We were recording this the day after what we call Australia Day or is it Invasion Day, whatever it's called these days you're in Australia, but as the day we celebrate our beautiful country we have here, and Happy Australia Day to all those listeners out there. It's indeed that feels like a real sort of keg of dynamite that's waiting to be a little match too. So I'm just gonna say, yeah, happy January twenty six. Yes, indeed, I've enjoyed your time off from work. Well what do you do this weekend? Long weekend for you guys, obviously, Yeah, long weekend for us. Long I live a long weekend, that's true. I mean I'm always working by never at a place, so we'll let you know. And I feel much the same way. I mean, I've been a bit of a freelancer for most of my careers. So yeah, the boundary between the weekend and the weekend is pretty poorous want to do. Look, it was warm, so I'm trying to sort of keep cool and the love of the reason. I just sort of hung out, enjoyed one another's company, ate some nice meals, watch a bit of TV, Live in the Dream, Live in the Dream. We took the kids to Melbourne last Friday because Nikola actually speaking of Australia. She's pasted the citizenship test. She just has to do the ceremony. That's it. Yeah, so's the test? Was like she was like studying for us, Like it's pretty easy. She goes, well, there seven of this book. It's like forty pages of stuff, and I was like, I still have heard it's pretty easy. She gets there, right to do the thing, and there's it. Just say slavery. That's literally exactly what it was. Yes, just say slavery. It was like, if your neighbor is committing a crime, should you let him do it? Be join in or see tell the police? Question is what is the crime? Depends? Yes? Is it a jeens racking out of his garas? Yeah? But the Nicola gets there and within fifteen minutes she was out one hundred percent. She smashed it. We took the kids the album for that, and we also I wanted to go check out this video land exhibition thing. What would you call it installation? Installation perhaps, Yes, you put some pictures up online for our full finger discount friends, and you also sent them to me. Yes, it was at the Immigration Museum. It was great. So I always say to the kids, you know, go to the video shop. Go did you caught the video shop? I caught the video shop when I was little. What else would you call it? Some people caught the rental store? Well there is yeah, no, yeah, no attention the video shop. And now the kids understand what I mean by the video shop, and they would just blown away. They're like, look at all the movies. I was like this and I was watching it. I was like, this is what today's youth miss, the excitement of going somewhere. All these movies that were seeing on the shelves. They're probably available on the streaming services, but that stanning through streaming service doesn't capture the imagination of going into a store and going there's that movie and picking it up and looking at the cover and reading it. And holding your hand. Cover arts usually pretty interesting, yeah, as opposed to just. Tile t just a thumbnail on the screen. Yeah, that would like, hey, this is down fire and it's this sounds like these are all available in streaming service, but you know what the excitement of seeing these movies physical form. Well, you've got your nice library, yeah, of DVD's and blue rays in the other room. Some of us are keeping the keeping them dream alive. Yeah, the kids do like the vhs I've gotten here, but I know what I would like, and I can't find them anywhere. Those shelves that video stores would have where like the shelves want to slight lean, I can't find them anywhere. I want one of those to display my VHS collection, but I can't find them. Well, I said, we need a little more money, so you know you can actually get them custom made. Well. I took photos of them and sent them to my carpenter, a cousin. I was like, can you build these? And he's like yeah, I'm like, can you please build somebody He's like, when I get the time, thank you, you already across it. Yeah, So a carp and a cousin was he named Jesus. I wish, but I walked in and just like the carpet even looked like the you had Video Land carp but it felt like were at the movies. No, apparently this guy has callum Yeah, has called out. Awesome name. I'm thirteen years old. Awesome age and from America. Not a bad place. Can you just expand on y thirteen is a good age? Well, you're just discovering all manner of stuff. Being thirteen is great, but you're just like thirteen years old. Good age. It can be taken the wrong way by some people who have dirty minds. Well, if you were going to clip that and put it on a loop and put it on make it like a TikTok or something, then yes, I would have been I'd be canceled. And being thirteen is just like a peak between like ten to thirteen is like peak peak age. I think it's just like, you know, it's pretty good. You've got no worries in the world, but you're old enough to appreciate and you can go the movies. You were starting to learn more stuff about yourself and about the world. So yes, thirteen is a good age to be. Yeah, continue, Yeah, it's from America. Yeah, yeah, and it's from America. I wasn't allowed to watch The Simpsons until about ten months ago. Because my mom. Mom thought it would be a bad influence on me. Ironically, she doesn't mind it now and let's my six or brother