<v Speaker 2>through the world of gaming on Game Mess Mornings Live
<v Speaker 2>with me Jeff Grubb. Today, it has happened. Switch two
<v Speaker 2>images have leaked. But are they real? You know that
<v Speaker 2>doesn't matter, But first please join me and welcome today's
<v Speaker 2>co host the Game Mess Mornings.
<v Speaker 1>It's Lucy James. Everybody, Lucy, how are you doing?
<v Speaker 3>Where can I find these leaked switch to images? There
<v Speaker 3>are just so many websites which one switch d images.
<v Speaker 1>On the hot set's everywhere? Uh, Lucy James, how are
<v Speaker 1>you doing?
<v Speaker 3>I'm good.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>Figuring out my lighting in the morning, it's.
<v Speaker 1>Impossible, It's fine, it's fun.
<v Speaker 3>I'm well. Went to Godzilla Fest at the weekend.
<v Speaker 1>How was that?
<v Speaker 3>Paid thirty? Go to a gym full of Godzilla merch
<v Speaker 3>for sale? Had a lovely time? No, and then yeah, otherwise,
<v Speaker 3>keeping on going to Barcelona next week. Wedding all happening.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, well, I can't see that word anymore without thinking
<v Speaker 2>that way of saying it alone. Absolutely, Yeah, a lot,
<v Speaker 2>a lot of travels still for the for the crew. Uh,
<v Speaker 2>that's just that time of year. A lot of these
<v Speaker 2>companies have had a lot of different events. Can you
<v Speaker 2>say why you're going to bart I can't remind it.
<v Speaker 3>Remember it's a heavily Indian and it's my friend's wedding.
<v Speaker 1>Ok.
<v Speaker 3>No, it's a friend's wedding. So very excited. Actual little
<v Speaker 3>break and then go back the UK for a week
<v Speaker 3>see the family and uh.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, good deal, good deal.
<v Speaker 2>And then it's uh and then it does feel like
<v Speaker 2>sprint to the end of the year, like it's going
<v Speaker 2>to be NonStop all games coming out.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, you know, we're thinking about Game of the Year
<v Speaker 1>stuff already.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's it's it's happening, got it. It is, Uh,
<v Speaker 2>the final quarter approaches. But I right now am enjoying
<v Speaker 2>kind of like I'm gonna take some time from all
<v Speaker 2>these games coming out and I'm just gonna play the
<v Speaker 2>games I want to play. That has been Star Wars
<v Speaker 2>Outlaws actually, which I continue to enjoy more and more
<v Speaker 2>the more I play it.
<v Speaker 3>Good. Yeah, I don't know. I will probably get to
<v Speaker 3>Star Wars Outlaws maybe when things die down a little bit.
<v Speaker 3>I'm playing a bunch of stuff that I am like,
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, like I could of mix and matching.
<v Speaker 3>I'm still doing like fields of Mystery of popping in
<v Speaker 3>on that. I think I've tricked myself into thinking that
<v Speaker 3>I will have that gap in the year when oh,
<v Speaker 3>I can definitely just play all these games at some point.
<v Speaker 3>And I don't think that. Someone just just said Lucy's
<v Speaker 3>forgetting about her blight club. Huh, you can't take time off,
<v Speaker 3>we see. But I'm playing a mix of stuff that
<v Speaker 3>I'm very eager to talk about.
<v Speaker 1>You. Do you have a WEE.
<v Speaker 3>An original week or are we you?
<v Speaker 2>I guess no, Okay, now that's fine because we're trying
<v Speaker 2>to I'm like, I get to choose your game because.
<v Speaker 3>I want I could, I could get one from the office.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm like, okay, well then I want to. I
<v Speaker 2>just want to see what options around the tables.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah. I was gonna say, yeah, I mean whatever. John
<v Speaker 3>Luke can facilitate consoles, et cetera says you can't ask
<v Speaker 3>people that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Sorr, I shouldn't ask if you have a WEE.
<v Speaker 2>You're right, that's right. Private shouldn't do that.
<v Speaker 3>That's private. Private proprietary information.
<v Speaker 2>Dietary information. Absolutely, Yeah, we have some pretty good ideas.
<v Speaker 2>Mostly I think I'm gonna choose based on the outfit you.
<v Speaker 2>It would be funniest to see you dressed up in because.
<v Speaker 1>We'll also have to see you that. So yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>can't wait either.
<v Speaker 2>It's going to be very good for people wondering black
<v Speaker 2>club happening today. So Mike should have been on, it
<v Speaker 2>should be on. What feels like is going to be
<v Speaker 2>episode three of four of Alone in the Mitch. So yep,
<v Speaker 2>next couple of weeks might be able to make the
<v Speaker 2>Lucy episode happen.
<v Speaker 1>Of course, you know, time permitting. We'll see how that
<v Speaker 1>goes everybody.
<v Speaker 2>I think mid October is mid October also feels like
<v Speaker 2>right when we should be good for that, and you know,
<v Speaker 2>if we take it.
<v Speaker 1>We sometimes we take a break between seasons, so we
<v Speaker 1>could do a Delight club.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, there's a whole bunch of things we can do,
<v Speaker 2>but we'll try to get it done by a yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>he's oh, I'm halfway there, Mike and chat.
<v Speaker 1>He's later down. All right, let's explain what we do
<v Speaker 1>here most weekdays.
<v Speaker 2>I Jeff Grub will help piece your gaming life back
<v Speaker 2>together that includes breaking news and maybe even some of
<v Speaker 2>our own original reporting. For all these topics, I'll get
<v Speaker 2>the input of a bona fide expert who will make
<v Speaker 2>me look smart. If you were watching live on Twitch, welcome.
<v Speaker 2>You can always listen to the show later on podcast
<v Speaker 2>feeds by searching for Game Mess Mornings, or find the
<v Speaker 2>RSS on giant bomb dot com. You can also catch
<v Speaker 2>the show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>Hello YouTube.
<v Speaker 2>All right, we have a lot to get into, so
<v Speaker 2>let's start the morning mess with Alleged images of Nintendo's
<v Speaker 2>new Switch have appeared online. This is from Andy Robinson
<v Speaker 2>at VGC. Alleged images of the Nintendo Switch successor console
<v Speaker 2>have appeared online, showing as a design that's not too
<v Speaker 2>dissimilar from the previous console. The images, which appeared on
<v Speaker 2>Reddit but were originally sourced from a Chinese social media site,
<v Speaker 2>showed device with a larger eight inch screen, magnetic joy
<v Speaker 2>cons and USBC ports on both the top and the bottom.
<v Speaker 1>That sounds good to me.
<v Speaker 2>While the images are unverified, one source who has not
<v Speaker 2>seen the final Switch to console but has been briefed
<v Speaker 2>on Nintendo's plans told VGC that the reddit images match
<v Speaker 2>what the company has told partners to expect from its design.
<v Speaker 2>VGC has asked Nintendo for a comment on the story. Nintendo,
<v Speaker 2>of course laughed at them.
<v Speaker 1>I've been my experience. At least maybe I didn't have.
<v Speaker 3>Oh wait, hang on, I'm on the reddit post.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'll get the images up for everybody to take
<v Speaker 1>a look at here.
<v Speaker 3>Update thirteen fifty nine UTC. What time is that.
<v Speaker 1>That's not a real time, but it's the up to the.
<v Speaker 3>CAD renders may not be legitimate. It wasn't stated that
<v Speaker 3>the renders were mockups. However, the original poster was a
<v Speaker 3>three D modeling enthusiast. It's a possibility that should be considered. Nevertheless,
<v Speaker 3>the two photos depicting actual hardware are likely real.
<v Speaker 2>So, yeah, you could see here there's some real hardware
<v Speaker 2>mixed in with these renders.
<v Speaker 1>Let's see here. I'll say that.
<v Speaker 2>These things might not be from Nintendo real, but I
<v Speaker 2>think there's still a chance that this is based on
<v Speaker 2>like the specifications that Nintendo's may be handed out to
<v Speaker 2>some partners in the last few weeks, where it's like,
<v Speaker 2>here's what to expect. So if you're building, you're trying
<v Speaker 2>to make products third party products as accessories. Maybe that
<v Speaker 2>is something that you can start doing based on these specifications,
<v Speaker 2>and then someone could take that and render it. It
<v Speaker 2>just doesn't look like a render out of Nintendo Company
<v Speaker 2>Limited in Japan. I don't think this is how they
<v Speaker 2>would actually present this console in any context. Really's before
<v Speaker 2>we get into any more of that, though, Lucy, Let's
<v Speaker 2>just operate under an assumption here that this is real.
<v Speaker 2>When you see this, how do you feel about the
<v Speaker 2>switch to looking at this design, meet.
<v Speaker 3>The new switch, see the hold of it.
<v Speaker 2>For audio listeners. It looks a lot like a switch.
<v Speaker 2>Honestly looks at a glance it is just a switch.
