Now here's Matt Jones. 00:01:10 Speaker 3: Welcome back Hour two Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven. We got folks on the phone. I'm going to get back to UK Auburn in a minute. But you know, we can't just do all two hours of this. I wanted to talk about a couple other things, some fun at least one not fun hockey. You watched the last of it. Exciting, exciting. 00:01:30 Speaker 4: I don't even know a lot about hockey, but to see that the way it ended like that for the United States was pretty cool. 00:01:34 Speaker 3: It was awesome, great tent third period was tense, Shannon, did you watch it? 00:01:39 Speaker 2: Saw the end of it? Yeah, I didn't watch the entire thing. 00:01:41 Speaker 3: Did you watch the third period? 00:01:43 Speaker 5: I had it on. I was dialed in, but not completely. 00:01:46 Speaker 3: Just very intense, just back and forth. Canada dominated the third period and just got shot after shot on us, and our goalie was like and he like stopped it was It was great. It was awesome. You also see a whole country thing because I know, you know, I know the Carolina Hurricanes and we had we had a hurricane on the on the Canada team and on America team and they hit each other really yeah, two teammates. One was they were like, look different. 00:02:15 Speaker 4: Country, bag, that's right, playing for your country. 00:02:17 Speaker 3: That's right. Then the guy Jack Hughes, I mean it's almost it could have been a country music video, Shannon right. The kind of the guy Jack Hughes who when I went to the Carolina Hurricanes Devil's game, I got tickets right behind the devil's bench. I have like he was right in front of me. He dates somebody famous and they're all the little girls were going crazy for him. That's the guy who got the shot. He gets the winning shot. He had lost two of his teeth. What a perfect hockey thing. The main guy has lost two teeth and is bleeding out of his mouth and he smiles with the American flag. Come on, what are you gonna do that? 00:02:51 Speaker 4: Picture him with American flag? Great round him is just perfect perfect. 00:02:55 Speaker 5: Yeah, that's like an iconic image. 00:02:57 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's gonna last forever. 00:03:00 Speaker 4: On ice. 00:03:01 Speaker 3: Like if you're a. 00:03:01 Speaker 5: Hockey player and you're having that moment, you know you want your front teeth. 00:03:04 Speaker 3: Yeah, you want two of your fits. The only time in life you would want two of your front teeth. Shannon knocked out right. 00:03:10 Speaker 6: I would say that would be a great endorsement to have as a hockey player, Yes, because then you can. 00:03:14 Speaker 3: Get that's exactly right, the cosmetic dentist that does your team. 00:03:17 Speaker 6: Like there's any If you're a hockey player and you have your teeth, you're a wimpye hockey player, right, that's true. 00:03:22 Speaker 2: Kind of frown on you. You got all your teeth. What are you doing? 00:03:24 Speaker 3: Yeah? And then what a sweet moment. Johnny Godreau they called Johnny Hockey. Remember he was the guy that died. He and his brother were riding bikes at the other brothers wedding. They both died. Uh he was he was, he's good and was on the Olympic team. Obviously. Uh, they brought they brought his kids and they took the team picture with the kids. 00:03:48 Speaker 4: That was cool out there. 00:03:50 Speaker 3: How cool was that his parents After the game, you know, the announcers were crying. Mike Turrico was given like a speech like it was like it was awesome. It was. That was sports and television at its absolute best yesterday morning. If it had been in primetime that would have gotten like highest ratings ever. Oh yeah, it was just so early in the morning. Some people were at church, so they might not have seen it. 00:04:15 Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean those kids were adorable. They've been carrying that jersey around with them for the whole run. I mean that's been a big part of the story. Went on the exact date of the miracle. Yes, I mean, there's so many poetic things to lead that gold that. It was one of those those moments, like the World Cup. In the Olympics, we just all get I don't know much about the roster, even what I'm looking at, but you get so into it. 00:04:37 Speaker 3: I was. I wish that had been in primetime. That would have been a great unifying moment. It's just because it was in the morning. I think not everybody saw it, but still very cool. 00:04:47 Speaker 4: That's what it makes the Olympics special. Man like Drew said, I didn't know one player on the United States team. I saw they had USA on, so I'm pulling like crazy for him. 00:04:54 Speaker 3: Yeah, and the guy who won his brothers on the team they got. There's two brothers. 00:05:00 Speaker 5: I like the scenes of like there was a bar in Miami of Ohio. It looked like a million people in there throwing stuff around at ten in the morning. You just don't get that at many sporting events. 