Speaker 1: Reality with the King is hosted by me, Carlos King. I'm an executive producer who have produced some of your favorite shows from the Real Housewives in Atlanta, New Jersey and my own creation, The Love and Marriage Franchise and Bell Collective. Every episode we recap reality television from the Real Housewives Franchise to The Bachelor or Selling Sunset, in addition to celebrity guests, whether in the unscripted space or scripted as well. Merriti Medicine Reunion Okay, that's coming this upcoming Sunday.

00:00:43
Speaker 2: The reunion trailer.

00:00:44
Speaker 3: Has been released listed in my opinion as a Meriti Medicine stand I am the biggest fan of Meriti Medicine based on that trailer.

00:00:57
Speaker 2: The star of.

00:00:58
Speaker 3: The trailer, it's Steve. Steve is the husband of doctor Mimi and Steve is activated and gave a lot of great moments in that trailer that blew me away.

00:01:23
Speaker 2: Started with you, Dustin.

00:01:24
Speaker 3: What were your thoughts on the Maritime Medicine Reunion.

00:01:27
Speaker 4: Trailer, master class and how to show up and show out at the damn reunion. I believe this is a two part reunion. I'm totally fine with that. That means that they're going to be two packed episodes for a lot of twists and turns, which is much more entertaining than watching a bunch of boring bullshit. So I'm happy that they're doing it that way. I think that everybody showed up. The reunion trailer looks incredible. Quid Andoya our first chair, which is new. Typically Doctor Jackie and Doctor Simon are always first shared, So that alone lets me know that this reunion is going to have a certain type of energy. You got them two fire starters in the motherfucking first seats.

00:02:07
Speaker 5: You know what time is going to be.

00:02:10
Speaker 4: Like I said, Brandy is showing up in the reunion trailer talking to Kintessa, and I actually saw an extended peak of the reunion online today where there was a you saw that that exchanged between Brandy and Kintessa. Brandy wasn't playing with Kntessa at all. And Contessa the veteran that she is both literally and figuratively right in this case, but she's a she's a reality TV vet, and so she had a level of composure that you can only only attain when you've done this more than once. You know what I'm saying, and Your seasons. Kintesla appears seasoned in their exchange, but Brandy won and that's good for a new cast member, so I'm excited to see more of that. Also, in the sneak peak, we saw Steve Sanders, Steve motherfucking Sanders tearing up Eugene's Harris in that trailer, and in the extended clip we really saw for the fact that he absolutely stuck that Louis Vatanshu in the crack of Eugene's ass, and it was well deserved because Eugene was trying to check him and trying to like stoke the flames with doing and saying things. I'm not gonna spoil it for people that haven't seen that clip yet, because if you don't, you'll see it in the episode on Sunday. But Steve is here to stay. Him and doctor Mimi are a great addition to the show. I want to see what the new house looks like next year, so I'm excited and I'm ready for this reunion.

00:03:27
Speaker 6: Claudia Jordan, I did not see the trailer yet, but now I will go watch the extended reunion. I mean the trailer, but I will say this from the commentary of the comments I've been seing online, people saying the reunion looks even better than the season. Yes, that's how exciting people are for so I'm super looking forward to it, though, so don't said everything anyways.

00:03:49
Speaker 4: Remind me to send you the links of that of those preview clips, Claudia that's not in the trailer, because I want you to see what's coming next week.

00:03:56
Speaker 5: You're gonna be like, you'll see.

00:03:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's definitely crazy and love. We all know that that cast always delivers. But one thing that was so fresh was the fact that you know, like Justin said, that show has been off for twelve seasons, and doctor Jackie and doctor Simon have office, have first chair because the show is about doctors. This season is Toya and Quad, which to me signals once again that we saw Potomac.

00:04:32
Speaker 2: It signals a new wave of what that show could be.

00:04:38
Speaker 3: And one thing that they also tease Claudia and this trailer was whether or not this will be Doctor Heavenly's last season if she does become a congresswoman, And.

00:04:49
Speaker 6: You know, the primary, she's up against a really old member of like someone that really is in his eighties in a wheelchair doesn't really make many public appearances. No disrespect to his life legacy, but there there are people are really talking a lot about term limits, and you know, if you're not able to be as effective, she has a good chance of.

00:05:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, because it sounds like he won't even hear it if she say your mama. So so that's good. At least her opponent won't even hear her if he if she said your mama to him, she's gonna whisper it at the debate on that podium.

00:05:22
Speaker 5: She's gonna cover the MinC your mama.

00:05:26
Speaker 2: I don't know. I didn't.

00:05:26
Speaker 6: I didn't. I didn't pay at union of the primary. I know, I don't. They had their I thought they had their primary. I gotta look. Yeah, but damn.

00:05:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, mama may the fucking mama.

00:05:39
Speaker 5: Yes, and my constitutes. You know she's gonna be right off.

00:05:42
Speaker 6: Wouldn't it be dope if she won on the show.

00:05:47
Speaker 5: Yeah, it would be great.

00:05:49
Speaker 6: I mean, why not. Look if we got in the White House now, but Pete Hexas, it's all reality started, will not even really start.

00:05:54
Speaker 5: This is reality people, What I mean?

00:05:56
Speaker 4: We have a McMahon and what's the others. Yeah, what's the other one that looked like a little bat that was over the over the educate the Department of Education.

00:06:07
Speaker 6: Uh yeah, yes, spells everything wrong.

00:06:12
Speaker 4: Dumb, stupid. Yeah, so you're right, the bar's love. If I was heavily though, my campaign slogan.

00:06:18
Speaker 5: Would have been your mama.

