Fort Knox said no, no foreigners that will be at this game, and so the Lexti Christian had to win sixty three to nothing without you. 00:01:38 Speaker 5: Yeah, last two weeks I haven't been there and they've won fifty five zero and sixty two zero. So maybe they'll just keep me away forever. But yeah, that was a bit afraid with my ties with Putin and all that kind of thing. Didn't want to let me in the military place, I understand. But good to have with you with us today. 00:01:55 Speaker 2: Ryan. It is the I guess our last Friday and week until April with nothing, no sports this weekend? How are you gonna use your time? But like I said earlier this week, I wish Kentucky was playing this week or come off that big win and on miss and it's a perfect weekend. 00:02:26 Speaker 4: I really wish it was a game. I wish the bye week was maybe next week, not this week. 00:02:31 Speaker 2: You've had two very big weekends, Shannon. You've had larger than life. 00:02:35 Speaker 4: And you've had beyond uh huh. 00:02:37 Speaker 2: What are you gonna How are you gonna use your weekend? 00:02:40 Speaker 7: Actually, I've got some more of these remotes. 00:02:42 Speaker 8: I'm gonna be set up at one of these places that sells like five dollars stakes. 00:02:46 Speaker 7: You've seen these places like travel around. 00:02:49 Speaker 2: There's a fire, where's the ponderosa? 00:02:52 Speaker 8: No, it's like these tents. They do these meat tent cells, meat tints. Yeah, I'm gonna be in a meat tent, so come on out and buy some meat this weekend. 00:03:01 Speaker 2: I don't understand what it is. 00:03:03 Speaker 8: It's like a traveling thing and they have like pork chops and steaks, and they're all on discount at rate, and they're gonna have me out there saying everybody, come buy our meat. 00:03:13 Speaker 7: So that's that's gonna be. 00:03:15 Speaker 2: And is that in Lexington or Louisville. 00:03:17 Speaker 7: It's in Louisville. It's in Louisville. 00:03:19 Speaker 8: And that's gonna be after I go to Sargum Festival tomorrow. Get up early and go get some teacher. 00:03:23 Speaker 2: Tell me what time i'd like to come have some of your five dollars meat tomorrow? 00:03:27 Speaker 8: Oh, I thought you were gonna come to Sargum Festival. You want some of my five dollars meals. 00:03:30 Speaker 2: I'm in Louisville tomorrow. I'll come see some of your five I'll buy you a five Okay, thank you very much. That's very nice. 00:03:36 Speaker 7: Don't say I never did anything for you? 00:03:37 Speaker 2: All right? Well you doesn't that sound very American? 00:03:40 Speaker 3: For you? That sounds very very what's wrong with it? 00:03:42 Speaker 2: Was it reduced? You know? 00:03:44 Speaker 6: Don't ask questions that they're selling out of the guy's the truck truck. 00:03:49 Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what it is. They're selling out the back of a guy's trunk. 00:03:51 Speaker 2: I mean it sounds good. I'm looking forward to it. You tell me where to go tomorrow there if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. H Max is here and I wanted to get your take. We haven't gotten to talk to you yet about the big victory Saturday at Old Miss. What did you think? You know, you preseason last year you were more down on the team than we were in the preseason, and they ended up you kind of get were more ripe than we were this year. I thought you were kind of more optimistic maybe than a lot of our fans were. Did you feel vindicated by the game Saturday? Yeah? 00:04:25 Speaker 5: I think preseason I said nine to three, and then the South Carolina game happened, and I thought I looked like an idiot. But since then, you know, obviously two really good performances Georgia Ole Miss and then getting the job done against Ohio for me, you know, talk about. 00:04:39 Speaker 3: Weight to numbers and the trends. 00:04:41 Speaker 5: Your friend, We've played four really really good games out of five, and now you kind of see South Carolina as the outlier and the other four games is our consistent football, And so I think I'm really excited we're going to play some really really meaningful games come November. Yeah, and I'm just super tired for that and I'm so happy. Like that look on Stoops is f when he was walking back to the law. 00:05:01 Speaker 2: You've seen that You've been part of big wins. You were part of that win at Missouri the year, You're part of beating Penn State. You're part of a Florida win, et cetera, part of a Tennessee win. Right did you get to. 00:05:12 Speaker 3: The sea win at Tennessee? 00:05:13 Speaker 2: What what is Stoops like in those big victory moments? 00:05:17 Speaker 3: I mean, the crowd say, is unbelievable? 00:05:19 Speaker 5: Isn't that when he when he punched that hole at Missouri, it was one of my favorite moments of all time. And honestly, like I'm not sure if he would say this, but I feel like the South Carolina game just kind of woke him up a little bit again. It just seemed like Stoops was kind of, you know, from the outside looking in and going through the motions, he's a little bit like underwhelming. 00:05:35 Speaker 3: During the preseason, I think you were. 00:05:37 Speaker 2: Saying that, let's you said this to me some off the air. You didn't. You just didn't feel like that sort of thing that Stoops has, that that that sort of spark you didn't see it. You were saying this even after week one, before we played South Carolina. Did you see that Saturday? 