00:05:08 Speaker 3: Very cool and uh uh yeah, so I enjoyed it. Now a couple other things, Well, let's do one sad thing. Ron Dell Moore from Trinity High School played at Purdue, played in the NFL, died of it. Sounds like suicide, right, I thought they're saying, how awful twenty five years old? I mean, just terrible. Played at Trinity under he played Purdue, That's right, just terrible. I remember that famous game where Purdue played Ohio State at night and beat him, and he was like a freshman and he was like a revelat You were like, who is this guy? 00:05:53 Speaker 4: Huh? 00:05:54 Speaker 3: I mean he was insane, just a little dude, just everywhere, just a terrible sad. 00:06:00 Speaker 4: Broke my heart when I heard this yesterday, because he is, without a doubt, one of the top maybe top five high school players football players ever to come out of this state. I mean, he was just really you would say that he was just excited. He was great. He could have gone anywhere, and he follow Jeff Brohm to Purdue, became a superstar up there in the NFL, and man, it just breaks my heart to be so young and you gotta just talk to somebody. Man, if you're having problems, Man, don't be afraid to reach out and talk to somebody. 00:06:25 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I guess he had he hadn't gotten a plot like he got cut from a couple of times. 00:06:29 Speaker 5: He has two preseason season ending injuries back to back, both preseasons, so he missed two entire seasons with injuries, one in training camp and I think one in a preseason game back to back years. 00:06:40 Speaker 3: Well, there's a lot of people listening to this that probably have some sort of relationship with him or or know him, and prayers to everyone in that. That's just a tragic, tragic story and I hate to hear it. Then you have what's happening in Porta Vaarta. Yeah, in Mexico, So I guess the Mexican can police kill the leader of a cartel. And I've read books about these cartels, crazy stuff. Shit like the cartels in Mexico. 00:07:13 Speaker 2: A group of people you do not want to. 00:07:15 Speaker 3: Most and even the police don't want to mess with them usually, but they kill one of them. I don't know the what made them decide to go and do it, because a lot of times they just pay the government off. But now I guess it's the Jalisco. It's what's the name of that region. They have like seven states I think in Mexico this is one of them, and it's where Portavarta is. And is it Tuloom? Is that a place is Are they both there or is it just Portravar? I don't know anyway. Porto Iart I think is like the centerpiece and when he gets killed, it erupts into violence. And of course there are tons of Americans there partying. You were supposed to be. 00:08:01 Speaker 5: There yesterday, my friend's wedding yesterday in ports Wire. I know several people, including my best friend of forty years, is there right now, hunkered down in the resort. 00:08:10 Speaker 3: Family. 00:08:10 Speaker 5: I mean, I know so many. I was invited to this wedding. We weren't able to go something nice. Yeah, they're all hunkered down at the resort. 00:08:16 Speaker 3: Just Americans. Don't leave your room pretty much. 00:08:21 Speaker 4: Are they airports closed? Are they stuck here? 00:08:23 Speaker 3: The closed yesterday? I think they might be back open now. How scared would you be, Shannon if you were there? Yeah? 00:08:31 Speaker 6: And I've never been to Mexico. So first trip to Mexico and you're on shutdown. That would be really. 00:08:38 Speaker 4: Scary situation if they don't leave your room. 00:08:40 Speaker 5: Yeah, he sent me a video there just on the beach yesterday because we saw the news and we all it's you know, we all got that friend group text. We're all like, hey, y'all good down there, And he sends a video of the smoke and it is not far away, like the chaos is just just down the beach from them. 00:08:54 Speaker 3: A lot from what so from what I've read, you know, there becomes kind of a stalemate when these cartels are in charge, like everybody knows who's in charge, and it's kind of corrupt, but there's order, and all of a sudden you take him out and rival gangs are trying to take over, and then people are and then some of the people in the cartel are like trying to retaliate against the police. It would be it burned down at Costco. He burned down a Costco? 00:09:24 Speaker 4: Why at Costco? 00:09:26 Speaker 3: Probably represents and they're stuff in there. 00:09:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, we have a membership to get in there. Yes, it's on fire. 00:09:34 Speaker 3: I don't know, it would be there's a lot like I didn't realize Drew's friends were there until he told us this morning. But that would be a very scary situation. 00:09:41 Speaker 5: Worry about them all day. I don't want to bug them and just blow up their phone. They got a lot going on, but we are trying to check in as often. 00:09:47 Speaker 4: You're talking about this, like an entire family down there for a wedding. There a whole lots of down there as a family. 00:09:52 Speaker 6: But imagine, I mean, they could just set the resort on fire, or like the hotel that you're in. 00:09:55 Speaker 3: Well, I mean a lot of people would say, like from what I've always heard it, in general, they leave those places alone because they don't want to get the American government. You know, if they and that's their economy and that's there, and if you take all these Americans hostage or you do something like the American government is going to retaliate. So there's kind of like this, it's amongst us. We kind of keep them separate. But you know, you if you're there, that may not be said in that moment. 00:10:25 Speaker 2: How long are you stuck? There's the next question. 00:10:27 Speaker 5: I don't know if anyone has a boater or a plane want to go get a few people last night. 