Speaker 1: You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.

00:00:04
Speaker 2: Welcome to the program. It's our one on this Tuesday. Gangs here ready to go. Starting lineup, Fritzy Seat and Marv Paula, yours truly, and of course the valuable backroom guys, Reggie Miller. A little bit later on Phil Michelson's former caddie now a golf analyst for NBC, Jim Bones mackay will join us as well.

00:00:25
Speaker 3: Your phone calls always welcome.

00:00:26
Speaker 2: Every day, Tyler is sitting by at eight seven, seven to three DP show stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. In this first hour, the program brought to you by the folks who've been helping you for forty years. Tyrerack dot com. The way tire buying should be shipped, pasted, and free back by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, Play the Day, poll question stat of the Day, all of that forthcoming. Good morning if you're watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network, Thank you for downloading the app, and we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. Over four hundred cities that carry this program. All right, there's a couple of things going on. The Tiger Woods story is not just a sports story. It's a whole lot bigger than that. But next week is the Masters. Is Tiger going to go? Is Tiger going to go to the Champions dinner on Tuesday night? Tiger's also involved in a public golf course project there close to Augusta National. Will he go there for that? Is he going to play? Try to play in the Masters. If you've won the Masters, you get an invite. But now not all players who have won the Masters decide to play in the Masters. They become too old, they don't want to put up ninety five as their score. Tiger has not let Augusta National know if he's going to be there or not to participate. Now fifteen former winners have told the Masters they will not be participating in the actual tournament. As of this morning, Tiger has not let anybody know anything. There is a report that Tiger is still practicing, and that would give you maybe some credence to Tiger will still try to play at Augusta.

00:02:21
Speaker 3: Will he even go?

00:02:22
Speaker 2: You know, if he's not going to play Will he go to the Champions dinner on Tuesday night? He's got a press conference now, at least he was scheduled for a press conference to talk about this public golf course that they're launching in Augusta and he's part of it. He's part of the design team. Is he going to show up? They want Tiger there, they want him at a press conference. This is prior to his arrest. Is he going to go and if he goes, is he going to talk to the media? Will he say I can't talk about that, which I don't know who is who his advisors are, and what their game plan would be for something like that. Yes, but this was supposed to be a really big deal. I didn't think Tiger was going to play. But as I said yesterday, I've said a couple of times. There is a photograph of his private jet there in Augusta recently, and you usually go a couple of weeks prior if.

00:03:16
Speaker 3: You're going to be playing in the tournament.

00:03:19
Speaker 2: We'll talk to Jim Bones mackay, who now works for NBC, get his thoughts on the Tigers situation. He'll join us coming up next hour. Reggie in the final hour of the program. We've talked about it. I know I talk about it maybe too much, but keep this in mind. On March twenty fourth, Victor wemben Yama's MVP odds were plus twenty two hundred. As of this morning, they're listed at plus twenty five. Here he comes. He put up forty one. Last night, SGA put up forty seven. They won their sixtieth game. Reggie Miller texted me late last night and he said, I want to revisit the MVP conversation.

00:04:01
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:04:01
Speaker 2: Feels like reg was Reggie doing. I think it was doing the Thunder and the Knicks last night.

00:04:08
Speaker 4: Is that the Sunday night game he did Thunder?

00:04:10
Speaker 2: Okay, that's probably why he wants to talk about SGA. But you know, you get to your sixty wins if you have the most wins. I still think that SJA is going to be your MVP. But the fact that JJ Reddick, the Lakers head coach Donchik was suspended for his sixteenth technical so he didn't play. Lebron had a triple double last night, but JJ said, a the way Lucas playing, he would be my MVP. Well, I expect him to say that it would be news if he said, are you kidding? Sga is or Victor is going to be but you're going to give your guys support there.

00:04:48
Speaker 3: Luca to me, is still the best player in the game.

00:04:51
Speaker 2: He's not going to win, and you know, it can come down to subtle things like if Denver had the best record in the West, Joker would win the MVP. They're on a run. If the Spurs have the best record, then Wemby would probably be your MVP.

00:05:09
Speaker 3: Should it come down to who has the best record?