00:05:54 Speaker 5: I mean absolutely, And I think that's what I'm saying. I think the South Carolina game woke him back up and maybe worke the program back up. I think historically we've always been the underdogs, and we played our best as the underdogs. He's coached these best as the underdogs. 00:06:07 Speaker 3: And when we. 00:06:07 Speaker 5: Go into a South Carolina game where you're ten point favorite, it's kind of unschoted territories. You don't really know like how to handle a situation like that. And then he lost, and its disappointed he would have been in that loss. I think he was like, now I'm back, hey you. 00:06:21 Speaker 2: I wonder if if Ryan for a home game in the S or do you think we've been a ten point favorite in many games that were not we're SEC games except Vandy. I bet it hadn't happened often. Maybe maybe one Missouri game at some point, but I don't know if that's probably ever happened. 00:06:38 Speaker 4: That's a great point. 00:06:39 Speaker 6: I can't remember one time they've been favored by more than ten against somebody other than Vanderbilt. 00:06:43 Speaker 4: For an SEC game. It just doesn't happen. 00:06:45 Speaker 2: This doesn't happen. No, So that's that's that's interesting. Well, we are here at Shady Rayce. They have new UK themed sunglasses. I have one of them on right now, blue and white. They're kind of I don't know, how would you describe it? Shit? And they seemed to kind of they're like, you know, sport I see, I see like college age dudes wearing glasses like. 00:07:03 Speaker 3: They look cool on someone else. 00:07:05 Speaker 6: Yeah, that's why Max is here, That's why he's here. 00:07:11 Speaker 2: Are you suggesting these don't look good on me? Now? The ones in the middle, I'm not sure I can pull that one. 00:07:17 Speaker 8: Those look more like, uh like famous snowboarding goggles that you put on right that almost cover your whole thing. 00:07:23 Speaker 2: You've seen Brott Vandergriff. Where are those glasses? 00:07:26 Speaker 7: You could pull them off? 00:07:26 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:07:27 Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think I can. The other ones, I think they'll work for me, Ryan, Are you going to get some before you get out of here? 00:07:33 Speaker 6: I know they've even offered to make me some prescription sunglasses so I can have some new UK last sunglasses. 00:07:39 Speaker 8: Prescriptions prescription sunglasses on those are prescriptions. 00:07:43 Speaker 2: Those are prescriptions. Look at it back there with the slick back there. That's great. All right, So we're gonna talk football. I also want to talk some basketball because if you were online last night, either on on social media or on Kentucky Sports Radio dot com, and if you haven't seen this, I suggest you go watch UK Basketball least a seven minute video that was basically them. It was basically a day of what they called what is it camp banner not not hell camp, hell we banner camp Banner Camp. But more importantly, I thought it was fascinating because it was seven straight minutes of Mark Pope coaching and you ought to watch it because it's cool to see. But the most interesting part of it to me Ryan was listening to Mark Pope talk about offense. He basically was showcasing They were running up and down the floor and they basically run this play and they try to shoot as many threes over the course of time while running the play over a minute, and I think he said the first one they made, I guess they shot they made fifty seven points, which if you do the math, would be nineteen threes, and then the last minute they made seventy seven. And anyway, he was talking and this is what I found was interesting, and I know it is. There are people who are like, you gotta move on pastcal and I agree. But some of what's gonna happen this year is you're just gonna have to compare styles because we're gonna see we're gonna see a completely different turn your music up louder, Thank you man, we couldn't hear it with your windows road down. 00:09:09 Speaker 7: Yeah, everybody cares what you're listening to. 00:09:11 Speaker 2: Thank you. But we it was a different philosophy and I think we're going to see a huge change. And one of the things Mark Pope said in that video is he goes, if you shoot and we miss our first four threes, when we come out of the time out, shoot four more threes. That was basically what he said. And if you remember John Calipari had a different philosophy. He would say, if you're shooting threes and miss him, scoot in and shoot twos. That was his exact quote. I find it interesting they are going to live and die with that outside shot and the variance of our scoring RIND is going to be fascinating to watch. 00:09:46 Speaker 6: And like you said, it's a change, but it's a change. I think that most fans are gonna welcome because it's now it's about execution and efficiency. It's not just my guy's better than your guy. Go out and beat that other guy. 00:09:57 Speaker 2: If you like the keep shooting, keep shooting fire, get up and down the floor. I mean, if you watch the offense, I'm sure this is the drill. But basically it was driving kick, driving kick, driving kick, and everyone taking threes. Do you lie? I mean that's gonna be so. I know we shot up a lot of them last year, but it's because we had three historically good shooters. I think, Max, We're shooting them this year no matter what. That's just what we do. 00:10:23 Speaker 3: Absolutely. 00:10:23 Speaker 5: And you had a call a call in maybe a couple of weeks ago, YO, that said that he had visited the claus and talked about sports psychology. 