Speaker 2: Back number two. Tell you Sports Radio here live in Lebanon at ham Days, Marion County. It is a stormy, stormy day outside, all the hurricane weather coming through, but yet a great crowd here. You're welcome, Rick, Thank you very much.

00:01:19
Speaker 3: Nailed it.

00:01:20
Speaker 2: Rick, There you go. Rick, what happened there? Rick, I don't know. It's a good question.

00:01:24
Speaker 3: I didn't touch anything.

00:01:24
Speaker 2: Okay, well we'll figure it out. You know what, Rick, you never know what's gonna happen. But we uh, great crowd here. And I have to tell you, you know, I was driving up here and I said, I don't know, man, I don't know anybody's gonna be out there today because the weather. And Taul said, you know what, I bet they're there, and they are. So thank you all very much. Give yourselves a round of applause for coming out in this uh, in this weather. Now. During the break, we went over there and kind of looked at it. Uh. You know, I I'm after having watched the spin, I'm worried I'm gonna fall down. And the biggest thing to me, I don't mind losing. I don't want to trip and have that on videos. So that's my biggest concern about whether or not.

00:02:00
Speaker 4: So I don't fall You spend a wind, yeah, you do spend a wind, but you saw I almost spun and fell flat on my face in the first one.

00:02:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you are dealing with verdigo. I don't know if spinning should be the thing that you do a lot of.

00:02:13
Speaker 5: I think you get more carry when you spin. If you do what I did on the second one and you don't spin, it just kind of goes.

00:02:18
Speaker 2: So we'll have the video out later today. Mario will put it out. But right now Ryan's in first, Mario and second, and Shannon in a very disappointing sale.

00:02:28
Speaker 5: I apologize to all of my sponsors today. I just didn't have my a game today. I'll do better next time.

00:02:33
Speaker 2: So Billy Drew and I will do it towards the end of the hour. Now Kentucky Basketball, Drew went is going through this week what used to be called Hell Week. Cameron Mills came out and said because Rick Patino would call it Hell Week, Apparently now they've decided to call it Banner Week because they said Hell Week is at a little harsh but it is Banner Week, and it's basically two a days. Essentially, you get up at six thirty in the morning, you run, you get in shape. Patino was known for this col did a version of it, but I don't think it was as harsh. Some of the players are saying some of the hardest practices they've had in their life. Uh, but Mark Pope says, it's these practices that make you win a banner. Do you like that? I like it. I'm a little more vulgar.

00:03:19
Speaker 4: I'm gonna call it Hell week because that's what it is. People familiar with hell weeks, They've had hell weeks before. I'm sticking with that. I believe you get twenty hours a week to practice, so Pope's basically giving them four a day, five days, you know, two and two two a day's two hour practice and just give them, you know, as much as they can take. Rock Oliver head the stories of back in the day with Patino where he'd bring the trash cans and put them at the baseline and help if you got to throw up. I don't know if it's that extreme, but you know, Pope came up that kind of conditioning. I wouldn't be surprised if it's right there, just like the Patino style.

00:03:48
Speaker 2: Back in those days, Ryan, when you were covering the team, you guys had a lot more access than we have not. We have now, so you probably know what these practices are like even more than we do. What were they like.

00:03:59
Speaker 1: Well, like you guys said, Pope is a disciple of Patino, and they the hell week was running, more running, a lot more running, and then more running. And there's these famous stories of poor Nazi Mohammad just throwing up like every other minute, and these guys having to run a mile and if you didn't make a certain time, you gotta run it again. I mean, it was this awful, awful stories, these legends have happened during Patino's Hell Week.

00:04:24
Speaker 2: Pope said, I don't know if we'll be the best team, but we will be in the best shape this year of any other team. Do you like that?

00:04:31
Speaker 5: I love it. Yeah. I also love the focus that he's putting on banners. You know, everything that he does seems to be team oriented. He's got the focus of winning the title. He knows that that's what fans care about, and that's banners.

00:04:42
Speaker 2: By the way, they put out the final times and schedules for all the games Kentucky, basically this year, once SEC plays, you can kind of set your calendar. They only play on Tuesdays and Saturdays, they have one Wednesday game, but otherwise it's all Tuesdays, all Saturdays and their games. This is what this shows. Even with I mean, look, Cal's a huge draw, Arkansas is gonna be on national TV a lot more than they used to be, But even with a new coach, Kentucky is still Kentucky. Of their eighteen games, sixteen of the SEC games they play are either on ESPN, ABC or ESPN two. The SEC network only gets two of them and those are guaranteed by contract. So literally the amount of games that they can play on ESPN, ESPN is taking all of them.

00:05:29
Speaker 4: Cal always said it the gold standard, and that's not because of any coach or any single player. Kentucky's gonna be Kentucky. Hopefully that stays the case for a long time.

00:05:37
Speaker 2: Hopefully we're good because you remember that was like that that one year during COVID and we were on national TV getting beat every game. Hopefully that's not the case.

00:05:43
Speaker 3: This executive are stupid.

00:05:45
Speaker 1: They know they get the ratings when Kentucky's on, and that's why they want Kentucky on as much as possible on their primetime channels.

00:05:51
Speaker 2: Is Billy over your changing shoes with Yeah, Billy's over here. Billy's taking this too seriously, all right, but he is he does not want to come in last UNLV. There's a there's a addendum to the store. So the guy said he was owed one hundred thousand dollars, didn't get paid. The executive of a casino in Vegas came out and said, I'll tell you what. I'm a UNLV fan. I'll give him the one hundred thousand if he comes back. And apparently the coach said, we don't want him. Oh very Odham said, we don't want your hundred thousand dollars. We'll deal without him, do you That's quite a stance, a principled stance, to say, Ryan, But what if they go and lose now because they don't have him.