watch it now. But my dad eventually convinced her to let me watch it. Well done, dad, and it completely changed my whole worldview. Wow, I have never had a show had so much impact on me, and your podcast serves as an amazing companion I am now. I'm currently completely caught up on the Simpsons, but I'm on season twelve of your podcast, and you don't, and you do not know how much joy it brings me to listen to two people with cool Australian accents. That's right, talk about. My favorite show. And it was because of you guys, and I started sneak watching South Park. My mum would freak, which has led me down a whole new rabbit hole. I'm sorry, missus Kincaid, but I shout out to Momma Kincaide, shout out to mom Kincaid. I've listened to you guys enough that FFD he's down with the lingo, down with the acronyms is my most listened to podcast, at over twenty thousand minutes of listening time, about fourteen days, and I'm a top one percent listener. I was about to say what a pleasure it is, but to get this kind of feedback, to know that we're not just sort of speaking to the void, spitting at one another, sometimes literally in my case, to know that a, yeah, someone's enjoying what we're doing, but we've also been able to, you know, turn them on to and enhance their enjoyment of shows like The Simpsons and South Park. The fact that we got someone watching south Park, I think that's pretty neat, particularly if it sort of counteracts there what their parents are trying to do. I think that's that's really cool. I live in Springfield, Ohio here in the States, and The Simpsons have been part of my whole life through watching the show, playing games, etc. I can confirm and have a theory that any town named Springfield is full of chaos. My Springfield even recently seen mob Justice Mob Justice long story wow on my mob justice is a big part of the Simpsons. Now where I live there is also a Homer so there was he sent a picture as it had Springfield, but I haven't included that here obviously, but near where I live there's also a Homer Road and a Homerville, and I just found it a little humorous. Hey lons, looney, Looney, I'd say, looney, there you go, Looney. So basically we're gone full circle. Hey, Guy and Dando discovered the show around six months ago and have almost caught up already. I've listened to several Simpsons podcasts, and yours is, without question the most genuine. I love the ill willing to give the latest season episodes a chance instead of just shitting all over them. I first started watching The Simpsons during season nineteen. I'm twenty four mathway out. I yes, it must work out. So these are the episodes that I grew up with. My question for you is which character do you think the Simpsons simply couldn't exist without? Also? Which character have you growing to appreciate? So two questions. Your first question, which character do you think the Simpsons simply couldn't exist without? Well, I mean it could be really obvious, isn't say Homer? Yeah? I mean the show is the Simpsons, and I think Homer is currently premier Simpson. Right, you couldn't take out I mean the show could exist without Bart. But you also couldn't take out Bart because Bart is the the representation that draws kids in. I think kids aren't watching the show because they find Homer's antics fun, but they're not relating to Homer. Butt is what kids are relating to. Yeah, but it's the gateway drug. Yeah, yes, he's the third tip. Yeah, it's free, yes and yeah or you know, you come for the Bart, but you stay for the Homer. Which secondary character do you think the Simpsons couldn't kill off Poo? I don't think you could get rid of I wouldn't get rid of mo I thought mo as well, Yeah, I was sinking Krusty. But he probably could replace Krusty at some point. I feel like the Krusty characters kind of watered down now they've squeezed that lemon, they've gotten everybody of juice added that character. They possibly could, I think, But he is there. He is there go to for He's a representation of the entertainment industry on The Simpsons, So everything goes through Krusty in that regard. Well, yeah, I mean he's the sort of the go to if you're going to be poking performers or whatever. Yeah, yeah, thing, yeah, but is pretty pivotal. I think Moa is sort of like the brother that Homer never he had her power obviously, but he's the guy that Homer can go to when he's got a problem. Well, yes, more so. I mean he's got his supposed best friends in Lenny and Carl and and I guess even Barney. But I don't know. When I tend to think of Homer's friends, I think he's my first. He's my go to in that regard. Yep. And also, yeah, which character we've grown to appreciate the older we get, I think again, I think you'll have a lot of people say, oh, I'm just like, oh, oh, he's just like me for real. But yeah, I think I didn't like, really relate to that guy. I mean, and to a lesser extent, Lisa as well. I think when I was younger, I really didn't like the Lisa stories and Lisa episodes, but that I didn't like them. They were just my least favorite of the Simpsons, which is still good. But I was watching this and going, oh, shut up. I'd always think myself saying, shut up, Lisa, you're annoying. What are you always ranting about this when you just I watch it now and I go I can see where she's coming from. It's still annoying that this these themes and these this voice is coming through an eight