[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to New York City, 2026. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the New York Irish show and we have several surprises in this podcast because well first of all I have a couple of friends so I'm starting with you soon. [SPEAKER_01]: God was great to see you there on Andre. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so United quite nice walk around I thought in Detroit. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was like we should really keep doing this, right? [SPEAKER_01]: doing it again. [SPEAKER_01]: And then later in the show our friends Steven Elmar from Chuck King is going to join us as well. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is exciting because I haven't seen Steven in some some time. [SPEAKER_01]: But we're starting here at the Hyundai booth. [SPEAKER_01]: We want to show you the entire floor basically of the show tell you the best and maybe not so best via calls and introductions here. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think it's a lot of interesting stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: And [SPEAKER_01]: Sam, I did not expect this. [SPEAKER_01]: What is this? [SPEAKER_02]: This is the Hyundai Boulder concept. [SPEAKER_02]: So for the last couple of weeks, Hyundai's been teasing that they were going to show something really new here at the Auto Show. [SPEAKER_02]: And here it is, then why? [SPEAKER_02]: And this is what they brought. [SPEAKER_02]: And I was at dinner last night with some other bunch of folks who were talking about what is Hyundai going to show. [SPEAKER_02]: And basically it came down to, I'm going to be an off-road SUV, kind of like the crater concept they showed last year. [SPEAKER_02]: or a pickup truck. [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it turns out, they actually, the Jose Munoz, the CEO, did mention the pickup truck before they lifted the lid on this side. [SPEAKER_01]: This thought it was a truck for sure when they mentioned it. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And they, you know, so, I mean, they are going to build a mid-sized body on frame pickup truck. [SPEAKER_02]: But that's not what they showed us today. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not ready to show us that yet. [SPEAKER_02]: This, I'm assuming, is using the same basic frame architecture as the truck. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Evan, when they build this, I think Jeep is better, they should be scared right now. [SPEAKER_01]: And also Ford should take note of it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think everybody should take note of it. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's describe it really briefly. [SPEAKER_01]: So basically this is a Ford or and it looks like the rear door on this concept is like a rear swinging. [SPEAKER_02]: A Ford or actually it looks like it can actually swing either way because the rear container is full. [SPEAKER_02]: It's on both sides. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's actually a hinge on either side on the real tailgate, basically. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it's the sides swings either to the passenger side or could swing to the driver's side. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, depending on what's working doing it for you, depending on where you're parked. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just understanding that like on a Jeep, you know, because you park it, you parallel park it on the street and the door opens to block your way to the sidewalk, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I never understood that. [SPEAKER_01]: So now this trick to solve that issue, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: By swinging both directions. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's a wide body vehicle on 37's. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of a, well, this is a concept. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's not triumphant. [SPEAKER_02]: But most likely, you know, a production version of this will come in different variations. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So this would be, you know, equivalent of a Bronco Raptor or, you know, a, you know, a, you know, a, [SPEAKER_02]: Wrangler Rubicon Axe or something like that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we'll probably see you know more mainstream models You know, maybe it's like an arrow or fenders not 37 inch tires on there. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know that will you know that'd be quite so wide But [SPEAKER_01]: Like you said, barion frame, solder, axle, we could see it on this concept if we looked down below. [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about this chassis? [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think it's kind of in-house or do you think they're partnering with somebody else? [SPEAKER_02]: No, I think they're doing this in-house. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Hyundai tends to be pretty vertically integrated. [SPEAKER_02]: They tend to do most stuff in-house, whether it's motors, or ADAS systems or anything else, they tend to do it all inside. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we have the manufacturing might. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, they're huge. [SPEAKER_02]: And one of the things that Monio's commented on in his presentation was that Hyundai is now the third largest automaker in the world behind Toyota and Volkswagen. [SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of eye-opening. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That's they've got the capability to do this and this is definitely a sign that they're moving in that direction [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly, this is, I love this front end design. [SPEAKER_02]: We were talking earlier, it's kind of reminiscent of some of the Ford Bronco concepts that they did about 20 years ago, like early 2000s, so they did a Bronco concept, in fact, it was silver very much like this one. [SPEAKER_02]: Kind of this matte silver too, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, very, you know, very blocky looking in the front. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So I think this is a cool look. [SPEAKER_02]: I like the way that the designer talked about the light, the kind of this soft pixel design, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's not completely square. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so, you know, on the EVs, on the IONX and some of the other models, you know, you've got this pixelated design, where you've got this array of small pixels. [SPEAKER_02]: Here you've got big rounded pixels. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a it's a it's a different look to it. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's not a super controversial design for a concept like the Tasman is kind of Polarizing you know some people. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's got a weird mix of elements. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but this is I mean If they even build a pickup truck on this on this base, you know even everybody you know Toyota I call my needs to take notice, you know all those guys. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm especially For Ranger and Ford Ranger. