Yeah, it's the Internet. You're busy. I'm Jeff Grub, this is Grub Snacks, and I'm I'm wearing these sunglasses to signify that it's it's vacation time for me. It's late August. Madden hasn't come out yet, so it's okay for a video game journalist to take a little bit of time off. I'm taking time off from my day job, but I figure i'd come back from the beach to talk about video games with y'all. Uh, there's a problem though, these I can't see my monitor actually with these glasses on that it's polarized in such a way that I'm looking at it and it just looks like it's turned off. So so we're gonna, we're gonna take We're gonna take those off. We're gonna we're gonna cut that bit short. How's everybody doing today. Hopefully you're doing good. Hopefully you're you're enjoying any time that you have to yourself. I know not everyone's got time off, but it sure does seem like a lot of people in the video game industry are taking breaks right now. I don't blame anybody, like this is the time to do it. If you've missed out all summer, it's like now's the time. You know what that means. It means there's not a ton of news. But we are like building up to what seems to be a pretty busy fall. There's gonna be some games coming, There's gonna be a lot to talk about. We know that things are moving around. We know that there's probably going to be some sort of state of play from PlayStation here pretty soon, stuff like that. Whether or not that's in August or September, we'll talk about that. So things are like things are bubbling under the surface. But things are also not really happening in full this week other than you know, we had an Indie directed stuff like that. But things aren't really happening full this week because there's a lot of people are taking time off. But like I said, I have a lot to talk to you about. I have a lot of stuff here. Let's get to it. I did like i'd spend like last night like, oh man, I haven't been paying too much attention. I should see what's going on. So I feel like I've got like small little updates about a bunch of stuff that is going on, and we'll get into those, and then of course I will answer all of your questions, as many questions as I can possibly get to before we get out of here. And you could you could in those end by hitting the ask a question button at the top of the page. Right there, it's that question mark button. I'm looking at it. I say, it's right there. You can't see what I'm planning at, but it's right there at the top of the page, that little question mark. Click that send me a question, and I'll get to it here after we get through this early section. So let's let's talk about some video games. We'll start with Blizzard again. It's been the sort of the trend with these shows recently, and the most recent news is at least as far as I'm aware, I've been paying too much attention today. If anything new broke today, I mean probably, But in the last couple of days, Blizzard let go basically the team that was overseeing Diablo four, many of the key people there. This is part of the ongoing housekeeping of you know, house cleaning, of getting rid of people who may have been involved or may have overlooked any situations that led to a toxic environment, a sexist environment, unfair pay, unfair you, unfair environment in general. And well that's good. Well, it's great that they've continued to hold people accountable, and like a lot of people aren't, like there's no one that's like it doesn't seem like there's anyone who is h safe from this, except for of course Bobby Cottick. I'll talk about that in just just one second. But uh, you know, like the person that was the McCree from Overwatch was named after he was basically fired, and he was the lead designer on Diablo four. It's it's just basically they were like, hey, we're gonna basically kick you all out here. We don't care if you've been with the company since the nineties. That's uh, you have to be held accountable, and that's that's something. But as I said last week, I'll continue to emphatically state as a matter of fact that this is still less about ensuring that the environment, ensuring that you're creating a great environment for everybody working in a safe place. Like yeah, of course that is definitely something they are they want to do because they have this lawsuit coming from the state of California. But it's about ensuring the survival of certain executive level positions, and that is primarily Bobby Cottick. This is still about him consolidating power and ensuring that he looks like he's taking charge and that he and then then that he gets out on the other side of this, you know, a lot of sacrificial lambs. Not that these people were. I mean, they obviously were responsible for these situations and responsible for this, uh for for people feeling unsafe at work and feeling like they you know, feeling like they weren't happy with work because of the way they were being treated. So of course they did have to go. But I would just continue to say that this is part of Bobby Cottick's plan to ensure Bobby Cottick is still in charge of Activision out on the other side here, and of course it also helps Sam consolidate power in terms of Blizzard is more a brand under Activision than its own entity. We've known this, this has been half for years. But this is really a part of that same timeline of events where now some of the key creative figures at at Blizzard are gone. Who's going to take that place? I mean it could be people from like Vicarious Visions and stuff like that. People who were Active Vision first, and you know, I don't you know, you could say, oh, maybe that's good. Vicarious Visions was a great developer. Maybe Blizzard will make the next Tony Hawk game. That's what I get excited for. Probably not, But also we just don't know, like it was Vicarious Visions was that of a great place to work. We don't have great insight into that stuff, but at the very least, it does seem like they are trying to bring more power under Bobby cootic and and trying to shift the blame from any you know, to other people so that he doesn't have to take anymore heat. Yes, we'll keep an eye on this, like always. This stuff is actually one of the reasons I feel I felt like I needed a vacation because stuff was burning me out a little bit. Having to continually think about the maneuvering at a giant corporation where a billionaire is trying to you know, skirt responsibility bums me out. Gives me the bums, and I'm not not a fan of those kinds of bumbs. Uh. All right, So I talked about the Horizon Forbidden West delay previously. I you know, clearly that's that. I think that's we all can feel that that is happening, because Sony has not come out to say, what are you talking about there? Uh? You know, PlayStation Germany put up a block post like the biggest games look forward in the second half of this year and did not include Horizon Forbidden West. We can we everyone can feel this at this point. It's not any big surprise. I just wanted to point out that when I talked about it originally, I did kind of say that it was, oh, you know, Horizon Forbidden West sounds like they were leaning towards it. It was more certain than certain than that. Like in terms of how I framed it, I framed it in a very much uh you know, maybe they'll still decide to release this year. No, it was pretty certain from the beginning, but I wanted to talk about it again because of when we will hear about it and how that relates to maybe a state of play. So there are rumors right now of a state of play coming on August nineteenth. I continue to not have heard anything about that, but we do know that call of duty. What we do know, it seems pretty certain that call of duty is going to get revealed on August nineteenth, and it makes sense that call of Duty might show up at a state of play. I guess I think more it makes more sense that call of Duty would have its own event, But I don't know. I'm leaving my heart and mind open to the possibility of a state of play on August nineteenth, like these rumors say, even though all I've ever heard so far in the last couple of weeks is a state of play is coming in September. That's all I've heard. But that doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be something in August. It doesn't mean that that is for sure. These are just kind of these This is what I'm hearing, and there could be multiple things. There could be an event in September. There could be an event in August nineteenth. But as that relates to for Horizon for Horizon Forbidden West and that name, I'm never gonna be able to just pull that name from my brain. I'm always gonna have to like remember, I'm gonna like learn it phonetically or something. Horizon Forbidden West. In terms of the timing of when we hear about the actual delay like confirmed one, I do think it'll happen before a state of play. I guess it's possible if it's in August nineteenth one that's coming up pretty soon. Maybe they announced like the date then then the date is a twenty twenty two date. That seems possible, and like you couch it and all this other stuff. I just think it's more likely that we will hear about it relatively soon, maybe before the end of this month, and then they talk about what's coming up in the fall at a state of play in September going forward again, Like, I just haven't heard about in August nineteenth event, so I'm like going on other rumors and I can't back those up in any way. Uh. We talked a little bit about caled Dewey Vanguard. That's the World War two call of duty made by Sledgehammer. It's Sledgehammers turn. They missed their turn last time. Anyway, it's a it's a return to World War Two. A lot of stuff is leaking about this game right now. A lot of it's coming from Tom Henderson, who I feel feel I shouldn't mention that you can trust. Tom Henderson normally gets this stuff pretty spot on. He's pretty good at this stuff. Eve's and so when he when he started leaking some of these things, I looked into a little bit. Seems like most of it's accurate. That we probably will hear about this game in August nineteenth. It seems like it's got a November fifth release date. And yeah, and everything we're seeing leaked right now seems to be pretty accurate. There was some confusion about the campaign, but I didn't look too too deeply into that. But you know, our long letting, our long national nightmare of wondering when we're gonna hear about Call of Duty, it's finally coming to an end. It seems like maybe next week we'll see. So this time next week we should know about that game. I guess I am personally wondering how a World War two game is going to do, how it's how it's going to fare in this in the world where people seem to prefer modern age combat and like near future combat. But looking at the imagery so far, it looks pretty good. It looks like intense. You know, maybe they'll pull it off, maybe they'll keep it exciting. I guess a lot of it just comes down to how the multiplayer feels, and that's going to be the thing the game you know, thrives on. And of course now they have this thing with war war Zone Call of Duty war Zone where you know, it's a free to play version. As long as people are going back to that, they should be fine. They're not going to be too worried about if if Vanguard doesn't like completely pop They'll always have next year. But right now they also have the mobile game, and Vanguard will continue to make them money. And so they're in a situation now where they can have a little bit of a shaky Call of Duty and not have to freak out too much. I'm sure that it like they're the game's gonna sell and it's really gonna come down to next year. Well, they'll where they will pay if this Call of Duty disappoints. And the reason I bring this up, the reason I say the stuff, the