00:10:33 Speaker 3: Some private jets left. But the people who were regularly on planes, where. 00:10:36 Speaker 4: When are they supposed to fly home? 00:10:38 Speaker 3: What day? 00:10:38 Speaker 5: They were scheduled tomorrow because the wedding was yesterday. I think they're still figuring all that out. Can only imagine the chaos and what they're having to go through. 00:10:46 Speaker 3: Yeah, and then finally I had little Seth Davis. Yeah, you know he's he's the worst, back and forth with him a little well, okay, So here was the debate is about do the Sunday afternoon conference championship games count in the bracket? Right? All right? Seth Davis was insisting they do. Many years ago, I did the mock bracketing thing that they did for media. Yes, it was like twenty thirteen, and at the time they said we kind of use it, but not really, it's too late in the day. I remember them saying it. Mike Rutherford of Card Chronicle I think he did it. The next year he heard the same thing. And then a guy named Jason Anderson, who was a radio host that used to live in Louisville, he did it. And one time he even tweeted out that they had said that. Okay, and then there was the famous Uka and m in twenty sixteen where we played them in the finals, beat them, and then they were seated higher than that. 00:11:56 Speaker 4: There were three and we were a four if we just. 00:11:59 Speaker 3: Beat them, And I know for a fact I'll take it to court. I know it. I know it. I remember the committee guy saying one of those years, we can't consider it. Do you all remember that? Yes? I know they said that. So Seth Davis gets in this debate online with Mike Rutherford and he's being a jerk to Mike, and Mike's a U of L guy, but still Mike's right, and Seth's going, you know, you all may have misremembered, but I'm telling you Fox, they do. They do consider it. And I'm not saying Seth has not been told they do consider it. But it annoyed me that he was like, you little peasants, you don't remember. I's Seth Davis. I do good. 00:12:52 Speaker 4: Seth Davis. 00:12:54 Speaker 5: Sorr read it on Twitter, that same voice peasants. 00:12:59 Speaker 3: Off with your head. So I take up for mine, yes, and I say, look, man, you may have heard something different, but that doesn't mean these other people are wrong. And he was like, be a reporter, give me facts. Well, shin In like, I'm at that point. I'm like, are you shut up? 00:13:18 Speaker 7: You will? 00:13:18 Speaker 3: Snot? 00:13:19 Speaker 4: Your response to that was really good. 00:13:21 Speaker 3: I'm like, first of all, I'm not a report. Well before that, I say something like, what facts do you have? You're just saying that's what you heard? Why is your word better than mine? And Mike's h right, pissons And then he says, be a reporter, and so I say, I'm not a reporter. Oh and by the way, snothead, neither are you. So for a little background, he's the one that broke the story that Drew and I were getting sued by John Higgins. He called me at work at the TV station and goes, by the way, going to be a lawsuit filed against you. Higgins had worked with him on this. Okay, it's not just that he broke the story. He had it before the case was even filed, which means Higgins had to have told him right sure, And he wrote this story that was not just like we were being accused of it. He wrote that Drew and I did it. He acted like Drew and I went on the radio and said call this man, which we didn't and I told him in the phone call, everything you're writing is false, and he wrote it anyway, and he goes, well, you know that's what he's saying, so that's what we're putting. And it annoyed me because we had audio proof except I'll send you the show and you can hear we didn't say it, and he didn't want it. He refused my audio proof. Annoyed me to know it. Then when we won the lawsuit, I said, will you write a story. You wrote the story that said we were guilty. That story was cited in Sports Illustrating the New York Times as an example of Drew and I being bad guys. Now that we've won, will you write the story that we won. And I'll read you the freaking text he wrote. 00:15:17 Speaker 4: Me, which is classic. 00:15:19 Speaker 3: And I got receipts. 00:15:20 Speaker 4: I hear you, all right, classic. 00:15:23 Speaker 3: I got receipts. Here. I'm pulling it up. Sorry, I didn't have this up. 00:15:27 Speaker 2: Get your receipts seth Davis, Sharpie. 00:15:31 Speaker 4: It's worth it, Sharpie. 00:15:33 Speaker 3: March twentieth, twenty nineteen, Higgins, kate this from me. Higgins, case dismissed. I hope you guys cover it as you did, the filing. Here's his response. Congrats, have you tweeted the news. I will retreat it. As I explained you before. We only published the story at the outset because we had the exclusive. I just check with my editor and we're not going to write a story about this. 00:15:58 Speaker 4: So it him want to have the facts getting away of their sensationalized story. 00:16:02 Speaker 3: And I know he's always gonna be full of it. Oh yeah, for that reason. How he got on these shows, I don't know. He didn't play, I didn't coach, and I'll also note and then I'll shut up. He tweets all the time. Be kind. I do think people should be kind, but he's not kind in the least. 00:16:27 Speaker 4: No, he's not. So I rather enjoyed your little back and forth with him on Saturday. 