M Tuesday. Maybe the twenty four, twenty sixteen. That's what they it is here on the Giant podcast, keep going. I like your song. That's all I got. Oh all right, it just repeats that for three and a half minutes. All right, I Drew, I smell a hit Drew. Just put it on a loop sample that ship. I mean, can we do that yet? I can? I can know it's it's okay, I mean I can. All right, Okay, al right, well that's that's no. But I mean, now, maybe if you take that drill that's in front of you and hold that up to your microphone for like an extra a little yeah, there you go. Now okay, now I'm into it. Give a part appen. We just need to work at delay pedal and some wan thing and we're gonna be this yeah oh yeah yeah, do the drillstruction. I don't know. Yeah, that works. That works shockingly well. The wine of the drill is actually killing me. Now okay, that's all we got. I can't do anymore. Oh, thank god, Giant bobcast let's go hello, yeah, yeah, three weeks till three Really, I think, isn't that right? That sounds that sounds right? I think three weeks from this moment, we will be probably on our way to the show floor. I think yeah, it'll be the between between whatever weird Zelda stream Nintendo does and the show opening. Oh yeah yeah at this moment, man Zelda Sunday, No, that's Tuesday. Oh okay, Nintendo's traditional like ass early nine o'clock slot. Yeah, it's now just them press coming Zelda all day long or something. Oh right, okay, is there any weird like Potesta Sunday thing? Yeah, like, oh god, that it gets day the press conference, like the E the three creep is in full swing. Like every year it gets earlier and earlier, you know, like it getting emails, you know, things like hey, we're not at E three, but are we still eligible for E three awards? Right, Like, oh weird? No, I guess not. I don't every matter. Everything used to start on Tuesdays, and then a few years ago it started moving up to Mondays, and then last year it moved up to Sunday night yep, and now it starts it it's like Sunday one pm. Yeah. Soon we'll just have like we have a room for two weeks straight for live streams and stuff, and by and by that I mean soon there will be no E three, so also possibly that that's that's the plan again this year. We're gonna stream the press conferences, talk over them, yeah, and then have our regular night late show. Yeah. Yeah, we're gonna talk over eight hours of Zelda. No okay, No, I was inclined to not do anything with that. I want Brad. Brad kind of convinced me that maybe we should. Yeah that watch a lot of it. Look at like the first hour of Yeah, that's all I need to see. I need to see about an hour of that. Good. I kind of don't need to see like I mean, they'll be playable the show, right, So yeah, I want to mess with whatever demo they've got for a little bit. But I don't need to see a new legend of Zelda game to know that I want to. I'm curious about it. Of course we're all going to play it, but mainly because they've been talking such a big game about I would like to hear changing it up. Yeah, I would much rather hear them explain what they think that game is exactly and in their time it's supposed to just like here it is, and have them play it like that's not that's not interesting to me. It's a board game, okay, all right, all right, it's Kickstarter MBO exclusive. Oh yeah, how many turns only? Wow, that's why the streams like eight hours long. Okay, that takes them. It takes them that long to suffer through one match. At the end, everyone will just murder themselves on stream. Yes, wow. In classic Nintendo board game minigame fashion, nobody wins. That's a slow death. Yeah, too slow. Jeff, you were in La last week. I was, yeah, speaking of everyone killing themselves, right, Yeah. Southern California a great place to make you realize that, like, oh man, this place is terrible. How was that? I don't know, Well, I guess you can't really talk about specifics of what you were doing down there. I mean, yeah, to build up to the show has begun in earnest so oh sure, I guess. Yeah, for the day and a half I was down there, that was yeah, the thing that used to be a weak right right. So I don't know. I'm of two minds about E three. Either it's full of surprises because they didn't show anything to press off ahead of time, or it might be kind of thin surprise. Or a mix of both. Yeah, I think it'll depend on the company. You know, it is so weird this year with the way things are going. But you know they did finally just announce their their public events, yes, which you know was was disgusted by a little bit by some people that knew about it. Wasn't when I was down there, But yeah, just I don't know, man, video games are weird. Three E three is going to be in China in three years anyway, so like what does it matter. We'll be all be like the parking lot in front of Shanghai Disney, Yeah, playing mobile games and reporting back, So I wouldn't worry too much. Yeah, at least we have the geographical advantage here. You know, it's like it's a pretty easy drive or an hour and a half flight down there. I feel for people coming from from elsewhere, Oh yeah, but whatever, they'd still get, you know, like whatever, there are still there will be games to see three There There will be things things there and all we've got appointment invites sitting in inboxes. Have some cool sounding games and some that just say unannounced game number. Also plenty of that say like just sequel to Triple A franchise, Like, wow, really, well, you haven't made one of those in two years. I wonder if it'll be that Yeah right, yeah, yes kind of so yeah, I don't know, there's uh yeah, in terms of years past, like knowledge gained prior to the show, I would say it is at an all time low. Yeah. I think that's probably accurate. But there are you know, like knowing a few things about some of the games that will be announced to E three, Like yeah, there there will be some stuff there, but yeah, you know whatever, it's the show is always has increasingly become about the press conferences, and I think that will end up being you know, the case here as well. Yeah, we've seen the shifts kind of going that way. Yeah, and we appreciate that as well. Like I kind of want to, you know, just have it a big internet E three day. You know, we just watched press conferences, We watched trailers. Yeah, when was the last time any of us went to any of the Big three press conferences in person? Years ago? We're going been talking over this stuff for two years. Yeah, yeah, so I guess three years ago we were still going to all those things. It's so much better not going to them. Oh, I'd love going to them. I mean, yeah, I'm with you. Fun, but like at first covering it, you don't get any advantages like I've done the laptop, like sitting in the things of a row. That's a bad way to that is completely obsolete. But you're right, like going there in person gets as nothing content right, like like you get to say you were there and talk about it later in terms of just like well, you know, people. It seemed like all the cheers were coming from the back where the people who worked for the company were sitting, like that's information you don't get watched and trying to put up shot the pre show music, putting up stories from that thing. That's just that's poor organization on whoever assigned you to doing that, because that should be like someone watching a stream with a laptop writing it there. It's usually people like sitting next to me in the row like oh yeah, trying to get on Wi Fi like in whatever theater the center, not how you do that. That is not how we have done that for like a decade or more. I wanted to call dude, I yeah, I want to say it was the big Halo two thing that Microsoft did. I was sitting there with you know, the video card and the laptop on edge trying. I was like literally in our CMS writing an article about it at the press cons like, you know, that's not worst, That's not the way to do that. Nope. And then of course we have not gotten the most important decision making done yet, which is what the hell kind of food are we going to get in that room? For? Sliders were okay, the sliders were fine. This seems like an impossible task somehow, Yeah, trying to to get like, okay, we need enough like finger food type stuff for the guests that we're bringing in for the nighttime show, but also like the it's it sounds like super fucking pompous and shitty, but like the actual reality of it is like we actually do need to eat some kind of food at some point during the day, and so it's usually like I like, how it's gone for me is I wake up in the morning, I eat two of the granola bars I've brought with me from home, go do all of the three, and then hope that there's some kind of food between the end of the three and the start of our nighttime show. Last year, that was dodgy at best, So we're trying to get that to be slightly better. Cheeseburgers at the convention Center are and always have been awesome. I've never had times so good. I've never like that. What is that? Is that? That? What is it? The galaxy space space whatever? Yeah? Yeah, if you every year go eat cheeseburgers again, whoever is in charge of your schedule, it is doing a bad cheese brought in. I have been to god teeny threes at that convention Center and I've never sat down in that cafe to eat it. I usually get it and then go back to the booth and write stuff. But like, yeah, I just get a bunch of nacho cheese. Well I just walked past it to see the line and go, this is stupid. Yeah. Well, if not always that, I mean to be fair. Game spot got pretty good. They they would bring they would bring food, and getting food brought into the booth was a pretty big thing. Well, lately in recent years they've had the like food truck court in between the halls, which is really nice. That's really good food trucks out there. No, I actually think that's really terrible because I have to run past all that shit over and over again to get went to my next appointment. Shortcut. Oh man, looking all that food that looks all right, that's really good, but I don't the real cheese thing is really really good. That outside concourse is the secret best shortcut between the halls. Yea, yeah, yeah. Now it's just clogged with people trying to get taco and rock band tends now yeah yeah, and then now it's clogged with people trying to vape. Yes also that yeah, anyway, not illegal now, that's why it's outside. We're working on there, just making illegal across the boarder, running from the law. I mean, I guess I rather have people out there vaping than smoking cigarettes as I run through there. I guess that's for sure. So yeah, yeah E three's coming again, and that's cool. There's a lot of it. Yeah, but whatever, there are there are good games out right now. Yah, cancel E three and let's just play video games instead the games, Like that's something I could get into. There's a lot of good games coming out. Yeah, there's one game that we should talk about, oh god, you guys, Doom. And then there's we have to have and then there's a game that I want to talk about what we talked about it last week. I wasn't want to talk about it. I had to go do stuff last week in the middle of me playing Doom that oh god, right, you would have had to interrupt your dooming to fly to another city. I was frantically trying to finish Doom Sunday night and then like because I had to fly out Monday morning, and I got to basically the chapter before the last chapter, and I was like, Okay, I have to I have to go to sleep, I have to pack, I have like do actual things and go to Los Angeles. I can't. I have to stop playing this game right now, did you I did? Yeah? I had to, you know. It was just like literally like there, okay, I mean I have to get up and drive to the airport. It will be in traffic, it'll that'll suck, Like it will not be safe if I play anymore of this game. So I've gotten pretty good at doing that, but man, I would have much rather just finished. So yeah. So I went down there, you know, to see other games and stuff in the context of being very close to the end of Doom, and it was really great having a lot of lengthy conversations about how great Doom is with people down there. Yeah, and and then get back and like finish it. I got I got back Wednesday and drove home and finished just immediately back to pretty much a little spring in your step. Yeah, like, all right, let's get back here, take care of Doom. Uh, handle some other business and then and then finished Doom. Has anybody besides me and Jeff finished it here? I don't think I'm in hell now. Yeah, well, I think Dan and I that could meet a number of things. But well, I mean probably I feel like I'm probably midway through it. I played some last night, got to hell. It seemed like there was gonna be a boss fight and there wasn't. And I went through a portal thing. Okay, if that clears it up at all. Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm not gonna I'm not gonna nod or frown or say anything that tells you anything about the rest of Doom. But okay, that's fine, But I'm working on what you're at. I'll probably have a beat by the weekend. Yeah. Uh, I'm delighted to hear that there are like that you are concerned about saying too much dooms great? There are there are things that happen along the way in Doom that are are fun to see. That's not to say that it is some like story heavy game, but it's got stuff. But it's got stuff. There's a surprising number of like amazing reveals and just like things that happen to make you very happy. But what I mean, you know, removed from that stuff, Like yeah, like just what a phenomenal campaign. It's so good it I know, I said that eighteen times last weeks. It has like like retroactively made me dislike other shooter campaigns I've played over the last four or five years. Absolutely because it is so smartly constructed and well designed, and they'd so carefully pluck the things from old Doom that they want to try to preserve or enhance, but don't do that in a way that makes it feel like this new old game or anything like that. Like it feels like a very modern game, like it integrates that stuff seamlessly. They have thrown away the stuff that wouldn't make sense in a in a modern shooter. They have pulled forward things that you you know that you didn't even know you wanted from the original game, and and added new systems and stuff that are like intelligently designed in a way that that like makes it like the Glory kill kind of health recovery system, the chainsaw ammo recovery ra system like stuff that makes it a more active game in a way that Doom sort of always was, uh while still kind of giving you outs and giving you options and giving you things to do and things to think about, in a way that like, you know, maybe original Doom didn't uh at least not to that extent, or you have fewer options, have fewer options. The options were don't get shot right. The options were run back and pick up health and try to get through it without doing whereas this is like, okay, you know now my option is like, okay, I'm gonna run here, chainsaw this thing. We're gonna make a bunch amo spit out. Then I'll have enough ammo to switch to this weapon and do this. Like I was, just I was constantly switching between pretty much all of the weapons, Like I had a few that I would rely on to like start a battle. But because of the amount of AMMO you get and you know, you increased over time, but it still never feels like infinite ammo. It just it forces you to kind of play around with it and and play around with a lot of the different weapons, and and care about the different weapons in a way that I'd probably didn't even care about in the original Doom Them. Yeah, and there are so many things that feed into that variety, like the way the weapon challenges work right, Like it encourages you to switch different weapons to upgrade those weapons and then upgrade the runs and stuff, so that switching runs around. Also, like I found I found a lot of like weapon and enemy pairings that I liked a lot, Like uh, like every time I making this would show up, I went to the charge gaps right totally to the head, like act that's the way. That is the way to kill those things. And then when they die and they like you don't always get it, but once in a while when you get the death animation where the torso explodes but the head is still sitting there on the top of the spine, weaving back and forth like a flagpole, and oh my god, Yeah, it's it's like ridiculous, you know, yeah, Like the gore is ridiculous enough to like be funny as opposed to like they didn't go out of their way to make like some super dark, serious Doom rip and tear, you know, like they didn't make like nothing about this game takes itself all the way serious. Yeah, Like they didn't make Doom as a sequel to Spawn or some bullshit. You know, it doesn't feel like some nineties ass thing that's like, look at how serious this murder is, Like that would be super stupid. Like they they approached it with a sense of humor. I think that really serves it surprisingly well. Yeah, and that goes across the gameplay and story. Just like a lot of different things about that game feel lighthearted for a game that it has so much straight up murdering in it. I think that the darkest stuff about that game is the stuff that references like sort of corporate obeisance of employees and stuff like that. Like you're coming across like pages from the employee handbook that tell you how to give yourself over willingly to a demon so they will workplace, or so that your workstation doesn't get fucked up, right, so the company doesn't lose assets company assets when you go, or we can study your body after a demon kills you. So just just I mean, don't fight because it'll it'll shred your body and then you won't be able to It's it's amazing. Yeah. There yeah, a lot of really great bits of dialogue, and they made all the story stuff, like all the codex entry is worth reading absolutely in the shopping in a way that is just like they make the concept of having a character named doom Marine actually makes sense. Yeah, and be like gleefully like kind of amazing, like like the number of times that the word doom comes up in the Yeah, the dialogue is incredible, but like, you know, but it's it's really you know, for me, it's like the encounter design and and just a lot of the you know, you walk into combat and it starts, and then just routinely I would finish a section and just go like, man, that was fucking awesome. Yeah, and just come away from it feeling like so good about the thing that just happened. Sometimes barely alive. Yeah, it's just I murdered all of those people. This is great and it gives you time to breathe after. Yeah. Yeah, is really good. Yeah. It's because you're not fighting constantly sometimes you're looking for stuff. It feels very fair. Uh, you know, you feel very in control. I played it on PC and it maybe want to play it with a mouse and keyboard, which I haven't felt about a shooter campaign and pretty long. Yeah, like I I got through it fine on on the PS four, but numerous times where I was like, well, I totally wouldn't nailed that headshot if I had a like it. Yeah, if you can play it on like I was, you know, like it has like the weapon wheel thing. You can still call it up on PC. But who I was hitting the numbers are right there, Yeah, like I can just hit the numbers and you know some of them were just like what super shotguns on like seven or eight or something. Yeah, because the order you're getting weapons and it seems to matter, right, so you know there's kind of a little bit of that. But you hit five, you get what you think you should get. Yes, Okay, it happens, all right, it's good. Good. It's an game. Uh, it's an ID game, I guess. Actually maybe that's the like weirdly so like weird yes, uh in a way that I think, you know, well, Wolfenstein was not an ID game a but also Wolfenstein felt like way more of a new thing that was pulling from what Wolfenstein was, and it was great in its own right, but this feels like a little more devoted to its source material a way that I think makes perfect sense. Yeah, Wolfenstein had a lot of like stealth and melee focus that was not and I mean, you know, like the New Order felt like I felt like Wolfenstein has filtered through like the Starbreeze like tone, and like yeah, yeah, and and that's cool and it is. That's a really cool game, and they did some amazing things when making that, uh, to try to make it, you know, still referential