<v Speaker 1>Go be beer.
<v Speaker 2>It's the Internet. You're busy.
<v Speaker 1>Let's do this October twenty first, twenty twenty four for
<v Speaker 1>the next hour or so, let me help you sort
<v Speaker 1>through the world of gaming on Game Mess Mornings.
<v Speaker 2>Live with Me.
<v Speaker 1>Jeff Grubb today that Nintendo playtest is starting soon and
<v Speaker 1>details have begun to leak. But first please join me
<v Speaker 1>and welcoming today's co host the Game Mess Mornings. It's
<v Speaker 1>Jason Finelli. Everybody, Jason, how are you doing?
<v Speaker 3>I am doing wonderfully, sir. It is a good Monday morning,
<v Speaker 3>big big day here in the Finelle household. For the
<v Speaker 3>first time, Edver, I am taking the elder gimmick, my
<v Speaker 3>older daughter to Monday Night Raw from the Wells fargoson Wow, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
<v Speaker 3>This evening. We made the signs. I bought her the
<v Speaker 3>Live Morgan t shirt that wants to see Live. We
<v Speaker 3>are very excited. We've got pretty good seats too. I'm
<v Speaker 3>really I'm really, uh really really looking forward to it.
<v Speaker 3>I told her last Tuesday, and it's all she talked
<v Speaker 3>about all weekend. We went to Fantastic, We went to
<v Speaker 3>a family party on Saturday, and she told the same
<v Speaker 3>person three different times. I just kept forgetting that she
<v Speaker 3>was telling people. So, yeah, looking forward to that. We're
<v Speaker 3>going with my it's my it's my wife's cousin's husband.
<v Speaker 3>So what's that a cousin in law and a degree separation?
<v Speaker 3>There a cousin husband. I like that husband and his son.
<v Speaker 3>It's also his first show. Uh so we're going to
<v Speaker 3>get two first shows at the same time. And yeah,
<v Speaker 3>very much looking forward to it. The these the Wyat
<v Speaker 3>six are teasing that they're coming back tonight. That's my
<v Speaker 3>favorite gimmick at the moment. It's a it's gonna be
<v Speaker 3>a good time. One quick technical thing on my side
<v Speaker 3>the camera. I see it in the stream. But I
<v Speaker 3>don't have you in discord anymore. That's fine, it'sine because
<v Speaker 3>and now you're back on discord. Never mind, you fix it.
<v Speaker 2>All right, I am. I'm gonna try to pre order
<v Speaker 2>this analog three D right now. Let's do that for it.
<v Speaker 1>Please draw a box around the biggest airplane that's I mean,
<v Speaker 1>it's there's only one airplane.
<v Speaker 2>What are you talk about?
<v Speaker 1>Man?
<v Speaker 3>Is it the one that you're in? Is the one
<v Speaker 3>that you It.
<v Speaker 2>Was a dream.
<v Speaker 1>It's gotta be a Boeing it was pretty big. You're
<v Speaker 1>in line to check out calculating estimated weight time. Uh
<v Speaker 1>oh okay, so we'll see how that goes. I guess
<v Speaker 1>I'll have to check in on this in the.
<v Speaker 3>Middle of the stream. We're gonna hear that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah for real.
<v Speaker 1>Well, we'll see if I'm able to actually pull this
<v Speaker 1>off during the show.
<v Speaker 2>Probably not.
<v Speaker 1>I'm being told to check in with the producer here.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe don't do that, all Cap, says Jan. Well, listen,
<v Speaker 1>it just went up for pre order seven minutes ago.
<v Speaker 1>What choice do I have? All right, Well, we'll see
<v Speaker 1>how that goes. I am excited for you in the gimmick.
<v Speaker 1>That sounds like a good time. I'm over here. I'm
<v Speaker 1>pretty well rested because I went to sleep early last night.
<v Speaker 1>I did not stay up like I did the night before,
<v Speaker 1>just like doing runs in Astro until I think I
<v Speaker 1>think it was like five am.
<v Speaker 2>I was uhh yeah, like it was.
<v Speaker 1>It was crazy because earlier in the night I was
<v Speaker 1>like laying laid in bed, helping the kid the game
<v Speaker 1>to fall asleep, fall asleep, And while I was doing that,
<v Speaker 1>I was on the steam deck and that's all the
<v Speaker 1>way upstairs, like two floors up from where the PS
<v Speaker 1>five is, and I was streaming to the steam deck
<v Speaker 1>using Chiaki, and it was like over a shaky maybe
<v Speaker 1>five gigahertz connection and uh it was laggy. Uh and
<v Speaker 1>it was like it was artifacting. I was getting like
<v Speaker 1>those big pixel blocking so it was like it looked
<v Speaker 1>really rough, and I was still setting pretty good times.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, I was like so into it that
<v Speaker 1>it was like doing pretty well despite all of that.
<v Speaker 1>And then I went down to the PS five and
<v Speaker 1>took the the weights off like rock Lea, and uh,
<v Speaker 1>it was immediately just doing.
<v Speaker 2>Much much much better.
<v Speaker 1>Although I gotta say it's almost better to play that
<v Speaker 1>game on the steam deck because the uh I like
<v Speaker 1>to dual sense controller. I'm not going to be some
<v Speaker 1>of the completely complaints about it, but I have issues
<v Speaker 1>with the dual sense and I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>When I'm using it for.
<v Speaker 1>A little bit of time, I have to like force
<v Speaker 1>it into the correct ergonomic position as opposed to it
<v Speaker 1>just naturally falling falling into the ergonomic position, and so
<v Speaker 1>I have to like actively think about it. So playing
<v Speaker 1>on the steam deck was real nice, but I have
<v Speaker 1>I have sent my best times using a shoot PS.
<v Speaker 2>Five I am sixty fourth in the world right now.
<v Speaker 1>I think actually sixty fifth because I think Jesse Vittelli
<v Speaker 1>just beat me, so oh no, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Well listen, I knew doing here. I know.
<v Speaker 1>God, So you're telling me, I'm so, I think I'm
<v Speaker 1>at a twenty eight point five in that range.
<v Speaker 2>So it was Jesse, Now I am, yes, Sewn.
<v Speaker 1>Sean actually pointed out I just did this to Sean,
<v Speaker 1>remapping R two to R one, so boosting feels better.
<v Speaker 1>I did that as well, just for the first time
<v Speaker 1>this morning.
<v Speaker 3>And Dan reichert reporting in and chat beef Hammer has
<v Speaker 3>also eclipsed you. You're sixty six.
<v Speaker 1>Oh wow, okay, all right, so it's happening, you know,
<v Speaker 1>you know, Dan, Mike, Kayla, my Dan's sister. All these
<v Speaker 1>people are behind me. Now I'm not really worried about
<v Speaker 1>them anymore. I am like, we're going for top ten,
<v Speaker 1>that's what we're aiming for. But yeah, like twenty eight
<v Speaker 1>and a half seconds, I think we're the pace we're headed.
<v Speaker 1>I do think one of us might be able to
<v Speaker 1>get near twenty seven seconds, so like twenty seven point
<v Speaker 1>nine or something like that, and I feel my best
<v Speaker 1>run so far. There's a one last hop that you
<v Speaker 1>do by bouncing off a bounce pad, and if you
<v Speaker 1>time it right and you do a short boost into it,
<v Speaker 1>you'll do the perfect little hop right onto the platform
<v Speaker 1>and without any extra air. And on my best run
<v Speaker 1>so far, I did like a huge hop and so
<v Speaker 1>I go up and I got a bunch of air.
<v Speaker 1>So there's like time right there that it would have
<v Speaker 1>been faster, like at least a tenth of a second.
<v Speaker 1>But bro, I think it's a little bit more than that.
<v Speaker 1>So it's like I already know I can do it faster.
<v Speaker 1>So I'm sitting here, Jason, I'm talking to you, but
<v Speaker 1>I am I am thinking about.
<v Speaker 3>The gears are turning. When does the when does the
<v Speaker 3>grub done quick stream happen? Well?
<v Speaker 1>Well, probably was so every Friday with everyday there's a
<v Speaker 1>new level every Friday.
<v Speaker 2>Well, we'll do our uh, we'll.
<v Speaker 1>Do upf with a run of this at least that's
<v Speaker 1>the plan for now. So we'll do the new level
<v Speaker 1>at the very least. But I'll probably stream me playing
<v Speaker 1>some of this this first level here again.
<v Speaker 2>This week. I was like, here's how sick it was.
<v Speaker 1>I was playing the level in my head when I
<v Speaker 1>was just tra actually trying to go to sleep. And
<v Speaker 1>that's not like, oh, I'm imagining running.
<v Speaker 3>No.
<v Speaker 1>I was doing the button presses for the dog boost
<v Speaker 1>in my head, and I could feel my body lurching
<v Speaker 1>forward like I could just like I was actually playing
<v Speaker 1>the level in my head. That's how ingrained it's become.
<v Speaker 1>So it's a sickness, and I'm not proud.
<v Speaker 3>When do we call astrobots anonymous?
<v Speaker 1>When we call God if it existed, it would have
<v Speaker 1>been called long ago. But yeah, I'm this is what
<v Speaker 1>I was hoping for, and we're here. I'm very excited
<v Speaker 1>about it.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, man, let's do it.
<v Speaker 2>Let's do an analog check. It's here. You're in line
<v Speaker 2>less than a minute.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, well, I guess let's uh, let's explain what we
<v Speaker 1>do here most week days, I, Jeff Greb, will help
<v Speaker 1>use your gaming life back together. That includes breaking news
<v Speaker 1>and maybe even some of our own original reporting. For
<v Speaker 1>all these topics, I'll get the input of a bona
<v Speaker 1>fide expert who will make me look smart. If you
<v Speaker 1>were watching live on twitch welcome, you can always listen
<v Speaker 1>to the show later on podcast feeds by searching for
<v Speaker 1>Game mess Mornings or find the RSS on giant bomb
<v Speaker 1>dot com. You can also catch the show later with
<v Speaker 1>chapters and timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube, All right, before
<v Speaker 1>we do that, let's see here, what's my credit card information?
<v Speaker 4>Uh, let's go do that. Jeff Grub Social Uh huh,
<v Speaker 4>there we go. First name, Jeff Grub company not applicable
<v Speaker 4>because they're not paying for it.
<v Speaker 3>Capitalism mess mornings Here.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly, we'll teach you how to spend some money.
<v Speaker 3>Everybody not sponsored by Analogue?
<v Speaker 2>No, absolutely not. Do I want priority shipping.
<v Speaker 1>I'll just go domestic. Let's save some money. You're fine, Yeah, exactly,
<v Speaker 1>It's gonna take a while regardless. All right, is this
<v Speaker 1>gonna okay? It is going to actually take my save
<v Speaker 1>credit card information. Otherwise we just would have been shut
<v Speaker 1>out of luck because I'm not gonna go get my wallet.
<v Speaker 2>All right, I think we are processed. Let's see it's
<v Speaker 2>loading everybody.
<v Speaker 3>Let's hope, Jase, you didn't realize chat. The news today
<v Speaker 3>is that the Analog N sixty four Analog three D
<v Speaker 3>I think it's called is out and you could pre
<v Speaker 3>order it.