00:05:12
Speaker 2: Is that the most valuable You know, I've said before with Jalen Brown, you carry the Celtics for half the season, maybe three quarters of the season, Tatum comes back and now you're the team with the second best odds to win the championship behind OKC. Jalen Brown to me, I would put him ahead of Luca. I wouldn't put him ahead of Sga. I wouldn't put him ahead of Wemby. You could put him ahead of Joker and have a legitimate case. You know, his numbers aren't the same, but he's been great. He's been great for the Celtics. Quietly, this was supposed to be one of those well, this will be an off year. Maybe the Pistons of the team that plays for a championship out of the East, or maybe the Knicks, or maybe the Cavs. Now it's Boston with the second best odds of anybody to win the championship. The other story is Dan Hurley and his I don't even know how to describe this because it's not a headbutt, but it's almost a meeting of the minds where they touch foreheads after the shot, and you're thinking, what is he thinking to put yourself in a position like that where you're touching foreheads with the official with four tenths of a second left for you to go to the final four. Now, a lot of people this became more than just a basketball situation. Everybody has an opinion because if I look at this and I listened to social media, you know Danny Hurley is polarizing, but it doesn't look good. But I have to put it in context here, and I think that's the hard part for people, because you've already made up your mind that Dan Hurley, why would he be taunting the official when you just hit a shot four tenths of a second, Your team is leading and Seth Davis from CBS said, for context, the referee is Roger Ayres. He's worked multiple Final fours, known for his toughness and his sense of humor. This struck me as Danny Hurley messing with a buddy more than intimidating a ref This is after the Mullen shot, so Hurley was obviously.

00:07:29
Speaker 3: Not mad at the officials.

00:07:32
Speaker 2: Social media wasn't his kind and didn't offer that context here.

00:07:36
Speaker 3: Why no technical?

00:07:38
Speaker 5: Well?

00:07:39
Speaker 2: I kept saying, Okay, what is the context of this? Has Danny Hurley been interviewed since this to ask about this moment? I haven't seen anything, but I'm surprised. I would figure local media availability somebody would ask him about that. But I don't think Danny Hurley would pay that moment to try to intimidate the referee.

00:08:04
Speaker 3: Because you're already leading. That would cost you the game.

00:08:08
Speaker 2: It felt like, hey, that was a moment almost, you know, like, how do you like them apples? That's the feeling I got, you know, Matt Damon and Goodwill Hunting, how do you like them apples? Maybe he's saying, hey, what do you think of that? But I haven't heard anything from him. But the context of it I think is important with this official veteran official and their relationship, I don't know, but I would love to find that out if somebody is. I mean, we weren't going to ask for Dan Hurley again. He joined us last week and gave us a lot of time. But I haven't even seen a statement that. If I'm Yukon the sports information director, can you put out a statement there, when is their media availability for Dan Hurley and Connecticut? Because it is a bit big deal and he's polarizing to start with. And look, I've watched that video fifty times.

00:09:07
Speaker 3: It feels like.

00:09:09
Speaker 2: I just I come away with these same what the hell is going on here? Like I've seen a lot in forty years doing this. That's wild. You're gonna you're gonna touch foreheads. I can't say it's ahead butt, it's not. But I'd love to hear from the official. Hey, I've known Hurley. You know we went back and forth. You know, whatever your.

00:09:38
Speaker 3: Reasoning is on this or description is on this, Yes, Marvin.

00:09:42
Speaker 6: I've seen the meeting of the minds between players, maybe the coach and mullins. If they would have done that, that would have been fine. But the ref that's almost like doing that the john Shire.

00:09:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just wild, Yes, Todd.

00:09:55
Speaker 4: You don't want to know or believe that a coach and a ref our buddies. At the very it's a bad look. So that's that's the only little problem I have there. If it's being described as that's just something between two buddies, that's just not well.

00:10:07
Speaker 2: I don't think that's correct. I don't think they're buddies, but I think there's familiarity there that they're both competitors. I don't know if unless Danny Hurley comes out and says, oh, yeah, man, we socialize.

00:10:19
Speaker 3: We're buddies, you know, on and off the court.

00:10:22
Speaker 2: I mean, if he says that, then yeah, that you can read into that however you want to that. Well, he's got his buddy out there. They travel in the same circles and you know, this official has done some final fours. I'm assuming they cross paths quite a bit if they're playing in big games.

00:10:40
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:10:40
Speaker 7: See, that's actually a bigger problem if they're like, well, we're buddies on and off the court, Like yeah, okay, that's not supposed to be happening.

00:10:46
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:10:47
Speaker 7: I do find though that the more like you. I've watched it a good jillion times, and it gets kind of more bizarre slash more amusing each time that I watch it. The thing though, that I keep coming back to is you. Obviously you watch Dan early in that moment, you're like, dude, what is this guy doing? But when you watch the ref he has no reaction. He doesn't even it's not even odd to him at all. In the moment. If some dude came up to you and put his forehead on your forehead, ninety nine point nine percent of people would be like, yo, what.