00:10:30 Speaker 3: And that's what you want to do. 00:10:31 Speaker 5: Filling with confidence, right, like, just keep telling him, Hey, don't worry about mistakes, go out that shoot. 00:10:36 Speaker 3: No one cares if you miss. Let's just keep making them. 00:10:38 Speaker 2: We're I will say this early in the year. Shannon bethy Over on Kentucky. Yeah, no, I mean it because I don't think I think we are going to put up. Now, we may give up a ton of points, but I think we are gonna put up absurd numbers of points because we're gonna score at an average. And we scored a lot last year, but if you look over the course of the cal era, we're gonna score an average that we haven't seen. 00:11:00 Speaker 8: I don't know how good at the end of the season this team is going to be, but I do know one thing. 00:11:04 Speaker 7: It's gonna be a lot. 00:11:05 Speaker 8: Of fun to watch this team just based on that style alone. And when you have as many good shooters, just by the numbers, I mean, you're gonna get probably an absurd amount of made three point shots that's going to be the majority of their offense. 00:11:16 Speaker 2: I think he's very much Ryan kind of a slogan person. He's very much like if you put it in the bucket, it will come out into the pail and all that. 00:11:26 Speaker 4: That's a good one. That's really a good one. 00:11:28 Speaker 2: I'm just saying he's very much like like I feel like one day he could be like a motivational speaker, you know. 00:11:34 Speaker 4: Every everything. 00:11:35 Speaker 6: If he uses that line putting next to Soccrates hit me on the Kentucky branded t shirt next week's show. 00:11:42 Speaker 4: Put it in a buckett. 00:11:43 Speaker 2: If you put it in a bucket, you get it back in a pye. That's what it is. But do you think that works with college kids in the Anile era all the sort of you know, it's a little cheeseball. 00:11:54 Speaker 6: He maybe I would think that it would work more so than the old school coach screaming and hollering at you. And you know that just doesn't seem to work anymore. I think Mark Pope is a kind of the the new coach that can reach these kids by talking that way. 00:12:07 Speaker 2: I mean, you ten Max to sort of roll your eyes when people say things like that. How do you think you would deal with the coach that was kind of always doing like motivational quotes and putting Vince Lombardi things over you, Like, how would you deal with that? 00:12:21 Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess it's a little different if he's trying to build a manchu of what the team's gonna be. 00:12:25 Speaker 3: Every coach talks. 00:12:26 Speaker 5: About having the own your own language in your locker room or in your facility. And if he's you know, preaching these five things, maybe that's their values or they call values whatever it's gonna be and if he keeps preaching these things, then yeah, guys are gonna buy into it if he has early success. It's just if you don't have the early success, then all those cheesy things become cheesy. 00:12:44 Speaker 2: Actually that's a really good if they work, they're not quite as as cheesy, Shannon. When I was watching it, I was excited. Yeah, I'm sitting there and they're getting that those seven minutes. I've been kind of like, I'm very excited to see Pope, but I've kind of been like basketball. Basketball is a week away, you know, we do the show next week. Big Blue Madness is that night. Yes, I mean we're gonna be right across the way over there at Kentucky Brandon next Friday, and then we got Big Blue Madness that night, Keenland's are excuse me, Kentucky Vandy Saturday, Keenland UK Texas Volleyball Sunday. I mean, the sort of big, massive weekend of UK sports starts next week. And I think that video is part of what got me excited. 00:13:20 Speaker 8: Pope gets it, man, He's had all of us excited for what's to come in the basketball season. 00:13:24 Speaker 7: I love the fact that they're bringing an led floor out for. 00:13:28 Speaker 8: Big Blue Madness. Well, they did it at the NBA All Star Game. If you if you remember on. 00:13:32 Speaker 7: That, it's gonna be cool. 00:13:34 Speaker 8: I think it's gonna be interactive and something that fans are really gonna enjoy seeing. 00:13:37 Speaker 2: Yeah, I do too. I think it's gonna be listen. I don't know how we're gonna do, but we're gonna be fun to watch. Five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. What's your name? My guy? You? What is it? Jagger? What's your name? Jagger? And Harper? 00:13:56 Speaker 3: There? 00:13:57 Speaker 2: What a good name of Harper and Jagger? Jagger Burton, right, Harper, Jones right there. I like the pick. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, nah, One person writes on the text machine seven seven two seven four five two five four. I love when Max is on the show. He's always so funny. I wish you could have you bon Moore. That's very nice, It's very very nice. The next person wrote, Uh, Max, good, This pretty good Max is a smart ass. Why don't you tell him to not be so mean when he's on the radio. 