But anytime I get an owner at a press conference, oh that's shooting fish in a barrel for the most part, when you get them and you could ask them questions because normally you don't get access to talk to an owner. And the Buffalo media got a gift yesterday they got to ask about the situation with Sean McDermott and moving forward in Buffalo New Stadium, coming up that the fact that or apparently the fact that Josh Allen was so emotional, maybe more emotional than in previous years, maybe led to the final decision that Terry Pogoula was going to fire Sean McDermott. Now, this is a state of the union. That's I don't think that's asking much for an owner to get in front of the media and just say we have a finite amount of time. It's going to be an hour, and you know, do it as a town hall or let fans ask you how about that? That's even better.

I mean, you get to coach the Cowboys, but you're not really coaching the cowboys because Jerry's going to get all the credit. You're going to get the blame. I wonder a lot of the Buffalo and Buffalo media has said Josh Allen has never been this emotional at a press conference after a devastating playoff love and I know he didn't play well, but yeah, I wonder too if part of the reason he was so much more emotional was because he had a pretty good idea in his eyes, he cost his coaches job.

Speaker 2: I think it's fair to ask that or wonder that, because when we were talking to the Buffalo Bill's beat reporter Skirsky, you know, Josh Allen didn't meet with the media on Sunday, so they play their game Saturday and then he normally meets with the media on Sunday. I get the feeling that he knew that Sean McDermott was going to be fired and wanted to wait until it happened and Ownership and GM get in front of the media before he does that. That's the sense, and maybe he was overcome with emotion because he knew if he plays like Josh Allen, they win that game, and he didn't, and he knows that Sean McDermott is going to get fired, or the feeling that he's going to get fired. You got some tight ends, you know, your wide receivers aren't threatening, and your defense not as formidable as it's been before. So yes, you did have an open path to go at least to the AFC title game. I get that, But do I think they're better than Denver? Not the rosters, But I still if I got Josh Allen, that's an advantage nobody else has. But I have to get to that point where Josh Allen will be the difference. Well he would have been the difference if he played like Josh Allen, they win. But Denver, to me young team got a quarterback on a rookie deal. I got a really good defense in there, and they can add to that roster. So I'd feel, you know, is Buffalo better than Jacksonville? Well, yeah, they beat Jacksonville in Jacksonville. Are they better than the Texans? Yeah? Are they better than the Patriots? No? Are they better than Denver? Now I'm looking at the roster and once again, the Patriots have a quarterback on a rookie deal, and you gotta factor that in.

Speaker 2: The NFL Honors finalist was announced so MVP and other awards for the twenty twenty five season. These are the players who are nominated for Most Valuable. This will be the NFL Honors ceremony February fifth, and voters were asked to rank their top five picks for all of these categories. Top five for MVP, top three for other awards. Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Drake May, Christian McCaffrey, and Matthew Stafford for MVP. If I told you in August this would be the list, I think you would go. Trevor Lawrence. I had McCaffrey as the offensive player of the year when the season started, Matthew Stafford. The reason why I didn't pick the Rams because I didn't know if Matthew Stafford could stay healthy. If you would have said, hey, he's going to play all year and throw forty touchdowns, I would have picked the Rams to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. It's that good roster. Drake May. We would have been surprised. We'd be like, man, that's a pretty big jump for a second year quarterback with you know, a new head coach there. Defensive Player of the Year, Will Anderson Junior, the third of the Texans, Nick Benito of the Broncos, Miles Garrett, the Browns, Aiden Hutchinson, Micah Parsons, Well, Micah, we would have said, of course. But if I said, well, he's going to be on Green Bay, then you would have been like, oh, okayh Will Anderson, great player. It's Miles Garrett. Miles Garrett will win this. It's not even close. Offensive Player of the Year Drake May, Christian McCaffrey, Pookinakua, Vijon Robinson, and Jackson Smith Nujigba. I'm going to say Pookin a coua is going to be your winner there, And I don't think anybody would have been surprised if I said that at the beginning of the year. Offensive Rookie of the Year, Jackson dart Amecca Buka, Traveon Henderson, who he underrated player with the Patriots, uh, Teed McMillan of the Panthers, and Tyler Shuck of the Saints. All right, yeah, who is gonna win Offensive Rookie of the Year? Tyler Shuck did a really good job of the Saints. McMillan is a big time receiver. Henderson underrated, uh Buca started out really hot, but then so did Tampa and then Jackson Dark. Wow, I'm gonna I'm gonna give it to Teed McMillan with the Panthers. They made the playoffs and he was a go to guy. He was a big time in that game in the playoffs. Defensive Rookie of the Year. They already announced that this is the Associated Press. Carson Sweessinger of the Browns is going to win this. Come Back Player of the Year, Stephan Diggs, Aiden Hutchinson, Trevor Lawrence, Christian McCaffrey, and Dak Prescott. I mean, Hutchinson came back but I don't know what kind of numbers he had. Detroit didn't make the playoffs. I'm gonna say Trevor Lawrence. I'll say Trevor Lawrence Coach of the Year. Boy, this is competitive. Liam Cohen, Jacksonville, Ben Johnson, Bears, Mike McDonald Seattle, Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco, Mike Rabel Patriots. I think this was the best coaching job Kyle Shanahan did. And I don't know when the voting is done. I'm gonna guess at the end of the regular season, I'm gonna give it to Liam Cohen.