to Wolfenstein, but here's not some game that you're gonna go like this is a crap game for babies to play in nineteen ninety one or whatever. Like they they actually make it matter, and Doom makes it matter. But I think Doom also does a better job of speaking to the reasons why people liked Doom in the first place. And I came out of that thing going like, man, and this is like a weird thing. And the more I think about it, the more I think maybe I'm crazy, But then I think like, no, maybe I'm not. I really want a new Quake now, dude. Yeah, all I can think about after this was over, it was Okay, what's gonna happen next? And like there's been a headline going around like, oh, it is hiring. I'm sure you saw this some job listings that apparently mentioned Quake. But but it's but it's very vague, like you know, like if you want to come join the studio that then it made, and you know, like it's very much like legacy of ID type stuff. It's not it's not weird hiring for a new Quake project. But yeah, like because they're working on Rage two obviously clearly, yeah, that's the one, that's the one fight. But but yeah, like that raises the question of what that would be and if it's anything other than a reboot of Quake one, I don't want it. Like yeah, I think I think you're right. I think you're absolutely right, like like a hundred, Like the absolute wrong thing to do is to follow up the Quake two Quake four, like the Space Zombie Strong, the Strong stuff like Quake four. I don't think it's a great game. Uh, And I think that they shouldn't have shown the Strong vacation process as part of their preview tours before the game's released. Yeah, because that was kind of the one thing that campaign had going for it. Yeah. Uh, but it's it's a little just a little you trite, you know, like like cyborg space monsters like for one thing that's a little too close to doom. But also I think, like you know, like if you if you go for what, Quake one really was trying to be about that kind of love crafty and sort of thing like other you know, Blood Barn like like other games have tapped into that better this sense, Yeah, in a way that I don't know that like Quake One, like like what I don't know that I want that. Well, if you get in there and really look at it. I mean there's also some like gothic medieval stuff with like knights with swords, and there's some kind of modern military like the Slipgate stuff. If you read the whole like three paragraphs of text that that game had as a story, yeah, that's all modern military stuff. Right. It's a weird mess that there's a direct result of like how much strife was going on within it when it was made, right Yeah, but it's a beautiful mess, right Yeah. And you know, and that game was a time and a place and that was a technology that we hadn't seen, uh, you know, and and the way it handled multiplayer. And then you know, after a Quake World came along, like they made that game sort of playable on of modem. But that's the sort of stuff that like doesn't matter now, like that's really cool, as like, you know, let's tell our old man stories about what it was like to play Quake before broadband penetration was high enough. Best. No, it was not. I mean it sucked, but it felt pretty good when you came in first on a server on your twenty eight eight, Yeah, totally, when you're pretty awesome. When you got good at playing on a modem, Yeah, it felt like the baddest ass shit ever I could. I could lead Rockets pretty well with it. But then I got my job at game Spot and came in and they were playing on a land and I was like, oh wait, it's actually And then I got a cable modem and it was just like, well, this is fucking clearly the way to play all video games ever. And then Quake three Dreamcast happened. It was the most awful hals versus oh my god, it was the best. It was the best quick three for Dreamcast is canonically the best worst version of that game because it's supported mouse and keyboard which no one owned, and supported the broadband adapter, which no one owned. So it was like the vast majority of players were not only playing on dial up, it was dial up on a fucking Dreamcast, and they were playing with a controller. And so you're sitting there with a Dreamcast mouse and keyboard with a broadband adapt Yeah, and also yes, not a dual analogue. Just fucking these people up. It was the best. Still got that John Karmack auto autograph Dreamcast. Just like Forever Dumb. It's pretty good. Yeah, it's it's it is like really a phenomenal game, and I can't really speak to how well it would do, but it seems like like people who do not have any reverence for original Doom are still coming away from it like satisfied. I've got no end of comments from people saying, yeah, like I never played Doom back in the day, and this is still an incredible game. It's just it's refreshing, like taking into modern contact. It's it's refreshing you think about. And I was talking to one Greg Kassavan about this game earlier last week and uh, and yeah, it was just that that thing of like it you think about the the most frequent action you take in most modern shooters, it's fucking hide and wait for your health to regenerate. Yep. And this game is, you know, very much like go out there and get your health back. Also, reloading is something you do a lot, sure, yeah, hide behind a box to reload your health, whereas this game is like, if you want more Ammo and more health, go out there and get it, which is like I mean, in some ways, it's almost like a Blood Born esque approach to like, hey, you just got hit, go get your health back. It can take it out of this guy's ass or the meter drains, uh, which I think is you know, like that's that ended up being a really cool system in Blood Born. I thought, yeah, you know, yeah, active action, I think is the thing that that game does that they're shooter campaigns, don't. I find myself moving forward like way murder yet walking towards enemies is going yeah, I'm going to murder everyone if I don't kill them on the first pass, you know what, I'm gonna keep walking around in that circle and I'm gonna shoot the ship that's because you can, you know, you've got the mobility to joke around them and jump up higher and double jump over them. Once you get that upgrade of these pinky demons, you're just like I'm just hopping over them and shooting rockets at them as I'm going over them, double jumping over a guy triggering the glory kill the shotgun and then and and engaging it before you hit the ground, like in one fluid motion. This feels better than like any shooter I've played in like ten years. Yeah, it's it's really great. It's how they do it, man, I don't know. I don't know. They took forever, They made a game halfway and scrapped it and started over. Like you know, it's it's yeah. You look at like who is ID now? You know? And and the people right I guess so yeah, because the names of people in the credits, like it's like Kevin Cloud, like you recognize the names or four people. But when you think of the old days, yeah, the old days of ID and you knew everyone's name and you know, you were fingering their plan files other stuff, like you know, that's there are not many people, uh recognizable people on the list, but whatever, like they they did a fantastic job with a seemingly impossible task. It's it's it is like such an anomaly that I'm still baffled by it. Yeah, it's it's really it's a it's a real eye opener. You know. You look at it and you're like, man, this is like a you know, but I don't know how applicable it is, like like lessons learned on this to like what, you know, could another game reboot based on how well Doomed did? Like do you go green light something else? Like I don't know that there are that many things you could learn from it because it's so specific to that case and so specific to Doom Yeah, like gameplay things like you wouldn't take like a modern military shooter and make it like okay, now you don't reload, Like I just don't see a lot of games doing that. Yeah, but also like people aren't necessarily making modern militis or even just like College Duty or you know a series like that that have been based on reloading, and generally I would love to. I am very eager to see what that game is, given that they are going full future, because I mean I guess they could totally change things up this time. They could, I mean I doubt they doubt though I doubt they will because so many of those rules feel etched in stone, and because they put out one every year, even with it being different studios, you knows, every three years, you know, it doesn't seem like that there's time to marinate on what is this thing we're making? Yeah? What is this thing that these three studios as Core Studios and then Raven and all these other assist teams and stuff that work on the games as well, Like, does anyone ever really have time to take a breather, even on a three year cycle and sit down and go, what the fuck are we doing beyond like well, let's go to the future. I don't know. And I'm sure obviously, I'm sure they spent more time thinking about it than that, but yeah, I don't know. The Doom feels considered, Its actions feel deliberate, and it really benefits from from that vibe in a way that like, you know, I don't know, the call of duty could have because they put one out of a year, you know, you don't have you can't sit there and take it like, well, let's take twenty years off and then really think about what Call of Duty means, and they try a bunch of games that are sort of like it in the in the wake, and then come back and show them how it's done. Yeah, it's I don't know. They try to find some hook with Call of Duty to make each one unique, whether it's like then an exo suit or a different time period or something, but nothing, you know, makes it feel as unique as Doom does as far as just changing the entire way you play a first person shooter campaign. It just it feels true to its health and not as if it was chasing like popular. But also I would say that we're you know, we're leaving out the part where the multiplayer and Doom does kind of feel like it's chasing to modern shooters in a way that the campaign does not. Yeah, and that's the weird thing is like you look at the campaign and like every like awesome, amazing decision that got made on the campaign, it feels like it felt like the multiplayer they made the exact opposite and just went like, well, let's take this, let's do this modern stuff, let's pull this modern thing in, let's let's have a domination mode and the weapons two weapons and like all the stuff that we think of when we think about modern shooters, and it's still not fast enough. Like when you think about Doom, you think about this the high speed at which it operates. Yeah, it's faster than the average shooter, but not in the way you want. Well, especially because you know, like you you can tag a guy three or four times with the rocket and he doesn't go down exactly certain although I've direct hits two fifty five damas, so two rockets should actually kill someone, But yeah, it doesn't feel right. They've always got extra health or armor. But I will say I warmed up to it a little bit since I posted the review from playing some more of it, like mainly because you get a little bit of that rocket ballet from like Old Quake, you know, like a little bit of that. You run a new guide coming around a corner and you're get a dance around each other, like shooting rockets at each other's feet to try to get enough splash damage to get to kill. You know, like there's a little bit. There's a little bit of that, And I got some of that in the snap map mode actually, because that's where it has just four player regular death Match as an option, and it's hard to find other players there. But that mode feels like the thing you want Doom multiplayer to be, more so than the actual multiplayer mode, which feels like it's just chasing after what shooters have become. Snap map is you know, there are problems with it because it's got player matching and all this other stuff that doesn't work really well. And you know, every time I hit like quick match DM, it's like it pulls up the same two maps and never any other human players. Yeah, but I did get into a basically a rocket arena match with one other person and it was absolutely that. It was absolutely like I am in this tiny room. Yeah, I can pick any weapon I want, so I will pick the rocket launcher obviously, and let's go fight. That's that's awesome. And that worked about as well as you expect from like a quake kind of thing. Sure, but not. I would still say the quick did it better. And you know, they outsourced parts of the you know, parts of the multiplayer stuff. We're handled by a different team, and it shows. It shows, Yeah, just just in terms of philosophy, I mean, like it's it's well made enough, it's just not it just doesn't differentiate itself. Yeah. I looked at it like, like the multiplayer beta was like very disappointing. But if you like try to take a step back from the emotional aspect of it and go like, what is this thing? It's just boring. You know. The worst I can say about the multiplayer is that like it. They don't do anything with it that is especially interesting, and they don't even like they And the disappointing part is they failed to capitalize on the strength of the campaign and it just feels like they, you know, a multiplayer team somewhere made this game in a vacuum and barely checked on what the campaign team was doing because I think, you know, there's a better game there. But whatever, the campaign is great. I kind of want to play it again totally. I kind of want to play it again. Yeah. Just difficulty, yeah so so yeah, Like I don't want this come off as like a fucking get good scrub kind of thing. But I I went back and start cleaning up trophies and stuff, and I dropped the difficulty because you know, it's just easier to do that way. And there's a profound difference in like the number of enemies they spawn into encounters on types of enemies, like like playing through the last level on on a lower difficulty, like there's just less stuff coming at you and less types of stuff like it's I played through on the middle on the default, and but I guess like you can so you can take your weapon on locks and like ruins and stuff into a subsequent play through. Yes, sure, which is kind of cool. So now I kind of want to go back on I guess not Ultra Namare, but Nightmare maybe. Uh yeah, we Ultra Violence. Ultra Violence is the next one up, right, you played, But I kind of want to just go up because if I'm gonna have all these ruins and stuff, like, might as well go for it? Yeah you could? Yeah, yeah, that might that might work, Okay. I I I went and got the there's a trophy for just getting through the first level on Ultra Nightmare, and that took me like three or four deaths to get through, Like yeah, because that's it's like a hardcore mode if you die once you restart. The regular Nightmare is just that without the hardcore aspect. You can just respond when you die, but but you fucking die. Like three hits and you're dead. It's it's pretty rough, but the combat is so good in that game, Like there's such a there's such an elegant like dance to the whole thing, you know, as you're just like leaping between levels and going for glory kills to get help back. And it's just it almost feels and I've seen this comparison, so I know, I'm not totally crazy, Like it almost feels a little Halo esque and how active and dynamic it is in terms of moving around and enemies flanking you and chasing you. And I just got a similar kind of vibe for me. Though when I think about Halo, I think about a game that runs in about a third of the sure. Yeah, you know, like like Halo feels like way more deliberate, and the areas are usually a lot larger, so it's kind of just happens at a different scale. But this feels not claustrophobic. But you are enclosed. You are trapped with these fucking demons. Murder them all, yeah, ripping, tearing, you know, the things you need to do huge guts, Uh yeah, pretty much sums it up. Cool. It's it's it's it's cool. There's like eight other things I want to praise about it, but I feel like that'll wait till the end of the year, once everybody has finished it. Yeah, because it's like a late game and little reference type stuff. Like some of the ways, some of the super subtle ways that thing pays homage to the first two Doom games are just incredible. I installed Doom three. Wow. Wow, I needed to know what's going on Doom three, Jeff, It's like just regular Doom three, not BFG. Okay, yeah, it's uh man, Yeah, you come in on you come into Marrows on spaceship, and then the marine talks to this doctor and then you're walking around. You get your PDA and like I got like fifteen minutes in. I was like, I'm gonna go to sleep. It takes a while monsters to show. It's a slow start, for sure, very slow start, well relative, I mean, what is it like twenty thirty minutes before you start shooting stuff? Like, it's that's long by Doom standards. I mean it's like four seconds and then one it feels like an eternity. Yeah. In that game, I mean that that game was also very much a time and place thing of like this is just like a radical leap in graphics tech that nobody has ever seen before. But you look back there now, I don't think it looks particularly good. Yeah, yeah, but I mean it's a twelve twelve year old game, I guess. So. Yeah. I remember at the time we had to send someone to LA. Did you went to LA to fucking copies of that game? Oh? No, no, not to pick up the copies. I thought you were gonna say. Uh. I went down there for that G four maybe it was G four you know whatever their rewards things, because it's the first public place, Yeah, that they had Doom three playable when it came out. That was That was Adam Adam Adam. Yeah, went down there and picked up copies of Doom because I forget why, because there was a store that had it, and yeah, they weren't. They weren't sending us copies. No, he flew. Okay, so I have a copy of Doom three that still has like a receipt takes time because I had to give him money for that copy of Doom. Yeah. Uh, that's right. That was only like the night before it would have been in store or something. But at the time, it was worth it to get it twelve hours earlier, Yeah, to just start doing reviews, to start working. I think if I remember Greg got one of those copies and just sat down and stayed up all night playing. That is exactly like I remember coming in the next morning at like nine thirty and there he is, like still sitting there played with like eight people standing around watching like him playing through the end of Doom three. Yeah. I got that game game home and started applying it, and I just immediately was like, this is this seems terrible out out of the box. Did not like tum three. I liked. I know it's all like trendy to hate it now, but I didn't like it then. This is what I'm saying. I just, you know, I approached it kind of as a survival horror game, like the way they were pitching it. You know. Yeah, I guess it's not. Yeah, it's not something I played in the afternoon with window open or whatever else, but late night with headphones thing and it works that I see Drew Drew nodding his head down there understands I beat it on Halloween. Nice, Yeah, that's good. I borrowed a video card from the office to play through it. Nice because I didn't have one that was good enough. Yeah. Anyway, Doom is fantastic, phenomenal, the feel good hit of the season. Yeously Yeah, yeah, surprise. It would not be more delighted with the way that thing turned out true. What are we at time? Was like thirty okay, speaking of pretty good shooters. Yeah, Overwatch came out yesterday. Oh my god. Between between Doom and Overwatch, I'm like feeling pretty good about the state of shooters all of a sudden. Yeah, and I'm not a FPS guy, terrible at him, usually don't like playing him. But oh my god, all I get to get about right now? Dom and Overwatch? Yeah, yeah it goes you go streamed a good bit we did. Yeah. Yeah, the servers went up about twenty minutes after. Yeah, a little bit of saying, you know, some hiccups to the not hiccups to just straight I didn't work for a little bit, but then yeah, twenty thirty minutes and it was fun work. Except this morning, I should say, like, I tried to play on PS four here and it was busted, would not connect to the server, was dropping me from games. All that sort of that was on consoles, who knows. But I