Mister Bradman, you're a huge hit. Really, how why it is the web world? Wow? I can't. We want to offer you your old job back with a fifty increase. Hmm. Thanks to close your eyes for two seconds. One till held out as long as that car. Four finger discount dude, Welcome to fourfing are Discount where. This week we are going to be reviewing the final episode of season eighteen. I can't believe we got all the way through. We're here to review. You can't always get what you want. I don't know. You can't always say what you want. Oh yeah, I'm just Laddie brain. We just established this, I said to Guy off the air, because Easter weekend just went by. I said, I think I had a good Easter. I can't quite remember, though, I remember little drips and drabs. Daddy Brain, I just lack a sleep. Just I don't know what it is these days. But I just can't think I wholly understand where you're coming from. By the way, my name is Guy, also known as God's Little Belly Acre, and yes, I'm feeling much the same way. We are recording this on a Wednesday morning. Easter is only a few days behind us, Yet neither Dan dandel war. Dude, don't do it. Dandy continued, It's the new Star Wars series called Dan Door. I may watch this. You would definitely watch it if it was a bad Dan do. It's basically about a Star Wars father trying to wrangle his kids and keep control of his But we are three days past the Easter Sunday, the Easter weekend, and yeah, neither of us can really remember what we did. Dano has an excuse. He brought together the Dan Doo clan, had a lot of Easter egg hunting, just a lot of, you know, good wholesome family time. I'm pretty sure the Lovely Louise and I just crashed on the couch. You said, you're watching World's Craziest Airports. Yeah, add night swim. Now I want to discuss the night swim. That's what I really want to discuss. We're discussing night swimming. I don't know how it came up, but it was basically, a guy buys a house with a haunted pool, and I said, how do you establish that your pool is haunted? What has to happened for this to occur? I am being very remiss in my duties as film critic. You can boot me off the movie guys for this. I'm pretty sure I checked out, like maybe half an hour or forty minutes into it, because like, how much can you do with a haunted swimming pool? How does it kill people? Spoiler alert? But I'm pretty sure it drowns them or I think it acts in a way. It's like, this was my idea, and if it turned out to be something better or worse than this, well either I oh the film an apology or I'm just going to shape my fist at it. I was like, I think the pool might be possessed by some spirit, whereby if you sacrifice something to the pool, it'll give you something back. So if you like drowned your kid or something, it'd be like, here's a hot crust bunt. I would do it for two hot Did you go one with the hot gross? I didn't eat one this entire season. I've never been huge and oaster when I was maybe late teens, like the chocolate chip ones, but they stopped doing the cabri one, so they just do the home brand chocolate now, and I'm like it doesn't taste very good. They used to do Cabriary style ones, which cost a couple of dollars extra, but the cabri style ones or the Cabrity drops inside the chocolate drops were much better. Well, they still have those of woolies, don't they do they believe because yeah, lose kids went wild for those, and they had the Cabrian chocolate ones. Yeah, they were eating them for like a very long time up until a Christmas time they do. I mean, it's become a running joke on social media that, you know, it's become a running joke on social media that if you a day or so after Christmas, like time for Easter and people sort of get up at arms about it. I'm like, hot gross buns are out there, man. Yeah, but it's weird though where they do they still put hot cross buns out throughout the year and just go heavy with them at Easter season or is it a case of they go right Easter is over, no one's gonna want to et crosunchs. I'm pretty sure if it's the middle of July and it's cold and there's hot cross buns there to purchase, people are going to buy them. Surely they must still bake them. I was at the supermarket last night, and they had a whole heap out. I think it was the flavor that no one liked, which is apple cinnamon, which I like, Oh, really, you're the weird guy. Though you're the guy. It's the pickle. You didn't the pickle, but you have all the You like the Yeah, I do, Indeed, I like the chaser. Would you say Louise is a variant on a million? That's a better way of putting it. Yeah, she's she's red, she's one of one, she's the gold card, she's the golden snitch, the golden ticket, and that would make me Harry Potter. But you can't always say what you wanted me. We should wrap a few things up just quickly. Watch this movie called Night Swim. Yes, man, my opinion was, if I bought a house with a swim haunted swimm pool, I would simply go to the beach. They would put that on the on the least though may or may not be haunted swim at risk, at risk did not swim a full stomach? Yes, or you know, if I fady go for spook. You can't always say what you want. What did you think of this as a season finale. My first note is it took half the episode before we got to the story. Of half half the episode. Look, it was nine minutes and forty five seconds or some before Kent said something that you shouldn't said on the end. I'm thinking it took nine and a half minutes to get to the story. What are we doing here? I know what are we doing? This really felt assembled from leftover pieces left around lying around the writer's room floor. I liked the Tracy Alman short at the start celebrate the twentieth anniversary, and it proves that they're still out there and available in HD. Can we get those things released? Please? If you're watching Simpson's HQ and you've got access to release those Simpson shorts from the Almond days, do it please. I want to watch them. I don't want to watch shitty bootleg versions on you too want to watch them, no good quality, So please release them. Also, if you're watching Simpsons HQ, put us on the payroll. Yeah, do it? Why not? We won't do anything. We just want to be on the payroll. That's a better say. It's the American dream, It's the world wide dream, Yes it is. Indeed, how big is How big is the Web? How wide is the web? World? World? Yes, so I liked I liked the short at the start to celebrate in the twenty anniversary, right, but it just went on that bit where Marge's trying to get to the school. I was thinking, are we going to get to the end of this or what? Okay, I know that's a parody of something. Yes, I'm putting a minute het. Yeah, it's a tribute to the Coen Brothers movie Raising Arizona, Nicholas Cage and Holy Hunter. Yes, because apparently Cage rust of run somewhere or something. Yeah, And it's using that very point of view shot all the way through, and the banjo music is directly from Raising Aerage just that one shot or was the whole movie from his point of view? Oh no, no, not the whole movie. Okay, there are sequences in it that are very much like that. So, and it's, by the way, one of the great American comedies in nineteen eighties. Fantastic movie. Love Raising Arizona. Okay, Yeah, I highly recommend you watching. Oh, we'll check that out. I wonder IF's available on Disney Plus. It may well be Disney Plus. You notice have changed the color scheme now of Disney Plus it's not blue anymore. It's almost like an aqua. Has it gone teal? Yes, it has become tea independence exactly. Yeah, and the political reference of no one else. I think the sound is a bit different now at the start. And well, I noticed that the thumbnails are changing because I'm getting the dancing Lisa now as opposed to them in Sungloves. They always do that, but this is like changing you have. Everything has their own sound when you turn them on, like Netflix. Do Doom mentioned that Netflix change that it's a slight change, but it throws me off now when I open up the app, Dan, I was looking genuinely discombobulated, but I wasn't impressed. I don't like things changing. Don't put existing clocks, just lee things as they are. I don't want to were's the clouds on to shape my fists? You know? Just but I you well and truly have steer into middle age. You were talking about it the other day about something you mentioned on on maybe in the Facebook page, about something oh generation X. It started when I started started noticing haircuts and going, that's just ridiculous. That's that was where's the start. Yeah, I was like, uh, I'm making fun of I'm annoyed at people's hair. I'm getting old. Yeah, oh yeah, were you watching? Were you watching the football? That's when I first started happening, and watching all the younger footballs with their shaved, obnoxious mullets, and I'm thinking, what are you doing? Yeah, just shaving this living part around the temples, and then seeing little kids doing it as well, And I look at their dads and their dad's had the same haircut, and I'm thinking, what are you doing to your kids? This is a systemic child abuse that the vicious circle or cycle of ongoing abuse is just continuing to happen. Well, I will say though, I was very impressed that there there's about three or four kids in an Elliott's classroom who have just shit haircuts. They're just shitty haircuts. One's got a rattail. You think, what are you doing? Like, They're clearly not good for these