00:06:20
Speaker 4: Yeah running, she's a health care professionally, I'm here for you and your mama. Okay, everybody saying that, let me show you what I mean. My campaign slogan would be your mama.

00:06:33
Speaker 6: Okay, and never mind, never thank.

00:06:37
Speaker 2: You Claudia for behaving.

00:06:49
Speaker 6: I want you to meet it. You can say it.

00:06:52
Speaker 2: Listen, y'all getting stupped in real time.

00:06:55
Speaker 3: Let me see claud has to say.

00:07:04
Speaker 5: Hold on, let me look.

00:07:06
Speaker 6: No.

00:07:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, but you can't say that friend, like leave.

00:07:25
Speaker 6: Some blanks and make it feel in the blank.

00:07:30
Speaker 5: Lead you. You got it out.

00:07:35
Speaker 2: That's why.

00:07:36
Speaker 3: That's why rain drops drops. That's why I have a special announcement where Claudia may be able to really say things and dustin to tonight. I gotta spare hert just a lit so bit all right, hood journalist, I love you, by the way, She's a Patreon rain drop hate hood journalist.

00:07:56
Speaker 2: She watches everything on Patreon. Love you all right, say it?

00:08:00
Speaker 6: Say it? CJ. I can't, y'all, y'all have to go.

00:08:04
Speaker 4: I mean, Claudia, you we are listening.

00:08:10
Speaker 3: The good thing is we are really your friends.

00:08:16
Speaker 5: No after that a little bit, right, So if that's the case.

00:08:24
Speaker 2: Hey, bathta Okay.

00:08:26
Speaker 3: So one thing that I want us to get into, so listen, we're gonna talk about my e J.

00:08:33
Speaker 2: Johnson interview, So Rain Johns.

00:08:37
Speaker 3: We're gonna get into that a second. But before that, I do want to talk about what could be another end of an era. We just saw a few weeks ago that Basketball Wives was officially canceled.

00:08:53
Speaker 2: Claudia on Patreon, you can say anything on there. We will wait say it.

00:08:56
Speaker 3: Then, my fellow April b Mika Smith, you are, but stay tuned, okay.

00:09:03
Speaker 6: If my employer doesn't want me to say anything.

00:09:06
Speaker 2: That, I won't stay tuned for a new announcement. Okay.

00:09:11
Speaker 3: One thing that I want to get into rob before we discussed e. J. Johnson interview is Mama Dee revealed that Love and Hip Hop Atlanta may not be coming back. It has been something that we've heard from Chaotic, who was a cast member on the show, and.

00:09:30
Speaker 2: It's been something that we've been hearing here and there.

00:09:33
Speaker 3: Mama Dee went live on Saturday and mentioned it.

00:09:38
Speaker 2: You know, it's what's happening in this industry. We talked about this before.

00:09:45
Speaker 3: Its this industry just ain't the same anymore. We just learned that Access Hollywood, Steve Willco's show, our friend Caroama Brownmo.

00:09:57
Speaker 2: Their talk shows got canceled.

00:09:59
Speaker 3: We also just learned that Taler Perry sold the twenty five percent ownership he had in BT Plus to Paramount because Paramount owns all of by comp which includes BT and they're not going to consolidate BT plus into Paramount Streaming.

00:10:16
Speaker 2: So look, this industry is changing.

00:10:17
Speaker 3: So Love and Hip Hop Atlanta is rumored to not be coming back, based on Mama D's latest post two. Claudia, what are your thoughts on that, especially as a current cast member on Love and Hip Hop Miami.

00:10:31
Speaker 6: I just do guess appearances.

00:10:34
Speaker 2: You're not the opening act. This is the like, this is the life.

00:10:40
Speaker 6: I get a hero, but I am in the mix the second part when it returns in April. I do have scenes where I'm kind of you know, I'm stirring a little sun so.

00:10:50
Speaker 2: Anyways, I have an usive interview dropping in April.

00:10:54
Speaker 3: When Carlos you know, it's somebody that you may know when.

00:11:01
Speaker 6: Well a beginning, middle end, beginning, okay, good, okay, Yeah, I mean I'm surprised that they would have like that one will get the word that is canceled before the other one, because I think that was the strong that's always been the strongest one. I always thought that Atlanta was the strongest one, you know, even for nostalgia purposes, you know what I mean. Like, you know, I've been working on love and hip hop Miami, and we've been hearing that for a while and I keep asking and like, well, not really, but then someone kind of said, look at the writing on the wall and they are closing things down, Like so I do know that, uh, people are starting to look elsewhere for the next thing. And plus they start back in March usually March, I'm sorry, May usually and right now, yeah, I'm sorry. Miami usually starts back in May. Last we did last year, so they wouldn't like at this point in the game, they would at least be sending offer letters out and be negotiating for the next season. So I think that I think they're getting rid of all of them. Uh yes, guy dances taken over, right, they taking up everything. Everybody black is becoming a casualty of this. Uh this anti woke, which is the anti black work work. They don't care. They're not prioritizing black shows. And I think it's discussing what's happening to black media. Was that anything leaning to the left, and that it's not like something like the seven hundred Club or maga Ish like it's it's really going. It's hard, right, and it's it's it's sad. So we have to lean onto the YouTube, the Patreons stuff that you're doing, Carlos kind only make your own products stuff. Now is the time if you want to do a talk show, take it over to YouTube, make all the money, take up the middleman. There's still avenues so far. I mean hopefully they don't do anything on YouTube. But yeah, it's it's yeah, I think it's over with.