woke up early this I will I woke up early this morning and thought, well, I'm up and when and played Overwatch. Okay, that's that's overwatched. I think, you know in a way that I certainly did not expect. Uh kind of pulls you back, yeah, a few hours away. But I wonder I don't know, Like I I for whatever reason, I can only really play about three games Overwatch before I have to quit and go do something else for a while, and then like I kind of have my fill and I'm like h r uh, and then like half an hour later, I'll be like plays time to go back and play a little bit more. But like I can't just sit there and play Overwatch because I just I it's just not and there's not enough to it or something. I don't I don't know what it is. I don't think that's something I call of duty works for you because you can have specific things you're working towards to level up and get like oh, I can unlock this gun or whatever, or get this skill point or something if I get one more level, whereas overwatched, it's like I'll get a loot box when I level. Yeah, that's kind of random. The unlocks seem incredibly superficial and not and without much meaning. The skins are nice, like there are nice thing skins in that game, but they're just skins. They are, yes, yeah, but then there's like eight thousand sprays that you get. So if you get like a lootbox that has nothing about sprays, yeah, I got a loot box it was all sprays. I was like, that sucks. I had a hard time like pulling away from it last night. So, you know, as eager as Jeff was to to like, you know, take a break every thirty minutes getting that lootbox, and I think, you know, the different game modes. It gave me enough variety and breaks to just like keep playing it. So how how does it break out the modes because like they're just kind of the quick playoff. You just go and I think I think the modes are attached to the map, right, So some sometimes it'll be like, okay, capture this capture point. Then you get a payload thing to escort along a path, and then if you get it there, you win. Sometimes it'll just be like hey, here's a here's one capture point that both teams are vying for. But I want to say that that stuff is map specific and so you don't have to create like a custom game or whatever. But I think, well, yeah, in a custom game, you can just turn off all objectives and just make it a team deathmatch basically. But I think that's the only option you have. Can you match make the custom games? Or do you have to invite people? It seems okay, matchmaking was super messy last night an Xbox. I ended up buying it on Yeah, I got a group of people that that I played with them there, but yeah, we couldn't do any invites or anything, so hopefully that should be. They were saying that it was broken and that it was working better now I wait, blizzards said that. Okay, yeah that box specifically, okay, problem, But I tried to play on PC last night, and like, it would never find enough people to start a match really, so I would skirmish. I would sit there skirmishing for like ten straight minutes. Wow, Okay, it may have just been people getting tired of waiting and quitting just off enough that it would never start the game. But but yeah, that could be. But I played like three or four matches this morning and it was totally fine. Yeah. I have not had any trouble on the PC version, but yeah, PS four was rough here today. Also, I just I don't know, maybe it's just having just played through Doom and stuff, but I super don't want to play that game with control. Really. Yeah, I'm wondering if it's gonna be terrible for me because I'm going to play on PC with an ex S box control. Really, so you gotta sounds like you gotta get a desk. Stuff sounds bad. I mean, I'm not going to be like Esport anyway. It's so much Oh, it just feels so much better though. I mean, I just don't have to play Fall of Duty on PC with a controller, and I would occasionally kill people Like it wasn't I was not having a terrible time, but in the back of your mind that whole time, you're like, that guy only killed me because he has a mouse. Yeah, I mean I was reading they They flat out said a few months ago a Blizzard did that they were not putting in cross platform play because of that disparity. They were like, our games, our game is too fast, to the point that and they're probably tuning the aiming on console a little bit better for controllers than fair to include in the PC version. Like, I mean, you know, like do what you want, but you might have better luck with the different classes. So if you use it, yeah ed healer or something or yeah, where it's time dan for what? It's time for what? Geting? Get a desk and a raising wheel. No, I have a TV. You can kick ass monitor and get a phantom left. Dude, your TV maxes out at fucking ten eighty. I'm you know, if you had a sick ass monitor up in your grill, twenty one sharp at all gets man, And I will say this, My monitor is like quite literally over ten years old, and it's still better to play on the PC. I mean I have a monitor. I just never hook it up, you know, I big, it's got round sound hook up. I bought that big. It's it's just it's just we're just worth it enough, is what I want to say. Like, there are just enough great games on the PC that you have to have a mouse keyboard for that. You should just do it. We've been planting talk about we talked about StarCraft the other day. I start to have to play that at some point. Yeah, I can't play that with a controller, that's true. I played Command of Conqueror with the PlayStation controller and that worked fine, yea perfect no problems. Then I twitched the mouse and keyboard and it was about twenty times better. Yeah, it's yeah, yeah. Uh. I stuck with the one character primarily, who did you play Zaria? Sorry? I think that's how it's the lady with Yeah, and I want to Hanks, I believe, yes exactly. And she's the one that can shoot bubbles of people shield bubbles, right yep, okay, and yeah that's not usually my play style, but like I picked Farah throughout, Like the banker was great. Yeah, she's she's like the rocket Watch Yeah with the boost the jet pack thing. Okay, so yeah, she was easy to ease into as far as the that sounded. No, don't don't say. I've been playing a lot of just go on, keep going, No, I've been playing a lot of is it is it Lucio or Lucio Cio dreadlock guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because here's gonna be the reason I'm gonna stop playing Overwatch, Because I was playing it this morning and I started caring about the makeup of the team. Oh ye, and when I was healing people who then would still die because they couldn't shoot their opposition well enough. In my view, I got a little perturbed by it. Had that who's the angel looking healercy? Yes I was. I was. She's the one with just the straight up healing beam, right, yeah, yeah, same exact experience. I was running around healing a diva this morning for like ever, who was doing nothing but joking back and forth and taking fire constantly. Yeah, like like if yeah, it's it's it's a it's a real shitty play your class kind of thing. So I'm probably not going to play with a set group of people because, as I said, I play randomly for thirty minutes at a time or an hour at a time or something like that. So it's not like, hey, guys, we're playing uber Watch tonight, Like that's never That's probably never going to be how I play the game long term. So without being able to count on the other people on the team to not just not pick a tank and me always being the healer because no one picks a healer, not that I mind, because actually the healers are fun, uh, that's gonna be the thing where I'm gonna go, fuck this. This is I'm having a bad time with this game now because I because I have started to care too much about it. I will say, in my very limited experience, the little readout of like like you have too many snipers or to support or whatever. Not only is that really useful, but it seems like people are heating that advice. Yeah, Like I think some people do that and then but usually it's been me going like I was going to try to not play Healer this time, but I guess I'm gonna play Healer this time. I mean, it's it's been out for a day. Yeah, yeah, it'll take some time. But yeah. But I was talking to a friend of mine last night who I played Doda with, who is extremely competitive about online games, and he straight up said this game is going to be bad for pub players who can't coordinate, Like like you were going to go in there with your team of regulars and just fucking wipe the floor with with pub teams. If if the skill, if the matchmaking works as well as it should, then that's not going to be a problem for long because the people playing at that skill level should be matching. Maybe you're playing at that skill. Sure, maybe you're right, But you know, he was talking in the sense of like like there are a lot of hard counters or maybe the hard counters on a character versus character basis, but in terms of roles and that you know, since you can change heroes midmatch, like team composition is going to constantly be evolving, so your team has to be able to adapt to what they are are adapting to. You know, it's going to be like a big interplay of yeah, of making sure, yeah, I don't doubt that at a higher level of that game is totally going to become that and it'll be like, Okay, we captured Point A, everyone changed to their fucking point B roles, and let's do that now, Like that it's gonna end up being that game, and I don't want to play that game, so that that seems like that's the only way that game has legs to me. So if people are not down for the like the long haul of keeping up with the meta or like, like, it may not totally and and so you know, through the open beta and through the kind of these early days, like I'll probably have a good time because everyone will be figuring it out. But as soon as everyone feels like they've figured it out, I'm probably not gonna want to play that game anymore. Once people have sunk time into that game the way they sunk time into t F two. Basically, yes, like, once people have played that thing for like thousands of hours, it's going to be like I turn off all voice chat because it was already I was like, Okay, I don't want to hear this person's voice ever again, and and I don't want to hear anyone's voice ever again. As it turns out, so uh yeah, it's the core of it is really good. The shooting fundamentals. It feels incredible rate like it's art style, you know, it's a it's a bright, colorful game in the way that they don't make games anyway. It's like it's got that wow like kind of like the slightly exaggerated cartoony aesthetic in the shoe locations. Yeah, which is great. I've seen a handful of people comparing it to Splatoon in a way that's kind of like you know, stylish. Yeah, like not like like we're saying on that stream yesterday, it's not super murdery yeah. Yeah, the characters have a lot of nice personality, like like without being too cloying or whatever. Like some of the quips you get when you use certain abilities feel appropriate. That's fun. Yeah. I split my signal last night, so I was showing it too, like the TV I was playing on my monitor, and Lisa wanted me to go through the entire cast show, like all the animations and all the costumes and stuff. She was super into it. Yeah right. I even find the emerging like Overwatch fandom to be kind of endearing, as people like kind of have their favorites and are doing fan art and stuff like that. Doing fan art, yeah you know what I mean. Yeah. Yeah. Also everyone hates Bastion apparently, I don't whatever. He's really good, yeah, I mean I haven't tried him yet. Yeah, but not like just out of control. It's just like if someone is fucking posted up as Bastion somewhere, then you know to not just walk around that area. Yeah. Is he the one that turns around back? Yeah? Yeah, okay, so I guess the stationary turret and then as the alt that's the tank man. He's fucking scary, but also like not in a way that I feel like is super unbalanced. Right, it does feel like one of the situations where, yeah, there are counters to that. Yeah, it seems like everybody's got an answer, and like every don't be an idiot. Don't just run into the open area that you know that the turret guy is covering and sneak around back. Like the maps are designed in such a way that like there are are not too many points that are just like permanently defendable that I've seen lad alternate paths people, So it just seems like if you are working with a team and handling your business, like that's not a problem. But at the same time, five bastions on top of a payload, oh yeah, that would be in their turret mode. You're like, all right, I mean I've actually seen that. Yeah, this wow, this is not something that you is completely undefeatable, but is also like you're looking to go, this is dumb. It sounds super shitty. This, Yeah, I haven't run across that yet. This is maybe not super fun. I'm just I'm really impressed at how I've tried probably half a dozen characters at this point, and they're all just like so approachable and also just how quickly you start intuitively using the things they can do. Yeah, and they do a great job of like you know, easing you into those skills and actually mapping out, you know what what everything does for the most parts, So there's some super smart stuff. Yeah, Like, yeah, it's just started with Tracer and like you just immediately start hammering that time lapse as soon as you take a bunch of damage, you know. And yeah, like great moment with Diva, Like first match I played with her, it's like, oh, I'm going to use this offensively and just like you know, rocket your way into the middle of a fray and immediately pop out of the mech and then you can double kill with it and it just feels really good. Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot of really cool stuff about that game. Yeah, but I I share your concern it's about yeah, and I wonder, like, you know, they've they've got their kind of weekly rotating brawl like that explained that right now. Right now they have it set up as like Arcade mode or whatever, which is like double health, shorter spawn times. The cool downs really yeah, cool downs are really sure. So you're just like getting out there, like you know, rotating game modes. Yeah, and it's still well it's if they list the maps that it plays on, so it's like sixty from maps, so it's not the full load out of maps, but you know it's most of them or half of them. I guess it is that full matchmaking, like you get full XP like it's it's a proper mode. It's not just a goof. And that's the one when they had the open beta, it was the random character modes. Every time you spawned, you've got a different character. So like if that ends up being like the like, hey, if you're playing with people and you kind of just want like a fun shit show of different rules and stuff, like, maybe that'll end up working in a way that like the quick play won't because that'll probably be where the people who are serious about Overwatch will go to play Overwatch. So if I can do this other stuff, then maybe that'll still be cool. Yeah, I don't know. It's yeah, I really like it, but I see I see where it will probably go bad for me, and we'll see, we'll see how it goes, I guess. Yeah. Yeah, if anything that's encouraging that, you know, it's gonna have legs. And then it'll be around for a while. Yeah, oh yeah, I mean yeah, I mean Blizzards like post release support is legendary, and like they're like I mean, besides the obvious diabolotue reference, yeah, like they still add stuff to all their games frequently, right, So, like you have to imagine this game is gonna get a ton of extra content stuff. But like I do sympathize it, like yeah, good, just like you know, hop in and blow shit up and be done. Yeah yeah uh. And that's part of what's drawn me to Call of Duty over the years, is because it's very much like a team game for people who don't necessarily want to play on the team, because you can still be affective by yourself, you know, I put the cursor onto people's faces and pull the trigger and they're dead, and then you keep doing that. And I mean there are objective modes and there is a higher level of play for people who want to get into that ship. But fuck that. The games pop enough with people who want to play the way I want to play it that it's never a problem. Whereas Overwatch, I mean, obviously, like the intermittent of character classes and the way they all they all work together, like, that's that is that is that game. So you know, to to ascend the the skill tree or you know, to to become more skillful at that game at some point requires you to actually play it the way they were trying to have you play it. Ye, and like you said, with with people like you have to You're gonna have to set up It's yeah, it's not enough for me to be like, well, I'm gonna be Mercy and this this is probably the character I should be buffing. Uh, it's that character also has to be kind of on their ship too. And the minute you have to rely on other people, I'm out play around with some of the other classes. Yeah seriously. Yeah, everybody that have played so far has been you know, at least pretty fun, right, And yeah, it's easy to to to get familiar with them. So I haven't played too many first halves of matches with zero healers, oh yeah, to to not just end up going fuck this and back to the healer, you know, because it just it's been like that so far. Yeah, we'll keep our eyes on that. I'm curious to see, you know. Obviously people are gonna stick with it for a very long time. Yeah, Yeah, see what kind of content it gets and how that community evolved. It's it's super wellmad. It is extremely well made. Yeah, and you know, pretty low buy in on PC, like all things considered the forty dollars one or whatever. Yeah, you gotta kind of look for that though, like yeah that wait, you mean in terms of because they want you to buy the sixty dollars of course version with the skins. I don't know. I went to the I went to the buy over is buyover Watch, Playoverwatch dot or whatever, the play Overwatch the thing where you go buy it, and like they had the first thing, that's they had all three tiers listed there. I had. There were a couple of clicks. Yeah, before I saw it, I think, like you a front and center. Was that sixty dollars one? Yeah for sure? But I think Amazon even had like that sixty dollars version for forty eight or something if you wanted to get a physical copy of the game. Oh yeah, yeah, so they've got some options out there. I guess, yep, what are you getting that twenty dollars? That's the thing. Like it's it's like it's like four or five ends for Overwatch and then like the standard assortment of like, well, some player portraits for StarCraft two and some new wings for your Diablo character, and something like a pet and wow, it's that standard smatterings of the Storm as well. Yes, right, so that's kind Can you buy her? Outside of that? I think it's just play hears and I don't know. I want to say she's been in here's the storms already, I think. Yeah, overwatch seems good. Yeah, we will continue to overwatch it. All right, let's take a break, take a pause, be right back. All right, who's brought something else? With the class playing anything? I played through until dawn with my girlfriend. Would you finish it? Yeah? Yeah, I played it every night until we beat It's really really cool game. Yeah, you know, I know it's a bit old at this point, but I'm not someone that likes horror movies or slasher movies or anything like that, and usually just kind of bored by them. I do so like, I like the interactivity, Like I don't like jump scare horror movies because then some dumb thing happens. You go oh for a second, and then you know, you watch some dumb thing happen with this the jump scare happens. It gets you for a second, but then you have to fucking like do quick time events and get out of the way and stuff, and it really just adds to the tension of it quite a bit. Or you have to make some very uncomfortable decisions. Yeah, with with the knowledge that hey, whatever I pick here may come back to bite me in an hour or two. Absolutely. Yeah, it was so great to just you know, we would until it was dark every night and turn the lights down and everything. Uh, just really really effective, really cool game. That's that's awesome. Yeah, I forget who did the Quick Look here with me? But is that you like