So this is a theory making the rounds on the internet, and it's crept into the locker room with all the different injuries, and maybe this has to do with excessive exposure to a power grid. They've been in Senate Clara training since the early nineteen eighties and the substation came in a couple of years later. But now, I mean even their general manager had to address this yesterday. Speaker 13: I think, regardless of what the owner said, and you know that press conference and the debacle that it was, I think he was fired because when you look at it on the surface, they have the best quarterback in football, and I think over the last couple of years he's proven that and far that they have nothing to show for it, and Josh Allen is entering his prime. And when you have the best player in the sport, kind of like when the Warriors had Steph Curry when the Bulls have Michael Jordan, and like, you gotta win something, you gotta show something, and maybe, just maybe, Sean McDermott got them to the precipice the way that Mark Jackson did the Warriors, but you need Steve Curry to get them over the hump. And so I think at his core, Terry Pagoula is thinking that Sean McDermott got this guy to the precipice, but I need somebody else to get us over the hump. Now, the press conference and his reasoning for firing him, that's a whole nother story because he made a bunch of excuses and a lot of finger pointed. But I think at the core the reason he fired him was because he couldn't get them over the hump.

And then later he tried to come back and walking back. When you're in a position of leadership, when you're right, you tell people you're right. When you're wrong, you tell people you're right. You always You're always the guy that stands up there and takes all the bullets. Yesterday was a masterclass in evasion, in an evasive maneuvers based on the answers to the questions.

Speaker 13: Why would you go into that situation and work for Terry Pagula or would you work for Steve Bushatti. I think the reason people are going to choose Buffalo is because of Josh Allen. But if it weren't for Josh Allen, that job goes I think goes behind Tennessee, it goes behind Baltimore. But because of Josh Allen and because of his greatness and him being the best player in football, I think somebody notable is still gonna take the.

Speaker 13: I think Jared Stidham because I think the expectations of what Jared Stidham's teammates has been established throughout the season. You know the defense is going to be stellar, you know that the offense is going to be ran by Sean Payton. I actually would throw another variable in their DP because Sean Payton has done something that I don't know if you guys have talked about. Remember when he was in New Orleans and Drew Brees missed those five or six games, Teddy Bridgewater came in and went five to zero. So Sean Payton is proven he can win with the backup quarterback. Now, Jared Stidham is a better backup based on not my words, but based on Sean Payton's words, because Sean Payton told us Jared Stidham is one of the best thirty two quarterbacks in football. So if that's the case, then pressure on you, Sean Payton. We've seen you do it before in New Orleans. Now can you do it again with Jared stilldem who you told us was a better player. So I think the pressures on Sean Payton. Everybody else can be themselves, But can Sean Payton coach a game that allows this quarterback to show the talent that you've told us that he has.