00:14:35 Speaker 4: Is that your mom nice for caring to text in on the text line? 00:14:39 Speaker 2: My mom is coming. You can say that to her face, so when she gets here in just a little bit. We are here at Shady Rays. They got food from Wild Eggs, they got coffee from Funky Rooster Coffee right over there, and we got a great crad. This is a wonderful crowd this morning, and so it's gonna be suns out a little bit. You can get a little tan. 00:14:57 Speaker 7: Shit, suns out, guns out. 00:15:01 Speaker 2: Right. It looks like it, did you see, by the way, the Arkansas fans kind of picked up the Arkansas media picked up our our hog thing yesterday, and now they're saying we're obsessed over them because of you, Shannon, because you made all those jokes about the hall. 00:15:15 Speaker 8: I don't understand why they're upset about that. I mean, I think it's ridiculous. They're trying to make their logo, their mascot more classy. It's a hog. You want to have a classy hog or slabber? 00:15:25 Speaker 2: No, No, I think it's the opposite. It doesn't slabber. They want to go back to slabery. 00:15:29 Speaker 8: Oh so they want to be unclassic. Yeah, that's typical in Arkansas fans. 00:15:34 Speaker 2: This is him doing it. I mean, if I'm nine two eighty, sip a couple open lines, give us a shout. Ryan Kerr Crisa said yesterday that in his entire life of playing basketball, he's never dunked. He's never been able to dunk. Now, I believe he's my hid so he's like maybe an inch shorter, six two sixty three, says he's never ever once dunked. 00:15:59 Speaker 6: What do you think about it, I'd say, then they after some conditioning in the weight training. I can see a runout before he leaves here, goes up for the dunk and misses it. 00:16:08 Speaker 4: I think we're coming for that. He's gonna try it. 00:16:12 Speaker 2: That was the most anti climactic ending I've ever heard. 00:16:16 Speaker 8: Can we get the guy like an adjustable realm? Lower it down like the Nazi? Maybe we have to say. 00:16:21 Speaker 2: I'm a little surprised because I've watched the kid play defense. He's really good defensively, and he's quick, and he's close to my hype. Might be a little bit shorter now, I can't dunk now, but there was a time I could dunk. I don't understand. I'm really surprised Max that he's never been able to dunk a basketball. And I listen my dunking. I mean I did it like three times in my life, but like I could like run down and do it. Are you a little surprised? 00:16:49 Speaker 3: Very surprised. 00:16:49 Speaker 5: I mean I thought if you were playing Division one basketball and you were over six foot everyone would be out of dunk, right, I mean I would think. 00:16:57 Speaker 2: So, I'm trying to think what Kentucky players, Ryan, do you think think have never were never able to dunk? Was Tyler Ulis able to dunk? 00:17:05 Speaker 4: Probably not? 00:17:06 Speaker 2: Well? 00:17:06 Speaker 4: What about Brandon? Yeah, I tell you I don't. 00:17:09 Speaker 2: Think Brandon Stockton would have been able to. 00:17:11 Speaker 7: I don't remember Wheeler ever dunking Severe Wheeler. 00:17:13 Speaker 2: Yeah, Severe Wheelers. But those are really short guys. I mean I'm trying to think he. 00:17:18 Speaker 4: Could in the warm ups though, Like, no, you had the little. 00:17:22 Speaker 2: Team last year? Could have you had Kareem Watkins? 00:17:25 Speaker 8: Yes, he could throw down the dunk contest, he won the dunk content. 00:17:29 Speaker 4: He did. 00:17:30 Speaker 2: He was under six feet tall and he could throw down. Can you who is the best player Ryan that you can remember at Kentucky that never dunked. 00:17:40 Speaker 6: Patrick Sparks, Travis Ford. That's a good answer to somebody just said Travis Fanatrick. 00:17:44 Speaker 2: Sparks and Travis Ford. Well, Tyler Ulis if he did? What about somebody? Can you think of anybody's six feet? Because I think he's six feet. Can you think of anybody six feet that was good that never threw down a dunk? 00:17:55 Speaker 4: Ever? 00:17:58 Speaker 2: Is Patrick Spark six f Patrick Sparks might be six feet, he might be six feet he would That's a that's a really good call. I'm trying to think who else did did? Kelly Richie's not six feet? Is he? I know he's listed at six feet, but text me and tell me how he is. I don't think he's six feet. I'll tell you kid, I don't remember ever dunking that's taller than I am. Do you ever remember seeing Kellen Grady dunk? 00:18:27 Speaker 4: That's a good call. No stand out by. 00:18:31 Speaker 7: He could if he wanted to, right. 00:18:33 Speaker 2: Well, I would think Cark Criso would be able to dunk. 00:18:36 Speaker 8: But he said he never has in his life, so I would say that he hasn't. He can't I love that the fact that he talks so much trash and he can't even dunkle ball. 00:18:44 Speaker 2: But he also admitted it. He also admitted, Now, some good news for me, Ryan lemon Terry Francona was named the new manager of the Reds. Do I have any Rads fans here. 00:18:55 Speaker 8: Dude, that's a good get for you guys. Absolutely, World Teries champion, two. 00:18:59 Speaker 2: Time World Series champion. He has made the playoffs seventeen of the last twenty two years that he that he that he managed, he won. He went to three World Series, won two of them. Ryan, of all the people I assume they get, I would argue he's the best choice they could have gotten. 00:19:17 Speaker 6: In the last one ten to fifteen years. He's one of the top two or three managers in all of baseball. And for the Reds to pull that and get that, that's a huge tire for the Reds. 00:19:25 Speaker 2: He's the he has won, Shannon the eleventh most games in the history of baseball, and he's now. I saw the quote right before came in here. He said he thinks this is the best young corps in baseball and he wants to be there to watch him win. 00:19:39 Speaker 8: The World He broke the curse of the Bambino. Bring in the Red Sox two titles. You know, I can think of another team that's got a long drought in Cincinnati Reds, so maybe this is their chance to win one. 00:19:50 Speaker 2: And maybe most importantly for you, I was kind of wavering on renewing season tickets till I see who they got. Yeah, now I'm gonna get it. And you can at least get one Braves game every year. 00:20:00 Speaker 7: Love it. 00:20:00 Speaker 8: I appreciate that. I always enjoy that, and that's a really nice thing that you do for us. You give away your your tickets. 