that? The moment in the Quick Look that stands out to me was when your hand gets caught in the trap and you have to decide if you figure off, what do you do? Oh yeah, I think in the Quick Look we did it. Okay, I think, yeah, we we did too. I think in the bear Trap it's timed and if you wait, I think there maybe is another way to get the get the bear trap open without cutting your finger off. But these like decisions, they're pretty weighty, right, Like I remember going through the Quick Look with you, and you had played it the night before did some something completely different, and then in the Quick Look you had a completely different I remember being shocked, like as we were recording that thing, exactly how much that could branch. Oh yeah, things that I thought I assumed were like because Heavy Rain was real bad about that, you know, it's like, oh yeah, they offered the illusion of choice in that game. But then it's like there were only actually like five decision points and none of them really mattered that much. But in this like you know, and things could play out one hundred percent differently. Well it's fun too, because you know, going in that like you know, the eight main characters can live or die or you know, they can all die or all live or whatever, and so we're trying so hard to make every decision. Like I was playing all the guy character, she played the girls, and we were just trying to keep everyone alive there. Like we hated Emily, but we're like, all right, let's we did. We had the opportunity to shoot her, but we thought that we didn't have the intelligence that stated that window Goes can bite people. It doesn't operate by zombie rules. You don't become a wind to Go if you get bit by a Windo goes, so we didn't shoot her. But then like we got to the very last chapter and the very last sequence and everyone was alive. Yeah, we're gonna do this, really keep everyone alive. And then and like one fell swoop, like four of our people died. We made one decision just boom, explode and dead burning faces. Awesome. Yeah, it was awesome, so huge, huge thumbs up. We both loved it, really cool game that was very surprised that cool. I want to go back to it, Like I didn't get very far, but I think, you know, I've been hesitant to get back into it because I don't know how easy it is to just like jump back into that story. It's pretty short. It's only like eight hours, so if you really want to get back into it, depending on how far you were just you might want to restart. Yeah, I stopped. I stopped two thirds of the way through, like shortly after that quick look and then I gave it to you and yeah, like no idea what we were doing at that point, Like it seems like don't they have like a last time on. Yeah, it's like an episodic thing, like at the beginning of each chapter, it does previously on shows the decisions you made and who you can review stuff like with the butterfly effect is that, Yeah, you can always hit our one and go to the menu and it shows like, Okay, well Chris decided not to do this, and then no, it turns out that you know, this person's mad at this person. So yeah, you can review all that stuff super easy. I don't I don't know if they ever put out sale numbers for that thing, but it seemed like at the time it just kind of caught fire on like Twitch and stuff. I have to imagine it did pretty well. I hope so, because like I would, I would love more games like that. Yeah, it's extremely unique. It seemed to be onto something with that thing. Yeah, and like you know, there are parts of it that like, you know, the characters don't control that well when you're just like walking around and shining flashlights at things, But that's not really what the game's about. It's about the choices and the story and everything. What do you think you would do, I mean, making another thing like that? Do you think they kind of all have to be this sort of horror styled thing, Like do you mean that studio specifically? I mean just say you want more games like that, but what I find with them, and you look at all the classic horror franchises that have a million sequels and Halloween's and Friday the Thirteen, it is just until, don't you think it? I think, do you think it has to be all flicks? Especially there because the stakes are so high because anybody can live or die at any time, and it's justified for them all to die. So like that, I think it works especially well there. Yeah. Yeah, And I guess I've never really like, what do you put it in the same vein as like Telltale games? As far as I oh, it's about a story and decisions, and because like I hated The Walking Dead, I've hated like every game tell Tale has ever made. Actually, And but I love this. You played Poker Night at the Inventor. I did. Actually I'm not a big fan of it really, but yeah, I don't know, it's weird that horror is not my thing at all, But yeah, like I really do like horror for this type of game, And I would kind of like that episode. Not episodic, but cereal, you know, cereal the right word no cereal means it's the same story going. Yeah, yeah, what do you call it is? Oh, the True Detective Things, that's what it's called. The True Detective Thing Anthology, That's what it's called. Yeah, I want that just like a whole new Cast home story every time quadrilogy, I think, right, right, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, So I don't know. I think horror really works for that, although I guess Walking Dead was Horror had zombies and I paid that game. That's a good game. We're they're walking terrible. So cool, that's deep. Yep, yeah, Drew, Yeah, sorry, I hear you've been playing some stuff. Yeah. I played a whole lot of Pocket Card Jockey. Oh boy. I had a long collect to Hawaii. Oh right, yes, and so I hopped on my my horse got in the level three comfort zones. Horse to Hawaii. Yeah, on a plane. Oh but it was like one of them flying horses. Okay, cool. Uh yeah, that game. I played probably a total of maybe five hours over my vacation. Still don't really know what's happening. I know how to play it. I've won a few races, uh maybe like thirty percent of races I won. And I don't think you get much for coming in second. I think you just you have to win, like that's that's the whole point. That's a big yeah. So then you get your picture taken with the guy with the gold te I like that guy. Yeah, he's pretty cool. But I I know, I understand how all the systems individually work, but I don't really still don't have a sense of how they all work together. Uh so I don't really know what the I just only have vague senses of the strategy. What does the giddy button do? Pop quiz? It gives you more fire more yeah, which then converts at the end to enthusiasm. Yeah, I think energy with energy although, and then you get an enthusiasm rating yes, and then that contributes to what your stamina no overall speed speed okay, and the hearts are your stamina, which equates to speed boosts at the end. But you level up faster if you have hearts. Okay. How do you increase comfort by moving around? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, you have to you physically move your horse on the on the bottom screen, which is like where it is in the pack based on the comfort zone forecast, right, so you can you can just throw pointing back or forward. It is not that hunt hard. Yeah, but it sounds but it's vague, like you don't really know exactly where the comfort zone is going to be. You can turn that off. Yeah, oh really, Yeah, because it's the game just bad at teaching its mechanics, or is it just it's too dense, you know, there's like tutorials. Yes, yeah, it is kind of dense, but I think it's easy enough to jump into you. It's like, okay, all right, I'm doing this. That's it's clearly doing something good. I like that. But yeah, yeah, there is some stuff that the tutorials not as long as as Dan made us think it was. There's a lot in the quick there's a lot, but it's it's not insurmountable. There's also a demo on the shop, and I believe your progress in the demo rolls over to the action game. Okay, question, I could grab that although and it's also it's also Stephen Bucks. Yeah, somebody, I mean, it's the bigger thing and we talked about it already. Is somebody wrote in saying that there is a phone version of this game in Japan. I heard that, but I tried to google it and couldn't find it. Everything I found was just related to the three DS version I wanted. I would absolutely rather it just seems like a good phone game. Yeah, absolutely, I just don't want to carry the three DS around anymore. Also, a Giant Bomb user heard on the podcast that I was going to Hawaii and sent me an email and said, Hey, I'm in the Navy. If you're by Pearl Harbor, Wow, you can come tour my Los Angeles Class fast attack nuclear submarine. So I did that? Man? What? Yeah? Holy shit? I wish I had photos to share, but guessing that was forbidden. Yes, we had to put I put my phone in a metal box before I got on the submarine. Yes, so special. Thanks to Nick for showing me around. It was awesome. Have you ever been on I know there are a few World War Two submarines scattered around the country. I've here. Yeah, I've got one in my backyard. Yeah, next year, container full of arcade machines. Yep, Popino, the one by Fisherman's Wharf. Okay, I've been on that one. That's cool. Yeah. Uh, And that's the only one I had ever been on, So it's interesting to compare. It's it's funny like walking onto a modern military submarine. There's still just as many valves and dials, like not much as streamlined from like the forties, like a lot of computers, just a lot of mechanical There's just a few more LCD screens, but the same number of just random stuff everywhere? Is it? Is it just as cramped, it's a little less cramped. Okay. So there were levels in the World War two submarine that I visited, but like, you never want to go down to the bottom level. You're just really cramped. But this one there at for three levels, and I couldn't really tell them apart, but you could squeeze by sideways with somebody and not touch them. That's about how narrow all those stand up straight in the in the hallway yeah yeah, okay, Yeah, and the mess is that what they called it anyway, where you eat the kitchen. Yeah, I don't know if it's a hall, I don't know, because it's in it exactly. The whole thing is one big underwater hole. Right, So that was actually kind of pleasant to be in. It's like a little little diner. Yeah, you say, with the crew sizes, I think between one hundred and one hundred and sixty, Yeah, how long? And then you say how long they're out. I think those things can go for months, right, But I just I don't know. For the sanity of the crew, I don't know how long they actually. I think they do oh god, stuff like that. He was saying that they don't really get communication whatsoever when they're underway. So you're say, aunt could die, but you've still got two months left on your mission. They're not gonna tell you because that would just bum you out for two months. You can't leave. It's not like it's not like they're going to turn around and take you back. Yeah. So you just you come back from your mission and it's like, oh, here's all the like movies can come out in theaters and then come out on DVD while you're on a mission. Here's the info dump of everything that happened. Yeah, yeah it was Internet. No okay. Nick says he has a PS four. He has to make sure all his games are patched before he goes on a mission because you don't want to hit go and then oh this doesn't work. Uh. And he apparently the bunks are really really small. Uh. He Velcrow's a LCD TV, a small one to the ceiling of his bunk and then plays lying down. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, nice. There was a so Nick is the cook on this particular submarine, and there was a He showed me the the pantry. It is a like the size of a like a high school locker, but fifteen feet deep. And if there's something in the back, you've got to unpack all of it, grab it, and then put it all back in. And then there's a freezer that's really similar. Jeez. Yeah, I think I would just be like you guys are gonna do without Parsley until we get to the back of this thing. Sorry, huh yeah, Wow, that's awesome. That's really torpedo room. Weren't allowed to see the reactor room. That's classified. Yeah, that's the good stuff. Yeah. Sonar uh yeah, apparently they're they're like a little expo slates that you can write next to each other. So like everyone sitting at the Sonar bank has a little expo slate in front of them, like a dry raseboard, and you can like write notes there to each other, and if they change shifts, you can write notes to each other. But he says, I've walked up here and just seen guys plan hangman. There are notices everywhere about noise discipline. If you create a loud noise, I think it's called a transient and you have to report it. Like if you drop a can or something and it hits the ground, you have to report that I made a loud noise breaking in the sub or no So like we I made a noise that the enemy might hear. Oh wow, yeah, just like pretty much the exact opposite of what my life is like. Yeah, these guys did every way. Yeah, it was. It was staggering. That's super cool. I'm very jealous. That's awesome. Yeah, what do you think of Pearl Harbors the museum and stuff. I was super impressed with it. I didn't go on the Missouri Missouri I didn't either. I didn't know the significance at the time. I was like, oh, they want an extra forty bucks for that. I'm sure it's as ship, great whatever, And then I find out later it's like, oh, that's the ship that the surrender was signed on. I should have gone to see that. Yeah. So that's a great museum though, But yeah, thank you to Nick for that that tour. Yeah, once in a lifetime thing. That is super awesome that we have awesome, pretty cool members of the giant bomb community. Yeah, for sure. Did you get a dull whip on your trip a dull whip? No? Did you go to the dull plantation? No, I have like the world's largest hedge maze there really in their hand. Yeah. And also, and there are peacocks that just walk around randomly, okay in the hedge maze. Uh. They were more kind of outward near the visitor center where you get a dull whip. All right, be kind of scary if you just turn a corner and a hedge maze and peacock. It may not be it may not be the world's largest, but it's a big one. It's okay, it's pretty awesome. So in dull whips are good too. Ever, since they closed the Wooze, it's been hard to find a good maze the Wooze. The Wooze, what's that? It's a maze? Okay, it's made of hedges. It's closed, now, wouldn't it was it made of hedges? No? Also apparently they're so. There are bunks in the torpedo compartment and if you sleep there you have more bad dreams. But that's super creepy, which is some real like yeah cryostasis stuff. Yeah, that's super creepy. Yeah, and that's that is a really cool we get the thing to get to do on a trip. All right, I move that. We proceed to news most anybody's gott things anything else, pressing to talk about any videos? Royale? Oh my god, let's they put on a new ballad. Patch had to me like, fuck that kid, don't let us do that. Nope, I almost deleted it again. You should don't do yesterday. I'll do it so very tempting. If you didn't have chests to keep up with a totally would I installed tap Tycoon from the makers of Tap Titans. He taped stuff, isn't that's a new tapper. Yeah, it's not interesting. It's not bad interesting. I joined it an investment community, okay, in the game and share rumors. Is it actual no weird multiplayer or is it just adds? It's like, no, it's with other humans, but you it's just a chat room and anyway, okay, I didn't actually want to talk about it. I just installed it and then I b are going quite well, thank you. They put out the new battle Pass for the internationals for Dota two, and they have made Dota two into a clicker. I heard you heard about this, Yeah, so I have ten drills out there. Man, if people are making idle and incremental games like get your finger on the polls, just stuff kind of finds its way back to me. So the Battle Pass has gotten so rotten with like just different quests and progression mechanics and things will level up in it that it is fucking impossible to say a thing that like what is it? You buy it and that money goes into the prize pool for International is the thing that used to be called the compendium. In fact, it still has a compendium in it. She used to be ten bucks for the International every year, which is basically just a program and you got some free items with it and stuff free autographed items, autographed autograph for digital items. Ye. Anyway, they've expanded. Actually it's still ten bucks. I should say, like you can buy in it like twenty seven dollars to get it pre leveled at fifty smart or if you just get it a level one. But there's there's they have spend twenty seven. Maybe of course you did best value. There were forty six unclaimed items waiting for me when I opened it. Wow, it's pretty good. One of the new games like mini game things they have added to it is Pachinko okay has Okay, for first of all, that's actually this is all stuff that is like, it's not taking place in the context of a god to match. This is just something for people who are going to spectate for the most part. No. Yeah, so so they put a Pachinco game in it, which is stupid fuck Pachinko. Well yeah, but to get more balls for the Pachinko game, there are community challenges that have to be completed by everybody who plays the game. Okay, that happened in a tiered format. There's like five or six challenges in a row. The first challenge is because you can, you can, so you can cut down or consume trees in the game to either make paths or right you can get tree to get health back or whatever. I want to say. It was twenty billion trees. I can't remember if it was two billion or twenty billion, but it's billions of trees that the Doda community you had to cut down to complete this challenge. And I think they realized after like twelve or fourteen hours. This was not going to be completed within the time span a lotted before the international just first challenge out of like six, so they added a mini game while you were finding a match. Now that is just a map, like a tiny map of Dodo, where you just click trees as fast as you can, and each of those trees clicked also contributes to this total of billions of trees that need to be cut down. Why because because you gotta get to what end, Because you gotta get billions of trees, because then you get more balls for the pachinko, and then when you play pachinko you might get more experience points on your compendium, and then you see what Malany's next game is. Okay, yep, then Valve cuts you in on the the profits from two great, it's really stupid. It's really dumb. But when is But let me tell you you could click several hundred trees if you're fast while you're waiting and get into a match. I'm all right, but we need you because like the problem with this as like at the end of it, you played Oda, Like that's not that's not a great reward. I hadn't played in about two months, and I bought this thing and played some matches over the weekend and remembered why I had taken a break. Yeah. News, Oh that that wasn't news. No, I mean, of a sort. It seemed pretty big. E three Live. It's live. Every is coming to E three. Uh from our hotel suite. We will be live broadcasting yep. Try but uh yeah, the ESA has announced it. It's a public event. Yeah, which, oh boy, I can't remember. Has there ever been any kind of a public component to any E three. I mean there's always the stuff that's in parking. Yeah, that's something, but that's not That's what I mean. That's not that was not ever affiliated with the ESSA. There was that E for All thing that they tried to do was a separate show that was a separate got downgraded. So that's what I was wondering. I almost thought Santa Monica year had some component. I don't think so, Sanna. That was two thousand and seven and that was the same year's Eve for all, I want to say, because they wanted to like fill the void of like, you know, big consumer show or whatever since E three was scaling down. Yeah, one two of those. Yeah that thing maybe just one didn't do super well from still have my badge okay, yeah, but yeah, this thing is full on E three branded. It's run by the ESA, it's run up the street from regular real E three. It's happening at at LA Live, yeah, which is like