00:16:33 Speaker 3: You should have seen my well. You know, sometimes you write and then you get a lot of backup from people other places going I can't say this publicly, but there have been three times I've gotten a lot of I can't say this publicly, but that's one of them. Dan Dawkitch, Yeah, Seth Greenberg and Seth Davis. There are a lot of I can't say this publicly. 00:17:02 Speaker 4: But seems to be a common denominator of those three guys. 00:17:06 Speaker 3: I'll say it publicly, but he's a snot be right back. It's a great song. This is a stupid song, Shannon been a good one, right, it's in this border town. 00:17:19 Speaker 2: Foul has a lot of stupid songs. 00:17:21 Speaker 3: He does, but I kind of like him. 00:17:24 Speaker 2: Do you want fries with that? It's another stupid I don't like that one. 00:17:28 Speaker 3: I mean, we've talked many times over the years about Indian Outlaw is kind of a blatantly racist song. And yet I do say half Cherokee and Chuck Toss. It's still a good song. This one is dumb, so is down on the Farm. Yeah, but I do like it. Wanting to Kill You. 00:17:51 Speaker 4: I like timmcgral, I do too. 00:17:53 Speaker 3: I would go see Tim mcgral. You know, Bourbon and Beyond has their days now, Shannon playing each day. Yeah they've loaded up, Yeah, they've loaded up. Saturday and Sunday for me, yeah, those are the days a lot of country Yeah, food Fighters and Joan Jet or Thursday. But I don't know if that's an I don't know. Maybe I just go to the food Fighters. Friday is not really for me, but Saturday and Sunday is loaded. Saturday's Country Day. 00:18:20 Speaker 4: Yes, so it's Chris. 00:18:21 Speaker 3: Stapleton, Red Clay Straits, Jason Isbell, Charlie Crockett, They're all that day. And then Sunday is just like basically millennial nineties Jed X, Like, I mean, it's all of them, Hooty, Counting Crows, Dave Matthews, all those ones. We said, they're all on the same day. 00:18:41 Speaker 4: Better than yeah, so excited. 00:18:43 Speaker 3: Yeah, stop over paying for sungasses. If you're tired of buying expensive sunglasses only a loser, break them. Shady rais an independent American owned company start right here in Kentucky. Premium polarized shades for every activity, from their tangle free aviators that won't get stuck in your hair to their color Rush lenses. Great sunglasses, great price. It is Shady Ray. Sorry, I'm gonna go to the phone. By the way, I did the vote on the Pope than probably sixty forty pro Yeah. Really so fans were more cool with his conversation than I think a lot of people on the media, online, et cetera. Fans may be more like hey, because in some ways that is like a postgame show caller mentality, we got cheated. 00:19:26 Speaker 4: Yeah, So you think that's because those fans agree with they got cheated, so they're gonna do with what Pope said, so I think. 00:19:33 Speaker 3: So it's also easy when like you don't have to have the responsibility of having done it to say yeah, I get them, you know, but I'm not surprised about that. I kind of felt like more people were cool with that than was than than a lot of people. Really. 00:19:51 Speaker 4: So there's no coaches show tonight because they're traveling, so the coach shill be Wednesday night. 00:19:56 Speaker 3: Yeah, so he may not even have to end up it, Dow. He'll get asked about it though at. 00:19:59 Speaker 4: The can I I mean at the game tomorrow night, probably. 00:20:02 Speaker 3: Especially if we win, and people that are like, can we talk about what happened the other day? Yeah, Joe, go ahead, Joe. 00:20:10 Speaker 8: Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call real quick. Just a couple of frustrations, you know, Kentucky basketball is I can't compete obviously with the global inness of the Olympics or even tragedies like Rondell Moore. But the frustrating part is, like I go on the ESPN app and they're not even moving the needle. You know, you can't even hold it, you can't find them. You have to We're we're not ranked right, And so now is it time to start? After a year and a half, almost two years of now and of the recruiting issues and all this stuff, is it time to say, Mark, we love you, but are you up to the job? Because even Cal said like, not everybody can play here, but I also not everybody can coach here. I like more Pope. I think he's a very good coach. That is the up to the time. 00:20:57 Speaker 3: I mean for me, and this is it's just me, and I appreciate the call. Everybody gets to make that decision you're asking on their own. For me, that will be what next season is about. Next season, Mark Pope will have to prove to me whether he's up for this job. For some people, that's this season and they're already ready to make a change. I think more people are willing to give him, but give him more time. For me, it will come down to next year, and it will my judgment day will start April first, because from April first to April fifteenth is the portal. So the first judgment is are we going to have a team next year, and then my second judgment is gonna be how you're gonna coach that team next year? But next year for me is the year. And I think Mark knows that Mark knows that he's not dumb. 00:21:47 Speaker 4: He knows that what that means is sitting in that chair and what's happening right now is not really acceptable if he. 00:21:52 Speaker 3: Goes and makes a run though to like the Sweet sixteen or the Elite eight. It's a different circumstance. 00:21:56 Speaker 4: Absolutely it is. 00:21:57 Speaker 3: So they do still have that card justin go ahead, justin. 