00:20:06 Speaker 2: But you bet you would watch the Red sum when when you're in Lexington. 00:20:09 Speaker 3: Yeah, Delhi, Yeah, I watched a little bit. 00:20:12 Speaker 2: Elly Ellie, you said, Deli. That's not his name, Deli. 00:20:15 Speaker 5: I'm thinking the Australian basketball play that's similar Similess Boots. He's a little He retired though last year, correct, so he's probably all. 00:20:24 Speaker 2: Retired and said he had health issues that he needed to attend to for the rest of his life. And I guess a year later, I guess they've cleared up Ryan and he's back. 00:20:33 Speaker 6: Makes you wonder if that's why. Look, you know, it's kind of controversial to let go of David Bell. They already maybe they already knew they could get him, because that that's definitely a move you would make if. 00:20:41 Speaker 4: You knew you were going to get him. 00:20:42 Speaker 2: I think I think you would, and that for the first time, you start to see Reds fans having a little bit of excitement. So I'm I'm I'm thrilled because actually, you know that all these young dudes, they I think having an old old timer to lead him help ship. 00:20:55 Speaker 7: Now I need to follow up on yours. 00:20:57 Speaker 3: So you need an old when you're young, You just need an old. 00:21:00 Speaker 4: Tell him you what to do and tell him that his day. 00:21:02 Speaker 2: That's exactly that I. 00:21:03 Speaker 8: Need to follow up on your swing for a home run to get season tickets. Do you have somebody for that yet? 00:21:08 Speaker 2: I'm working on a ringer. I have somebody. It's in two weeks. It's just about matching the schedules. But but now I think, listen, I think they're gonna get a lot of excitement on their tickets. 00:21:19 Speaker 4: Absolutely. 00:21:21 Speaker 2: If I'm nine twenty two eighty seven, Rick, who's up first? 00:21:24 Speaker 4: Ray is up first? 00:21:26 Speaker 2: Ray? 00:21:26 Speaker 4: Go ahead? 00:21:26 Speaker 2: Ray? Hey, this is great from Australia and I'm wanting to ask Max if you got to watch the Grand Final yet yet I did. 00:21:35 Speaker 5: I did get to watch the Grand Final, so you know can ruin the School of Brisbane lines on the Grand Final everyone so congratulacense to them. 00:21:42 Speaker 3: Yeah, yay, but no, it was very intenting. 00:21:47 Speaker 2: Are you the guy who called and spoiled it for him on the pregame show? Yes, yes, I'm gonna tell you for people who don't know. On the pregame show he had saved a game that had happened in the middle of the night. Was after the pregame show watch it and then this guy called and told him the winner And I'm gonna tell you something, Ray not to be mean. I he would have punched you in the face had you been standing in front of him at that moment. 00:22:15 Speaker 7: I really hate to hear that because I really like Max. 00:22:18 Speaker 3: Well, I appreciate that I didn't like you at the moment. 00:22:20 Speaker 5: You back in my good books, It's literally like if someone if you moved to Australia and they had the conference championship game on and you saved it because you knew no a strangers would tell you and then we tell you the Green Bay Packer is one. 00:22:32 Speaker 2: It's like, come on, yeah, so I know you were trying ray but uh but hope, but this call I think helped make up for it good. 00:22:39 Speaker 4: I'm trying to make as Thank you. 00:22:41 Speaker 2: Man, thank you, thank you very much. Nine two eight h twenty two eighty seven. By the way, I got so many messages about festivals I forgot maybe the most important festival this weekend the Middlesborough Fall Festival. 00:22:54 Speaker 4: There you go. 00:22:55 Speaker 2: So in addition to the Apple Festival, the Bourbon Saint James Face Middlesborough Fall Festival is right in there this weekend as well. We'll take a break and be right back. We're here at Shady Rays in the Summits KSR Quarterback Tucky Sports Radio here live. It's Shady Rays. Shady Ray's got great deals on sunglasses, a ton of them in there. They've got the new Kentucky blue and white sunglasses. You got all all kinds of choices, and we've got a few of them on today. Great crowd here eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Some people Ryan writing names of folks that play at Kentucky. Never done. 00:23:35 Speaker 4: Okay, see if you agree, all right? 00:23:37 Speaker 2: The Cameron Mills ever dunk. 00:23:40 Speaker 4: I'd say at least once in his life he dunked. You know, he couldn't do it now, but he was. He was. He was your size, six three, six four. 00:23:47 Speaker 2: A bunch of people say, Deron Lamb, I feel like I remember him dunking that. Wait, do you think Daran threw one? I feel like I do. I got one though. That's the tallest player we've ever had that hasn't dunked, and I guarantee you he never done. All right, See if you can think of one taller Mark Curry. 