00:11:14
Speaker 8: Are you doing?

00:11:15
Speaker 5: Dude?

00:11:15
Speaker 7: Yes, well the heck, because it's just an odd motion to make. This guy is like just going through to the scorers table, almost like ah, I gotta see how much time is left, you know, like he's just doing business, get out of my face kind of thing.

00:11:26
Speaker 9: He didn't even.

00:11:27
Speaker 3: He didn't even react at all to it.

00:11:29
Speaker 2: And usually you would get the almost overreaction if somebody was trying to head butt you, you would bounce back, flop, but there was no emotion. There was I mean there was pause, but then that was it. He just kept moving to the scorers table because he wanted to get the exact time. Then you know, all of a sudden, it's three tenths of a second instead of four tenths of a second, or maybe it's four tenths of a second. But Hurley is a mess, you know, his jacket is kind of on and off, and he's walking down, can't believe what just happened. And then all of a sudden he sees him coming and it might have been something as hey, what do you think of that?

00:12:07
Speaker 3: And then they move on.

00:12:09
Speaker 10: Yeah, PAULI like you, guys, I've watched this twenty times and if you had to describe this to someone, it's almost hard to find the words. It's like Danny Hurley was speaking in tongues or having an outer body moment because he turns and they kind of run into each other. And then if you keep watching the video, there's a longer video. The ref goes to the scores table, doesn't say anything back and is working on the rest of the game.

00:12:29
Speaker 2: And Hurley just goes back to the bench and resumes coaching. But yes, it was a If you look at the headlines there, you know it's a Headbud's official why not a technical call to mean social media and I get it.

00:12:44
Speaker 3: I get it.

00:12:45
Speaker 2: Any other coach, we probably would have been a little more lenient. And if John Shier did that and they had a shot, big shot, now he could have done it to the official after Mullins hits the shot.

00:12:59
Speaker 3: Like what the hell? Oh what just happened here?

00:13:02
Speaker 10: Yeah, Paul, the headlines are fascinating all over the country, even international headlines. Dan Hurley headbutts ref. Dan Hurley physically confronts ref. And there's real people that were bothered by this. Terry McAuley is the NBC rules official. He said he was disappointed that the official didn't do his job and tee up Danny Hurley in the moment.

00:13:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's why I think we need context here, and we need it from Dan Hurley.

00:13:26
Speaker 3: And the official.

00:13:27
Speaker 2: I think this is really important and I would hope that somebody can get, you know, some kind of statement or if Dan Hurley wants to join us and talk about that great or the official. Do the officials do any interviews?

00:13:42
Speaker 11: Todd?

00:13:42
Speaker 3: Can we get Roger Airs?

00:13:44
Speaker 4: We'll certainly ask is.

00:13:45
Speaker 3: He I don't think he's working this weekend, so he's got some time. We could sometimes umps and ref.

00:13:50
Speaker 4: There's all kinds of rules about that, but we say no.

00:13:52
Speaker 10: Thisy No, Yeah, Paul, he might be recovering from the attall. Look, we should be give a little patient PTSD. He's been discharge from the hospital.

00:14:00
Speaker 2: We do know, oh, post traumatic stress Danny h PTSD.

00:14:06
Speaker 3: Alrighty, Seaton, we got a pull question today.

00:14:08
Speaker 2: You know what, Let's take a break break. I think this is taking a break worthy breakworthy? Yeah, I think so. We'll get phone calls coming up. NFL league meetings are underway. Interesting topic. That's not a topic. But I know why it's not a topic. We'll have that for you coming up as well. We're back after this Dan Patrick's Show.

00:14:31

00:15:11
Speaker 2: Betting lines for the Final four one game has changed. Illinois now favored by two and a half against Connecticut, was one and a half yesterday. Michigan is still favored by one and a half against Arizona. Arizona and Michigan of the same odds to win the national title. Then it's Illinois and then Connecticut. Ann Hurley situation evoked a lot of emotion from a lot of people, even those not in the basketball world, but those in that basketball world like Seth Greenberg from the Mothership had this to say about the Danny Hurley moment, this.

00:15:48
Speaker 3: Sixuation right now.

00:15:49
Speaker 13: First of all, Roger Ears is the best official golf college basket was tremendous communicator. There isn't and he writes a ton of my games.