<v Speaker 1>Wait, okay, it's confirmed now you could say it. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>you could go pre order yours now that I pre
<v Speaker 1>ordered vine. So there we go. All right, let's get
<v Speaker 1>into it with our first story here, Nintendo's mysterious Switch
<v Speaker 1>play test details have been revealed despite Nintendo's best efforts.
<v Speaker 2>This is from John Walker.
<v Speaker 1>At Kotaku Real quick, up top. Let me just wrap
<v Speaker 1>with Nintendo real quick. I'm just gonna talk about information
<v Speaker 1>that's been made public. I am in this thing. I've
<v Speaker 1>not like downloaded the code or anything yet. I don't
<v Speaker 1>think I've agreed to anything, but I'm not going to
<v Speaker 1>speak about any information based on anything I got from there,
<v Speaker 1>just stuff that is public.
<v Speaker 2>And can be talked about. Because of that, When.
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo announced a secretive ten thousand person play tests for
<v Speaker 1>an NDA and rapped project, speculation naturally ran wild. While
<v Speaker 1>something to do with the upcoming reveal, while something to
<v Speaker 1>do with the upcoming reveal and release of the Switch's
<v Speaker 1>successor seemed the most popular idea, others wondered if it
<v Speaker 1>might be some sort of expansion for the Switch. Online
<v Speaker 1>subscription places were filled up within seconds, with participants sworn
<v Speaker 1>to secrecy, so of course it only was a matter
<v Speaker 1>of time before the details excuse me leaked. Sounds like
<v Speaker 1>it's an MMO of some sort, Jason Yauco keep reading here.
<v Speaker 1>The first person to break the rule, a Twitter user
<v Speaker 1>called Ethan. This guy posted some some images revealing the
<v Speaker 1>nature of the project, which have inevitably since been removed.
<v Speaker 1>This followed in update by Nintendo to the playtest site
<v Speaker 1>only visible to those who are among the chosen ten thousand,
<v Speaker 1>that allows them to download the unnamed test software to
<v Speaker 1>both phone and switch and what is.
<v Speaker 2>That test software?
<v Speaker 1>Where it's reported by the Verge that the now deleted
<v Speaker 1>screenshots originally showed images of Nintendo's first attempt at an MMO.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, it's a massive anti climax. These things always are.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, I'm kind of like, what what do
<v Speaker 2>you mean?
<v Speaker 1>An MMO still making an MMOs some fifteen years after
<v Speaker 1>anyone cared about them is at least interesting in and
<v Speaker 1>of itself. And we're not talking about fighting orcs and
<v Speaker 1>buying mounts here, but rather something that looks like a
<v Speaker 1>fever dream Peter Malnu might have after playing too much Minecraft.
<v Speaker 1>In this game, the text beneath a section titled the
<v Speaker 1>game's purpose reads, the goal is to work with others
<v Speaker 1>to fully develop a massive expansive planet by utilizing creativity
<v Speaker 1>and farmed resources. The accompanying picture, which we won't be posting,
<v Speaker 1>showed a large sphere covered in an expansive grid, some
<v Speaker 1>of its squares filled in with various amounts of blue.
<v Speaker 1>The description continues, as you progress across the planet, you'll
<v Speaker 1>discover new lands, enemies, and resources that will become essential
<v Speaker 1>to your journey. A second screenshot showed what looked like
<v Speaker 1>tiny Minecraft worlds in bell jars with the words throughout
<v Speaker 1>your Adventure. Oh no, that got deleted here, so I
<v Speaker 1>don't know what it said. Throughout your Adventure players will
<v Speaker 1>be granted special tools known as beacons. These beacons emit
<v Speaker 1>a healing light that purifies the development, develops and develops
<v Speaker 1>the land. The higher your beacon is placed, the wider
<v Speaker 1>it's beacon zone becomes. Within your beacon zone, your best
<v Speaker 1>work can be done. Players will repeat this process until
<v Speaker 1>their current planetary block is considered fully developed. The final
<v Speaker 1>leaked piece of information is entitled the Devcore and shows
<v Speaker 1>a large room made of blocks in which fall guys
<v Speaker 1>esque characters run around, one carrying a block above his head.
<v Speaker 1>It says that this is a separate space from the
<v Speaker 1>planet you'll be developed developing. Think of it as a
<v Speaker 1>social hub to gather with other players. It will also
<v Speaker 1>be the location where you can level up your character,
<v Speaker 1>get items, and commune with others and more.
<v Speaker 3>Uh yeah, what so, just just to help you out
<v Speaker 3>here that those words did not get cut off. The
<v Speaker 3>words that he quoted worth.
<v Speaker 1>Right, Okay, so the Beacon zone, we were talking the
<v Speaker 1>Beacon zone.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you so much.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, we were talking. We were talking Beacon Zone. But
<v Speaker 3>also to echo what you said when you were finished reading.
<v Speaker 3>What the hell is going on here? This is one
<v Speaker 3>of those things that sounds like it's not something we
<v Speaker 3>ever thought we'd ever wanted, But because it's Nintendo and
<v Speaker 3>they figured out a way to make it super fun
<v Speaker 3>and addicting and child friendly, everyone's going to be talking
<v Speaker 3>about it when it finally launches. And that's that just
<v Speaker 3>seems to be what they do. I have no idea
<v Speaker 3>what to make of this, I've none.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean I think it's like it's mostly interesting
<v Speaker 1>because they're doing it as a test, right, I kind
<v Speaker 1>of I could always imagine Nintendo experimenting with all kinds
<v Speaker 1>of stuff in the background, and most of it doesn't
<v Speaker 1>get like super far. Obviously, the vast majority of it
<v Speaker 1>never comes out. They just I'm sure they have a
<v Speaker 1>research development team that just is always messing around.
<v Speaker 2>With various stuff.
<v Speaker 1>The fact that they feel they need to run a
<v Speaker 1>test just it's like this is something they're looking to
<v Speaker 1>bring to market at some point, and I'm like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>well what makes it special?
<v Speaker 2>It sounds weird and interesting.
<v Speaker 1>It sounds like a mix of I don't know, PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>Home and Minecraft for sure, and honestly, yeah, Peter MALINU
<v Speaker 1>like the Cube where it's like, yeah, everyone is on
<v Speaker 1>this world sphere and everyone's claiming certains certain amounts of it.
<v Speaker 1>To what end, I don't know, but I mean it
<v Speaker 1>sounds potentially interesting. It sounds weird in the way that
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo games can be weird, which I welcome. Also, it
<v Speaker 1>sounds like something that you know could come out and
<v Speaker 1>no one cares about as well.
<v Speaker 2>But we'll see.
<v Speaker 3>Now. As you mentioned, I think there are two particularly
<v Speaker 3>notable things to think about while you're going through the story.
<v Speaker 3>One is what you already said. The fact that they
<v Speaker 3>have brought this as a play test to people would
<v Speaker 3>insinuate that this is something they're very confident in it
<v Speaker 3>has gone through the internal stages that you where things
<v Speaker 3>would normally fall off, and that eventually this is something
<v Speaker 3>they're gonna want to bring to more market. The second
<v Speaker 3>thing is will this be a new IP or are
<v Speaker 3>they going to adapt this core idea into one of
<v Speaker 3>their existing IP and if so, which one fits the
<v Speaker 3>best of what we see here? And I don't. I'm
<v Speaker 3>reading these details and potentially looking at some leaks. I
<v Speaker 3>will confirm Nord and I whether I've done that. I
<v Speaker 3>can't place a franchise now, they cannot place which franchise
<v Speaker 3>of theirs it would be. I mean, yeah, yeah. When
<v Speaker 3>you're thinking of like a world and rebuilding a world
<v Speaker 3>with these little blocks the nature an environment specifically, the
<v Speaker 3>only one I could think of is Pickmen, which people,
<v Speaker 3>which Sean just mentioned in the chat there. But other
<v Speaker 3>than that, like are we getting this like a are
<v Speaker 3>we building the star tropics? What's there? I don't understand.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I could easily see them adapting. Jam points out
<v Speaker 1>mes like this could be me Topia Online or something
<v Speaker 1>like that. I don't. I don't, Okay, chances are it's
<v Speaker 1>probably going to be a new IPU to world. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that would be fantastic amazing people did. People have been mentioning, uh,
<v Speaker 1>the artwork they've seen from the game for the characters
<v Speaker 1>themselves look and some people's estimation is pretty bad. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>that is placeholder, maybe that's the reason it looks that way,
<v Speaker 1>or maybe it's just bad. The Verge added though, that
<v Speaker 1>there's also an aspect of user generated content features in
<v Speaker 1>the game, although Nintendo apparently will not let people share
<v Speaker 1>these with others unless they pass a test to quote
<v Speaker 1>show that you understand the importance of respectful communication. So
<v Speaker 1>h so, I fully expect this to be the most
<v Speaker 1>violent toxic place on.
<v Speaker 2>The Internet in a matter of minutes. Just give it
<v Speaker 2>a second.
<v Speaker 3>It's gonna be me versed dick drawlings all over again.
<v Speaker 3>They're gonna figure out a way they're going to draw them. Yes,
<v Speaker 3>artists are going to.
<v Speaker 1>Do our dick detection to technology at Nintendo has never
<v Speaker 1>been more allowed break Yes, and it needs to be
<v Speaker 1>absolutely yeah. I mean, I am still fascinated by this.
<v Speaker 1>It's not, you know, GameCube games of Nintendo Switch Online
<v Speaker 1>a big surprise, but you know, I thought it would
<v Speaker 1>be much more.
<v Speaker 2>Of a wet fart than than this is.
<v Speaker 1>Like what it's like you just fizzles out and it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>well I'm yeah, I got a code and I never
<v Speaker 1>even tried it out because I wasn't interested. I am
<v Speaker 1>definitely gonna go check this out and see it for
<v Speaker 1>myself now.
<v Speaker 2>So that that's something. And then, uh, you know, part
<v Speaker 2>of it is I.
<v Speaker 1>Want to see what an online Nintendo game looks like
<v Speaker 1>that's supposed to be like that you know, has a
<v Speaker 1>ten thousand person server, Like what, first of all, does
<v Speaker 1>it even function? And second like what are the communication tools?
<v Speaker 1>What are how am I able to interact with other people?
<v Speaker 1>Is it just you know, choosing chat options from a
<v Speaker 1>radial menu?
<v Speaker 2>I is there a voice chat? Like? I wonder what
<v Speaker 2>all that looks like?
<v Speaker 1>And you know, even if it is not voice chat,
<v Speaker 1>I still think Nintendo could do some fun stuff with communication.
<v Speaker 2>And you know, how persistent is this world?
<v Speaker 1>All these questions around like why is anyone like when
<v Speaker 1>you start this, why are you going to continue caring?
<v Speaker 1>I'm interested to see how Nintendo themselves answered answer that question,
<v Speaker 1>those problems, those game design issues, and I think there
<v Speaker 1>could be they could have some fun answers because they're Nintendo.