kids at all. Right, Clearly I see it as the parent is putting the haircut that they wish they could do onto the child and living by charrousip. But anyway, it was Ferdoy Day last week and these kids rocked up with all nice haircuts, and I was like, there's a haircut. You can set your watch too. Thank goodness, you wake up to yourselves, because that kid with a thirty centimeter rattail. It's not good, not good at all. I some times think going bald maybe one of the best things that happened to Guy as he went into middle age, because I'm fairly weak willed, and I seek the approval of the crowd, and I probably would have got an inappropriate haircut for a man of my advanced years. You and I know someone about you know, forty ye ish that does that sometimes. Oh yeah, they redacted. What are you doing? How we get to talking about haircut? Me getting old? Yeah, that's right. I don't know. Just but I can't remember raising Arizona for something to do with that. It could well be, well, I think it may well be on Disney Plus, which Disney plus changing the thing, which changing? But so yes, okay, so do you you appreciated it? Did you? That's that thing? I just thought it was going on and on and on it did. Go listens to the show. Will know that when I rent my handwritten notes, hold them on to the camera, going, hold them up, make me worse something one day good will be. I've got my old book of notes them. Yeah, that's got written on it f ft nets. We should scan that and just put it on the Patreon just for I thought you're about to say we should scan that, by which I mean we would like hold an auction for charity. Please will pay you to take them, take take these off our hands, will put the money in the charity of your of our choice. So by which I made my bank account in your notes. So you're you're bringing I have a green highlighted, which means it's good. Raise the gazonn a shout out with the exclamation park next letter. Okay, this is going on a bit long. Yeah, just when it felt like there was a three or four moments in this episode where it just dragged and it felt like I was padding this ship out. Yeah, yeah, but certainly that first halt man, Yeah, what was even the story? I kind of remember now that the other dentists. That's right, Well, they're playing pictionary with pat mate. They've got to get to the dentist. Then there's a whole thing at the dentist and Ludacris is there, and how does it how does hom Ice went the way home, and that's right. And when I said, I was like, we went through all that ship but hoping to onto smart life for buying your fucking ice cream. That's one big exciting incident. Creepers. Man, what is happening? Oh man? Speaking of what is happening, let's talk about Menace Tooth Society. Yes, so that movie apparently had mixed reviews. Menace to Society, Yes, is that true? I believe so. Yeah. I don't think I've ever actually seen Menace too. So when Lisa says this thing has mixed messages, apparently that's what a lot of the critics said the film. Okay, I can't really work out what it's trying to be. I think it was. I'm trying to remember exactly when it came out. I think it's early ninety and it was in the world of Boys in the Hood. So you've got a whole wake of hood movies, African American hood movies, and this one was done by the Hughes brothers, who were actually pretty good filmmakers and did a really great movie after this one called Dead Presidents. But I think a lot of people going, well, is this telling it like it is about how these in the hood or is it just you know, neo blax'sploitation. And I was like, I don't care, man, it's cool, but this but this version Menace tooth Society is as your dance? What was it? Baby got back? What bacteria? Bacteria? Yeah, the wordplay was the was fantastic. I couldn't tell if they were taking the piss out of pandering public service announcements because there were so many that just employed hip hop tropes to get down with the kids. Yeah, what are the kids into? What are they down with? They're down with hip hops. Let's talk about brushing your teeth in the in in that vernacular. But I don't know. This had Hank's voice all over it, and these days that's kind of a red flag. Yeah, in some way it does. Yeah, but when they let's bust up these whities and I was like, oh, okay, okay, I found it pretty funny. And the fact that they actually got ludicrous into to do it. But please was his real name? I think that's one of my questions. Okay, Chris, only his name is Chris, Chris Bridges, Chris Bridges. Okay, It's one thing I love about wrestlers, about hip hop guys who make the transition from one thing to the other. I mean, for a while, when when The Rock started making movies, he was build as the Rock, and then he was Dwayne the Rock Johnson. Now it's just Dwayne Johnson and The Rock again. Yeah, okay, Well, once he's backing a movie, and it's just because he owns the Rock. He wasn't because basically Vincaman didn't like him using the term the Rock because he owned that trademark. So the reason The Rock one of the things he agreed to come back, was only if he could get the rights to the trademark of the Rock, which he now owns. Yeah, we say this on pretty much every episode, but we're loving the Rocks. Heel turned. But also, you know, when Luda was started making movies, he was built as Ludicrous and I think, yeah, he's a picture of the Fast and Furious movies. I think in the in the credits there, he's Chris Ludicrous bridges a lot of the more transitioning the notes you had our cool j Yeah, I think went by James Todd Smith his actual okay Christian name. Did he even in Deep Impact? I think there's only in one movie that he went. But it was like James Tod Smith okay, cool ja okayone was like nobody wants James Todd Smith in a movie. Everyone wants what about Coolier? He was in something? Oh Coolier was in here? Yeah. Yeah, But I'm trying to think of how many actually I thought, but he is the name is on my birth certificate, or if I want to really transition and become a proper star. I don't think many did, did they? Not? Many? Yeah? The rock went to Dwayne, but I mean Triple H goes by Triple H. Actually Paul Lavec because he's the boss now he's the Paul of Ec. I'm wondering if he has actually pulled Levec in any movies. He might movies he wouldn't have been. No, but if in the wrestling now he's referred to as Paul Yeah, okay, yeah. Interesting. But the story here also is just a what would you call it? Not a satire? I guess of just censorship and going to the extreme when someone makes it. A blueprist has a swear on the air, it's cancer culture, cancel culture. Yeah, it's pre dating cancer culture. Yeah, that was a real thing, and it was a definitely a real thing for Fox. I guess this episode doesn't really work now because it's pre social media because if you say something now, it's available online, right, but no one was watching, which means he was essentially getting away. That wasn't until Flanders watched an old tape that he then said, look, this needs to be you know, he needs to get in trouble for this. So it doesn't really work in this format in twenty twenty four. Not quite. It's a look back. That's not bad because we can't judge an episode that was relevant in two thousand and seven or whatever and say it's not relevant now. It was when it was on an air. But I still wasn't sold on the episode. At the end of it, I just went, oh, I was all right. And I've read so many good reviews online, people saying it's one of the best wides of the season. I was very surprised to read that. I just didn't do much for me. I don't have to go that far, but I think I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but there wasn't enough of it, though I think it's certainly less than some of the parts. I enjoyed all its parts pieces, but in terms of oh, this doesn't really feel like it hangs together all that well. I mean, it's almost like it's two episodes. Yeah, twenty two short films about Springfield in a way, but it felt like two stories. This is the data more than stories. It did exactly, you're right, yeah, but the ending, I get the reason is sort of cut off short. That's the sort of the gag. But I felt that was also their way of writing themselves out of a hole because they rate out of time. Again. Yeah, I think it felt like it had more ideas that it wanted to express, that an actual story that it wanted to tell. Because the gimmick of Brockmann going back at the top of a hat money's offered more money, money doesn't land as well because he didn't. It wasn't it never should have been poor, but he wasn't sort of going through trouble for too long. It was like three minutes of the episode he was down in my luck and I'm making this video and we have one scene where two teenagers go, hey, you're doing a great job, and in the same scene Lisa's like, oh no, you're changing the world. Now you're doing a great thing. He gets off of money, he goes back, and I'm thinking it should have been ten minutes of him changing his ways and you know, making a difference in the world, and then the drop of all more money. That would have had more of an impact, in my opinion, than just two minutes. Oh yeah, absolutely. It seemed odd that Ken Brockman ended up sleeping on the Simpsons couch. Yeah, you need a bridging scene or two, or a crisp bridging scene. Why though I know that they they tried to write themselves a scene, I'm just concerned he might do this a suicide like suicide. I'm