reason I'm speaking in these terms is we have heard that there were issues with this game. There were problems. I think that's why it took him an extra year to get the Sledgehammer version of Call of Duty out, and so you know, there's there's reasons I think maybe this one's going to stumble. You know, we haven't heard about it all year, there was the pandemic. There's a lot of reasons why a Call of Duty might might actually have a misstep this year, you know, not not just you know, and then not to mention the ongoing allegations from the State of California against Activision and all that stuff. So, but they're in a situation now where they can rely more on war Zone and Call of Duty Mobile and sort of be like, hey, Call of Duty is going to be strong no matter what happens with the primary annual release. And that sort of just happened, right. We like woke up into the one day and it's like, okay, wow, there they completely shifted to a service model and with Call of Duty in a way that we always said that they might, but it totally worked and it's totally been a huge success for them, and so they're going to kind of keep rolling with that. I've got a few more topics here. Sony closed it's crunchy roll deal and this is relevant relevant to gaming because it's definitely gonna be something that I think they're going to find a way to put into PlayStation Plus to amplify the PlayStation Plus subscription crunchy Roll, of course, is a service for anime. It's where you go watch your anime soccer teams and be dramatic and stuff. I don't know. I don't know what's on crunchy Roll, but I do know that now they own the Funimation and crunchy Role. Basically, they own all of anime as far as I understand it, and they understand their audience really well. Basically, they know that PlayStation fans are webs and they like everything from Japan, So Japanese games they got them, I guess. Really they're making their games more globally appealing than ever before, so fewer Japanese games than ever, but they still have the anime. They'll probably find a way to put in Police Plus. Whether or not that'll be a premium tier or you know, you get three months or something like that. I don't know what it's going to look like, but I'm almost positive that this is going to end up in some way a part of the PlayStation Plus subscription of one of Sony's most successful and your monthly monthly subscription services is PlayStation Plus. That's where all its focus is on the gaming side of things, where they have PlayStation Plus and they have PlayStation Now, which is much more like game Pass. But Sony's focus is on PlayStation Plus. Because it's working, people continue to view it as a relatively good deal. The games that get added in there for free or launching there for free usually get a lot of buzz and h It's distinct from game Pass, and that continues to be an important point that I've brought up here many times before, where it is, while while Sony could try to compete with Microsoft directly, try to have something that is exactly that game Pass with PlayStation Now, and that's where it could be putting all its efforts, it seems to be having a lot more success by saying no, let's just do PlayStation Plus that and do things differently and have it be specifically not game Pass, and that's what our audience responds to. If it's not like Microsoft, they're going to prefer it. They like it that way, And if we can bring anime in there, all the better. Yes, as Chat says, Xbox has game Pass, PlayStation has Anime, and I think that's a fair assessment. The Quake con schedule got posted today, and I wasn't expecting too much from Quake Con. But there is one session that I think I'll watch and maybe try to find out what's happening here. But I'm gonna watch this one. It's on Thursday, August nineteenth at two oh five pm Eastern time. It is here's the name, celebrating twenty five years of Quake with ID Software and Machine Games. And that's interesting because eyes machine Games there. Machine Games, as far as I'm aware, has not worked on a Quake game yet, and it seems like that is part of Like okay, machine Games is likely working with AID Software on a on a Quake I don't that's rumor anyhow, We'll see, We'll see how that pans out. This continues to be for me, I'm a little bit worried about this because we know Machine Games is working on Indiana Jones. That's gonna be several years out, but they're definitely working on it's like their big project. I definitely still wanted Wolfenstein three. If they're working on Quake, they're probably not also working on a third game if Wolfenstein three, So but yeah, there's a lot of other stuff happening at Quake Con. They said there's gonna be stuff about Skyriom and things like that. So yeah, you know, it's always been a little bit bigger than quake in recent years. But you do wonder if in a couple of years we'll see stuff like Halo at that event. That'd be weird. But right now, yeah, right now, the big thing seems to be this quake session. It's early on on, like one of the first days of quake con. To me, that suggests there's news to be announced, but again that's just circumstantial evidence. Okay, how are we doing? Man? The first half an hour of these shows just fly by, all right, So already seventeen minutes in from Software is working on a new place, thetation exclusive. According to rumors that aren't mine. That's that's I put that here. I wanted to make it clear that it's not me saying that, but I've I've heard this repeated multiple times from different people, like second hand h and I'll just want to say the reason that that makes sense to me and not that I have I am coming out I'm backing up those rumors. It makes sense to me because of what happened with Microsoft and Elden Ring, where Microsoft was trying to get the elder Ring Co marketing deal for years, and they thought they were gonna have a chance to keep to get it, like to lock it down and show the trailer at E three and From Software basically m Bandai, you know, Bandai Namco turned them down. And to me that that suggests that there is other considerations in place, and I think those considerations might be that Sony told them not to. That seems to be kind of what that could be. I know that's what a lot of people speculated, uh, And I sort I tend to agree with that, just because I think there's a deal like this in the works that that you know, and this one apparently would not be Blood Burned Blood Born two, so who knows exactly what it would be. I know people are in chatter Saint Armored Core, uh probably also not Armored Core, but a PlayStation five from Software Exclusive. I mean, they did one on PlayStation four, it was a big success. Them doing another one on PlayStation five just makes sense. But also we I think there's an ongoing relationship ship there that caused problems between From and Microsoft with Elden Ring, and so you know it that deal must be bigger than a co marketing deal for a game that's coming out soon on multiple platforms, and to me, that suggests a console exclusive. So I'm kind of I'm kind of right there with those rumors and saying that that's probably correct. All right, last few things here. Take two as six remasters slash rereleases coming. They announced this as part of their their earnings report, and they had a list of games of like the roadmap of what's coming up soon. Of those six remasters slash rereleases they announced, they confirmed what three of them were, and it's Grand Theft Auto five Expanding Enhanced Edition, which is we've known about coming to Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation five. GTA Online Standalone is another is another one of those six, so it's getting separated out and standing on its own. And then Curbal Space program for Xbox Series X, Slash S and PlayStation five. Then it said there's three unannounced games. I think of those three, at least one, if not two, if not all, three, are probably rock Star related. My gut says at least one of them is probably Red Dead Redemption two, like that's probably still on the roadmap after they get Grand Theft Auto of five Expanded Enhanced out. I guess maybe they'll wait. They could weigh as much as as long as a year for that, So maybe this isn't one of the six. But I think if it's not Red Dead Redemption too, they're probably going to find a way to bring some Grand Theft Auto games, older Grand Theft Auto games to the present and put those on modern consoles, not as like remakes, but maybe with some enhancements, maybe like you know, they're inspired by GTA five expanded and enhanced. They could add some like graphical effects or something like that, some wide screen modes or whatever. There's probably wide screen versions of those games already. But yeah, I think that Grand Theft Auto, you know, San Andreas makes a lot of sense. He'll probably end up seeing that on these consoles. It's it's probably one of those that seems to line up. Probably not probably not table Tennis though, which is a shame us. It's table tennis even on backward compatibility mode on on Xbox. That would be nice. I kind of know, I'm getting the urge to go play that game. I want to play that a lot, but it's probably not that. It's probably not Bullie, probably not man Hunt. It's probably going to be a Grand Theft Auto game first. Uh okay, so yeah, that does it for what I've brought to you today. Like I said, I'm on vacation. This is what this is all I could bring you, just the scraps. Some weeks are going to be like that. But like always, I can answer your questions. And there are some questions that I find to be pretty relevant and that I want to answer because they help will help me clarify a few things. So let's get to them. Let's do this. Let me hit the button here, all right, there we go. Okay from Brian three three three, and again, if you want to send in a question, hit that ask a question button there at the at the top. I'll try to get to it as best I can. Brian three three three asked, do you know if any plans for more Xbox three sixty backwards compat games to be added? I will never be said side until I can replay Eternal Sonata on my series X Well, real quick uncommon faucet says yes, table Tennis is back compat, so wonderful. I know that they are very keen on doing this. I know they're very interested and they want to do this. They want to get Xbox more Xbox three sixty and original Xbox games and backward compatibility. You know, it's just it's it is a time consuming process of ensuring that all the rights are okay and getting everybody to agree with that stuff, and some of these publishers are still eyeing the possibility of rereleasing these games and selling them again. So you know, it's it's a lot to wade through. But I do think that you will still see quite a few more before the end of the generation, definitely, but probably by like this time next year, we will be hearing more about more Xbox three sixty backmback games and also more Xbox get backamback games. But they're definitely still actively working on this. They're also still working on tech to make those games run better than ever, So there is there's still that team dedicated to this stuff. It's just not a massive team, so it's going to take some time. From feature create Power Rangers Mega Drive win or Power Driver Power Rangers Mega Drive Win. This is a reference to me saying that the Mega Drive the Sega Mega Drive sounds like a pat Power Rangers show, and because Mega Drive is a worse name than Sega, Genesis. Now that's been set on GiantBomb dot com, so I feel better. That's just it feels more definitive. All right? From Blackheart Vinyl. Do you think Xboxes Games comp Stream will finally reveal the release dates for these allegedly twenty twenty one games, the Gunk, Crossfire X, Scorn, and