00:15:56
Speaker 3: There were games where he's put his.

00:15:58
Speaker 4: Arm around me, walk me back to my bench.

00:15:59
Speaker 13: Was high where he said, Seth, that's enough. But that situation right there, that is absolutely nothing. I talked to Roger today. He said, what are you talking about? He literally didn't know what I was talking about. He said, nothing, happened. The ball went in. I was running back, they were celebrating. Danny leaned in said something to me. I said something to him. It was absolutely enough. So you're saying that was coach fired up in his own way in the moment and official interacting with him, which is that guy who's the best communicator in all of college basketball as an official guy, you had won on every single one of your games home road, favored, not favored. And then I spoke to Dan as well. Yeah, and Dan said he didn't understand what was going on. He has so much respect for Roger. It's never had a problem with him. Now he's been walked back. They all have during the course of a game. But that, literally, that was social media trying to create something out of nothing because of Dan Hurley's allegedly reputation.

00:16:53
Speaker 2: No, it's not allegedly reputation. It's a well earned reputation. Here, I want to know what was saying. I give you're going to talk to both parties, then tell me what was said. That'll put it in better context here. I mean, two things could be true. They could have a moment there. You could read into it and say, boy, that's strange. But it could also be it's nothing okay, but I'd like to know the words that were exchanged. Was it, hey take that or hey man, unbelievable shot. Okay, But that's what I'd like to know. And that's where I think put out a statement here unless they want, you know, this to kind of linger and then lead into that game and then CBS is gonna, you know, blow this up, you know, once they get ready for that game.

00:17:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, Pauline, I decided.

00:17:47
Speaker 10: To watch it one more time, the longest version I.

00:17:50
Speaker 5: Can of it.

00:17:51
Speaker 10: I'm further from figuring out what's going on it. Dan Hurley's jacket is a skew. He just had one of the greatest shots in Yukon history, and he looks like he's looking for something and he just goes eyeball to eyeball with this reft for two seconds, with this weird look on his face, and then goes back and starts celebrating. It's as odd as it gets.

00:18:12
Speaker 2: Jim and Florida, Hi, Jim, good morning. What do you have for me today?

00:18:16
Speaker 4: Hey?

00:18:16
Speaker 5: Dan, Dad? Now everyone's making a big deal about this. I mean, he probably neither one of them.

00:18:23
Speaker 9: I got two.

00:18:23
Speaker 5: Things, but neither one of them. Probably remember all we said it.

00:18:26
Speaker 9: Was just basic basketball talk because he wanted to make sure the rest could hear him.

00:18:31
Speaker 5: I'm imagining it was.

00:18:32
Speaker 3: Pretty loud at that time. You know, well, Dad Shirt.

00:18:36
Speaker 5: He's celeb brighton all right, man, I'm trying to you know, you got to get in his ear.

00:18:40
Speaker 3: Thank you, Jim.

00:18:41
Speaker 2: I don't know if I've heard that excuse that it was loud in there so he had to touch foreheads there, But thank you for the phone call.

00:18:49
Speaker 3: Robert and Sacramento. Hi, Robert, what's on your mind today?

00:18:53
Speaker 5: Hey?

00:18:53
Speaker 14: Guys love the show for two things. One, welcome to the Rectech family.

00:18:59
Speaker 3: Baby had mine for nine years. Good, it's awesome.

00:19:03
Speaker 5: I have a five ninety. It's a beast. I use it twice a week.

00:19:06
Speaker 14: Secondly, Roger Ayres is the Bruce Freming Joe West of college basketball. And I'm willing to bet all the money in my pocket against my ex wife wife that. He looked at Danny Hurley and said.

00:19:22
Speaker 5: That's going to cost you some ni all money.

00:19:26
Speaker 3: Thank you, Robert.

00:19:28
Speaker 2: I'd just like to know what words were exchanged if you know. Here is Seth Greenberg, former coach, well connected. He talked to Danny. You talked to the official. Okay, then what was said? Now you might get I don't even remember what I said in the moment, Yes, Ton, I.

00:19:47
Speaker 4: Feel like it almost works to Dan Hurley as a danage because I'm not just crazy Dan Hurley. Like if it was some other coach, almost any other coach, it would be even a bigger deal.

00:19:54
Speaker 3: It's like, what is going on?

00:19:55
Speaker 5: How did that happen?

00:19:56
Speaker 4: But because it's Dan Hurley, you could almost wink at it because he's just a little insane.