thinking that's just that's lazy. It's like we want to keep rock when deliver the Simpsons. He would never live on the Simpsons couch. That's an escape patch. Yeah, why would he agree to do that. It's just it's ridiculous. He's got to mansion. One might even say it's ludicrous. That's not the first time you're going to hear that joke today, folks, stay tuned. My favorite I feel like you've covered my favorite moment with any other favorite moments for you. Well, let's see what I've I got in green here raising Arizona shout out. I enjoyed very much, as you know, big fan of Arnie Pie in this house, we worship Arnie Pie, and very glad to see that you got a promotion. Well that was good news. This is the thing though, of that scene. No, I'm nitpicking, right, maybe he's just got a lets of the bad taste my Methods episode by the way ended and everything. But he says, I'm being demoted to weatherman on the weekends. Right, he gets out of his chair and starts doing the weather. I'm like, it's not the weekend? What's going on here? Yes, there are some parts you don't have to think about it too much, or perhaps even shouldn't. You shouldn't. That's the thing. Yeah, I know that I would totally watch Landing Strip. It seemed like I I merely thought of you when that came on. Yeah, I did, like Ken just climb, yeah, close your eyes for two seconds, Lisa jumping into the army the stretch, humming, hey, hell that as long as I go. I just don't understand. And I've always thought that brockmann stick was that he was this guy who just he's over the top and he's doing this fake news and he doesn't care at all. He has no morals, but he's just like whatever for a quick buck. And then he seems to be bothered that they're not talking about it at a hot, hot button topic because Home is on the show. And I'm thinking he wouldn't care. That's what has been that's almost been his thing up to this point. I think it's asking the viewers to do a bit of heavy lifting and do a bit of extrapolating. I mean, I've always been of a mind that journalists don't really get into journalism, even broadcast journal, news reader or anything like that, you know, strictly for a payday. I mean, there are far better careers. And I mean if you wire someone who can either good evening and welcome to such and such, I mean, yeah, you can find ways to monetize that that are probably less onerous than reading the news. If you've got a way with language or whatever, go into pr it's probably going to pay better. You know. You go into journalism because you think, well, I can make a difference in some way, or I want to communicate important ideas or relevant information to the general public. If you may make a success of it. And also just as you get older, it's like, well, like the bills to pay and being the independent journalist who's you know, breaking the mark and holding truth to power, speaking truth to power or whatever. You can have a solid gold house if that's the you won't have a solid gold house with a solid gold toilet. And that's what we all aspire to. So yeah, eventually you're gonna sell out to some degree. But every once in a while you'll probably go what happened to the dream man? I used to have principles and ideals and all that kind of stuff. It's like, oh, but solid gold toilet toilet? So I did. So I get the feeling that Brockman is probably like that. Every once in a while he realizes, oh, wait a minute, I'm going to Enivy, the guy who who bought the million diarts cream cone. I don't want to dissay there's a very local reference for sorry to people who were quite honestly, we could have just had them walking into the ice cream store as the start of the episode. You didn't need anything leading up to that, none of it. You didn't need anyone, say, someone like Tracy Grimshaw. He used to host a show on in a straight called The Current Affair. Joyce was she intimidated the shit out of me when I was a kid. She was a good journalist, Oh yeah, absolutely, and a good presenter as well. But I mean a current affair was very much. He has six months. The person next door is not mowing their lawn. How does it feel to catch sitting on their doorsteps? To be adjacent to the neighbor From here, this is a current affair, maybe for the person in the house next door, not for me. So Tracy is probably making money hand over for this. But at the same time going he used to have integrity, man, So I get where Kent is coming from. Here as a boiling point, you think, yeah, And it's a nice cynical thing that he realized. I held out my principle as long as that good good ching yea. And now a word from our sponsor, Yeah, check out my shouldn't we Gavin shre Gilmore too apparently Now is it? Is it Christopher McDonald who's saying this? And is anyone else saying this? Yeah? Is the Sandman saying See the Samman hasn't said it's not happening. Friend of the pod. Yes, can you imagine what Adam Sandler on here? Just a whole see we're speaking your language, you're anyway. But yeah, I think he is saying that because he's trying to sort of put it into the universe. He's manifest because now have enough people say we can't wait to see it, the sam is gonna go, ah, fuck, well I've got my eleven thousand picture deal with Netflix. Maybe Happy film or two could be one. Well, maybe he's just because he's a smart man, Adam Sandler, right, and she's a big deal of Netflix obviously. Maybe he's just gone, hey McDonald, put it into the universe. Let's just see what I see, what happens to people say if they're looking forward to it, and because the thing is then he can always go, oh, now he's just making it up, you know. By the way, speaking happy, you're more, That's what I was going to say. We need to send a rest in peace to the late great Joe Flaherty Jackass. Jackass a terrific comic actor. He was on sc TV, which is pretty the Canadian equivalent for Saturday launching Power the likes of John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Rick morandas I believe, maybe not Rick Mirannas, but certainly a lot of a lot of cool talent came out of that one. He was on one of my favorite TV shows of all time, Freaks and Geeks, and of course he was on Happy Good One and look in a bunch of movies recently recently passed away, love Red Lobster, Love Red Lobster, Who among us? So this episode here apparently was originally called the Kent State Massacre, but unfortunately the Virginia Tech Massacre happened about a month before it went to and the change the title on probably a good thing, even yeah, don't do it. Yeah, that worked precisely once, and that was for Texas shainswaw Here Massacre. And you immediately just think of things that aren't pleasant, you know, that is true, Yes, see, whether it be a horror movie or just horrific things happening in real life. So you just avoid the word massacre when it comes to comedy. By the time we got into that, I was talking about my favorite parts of the episode. I think I've wrapped it up. Yeah, there'll probably be more as we go through the episode. But Dan, what did you enjoy aout. I'm already covid mine. I'm just okay, yeah, not all that bothered. Well should we maybe then? One more note here? I want to talk about the episode. So the episode was intentionally spoofed the increased fines by the FCC in the wake of the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Oh of cool. I can still remember when that happened, and it was huge. It's like, how dare she show her nipple on television? And you look back now and you go, really, we got an uproar over this. She knows, she didn't know. It's like you had a nipple ring on. It was pretty obvious. You knew it was gonna happen. I don't think anything like that would happen without it. JT was like, could rip her fucking shirt off? That is not gonna happen. No, it's not gonna happen. In the close up on the boob as it's happening. It was all perfectly timed. There's a word we all need to remember in these situations. Okay, fape, Yes, keep the dream alive. Still real to me. But however, a month before the episode aired, don Imus, I want to say, I was suspended and subsequently fired for remarks he made on the air about the Rutgers University women's basketball team through events closely paralleling the events of this episode. Yes, he Don was a bit of a Howard stern ish kind of I think he predated Howard Stern and took it too far. Took it a bit too far. Consider himself a bit of a free speech warrior. It's like you can't say anything these days, like, well, you certainly can't say what you were saying, what without sort of? I think it just sexist. I think it was pretty sexist and maybe pretty racist as well. Jeep. Yeah, okay, not a good combination. No no, no, hopefully never together again. Too great tastes that don't taste great, and they're not great taste, horrible taste. It tastes even worse together too great taste, Okay when they're by themselves. Guys didn't even real racism. Sex isn't together. Oh dear, How appropriate that a guy would get canceled on an episode talking about the early movion and you can't always see what you want, guy. I just want to recap, because yeah, Fox was definitely aware of this. Kind of thing because I believe they got so many letters due to married with children as well. There's like twenty years earlier though, really marrible children. Maybe child launch in the eighties, okay, two thousand and seven. Well Fox has got long memories, but I'm pretty sure that well Fox was also