<v Speaker 2>It's very hard to tell the difference. Maybe a little
<v Speaker 2>bit more rounded on the corners. I do love the
<v Speaker 2>idea of us seaport on the top and the bottom.
<v Speaker 1>That's great.
<v Speaker 2>Magnetic joy cons if that means that they will be
<v Speaker 2>more secure, which we're thinking they're going to use that
<v Speaker 2>electric current those magnets. When a current runs through it
<v Speaker 2>like it sort of locks in the place. When you
<v Speaker 2>send a new current through it, it unlocks it. So
<v Speaker 2>hopefully it's very sturdy. All that stuff sounds great. Just
<v Speaker 2>looking at it though, it's like, oh, that is just
<v Speaker 2>a switch again, and I kind of can't help it's stupid.
<v Speaker 2>It is to be a little dis pointed because this
<v Speaker 2>is what I want, Lucy. I wanted to just be
<v Speaker 2>a switch again. So why am I disappointed?
<v Speaker 3>Because we grew up in late stage capitalism.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's four stops.
<v Speaker 2>The lessons has been my entire life, and I want, like,
<v Speaker 2>give me, tell me there's a reason to upgrade, even
<v Speaker 2>if it's a reason I don't really care about.
<v Speaker 3>But that's the thing where it's like, God, oh, this
<v Speaker 3>is reminding me I need to sell my day one
<v Speaker 3>switch before the market gets Yeah, I got an old one,
<v Speaker 3>and I just because of the way that I am,
<v Speaker 3>I just have my old one just sat and a drawn.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like say, yeah, absolutely, I got that two or
<v Speaker 1>three back there.
<v Speaker 3>Keep it for crimes absolutely not. No, I don't know,
<v Speaker 3>Like I the thing about Nintendo is that I am
<v Speaker 3>sure like, obviously whatever this is going to be fake,
<v Speaker 3>if this image, these images are fake or not. It's
<v Speaker 3>like whatever Nintendo has for me, it's more about the
<v Speaker 3>software than the hardware. Like I'm interested to see what
<v Speaker 3>the new gimmick is and I use gimmick with love.
<v Speaker 3>I use it. I don't. I'm not saying that a
<v Speaker 3>gimmick is like, you know, a bad thing when it
<v Speaker 3>comes to consoles and stuff, but there's always something cool
<v Speaker 3>and something that no one else is doing, and that's
<v Speaker 3>what I'm excited about. I'm excited for Nintendo to do
<v Speaker 3>Nintendo's thing and show off this console. I'm ready for
<v Speaker 3>the Do you remember the advert where it's like the
<v Speaker 3>person who brought it the first switch advert where they
<v Speaker 3>brought it to the party, like a friend of mine.
<v Speaker 3>Friend of mine went as that person for Halloween. Yeah, fantastic,
<v Speaker 3>and so like, I don't know, I'm excited for all
<v Speaker 3>that part of it. That's the part that I get
<v Speaker 3>excited about it because at this point, speculation based off
<v Speaker 3>random renders, it's just not as fun for me.
<v Speaker 2>I think it's part of the process, right, It's part
<v Speaker 2>of It's part of the process, part of what we
<v Speaker 2>go through. It's very familiar when if people are paying
<v Speaker 2>attention to the Nintendo n X. There were multiple false starts. There,
<v Speaker 2>lots of really wild designs. People didn't really know what
<v Speaker 2>to expect. There was that oval shaped one that was
<v Speaker 2>all screen and the buttons would pop up around the
<v Speaker 2>analog sticks.
<v Speaker 1>Digitally.
<v Speaker 2>It was it was absurd, but yeah, it's part of
<v Speaker 2>the process, and it feels like, Okay, this is very
<v Speaker 2>familiar territory and that oh, we're back home, we're here,
<v Speaker 2>and we're probably racing toward the reveal that might confirm
<v Speaker 2>all this or or might actually make us realize, oh,
<v Speaker 2>this was.
<v Speaker 1>A mistake for the most part.
<v Speaker 2>But you know, this stuff lines up right now with
<v Speaker 2>what we've heard recently of It is in production now,
<v Speaker 2>people like workers. Each individual worker is getting their hands
<v Speaker 2>on one thousand switch to systems per day. And the
<v Speaker 2>other rumors that Nintendo was probably maybe thinking about announcing
<v Speaker 2>some sort of release of some sort of announcement this
<v Speaker 2>month that was those were things that were kind of
<v Speaker 2>going around at the last couple of conventions, and so yeah,
<v Speaker 2>if that stuff's out there happening, that means they are
<v Speaker 2>like these things.
<v Speaker 1>The hard work exists.
<v Speaker 2>Some people have seen it, they have their phones with them,
<v Speaker 2>maybe they could take a picture of it. They're probably
<v Speaker 2>shooting commercials that that that lady from the first switch
<v Speaker 2>trailer has probably come back to shooting to switch to
<v Speaker 2>trailer and maybe she's leaking stuff.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, no, no, maybe maybe she's she's giving it
<v Speaker 3>to her kids.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, right, it's been long enough.
<v Speaker 2>It's been met her soulmate at that party, at that party,
<v Speaker 2>and so she's got a six year old at home
<v Speaker 2>right now who's very into Astro.
<v Speaker 1>He's like, no, you got to see this real ship.
<v Speaker 1>Here's the switch.
<v Speaker 3>She's a six year old at home who's gonna get
<v Speaker 3>Mario Catt eight and is gonna fucking enjoy it.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, exactly once again.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, as always, I wish Nintendo would just come out
<v Speaker 2>tell us what this thing really is. But part of
<v Speaker 2>me has grown to enjoy this part of the process
<v Speaker 2>as well. And like even Andy's like, gott take this
<v Speaker 2>with a grain of salt. I'm like, yeah, I'm right
<v Speaker 2>there with you. But these real images are like I say,
<v Speaker 2>real as in the.
<v Speaker 3>Digital Foundry post it like that's in that thing too.
<v Speaker 3>It's like, why did you make a mother like a
<v Speaker 3>motherboard and stuff like why would you make all the
<v Speaker 3>internal shit.
<v Speaker 1>Like well, you mean for the for the rendering.
<v Speaker 3>No, hang on, Digital found.
<v Speaker 1>Put it in the giant bomb chat if you could.
<v Speaker 3>Someone did. Yeah, and that's where I got it from
<v Speaker 3>here go there. Why fake a motherboard?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so right, this is what Yeah exactly, so of
<v Speaker 2>this leak here that Andy has, he's got these images
<v Speaker 2>as well. There are all these renders that do look
<v Speaker 2>very like placeholder and stuff that might go into a
<v Speaker 2>technical manual or like I said, partners. Then there's these
<v Speaker 2>two images I think there's yeah, these two images where
<v Speaker 2>it's like, it's not the blue background it is. Here's
<v Speaker 2>the side of the joy Cons, the new joy Cons,
<v Speaker 2>and then here is the motherboard inside of the unit
<v Speaker 2>as well as the what the look looks like the
<v Speaker 2>holder for the battery. And this is stuff that is
<v Speaker 2>probably not probably not faked, and if it I'll say probably,
<v Speaker 2>and we'll get to a certain area where it could
<v Speaker 2>still be fake, because again you've got to remember that
<v Speaker 2>the history of people faking these things has been very storied.
<v Speaker 1>People have gone to great links.
<v Speaker 2>It's still it's probably not fake because this is only
<v Speaker 2>just now happened the week that we heard it's it's
<v Speaker 2>going into production. This is probably out there and again
<v Speaker 2>this is probably why Nintendo will announce something here very soon.
<v Speaker 2>But you know, sure, you fake the the renders and
<v Speaker 2>then you get a three D printer and you fake
<v Speaker 2>this as well. That people have definitely done three D
<v Speaker 2>printed stuff to to do hoaxes in the past, that
<v Speaker 2>would not be possibility.
<v Speaker 3>Purple people need to raises the fantastic point, which is,
<v Speaker 3>do we know what Jeff Baklar has been three D
<v Speaker 3>printing recently?
<v Speaker 1>We don't. We don't. He's been very quiet and very quiet,
<v Speaker 1>don't he's.
<v Speaker 3>He's been three D printing JoJo's Bizarre Adventures like that.
<v Speaker 3>Man is so deep on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
<v Speaker 1>Now. I think if you if you zoom out here,
<v Speaker 1>you will see all the Jojo dolls.
<v Speaker 2>And the mini mini customboard machine, pinball machines. Yeah, exactly,
<v Speaker 2>And I think that's very incriminating for Jeff Backlar.
<v Speaker 1>You should just accept.
<v Speaker 3>Hang on, hang on, what's this? What's this? From one
<v Speaker 3>Dan Reicher.
<v Speaker 2>Probably, I'm gonna bet it's the movie Nubes. I'm gonna
<v Speaker 2>bet that it's actually not it's not. Okay, take a
<v Speaker 2>look here, Dan record and chat says, oh yeah, Nintendo on, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo on. Yeah, this is what probably what I was
<v Speaker 2>thinking of. I couldn't think of the exact thing. God,
<v Speaker 2>we put this here just so people can see it.