00:20:02
Speaker 3: I think that's a very valid point. Andrew in Washington, Hi Andrew.

00:20:08
Speaker 9: Good morning Dan, and then thanks for taking my call.

00:20:10
Speaker 5: I have something on Dan Hurley.

00:20:12
Speaker 8: But then also a stat of the day.

00:20:14
Speaker 5: I don't know.

00:20:15
Speaker 9: Maybe it's a Duke fan in me, but I think it's a tee. I think he just squared up at the ref real quick and in a big moment for him to show up the refs.

00:20:23
Speaker 3: But why would he do that in that moment.

00:20:26
Speaker 9: Because he can't control himself and he wants to show who's you said, he he's a control freak. He wants to show who's actually in control.

00:20:33
Speaker 5: Of the game.

00:20:34
Speaker 9: I did this even though you didn't call the game.

00:20:37
Speaker 3: I wanted.

00:20:37
Speaker 9: If you see how he walks away, he does that fake tough guy walk away. He kind of takes his shoulder up, it's out of the jacket and he kind of huffs and puffs back over. I think he caught himself in the revenue. He caught himself, so that's why I wasn't. But if you lip read, I do think he's saying, who do you think you are?

00:20:52
Speaker 5: I am, So that's no.

00:20:56
Speaker 2: I don't know if Hurley's saying anything bye. If Seth Greenberg talked to the parties and they both said they said something and then moved on, tell me what you said, boy, unbelievable shot the kid hit? Yeah, yeah, you know whatever?

00:21:14
Speaker 3: Yes, bully.

00:21:15
Speaker 10: The only thing I could think of is he knows the ref is going to the scores table to look at how much time is on the clock after the Mallin's shot, and he's trying to send a message, keep it friendly, don't add too much time. What else could he be discussing, No idea, that's the only moment left in the game to be decided.

00:21:33
Speaker 2: I don't think he's using the moment to say, Hey, who's in control? Now because he's still not in control the official is. Because the official is so much in control, he's going to go over there and change the clock. The time on the clock. He's in control. Do I think it's an out of body experience for Dan Hurley?

00:21:54
Speaker 5: Yes?

00:21:54
Speaker 3: I do.

00:21:55
Speaker 2: You're down nineteen, you've got no chance. Duke's playing so well then, and you have a chance. You whittle it down, You whittle it down. All they got to do is get the ball into the front court and they're going to win the game. Tipped pass, passed to here, pass to here, shot up, boom, and then all of a sudden craziness and then he's walking around like a peacock. He's proud of his team. And then you see he's the official, and maybe there's that Hey, that was pretty f an unbelievable, and maybe the official said yep or whatever. But I'd still like to know the context of that because that would help the situation here, because if Danny Hurley said, hey, we overcame your officiating or something crazy that that would be, then then we could add credence to this.

00:22:53
Speaker 6: Yes, Marvin, if he said something like take that, that would have been.

00:22:56
Speaker 3: Like yep, tech right, there.

00:22:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Tim in Ohio, Hi Tim, what's on your mind today?

00:23:06
Speaker 5: Hey? BP? First time, long time, five ten, two thirty. So I know SGA is going to likely win the MVP. And while he had forty seven points last night against the Pistons, twenty one of those we're from twenty five free throw attempts and okay, see only had seventeen team assists. Meanwhile, you have Wemby over there having forty one points and he only had four free throw points on four free throw attempts, and the Spurs had thirty one team assists. So the heere. I just think it's way more pleasant to watch Wemby and the Spurs, and I think that's a reason going forward the SGA might not get a more MVPs after this year.

00:23:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.

00:23:51
Speaker 2: He's been great for a great team and he proved that greatness in the playoffs as well. Because we want to see that. We wanted to see it from Yannis. You wanted to see it from Joker, You wanted to see it from Embiid, you want to see it from Luca, all the great players, the current Grey Anthony Edwards, you want to see what are you doing when you get to the playoffs that will make us CO sign on this MVP and SGA start to finish was incredible last year. Does he know how to draw founds? Yes, he does well. I know it's not aesthetically pleasing, but neither was when James Harden was doing this as well, trying to draw founds, or Trey Young trying to draw founds. This is up to the NBA and the officials to maybe relearn what you're going to call and not call. They're the ones calling it. SJ puts himself in the position you don't have to call it. But SGA is almost making you make these calls. And he's got the ball. He's ball dominant. He gets in the lane, he makes contact. I think he initiates. They allow to allow him to initiate more contact than they should. That's my problem with that. But he's not doing anything illegal. Yeah, so I.