year old, but the writers just used her as their own voice in regards he's that. This is where Mill says, thanks again for the hours of entertainment Utuly are one of my favorite shows that listened to. Alrighty, let's get into some before we get into some Patreon questions. That's ask what have been some of your favorite episodes we've done of late in the last few weeks. I've been very happy with the interviews that we've been doing. Yeah, it's not exactly I've been proud of them. Oh yeah, it's not exactly uncharted territory for us. But I think the chats that we've had where with Mike Scully, with Bill Oakley, with Josh Weinstein, I think they've been great. I mean it's been a pleasure speaking with them just on a on a personal level. They're good people to sort of talk to. I mean, they seem like good guys open yeah. Yeah, But also I think it sounds like we're being interrogators only. But I think the information that we got out of them has been pretty good stuff. It's certainly been a pleasure for me to hear. Yeah, some of the stories that they've had, and I think the way that they all came together was was, yeah, really rewarding. And you're right in saying that we should be proud of them. You shouldn't. You certainly should be proud of them. I mean, you're white, just me. Well, I mean you're asking them, you're asking a fair few questions. I'm sort of like chiming occasionally with a. Bit of a no. I think what our balance works well in the sense that you're you're sort of of a similar generation to them, and there are a lot of things that they might bring up that was it wasn't in the mox skular thing. You brought up a name Polyplatt, who, off top of my head, I wasn't quite aware of it was, and you knew exactly who it was. And I think just you knowing that straight away just doesn't make the interviewee or make them feel comfortables just like they know their shit. They're they're on our wavelength. But I come from the I give this super fan bespect. So I'm always going trying to ask questions about so how do you want with that story for that episode where you're very good at coming up with the questions and having engaging discussion of just pop culture in general. Oh, I mean, it's sort of like the foundations of what maybe got them interested in comedy or how they built their sort of comedy chops. Like the Lampoon, your discussion with Bill and things like that. But no, I mean, if you're asking about stuff that we've done recently that I'm really happy with there, I'd say that's certainly among the our crowning achievements as of late. I think we're finding a good balance too, of just so you don't want to just season twenty one episodes because it'd be still doing them, sure, but breaking them up, you know, doing a season twenty one and going back and visiting a classic with a guest. And I think just we're finding a good balance at the moment, which will let us know though what do you think mailbag or forfigure discount dot com dot are you what? First of all question is what guests do you want us to get onto the show. So I'm working on some other big name guests, some big, big ones. So Matt, someone's coming on the show. We're going to be recording that tomorrow as we record this hopefully, Oh yes, but we're gonna be talking about the eight hundred episodes coming up, so just just the new Simpsons in general. I think that they've made a lot of changes to the Simpsons this season since Matt's taken over as the solo showrunner. So I'll be interested to get into that discussion with him as well. But these questions have come from the patrons. The first one he's from Mike Salter favorite silly purchase. You've ever made something that has zero practical practical use, but you just wanted it zero practical use. When I bought you the Towy Tower, I suppose it got practical use. It's a town, it's a tower. Something has zero. Well, does susplay something on the shelf minute's got no practical use? My iron Giant, Like I didn't need that Iron Giant. No, but it makes me happy when I look at it. I get the feeling you don't need half the crazy crap that's in here. No. I mean likewise, I'm doing. A bit of work out of our Palell's pop culture as and as a result of that, you. Know, you get the I saw the head headhn show at the supermarket the other day. I had a good old ten minute chat with him. Oh the big boy, the big big Man. Okay. But as a result, you know, you get the sort of the stuff discount. I find is looking at stuff on the sites, going do I really need this on? But I'm paying pennies on the dollar for this? And there was a funko pop of some mix lot a baby got back face. I nearly bought that for you once. Yeah, well you sure instead of nobody said to me that you didn't want any more collectibles. You're trying to click, I know, but then I didn't. But I actually I bought myself. I bought myself one for Christmas. I haven't got a mixed a lot. He's down like ten bucks. I was like, yeah, that was that. When I was still working there, I actually bought myself a funk pop for Chris one Rod Serling of the of the Twilight Zone. It's in black and white. It's like up there is my little totem. Necessarily call that a silly purchase. Something I bought years ago, and I don't know if I still have it, but I bought like a reasonable size like globe, like a world globe. I would feel a little more smarter and sophisticated if I had this in the world, even