it's where Nintendo's press conference used to be when Nintendo had a press conference. It's where the Nokia Theater is. It's it's a few hundred yards from the convention center. So oh yeah, that's it's practically next door. June fourteenth to sixteenth, which I believe are the same days as the show floor. Yeah, and they took like the tickets for free, are they yeah? Okay, also they're all gone, oh, you're right right, but they are free. But yeah, it was free. And so they had this like an event break page set up and you had to go it was wait really yeah yes literally yes uh. And it was basically have two sessions per day, like you were going roller skating. You can either do like twelve to five or five to ten pm. When you signed up, which seems like a very tight turnaround. From five to five I would have maybe gone like eleven to four and five to ten, so you have an hour to kick everybody out and get the new people in. But uh yeah, yeah, so it's it's kind of session the session based thing that they're doing. The list of companies, which I guess is not the complete list, okay, okay, but the initial lists are. I mean, I hopefully it's not the complete list, yeah, because it's a lot of consumer like it's like Warner and Ubisoft, right, those are two effectively the two major publishers listed here. I'll just I'll just read the list. Yeah, alien oculous, all right, free to lay. Yeah. My understanding is that they are sponsoring the entire events that is, yeah, HTC five, so presumably chances to try out five great monster all right, I assume the energy drink probably not not the cable and not the job hunting website Twitch, and then you be Soft and Warner Brothers. As as you said, Yeah, there will also be a Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions concert on the fourteenth. Uh they'll play music from Pokemon, probably with real instruments instead of game boys. Okay, but yeah, like not a not an especially like games heavy or game company heavy list of right, yeah, so far which we might be wonder if that's why this thing feels like it's being announced at the last minute. Maybe they've spent a lot of time trying to lock down other people for this thing, and this is what they got. I don't know. Yeah, I mean, you know, it's worth pointing out, like the thing EA is doing I believe has a public component too. It does. Yeah, I want to say Bethesda has a they are letting some people into that thing. Yes, a short thing, but yeah, it's not that's not Yeah, that's like a one night thing. Was ees thing is like multiple days and there's a there's a uh that event is also happening in London, right, so at the same time as la h, you'll be able to like people in London will be able to go play Titan Followers the same games will be there too. Yeah. I mean they have to figure out what E three is and this is an attempt to try to, you know, make it a little more enticing maybe for you know, if if if you look at like EA having an event and lighting the public in, if that's something that's of value to EA, it makes sense for the EESA to be able to say we got the public, you should come be with us, uh, I mean some freedom. Yeah, but yeah, it's uh, you know, I don't know if he is a part of this thing. I mean they're not part of the initial announced obviously. So there's that Sunday. It was just like the big consumer day because like everybody in there is wearing video game t shirts and which day Sunday of E three. It just seems like everybody's like sold their badges or something. The people out on the street, you get people in cosplay and sure, yeah, people that might not be press hanging out yes on the show. Indeed, Uh, it's a weird time for that show. Like some story on the site points out, you know, stuff like packs is just more and more important these days. Like yeah, but that pack show floor gets really full too, and it's hard to you know, it's hard for people to just play games there without waiting in line all day if something big and important, So you know, like those aren't those aren't always amazing experiences either, So it's it's and you'll notice that like you know, Microsoft and Sony who have booths at packs are not on this list. Yeah, and maybe they'll come through and be there, we don't know. But again, there are only three weeks till this thing. You'd think that they would announce the best foot forward. And if they're leading with like, I don't know, we got a monster, got the freedo. Guys, thereto's crashed. Here the bucking couch photo up? All right, I'm in scout me a ticket. Yeah, so that's yeah. Well, I you know, this fits right in with the idea that maybe people don't want to you know, I talk to some people, some people add publishers last week about this stuff, and they were like, yeah, we need to really take a look at how we're spending our money at E three because they're like, it's just the raw, straight up return on investment of how much money goes into putting like having a big presence at E three and then what you get out of it. Could you spend that money just directly reaching your audience some other way or reaching the press, you know, in a more direct fashion. Uh? You know, I think everyone is asking those questions right now, because I know, even the ones that are still having those presences on the floor, like spending the money. I get the impression that the multiple publishers are sitting there going like what the what are we doing. Yeah, and I want to know what's going to be in the spot where the EA booth was. I want to know what's going to be in the spot where Disney was, because those were among the biggest booths at Easney, a lot of floor space. Disney seems like the sort of thing that should have been at this public thing. And now Disney is not publishing games, So there's that. Uh. But Disney, like Infinity doesn't seem like something that you know, like because they have their own fan events and all other stuff. To you, like, they were very much about the kind of reaching out directly to the public. So it seems like this would have been an enticing event for a company like Disney. Uh. But then now they're not making games anymore, So there's that. Uh. Yeah, it's it's a very strange time. Smart of them to at least try something. Uh, And we'll see how it goes. Yeah, I'll bet the VR guys are pumped. Yeah, yes, like this is this is a perfect place to do this. Yeah, you see that a lot of like packs lately too. That is one thing that you absolutely need to get in front of people still curious to see how VR heavy that show is going to be in general, yeah, actually and stuff like the speaking of VR stuff. A couple of things. Uh, I'm sorry, E Valkyrie is a better game now. Wait what they have patched some things in that game. Like you if you wanted multiple loadoubts in a match, you used to have to like pay a rental fee of your in game currency, not your paid currency, to like rent a slot for fifteen matches. They have changed that to just like you paid the one time charge and you unlock it forever. And I got in a match that I like ten other humans in it. Wow, Like it's still not a full game of humans, but there it seems like riffs are starting to get in people's hands and they're playing games anyway. They've made some smart changes to that game. And the ship unlocking is different now too, so you get earlier access to different types of ships. Cool. And I played a support ship that actually was a lot more fun to play anyway, that happened. VR may actually happen. I don't know about that. But they're packing is almost good now. Yeah, yeah, they're doing like they're They've got a Trelo board up with the stuff they're intending to do to Eve. What a Trelo board. I'm sorry, it's like a project management Yes, it is a public facing project management sucking app. They're gonna scrumb some new features as they are totally scrumming the ship out of this new ship. Yeah, totally great. Yeah. So weird stuff going on with Oculus in terms of like software validation, yes, which seems to not have settled yet, so I didn't. I didn't pull the story out yet because like it was still kind of up in the air. But in terms of like dis allowing other headsets to run from their store what they had there's someone had come up with this program called Revives. Let's Oculus home stuff run on a Vibe. It injects into Unreal Engine and I guess the Unity as well, but it didn't work with every game and all that sort of stuff. But they basically were like mapping the Oculus stuff over to where you could play those games on a Vibe. You still have to buy the games from Oculus, which I guess Lucky's Tail ended up being free no matter what because it was just free in their store. So there was that, But generally speaking, you could download the thing, create an account, and if you had a Vibe still play some of those games that are only available in the Oculus store. Oculus pushed out one point four. I believe it is the software revision, and there's new firmware revision for the headset and censor with that as well. We got it last week before we recorded that vodio, and as it turns out, that has more explicit checking for an Oculus headset in it to kind of prevent people from doing the thing that Revive has been allowing them to do. And it was straight up a DRM style solution where like if you had a like, everything still worked as long as you also had a Rift plugged into the PC. You can still play this stuff on a Vibe, but it was explicitly looking for a real riff, you have to own both headsets. So, as it turns out, no, because what the person who made Revive went and did is bypass all of those checks, and all of those checks include checking to see if you actually own the game. Oh no, I don't know, because you know, like the post that goes along with this update from the guys like this is the last thing I wanted to do, but I don't see any other way to do this, so please don't pirate these games. Shit, but I can't, but I can't stop you. But also this thing totally yes, Scott Ugly. So I don't. I don't know that there's been any comment from Oculus on this time. I did see a comment that they basically characterized this as like a frame. It is like, you know, we're trying to for them hacks, yeah, and other like illicit modifications and this was just kind of a blanket solution for that. Yeah. Yeah, And it's you know, if you look at what they've been saying all along, it's been very much like, oh well, it's not necessarily like we want all of the are to succeed. But a lot of that's been Palmer, who you may have noticed, unless unless maybe this was his comment or something like that. But last time I came from their pr okay, last time I looked, he had not posted to read it in about twenty five days, okay, which to me says someone like got ahold of him and it said, hey, fucking stop. And I don't know that for sure, but that's that's my guess. And so yeah, to have like that, be to have him be weirdly silent, to have the shipping stuff kind of continue to be this shipping stuff weird situation, and then to lock out people that don't own an Oculus headset is a real bad look. But I also suspect that it does probably have a little bit more to do with them just kind of building up their stuff. It's trying to button up things rather than and less about explicitly denying people that access. But they're still making money on games they sell Divive right, yeah, unless those fun the owners are no longer buying. And now that's that's a weird reality. And you saw people, you know, like you you go on and see people kind of commenting about this stuff when it got locked out, and you know, it's it's stuff where the like my kid doesn't understand why we can't watch Henry. We need to fix this, which I was say, like, well, you're using this fucking bootsy ass weird thing to show this to your kid in the first place, you should know the score that you're doing something weird in the first place. But anyway, it's, yeah, it's shitty. This is fucking shitty, And I wonder how it'll end up going. Uh, if this is something that ocos kind of does open up on as because their stated position is that they want to be open about it, so definitely they should probably fix this. Yeah, it's definitely a lot more growing pains than I expected. Yeah, man, stuff like it's you'd think that, yeah, it's it's and I don't know, I guess like that there you go, like Facebook's not a hardware company. Huh Yeah, yeah it shows, Yes, it absolutely shows. Like at this point, I almost feel like those companies need the PlayStation VR to come out and be really successful to like cement this thing in the public consciousness kind of yeah, or you know this Google Daydream Android end stuff or you know Gear VR obviously you know, like like the mobile VR stuff seems like it's progressing faster. Yeah, I get Yeah, I guess too many companies seem too committed for VR to just die on the vine. But it's been it's been pretty rocky stuff, and I think the way it's going, like you see the sentiment around a lot of the stuff, people that pre ordered both headsets and a lot of stuff like that. It's it's really you feel like the weight is shifting further and further in favor of the vibe, which you know, like maybe this should have been obvious out of the gate, but like the people that are early adopters are all the way crazy, So they're the ones that are gonna be willing to devote like a large room in their house to VR and all this other stuff. And that's that's where you look at the rift as it stands right now, and you go, like, it's it's not that, yeah, like it it's it feels it's not that it is limited. And they've got their own controllers and all this other stuff, but you know, they can't even get the headsets and people's hands, like you know, you notice they haven't necessarily been out there talking up their touch controllers much lately. Uh, And I want to see what. Well, I guess maybe they had some of that stuff at packs. They might have been showing touch controllers at packs now that I think about it, but like they probably need to start moving forward on that. But also they tried to ship headsets to best Buy and those locations got five fucking headsets that all sold out immediately. They don't they you know, they're still trying to fulfill all their day one pre orders or you know, like they're all their pre orders. I guess I should say, yeah, it's you know, five years from now, who's gonna care. But like, right now you look at it, go this is super fucked, like, this is not going well, and you know, and some of the games are still pretty bad even you know, hey, a lot of the five games are fucking Yes, there are a lot of bad at bad games that are up on Steam because it's Steam and you can do that. Or it's like on some level, I guess maybe it's nice that Oculus at least tries to cure it a little bit, but but that just leads to me opening Oculus home and are like, nope, nothing new, fuck this all right, And whereas I look at Steam and go like, there's five new things here, oh wow, yeah, where I think there's been like four or five. Maybe there's been a little bit more than that, but you know, the trickle of things being added to the Oculus storefront is just it's just that it's a trickle. Oculus will be a D three. So yeah, and he does, yes, and yes, you smear your greasy freedo and on the lenses of the Oculus you just pour some monster energy drinking though the glasses part and the rents it off and then go to the Twitch booth to film your lute crate unboxed. Yeah yeah, Drew, Yeah, what if I told you that part of Halo five is coming to the PC? What the Forge parts coming to thee Yes? And yes and yes the in fact, hang on, let me let me make sure I'm on brand here with the full name of this product. Okay, Forge Halo five Guardians Addition for Windows ten. That's the name of this product. Also, it's free and you can send your stuff back to the Xbox one. Yes, so so. So it's like it's an editing interface for Forge that you can do on Windows. Couldn't you make skins for your car? Kind of this is this is a mouse and keyboard driven version of Forge for Halo five four Windows ten. Okay maybe, And I think I'm wrong about that. Yeah, I don't know that. Okay, IM sure, I'll do anything for you, not me specifically. I don't do a lot of forging, Okay, I have. Yeah, it's fun, but it just seems kind of weird because part of Forge is you testing out your creations by playing fucking Halo, right, So I wonder if you could do that you can can you can do that on the PC, but also only that, but just yourself the test. Yeah, yeah, so no one else can be in there. Well, you know, I've not done Forage on Halo in Haalo five at all, so, but I think about earlier Forage that was a multiplayer you could get other people in there in the creation. Well, one of the one of the bullet points on this announcement from their press release was and list the help of friends to help build, test and play your forge creations on Windows tints. So if you can do custom games to test the stuff people, I think that's pretty bad. So you can play Halo five on Windows ten, but only this one small sliver of it that they have decided to make available. Also, you have to make the levels yourself. Yeah, you love the the you love of the multiplayer maps and then modify them from it is kind of and this is free. It was free. Yeah, I'll give him. So this seems like the four six Apex stuff where they're taking a slice of content from an Xbox One game and putting it onto PC almost as like hey, please upgrade the Windows ten. It kind of makes sense because they don't have to build the like matchmaking infrastructure. Yeah, it's already built though well xboxes yeah, I don't know, but like all that Xbox Live Services stuff is already done on the PC. They did it for Killer Instinct, they did, you know, I'm sure it's it's not one to one, but like, surely most of the work is done. I don't know. Well, so so Dan Dan from Sydney, Cape Breton in Canada, sending an email pointing month, Yes that's a using place. Yes, well Sydney in Cape Breton is how he in Canada? Yes? What's his name? Dan? Okay? Sydney Ye? Right, he emailed in the point to two posts on Neo gaff by Frank O'Connor, Okay, who is? Who is? Wants to just show up and drop some some blunt knowledge from time to time, So he showed up as to address some questions people ads. So in response to a post that read this seems like a needlessly complicated way of putting Halo five multiplayer on PC, he posted this number one. It's designed specifically as a better tool for Halo five Forge creators to build, share and create stuff faster and with more precision, which they mentioned with the mouse and keyboard stuff in the in the release to the bonuses that PC players can actually play customs with all of the multiplayer content for Free three. It's not full Halo five because that would wreck production schedules and be a year too late, and the game wasn't originally built or designed for both platforms in the first place. For Halo Wars two was built from the ground up for PC and console and without committing to anything else in the thread is a better example of what to expect from three four three and PC support in the future. Me. Yeah, that's the forts of stuff. Felt like the same thing, like, hey, get your feet wet putting out some UWP stuff or Windows ten because when you put your next game out it will be multi platform, right yeah. So yeah, he actually addressed that stuff too. Somebody else posted and said so Microsoft pr statements saying that Windows ten makes porting Xbox games very very easy without any qualifications about tools our systems are misleading. I had just taken them at face value up until now. Well, don't do that, yeah, he responds law. What Halo five development began more than three years ago, before UWP even existed, and further was a massive overhaul of an engine that still has some legacy code and elements going back more than a decade before that, it has a zero relation to the scenario you describe. So yeah, yeah, like that's not probably sensible work to commit to to bring game over. As Microsoft kind of continues to pivot stuff to putting more and more of their first party content out on PC, this just seems like another test bed for that sort of stuff, I guess. Yeah. And also it's weird its own. I mean, that's it's kind of it's kind of strange. But also the way that they formatted the title of this thing makes me wonder if they're going to try to spend Forge out as a brand that exists outside of Halo, because