00:06:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, I respect the coach taking that stand, but now you got to back it up. You have to go out and win. You better hope that backup quarterback. Maybe he's worth one hundred thousand. You better hope that he can come in and to get the job done. If not, it's now on you the code.

00:06:42
Speaker 2: But the casino came out and said, we will, We'll pay for it. And I'm an NIO booster will pay for it and drew that. Apparently the coaching staff said.

00:06:51
Speaker 4: No, yeah, if you're very old him, you know, it's part of your problem. You owed him there, hold him a lot. I don't you just you just can't keep your locker room together because the casino offered you cash.

00:07:03
Speaker 2: I think at this point he asked to do what he did. That's a bad look.

00:07:06
Speaker 4: Letting a guy just quit on you, then bringing him back because the local casino dropped you back.

00:07:11
Speaker 5: I would like to know, like what the players think, Like that would be.

00:07:15
Speaker 4: Really one player put on social media. Finally we get to play the other quarterback?

00:07:19
Speaker 2: Oh really? Okay, well may think you like it. I think the players might be right. But what's crazy is this is not this team beat Kansas in Houston. I mean, Kansas was ranked at the top twenty five preseason. Like they beat a good team. So it is interesting to me that, you know, I mean, imagine vandergriff just left and like that. That's it's wild. But we'll see if it ends up working out. When he when he turns down the money, Who's up next?

00:07:45
Speaker 3: Jonathan is up next?

00:07:47
Speaker 2: Jonathan? Go ahead? Jonathan?

00:07:50
Speaker 6: Hey, Matt more than the all? When I was a kid. I call into the show a lot. Now I'm mostly a podcast listener, but thank you.

00:07:59
Speaker 5: Expect yeah thanks.

00:08:01
Speaker 4: Uh.

00:08:01
Speaker 6: My wife and I are expecting our first child, and that's brought to mind a UK basketball question that I've been asking.

00:08:07
Speaker 2: Man, hang on a second, before you asked me the question. You're telling me you used to call this show as a kid, and now you're about to have a kid. Yeah yeah, boy, I'm going home, dude. I mean, like, I know, like when these things they hit me. Who's the kid that called the other day that plays football at Mount Saint Joseph. He sent me a picture of him at one of our shows when he was like eight years old. Yep, and I unbelieve, but anyway, go ahead.

00:08:39
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:08:40
Speaker 6: So the question is, if you had children and you had to pick of the UK basketball coaches from rupt till Pope, rank those in order of who you would most trust to watch them.

00:08:55
Speaker 2: Are you saying to trust to watch them or to make them the best player they can be.

00:09:01
Speaker 6: Just to watch them, like they have to make sure this child doesn't do something crazy?

00:09:07
Speaker 2: Okay, well, then if it's if it's make sure my kid doesn't get in trouble then I would say Tubby is number one.

00:09:14
Speaker 3: He's number one.

00:09:16
Speaker 2: If you're saying make sure my kid doesn't get in trouble, I would go Tubby's won, Billy Gillespie is certainly.

00:09:21
Speaker 3: Last, Eddie Sutton next to last.

00:09:23
Speaker 2: And Eddie Sutton's next to last. And even though I love joe By Hall, he'd be right before that, just because they kind of let him do whatever they wanted back then. So I'd probably go Tubby. I you know, I don't know how to place Rup. I'll just leave Rupp out. I'll say Tubby, Pope, col Rick, Joe, b Eddie, Billy.

00:09:49
Speaker 3: That's that's the order.

00:09:50
Speaker 5: Rick didn't know what his kids were doing.

00:09:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, but at Kentucky he was different Ay Kentucky. He was a lot more stringent at Kentucky than he was at Louisville.

00:09:58
Speaker 3: What about you, Yeah, that's it.

00:10:00
Speaker 1: I think I love that ord to Tuby definitely number one, Pope definitely number two, the cow and Patino going three and four. You know, I think both of those guys are good dads. I really do. I agree, And so I don't think it's got anything to do with the basketball. We're talking about just being a dad.

00:10:13
Speaker 2: And Joe B was an awesome dude. But the dudes kind of did what they wanted back then, right. Isn't that fair to say.

00:10:20
Speaker 3: You know, there's little ins and outs at Wildcat Lodge back in those days.

00:10:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's that would be. Now, if you're talking about who would I want my son to play for as a coach and maybe different, then I think that's a completely different list. If my kid is an NBA caliber player, Shannon NBA caliber, then I'm probably taking Cow one, Patino two, Joe B. Wow, Well, Pope hasn't put a guy in the NBA yet. I need to see it, right, See, those four are tough. Billy still last, I mean, Billy's still last. Billy's last. I think it's tough. Now. If I'm just talking about let's say I'm Travis Perry's dad, Okay, then Pope might be number one, true, Pope might be number one. Then maybe Joe b rick Cal might be next to last. If I'm Travis Perry's dad or Drew. Because I don't know if my kid will get to play in that system.

00:11:26
Speaker 4: I was gonna say that if it's my kid, they're standing in the corner and shooting open threes, not athletic at all. I don't think they would work in col system whatsoever. I need him in Pope's and just hope they get some open looks Travis Perry's.

00:11:38
Speaker 2: Travis Perry is the biggest winner, Shannon of the decision for Mark Pope to go here. I think he went from a kid that would have not played a lot and probably cal would have struggled to make himself put in, to a kid that I don't know how much he'll play this year, but he will be playing at Kentucky under Mark Pope. I think nobody got a better situation than Travis d with the change.