<v Speaker 2>Uh for audio listeners. The Nintendo on was one of
<v Speaker 2>these hoaxes way in the past. Yeah, it's like it
<v Speaker 2>had like it kind of looks like the YouTube logo
<v Speaker 2>really does.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, this is it. It looks like that company that
<v Speaker 3>helps you. It looks like a company that helps you
<v Speaker 3>switch to a cheaper electricity supply.
<v Speaker 1>Yes for real.
<v Speaker 2>Uh either way, I am almost switched to this scene
<v Speaker 2>with alf and Pizza going everywhere.
<v Speaker 1>Let me go over here instead. Uh, there we go.
<v Speaker 1>That's a good time. I just have that just in
<v Speaker 1>case we ever need it.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, I'll switch to Who knows when that thing's coming out.
<v Speaker 2>The Nintendo said they want to sell fifteen million switches
<v Speaker 2>this year. They want They just introduced new bondles with
<v Speaker 2>Marty Cardate Deluxe as you alluded to, yet again for
<v Speaker 2>this holiday.
<v Speaker 1>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>They have told investors not to expect it this financial year,
<v Speaker 2>which means not until March.
<v Speaker 1>So that's that's the groundwork, all that stuff out of
<v Speaker 1>the way. Uh.
<v Speaker 2>If they were to, let's say, we have a revealed
<v Speaker 2>trailer this week next week before before Tokyo Game Show sometime.
<v Speaker 2>Do you think that means that this system could be
<v Speaker 2>out as early as April.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Yeah, I think.
<v Speaker 3>The world is ready for Nintendo to move on.
<v Speaker 2>That's that's definitely true, right, I think Nintendo is finally sorting, like,
<v Speaker 2>oh okay, people are not buying as many switches as
<v Speaker 2>we want them to.
<v Speaker 1>That's our bad. Let's get the switch to y You're.
<v Speaker 3>On Facebook marketplace in the broader San Francisco area. Baby,
<v Speaker 3>you got to keep buying the switch.
<v Speaker 2>Whereify it's it's a launch switch. I promise you that
<v Speaker 2>thing will sell for reasons.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>The problem. The problem is that I bought it in
<v Speaker 3>the UK, so I only have a UK.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but it's all you about it.
<v Speaker 3>It's USB, c U.
<v Speaker 2>SBC in the end. Yeah, well we'll see. I'm I'm
<v Speaker 2>with you that it's if this thing gets announced soon.
<v Speaker 2>April is still on the table, although if it's not April, I.
<v Speaker 1>Don't think it'll be the summer. So April May.
<v Speaker 3>Is April feels right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, And you know we've heard that they originally maybe
<v Speaker 2>think about latching it this year, and then that got
<v Speaker 2>moved because they wanted to work on the games. More
<v Speaker 2>a six month delay ish for the games. So that
<v Speaker 2>does put it in the April May time zone. Someone's
<v Speaker 2>games could come out, could release in the summer. That
<v Speaker 2>feels about right. I don't know if they don't need
<v Speaker 2>a whole year. Now that that said, who knows. Maybe
<v Speaker 2>the Mario game is the specific, specific thing they're worried
<v Speaker 2>about and that they want to get that just right.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe that does take a whole year and they don't
<v Speaker 2>want launch without that thing. We'll see, but.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, details, real details should start to come out here
<v Speaker 1>pretty soon. All right? Uh wait, I just thought please.
<v Speaker 3>So you know how in all the marketing for the switch,
<v Speaker 3>whenever they do the video they have the this the snap.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, they have the switch too.
<v Speaker 3>Are they going to have to do yeah?
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, that's actually that's not bad.
<v Speaker 3>Lucy you Nintendo.
<v Speaker 1>Cut the check cat the check. Horizons zero Don Remastered
<v Speaker 1>leaks on ESRB website. It said, what all the kids
<v Speaker 1>are clamoring for from this rom?
<v Speaker 2>Darren bon th use at Oh I'm sorry as I
<v Speaker 2>wrote it here, apparently Darren Bond the booze at GameSpot, Sorry, Darren.
<v Speaker 2>Horizons zero Don Remastered has been rated by the ESRB,
<v Speaker 2>suggesting that an upgraded version of the open world game
<v Speaker 2>is in development for PS five and PC. First released
<v Speaker 2>for PS four only in twenty seventeen. Horizons Zero Don
<v Speaker 2>was later ported to PC in twenty twenty and received
<v Speaker 2>a sequel, Horizon Forbidden West in twenty twenty three. Rumors
<v Speaker 2>of a remaster first popped up in twenty twenty two,
<v Speaker 2>as reports claimed that accessibility features, graphical modes, and quality
<v Speaker 2>of life improvements of the gameplay itself would bring the
<v Speaker 2>game up to the same standard as its sequel. This
<v Speaker 2>thing's probably happening. We've heard about it for actually quite
<v Speaker 2>some time. It could be announced in that state of
<v Speaker 2>play that is probably coming up on the twenty fourth.
<v Speaker 2>Almost certainly happening on the twenty fourth. I don't know
<v Speaker 2>if this will definitely be in there, but it makes sense.
<v Speaker 2>It seems to be lining up.
<v Speaker 1>Lucy. My question to you is, why.
<v Speaker 3>What are we doing here? What are we doing here? Like?
<v Speaker 3>I'm not you know, I don't like to shit on things,
<v Speaker 3>so I'm not going to. I'm not a big fan
<v Speaker 3>of the Horizon IP. I'm also not a big fan
<v Speaker 3>of PlayStations refusal to put Bloodborn on PS five or
<v Speaker 3>like remaster a game that like would benefit from it
<v Speaker 3>from like a sixty frames per second or.
<v Speaker 2>Appear again because of this that still don't expect blood everybody. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I'd still still know on the Bloodborn, but you.
<v Speaker 3>Know how annoying twenty twenty five is going to be. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>the tenth anniversary of Blood Pod.
<v Speaker 2>Is going to be so five pros out and it's
<v Speaker 2>just like all these other games are getting updated.
<v Speaker 1>Uh huh.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah. Anyway, No, Horizon is just a franchise. I've never
<v Speaker 3>been a fan of like in particular. I just I
<v Speaker 3>never really gelled with it. I also, yeah, I'm really
<v Speaker 3>not a fan of the way the PlayStation picks and
<v Speaker 3>chooses how to remaster games. Obviously. The last of us
<v Speaker 3>is the uh the key contender there where it comes to,
<v Speaker 3>in my mind, seemingly unnecessary upgrades or updates. I don't know, man,
<v Speaker 3>why are we doing this?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? I mean I could think of.
<v Speaker 3>People will buy it.
<v Speaker 4>I don't want to yet anyone zero people want to
<v Speaker 4>buy it. Like it's it's a good looking game. It's
<v Speaker 4>a very good looking game. The Decima engine is beautiful.
<v Speaker 4>Forbidden West and Zero Dawn both very very beautiful. They've
<v Speaker 4>got a lot of faith in the Horizon.
<v Speaker 1>IP.
<v Speaker 3>You got that lego game coming out. We also have
<v Speaker 3>the rumored multiplayer game.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, it's sure.
<v Speaker 3>It's unless they're doing this to raise raise brand awareness,
<v Speaker 3>where it's like, hey, we're gonna announce. Yeah, there's a
<v Speaker 3>ton of reasons.
<v Speaker 2>I just it's it's mostly like yes, there's someone in
<v Speaker 2>chat said I'm sorry, I went by. They just want
<v Speaker 2>this game on the shelf and habits a PS five
<v Speaker 2>because they think that the games will sell longer than
<v Speaker 2>ever before.
<v Speaker 1>It's the that's the biggest reason.
<v Speaker 2>The second biggest reason like that, that's the reason you
<v Speaker 2>can get the green light.
<v Speaker 1>The reason the team.
<v Speaker 2>Wants to do it is because they do bring in
<v Speaker 2>new employees all the time, and having them work on
<v Speaker 2>remasters to get them accustomed to their processes and their
<v Speaker 2>engine and all this other stuff is very useful for them.
<v Speaker 2>So like in between our games, you're gonna come in
<v Speaker 2>here and you're going to work on these remasters, and
<v Speaker 2>that's going to hit you ready to work on the
<v Speaker 2>next real big project that we'll be coming much later.
<v Speaker 1>So I get it.