00:12:43
Speaker 3: And before I get disgustin Claudia, I do want to ask you this. You obviously happen again in the Hollywood game for a very long time. A lot of people really don't understand how serious this is and the reason why I wanted to ask you this question first before I get to Dustin, is you've seen the ebbs and flows of this industry. We've all seen it collectively with the music industry growing up in this business. But you, being a television bet, what do you see happening? Because I don't think people understand that the reality shows that used to be a cheaper product is now being sacrificed to have other content on these networks as well.

00:13:35
Speaker 2: Like talk to them about what you think is really happening.

00:13:40
Speaker 6: I have survived for three decades in this business through writer strikes, actors strikes, all kinds of things where we thought that, Okay, we're devastated right now, but we've always come back. There has always been a consideration for black programming. And this I'm telling you guys right now, this is different than anything I've ever seen in my thirty years. They are blatantly doing it. They've removed shame from banning black people, from kicking black people out out of their jobs executives all the way to TV shows and radio. I mean it is big businesses are consolidating there. I mean, look at radio shows like before they be like hundreds of local radio shows where you know, like you'd be a squad of four people hosting a morning show in Dallas and Chattanooga and New York City. Now you got like three or four syndicated shows, and they put them, they wire them into all the different cities. Everyone's consolidating, so five or six families or companies make all the money and then everybody else just scrambles. This is different than any I am nervous. I am scared. This is nothing like that we've ever seen. So we have to just I mean, black people will used to figuring it out and trying to figure out new ways. But I'm scared. Like when they the last few things we have left is YouTube, and they already messed up TikTok, where people aren't making the money they used to. They are really doing a number on us right now. This is different. I don't know how we get through this. First of all, they're not funding movies that they used to even to be like I hear that like the deals they would give before, like they're getting less generous with the like maybe it would be a fifty fifty split, now it's seventy thirty and not faving the director or the artist it's it's going to force a lot of people to have to get out of this business unfortunately. Yeah, breakfast club and podcasts moving to Netflix, that means taking the stuff off of YouTube and like making you have to have a Netflix account. Like they're just taking more and more stuff away from us. So I now more than every I know, I'm going along, but I just have to just make a point of this. We've said this before. You've got to support the black outlets, the black content creators, the black companies, the people that are providing a voice, and then social media, y'all better going our fan base or one of these other black owned companies fan base. The way they are targeting black creators and people that speak out against this war, this government say, certain countries that don't rock with they are silencing their voices. So before we can't tell each other where to all go tell you people. Now, go meet me on YouTube, go meet me on fan base. You have to because listen, these white people are not given it. Not all I'm talking about the racist ones. They are not giving a damn about all arts. I mean, Trump's renamed the Kennedy Center. They do that. Other fellow wife folks like they are coming for everybody, so take it seriously, y'all. It's gonna be real bad for the next few years. It really is. Sorry, I know that's how I went on a ramp, but I.

00:16:36
Speaker 2: Said, I want to know.

00:16:38
Speaker 3: I wanted you to really speak to it because it's serious, and I'll share my two cents too, but I want to hear from Dustin first. Dustin, you are the connoisseur of all things media. What are your thoughts on this happening?

00:16:52
Speaker 4: Well, we're living it's so much misinformation going around right now.

00:16:55
Speaker 5: We're living in the age of.

00:16:56
Speaker 4: Misinformation, some intention of some accident on something just stupid. Clia just mentioned how Trump took over to Kennedy Center after ruining it and making everybody that was scheduled to perform there. That's worth a damn cancel only to ruin it, tank it.

00:17:11
Speaker 5: It's not making any money.

00:17:12
Speaker 4: There is absolutely a number attached to all of this madness because in his taking over of TikTok, he has now just decided that he's owed a ten billion dollar fee for saving TikTok, So that's coming his way to ten billion dollars.

00:17:26
Speaker 5: So I think it's pretty clear what that's all about.

00:17:28
Speaker 4: But speaking of misinformation, I didn't even know if the love and Hip Hop cancelation was real because it came from Mama D.

00:17:35
Speaker 5: And the last time I seen Mama D.

00:17:37
Speaker 4: Which was like two days ago, she was participating in a senior tork contest on the internet at somebody's concert. And the way that she was rifthing and convulsing and contorting her body, I was concerned about her. I didn't know if she was seizing or if she was cramping or what was going on, the way that she was moving so sporadically at tight in a ninety degree angles that her joints had been in, and shit, it was obtuse angles. It was you know, yeah, it was a lot of Isoceles triangles, and shit that her the shapes that her limbs were making that I know had not been created in quite some time. And so when she finally stopped, I had to catch my breath for a minute, because once she stopped moving, I had to make sure she moved the next time. And so once she stood up, I was like, okay, okay, So I didn't know the way Mama did just be lying and talking shit. Sometimes it's not unlike her to just spew something out that isn't factual. But now that Claudia, my dear friend, has shined this light on it, then there's something to be concerned about, which is why I don't like it when people there's this new thing where people.

00:18:44
Speaker 5: Try to like shame Love and hip Hop.

00:18:47
Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, to act like the people on Love and Hip Hop is something wrong with them, And I don't understand why because love it or hated, I think it doesn't have to be your cup of tea. But there's a lot of black producers, black talent, black camera, black crew, there's a lot of people that that franchise because it's more than one show employs and has employed continually.

00:19:07
Speaker 5: Say what you want.

00:19:07
Speaker 4: But Kirk and Rashida been working since season one over there, and they're making good money. Her other businesses have thrived and been able to because of that capital that they pulling in over there. Spice, I love Spice. I don't care what nobody say. I love Spice and I've enjoyed watching her on the show. This past season of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta has actually been incredible, incredible, So it's a damn shame, and just like Claudia just illustrated, we do need to support these shows, the ones that you like. You ain't got to watch something that you don't fuck with, you know what I'm saying, But trashing the show, saying that they're bad for us and all this other shit, there is another sign to be looked at, and hopefully if we kind of shift that Lenz, we can save some other stuff from seeing the same fate.