00:12:00
Speaker 5: Like Travis Perry under Cow would be like, oh, yeah, that's the guy you want me to play, huh, and would almost almost be defiant about it.

00:12:06
Speaker 2: No, he would be defied. Travis Perry under Cow is Dante Allen. Where everybody's going we want him to play, and then they don't put him in. That's that That's what I.

00:12:16
Speaker 5: Will embrace him, hope.

00:12:17
Speaker 2: Oh for sure. I think Travis is gonna play this year. I'm not sure how much Trent Noah is gonna play this year, but I do think Travis Perry will play some this year. Who's next? Got Nathan up next? Nathan go ahead? And Nathan Hey?

00:12:33
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:12:34
Speaker 7: The podcast listener most I was listening to you guys talk about Mark Stoops and the donors and everything. Would you, if you were Badi, would you guys consider something kind of adding to Mark SUPs contract kind of like cal was first of all the go ahead, sorry, the like not the lifetime dial, but more of like the ambassador if he retires at the end of the year, him staying on the ambassador to help with donor relations with Yeah.

00:13:10
Speaker 2: I think first of all, I had won something I had. I said one thing wrong about Stoops's contract. I said Stoops didn't have a buio that got changed in the in the most he actually now has a three and a half million dollar bio, which is not an absurd amount of money. That's actually if somebody want to hire him, that would be no impediment, but it does exist. I didn't realize that I had that wrong. I think the person that will have the ambassador role if they finish is probably Vince Ryan more than Mark. I kind of this is just my view. I think, you know, Mark's family's not here. I don't know that Mark will stay around when he leaves. I kind of could see Vince living here forever, Honestly, I do too.

00:13:51
Speaker 3: You know, Vince married a local gal.

00:13:53
Speaker 1: You know, they live here in Lexington, and I can see him having a home here for the rest of his life.

00:13:57
Speaker 4: Actually, yeah, that stoop says two boys that might play some level of college football, I want to true.

00:14:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, and they live I think in Colorado or something like that. So I I just I don't see a world. Plus, the other thing you got to be careful is, Shannon, you gotta be careful about any bond you make with somebody that's for life because things can change. Oh yeah, I mean we're saying that as two single people, but I mean you also have to be like a work relationship that can't end I think is an you got to you gotta be sure about that.

00:14:28
Speaker 5: You gotta be very very careful with that because things can change, yeah, and for the worst.

00:14:33
Speaker 8: Uh.

00:14:33
Speaker 2: By the way, as of now, for those of you listening for the Larger than Life, they're saying five o'clock as of now is when they will open the doors in Louisville.

00:14:43
Speaker 5: Okay, So I guess we miss all the early bands. We don't get Blackstone, Cherry, Kentucky's own.

00:14:48
Speaker 2: Come on, yeah, we'll see. Uh hey, stop overpaying for sunglasses. If you want great sunglasses, I got some in my car right now. Shady Rays you can't. If you lose or break them, you don't have to worry about it. They're great, independent American owned company. They got one in Lexington, won in Louisville. Or Shady Rays dot com. They've taken over the sunglasses world. Go try them out risk free at Shady Rays and Shady Rays dot Com. We'll take a break and come back here to ham Days. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:15:16
Speaker 5: Book.

00:15:16
Speaker 2: I'm back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Here live at in Marion County ham Days. They all have concerts all weekend. When the weather gets a little better. On Saturday and Sunday, you should come big festival, one of the ten best in the state. One person rites on the text machine, Matt, when you pitch Shady Rays, you sound like Trump. Those are great sunglasses, maybe the best sunglasses. Everyone loves the sunglasses. That's probably right, Shannon. That is kind of probably what I said. I don't want to hear that. If people tell me that all the time.

00:15:49
Speaker 3: I had a lot of similarities.

00:15:51
Speaker 1: Got the same size, not the same size, campaign together an absolute jerk.

00:15:57
Speaker 2: All right, it is time for us to do our draft kings parlay. We were one play away from winning last week one play, so we're gonna do the money line thing again. So all you gotta do is pick a money line parlay. Just the team to win last week. Drew ruined it for us, So Drew, I'll let you go first. Who you got?

00:16:16
Speaker 4: My pick was an underdog, so you could pick an underdog if you want, Well, I have an eighteen point underdog.

00:16:20
Speaker 2: You gotta pick some money off somebody else. Start. I got to find a new pick. All right, I'm gonna pick for my pick. I'm picking Texas A and M to win at home against Arkansas. They're a five and a half point favorite. I think Arkansas isn't good. Texas A and M got didn't play well in that first game and people have undervalued them. I'll take Texas A and M to win at home against Arkansas.

00:16:40
Speaker 5: Share Washington on the road plus one and a half. I'm gonna take Washington over Rutgers.

00:16:46
Speaker 2: You gotta take Washington win at Rutgers. All right, that's a little bit of a gamble, but I like it. What about you.

00:16:52
Speaker 3: Ten matchup there, Washington and Rutgers.

00:16:54
Speaker 1: I hate to pick Auburn to lose two weekends in or go, but I'm gonna pick them to lose again. I got Oklahoma at Auburn.

00:17:00
Speaker 2: Oklahoma at Auburn. Yeah, okay, So we got Oklahoma, Texas A, and M Washington and Drew Hoo's yours.

00:17:06
Speaker 4: I am now calling an Omaha, and I like Kansas State to beat.

00:17:10
Speaker 2: Your boy Mike Gundy.

00:17:12
Speaker 4: Ollie Gordon is not the running back he's supposed to be this year. He averages like sixty yards.

00:17:17
Speaker 2: I think that's a really good one. Actually, Kansas State, Texas A, and M Oklahoma and Washington all just win. That'll probably be with those spreads seven to one or something like that. So I actually think, Shannon, that's a really good pick. I think I like where we are.