<v Speaker 2>But from a presentation of like here's what PlayStation is
<v Speaker 2>these days. If this continued, this does sort of like
<v Speaker 2>put like chinks in the armor a little bit of
<v Speaker 2>like hey, you know, PlayStation doing brand new, fun, exciting things,
<v Speaker 2>and then it goes by a couple of years of well, okay,
<v Speaker 2>Spider Man, Astrobot, no complaints, except for everything else is
<v Speaker 2>a remaster. So I just think from a perception point
<v Speaker 2>of view, this just continues to feed into a narrative
<v Speaker 2>of Stony's playing It's safe, and I think the reality
<v Speaker 2>is that a lot of those studios are busy making
<v Speaker 2>new things. They're taking longer than ever, and in a
<v Speaker 2>couple of years, most people will forget this few year
<v Speaker 2>period where they did have mostly remasters because all these
<v Speaker 2>studios were reloading at the same time. But that doesn't
<v Speaker 2>take away from them from the fact that in this
<v Speaker 2>moment they're asking people to spend seven hundred dollars on
<v Speaker 2>a PS five, a PS five Pro and the biggest,
<v Speaker 2>the biggest and best pitches for new experiences actually that
<v Speaker 2>old game slightly remastered so it can have better accessibility features.
<v Speaker 2>Which hey, that's that's awesome, but you kind of you
<v Speaker 2>don't need a remaster to do that necessarily.
<v Speaker 3>Oh you want to say, if they are putting in
<v Speaker 3>better accessibility features and like the PlayStation Accessibility Suite, it's fantastic,
<v Speaker 3>So okay, I will definitely absolutely concede that, like putting
<v Speaker 3>accessibility uptions in games is a pro of doing this
<v Speaker 3>remake remaster whatever that record.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, there's a I don't know what it is, but
<v Speaker 2>when I was asking about this, there's some other remaster
<v Speaker 2>kind of the works that will be even less exciting
<v Speaker 2>I've heard, and that was when it was like, and
<v Speaker 2>that's definitely not blood boll So yeah, I state of
<v Speaker 2>play I probably will get announced there. Do you think
<v Speaker 2>they can put anything else into that state of play
<v Speaker 2>that's bigger? That is from first party to to sort
<v Speaker 2>of offset this perception, especially with the PS five pro
<v Speaker 2>getting announced, like because you've got to get telp people
<v Speaker 2>like I know they're pitched so far has been look
<v Speaker 2>at all these games running better on PS five Pro.
<v Speaker 2>But when you ask people in the console space to
<v Speaker 2>spend seven hundred dollars on new hardware, usually you're accompanying
<v Speaker 2>that with and here's something that is going to take
<v Speaker 2>advantage of that that is completely new, like a Ghost
<v Speaker 2>of Tushima. Feels like now the time is right, But
<v Speaker 2>we've been saying that for the last several state of
<v Speaker 2>plays and showcases and it hasn't happened yet.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean, I think at this point something from
<v Speaker 3>First Party needs to come out swinging to convince people
<v Speaker 3>that heymember all the games on PlayStation. But also I
<v Speaker 3>thought Too was very good. Yeah, yeah, something that's something
<v Speaker 3>the First Party needs to come out. I do you
<v Speaker 3>think do you think PSVR two will get mentioned?
<v Speaker 2>No, well, there's there's that new rumor that they're going
<v Speaker 2>to have a wireless PSVR two, But I don't know
<v Speaker 2>if to mean that feels like it just muddies the
<v Speaker 2>water right now, because you're already asking people. You want
<v Speaker 2>people to spend the seven hundred hours on the ps
<v Speaker 2>five pro and don't don't distract them with their their
<v Speaker 2>budgets with the PSVR two is for as much as like,
<v Speaker 2>I don't think most people will be distracted by that.
<v Speaker 1>Just focus on the one thing at a time.
<v Speaker 2>And then and then you know, so that they still
<v Speaker 2>have the existing PSVR two and many people have bought that,
<v Speaker 2>or some people have bought that, so did they mention
<v Speaker 2>that they haven't? So far that ps or the ps
<v Speaker 2>five pro announcement happened and there was a chance there
<v Speaker 2>to say and PSVR two stuff runs better and they
<v Speaker 2>didn't take that opportunity to do that then, So I
<v Speaker 2>don't think they'll they're going to really bring that back
<v Speaker 2>into the fold in any real way. And the big
<v Speaker 2>part of that is they're just not investing in that,
<v Speaker 2>and there's not a lot of studios to invest in
<v Speaker 2>to make those kinds of games right now.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, I mean in terms of other studios, Bend,
<v Speaker 3>you've got.
<v Speaker 1>How mu's it been since Returnal?
<v Speaker 3>Oh? Returnal was twenty twenty one.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, So we're kind of getting into a point where
<v Speaker 2>maybe they could announce something.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, what was the one I was thinking of? Maybe
<v Speaker 3>like the Venom game?
<v Speaker 2>Oh, Venom, Yeah, that's who I think that's so that's
<v Speaker 2>a good call. Actually, uh, that's gonna be the expand alone.
<v Speaker 2>We are now a full year out from the release
<v Speaker 2>of Spider Man two, right, so announcing that for next
<v Speaker 2>year as like an eighteen months later, here's the expandal.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, like Santa Monica's new game whatever they're working on
<v Speaker 3>over there, Like they have a bunch of stuff to
<v Speaker 3>pull from. I really, I really hope someone comes out
<v Speaker 3>swinging with this one. Like it feels like console space
<v Speaker 3>in general, it is just in this weird deagnating that
<v Speaker 3>we talked about on the BombCast yesterday. Von three baby, Oh,
<v Speaker 3>we know that's inevitable. If that's If that's the case,
<v Speaker 3>I will be upset.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I think the most likeliest probably ghost to Tushma, and
<v Speaker 2>then right after that would be venom for.
<v Speaker 1>Things that could show up with the state of play.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, it's a state of play, so maybe the
<v Speaker 2>most likely scenario is none of that happens, and it's
<v Speaker 2>mostly third party partners as always prepared to be disappointed
<v Speaker 2>by a state of play. That's just kind of what
<v Speaker 2>those things have been. They are marketing obligations more than
<v Speaker 2>they are anything else. All right, let's take a quick break.
<v Speaker 2>When we come back, plenty more headlines to get into.
<v Speaker 2>EA had a few more things to say about what
<v Speaker 2>they're working on, and Squaring Nix talked about their disappointment
<v Speaker 2>Final Fantasy right after this. All right, we are back
<v Speaker 2>and let's do this thing here. Square Enix says Final
<v Speaker 2>Fantasy sixteen and Final Fantasy seven Rebirth didn't meet sales expectations.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Blair Marnell and GameSpot, or at GameSpot
<v Speaker 2>not and game Spot. That would be weird game spots
<v Speaker 2>not a person. Within the past two years, well, guys,
<v Speaker 2>I've never been in the same room as them, so
<v Speaker 2>I don't know. Within the past two years, Final Fantasy
<v Speaker 2>fans have been treated to two major releases in the
<v Speaker 2>franchise that were met with critical acclaim, but according to
<v Speaker 2>square Enix, Final Fantasy sixteen and Final Fantasy seven Rebirth
<v Speaker 2>have both failed to live up to the company's sales expectations.
<v Speaker 1>Via IGN.
<v Speaker 2>Square Enix disclosed the disappointing results during a financial results
<v Speaker 2>briefing in May, but the company only released the information yesterday.
<v Speaker 2>No excuse me. No sales figures for the games were provided,
<v Speaker 2>nor did the report state how far away the two
<v Speaker 2>titles were from square Enix's projections. This is going to
<v Speaker 2>be a little bit of the Boy who Cried Wolf
<v Speaker 2>for square Nix, right, because they are so frequently disappointed
<v Speaker 2>with their the sales thing, sales expectations of being so
<v Speaker 2>out of ligned with reality. It felt like in the past,
<v Speaker 2>going back to Tomb Raider so many.
<v Speaker 3>Times, so Western games would always get smacked.
<v Speaker 2>It would just be the whipping Boy. They would absolutely
<v Speaker 2>just get like a take into the woods shed. Every
<v Speaker 2>time there was financial report from screen to be like,
<v Speaker 2>this is why things aren't as good as.
<v Speaker 1>They could be because of this Western studio.
<v Speaker 2>Now they don't have those studios anymore, and they kind
<v Speaker 2>of have no other thing they can really say other
<v Speaker 2>than yeah, Final Fantasy didn't do what we need to do,
<v Speaker 2>but that was because of and they've said this now, exclusivity.
<v Speaker 2>We are moving past that. These games need to be everywhere.
<v Speaker 2>No matter how much money Sony wants to give us,
<v Speaker 2>we are we can't take it anymore.
<v Speaker 1>We got to put this thing out everywhere.
<v Speaker 2>Do you do you have any other way of like
<v Speaker 2>diagnosing any other problems with Final Fantasy beyond the exclusivity
<v Speaker 2>or do you think that really is the bulk of
<v Speaker 2>the case.
<v Speaker 3>Here diagnosing issues with Final Fantasy. I mean, yeah, exclusivity
<v Speaker 3>is part of it. You know wh would be really
<v Speaker 3>good to talk about this way is Alex Donaldson from
<v Speaker 3>RPG site. He has some really good insight on how
<v Speaker 3>Square kind of operates as a company and how they
<v Speaker 3>I saw him a couple weeks ago, and yeah, we
<v Speaker 3>were chatting about some stuff, but like, yeah, I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>Square is a very very strange company in how they operate.