00:25:10
Speaker 7: Would disagree with that that he's not doing anything illegal. He doesn't draw contact in the same way that James Harden does. Only he straight up last night, took a dude by the shoulder, pushed him off of him, and took a step back and shot it. I mean, that's very clearly against the rules. So he does that a lot, But why don't they call them correct? I think, well, I think they're starting to call it. They're definitely once a the defender has a trick now where when they get pushed off like that, they just stop playing and.

00:25:37
Speaker 3: Throw their arms up like this is stupid.

00:25:38
Speaker 7: Yeah, and that's starting to get attention, and that is going to start backfiring for sure, because it can't be that egregious where he's clearly shoving people off of him like that, not with his shoulder, not even an elbow, like a fully extended arm, and still not getting.

00:25:53
Speaker 2: But there has to be a height and awareness with the NBA Home office and with the officials that they would be looking for this. And that's what's surprising. If you know that he's going to do this, it just feels like it's up to you, the official, to call this or not call this. And if you're not calling it, why didn't you call that? Because they get graded after every game, and I would think, and you know this decides if you're going to have postseason games as well, what's your grade?

00:26:23
Speaker 3: I'd be curious about that. Yeah, Paul, So.

00:26:25
Speaker 10: The thunder beat the Pistons last night in overtime, but with five seconds left, Sga drives right, he puts out a forearm and he hits a jumper to take the lead. Of five seconds left. They called an offensive file on Sga and his face is incredulous. But that sent that game to overtime. If they happen to lose that game, I could see this getting a lot more coverage. But they did call it on the final drive of the regular time.

00:26:49
Speaker 3: Kurtin Baltimore, Good morning, Kurt, what's on your mind? Good morning, Dan, Good morning.

00:26:55
Speaker 8: Well, the reason they called that follows because Bickerstaff, the coach, park down the referee right before that call because he was pushing off the whole game. And they do call him the follow merchant. So it just it's kind of hard to watch because the other day he told us to watch the whole game. I watched the whole game till one o'clock in the morning, and I was just like, wow.

00:27:16
Speaker 3: Yes, you know. And that's a great point that you make, Kurt.

00:27:20
Speaker 2: I always say, watch a game, you know, have the total context of how a game is called, how a player plays, and if you watch an OKC game, Sga initiates contact. It feels like almost every time down the floor.

00:27:36
Speaker 7: Yes and see no, I again, I would disagree. They didn't call that because the coach was complaining. They called that foul because he didn't use his fore arm. He used the palm of his hand on the guy's shoulder and used his full extended arm to push him five feet that way way while he took a step five feet the other way to hit a shot. It was so obviously an offensive foul and that they finally called.

00:27:57
Speaker 3: It the jake in Ohio. Hi, Jacob, what's on your mind?

00:28:04
Speaker 5: Hey Dan?

00:28:05
Speaker 15: You hear me?

00:28:06
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:28:07
Speaker 5: All right?

00:28:08
Speaker 15: Five eleven and a pulkratudinous one eighty three, And I've got a quick story about Sunday night with the Yukon Duke game and then a marriage question for you guys. So I'm watching the end of the game, ten seconds left, goes to the line and my buddy's got duke winning his bracket. He checks his phone to see what happens. He looks at the score, puts his phone down and walks away. So we knew something big happened. One of our leaders for our group, Bible Group, sent a screenshot of the end of the game to one of my buddies to spoil the ending. So we kind of had that miraculous March moment taken away from us, probably the worst experience knowing what could have happened. And then my question for you guys is I'm getting married in April. I make a bracket every year and hanging up on my wall. If my fiance is not okay with me continuing that, is that something I need to have a discussion with or is it kind of like what do you guys think I should do about that?

00:29:12
Speaker 3: Thank you well, I would say this to you, Jacob.

00:29:15
Speaker 2: If filling out a bracket and hanging it on the wall is going to be a problem, then I'm worried about you.

00:29:22
Speaker 3: I'm going to take Lee under in this marriage.

00:29:25
Speaker 2: But maybe you put it some other place And are you putting this in like the living room or the bedroom? Where are you putting a Jacob?

00:29:34
Speaker 15: So I can maybe send a picture on Twitter or email whatever you guys do. But it isn't like just a typical, just normal bracket. I do like take four poster boards together, tape it. It takes up a majority of my wall, and I like write the names of the teams in different colors. I draw the logos, so it's like an official March Madness bracket and I've been filling out for a while.