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah [SPEAKER_01]: So this is quite interesting and the good energy. [SPEAKER_01]: You're absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: So we don't have a lot of specs or anything in our screens. [SPEAKER_02]: No specs, but my guess is we'll have gas versions. [SPEAKER_02]: And it wouldn't surprise me if they've already said they're going to do E-REVs, extended range E-Vs. And so I wouldn't be surprised to see an E-REV version of this at some point. [SPEAKER_02]: And then the other thing that we can't see the interior on this concept, [SPEAKER_02]: All these problems are crazy rendering. [SPEAKER_02]: But they show some renderings are really cool, very customizable. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, being able to move stuff around on the dashboard. [SPEAKER_02]: That little pods, like little screens, that you could slide around. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, that's really neat. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's keep moving, all right. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's kind of step to the side. [SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to take your, I want to talk to Stephen with some of the pickup trucks over there. [SPEAKER_01]: But I wanted to hear you take on what's happening with a smaller kind of commercial van market. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, Ram is introducing that per master city. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they announced the per master city a few weeks ago, and, you know, they had a per master city before, which was based on a fiat van design, but it was a compact van, you know, very similar in size to the former Ford Transit Connect. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, in Europe, they make vans in multiple sizes. [SPEAKER_02]: They have compacts, they have mid-sized, and they have the big vans, like the big problem. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll like to, you know, like to want to get the big per master here. [SPEAKER_02]: The pro master, the new pro master city is actually based on their mid-sized van. [SPEAKER_02]: It's under sold under several brands, there's a Pujo partner and a couple of others. [SPEAKER_02]: And the key differentiator here, I was talking to somebody from Ram earlier. [SPEAKER_02]: that really distinguishes this one from the old Promaster City is as a cargo van, with the doors closed, you've got eight feet of cargo space between the tailgate and the back of the seats. [SPEAKER_02]: So you can put four by eight sheets of plywood in there or other very, very, eight foot long items. [SPEAKER_02]: And that was something you couldn't do in the old Promaster City. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and maybe that stopped a few people, right from purchasing it. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: But I wanted to hear your thoughts on the fact that everybody left this space, right? [SPEAKER_01]: If you look at several years back, you know, Ford, Nissan, GM, you name it. [SPEAKER_01]: Like everybody kind of walked away from a small or a compact or even midmercities mattress, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Disappeared, from Miss Market. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you know most of the service uses a lot of them? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, there's a lot of service bought a lot of mattresses. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I said in my neighborhood a little time. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So, and I was kind of scratching my head. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know why, necessarily. [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, I guess it's good that they're coming back. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's not entirely clear what I think, you know, probably the length is certainly for the smaller ones is, you know, one of the issues that had some potential customers concerned, you know, for the mid-size, you know, like the mattress, I think, you know, in the case of the mattress, you know, that one may have just been a little too expensive for the market and, you know, there weren't really, there haven't really been any other mid-size fans for a while. [SPEAKER_02]: So it'll be interesting to see how they price this one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I heard the starting price was like just around the $40,000, because that's built in Turkey. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, so that's one of the issues because tariffs won't play some part in this. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so you've got to... Yeah, and that's one of the issues that, you know, Ford and Stellantis and others had to deal with with the old smaller vans, was that they actually built them up overseas as passenger vans, which are not subject to the chicken tax. [SPEAKER_02]: And then when they got here, then they would pull out the seats, pull out the windows, put in steel panels, reconfigured it, reconfigured it, and most of them at least as cargo advance. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to be doing that with this one too, but there's a passenger version of this that they're talking about, which has just got three rolls of seats. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know what? [SPEAKER_01]: So it's coming, what I think production starts at the end of this year, at the early 27. [SPEAKER_01]: Seven. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see these. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it'll be first. [SPEAKER_01]: going to meet them there. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Not right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Not in a big way. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be surprised to see Ford perhaps bring in a version of the transit custom from which is their mid-size van in this class. [SPEAKER_02]: That's one that could come sooner rather than later. [SPEAKER_02]: GM doesn't really have anything like that. [SPEAKER_02]: And if it's overseas operations, so they're kind of left out of this market. [SPEAKER_02]: Of course, they're also left out of the full-size European style van Martin Martin. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, because it's progress. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not become became Chevrolet and now it's just continued. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's nothing at all. [SPEAKER_01]: But they have that express, my friend. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's real. [SPEAKER_02]: That's something that's almost as old as my adult children. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it came out in 96. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so it's approximately. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like one year younger than my younger child. [SPEAKER_01]: It is aging. [SPEAKER_01]: But still people like that body on frame rear will drive chassis. [SPEAKER_01]: That's some of those fans. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they sell a lot of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Mostly it's cutaways now. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So the shuttle, so yeah, they put shuttle bodies on them for airport shuttles, things like that. [SPEAKER_01]: Alright, how about this? [SPEAKER_01]: I want to meet Steven, we can talk about some ram trucks and you and I Let's keep walking over there. