit it with the <v Speaker 2>Lash extension, where basically it's a nice finishing move to <v Speaker 2>be honest, but yeah, it was a great and it <v Speaker 2>only went for four minutes, which made it more significant. <v Speaker 2>We obviously had Flair and Naya Jacks on the floor <v Speaker 2>essentially attacking each other there and then Lash hitting the <v Speaker 2>pump kick on Flair and that's. <v Speaker 3>When we did see the counter move there. So I <v Speaker 3>think lash Legend is new. <v Speaker 2>They really want to push her forward, and she's shown <v Speaker 2>great strengths and was really good in the rings she <v Speaker 2>held up on her own, and I think she's someone that, <v Speaker 2>like again I'll say it again, has more talent and <v Speaker 2>potential than Jade Cargile, if I'm being quite honest. So <v Speaker 2>I'm excited to see how Nia Jackson and Lash Legend <v Speaker 2>go together if they do win the titles, if they <v Speaker 2>just continue to just be a tag team going forward, <v Speaker 2>because I think it's doing a lot for Nia Jacks, <v Speaker 2>but it's also doing more for Lash Legend and putting <v Speaker 2>her over. <v Speaker 3>It just seems like it's been great as well. <v Speaker 2>We then have the match between the Miz and Javon Evans. <v Speaker 2>We had Javon Evans getting the victory with the Oji <v Speaker 2>Cutter after nine minutes as well. This would have to <v Speaker 2>be the biggest win in Javon Evans' career. Definitely, defeating <v Speaker 2>a WW superstar is huge, but it makes sense as <v Speaker 2>to why he did win given the fact that he <v Speaker 2>is going to be fighting up against Ah Styles and <v Speaker 2>Dragon Ly let's say night's main event with Leon Slater there. <v Speaker 2>So giving Javon Evans the much needed momentum was probably <v Speaker 2>something that was really important, but also makes sense, and <v Speaker 2>I respect the Mis just continuing to be able to <v Speaker 2>put guys over. I think that's such an underrated thing <v Speaker 2>of the miss. He's always been able to just put <v Speaker 2>the young and upcoming stars over. He did it with <v Speaker 2>Daniel Bryan, He's done it here with Javon Evans, and <v Speaker 2>he's done it on multiple occasions as well. <v Speaker 3>And you know, miss looks still pretty decent in the ring. <v Speaker 2>Like we know he's probably not gonna win a match, <v Speaker 2>but again, it's just great to see that he's still <v Speaker 2>got it. <v Speaker 3>And I think he's. <v Speaker 2>Widely respected across WWE fans as well, and he just <v Speaker 2>does a really good job as a heel, Like his <v Speaker 2>best work is as a heel. Don't really love him <v Speaker 2>as a babyface. I've just always loved him as a heel. <v Speaker 2>But again, Javon Evans continues just to make strides and yeah, <v Speaker 2>it's not going to be long till we see him <v Speaker 2>on the main roster, especially with his athletic ability, his energy, <v Speaker 2>his young potential, and I think he's going to do <v Speaker 2>a lot of big things in the WWE space. And <v Speaker 2>he's only twenty one years old, which is quite crazy, <v Speaker 2>Like it's hard to believe he's that young as well. <v Speaker 2>We then move on to Real Ripley being shown backstage. <v Speaker 2>That's where Nia Jackson lash legend trash talker. <v Speaker 3>He said. <v Speaker 2>She said that she is the problem that they don't <v Speaker 2>want to have. She also said that if she and <v Speaker 2>Riosky want the tag team titles, they'll have to battle <v Speaker 2>against I guess Nia Jackson Lash Legends, so they're going <v Speaker 2>to be gone for the titles as well as mentioned before, <v Speaker 2>and then we had Damien Price walking up to Ripley <v Speaker 2>saying that he liked her energy but told her to <v Speaker 2>take it easy before their match, and that's where we <v Speaker 2>saw Jake Cargo come out of nowhere, walked up to <v Speaker 2>re Ripley with the women's titles stared, and just walked <v Speaker 2>out for the match as well, which was quite cool. <v Speaker 2>Could we see Real Ripley and Jake Cargo go at <v Speaker 2>each other? <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I do say it's cool to see that sort of interaction, <v Speaker 2>but at the same time, I still don't think Jay <v Speaker 2>Cargle is ready. We did have Mitchin basically about to <v Speaker 2>do a promo and as she was basically shed that <v Speaker 2>she'll be giving everything that she has. It was quite <v Speaker 2>a really cringe promo, but I guess it made sense <v Speaker 2>why I was done later because we had Jade beating <v Speaker 2>up Meachin backstage. <v Speaker 3>And throwing her into the wall. <v Speaker 2>She obviously didn't get ready for the match based on <v Speaker 2>her outfit, and that's where she called for her music, <v Speaker 2>making her entrance and then basically saying that this is <v Speaker 2>what happens when women don't know their place, and said <v Speaker 2>that anyone who steps up can get stepped on because she's. <v Speaker 3>That B word. <v Speaker 2>I do like that she's using that catchphrase. At least <v Speaker 2>there's something that he can linger onto. But again she <v Speaker 2>still fails to get a massive crowd reaction. But Meachin <v Speaker 2>comes out with a kendow stick. Obviously getting hit into <v Speaker 2>the wall isn't going to rule meaching out. <v Speaker 3>Let's be honest. <v Speaker 2>Sometimes it has in the past, but at this point <v Speaker 2>it didn't. She hit Jade a few times with the <v Speaker 2>kendow stick, and then Michi