twenty years prior to this episode totally moody. Yeah, okay, but Fox tended to pride itself though on being a little racing and risk game. Yeah, something ribaled Now that's what they base their whole network around. But the thing is, it's like, yeah, as they point out, they're so right with their news we yet they're putting sexy shit. It's like, what's going on here? It doesn't really make sense. My first question for you, mister Davis, is let me get at my notes once again. Okay, I've just moved that notepad into a separate window. Fantastic, Here we go. It's in Flander's nice pile. One of them is a test pattern non Indian. Yep. I can't remember the other thing. I'm seven hundred club seven artcod that's right, yes, all right, what's your first one? Homer has been a member of the American Apple Source Association since when. Oh, I'm gonna say eighty seven, nineteen seventy eight, seventy eight. We've got the seven in the eight, right, yeah, the right way around. It's a little bit dyslexic, it's all right, yes, a little bit. I don't you've joined the name of the movie for me. So that was that was my next question. I'll try and find another one for you here. Uh who? In the final photo was Kent Brockman interviewing, and he's looking at the photos of his career on the wall. Oh, damn to be a pretty super nerd to get this. It's not R two D two, it's R four D four. It's the one with a bad motivator. Yeah, is it is that the one that Uncle I was gonna buy one? It shits the bed and it pops its top. Just that droid didn't shit the bed, we'd never get Star Wars. I know, Ungle Owan, the R two Union has a bad motivator. No one got attached against the Palagambu, the Empire's whole you know, defense road on that Devoi, on that droid, on that shitty made droid. Yes, it just manages to get to Uncle Owen. No, the Skywalker Empire wins. I that R two un and I have a lot in common in that I also have a bad motivator. So that's R five D four R five de four. Yes, apparently it says on the Wook on the wookie Pedia. R four d four though is on the or R two d or R two dt. I don't know. It says R four d four. Was that like the ah, Maybe that's not the Simpsons version of R two D two because because R four D four on the Wikipedia page for this is hyperlinked but it takes you to R two D two's the sim the Star Wars parody, and it's fucking terrible. The one the one jar was initially sell Uncle Owen. It's not rounded, it's not a little pointy. It's R five d's it's more square. It's R five D four apparently because actually has been in Simpson four. It's the gay Roberts and Star Wars. What were that met to? The moblu Skywalker episode used the fox Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, so it's our f DFA apparently in the Wikipedia page, but I don't know. Apparently it doesn't exist. Who knows a lot of the glory days of Star Wars action because they actually had like that, Yeah that Dray the Bad Unit. Yeah as an action figure. Well what a nicon though, Oh yeah, I would rather have that than I do D two. I had a lot of action figures of various figures from the Canteen. I had Greedo, but I also had the little werewolf guy in the red wet suit, the big I would wanted the the one with that have ahead. I had the Hammerhead. Yeah, yeah, I don't think I had any of the musicians. I love it In E. T. When Spielberg just had as as a call to to Lucas because our friends. He goes here, Henry Thomas as Elliott, he's a bunch of Star Wars toys. Just talk to this et toy. And I just think it's just felt so real that scene that you reckon it did. I've got to rewatch et. It's been a long time, man, it's fucking great. Good movie. Yeah, very very good. Another question from you, and we'll get into the review. When Homer boards the airline shuttle, which airline does he say or go to the start with B? No? American something? Yes? American B? What is it? America north? South, Eastern? What? American West? Yes? Okay, is it a real thing? Must be? I don't know who knows anyway, I don't tell you what I do know when this episode originally aired. Oh, I could give you one more question. I'll do it please. I beg you Newshounds Awards. How many Emmys did he win? And how many nominations did he get? I also shame on me for for one of those, right, No, shame on me for assuming those Newshands agenda. It could be they then how many Emmys? The idea seven seven, how many nominations eleven, fifteen, fifteen, There we Go. So original air date of You Can't Always Say What You Want was May twentieth, two thousand and seven, the final episode to air before the Simpsons movie came out. Okay in I want to Say July of two thousand and seven, I Believe our production coach jab F one five, written by Tim Lung and directed by Matthew Nastuck guestar and Ludicrous and Maurice la Marsh as the Fox narrator. He's back, He's back, baby. He's in a lot of Simpsons episodes these days, isn't he what they go to? Good on him? Everyone leads a side hustle they do indeed, Yeah, I think does he need a side hustle? Is Maurice Lamash? I feel like voice actors though, don't really have side hustles. It's just their voices just in everything. They have cameos, they disappear on everything. Yeah. But the episode kicks off with the tribute. I say tribute when it's just them playing family portrait. The episode from the Tracy Elma showed in eighty seven Yeah, twenty years later, celebrating the fact that this is the four nth episode, and it's twenty years ago. It's weird. There's one line where he goes, watch your mouth's little smart ass, and I was like, it's not a bad word, but it just felt feel odd coming out of his mouth. Yeah, it's just sort of oh okay, but so very nostalgic. I mean, kids, do you even know what that means when someone says this is the last picture on the roll? Yeah? True, not anymore. They were, those were the days. I mean we look back now, look back fondly but terrible. Imagine much, Imagine how many memories we missed because we didn't take the right fucking photo. But I guess they added to the charm with the actual photo you got, didn't it? That is correct? And also you know you've got your brain for memories? Yeah, do we need them? Not really, not anymore, free of all that ram for something else, yes, but Spinster City apartments And for some reason, Maggie and Marge are playing against Patty and somewhere in the game of pictionary, and they're doing very very well because they share their special bond. And then Maggie notices the time reminds Marge that she has to get Bartonley's to the dentist an appointment at three, and I thought, that's a weird time to book a dentist appointment when school finishes. I thought, at three anyway, Paddy and somewhere then win by four foot. The sweetest win there is there is yes, and the car unfortunately won't stay. So then we get your favorite moment, Yes, the extended mix raising Arizona shout out, Yeah, that's about it. I did some freeze framing here. So she knocks over comic book guy on her way to the to the to her house, and he's got Zebra Girl, zoid Zilla, and zillionaire comics in his books. You have to it's really fast. I free framed a lot two or three times just to make sure I got it. She grabs some sugar from like as in the squishy from the cookie mark for some sustenance, then knocks over snake and then accidentally swaps Maggie for the gun. Has that happened in the movie? Stopping over? What is it? He's stealing something, isn't he? I read that cagees grab something, he's running off with it, or something is stolen a pillow? Something Now it's a bag of nappies or a bag of nappies, that's the one. Yes, Nappy's wife his kid open. Nicolas Cage and Holly Hannah can not have children. Yes, they're still a kid. There was a local millionaire whose wife has just given birth to five children. Only Hander who's actually a cops. Yes, they got more than a handle, so they kidnapped one and makes so are they antiheroes? No? No, it's actually kind of sweet in a way. How is it sweet? You have to watch the movie. Okay, I'm going to watch this movie now. I didn't realize Cage was doing films in the eighties. I'm not gonna lie. I thought he broke out in the nineties. Oh no, I had no fucking idea. No, okay, it's been around since the early eighties. So do you want to watch for the first time? This week's speaking Nicholas Cage Gone on sixty Seconds. Oh yeah, I was just went we went in nineties. Actually, I know it's two thousand and that film, but my dad loved Nicholas Cage growing up. And there's the three films that I've never seen, Gone sixty Seconds, eight Millimeter and Snake Eyes I've seen them. So have you watched all of those? Now? No, I've only watched one sixty seconds. I've got eight millimeters and Snake Eyes to go. Which one should to go next? Do you think, uh maybe Snake Eyes Millimeter is yeah a bit grimy, isn't. Is it a snuff films? Yes? Yeah, okay, I've heard about that one. Yeah, So say, guys, I was assuming it's about gambling, more of a conspiracy thrill thriller cool, I'm looking for. Nicholas Cage was so good in those films everything. He's the perfect case of just crazy but not too crazy. I'm sure. Now I've watched Nicholas case Show in a long time. But back in those days, oh yeah, that's he was like the peak of action flicks for a while. There wasn't he absolutely, and that was really sort of unusual as well. I mean it was like a I mean, he was ripped, but he wasn't like a Swartzenegger. He was always in really good shape, which