<v Speaker 3>And I think that because they're Nintendo is also what
<v Speaker 3>makes this so shocking, Like you're hearing a brand new
<v Speaker 3>MMO in development. You're hearing things like ten thousand people
<v Speaker 3>servers and UGC and all this, and it's not stuff
<v Speaker 3>that you would associate with Nintendo. Perhaps just the fact
<v Speaker 3>that they're open to something like this is worthy of
<v Speaker 3>attention or scrutiny from the people who are playing the game.
<v Speaker 3>And with a game like this, I guess it is
<v Speaker 3>the kind of game that you have to have outside
<v Speaker 3>not critique, outside critique or outside counseling, because the developers
<v Speaker 3>of the game are going to be, you know, slightly biased.
<v Speaker 3>They want their game to be good, so they're gonna
<v Speaker 3>say these things are good and they're not, and that
<v Speaker 3>they never made an MMO before they don't know, so
<v Speaker 3>they got to bring in people to test it. Everything
<v Speaker 3>about this just seems so wacky, like a like a
<v Speaker 3>honestly like an AI generated news story. It really does
<v Speaker 3>feel like like even with Nintendo making an MMO feeling
<v Speaker 3>so wrong, especially when we've been asking for a Pokemon
<v Speaker 3>MMO for how long and then we're finally getting some
<v Speaker 3>sort of MMO and they've they've aped Minecraft instead. I would, oh,
<v Speaker 3>man to be a fly on that wall and just
<v Speaker 3>see what what the like? Have they consulted with Xbox
<v Speaker 3>there is a relationship there after Super Smash Brothers has that.
<v Speaker 3>Have they asked about this sort of thing. It's just
<v Speaker 3>Super Mario, MMO, RPG, whoever, Squidgrass and chat I love you.
<v Speaker 3>That's fantastic. Yeah, but no, this is cool. I'm uh
<v Speaker 3>the fact that they're even trying something new like this
<v Speaker 3>that isn't you know, waking me up in the morning
<v Speaker 3>or detecting my sleep at night, it's pretty cool.
<v Speaker 2>Yep.
<v Speaker 1>So, yeah, I did see on the alarmo this morning
<v Speaker 1>or maybe it was last night before falling asleep.
<v Speaker 2>Uh, it had the graph of sleep data.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, oh yeah, okay, so they are keeping track
<v Speaker 1>of that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>Oh no, yep, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Hey, I'm like I said, I will try this out.
<v Speaker 1>You can download this app now, but it's not live.
<v Speaker 1>No one's actually played this yet, like we shoot played it.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe there's more like like when you download it. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>that's where people are seeing the character designs and stuff
<v Speaker 1>like that. Maybe in context the characters look better.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>That's not going to start in earnest until Wednesday, I
<v Speaker 1>believe so by then expect even more weeks and information
<v Speaker 1>and data at that point and then.
<v Speaker 3>And please please leak away because I didn't. I wasn't
<v Speaker 3>fast enough.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, yeah, watch Sam and Nisa chat said they
<v Speaker 1>got a code as well.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe we could do a community stream.
<v Speaker 1>Well we'll see, because uh, Nintendo like requested people not
<v Speaker 1>share the information. And while you know, I don't work
<v Speaker 1>for these companies, I'm not gonna purposely poke them in
<v Speaker 1>the eye either when I can avoid it. So if
<v Speaker 1>they if people start streaming and Nintendo seems cool with it,
<v Speaker 1>we will follow that lead.
<v Speaker 2>But I'm not going to be breaking.
<v Speaker 1>The seal on that.
<v Speaker 2>So we'll see our shows. All right.
<v Speaker 1>Let's move along here. Spider Man two heads to PC.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Insomnia Games on Twitter just announced that
<v Speaker 1>Marvel's New York Comic Con panel, Marvel's Spider Man two
<v Speaker 1>is coming to PC on January thirtieth, twenty twenty five.
<v Speaker 1>Wish list now on Steam and the Epic Game Store. Yeah, hey,
<v Speaker 1>that's that's fantastic. Part of me is like, oh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's that wasn't on PC. I played the hell out
<v Speaker 1>of Spider Man two. I really like these games. I
<v Speaker 1>think I like the Spider Man games more than most people. Actually,
<v Speaker 1>I could kind of go back to it at any
<v Speaker 1>moment and play the whole thing from scratch and I
<v Speaker 1>would had zero complaints. Really really, they fit with my
<v Speaker 1>vibe so here in this moment, Okay, yeah, I'll play
<v Speaker 1>that again.
<v Speaker 2>I'll get it on.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe iouk at the ultra wide screen out and set
<v Speaker 1>that up just for that game. I'm going to look
<v Speaker 1>real nice on there.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, excited.
<v Speaker 1>We'll get improved ray tracing and stuff, probably better visuals
<v Speaker 1>than you can get on the PS five pro. I
<v Speaker 1>would love to take the game for a walk that way.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, I'm excited about this, how about you?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it seems like it's it's only natural to have
<v Speaker 3>the third of the Spider Man games with Spider Man
<v Speaker 3>and Miles Morales behind it on PC. Just a no brainer,
<v Speaker 3>was a matter of time. Ultra Wide does seem like
<v Speaker 3>the way to go. I don't have the ability to
<v Speaker 3>do that, so that sounds like it's pretty pretty cool.
<v Speaker 3>I'm curious now, though, since the series is sort of
<v Speaker 3>caught up, if whatever future project, whether it's Wolverine or
<v Speaker 3>the next Spider Man's Spider Man three, whatever, they're really
<v Speaker 3>digging in on if it's something that they may try
<v Speaker 3>to consider releasing at the same time simultaneously.
<v Speaker 2>What do you mean, like, are you on PC?
<v Speaker 3>PS five and PC?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's the question, right, because so that the game
<v Speaker 1>came out in October of twenty twenty three, and so
<v Speaker 1>that's like a little just a little bit over a
<v Speaker 1>year now between coming on in PS five and make
<v Speaker 1>the leap to PC.
<v Speaker 2>And there was a time where.
<v Speaker 1>It's like everyone's like, well, that's gonna be three Years's
<v Speaker 1>always gonna be three years, It'll be on PS four.
<v Speaker 1>Then three years later it comes to PC. Maybe it
<v Speaker 1>was two years, but either way, the window is shrinking.
<v Speaker 1>It's getting much smaller. This is much quicker and for
<v Speaker 1>like one of their biggest games, the one that sells
<v Speaker 1>the most. Now, maybe that makes it easier because everyone
<v Speaker 1>who wants this game rushed out and got it. Also,
<v Speaker 1>it does have a licenser in Disney Slash Marvel, who
<v Speaker 1>might be like, can we please go make more money
<v Speaker 1>from this thing that we licensed to you That we're
<v Speaker 1>not interested in your exclusives has nothing to do with us.
<v Speaker 1>We want to make the money from this game. Go
<v Speaker 1>sell it on PC. Now, maybe that's happening. I don't
<v Speaker 1>necessarily know that. We know that happened with MLB, but
<v Speaker 1>we don't know that's happening here either way, though, window
<v Speaker 1>is shrinking, So does it keep shrinking? Do you think
<v Speaker 1>it ever goes below a year? Like six months later
<v Speaker 1>a big PlayStation five exclusive.
<v Speaker 2>Game is on PC within six months.
<v Speaker 3>It would need to be something like a Spider Man
<v Speaker 3>or a license game. I think. I think if Sony
<v Speaker 3>can help it, they're going to want to have that
<v Speaker 3>at console exclusivity for as long as they can, whether
<v Speaker 3>the window can be shortened or not. It might be
<v Speaker 3>one of those things where they get the port dona
<v Speaker 3>then just sit on it until they're ready to actually
<v Speaker 3>put it out, you know what I mean. But no, Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I think the technology is slowly getting there where they
<v Speaker 3>can shrink the time. But it's just a matter, Like
<v Speaker 3>I said, I if PlayStation actually wants to do it,
<v Speaker 3>if there would ever be one, it would be the
<v Speaker 3>next Spider Man or Venom or Wolverine or you know.
<v Speaker 3>Now that I think about it, I don't really have
<v Speaker 3>much else first party licensed.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Astrobot like do we go like that seems like
<v Speaker 1>a specific case because I don't know. Astrobyte is a
<v Speaker 1>platformer and the audience for that is much smaller than
<v Speaker 1>a Spider Man. So like, if that came out to
<v Speaker 1>PC a year later, first of all, it might be
<v Speaker 1>a little weird because the game is such a PS
<v Speaker 1>five game takes advantage of the dual sense, but dual
<v Speaker 1>sense is work on PC. So a year later I
<v Speaker 1>could see Astrobot coming to PC something like that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean that, And that makes sense too because
<v Speaker 3>the speed running community would eat that up right, and
<v Speaker 3>it's the kind of game that will be perfect on PC.
<v Speaker 3>Just to find I would love to see like a
<v Speaker 3>tool assisted speed run of Astrobot.
<v Speaker 1>That'd be amazing.
<v Speaker 3>That'd be amazing, just if for you would be taking notes,
<v Speaker 3>but for me it'd be like popcorn. Just watch watch
<v Speaker 3>the bot run through all those stages. But yeah, I
<v Speaker 3>think I think Astrobot makes sense. Is there any are
<v Speaker 3>there any games first party releases? And maybe this is
<v Speaker 3>an indictment on how little first party releases they're actually
<v Speaker 3>releasing that aren't there beside Spider Man two at this moment.
<v Speaker 1>Like, God, yeah, when you say that, I guess Forbidden
<v Speaker 1>West is there, right, Yeah, Demon Souls. I suppose it's
<v Speaker 1>the last is the one that we have not seen.
<v Speaker 1>Now there could be reasons for that, that one just
<v Speaker 1>wasn't prioritized. Sure, but yeah, Demon Souls should go on PC.
<v Speaker 1>It would do really, really well.
<v Speaker 2>It's concord I was not that. Let me check my
<v Speaker 2>one not anymore.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, ye launched on PC. So yeah, yeah, it's the
<v Speaker 1>whole strategy with Sony and PC is fascinating to me.
<v Speaker 1>Like the logic would say, eventually you put them on
<v Speaker 1>both to make as much money as possible. Oh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>but they seem to be very still so stubborn or
<v Speaker 1>headstrong about console exclusivity even when their biggest competitor is
<v Speaker 1>of course, they're still doing you know, timed releases to
<v Speaker 1>Indiana Jones is not launching on PlayStation day and date.
<v Speaker 1>That's not coming out until the spring, as they announced
<v Speaker 1>that games come, but they're still announcing it immediately like
<v Speaker 1>they're getting ahead of it. They're not waiting until like
<v Speaker 1>they I mean, granted they might not have known because
<v Speaker 1>that window might they don't know how long the window
<v Speaker 1>was going to be, but Xbox was able to announce
<v Speaker 1>it's coming to PlayStation this date. We're not forgetting about
<v Speaker 1>you don't worry about it. I don't know the PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>would ever do that. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
<v Speaker 3>I don't think they'd had I don't think it's in
<v Speaker 3>their way of business that they would announce something for
<v Speaker 3>PC the same day they announced their release date, or
<v Speaker 3>even if it was like six months later. They would
<v Speaker 3>never announce those days the same time. I think you're right.