00:19:52
Speaker 1: Unfortunately, this is reality with the King, and I'm Carlos King.

00:19:58
Speaker 2: Let's get back into the show.

00:20:01
Speaker 6: I agree, and I think you know, people quick to call it ghetto and stuff, and it very well may be right, but that doesn't mean it's a negative. I feel like when we just like black people, we say this all the time. We're not a monolith. There's nothing wrong with I've always said this, and I've said this to the owner to let me at zeus. It's long like balance, right, It's about balance. So we can have our cos we show type shows, and we can have our shows like Baddies, and we can have our shows like love and hip hop. There's a place for all these stories like just because that's not your story and your your social circle doesn't look like that. There's nothing wrong with like shining a light on those folks that have that kind of lifestyle. Like this everyone kind of matters, like, there's not kind of everyone's kind of demo matters, you know, and you you don't have to like it, you can hate it. But like, I think there should be different kinds of shows where you show the different degrees of blackness and our culture.

00:20:55
Speaker 4: There's nothing wrong with that, I agree, and all further to that, just to take it a step further, I think inevitably there will always be shows that maybe don't go along with our personal constitution, our personal you know, the way we live our lives. Right, there will always be shows that show case people that we share some sort of identity with. They may not paint them in the light we would prefer, but that's always going to happen. So to me, it is a feudal effort to try to combat that. There are positives to these shows existing. Right, You say what you want about Zeus and I'm not trying to be the Zeus Savior or none of that shit, But it's a lot of people working that that may have been doing other things that are not I hate to even say this word, but are not as safe for them as being employed over as zeus. There's just other sides to this thing, and I don't know. That's just where I'm at with it. So if Mama Dias wasn't lying and drunk somewhere and she was actually telling the.

00:21:55
Speaker 5: Truth, then I'm sad that that's happening. I'm sad.

00:21:59
Speaker 3: Yeah, So look, this is what I can I can share based on, of course being in the reality business, dealing with networks, pitching shows, and understanding a lot more of what's going on. It has been long rumored that Love and Hip Hop is on his last days, and a lot of that just has to do with the industry change.

00:22:23
Speaker 2: I've said this before, This industry is broke and and that's and ask Claudia in Dustin.

00:22:28
Speaker 3: It's it's not just reality stars, it's it's it's happening all over. Is the reason why when it comes to my podcast, for example, you two know this, I would get dragged all the time, Carlos, focus on your own shows. And the reason why I don't care what people say is because I knew that when I got this podcast that I wanted to make sure to talk about all the reality shows, including the love and hip hops and things that people always saw less than. Y'all saw Marit to Medicine as less than and the moment I got this podcast, and I'm dropping an interview next week with some people who gave me prompts for this. I'm the one who really told everybody, like, please watch marthon Medicine, like it's a great show.

00:23:16
Speaker 2: Because when it comes to reality television, let's keep it. I'm keeping a buck with y'all.

00:23:22
Speaker 3: Everybody wants to be a housewife, everybody, let's let's have for a conversation.

00:23:30
Speaker 2: There's girls on shows currently who want to be a housewife.

00:23:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, who don't even appreciate the show that they're on because they're too busy trying to be a housewife. And there's nothing wrong with wanting to be a housewife. It's a it's an amazing opportunity. It's an international show. Okay, it's fantastic. But some of the reasons why a lot of the girls want to do that is because of this of this sort of halo it has of being you know, the.

00:24:06
Speaker 2: Oscars of reality television, and.

00:24:11
Speaker 3: You know this sort of like paint brush of well, it's class here and all those things. And I always thought, and this is coming from somebody who did Seasons one of Atlanta Jersey, I never understood the classy part in terms of the actions, because I saw Teresa you like to flip a table.

00:24:31
Speaker 2: I saw Teresa Judices run down the country club.

00:24:35
Speaker 3: I saw Danielle stouth hair get pulled by Jack Ashley, you know what I mean.

00:24:41
Speaker 2: So I never understood that.

00:24:44
Speaker 3: My point in saying all of that is it's one of those things where you guys complain so much about wanted more shows than when you have them.

00:24:54
Speaker 2: You don't support it.

00:24:56
Speaker 3: You don't support it when you're cast on the show. You don't support it when it's on. Y'all are so quick to say cancel this show. We're bored, it has run its course, versus saying what we say every Monday night, which is, you know, maybe this person should leave the show. Bring in these type of people. We never say cancel the show. Were the three of us plus Blue. We always give advice in terms of what we would like to see, but we never say cancel.

00:25:24
Speaker 2: But you guys want to do that, then y'all could plain there's no black shows. But y'all WoT support any black shows, and we y'all do.

00:25:29
Speaker 3: Y'all call them ghetto because y'all too think the only show that should be around our housewives. Every other show, y'all don't say cancel it. Y'all say this is how we can help. But when it comes to other black reality shows, y'all so quick to be like, get rid of it, We're bored. Is run his course, it's ghetto, it's ratchet. It's not showing us in the best light. The eleven o'clock News does not show us in.

00:25:53
Speaker 2: The best light. But you guys don't petition but that to be canceled. You see what I'm saying.

00:25:58
Speaker 3: So what's happening is what Claudia and Doesn't are saying, which is there is this call to action to get rid of it, okay, And that's why for me, I am focusing more on doing other stuff because it's not just affecting the reality stars.

00:26:17
Speaker 2: It's affecting the reality creators.