He was trying to make heroic plays. That's when you know the moment is too big. That's when you know you're out of your comfort zone. It's no different than you, Dan. How could somebody tell when you're uncomfortable? It's because you would probably not be the seamless guy that you always are on the radio and television. You would start up blah blah blah blah blah blah, like you would start doing things that America doesn't normally see you do. It's the same way with a quarterback or any of the player when you try to do things that you don't normally do, you're MVP.

Stefan Diggs coming off in ACL, Josh McDaniel, Kai Shan BOUDI you know, those are the guys that he's got and and I think that you know, when you look at the weapons and look at what they've done and look at the seed that they have, how could you not choose Drake May. Now, Matthew Stafford's numbers are going to be better, and they should be better. He's got a better receiving corps, he's got a better team. I think you got to look at New England and say, man, what Drake May's done? Man like the kid, especially in year two, and I think the sky's the limit.

Speaker 13: It's your ability to make decisions based on where you are and the people around you that you work with and the environment that you're in. When it's the off season and I am hanging out with my buddies and you know, we're deciding if we're gonna gamble on the golf course.

Speaker 13: But when I walk into work, I knowiately immediately when I walk into work, there's a certain way we do things. There's a certain way I carry myself. There's a certain level of decision making and the coorum that I must have at my place of work based on my co workers and based on my place of employment. That's culture, And I'm gonna do those things when nobody else is around. I'm gonna do those things when nobody else is watching. I always tell my children I judge my level of parenting based on your level of decision making, not just when people are around, but when nobody is looking. I have to be a good enough parent where you make great decision even when no one's watching. Now, it doesn't always work out that way, of course, everybody's got kids that knows that. But I think you can get a level of the culture in your home, of the culture in your workplace based on the decision making that your kids and your employees make. And here's the thing, then haven't you often heard of this? The best led teams are what player led teams. If the coach has to tell you everything to do, then the coach probably hadn't done a good enough job itself.

And I saw where I think it was Matthew Berry does college football for the mothership. It was like LSU is the the final hope for the SEC. And when I went back for the anniversary, I did talk to him and I said, you know, it mean the world. I didn't want Chris to disappear, and I thought he was disappearing and he meant too much to the place. He's the most important person who's ever walked in that building. And I said, name a building, have a statue, whatever, Just don't forget him. Him and Bob Lee, tom MEAs. Never forget them. They might disappear from the you know, the public eye. But I just didn't want that to happen to Chris because in large part I got my opportunity because I wanted to be there. I wanted to be in that environment, and Chris created that environment.

Speaker 2: The Charlotte Observer, because I was told so. I came over from CNN, and the person who hired me, John Walsh, said hey, just observe for three months. Three months and I would just go in there and I would be there in the evening and I'd be around whether it was Chris or Tommy, Tim Brando, there were Kerry Ross like there were there were people who were in there, and all I did is just watch. I only needed to watch probably for you know, two or three days. But Chris would always come in and he'd see me and he goes, it's the Charlotte Observer. And I just remember they were gambling on sporting events like it was. It was pretty wild in there. It was fun. And then the new boss who headed up Sports Center, John Walsh, he cleaned that up. We're like, we're we're not going to be doing that. We'll still have fun ish, but we're going to be journalists. We're going to be breaking stories. And I was kind of seen as, uh, okay, here comes Golden Boy, and I wanted to have as much fun as they were having. It was I came from CNN, and our show was better than Sports Center Sports Tonight with Nick Charles and Fred Hickman. It was better than what ESPN had and John Walsh they had a Sports center. Knew that, and he wanted to incorporate more of that. He wanted reporting, breaking stories, good writing. He could still have fun. He didn't want us to have as much fun as Chris Berman was having because the line for management ownership was we don't want to have another Berman. And I'm thinking, oh my god, you can't have enough talk about not getting it. Oh, they did not get it. It was all it was so shortsighted, myopic that they didn't realize there aren't many people in this business who have that kind of talent, and they you know, we don't want another Chris Berman. I'm thinking, oh my goodness.