00:29:57
Speaker 3: Now, Okay, what room is it?

00:29:59
Speaker 15: In the living room right beside the TV?

00:30:06
Speaker 3: I would suggest that you take it out of the living.

00:30:09
Speaker 15: Room, all right.

00:30:18
Speaker 3: And not in the bedroom. Not in the living room.

00:30:22
Speaker 2: Maybe if there's an office or a man cave, or maybe out in the garage.

00:30:28
Speaker 3: But yeah, I would say that.

00:30:34
Speaker 2: I mean, I hope this doesn't you know, and the relationship here due to March Madness, but it's good to know now how she feels.

00:30:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, there's still still married.

00:30:44
Speaker 15: About Sorry, we're getting married about twenty five days. So just wanted to ask you guys before it happened.

00:30:51
Speaker 2: Okay, what if she said about the brackets that are on the living room walls?

00:30:57
Speaker 8: Uh?

00:30:58
Speaker 15: Well, I made him when she was over here, and she kind of gave me a confused look while I was making a bracket for two and a half hours because I kind of take it really serious. But I mean, she thinks I do a good job making it. It's not like it's a crappy bracket. I put time and effort into it if she likes it, she likes she likes that aspect of it, and she likes basketball. But yeah, during marriage, just never know whatever.

00:31:23
Speaker 2: But yeah, she's gonna want to, you know, nice up the house a little bit. You don't want to have people over and you got you know, big poster boards in there. But yeah, you know, it's it's all about picking your battles here, all right. How important is this, Jacob. That's what it comes down to that if you say, nope, this is my house and I want to have my brackets up there for a month, and it's a deal breaker.

00:31:50
Speaker 4: But Todd, I think she needs to embrace his passions and his interests. It's a few weeks out of a year. It's not like he's keeping up the football standings from like September to February.

00:31:59
Speaker 3: It's a few weeks out of the year.

00:32:00
Speaker 4: I must have having some kind of special event where family and friends are coming over, and she'd be embarrassed by having this thing on the wall. I say, wink at it.

00:32:06
Speaker 6: It's a few weeks out of the year.

00:32:07
Speaker 2: Well, I can't have it in the living room. I can't when you get married, I can't have that. Jacob I'm sorry. I gotta I gotta draw a line. You gotta give her, you know, half the half the room in there. Well, maybe you give her all of the room in there. You go put it out and grow.

00:32:24
Speaker 3: Ye, that's what that is.

00:32:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, we're all counting on you, Jacob. You know what, send a picture, h Tyler will put you on hold. I want to see what this setup looks like. But thank you, Jacob, been good luck. Thank you alrighty.

00:32:43
Speaker 7: Yeah see, there's a reason man caves were invented, and it was can I just have one room in the house that I can put my stuff in?

00:32:50
Speaker 16: And?

00:32:50
Speaker 3: Please?

00:32:50
Speaker 5: Can I?

00:32:50
Speaker 7: Can I just have one room in the house that's like, hey, this is the way I want it to be.

00:32:54
Speaker 3: Please, yes, Paul.

00:32:55
Speaker 10: Every year of marriage you get squeezed a little bit more out of your house, whether it's your garage or your office or your man cave. If you have kids now they're taking over your bathroom or the man cave becomes a playroom. You have to find one dedicated room and own it.

00:33:11

I was watching Pardon the Interruption last night and Michael Wilbon was talking about how this embarrasses the umpire.

00:34:36
Speaker 3: It does, but it also.

00:34:39
Speaker 2: Embarrasses the player when the umpire gets the call wrong and he strikes out and walks back to the dugout. But yes, everybody in the building knows the umpire screwed up. But keep this in mind. We're moving full speed. You know what we have. You know, you can challenge now, but by next year, I'd be surprised if this just isn't every single call that it is, you know, the automated balls and strikes, because this slows down the game. You're trying to speed up the game when you challenge, and here's five times they have to stop the game and then all of a sudden you got to wait for the replay. Now I love it, I want it, I want you know, the game called that way, because I do think that the technology to embrace this and make it, you know, kind of a game show feel on the scoreboard, how you dress it up, what it looks like. Now I've taken the umpire's feelings out of this, or credibility out of this. Now it's just here's the call. These are the calls. This is how we're calling it, and the umpire will be at home plate. You still have to have an umpired home plate for you know, fair and foul down the line to play at the plate. You know, if there's uh, you know, tipped ball catcher's interference because people think, oh, there won't be an umpire back there.