00:22:02 Speaker 9: Hey guys, Hey y'all do good for me. Uh. I guess the most frustrating part to me is I mean, of course I want wins, but like it's frustrating just watching them. So I used to look forward to, like watching Kentucky games. It was the best day of the week. And now it's just like, man, can this game just get over? Like I know that sounds bad, but it's just like in the midst of a game, they get up eight points and then Pope makes three subs and it's like then the team comes back, then we get behind. It's just like the same story over. 00:22:38 Speaker 3: Well, we didn't talk about that. I appreciate the call. The moment in the first half when he puts four subs in. 00:22:44 Speaker 4: We can't do that, jumped out on him. 00:22:46 Speaker 5: And the same time, I get they have to have minutes, but you don't have to play four it once. 00:22:51 Speaker 3: Geva Cher says we can't be doing that as soon as he did that eight to two runoffs. 00:22:55 Speaker 4: Yep. 00:22:56 Speaker 5: There is just such a gap between the starters and the and if Kentucky's gonna do anything, those guys have to find another level. I mean, otego Oway has head back to back career days and you've lost both games. He's been incredible, but there's nothing Well Aberdeen little guy's here and there, but overall, I mean, he's been kind of a one man show lately and they're not getting wins. 00:23:15 Speaker 3: You cannot play Jasper, Noah and Garrison together. You just can't. 00:23:22 Speaker 4: And he does all the time. 00:23:23 Speaker 3: You can play him, but they can't all be in at the same time. We'll take a break right back. K Sorry. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:23:33 Speaker 5: He'll make them pay now. 00:23:34 Speaker 2: More of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:40 Speaker 3: I'm impressed you know this song. This is new Charlie Crockett. So this is Charlie Crockett his new single, Been in Kentucky Too Long? 00:23:48 Speaker 4: I've not heard this. 00:23:50 Speaker 3: He came out ten days ago. I heard it on the radio on What Outlaw Country. I like it. And now, I mean there's no such thing as being in Kentucky too long though? Right true? 00:24:04 Speaker 6: I mean as the coach maybe that's what he was talking about. You mentioned Arkansas too, you know, well, I think. 00:24:12 Speaker 3: He got in trouble in Arkansas reverse and he said he came to Kentucky turn up, or maybe it's the other way around. Did he get in trouble in Kentucky way? He got stopped at the Canadian border yesterday. 00:24:33 Speaker 4: Have you seen this, Charlie Crockett. 00:24:35 Speaker 3: He was supposed to have a tour in Canada. Former KSR guest Charlie Crockett, stopped at the border, not allowed the country. So then he goes to a different place, stopped in again again not allowing the country, and he's having to cancel his his whole concerts. 00:24:51 Speaker 4: Canada don't let him in. 00:24:53 Speaker 3: Yeah, I haven't seen why they didn't let him in. 00:24:55 Speaker 5: He has a small charge in Virginia from eleven years ago for like marijuana something but not anything too big. 00:25:02 Speaker 3: So you can't get into Canada if you have a marijuana. 00:25:05 Speaker 5: He tweeted what Canada gave him, I guess, and it says like this in Canada is life in prison or something. 00:25:10 Speaker 3: So it's all related to life in prison for marijuana. I thought you could smoke wherever you wanted. 00:25:14 Speaker 5: In He posted, like what they sent him. It even says he's tried to enter twice. It's like an official document from Canada, but it's related to something in Virginia ten or eleven years ago. 00:25:24 Speaker 3: And it would be life in prison. Canada was a lot easier on that stuff. 00:25:29 Speaker 5: Yeah, it said something about intent to sell, but then the weight was not much, so I don't know, but I guess Canada. 00:25:34 Speaker 4: Taking it very soon. 00:25:34 Speaker 2: It would be in Canada too long at that point. Then he stuck there. 00:25:38 Speaker 3: Wow, that's interesting, So because I felt like I guess. I never thought if you get in trouble in America for something and you serve your time, can you not go to Canada. There's gotta be people who go to Canada who've been arrested for drugs at some point in America. 00:25:55 Speaker 4: Probably all the time. Unless your name is Charlie Crockett, then you got to stay in Kentucky. 00:26:00 Speaker 3: Well, I appreciate the I'm I appreciating the call. Call. I mean I have his number. We should call and get his official statement. 00:26:08 Speaker 2: That's true. 00:26:09 Speaker 3: It's a fun guest. Yeah, he was a fun game. 00:26:11 Speaker 4: It was a fun guest. 00:26:12 Speaker 3: Eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two uh seven seven four five two five four one person rights Matt. Four games left? How many do we have to win to make the tournament? And everyone predict our record in the last four. I think we only have to make one to definitely make the tournament. But I do think we have to win one. I'm gonna say we go two and two. Yeah, I'm gonna say we beat South Carolina and then we win either the Vandy or the A and M game. So I'm gonna say two and two. What do you think I like that? 00:26:50 Speaker 5: I'll say it's the Vandy win A and M on the road. They have a deep bench, score a lot of points. We have a bench. Uh, I'll say Vandy being a home game. I hate the thought of it, even though it's and Vandy can't go oh and two and repperenat in the year when you're so desperate. So also they get Vandy and then South Carolina tomorrow. 