<v Speaker 1>I think they're you know, they're in a situation where
<v Speaker 1>they feel the need to put these things on PC
<v Speaker 1>to make more money, but they also feel like walking
<v Speaker 1>this fine line between doing that and keeping making PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>five feel like a special place where you can only
<v Speaker 1>get certain experiences or you can get certain experiences that
<v Speaker 1>are available anywhere else, And so they have to kind
<v Speaker 1>of be, you know, a little bit coy sometimes and
<v Speaker 1>act a little stupid like, I don't know, what are
<v Speaker 1>you talking about PC? Now they don't. They'll admit like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>all games are going to come to PC. When when
<v Speaker 1>that happens is different in every case. But I do
<v Speaker 1>think that we go forward and the window shrinks more
<v Speaker 1>and more, and we are going to be in a
<v Speaker 1>world probably where some of the biggest games hit PC
<v Speaker 1>six months later. Does it ever get smaller than that?
<v Speaker 1>Does it ever go day and date? You're right, there
<v Speaker 1>might be a case here or there, and that might
<v Speaker 1>be from due to outside pressure or whatever. But I
<v Speaker 1>think for the most part we get through this this
<v Speaker 1>generation and outside of the live service games, which is
<v Speaker 1>a whole other thing. Obviously, Concord did come day and
<v Speaker 1>date to PC for a traditional single player Sony game.
<v Speaker 1>What you imagine when we say Sony Interactive Entertainments, you know,
<v Speaker 1>the worldwide studios, those games at the window probably never
<v Speaker 1>gets below six months at least not until like we're
<v Speaker 1>in a very different world. As for as far as
<v Speaker 1>Spider Man two, though no more story content is planned
<v Speaker 1>for Spider Man two, so there typicitely was I think
<v Speaker 1>some side stories that had not unsatisfactor conclusions. They just
<v Speaker 1>didn't have conclusions, and the suggestion always seemed to be
<v Speaker 1>like that stuff will get followed up, maybe in DLC
<v Speaker 1>or maybe in an expand alone, the way that like
<v Speaker 1>Miles Morells was an expand alone to Spider Man one.
<v Speaker 1>And now we have we've seen the leaks, we know
<v Speaker 1>that Venom was something that they are working on and
<v Speaker 1>that was going to be sort of the expand alone
<v Speaker 1>equivalent to Spider Man two. Now that could have moved around.
<v Speaker 1>Wolverine could now come out before Venom. It seems like
<v Speaker 1>there's a lot of moving parts there. But Venom seems
<v Speaker 1>like it might still be coming maybe, and they could
<v Speaker 1>put a lot of this story content that was intended
<v Speaker 1>for maybe once intended as DLC for Spider Man two.
<v Speaker 2>Just put that right in Venom.
<v Speaker 1>And now you've got an even bigger, more robust game
<v Speaker 1>that you can easily justify selling for.
<v Speaker 2>Seventy dollars, which I'm pretty sure is their goal here.
<v Speaker 3>You looking forward to something like that, Yeah, I think
<v Speaker 3>it's the right way to go if and Miles Morales
<v Speaker 3>is proof of that, they could maybe sell it for
<v Speaker 3>a little bit less. I don't know that they would
<v Speaker 3>go well seventy if it's an expand alone, but then again,
<v Speaker 3>you know, they do like making money, so maybe they would.
<v Speaker 3>It strikes me it's interesting that you would say that
<v Speaker 3>Wolverine would come out first. I would think that with
<v Speaker 3>Venom movie coming out in November, right, Yeah, A Venom confirmations,
<v Speaker 3>slash announcement, slash, what have you seems like a perfect
<v Speaker 3>now for Game Awards.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think so too, but I mean just months
<v Speaker 1>after leaks. It's like it's hard to parse that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, So I don't know what their internal timetable is
<v Speaker 3>even with those leaks, right, So it wouldn't surprise me
<v Speaker 3>if they can't, if they announced it at Game Awards
<v Speaker 3>for some time in twenty twenty five, or if they
<v Speaker 3>wait a little further down the pike and announce it later.
<v Speaker 3>But I do think a Venom standalone expand alone, as
<v Speaker 3>you said, might come first. I feel like Wolverine they're
<v Speaker 3>trying to make as big as Spider Man two, So
<v Speaker 3>you might not see that still for like a couple
<v Speaker 3>of years, maybe twenty five, late twenty five or early
<v Speaker 3>twenty six. Yeah, and that's a that's a big maybe.
<v Speaker 3>So we'll see It's it's a fascinating thing, especially with
<v Speaker 3>all those leaks and all that information out, how much
<v Speaker 3>we still don't know when it comes to like scheduling
<v Speaker 3>and timing and stuff like that. Yep. But yeah, standalone
<v Speaker 3>Venum makes more sense to me than DLSA. Yep.
<v Speaker 1>I agree either way. I'm looking forward to more, and
<v Speaker 1>Somnik really questioning it. Kind of very excited to see
<v Speaker 1>how the Wolverine finally turns out as well. Especially all right,
<v Speaker 1>let's take a quick break when we come back, let's
<v Speaker 1>talk about some switch switch to news.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, we'll get to it right after this.
<v Speaker 2>All right, we're back, and Jason.
<v Speaker 1>Finelli, did you know that it's been eight years since
<v Speaker 1>Nindo Nintendo unveiled the Switch.
<v Speaker 2>And the world still awaits to switch too?
<v Speaker 1>Here, according to Gavin Land for Nintendo.
<v Speaker 2>Life, Yeah, eight years, huh since that first trailer.
<v Speaker 3>I remember that it just came out out of nowhere
<v Speaker 3>on a random, like weekday morning. I was still going
<v Speaker 3>into an office then it. I just I remember watching
<v Speaker 3>it like five or six times, like what is going
<v Speaker 3>on here? And then a couple months later I previewed
<v Speaker 3>it in New York City and played like once you
<v Speaker 3>Switch and Zelda and stuff like that, and they had
<v Speaker 3>that big stage show right before that, and then it
<v Speaker 3>came out in March. I cannot believe it was so
<v Speaker 3>long ago go and that we've gone so long only
<v Speaker 3>hearing rumors and no confirmation of the success. It's wild.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, it's been a long time. And yeah, I mean
<v Speaker 1>I'm right there with you, Like remember in that trailer.
<v Speaker 1>It was like so exciting, and I think this generation
<v Speaker 1>for Nintendo has felt both very long and also kind
<v Speaker 1>of like it flew by. And I think part of
<v Speaker 1>that is the switch has been so relevant this entire time.
<v Speaker 1>There are always very important and amazing games coming out
<v Speaker 1>just about every year for the system, and then of
<v Speaker 1>course there's a ton of sport.
<v Speaker 2>There's a ton of software coming out all the time.
<v Speaker 1>But there's a lot been a lot of very important
<v Speaker 1>games last year, Tiers of the Kingdom the biggest of them.
<v Speaker 1>That has kept it front of mind where it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>of course the Switch is the thing everyone should be
<v Speaker 1>talking about because yeah, it's got this game. But it's
<v Speaker 1>also like felt I think a little bit longer because
<v Speaker 1>it's just been the switch and well, we have the switch,
<v Speaker 1>oh led we never got that Switch pro model that
<v Speaker 1>they definitely were working on. They always have, you know,
<v Speaker 1>mid gen refreshes of that kind for a very long time,
<v Speaker 1>especially for their portable systems, which of.
<v Speaker 2>This is equally a success or two.
<v Speaker 1>So it's been like, Okay, that never happens, so she'll
<v Speaker 1>we expect to switch to faster, And I think what
<v Speaker 1>happened was it's like, No, the switch to is still
<v Speaker 1>going to come out as if a Switch Pro model
<v Speaker 1>came out, and they're just gonna keep selling us the
<v Speaker 1>switch because it keeps doing fine. So that eight years yeah,
<v Speaker 1>like I said, felt very long in some ways and
<v Speaker 1>flown by in others, but that has led people to
<v Speaker 1>be where they are right now, which is every little
<v Speaker 1>crumb they can get about the switch to is setting
<v Speaker 1>them off, which takes us to our next story, where
<v Speaker 1>I wrote down the headline Nintendo fans are down bad
<v Speaker 1>and are now drawing pictures of the switch tos from
<v Speaker 1>Lewis Parker at Gaming Bible. Seems we're getting switched a
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo switch To related leaks every twenty four hours at
<v Speaker 1>this point, because someone has just revealed our first look
<v Speaker 1>at the console's design, although first look might not be
<v Speaker 1>the best way to describe it. This leak comes courtesy
<v Speaker 1>of a post from the Family Boards and a user
<v Speaker 1>over there who goes by the name of nin Spider,
<v Speaker 1>who shared an artistic recreation of what the Nintendo Switch
<v Speaker 1>to will supposedly look like. Now, I know that's not
<v Speaker 1>the most professional looking leak. In fact, let me let
<v Speaker 1>me bring it up here for everybody it is. It's
<v Speaker 1>a sketch, and a sketch might even be a bit
<v Speaker 1>a bit much of a description here. It is just
<v Speaker 1>like someone scribbling on some paper. But it does reveal
<v Speaker 1>maybe a little bit for one and video listeners can
<v Speaker 1>see this. Now, we'll maybe we'll try to include a
<v Speaker 1>link for audio listeners, but I'll do my best to
<v Speaker 1>describe it. There is a switch system without the joy
<v Speaker 1>cons attached, and it is has a kickstand and it's
<v Speaker 1>like the kickstands not the solid block like it is
<v Speaker 1>on the switch.
<v Speaker 2>O lad it is.
<v Speaker 1>It's got kind of a cutout design now, but basically
<v Speaker 1>it looks like the switch tablet, Like, that's what that
<v Speaker 1>looks like. And then the bay stand is yes, this
<v Speaker 1>is not it is. Some of the people in ched
<v Speaker 1>a laughing at.
<v Speaker 3>This because it's it's I'm sketched.
<v Speaker 1>It looks like a police crime sketch. Yes, So the
<v Speaker 1>base station, this is the thing that might be a
<v Speaker 1>little bit interesting because we can actually glean something here.
<v Speaker 1>I suppose it's got sort of a half pyramid design
<v Speaker 1>where it's it slants back, so it's kind of it's
<v Speaker 1>like a triangle, so it has a little bit more
<v Speaker 1>of a wide base, so it might not fall over
<v Speaker 1>when you go to doc your switch. But otherwise we
<v Speaker 1>can't really get anything out of this now. It's it's
<v Speaker 1>worth pointing out that Nathan Hate, who's a pretty good
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo insider, knows what he's talking about, doesn't talk about
<v Speaker 1>stuff unless he's sure said that. You know, he said
<v Speaker 1>he had a similar design shared with him back in September.
<v Speaker 1>He has not been able to confirm that, but at
<v Speaker 1>the very least he's seen something that echoes this.
<v Speaker 2>So this is going around.
<v Speaker 1>He's like, he doesn't know if it's if this has
<v Speaker 1>been shared on Chinese message boards or something like that,
<v Speaker 1>but he has at the very least seen something similar.