came across as kind of interesting. I mean, there were he's there are a few movies he did in yeah, in the mid eighties where he had his shirt. It was like wow, Okay, he's actually in shape. But it wasn't until Rock conn Air face off in the in the Midwater Trifector in the mid nineties because before then he was a bit of an everyman. Now he's trying his hand. He was basically known as as a dramatic actor. He won the Oscar just maybe a year or so beforehand for the leading Las Vegas. But he's done romantic comedies and all manner of stuff. Yeah, and The Family Man, well that was later. Yes, Connais to me is still one of my favorite just popcorn action flicks. That's one I've got to rewatch as well. I haven't watched that in a very long time. It's just so absurd. But like so many characters in that, Cyrus the virus that's a matrix nous, isn't. Yeah, there's Cyrus who is kind of virus in the matrix Malcovich. What a fucking villain. Yeah, But I mean just an incredible cast. Yeah, you know Bing Raims. Yeah, bow ship on my window again, isn't it? Of course? Yeah, I'm gonna do it. We'm gon watch the movie tonight. I don't can do it. Yes, But things that aren't as interesting as Connie, We've got this episode to get through. But so she eventually gets home, nearly gets run over by mold man in a truck. She steps on the heads of the quimby women in the pool. She goes down a manhole as rats as gators, as Barney goes through a Chinese New Year prayed, I guess. Then the Irish there so Patrick's day couldn't work it out, go through a dog park, Helen love Joy gets the one thing, fucking is she ever going to get there? What the is going on here? I can stretch it out? This is the Dictionary definition of padding. You think though, with a story that's so based so much on satire, that they would have loved to have stretched that out. But it's I don't know how they couldn't, Like, there's so much you could have delved into there, but that I guess they just didn't want to. It's weird. Maybe they got the word from the movie is nearly out, let's just get on with it, or they got the word from the legal department at Fox. You can say this, but you can't say that. I'd always say what you want. It's sitting in the right Oh, the irony they arrive home, and then she says he's gonna be taken to the dentist. Homer thinks are gonna be taking dirt back riser in the cemetery. He's also feltful the trick went out at the dentist. And I'll assign here, no matter how much you brush, you're doing it wrong. They alway tell you're doing it wrong. Every days I've been to they tell me a different way. You got to brush, this way. You've got to floss. Some say floss, some say don't. I just I don't get it. Have you had a DNA say don't flast? Had not not what I'm using seeing now. The last one used to go, don't floss, it's not good for your gums. Never do it. And the one I'm going to now is like, if you don't floss, you're an idiot. I get the feeling. Flossing incorrectly is probably bad for your gun. Probably, Yeah, doing anything correctly is probably not good for you. Right, that's a very good point. But Homer is not flossing, and his guns hurt us from the breeze touching him, and the kids hear this and get scared. Blah blah, blah, basicly joke there. Then they showed Lisa the video on oral hygiene menace tooth society. Damn baby bit got bacteria? You want to take it to these Why is he? I'm down with old pp I'm going period, donal problems, break it down. Ludacrist arrives to save the day. Lisa says, this movie has mixed messages. That's ludicrous. No, I just thought the cameo outside of the film was really odd, like he's annoyed it. They're showing the film outside of the one time that he about it too, and just I don't know, just one a little bit too far, like just leave it in the film a bit. I guess I just wanted to say the film, I'd say the gag that's ludicrous, That's what they really wanted to do. But anyway, Bart has then given a new toothbrush. He says, you expected to do your job at home for you for free. Then he overhears Skinner he's been put under the happy gas and this wasn't funny, this was just evil. Yeah, there's nothing funny to this legitimate torture. Yeah, I mean, I don't like anything to do with dentistry. Barb being a little pranksters one thing, but this is just for no reason. This felt like, you know, that's scene in Marathon Man where the evil Nazi dentist is trying to get information using evil dentistry and not good at all home and then suggests we get some ice cream. Marge then pretends to be okay. I thought, this is one of those moments again where you're just acknowledging Marge isn't happy anymore, but she's just going along with it because she feels like she has to. I'm like, then, don't point this out. Well, she has gone to all this effort to wrangle everyone to the dentist and all this all this stuff, and then as soon as they're out of the dentist's office, well, let's go do the opposite, or let's go do something little undo all this good work. So I can sort of understand where she's coming from, and just just reffirm for me what a waste of time this first fucking six seven minutes was. But they get their hostes on a health Kike and then adds all these extra chocolates and whatnot on his ice cream purchased a millionth cone decides what's a cup and then it goes back to a cone. You're missing one of my favorite lines. What is that? What is a fun day? It's a sad day. It's fun. Yes, I thought you might like that. But because he's bought the millionth cone, he's now on smart line and rather than talk about the Middle East, they're going to be talking about Homer's fateful treat as he puts it, and then accidentally knocks the coffee onto Brockman and whenever he would be actually said, I'm assuming it's the sea bomb when you think hmm, it seemed like it went for a while. I'm wondering if he said it has twelve letters and starts with M and it's a favorite of Samuel L. Jackson's. Yes it is. It's a favorite of many people. Can we say that one? Do you reckon? I mean, we tend to blur out the sea word, don't we We play the sea word. But you can say that m F word. We can say motherfucker. We say fuck all the time? What we say fuck all the time? I think say mother in front of it just makes his hand cool. Probably want to get down how the kids saying fuck? These days to remember the first time I heard, and it was probably when I first heard like Eddie Murphy's stand up. This was in the early eighties and I was still a kid, but I remember I was out. I was just like walking up at the footy oval at the end of the street or something, and some bigger kids rode past on bikes and I'm pretty sure one of them, hey, motherfucker, And I was like, scandal. Ali asked me the other day. He goes, it's bloody, a swear word, and I thought, thought, it's not a swear word, but you really shouldn't say it's not a good word. And Washington what he bloody? And he goes, stop swearing that. I was like, I'm not swearing. I get what you're saying. You shouldn't say it. I shouldn't say it either, Okay, But Hobby's now started saying shit in context. So she fell over here, Sa and she goes, shit, Jesus Christ. I'm clearly swearing way too much. But that's what happens when you work in a factory for a decade. You just That's also what happens when you spend any time in the world any By the fuck why but yeah, so Brockman has sworn on TV and everyone's shocked by it. Well, well, actually when he leaves, so he makes the apology and says he's going to make a donation to a charity about kids swearing or something along those lines. Yeah, and then he goes out to the street and realize that nobody actually watched it because, as coming Guy puts it, nobody watches it on TV anymore. It's on the internet. Farewell, danis sur yes, so he thinks his career is safe, but then tells him to get on an airport bus and leave me alone. Grandpa was annoyed though, because he was watching the TV because he's an old dinosaur. Oh, that reminds me that you keep talking because there's something I wanted to look up so well to kill time another moment he of killing time. I can't believe Kent Bluckman got away with it. Back in my day, TV stars couldn't say Booby, Tushy Burp, Fanny Burp, water closet, under pinch, dingle dangle, Boston marriage, LBJ, Titty kaka hot Dog, or front lumps funny burb. That is a whole new meaning in Australia that one probably means in America. What I was curious about was actually what constews construes a Boston marriage. Yes, it is actually a According to Boston dot Gov, the term Boston marriage refers to a non traditional domestic relationship between two middle or upper class women. So basically it's a gay marriage. It lesbian. Last yarme as, I can understand why they didn't want you to say on TV. Grandpa was growing up whatever, didn't realize that Boston was such a hotbed of lady love. Boston. Yes, it is there, we go through it, reputation for it. Tell us about it, Mark Boston Burgess. So we have the family here all staring at Grandpa when he says it, and I'm thinking, yeah, I understand that you're you're dragging time out here, but can you just not acknowledge it. It's just it's almost like they was saying to the audience, Yeah, we don't know why we did that either. It was just such filler, Like it wasn't funny. None of these words are really all that funny, really front lumps Maybe No, I don't know. Lisa says, the watchdogs will get him, don't you worry, but says