<v Speaker 3>In general, it feels like their games never meet expectations,
<v Speaker 3>which you kind of say, like from a PR point
<v Speaker 3>of view, they could They could surely, like PR their
<v Speaker 3>stuff better or at least be better about setting expectations. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Although Yeah, Daniel Ahman says this is one of the
<v Speaker 3>right cases where Square NX is being reasonable, as both
<v Speaker 3>games really did underperform compared to past entries.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I mean Final Fantasy seven Rebirth for what, that's.
<v Speaker 1>Like four years and there's different different.
<v Speaker 3>Console generation in between Final Fantasy sixteen, depending on how
<v Speaker 3>long it took to make that game and how expensive
<v Speaker 3>it is.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, and it just didn't. It didn't perform comparable
<v Speaker 2>to Fantasy fifteen.
<v Speaker 1>It just didn't.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, the caveats would be like Final Fantasy seven Rebirth
<v Speaker 2>was on a system that had fewer people because it
<v Speaker 2>was earlier in the generation relative to when Final Fantasy
<v Speaker 2>seven Remake came out, and there was and some other excuses.
<v Speaker 2>Probably not that I'm saying o.
<v Speaker 3>Piku Nagi raises an amazing point, which was Final Fantasy
<v Speaker 3>seven Remake launched height of COVID.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, right, and that that probably does have some effect
<v Speaker 2>on it, for sure. I also think it's the part
<v Speaker 2>two effect of a trilogy where the part two always
<v Speaker 2>does the worst until all things are said and done,
<v Speaker 2>because people are like, Okay, well, I might just now
<v Speaker 2>wait until the third one is out play them all together,
<v Speaker 2>and that's easier to justify if you already waited on
<v Speaker 2>the first game. And then a lot of people who
<v Speaker 2>did play the first game might be feeling like, oh, okay,
<v Speaker 2>I want to continue the story, but I want to
<v Speaker 2>continue when I could see through the end.
<v Speaker 1>So caveats.
<v Speaker 2>Obviously that doesn't but that doesn't really matter to Square
<v Speaker 2>and because they have to put out products that perform
<v Speaker 2>based on how much they spin to make them, and
<v Speaker 2>that's what all these expectations are.
<v Speaker 1>Always set on.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>And they spent it seemingly a lot of money on
<v Speaker 2>both Final Fantasy seven Rebirth and Final Fantasy sixteen because
<v Speaker 2>they thought those big investments would pay off.
<v Speaker 1>They didn't.
<v Speaker 2>I want like at this point, yeah, you put them
<v Speaker 2>on I guess you put them on Xbox. There was
<v Speaker 2>definitely that announcement of like, hey, a lot of stuff's
<v Speaker 2>gonna end up on Xbox now going forward.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know how much that changes the calculus on things.
<v Speaker 3>And that's not going to move the needle.
<v Speaker 1>Not really coming on. But I mean the same time,
<v Speaker 1>do you think.
<v Speaker 3>That whole PC PC absolutely would Xbox is not going
<v Speaker 3>to move the needle in terms of.
<v Speaker 1>Sales, Yeah, right, I think I think that's all right. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, at this point it's kind of clear that
<v Speaker 1>that's that's scary. I mean, it won't hurt. It's not
<v Speaker 1>gonna hurt to be on there.
<v Speaker 2>And I think, you know, you if you're on Xbox,
<v Speaker 2>that makes it easier to get the check six months
<v Speaker 2>later for to get on Game Pass, and that will
<v Speaker 2>help as well. And Microsoft does seem willing to pay
<v Speaker 2>quite a bit of money for games like that to
<v Speaker 2>get on Game Pass six months later, as at least
<v Speaker 2>based on you know, companies like Sega returning to it
<v Speaker 2>over and over again.
<v Speaker 1>So we'll see.
<v Speaker 2>I do think though, that Final Fantasy seventeen comes along
<v Speaker 2>and it's different from Final Fantasy sixteen in that it
<v Speaker 2>maybe goes back to the basics a little bit, maybe
<v Speaker 2>like Very Fantasy.
<v Speaker 1>Well maybe, I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's time to drop the numbers and go
<v Speaker 3>back to Final Fantasy.
<v Speaker 1>Win a full reboot.
<v Speaker 3>The Final Fantasy not a full reboot, I think just
<v Speaker 3>titling wise, if you are someone who never grew up
<v Speaker 3>with a Final Fantasy game, oh, can I pick it
<v Speaker 3>up at the sixteenth game? Like if you're walking past
<v Speaker 3>a shelf. If you're walking, imagine a world where retail
<v Speaker 3>is still as valuable as it used to be. Right,
<v Speaker 3>if you've never played a Final Fantasy before, you don't
<v Speaker 3>even know anything about it, you're maybe just getting into gaming. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>you walk past the shelf and you see Final Fantasy sixteen,
<v Speaker 3>I'm like, I'm not going to start at sixteen.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you're almost certainly right that that does go through
<v Speaker 2>a lot of people's brains. It's just it's like if
<v Speaker 2>there's one series that has been able to like make
<v Speaker 2>it clear, like, well, yeah, it's that numbers tradition, but
<v Speaker 2>it doesn't refer to the.
<v Speaker 1>Actual like you need to know all these games before that.
<v Speaker 2>But uh, I think what maybe realized that that doesn't
<v Speaker 2>matter is when I've found out that people when they
<v Speaker 2>start a new podcast, some people will just listen to
<v Speaker 2>every episode, even if it's like a weekly news show
<v Speaker 2>or something like that, and it's just like, and you
<v Speaker 2>don't need to catch up on the history of this podcast,
<v Speaker 2>just start listening today. That's how it's meant to be
<v Speaker 2>listened to. But some people just feel they need to
<v Speaker 2>be a completionist. And uh yeah, if if that, and
<v Speaker 2>that's I think that's part of our It's built into
<v Speaker 2>our brains in a lot of ways.
<v Speaker 1>So I think you're probably right.
<v Speaker 2>I personally want them to see them stick with the
<v Speaker 2>numbers because I think it would be cowardly to abandoned
<v Speaker 2>in at this Yeah. I want to show, yes, exactly
<v Speaker 2>that that's that's fair. I can accept that, all right.
<v Speaker 2>New Star Wars Jedi game set to wrap up the trilogy.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Stefan Stefanovich Stananovich at Duel Shockers. EA
<v Speaker 2>has just confirmed the next Star Wars Jedi title will
<v Speaker 2>be the last chapter within the series. While some of
<v Speaker 2>the latest Star Wars titles were a bit, let's say, underwhelming,
<v Speaker 2>EA is still confident that their newest products will be
<v Speaker 2>well received. Barring a major surprise. The new title will
<v Speaker 2>again revolve around cal Kestis, a former Jedi pad one
<v Speaker 2>we met in Star Wars Jedi Fall in Order. Given
<v Speaker 2>the current progression of the story, our hero will likely
<v Speaker 2>continue seeking refuge for fellow Jedis or possibly launch a
<v Speaker 2>major counter offensive against the Empire. Both Fallen Order and
<v Speaker 2>Star Wars Jedi Survivor were immensely popular. Yeah, this is
<v Speaker 2>we've known for a while. I remember reporting on this show. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they're going to be They've started work on the next one.
<v Speaker 2>They're going to do the trilogy at least finish that out.
<v Speaker 2>And now EA at their big investor meeting and talking
<v Speaker 2>to investors, like it was like, you know how like
<v Speaker 2>television channels have their their TV day where they go
<v Speaker 2>to the upfronts and all that stuff and talk to advertisers.
<v Speaker 2>Seemed like EA was doing something like that with investors
<v Speaker 2>and they were saying, Hey, in this next Star Wars game,
<v Speaker 2>the Star Wars Jedi game, in a series that has
<v Speaker 2>had like forty million players or something like that, we
<v Speaker 2>are going to follow that up with the conclusion of
<v Speaker 2>the trilogy. And yeah, I think Respawn should see that through.
<v Speaker 2>That seems like a good use of their time. I
<v Speaker 2>think that's a pretty good franchise. What do you think?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>I agree As someone who has completely fallen off with
<v Speaker 3>Star Wars in general, I do actually really enjoy Stllars
<v Speaker 3>Jedi games because they are I don't know, well made,
<v Speaker 3>They're fun. I enjoy Calistus as a protagonist.
<v Speaker 1>Like I was won way over.
<v Speaker 3>He has he has, he's done a done a good job.
<v Speaker 3>But no, Also those games sold pretty well, so yeah, good.
<v Speaker 2>The EA is sort of relaunched Survivor in the last
<v Speaker 2>week or so with by putting on the last Yes
<v Speaker 2>four Xbox one.
<v Speaker 1>It's going to be on that VCR.