<v Speaker 2>I wouldn't be surprised by that.
<v Speaker 1>The point here, though, is everything like this is setting
<v Speaker 1>up Nintendo fans to the point where this was a
<v Speaker 1>pretty big news story in the in the Nintendo community
<v Speaker 1>over the weekend. This drawing on the back of a napkin.
<v Speaker 3>That's basically what it is. Yeah, it looks like it
<v Speaker 3>was found on a flash drive in a medieval time somewhere.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'm getting like whale vibes from this dock. It
<v Speaker 3>looks like a whale's mouth. Sure, yes, yeah, it's weird.
<v Speaker 3>It's like that what has happened to us, Jeff, that
<v Speaker 3>we're Nintendo. This is what you've done. This is what
<v Speaker 3>you've reduced us to. We're reporting on children's drawings, or
<v Speaker 3>at least drawings that resemble children's drallings. My kids would
<v Speaker 3>draw if I told them to draw the actual switch,
<v Speaker 3>this is what I would get. But but I mean cool,
<v Speaker 3>like yeah, like cool? If that's it, great, let's see
<v Speaker 3>the real one. What are we waiting for? Uh? Part
<v Speaker 3>of me? That the thing we just talked about previously,
<v Speaker 3>it's been eight years since the original announcement of the switch,
<v Speaker 3>and that people like to or the Nintendo seems to
<v Speaker 3>like to follow the same schedule. Maybe this week they'll
<v Speaker 3>finally show us something. Yeah, I don't know, but this
<v Speaker 3>is reaching Kajmus speculation levels. That's correct. We're in like
<v Speaker 3>five nights at Freddy's arg nonsense levels of Switch to news. Here,
<v Speaker 3>Jeff's face says it all. I don't know if you
<v Speaker 3>could see it. He's like, this guy is losing his mind.
<v Speaker 3>Get him off my show. This is terrible, Like, what
<v Speaker 3>are we doing here? Show us the damn godsole, what
<v Speaker 3>are we waiting for.
<v Speaker 1>They need to just come out and do something now.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, and I think you know, there was the
<v Speaker 1>rumors last month. It's like it can happen any week,
<v Speaker 1>and of course no one knew for sure, and every
<v Speaker 1>even even the people who are like, hey, there's talk
<v Speaker 1>among some journalists that it could happen this this month
<v Speaker 1>or this week, but we don't know, and like this,
<v Speaker 1>take it all with the grain of stew Every time
<v Speaker 1>they would come, everyone's like, we don't really know. Of
<v Speaker 1>course it didn't happen. There were rumors earlier this month
<v Speaker 1>that it was going to get announced. They're like, Nintendo's
<v Speaker 1>got something, and then later that week Alarmo got revealed. So, uh,
<v Speaker 1>it's it's been wild out there. There is still no
<v Speaker 1>guarantee this thing even gets announced this year. It could
<v Speaker 1>happen in the first three months of next year. Nintendo
<v Speaker 1>syst they'll do it before the end of the fiscal
<v Speaker 1>which is March thirty first, so we might be waiting
<v Speaker 1>a lot longer before we actually get the first glimpse
<v Speaker 1>of this thing. But I think going back to the
<v Speaker 1>hope that hey, the way they did it last time
<v Speaker 1>was we got a trailer before the holidays, before the
<v Speaker 1>the you know, the before the March where the Switch
<v Speaker 1>actually came out. Maybe they replicate it this time, but
<v Speaker 1>there's no reason to assume just because they did it before,
<v Speaker 1>they'll do it again, other than maybe just we hope.
<v Speaker 3>Uh. The only only thing I can think of as
<v Speaker 3>to why they wouldn't do it this way this time
<v Speaker 3>is that there's a difference between the WEU which was
<v Speaker 3>out at the time, and Switch and then Switch and
<v Speaker 3>Switch to yes, right, and difference and the latter could
<v Speaker 3>affect holiday sales of Switch one. Yeah, whereas we you
<v Speaker 3>nobody was buying it anyways, didn't really matter. But uh,
<v Speaker 3>I can kind of see the strategy in that, I agree,
<v Speaker 3>doesn't make it any less frustrating. Yes, they will say
<v Speaker 3>that unless unless we mentioned the game awards are unless
<v Speaker 3>Keeley's hoarding it. You think Kelly's hoarding this announcement. He
<v Speaker 3>called in Reggie and he's like, hey, talk to your
<v Speaker 3>boys over there. I want that he revealed the series
<v Speaker 3>X if you recall you're back in twenty eighteen whatever
<v Speaker 3>that was. Maybe he's got this in his back pocket too,
<v Speaker 3>that that he's hoarding. Stop hoarding it. No, I don't
<v Speaker 3>know that for sure, but yeah.
<v Speaker 2>It's not impossible.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, like right, yeah, Jamie h Christmas even chatpoints
<v Speaker 1>out that it's uh Brothership is still coming, uh and
<v Speaker 1>maybe they want to.
<v Speaker 2>Go to Brothership. Oh my god, so like that's a
<v Speaker 2>big game still for them.
<v Speaker 3>I was I was having a conversation with my my
<v Speaker 3>friend's chat this morning about all the games that have
<v Speaker 3>come out already, Like what the game of the year,
<v Speaker 3>somebody said, and I named like six games that were
<v Speaker 3>still too come and that wasn't one of them. Yeah, god,
<v Speaker 3>this game was this year was sneaky good for games.
<v Speaker 2>Really really good. Yep.
<v Speaker 1>Anyway, I think someone like saw that sketch design and
<v Speaker 1>new people weren't going to take it seriously, so they
<v Speaker 1>went and like to AutoCAD or something and data cool
<v Speaker 1>a better render of it here that it's okay, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it's the same thing. It just looks slightly more professional
<v Speaker 1>and you might be able to get a better view
<v Speaker 1>of the slanted design of the doc.
<v Speaker 2>And I gotta some I liked I like this doc.
<v Speaker 1>If this is what the doc is going to be, like,
<v Speaker 1>I appreciate the fact that they thought a little bit
<v Speaker 1>more about it making it sturdier, not that it ever
<v Speaker 1>made that much of a difference, but I like this. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to date myself here. If you if you
<v Speaker 1>understand this reference in chat, I appreciate you. But if
<v Speaker 1>you take that, if you take that doc and turn
<v Speaker 1>it ninety degrees sideways, it's Home Star Runner.
<v Speaker 2>See I never watched Home Star Runner. It'd be keeps
<v Speaker 2>coming up now And of course.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah I should go, I should start well now, I
<v Speaker 1>should be very much you, very very much.
<v Speaker 3>You had to be there now.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm gonna watch it now. I'm gonna ruin everything.
<v Speaker 3>For age as well. But it was funny back then.
<v Speaker 3>I still laugh now. But that is Homestar Runner, the switchdoc,
<v Speaker 3>and I can't get it out of my head.
<v Speaker 2>All right, so let's keep going here.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, Nintendo, just as soon as we're done with the show,
<v Speaker 1>I know you want to do this, then reveal reveal
<v Speaker 1>it right then, so you could just frustrate me. I
<v Speaker 1>know that's your main goal in life, and then we'll
<v Speaker 1>talk about on the BombCast tomorrow. Deal.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, perfect, all right? Perfect.
<v Speaker 1>Apparently Samoa Nice mentioned that they the first reveal came
<v Speaker 1>out on a Thursday, so and that's that's way they
<v Speaker 1>want to do it right, because that would be Friday
<v Speaker 1>in Japan Thursday here they can, yeah, make it all
<v Speaker 1>work whatever, all right, Nintendo Real Quick Nintendo Switch sold
<v Speaker 1>like thirty two million units in Japan. It's the best
<v Speaker 1>selling console ever in that country. There's only like one
<v Speaker 1>hundred and thirty million people in Japan. That is aw bananas,
<v Speaker 1>that's pretty good. This I love this good headline from
<v Speaker 1>Jordan here over at VGC, Jordan Midler. Bloober Team claims
<v Speaker 1>it's finished making quote shitty games. Bluebird Team has said
<v Speaker 1>it's aware of the mixed reputation of some of its
<v Speaker 1>previous titles and that the company is done making shitty games.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking to GameSpot in the wake of its newly announced
<v Speaker 1>horror title Kronos the New Dawn, the team behind the
<v Speaker 1>recently released Silent Hill two remakes said it's looking down.
<v Speaker 1>It's looking to shake its previous reputation and emulate the
<v Speaker 1>critical and commercial success of Silent Hill too. We want
<v Speaker 1>to find our niche, and we think we found our niche,
<v Speaker 1>so now let we just let's evolve with it, send
<v Speaker 1>co director je Chick Seba Ciba and how that happens
<v Speaker 1>to and how that happens is more complex, but it
<v Speaker 1>also happens organically in a way like with twenty sixteens
<v Speaker 1>layers of fear. People in the studio are like, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>we made some shitty games before, but we can evolve.
<v Speaker 1>We gathered a team that loves horror, so I think
<v Speaker 1>for us it would not be easy to switch to
<v Speaker 1>other genres and we don't want to.
<v Speaker 3>Go on.
<v Speaker 1>But basically they're I think what they're trying to say is,
<v Speaker 1>we had these previous experiences where we produce games that
<v Speaker 1>some people consider shitty, and we have learned from that.
<v Speaker 1>And the recent Sound Hill too is good is in
<v Speaker 1>part is that we applied what we learned, and I'm
<v Speaker 1>willing to believe them for now.
<v Speaker 2>How about you?
<v Speaker 3>What if their niche is remakes and remakes also that's
<v Speaker 3>a problem. Yeah, but good for you. You figured it out.
<v Speaker 3>You don't want to make shitty games anymore. Nobody wants
<v Speaker 3>to make shitty games. They came out with the medium right,
<v Speaker 3>should have been called mid, not medium. But but I mean,
<v Speaker 3>good for them if they think they figured it out
<v Speaker 3>and they're confident and they have a way forward. Good
<v Speaker 3>I hope it works out for them and they become
<v Speaker 3>a huge developer and do what everything they want to
<v Speaker 3>do and all their dreams come true, because that just
<v Speaker 3>means the people who like their games are getting more
<v Speaker 3>good stuff to play. And I don't have a problem
<v Speaker 3>with that. That's how it should be. If it doesn't
<v Speaker 3>work out, this fella here is going to have to
<v Speaker 3>be a lot of crow. Yeah, and it's not going
<v Speaker 3>to taste very good. He kind of put himself out
<v Speaker 3>there a little bit. But I also kind of appreciate that.
<v Speaker 3>I appreciate a guy who's want to come out and say, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>we're ready, this was good, this is all that we
<v Speaker 3>figured it out, This helped us. Let's see what this
<v Speaker 3>twenty twenty five game can do good for them. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I have, I'm I'm I'm hopeful for them. I hope
<v Speaker 3>they can do it. I really do. Also shouted Jordan Midler,
<v Speaker 3>that is a fantastic headline. Just want to put that
<v Speaker 3>out there too, as you said, But no, yeah, I mean,
<v Speaker 3>I hope they don't make shitty games anymore. That's the dream,
<v Speaker 3>that's how it should be, and that's how we should
<v Speaker 3>all aspire to not make shitty things.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I am. I'm hopeful. I think that
<v Speaker 2>making games is hard.