00:17:31
Speaker 5: We got it this week.

00:17:32
Speaker 1: I thought, what do you guys would picked Louisville Notre Dame, Like I had a funnyeeling somebody wasna go.

00:17:35
Speaker 2: I would have picked Louisville, though, and that would have been a huge I think Louisvill's gonna win at Notre Dame. As much as I hate it.

00:17:40
Speaker 4: I liked Illinois Penn State, but not eighteen and a half as a money line.

00:17:44
Speaker 2: Did you see uh, the last game for the Oakland Age yesterday? Did you all see any of it? I thought one of the saddest things I've ever seen. First of all, they brought all the former players back, so you had all these like you know Conseco had, You had all these guys. But the saddest thing was they had the groundskeeper who for thirty one years has has worked on the field every day for thirty one years. They showed him as he came out to finish the field for the final time. He just started bawling, cry and he was sad. I actually thought that was a really sweet thing. This man had worked on this ground for thirty one years and because they're moving, he's not moving and his career is over, and he was crying.

00:18:28
Speaker 5: He poured his heart and soul into the field and making sure that it was in pristine condition. Ricky Henderson, on the other hand, seemed to not care at all. He said, I have too much money to care.

00:18:38
Speaker 2: Is that what he said?

00:18:39
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:18:39
Speaker 5: That was his quote.

00:18:40
Speaker 2: No, he didn't, Billy back me up. Wait a minute, Ricky Henderson said I have too much money to care.

00:18:47
Speaker 3: Ricky's got too much money, Ricky don't care.

00:18:50
Speaker 2: He did not say that. Really. They asked him if he said I have too much money to care. That's one of the worst quotes I've ever heard of all the time.

00:18:59
Speaker 5: Kind of like it like I don't care. I got I'm loaded.

00:19:03
Speaker 2: It's like, why are you here?

00:19:04
Speaker 3: Then?

00:19:05
Speaker 2: Now? Why'd you come? Yeah? Well, anyway, so they're now moving. They're gonna play in a minor league stadium for two years the Oakland A's will but until they get the last five. I didn't expect all the sad fans. They asked, are you sad about the fact this is Oakland's last game? His quote was, I can't be sad. I have too much money.

00:19:25
Speaker 5: I love it.

00:19:26
Speaker 2: Quote of the year. That is an unbelievable quote. That's the first time I saw that, Like that reds jersey. There's a Sanders reds jersey over there. Who's next?

00:19:36
Speaker 3: Mark is up next?

00:19:38
Speaker 2: Mark? Go ahead and Mark?

00:19:41
Speaker 8: Hey, guys, I know y'all are enjoying the haymail toss today. I just wanted to remind everybody you know.

00:19:47
Speaker 2: In October just right around the corner and it's.

00:19:50
Speaker 8: Time for the bail trail. I know y'all have a lot of fun with that last year, and it's up here this year.

00:19:58
Speaker 2: All right, Well, I appreciate the for.

00:20:00
Speaker 8: Billy and they toss.

00:20:02
Speaker 7: You gotta go for the underdog.

00:20:04
Speaker 2: Billy, I'm telling you, has never been more serious than he is right now about this hay Bill toss. He's been over here talking to the two former champions. He's been practicing. I've made the audible call him and let him go last so that he has a chance to do it, and and and and win in front of everybody.

00:20:20
Speaker 5: Can't let a guy in Kakei's beat us.

00:20:25
Speaker 2: I think he was really excited about it as that he beats Shannon, because I do think that.

00:20:28
Speaker 5: We're saying is controversial. That you made me throw back to back and Ryan and Mario both at a rust in between?

00:20:33
Speaker 2: What was right?

00:20:34
Speaker 1: Now?

00:20:35
Speaker 2: What what else you got, sir?

00:20:37
Speaker 7: Here's the question, has Billy talked to any trash at all?

00:20:41
Speaker 1: Because if he hasn't, he's going to watch out for it.

00:20:44
Speaker 6: He's like quiet guys that just knows he's got it, has got it.

00:20:48
Speaker 2: He hasn't talked a lot of trash. I'll give him that. I appreciate the call. He has not been too trash worthy. Let me ask you a question, Ryan about Brock vandergriff tomorrow. What's the amount of yards he's got to throw for us for us to go win.

00:21:03
Speaker 1: I mean, he's got to have a good game because they gotta find a way to keep keep the running game going, so we're passing.

00:21:09
Speaker 3: He's gonna have to be a very effective I'm wanna.

00:21:11
Speaker 9: Say he's got to get at least well, Oh, I think he's gotta get more nass because I think it's gonna have to be I think it's gonna have to be like two twenty drew two thirty something like that, because I think we're gonna have to have some big plays.

00:21:25
Speaker 4: In the two hundreds for Kentucky to win. They're gonna have to do what they did to Georgia and grind it out, run, play defense. But he's gonna have to take some shots and he's gonna have to hit them, you know, Dame Key on a third and four, send them, let's see what happens.

00:21:38
Speaker 2: He's gonna have to hit a few of those.

00:21:39
Speaker 4: It's not gonna be a game where Van de Griff's throwing it thirty times and carves him up, up and down the field. But he's gonna have to hit some shots. But there's no way.

00:21:46
Speaker 2: We're gonna hold old miss to under twenty, right, I mean, I just don't think there's any way we hold him to under twenty. They score too much, which means I think we have to score in the twenties. And the only way we're gonna score in the twenties, Shandon, is if he if he hits a couple deep passes.