though the world has already been charted and mapped by various explorers. But it's like, I don't really need this. It's going to be a specific room, it's could be a lot of books in there. Yeah, it's like this would add to my life. I don't think I've looked at that globe in a very long time. I buy records all the time, and it's like I've listened to probably ten percent of the records that I've got, But I just like knowing that I've got. That Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, we're very similar. We like to have our library something. Yeah, I've got a ship ton of books at my place, like what and likewise, even blues, Blu, rays and DVDs, some of the cellular plastic and plaid top dollar for them. But yeah, there's gonna be a time when it was like finally be able to take a break, sit down there, read book. Yes, exactly. By the way, speaking of records. I feel like I got scammed again. I'm like, oh, no, did I fall for it? The signs were all there. Now you see ads on Facebook, like, you know, selling products, right, and it was a video of this shark jaws vinyl but it's water filled vinyl, right, Like it's got water in the vinyl. Okay, And look the legit thing is like I had all these reactions in people commenting and whatnot and say, O, yeah, I've got one of these. It's great obviously fake comments. It turns out I bought it went through use PayPal, paying for like you know, it's using paper that kind of thing, not entering my credit card details. Bought it through shop and saying yeah, but it's on its way. And then I put the tracking number in and then it says tracking number not not not found. And I was like, oh, it's weird. And then I wait, another day's track number not found. I was like oh, And I look at the website and the website is just one of those it's like oh shop dot drop shop dot iffy, it's not actually a real thing. And I was like, and the website's like all different, Oh they got you. And I was like, oh, no, so it's paying for So I've paid fourteen dollars fifty so I've contacted paper. I'm like, can we like end this so I don't have to pay anymore because it seems because they're not getting back to me. They're like, if you like a reefund, you must have returned it within thirty days of receiving And I've written back and there's not running back. And I'm like, oh no, I feel like I've been scammed. But don't trust someone on the internet. But it was just you know those through Facebook was legit had and there was comments and there's videos and it looked like a real website and I just did it on my phone. I was like, oh, yeah, cool, I'll buy this. And then I bought it. I was like, ah, scammers again, smart all the time, and they were pretty smart to begin with. Yeah. I mean like, I just I didn't even think twice. So unfortunately it might still arrive. I might just be panicking over nothing, but it looks pretty scammy to me. Can I just say? Nicol and I we did some browsing last week. We watched The Negotiator and I was like, you may also like this, right, so we put all these movies in our watch list. We watched a movie called Vehicle nineteen. Oh, I am absolute dog shit. This stars the Lake Paul Walker. It does, It's horrific. We got about halfway through. We look at each other room and we've never done this. We've said, don't just skipped to the end and see what happens. Yeah, because like, how much long has I got to go? I had another fifty two minutes and I was like, I'm not committing another fifty minutes to this. It was so bad. Have you ever seen it? No, but oh, it's so bad. His daughter's sick or something. Oh. No, So he's he's an ex con who's out in parole. Shouldn't have traveled to South Africa. His wife for some reason, she's working. His ex wife is working at the embassy. And then he rents a car and then there's a woman who's in the boot of the car. Oh, it's the wrong it's a minivent. And then he's in South Africa and the corruption in the in the cop scene and they're trying to get him, and it's just it's fucking terrible. The acting's bad. There's one point right where spoiler alert, the girl woman gets shot right and she's like, I'm bleeding out. I'm bleeding out right, and she's like, just hop, help, put your head of my chest. I forget. That's to get a message out, hold to fan out. She's recording this passage. I am someone, so I'm about to die. The cops. This the chief of police, he's doing this. He's doing that, recording her message. But she's not leaking any blood. It's just like a bullet wind in her chest and Paul is on his hand on it. He takes his hand off a couple of times. There's nothing coming out, and I'm like, what the fuck is this movie disappointing? It's it's really bad. Never ever watched Vehicle of nineteen. That is one of the worst movies I've seen for a long time. Look, this is by on by no means a travesty that I watched a little while ago, And maybe it was last year or the year before, but it's certainly one that sort of sticks out because I went in with reasonably high expectations. You hate that when you're really excited for a movie and it disappoints you. Yeah, it's. And the Lovely Luis likes a war movie. Really yeah, yeah, And so I rented for Oh, I obtained for us a movie called The Ministry. Of Unduly that I obtained for us. I'm glad I did obtain it, if you know what I mean. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from director Guy Ritchie of Lockstock and Two Smoking Barrels fame and that's too long that name, The Ministry of What Ungentlemanly Warfare, which was actually like apparently the real title was given to this sort of off the books unit that was developed in World War Two. It's like, you know, we need people to sort of do dirty work. YEP had a good. Cast, and I had Henry Cavill had Alan Richson aka TV's Reacher. Thought oh, this could be not bad, you know, sort of rebel soldiers getting out of all matter of hygienks during World War Two, and we were just both so fucking bore. It was. Yeah, it just wasn't good. And yeah, I mean sometimes with like a bad movie, it's like oh I can sort of poke fun at this or whatever. A dull movie is just like, oh, I'm just this is a. Grind, nothing's happening. Yeah. Yeah, So look, I won't say it's the worst movie I've ever seen, but it was certainly a great disappointment. This has Ben Lyons, who asked this. I was very disappointed with season five for Stranger Things. I've made that very clear in the last you have. We may have to do Godfellas whatever. Yeah, we may have to do a bit of a podcast about season five, even where it all went wrong. And then you watch the documentary and you're like, oh, this is where it went wrong. Well, let's see that's on you. I mean you're you're no, that's not on you, but I mean you're overdosing on stranger things stuff. But see if you want to understand why it went wrong and you hope that it. Would give you some Well for me, though I've said this to you before, after season two even I was like, I'm watching it because I just want to see what happens, but to the end. So it's like I watched it, but I wasn't. I don't think I've enjoyed it for two or three seasons. This last thing was just like the worst. But you were like, you enjoyed it. You're like, kind, I enjoy show your things. I enjoyed the violence and the horror aspect. But I was like, it's just it's got to the point where it's so ridiculous now, like these fucking supposedly sixteen year olds that is going into another dimension, Like it's just like going to the supermarket. Yeah, no, that that shit's ridiculous. And I mean, I don't really give a fuck about the characters. I don't care about eleven, I don't care about Michael whatever. I was really when I was enjoying, like season three, season three, and maybe to some exten season four. It's kind of like, that's a pretty nifty action said piece. Well, that's a nice homage to say, Nightmare on Elm Street. Or Day of the Dead or something. That's all that is, though. It's just it's just homage, just the ship. But I don't mind that part so much. But if you're like, oh, but also you know it's you, it's your favorite you know, teen characters going through this shit, it's no, no, I'm not buying that. I don't care about that, but I do like, oh, wow, they broke that and broke that girl's bones and some interesting ways because I'm a seatist. But that's that's Ben. That's the answer your question. The worst TV shows or movies we've seen recently? Sure, and Gray Scott's got a few questions here. Best school excursion of growing up, Best school excursion that wasn't a school camp. I think that's put school camps to the side. Oh, okay, school excursions. We went to the football once for a school excursion that would have been it was like an after our schools. It was like a Friday night game. Wow. And we all went to Melbourne and we spent the day in Melbourne. That was pretty awesome. Yeah, but it was too it wasn't a Geelong game, it was something else. So it was like I remember being there thinking, I don't really care who wins. I'm just I'm just enjoying the atmosphere. Of course. Yeah, I think I've ever been to a game since that wasn't a Geelong game. Maybe more often people say that, you know, it's not all of those go to games, and I'm like, that's a long time. Yeah, see, I'm as limited now, that's true. I've never really been able to sort of get into that mindset of people who watch sport, where you know, they're not invested in the outcome of I hope my team win. I would not watch a football game with the cat if the Cats weren't playing. I'm not that interested in the game, So yeah I would. Yeah. So anyway, let's say best school excursion growing up. There's a big difference. When I went to the planet arium planetarium bug round for school. I think maybe in like Science Works Planetario could have been Yeah, shreated Science Works as a kid as well. Yeah, and I've never been to a planetarium. I thought it was pretty rare. I enjoyed that very much. Then look nothing nothing especially special happened on it, but it was like, terariums are pretty cool. I'm enjoying this. Once we went to the Golden Triangle, just the snooker hall used to be in Geelong. Oh, Golden Triangle, And this is in high school. I think it was like year eight U night. We just went down to the Golden Triangle just in the Do you want to go to the Golden Triangle. We're like, sure, we'll book that for the next week's sport peer class. We went. Went right down the back and they had like a jukebox machine you put money and you could pick a song and plays the video clip and stuff. But it was like, you know where Rivers was in Gely on malt Street, so between office works and Ballerine Street. Oh oh yeah, I do know. The what you're talking about. Yeah, I think before that, there was the Golden Trunk that was in Little Mallops. Okay, that was that was