went for a table under <v Speaker 2>the ring, but Jade hit the pump kick pushed the <v Speaker 2>table under the ring some very good He'll heat there <v Speaker 2>like that she did that, and then she went back <v Speaker 2>into the ring and hit the choke slam on Meeching <v Speaker 2>and basically sending another matchup that she is dominating here <v Speaker 2>and she's looking for a challenger, and it looks as <v Speaker 2>though the most appropriate challenger would be Tiffany Stratten. I <v Speaker 2>think that makes the most sense for j Cargle here, <v Speaker 2>given that I think no one else in the locker <v Speaker 2>room really stands a chance, so we might see Tiffany <v Speaker 2>Stratton comeback. <v Speaker 3>They're obviously both advertised for. <v Speaker 2>WrestleMania, so there's a lot of women advertised for that one, <v Speaker 2>and I'm interested to see how they sort of set <v Speaker 2>up the matches for next year, Like I don't actually <v Speaker 2>really know who's going to be champion and who's actually <v Speaker 2>going to be competing for the titles, which is something <v Speaker 2>that I do admire, And yeah, I'm excited to see <v Speaker 2>where the storyline goes. <v Speaker 3>Can Jake Cargile continue. <v Speaker 2>To build up her sort of support and her heel run, <v Speaker 2>because again, it hasn't been too good. Let's be honest, <v Speaker 2>Like she didn't get a match today. We can obviously <v Speaker 2>see that it's her showing that she's a dominant force <v Speaker 2>and whatnot, but I think the reality is is that <v Speaker 2>she's not really ready for longwithstanding combat matches yet, and <v Speaker 2>it's a bit concerning if that is your Women's champion, <v Speaker 2>and even she's not even confident to have long enough promos, <v Speaker 2>which is also concerning too. <v Speaker 3>We want to see her character be more relatable to us. <v Speaker 2>We want to connect with it, even on a negative <v Speaker 2>a positive outspin. We really want to just see that. <v Speaker 2>So again, I think Jay Cargole's got a lot of <v Speaker 2>work or us they're going to have to drop the <v Speaker 2>title if she's not really doing anything here. And then <v Speaker 2>we have the main event, which was Damien Priest and <v Speaker 2>re Ripley taking on Alistair Black and Selena Vega. <v Speaker 3>We had the. <v Speaker 2>Terror Twins getting the victory after nine minutes, a quite <v Speaker 2>short match and again underwhelming, I guess main event with <v Speaker 2>rear Ripley hitting the rip. <v Speaker 3>Tied on Vega. <v Speaker 2>Let's be honest, rear Ripley is simply a mismatch when <v Speaker 2>it comes to Selena Vega anyway, So her dominating and <v Speaker 2>defeating Vega made the most sense. <v Speaker 3>But what does it do with this? <v Speaker 2>With this with this feud, Like we obviously have Damian <v Speaker 2>Priest and Alista Black continuing this feud, but I don't <v Speaker 2>know when the payoff is and I'm sort of getting <v Speaker 2>tired of it because this match doesn't. <v Speaker 3>Really do anything to sort of fix the feud. <v Speaker 2>Like we're gonna obviously see Damian Priest and Alistair Black <v Speaker 2>fighting again, and they're gonna need to because no one <v Speaker 2>pinned anyone. <v Speaker 3>So yeah, I don't know what's happening here feels. <v Speaker 2>As though it's a bit of a filler sort of <v Speaker 2>feud to go up to Wrestle Maine. But again I've <v Speaker 2>made sort of claims and basically mentioned what I thought <v Speaker 2>about Damien Priest and what they're doing with him at <v Speaker 2>the moment, and even Alista Black isn't really doing too <v Speaker 2>much on that side. But honestly, there wasn't anything groundbreaking. <v Speaker 2>The match between Ilia Dragonoff and Tamasta Champell was probably <v Speaker 2>the best match. It was such a great wrestling display <v Speaker 2>from the two stars. Again, I think that's what's good <v Speaker 2>about Ilio Dragonoff. He continues to fight and put on matches, <v Speaker 2>but again, connection with the fans I think is key <v Speaker 2>for him, and the same thing with Jake Cargill as well, <v Speaker 2>and also even with Alista Black and stuff. I think <v Speaker 2>they do do a good job, but they're not even <v Speaker 2>going into the ring and doing much promo work either. <v Speaker 2>It's a lot of backstage staff like this match didn't <v Speaker 2>like move the needle in any way as well, and <v Speaker 2>for a main event, it was just quite underwhelming. I <v Speaker 2>think it was cool to see obviously Real Ripley and <v Speaker 2>Damien Price back together, but it just didn't change the rivalry. <v Speaker 2>I think the feud's going to continue going forward. It <v Speaker 2>just would make the most sense given that they haven't <v Speaker 2>pinned anyone there. But yeah, it's been a nice quick <v Speaker 2>SmackDown review. Thanks very much for listening in today. We're <v Speaker 2>all going to be really excited about John Cena's final match. <v Speaker 2>I think it's gonna be really emotional for me given <v Speaker 2>that it is his final match. <v Speaker 3>I do suspect that he will lose. <v Speaker 2>I just don't know how they're gonna do it, to <v Speaker 2>be honest, I'm interested to see how they will do it. <v Speaker 2>Will John Sena give up on his final match or <v Speaker 2>will they keep that forever that he will never give up. Well, <v Speaker 2>we'll have to wait and see. But again, it's been <v Speaker 2>your boy, Daniel. You've listened to this episode of the <v Speaker 2>SmackDown Review.