Cartwrider Drift. So maybe yes for some of them, the Gunk, probably Scorn, maybe Cartwrid or Drift. I completely just that I don't even know what that is anymore. I'm sorry for that one is not even in my head, so I have to look that one up. Crossfire X. No, Crossfire X seems to be in a situation where we probably won't hear about it again until next year. I think again, this is I think it was on this show where I said Crossfire X as far as I'm aware, it's in development. Hell maybe that's maybe that's not the case anymore, but you know, a few weeks ago that was the case, and so you know, I don't think we're gonna hear about that one anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe maybe we will, maybe that maybe that information is old now, but yeah, the Gunk, I'm really looking forward to the Gunk. I hope we find out more about that. I hope we get a release date. You know, that would be a pretty solid fall, you know, the Gunk, you know Scorn. I have no idea if scoring it's going to be any good. It's not my type of game. I'd have to I'd have to see what other people say about it to see if I'm even interested. But then you get you know, Halo Fortza. That's you know, it's a pretty solid fall from Shoeblazer. Will Xbox ever be interested in virtual reality? There was a time the Xbox one X was going to have VR support. So do you remember when Flight Simulator, when they announced VR support for Flight Simulator, they were like very very like worried that people would take that to mean like and now Xbox is going to get VR support or Microsoft is still interest in VR sport because they're putting in Flight Simulator, that that's going to show that they're going to VR stuff for other things, And and that's not the case. They just did VR for Flight Simulator and they don't have much interest beyond that. VR is just not where they spot potential for growth. It's something that Sony has pretty locked down. It's going to be a long fight for Sony to turn that into a very profitable business. Meanwhile, Microsoft is putting its money behind Game Pass, the same story that we've you know, repeated a million times now. But we know where Microsoft sees it's it's opportunities, and right now that is not VR for mad laughter. This is when I definitely wanted to touch on regarding for Axis is a Marvel game. Did you mean that it's not expected to use major characters from the movies or major characters from Marvel overall, So the game itself is not going to be a continuation of any Marvel Cinematic universe thing period, But I think that the game itself will be steeped in Marvel characters in Marvel Universe and stuff like that. In general, I just if you your team, as far as I understand it, the team that you're playing in that game is going to be customizable, like you are creating your own characters. And to me, that says you that's not those aren't existing heroes. Maybe there are skins, maybe there are characters that you can bring into your team, but that's not how I understand it to be. That doesn't mean I don't. I still think that means that you will likely see many characters in the storyline. I'm sure many of the villains will be named characters. I'm sure that you might get take commissions from some characters that are familiar. They might join your squad or something. Maybe they'll be a on companions something like that. There will be major Marvel characters in the game more than likely. That would just be kind of a weird thing to do otherwise. But my point was more that this is not like, this is not the Blade game. This is not going to be the Doctor Strange game with you know, x com mechanics. It is going to be something slightly different. It's going to be its own thing in the Marvel universe, the wider Marvel universe. But yeah, but you probably won't be controlling many of the characters that you're very familiar with because of the movies right now from Tangwich. Do you think that Star Citizens Slash Squadron forty two will ever get an actual release or will it perpetually be in an alpha state until the end of time? Yeah, I don't know. I haven't looked recently at like how much money they continue to bring in. If they still a bringing in a lot of money. To me, it's like, you know, if if it's not broke, they're probably not going to finish it. Like you know, if the money the bunny printing machine continues to spit out money, then I think they're not going to mess up mess that up too much and try to actually release it. Now. If they start like seeing a trend where the money coming in is drop below a certain line and it's unsustainable, well then you need a bump, right, You need something to create excitement again, and what could do that is releasing the game. So and that might be where the you know, right now, I would imagine it's probably not all like just okay, let's see how long we can keep this money thing going for like for and then you know, we'll finish the game at at some point in the future. But right now, it's all about just making as much money as possible. It's probably not all that. A big part of it is probably like as more money comes in there and they get more of their ambitions can be realized. And that has been going on for years and years and years now. And if the money starts to come down. Well then they'll be like, Okay, well let's just cut it off and get the game out. I guess this is like in a perfect irrational world that I'm imagining here, which we don't live in, so it's more like the thing just crashes and burns. I don't know at this point. I just it's such a weird thing that that project is still ongoing like this. I mean, it's going to be a decade here relatively soon, right, So yeah, it's just a weird thing. From another one for Black cart Vinyl. The first thing on the Quake on schedule has a celebrating a celebration for Quake panel with Aid and Machine Games that we talked about this, But could it be that the special Nick was right about a new Quake for Machine with a female lead. Uh? Yeah, I think that that's that seems right. That seems to be right in line with what all of this is suggesting. So, uh, you know, what does it mean like with a female lead, Like, you know, is it a quake narrative game or is it are they going to do another quake arena something. We'll have to see what it looks like. But all of that seems to line up, so I think we'll find out relatively soon. From Nilock, I know it's stuffer to get info out of Japan, but do you have any info on a new strategy RPG Front Mission game from Square? Uh? In March they renewed the trademark and last month had GDC talk and tech demo that shut off procedural animation using the f MEX. Yeah, it's tough to get stuff out of Japan. I don't have any info on that, but I think that I think Square does want to go back to Front Mission. We'll probably get a new Front Mission. Yeah, I think it's I think it's probably. I mean those those tech tests that they were doing, that to me, that suggests that they are trying to do like prototyping to see what the game would look like. And yeah, and maybe we could get it soon. I don't know, but they're probably working on it. From big denhim, we'll all Call of Duty launched this year. To my knowledge, we still haven't gotten any official reveal slash info. So it's another one we talked about a little bit earlier. Uh. Yeah, Call of Duty is coming this year. They they will not miss it if it's a disaster. Maybe they miss a year in the future, probably not next year because I've bet that game's in better better shape as far as I'm aware. But uh, you know, if they're ever in this situation again and this is this is a disaster, which who knows if it will be probably won't be, actually, but if it is a disaster, maybe in the future they'll decide to skip a year. But this this is not going to be the year that they're going to skip. One from Sneeds, Feeds and Seed, the blossoming boomer shooter Seeing kickstarted by new Blood Interactive, seems to have fostered zero issues between all the small studios making retro first person shooters. Now it's a Saber Interactive acquisition of three D Realms and Slipgate iron Works a threat to this piece. Uh, I don't know, you know, if one of these becomes like the head Game and Charge and nothing else can can breathe, maybe that creates some issues. But I think that a lot of these things that seems unlikely to me, because you know, you play through. What people want from these games is to play through a cool campaign with cool looking retro style graphics and uh, you know, weird creature design and they just want it to be fast paced. And you know, there's there's space for these games to have different gimmicks that make them stand out. What is Ultra Kill has, you know, the blood is your life and so you want to shoot something and then run through its blood to get your life back, and has like the fist the fist mechanic, uh, you know, the punch mechanic where if you punch something right as it hits you, you could counter it and perry it or whatever, and you could do that. It gets boss. It almost feels like a Soul's like sort of play experience. And that's very much another one those boomer shooters, but it plays not it's very much unlike many of the others in the space. And I want that as much as I want anything that like plays just like Quake or something that might be like a Duke Newcomb or something like that. I don't think the piece, as you put it, is threatened too much. But you know, if if a lot of the you know, if one of these comes out and has like a great multiplayer that all these people start playing and that's all they're playing, you know, that might leave less room for some of these other games. But we'll see from Inflection Pixel. With all the Coal of Duty rumors starting to shake loose, has it had an effect on the release plans for Halo Infinite Yet? Probably not. I think at this point Microsoft is aware of Activision's plans for Call of Duty. If if the reason we're starting to get all this stuff shook and loose, as you put it, from the Call of Duty and what's happening with that game, it's because they finalize their plans and they are starting to enact on them. While Microsoft is not like a co marketing partner with Activision, they are at least partners in terms of, you know, a licensor and stuff and putting stuff out on the platform. And if Phil Spencer calls them up and says, hey, when are you putting on a Call of Duty and they have an answer for him, they would likely give it to him and help him out there and say, if you want to position your stuff relative to that, we understand, we can help you out with that. So my guess would be that this stuff has been in place now for a little bit. Phil Spencer has probably already had those conversations, and Halo's future is probably pretty determined at this point, so I guess you know, to answer your question, yes, but what you're suggesting has already happened a few weeks ago, as these conversations already took place. We know that, you know, I didn't mention it. Halo has been rated in Australia and it's both the campaign and the multiplayer, so they are submitting, you know, finalized the videos of what the of what the game is. And I don't think when it got delayed last time, had it been raided by the the STRB before it got delayed. So to me, it feels like we are fast approaching when this game is supposed to be here. It's probably going to be the end of November. I know, for a long time a lot of people were saying September. I never I never bought that. That just seems that they need as much time as possible. And I know Fort's Horizon five is coming out in early November, but to me, that never said that there wouldn't be a Halo in Laten November. That just makes that that's when they're gonna get it out probably, Okay