00:26:19
Speaker 3: It's affecting reality producers seeing all these talk shows get canceled. Sherry Shephard, like I said, Access Hollywood, our friend Caroamo Brown, these are signs of where the industry is hit it, and I'm going to tell y'all right now, it's not going to get better. It's going to get worse before it gets better. Similar to the music industry. That's why people who are in the music industry, they are doing other stuff. They're not becoming influencers. They're not making songs that survive on TikTok. Nobody wants to write songs anymore. I was watching Beyonce footage yesterday and I just marvel, like, we will never have another Beyonce. It's never going to happen. Number one, You girls don't want to work like she does. Number two, there's no Matthew knows arow but.

00:27:13
Speaker 5: You know.

00:27:14
Speaker 2: But my point is, the girls don't work anymore. The girls don't want to don't want to put When I say the girls, I don't mean just girls, thank you. I mean the girl That's what I say.

00:27:27
Speaker 5: But it's not it's.

00:27:34
Speaker 3: Nobody wants to work anymore. Nobody wants to put in the effort. All y'all want to do is complain. And then when I hear songs on the radio, I'm like, this is for TikTok, and that's one stream of income. But I think globally we have to figure out how to support each other and stop running.

00:27:52
Speaker 2: Stop y'all gotta stop with this ship of.

00:27:58
Speaker 3: Desiring one angled of something and not fully supporting other.

00:28:04
Speaker 2: Avenues like the TV, you know, like a Zeus. You know what I'm saying.

00:28:08
Speaker 3: Zeus may not be your cup of tea, And trust me, I get that right. I don't watch Zeus just like Lemmy don't watch my shit.

00:28:16
Speaker 2: But it doesn't mean he and I can't support each other.

00:28:20
Speaker 5: Do you each other professionally?

00:28:23
Speaker 2: Yes?

00:28:24
Speaker 3: He said this publicly, and that's why I'm saying it. I introduced him to Joscelyn because all the shows that I pitched with Joscelyn's Cabaret, the networks turned it down. And when I met Lemmy at the dog park, funny story, and we were talking and I saw this black man doing his thing, and he said, who do you Who would be.

00:28:43
Speaker 2: Good for Zeus? I said Joscelyn. Josce Len flew to Los Angeles.

00:28:48
Speaker 3: She and I met with him, and the rest is history and she's doing wonderfully. You know, So again, support what's out there, and trust when I say this, I'm not saying you have to love it or like it, but damn it, do you have to go on Twitter and leave.

00:29:10
Speaker 5: Comments advocating for his failure.

00:29:13
Speaker 2: To be removed and canceled? And then when y'all get me at that BT plus is gone, did.

00:29:19
Speaker 3: Y'all subscribe to the motherfucker y'all to subscribe to it?

00:29:23
Speaker 6: It's crazy, like they'll say, people say like, oh, Zeus is ghettos, this, that, and third, but then you have a whole bunch of non ghetto shows on BT plus that wasn't getting the same support. But like, let me tell you something with Zeus will do every month is they're getting a million people or more to pay that four ninety nine or whatever it is every single month. So they have dedicated fan base. Dedicated fan base they do so money were your mouth this, I mean I would love I mean no, some people saying, are you telling us to watch ghetto TV? We're not saying that. Was saying like like if there's aying this should be a yang. Okay, I have to stuff that's like the untend stuff as but then also support some stuff over here on BT plus or don't hate on it at the very least.

00:30:10
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so you know it's it's it's, it's, it's, it's what's happening.

00:30:15
Speaker 2: So I'm moving on with that. I do want to get into EJ.

00:30:19
Speaker 3: Johnson's interview that I did because boil Boy look and this it doesn't quitly know my spirit.

00:30:27
Speaker 2: When I do interviews, I literally do it.

00:30:29
Speaker 3: I leave and I put it up and I'm and I just whatever, you know I And I'm being very honest.

00:30:36
Speaker 2: I did not expect the E. J.

00:30:39
Speaker 3: Johnson interview to blow up as big as it did. I literally, First of all, we taped that interview in December.

00:30:47
Speaker 6: Wow.

00:30:48
Speaker 2: Really yeah, we.

00:30:50
Speaker 3: Taped it in December, and I hell it because obviously I do a lot of interviews, and then depending on the timing of stuff like like for example, Dakara, We're Top Model, I have to do that and release it immediately because.

00:31:02
Speaker 2: It was a hot topic.

00:31:04
Speaker 3: So that's why a lot of my interviews that you guys will watch is not always I do it and I'll release it the next week. It just depends on the how relevant it is. I want to talk to YouTube briefly about the E. J. Johnson interview to get your perspective on it. I do want to play this clip first, I'm not gonna play the whole thing.

00:31:28
Speaker 2: I want to.

00:31:28
Speaker 3: Play some of it so that Claudia and Dustin and I can have a quick discussion about it, and then I'll tell you guys what I'm doing this week in regards to that particular interview. So here it is.

00:31:52
Speaker 2: Let me share my screen. Can y'all see it? You and your sister liking the same guy.

00:32:01
Speaker 7: I honestly that is ultimately like what got the pick the show picked up. But also you know, in terms of the gender and sexualities and stuff like that, it was very important because that happens. You know, you can I don't attract gay men, and I'm not and I'm not attracted to gay men. Like it's just not a thing.

00:32:24
Speaker 5: Tell me more about that, you know.

00:32:26
Speaker 7: Just I think like if you ask any of the girls like they'll tell you, they'll tell you the same.

00:32:31
Speaker 5: And I think they're just labels, you know.

00:32:33
Speaker 7: That's what Like, I don't care what you know, Like I'm dating someone, I'm like, I don't care what you identify as or what you call yourself as long as you're.

00:32:38
Speaker 5: Happy being who you are.