00:36:00
Speaker 3: No, you have to have one back there.

00:36:03
Speaker 2: But I do think the automated balls and strikes, I like it, but I want to go all in. I don't want it to be where now there's strategy to it, novelty to it. I get that, but I think baseball is moving forward and if it's all about you speeding up the game, then don't have these challenges because that slows down the game.

00:36:24
Speaker 3: This in from TMZ.

00:36:26
Speaker 2: Tiger Woods when he had his accident, had hydra codone pills in his pocket. That is a potent opioid. It is used to treat moderate to severe chronic pain due to high addiction abuse respiratory depression risk. It's a scheduled to control substance. If you've ever been on hydro codone, then you know that feeling. Having used that before for my knee replacement surgery and quickly got off of that. Man percocet some of these other drugs like they do their job because you get this warm feeling and it's like, all right, I could get used to this. That's the problem. People get used to this. But for Tiger, he there's no alcohol. But from what I've been told, he's not a drinker. But you know these painkills prescriptions. Who is prescribing him these prescriptions too? Is somebody just giving it to it? I mean, yes, it starts with Tiger, but there's got to be culpability here.

00:37:48
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:37:48
Speaker 10: Point this TMZ report. They obtained the arrest effidavit, so it's based on not scuttle butt but the actual paperwork of the arrest.

00:37:56
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:37:57
Speaker 2: But I don't know what's going to happen if Tiger is going to go to Augusta, and if he goes there for a golf project. But yeah, I'm I'm not quite sure, not quite sure what the game plan would be for next week with Tiger. If you have he's going to be holding a press conference to draw attention to this golf project that he's doing there. The Champions dinner is there? Is he actually going to try to play man? Tricky stuff?

00:38:28
Speaker 3: Uh? Zach and Knoxville, Hey, Zach, what's on your mind?

00:38:33
Speaker 17: ADP, thanks for taking my call. You've briefly said that you thought Luca is the best player in the game right now.

00:38:42
Speaker 15: No, I think that Joker.

00:38:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, oh yeah, yeah, Joker. Joker is the best player.

00:38:48
Speaker 5: In the game.

00:38:49
Speaker 17: Okay, Well that was going to be My question is if not for longevity, because I know it would be Wimby.

00:38:54
Speaker 3: But I just I think that Luca is such.

00:38:58
Speaker 17: A liability on the d defensive end, and I know Joker is not an enforcer.

00:39:03
Speaker 15: But well, there goes my question.

00:39:06
Speaker 17: Then would you would you start your team with Joker if you just had to have him for a season, or Wemby or Luca?

00:39:13
Speaker 2: I would take Wemby, But you know, once again, it's what makes you valuable, what makes you the best player. Luca's doing stuff that's never been done before, and at that position it is commonplace for him to have. I mean, he's going to lead the league in assist he's up there in rebounds, he's up there in points. I mean, it's remarkable. But Wemby, what he's doing offensively and defensively, I would want that on my team. I just think what Joker does is different than anybody else, And for everybody who says, oh, Luca doesn't play defense, where are all those people who voted for James Harden for MVP. If you're going to say that about Luca, where were you with James Harden because he doesn't play defense at all? But I never heard that. I never heard people saying, you know, but he didn't play defense. It was like, James Harden is a bucket, and yes he is, but he's a bucket for the other team occasionally as well.

00:40:18
Speaker 3: Eric and Salt Lake City? Hi, Eric, Hey, what's up?

00:40:22
Speaker 6: Dan?

00:40:23
Speaker 16: I got three things.

00:40:23
Speaker 5: I'll keep it quick.

00:40:24
Speaker 16: First things. First, I'm not a gambler, but I've never heard so much of a short saying I too, am taking the under on Jake's marriage. Second thing, Lebron James. I was watching Austin Rivers last night do the commentary, and I realized Lebron came into the league, is still in the league. And in that time, Austin Rivers played his career at Duke, then played his his whole NBA career, and then got this broadcasting job, and Lebron is still triple double machine, super fun. And then three get Pauli and the IT Team on It, because if you zoom in on Dan Hurley's mouth, he's basically saying, Hey, Dan Patrick is retiring in a couple of years and we would love to see him reignite that beef with Colin Coward.

00:41:14
Speaker 2: Mm oh, thank you, Eric. Big wind up, big wind up with the pitch. Yeah, we're not We're not reigniting anything. There nothing to see Phil Mickelson's former caddy, James Jim Bones Mackay coming up.