00:22:00
Speaker 5: Yeah, And how many attempts do you think that Brock is actually going to have? I mean he is averaging what fifteen or something like that a game.

00:22:07
Speaker 2: Well, I hope we're moving the ball enough that he has a bunch.

00:22:10
Speaker 5: And how do you get into two hundreds when you're only throwing the ball fifteen times? You better have a lot of completions.

00:22:13
Speaker 2: That's the thing.

00:22:14
Speaker 1: They're gonna run the ball so much. I don't know how much they're actually going to throw.

00:22:17
Speaker 2: Well, it's hot. I don't see anyway, Drew. We don't we stop them completely. They score too much. I mean, no one's gonna stop them, you do. We have to score in the twenties in my opinion to have a chance, maybe the thirties, but certainly the twenties, I agree.

00:22:33
Speaker 4: I mean, even in a good game with some good defense, they can get twenty four points Old Miss just because they're as stoops is sit all week.

00:22:40
Speaker 2: They just stress you and put so much pressure. If you get caught with your.

00:22:43
Speaker 4: Tongue hanging out one time, one play, that's when you look up and they've scored six.

00:22:47
Speaker 2: That's the thing about it, the thing that makes these games tough. Against Old Miss. You can play two and a half quarters a great defense, and then in one play they'll go eighty yards and all of a sudden they've scored. I mean, they have that kind of ability in a way that I don't know how many teams in the Tennessee has that. Maybe Georgia has it, but there's not there's not too many. A Fi'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. We will take a break. When we come back, take more of your calls and get ready, and then the final segment, we'll see who wins this Haybale toss. This is here at ham Day's in Lebandon, Kentucky Quarterback Tuckey, Sports Radio, Hair Live and ham Day's in Lebanon. Thanks to all those folks who sponsored the event and who are here. Great, great to be here. It is absolutely pouring outside, an absolute down poor uh but nevertheless, good crowd here, getting ready. We're gonna do our hay toss here in just a minute. We just realized that Washington Rutgers is Friday, so that can't be part of the parlay because we got to have them till Saturday. So you're taking Washington out? Who you picking?

00:23:49
Speaker 5: I've got Alabama over Georgia. Alabama time. Yeah, wow, you're gonna take the Georgia to lose. Yep, they haven't lost in what fortyes?

00:24:00
Speaker 2: I think forty seven regular season game? Wow, but they've lost eight out of nine to Alabama.

00:24:05
Speaker 5: That's right.

00:24:06
Speaker 2: Yes. I want to give a couple of things here scheduling wise. First of all, we will open the bar at eleven o'clock tomorrow, games at noon. I would say get there early to get a seat for Kentucky Old Miss. It'll be a great atmosphere and plus with all this rain, you could probably get there and get it, get yourself a table, so could. But we opened at eleven. Our pregame show tomorrow morning for all of you listening, starts at nine. I will be in Oxford. These guys will be in Lexington, but I will be in Oxford. And then if the postgame, if we win, I'll be out there on the grove hollering at people. And then if you get a chance today, if you're bored, listen to fade this. We had a lot of fun and we learned a couple things about Billy that I'm not gonna say on the radio, but you'll see a different side of him tomorrow. There's a little bit, you know, you think you're open minded. I didn't realize he was exactly He was exactly what he is eighty seven. Let me ask you, Shanon, the mayor of Louisville. He did smash the guitar yesterday. How did that go?

00:25:07
Speaker 3: It went well.

00:25:08
Speaker 5: Everybody was saying he looked dorky and out of plays. I applaud him though, for going up there and doing it because he didn't have to. I thought it was kind of a cool moment.

00:25:15
Speaker 2: Yes, it looked a gimmick to the guitar. It smashed a little easy.

00:25:20
Speaker 5: Together with the super glue. But you know what, it's smashed on the first hit. I'll get credit for that.

00:25:24
Speaker 2: I'm glad we did.

00:25:25
Speaker 4: You were there. Did the crowd get into it? It was hard to tell about the video. Did he get a good roar?

00:25:30
Speaker 5: Not really.

00:25:31
Speaker 2: I don't know if in a heavy metal concert the mayor doing something gets a big cit big gets a big red.

00:25:37
Speaker 5: He did throw up the metal horn though, at his fingers.

00:25:39
Speaker 2: Hey man, nice rock god. All right, who's up next?

00:25:42
Speaker 3: Dennis is up next?

00:25:44
Speaker 2: Dennis? How are you, Dennis?

00:25:46
Speaker 7: Good?

00:25:47
Speaker 2: How are we doing doing good?

00:25:50
Speaker 8: Good? Thanks you real quick? Two football games and in sec Kentucky scored eighteen points. I don't think Old Missus defensive line that's getting enough credit.

00:26:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, they're good.

00:26:04
Speaker 8: I've heard right, I've heard that they may have the perhaps may have the best two defensive tackle combos in the league.

00:26:12
Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I mean it's it's Old miss Or Michigan with that. And and by the way, Kentucky was able to run on Georgia. If Kentucky's able to run on Old best, and I think you can say pretty confidently we can run on anybody. In the country because those are two of the five best defensive lines in the country. So if we're able to run on them, that is a good sign for the rest of the year.

00:26:32
Speaker 8: But go ahead and two questions. I'll get off their uh freshman running back Travannie Masella. He's not been on the injury livet. I never heard everybody him on with death chart. What's going on with him?

00:26:46
Speaker 2: I don't know. Do you know that I haven't heard that's that's a name that I heard before the season, But I haven't heard one thing Ryan, have you No?

00:26:53
Speaker 3: No, you know, I don't.

00:26:53
Speaker 1: When they're going to permit to get Patterson back, he's a guy that can really help him when they're so thin. With Chip train him out. He looked good when he got to a couple.