from Tokodo, how disruptive is it when a game loses a director in the middle of development. I don't know exactly. It's probably different in every case. In every situation, A lot of it comes down to, uh, institutional knowledge, how how you know how much freedom each person is given to accomplish their tasks. But it's probably still pretty disruptive if you know the people that you go to to get approval for new ideas, if they are suddenly not there, Uh, that could create some issues. My guests would be that, uh, they are going to get some people in those spots relatively quickly, like you're referring to Diabla four. They have a lot of talent at Blizzard. Still, they did just bring in all the Vicarious Visions. I was serious when I was talking about like bringing some people from Vicarious Visions to oversee that game. That would be that would not I mean, I know Vicarious Visions has a very specific niche in uh, you know, porting games or remastering games. But they're a solid developer that and with with you know a lot of talents, so I bet they'd be able to handle that. But more than likely there will be someone from Blizzard previously that moves up into that space, or maybe they bring in someone external but Blizzard has still has a lot of institutional knowledge and processes that will help them get that game done just fine, more than likely. And while it might miss a beat because of this, I don't think it's going to be detrimental to like the overall plan because the plan is probably put in place a while ago and now it's just a bunch of people executing on a vision, and the vision probably won't change too much even if someone new does come in from Wi Fi pirrate. Do you think there'll be a knock on effect of the Steam Deck being more controller citrinc than more that more? Okay, yeah, let me let me start this over. Do you think there will be a knock on effect of the Steam Deck being more controller centric that more Steam games will be controller friendly now basically either from now on or retroactively. So yeah, I get what you mean. Like, Yeah, the Steam Deck is it has all the controls on there, and so if you're going to play a game on there, the first thing you're going to try to play it with is the controller, and not like the touch pads. I think there will be a knock on effect on I think there's gonna be a pretty large knock on effect for them from the Steam Deck and not just the terms of controller. But to answer your question, yes, a lot of people be like, Okay, we can count on a certain segment of Steam users, the kind of people who are willing to spend a lot of money on dedicated Steam hardware. These are also people who probably own or are buying a lot of Steam games, and therefore are worth worth trying to win over and worth trying to cater to. And so therefore we should take the time to make sure that our controls are wealth set up for the Steam Deck and then all other controllers thereafter. So yes, but I think the not good effect is going to go beyond that, and it's going to be there's good. Everyone is. Probably most developers are probably going to try to optimize their game for the Steam Deck. They're going to get a Steam Deck, and they're like, okay, yeah, you know, we need to make sure this thing works on every computer, and we're probably we're probably developing on thirty eighties or whatever thirty eight tis. But and while we have always done optimization to make sure it can run on like the ten sixty, which is still like the most popular GPU on the on the Steam charts or whatever their Steam survey. While they'll still do that, I think they will have a specific optimization pass for the Steam Deck and that's gonna mean that a lot of games are going to run better on more computers. In general, Steam Deck really powerful for a handheld, not very powerful for computer. And again, if these are customers who are who are spending money for dedicated hardware, they are probably people who buy a lot of Steam games, and it's worth catering to them. And basically, you know, if you look at what happened with the Switch, the same thing could happen the Steam Deck. Might be on a smaller scale at first, but it's still is going to be worth it. I mean, Steam in general is a smaller scale for most developers in terms of like the total sales. Like, while Steam is massive and has millions of players, a lot of people come come to it for free to play games. And if you have a game on Steam and Switch and PlayStation an Xbox, it tends it tends to sell worst worse on Steam. But it's still a significant audience that you want to cater to. And I think if you are already put it on Steam, yeah you're gonna want to make sure that that game runs well on there, and it's gonna make sure it's gonna make a lot of games. Probably. I was actually gonna do a story about this. I'm on a vacation right now. Is you can think about doing a video. But things have lined up really well for the Steam Deck. I'll give like the overview of what the story would be, and there's a lot of points to like how things have lined up. But but one of the things that has lined up in favor of the Steam Deck is where graphics tech is right now, and we are we have really plateaued. I mean, everyone could see this. The return on investment that we're getting from new hardware in terms of their ability to return better graphics, it's you know, it's it's it's it's slim now. Yes, PlayStation five and Xbox Series X look better than the last gen hardware, absolutely, but they're more they're more performed better than look better. The games look pretty similar overall, and like a Pepsi challenge, you would you would put if you put like, if you made the screenshots small enough, you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. If they like really blow them up and look at them on four KSE screens from like five feet away and be like, oh, okay, clearly, this one's running at native four K on this new hardware and it's sixty frames per second in motion. That's where I could see the difference. But but basically the point is it's like, graphics are good enough kind of across the board. The switch is a little bit behind there, obviously, but it's gonna get It's it's not too far behind to the point where it doesn't even make sense in a modern world. It does still make sense, but graphics are not going to end up looking much better in the future than they do right now. You know, the difference between Forts the Horizon five Forts Haison four is stark, but it's not as different as you know. This is just diminishing returns. Everybody understands this. I just my point is we are really at the point of the returns have been diminished, and so if you are in that situation, like the steam Deck can be like can exist for a long time and not have to worry about being left behind. I think where in the past you would have released something like this, it would have been bigger, it would have been heavier, it would have been more expensive, the storage would have been slower. All those would would have been a problem, But the bigger problem would have been in like two years, it would have felt really really dated. In two years, the Steam deck is not going to feel nearly as dated because if Doom is always the one I go back to Doom twenty sixteen, that is the year when we got like the RX four eighty or five eighty from AMD. It's like right around when the ten sixty came out, the ten eighty and all that stuff. Right around then, games looked good enough. They can run, Doom can run on almost anything. And how much better does a game really need to look than Doom twenty sixteen. And so we're gonna gotta continue to be in this in this zone for what quite a while. The one X factor there is ray tracing. That's something that will continue to be pushed, but it's not necessary for most games. And even when games do get ray tracing, they will have to continue getting rasterized graphics as well, because it's gonna run on hardware. That you know, most games are gonna run on multiple machines, and while some of them might have ray tracing, the majority won't and yeah, so you're still gonna have to do both, and so yeah, the steam decks is not gonna get left behind. It's gonna have a knock on effect of ensuring that. Actually, I think most low end hardware gets supported for even longer. Sorry, it's a topic I've been thinking about a lot, because I don't think about the Steam deck a whole bunch from Slaine mac Awesome. If video games suddenly stopped existing, what kind of job would you get instead? I'm not very talented at anything, so you know, I think about, like, you know, if I get if I mess up, I get canceled or something and I have to leave all my jobs. I would probably go back to manual labor, which is what I was doing before this stuff. I worked a lot of factory jobs, a lot of distribution centers. I worked at the Kroger distribution center north of Columbus UH for for quite some time. I did a lot of delivery jobs. I've driven a lot, so I could probably do something like that. I'd probably end up doing an uber or something like that. Uber eats Yeah, not great, but hey, it's the thing is is that I don't mind those jobs so much. It was just now I got a family, so I'd have to work NonStop and never see him and that would be a bummer. But oh well, I mean millions of people have to do that, so I totally I'm not like slamming anyone, but it's like it's it is. It does give me a bit of anxiety. It's like, Okay, I just gotta keep working hard at all this stuff, making sure I keep everything on the straight and narrow and that I am doing good with my work so that I don't have to find anything else because I'm not good at anything else. Okay. Another one from sneeds, Feeds and Seed. There has been a decade long erosion of the Tom Clancy brand identity from authenticy, authenticity driven tactical shooter into just shooter. Do you think there's room today for a triple a single player tactical shooter or is it doomed to only be a multiplayer scene. I mean, I think it's gonna go. It's gonna go in waves, right, It's going to be a sort of right now, Tom Clancy is a sort of brand that can be the thing that we get X Defiant from. And they describe it as a punk rock mosh pit multiplayer game, which are just like so many words that Tom Clancy never ever would have even said. But it doesn't matter because you know, they Ubisoft is bending Tim Clancy to their needs. But I do think there's a chance that in the future their needs and the taste of the audience could bend and wrap back around to tactical shooter. So is there a space right now? Probably not. You know, space is like, what does that mean? There's space for it? But is it too much of an opportunity cost for for Ubisoft to try to try to pursue that uh in favor of or you know, to the exclusion too of something else like X Defiant that is basically you know, ub Soft Call of Duty, which could make them even more money. Right now, I think that they would see it's too much of an opportunity cost, but they could come back around in the future. I think they will uh from Yukosan, Yukio San, any change, any chance for a revival of Marvel Heroes. Probably not. I think that, you know, it's the kind of thing that still makes sense. But I think that the kinds of deals that Marvel is doing right now they're making big deals with big companies and Marvel Heroes. You know, they're also doing mobile games. If Marvel Heroes comes back, I think it would be a mobile game. At this point, they would just do a mobile Diablo and release it that way, because that would also help it make more sense for it's free to play structure. But yeah, as it was, no, I don't. I don't think there's much of a chance for that revival from all the Dinos now that you've taken for access. Is Marvel