00:03:31
Speaker 1: You know how you like invite.

00:03:33
Speaker 4: People places and then they they're never available, Like why I'm gonna invite me anymore?

00:03:37
Speaker 1: That is not smir You always keep me in mind.

00:03:40
Speaker 2: Because I always want your bright light around me. Oh Like, you have such a magnetic positive energy which is why you're the name of this show is so perfect. When I first heard about Kids, I was like, oh my goodness.

00:03:53
Speaker 3: What a great name.

00:03:55
Speaker 1: Thank you just exude.

00:03:56
Speaker 2: This joy and this this god in you, and it's so contagious and it's something that you always want to be around.

00:04:05
Speaker 3: So thank you for never forgetting about me.

00:04:07
Speaker 1: No, of course.

00:04:09
Speaker 2: You know sometimes when people blow up and they do a big thing, and they do a big one.

00:04:12
Speaker 1: It's like, oh right, oh yeah, no, we're not doing that.

00:04:14
Speaker 3: You never give that energy.

00:04:16
Speaker 2: No, at a vacuum, at a grocery story, Like, right, she still loves me.

00:04:23
Speaker 1: I told y'all, I know, Chris, right, I love that.

00:04:28
Speaker 4: No, I appreciate you so much and I'm extremely proud of you and your growth. Like I think when I first met you, you were a dance.

00:04:35
Speaker 1: For the Hawks. Yes, you're a cheerleader. Was it Falcons?

00:04:38
Speaker 3: Yes, it's a while. And then I moved over to the Hawks. Yes, dancing and cheeriod.

00:04:43
Speaker 4: Yes, incredible. And then to see you now like the host of the Hawks. You're doing so many things.

00:04:49
Speaker 3: Thank you.

00:04:49
Speaker 4: Yeah, you're a host, you're an actor, you are a mother, a performer, all the things.

00:04:55
Speaker 2: Listen, I'm just trying to be like you best friend. I love the fact that you know, we are women that aren't placed in a box. Yes, we can do multiple things. Yeah, and you know, multiple things bring in multiple strings come on. So that's always fortunate thing. But it's crazy because like how all of this stuff came about. I started out as being a girl that loved to sing in the sunbeing quired at the Church of God in Christ again, went from there to just my show was boring and they were like, okay, well you got you can't just stand there and say you got to give us a little bit more.

00:05:27
Speaker 3: Wow, can you move it?

00:05:29
Speaker 2: Also, my parents put me in ballet jazz, and then from there I got apart in the movie drum Line Rouse a dancer, and then it just continued.

00:05:41
Speaker 3: I was like I saw that check and I was like, oh, I could do this. Howld on a second, you get paid this kind of money. Just act.

00:05:49
Speaker 2: Let me get into some acting classes, signed up for the Alliance Theaters acting classes. Then I came this close to getting apart over with mister Pierio, auditioned and got the have and have.

00:06:00
Speaker 1: Not that's for all the play. Okay, we're supposed.

00:06:04
Speaker 2: To do that last leg on the tour and then they canceled it and I was like, it's like a camera, like you almost had it. I was fortunate enough to do some background work, like a couple of liners here and there. You know, it's it's a process. It is and he is done doing it and I'm still working and I'm still able to keep my youth.

00:06:28
Speaker 1: Yes, keep it young. Oh my goodness. Yeah.

00:06:31
Speaker 4: Do you did you ever feel like, with all the things that you wanted to do, did you ever have a feeling when you just had to choose.

00:06:36
Speaker 1: One thing at any moment?

00:06:38
Speaker 4: Because I know we now we're like we're not being boxed in, But was there ever a moment where you did feel like you had to choose?

00:06:44
Speaker 2: I felt like, I mean, the industry kind of burnt me out singing because I was signed so young, and you know, I've sang with some of the best of them, you know, from Black Harry Hillson from you know, we had a group called Pretty Tony.

00:06:57
Speaker 3: I had a I was in a group called co Ed.

00:06:59
Speaker 2: And after so long and after so many knows, you do start feeling like you're not good enough, Maybe you're not really a good singer, maybe you're not.

00:07:06
Speaker 3: Cute enough, maybe you start to doubt yourself.

00:07:08
Speaker 2: So I started doing the things that people did appreciate or respect me for, and that.

00:07:12
Speaker 3: Was like hosting or dancing.

00:07:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, and so I was like, well, I really want to do some like in game hosting, saline reporting, and I want to do radio.

00:07:20
Speaker 1: And how did you get into that?

00:07:22
Speaker 2: I was dancing at a Hawks game and I was like, the only way I'm coming back at my big age is if you guys are going to give me a shot to do some sidelines.

00:07:30
Speaker 3: We're in game hosting.

00:07:31
Speaker 1: And who did you tell this to?

00:07:33
Speaker 3: My cheer coach?

00:07:33
Speaker 1: Oh wow? Okay?

00:07:34
Speaker 2: She was like, just studying, you know, be ready when your time came, you'll be able to do it. And behold the girl, mister Flight, the host, mister Flight.

00:07:45
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:07:46
Speaker 2: And I was always always had an extra change of clothes and lot ready.

00:07:50
Speaker 3: I was like, and they did, and I mean I want to kill I.

00:07:55
Speaker 1: Did well enough, Well you did something right, get.

00:07:57
Speaker 3: Called back again. And then I became her back up.

00:08:00
Speaker 2: And then it was like, you know, she moved to LA and what's crazy is her name was Crystal?

00:08:05
Speaker 1: Oh wow? Oh yeah?

00:08:07
Speaker 2: And she moved to LA and started doing some stuff in LA for the sparks and everybody else, and then that job became mine.

00:08:14
Speaker 3: Wow. From there, I was like, okay, now it's.

00:08:15
Speaker 1: Zeros completely, Yes, it is yours and you own it. You were so of course.

00:08:19
Speaker 3: You know Ryan at the time was doing that.

00:08:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, the voice it was the voice of the box and yeah he was auditioning co hosts for the radios that he brought me and let me audition a little bit and hang out with him. Then I started doing overnights at the radisation the ship that nobody.

00:08:35
Speaker 1: Wanted right to start somewhere you're.

00:08:37
Speaker 3: Pretty much talking to yourself. I did that for like almost two years. People don't know that. I think you just get success overnight, but it's like, this is a journey. Did that for like two years.

00:08:47
Speaker 2: Then I joined the Big Tiger Morning Show and that was a fun time. I did that for another two years. And between that, mind you, Now, it wasn't just consecutive like years. It was okay, overnights, no job, Wow, they call you back and then you do yeah, so and then then I got to let go of there.

00:09:08
Speaker 1: Wow. That what was it?

00:09:09
Speaker 3: Like?

00:09:11
Speaker 1: You like, I.