<v Speaker 2>And then if you run those last gen games on
<v Speaker 2>the new consoles, you actually get sixty frames per second.
<v Speaker 2>So a lot of people are like, and it's all
<v Speaker 2>on the disc, which was not like you need to
<v Speaker 2>patch the disc version of of Survivor if you get
<v Speaker 2>it for PS five or Xbox Series X, and so
<v Speaker 2>people were like, hey, if you want to have the
<v Speaker 2>whole game on the on the disc and run at
<v Speaker 2>sixty frames per second now at a much reduced image quality,
<v Speaker 2>this is like maybe a way to play the game.
<v Speaker 1>And I'm like, well, I'm not that desperate, but I do.
<v Speaker 1>It's cool.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, that's a really cool move.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's cool.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm glad it worked that way. But I do
<v Speaker 2>hope that this all these improvements mean the game runs
<v Speaker 2>better on like the Ally or the Steam Decks, then
<v Speaker 2>I will actually get this game finally finished, which I
<v Speaker 2>never was able to do last time.
<v Speaker 3>I think I was playing on PlayStation.
<v Speaker 2>Bloodline Jake says the PC version still fucked, so of course,
<v Speaker 2>well I hope hopefully. Oh now, donkbas In Chat says, no,
<v Speaker 2>they just fixed it. So I bet right now digital
<v Speaker 2>Founderies working on a video on like, hey, this last
<v Speaker 2>gen version, because I'm super interested in it, and usually
<v Speaker 2>when I'm interested in something, and I looked at Digital
<v Speaker 2>Founderies about to publish a video about it, So hopefully
<v Speaker 2>they also check in on the PC version at that
<v Speaker 2>same time.
<v Speaker 1>And people are saying, maybe it's just less bad.
<v Speaker 2>We'll see that was a bad version, which is the
<v Speaker 2>real reason I stopped playing, because they just wasn't easy
<v Speaker 2>to enjoy. Uha confirms more details on the SIMS movie.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. For a
<v Speaker 2>while now, we've known that that a SIMS movie is
<v Speaker 2>going ahead with Amazon MGM, but yesterday e A dropped
<v Speaker 2>a whole bunch of information on the SIMS future Sims Yeah, yes,
<v Speaker 2>and of course that includes the movie and a blog post.
<v Speaker 2>E A confirms that a film is indeed in the
<v Speaker 2>works at Amazon MGM. We're not sure what stage the
<v Speaker 2>production is in, but Kate Herron is set to direct
<v Speaker 2>and co write with Brian Briany Redman, and Margot Robi
<v Speaker 2>is involved as suspected, as her company Lucky Chap will
<v Speaker 2>be producing alongside Vertigo Entertainment. So you know, she's got
<v Speaker 2>a string of really popular hit movies going back to
<v Speaker 2>that that It Tanya movie that she's produced and done
<v Speaker 2>really good work on. So yeah, I bet this section
<v Speaker 2>was the name of that actress, Margo Roby, Margot.
<v Speaker 1>Robbie, Robbie, Robbie Robbie.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, the Margo threw me off is a Margo, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Margo Robbie. Yes, Yeah. I bet this movie actually does
<v Speaker 2>come through. With all of video game movies they don't.
<v Speaker 2>I bet this happens.
<v Speaker 3>But the thing that I'm maybe maybe I you know,
<v Speaker 3>I'm not that creative. Maybe, but like, realistically, it's gonna
<v Speaker 3>be very similar to Bobby, isn't it. It's because it's
<v Speaker 3>gonna be very easily could be a sim who doesn't
<v Speaker 3>realize they're being controlled, and then one day, right hang on, right,
<v Speaker 3>sim living their everyday life, don't realize they're being controlled.
<v Speaker 3>Everything seems fine and okay, but then one day a
<v Speaker 3>neighbor goes into the pool and the pool ladder randomly vanishes,
<v Speaker 3>and then the neighbor dies, and then they realize wait,
<v Speaker 3>something's not right and start seeing glitches in the matrix.
<v Speaker 5>And then one day they look in the mirror and bam,
<v Speaker 5>plumbob above the head. And then the same is like, oh,
<v Speaker 5>but what if I die? Do you ever think about dying?
<v Speaker 5>And the same as Margot Robbie, and yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I want to watch this though that sounds fantastic, honestly,
<v Speaker 2>like them trying to figure out like how the latter
<v Speaker 2>could have possibly disappeared.
<v Speaker 1>That could just be the whole movie. I got it.
<v Speaker 3>But then I really really hope because there is so
<v Speaker 3>much weird simshit you could get into, not even just
<v Speaker 3>including the storylines and stuff, but they are really random
<v Speaker 3>spinoffs like SIMS Medieval, my SIMS, SIMS Online.
<v Speaker 1>Okay that the Game of the Year winner online Game
<v Speaker 1>of the Year.
<v Speaker 3>Oh god, yeah, I uh Margo.
<v Speaker 2>Good ideas well, Hey, there's more SIMS stuff happening. The
<v Speaker 2>SIMS five is apparently not actually in the works. Instead
<v Speaker 2>that project Renee that is the follow up in some
<v Speaker 2>ways at EA is a SIMS multiplayer games from Alex
<v Speaker 2>Hopley at Game Reactor.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe it's Hopeley.
<v Speaker 2>For years now, people have believed EA was working on
<v Speaker 2>the SIMS five. The SIMS four is a decade old,
<v Speaker 2>after all, and while millions of people love the franchise,
<v Speaker 2>they're often looking for something new. However, as EA confirmed
<v Speaker 2>following a recent presentation, the SIMS five is not in
<v Speaker 2>the cards. The franchise general manager and EA Vice president
<v Speaker 2>Kate Gorman told Variety why the SIMS five won't be coming.
<v Speaker 2>The way to think about it is historically the SIMS
<v Speaker 2>franchise started with SIMS one, than SIMS two, three and four.
<v Speaker 2>Oh is that how it happened, and they were seen
<v Speaker 2>as replacements for the previous products. Gorman said, what we're
<v Speaker 2>really working with our community on is a new era
<v Speaker 2>of the SIMS. We are not going to be working
<v Speaker 2>on replacements of previous projects. We're only going to be
<v Speaker 2>adding to our universe. Gorman clarified, saying it's not SIMS
<v Speaker 2>five as a replacement for SIMS four. That doesn't but
<v Speaker 2>that and then this is no longer quote. That doesn't
<v Speaker 2>mean we won't see additions to the SIM franchise. Of course,
<v Speaker 2>expansions for the SIM four will keep coming, and there's
<v Speaker 2>a multiplayer game in the works two and hopefully we'll
<v Speaker 2>hear more soon about the exclusive of the elusive Project Renee. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I mean this does seem like maybe the right move
<v Speaker 2>in some ways. But do you think that, like the
<v Speaker 2>SIMS could use a major refresh with the SIMS five
<v Speaker 2>that replaces things or what do you want from the series.
<v Speaker 3>My main issue with the SIMS four as it currently
<v Speaker 3>stands is, and I'm pretty sure every single SIMS four
<v Speaker 3>player would agree with me, is the sheer amount of
<v Speaker 3>content that is paywalled by stuff packs, expansion packs, kits whatever.
<v Speaker 3>It's too much. So the game has also just got
<v Speaker 3>over year ago, maybe two years ago, went to free
<v Speaker 3>to play. I can definitely see creep of encouraging people
<v Speaker 3>to buy that, and obviously that makes a bunch of sense, Like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>Don Chiedel says, is there a SIMS plus subscription? That
<v Speaker 3>to me seems like the next thing that they would
<v Speaker 3>implement where they have so much of And the thing
<v Speaker 3>is is that gameplay changes dramatically depending on your expansion pack.
<v Speaker 3>Also in terms of modding or downloading custom content frequently
<v Speaker 3>they require you to have specific things or specific packs installed.
<v Speaker 3>Straight up, you just can't download the thing from the
<v Speaker 3>gallery and it just like updates it with something that
<v Speaker 3>you already have, and it doesn't you know, like you
<v Speaker 3>find a really perfect house, you're like, damn, I want
<v Speaker 3>that in my game, and then it's like, oh, I'm sorry,
<v Speaker 3>I don't have the laundry room kit stuff, so I
<v Speaker 3>can't have this anyway. So don Cheatle said, is there
<v Speaker 3>a SIMS Plus subscription that sounds like something that will
<v Speaker 3>be implemented? To me, it makes all the sense in
<v Speaker 3>the world. You pay ten bucks a month, you get
<v Speaker 3>access to all of the content and all the SIMS packs.
<v Speaker 3>There you go. In terms of what I want from
<v Speaker 3>the future of the SIMS, I'm really not interested in
<v Speaker 3>multiplayer at all.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I was wondering, like I saw in chat LEXI
<v Speaker 2>said what I was kind of thinking, where it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>we have the three S is gonna be a new
<v Speaker 2>pillar next to the Game Boy Advance and we're still
<v Speaker 2>gonna have the Game Boy going forward. I feel like
<v Speaker 2>that's maybe what they're saying here a little bit where
<v Speaker 2>it's like, yeah, the project Orne isn't SIMS five.