00:27:06 Speaker 4: They have to have to have to win South Carolina tomorrow night. That is non it's no excuse. If you lose that game, then you come back and you get Vandy, you owe Vandy, man, they punked you down here at their place, You owe them. At takes as an am will be really hard. 00:27:20 Speaker 3: So you're gonna say two and two, two and two, Shannon. 00:27:22 Speaker 2: I think we all agree on this. I think Kentucky wins the next two, loses the last two. 00:27:26 Speaker 3: Two and two and nineteen and if they if they're two and two. First of all, let's talk about the SEC tournament for what were you going to say? Sorry, I'll say, if they lose tomorrow though they're going on four. I think that's right. I think if they lose tomorrow, they are going on four, and then you're firmly on the bubble, then you might not make it. 00:27:42 Speaker 2: When you're seventeen and four. 00:27:44 Speaker 3: Fourteen, and then you'd probably play. So let's talk about the SEC tournament scenarios, folks. There's a really good chance we play on Wednesday. 00:27:53 Speaker 4: Then you tweeted this, if the season today. 00:27:55 Speaker 3: We would play on Wednesday. But the teams that we're kind of competing with, they're schedules get easy and ours gets hard. 00:28:02 Speaker 4: Yeah, Auburn's got a fairly easier schedule. 00:28:05 Speaker 10: So. 00:28:07 Speaker 3: If you were to I think, at best, unless we go three and one, at best we're looking at being the eight seed. So for those of you thinking about the SEC Tournament, I think we're going to be playing at one o'clock Wednesday or Thursday, but it might be Wednesday. We might lead off the SEC Tournament. 00:28:27 Speaker 5: If you take Ken Palms projections and just finish the season, they have Kentucky going one in three and playing the first game on Wednesday. 00:28:33 Speaker 7: Again. 00:28:34 Speaker 3: Right now, let me tell you a couple of things about I want you to imagine about that. Isn't that general admission? 00:28:40 Speaker 5: I don't know if they still do it. I don't think they do, but for many years it was for free years it was free anymore. 00:28:46 Speaker 3: But I do think it's general admission, no assigned tickets, open seating, and I think it's like ten dollars Shannon. Can you imagine a Kentucky game in the SEC that's first come, first served. 00:29:00 Speaker 6: I mean, the fans are still gonna be there, so you'd have a full First of all. 00:29:04 Speaker 3: People would start lining up at six am, what would no doubt. 00:29:08 Speaker 5: And we had this conversation last year they had to win at Missouri to get out of easday that first game. 00:29:14 Speaker 3: The day session on Wednesday is general admission like ten. 00:29:19 Speaker 5: Bucks eleven, thirty Local Times eleven. 00:29:22 Speaker 3: There will be that would be insane. 00:29:26 Speaker 4: So do we do our show at ten roof on Wednesday morning? 00:29:29 Speaker 3: I know, I think we just we do it Thursday and then if we lose Wednesday, hell, no one's gonna want to come anyway. Yeah, I mean if you go oh and four. But even if we go one in three, I think there's a good chance we played Wednesday. I think we have to go too and two to not not play on Wednesday, to not play on Wednesday, which is crazy. I mean, this program should never be playing on Wednesday. 00:29:50 Speaker 4: We used to enjoy those Wednesday games just because if we were there throwaway games. They gotta think Kentucky's gonna be one of those throwaway games. 00:29:56 Speaker 5: And then the big picture to get to that, you would have lost six of seven games, which ending the year was six out of seven losses. I don't care about your injuries. You've had some games you should have won. That would be a horrible ending for this year. 00:30:08 Speaker 3: Yeah, I just want you to think about Wednesday, one SEC tournament game, general admission ten dollars. 00:30:18 Speaker 5: We always hear Nashville and they write the stories about at the Tennessee and when Kentucky doesn't make the weekend the impact. What if Kentucky doesn't make Thursday the impact. 00:30:27 Speaker 3: I will say though, that would be that would be a heck of an atmosphere. It was just open the doors ten Bucks, Shannon and let Kentucky fans in. 00:30:34 Speaker 2: It would feel like a home game. 00:30:36 Speaker 3: It would be probably one of the wilder crowds you could get of Kentucky fans. 00:30:40 Speaker 10: Yep. 00:30:40 Speaker 3: Be like when we made the n at Memorial. Yeah, that was a great crowd. 00:30:44 Speaker 6: Well, those crowds start drinking at five am the ten. 00:30:49 Speaker 3: Bucks and that's way like anyone can go. 00:30:51 Speaker 4: And the other fan bases wouldn't do. 00:30:53 Speaker 3: South Carolina ain't gonna be there. That's who we'd probably be playing. They're not gonna be there. 