00:24:04 Speaker 4: That's a good call. 00:24:05 Speaker 2: Curry is the best call yet for people who remember, Like, if you were to tell people Mario's age about Mark Curry, he sounds like a mythic figure. Dude wasn't on scholarship, never was good. Started every game, would play one and a half minutes and then go out, and we usually be down six to nothing by the time he went out. 00:24:24 Speaker 8: I like to think he could dunk. He just never had an opportunity. He wasn't in a game long enough to dunk. 00:24:29 Speaker 4: There may be a lot of guys on that team, Michael Porter with he could done. 00:24:34 Speaker 2: What about Kyle Macy? 00:24:36 Speaker 7: Hmmm? I don't know that that's your era. 00:24:39 Speaker 2: What do you think. 00:24:40 Speaker 4: I don't remember ever seeing him dunk. I don't know if he could. 00:24:42 Speaker 6: I mean, you know he he com buy Michael Jordan to score sixty five points in an NBA game one time. 00:24:48 Speaker 2: I've heard that. Isaiah Brisco. 00:24:53 Speaker 4: I think he did. 00:24:55 Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't remember. That would be that would be it. 00:24:58 Speaker 3: Maria's giving the thumbs up. 00:24:59 Speaker 2: Maria, he got one, all right? What person rights? 00:25:02 Speaker 3: Matt? 00:25:02 Speaker 2: I know who could dun't but never did, Justin Edwards because he missed thirty of them during course. 00:25:07 Speaker 4: Oh my, mean, but that's actually wow. 00:25:10 Speaker 2: To be honest with you, I know that's mean, but that you know that's true. 00:25:16 Speaker 7: This couldn't get it down. 00:25:17 Speaker 2: It just never went in. I don't think i've ever He and Jared Prickett missed more dunks during their career than anyone at Kentucky eight five, nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. No really good games this weekend in college football. I mean, it's a terrible slate, probably for our purposes. The one I want to see the result to max the most is South old Miss going to South Carolina. We beat Old Miss we lost to South Carolina. Old Miss is an eight and a half point favorite though there who do you think gets to win? I think it's gonna be pretty close. 00:25:47 Speaker 5: I want to say, like you said, I want to say South Carolina's day line go up against Ole meisin see if if we were able to do amazing things, Well, maybe the Old Mess line isn't that great, so that would be a big one. 00:25:57 Speaker 2: Then. 00:25:57 Speaker 3: Obviously Louisville SMU will be good to watch. 00:26:00 Speaker 5: I think SMU will get the job done there, so that'll be interesting to watch too. 00:26:04 Speaker 3: With a down the road game. 00:26:06 Speaker 2: Yeah, I I the you know South Carolina. This this scout for the NFL. He said yesterday that he thinks South Carolina has the best defensive line line in the country by decent margin, which I thought was really interesting. We knew it was good, but the best in a decent margin. I think we'll get a notion of that Saturday, because when I look at the two teams, I know South Carolina beat US by twenty four, and I know we beat Old Miss bett there, but I still feel like Old Miss was better. It might end up being different. 00:26:36 Speaker 6: I think Kentucky sheld the blueprint. How you can slow down and beat Ole Miss and South Carolina. They've got the dudes that can do it. Those guys up front on their defensive line, they have a way to I think, to rush to get some pressure on Jackson Dart and slow them down. 00:26:49 Speaker 2: For our purposes, I think we want just you know, for the one percent chance we could play a game for the playoff, we need Old Miss twin. I think. I think because South Carolina is gonna lose some more games almost certainly, Shannon, we need Old Miss to win, so that Old Miss is in contention, maybe has the same record we do, but we've beaten them at home, and we would have a trump card off. 00:27:11 Speaker 8: Talking about South Carolina's defensive line, I mean, we made them look like an NFL line in that game. So maybe, you know, if if South Carolina beats Old Miss, maybe you. 00:27:20 Speaker 7: Feel a little bit better about that South Carolina. 00:27:22 Speaker 2: I want that. I want that Old Miss win to have miit something, and I want that win to have been, you know, something that was very worthwhile. Who's next? Danny is up next? Danny? Go ahead, Danny. 00:27:34 Speaker 9: Hey Man, just a quick football question and I'll listen to the answer. If the season kind of plays out the way we think it's going to you at the end of the year, who do you think got more pressure on them than that Louisville versus UK. 00:27:45 Speaker 2: Game, Brom or It depends on It depends on what everybody's records are, right, So you know, if Louisville loses to Well, they've already lost a Notre Day. If they then lose to Clemson and the they lose to Miami, you know, we'll know they're not very good, I think, and we'll beat them. It'll be fine. But if they come in there, the scenario that would scare Jeff Brom to death is they come in there nine and two and a win can put them into playoffs, and then we knock them out of the playoffs again, Like I think that would be the kind of thing that would scare It's. 00:28:20 Speaker 5: A long way down the road, but there is a world where we could be playing them both programs nine and two, and that would just. 00:28:26 Speaker 3: Be an unbelievable lead up to the week. 00:28:29 Speaker 5: I mean, I heard you guys talk yesterday the day before about would we beat Texas. When we take beating Texas and Tennessee and lose to Louisville, absolutely absolutely not no, because they because we can hang on. 00:28:42 Speaker 2: You go beat Texas on the road, go beat Tennessee on the road, because lose to. 00:28:48 Speaker 4: Louisville at home. 00:28:48 Speaker 2: You'd rather beat Louisville and lose those. 