00:26:59
Speaker 2: Of If it ends up being the case that Trip Chip training them is out for the year, they're gonna have to find somebody else because right now they just have two. When Patterson gets back, they'll have three. But even then you're probably gonna need a fourth or something at some point, Drew, so somebody else is gonna have to play. I would assume this is SEC football.

00:27:18
Speaker 4: You can't have three scholarship players when one was in high school last year and the other one's a red shirt that just got a couple carries a year ago. They've done a great job of picking up the slack for four weeks, but to ask them to do that for the whole year, that's a lot.

00:27:30
Speaker 2: I mean, they were was it last year we had like six running backs and that that could play had been nice if one or two of them had been able to stay, because that would have been very helpful. Who's up next?

00:27:42
Speaker 3: God, Brent?

00:27:43
Speaker 2: Up next? Brent? Go ahead, Brent, and man, how do you go soon? Good?

00:27:51
Speaker 7: Hey, So just about the game tomorrow. I'm interested to watch it, not because I think Kentucky will win, but just to see how they respond. Like we've had like, uh, Doctor Jekyll and mister Hyde kind of start to the season, and if they can do well tomorrow, I think I'll be excited about the rest of the season. If not, then I think we might be in for a little while.

00:28:13
Speaker 2: I totally agree with you. I totally agree with you. I appreciate the call. If Kentucky Ryan is competitive tomorrow, and look, I want to win, But if they're competitive tomorrow, then I go into that Vandy, Florida, Auburn, Louisville stretch of games and feel like, Okay, we can win all those. There's still something to play for. If we go out and get whipped tomorrow, then it starts to look like, well, maybe Georgia was the kind of fluke and I don't know what's going to happen. I think tomorrow, especially because there's a bye week, big blue madness is right after that. I think to keep this fan base engaged in football, tomorrow has to be a competitive game.

00:28:50
Speaker 3: I agree.

00:28:50
Speaker 1: I have confidence in our defense. I think our defense will definitely be competitive enough and keep us in the game.

00:28:55
Speaker 3: I'm looking at our offense.

00:28:56
Speaker 1: If our offense is able to have some success tomorrow, then I do feel optimistic about the rest of those games.

00:29:00
Speaker 2: Do you agree like I think this fan base got re excited by Georgia, but it will go away if we take a whipping tomorrow.

00:29:09
Speaker 4: Definitely, But if you play it well or even pull it off. You know, every team has a dude. Maybe we can just say that's Sally Carolina week. Something was just off. We still have a good product moving forward, but that's only if you give Old miss a great game and potentially even winning.

00:29:21
Speaker 2: Shannon, There's a few things I see in Billy here that make me think he's focused. First of all, he's not wearing his glasses. Okay, right, so he's he doesn't have on his glasses. He has stared straight ahead this entire hour and a half. He has on a local T shirt, hoping probably to get the crowd on his side. He has left the two pass checks. He has not. He has been sitting there taking coaching the entire time. I still think I don't. I think your pathetic throw Shannon means he's not gonna come in last, But I he's he's looking like he wants to win. When he's tired of being ranked last, he wants to get a victory.

00:30:00
Speaker 1: Well, I think yesterday I really heard his feelings about the radio voice. I think that hurt him more than anything. You think he's mad, Go talk to Marissa. Marissa's mad about all these other things, more so than Billy.

00:30:08
Speaker 5: Is this what's gonna happen with the old miss fans? You got those fans so stirred.

00:30:12
Speaker 2: Yes, this is what it's gonna be like for me in Oxford, except they're gonna be yelling and cussing at me the whole time. I mean, look at that. Okay, finally cracked a smile. Well, when we come back, we're gonna have the contest and I'll have Drew go, then me, and then we will finish with Billy. Can Billy throw a hay toss and not come in last in the event. But first, we're in Lebanon. You know what that means. That's corn bred hemp care is where. This is where it all started, right here in Marion County. Jim Higdon and we wrote the book about this area. Cornbread hemp full spectrum flower only hemp CBD helps you rest, helps you relax, helps you get all that you need in order to feel better. They now have the blueberry Uh what is it called blueberry breeze? What's that like?

00:30:57
Speaker 5: Show? It's like a breeze took one last.

00:31:00
Speaker 2: It is like a brief physic. Cornbreadthimp dot com use a co KSRT check out for thirty percent off. It is Cornbreadhimp. When we come back, we'll bring Steve back up here. We'll throw some hay and we'll make our picks for Kentucky Old Miss. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is the final segment here Kentucky Sports Radio Live at hym Day's, so they gonna be going all weekend. A quick shout out to all the folks that are dealing with the hurricane and who dealt with in Florida. I had somebody write me that was right in the eye that said that it has already passed through, but they're cleaning up damage. It's flooding in Atlanta right now. I know they're expecting big boats of rain and Appalachia tonight. So everybody, my prayers to everyone, please say safe over the course of today, tonight, et cetera. Now, there is a person here who is going to be streaming this live. So there is a a website, p LG TV the number thirteen dot com. So p LG TV thirteen dot com. It is streaming right now. So if you want to see this live, p LG TV thirteen dot com. Now we're gonna get started. Drew is gonna be the first one to go. Now, Drew and I have the same issue. We both sometimes have back problems. Uh. The last time I traveled with Tall, he reminded me I bent over to get a sheet of paper going to the Preakness, and I couldn't even move and didn't even get to go to the Breakness.

00:32:31
Speaker 3: And then go straight home.

00:32:32
Speaker 2: So this may not be the best decision. But Drew has the same back issues. He is gonna go, Steve, let's talk about what should he do.