00:30:57 Speaker 4: No, not at all. 00:30:58 Speaker 5: Last year, before the final game of the year. I think I even bought a couple of general missions for this reason, because we had this conversation up until the very end, and they luckily played go out of. 00:31:06 Speaker 3: It definitely on the table. Now let's go to Josh. Go ahead, Josh. 00:31:13 Speaker 10: Hey, guys, I admit I might be a little bit like Charlie Crokett here and being in Kentucky too long making something out of nothing. That's definitely possible. But I wanted to bring up a conversation that was air between Bruce Pearl and Courtney Green. Courtney Green was miked up during the CBS Sports Classic. It was Bruce Pearl's first game calling for CBS Sports and before the game started, Courtney comes over and like DAPs up Bruce Pearl and Bruce says to Courtney, he says, take care of Steven for me. He says, no, seriously, help him out when you have a chance, and Courtney says, absolutely absolutely. I know it's probably nothing, but I wonder if it might be part of what Mark Pope was talking about, the personal stuff. 00:32:01 Speaker 3: So where where did that air? Again? 00:32:03 Speaker 10: Remind me it was during the CBS Sports Classics. Okay, like before the game started, they had Courtney Green mocked up, and so they they played it like as a clip before the before the game started. During the Saint John's game. 00:32:19 Speaker 3: I said, yeah, yeah, I don't know. I mean, I my guess is they're just joking there. I'm kind of surprised CBS aired that, but. 00:32:28 Speaker 4: I was too. 00:32:28 Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean, I I can I mean, I could see why. That's but I mean, I will say and I appreciate the call of the way I got to know Courtney was he always did Cal's camp, and I think he and Cal were good. You know, to some extent, these referees have relationships with these coaches. So but I didn't know that clip was out there. That would be that's odd. 00:32:51 Speaker 4: I don't think Mark Pope would say that unless he had a reason to say it was personal. 00:32:55 Speaker 3: So somebody needs to ask him. Yes, I mean, somebody needs to ask him. When you said personal, what did you mean? 00:33:01 Speaker 4: What are you talking about? 00:33:03 Speaker 3: Right? 00:33:03 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:33:04 Speaker 5: Also, when he was talking about people coming to me us in the program, he listed the fans first. Both times he did he did. I was kind of, well, wait a minute, I'm gonna assume the question was about officials. I did think it was weird, he said, fail because he did it again on radio, and both times he listed everybody and fans are the first thing. 00:33:20 Speaker 4: He said, both of be careful when there is a rule. 00:33:25 Speaker 3: Of thumb that is one hundred percent accurate. When you start blaming the fans, you're on a path towards it not work. 00:33:35 Speaker 4: Yes, you gotta be careful about the slippery slope. 00:33:37 Speaker 3: I've seen two coaches do it and they both were gone that year. Callen Stoops. Yeah, they both did it in the last year. They both started talking about the fans. I'm going to assume Mark was doing it like like a generic I'm gonna list bunches of people and the fans are wanted and not personally that it was. But I you know, you can't go down that path. These fans, I would also say to Mark, these fans have loved you. Right outside of those first twelve hours after it got announced. These fans have loved Mark and continue to want him. No one has anything against Mark Poe, no one right correct, So personally we want you to succeed after all of us. Yep, we want it. I'm not gonna say we want it as much as you, but we want it so, and I hope he knows that. Don't let aches and pains follow you. The new year start twenty twenty six. Some folks online tell me that in the context, they think he was talking about opposing teams fans, like opposing team's fans getting in your head. That would make sense to me, That would make more sense. I hope that's what he was talking about. 00:35:14 Speaker 4: I gotta admit I didn't take it that way when he said, I thought he was talking about our fans. 00:35:19 Speaker 3: I would have to hear the whole context, because I heard the question but only the end of it. So I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. He did say the fans, but you don't think he could have been opposing men. 00:35:32 Speaker 4: Yes, could have been. I just I didn't take it that way when he said it. 00:35:35 Speaker 3: One verst Rights. Last year, Matt Arkansas came in and was the nine seed to the SEC tournament, had to play the first game. Had they lost, might not have made the tournament. They won and ended up in the sweet sixteen on a run. Could that be us? Could? I could? Honestly, that wouldn't be a crazy scenario. 00:35:57 Speaker 4: Yeah. Our seed in the nca tournament will be better than our seed in the end SEC tournament. 00:36:00 Speaker 3: What's interesting is you'd almost rather be an eleven seed in the NCAA tournament than an eight or nine. I've always believed that, Yeah, right. 00:36:09 Speaker 4: Because eight or nine got to play a one second game. 00:36:12 Speaker 3: A six seeds not that much different than an eight seed. But there's a big difference usually between a one and a three in the second roun. Huh, So I've always kind of thought you'd almost rather be eleven than a eight or nine. 00:36:24 Speaker 5: Yeah, I hear your point. It just makes me sad that we even have to have these conversations. I miss the intimidation, I miss being in the conversation. I miss when they're previewing the tournament, where the logo that's featured that none of that has happened in a while, and it's not gonna happen this year. Maybe we make a run, but the excitement and the lookout for Kentucky will not exist. We'll have to surprise people and steal maybe every game in the tournament. 