these kind of people don't exist. It almost felt a bit like old men with a gripe this episode, like complaining about, Oh, they're trying to sensor what we're doing. How dare you viewers? You guys have no lives. It's I just come across a bit, a bit of a winge, a little first world problem. Yeah, someway, you wouldn't let me tell me saucy joke. Yeah, because the Flanders and he's got his naughty and nice pile. Obviously the naughty pile is much bigger, certainly is. Yeah, Morley's safe as wearing questionable, questionable pant, crestable plate, your questionable faulting his pants. Yeah, that's right. Yes, And then he says that realizes that Kent Brockman I said that his least favorite word on the public airwaves. And then it got a line here, I'm imploring people I never met to pressure a government with better things to do to punish a man who meant no harm for something nobody ever saw. And I was like, I know that's the joke here, but Flanners would never say this. No one would ever say this. This doesn't work for me. It feels less religiously motivated than it does politically motivated. And one thing we know about Neddy always goes from a position of righteousness, of religious righteousness. Now, I know the two often go hand in hand, or seem to at least, but Yeah, it didn't really feel right coming out of Ned's mouth, and it felt weird having the kids. So I think you need a new mummy. It's weird. Now we've got the new support here, and apparently Brockman hasn't been given the heads up that he's been fired or he's been demoted, because the SEC have the report about him. He's been denoted to weekend weatherman. Then he goes and starts doing the weather. Arnie Pie starts making fun of him, rights that he stinks, and then any Pie takes over the news and announces it, having a different tone of voice when he's reading the Yeah. Now, so it got a ten million dollar fine coming their way as a result of the swearing. Unfortunately, now their dog will not be able to afford the surgery. It's a lazy eye fixed. Yeah. Krust is also making some cutbacks, and we've got the voice actors here. So I was going to do some research, and I forgot. I wonder whether this is when the Simpsons voice actors were complaining that they were getting paid enough wow, and rather than it was like they're sort of Jabbett saying, rather than pay you more, would just replace you? And you really when he can plays voice actors, but you really should. No, not unless it's absolutely necessary. Yeah, for reasons that Yeah, it makes sense, but especially he signed to he's doing itching scratchy voices. He doesn't do a very good job, can't Can we talk? Not fire? Am I? No? No? The station stands by its reporters, say, what's that powder in your coffee? Is it? No, it's splendor, Spare me your slang, push your man, you're fired. Well, I mean he didn't break the two pivotal rules. He didn't whip it out. That's true. Well, that's yeah, don't wear and don't whip it out, which we try to abye by these one of these rules here on four thing discount. Yeah, which one do you break? Well, there's a reason only seen me from this level up. Well, there's only lens wide enough down there, right, he's talking about my stone, talking about the stomach. Lindsay Nagel. Then fire fires him for the cocaine. He takes all these photos off the wall, and then he gets to walk of shame. Everyone's angry at him. It starts raining, his box gets wet, and Nelson says, your distinguished career is over. And I thought there's not really long to go in his episode, and I feel like there's not gonna wrap this up. Yeah, this feels like it should have been the end of the first actor. You should have the end of the first act should have been Brockman losing his job, right, and the remaining the next act should have been him changing his ways. And at the very end, boom, he goes back hat and that should have been the end. Well, it didn't happen. It did not know. Marge says that, so I think it's Homer says he's catched slumpy, and it turns out it's because he's sitting okay, Brocklyn Marges offered him to stay there because she thinks he could be potentially suicidal. And then we get home. This is so on Homer. Liberal media. I think Haveven doesn't know what liberal media is use him for it unless he's been brainwashed by one of the few things that he reads or sees on TV. Yeah, I mean, we know that Homer is easily led, but he couldn't he liberal media. That's not what will be talking about. If you're going to make him a puppet for the right wing misinformation or misinformation. Yeah, it's laid the ground work a little more. I thought Brockmann would have been right wing. I think the fun thing to do with Brockman have him not believe in anything. Yeah, that's probably a better way to be a Mexican. The mouthpiece the Mexican gays have been sneaking to the country and unplugging the brains about our brain dead ladies. He's but he wants an eight y ten from Ken Brockman to put on the wall of casual acquaintances who have come to stay for a while, Ardie Pooh, Krusty, Willie Nelson, Bob Otto, Kang. I want to say which I think it's probably the Kingcutors who have slept with Marge that time to have baby ideas, Gil and Stampy and who sang a song? What are you going to do? Then? Then watching TV and we get the show that you would watch what was it? Strip? Lanny strip? Yeah, fifteen strippers on an airline, and then we get the Fox News liberal outrage, and there's what Lisa points out, how can a Newspepe conservative and have such racy shows? Then he put Fox deliberately run shows that will earn huge fins, funneled funneled through the secge but republican. I'm just like, oh, it's very It's just so obvious, isn't it that there's no sort of there's no clever lines here. It's just here's our thoughts and they're just saying it, saying what we're all thinking. It's a lazy way of getting your point across. Absolutely, it really is. This was probably one of the weakest sad eyes the Simpsons have done in a while. But maybe I don't know, Maybe it's just me like, do you think I don't think there's It wasn't very clever. I think the ideas they were exploring were interesting and certainly for the time, but how they went about it was very much what's the thing is it? Swartzwelder who says, when I do a first draft, I just say, Homer says a joke here, yeah, And I get everything down on paper. I get the basic structure down and then you know, then I get to rewrite, which is the fun part. Yeah, it's like, well they didn't the rewrights, they didn't do it. It's all very first draft. But then Lisa and said, I've got a cameras, go film, you know, a video. It's kind of like they could have been pushing. This is like he could become a viral sensation online because he was a dinosaur on TV. He could become an online sensation. Well this is what we thought the internet would be when it first. Absolutely. Yeah, So Brockman's video about the government news worked together. Good evening, Thank you for inviting me into your laps. Friends. That press and the government are in bed together in an embrace so intimate and wrong they could spown on a twin mattress and still have room for ted couple journalists. You still question the reasons for war and expose abuse of power. Now toothless babies. They suckle on the sugary teat of misinformation and poop it into the diaper we call the six o'clock news. Demand more of your government, demand more of your press. Play meet. This is a wake up call. Vote out your so called representatives, reject your corporate masters, buy nothing, hug your children, love the one you're with. He's getting fans with the with the young people. They like his video. Meanwhile, though the Republican Party are not fans at all, and apparently Crustian Ziaga a thing. Yeah. Well, according to Raini A Wolcastle, yeah, Dracula can't order pieces op enough. That's all gone to and it's just yeah, there wasn't much this episode never gonna lie. So then yeah, the people give Brockets some credit. So he gave him five stars, and they never give anybody five stars? Would they millennials? Do you think? I mean no, because they're that's what I thought they would have been. But it's hard because this is two thousand and seven. Yeah, I guess, yeah, very early millennials, because they're not They don't only feel like generation next, do they? They don't know? You're right, but this is where you know, how wide is the web? How is it? How wide is the web? World? Is what she says. Yeah, yeah, yeah, how wide is the web? This is literally So Brockman becomes a success and is starting to earn the acclaim of people around him, and within like thirty seconds he's gone back it's like, what was what a waste of time? He's starting to gain respect and credibility as a as a newsman. Well, I reckon less than a minute of the episode. And then it's just here's more money, fifercent pay increase a least it close your eyes, and he's off thinking these are all ideas that could have been stretched out of it. Yeah, we didn't need as we didn't need the dentist bit, not for as long as we had it. So you definitely cut out the whole bad thing. Yeah, Lisa is sad now because there's no room for truth and bravery in today's media. And then Homer has some gossip. His hands are shaking and as he's saying what it is, they've obviously put over the obviously put over the top. Fox has been programming shows that the whole family can enjoy. Yeah, they mentioned