x com game off the list? Do you know what the Civilization team is up to SIV six? Sure seems like it's currently at end of life. Yeah, that is my understanding that SIV six is winding down and that we should be hearing about a new Civilization game or you know, a spinoff. Well, you know, they did that Civilization that's Space one that was just space like an expand alone. They could do something like that while they're working on Civilization seven, getting that, you know, getting that ready. But we should be hearing about what that team is doing next to soon. I don't know what it is specifically, but my understanding is we should hear about it soon. From Sku any official word on if Hitman will be available on Steam. The Epic Game Store exclusivity will expire in January twenty twenty second or twenty twenty two Jesus thanks. Yeah, I think that in January we should see that. I'm like, I'm in a weird position with it with that game. I have it on Epic. I got a code for it on Epic. That's why I have it there. Yeah, I think I have it on Xbox as well. I might, you know what, because I'm like talking about I'm gonna I want to buy the expansions and stuff like there's like the Seven Deadly Sins thing. I haven't bought it yet. I love hit Man three. It's my game of the year so so far still, but I haven't bought it on Epic Game Store work, which is where I've played it the most, because I'm like, I would rather just get it on Steam when that happens. Not that I'm like one of those oh I hate Epic Game Store people. I just from buying content. I kind of wanted all it would be in a like as fewer places as possible, And I'm not playing a lot of Hitman three right now, So why would I just go and force it when maybe by the time it's on Steam, let's just get it there. And I'm you know, I have a press account, so it's that's really what the reason is. But but on Xbox, I might just play it there because I just got it hooked up down here on the new TV, and maybe that'd be a good reason to know, boot up the Xbox and just play through that game again and then get the content there. The thing is, I wish it had a cross progression. I'm just talking about my my relationship with Hitman three. Now that's what this show is. I'm should have place in Hitman three before my vacation is over. But yeah, it'll be. It'll be on Steam in January. Almost certainly all those games end up doing exactly what you described from Afterlife, Josh. Why did Microsoft buy Compulsion Games was we have a few a big hit. That purchase always seemed like an odd one compared to the other Microsoft purchases. You gotta keep in mind that there is a lot of reasons to buy a studio, and while they have a big hit, is definitely a really good reason to buy a studio. If you know, if Phil and whoever is making these decisions, goes and has a conversation with the developer and they see some promising stuff, or they feel like their studio fits in with their with their culture or whatever, or they bring something that's slightly different, or they have a tech that's really impressive. There's a lot of reasons to buy a studio. I think that you know, or you know, maybe they were just impressed by the art of we happy fewer and like, well, you know, if this one doesn't work, we think that we can unlock even more potential if you come work for us. A lot of it, though, does come down to it's it's bodies. It's bodies to throw at at game Pass. That the content that they need. They need a lot of games. And while not while we have a few, which is something I never even played because I thought the word on it was pretty cool, it's still like the potential for more games coming to game PA. It was a studio that was probably for sale, maybe it was relatively cheap. When it comes down to it, they just need more games and this is a studio that could put out games, and yeah, that's kind of what it is from It's a me where is my official Seinfeld video game. I feel like there is a flash game that was actually pretty good that I played through a bit, but not it's not official, is it. I don't know. You'll have to talk to Larry David. We'll have to see we can get him on the line. I'll put I'll put Larry David here on my list from some guy eight nine zero. Any news on that BioShock game at two k This is when I think people have been asking about recently. I think that we're gonna hear about the Hanger thirteen game first before we hear about BioShock, So it's probably still a bit of a ways off. I mean, that's me guessing because I think Hanger I do know that Hanger thirteen games a little bit closer. Uh, But yeah, and I feel, you know, that's a relatively big game, so would they want to talk about both at the same time. But they're not. You know, there's not a ton of overlap there. The Hanger thirteen game is going to be more like a third person action adventure, open world crime game sort of thing, and and the BioShock game is going to be BioShock. They could totally coexist. But but yeah, but my understanding is that it's still the hanger. The hanger thirteen games first, we're coming up first, we'll hear about that, and then maybe BioShock after all, Right, how are we doing? We gotta we got time for plenty more questions. Let's keep going from leaves. Hey, Jeff, I know you said that HP doesn't believe in showing games before they're ready, But do you have anything on Final Fantasy sixteen? No, but I feel like if there is a big state of play coming up, we will hear about Final Fantasy sixteen. At that that's just a feeling. Though I think we're overdue for an update on Final Fantasy sixteen. I think that there's a chance that we'll hear about it before the end of the year. And you know, I guess a lot of that comes down to how the how development has gone through the pandemic. But my understanding continues to be that game is closer than we all expect, and that to me, that says next year. And if it's by the end of next year, I think, you know, you start talking about it at the end of this year, so hopefully we hear about it soon. But I have no more new details for you. I'm sorry about that. From Arlene's up how fast can Nick Turbo go so reference to one of my mods over my discord and someone who writes into my podcast a lot. He goes very fast. He has to go very fast because when he says Mega Man sucks, Michael Manotti chases after him and tries to wring his neck. Shoe Blazer asks, is Dangerous Driving two? Okay? It's been over a year since I've seen an official update from Three Fields Entertainment. Did that not come out? It was Dangerous Driving different than Dangerous Driving two. I'm sorry, I'm like one of like because I thought they had Dangerous Driving and it was okay, and then Dangerous Driving two came out was pretty good. It came out right. So are you asking like the like, is there a console release that hasn't been happened hasn't happened yet? Oh? No it maybe it hasn't come out yet. Okay, I'm not sure, all right, Dangerous Driving two, I don't know. I feel like that studio was always sort of close to getting things just right and never quite never quite could bring the whole package together. I liked Dangerous Driving a lot, but I think most most other people weren't feeling it, so I you know, I think there was a dangerous collision game, and then dangerous driving was much more like a traditional burnout, and now they're doing dangerous driving too, and that's what I'm getting conflated with. Okay, I haven't heard anything about it. They definitely have always reached out to me when they've had new stuff, and I haven't heard from them in a while either, so I don't know if it's okay. I'll have to look into it. From Arlene's Sup. So, is this Halo Destiny crossover actually happening? Uh, that's a rumor that I've heard as well. Right, Yeah, I can't remember if that's one that I've like got sourced or if I just heard the rumor. I'm I'm gonna bet it's just the rumor that I heard. I think it. To me, that seems like something that they would try to make happen, that everyone involved would be like, yeah, sure, that'd be fun. But I don't know, I don't know for sure. Sorry about that. From Kane High Wind zero nine. Best pizza toppings. The best pizza topping is pepperoni. Like, of course you know, pepperoni and pepperoni mushroom is a really great one. That's what I grew up on Little Caesars, and you know, north of Detroit in the suburbs, little Caesars all the time. People who say Little Caesars is bad are bad people. Like if you if you had the they live glasses and you put them on people talk about bad about Little Caesars, they'd be the weird alien creatures. Absolutely, But you also have to like order. Can't like that, and people always talk about it and they're like, oh, the hot and readies. It's like, no, okay, the hot ready is when you are desperate and you need pizza now, which I understand if you're in that situation. But if you're in that situation, you get what you get and you better not complain. But if you order from a Little Seasons, you get that pepperoni and mushroom on a Detroit style deep dish with a crispy crush around the edge. It's still great, It's still delicious. I'm gonna get a little Ceesars today, f y'all from Meyer, the Remyer, the Red. I'm sorry about that. Two human two can we expect at any minute now, Any minute now, man, I wonder with Dennis diet Ex up two these days. I actually I don't even know if I want to know the answer to that question from Prickly Pete. Any thought on if we'll get another Deus X game anytime soon or is it dead at this point? I don't it's soon, probably not. I feel like they I think they were trying to do some other stuff that wasn't days Daosex, specifically because the last one didn't do quite as well as they were hoping. And so they're trying to take these teams and find other ways to use them and see if they can have more success by like contributing to Marvels Avengers and all this other stuff. And now is is the Datosex team the one that's doing Guardians of the Galaxy? I can't. I can't. I can't keep my square Nex team straight. I do. I do think the Davosex is not dead, though. I think it's something they could return to after the current projects run their course. I think it's less dead than than some other things. But you know, if if Guardians of the Galaxy hits again, I might be mistaking that. But if like one of these games hits it takes off, DAOSEX could go further beyond the backburner that it's on right now. Uh super string. Any rumblings on whether Bobby Kotick is feeling any fire, Yeah, I'm no, he's not feeling any fire. Not really. That's the reality is that there has been like a couple investors who have said the things he's doing aren't aren't adequate. But the ire from investors is nothing like it was for his compensation plan, which actually got a lot got a lot of them, a lot more angry and a lot more of them to speak up and say that he's way overpaid. And even then the board or whatever investors voted to give him that compensation plan, it was a slim margin, but even then he still came out on top. And while investors don't like bad press, they mostly don't care if the if the if the company's making money, and the company's making money, and Bobby Cotta can point to, here are the changes I'm making. I am giving you people, I'm I'm putting I'm giving you people's heads take a responsibility for this by firing other people. And I think that's good enough for a lot of investors. It's it's depressing and disappointing and it's miserable. And again, it's one of the things that's like making me feel pretty burned out on this stuff, is it's miserable to think that that's that's the way the system works, and it's gonna keep doing it that way. And Bobby Cottick fully understands it and is completely taken advantage of it. So I don't think he's