00:32:39
Speaker 3: He needs to spend, definitely needs to spin.

00:32:41
Speaker 2: Definitely needs to spin. Here we go over the line, over the line, how far it was? He threw it far, but you were over the line. So the first throw is out. That was a heck of a throw in.

00:32:53
Speaker 10: First place, So I take I take two big steps back before I start.

00:32:57
Speaker 2: So drew first attempts a failure over the line, but you have shown some promise for the second attempt. Here we go, second attempt.

00:33:06
Speaker 3: My money's on Drew.

00:33:07
Speaker 2: Now look at how he's swinging. Yes, the.

00:33:12
Speaker 3: Line.

00:33:12
Speaker 2: I didn't go on the line. Oh not quite.

00:33:16
Speaker 3: To Ryan Man, his first throw was way out there.

00:33:19
Speaker 2: Dude, you know it was interesting. He didn't like swing very far. Like he didn't he didn't go fast. All right, Now I have a strategy, Yes you do. I'm gonna do the first one in the strategy, and then the second one I'm gonna do like their advice.

00:33:34
Speaker 1: All right, okay, we won't we will we will here we go. We won't tip everybody off what strategy is. But he told you and I what his strategy is here on the first one.

00:33:42
Speaker 3: Not a bad idea. At least try it one time.

00:33:44
Speaker 2: I know his strategy because I was considering it. Yeah, thinking about the.

00:33:47
Speaker 1: Slide was a lunching one, swinging all big swing there.

00:33:56
Speaker 2: Here he goes.

00:33:59
Speaker 5: Some roll.

00:34:01
Speaker 2: See, Ryan's got you a little bit.

00:34:03
Speaker 3: Every year somebody comes.

00:34:04
Speaker 2: It's good. No, that's good. It is.

00:34:07
Speaker 3: It doesn't work.

00:34:08
Speaker 5: It did roll past my marker, though.

00:34:10
Speaker 3: You gotta spin on that.

00:34:12
Speaker 2: But you know he spent on that thing.

00:34:15
Speaker 1: He did get a lot of slide on this basketball court though, So it's not a bast' that's arrow and Jake.

00:34:20
Speaker 10: They throw lower than I do. Yeah, mine tends to stick and I don't get the roll.

00:34:25
Speaker 1: Ok here we go six before called it from double A Middlesborough one didn't have as much short.

00:34:32
Speaker 3: He went low twice.

00:34:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, he tried to slide move. There's just there's too much friction.

00:34:36
Speaker 3: This The slide can get you though. It's spun on you. Yeah, it's spun on you. You gotta spend the one.

00:34:40
Speaker 2: All right, So before we set up Billy here, I didn't spend. I tried for people listening. I tried to slide it because this floor is very slick. Right now, I'm in second, So right now Ryan's in first, I'm in second. Threw his third, Mario fourth, shinning a pathetic fill you.

00:34:57
Speaker 5: You by the way, just rolled it. I mean you didn't have much distance on yours.

00:35:00
Speaker 2: But but what was the goal? Right Steve? The goes how far it rolls? I wasn't trying to throw it.

00:35:06
Speaker 5: Oh, Billy's got his head off backwards.

00:35:08
Speaker 2: Here we go. Let's do this. Since he's such an underdog, let's hear from the crown. Let's get pumped up here.

00:35:14
Speaker 3: Billy, Billy, Billy, Billy.

00:35:18
Speaker 10: Hey, Billy's been taking my advice. I showed him a few videos for technique.

00:35:21
Speaker 2: So right, here we go. If Billy, if you are able to win this, I'm going to give you a chance to come on here, talk trash up uninterrupted. If you're not, then we get to keep make fun of me and you and and ranking you last for everything. You Ready, here we go.

00:35:37
Speaker 1: I'm feeling good about Billy's chances here Billy's got it, dude, Here we go.

00:35:43
Speaker 2: Backwards. You're going, here we go.

00:35:45
Speaker 3: There's a swinging spind Oh good.

00:35:52
Speaker 2: One, hang on, get the get the ticket, the tape.

00:35:59
Speaker 3: He got a great he went.

00:36:00
Speaker 2: Billy wins his second throw. Look at this, Look Billy barely nutches out Ryan limmon to come in first place. Well done, Billy, give me my man around him. Applum Billy. So the final standings Billy first, Ryan second, Matt third, Drew fourth, Mario fifth, and Shannon sixth. Now, Billy, you take a lot of junk on this show. Everybody he's always giving you a hard time, including this guy right over here.

00:36:34
Speaker 5: Oh no, no, no no.

00:36:35
Speaker 2: He came in first and he came in last. What do you have to say?

00:36:40
Speaker 11: Well, despite all the doubters out there, including on the Bond that Bridge Facebook page, I just got to point out Shannon, the dude with the pathetic thrill of the day, he was expected to win.

00:36:52
Speaker 2: Don't doubt Billy, are sports don't doubt him? So do you think now that you were wrong? People were wrong on this one? Does that mean you also have the best radio voice?

00:37:01
Speaker 11: I damn well have the best radio Does that mean you're also the most handsome, most handsome, I'm sure as hell, maybe not the kindest.

00:37:08
Speaker 3: I think Ryan's the kindness. But I'll be number two there too.

00:37:10
Speaker 2: Well. Congratulations to Billy who gets the victory.

00:37:14
Speaker 3: Thank you here, get the trophy.

00:37:16
Speaker 2: The trophy trophy, Billy, Billy is the ks R ham Day's hay ball toss Chin.

00:37:23
Speaker 3: One throw by the way, one throw.

00:37:25
Speaker 2: Congratulations, coach, coach, thank you. Win is the actual contest.