various shows. Lisa has been dubbed as well. And then the truth is and it's the end credits, and that's the end of the episode. I will say this was actually one of my favorite moments of very good use of the gracie. Hyeah. Yeah, so the ending worked, right. I just thought more time than to be dedicated to the actual story than the setup. Do you think I would agree with you on that point. Yes, I think this would have hit home more that him going back would have been more of a point had he'd been built up this all his acclaim and all this love from doing the right thing and at the drop of had more money. Yes, please, that would have meant more. But what are you gonna do. It's the end of the season. You had a movie to put out, Yes, exactly right. What do we learn bomber mister Davis? What did you learn from the episode that a fun day is a Sunday that's fun? Are they always fun? Though? What's your favorite kind of Sunday? Chocolate, strawberry? You'd be a strawberry I reckon. I have been, on occasion a strawberry guy. Yeah. I mean back when I used to frequent McDonald's and every once in a while that was saying it's going to take eight minutes to cook you on apple pie. Would you like a mcflurry or whatever instead or a Sunday? And I'm like, no, I won an apple part. Yeah, that's why I ordered it. By the way, eight dollar tenders for eight eight tens, eight dollars. Okay, see at the moment, what a deal? What are savings? So when they were would you like a Sunday instead, I'm like, fine, I'll take it. Yeah, what sort strawberry? Be fine? They never mix it anymore, apparently the mcflurries. Really yeah, they still have it like this, mix it all through and now it's just like a soft serve shit chut on toil. Everyone's in a hurry hurry from it's a make hurry rather than mcflurry. I let it takes fifteenth strippers to fly plane fourteen to get it up. I want to get it down. From this day forward, your names will be all right. It is the final edition of the New Name Championship for season eight. Who is going to win? I have no idea, no earthly idea. The winner is phili J. Hawkins twenty points. He can't possibly lose now because Kyle Muld doing clever Kyle is in second position on sixteen points. Actually no, no, no, no, no, no, I've I've missed it. Here here we go. I apologize. Philip J. Hawkins is on twenty eight points. Carle while doing the seconds on seventeen points. He really you can't win this and Luke McKay's in third position on sixteen points. Hit me, mister Davis, what have we got this week? Okay? Then one point goes to don't brock the boat right the book baby, that's David Mott while done that ends his season on six points on not bad okay, two points It goes to brock bottom Adam Moorehouse again with the two points. Well on Adam and Adam ends this season on nine points their fifth position. I believe fantastic. Three points goes too. You can't handle the truth. You gotta say it the right way. Though you can't handle the truth, say the right way weren't the right way? That's Clever Carle So he ends the season on twenty points, so outright second. So Philip J. Horgan's twenty eight points our winner once again, I think? Is that back to back? Is it the three pa? Maybe a three p' again? Who knows? You wins it every year? Clever Kyle in second position on twenty points and Luke McKay in third position on sixteen points. Congratulations to every one of those people, especially Phillip J. I. Thank you everyone who is entering, everyone who's entered yeah, we really appreciate it. We as you know, it's done blind, not looking at names, looking at new names. I gather up all the names and I send him to Guy and he just picks him out. I say, which one did Philip gen do put an asterisk next to it? I think you're really like this one. But yeah, So next week we'll be doing the wild card draw maybe whenever we do another. Are we gonna any season wrap up? We usually do, and we'll do the wild card draw there as well. So if your name has been read out at least once this season, your name will be potentially drawn out next week in the wild card draw for a bonus. Probably j Horgan's what again he won the world out of the ukins. Do we have any mail bag questions? That is? That is the question I did put up the Yeah you did. Yeah, I'm looking at it right here. All right, So here we go. Let's go to all comments as opposed to top first question. Oh it's Ben Lyons or Andrew JP. Be fuman about that one. He says, what's the worst person either of you have had to interview? There's a band from the UK, I believe called Maybe even in the States, called yuck. Right, I'm not sure they're in a band anymore, but I really liked them at the time. I like that I was sort of comparing early Pixies stuff like, I really really dug them. And I got the singer on the line and it was clear he was just drugged out of his mind and I'll be asking a question, and I remember I was really excited for it too, because I really liked their music and I had so many questions lined up just from a genuine fan perspective, and he's just going, yeah, I don't know, yeah, yeah. It was this for writing over the radio, and I could I can never use I've kept the audio, bu can never use it. I was just there there. It was literally asked his questions. He go uh huh, and that's it. Yeah, boy, I think the most of good Adam was maybe three or four words at a time. It was just it was fucking horrific. It was the original singer of the band yuck. So you've go into my day, sir, for shame. Yeah, So that was that was not fun. Worst person you've had to interview. I had a similar situation with an actor. I'm not sure if I should name them probably, I probably haven't set it was screen star Jamie Kennedy. You've actually mentioned this, but I don't think you mentioned his name untill now. On the end. Well, he was promoting some project and he was under the influence of something. Whether it was a substance or just bad vibes, I could not use it. He was as in like he was mean. No, he was incoherent. Yeah, yeah, when it came to unpleasant people that have been interviewed, and maybe these people were just having a bad day as well. The Australian singer songwriter Deborah Conway, she had the song It's Only the Beginning. She's been around for quite a while. I interviewed her once and she was just mean to me. Really, was she the one to at fourteen? Yes? Yeah, he said you want at fourteen once and she was a real cow. She was quite mean to me. Hey motherfucker, she wrote, Hey, motherfucker. Maybe the saddest was and this is a very deep cut Austraian music reference. There was a band in the eighties called Matt Finish and they had Matt Finish. Matt Finish. I forgot that the lead singer and frontman's name was Matt Something, but the band was called Matt Finish. They had an album and the title track of the album was called was a song called short Note, which I really loved. It was one of my favorite Australian songs in the eighties. And the time came when I go to any this guy and he was just prick. He was just in a really bad mood and took it out on me, and I'm like, man, man, fuck you. Well what you said? No, of course not, but I like to think that that was coming through and what I was saying. I told the Bob gel Loof story. I've told the Bob Girlof story so many times. I'm sure I have told the story. I can't remember what happens though. Well, basically, yes, I was interviewing Bob Geldoff for one of his solo albums, the solo album which no One gives a fuck about. No one gave a fuck, someone absolute gave a fuck because we did not get it at the at the office. It either came and was taken or it never arrived and is now in the in the before times, was like, I can't hear it streaming. No, I needed the actual hard copy, didn't get it. Did my research anyway, was really diligent about reading everything I could about it, reading other articles, and doing a lot of research about his other work and everything like that. So I went in with it. I thought it was pretty god sweet queer, but also it was a rookie. And I let him know, Bobby, you've clearly got a big fan at the fort outs, because look someone you told him that. I told him, no, we haven't got haven't a chance to listening to him. What the fuck are you doing? Then I also rattled that, Yeah, like, as I've said, I'm pretty sure I imitated imitated his accent to his face. You did, Oh yeah, I wouldn't. I mean not taking the pairs out of It's sort of like, oh, it's like the time when you did your sets, only like that. I think he probably looked at me like I was just were you doing it in person? Oh yeah, Oh, man's even worse. Oh no, it's like you look at it like I was like a trailed dog, shit in on my shoes or something. Tough times. Tough times for a rookie footage of this. Oh god, no, okay, man, I wish I was. You've only got my word for it. Would you ever be able to watch that again if there was footage? Oh no, no, but that didn't listen to it made him aware that you didn't listen to his music. Not by your choice obviously, but still you have listened to it and then you accident. Yep, yep, this is what happened. How did the interview end with getting out there as quickly as possible? What did you tell Forte h Q when you got back? I mean, I had stuff on the record, so I turned it into a story, and I think I probably was very self deprecating about and saying, you know, I never meet your heroes kids along those lines. That's great, all right. So that is the end