00:09:13
Speaker 3: Mean, I loved my job. I loved being all three.

00:09:15
Speaker 2: I've always enjoyed the people station because I grew up in Atlanta exactly. So it's no hard feelings because you know, sometimes people just want to go in a different direction and you got you gotta respect that and you just have to thank God for the time that you were able to do it.

00:09:28
Speaker 1: That's good.

00:09:28
Speaker 2: So I was like, you know, at any time one door has closed, another one has opened. So even when I was doing the w n b A hosting, I lost my job there and I was trying.

00:09:37
Speaker 3: I was sad, and then the NBA called me and I was like, come on God.

00:09:41
Speaker 2: So you know when I lost my job at being all three housewives called and I was like, come on, gud.

00:09:46
Speaker 4: So was there ever a moment where you were like, all right, guy, what's happening? Or did he always like just open it up, just never let that doubt even settle in because he was always opening another door, like we.

00:09:56
Speaker 2: All always naturally gotta be somewhat doubtful and it. And when I was younger, you used to hear like, don't you question God always? As you get frustrated and you're like, well, what's happening, Yeah, what's my purpose? What do you really want me to do you always, you know, let me pray that you will be done. Well, what's what's in your w am not doing it? Right?

00:10:14
Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean order my steps already right? Patient, you know.

00:10:18
Speaker 2: And then just when you start to just be like all right, I'm over it, he steps in and he just shows.

00:10:24
Speaker 3: You like, all right, trust me? Now you trust me? Yeah?

00:10:27
Speaker 2: So you know I'm doing the show this season. I'm excited about that. It's like my life is just taking I think I'm taking control of it, and I'm manifesting.

00:10:35
Speaker 3: You're speaking those.

00:10:36
Speaker 4: Things, and speaking of manifesting, you you just recently manifested a big I think feet that you want to accomplish, you want to share.

00:10:47
Speaker 1: That with us.

00:10:48
Speaker 2: So I almost feel like that might have backed parted a little bit too far. So I'm a liar, guys, I was just really manifesting.

00:10:58
Speaker 3: So I'm a that. I'm like live from.

00:11:02
Speaker 2: The sixty seventh Annual Grammys. It's the biggest night in music and I'm your host. Shouldn't be and working alongside my call host Trevor No.

00:11:11
Speaker 1: I know that's right, I'm speaking.

00:11:14
Speaker 3: Everybody started calling me like.

00:11:18
Speaker 1: I was. But while I walk in today when you were because I saw your post.

00:11:23
Speaker 4: I said, oh my god, we have to touch on I didn't know she did the Grammys Like it's spreading and people like picking it up, you know, and it's like I thought it was real.

00:11:31
Speaker 1: And then you like that was.

00:11:33
Speaker 2: Manifestation called me from the network and I'm like, oh my goodness, we did not know that.

00:11:38
Speaker 3: Congratulations were.

00:11:41
Speaker 4: I was like, in my facement, But that's where it starts, that's where it stufferts. No, you've seen it, like I've seen a lot of people do commentary on fashion and it starts in their living room and then before you know it, they get so many followers and traction bills where they end up being on the red carpet.

00:11:58
Speaker 2: So it could happen. I'm just like, you're all at home. I wanted I got dreams.

00:12:02
Speaker 1: To Yes, absolutely, I love that.

00:12:05
Speaker 3: Sorry, y'all.

00:12:10
Speaker 2: Right, but so you didn't. No, let me tell you. The plain part was when I read one of the comments. One of my friends was like, you have me in tears. Oh my god, you serve and I was like, don't cry.

00:12:21
Speaker 1: Don't yes, not wait till wait.

00:12:25
Speaker 4: Year, cause it's gonna cry.

00:12:32
Speaker 1: Yes, that's good.

00:12:32
Speaker 4: There's this new show and BT called Pound for Pound. It's in South Africa and it follows women who are boxers, but they talk about the struggle.

00:12:41
Speaker 1: To balance it all.

00:12:42
Speaker 4: You show me are multi hyphen in you do all the things and you also a mother.

00:12:47
Speaker 1: Do you feel like you can have it all?

00:12:49
Speaker 3: I do? And I think that this season that I'm in.

00:12:55
Speaker 2: Has really shown me that you can have it all. And I hate to keep taking it back to God.

00:13:00
Speaker 1: But that's like, no, don't hate take it back.

00:13:03
Speaker 3: And that's kind of how I was raised. Like if you got to put your trust.

00:13:06
Speaker 2: To him, and you gotta know that he hears and he sees, and he knows what she wants, he knows the desires of your heart, and you'll give you just that if you just stay faithful. Yes, I mean, I don't want to start preaching, but Joe was sick for so long.

00:13:17
Speaker 1: You know, hets from his bones and but you.

00:13:19
Speaker 3: Know what, he waited and he waited and God showed up and showed out. And if I had passed to the West, falls from his bones and why can't I?

00:13:25
Speaker 1: Why can't I?

00:13:26
Speaker 2: And so like I always tell people like no matter your age, no matter your raised creed color. It doesn't matter, like if that is for you, no man, nothing can stop it.

00:13:35
Speaker 3: And that's what I'm doing. I'm waiting. I might be blessed, and I can feel it. I know I'm here with you.

00:13:40
Speaker 4: Yes, imagine imagine both of us from where we when we met, where we were to now is night and day.

00:13:47
Speaker 2: Absolutely, even with housewives, like people were like, oh, you know, she'll never get a peach.

00:13:51
Speaker 3: Even I started dowting like whatever, and.

00:13:54
Speaker 2: Not that it was like a goal of mine, but it's kind of frustrating when you're doing something haphazardly, like you like, you.

00:14:02
Speaker 3: Want to showcase your whole life.

00:14:04
Speaker 2: You want to show people that there's more to you than just being a plus one or a friend, but you.

00:14:10
Speaker 3: Can't because you're not full time. You're just a friend of And.

00:14:15
Speaker 2: So it would be situations like someone would say something. You know you could be a little shady, and you don't know it until you actually watch the show.

00:14:23
Speaker 3: Watch the show, then it's not how you feel. And I didn't even get a chance to get your back. I don't want to get my lick back up.

00:14:30
Speaker 2: I want to have a rebuttal or something that you don't get any of that heck, they probably don't even mic you, or you might not even get invited to the next event. So it's always like yeah, to even say so, then your viewers are thinking, oh, well, she just laid down and took it, and really you're like, I didn't even know about it. I didn't get invited back. I didn't you know, you don't get a confessional or green screen. You don't get any of that stuff. So I'm just excited for people to know me, my life and all of the good that in the And I don't want to say, but I feel like social media people show you all the good.

00:15:08
Speaker 1: It's a high car.

00:15:11
Speaker 3: Bad.