<v Speaker 1>We're not gonna be a replaced in the SIMS four.
<v Speaker 2>But let's say the SIMS is five thing, this Projectorna
<v Speaker 2>takes off and really is huge and it is a
<v Speaker 2>much more modern experience and has the things that like
<v Speaker 2>fans maybe have been didn't even know they wanted. And
<v Speaker 2>I'm starting to think that because that I can't remember
<v Speaker 2>the name of it, but that SIMS like game that
<v Speaker 2>was announced at Opening Night Live that had the very
<v Speaker 2>realistic character models that people were able to use. The
<v Speaker 2>they played the demo and they were able to mess
<v Speaker 2>around with it, yeah, zoy, Yes, And people were able
<v Speaker 2>to mess around with that, and they like immediately, like
<v Speaker 2>in five minutes, they're making Billie eilition and all these people.
<v Speaker 1>It was just like super realistic and.
<v Speaker 2>I think appealing looking, and there's going to be competitors
<v Speaker 2>like that now and SIMS four is kind of maybe
<v Speaker 2>old fashioned to this point, I don't.
<v Speaker 3>Know, Yeah, I mean the SIMS form. Yeah. The problem
<v Speaker 3>they would get with completely rebooting and doing a SIMS five.
<v Speaker 3>One of the many problems they would have is the
<v Speaker 3>reset problem. Because the SIMS four when it launched in yeah,
<v Speaker 3>ten ten years ago was pretty featureless, like it didn't
<v Speaker 3>have certain things like there was a little life stages
<v Speaker 3>that were missing, Like I don't think there were toddlers,
<v Speaker 3>there wasn't pools or something like. There was a lot
<v Speaker 3>of key sim stuff that was missing. People like it
<v Speaker 3>was not a good launch for them, but over years,
<v Speaker 3>like it has become such a stable cash cow, like
<v Speaker 3>and that is because of the constant improvements to base
<v Speaker 3>game that the SIMS team has made. But it's only
<v Speaker 3>they are only allowed to do that allowed it's because
<v Speaker 3>expansion packs make so much money in terms of Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>so going at this point from a game that they
<v Speaker 3>have kept alive for ten years, oh injoy, Oh I
<v Speaker 3>haven't played it yet. That feels something like kind of
<v Speaker 3>weird about inzoy, we just saw Life by You, which
<v Speaker 3>is by Humble, like not the company Rod or Ron
<v Speaker 3>Rod Humble who used to be the exect producer of
<v Speaker 3>the SIMS too. He was making a SIMS competitor with Paradox.
<v Speaker 3>And if you look at that game, like damn okay,
<v Speaker 3>I mean that's just the SIMS shut down, like delayed
<v Speaker 3>multiple times, shut down completely before it even went into beta,
<v Speaker 3>like an open beta. So it's like it's weird that
<v Speaker 3>there aren't really as many competitors as you would think.
<v Speaker 2>I think the reason I think enzoy might be different
<v Speaker 2>is wife Fo's. We are in an era where if
<v Speaker 2>you do that game, but with wife Fos it can
<v Speaker 2>become huge and I think people will be able to.
<v Speaker 1>Make their wife wos.
<v Speaker 3>You got to see what people can do in the sims.
<v Speaker 1>But I think that right now.
<v Speaker 2>I know people do do that in the sims, but
<v Speaker 2>like to present the game as here because like I
<v Speaker 2>could do that in like Breath of the Wild. But
<v Speaker 2>there's a reason people play against an impact because that
<v Speaker 2>is the white.
<v Speaker 1>Food Breath of the Wild to a lot of people. Uh.
<v Speaker 2>And but I can go hack that into the Breath
<v Speaker 2>of the Wife Fu. I can go hack that into
<v Speaker 2>Breath of the Wild if I really wanted to, And
<v Speaker 2>people can definitely mod that, a lot of people mod.
<v Speaker 2>But I think there's something about just being the game
<v Speaker 2>that is like, no, this is the one with life
<v Speaker 2>foos and it's got all the other stuff you want.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know that just the market seems ripe for
<v Speaker 2>that at the moment.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't know. I'm just really interested to see
<v Speaker 3>what they do with it. It's like I've been a
<v Speaker 3>SIMS player for twenty five years.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that means I probably haven't played the SIMS in
<v Speaker 2>like twenty ish years. Plus I should need I need
<v Speaker 2>to play it again. I want to play it real bad.
<v Speaker 3>You know what they should do, just remake the SIMS two.
<v Speaker 3>The SIMS two was the best one. Like, if you
<v Speaker 3>go back now, there's people on TikTok who do comparisons
<v Speaker 3>of SIMS two animations versus the same thing happening in
<v Speaker 3>SIMS four. There's more detailed animations in SIMS two. There's more. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>SIMS two was incredible.
<v Speaker 1>A far cry to of the SIMS. Yeah. That makes
<v Speaker 1>a lot of sense to me, and so sentence that
<v Speaker 1>people say all the time. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo is looking to add Super Nintendo Entertainment System mouse
<v Speaker 2>support to Switch Online games. It is claimed this is
<v Speaker 2>sub Jordan Miller I FUGC. Nintendo is looking to explore
<v Speaker 2>ways to support the Super Nintendo mouse games on Nintendo
<v Speaker 2>Switch Online. That's according to evans found in the services
<v Speaker 2>back end by Reliable Data. Minor Luigi Blood, which is
<v Speaker 2>an incredible name according to the user, Switch Online's Supernintendo Emulator,
<v Speaker 2>which is used for its library of Super Nintendo games
<v Speaker 2>for Switch Online subscribers has secretly contained Super Nintendo mouse
<v Speaker 2>support since launch. However, what's notable is that there's now
<v Speaker 2>there's now apparent evidence that it was recently significantly updated
<v Speaker 2>in the emulator code. In today's Supernintendo Nintendo Switch Online update,
<v Speaker 2>Luigi Blood found evidence excuse me of a major rework
<v Speaker 2>to the Supernintendo mouse support, including support for both controller ports,
<v Speaker 2>the ability to replace inputs of Supernintendo mouse devices, and
<v Speaker 2>a different behavior mode. It's speculated that the mention of
<v Speaker 2>Super Nintendo mouse behavior configuration could mean that Nintendo's looking
<v Speaker 2>in two ways to support the Super Nintendo mouse in different,
<v Speaker 2>possibly more accessible ways than using a USB mouse. Only
<v Speaker 2>two games were released for Super Nintendo exclusively for using
<v Speaker 2>its mouse accessory, Mario Paint and Mario and Warrio. A
<v Speaker 2>third Sound Fantasy was completed but never released.
<v Speaker 1>I hope they do this.
<v Speaker 2>I really like Mario Paint, and I think that would
<v Speaker 2>be a cool thing to pop onto Nintendo Switch Online.
<v Speaker 2>And then I don't know if like plugging in a
<v Speaker 2>mouse isn't necessarily gonna be the way that I'm gonna
<v Speaker 2>want to play it, but what if I could use
<v Speaker 2>the touchscreen or even just like the pointer controls of
<v Speaker 2>a joy Con. That seems like that should work, and
<v Speaker 2>you would need to sort of emulate that in the
<v Speaker 2>back end.
<v Speaker 1>And maybe that's what this.
<v Speaker 2>Is gesturing towards any love for Mario Paint on your
<v Speaker 2>side of the pond when you were a kid.
<v Speaker 3>No, I wasn't a Nintendo kid when I grew up.
<v Speaker 3>That feels weird.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's well doing. Yeah, I mean.
<v Speaker 3>Only two games are released using its mouse accessory.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it might have like a doing the well Mario
<v Speaker 2>Paint is like kind of a little bit of a
<v Speaker 2>nostalgic institution. It's got its place now where people do
<v Speaker 2>think very finely of it. Like you know, Mario Maker
<v Speaker 2>made a million references to Mario Paint. H It's it's
<v Speaker 2>definitely something that people would want to see return cult classics.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe it's kind of even maybe a little bit of
<v Speaker 2>a step above cult classic, but definitely at least the
<v Speaker 2>cult classics. So and also they are kind of running
<v Speaker 2>out of things to put on Switch Online that are
<v Speaker 2>just very easy and obvious because they don't seem to
<v Speaker 2>be paying out a lot of money to third parties.
<v Speaker 2>To let them put their games on there, and that
<v Speaker 2>means it's it's j Jellico and Majesco every every time,
<v Speaker 2>and that's starting to open the jellicals out there. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>well they're the Jellical game cats.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, if this is it's probably not too much
<v Speaker 1>work because a lot of emulators.