00:36:47 Speaker 3: That's true. Tyrese Haliburton is out. Uh, well, he was out because of his injury. Yeah, but then he also has announced that he has shingles. So shingles is one of those diseases that I hear about and I don't totally know what it is. I had a friend who had it recently and it looked awful. 00:37:11 Speaker 4: Apparently it's very painful. I've never had it. 00:37:14 Speaker 3: I don't know, so what is it. 00:37:16 Speaker 2: It's like adult chicken pox, right. 00:37:19 Speaker 3: I think you're right. It is like adult chicken pox. How do you get it? I always think of old people getting it, But then I have a friend, a good friend of mine from high school, who got it on his face and it was the worst looking thing I've ever seen. I know. 00:37:32 Speaker 6: Terry Bradshaw is like a spokesman for shingles. He would just knock on your door and say, hey, you got shingles. 00:37:37 Speaker 3: He's a spokesman for the disease. The disease, they. 00:37:40 Speaker 2: Would say, hey, you got shingles. I'm here. 00:37:41 Speaker 3: I can give you some shingles. 00:37:42 Speaker 2: If you want to cream, topical cream, you just rub on the shingles. 00:37:45 Speaker 3: Do you know anyone that's had shingles? 00:37:47 Speaker 4: Yeah? And I know it's very painful. 00:37:49 Speaker 3: How do you get it? 00:37:50 Speaker 4: I don't know. 00:37:51 Speaker 3: You know how you get it? 00:37:52 Speaker 10: I don't know. 00:37:52 Speaker 5: Is it contagious like chicken pox? 00:37:55 Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know to have had chicken pox or not had chicken pox, don't know. So we don't know much about it. It's one of those diseases that sounds gross. Yeah right, I'll give you another one. I'm not gonna say who because they're my friend and I don't want to embarrass them. But I know someone that has gout. 00:38:17 Speaker 5: I don't know if you be with gout, so do I. 00:38:22 Speaker 3: But he like you think of gout as like, yeah, awful, But this is like a normal person I know that has gout. What is gout? Something with your feet. 00:38:33 Speaker 4: Right on your feet? 00:38:34 Speaker 3: What happens? 00:38:35 Speaker 4: It's like a rash or something on your feet, isn't it. 00:38:38 Speaker 3: Why do you get that? 00:38:39 Speaker 4: I don't know. 00:38:40 Speaker 5: So it's very Your diet is a big part of it. I know, to get better. I think you stay away from red meat maybe, But what does it do to you? 00:38:48 Speaker 3: I don't know. 00:38:49 Speaker 5: I just I know people have had it and they could not walk like I've been with him, and it's like. 00:38:54 Speaker 3: And I my friend that has it. We would sometimes get together and he'd be like, my gout is acting and he would go every time, and I would go like, he would be like, don't look at me like that. Yes, I kind of think, look, be careful who you're with, you know, like have some discrept and no, that's not it. 00:39:16 Speaker 4: You're right. Both of those diseases you hear about and I don't really know anything about them. 00:39:20 Speaker 5: I think Haliburton has an opportunity here with shingles. 00:39:22 Speaker 3: He could teach us. He could teach us. Lebron could teach us about gout. 00:39:27 Speaker 4: Lebron has gollut. 00:39:29 Speaker 3: Well, I'm not Letten. I didn't say that. Don't be put don't be putting words in my mouth. I didn't say Lebron had gout. I'm just saying if he did he could teach us. 00:39:38 Speaker 4: Yes, well, Halliburton admitted he's got his gut us talking about him and we'll find out a little bit about it. 00:39:44 Speaker 5: Yeah, the internet says it's it typically occurs in people older than fifty. So Haliburt shingles, Yeah, gout. I thought it was like when you were in bed too long. 00:39:56 Speaker 3: He has been. Maybe he's he's like every earth. I feel like you get it at nursing homes. 00:40:03 Speaker 2: You can get a lot of nursing homes. 00:40:04 Speaker 4: It does seem like it's a disease. It would spread it at nursing home. 00:40:07 Speaker 3: Well, anyway, we're not We're not expertal Burton. 00:40:11 Speaker 4: Yes, please, Pacers need you, thank you. 00:40:14 Speaker 3: Let's go to Cam. Go ahead, Cam. 00:40:17 Speaker 7: What's up guys. My birthday was Saturday. Man, really disappointed we didn't come away with the win. I want to give a shout out to my cousin Junior and my friend Kelsey. She's having a baby for huge UK fans. 00:40:35 Speaker 3: Super huge baby. 00:40:40 Speaker 7: You know, uh, their other baby. He's a strong boy, so maybe the little girl be a strong one. But yeah, man, I'm getting to the point where I'm getting pretty apathetic with the program, kind of like I did towards the end of Students's career. I don't really keep up with the times of the games anymore. I'll turn the TV on, like, oh, I forgot we're playing tonight. Don't really expect us to win anymore. It's really sad, man, it's frustrating. Uh yeah, I hate the show like that, man. 00:41:11 Speaker 3: And I get that, and I hope that that needs that does need to go away. Uh, Houston at Kansas. How does Kansas always play at home on Monday night? Every single game? 00:41:51 Speaker 2: They didn't show up on Saturday. 00:41:52 Speaker 3: They didn't. But this is Monday, Mondays. They do not lose at home on Monday night. I've said this, Houston's one and a half point favor.