00:15:11
Speaker 2: I am the girl, I'm dumb, but it's like the real life does happen. Everything is not great, and some days I don't feel pretty and some days I don't feel amazing. Yeah, some days I feel less than some days I feel inferior. Some days I'm just like why God? And you know, I'm dealing with a sick baby, and it's just a lot of things that weigh on you. And that's why I was saying, like just the faith and just when God fixteds you, he's like, you know, hey, I'm ana thought it's on you.

00:15:39
Speaker 3: But the reward is gonna be so great, absolutely for sure.

00:15:42
Speaker 2: And that's what I think people see this season, like they get to see the good.

00:15:45
Speaker 3: And they get to see the not so good moments.

00:15:47
Speaker 1: I'm excited for that challenge.

00:15:49
Speaker 4: Do you have you felt a sense of pressure now that you're not You're like you got your peach now.

00:15:54
Speaker 1: So this is a different level for you on the show.

00:15:57
Speaker 4: Have you felt any pressure or any the tendencies of sharing your entire world?

00:16:03
Speaker 2: So the only time I get nervous and like anxious is knowing that, Okay, it's premiering March ninth, this is when people are gonna see everything about me. Because when I pull up at a Hawks game, I park in the deck and no one knows what I'm driving or we're not. I'm just being honest, Like when I go home, they don't know what I'm.

00:16:29
Speaker 1: Going home too.

00:16:30
Speaker 2: Yes, So oftentimes I'm treated like the cheerleader.

00:16:35
Speaker 1: That makes this amount and that's they don't know and.

00:16:37
Speaker 2: They don't know, and I just don't want that relationship to change because changing and so I don't want to be treated like excuse me, because the people some of the people that do know it's already started to happen, like, well, I know you don't eat Christmas Cree donuts, but I'm like, absolutely, I'm going to ride through the McDonald's tructor and get surprised it's not beneath me.

00:17:04
Speaker 3: We got cath the D's for dinner list.

00:17:06
Speaker 2: But people automatically box you in this oh wow.

00:17:10
Speaker 4: And it's like that's not even me, Like it's not you are mad like that, you know, I just.

00:17:16
Speaker 2: Love that about what my life is now, Like I can kick it with you in some sweats and we can just be you know, chilling, and I don't.

00:17:23
Speaker 3: I just the Clason glamb.

00:17:25
Speaker 2: Of it all is is one thing. But then there's also right that absolutely on the earth decatered girl it is you have.

00:17:34
Speaker 1: Not now, I'm serious, it has not changed.

00:17:36
Speaker 3: And I don't want the people around me to.

00:17:38
Speaker 4: Change, you know, right yeah yeah, speaking of that, how has it been as you've ascended and your stars continue to rise just like the people around you and navigating those friendships and relationships, I mean, you know what.

00:17:52
Speaker 2: I always felt like. Sometimes people say, you know, when you get a certain level of success, you know, things change or you lose friends or and I mean, I hate to say that's right, and it's not because it's something that you're doing. Because I find myself trying to go extra hard to keep all my people and make them all feel special, make them all feel important and like they're on this journey with me.

00:18:13
Speaker 3: But sometimes people just don't see it for you.

00:18:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes people you know, and I'm not talking about anybody in particular, but sometimes just it could be a cousin. They can feel like, you know, for as long as you were or they felt like they were better, doing better or superior, then it was like raw rah in your corner. But then the moment that they feel like you're doing well, it's like they change. It's not even you. You're like, I'm still here, I still want to go kick it with you.

00:18:42
Speaker 3: I'm issue.

00:18:42
Speaker 1: I love you.

00:18:43
Speaker 3: Friends.

00:18:43
Speaker 2: I couldn't kick it with you today because I had this happening, but tomorrow and it's like, no, I'm good.

00:18:49
Speaker 1: You know.

00:18:50
Speaker 2: That's what's hurtful, you know, just just that part of it, like just changing, and it's almost like I don't want to say changing.

00:18:57
Speaker 3: Some friends are season all though.

00:18:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean to be there. Yeah, No, that's true, that's true. It seems like you're navigating it very well.

00:19:05
Speaker 2: It's hard because you know, we I think we're loyal people and we love hard. Yeah, but like you know, some of my friendships you know, have taken you know, like like I mean, and one of my friends, we we've been friends since god knows, like.

00:19:23
Speaker 3: We met in college. I'm not in college for a long time.

00:19:28
Speaker 2: And and she just would say weird stuff all the time.

00:19:33
Speaker 3: I'd be like, hey, girl, you know I'm filming today.

00:19:36
Speaker 2: I can't you know, And then it was like, you know you always away, yeah, like like yeah, since you're on this show now, yeah.

00:19:44
Speaker 1: You don't have time. You don't have time, but I don't.

00:19:46
Speaker 2: I don't have time, but I'm gonna make time for you. And then when I would try to make time for her, she would just be like.

00:19:51
Speaker 1: No, yeah, yeah, it's me.

00:19:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, Like and I want to do better girl, because if I win, you win.

00:19:58
Speaker 1: Yes, yes, it's for real. Yeah, but I'm like, okay, yeah, no, I get that. Yeah.

00:20:05
Speaker 4: You've been very open about motherhood and about surrogacy and fertility. I spoke about this a few times, openly about my I really just working those years I should've been harvesting my eggs and feel like I waited too long, and then my doctor's just telling me recently that you should just try to have it naturally, because if you do freeze your eggs, who's to say they're all.

00:20:29
Speaker 1: Gonna s stay alive and be viable.

00:20:31
Speaker 4: So I've I'm in that stage where I'm going through the day I wish I had of but you've been through it all, and I want you to share some of your journey, and then I wanna know how Shy.

00:20:42
Speaker 1: Is doing aw S.

00:20:43
Speaker 2: So I'm so happy that that we're having this conversation because I do feel like, not just in our community, but as women, we're often told, you know, get your career, you a husband, here are the steps to doing all this stuff, And especially in the black community, I.

00:20:58
Speaker 3: Didn't know anything about freezing eggs and IVF. It was just like, don't get break, don't let that buck get your break.

00:21:03
Speaker 1: Hello, yeah, wrap the thing up.

00:21:05
Speaker 2: And you were always like okay, yeah, you know you didn't you didn't hear about like yeah, until you don't need to wrap.

00:21:10
Speaker 3: It up because your eggs are gonna dry.

00:21:11
Speaker 2: You know, you're born with a certain number of eggs and you have those eggs and that's all you're gonna get.

00:21:16
Speaker 3: We don't talk about that kind of.

00:21:17
Speaker 1: Stuff, don't ye talk about people are.

00:21:20
Speaker 2: Talk are they're freezing their kids' eggs out of high school?

00:21:23
Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy?