<v Speaker 2>Do have ways of of of mimicking the Super Nintendo mouse,
<v Speaker 2>so they probably just looked around like, let's just do this,
<v Speaker 2>get it done. They also probably have a dedicated technology
<v Speaker 2>team I think it is Nintendo European Research and Development NERD.
<v Speaker 1>That actually does a lot of the stuff.
<v Speaker 2>So maybe they're just like, we're coming into work every
<v Speaker 2>day anyhow, we did this work, let's just actually put
<v Speaker 2>it in there and release this thing. So that would
<v Speaker 2>be cool, all right. Finally, well the last two stories
<v Speaker 2>very quick. Nintendo added four new Super Nintendo games to
<v Speaker 2>switch online Battle Toads, Double Dragon, Big Run, Race Across
<v Speaker 2>the Oh yeah that's the description. Big Run, which was
<v Speaker 2>a racing game I think was only released in Japan.
<v Speaker 2>Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, a falling block style puzzler, and
<v Speaker 2>kun Yo kun No Dodgeball dio xenon Shuga, which is
<v Speaker 2>a Super Dodgeball sequel for the Super Nintendo. I believe,
<v Speaker 2>yeah cool. I like Battle Toads Double Dragon quite a bit.
<v Speaker 2>That's it's a good fun game, and then.
<v Speaker 1>Freedom wor Yeah, Battle Toads is it's a weird one. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I me and might talk about like maybe talked about
<v Speaker 2>Battle Totes and especially Double Dragon, like, oh, those that
<v Speaker 2>was were a big deal when we were kids, and
<v Speaker 2>now Double Dragon just couldn't be any smaller.
<v Speaker 3>It feels like, unless you're singing the Wii Shop Wednesdays.
<v Speaker 1>It's very important for that.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, Freedom War's remaster is coming to PC, switch
<v Speaker 2>and PlayStation in January.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Jordan Miller. If you GC the.
<v Speaker 2>PlayStation Vida, Yeah, Midler's back at I did type his
<v Speaker 2>name is Midlear.
<v Speaker 1>Earlier, and I thought that was pretty funny.
<v Speaker 2>The PlayStation Vita cult hit is being remastered and will
<v Speaker 2>be released on January tenth for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation five, PlayStation.
<v Speaker 1>Four, m PC.
<v Speaker 2>The remastered version of the game will include four K resolution,
<v Speaker 2>upgraded textures, and sixty frames per second on PC and
<v Speaker 2>PlayStation systems. According to the press release, this was a
<v Speaker 2>Vita cult hit, and I think it plays like Monster
<v Speaker 2>Hunter is my understanding, and people were pretty excited.
<v Speaker 3>So this one was young. Michael Hyam had the exclusive
<v Speaker 3>on this one for IGN. The wanted to get of him.
<v Speaker 1>Pops because yes, Michael Hillam a good boy.
<v Speaker 3>Good boy he is. Uh yeah, it was very excited
<v Speaker 3>to get to play that. Yeah. I never played I
<v Speaker 3>never played Freedom Mos. But you know, Vita means life.
<v Speaker 1>Apparently it does. Apparently it still means life somehow. Uh.
<v Speaker 2>This is the Freedom War's trailer where someone's getting arrested
<v Speaker 2>and sentenced sentence in prison one million.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, this looks pretty good.
<v Speaker 2>I could see why they are bringing it back because
<v Speaker 2>it's it was probably relatively easy to upgrade from the
<v Speaker 2>Vita and make it look like a modern release that
<v Speaker 2>would stand next to anything else coming out.
<v Speaker 1>Uh. Okay, let's see here. I have a poll question.
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna fresh this, make sure it's here. Uh did
<v Speaker 1>we actually this? This is this the question? Minister? Did
<v Speaker 1>you ever play the original flat Oh from Monday? That's right?
<v Speaker 2>Okay, yes, did you ever play the original Flappy Bird?
<v Speaker 2>Thirty percent said no, sixty five percent said yes. U
<v Speaker 2>oh yeah, yeah it really was that you played Flatty Bird?
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, I liked it a lot. I had a
<v Speaker 2>good time with it just because I was I would
<v Speaker 2>really get into any sort of leaderboard chasing, and that
<v Speaker 2>game had like, oh I got sixty five, can you
<v Speaker 2>beat that? And then finally like I dialed it in
<v Speaker 2>and was able to get like a couple hundred in it.
<v Speaker 1>Eventually.
<v Speaker 3>My my roommate was at the time, because it was
<v Speaker 3>at UNI my roommate or like where we living in London.
<v Speaker 3>At that point, I forget. He was an absolute like
<v Speaker 3>menace at this game, Like he was so so good
<v Speaker 3>he would miss bus stops because he was so locked in.
<v Speaker 1>You got to walk in.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I was never I was never as good at risk.
<v Speaker 2>Well, yeah, it's it's a game where it's like, uh,
<v Speaker 2>it's just one skill and you got to really figure
<v Speaker 2>it out. But what you do you have to hone
<v Speaker 2>it and then once you do, you can kind of
<v Speaker 2>make it go for quite a long time. Uh, okay,
<v Speaker 2>new pole question, we'll get to that in a second.
<v Speaker 2>Before we do that, Lucy James, why don't you tell
<v Speaker 2>people where they can find you on the internet?
<v Speaker 1>What we what you have going on? Things like that.
<v Speaker 3>You can find me at Lucy Jane Games However, there
<v Speaker 3>was a new episode of Star Players up on game Spot.
<v Speaker 3>I got to interview Z the DJ, who was so nice.
<v Speaker 3>He was so lovely and also a big fan of
<v Speaker 3>Feeder the band, which I'm also a big fan of,
<v Speaker 3>and so that was really nice. But not related to
<v Speaker 3>video games, but I did get to play DJ Hero
<v Speaker 3>with him. Turns out it's not very accurate spoiler for
<v Speaker 3>the video, but it's a fun video. And also I
<v Speaker 3>feel very bad because I called because he says like
<v Speaker 3>he used to play Widow and treesa and I was like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>so you're annoying. I was like thousand plus hours another
<v Speaker 3>which I was like, oh, you're that guy.
<v Speaker 1>You're that kind of player.
<v Speaker 3>Uh huh. But no, it was a very very fun
<v Speaker 3>shoot and that's up on games for Youtubeianel right now.
<v Speaker 3>Other than that, there is a Jef Jeff's from last week.
<v Speaker 3>I can't talk about the other videos that I've made
<v Speaker 3>because they're a margo for a little bit. But then yeah,
<v Speaker 3>that's it.
<v Speaker 1>Go watch stop plays yep I real quick.
<v Speaker 2>I'll have an embargo video going up at nine am
<v Speaker 2>Eastern tomorrow, six am Pacific. Little travelogue, Mini travelogue. Everybody
<v Speaker 2>tune for that'll be a good time.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, let's hear new poll question.
<v Speaker 2>Uh oh, it was also im supposed to say blight
<v Speaker 2>Club at twelve pm Pacific time three pm Eastern.
<v Speaker 1>And also Jin I think said Hi. Maybe this is
<v Speaker 1>showing Hi, guys appreciate it. Uh new pole question.
<v Speaker 2>Are you happy with the alleged leaked Nintendo switch to
<v Speaker 2>renders very happy?
<v Speaker 1>Happy? Me unhappy and very unhappy? Those are your options.
<v Speaker 2>Just kind of want to engage people because I'm like,
<v Speaker 2>I'm look at us, I'm not kind of like me,
<v Speaker 2>and that's that's not gonna matter when I'm holding it
<v Speaker 2>and actually playing it. But anytime like that, four stops
<v Speaker 2>the lessons is a real thing. You want to feel
<v Speaker 2>the reasons to upgrade, which is why you know, when
<v Speaker 2>the PlayStation five has a different than the PlayStation four,
<v Speaker 2>it's like, oh it's something new and now I'm like, man,
<v Speaker 2>I kind of wish it just worked like the PlayStation
<v Speaker 2>four that was better. But yeah, we'll get the results
<v Speaker 2>of this full on Game mess Mornings here on Giant
<v Speaker 2>Bomb tomorrow for the new episode speaking a Giant Bomb,
<v Speaker 2>Like I said, Blake Club coming up in a little bit.
<v Speaker 2>If there's anything else happening today, we'll let you know,
<v Speaker 2>but we're gonna.
<v Speaker 1>Fit some stuff in tomorrow as well. Definitely look out
<v Speaker 1>for voicemail.
<v Speaker 2>Dunk truck coming back Friday, will have a bunch of
<v Speaker 2>games on upf It's gonna be a good week, everybody,
<v Speaker 2>all right, Lucy James, thank you so much for speaking
<v Speaker 2>with me about video games today.
<v Speaker 1>I really appreciate it. Thanks.
<v Speaker 3>We'll see you in a couple of weeks.
<v Speaker 2>Absolutely, Thank you everybody for watching, Thank you for listening.
<v Speaker 2>Until next time, have a good one, everybody, take care
<v Speaker 2>of yourself.
<v Speaker 1>Goodbye.