the title is Forge Halo five blah blah blah. You know, I think that I bet that that's more specifically to prevent some confusion about by calling it Halo five and then parents yeah, because it's kind of like not a game. I mean, I you can test your creations out and do custom game stuff in there, for sure, but like it's not I mean, really you could just make no modifications to the presets and just play Halo yeah with your friends. What does this do for Halo Online in China. I don't know, then that thing gets shut up. Maybe that think I forget. Yeah, it's it's weird, but Microsoft is weird, and yeah that's Microsoft is weird. Yes, Microsoft is. It's just about the risky. That's some weird spot right now. At least they're trying console business and PC stuff. And you know the reason why they really want you to upgrade the Windows ten h what's that raison? Because that's where they're going to put their Xbox stuff. Okay, you know as the years go on, you know, Quantum Break launched on both obviously, you know this stuff is the Turn ten team putting something out on PC for the first time. It's the three four three team putting something out on PC for the first time, so that when their sequels come around. I mean, you know, it seems like like almost guaranteed, damn near inevitable that Halo six would be a PC game. I'm done with that, you know, okay, but it doesn't make sense for Halo five again. You know, best with what Frank said like a year late, it's saying with like putting Forts to six out in its fullness on PC, it's like, well, whatever when Forts to seven comes around, or maybe even Horizon three, assuming that they put that out this year, maybe that just is a PC game now too, along with Xbox One, because why wouldn't you if if that's going to be like the corporate mandate or like the move going forward is to really lean into the PC stuff, and you know, who knows if they're going to put out a more powerful console. What the hell they're doing? I like I more and more. Microsoft seems like the one with the most fare, the absolute wild card stuff X has gone, and it seems like Sony will probably be focused on VR. Yeah, it's a large extent like what's Microsoft which at some point, like I feel like a focus on VR. The more I think about it, the more I think that they like might not announce the neo stuff at E three because doing so would probably confuse people into thinking I need this console for VR, when that's the wrong They need to send the message of this thing is totally affordable, it works with the stuff you have today, just go get it. If if then the back message half of that press conference is and here's a better PlayStation four for four gay stuff like that gets messy for them. I think they kind of have to though TGS. Really, I would not be shocked to see that thing get announced and then be out pretty soon for like a November release, even I don't know, I don't know, maybe it doesn't even make it out this this holiday I'm not ready to live in a world where TS matters again. You know. Envision a scenario where they don't they announce the TGS, but it ships Q one uh, and then everyone theoretically gets their four K TV this holiday season or early next year as as of CS when those sets get even more affordable, there's Sony four KTVs. Yeah, Like if Sony's got that stuff lined up to hit around the time that four K is becoming like more accepted or just making its way to more sets, maybe that's how it goes. Or maybe the announced the three. Like I literally have no fucking idea, but I'm trying to puzzle out, like how do they navigate the things they need to Can they in the context of one press conference? That seems hard? Yeah? Yeah? Whereas yeah, Microsoft is in this other position of like you know, they're like fuck it, we got nothing to lose. Yeah, Like the move is fucking like Michael Dell walk out there and say, dude, you're getting an Xbox, Like, what the fuck are they doing? You know, like, what what is Microsoft? What is the Xbox platform? Very much looking forward to finding out all right, Gateway is two thousands out there and inside this cow shape, just box with cow print on it is the future of consoles. It's got the right ram in it. Yeah. Yeah, fucking dude, that's the That to me is like the crazy E three things, like what are these press conference? Its gonna fucking be as of Monday night. We will know most everything there is to know that week. Yeah. Uh, one of the things we know ahead of time. They'll get too excited here. The next the next Destiny expansion has leaked. Okay, it's called Rise of iron U. Kataku has like a poster got out there, basically a photo of a poster, and then Kasaku says that they have checked with their Bungee sources and confirmed it's all legit. The dude from the iron banner is the guy on the poster, which is that occasional multiplayer event gear matters, just like one of my least favorite parts of desk. Yeah, because I'm not there for the multiplayer to begin with. So I don't know, but no details on the content of that thing. It sounds like there will be a raid which is described looking for the quote. One of their sources says the new raid is quote fallen with a twist, So who knows what that'll be. Sounds like it's a raid like they originally thought it was a raid that was cut from House of Wolves, but it sounds like now it's a raid that they started last summer, which would have been right before taking kingshipped. Yeah, I don't know. It's gonna take more than a raid for that thing. Yeah, to pull me back the longer point. The longer destiny goes on, the more like like you know, lute chest focused, it gets some stuff like kind of the less Yeah interested, I am, I don't know, so curious to hear what that thing is. Division pushed out a second incursion today, really, So it sounds like those those things have definitely not turned out to be like the rate equivalent to people people thought they were gonna. I don't know what the content of this one is, but yeah, yeah, uh so. Actually, the last paragraph of the story from Taku is actually the most interesting part of this uh in January. As we reported earlier this year, Bungee moved its internal target for Destiny two from twenty sixteen to twenty seventeen, replacing Destiny two, and this false slot will be Rise of Iron, although it's not clear what else Bungee will release between then and fall of next year. From what we hear, Destiny two was recently rebooted, with taking King director Luke Smith taking the reins of that project in the wake of Bungee staff reorganization. Okay, and this is like in the last week. Wow. So like if that thing's coming out next year and they're talking about it being rebooted internally, like what then it's on the exact same track is Destiny one? Great? Right? I don't. I don't know what to make of that at all, someone who was still invested in the long term future of Destiny. I don't. They've they've somehow managed to create like the world's most popular nightmare, you know, this wildly successful mess of a game. Yeah, man, I got nothing. Strange times, Luke seems like a nice guy. Yeah, I don't know anything about his ability to make games one way or the other. He's a he's a fun guy to chat with, and the taking King is easily the best thing that's been in Destiny. When we talk to him about criticisms of Destiny, he seems to get it. Yeah, so we'll see. Yes, talking to him about what's wrong with Destiny is perhaps the most fun thing to talk to him about. Uh. Anyway, yeah, we'll see. That'd get announced you three. Probably. I wonder if Destiny two ends up being the new Destiny one. Man if it's just like a full on you think I can handle that? The whole pipeline everything is so fucked like. Look, we are gonna give you nine dances for playing Destiny year one, and please play Destiny year one again Destiny rebooting it. Yeah, yeah, we'll see. That's uh yeah, that's just a weird thing, manure is Destiny is a weird thing. We will find out more. Holy shit, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. Some real good slack notifications coming out right now. Okay, I'm actually gonna not grab my phone and look, because this is what you get for having the news stories on your phone. Yeah, it's very distracting. It's easier to read than we're gonna have you write them down on a piece of paper. They can wrestle the paper. Yeah. Yeah, it's just in breaking news at this hour. It's going to be a fun life show. Uh. We talked about this Darkham collection. I put it in here because it was kind of a slow news week. But there's not much to say. Hey, they're putting out its City for fifty dollars on current console, which that was the prototype one and two price point, wasn't that was twenty five bucks a game. Maybe maybe that was forty for the bundle, but there were twenty five bucks a game. Well, this is this is just a as far as this announcement makes it sound, this is just a fifty dollars package. Yeah, you can't get just one or the other. I mean a better looking version of the first game. Yeah, old sum appeals the thing they are saying. It's not just like a reporting the PC version to these new consoles like they say, they are quote improved graphics as well as upgraded models, environments, lighting effects, and shader. Did you see the images that have been going around of someone who went and took that trailer for this thing and then compared them to the original shots from the original game. Because the original games look better, what kind of across the board? I've seen those screenshots. Yeah, I don't know how like accurate they are. I don't know either. Maybe it's fake, Maybe maybe I've just been fooled, but but I hope that's the case. I yeah, we'll see. That's unfortunate, but yeah, I definitely yeah, that's uh, that could be a weird one. Yeah, yeah, I mean that seems pretty expensive for games that old, that have that have both been like a dollar on a Steam sale probably once, and also like the PC versions of those games might still end up being better a long run, right rock side. He's not even working on this package, of course, why would they be reported by the studios? So who knows? Who knows what they're up to. I don't know if we'll maybe it might be too soon to hear something out of them. Three, it's only it's only been a year since. Yeah, yeah, it seems it does. It does seem too early. Yea. Did they make it very clear that no more Batman games? Absolutely, it's not just like, oh, the Arkham trilogy is well ship when you put it that way, Yeah, I would have to go back and look at their exact wording. Yeah, because like you know what, oh Batman Gotham City. I wonder how well the last game did, Like if it's at a point of saturation where it's like, like, maybe this didn't sell. I don't think quite what it needed to The origins helped, Oh, definitely, not No, nor in general. Yeah, I think that's that's the thing is, like, the the Arkham brand has seen some better days. So even if they want to go back and make Batman games at some point in the future, probably the best thing for them to do is to move away from it for five years or so. It sure sounded like they were done when they would go out and pitch that. It sound like they wanted to be done. Yeah, that's whether Warner, let's be done. There's probably a different story. Yeah, yes, it's fair enough. I guess. I don't know how that works. But that was always the talk, is that they were going to do Superman at some point. Just I mean, we've did a list on your phone, sell Jeff of Superman villains. Yeah, that's the worst. How every Superman character is stupid. Yeah, I don't know. I won coming out of like the just the widespread disappointment with the Batman versus Superman movie and even all the Superman reboots, right, like they did the one with Brandon Rowth and Zay. Yeah, like Superman is you know, is is in a rough spot. But now it's like, did they drag Batman down along the way? Does this mean they're just gonna make a suicide squad game? Very possibly. It seems like some positive buzz around that one. So who could say, uh, yeah, I don't know. I would I'm interested to see what they do next. And then yeah, totally like, yeah, so you can make a good game. I would like to see them move away from Batman. Yes, also agreed. Last story, it's a doozy. Microsoft is loosing a million gamer tags. Yeah, back into the wild thing they did this, This happened right, Maybe maybe the date last weekend. Maybe the date has passed. Man, Oh you're right, I'm sorry. Yes, this was on eighteenth ship. Those are already out there. Yeah, too late. All the good ones are gone. Well maybe if you wanted the word butthole with no x's or four twenties, but it's sorry I took it. Yeah. They they put out a pretty silly list of like here are some of the things that are in these gamer tags proper names types of food, math and numbers, animals, science and technology, some of the greatest inventions of all time. But these previous previously like reserved names. They were they were all. They were all gamer tags that had never been ported from the original Xbox to the three sixty. Oh oh, they're all gamer tags that have been out of use for at least a decade. Yeah, but yeah, yes, so I failed to note that the data has actually just passed for this. Maybe those all got taken. I don't know. The one I wanted was is continues to be taken. So I did not change. Did they make an official that PSN names will change? No, No, not that I've heard. Huh, that's what I have some news story recently about how they're looking into that or something. I mean, I think every time somebody asks them about it, they will they will pay some lip service to I don't I forget what their wording has been. You know, it's like, oh, it's not as easy as you think, or something like that. Yeah, because it's tied to right. Yeah, Yeah, I'm not sure. I don't. I don't think they've said anything definitive there. They should do that. Yeah, I have lost count of the number of people I know who are embarrassed by their PSN names. Yeah. Yeah, they should also let people. They should also add privacy settings too. If people can add you to a group or not turn off all notifications you can do. That doesn't help that, I'm saying, like, yeah, yeah it does. No, No, it's just just helps still come in, just helps with you not being notified. But as long as I don't see if you ever go to the within your messages view is effectively because it's just full of people adding you to groups. So I never look at that. Yeah, this is something that happened to me here and there, like when group messaging first rolled out. Yeah, but and then this will to anyone at home. This is gonna sound super dumb. Yeah, if you have a verified account on the PlayStation Network, it is a conduit for you to constantly get added two groups by random strangers who then just like spam a bunch of g's or just a bunch of garbage into a bunchet gebberish, or send you a sticker or something. Yeah, I can comment on your trophies, that's fine. I don't great, Okay, but they don't do that. I get that. Okay, sometimes people will comment on your trophies and that's kind of neat. But but the group spam stuff is crazy. Yeah. Like I've had to basically uninstalled the Like I had the PlayStation Messages app installed and I was like, oh, maybe I'll start accepting messages again on on PlayStation network. I had him turned off for a while, and then we got verified and I was like, oh, no, I could use some better filtering options messages side. I'm sure Sony is aware. I'll just sause they're all verified too. Yes, I had a conversation with Tim Shafer about this problem. I send John Drake a bunch of g's about three weeks. Good. Yeah, it's good. Remind him, yeah, let him know. All right, let's move on to the emails for the week Bomb Cast and Giant Bomb dot Com. Okay, yeah, first email comes in from Michael. It's very short him Michael, why does Dan always beat Jason in fighting games? Jason loves this. It's because Jason is trying to show off the game for a quick look and Dan is trying to be a dick. It's a great combination. Really, it's Jason trying to give an indication of the full breadth of the game mechanics on offer. It's it's Dan is matching typically off camera. Yeah, I think it's his least favorite thing. Yeah, but I mean full full disclosure, Like I get really really bad, like social anxiety when I'm on camera identify. Uh, it's it's really really hard to like talk about a game and play and then have Dan chattering. What's your excuse for? When I went to your place and played Mortal Kombat X, I was really drunk. I was drinking too. You gave me that crazy kombucha vanilla whatever it was called that stuff. What's the stuff that tastes like cinnamon chota? Yeah, And it was a lot closer than you're probably gonna try and make it out to be. But yeah, the game was pretty new and you were playing and I it's basically like, oh, yeah, you know, doing the equivalent of fucking Eddie Gordos ship the week that that TECN came out, I did that when Tecon three came out, Saxon Circle and Circle. Yeah, do you do you remember? It was shortly after that that we played Mortal Kombat on EPF and beat you pretty handily actually with Goro. I believe that. I don't remember it, but I believe it, and I bet nobody does remember that stuff. Yeah, there's probably a video of that out there. Yeah, yeah, it's on the side. Yeah totally. But yeah, Dan's super frustrating. He said on the shoulder, you know, I'll chell me as ship. Yeah, you didn't need to sit on that side. No, I didn't. Never do it again, he said he sat close to me because he's sick and he wants to get me sick. Okay, that's not true at all, that you have that. I implied that, but okay, I can I can respect that. But yeah, off camera, it's a completely different story. Yeah, he is better, he is better at fighting, he's better. But that's one of those very frustrating things because there's no way you can say that without people just rolling their eyes and going yeah, sure, but but yes, the the split of playing games on camera versus off. Don't worry because I think Dan is sponsored by a porn site, so we won't be able to go to the pro tour. There was there was a bigfuffle about Capcom rolling out a bunch of like new conduct and sponsorship rules for the Pro Tour interview again, Like again, I thought they amended enough to where they had to kind of. I know they amended it once because they initially that's I mean, it's okay, all right, back to the news. Uh, Yeah, they disallowed the players that were sponsored by you Porn from compete in the Pro Tour You Porn sponsors. Yes, they've also had like a league team and stuff like, but that they've been this is not the first time they've been blocked by a professional organization and stuff. But so final basically, there was enough of an outcry that they somewhat relented and said, Okay, they can participate, but the brand cannot be mentioned anywhere. So basically the compromis. I didn't actually I think that's yeah, that sounds right. So are you saying they're reviewing it again on the top of that, I don't know. I don't know, Like I don't know if that's a I don't know, because that follow it up on that portion of that seemed like the best anybody was going to get. Yeah, on that in that situation, which at that point, like why sponsor a team, you know, if your brand's not going to get mentioned, like they especially for you porn because they had to like take a weird step back where they had to go create a site. There was not a porn site for their esports stuff. Like I think they already in the sports they already refer to themselves as like team hYP I think so. So that's like a thing that like I'm sure like somewhere in the fine print you can maybe like, oh, these are the porno people, right, Like, I don't know what a cost to sponsor a player. I imagine you have to you know, ship them out or fly them out too. I think you just give them manager a bunch of money and then the manager spends it and nothing, right, that's how he supports basically how it actually Like the manager gets a bunch of free mice, throws them at the players along with like some candy bars they cap your hole. Yeah, and then they play a league of legends fucking ninety hours a week while the manager is on a private jet somewhere spending some sponsors money. Yeah. I mean, it's all gonna go away in eighteen months, but whatever, let's live while we got it. I kind of want to be the way it's supposed to work, Like the way it's worked in Korea. Is the