00:37:30
Speaker 3: Sunday at one o'clock. They'll start with the children and.

00:37:33
Speaker 2: Then the children.

00:37:34
Speaker 10: The children will beat Champ yeah maybe maybe uh and then and then we'll throw last.

00:37:39
Speaker 2: All right, thank you, Steve, appreciate Are you in here? Good luck? Let us know who wins. Okay, we'll do all right. There you go. What a win.

00:37:46
Speaker 5: There you go.

00:37:47
Speaker 2: Look at Billy.

00:37:48
Speaker 5: Yeah, plenty of time to rest, that's for sure.

00:37:50
Speaker 2: I wish mine hadn't spun, right. I felt like if I could have kept it going with the spinning is what.

00:37:55
Speaker 3: Billy got a good spin there at the end.

00:37:56
Speaker 2: Did you see that he did? I think you were gonna win. And then his spun the right way, one last turn over the top and got the victory. All right, So let's do a couple of quick picks. You mentioned you picked it as your pick Alabama and Georgia. Uh, you're picking Alabama. Who you got to win? Ryan, Alabama or Georgia.

00:38:13
Speaker 1: I can't believe I'm gonna pick against Alabama at home, but George is gonna win that.

00:38:17
Speaker 2: I'm going to Alabama.

00:38:18
Speaker 4: I picked him on fade this and I'm standing behind Shannon's picking our parlay here.

00:38:22
Speaker 2: I have believe in the tide at home. The only team Kirby Smart has a losing record against in college football, the only team is Alabama. Donald Trump is coming to the game. He has ordered did you see that? He ordered two Fialo fish sandwiches to be delivered to him. And I didn't know anybody ate Filo fish and he's getting two of them during the Gameza and Domino's Pizza, my man for the Di Coch with the Dike. We do both like Doc Cox. Don't worry, we do both like Die Coch. But I think Alabama, with that crowd at night, continues their amazing ability to beat Georgia. I think Alabama takes it. Kentucky Old Miss kickoff at noon. It is in the grove it's going for those of you. If any of you ever been to the grove, anybody ever been there, you've been there, you know how it is absolutely beautiful. The tailgate is amazing. People have you know, table closs up. They have napkins. I've seen a chandelier before, which you wonder, how do they hang a chandelier from the sky, But they find a way to do it. I like the napkins. Impressed you. They got napkins, well cloth napkins. Okay, they have like a I mean wonderful setup. It's an amazing place and tomorrow it will be maybe soggy, but it'll be ready to go. Kentucky comes in as a sixteen point favorite. Right now, Drew, I'll let you go first. Give me who's gonna win and who the MVP is.

00:39:43
Speaker 4: I'm not gonna say who's gonna win and give them the pleasure. But Kentucky will cover that spread. I think it'll be a close game score I'm going to I trust the defense. You know, Ole miss Their average victory is like forty eight points a game, not against Kentucky. I think it comes down to maybe even the fourth quarter. I'll say twenty three sixteen twenty three sixteen. Who's your MVP?

00:40:03
Speaker 2: Uh Zion Children still on fire? Georgia game two weeks ago? All right before Ryan, before you do yours? Dane Key had a massive game last week. Do you feel like that momentum continues this week?

00:40:16
Speaker 1: I think they found a little him and Bush Hampden had a little confidence now in that Dane Brock the Dane connection, So I think they might go to that a lot more often, especially like when Drew said third and four, why not give him to the big guy?

00:40:27
Speaker 3: Let him go after him? So, yeah, can I pick him for my Player of the game.

00:40:29
Speaker 2: If you would like to? You can't?

00:40:31
Speaker 1: You know, sixty years ago yesterday Kentucky played Old Miss when Ole Miss was number one in the country, and Kentucky beat Ole Miss sixty years ago yesterday. So in honor of that team, Kentucky's gonna win tomorrow in Oxford. Oh, they talk about that game two years ago they got cheated Wow twenty eight and Alex Rayner kicks a game winner.

00:40:50
Speaker 2: Thirty one twenty eight. I like it. You're gonna take Dane as your REMVP. I'll let you do it this week. What about you?

00:40:55
Speaker 5: How much confidence you have in our offense. I like kind of what Drew picked. I think Kentucky's gonna grind it out up the game, kind of like they did against Georgia. I'm gonna say, though, Kentucky loses twenty four to seventeen.

00:41:04
Speaker 2: And who's your MVP?

00:41:06
Speaker 5: Gonna be a run heavy Demi Sumulcarmber.

00:41:08
Speaker 2: I like that one, all right. So I first of all, thank you all to everybody here. Don Franklin Auto is your place to get vehicles all around the state's twenty six locations. There's one near you. I think there's one in Somerset, which isn't all that far from here. You go to Don Franklin Auto dot Com every kind of vehicle, best price, is best selection, and the best service at Don Franklin. So I went into this week assuming that Old Miss was gonna win because they're better, they've had a great season. And then I listened to the pathetic trash talk by the Old Miss fans about their rinky det stadium and about how it was gonna be so loud that they couldn't win. It showed me how lame the arguments are for that team. So now I think we go in there, we actually come out. We play them better than anybody's played them defensively in the last year and a half. We get an early lead, and we hang on with the game. Tide brought vand the Griff throws a little bubble screen to Barry and Brown, who runs it in with a minute left, and Kentucky upsets Old Miss twenty seven to twenty tomorrow, at which point then I'll be in the grove and I will be very, very wild. Thanks to all you folks here at ham Day's. Thanks for hosting us in Lebanon. Thank you for coming out in this crazy weather. We will be back at nine am tomorrow for the pregame show. Bar opens at eleven to come watch the game. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio congrestibility.
