<v Speaker 1>I think they wouldn't be that lacking in the imagination.
<v Speaker 1>They go the Simpsons Movie two, the Simpsons Movie something
<v Speaker 1>we don't really get numbers, or do we get numbers anymore.
<v Speaker 1>We occasionally do, but that's usually with announcements, you know,
<v Speaker 1>like when Disney will say we've got new product coming up,
<v Speaker 1>and it'll be like Toy Story five, Incredibles three and
<v Speaker 1>all that. But I think a lot of the times
<v Speaker 1>you'll be finding that, you know, they'll come up with
<v Speaker 1>new titles or subtitles like all the Mission Impossible movies,
<v Speaker 1>for instance, or were like Ghost Protocol or Rogue Nation
<v Speaker 1>or The Final Reckoning or you know, fast than the
<v Speaker 1>Furious became, well they had numbers for a while, but
<v Speaker 1>they also became the Fate of the Furious and all
<v Speaker 1>that kind of stuff. So hopefully they do a bit
<v Speaker 1>of wordplay. We would expect as much from the makers
<v Speaker 1>of The Simpsons, wouldn't.
<v Speaker 2>We would indeed, yes. And I'll tell you what, I'm
<v Speaker 2>really excited. It's been, as I said, twenty years since
<v Speaker 2>the first movie. I did see an interesting tweet that
<v Speaker 2>said more time will transpire between the two Simpsons movies
<v Speaker 2>than between the show start and the original Simpsons movie.
<v Speaker 2>Oh wow, because it was season eighteen. That's not at
<v Speaker 2>all sobering. Twenty years between sequels. That's a long time.
<v Speaker 2>I'm just sitting here thinking, I wonder if what are
<v Speaker 2>I gonna do?
<v Speaker 1>Because my grit were the first Simpsons movie was that.
<v Speaker 2>I really enjoyed the first half an hour because I've
<v Speaker 2>always said on the podcast, I'm a big fan of
<v Speaker 2>when they incorporate as many characters as possible town based stories,
<v Speaker 2>and that's what the first movie felt like. For the
<v Speaker 2>first half an hour. A lot of Simpsons characters were involved.
<v Speaker 2>Then they left the dome, and once they left the
<v Speaker 2>dome and it almost felt like Springfield became forgotten. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>just the thought got back to and cut back to
<v Speaker 2>and cut back to my way, that's what's going on
<v Speaker 2>in the dome. But it's a margin Homer crisis, I
<v Speaker 2>think for the Simpsons movie too, or it sounds sun
<v Speaker 2>that the Simpsons movie too. The Simpsons sequel, I'm going
<v Speaker 2>to call it that. Let's not have a margin Homer
<v Speaker 2>crisis story.
<v Speaker 1>We don't need those anymore.
<v Speaker 2>We've had thirty plus years of that. Let's think of
<v Speaker 2>something original. Another grit was always you brought in this
<v Speaker 2>villain that nobody really cared about, still voiced by Albert Brooks.

<v Speaker 2>Hank Scorpio.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know. I've forgotten even the name of the
<v Speaker 1>of the of the villain rough something right, Russ Cargill was, Yeah,

<v Speaker 2>The more I think about it, I don't know whether
<v Speaker 2>Hank Scorpio would have been a good idea. It would
<v Speaker 2>have been good for the hardcore fans, but as Matt
<v Speaker 2>Salmon and algef said, since you can't just appeal to
<v Speaker 2>the hard course, you've got to appeal to a widespread audience,
<v Speaker 2>and they would have. They were worried that if you
<v Speaker 2>introduced Hank Scorpio there would have been his expectation from
<v Speaker 2>the writers that you know this guy, so I don't
<v Speaker 2>to explain to who he is, which is why the
<v Speaker 2>way with Russ car Gill, I still wish they had
<v Speaker 2>in Corporate I missed.
<v Speaker 1>Honestly, I think it's about as much work introducing a
<v Speaker 1>new villain as it is reintroducing an old one. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and in fact, the fact that Hanks Godby is a
<v Speaker 1>pretty loved character or a pretty well.
<v Speaker 2>He appeared in one episode though well true, but he's
<v Speaker 2>very profound Well.
<v Speaker 1>Having said that. I mean, if he's only got one
<v Speaker 1>episode worth a backstory, it can't be that difficult to
<v Speaker 1>reintroduce him and give him motivation to be part of
<v Speaker 1>this news story. I think they kind of dropped the
<v Speaker 1>ball in all one. So I mean, it's great getting
<v Speaker 1>out of Brooks back, and you know he always delivers. Yeah.

<v Speaker 2>I think now you could bring back a hang scorpio
<v Speaker 2>and even the casual person will go, oh, yes, that
<v Speaker 2>guy from the Simpsons because it's just been so all

<v Speaker 1>I mean, I think having them as the center, it's
<v Speaker 1>too much wear and tear and it's going to be

<v Speaker 1>I was thinking was, yeah, the two thousand and seven
<v Speaker 1>movie was kind of like a disaster movie in a
<v Speaker 1>lot of ways. It used disaster movie tropes, like with

<v Speaker 1>think in the in the two thousands. I'm wondering what's

<v Speaker 2>as Springfield based as possible. Don't try and incorporate all

<v Speaker 1>and make them kind of fish out of water, you know,
<v Speaker 1>not just a Simpsons family, but you know, and have

<v Speaker 1>there's a very unimagined wacky team. But yeah, put Lenny

<v Speaker 1>this is a movie that's going to appeal to a
<v Speaker 1>lot of people. We're going to make a big screen
<v Speaker 1>spectacle that's going to appeal to a lot of people,
<v Speaker 1>and within that we can include not even just Easter.
<v Speaker 1>I mean we can involve jokes and storylines and bits
<v Speaker 1>and pieces of all sizes. Three people will get that,
<v Speaker 1>but the three people who'll get that joke will fucking
<v Speaker 1>love it. Yeah, thirty percent of the population or the
<v Speaker 1>audience will get that and they're that's hilarious. And it's
<v Speaker 1>also a call back to that episode that I remember.

<v Speaker 1>I can't imagine it's going to be that much longer

<v Speaker 2>guest stars on, but they were playing characters.

<v Speaker 2>to be coming in between the two Marvel films. We