feeling a ton of firing. Now, we'll see what happens with the state of California, but even then, I'm not sure, like what kind of punishment they could really bring that would be enough to like, the investors are already going to build that into their price, They're going to fully understand it, and I think it would have to be pretty extreme for him to feel any fire from the specific punishment that might come from California. Uh from Seth Parmer, any truth behind the rumor new PlayStation exclusive from Software Game and Development, hearing lots of discussion around it around that lately. My opinion on that is that there is truth to that. Yes, I can't back that up with specific sourced information right now, but based on the way other things have gone. Like I said earlier, I think that it's real. From X sick or sanics. Have you heard anything on a specific date for the release of the Series X Mini Fridge or on a price. I haven't heard anything about that. No, sorry, I thought that they were coming soon though. I thought they were talking about it. But I'm not like super in the market for a Series X mini fridge, So when they started talking about it, I sort of like faded. I'm like, Okay, this is not for me. I'm not gonna, you know, get all crazy about this and try to track it down. So I guess maybe so, I guess they didn't give a date or a price. I bet we hear about it soon from Alix or eighty three. Hijiff. You do fantastic work. Thank you very much. Let's talk Ubisoft. Any news on Prince of Persia, Skull and Bones, Star Wars or Beyond Good and Evil two. Loll uh. Prince of Persia there, you know the remaster, they're they're they're, they're they're doing. They definitely went back and tried to spruce that up quite a bit. I don't know if we'll hear about that before the end of the year. It feels like the kind of thing that needed a lot more time, and I think they're giving it a lot more time. Skull and Bones is continues to be a boondoggle. It continues to be this, this whole, this big mess that they've I think a lot of people you just feel like they never should have got themselves into. But you know, we will see something from Skull Bones eventually, because they don't want to have to like payback money to the to Singapore, to the City state of Singapore. Star Wars is still a long ways off. Has I think the deal with EA still hasn't expired. I think it expires at the end of this year. I could be wrong about that, but I feel like that. I feel like we're still waiting for that deal to expire and then we will actually start seeing a lot more from these other projects. But they while they can confirm that they're working on it and stuff, and they have like, you know, the the go ahead from EA, I think, just to be clear and make sure they're in the clear, they won't start showing much from these games or talking about them in any detail until that EA deal is fully expired, which maybe it has I'm maybe I'm mixing that up again. Vacation Brain. I'm like eighty percent Corona right now, not that Corona Corona the drink man. That's gonna be a problem. Beyond Good and Evil two. H Yeah, that's just funny. I still don't think that's ever gonna come out at this point. If it comes out, I think Mike Manotti, my coast on games Beat the Side, said this, if it comes out now, it'll just be a direct sequel that it plays exactly Beyond Good and Evil one. It'll just be a Zelda game. They will scrap all of the crazy nonsense they talked about and they'll just make another one of those with Jade. It'll just be that. That's what that If beyond If Beyond Good and Evil two happens, it'll be because they just gave up on all this other stuff and did that instead. Uh. Any idea why Volition didn't announce the new Saints row yesterday as they had planned. I do not know, and I'm not sure how much I can say. Uh, my co worker this legitimately don't know, but co workers could be under embargoes or something like that, so I should be hesitant about saying anything about that, But I do not know why they didn't, and if they told us, I haven't been checking my email, so I wouldn't know anyhow. From the Easter Bunny Project Gotham, that's a question mark Project Gotham. Do you think Microsoft is just happy with the back and forth of Forts and Forts Horizon or do you think we see this ip come back in the next five to ten years. I think they're happy with Forts and Forts the Horizon right now, but Forts and Motorsport got to a point where they definitely need to mix something up, and maybe there's a chance that they do a Fortza project like Colin Project Gotham and and treat that as a chance to mix things up and have Turn ten do that or something like that. But that's just like if Forts, Like if Forts of Motorsport eight comes out, I think it's eight, I'm always bad at the numbers, But for motors Port eight comes out and it's like, Okay, yeah, they redid the tech, but really it's more of the same. And then Forts of Motorsport nine comes out and it's sort of a sales disappointment because of that, or it doesn't get a lot of people very excited. I could see them wanting to mix things up a little bit, but right now they're happy with Horizon is going to do great. Horizon five looks fantastic and it's not even on the new engine yet. Once it gets on the new engine, they're definitely gonna want to do forts Horizon six on that and take even more advantage of the power of the of the new consoles. So it's gonna come down to Motorsport and how that performs. But even then it would it be Projectgntham does is that something they need to come back, needs to come back for them to mix things up. They could just try something even more different than that. Uh Hi from our rules, he says Hi Jeff at E three And and in general we saw announced, we saw lots of Left for Dead style co op PVEE shooters. Why the seemingly universal push for this game so suddenly, So this is my my hunch here is that, uh, Left for Dead was really popular among a lot of developers. It's kind of game that like you could play after work with friends and you get to a point where you're like, Okay, Left for Dead two came out, I can't wait for for Valve to make Left for Dead three, and then you wait years and years and years, and then you realize Valve's not gonna make Left for Dead three, and you're like, oh, well, if they're not gonna make it, and we really like those, maybe we should just make our own and and you know, fill in that void like it takes. There's a lagging there's a lagging sort of thing that happens here where you don't want to make one of those if you feel like you're gonna have to compete with Valve, if Valve isn't going to fill that gap. Though you it takes a long time to realize that first, and then it takes a little bit longer to actually put the game together. And I think we're at a point where just all these companies at the same time realized Valve's not going to do that, we should start that, And now we're seeing the fruits of that, of those of those labors. But all that said, I don't think Red Fall, which is that the name of that of the game from Arcane. I don't think Red Fall is a Left for Dead style game. But but still I get why people lump it in there. I know you didn't say red Fall, but I think a lot of people are thinking that when you say that from muck Bucket sixty two. I love the show, Jeff. My question is do you think the date of Halo Infinite will be revealed at Xbox's Games Coms show five days after Call of New Duties? Most likely reveal at eight nine on August nineteenth. Maybe? I don't know. I feel like yes, I feel like that's the time to do it right. You're if you're putting it on a games comm show, you say it's an update on stuff we already know. This is how they framed it. It's like it's going to be an update on stuff we've already talked about. Halo is absolutely the biggest thing they're gonna have to talk about. To me, if you don't do the show unless you're ready to talk about it. So I'm gonna say yes. I'm gonna say yes, we're gonna hear the date then. And if we don't go well from care APT why was there no SECOO DLC. I feel that's a question for Activision. That's the thing. That's the kind of thing that Activision would have had to scope out and budget for and they probably just didn't, you know, I don't know. I'm trying to think of like Activision games like Call of Duty doesn't really do traditional expansions anymore, are they, And that's like the one at Activision example I could think of. But From has done that before and they've had success, and then you release a Game of the Year version. But I feel like they were already going to be able to release like a Game of the Year update or you know, version of the game. Uh. I think they might have already done that. I think they did and sell that just as fine and then sell it again on new consoles, and so they felt like they didn't felt like they didn't need DLC. But other than that, I'm not sure. I think more than likely, I think the reason there was no Secro DLC is that From just got way too busy with elden Ring. Elder Ring was, you know, a really tough development for them, and so h they probably just even if they had ideas for Secro DLC, they probably just couldn't get to it. From JB. Grebar Grebar, have you heard anything new on place they should partnership with Discord? No, I haven't hear anything new they they gave us a timeline right that we would hear something before the end of this year right on like what that would look like, but by like next year we should actually start seeing that implementation. So it's gonna take some time for what that's gonna look like. But I haven't heard about Hurt any specifics on what that will actually look like from final DOS. So what is the official grub snack? It's a good question. Uh, I'm not I'm not great. It's that I like, I we'll totally just mindlessly eat. I'm adhd have compulsions where I just like I need to just eat something to get my brain like a break from craving whatever. But like if you if like when my wife's like, hey, do you want to snacks from the store? I mostly I'm like, no, nothing sounds good. But I guess like I like chips. I like like tortilla chips with some salsa. It's not a snack. That's like a snack. I like popcorn right now. Growing up, I didn't like popcorn too much, but right now, like I'd like to sit down with popcorn and a beer and a movie. And that's a lot of that comes down to the Alamo Drafthouse that I went to a million times once we moved to Denver, and so that really got me into popcorn and beer, uh like at the same time anyhow, And so I like to sit down in my house now with a popcorn and beer and movie. That's that's a good snack. But I don't know, I like like hot Tamali's, the candy and stuff like that, like cinnamon candies, those are good, uh and then an app Okay, here's the official grub snack. I found it. My brain just needed a second. You get a Snickers. A Snickers bar doesn't have to be a full size where you get a fun size. You just need a Snickers. And then you need an apple, and you gotta get a good apple. You gotta get a the you know, one of the expensive apples, the brand, the branded apples. And then you take the Snickers and you bite it. And then you take an apple and you bite it and it's just it's a candy apple. It tastes exactly like you're in It's tastes like fall, it tastes like October. It tastes like you got a caramel apple with you know, nuts and stuff all over. It's delicious. It's the official snack of grub Snacks. Thank you for that wonderful question. Final DASA. All right, here's here's the thing. I see a million questions above here, and I'm gonna start working from the top down. But a lot of the questions I answered were like from like the early section, and I'm sure there's been a lot more, like more relevant and