00:28:51 Speaker 5: Because we would be certified in the playoffs and they beat us and knock us out. 00:28:55 Speaker 3: One hundred percent, they knock. 00:28:56 Speaker 5: Us out because if you lose to Louisville with the out of the playoffs and then we have to for a year with Louisville invading us out of the playoffs. I want it to be hopefully we can make it, but I want it to be the other one. 00:29:05 Speaker 2: Here's the scenario I think where both teams would have an unbelievable amount of pressure or excuse me, right, if Kentucky were to win one of Texas and Tennessee. I don't think we can plan on winning both, but win one and we're eight and three and they're sitting there nine and two. Yep, Okay. That would be the scenario where there's still a chance for both teams to make it and the other one would put themselves in a possibility while knocking the other one out. That scenario an eight and three Kentucky team and a nine and two Louisville team would be a scenario where that might be the most tension that game has ever had or will ever have. 00:29:45 Speaker 6: And that's not crazy. That's not a crazy scenario to lay out there like that. I think if their original question where would the most pressure be, you almost feel like maybe it's on stoops, it's at home, and you've got to you just beat them out their place last year. 00:29:57 Speaker 2: In the scenario I gave you yes. Now, if we're six and four, I don't know that I agree with that right. But but if if you had a scenario, Shandon, where there was something to play for and to get there after this gauntlet of an SEC schedule, Louisville was all that stood in your way, Shannon, you would have to win that game. 00:30:17 Speaker 7: I would love that scenario if it played out that way. 00:30:19 Speaker 8: And to me, in my opinion, that's why you have to keep Louisville on the schedule, because there would be nothing sweeter than beating Louisville, knocking them by a playoff contention and you have a chance to go to That's. 00:30:28 Speaker 3: Why this playoff is so good. 00:30:29 Speaker 5: Because everyone said, oh, it means regular season game is gonna mean less. 00:30:33 Speaker 3: They made so much more. 00:30:34 Speaker 5: That's so much more because if we were going into that game, and if we were eight and three and they were eight and three, it would be like, yeah, okay, big game for us, big game for them, but not big game in the whole scheme of things. 00:30:45 Speaker 3: It means a playoff. 00:30:46 Speaker 7: Berth. 00:30:46 Speaker 2: Now, if we played that, if if you were to, if you were to play it out like that, also, did George Alabama seem less interesting because the play I mean that George Alabama game. Did those guys half trive? Well, they played all out? But that's scenario would be awesome. And I'm with you, Shannon, you can't cancel that game. I'll be the last person in the state saying if I have to that. You got to play the players they want that game. Absolutely absolutely, we have to play that game. Who's next? Andy? 00:31:15 Speaker 4: Is up next? 00:31:16 Speaker 2: Andy? Go ahead? Andy? 00:31:18 Speaker 10: Hey man, I got a question for you. Since you're the shoe at his first well, I mean, you know a lot more about it than I. Okay, I'm going to buy a pair of your pair of shoes, and someone of the price rings out off to overwhere. 00:31:38 Speaker 2: Okay, you can get a really nice pair of shoes for that. 00:31:40 Speaker 10: Ay, okay, but I'm looking for something that will be comfortable, but yet you know, pretty fashionable too. 00:31:47 Speaker 2: All right, that's here's what I want. Look at that. 00:32:16 Speaker 5: And you want to give uppies comfort for fashion, It's something he might have to sacrifice. 00:32:21 Speaker 2: I understand, but I like that Mario. Mario will make sure he's got the best sneakers. 00:32:25 Speaker 4: I looked at immediately. Look and see if you what you're gonna have on today? 00:32:29 Speaker 2: These are Jordan for raptors. Do you think they will show up for you tomorrow with Navy and Air Force, even bigger crowd, even bigger crowd. Okay, now, will you stop by and say hi to people? So let's pick it the the Mario game of the week. 00:35:48 Speaker 4: All right, Max. 00:35:49 Speaker 2: So you got Navy or air Force. 00:35:50 Speaker 3: Navy's a wagon. 00:35:51 Speaker 5: I'd love to see Navy play Ammy at the back end of the season. Both undefeated for a playoffs, but that would be awesome. So I'll take Navy. 00:35:57 Speaker 2: I'll take the Navy as well. 00:35:58 Speaker 6: You got you know, all an army guy. My brother went to West Point. I hate to pick Navy because of him, but the Navy's gonna win. 00:36:03 Speaker 2: I go Navy, Shannon, air Force respective air Force? All right, air Force. There we go. Appreciate you give him Mario big round as plause ten other games, like we said at Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas A and m and uh South Carolina, Old miss. I have a fact for you based on uh so somebody just sent in Ryan. I feel like you'll get this right. Okay, can you name the only high school in America that is part of one state high school association but is physically located in a different state. Oh, and it's in Kentucky. The only high school in America that is part of one state high school association but is physically located in a different state. Can you get this correct? Kentucky is the only one that has it, and it's one. 00:37:04 Speaker 4: School Fulton County. 