was upstairs, and yeah, I think it was also known as the Golden Elbow because okay, we'll go to get. Heroin really, but it was. It was a pool hall and it also had in the eighties, it had video games. And here's the thing in that video Okays, not every place would have the same games, and there was like maybe one place in town that would have like the off like an off brand game that was still pretty cool. And I think, yeah, the Golden Trunk. It was an off brand game. Well, it's like I certainly remember this when JP and I were young, when we were like eleven or so, you had the Milk Bar down down the down the road from his plate Love milk Bars, and it had a game that was to all intends purpose. It was called it was Space Invaders, but it was called Space Stranger. Okay, so it's a variant, a variant, yeah, the teamy version pretty much. Yeah, or yeah, like a version of Galaxian or something along. The street wrestler. Yeah, but for some reason it was almost better than the than the original or just you know, a pleasant, pleasant alternative And yeah, the Golden gold Trungle. Want to have like one or two games like oh like it was the only place in town i'd had Berserk. Well like this game, and I'm me the nerdiest, whimpiest little kid was willing to go to this rough joint. Black can I can I have five twenties for this for my for this dollar and just pump me into Berserk. Yeah, yeah, he's going. He's gonna bother me at the Golden Trungle, this little kid in his school uniform playing Berserk. I guarantee the guys they probably look after you. Probably, yeah, probably the case. Yeah, you just reminded me when you talking about like random arcade machines which took the kids to Grazeland on Friday. You ever been to Graceland? Oh my fucking god, mate, you are being heaven there. Do you know what Graysland is? Really? Okay, So I'd heard about it for like a couple of years now and never bothered to go there. It is right next door to Science Works right in Spotswood. Yes, and it is just storage containers, so like the ones you see on the shipping containers but it's like there's like fifty at least fifty to sixty of them, all various food places. Oh and you pay four dollors entry, and it's got briskets, it's got Mexican, it's got Italian. That's got as a new grazing food. But but it's just called grazing, actually grazed. But you can go burg it from there. Some chips. But they had the jaws pinny there. But they had they had like all these arcade machines. There's a place for the kids to go play in the arcades, all these various foods, big giants stream with the Australian Open on. I thought of you. I'm like, guy would be in heaven burrito stalls. There's smoke brisket stalls. There'ses that sound nice. Look, I'm going to show you Grazeland. Let's get it up. Let's get it ship there, Jennie. So they're all looking so that that's just one place. There's like four of these. Wow there it is there so grays food food, food, and there's sweet streets as well, where it's just a street. And so Nicola had a giant cookie that was melts like gooey in the middle with ice cream and sprinkles on top and with cream and I have some deep fried cheesecake. Incredible. Yeah, that's that's it. There, that's that's It's just like that all the way up. There's like over fifty different shops. Pretty go you you and louse who go? Should take it there for a date night. It grazedly but the kids, yees. So I played the Jaws pinny and this is what I was touching on. So there was a guy that was playing the Jaw sing for like half an hour. I just want to play one fucking game. I can you get off the machine? Eventually get off. I'll play it my first game, get like two different multi balls going. And Alliott was just looking at me like, oh it was a god. It was like, okay, good, my dad is. But there was a saying, you know when you get the free game, what happens when you get a free game and a penny? You remember what happens when you get a free game and a penny goes? Scared the ship out of Elliott. He thought, did something that happened? But yeah, so the Jaws penny was there, But yeah, Grazesland, I cannot recommend it. So there's plenty of stuff coming up that we're all looking forward to. I'm looking forward to. I know we've got a bit of superhero fatigue at the moment. There's a series coming up from our friends at HBO called Lantern's which is like Green Lantern Okay, but I think it's going to be hopefully a departure from the Ryan Reylds movie of a decade ago that was not good, was it? No? No? But this is supposedly like a space cop thing, but kind of in the vein of True Detective. It's treating a bit seriously, and it's got Kyle Chandler, an actor I really like, and a really good up and coming actor named Aaron Pierre. He was in a terrific Netflix movie. Called Rebel Ridge. Okay, gonna be a star this guy. So I know the kids are excited for the Mario movie, the new one, Oh Super Mario Galaxy. Yes, I'm surprised there are at more video game movies. I know they've got the Zelda one coming out soon. Sonic's done very well. Yes, I think see Sega whatever it is was, Nintendo owns it now anyway, don't they see I think? So it's like, I think Sonic did well of getting in before Mario because they were able to build that foundation that audience, because if Mario came out first, I feel like Sonic's always lived in the show, and it shouldn't for me because I've always prefers Ton to