updated questions. And if you've asked one of those and I skipped over it just now, feel free to send it in again and I'll try to get into it right now. But I'm gonna start from the top now. Okay from g XE Chinna, Hey, Jeff, Valve's pre order system wasn't great, but I do appreciate that I at least know I'm in a queue rather than needing to constantly check for stock. Why aren't more companies using a queue system for hardware? I am so glad you asked this question because I have an answer to it. So the reason that Valve can do a queue system is because Valve is the only company selling you a steam Deck right now. So if you pre order your steam Deck through Valve, chances are you're not going to cancel that order, so you're gonna keep it and the queue is gonna work just as they want and they're not gonna have to deal with a bunch of people canceling their orders and making things confusing and causing problems. However, if you could get a steam Deck preer, Let's say you have seen that pre order for Q three of twenty twenty two, that's when yours is going to come. Well, what if you get it from What if Best Buy open up steam Deck sales and they say, well, we could ship it to you this holiday, you would buy it there as well. So not only not only does this like causing problem where you have to cancel the order at Valve, you also are creating what seems like more demand because you are the same person buying the same thing twice. Now I know you're canceling the other one, but it's still it looks like more demand than what it is. And so this is what happens with all these stores, all these retailers, is if is a lot of people are buying the system multiple times because they want to ensure that they get it and they're afraid that they might get canceled or something like that. So inflates what demand looks like, it causes more headaches. It's it's a it's a big problem. Now, it's still the best way to do things if you are a giant conglomerate who doesn't run their own store and wants to get hardware in people's homes and it's going to it's planning to sell ten million units in the first year. But if you are Valve and you're primarily targeting right now just the Steam user, you could do it and get away with it, and it's it's a lot cleaner, but it's just it's not sustainable if you are trying to build this out to a massive audience, and by this time next year, I would imagine that they will start talking about having it in stores, like I bet you're gonna be able to get a Steam deck in a store in best Buy and Target, in a few other places Walmart maybe by holiday twenty twenty two. But but yeah, and it's just this doesn't work if you were trying to sell ten million units in the first year. That's the big difference. Okay from Axelmanana any news on the development of WWE two K or a EW game. Saw VGC had an article up on two k's WW offering, quoting a semi sketchy Forbes article, but wondered if you heard anything yourself or could put it on the list. Let's put the wrestling games on the list. I'll see what I could do there, because I think that let's see here, where's my there we go? I need my grub snacks follow up list. I need to put this. I'm gonna put that A pin on that so I can get to it easier. All right, A W slash w W E two K. I'm interested to see what the AW game looks like. I wonder if that's like what the timeline on that would be, if they want to like get it out really soon, or if they want to give it some time to make sure it's it makes a good first impression. Uh from Hakka Shoe. Do you know if Michael and sells are Michelle and sells Wild It's still live after he left? I don't, but I don't think so. I think that they would likely not if he's going to like run a zoo or whatever, and and he left because of his toxic management style, which I think this that was Michell and cell I think last time I said someone else, and I still feel bad about that. But yeah, Michell and Cell left because of his toxic alleged toxic environment that he created. You know, would Ubisoft really want to like it was so he was always like a third It was always like a third party deal that Ubisoft had right that they were going to publish this game for Michelle and Cell. Would they really want to like try to oversee it themselves and have to answer questions about Michelle and Cell. I think they'd more like more than like, we just let this game go from tim Oneius. Super Mario RPG two win, Yeah, man, that's gonna happen. So Super Mario RPG is still not even on Super Mario or Super Nintendo Online for the Nintendo Switch online stuff, and that's because Square Nintendo probably can't agree on like pricing and how much Nintendo would have to pay, and maybe they want to rerelease it directly on the Switch as as part of a complimation compilation to make even more money. But you know, it also doesn't seem like it's a big urgent thing. And I know you're probably more than likely just joking, but yeah, they're just gonna keep doing Paper Mario games that's gonna be the Mario RPG series now, not even Mario Luigi because because Alpha Dream got closed down. Uh from m roorig Is there any rhyme or reasons to Nintendo puts on their any s super ns online catalog? I assume licensing is half of it, but it's the other half a classic case of Nintendo being Nintendo. Yeah, a lot of it's just I mean, it's it's licensing and what's easy and uh, you know what do we have available? That does ends a gonna cause like a lot of meetings. You know, Nintendo is still a traditional Japanese company, and so I bet a lot of times they wanted to meet people in person. That's more difficult than ever. So trying to put together these big deals that would like enable Chrono Trigger to come to the Super Into Switch online is probably not an option to them. They'd have to do that over zoom and maybe that they feel us comfortable about that stuff. And also it's just Nintendo being Nintendo. They don't have to do it, so they don't do it. I can't remember, this is someone saying right now, I can't remember. No, Yeah, I can't remember right now. Uh sorry, I was like trying to make a reference, and my brain just completely stopped working for a permanent side. Any thoughts on the latest Abandoned shenanigans, Ah no, I try not to have any thoughts about abandon anymore. I gets pretty incredible all the hype that built up for that trailer reveal app and then it just didn't work and they had to delay it after it already came out. That is wild. That's pretty messed up. I don't know. They are definitely also playing into it now. They're trying to amplify all of the possibility that it's related to Kojima or Metal Gear or whatever, and so it's a lot it's a lot more difficult to feel bad for them now. But whatever, I do want to see what this game actually is, but I'll just wait until I can watch a video on YouTube from Brono Trigger. It's a pretty good name. It's Capcom still working on Resume Evil for remake. Any chance we get it in twenty twenty two. They're still working on it. There's a chance we get it in twenty twenty two. Things things might get pushed out a little bit further than what they first expected. But these remakes. Capcom has generally been pretty good at getting them out in a relatively quick at a relatively quick cadence. But you know, Resuval three remake just came out. They did Resuval Village. They'll probably wanna have a resuable game next year and that'll probably be Resuva before remake if they can get it done. So I think that's there's definitely a chance from lex Predator. Did you see the news about the Killer Instinct website being updated? Does this mean an announcement is imminent? I don't think an announcement is eminent. They do. They've said they want to keep working on Killer Instinct. Killer Instinct is not dead. They just still don't have anyone that can work on it. As I've said before, Iron Galaxy is busy. They seem very busy. I would just be surprised if they had the capacity to work on that. So who else is available? Your guest is as good as mine, and really your guest is probably as good as microsofts there for that as well, because they probably are looking around trying to say who can do this if if we really want to make it happen. And again that continues to be The problem with so many of these questions is that, you know, development resources are pretty much tapped out across the industry right now. Everyone's working on something. You know, many of these companies, like these big companies have multiple announced major projects that aren't finished and and so, and you know, we were talking about like Bethesda and Bethesda Game Studios and how long it would take them to get to fall out. Resources are just tapped out. Game development is at a at a premium right now. Content is more valuable than it's ever been. And so you know, if you were working on a game, the chances are you're going to get a big bunch of you're gonna be able to work on it right now, and and to go and like okay, say hey we're available to work on something for hire. Uh No, you're probably being hired out in five different directions right now already, and you probably don't have a lot of capacity to work on other stuff. So uh yeah, I just I think we're gonna be in a situation where a lot of these things where we're sitting here wondering, like what's happening with this franchise? It's gonna come now to teams are just too busy to get to it right now. From Neoshowden Steam Deck replaceable battery. I have not held a Steam dec. I do not know for sure. I think that. I mean, as soon as I get mine, I will take my my I fix it kit that I have, like right over here, and I'll open it up. I'll take a look at the battery situation, see what else is in there. But yeah, I bet it won't be too difficult to replace. I get, I get what you're concerned. It's rechargeable battery. It's gonna be a thing that uses a lot of energy because it's burning PC games. And even if even if the developers do optimize their games specifically for the Steam Deck, it's still gonna be a situation where two three years from now, after you've charged that thing hundreds of times of what's that? What's that battery? Life going to be? Like, you're gonna want to be able to replace it. I bet though, you will be able to replace it, if not very easily, with probably a couple of screws, Like you could replace the battery on like a WU GamePad tablet pretty easily, And they're available on eBay and they're cheap and everything. So yeah, from Kane High Winds Z nine, pancakes, waffles or French toast. Okay, So if I have to pick among those three, that's not I am a savory guy. In the morning, I'll do eggs and bacon and maybe some toast, but definitely like eggs and bacon is my breakfast when I have time for it. But among the choices of pancakes, waffles, or French toast, I think pancakes. I think them all pretty relatively the same, but I think pancakes that one. I feel like, if you like are not in the mood for something super sweet, like you could can easily control how much syrup you put on that. I guess you could do that with waffles or French toasts. I don't know what I'm talking about it, I don't, but my gut, it's gonna say pancakes from Super String It's final Fantasy seven remake actually coming to PC, as has been speculated since it first came out. I think it will. I just think it might take a little bit longer than a normal timed exclusive, but I think it will. What the Steam or Square and Sony might have a more connected deal, a more intense deal than what is traditional. But even then I think that like for some for a Final Fantasy as a whole, I mean, but even then, I just don't see any world where where PlayStation owns Final Fantasy seven remake in perpetuity as an exclusive, like even games that were treated as PlayStation made