of season eighteen. We've done it. We made it. No more questions. Oh no, there's more questions. Yeah, that was so much fun. It was well go out in the high note. JP would be fumtive. Now asked this question, So, JP, have you ever sworn in public when you didn't mean to? Oh? I always mean to the nice guys. I've seen that one with the Ling and Russell. We mentioned it on the podcast. You know, Golden is trying to wrangle these all these kids at his teenage daughter's birthday party and Jesus Christ, one of the girls you took the lord's name and you know, took the lord's name in vain and said wasn't invained at all. I meant every word said, but one time I mentioned the podcast where I was called Nikola, So don't be a wanker. We're playing cards with their family in the UK, and that was a big no no, the first of one I met a family in Wayanker not a good word in the UK. So I get the feeling I may have dropped the sea bomb speaking to my dad once, but saying I said it so quickly that it could easily been mistaken for something else. All but Bobby's like a mulligan, like the one through. Yeah, that's the whole past. Yes, Sam, Pappas Papas Papas. I've seen The Simpsons and a few of the series so many times, and I know the gestures and the character's lines before the character does it or says it. Is there a TV series that you've seen so that you already know the joke punchline? Yeah, I'm like that, I guess with I want to say Nickol like the Friends, I'm like that was Seinfeld. I guess now I would certainly, maybe not necessarily the entire run of the series, but like particular episodes that oh yeah, absolutely yeah. I mean we talk about it all the time when we talk about certain episodes of the sense, Oh this line is from that, and certainly from South Park as well. Yeah, yeah, south Park's a big one, yeah, Tilli Enriquez. Out of the various smart line appearances from The Simpsons, what is the most annoying and best in your opinion? Were the best one by far is when the cat Burglar calls up? Do you know who? This is the worst one. We would have to be this one, right according to Dan though, absolutely what's the one where he says we'll be right back? Is that that one? So he says that at the end of the Trios of Horror six, where the attack of the fifty for Iyesaws destroy the house and everything kept Brock was doing, lock up your doors whatever, and then that's when hom goes, we'll be right back at the that's my life. I don't I think this must he must do it twice, because he doesn't say at the end there, but I think he might say in the one where the Christmas tree gets burned down. Okay, we does say that's my line in one of the I just yeah, love Homer journal We'll be right bad. But he might do it in that vigil Anti episode as well. I don't know, Harrison mcclu A final question here, are there any noteworthy reporters or journalists that you admire? There you go, that's one for you. Oh gosh, well with me. See, with news reporters, there's the familiar faces that just make it feel like it's comforting, you know, like Peter Hitchner. Yeah, I've always grown up with Peter Hitcher. He's like he's the voice of the news. Yeah. I think there are certain people, particularly when you're young, but just have the air of authority. I'm sure. I've said in the past that Channel nine used to have a guy named Brian Naylor who was the news reader, and they pitched their whole campaign that jingle Yeah I know everything I need to know because Brian told me so. It's like, oh, yeah, you can trust bright now. Wasn't he like that? Men want to be him, want to be with him kind of guy? A bit like that. He was one of those guys who'd been around forever. So he was probably a good looking roost when he was a young man and then just aged into like, oh like he can trust he can put shells on the wall. That's correct. Yeah, sad, I think he might have died in a Boh that's tragic. Yeah, that is set. Just confirm that that is that he's still alive and Kingan. I think he died in in a fire. Brian Naylor. Okay, here we go, says was so he has passed away. Let's go to the old Wikipedia down the bottom. His son Matthew, was killed in a plane crash at king Leaf, Victoria in age forty one. Less than a year later, in two thousand and nine, our and his wife were killed as one of the Black Saturday bushfires destroy their property. Jesus, why do you bring that up? Sorry man, Let me talking about other journalists that ill him were also dead but rest in peace. Brian Naylor, Oh yeah, absolutely no. Pivotal part of my childhood. I think I had my political reporters. Well they always seem to have a really like real gravitas. Ray Martin was for me when I was a kid. I got my can I tell my Ray Martin story. It's not really much of a story, that's and the show Let's Go. Ray Martin was always well. He also hosted that show a Current Affair that I mentioned earlier, and that's what I know him from. Yeah, and it seemed like, oh, you were a legit journalist some stage and now you're just a you're doing a Brockman. Yeah. I think he was hosting like an afternoon chat show and all that kind of thing. Simply a guy that wouldn't funk about though, Like he knows his ship and if you try and challenge him, he'll he'll break you down, that's the thing. But he had a very kind of nice, nice guy to meet. Yeah, I was on a work assignment that took me to Ula Root Airs Rock it was and Ray mart was hosting the show called This is Your Wife. He probably did that at some stage as well. Mike Munroe. This was a show where they took it was for SBS and they took a bunch of of white celebrities and sort of semi high profile people around Indigenous Australia and sort of showed what was going on Indigenous Australia and it started it all a room and Ray was the host and we went out before we sort of had the big media there. The next day we went out for dinner and he was telling all these stories about when he was like a young journal in New York and he was hanging out with the fucking Black Panthers, all this really great stuff, and he was just an incredible rack on tour. But also, yeah, I'd clearly done a lot of stuff and quote unquote seen some shit. I was like, now you're doing today tonight. It was a kind of fair. Yeah. Yeah. Part of me is like, but I couldn't begrudge the guy getting a paid the same time, I was like, oh man, yeah, you're a legit. Yeah, I wonder if he'd definitely And he also dropped a few swears, and there was like, wow, I can't believe Ray swearing. I was gonna say, certainly kind of guy that have like a Christmas tape of bl I love those Christmas tapes. We talk about that a bit, but I love them. Just one final thing, remember name me Robinson got the audio elite of her. Yeah, I remember when I was a kid out a massive crush on her. She was so hot, but she was tough as nails, as well, yeah, oh, you wouldn't want to messed with her. No, not at all anyway, showing news reporters. That is our review. By the way, guys, oh, if you can't always say what you want. That's the end of season eighteen. We finally made it all the way through. So I can't believe we've got through eight Well, I've been here eighteen seasons of the show now, A lot of strange trip it's been. Let's have a look Simpsons Sea nineteen. I should say season nineteen kicks off with scroll to the bottom here. How many episodes in the seasons of twenty two? There is only twenty in this season apparently, Well, this season has that ninety show, a very divisive episode that our man Matt Salmon, friend of the pod, wrote the episode people don't like it. I remember enjoying it. But the first episode is called he Loves to Fly and he does. After a trip on mister Burns's private plane, Homer enlists the aid of a life coach guest's voice Stephen Colbert to help him find a job that allows him to use a corporate jet. Okay, episode one of season nineteen. That sounds like a very thin premise to an episode, but we'll see, we shall see. Indeed, the movie is finished by this point, so hopefully they've got more time to focus on actual storytelling and ganinny of the episodes. But overall, though, just a little bit of tease for the next you know, the end of season wrap up. I don't think season eighteen was as bad as I was expecting. I'm gonna be honest. It had some stinkers, but it wasn't overall I was expecting the dirt worst. It wasn't that bad. Many people are saying this, and you have said this frequently throughout the course of us reviewing this season. Better than I expected. It is. People seem to have a lot of bad memories of this season, which is like, remember the first episode with the Muk, the chef and the wife from the Homer where he becomes the friend of the fat Tony his son. That was a good episode. Jays in the Pusscats, that was another good episode, the margin having doing the carpentry. I enjoyed that episode. So there's good episodes in there, and we will get through our top five each favorite episodes on our end of season review coming up here on fourfing a discount next week. You're going to be hearing me discussing who shot mister Burns Parts one and two with our pals at Cherberder podcast over in the UK. They joined me there and I recorded that at about four forty five five am this morning, so I'm pretty tired. That was a hell of a good time. So that will be next week's episode of fourfing a Discounts and next classic Review. We will throw up a pole on our Patreon for our supporters to vote which next classic review.