<v Speaker 1>I think that they have had the chance to sort
<v Speaker 1>of grow through that process, and now they've built up
<v Speaker 1>a certain amount of institutional knowledge that will serve them
<v Speaker 1>going forward. And there is a chance that you know,
<v Speaker 1>the next game, the next original game, Kronos comes out
<v Speaker 1>and it's clearly not as good as Silent Held to remake.
<v Speaker 1>That wouldn't be a surprise either, but I think there's
<v Speaker 1>a strong chance it is significantly better than the medium
<v Speaker 1>and a lot of layers of fear a lot of
<v Speaker 1>their previous games, which you know to Okay, yes.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think that's a victory if they take the
<v Speaker 3>learning from Silent Hill Till and make a game that's
<v Speaker 3>not that's maybe meant not to use Metacritic because it's
<v Speaker 3>a very it's a it's not a good barometer. But
<v Speaker 3>just for this example, if it's an eighty instead of
<v Speaker 3>the mediums like sixty five or seventy, then they're going
<v Speaker 3>the right way.
<v Speaker 2>Right, Yes, exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Everyone kind of does what you mean when you say, like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>in eighty to eighty five, it's like, oh, yeah, that
<v Speaker 1>would be fantastic for them, perfect all right, Vampire Survivors
<v Speaker 1>is getting Castlevania DLC later this month. This is Chris
<v Speaker 1>going at VGC the pack which will be in that's
<v Speaker 1>the Vampire DLCs pack, which will be called Vampire Survivors.
<v Speaker 1>Oh To Castlevania is set to release on Halloween, October
<v Speaker 1>thirty first on PC, Switch, Xbox, PS five, PS four,
<v Speaker 1>and mobile, and it will cost four dollars.
<v Speaker 2>According to developer Ponkel, oh.
<v Speaker 1>To Castlevania will be the biggest Vampire Survivors the DLC
<v Speaker 1>pack yet and will feature an absolutely stupidly gigantic amount
<v Speaker 1>of content.
<v Speaker 2>You wrote about this anything that people should know.
<v Speaker 3>So it will have twenty new characters from across the
<v Speaker 3>entire series. In fact, I will bring up my article
<v Speaker 3>on GameSpot dot com, which you can read along if
<v Speaker 3>you like, and I will tell you exactly what I reported,
<v Speaker 3>just because I don't want to get it wrong based
<v Speaker 3>on what they'd said in their press release. Multiple Belmonts
<v Speaker 3>Simon Richter, Trevor and Sonia, multiple Witches, Sifa and Joco,
<v Speaker 3>bell Nade, Charlotte, Olan, Maria Renard. If I pronounced any
<v Speaker 3>of that wrong, remember how I pronounced Gibbity last time,
<v Speaker 3>and give me a break. Eight different whip weapons specifically whips.
<v Speaker 3>Forty plus new weapons, eight of them new whips. Elemental
<v Speaker 3>spells coming to the game for the first time, inspired
<v Speaker 3>by Portrait of Ruin and Harmony of Dissonance. Magic weapons.
<v Speaker 3>Alo Card's entire outfit sword, spear, and shield were specifically mentioned. Also,
<v Speaker 3>and my favorite part of this, because I'm a music guy,
<v Speaker 3>thirty plus music tracks from caslvania's history mixed in the
<v Speaker 3>Vampire Survivor's style. The official Ponko YouTube channel put out
<v Speaker 3>a sample. It is Vampire Killer and it absolutely hits.
<v Speaker 3>It's awesome. I've listened to it like four times today.
<v Speaker 3>You're listening to it right now, and I will shut
<v Speaker 3>up and let you enjoy it for a couple of seconds.
<v Speaker 2>No good, it's real good.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, know what they're doing. They know what they're doing. Yeah, man, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I'm I'm just right here, right here. Just give it
<v Speaker 3>to me. I just can't wait.
<v Speaker 2>Yep. Very very excited for this.
<v Speaker 1>Like you mentioned before we started, once they did the
<v Speaker 1>Contra delC we should have got maybe put two and
<v Speaker 1>two together that this was going to happen.
<v Speaker 2>Very glad they were able to make this happen?
<v Speaker 3>Do you?
<v Speaker 1>I am still I'm down bad for Castlevania. I am
<v Speaker 1>over here and be like, hey, Konama, you seem back
<v Speaker 1>to me in a way that I considered to be back.
<v Speaker 1>You're making metal gear stuff, You're.
<v Speaker 3>You do.
<v Speaker 1>You have a ton of Silent Hill games. SOUNDHILLD two
<v Speaker 1>just crushed, and I'm very happy with the Dominus collection.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you so much for doing that. I wasn't sure
<v Speaker 2>you would. Thank you. But new Castlevania? Can we get
<v Speaker 2>a new Castlevania? See a Caslvania? The show on Netflix
<v Speaker 2>continues to be a hit for them. Well, I know
<v Speaker 2>there's some questions about the newest season of the newest
<v Speaker 2>show and whether that'll get renewed, but that show's been
<v Speaker 2>very popular.
<v Speaker 1>Those shows have been very popular. Caslvania is still very relevant.
<v Speaker 1>It seems like a lot of people like it. That
<v Speaker 1>would be the next logical thing. And we have heard
<v Speaker 1>rumors in the past that an addition to metal Gear,
<v Speaker 1>in addition to Soundhill, the other thing that they were
<v Speaker 1>really going to be doubling down on was Castlevania. Do
<v Speaker 1>you think that there's still a chance that that's true.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, And I think they're following a similar pathway that
<v Speaker 3>SNK did when they were getting back into full time
<v Speaker 3>development with I guess Fatal Fury specifically, they put Terry
<v Speaker 3>Bogard in a whole bunch of stuff, right, he was
<v Speaker 3>in Super Smash Brothers, He's in Street Fighter six. He
<v Speaker 3>got Fatal Fury twenty twenty five coming out. They slowly
<v Speaker 3>reintroduced their characters and also released games in a certain order.
<v Speaker 3>You get Samurai Showdown first, then King of Fighters, and
<v Speaker 3>then the King of Fighters again. I think I'm missing
<v Speaker 3>one in there, and then finally back to Fatal Fury.
<v Speaker 3>I think Kanami's doing the same thing here. They have
<v Speaker 3>Metal Gear, They're doing that internally. They have Silent Hill,
<v Speaker 3>which they work with another studio on, and they have
<v Speaker 3>seeded Castlevania in multiple places. Dead by Daylight had Castlevania,
<v Speaker 3>Dead Sales had Castlevania. Now this they are seeding Castlevania,
<v Speaker 3>and I think it leads to eventually a brand new
<v Speaker 3>Castlevania game at some point. What that will be and
<v Speaker 3>what format that will take, I don't know, but I do,
<v Speaker 3>and Netflix as well, thank you did mention that too.
<v Speaker 3>And as Zaki Zaki's thataka in the chat reminds me
<v Speaker 3>of the Netflix show as well. That's a big part
<v Speaker 3>of this too, and I think all of that combined
<v Speaker 3>will get to a new Castlevania game. Now, is that
<v Speaker 3>story reboot? Do you just go back to the beginning
<v Speaker 3>and start over again? That seems to be a thing
<v Speaker 3>that's happening. Yeah, I mean did you start over again?
<v Speaker 3>Because like Lords of Shadow? Is that the last Lords
<v Speaker 3>of Shadow? Too? Is that the last original non collection release?
<v Speaker 3>Am I forgetting one?
<v Speaker 2>There's I think there was some stuff after that, like,
<v Speaker 2>but not not anything major, So yeah, pretty much?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, Yeah, so I think I think I think the
<v Speaker 3>clues are there. I think there's a lot of different
<v Speaker 3>smoke signals out there signaling that this series is going
<v Speaker 3>to come back. It's just what former fashion and when
<v Speaker 3>is the big question here.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, I'm I am hopeful for this as well. And
<v Speaker 1>uh yeah, I would love to get to like game
<v Speaker 1>the Game Awards and get hit with the trailer for
<v Speaker 1>this place for it. That'd be great. And really, they
<v Speaker 1>could do a two D metro Vana Casylvania. They could
<v Speaker 1>do a brand new major thirty three D character action game.
<v Speaker 1>They could finally make let's remake the original Castlevania as
<v Speaker 1>a three d souls like yep, that would hit very well,
<v Speaker 1>that would crush.
<v Speaker 3>I think so that would be great.
<v Speaker 2>I'm great, all right.
<v Speaker 1>Last couple of stories here, Valve kind of reiterates it
<v Speaker 1>won't release steam Deck too unless it's a generational leap.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Alex Hopeley at Game Reactor. Following the
<v Speaker 1>release of the Steam Deck, of course, other companies tried
<v Speaker 1>their hand at making a handheld gaming PC. There have
<v Speaker 1>been successes here and there, but Valve's machine remains popular
<v Speaker 1>among gamers willing to take their PC libraries on the go.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking to reviews dot Org, Valve designer Lawrence Yang was
<v Speaker 1>asked about the upcome. Asked about a upcoming steam Deck
<v Speaker 1>two and whether the company will follow the trend of
<v Speaker 1>releasing yearly hardware. With the steam Deck's aforementioned popularity, some
<v Speaker 1>good money could be made from regular releases, but Yang
<v Speaker 1>doesn't see the point. We are not doing a yearly cadence.
<v Speaker 1>He said, We're not going to do a bump every year.
<v Speaker 1>There's no reason to do that, and honestly, from our perspective,
<v Speaker 1>that's kind of not really fair to your customers to
<v Speaker 1>come out with something so soon that's only incrementally better.
<v Speaker 1>So we really do want to wait for a generational
<v Speaker 1>leap and compute without sacrificing battery life before we ship
<v Speaker 1>the real second generation of steam Deck. I think they've
<v Speaker 1>they've said similar stuff before.
<v Speaker 3>They're sticking to this, Uh we're now, we are.
<v Speaker 1>We are several years into the steam Deck at this point,
<v Speaker 1>and they it's still as powerful as it was on
<v Speaker 1>day one. And I think I grow more and more
<v Speaker 1>appreciative of of this this tact because I do like,
<v Speaker 1>I also appreciate the space of here is a a
<v Speaker 1>like a Chinese company that puts out with something new
<v Speaker 1>every couple of months, and I'm always curious and I'm
<v Speaker 1>always paying attention.
<v Speaker 2>To that, and I love that stuff as well.
<v Speaker 1>But as I get older, I have realized that like
<v Speaker 1>choice really is that paradox, And it's not just like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>it's it's so hard to decide. The paradox really is
<v Speaker 1>when you have so many choices, you convince yourself you
<v Speaker 1>are going to be able to find the perfect thing.
<v Speaker 1>So when it's so, when it's just another thing, it's
<v Speaker 1>inherently intrinsically disappointing to you because you had the choice.
<v Speaker 1>How is the how is the perfect thing not out there?
<v Speaker 1>So just kind of like feeling, no, this is the
<v Speaker 1>steam deck, here's what it is.