go to Maria. But Sonic's always lived in that shadow off Mario, and I'm just glad that Sonic has that. Are this sort of neck and neck, certainly when it comes to cinema. Yeah, I mean it's interesting You've got Yeah, you of course you can have another Minecraft movie because. That did so well. Yeah, true, next year, isn't it. Yeah, and you're gonna have You've got grown up versions of that as well. I mean, because you know, the last of us TV series has done very well? Has it? Though? Is the second season? I died in the ass? I mean people got Pedro Pascale Burnout Maybe I think they also got what's the name the chip that plays there? But Fallout is apparently doing very well on Amazon Prime as Yeah. Yeah, so it's TV. Yeah, but this is these are few things that we're looking forward to. Grace also asked reading any books at the moment. I just started last night reading the. New Gallagher's book, So it's no Gallia Leam Galliger talking about them when they split up to rejoining to mix money. And you also gave me the Vagabone book for Christmas as well. I did. That's Tim Curry's autobiography. You gave me a tripic book these Star Wars. How was it? It's good? Yeah? Yeah, man, so just full of great behind the scenes and artworks and bits and bobs of information. I was when I when toads our Man Toby, I went to his house pick it up with you grow different from work. I was like, this is a lot thicker than I expected to be, Like, it looks great. Oh yeah, so I'm very happy with that. I love. I love a book that just feels and looks like it's worth the money. Whenever I get books, I just get hardcovered every time. I don't. I hate paperback. I hate paperback. I prefer hardcover. Okay, where you're coming buying paperback up and know just the cover gets bent and it goes on the shelf and it's curled. And I wrote about this on social media long ago. It's like, now you always hurt the ones you love. I mean, if you love books, and I mean I've got some nice big coffee table books and. It's loved, like I don't want to crack. Your spine or you know, doggy your page or something like that. But you know, I look at the books on my shelf that look like it's like, well that's the one. They're the ones that I really like. Well, it's like going back to it. We got our pals at Headstart Toys sent the new power and just figures last year for the kids to do videos with, and looking at it, I said, I'll go get my megazoor toy from when I was a kid and was like, why is it all scratched and stuff? And I was like, because I fucking played with it. Toys are supposed to look like just yeah, swearing to me dad. The things are supposed to be played with, yeah yeah. But I yeah, do have like a big stack of books that I'm trying to either make my way through or like you're next on the list. Yeah. One of them is It's called The Uncool. It's the autobiography of Cameron Crowe, who the maker of Jerry Maguire and Say Anything and the writer of Fast Time is a Ridge One High and teenage rock journals still hang out with that movie, which one last times. Never seen it. That was like that was like nineteen eighty two, so that was your American pie right sort of. Yeah, Yeah, good. Movie, definitely worth checking out. It's got pen in one of his first sort of pen so it looks like crackaded pen. He looks like bugs Bunny's handed and we explode. It's the first I love that. Yeah, smoking darts indoors the Golden Life, right man, you can tell Sean p. Chris Clark asking us. What kept you guys in Geelong? Did you ever consider moving closer to Melbourne permanently? Never entered my mind once. And I need to be close to all all my illegitimate kids. Yeah no, no, I'm as I always say, well, I ran into a guy I went to school with. This weekend, lou Son Felix has started rowing crew and he was on the doing his first regapper on the Paren ran too. A guy that I was in boarding school with back going shit almost forty years ago. Now, brilliant guy, rural guy. He sort of looks like, looks like the kind of guy who you would see work in the land. I'm nosy, Yeah, I mean that, and I mean this is the most complimentary sense Ago marsh could this guy Marshally could just break me in into kindling with this pinky but a fantastic fella. And is oh you're stilling. I said, yeah, look you're sort of you go what's for you go is familiar, and you go what you can to afford. And also, I mean everything there. We are in Geelong. We're an hour from Melbourne, which has got anything else you might want. Gelong's got everything you need. And we're also twenty minutes from the Surfcoas and the Bellary Peninsula. Yeah, great parts of the world that are full of you know, great places to eat, you know, good places to just chill out on the beach. And every town has their negatives. Yeah, and Geelong got it's fash. Gelong's in a state of rebuild at the moment. It is so like people keep saying, look at the look at the centers, look at the town. At the moment, I'm like, it's being rebuilt. Like it's like, look at all the grafiti. I'm like, yes, but that's a construction site. They're knocking everything down and rebuilding it. It's going to take ten years. But once it's all done, see where it goes. Yeah, but the thing is hopeful. I never I never really appreciated Geelong as much until Nicholas family started coming visiting. They're like, got the beach right here, and like all these food places, and I was like, yeah, some good