00:21:24
Speaker 2: You know, like they want to make sure they were able to procreate, and we are, we aren't, so we're just told don't do that, don't get yourself knocked up, don't be barefoot and pregnant all stuff. And then now that you have, and it's so crazy because the more I talk about it, the more I found out about so many of my friends and just family that have had trouble with infertility. Yes, And I'm like, let's all talk about it that we can help each other.

00:21:47
Speaker 3: I did seven rounds of IVF seven.

00:21:50
Speaker 1: Okay, what is that like?

00:21:51
Speaker 4: Because I when I was told you I should do it, I feel like it was too late. But then also people kept saying, well, I mean, how's that gonna work with your career when you're gonna have time, as you know, it's going to take you down and it's not your gain weight and it's not good.

00:22:04
Speaker 1: And I'm like, well, when would I have time to do it?

00:22:06
Speaker 2: Let me tell you figure it out because even when I was busy and I was an if I would just give myself a.

00:22:10
Speaker 3: Shot in the car, you'll just figure it out, you know.

00:22:13
Speaker 2: And it takes what a day to you know, do the egg retrieval and then another day to recover.

00:22:19
Speaker 3: Possibly you'll make it happen. You'll figure it out. Don't forgrast me. Just to it, you know. But it's never too late, like I mean, if it's gonna happen for you at the right time, at the right time.

00:22:32
Speaker 2: And the bain comments that I've gotten, you know, because I did do surrogacy with Shilo, it was, oh, you know, you just don't want to mess up your body.

00:22:40
Speaker 3: You should have had a baby naturally, she wouldn't been sick.

00:22:42
Speaker 2: It's some ugly stuff out there. However, I never stopped trying to get pregnant. I had failed transfer out the failed transfer.

00:22:50
Speaker 1: And then what's a failed transfer, So when.

00:22:52
Speaker 2: They transferred the embryo into you, you wait if you get a positive pregnant test.

00:22:56
Speaker 3: Pregnancy test didn't happen.

00:22:58
Speaker 2: And then a year ago January, I had an ectopic pregnancy and it almost died my left I was pregnant at my left fillopian tube russher.

00:23:06
Speaker 3: Yes, I was bleeding out.

00:23:07
Speaker 2: Internally and oh yeah, that's a whole other thinging and you don't really even know about. And I went to one hospital and they were just like get in line, like we have other people ahead of you, and and I was just like, I feel.

00:23:20
Speaker 3: Like I'm dying. And I called my mom.

00:23:21
Speaker 1: I was crying.

00:23:22
Speaker 2: I was like, I'm vombiting in the in the emergency room and no one's helping. And then my mom came and took me from that hospital to another hospital where I was born.

00:23:33
Speaker 3: Actually Emery Crawford Long.

00:23:37
Speaker 2: They rushed me right back, even though my vitals were good because like at the hospital, I wasn't running a fever, my blood pressure wasn't. Hospital like, you're fine, took me back the other hospital. They did blood work on me and they went did a little more in depth and they were like, yeah, no, it was not right. And then they did an ultrasound on me and they saw the they were like, were rushing you into surgery. And when they told me from search, let me go to the bathroom first.

00:24:01
Speaker 3: I went to the bathroom and blood just starting. Oh my goodness. Not to be graphic, but yeah, it was just I mean it was nothing, but god, yeah, they saved my life.

00:24:09
Speaker 2: Yes, which is whild you know, just the spoiler alert. You know you'll see the cuts on me even on the show. You know.

00:24:16
Speaker 3: Just that was a real thing. Yeah, but let me tell you it gave me. It was a high and low for that.

00:24:22
Speaker 2: I can still get pregnant, you know, because I did get pregnant. Yeah, I still have eggs, you know, because at the stage you started thinking can I get Pregdan, do I still have eggs? You know?

00:24:31
Speaker 3: And then but the other side was now only have one fanto. You know.

00:24:37
Speaker 2: I would tell anybody like, do your research, you know, do your homework. Go make sure that it's a really great fertility clinic that you're going to look at their percentages of pregnancies.

00:24:50
Speaker 3: Uh. And then this not make a make.

00:24:52
Speaker 2: A a conscious effort to just be be very detailed.

00:24:57
Speaker 3: In your place.

00:24:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, we were fortunate enough to get Shiloh through shit.

00:25:02
Speaker 3: Uh my surrogate named Shadina.

00:25:03
Speaker 4: Now how did you find us here? Cause that's another thing like when you think about like who would you.

00:25:09
Speaker 2: I was always like, let me let me when sh When I met Shadina, I met her through Candy okay, and Candy used Shadina for her daughter Blaze mm. And during that process I was there to witness her do the injectas and I didn't even know that I needed a.

00:25:26
Speaker 3: Surrogate or anything.

00:25:27
Speaker 2: I I was just like, I'll get pregnant, yeah one day and then it was like cause I had Shaya the natural way.

00:25:32
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:25:33
Speaker 2: So I was like, oh, yeah, you know, we'll get pregnant. It'll be easy.

00:25:37
Speaker 3: Then it wasn't. It was like build fail at the field. So my doctor was like, it's unexplained, Like I don't even know why. Just go and talk to a fertility claning.

00:25:46
Speaker 2: And so that's how we came about Shadein. I was like, hey, she has a agency.

00:25:50
Speaker 1: Okay.

00:25:50
Speaker 2: So I was like, well you was just carry baby. We're comfortable with you. You're in the circle already.

00:25:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, just cause she was like what So she did and she.

00:25:57
Speaker 2: Got diagnosed with breast cancer unfortunately, and she was at thirty two weeks when she got DIA and it was an aggressive.

00:26:04
Speaker 1: Form a lot.

00:26:06
Speaker 3: Oh my goodness. When I tell you, I'm always like is this.

00:26:08
Speaker 1: Like a movie?

00:26:10
Speaker 2: I'm like, is this really happening? It was a breast cancer since it was aggressive.

00:26:16
Speaker 3: They were like, we can't. We gotta like, we gotta go in.

00:26:18
Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Charlie came five weeks earlier, and she came one Valentine's Day.

00:26:24
Speaker 3: It's like, she's my love baby.

00:26:25
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:26:26
Speaker 2: And what was crazy is I was supposed to be at All Stars because All starts always that week. It was in Utah that year, and I was like, well, I'm gonna have to like, I gotta figure this out. She came, she was crying, we were all rejoicing, and then she stopped crying and started turning blue. Yes, And I was like, oh my goodness, and they brushed her to the ICU. Next time I saw my baby, she had been intubated and was on a breathing machine.

00:26:51
Speaker 3: Yeah. I was like, oh my goodness.

00:26:53
Speaker 2: Then it's so crazy how like social media helps you. There is power in that because she was there right out a week on the ventilator and they were like, she needs a surgery her she had both nasal passages blocked with boning and tissue and they could only do the surgery at Children's health Care of Atlanta.