<v Speaker 2>Deal with it.
<v Speaker 1>On a point, I'm like, oh, it's it is just
<v Speaker 1>the thing, So I'm going to find the things to
<v Speaker 1>like about it. It's it's weird, but I'm like, I've
<v Speaker 1>grown to a point where it's like, I am just
<v Speaker 1>happy with my steam deck. And then of course I
<v Speaker 1>am someone who gets some of these things as well,
<v Speaker 1>so it's very easy for me to say that. At
<v Speaker 1>the same time, I think seeing price decreases and being
<v Speaker 1>able to get a steam deck for you know, three
<v Speaker 1>hundred and fifty dollars sometimes and be like, man, it's
<v Speaker 1>easy to get into. It's kind of what it's getting
<v Speaker 1>close to an impulse purchase for a lot of people,
<v Speaker 1>seeing like the focus on that side of things as
<v Speaker 1>opposed to trying to keep up with the joneses.
<v Speaker 2>I think it is the right move. How about you?
<v Speaker 3>I think I agree. I agree with you one hundred percent.
<v Speaker 3>I think if you start flooding the market with iterations,
<v Speaker 3>people are going to grow tired of it. I think
<v Speaker 3>the fact that you leave them desiring one is good.
<v Speaker 3>I think this is also valub and they don't know
<v Speaker 3>how to count the three and the next one will
<v Speaker 3>be the third iteration of the steam deck, so that
<v Speaker 3>just just fits in with their strategy since two thousand
<v Speaker 3>and four. I also love this pr media trained version
<v Speaker 3>of the phrase no stop asking, yeah, because it's basically
<v Speaker 3>what it's says, no stop asking. We're fine, leave us alone.
<v Speaker 3>We know what we're doing. We'll get it to you
<v Speaker 3>when we get it to you. What's out right now
<v Speaker 3>is where we want to be. It's there's not a
<v Speaker 3>update big enough for us to make the jump. Just
<v Speaker 3>you know, just play what you have. Be happy. We
<v Speaker 3>know this is an Apple has trained us all to
<v Speaker 3>want the next design every single year. Give it to
<v Speaker 3>me right now. But you know it's fine. Just just
<v Speaker 3>enjoy what we've given you. We're good. You would be
<v Speaker 3>mad if we came out with a new one and
<v Speaker 3>it wasn't a huge generation and we're not there yet.
<v Speaker 1>Yep. I think you know I've not paid as much attention,
<v Speaker 1>as as much attention as I once.
<v Speaker 2>Did to CPUs and APUs.
<v Speaker 3>I know.
<v Speaker 1>Ryson had their new generation of desktop chips come out recently,
<v Speaker 1>and a lot of people were disappointed. Although when I
<v Speaker 1>looked into it seemed pretty good to me. Like it's
<v Speaker 1>like these things are upgrade in the ways you want
<v Speaker 1>them to upgrade. But people are very weird about PC
<v Speaker 1>hardware and it's always a weird arms race about going
<v Speaker 1>on YouTube and having these things fight against one another.
<v Speaker 1>But whatever, The next round of mobile chips from AMD
<v Speaker 1>should be coming very soon after this, you know, for
<v Speaker 1>laptops and stuff like that, and that'll be the focus
<v Speaker 1>where at that point Valve and AMD will work again,
<v Speaker 1>probably have I would imagine a next gen leap when
<v Speaker 1>it comes to that. So hey, maybe we get one
<v Speaker 1>late next year. That could happen, and then what would
<v Speaker 1>that put us at Because when did the steam deck
<v Speaker 1>come out twenty twenty two, twenty twenty one.
<v Speaker 3>Late twenty September twenty one, early twenty two or something
<v Speaker 3>like that. Yeah, somewhere in that, just after the pandemic window.
<v Speaker 1>All right, yeah, so we get the twenty twenty five,
<v Speaker 1>late twenty twenty five. Yeah, that seems like the right
<v Speaker 1>cadence for a steam Deck. I don't think it needs
<v Speaker 1>to be five years. It doesn't need to be two years.
<v Speaker 1>Somewhere in between three to four that will completely makes
<v Speaker 1>sense to me.
<v Speaker 3>So, yeah, we'll see ondred percent.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I should define APU is just a combination system
<v Speaker 1>on a chip that has a CPU and a GPU
<v Speaker 1>on it. It's the thing that's basically in many PCs,
<v Speaker 1>it's in consoles, basically run APUs. Steam deck is a
<v Speaker 1>rise in Okay.
<v Speaker 3>You worry twenty fifth, twenty twenty two, thank you, salamch Okay.
<v Speaker 2>Well there you go. All right.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so yeah, late twenty twenty five, early twenty twenty six,
<v Speaker 1>I could see that being the case. All right, let's
<v Speaker 1>see here, last thing real quick, what the hell happened
<v Speaker 1>with Banjo Kazooi? Over the weekend there was a YouTuber
<v Speaker 1>said he overheard Aaron Greenberg of Xbox saying that nobody
<v Speaker 1>cares about banjo Kazui.
<v Speaker 2>That got picked up a lot of places, and I
<v Speaker 2>think that was weird, very weird.
<v Speaker 1>For one the original source just be like, I heard
<v Speaker 1>him say that, and I don't think he was joking. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>but what did you hear him say or him say
<v Speaker 1>no one cares about banjo Kazui? What does that mean
<v Speaker 1>to anybody? Because they didn't say they're not making banjo Kazui.
<v Speaker 1>They didn't say that that's the reason we're not making
<v Speaker 1>banjo kazui. It is without extra context, without follow up questions,
<v Speaker 1>without getting a clarification. This is a useless thing to do,
<v Speaker 1>especially overhearing, or or even if you were directly conversing
<v Speaker 1>with him, then taking that conversation to the internet is
<v Speaker 1>only going to cause headaches for people. As as someone
<v Speaker 1>that that does leak, I'm like, this is this does
<v Speaker 1>not make sense to me. This is something that I
<v Speaker 1>would actively avoid and would try to be like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>can you tell me what you mean? Or I ask
<v Speaker 1>people around like is this the common sentiment inside Xbox?
<v Speaker 1>That the reason we're not doing banjos because no one
<v Speaker 1>cares about banjo. We don't have any of that Aaron
<v Speaker 1>Greenberg had it seemed like he was felt forced to
<v Speaker 1>have to clarify.
<v Speaker 2>He wrote on Twitter.
<v Speaker 1>Correct In response to someone saying that I don't think
<v Speaker 1>Aaron Greenberg would even say this, he said, correct, I
<v Speaker 1>absolutely know how much banshoe because he means to our
<v Speaker 1>fans and gamers everywhere. It holds a special place in
<v Speaker 1>my heart growing up playing these classic games. Yeah, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>but boy, I wish people would not have run with
<v Speaker 1>this because it just ruins things for everybody, like we
<v Speaker 1>I'm pretty sure this was overheard at the flight sim
<v Speaker 1>event that I was at. You know, I don't think
<v Speaker 1>it was the days I was there. I think this
<v Speaker 1>person was there on different days. They had multiple rounds
<v Speaker 1>of people come in for flight sim and Aaron Greenberg
<v Speaker 1>was there, and it was a nice time, and there's
<v Speaker 1>definitely opportunities and reasons to be like when someone says
<v Speaker 1>something like this is newsworthy, I am going to go
<v Speaker 1>take this here.
<v Speaker 2>This is just nowhere near that to me.
<v Speaker 3>How how did you see this hubbabalu? Yeah, it made
<v Speaker 3>no sense. And I saw not only the initial story,
<v Speaker 3>I then saw the response from Aaron Greenberg because they
<v Speaker 3>tagged someone tagged Aaron Greenberg in the link. I don't
<v Speaker 3>know how he got to it, but he completely was like,
<v Speaker 3>as you said, here correct, I know how much it
<v Speaker 3>is blah blah blah. I think that there might be
<v Speaker 3>some sort of like you know, litigation, maybe like they're
<v Speaker 3>making it up here. I think, is it liabel?
<v Speaker 1>I mean maybe, I think what's gonna happen is the
<v Speaker 1>YouTube just never gets invited to anything ever again. That
<v Speaker 1>could be it, you know, doing anything any sort of
<v Speaker 1>reporting whatever. But you know, was it worth it? No,
<v Speaker 1>because this is a story we cannot glean anything from. Still,
<v Speaker 1>I still believe the rumors we heard originally that they
<v Speaker 1>are going to make a banjo game. So when that
<v Speaker 1>comes out, what did this What did this story meant?
<v Speaker 1>Mean less than nothing. It was just a complete distraction,
<v Speaker 1>So we'll see. I just, uh, it makes things more
<v Speaker 1>difficult for everybody, makes Microsoft and other companies more hesitant
<v Speaker 1>to run these kind of these kinds of events.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not someone that like runs on the access side.
<v Speaker 1>Of media these days, where it's, oh, I gotta gotta
<v Speaker 1>keep our access, so that's what we got to protect
<v Speaker 1>above anything else. Not that not that most people are
<v Speaker 1>that way, but I also think that there's like, we're
<v Speaker 1>all just doing our jobs here, let's have some respect
<v Speaker 1>for one another.
<v Speaker 2>And this doesn't. This feels like disrespectful. This is not
<v Speaker 2>the way to do this.
<v Speaker 3>No, they they definitely either either reaching, So so there's
<v Speaker 3>three options. They're reaching and they didn't hear what they
<v Speaker 3>thought they heard. They just made it up entirely, which
<v Speaker 3>you know is his own bag of worms or this
<v Speaker 3>was said in jest. Yep and banjo comes out anyway,
<v Speaker 3>and they look like an idiot. No matter what, there
<v Speaker 3>is nothing, nothing benefits this YouTuber speaking of someone needing
<v Speaker 3>media training. There's no benefit to reporting this at all.
<v Speaker 3>There was no vetting that he didn't asked did they?
<v Speaker 3>Did they reach out?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Aaron reached out.
<v Speaker 3>It was very who, very vocal on social media, will
<v Speaker 3>answer any questions they get. Did you really say this?
<v Speaker 3>Since this is what you meant? Like, I can you?
<v Speaker 3>Can you give me a little bit here? He would
<v Speaker 3>have happily given it to you. So what what are
<v Speaker 3>we doing here? I hope Aaron I want to use
<v Speaker 3>this joke. I hope he gucks you up. That's what
<v Speaker 3>I had.
<v Speaker 1>Huh, come off, everybody, Come on, God damn all right,
<v Speaker 1>let's get to the pull question that does it for
<v Speaker 1>today's news stories. The poll question from last week do
<v Speaker 1>you want a God of War TV show? Twenty percent
<v Speaker 1>said yes, eighty percent said no. That's on three and
<v Speaker 1>three point seven thousand votes. Yeah, I mean I.
<v Speaker 2>Think you know.