00:37:07 Speaker 2: That's actually a good gas, But that's incorrect. Anybody else have a gas? Anybody? Belfrey's now Fort Campbell High School is actually in Tennessee, but plays in the Kentucky thinks it was a based on Max's experience yesterday Fort Knox. So there's your. 00:37:27 Speaker 4: Little fat good. 00:37:28 Speaker 7: I love that. 00:37:28 Speaker 2: Who's up next? Is up next? Greg? 00:37:32 Speaker 4: Go ahead? 00:37:32 Speaker 2: Greg? I learned that on my trip. 00:37:34 Speaker 4: Very good? 00:37:35 Speaker 2: Go ahead, Greg. 00:37:35 Speaker 11: I'm talking again about Ricky Farmer here, and uh all right. I had a friend that went to Barnstorm Tour after Richie senior season and he claimed to me that Richie Farmer was dunking all over the play don't everything. 00:37:55 Speaker 2: Don't believe it. I mean, I'm gonna thrown a dunk down. But Shannon Richie Farmer was not dunking on plays. 00:38:02 Speaker 7: I said, I don't know about that. I think Richie can't done it. 00:38:06 Speaker 2: I don't believe. 00:38:07 Speaker 11: I believe Richie claimed on this show that he had a forty. 00:38:15 Speaker 2: A lot of things have been claimed on this show too that aren't necessarily the case. 00:38:20 Speaker 11: I'm gonna throw out the gunk with somebody else call in and very bad. 00:38:24 Speaker 2: All right, we'll see. I appreciate the call. Feldhouse could dunk, Pelfrey could dunk. 00:38:30 Speaker 6: You know, Richie was in great shape playing for Patino. I can see him maybe being able to dunk. 00:38:35 Speaker 2: Sean Woods could dunk. Oh yeah, so three of the four, Richie, I love you. I think there's a good chance Buck Stivers don't as you did. Now he can outshoot anybody. Who's up next, David? Go ahead, David. 00:38:51 Speaker 11: Hey, Matt, sorry on topic today. 00:38:55 Speaker 2: You usually catch up on the podcast. 00:38:58 Speaker 9: I was wondering, would you have to have a Bunyan lesson or a Tim Couch story? 00:39:04 Speaker 7: What a Bunyan lesson or a Tell McCouch story. 00:39:09 Speaker 2: Oh, I know what he's talking about. Appreciate the call. By the way, I had a lot of people after our show yesterday uh, tell me about their bunyans on the text machine you want to hear about Yeah, I mean, if you wanted a reply on the text machine, starting at about your bunions was probably not the way to go. But I was amazed shit at how many people guessed which CBS I was talking about, because it is I'm telling you, you could do a reality show in that right, it's the one in Louisville. 00:39:38 Speaker 7: I think I know the one. 00:39:39 Speaker 2: Yes, I mean, I'm telling you you could do you could do a reality show. Who's next? Kyle is up next? Kyle? Go ahead, Kyle? 00:39:50 Speaker 5: Two things for you for you all right? 00:39:52 Speaker 1: The first one, if we're able to be Duke in the champions class that we haven't seen it a long. 00:40:01 Speaker 2: I think if we are on that point, before you go to the second, Before you go the second one, I think if we beat Duke to start the season, Ryan, this fan base will lose their collective minds. I mean, the next few games will be absolutely awesome. 00:40:15 Speaker 4: We're overdue to celebrate. 00:40:17 Speaker 6: We're an overdue fan base to have something to be excited about, and that would do it. Start the season all with the new coach, new players, and beat Duke that would absolutely do it. 00:40:24 Speaker 2: One of the underrated things. Drew talks about this a lot. We haven't been good at the Champions Classic. We've been like I think we're like two and six or two and seven in the last eight or nine of them. We need. I'm not saying we're gonna beat them, because I think they're gonna be really good, but it would be awesome for the excitement of this fan base, Max to go get a win in that early game. I mean, I don't know if you've even seen us win a Champions Classic game. 00:40:49 Speaker 5: I was gonna say, I was gonna hop On Drewy's point, it seems like at the start of the season will drop a couple early and people and cal. 00:40:54 Speaker 3: Would always say, well, well young, which is true. This year is the opposite. 00:40:57 Speaker 2: When is the last time we won a Champions Classic game? They didn't play at the COVID year that the year after that, so they didn't play it that year. I think we lost the last couple. Are we talking pre COVID since we've won a Champions Classic game? I can no we won that when that was when I got McConnell kicked me off the air. That was my last day on the air, and they won, and they won. 00:41:21 Speaker 4: I did the. 00:41:22 Speaker 2: Postgame show, and you may remember I wasn't allowed to be on the show the next day. 00:41:25 Speaker 4: So it's all Mitch mcconald's fault, Mitch. 00:41:26 Speaker 2: McConnell with the curse of Mitch McConnell. Who what was your second point, sir, he's gone, no, that's right, that we that was Tyres MAXI scored like thirty points in. 00:41:39 Speaker 4: The garden, right, Oh yeah, yeah. 00:41:42 Speaker 2: I went to the game. It was the night of the governor's election, I remember, And then I did the postgame show at like one in the morning, and then the next day woke up and had a message I couldn't be on the radio. 00:41:55 Speaker 4: Wow, what a great memory. 00:41:56 Speaker 2: So that it's time, it's time to reverse that by going and winning. Here we're gonna take a break. We are here in Lexington at Shady rays A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