00:27:18
Speaker 3: Children Have Carolinta didn't have any beds.

00:27:20
Speaker 1: Oh my goodness.

00:27:21
Speaker 2: Said, you would think we were in the United States of America, Like is that?

00:27:25
Speaker 1: How is that even? Lets you know how many kids are there?

00:27:28
Speaker 2: You go and the hospital that they just built was so needed, but this was twenty twenty three.

00:27:33
Speaker 3: The hospital just opened in twenty twenty four.

00:27:36
Speaker 2: We didn't have that yet, and so they were they had a bed shortage.

00:27:39
Speaker 3: So I went on Instagram and that's kind.

00:27:41
Speaker 2: Of how I started telling my story, not for pity, you know, for people, I just I just needed help. I didn't know how to help my child, and I knew that if I waited then her lungs would suffer. And I was just like, I don't know what to do. Yeah, and I just said, tell your story. So I went live and I started telling the story and I was like, I don't know how to get her bed. I don't know what to do, but I do know that I need my baby. And it's so funny because the lady that was working for the Falcons when I was sharing for the Falcons, she had a set of twins and she knew one of the head doctors in the nick you at Northside.

00:28:17
Speaker 1: She reached out to come on.

00:28:19
Speaker 2: Now reached out to her. They reached out to Scottish Rite not to hand me a bed.

00:28:26
Speaker 3: The next day.

00:28:26
Speaker 2: Wow, they transported me over with my child and gave us the best care ever.

00:28:35
Speaker 3: Doctor Paula Harmon did the surgery, and like then we found out other things about Shiloh from head to toe.

00:28:41
Speaker 2: When I tell you this girl came with all the bells and the whistles, she.

00:28:45
Speaker 3: Had cranio cinestosis and that.

00:28:49
Speaker 2: And I'm only sharing all this because there was no information about all this. Yes, I and I went on to the hashtag. You know, you'd be like hashtag feed in braids. That's how I was hashtag craniocentystosis. What is that looking at all these pictures.

00:29:03
Speaker 3: Just like Google. Yah, all the scary stuff comes up.

00:29:05
Speaker 1: Absolutely.

00:29:07
Speaker 2: So that's when your skull is fused together, cause most babies are born with the soft spot. Non Shiloh, her school was already fused together. So she would eventually have to have that procedure at six months of age to open her skull up so that she can have.

00:29:18
Speaker 3: Normal brain growth.

00:29:19
Speaker 2: Yes, but the first thing was keeping her alive by opening up her nasal passes. Yes, So they opened it up and that was called a craniocinestosis and I'm sorry. It was co coinal atresia and coinal sinosis of the nose. That's when you have tissue and boning blocking both the nasal bastards. This was craniociniosis. Okay, So they opened up her nose and just like scar tissues, it wants the farm and and heal.

00:29:44
Speaker 1: Yes, it closed right back up.

00:29:46
Speaker 3: Oh my God, to keep going back.

00:29:48
Speaker 2: It was like every four weeks she was going back to the r or another surgery. My girl has had fourteen surgeries and she's yes, and she is still such a happy, such great energy.

00:30:02
Speaker 3: I mean when I tell you, like we do a family photo shoot.

00:30:05
Speaker 2: And she's like, like a star yes, and you know. And so that's why I say, like, God just has a way, like from head to toe that this heart murmur, a fluid build up in her kidney, the tendons and both middle fingers were tight, she had club feet, she had all the all the things, and I was just like and it was like I just had to deal with it one thing at a time.

00:30:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, It's almost like when you make it to do list.

00:30:29
Speaker 1: I had to, like so I didn't want to be you know.

00:30:32
Speaker 2: And sometimes I would just need to just remove myself from it for even an hour or two, because any nicky moms y'all know, like when you're by your bedside by your child, it just it can drain you. And when you don't have energy, your child didn't have energy. I needed her to have to live, yes, you know, and a desire and a.

00:30:50
Speaker 1: Good energy around her.

00:30:51
Speaker 2: So oftentimes I would leave and go to the Hawks game.

00:30:56
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I feel like you bet. I was like, why are you about the game?

00:30:59
Speaker 2: And I'm like I need this, Yeah, And I would go right back because.

00:31:03
Speaker 3: You can't sleep in the nikki.

00:31:04
Speaker 2: They won't let you dozing off there, Like.

00:31:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, you got out of the ICU.

00:31:11
Speaker 2: That I could even spend the night at the hospital, that's a whole thing that you don't even know about. So Shiloh was such a journey, Oh my goodness, I didn't even if if I would to look back, I'll be like, how did I even make it through?

00:31:25
Speaker 3: You know? Even now, like how am.

00:31:26
Speaker 2: I still making it through? Because every day it's like a turn. It's we turned the corner. But she's still here with us, and we're celebrating her second birthday in a week.

00:31:36
Speaker 1: Look at God, that is beautiful.

00:31:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, she's driving, she's taking steps now.

00:31:44
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:31:45
Speaker 2: So I always ask myself, like, you know, before I would be like why me, like why, like why this happened? Because with IVF, they give you the option to test your embryo.

00:31:54
Speaker 3: We did. We did not spare any expense.

00:31:56
Speaker 2: It was like, of course, we want, absolutely want to know, we want to have a healthy baby. But they said it could have been a mutation that developed. You know, when they checked everything was there, you know, there were no chromosomal abnormalities. Genetic screenings were fine, but they said it was a duplication and a depletion.

00:32:15
Speaker 3: And chromosome number seven.

00:32:17
Speaker 1: I was like, what is that?

00:32:20
Speaker 2: And we did the homework of the research and they were like, there's only four other cases of this.

00:32:25
Speaker 1: What Yes, and miracle.

00:32:28
Speaker 2: When you look at it, it's like when they're looking at their like are all the books on the shelf?

00:32:33
Speaker 3: Okay? Are all the pages in the book? Yes?

00:32:35
Speaker 2: So all those boxes were checked. But with her disorder or her genetic disability. When you open that book up, that one page has the words written backwards, so once you decode it, you'll understand it. But like for her, She's gonna meet all her moulestones.

00:32:53
Speaker 3: It'll just be delayed.

00:32:54
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:32:55
Speaker 3: So I'm like, well, you know, delay is not a dinner.

00:32:57
Speaker 1: It is not.

00:32:58
Speaker 3: And yes, she's doing really well.

00:33:00
Speaker 1: That's good. That's amazing.

00:33:02
Speaker 4: Now, big sister Shia, because you have had to spend a lot of time with Shiloh, how has she been handling everything?

00:33:08
Speaker 3: That was very hard?

00:33:09
Speaker 2: And even now thinking about it, like because she doesn't understand, Yeah, how does she know?

00:33:15
Speaker 3: She just turned six?