<v Speaker 1>When I would post this question, it was like, this
<v Speaker 1>doesn't take anything away from the games. You'll still get
<v Speaker 1>the games. Even if you say yes. Hang enough people
<v Speaker 1>are like, yeah, but I got the games, So I
<v Speaker 1>don't care about a TV show. I'm not going to
<v Speaker 1>watch it. One in five we would most of this
<v Speaker 1>poll question following up to a new story about, Hey,
<v Speaker 1>the show is kind of rebooting. It's lost its producer,
<v Speaker 1>it's lost, the scripts aren't good or whatever, the restart
<v Speaker 1>and everything, so there's a chance it never happens. But
<v Speaker 1>even if it does, it seems like most people don't care.
<v Speaker 2>How about you?
<v Speaker 3>I I think there, I think this poll, and I
<v Speaker 3>do not want to question the legitimacy of the Giant
<v Speaker 3>bomb pole, but I think that sample size is not
<v Speaker 3>indicative of the greater God of War fandom because I
<v Speaker 3>imagine a lot of people who are God of War
<v Speaker 3>fans that aren't on Giant Bombers should be may have
<v Speaker 3>missed this.
<v Speaker 1>I think there is a a casual audience would be
<v Speaker 1>like that seems cool, But I'm never going to play
<v Speaker 1>that game.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, of course there's a reason to do the
<v Speaker 2>show still for sure, or.
<v Speaker 3>They'll watch it. And I feel like, I it's not
<v Speaker 3>good to compare everything to this, but I think fall
<v Speaker 3>Out now I set a good standard, like a new
<v Speaker 3>gold stander, because that show is very, very good and
<v Speaker 3>I really enjoyed it and eathed life into New Vegas
<v Speaker 3>and Fallouts three and four by itself. I think a
<v Speaker 3>God of War show, particularly with the story of the
<v Speaker 3>reboot and Ragnarok, could have a lot of legs. I
<v Speaker 3>really do, and I would like to see them try it.
<v Speaker 2>Now.
<v Speaker 3>The Tumult, the Tumult behind the scenes is not called
<v Speaker 3>the Hamult, the Tamault. Yeah, that sounds right, the tam Mault.
<v Speaker 3>That doesn't sound ideal, and I hope they smooth that out.
<v Speaker 3>But hey, I am willing to give anything a shot.
<v Speaker 3>And I think there are multiple video game franchises that
<v Speaker 3>are worthy of TV and full length movies, God of
<v Speaker 3>War being one of them. And yeah, I would give it.
<v Speaker 3>I would, I would sit, I would watch, I would
<v Speaker 3>give it a shot. So why not? I am I
<v Speaker 3>am the twenty percent in this case excellent.
<v Speaker 1>If it's good, I'll watch it. It's very good, I think,
<v Speaker 1>because I keep hearing the Penguins good. I still haven't
<v Speaker 1>watched it. I think I'm going to, though it's I
<v Speaker 1>think that's on Max, so i'd have to track it down.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think I have Max right now.
<v Speaker 3>The Penguin, Oh, the Penguin. I haven't started that either.
<v Speaker 3>That is Max.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I got I got NFL Sunday ticket.
<v Speaker 1>I think I said I got three months of or
<v Speaker 1>four months of Max free, and I don't I don't
<v Speaker 1>know how to redeem it. I've tried a bunch of
<v Speaker 1>different things. It's not worked. So if anyone from YouTube
<v Speaker 1>TV is watching, help me out here. Uh right, we
<v Speaker 1>got a new poll question coming out coming to you
<v Speaker 1>in a second. Before we get to that, Jason Finelli,
<v Speaker 1>why don't you tell people where they can find you
<v Speaker 1>on the internet what you have going on? All that
<v Speaker 1>good stuff?
<v Speaker 3>All right? So at big Man, Finelle on X and
<v Speaker 3>now I made it a while ago, but now that
<v Speaker 3>everybody's over there now Blue Sky smiling at me, Jason's
<v Speaker 3>on Blue Sky, I go and see so yeah, Blue Sky,
<v Speaker 3>big Man, Fidelli, dot be Sky, Shochal, whatever that link is,
<v Speaker 3>find me there. Just had something published in Rolling Stone.
<v Speaker 3>That's fun, that's cool. Yeah. I interviewed Nomada Studio over
<v Speaker 3>NIVA the recent you know, Fake Dog, and I play
<v Speaker 3>it for the interview. I played it, they got I
<v Speaker 3>got an early code and played it in anticipation of
<v Speaker 3>the interview. Uh and they weaponize parenthood. So be ready,
<v Speaker 3>I can't play that. No, it's it's uh, it's it's intense.
<v Speaker 3>Like and I'll give you a perfect example. There's a
<v Speaker 3>moment and we talk about this in the interview where
<v Speaker 3>you get separated from the dog, right, And Well, first
<v Speaker 3>of all, there's there's a button where you can call Neva.
<v Speaker 3>It's one button. You say Neva, and if she's around,
<v Speaker 3>she'll come to you and you can pet her, or
<v Speaker 3>if she's a puppy and she's far away, calls her
<v Speaker 3>to you. It's the only word spoken in the entire
<v Speaker 3>game is Neva. Now, there's a point where you get
<v Speaker 3>separated in a maze, right. If you press that button
<v Speaker 3>while you're separated, it is not a happy Neva. It's
<v Speaker 3>a exasperated, worried, scared Neva. Neva like shouting about where
<v Speaker 3>is this dog? And then you get through the maze
<v Speaker 3>and the dog's right there. Nothing's wrong with the hell's
<v Speaker 3>matter we're worried about.
<v Speaker 1>Wow.
<v Speaker 3>If that's not parenthood in the nutshell, absolutely, I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know what. But like, the whole game is
<v Speaker 3>themed around parenthood, and and this seasonal structure where in
<v Speaker 3>the beginning, the dog's a puppy in the spring, and
<v Speaker 3>in the summertime it's grown a little more. All it's
<v Speaker 3>grown a little more, and each time it learns a
<v Speaker 3>new ability. And that's instead of the player getting the
<v Speaker 3>new abilities, the companion gets the new abilities and you
<v Speaker 3>use them in tandem. Very very cool metaphor for growing
<v Speaker 3>up and and and the it's it's worth it, but
<v Speaker 3>be warned. It's worth it. But as a parent, it's
<v Speaker 3>going to hit you.
<v Speaker 1>And it's very highly reviewed right now. People seem across
<v Speaker 1>the place to really enjoy it. So yep, so you
<v Speaker 1>can you can read that on Rolling Stone. And then
<v Speaker 1>this Friday, I will be in Vegas for Magic on
<v Speaker 1>Magic the Gathering Convention Friday, Saturday Sunday. So if you're
<v Speaker 1>going to be in Vegas playing cards, let's hang out.
<v Speaker 1>They got some some some news coming out that I'll
<v Speaker 1>be reporting on soon and yeah, should be a good time.
<v Speaker 1>That sounds excellent. Thank you, Thank you again for telling
<v Speaker 1>us all about that. Sorry I was reeling because and
<v Speaker 1>chat Weezeman, we were talking about Max the one to
<v Speaker 1>watch HBO. Parently they rebranded to drop even that reference
<v Speaker 1>to HBO. Now apparently it's called Max the One to watch.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, which is insane. What is Highlander even on the
<v Speaker 3>service one? Yes, man, the whole name is Max the
<v Speaker 3>one to watch. Yeah, it's it's real dumb.
<v Speaker 2>So dumb.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, we'll get rid of HBO branding obviously, Like
<v Speaker 1>we can just write a novel or we could write
<v Speaker 1>a whole research book about how dumb of an idea
<v Speaker 1>that was. But then they'd be like, no, we're gonna okay,
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna say Max Coland the one to watch HBO.
<v Speaker 1>So people know and now it's like, well, drop HBO
<v Speaker 1>from that and keep the One to watch. That's the
<v Speaker 1>important part. What what is wrong with you people? How
<v Speaker 1>did you so merry that you people have that much
<v Speaker 1>money and could be that dumb? I will, I will
<v Speaker 1>tell you what's wrong with him. It's two words, David Zas.
<v Speaker 2>It's wrong with a lot of things, all right now,
<v Speaker 2>cold question.
<v Speaker 1>Do you feel the need for a Steam to steam
<v Speaker 1>Deck two yet the Steam due you know maybe Sam Steam?
<v Speaker 2>Uh?
<v Speaker 1>Yes, no, and I never even felt the need for
<v Speaker 1>a steam Deck one. Those are your options, team.
<v Speaker 3>List.
<v Speaker 1>We'll get the results of that, Paul and talk about
<v Speaker 1>on Game Mess Mornings. Here on Giant Bomb on Wednesday.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking of Giant Bomb, BombCast returns tomorrow.
<v Speaker 2>I can't wait. It'll be a good time.
<v Speaker 1>Mostly it's gonna be Jan sitting back and sign annoyingly
<v Speaker 1>annoyedly as me, Mike and Dan.
<v Speaker 2>I think the whole guy should be there fight with
<v Speaker 2>one another about astro.
<v Speaker 1>Uh so it should be. It's gonna be a good episode.
<v Speaker 1>You're not gonna want to miss it.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>Gamester Mornings returns on Wednesday.
<v Speaker 1>As I said, we should have a new episode of
<v Speaker 1>Lucy's Blight Club either Wednesday, maybe Friday. We're gonna try
<v Speaker 1>to fit into the schedule one way or the other.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>She is on episode two of Rise of Lucy.
<v Speaker 1>I can't remember what we ended up calling it, but
<v Speaker 1>she's playing Skull Island Rise of Kong. It's been fantastic.
<v Speaker 2>And then yeah, there should be a week. We'll have
<v Speaker 2>a lot of the normal stuff. I want to do
<v Speaker 2>another week. Yeah, we'll do it.
<v Speaker 1>I want to do another ghost in Grublins or grub
<v Speaker 1>grub By Goolies might change the name.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, I'm just gonna play a spooky games. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>I'll play grab By Goolies. I just like the name
<v Speaker 1>grubbed by Goolies. I want to play that at Killing Time.
<v Speaker 1>The Killing Time a remaster from Night Gives is so
<v Speaker 1>cool looking. I really am a huge fan of it.
<v Speaker 1>So we'll get that on the website. Maybe a few
<v Speaker 1>other things that if you're the Spotlight I think is
<v Speaker 1>going to be out this week. We'll play that on
<v Speaker 1>that on that show. So we'll do kind of like
<v Speaker 1>a little bit of a fun another grab bag of
<v Speaker 1>spooky games. Although last time I said we will do
<v Speaker 1>a grub a grub bag, a grub a grab bag
<v Speaker 1>with grub and I only played a Muppet Monster Mash
<v Speaker 1>for the PlayStation one, which is a good game, but
<v Speaker 1>it was just a singular game and not a bag
<v Speaker 1>of any kind. All right, Jason Fanwi, thank you for
<v Speaker 1>hanging out with me today and talk hokome about video games.
<v Speaker 2>I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 3>Man, happy to do it. A great way to start
<v Speaker 3>the week. I hope the hope the week is good
<v Speaker 3>for Giant Bomb and uh we'll do it again.
<v Speaker 1>So absolutely, thank you all for listening and watching. You're
<v Speaker 1>the best audience and gaming. Until next time, have a
<v Speaker 1>good one, take care of yourself and goodbye and go
<v Speaker 1>to Hell. Jesse fora Telly