stuff. I guess that is pretty lucky. Oh yeah, yeah. The more we hang around the place, of course, you're going to see the negative aspects of it. Yeah, I mean when when it's viewed through fresh eyes, like, holy shir you guys are not far from the beach. Rachel McLean, what show or movie are you surprised the Simpsons haven't parodied? She's surprised with success popularity off the Office that they never did a parody of it. That's surprising as well. Yeah, a little bit of a sort of a mockumentary feel. Have they done that? Ever done that on the Simpsons at all? I'm assuming the problem something. I'm fine hard to be having an office parody in some way. But I did see a tweet yesterday that said, I think we as a society ready to move on from the Office. I think so. Yeah. I think when I started watching it and then obviously just got distracted and started watching something else, we didn't we enjoyed what we saw of it, but but we haven't finished the show obviously. Yeah, I never really got into it. I mean I like the UK original, and I'm not saying that to be like, oh the old Katie from the Office talk, oh you shout out, But when the American version started, I'm like, this doesn't really look like my jam. The afore mentioned Felix loose some. It's part of that generation that really sort of digs it. And of course it's when it's on Netflix. You can just have it on and a loop and just have it going, going, going, And I can see why people enjoyed in that sense. It's got that sort of it's got a bit of a warm, cozy feel to it, even when it's sort of being snarky. But no, and I could, when watching a couple of episodes back to back with him, like Okay, that's got good joke, construction Correl is doing a good job, and there's got a nut job. But it just wasn't my thing. I'm not a fan of like comedies that are too cozy. It's why I never got into Parks and rec. Yeah, I've never really watched Parks and rec I've never watched Brooklyn nine nine either, that's another show, a bit of Brooklyn n nine always. I've just think I just guess I wasn't really watching TV much at that point because I didn't watch any of these shows. I think you really have to sort of pick and choose. I mean, I think it was easier back in the day when you had a limited amount of stuff and it's like, oh, I can catch up with all of this. Yeah. Now, when there's so much stuff, it's like, I'm really going to choose my battles here. Yep. I remember you and Learn talking about like this could be like the best movie of the year, and I was like, sure about that for me? Anyway, I've had to see Marty Supreme, which is twenty twenty six here, but I think it's already out of States is I think it opened at the end of the year at least sort of had a brief run for the Ping Pong one. Right it is with Timothy Shallomy Shallowmy, Shallow Me. I'm just looking at twenty twenty five films. I don't know as I think. As we pointed out with lend as well during our most recent episode of the movie guid where we talked about what's coming up in twenty twenty six, there's a lot of good international stuff as well. I mean, I won't say necessarily crowdble, but stuff that's got, you know, like a bit of meat on the bone, like sentimental value, secret agent or no other choice. It was Roofman any good and no Roofman was already out. Yeah. Yeah, I have yet to see it, unfortunately. I mean I hear good things about it, but it's like one of those movies I was excited, but I was intrigued by the concept. Yeah. I think it's one of those movies where it's like, ah, this is one that I'll catch somewhere down the line, and when people do, it'll be like, why did no one tell me about Roofman? Yeah, it was really good. Yeah, it feels like one of those movies that I would would have found at the video shop. Yeah, it was a bit. I was trying to explain to Elliot too, because there was movies he was grabbing off the shop and he's gone, this looks good, and I'm like, remember when you just find movies? Yes, absolutely, you didn't have to look for it. It was just they were there and you looked at the carp and you're like, this looks good and it might be good. It might not be, but I'm going to take it up and give it a go. Oh yeah, you roll the dice. Absolutely, and then they a lot of the time they didn't work. But you know what, you paid money for it, so you sat and you fucking watched it. You didn't. Yeah, you can go ten minutes. Okay, let's see what else is on. Yeah, Netflix or Primer, Apple or whatever. I'm a big fan of the Final Destination movies, and this was full of good kills and gory stuff. Really cool spy movie called Black Bag with Michael Fassbender and Kate Blanchett from My Man, Steven Soderbergh You Reckoned the Oceans movies. I'm in love of Kate Blanchett. I just I love her, like I just I love them. My good friend from school, Anna went to Melbourne UNI and she was there at the same time as Kate Blanchett, and they're in a class together, and and I was like, even at nineteen, you. Were just like, who's that? Who's that? Goddess? Let me be near you? The odd she gets you just like hot damn indeed. So yeah, Black Bag is really really good. I like the Phoenician Scheme from My Men Anderson. Yeah, like the good movie I did. Yeah. Yeah, it's one of those ones where it's like, oh, he's just doing more of the same, he's just playing the hits, and then you're watching, Oh yeah, but he plays the hits better than anybody.