00:32:40
Speaker 7: But no, but to be honest, it's like that's why I don't really go to I don't go to gay clubs. I don't go to you know, gay things because it's like the men that I attract are not there. And also like they're like, you know, they kind of.

00:32:50
Speaker 2: Like wave you off. You're just like oh that you know, hey, girl.

00:32:53
Speaker 7: Like you know, it's not you're not in in here, in here like the rest.

00:32:57
Speaker 5: Of us are. You know.

00:32:59
Speaker 7: It's just it's always but it's I never really understood it until now because before when I would go and I would I just was like, there's something about this room.

00:33:07
Speaker 5: It's like it's almost like.

00:33:08
Speaker 7: They don't want me here, Like I'm not really in it here because I'm not presenting as a man. I'm not presenting in a in in that way.

00:33:19
Speaker 3: And to be clear, the gay community room, yeah, your own community yeah yeah yeah.

00:33:23
Speaker 7: But it's not like a shameful thing or just like oh they're mean to me, But it's like these are not my men in terms of attraction. Now, I'm just going to have a key, key sure, but like these are not the men that are that are interested in me in that capacity. I do that when I go to the straight rooms.

00:33:47
Speaker 3: So what I want to do first is get your thoughts on that conversation, Dustin, Oh, thank.

00:33:57
Speaker 6: God, man, I'm like, God, I was not making eye contact.

00:34:02
Speaker 4: I'm like, so, I think that so fucking I'm just about to speak freely.

00:34:15
Speaker 6: So.

00:34:16
Speaker 4: I think that Eja use some words to describe circumstances and situations that he's been in that have unfortunately stoked a lot of flames and reignited a bunch of meaningless, baseless conversations that are deeply, deeply rooted in homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, all of the things. And I think that he kind of fan those flames by getting on his ass on your interview and saying that he dates straight men. I think that the point that he was trying to make was that men that are attracted to him are attracted to things that are feminine, and so the likelihood of him finding interest from someone there in a room of people who are attracted to the male form or the male presenting identity are less likely than being in a room with people who are attracted to femininity. But for him to say that it was straight men that he was attracted to, I think was kind of confusing for a lot of people, and it caused conversations that vollied over into one thing, into another thing, and into another and so I just think that that was new information for people and confusing because of the words used. And so we just have to be careful and be responsible when we are discussing things that are sensitive and things that are related to issues that have been very divisive within the black community that have created this imaginary rift or conflict amongst women and female people versus the gay community and the trans community that does not exist. Conversations like that have aided in propelling those things forward, and it's really harmful. So we just got to make sure we speaking clearly and we're speaking to the audience. EJ was speaking to an audience to us that was way larger than gay people who would understand the dynamics of those situations in spaces that he had been in, and so the information was falling on ears of people who had never heard anything like that before. And we're not responsible for doing the work of figuring it out. It wasn't their job to figure out what he meant. It was EJ's job to say what he said, and that's what he did. But there was another way to make what I'm assuming EJ's point was in that setting without adding confusion and stoking the flames of these pointless, divisive conversations that are not going to get any of us anywhere further, and that are dividing us at a time and we really need to be unified.

00:36:49
Speaker 5: So those are my feelings about it, Claudia.

00:36:55
Speaker 6: If I would have said what EJ said, I would be roasted all over social media ashore. And I don't like I agree. I feel like it was a little divisive, Like I don't think there was a need to say that he wears some clothes better than women and all that kind of stuff. And I know that's like a small part of the interview, but in a time where the division is just getting the wedge is being driven, just made bigger and bigger and bigger, it's just like, h I think EJ really comes from more of a place of privilege, So maybe it comes off a little bit like, wait what, but EJ's life will never be like it's not like any of ours. Okay, I mean the man, I'm sorry, I don't want to be disprestful. EJ grew up just differently, just out the gate. You know what, I mean, everything's a label, everything's like this, and I think it comes off as an old, rich white woman. And when he was saying some of these things he was saying, it kind of felt like, you know, when you have a maybe a black friend that maybe black men didn't hit on them while they were in high school or whatever, and they just only date white men, so they say, don't I don't mess with the blacks, you know, because they don't really like me. And it maybe his reality, but it still can like be a little bit like, you know, rub you the wrong way. I get what I was saying about. You know, someone that that would be attracted to EJ would be more in tune with the feminine than the masculine. I think maybe he could have been left there and all the other stuff was not necessary because I kind of that's when it went left. I think I think that's was rubbing people like the wrong way. You know. Okay, I try to be as careful as I could on that SEGM.

00:38:32
Speaker 2: But you look good. No listen, listen, So I'll say this. You know the thing with EJ that I want.

00:38:42
Speaker 3: To start by saying this, EJ does not do interviews. Yeah, J, albeit famous courtesy of the reality show he was on rich Kiss and Beverly Hills. EJ in the City has spent off. That happened more than a decade ago. He's not out there doing interviews or even being seen. His social media just got up a few months ago and you follow EJ. He was gone out of the limelight for years. And when I reached out to him, it's because I saw that he had his Instagram back up and started doing more content and fashion and he's amazing, amazing when it comes to understanding fashion and labels and all that stuff.

00:39:30
Speaker 2: Back to his whelhouse.

00:39:31
Speaker 3: So long story show, I reached out to him and he could not have been more gracious and more sweet.

00:39:35
Speaker 2: And I listen, I don't walk around like I'm probably king darling everybody. I don't walk around like that.

00:39:41
Speaker 3: So when he said yes, I was pleasantly surprised because I know that he doesn't do interviews. And at the end of the interview what he said to me, he was like, I did not expect to even talk about anything you asked me.