00:33:17
Speaker 2: Okay, So she would like get jealous, like you're always with Shiloh. And then other times she would come and you know, like a taller she would come and say, I wanna get a new baby. I wanna get one that doesn't have all those cords and you know, and yeah, it was heartbreak up because it was like I understand, yeah, you know.

00:33:37
Speaker 5: Mm, it's okay, it's okay, And you don't wanna tell your child, Yeah it's okay.

00:33:53
Speaker 1: Cause you are fit saing, you know.

00:33:56
Speaker 3: And it was a lot on my family.

00:33:58
Speaker 2: You know, now we are divide, how I was my husband's with Shia with Shiloh, and then we would swap and then you know, she was like when are you gonna come home, and and like why can't I play with Shiloh like this?

00:34:11
Speaker 3: Why can't she? When is she gonna call? And is she gonna and these are.

00:34:14
Speaker 4: All very normal questions, you know, four year old and at the time they were allowing kids under the age of four in the hospital.

00:34:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, so she could even so she couldn't even come and see and we would have to send pictures, we have to FaceTime. So it definitely made our family stronger. And I do thank God that I had a very strong support.

00:34:36
Speaker 3: That's the thing. You really do know who you're You're a lot of people that reached out to me weren't even like my closest friends.

00:34:42
Speaker 2: It was strangers like I'm praying for you and reading those Commentsney you had warriors, and I.

00:34:49
Speaker 3: Was like, wow, this is just it just felt so good.

00:34:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I just felt the love.

00:34:55
Speaker 3: And I don't even know, even to this day, I'm like, I'm not gonna thank all.

00:34:58
Speaker 1: Those people, yeah, because it's just such.

00:35:01
Speaker 3: It really helped me through a lot of stuff.

00:35:05
Speaker 1: It's okay, you're so.

00:35:09
Speaker 4: Strong, Shamia, and the way you carry it with such grace, like I would see you document and show everybody what you were going through. And I I'm looking like I D I don't know how she's holding together, still showing up with a smile on your face, you know, And I just I commend you for that.

00:35:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and that's the thing, and like you know, it's crazy, cause like when you think about it, you're like sometimes if you just fake laugh and you fake pretend, and eventually it'll take on its own thing, and yeah.

00:35:41
Speaker 3: You'll feel happy, you'll feel great. And that's what I I would have to do, Like I would.

00:35:45
Speaker 2: Have to like turn get in my car and just turn on my gospel music, just cry it out and it just bounce back, figure it out.

00:35:51
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:35:51
Speaker 3: But like just I think when you're in it, you don't even y.

00:35:56
Speaker 2: You don't have time to even read, You don't have time to Yeah, you just go.

00:36:00
Speaker 1: Go, go go, right, Yeah, And I.

00:36:03
Speaker 2: Mean, I mean, I'm happy to be in a better space now and she's a lot healthier.

00:36:08
Speaker 3: Yeah. But yeah, like it's it's just been a journey.

00:36:12
Speaker 2: And that's why now I don't even question people. When I before I would be like, what do you want a boy or girl?

00:36:17
Speaker 3: And it would be like a healthy baby and i'd be like, all.

00:36:21
Speaker 2: Right, okay, now I'm like, yeah, health because it was so easy, you.

00:36:28
Speaker 1: Know, yeah, yeah, maybe it's gonna get me in the end.

00:36:34
Speaker 3: It'll be easy tear me up later.

00:36:40
Speaker 1: Really not.

00:36:41
Speaker 4: But on a lighter note, you know, no, it's beautiful, and I wanted you to tell your story because it's so many women that are going through the same things that don't have the outlet that we have, and they see you and they just think, oh my god, she's got this amazing, glamorous life and doing all the things, but not realizing what your really going through this.

00:37:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's why I mean, I appreciate you allowing me to share on your platform because everything isn't great. And that's what I was saying, like even on the show this season, I want people to see.

00:37:11
Speaker 3: Real life stuff. You can have all the money in the world, but life can happen.

00:37:16
Speaker 1: To you, yes, and you're.

00:37:18
Speaker 3: Forced to just figure it out.

00:37:19
Speaker 1: We're not exempt.

00:37:20
Speaker 4: People think that, like we're example from sickness, from depression, from everything. Just because you have money, that does not change it, absolutely.

00:37:27
Speaker 2: Not, absolutely so to me, that's what's important, like just sharing your story and hoping that I can change lives in the process of it, because I was confused, you know, not knowing, you know, the moms out there that have children with special needs, not knowing what that future is going to be, Like, that's a scary thing.

00:37:43
Speaker 3: Yes, and I understand that.

00:37:45
Speaker 2: Like I was on radio where people would call in for big tears, big blessing and would be like, I've been out of work for this amount of time. My daughter is autistic or you know, has autism or it's on spectrum, and I would be like, well, you know, maybe they can just go here. And I would just be like, yeah, somewhat judgmental, like why wouldn't they just do this? Or maybe we can help them, but can't they just go Yeah? And it's like now that I'm in it, oh my goodness.

00:38:11
Speaker 3: The business, the fields, like it is a.

00:38:13
Speaker 1: Lot, and the patients it takes with the child, the.

00:38:16
Speaker 2: Patience, like outside of the specialists that she has to have each of these things, yes, she has to have physical therapy, OT speech. Those are all additional doctors and nurses that have to come either come into your home if you're if you have the means to do that, and take them to those appointments and imagine don't have it. Yeah, in the beginning, I was going to three doctor's visits sometimes a day. Yeah, so like I can't imagine the people that don't have the means to do that, right, Like my heart goes out to them, and that's that's that's my focus, just.

00:38:49
Speaker 3: Trying to help.

00:38:49
Speaker 1: I love that. I love you're doing an amazing job. I remember. I guess it was.

00:38:54
Speaker 4: Probably like two thousand and fifteen, sixteen seventeen.

00:38:58
Speaker 1: Is we're both single? Because what'd you get married?

00:39:00
Speaker 3: Yes? I got married in seventeen.

00:39:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, so around that time we were saying.

00:39:04
Speaker 2: Trying to figure out, but you.

00:39:11
Speaker 4: Figured it out, you married, And I want my question is how did you integrate into the Kenyan culture because I know, like being American from this area, like that was a big thing.

00:39:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, what was that like back then?

00:39:26
Speaker 3: You know, it wasn't that cool to be with in Africa.

00:39:29
Speaker 1: No, it wasn't.

00:39:29
Speaker 2: It was almost like Yo used to had a little nasty memes on social media. It's like the African starter kid.

00:39:38
Speaker 3: Oh me. I was like, oh my gosh, this is so mean. And so then when I met mine, my Kenyan man, it.

00:39:43
Speaker 2: Was like, oh girl, you need to get him tested he don't give you age.

00:39:47
Speaker 1: And I was like, what person he did with everybody.