exclusives earlier, like like to Trait Become Human that those games I can't remember, like so beyond two Souls, Like a lot of those came into Epic Game Store and are like now we're on Steam and stuff. Final flatsy seven remake will probably be like that, and it might take two years, maybe a little bit longer, but it'll come to Steam or come to PC probably Epic Game Store. To clarify, human Kind is coming out next week on Steam and Epic. What are Sega's expectations for it? Do they expect it to be a Sieve killer? I don't think they expected to be a cive killer. I think they are hit. They're striking at the right time. As we spoke about it feels like Sif six is coming to the end of its life. The thing with these kinds of games, though, is they can have long, slow burns. If the game is meaty and substantial, If the game is open to Steam workshop support, things like that, if it's like if if it gains a modding community relatively soon, it's the kind of thing that could start off pretty I think it's gonna have a pretty good launch. I know, like they're like console players are like, who heard it's oh, game pass is getting this Human Kind game? Like on launch? Who cares about that? Well, a lot of people on PC care about this. I care about this. I'm very much looking forward to Human Kind, and I think it's gonna have a pretty good launch. But regardless of what the launch looks like, this is the kind of game that can a year from now be even bigger than it was when it launched two years it could be even more massive than that. I expected to have like ten to fifteen thousand daily active players on Steam a year from now, and to maintain that for quite some time. If it hits on all and all like the you know, the ways it's supposed to hit. If it feels like a shallow experience, it'll come and go. But if it's anything close to sieve, if it kind of hits you know, within a nine iron of what SIEV is for a lot of people. I think that it's gonna have a lot of potential to grow from there. And you know, Sega's really good at supporting. It's a PC games, and PC is really important to Sega. It has been for years and years and years now. And uh, you know, they don't just put these things out and just fire and forget. They try to support them. And I think that it has the potential to be pretty big. And you know, kill till sieve. None that's gonna kill SIEV, but this one could sort of stand alongside it as the other four X game. I'm gonna answer a few, but an hour from now, my daughter has a not an open house. We did that yesterday, but we have to we have to make sure that my wife can take my daughter to her conference before school starts. So I want to make sure I can help with all that. So I'll answer a couple more and then we'll get out of here so I can go do my fatherly duties. So I'll answer a couple more, starting with psychis here, says do you think Retro Studios other previously rumored games are canceled now that they're officially working on Metroid Prime forius I do. I know they have a big history of projects that never saw the light of day. I think those games are as we would frame it canceled. I think I think we would say that that's been canceled. You gotta be careful because a lot of these things people really care about the semantics of this stuff. Where I think I remember, like Dean said that. Dean said that the fall up to World of Warcraft, which turned into Overwatch, that it was canceled, but it turned into Overwatch, and so it was that really canceled or was it just a project in the early prototype phase that sort of shifted naturally in the way that many games do. Maybe one of these projects that Retro was working on will morph into something else after Metroid Prime. But I think, for all intents and purposes, I think that we should consider those projects canceled. And Metro Prime four is the only actively developed thing happening right now. I guess you could say shelved or on hold, but to me, there's not much difference. It's canceled, and you can uncancel it and start it back up again if you want, but for now, it's canceled. From leaves will we ever see a new Viva Panada? Please? Jeff, my fudge hugs are starving. I am so sorry about your fudge hug man. This goes back to what we were just talking about. Who would make it? Rare is completely tapped out? Rare is It has a team working on CEF Thieves, but it's all trying to figure out what, you know, what was it? God? Man? Now I'm not going be able to think of that rare game, rare game Xbox Well, that's that's showed me the rarest games. That's not helpful. Someone a chat will help me. But that game is coming out in twenty twenty three at the earliest. Probably not. Though they restarted development, it's going to take them quite some time to actually, uh to actually get to a situation where they can work on anything else. And even then it is Rare Ever gonna want to go back to its old franchises. It hasn't wanted to do that recently. I think they're going to continue down that path they want to do ever Ever Wild? Is it ever Wild? Or Ever would Everwood? Is that CW show that I watched a lot of that. I'm embarrassed and that I watched ever Wild. Yeah, so okay, great, Uh that games is taking them all of rares resources. Between that and see if thieves, they do not have the capacity to take on another project. So then do you bring another studio to work on Viva Pinata? I would love that, but it's that high priority we were just talking about they want to bring maybe where they should want to bring in a studio to take over Fallout. I mean that seems like priority number one. But even that seems like a really monumental task, and then you know, Viva Pinata would be down the list. Maybe maybe there's a studio out there they just waltz in and say, hey, look at us. We're whimsical and great at creating art and fun management style mechanics. We are perfect for Viva Paniata. Could you put us on the project? I think short of that situation, it just doesn't seem like something that could just happen. So I apologize for the state of your fudge hoogs. I feel the same way, but I think we should just go back and play Fudge Hugs, Fudge, go back and play Viva Pinata pinatas in Paradise or whatever it is. Trouble in Paradise. Just go replay that again. Sorry, Sorry, I'm just trying to find a a couple more good questions. Okay from lud Jennings, What the frick is the deal with the Blue Box Studios is abandoned even a real game. Listen. To me, it just seems like a small studio that got in way over its head and it's trying to make trying to make lemonade out of conspiracy theories, and it's like, you know, it's still gonna like that's a problem because now you've got a bunch of conspiracy theorists in your lemonade, and no one ever wants that. But also, when you use the word frick like that, it reminds me of a Sammy Sonic fan or whatever, that kid that always yelled about Sonic. If you don't know, I'm talking about just search that's a that's a good YouTube channel. But yeah, to me, it just seems mostly like a situation that got out of hand and there was multiple ideas within the studio how to capitalize on it, or how to ignore it, or how to contain it, and they are trying to do it all of those things at once. They're trying to ignore it, they're trying to capitalize on it, and they're trying to contain it, and sometimes it seems like they, like the Leader of whatever, whatever his name is, it's trying to do all those things at once and it just it isn't working. You know, these guys of things happened with in these studios where they don't necessarily know how to handle the attention, Like I mean, who would does he have to kind of go through it first to learn it? You could pay someone to train you, but you don't know you need to pay someone to train you how to handle this stuff until it's too late for them. It's just too late. It's just got out of hand. Is it a real game? I don't know. Crips at thirteen? Where is for Spoken? For PS five twenty twenty two release, they got to show it? Sixteen is apparently far along. Any thoughts, Thank you very much, sir. I wouldn't be surprised for the sixteen and for Spoken both come out next year, But for Spoken seems like it could very easily be the kind of thing that's like early twenty twenty three. If that's also relatively far along, which I think it is, But the way they're talking about it seems like, yeah, that game's gonna be ready within the next couple of years. So so yeah, but I think fun I face the sixteen comes out first. All right, I'm gonna answer this last question. Then we're gonna get out of here. Everybody, we didn't. We didn't ninety full minutes. I always feel good about that. We've got ninety minutes. You know, it is still vacation week. It is still time to take it easy. But I love coming in here talk about video games with y'all. That's a lot of fun. So let's answer this question from slam Mack awesome pineapple on pizza, yes or no? Yes, yes, of course contrast everybody we're talking about you gotta break contrast to your food. So, okay, you go, you get, you get a burrito. You put a bunch of hot sauce on it. But then you also want, you know, even though I'm a bit lactose intolerant, you will put a little sour cream on there to counterbalance it. This cool creamy against this hot spicy pepper. It's and so on pizza, you get, you get the savory of the ham and it's a little bit sweetness to ham, but I have a savoriness of that meat against the pineapple. It's delicious. I mean it's not like it's anchovies. Yes, I think I have a pineapple and ham frozen pizza upstairs in my freezer right now. Like, yes, I'm one percent I love Hawaiian pizza. But even if I even if they don't have, like even if a place doesn't have Hawaiian pizza on the menu, I'll just get ham and pineapple on my own. Like that's usually like that second pizza, we'll do pepperoni and mushroom. Like I'm like Jets Pizza. I guess I was gonna get Little Seciars Jet. It's another Detroit pizza place that does Detroit style deep dish. But we'll go We'll get Jets and we'll get like one that's like an eight corner, you know, they do the deep dish with like the nice an eight corner one with mushroom and pepperoni. And then we'll do another one and it'll be a Hawaiian with pineapple on it. Absolutely so yeah, delicious. People would just who think, oh, pineapple doesn't belong on pizza. They're are no rules if I do it, what are you gonna Are you gonna call the cops? Like, what do you mean it doesn't belong there? Like it's not like loitering laws apply. What are you talking about? Live a little out? All right, everybody, let's wrap this up. I'm gonna go back outside, back to those mountain beaches. I don't know. I went to the YMC of the Rockies last weekend. That was a lot of fun. I recommend it if you're ever in the area. Ever by sts Parker Rocky Mountain National Park. Great place to take a family. My kids a hundred down, bugs in classes or whatever. It was fantastic. But yeah, I'm gonna get back to my vacation. I'm gonna get out of here. You all take it easy. I am one hundred percent gonna go order a pizza right now. I hope you all will too. I'll try to bring some more scoops next week. Like I said, was you know, kind of a lighter week this week. That's that's gonna happen. We could still have a good time just talking about games, answering questions, talking about a bunch of stuff wearing glasses that they aren't not only make me not able to see my computer monitor, but also have bone conducting speakers in them because I'm a very cool person. I'm very cool, you agree, right? All right, everybody, let's get out of here until next week. Take care of yourself. I have a good one. Goodbye. I'm on Twitter at at Jeff grub I can't see the button actually end the show, all right, everybody? Bye? Yeah,