00:39:55
Speaker 2: He said, you made me feel so comfortable to be myself.

00:39:58
Speaker 3: That we you You really went there asking me questions that I just don't talk about and I think for EJ, like dustiness intimating, EJ felt like he was talking to one of his duties. Do you know what I'm saying, like one of his girlfriends and not and not the world right? And the stuff that EJ said, I mean, that's that's EJ's life and that's EJ's perspective.

00:40:24
Speaker 2: What I gathered from it was e.

00:40:28
Speaker 3: J, I will never know what it's like to walk in EJ shoes, right, being born with a platinum spoon in your mouth and having this access of immediacy of luxury, you know, private schools and you know EJ is I believe thirty three years old.

00:40:49
Speaker 2: So EJ was born at a time where you know parents. And we're seeing this on Mariti Medicine with doctor Simone.

00:40:57
Speaker 3: And her kids, where it is this concept creation of black parents who are first time millionaires saying I want to give my child the best life, and sometimes giving your child the best life means you're you're you're putting them in schools and environments where they don't have a lot of people who look like them, but they're not exposed to that. So I definitely think he touched on that and the one thing that he did say. And by the way, EJ goes by EJ. However, EJ has said that obviously if somebody says he he's not tripping off a bibie.

00:41:30
Speaker 6: I was just going to ask you that because.

00:41:32
Speaker 2: People say, I know, I know, EJ said. It's all about the intention of the word.

00:41:38
Speaker 3: And if he asks you, if they ask you and in the moment not to say, you still say it, then it's disrespectful.

00:41:44
Speaker 6: He's not is not trans right, So EJ is okay? Like if you say he is not offensive.

00:41:51
Speaker 3: EJ told and and the other thing and this and this is not to Claudia, this is not to you, okay, because don't make it seem like it is. That's why I want people to watch the entire interview. I think a lot of people watched the two minute clip and read with it. I ain't tripping at all. But I implore people to watch the entire interview because I think if you watch the entire interview, like a lot of people did, your perspective may be something.

00:42:19
Speaker 2: That is not based on the two minute clip.

00:42:21
Speaker 3: And I'll leave it at that because I like people to have their own perspective.

00:42:24
Speaker 2: The last thing I'll say is.

00:42:25
Speaker 6: This, I'm gonna watch it, all of it. Sorry, I was busy this weekend. I'm sorry.

00:42:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of people saw the clip and and and did a lot of content about it, which I appreciate anybody who takes my content to talk about it because there's so much out there. The last thing that I'll say is, after you've watched the entire interview, one thing that is true in the in the gay community. And I'll speak to the black gay community because I'm part of it, me too.

00:42:56
Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no, no too wow. Well nothing like you know they think about. That's the kay no.

00:43:15
Speaker 3: One thing I'll say, and I have another announcement to make after this is there is film.

00:43:20
Speaker 2: Phobia in the community.

00:43:23
Speaker 3: There is film phobia in the Black gay community. I'm not going to spend time on this on this month in my live going to detail about it.

00:43:33
Speaker 2: I'll tell you what I'm doing later.

00:43:34
Speaker 3: But what I will say is when it comes to feminine gay men, I E ME I E an E J.

00:43:43
Speaker 5: Right.

00:43:46
Speaker 3: There, Unfortunately is this thing where there appears to be this large demographic of people in the community who don't find feminine gay men attractive.

00:44:05
Speaker 2: Right that is something that is true.

00:44:09
Speaker 3: And if you're a feminine gay person, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

00:44:15
Speaker 2: And that's why a lot of.

00:44:16
Speaker 3: The comments defended EJ, saying, now y'all know what he's trying to say, like stop it, and again it's a conversation like Dustin's.

00:44:25
Speaker 2: Dustin said that that's more global and has way more reach. But there is film phobia is a real thing. Claudia, You're you're not privy to this.

00:44:39
Speaker 3: You know, me and Dustin's generation, there was this thing called no facts and no films where when you used to try to meet a guy online and there will I will never get this. I was in my early twenties. I'll never get this. When you're trying to figure out your your situation and you go there was a site, and Claudia, there were literally boxes that would be like.

00:45:04
Speaker 2: You know, male or female, check here preference mhm.

00:45:10
Speaker 3: They would have no fast, no films, and and that meant no fat personal person. And so I do think a lot of EJ's experience comes from him being a larger size growing up, in addition to being effeminate.

00:45:28
Speaker 4: And no, I'm sorry, I didn't want to cut you off, please please finish.

00:45:34
Speaker 2: So there's there's definitely.

00:45:38
Speaker 3: That was definitely a thing when you first started to come out back in the day. Not granted things have gotten better, things, yeah, things have gotten better.

00:45:49
Speaker 2: The world evolves.

00:45:50
Speaker 4: Want him to go be in the gay spaces because if you were to go, he would understand that things are different. These new the younger people than us, don't give a fuck about none of that shit. They coming out and whatever their body type is, body positivity is a real thing now that.

00:46:08
Speaker 5: We thank God for.

00:46:10
Speaker 4: And self expression is something that in the middle of so much oppression, there are still spaces where you are allowed to thrive with your expression, your freedom of expression. So I think he would have a different environment if he were to socialize in those spaces moving forward.

00:46:28
Speaker 2: So I agree with you, and I think for EJ. And that's my hat to say.

00:46:33
Speaker 3: I want to give EJ all the props in the world because when I, an overly gay black man, reached out to EJ and said, I know you don't do interviews, and he said yes to me, And I don't want that to get lost in it because he could have just said, girl, you know whatever. And Dustin's right too, So The thing is this. The world has evolved, Everything has evolved. However, I will say people's trauma that they experience in the childhood still resurfaces. And that's why listen, I'll talk about myself.