00:39:50
Speaker 3: Friend during that time? Because she was like spreading this rumor that my husband all.

00:39:55
Speaker 2: These wives kids, and I mean it was nasty words. I was like, girl, I just couldn't even believe it. So I had to date him through all that stuff, not even to me.

00:40:09
Speaker 3: Weed even got into the cultural differences.

00:40:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to get into that too, but like that was it wasn't cute back then. Now it's like glamorizes like, oh yeah, get introduce me to one of his African friends. Now it's like it was like mm hmm, girls, she probably wanted his five wives. Wow.

00:40:28
Speaker 3: Not no, I mean it's just ignorance.

00:40:30
Speaker 4: Now, how did you like not let that get to you? Because I know sometimes you're hearing people talk about you.

00:40:36
Speaker 2: I had a good man. When I tell you that man like just you know, even wrapped me up. I mean his person and just he was just so kind, you know what I mean, say, get you somebody that loved you more than you love them, Like just worship your dirty drawns.

00:40:50
Speaker 3: That's the real thing.

00:40:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, And every time I would find a flaw in a relationship and I would get ready to like I'm done, I'm done.

00:40:56
Speaker 3: I want He would be like, let me tell you something. I will never leave you.

00:40:59
Speaker 1: Wow.

00:41:00
Speaker 3: Like one day I remember getting so pissy mad.

00:41:02
Speaker 2: About my order being wrong at fil A, like come on, not looking back make you feel stupid about being mad at Braddy. It's like I was like I said extra pickles, pepper jet and American, and he was like, I'm.

00:41:17
Speaker 3: Sorry, oh, And I was.

00:41:20
Speaker 2: Just like oh, I had to ask his attitude about it first.

00:41:24
Speaker 3: I was like, it's simple. I just asked for this, you know.

00:41:27
Speaker 4: And he was just like, do you feel like at that moment you were looking for an out or you're just like taking it?

00:41:31
Speaker 1: Everything's I think because you know, I've.

00:41:33
Speaker 2: Been single long then, he especially coming from a relationship that was abusive.

00:41:37
Speaker 3: I just had to let go of some of those yeacause I was flawed.

00:41:40
Speaker 2: I was also flawed, you know what I mean, Like I wasn't perfect, and I think running is the easy way, absolutely, and my parents have been married almost fifty years. And I was just like, you know what, let me take it back. Like this is a good man. He don't beat me, eat on cheat, He like he's got fearing he has come from a great family that's similar to mine.

00:42:02
Speaker 3: You know, his family loves me.

00:42:04
Speaker 2: They're very kind people. It ain't even the family that I had to worry about. It was all the other Kenyons that I would cook for my man and would show what I cook. There would be like that meat, I'm done, or that be like that ain't how Keenes eat.

00:42:17
Speaker 3: I don't like that, but chicken kind of way.

00:42:19
Speaker 2: And I'm just like, but he's like he would be the one like, don't worry about that.

00:42:22
Speaker 3: I love your chicken than this. Yeah. Then he took me to Kenya. I was welcoming.

00:42:30
Speaker 2: I mean they were at the airport with flowers and banner and I was like, yeah, it was so amazing and just to understand the culture more, you know, I love people to know this.

00:42:42
Speaker 3: I actually took Swahezi. I went back to Georgia.

00:42:44
Speaker 1: State really took. You were invested.

00:42:47
Speaker 3: Because what you're not gonna do is talk about me. And I don't know what y'all saying.

00:42:55
Speaker 2: Guess what they did, girl started speaking the tribal language.

00:43:00
Speaker 1: He's like the class for this.

00:43:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, they were like, yeah, we don't do Coq.

00:43:04
Speaker 2: We don't know it, so yeah, So then I lost so he because you know, you don't use it, you lose it.

00:43:09
Speaker 3: No one's speaking it around me. I was like done with it, but but I was.

00:43:12
Speaker 2: He was so impressed that I was so invested in and I hate the class. They even were trying to send me on a summer fully submersive program in Tanzania.

00:43:20
Speaker 3: Or Tanzania and I was here for it. He was like, yeah, no, and you're about to marry me, so to stay over here.

00:43:26
Speaker 1: That's so. How long did y'all day before her? That's good, that's yeah.

00:43:32
Speaker 3: And let me tell you what I used to do though in my twenties.

00:43:34
Speaker 2: I would give people two and a half years, like, if you ain't put a ring on it, I'm out here. That's a real thing. And so when I met my husband, first of all, I always talk about manifestation.

00:43:46
Speaker 3: Yes, I changed my name and his phone to wifey.

00:43:50
Speaker 2: And then I would always play shirts, baby I've been can play Yeah, And then wallets matrimony.

00:43:59
Speaker 1: How's that?

00:44:01
Speaker 3: That's a question. That's the same thing. That's the same thing. Yeah, you got it. Yeah, I'm every time we get in the car, it would just be like it don't be like. He was even singing it don't belong to any one, but.

00:44:14
Speaker 1: Yes that.

00:44:18
Speaker 3: Baby husband all the time, the.

00:44:23
Speaker 2: Babe happy honor giving him that, and he did it and he knew in the back of his mind because I'd already let him know when we were dating two years. He's like, so, what does it mean at two years? Are you just gonna come and break up with me? And I was like, no, but there'll be signs that I'm dating other people. I'm not gonna hide it.

00:44:39
Speaker 3: And he's just like, what, that's crazy.

00:44:42
Speaker 2: So if everything's great in our relationship for two years, if you're not engaging, we're not You're gonna just it's like you said, yes, yeah, that's a strong yes, yes, wow baby that that that two year mark started coming up and I was like, we went to you remember the guy that wrote the book min from Mars went from Ben's John Gray?

00:45:02
Speaker 3: Yes, so he this is my husband's haven't John Gray? Guy? Like he read all the love books all the on dating? And I went to his.

00:45:11
Speaker 2: We went to his love ranch in San Francisco and we did a.

00:45:15
Speaker 3: Couple's retreat, the only black couple. I was like, what is about to happen?

00:45:18
Speaker 2: Get out, but we did. We did the retreat and it was amazing. It was so good, like it was a couple's canceling. And at the end of that because when we got home that two years was gonna be done.

00:45:29
Speaker 1: Oh wow, what you're gonna do?

00:45:32
Speaker 2: And so we were in San Francisco at the end of the retreat.

00:45:36
Speaker 1: That's perfect.

00:45:38
Speaker 3: I was looking at the ring.

00:45:39
Speaker 2: I was like, yes, I know, this is a test from God. I would still say, yeah it was.

00:45:45
Speaker 1: It was said it was not.

00:45:48
Speaker 3: Off the old block.

00:45:49
Speaker 1: You said, was like, don't even know.