players get paid salaries. You know, they are paid and that's regulated and that's an actual job. But yeah, and then the fighting game community, there's no real manager. Yes, I mean there have been a couple, but where you should you should carve out a new career, say fighting game, Say I'll be on your team, Jason, where you manage me? Get a megaphone? Where's the don king? Where's the donk? Yes? Yeah, I think you porn is actually sponsoring wrestlers now too, Joey Ryan and Joey Ryan painest thing is now officially the you porn Plex? What oh man? What branded custom moves that whenever I see I'm tweeting about it, it's the at new porn Plex. I think that's put the people with this panis that's a bridge too far. I think, uh yeah, yeah, you're you're right. Well, also it's and it's indie wrestling. Oh wow, okay, okay, this isn't like he's not on like underground. Yeah, he's been on T Day absolutely, but I doubt that they call it that when he is a professional organization, right right, he can tweet about yeah if he's in fucking Hayward. He can do the U porn plex all day long. Yeah, not on Monday night rock Because I mean, if anything, wd W w W E hasn't like gotten more and more family friendly or reforms going for They don't like when people bleed anymore, which actually is pretty smart. Brock Lessener is lucky to have a sandwich company on his shorts. Like you can't really like strike your own deals as a worker. That was just the deal he already had going in or something that whatever you dig into brock Lessmer's past, they shouldn't let him. Yeah, wrestle, he's crazy, He's I hate on the Hall of Fame. Brock Lessner still walks the earth. Oh they've been doing the PA. That sounds bad. I mean he has said some things and interviews and has some views that he looks like a scary dude in genes. That's not maybe too surprising to hear. Yes, he looks like a human rhinoceros. Like he just looks like he's built like a fucking tank. No, I'm sorry you think of rhino with a why all right? That one? That one's well, that's too bunch of a deep cut for me to move on. Who okayed the thumb tacks. That was shocking to me. I thought there was no chances they were going to do that. Yeah, we've got a whole set. We want to come on this podcast and ask the question who came with the thumb tax? You want the power Bomb Cast Premium members consistent, send a voicemail no. Kevin from Illinois heard the discussion last week about how to clip your nails without getting them everywhere? Send in a tip. Just fill the sync up with a bit of water and submerge your hand while you clip the nails. Not only does this prevent the clip things from flying, but we'll also soften up your nails. Uh as you go, making easy, making each one a little easier to clip. Clipper gets rusty. Yeah, you could get a rusty clipper. Non, they're also a dollar and yeah I keep a name no clipper in the in the shower and yeah, it'll get a little rusty. Are they like high end nail clippers? Yeah? What would they do differently every What what don't they do? Is the better question? Yeah? Just check Amazon. Yeah, make you sandwich, just wash your car. Okay, the sandwich filled with nail clippings because that's actually really Yeah, that sounds worth some good fiber in there. Okay, all right, I mean a lot of people just eat them anyway. Yeah, So let's see. Stephen asks, when is the last time you booted up your personal TS three or three sixty and which of last generations consoles had the best boot up sound and display? Last generation? Oh? Man, I think I don't know the last generation. I think PS one had the best one ever. The one I mean, the PS two is pretty good. I like, I like PS two. There's something I always really liked about the p S three's because it was amazing, and it's in its pomposity, because it was like, all right, here, here's here is an orchestra getting ready to like like you were about to experience a symphony of video game to lights, like let's go. I loaded it up three or four weeks ago for Soul Caliber five. I still have a three sixty connected, but it is primarily used as a DVD player. That's exactly what I was doing for is as the backwards compatibilities occasion. Doesn't the Xbox one and PS four can play DV, different TV. Oh okay, I've got a lot of TV's in that house that needs serving capabilities. As soon as Soul Caliber and Red Dead got backwards compatible, I got read in my three sixth Wait did Red Dead officially or was that just the I mean, I mean I haven't tried it. I think I remember reading that and it's like, all right, I don't need this thing anymore. Did they get yanked after like eighteen hours or something? I thought that was like a yeah, it was short lived thing that they pulled back to. Maybe they brought it back. They just added black ops recently. Okay, that stuff has been really cool. Yeah they've I don't use it ever, but boy, I download the ship out of those three safety games hard drive totally. That's and just knowing that they're there, yep, is comforting. I went and grabbed that free dead Space. Even though I got dead Space on a disc. I went out the game the games with gold version, just to have a digital version to the case I feel like firing up dead Space. I have played Geometry War as a handful of times Xbox one. Yeah, like I've played some Mark of the Wolves. Yeah, like this this is cool. I just never know, you never know. I did just this past weekend, nice I fired up my PS three last week to pull all my old uncharted saves off of it for a thing that we did. That we'll go up at some point. Uh. Let's see related question from John Uh. He wants to know what are your favorite consoles from a visual or product design sense. I'm partial to the Attard twenty six hundred, that weird Canadian we Yeah yeah, the red Weed. Yeah, got one of those in my desks. The PS two Slim, the Game Boy Micro, the Saga master System and my favorite of all time, and the GameCube handle and all yeah. PS one reboot, the rereleased, the Little Tiny One, keep the screen, Yeah, game Boy sp advance yea. The Master System looks so cool it. I saw some shots recently of one with a prototype that saw that. It was like, man, that looks yeah, it looks also some real good eighties looking like future tech design. And the Phaser, the light gun for the Master System is similarly rad Yes, it looks like something out of an eighties too, not like the Zapper that things that's clezy. Was that thing called the Pazer? It was called the Phaser. Yeah, okay, man, that sounds like good. A copyright in fringement or light phaser or something like that. Yeah. I actually think the Vita is a really slick system to look at and hold and everything, and especially the newer model. Yeah yeah, yeah, that's when I got it. I was thinking about the original PSP also, just that like the square kind of metallic, like it just get a good feel to it. Yeah. I don't like the shoulders, the kind of weird clear plan and the square buttons would stick on a lot of the buttons would get sucked up, but like there was something about it just felt substantial in your hand without being too heavy. Uh like just specifically the parts that were metal felt good. Actually, like the PSP GO. Yeah, I like that, but I think it was it was Yeah, that was a drawback, but DS light. By the time time the PSP GO was coming out, you know, everyone was downloading games anyway. Yeah, yeah, just not the way Sony intended. Yeah. What I really liked about that is you could dock it and actually, do you like an opponent out and then sink of bluetooth controllers. You could play like all your games on your TV, which is kind of cool if you're into PSP games. Yeah, that's the problem you're not, I understand. That it's a good version of Dark Soccers. As long as you could sit total load time, push the metal head on. It was pretty good. I mean, you know, luminess, it's very good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Lots of Monster Hunters. Indeed, what yep, lots of them? Code name MH What do you think it stands for? Monster? Monster Hunter? Oh? Man, just a handheld that plays no, God damn it. I want a big boy version of Monster Hunter. I'm ready. I don't know that. That whole thing seems sounds real shaky. Yeah. Uh. Andrew wrote in about game Room finally, I'm going to just make more of the story short, uh and get to the point where he asks if the story ever came out, why someunset writers never came out now? Like why there are games in game Room that never actually became available for sale? Uh? I feel like maybe I actually was told that. Now that I think about it, I do know that there were builds of game Room that had way more games in it than they just never did the licensing, Like the business never caught up with them, so that stuff never came out. That's right. I heard some stuff about that too, know you mentioned it, But I want to say that my hypothesis that it was just straight up like Canami one to release it as an XBLA game, full on XBLA game, and it wasn't worth the money. I want to say that that was part of it, but I don't actually know for sure. He also asks if there's anything in game room that you think is genuinely worth three dollars, just Venetian blinds just He actually says Venetian blinds is force a given? Yeah, can you can you still pay money for all that stuff? I assume so, but I don't know. Every six months or so someone writes me and goes, they're taking the game room servers down, and then I go check game room and it still works. Yeah, Like I don't know game room backwards compatibility. It needs to happen. It does one versus one hundred backwards compatibility. Yeah, you need to get from christablishment. That would just be a fantastic you want to talk about, like a good like feel good enough, feel good enounced, Yeahcercife, it would be. There seemed to be like a strangely large number of people out there that like really miss one for some one. It's great. I loved it. If it was cool at the time, it just didn't fit with like what the image of the three sixty was. You know, it had become the shooter console, would you know? It was? It was the big mainstream console for big mainstream games, and Triple A was it's height, and all this other stuff was happening, and they were you know, that's when they were trying to they made avatars, and they were trying to make in roads with the wee crowd. And then also they were trying to sell ads, and like you know, digital advertising was not where it it is now, so it was probably pretty hard for them to sell ads into one versus one hundreds. A lot of the ads looked like house ads when you would watch the shows. So like that stuff has advanced in a way that like you maybe could do it better now than you could. Then you would just make it multi device, yeah, you know, you would make it like we're putting one versus one hundred out everywhere iOS even you know, just like here it is. Was that a brand that existed outside of that? Oh yeah, it was a game show. I think Bob Saga hosted it. I think you're right, Yeah, I think you're right. I was in the one hundred once on the live show. Really, yeah, I didn't do it great? Yeah, never the one never the one? Yeah, I think didn't even run that long. Did it a few months? Maybe? Yeah? Yeah, it was like a live host and everything. I man, I thought, I thought it was great idea. I was. I happily showed up for It's a cool idea that and then were doing. When that first sports MMA came out, they had the live commentary for like you know, pay per views or whatever like that was a rat idea. Yeah. I learned a lot of dumb stuff happening on the three sixty. I would like to see more of that. Let's see. Adam from south lyon Mischigan. Do you think Microsoft and Sony would ever institute a refund system for digital purchases like steam has? I bought home Front Revolution and after about twenty minutes of garbage frame rate and boring story on my high end PC, I couldn't get to the refund page fast enough. I've had this feeling many times on my consoles as well, But there is no recourse there for digital purchasers. I think that they would only add them if they were legally obligated to do so or I don't see anybody holding their feet to the fire in a way that would, you know, Like, it's great that Steam has it, and it would be cool if if that was an option totally, like the the concept of like getting your money back because of like qualitative problems with the game or any any album, yeah game. I mean that stuff got a little weird when you know it pertained to shorter games from smaller developers like you have people kind of taken advantage of that system. Sure in a sense, but like the sentiment of it I think is smart. Yep, totally, it would be great to see that everywhere else. Yes, but probably don't hold your breath, have you Guys? I ever had to try and do or like get a refund through PSN or I have not really? Yeah, okay, I was able to do it once. I accidentally bought like a p S three version of a PS four game, and they were surprisingly helpful. They just credited my account. But I wonder, I wonder if that had anything to do with you, say, well, I was gonna say, like saying that you wanted to buy the other version as opposed to just get the money back. Yeah, potentially, I guess so, because you're still going to give them money one way or the other, more money in that case. Yeah, did they give you a actual monetary refund or do they give you like store credit? Okay, yeah, yeah, the money is already there. Yeah, so I think that's even like you know, oh, like that was like the wee thing, right, if you're we got stolen, Yeah, you're done, they would give you or you know, you're three at three dssure like when they give you like points cars it stolen. I thought thought it was only if it was like bricked and they had to replace it. Maybe that's what I was like, if you you couldn't prove that it had been taken or I got send it to them and they couldn't, I'd swear. I remember people saying, like telling stories of like having to send Intendo a police report, right, like proving that it had actually been stolen and that they would have mercy on you. Then. I don't know, it seems crazy, but again, yeah, it's the same company. This is the same company that asked people to send their sd cards to Japan to have their save files fixed, right, Yeah, anything's possible. Paul from Palo Alto this question is primarily for Brad, Jeff, and Dan. Looking at online fan feedback these days, I think it can be boiled down to most games being either the best thing since penicillin or a blatant war crime. Granted this as a vocal minority, but it's easy to draw these lines. I'm curious if you guys could provide a snapshot of fan feedback during the nineties and early two thousands. Were video game fans more susceptible to the pr machine before a wider spread of the Internet, or was it just as polarizing back then. It's always been polarizing. Yeah, yeah, I mean, but I think that, you know, like the tenor of it, the fervor of it has gotten worse. Yeah, I would agree with both of those, but I just think it also you could apply it to everything now, like everything, any entertainment, any movie trailer. Yeah. Yeah, politics is terrible, Like like, yes, a team sports mentality has been applied to literally everything that can be yeah, split into teams. Yeah, I mean something that would have been you know, just on the recess court or whatever back and you know, when Mortal Kombat came out or something. Now it's just every comment section you know, everyone's got to have a huge overreaction, hyperpolely at everything, whether it's how much they hate it or how much they like it, and it's it's maybe even the impact of Twitter on society is that everyone just talks shorter, which means you don't have room for nuance. Yeah, and so it just becomes the best thing ever, are the worst thing ever? Starting with dislike Twitter, it's real bad. And again I'll also, you know, everyone like tribalizes and moves further to one end of the spectrum or the other, and like it just becomes like, well, I only have one hundred forty characters here to like do this, So I'm just gonna like say what this is and then at the end, right want yeah and then yeah, and then my work here is done. Well, hey, now you can retweet yourself. So I've been retweeting myself for days. Sure, I'm sure that will everything. You always use the example of automotive automotive enthusiasts. Yes, the Calvin peeing on the Forward or ford On found on Road Dead. There was, Yes, there was a story recently. It was a deplorable story about like some people interfered with I think it was a baby bison in the National Park. Okay, Like they basically loaded into the back of their car and drove it to the ranger station because they thought it looked cold. Sure. Uh and in the process is smart And in the process of doing this, the mother rejected the offspring and they had to euthanize it. Anyway, it was it was an awful story. I didn't read that part of this. Yeah, they ended up having euthanizing because the mother wouldn't wouldn't accept it after they returned to the wild. Anyway, the first fucking comment on that new story I saw, like they mentioned off handedly in the new story that they had like loaded it into a super U out back. First fucking comment, well, they were driving a Subaru. Of course, they're not real real off roaders or whatever. It's just fucking. That was the moment. That was the moment I knew the society is beyond redemption. Probably yeah, yeah, you can just get out the internet and look at Twitter less and then that helps a lot. Yes, enjoy these end times. Let's see, man, a lot of bathroom emails coming in. Okay, cool and related that. I mean, we made our own bed right now. We have to lie in it. I don't know. I wasn't here last week. I don't know what what you guys did. My bid day is awesome. We made our own spoil it. No, we have to sit on it. I was. Is it fantastic? Although I'll say the one thing I noticed, keep in mind, this is a twenty dollars biday. I installed it. Fine, there's no leaks or anything. But the only other days I've used were in Japan, and I realized that most of those were heated, so that's a bit different. Yeah, but yeah, pressure and everything. Good stuff really does its job. Well take some getting used to. Yeah, but it's it's it's a cold shot right when it comes in. Did you say you installed this? Is it a free standing thing that's next to your toilet? Did you install attachment? Okay, so there was a it's a toilet seat with a hose in it kind of okay, there's there was a group on for a thirty dollars biday that's normally one hundred dollars. And then I found a kinda deal's code for an extra ten dollars a twenty dollars biday I could not pass up. It's cheap day. Yes, it is. So I had to take the seat off completely, and then there's this little slider thing like on the side, there's like a little panel with it's just a knob for pressure or whatever. And then you put that there. You put the toilet seat on top of that, and then you screw back through there. And you got to put these things on the bottom and screw back in. And then there's a whole valve thing that you have to like turn your water off. You have to unscrew that, put it into the three way valve thing, you know, attach all that did the same valve the toilet water comes in from. Yeah, okay, yeah, so yeah that'd be cold. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, all right, but not a deal breaker. Yeah, still using it? Oh yeah, okay, I just got excited to use it. Which never I have to poop at home now. I used to dread it. I used to always try to poop in Walmart's or targets or whatever. Now I poop in my own house. It's great, it's good. It's good. Water cleans my butt. Right now. I don't I don't even want to know. I don't even want I don't even ask, just move on. This is our fault. Adam from Michigan. As I follow up to the email in the May seventeenth show about the brushing of teeth and a shared work bathroom, how about when someone is talking on the phone while others are using the bathos. This is the one case where I wish I could summon loud discussing diarrhea at will. Wrong with someone face timing at a yurinal A couple of weeks ago in this building floor, this one the bathroom that we use on a regular basis. I went in there to use it and someone was face timing at a urinal, like holding it up at face. No, they weren't doing anything too crazy, mean, check this out. I'm peeing a lot. Look, huh. I probably told this before, but in this bathroom. I remember once I was pooping and I went to screenshot a I don't know, a tweet or something to send to someone, and my vibrate was off, and so it just made the case somebody was at the urinal. Was like, great, they think I'm either taking a picture of my penis or my poop. So cool. But at least then you're in a stall and you can wait it out for them to leave and then maybe they won't know it was you gotta hide your shoes. Yeah, I gotta put your shoes up. Yeah yeah, yeah, I know your shoes. Yeah yeah. All right. Chris from downs Grove, Illinois, I know your shoes too, and I'm glad to have that explanation. Yeah yeah, yeah, chrisize another bathroom. That question regarding dropping things in the toilet? Have you ever dropped something in the toilet that you had to fish out? Have you ever fished out on item to the toilet that had wasted it? You dropped a very important item wedding ring, keys, guitar pick used by prince, et cetera, in the toilet and that had waste in it? How do you recover this item? You just get it? Yeah, you wash your fucking hands, like being adult about this. If it's something that you want back, get it and wash your fucking hands. You need to get gloves, but like it makes it hard, keep some latex gloves around. You can put one of those on. Like. There are people out there that work in the septic industry that deal with shit all day long. There are people that are parents of young children who deal with it all day long. You know what, they're still standing, just reaching the fucking toilet thoughts. Well, no, I don't think I have personally dropped in anything on the toilet like that. But a guy got kicked out of my dorm freshman year at college because he was high, I think, went into the bathroom and there was the biggest turred I think any of us had ever seen too to date. It was like Chipotle burrito sized and he grabbed it with his bare hand, put it as you do, yeah, put it in an empty pringles Can. I love, this is great. I love where this is going. This is great. Did not like most of the people on the sixth floor. We lived on the eighth floor. So he took the poop pringles Can, went down put it in the middle of the lobby, which I don't remember. What happened with the poop can. I don't know if someone opened it up. I mean it would have been very, very heavy. But then got naked. I think he was really high. Okay, yeah, this is taking a turn. It might have been on mushrooms or something. And then ran downstairs to the front desk where you know Ra's worked there, completely naked, laid face down, on the tile and just started slapping his ass until they called the cops and he got kicked out of the door. I think he might have been high on something else. I mean it was probably like mushrooms. He was kind of nuts anyway. Okay, so all right, he's smoking scherm, maybe straight up angel dust. I don't know what happened with the Yeah, what's his name, Bucky? I know it's Adam. That's actually a super frustrating story. Not knowing what happened to the pringles can. Yeah, I kind of question. They popped the top and it just like jumped out of I was gonna say, yeah, like, did you get the like snake spring can know pringles thing like that's pneumatic pringles cans that just spray out whatever's in him. That's a way worse situation. Yeah, yeah, it was a really big turt Yeah, I'm sure, I guess. I guess I should read this last one. Yeah, it's from Save in Manchester. I thought I would share a recent traumatic experience I had over the weekend. My fiance was away and I decided to order pizza. When the delivery guy got to the door, he very politely asked if he could use my bathroom. I wouldn't usually say yes, but he put me on the spot, so I panicked and said yes. I showed him where the toilet was, closed my living room and bedroom door, and waited for him to finish. I never actually heard him use the toilet, just lots of toilet paper, rolling around and flushing. It was very nervous at this point. When he finished and he said I owe you one and left, I went into my bathroom and to my horror, I discovered a small pebble of shit on the floor. I immediately bleached the bathroom floor and cleaned the toilet. Then I threw the food away, called the food place and put in a complaint with his manager and got my money back. I think he shoot himself before he got to my flat, trying to take something positive away from the experience, so I didn't just feel like a complete idiot for letting him in. It could have been much worse, and it was a pretty big learning experience. Needless to say, I will never do that again. Really, I mean, he did the guy solid. Yeah, Yeah, he said, so that guy did him a solid yeah. I mean as a delivery driver, like I've heard stories of like my dad was a mailman for like ten years. Yeah, and sometimes you gotta people in a mailbox. Yeah, sometimes you gotta pee in your comp Terras casino lunch box in the back of your mail truck. Okay, all right. Sometimes it sounds like there are some emergency situations where central area and he doesn't want to inconvenience a toilet. Okay, so he's got his people aren't home during the day. Yeah, I was gonna say, a mailbox is not necessarily of the appropriate angle to you just gotta you just gotta back up to it. I have a lot of angle, like a squirts earth thing. If that guy shit himself prior to getting to the house though, Yeah, like you delivered to the pizza, you go to a public restroom like at a gas station or something like that, I don't think that I would ask to use especially if you're not going to be discreet about it, right, Well, he probably intended to be discreet about it and then messed up spot was not through. That's a tough one. I sympathize. I don't know that I would bleach the floor in that situation. Like that's the part where I'm like, I get I get the idea that you want to like, you know, burn out whatever happened there. But at the same time, like I had a change hotel rooms in Dallas once because a guy that looked like Ben Franklin came in and used me and my roommates toilet and flood of it and at like poop water on the floor. So the hotel, why did you let Ben Franklin in your hotel? I was asking my friend Charlie about this not too long ago, because he seemed to remember more about it than me, and he said that some guy that looks like Ben Franklin just knocked on her door. He's like, I really need to use the bathroom, and we're like all right, We're like eighteen, comes in, poops, floods it and we had to move. Wow, I don't know at a hotel he didn't have his I'm sure that your friend Charlie didn't do this and then blame it on Ben Franklin. I don't think Charlie would have done that. I have flooded Charlie's toilet before, but I've never known Charlie to flood toilet. Good to know. Let's let's move on, yeah, to a cleaner topic, pachinko. TJ from Sacramento, Hey, guys, having listened to you guys for a while, now I know a few things I wanted to see you all in Japan, like the Robot restaurant and super Potato enjoyed. I enjoyed both tremendously. Now there's pachinko. I couldn't fully understand it. While I was walking down a street in Akihabara and the door opened, there came a sound that could only be described as a metallic waterfall. Yes. Yeah, I did go inside and tried to stay as long as my ears could endure. I would assume the guys with the most crates of metal balls were the ones doing well. So my question, you guy is, is how does one play pachinko. I'm sure I could look it up, but I'd rather hear Reikert's answer, followed by the rest of the podcasts. Oh, I don't have any idea. I've walked through those things and you hear the sounds, and it looks like some confusing form of slots. I don't know if they're skill involved. I don't think there's You want these balls to go in specific holes? Yeah, it's like a pranco thing. Yeah, okay. The main reason I wanted to know about this is there is zero skill. Well everything, like some particular machines move and so when you you decide when the balls come out, so you want to like look and see, Oh if I turn it just now, it's in the right positions. But yeah, so it's like one of the quarter things at like an arcade where the quarter will go down a little slide. Yes, it is like a smoking token machine. Okay, all right for smoking token extreme. The follow up that had two wheels, oh jeez, yeah, overlapping I think it was two was side by side. Oh okay. The only chinking machine I've ever had any interaction with had a knob sort of like when you launch a pinball, you can pull back the plunger further to get more forced. This one, you could turn the knob a little bit to shoot the balls out at a low rate, or crank it all the way to shoot at a high rate, and then by that token you could shoot the ball further into the plinko zone or not as far ulinko zone the zone, and then once you got it in one of those holes, the display would do like a slot machine thing. And then and I don't know if this actually did anything, but occasionally a screen would pop up with like two symbols, and then there was same symbols on this machine, like alpha and beta, and I think pressing one of the buttons you chose something. It was all, you know, in Japanese. I couldn't really tell what was happening. But and then terry board appears, Yeah, choose your inn adventure. Yeah. I feel like with the Plinko type thing, at least it feels like you have some agency, whereas a slot machine is just pure random chance. At least with the Plinko type thing, it's like, oh, okay, I'm putting it over here. Maybe that's right. There are so many means are not even pure random chance. There's percentages of payouts and like those things are all and Mario Party yeah, and kind of basically it knows that you're going to lose before you do. Okay, slot machines are losing, Yeah, looses slots, as is Mario Party. M can you gamble on that on Mario Party. We start gambling on Mario Party every teaching in the balance, every single time. A couple more emails here Sean from Brooklyn. For six days a week, my ears are forced to listen to replays of the Howard Stern Show while heading into work each morning. My friend is a huge fan, and a forty five minute drive is better than a nearly hour and a half subway ride from Queens to Brooklyn, so I begrudgingly don't say anything about his favorite radio show. Personally, I hate the show, and although I appreciated Sterns show from a distance in the past, I've noticed how out of touch the King of all media is now as Kings of all marios. Are any of you nervous that as the show gets older, you'll be out of touch with your audience. Yeah, I guess we're just gonna do us and will be the last to know, right, right, people stop showing up. I guess that's that's when you find out. Sure, I think you have used you have used the phrase old man video game journalism in the past, yeah, which is like slightly chilling. But think about when it becomes old man YouTube, Like, you know, when the people with YouTube channels are suddenly yeah, you know, well into their forties or something and start doing that, Like, how does that go, how does that go for them? I hope good because you know, yeah, I'm approaching that. Yeah, I mean we're gonna have to pivot into that. Yeah any day now, So start doing ads for depends and yeah, IM right, Uh yeah. Howard Stern is a weird thing. Like that show seems like it became like it always was to a certain extent, but every time I hear bits and pieces of it now it just seems like increasingly the show has become about Howard Stern. Where does it used to be? Like, you know, it was a traditional interview show and he was just kind of outrageous, needed their comedy bits. Like it's a pretty standard morning show format, right, it was the blueprint in some ways, And now it's like I never understood because people that I really respect seemed to like him a lot, like Letterman likes him a lot. Whenever he's on Chris Rock. I think one said, oh, if he took all of his best bits down or whatever, and you know, made of the stand up roteam could be the best comic of all time. And every like I've never actually listened to a show, but like every time I've ever seen a click or heard something it's always just like some girls on he's like, oh, sure your boots, Like I never really know what you're speaking out those clips. Oh okay, you know, Like no, but there are yes, there are like his first book, his first book part it is actually really good. Yeah, and yeah, I actually thought the movie was really it seems like he's had an interesting life for sure. I just I guess I have not seen any glimpses of this genius that a lot of I think that the people that were on that show when it was kind of at its like most relevant, like around that period when the book was coming out and that sort of stuff he's doing, like his kind of listen America pay per view. Yeah, probably something like that. Uh, Like it was quite good, uh and yeah like it, you know. But also it was a five hour show, so the I like every day you know, so like listening to that, Yeah, it's you know, you're not gonna be able to fill five hours with gold every single year. Yeah, if you, if you took it and distilled it, there are bits along the way you're like, this is actually really funny there or there are actually like people on that show that are funny in the moment and interesting interviews, like he's not a bad interview. Yeah, I've always believed all this just because of Again Letterman and Chris Rock, right, you know. But you know, like, yeah, I have satellite radio, so I can still listen to it here and there and I don't. But when I'm flipping through channels and my most board in the most traffic, like it's a it is a Howard Stern station that just replays the show of twenty four hours a day or something. So is he similar to like an Adam Carolla. No, No, he's way better than an Iam Corolla. Uh, he kind of you know, like Adam Carolla. I think probably is like chasing that blueprint a little bit to a certain extent in spots. But I guess Corolla is like he's doing just podcast stuff now, right, Yeah, yeah, so because of like what is radio now anyway, Jackie the joke man was pretty good. So it's a character. Did he have some jokes? That's It's so this is like an actual comic. It's not like Howard Stern. No, No, it's just this dude Jackie who was on the show, like one of the writers that was also like there was there's a cast of characters to that show. You know, it's not just Howard Stern. It was like four or five people. And then there's this kind of extended family of nut cases that would call in. And is that what bob Ba Boue is. No, he's the producer of the show. Oh okay, it's Robin still in there, I think so, I don't know already lying? Probably not? No, I don't know. I thought he's sobered up. Well, yeah, it's gonna say, how is how is Alredy lying? Still going? I have no idea. He's great and Dirty Work? Yes, I also like Dirty Works. That blue ray has not gone down in price. I'm trying to get it. I'm trying to upgrade my whole DVD collection. Dirty Work is one of the hold outs because that's an expensive blue ray. But is it it's like twenty six bucks? Wow, I have it on DVD. Also, you're just gonna have to do that again when four K becomes a big thing. Yeah. I just got done upgrading I think my entire DVD collection to blue ray. So that's great. It never ends. Please, they just send him the the blue ray. Yeah, make him work for it. Twice six dollars don't. Yeah, I've got I've got one last email. It might be a little touchy. Brandon from Pennsylvania makes a convincing, impassioned case for why Uncharted four is a big rip off of National Trip or two. Let's heart, Have any of us seen National Treasure took? The last couple you're get to talk about on Darty four? The last couple of items on this list are more marked spoiler. Then don't say them. Yeah, but they're part of that, They're part of his case. Uh No, man, all right, it's two new, and it's two new. I'll read what's not labeled a spoiler. I just felt finished playing through on Charted four, and all I can say is what the fuck? I picked up the game because reviews have been raving about it's wonderful storytelling and unique plot, only to discover that the entire plot is ripped straight out of hit two thousand and seven film National Treasure two Book of Secrets starring Nick Cage. I no, it sounds crazy, but hear me out. Mild spoilers head both Uncharted four and a National Treasure two feature as the main antagonist, a born rich black market antiques dealer who sees this treasure as his chance to make a mark on history. Both Knick Cage and Nathan Drake's marriages begin to deteriorate over the course of the movie, but the adventure ultimately brings them closer together. Both movie end game introduced the main characters Mom for the first time, whose knowledge of history becomes the vehicle through which the plot gets moving. Both movie and game feature a scene where the characters are stuck on a giant teeter totter over a pit of death, where a character pushes an object on to one end to let the last character on the device escape. Both games like weirdly specific Yeah. Both game and movie feature the antagonist hacking the main character's phone in order to spy on them, and this ultimately leads to the antagonist getting a copy of the map to the treasure. Both feature a scene where Nathan Drake slash Nick Cage stick their hand elbow deep into a hole in order to pull a switch, and everyone thinks it's a trap, but it turns out not to be a trap. There are two more very specific points on this list that refer to the end of the game that I've heard enough that I guess I won't read it's heard enough. Maybe it was originally evidence. Maybe it was originally supposed to be the game version of the film. They lost the rights at the last second. Was like, hey, we got some Nathan Drake stuff over here, but gonna throw that. They weren't going to make another charge. Yeah, yeah, sudden it was just like, yeah, they were gonna make National Treasure to the game. Yeah, yeah, of course, yeah. He just he just says, there you have it. The grinding raking plot of Uncharted four is actually just the plot of a film. When they Wrotten Tomatoes score of thirty five percent, that evidence that actually sounds about right for most video game storytelling. Yeah, that it's the rough equivalent of National Treasure too. Yeah, if I should see those movies. I like Nicolas Cage when he's at his most Nicolas Cage, and from everything I've heard, it sounds like that's a big, dumb Nicholas Cage movie. Really, I'd kind of like to see that. I have felt similarly. I remember laking the first one. Yeah, plus, you can Nicholas Cage're saying I gotta steal the Declaration of Independence. It's pretty good. It sounds pretty was that was that in the middle of his run of like ioe the Irs a whole bunch of money. I need to do everything I can. Oh Nicholas's life start of it? Yeah, okay, there's that just been an ongoing thing. I mean it was. This was I think before a season of the Witch, before before his tax tenant too, his tax troubles began. Didn't he live in a pyramid for a while and then the I RS took it or got a fifth fight in New Orleans? That sounds like something. Yeah, I think he owned a pyramid or a sarcophagus at some point that he slept in. He named his child after Superman. Yeah. Yeah, I've been in New Orleans a few times and most bars on Bourbon Street have framed photos of Nicholas Cage being drunk in that bar. Great, So if anyone goes to New Orleans, take a look for those. Sounds like a fun vacation tour of y Cage watering holes, some of them having multiple pictures of him wearing different clothes at the arm. He just couldn't stay away. You guys gonna do the film in forties of a national treasure like a Cajun cours. Oh man, let's good work. Right off the top of the head. I'm way yeah, I'm down. They only make the two watched U bad Lieutenant New Orleans. Yeah, we could do a cage and cage and cool bobcast a jib on you address. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. You just do it. That's it for Emails's it for the show two fifths. If this room is sick, the other the other three, the other three fifths is going to be on their way. Wait, it's gonna be five fifth after after three hours in here together, room is nice and infected. All right. Well, stuff's happening on the site this week. A lot of the three planning is proceeding. Yeah, but I still try to get some stuff going book at show guests in the meantime. Yep, what the hell are we doing this?