00:47:07
Speaker 2: I'm gonna move on. I don't give two ships. I'm a bush queen whatever. I don't do labels myself. But but what, we're not gonna act like it doesn't exist.

00:47:20
Speaker 3: We're not gonna act like when I post a picture on Twitter, y'all, some of y'all say, he's keep until he starts talking.

00:47:27
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So we're not gonna act like it's.

00:47:33
Speaker 6: But I'm also a power bottom.

00:47:35
Speaker 2: No, but I haven't hit podcasts, so clearly someone likes my boys. But we're not gonna act like it doesn't exist.

00:47:41
Speaker 3: In twenty twenty six, if I post a picture, the repost would be hearing me out.

00:47:48
Speaker 2: Is this is safe space? He's fine until he starts talking.

00:47:52
Speaker 3: I mean, if he wasn't such a girl, you know it's But but what I will say, because I understand engagement, I understand when those things are said on Twitter is to get engagement. I know that when I go out and Dustin is a witness to it.

00:48:12
Speaker 2: I don't have any.

00:48:14
Speaker 4: Issues, not a problem, insight, where's the problem, the jackets problem, the problem Carlos.

00:48:21
Speaker 6: Banks, the jacket, the blaze.

00:48:24
Speaker 3: But but my thing is this, My thing is this. But but but that's why Dustin's right, Claudia and rain Drops, you have to you have to put yourself in those rooms still, because that's not the reality anymore. And and by saying this too, it's just important to have these conversations, which is why me and Dustin are gonna hold a panel with other gay black folk and we're gonna call it dating while gay and black. Because to Justin's point, I think there's a larger conversation about this, and that is something that you.

00:49:09
Speaker 2: Guys will see pretty soon.

00:49:12
Speaker 4: So let me say one thing before we get off this subject. The most interesting thing about conversations and commentary surrounding your conversation with EJ and the clips of it that have gone viral, is the commentary that it generates, right, And I just want people to know that people like myself, people like Carlos, people like Claudia who has multiple gay friends that are close to her, we can all see straight through the intention of the comments that I left, and each one of these people who are using this and weaponizing this piece of this conversation into an opportunity for them to perpetuate and purport homophobia, transphobia, all that shit. Anybody that's using this and turning his conversation about who he's attracted to and who's attracted to him into now some sort of issue of straight women versus gay people. We see you, We see exactly what you're doing. We see you taking that journey and making that path to negativity, and you can see straight through it every motherfucking time. And this is a safe space for me. It's always going to be a safe space for me. This is a safe space for Claudia. And this is your show, Carlos. So I just want to be clear that the homophobia shit, we don't have any space for that or no tolerance for that.

00:50:33
Speaker 5: This is not a US versus them thing. That was a clip of EJ.

00:50:38
Speaker 4: Johnson talking about who he dates and who's been attracted to him and who he's attracted to, where he used some language that can be off putting for people. But I just want to be clear on that because we can have a healthy discussion a healthy conversation about anything. But what we're not fin to do is open the door to rap at homophobia attacks on the gay community, turning this into a war between straight women and gay pe people. It's not going to be that, so I just wanted to be clear about that for our audience.

00:51:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you for thank you.

00:51:06
Speaker 3: I agree and I agree with that, So listen, make sure y'all check off the E. J. Johnson Carlos King exclusive on my YouTube channel. Watch the whole interview. It's only fifty seven minutes, and shout out to everybody who did a video on it.

00:51:22
Speaker 5: Listen.

00:51:23
Speaker 3: I am I get paid clearly every Monday night to talk about things in media. I'm never mad whether y'all loved it hated it. I appreciate anybody who takes time out of their day to even talk about it.

00:51:38
Speaker 2: And I want to give a shout out to don't call me.

00:51:41
Speaker 4: Why Gramona and sit.

00:51:46
Speaker 5: Talking about this.

00:51:50
Speaker 6: But so someone that doesn't do interviews, I think that was good for him to see it and even even some of the feedback, whether the good, bad, and the ugly, because it also lets people like I did this class before where we had to like see how people view us and how from how we speak right, And and that's not to say he had a he was flawless in his answers, and that doesn't make him a bad person, but maybe he can see how how even clips made some people think that he was maybe distancing himself from the community, which we need all the allies that we have, especially someone as visible, powerful, rich as an EJ. You know what I mean, Like that he's not without criticism. It's okay, right he You know what, maybe if I do that again, because I don't have a lot of experience in interviews, maybe I wouldn't seem like I'm kind of distancing myself from gay men or men, because that's hurtful too. And that's not saying he's homophobic, but it can come off in a way that the person that doesn't do the deep dive and is not as up to uh, you know, on point with everything, doesn't watch everything, or you know, a casual viewer won't get the wrong impression that he's saying those feminine over there with that with me, they can't sit with me. So yeah, I think this would be good for him. He can go back and watch it, and I don't think you coming from. I don't think it's trying to be a dickhead.

00:53:01
Speaker 5: I don't.

00:53:02
Speaker 6: Yeah, I trust me. I'm the queen of being misunderstood. I totally understand that how two hours gets, you know, cut up and served up another way.

00:53:13
Speaker 2: Yeah. So all right, so make sure I watched that.

00:53:16
Speaker 3: Thank everybody who, like I said, watched it and made comments and videos.

00:53:24
Speaker 2: All right, So breaking news, Claudia and Dustin and rain drops, ask and you shall receive.

00:53:36
Speaker 3: So you know, one thing that I love about Claudia and Dustin and everybody that is in my life.

00:53:42
Speaker 2: Is the fact that you know, when.