00:45:52
Speaker 2: It was one of the ones in your in this way you are everything I love. And I said to that amend.

00:46:05
Speaker 3: It was.

00:46:06
Speaker 4: It was he was testing to see what she was really about, right, And I'm like what He was like, Yeah, I'm gonna take you to New York Dimin District.

00:46:13
Speaker 3: You could just figure out what you want. Okay, we go tomorrow.

00:46:20
Speaker 1: From home.

00:46:21
Speaker 3: I was like, I refuse to tell my family that I'm engaged.

00:46:23
Speaker 1: And it was like, let's go.

00:46:25
Speaker 3: Let's just go.

00:46:26
Speaker 1: Oh that's so sweet.

00:46:28
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:46:28
Speaker 1: Is that the ring that you end up getting? That thing is beautiful.

00:46:32
Speaker 3: I got this band at three years Wow.

00:46:36
Speaker 1: Yeah he did that.

00:46:38
Speaker 4: Yes, and I actually do like the idea not to tell me to do this, but that he did, like just to make sure that you were like, yeah, we didn't got the right one.

00:46:48
Speaker 3: I didn't even know he was banking like that. We were really frugaling and you know.

00:46:52
Speaker 1: Oh so you didn't even know about how he know.

00:46:56
Speaker 3: I was like, he got no money, you know, not for real, you know.

00:47:00
Speaker 2: And then then I then I kept living with him and kept loving on him, and then it got better and better, and I was like, yeah.

00:47:10
Speaker 1: I love you so mate, you are so.

00:47:17
Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm not going anywhere.

00:47:18
Speaker 1: I love that.

00:47:18
Speaker 2: But that means he was doing the right things to really get like he made like listen, we lived in his bachelor pad for Shia was what.

00:47:31
Speaker 3: To Sha was like four years old, right before Shiloh came.

00:47:33
Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, we didn't move.

00:47:36
Speaker 3: Til like three years.

00:47:37
Speaker 2: We stayed there for like four years ago, Like we didn't move to three years ago. So I had to be very patience, patience baby, And I was like all right, now, cause you know, we're in Atlanta and people you don't walk up to you and be like, oh, yeah, I've been to.

00:47:51
Speaker 3: Your husband's house before.

00:47:52
Speaker 2: Oh, because he even have these parties and I'd be like, oh, I have okay, So I'd be like, he ain't been here lately.

00:48:00
Speaker 3: Then I would be like okay. And so then I was like, yeah, I'm I'm tired of that.

00:48:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not a good feeling.

00:48:04
Speaker 3: And they stept out of y'all gonna see what you stepped out and got me this season up the Rouse.

00:48:10
Speaker 1: Make sure you tune in March. I love that. I love that.

00:48:15
Speaker 3: So you did it. I was like, I'm so happy I was space ship.

00:48:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I mean, and that's that's the main thing.

00:48:20
Speaker 4: I think in this society, we have gotten so blinded by what can you do for me? And I need this to miss that we miss the things that if that all goes away, we miss what's truly important.

00:48:32
Speaker 3: What's truly important.

00:48:33
Speaker 2: Cause let me tell you, I've been in places and and and positions in my life.

00:48:36
Speaker 3: To where it's all gone away.

00:48:38
Speaker 2: Like even as a child, my parents had it all and then they lost it all.

00:48:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, and then they got it all again. So I've lived on every you know, I've seen it.

00:48:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, like some of our wealthiest people lose it all, yes, and get it all again. So what are you gonna do when you lose it all right? That man, I live underneath the rock.

00:48:55
Speaker 1: With h See that's what she wanted. That's real love.

00:48:58
Speaker 3: I love it as long as I have a warming blanket.

00:49:01
Speaker 4: Yes, you are so silly. What has been your greatest gift that you have gotten from the king culture and your biggest adjustment that you've had to make?

00:49:13
Speaker 3: You know, I feel that it's been family.

00:49:17
Speaker 2: And I never thought that I could feel more family oriented than what I came from, because, like I said, my parents have been married almost fifty years.

00:49:25
Speaker 3: I have two older sisters. We're very close knit family. But when I went to Kenya, it's not.

00:49:30
Speaker 2: Even about what you're wearing, how much you've got like Christmas, they're not giving each other gifts. They're giving each other love, like the company, the conversation, the companionship.

00:49:40
Speaker 3: They're singing, they're dancing, you know.

00:49:42
Speaker 2: Singing by the fire like it's just it's I don't even think about like, I'm like, okay, let me take the week off. You know, I'm just all of the things, all of the worldly things, and you're just there, present in the moment, just loving on.

00:49:56
Speaker 3: Each other and just enjoying it. Yeah, and the food is amazing.

00:49:59
Speaker 2: So like, just if there's anything I can take away from that, I want my kids to just.

00:50:05
Speaker 3: Go live in that during the summer months.

00:50:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I want to just keep them humble, keep the ground and know that there's so much more to light than just the things in their hair, all the things you know, you like, all the things.

00:50:19
Speaker 3: That's great, But then what else? What's at your core? What's in your.

00:50:23
Speaker 2: Heart that's blood? What are you gonna leave behind shoes? I mean, hey, they gonna tear up, like from what's at the center.

00:50:31
Speaker 3: Yes, what's in here?

00:50:33
Speaker 1: Yeah? I love that.

00:50:35
Speaker 4: What has been your biggest adjustment when you when it comes to integrating the.

00:50:39
Speaker 2: Two because sometimes, okay, sometimes we're at family events and stuff, they're all talking across.

00:50:44
Speaker 3: The table and they're you know, and kill you and I'm like, you know what, uh.

00:50:49
Speaker 2: And my husband would be like, oh guys, she med it doesn't understand what you're saying.

00:50:52
Speaker 3: He'll straight up said, I don't even have to see it. And that's a good thing.

00:50:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, that he has your bag, yes, because because once he sees me.

00:50:58
Speaker 1: Lean back and grab like this checked out.

00:51:03
Speaker 2: Because if y'all not gonna include me I'm not gonna keep begging and looking like what what does that mean?

00:51:10
Speaker 3: What did you what did you say?

00:51:12
Speaker 2: You're not I'm not gonna purpose though, No, But I have had like a few of his messy friends come and say something slick and and.

00:51:23
Speaker 3: He turn around, he be like, oh are you saying?

00:51:27
Speaker 2: And yeah, you better call it like don't leave my wife out. And that's I think what made it easy for us, Because if you don't have somebody like calling it out for you, it can get frustrated. So yeah, and then now I'm mad that he's not teaching our daughters.

00:51:43
Speaker 3: I'm like, no, wait a minute.

00:51:44
Speaker 2: Like I need you to speak to this when they go home to when they go to summer.

00:51:51
Speaker 3: I'm like speaking to them.

00:51:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, I love that made it easier.