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and we will reconvene momentarily. [SPEAKER_01]: Steven, dude. [SPEAKER_01]: Good to see you. [SPEAKER_01]: Nice to see you too, Andre. [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen you in a few months I think. [SPEAKER_01]: It's been a little while at least. [SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted to catch up with you Kind of here from from you about what you're doing, but also I want to look at the ram truck booth with you because there's a few manga space here in New York [SPEAKER_00]: Totally and they did bring a lot of trucks out for us to see which is nice. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think people have a misconception about New York City I want to set it straight okay because they think it's a big city small streets right that nobody drives a pickup truck here right but [SPEAKER_01]: you know, I've stayed here a couple days and I've been coming here for 15 years, you see actually a few tier X is rolling around New York City. [SPEAKER_00]: For sure, and I mean, I feel like here it stands out even more because it's that big truck rolling down that small skinny street. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but you know why? [SPEAKER_01]: I was just in the [SPEAKER_00]: That is true. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's good here on a good day, but it was a rough winter here in New York City, so I think it's even worse than normal. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, because I've had a lot of snow. [SPEAKER_01]: So, what do you think should we start just... Terax is coming back, dude? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely. [SPEAKER_00]: It's awesome, man. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited to see Terax come back. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually think it's also cool to bring an SRT back with it. [SPEAKER_00]: It was such a good brand, everyone knew SRT, so the fact that they brought the truck back, brought it back with even more power, and they're calling it an SRT and resurrecting the brand behind it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a good move. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, let's be honest, what's old is new again at RAM, right? [SPEAKER_00]: They're bringing everything back that they decided it was a mistake to get rid of, and this was one of those things. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the five seven hammy was the first thing that they're brought back and the thing continues like you nailed it because I also want to look at the promester city, right? [SPEAKER_00]: That's also coming back. [SPEAKER_01]: It's also coming back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hello. [SPEAKER_01]: But there's something interesting here. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's kind of walk around, kind of set the stage for sure, because I believe this blue truck, [SPEAKER_00]: and that's a common spar-wagon, right, right, which is also so exciting and this is the one thing you can't say is an old because they never had this before and we're finally getting it and I know you like me and you know we used to work together, so we've been doing this for a long time we've been complaining about this since forever, we're like cramp [SPEAKER_00]: please give us the Diesel Powerwagon. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I will say, after looking at some of the numbers, it's a little interesting, the kind of business case here, because the Diesel Powerwagon toes, and it has a big payload, which was always the issue with the Powerwagon traditionally, but did you actually know that this truck has the worst off-road numbers out of the rebel and the gas powerwagon? [SPEAKER_00]: So just from a straight off-road perspective, it's actually the worst one to buy, because it just has worse clearance. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: I love me a comments, but I'm very interested to see who buys it and whether or not that's going to kind of, you know, muddy the waters a bit. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm glad you brought this up because I had this kind of argument with case on my team. [SPEAKER_01]: And like you and I, I mean with Romans and TFL team, you know, we kind of launched TFL Afro. [SPEAKER_01]: And of course you have the truck king brand right now, you know, you and your dad are and your brother also. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: You guys are really doing a great job of truck king. [SPEAKER_01]: And I keep watching you guys and you know some of the videos you guys are doing But we've been asking for this the diesel power wagon right they gave it to us Yeah, and case doesn't love with it because he wants to use it as a built-up platform You know, he wants to send it to AEV sure I can have a V go to town on it, but not a lot of people can afford doing any of that. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so So when when you talk about the diesel power wagon [SPEAKER_01]: Like you said, it's in 20s, right? [SPEAKER_01]: So it's got a 20 inch wheel. [SPEAKER_01]: The tire profile is not very tall, right? [SPEAKER_01]: It's got a 34 inch diameter overall, which is not bad, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But nonetheless, I kind of wish there would have stepped it up even higher, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And also you're missing a witch on this one? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to know which one. [SPEAKER_00]: which was classically ram always said that's why they weren't going to do a diesel power right because they couldn't fit the winch and then finally someone said no just do it don't live without the winch right and if you really want to put an aftermarket winch on there I'm sure you could right so it's definitely do it like an AV bumper is one solution they can do for it for it [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: I think case is envisioning like this truck built up on 40s, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, doing kind of a proper build up on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: With a winch and everything like that. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think the overlanding thing, you know, power wagons, always been a popular platform. [SPEAKER_00]: But as I mentioned earlier, the gas power wagon was always neutered with payload and towing, especially payload, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Terrible payload. [SPEAKER_00]: And for an overlander payload, it's probably the most important number, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Because you want to put stuff in the bed. [SPEAKER_00]: You want to build up to it. [SPEAKER_00]: You want to add parts. [SPEAKER_00]: So this solves that problem. [SPEAKER_00]: So this should be a really solid platform. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I got in my head. [SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna buy a massive 40-foot toy hauler, haul it out into the desert with all your toys. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the truck to do that with and not have to worry at all because you've got the lockers. [SPEAKER_00]: You have all that off-road know how the four-wheel drive. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, man. [SPEAKER_01]: And the frame, you know, the frame that's, you know, factory-tested and approved and the suspension and triple lockers, like you said, you know, front, center, and rear, the real deal. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think the, [SPEAKER_01]: The payload is around 3,000 pounds, maybe a little bit higher than that. [SPEAKER_01]: And towing is like 18-5 or something like this, which is awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of what you're talking about. [SPEAKER_01]: Your dad's trailer, your fifth wheel. [SPEAKER_01]: He could tow his fifth wheel out there, out to some pretty narrowly places with this thing, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Except that bed is kind of short, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, true, yeah, you're not going to go bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well because this is a power wagon frame basically right so it's not a eight foot bed Like some of the other trucks. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like you can get still. [SPEAKER_00]: That's one of these things right now We're like we've been complaining about it for so long They finally did it. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to complain too much more and the other big thing under we need to drive it I need to get behind the wheel we gotta get it in the rocks and that's where you'll really feel the difference, right? [SPEAKER_00]: But I also remember with the tremor, when tremor came out to heavy-duty super-duty, and I drove gas and diesel back to back, I preferred the gas because the front end was a lot lighter. [SPEAKER_00]: So the only thing I'm sort of worried about here is this gonna feel big and sort of heavy, which isn't sort of great off-road. [SPEAKER_00]: But again, I reserve judgment until we drive it. [SPEAKER_00]: So make sure you come back to trucking and TFL, because I'm sure we'll be out there driving it hopefully soon. [SPEAKER_00]: We haven't heard, but hopefully soon. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't have a date yet, but I imagine it's like the summer. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm imagining in my head and also this summer. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm imagining you now will be driving the TREI I hope so man. [SPEAKER_01]: I have jumping the TREI because Rams actually been really good for that every time they bring us out to TREI XRHO events there's always a jumps Yes Before we get to some of the commercial vehicles, I also wanted to mention RHO Show a little bit because I think [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's now in the shadow of the TRX, always, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But I think when they put that high output, straight-six twin turbo, hurricane engine in this, I think in my mind, I don't want to see if you agree with disagree. [SPEAKER_01]: They kind of reset the bar a little bit, because you have the really capable, you know, wide-body, high clearance suspension and high travel suspension. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but you also have 540 horsepower, and if you look at the Ford Booth, which is, [SPEAKER_01]: over yonder we're not quite there yet yeah um they're v6 twin turbo Raptor is still about 450 horsepower right right exactly so hard so hard so significant because of that or I think when RHL was being pitches the top dog we all looked at and said oh no we know Raptor ours out there we know everyone else's top dog brands is a little higher yeah [SPEAKER_00]: Now Ram solved that problem right and now it's your own boat. [SPEAKER_00]: They have exactly have the Raptor competitor and the Raptor our competitor Yeah, and you know, we all know these brands are benchmarking, you know each other constantly So obviously that wasn't a coincidence. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure they had that planned out and actually it's funny I talked about weight with the power of egg and I felt the same thing in the already show the first time I got it and what you know What it actually feels really good handling. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a better than oh yeah, it's a spirit right [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly and that makes a significant difference. [SPEAKER_00]: So again, I'm you know, more complain about the TRX. [SPEAKER_00]: I want over 700 horsepower, but this package felt much more daily driveable. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's say like it just felt much more a good amount of power for the truck rather than a bonkers super truck, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It feels more livable. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're in New York City, all right, Joe, it was a little bit better on fuel probably. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So hey, you could launch this on the Pothole, you know, all day long. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was a [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and now I like it and ram now has such a fleshed out off-road lineup, you know, with Warlock and Rebel and the backcountry they just brought out and then all right show and TRX in their 1500 and also heavy duties Sure, good point. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's it. [SPEAKER_00]: They got the off-road trucks from bottom to top. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: I'm really curious because we don't have any news from Ford yet, but you know they're cooking something for the next generation. [SPEAKER_01]: Probably, right? [SPEAKER_01]: For sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Because they've been cooking for a while and I'm wondering what they're cooking up there because you know, 540 horsepower is now kind of the standard, right? [SPEAKER_01]: They have to meet and alter the suspension and all that stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: And of all the brands, you know Ford is going to one of them. [SPEAKER_00]: Ford, Ford won't be second in class. [SPEAKER_00]: So I predict the Raptor will have at least 541 horsepower. [SPEAKER_01]: Boo, at least. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is now Triple 7, right? [SPEAKER_01]: 777. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, which is kind of a lucky number, you know, if you're in Vegas and you're gambling. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm wondering once again, what is Ford cooking up? [SPEAKER_00]: Right, 800 at least, man. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know they have a Ford Performance kit right so where you can do a little bit more after market for the proved stuff right But it's not quite the same thing. [SPEAKER_00]: No, yeah, not straight. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not straight from the factory Right from the dealership, but not from the fact, but but one dealership is different from another dealership I'm saying sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm always a little bit wary [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, I'm doing that stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and just the, I think the purchasing process for the consumer is different too. [SPEAKER_00]: Like this is just, yeah, I wanted TRX. [SPEAKER_00]: You know what you're getting? [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas that's a different process of sitting down, picking your different packages, making sure you know what you're getting. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: What do you think about the graphics here? [SPEAKER_00]: The fact that they brought back this, we always called it the dragon's puke graphic. [SPEAKER_00]: And this used to be on the power wagon down the side. [SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean like this? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I'm not even the two times just the whole decals going down the side, you know, this part the rear The rear corners here. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not I probably would not get it personally. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just feel the same way But I like to let her it's kind of like anime mud up the side of the tree. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah [SPEAKER_01]: But I like the TRX graphic. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I would do that, but I wouldn't do, you know, you know what you need on this is real mud. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not pixelated mud. [SPEAKER_00]: Every truck looks better during man, but you've got to look at the TRX badge on the tailgate, so it's got to be the coolest badge on the truck. [SPEAKER_01]: They fix this, right? [SPEAKER_00]: They really fix that because that's pretty awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Because regular owners were doing that themselves, and now it's proper, and this is from the factory now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: The dream is doing. [SPEAKER_01]: However, well, so they painted the toe who was front and rear and did the badging in red and some of the badges, some of the other badges. [SPEAKER_01]: But, if you look at that R.E. [SPEAKER_01]: show from end and this, they're almost identical as far as headlamp. [SPEAKER_01]: Sure, you know, in the grill area. [SPEAKER_01]: So there's not a lot of different, the same problem I think with a rap to arc. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, from like, I don't know right away. [SPEAKER_01]: Like across the street. [SPEAKER_01]: You don't know, is that a R? [SPEAKER_00]: And it's even the same Raptor badge just with the R, a different company too, right? [SPEAKER_01]: So it's a kind of subtle. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm always on the fence about that. [SPEAKER_01]: If I'm spending that kind of money to get a Raptor R, which is what $115,000 US, I'm $115 in Canada. [SPEAKER_00]: $115 in Canada. [SPEAKER_01]: Crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: I would like to be known. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: But some people don't like that, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Set people on the fly-and of the radar. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I feel like this kind of decal packages. [SPEAKER_00]: If you want people to notice you, you get that on the side of your truck. [SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't, yeah, I just keep it single or too tone, and then you're good to go. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's kind of look at the little bit of commercial side. [SPEAKER_00]: Sure, let's change gears over to Van. [SPEAKER_00]: Although you've got to look at this beautiful chassis cap. [SPEAKER_00]: Right here, man. [SPEAKER_01]: Man, man. [SPEAKER_00]: Love that. [SPEAKER_00]: Love seeing a chassis cap because it just feels like the possibilities are endless, Andre. [SPEAKER_00]: You can do anything back there. [SPEAKER_00]: So much room for activities. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but so there's a chassis cap which is a crew cap. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a 55 on let me double check. [SPEAKER_01]: Is it? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a 55 on base. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's got that wide front axle. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Really nice turning radius for how big this truck is. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course it's shown in white because that's kind of a commercial thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, of course. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is what I would not recommend somebody to buy this with no bed because this will ride horribly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, totally. [SPEAKER_00]: You need some weight back there. [SPEAKER_01]: You made like a custom bed, you know what I'm saying? [SPEAKER_01]: Like a flat bed, maybe with a camper on top of it, totally. [SPEAKER_01]: Or something like that. [SPEAKER_01]: Because those look at the stack. [SPEAKER_00]: Look at the stack. [SPEAKER_00]: So many leavesprings. [SPEAKER_00]: Look at this stack. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that will knock your fillings out. [SPEAKER_01]: I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: And only still just the one helper spring, like all of those springs are active all the time, yeah? [SPEAKER_01]: This is the helper in the top right? [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And I like to mid-mount it. [SPEAKER_01]: Mish up down to fuel tank because sometimes you can get a larger volume. [SPEAKER_01]: Almost 50 gallons in some of those configurations, right, and you need that much diesel. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, diesel is going up in price. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you don't want the big tank. [SPEAKER_00]: No, but it's due for work. [SPEAKER_01]: You need to avoid the gas station for as long as possible, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But this is something else that's coming back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's check this out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, tell me about it. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually missed the event on this one. [SPEAKER_00]: I was traveling. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, tell me, tell me your thoughts. [SPEAKER_01]: So, [SPEAKER_01]: We all remember the promo to city. [SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of a small compact van and people enjoyed it You know a lot of businesses bought it But now this is way bigger right because do you remember the Mercedes mattress? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, actually Yeah in my mind. [SPEAKER_01]: It's about the same size. [SPEAKER_01]: They call it midsize, so it's the wheelbase is larger The the height is a little bit bigger, but they kept saying [SPEAKER_01]: Here's I am standing next to it. [SPEAKER_01]: They kept saying it's under seven feet even with an antenna So like all garages right now. [SPEAKER_01]: You could go inside of any garage commercial guard in the city or Even at home right you home you you house because [SPEAKER_01]: Real pro master over there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's insanely tall. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very tough. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're different roofs Yeah The power on this is a turbocharged engine. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, pretty small displacement. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, about about 2000 payload 2000 pounds of payload and 2000 pounds towing. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so this is not a towing machine [SPEAKER_00]: No, but you don't think towing really matters. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, payload is the number that this guy really cares about, because it's how much whatever I'm delivering can I deliver, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And this floor in the back, this is really important. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's 9 feet, 9 feet length. [SPEAKER_01]: And over 4 feet wide, obviously, because you have to put a 4 by 8 sheet of material in there. [SPEAKER_01]: Of course. [SPEAKER_01]: So, and also they have a passenger version with three rows. [SPEAKER_01]: but only three rows, not four rows, but some people work, kind of wondering about, but look at this, I mean, this is a humongous amount of space. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, now it is from wheel drive only, is that correct? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they know what it is, all wheel drive, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No, which is something that feels like maybe people would want and I'll be curious to see if they do come out with that. [SPEAKER_00]: Although I wonder if all wheel drive would then screw up that big long flat floor if they'd have to raise it or do something, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And that's another reason why the big pro master van is front-wheel drive, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Same deal. [SPEAKER_01]: Same deal, you want to keep that floor down [SPEAKER_01]: Some delivery services, they're walking in out of those vans all day long. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you want to low-high. [SPEAKER_01]: So you kind of want the low-high on that. [SPEAKER_01]: But I heard something else at this launch or around this promester city launch, but I thought was interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: You know how the Ford Maverick is really red hot? [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they sold the like 160,000 of them in the US. [SPEAKER_01]: Last year, somebody told me, because some of the small vans disappeared, you know, the trends of connect. [SPEAKER_01]: And mattress, all of those vans disappeared from 300 and 200. [SPEAKER_01]: The Chevy version of that Vans. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, that the Maverick kind of stepped in that space interesting and kind of that's what one of the reasons why it was so popular, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But now Ram is hoping to kind of come back into it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think it's interesting, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's obviously a pretty small pie and before it was divided a lot of different ways. [SPEAKER_00]: And then everybody got out of this market, so Ram clearly identified the possibility of going way to second. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a big pie to begin with, but if we can have the old pie, [SPEAKER_00]: And we're doing good, so and this was already being built for Europe. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the other thing too, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like they had to go clean sheet design here, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, it'll start like a 39,000 something because that price is pretty high. [SPEAKER_01]: People were hoping it's going to be much lower. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's built in Turkey. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: And so, of course, there's all kinds of tariffs and all kinds of stuff going on in the world. [SPEAKER_01]: So, but they've built building this engine and this... [SPEAKER_01]: It has a unique transmission, it's an 8th beat, but they've been building this van for other brands. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, it's the longest for years. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's not the brand new design. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, so for them, it feels like, you know, obviously there was some cost involved, but not the cost of having to develop something brand new, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So it makes a lot of sense. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'll say one other thing, Andre, it looks pretty good. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's especially when it's parked next to its brother, the promenaster, which is one of the ugliest vehicles I personally think is on the road. [SPEAKER_00]: From Master looks like a weird fish from the front end, where this thing actually looks pretty hits. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so I don't think most people in the commercial space were really care about styling, but if you do care at least this one looks a little bit better [SPEAKER_01]: But I was talking to Dave Sowers in the team at Ram also, and they didn't know the space. [SPEAKER_01]: They checked all the boxes, as far as maintenance, and the headlamps are a little bit higher. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you hit the bumper, the headlamps are not damaged. [SPEAKER_01]: They checked all the boxes, and I think they can also get a lift-up hatch. [SPEAKER_01]: So there's a barn style door, or you can also get a hatch that opens up. [SPEAKER_00]: nice. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's smart too, just depending on you what you're delivering where you're delivering it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I want a different setup, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And also of Ben Life people might appreciate this too. [SPEAKER_00]: I think so, that's where I think the all-wheel drive aspect maybe comes into play, where if you're really wanting to go Van Life and drive on the beach, you're out in the desert, you might want all road drive. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, there's not a lot of clearance on this, the road clearance on this, it's really low. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like they kind of have to almost pitch it as that, but I don't feel like that's the really [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so what else is going on with trucking? [SPEAKER_01]: Because I know you do like kind of power sports stuff as well. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, the truck reviews keep on rolling out. [SPEAKER_00]: We're excited at home right now because winters finally break against other Ontario. [SPEAKER_00]: So like our last two videos, we finally been able to get back up to our test property. [SPEAKER_00]: And actually, you know, put some payload in the back of trucks. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm excited, because April's always a great month for us because our off-road trails are just flooded. [SPEAKER_00]: That's when we get the most water, the most mug. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's coming up too. [SPEAKER_00]: Hydro line. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be up to Hydro line as soon as we can. [SPEAKER_00]: And then yeah, the power sports stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: We got TK power sports. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited. [SPEAKER_00]: Honda is just rolled out a brand new pioneer. [SPEAKER_00]: 1,000. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to go check that out. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're busy north of the border, man. [SPEAKER_00]: We got lots going on. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And you also do some watercraft, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We're so watercraft. [SPEAKER_01]: And weight runners. [SPEAKER_01]: And all that stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually bought myself in 1997, Wave Runner last year, Wave Runner 700. [SPEAKER_00]: OK. [SPEAKER_00]: you're 700, sorry which I've been loving and I've been making a bunch of videos on that and yeah man I love doing that stuff and I love trucks too but it's fun to change it up and I feel like those worlds all tie in. [SPEAKER_00]: If you own a truck there's a good chance you want an ATV side by side or PWC. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah you could tow it or put something in the bed and carry it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah man every truck looks way cooler with an ATV in the bed like that's a fact you know. [SPEAKER_01]: Or also a kayak, maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I need a motor. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I need to make noise. [SPEAKER_00]: I need to make noise. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not the motor. [SPEAKER_00]: I need a motor to drive me, you know? [SPEAKER_01]: All right, you're the bullet. [SPEAKER_01]: Really great to see you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, appreciate it, man, you, too. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned. [SPEAKER_01]: We're hoping for more events with these trucks, you know, coming up very soon. [SPEAKER_01]: Sounds good, take care, everybody. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, those are great to see Stephen, but Sam, let's continue walking by the Jeep booth here. [SPEAKER_01]: So we just left Ram, walking into Jeep, and actually this gladiator, I have unloaded from Jeep right now. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love the color, especially the wheels. [SPEAKER_02]: You guys have commented on the wheels. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: The olive drab wheels matching the body. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is the new 2026 Willy's 41 edition, basically to celebrate 1941 and kind of the heritage of the Jeep brand as well. [SPEAKER_01]: And these wheels are actually aluminum. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They look like steel, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they look like steel is like old school steel. [SPEAKER_01]: But actually, if I had the magnet handy, which, I mean, it's on my shirt right now, but it is aluminum wheel. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think that is a good job. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is kind of aging now. [SPEAKER_01]: And the unit talked about this already, [SPEAKER_01]: And now they can see the boulder. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I think we didn't really talk about much with the boulder, you know, we referenced it a little bit that Monio said they are going to be able to mid-sized pickup. [SPEAKER_02]: And if they do something like this, you know, using the styling of the boulder for mid-sized pickup truck, that could be really interesting again. [SPEAKER_01]: It's clearly deemed that this absolutely, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: or something like this. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a Mojave. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is lifted on 35s. [SPEAKER_01]: It looks bigger, it looks more proportional, it looks much better. [SPEAKER_02]: But imagine if you cut off the back of that boulder and put a bat on there. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're in the wheelbase. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a real base. [SPEAKER_02]: And you've got a drag competitor here. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think Kia would be on the map here for trucky stuff, but Kia has several debuts which we'll talk about, I'll talk about in a separate podcast for cars because they have the new celltoes, they have the EV3, but in the quarter here in the Kia booth they have something very interesting. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it is the PV-5, so they first showed these vehicles at CES a couple of years ago. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I remember. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're the camper van. [SPEAKER_01]: I remember. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's concept. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so yeah, they had one at CES, all right, Tom Seema, done up as a camper van. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: And now they've got one here that partnered with a company called Bronobility that does a lot of the wheelchair conversions. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: And so they've got a wheelchair accessible. [SPEAKER_02]: Nears that it's actually based on the PV-5. [SPEAKER_02]: So I think that the PV-5 design is a really interesting design. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a very modular vehicle. [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, the swine ability has been, you know, they've been doing these wheelchair conversions on a wide variety vehicles for a long time. [SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, it's not surprising to see them do one on this. [SPEAKER_02]: And this is an electric vehicle. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: electric platform. [SPEAKER_02]: It's all a lot of platform. [SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be used for a wide variety of applications. [SPEAKER_02]: And makes sense, you've got the ramp coming up the back there from the rear axle. [SPEAKER_02]: You can roll right up into there, lift the ramp inside. [SPEAKER_02]: I think this could be a very interesting next generation taxi cab for New York City. [SPEAKER_01]: So maybe I'm going to eat my words because when I said nobody's going to meet [SPEAKER_01]: The promise to sit in the market. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, this might meet it. [SPEAKER_01]: That's because you see actually about the same height Yeah, so they talked about it. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a similar size. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not I'm not sure how big the interior is But you know, again because it's a modular design it would be pretty easy for Kia to make a slightly longer wheel-based version or a shorter wheel-based version And you know how it's okay [SPEAKER_02]: or a chassis cap, and in fact they have shown different variants like that, they have shown a chassis cap version of the PV-5. [SPEAKER_02]: So I wouldn't be surprised to see them, especially, you know, if they're going to offer a vehicle like this and I don't know if they haven't really said if they're going to, but if they weren't all for a vehicle like this in the U.S., as a taxi, then if you're homologating in any way for the U.S. market, might as well offer other commercial applications as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, or even the pickup truck version of it, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Because they have showed some concepts with this, with a bet. [SPEAKER_01]: But there's still some hurdles, like you said, because, you know, like all the homologation, right? [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you have to have the safety done, you know, all those elements, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Crash, crash, testing, you know, I mean, I know they've been working on a lot of that stuff to make it legal for US applications. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a really interesting, it is all electric and they, obviously, the promise of city is all, not even a hybrid, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but when you consider the way most of these types of vehicles are being used, you know, as a taxi cab, in the big city. [SPEAKER_02]: And a city, it's going fairly low speeds, you know, so I don't know, I don't have an issue. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, if you had 150 miles of range and we know that Hyundai Kia EV platform's [SPEAKER_02]: you know, if you've got, you know, if you can charge this thing up in 20 minutes, be back on the road again, you know, driver stops to have a lunch break, charges it up, you know, it's pretty cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just want to take another close look because we love the Roman and I did the video about that camper van conversion that I did on this platform, and it was very innovative, right? [SPEAKER_01]: backwards facing seats, different configurations on the inside, and this is a little bit more traditional, so all the seats are pointing forward, so it's a little bit more traditional, but there's still, look at this room, I mean, there's a ton of space in there. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I think it's the kind of thing that fans of the old VW Microbus campers, and also ID bus, it plays in the same area, this is the kind of thing that they [SPEAKER_02]: yeah and also for many different use cases not just you know commercial taxis service but it's also cool how they did not raise the vehicle to accommodate the uh... right you know because you've got independent rear suspension in there uh... and the ramp you know comes right up uh... between the rear wheels and it seems to be it looks seamless right just just kind of yeah so you roll right up clamped in lifts up the ramp folds up into place [SPEAKER_01]: Very nice. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, well let's kind of snap our fingers and let's transfer over to general motors and Chevrolet. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, that's good. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so we're walking through this luxury section of the other show. [SPEAKER_01]: You can see Bentley's, Rolls Royce's, I mean A-Nobber, Lotus, and even more high-end vehicles like Conexag and Porsche and the rest. [SPEAKER_01]: I have a question for you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, why hasn't Bentley and Rolls Royce built a pickup truck? [SPEAKER_01]: Because they build SUVs, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And pickup trucks are status symbols also. [SPEAKER_01]: We saw the TRX, right? [SPEAKER_01]: We saw the Raptor R. Here, here's a question for you. [SPEAKER_01]: Bentley pickup truck. [SPEAKER_02]: Would you pay $400,000 for a Bentley pickup truck? [SPEAKER_02]: It depends. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's think about who buys the luxury pickup trucks like the big, you know, the high-end platinum and, you know, King Ranch pickup trucks. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say businessmen, because it's also a business. [SPEAKER_01]: It could be a tax help for a lot of businesses. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They want to be comfortable. [SPEAKER_01]: They want to be seen. [SPEAKER_01]: Like if you want a company or something like that. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: So you do that. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: You buy your Bentley pickup trucker. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: You roll up to a job site. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: customer looks at your your Bentley and Rolls Royce says why am I paying you so much okay no wrong in the street wrong in the street let's say you've rolled up to your five-star Michelin restaurant [SPEAKER_01]: right and start a symbol okay you know maybe you're on the chain of restaurants anyway yeah so it's only a matter of time before before one of them does okay so Mercedes kind of toys with that idea with the G wagon custom G wagon right so why toy with it just just do it yeah just just build a lot of them [SPEAKER_01]: So General Motors has a humongous space here. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're celebrating also like many other brands, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Tolantes is doing this. [SPEAKER_01]: GM is doing this. [SPEAKER_01]: They're celebrating 250 years of United States with some special additions, special additions. [SPEAKER_01]: So they have 250 additions here. [SPEAKER_01]: And the heavy duty, they also have electric. [SPEAKER_01]: They'll come to 50 Silverado ED. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And then there's also the light duty truck. [SPEAKER_01]: But there's not a lot of news right now in this space. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's basically nothing new from GM in the truck space at the moment. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, later this year we do expect to see a bunch of news. [SPEAKER_02]: Huge news. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you guys have done some stories on the 6th gen. [SPEAKER_02]: We saw the Corvette Grantsport last week, which is the first application of that next generation of the small block. [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to see that coming into the trucks. [SPEAKER_02]: These trucks are due for a redesign. [SPEAKER_02]: We expect to see that in the second half of the year. [SPEAKER_02]: There is a bunch of news coming. [SPEAKER_02]: It's not quite ready yet. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of rumors about the way to which there's the Grantsport over there. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, maybe we could take a sneak a little peek at it because there's a lot of news. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the ZR2 truck, I expect that the same engine to be in something like that, right? [SPEAKER_01]: The ZR2 off-roader with a big six-seven or six-sex, you know, there's different rumors flowing in the right. [SPEAKER_01]: There's also a lot of rumors of the new Durumax diesel engines, so we'll just have to wait and see exactly what General Motors does. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but this Corvette is hot. [SPEAKER_01]: I love this color. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a fantastic hook with the red stripes. [SPEAKER_01]: If someone was here, it would be hard to pull it more weight from this, I think. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and the previous generation, especially the C6, I love driving the supercharged LS9 in the C6 CR1. [SPEAKER_02]: But the Grand Sport was really the one that's kind of the sweet spot in terms of performance and price, and it looks like that's going to be the case with this new one as well. [SPEAKER_01]: You know where I am with this. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, of course I love pickup trucks. [SPEAKER_01]: This is what I do every day and big SUVs But whenever I get in a sports car, of course I get excited, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But what scares me sometimes is because I'm not a professional driver, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I get in the car. [SPEAKER_01]: It has over 500 horsepower and I do something dumb and it scares me [SPEAKER_01]: But the car like the Grand Sport is a little bit more balanced in the opinion, right? [SPEAKER_01]: It's not, it doesn't have 1250 horsepower. [SPEAKER_02]: Right, you have five, the base Grand Sport, you have 535 horsepower. [SPEAKER_02]: That's my Grand Sport X, you got 720. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's, that'll scare me. [SPEAKER_02]: But that's all we'll drive on. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so it's still the same 535 horsepower being and then another 100 and some horsepower from the front axle, from an electric motor, you know, and the next thing about that is, you know, if you actually like your neighbors and you know, you have to leave early somewhere, you can start up in stealth mode or if you're coming home late, so you don't have to rumble through the neighborhood. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you heard the near rumor about the hybrid next-gen pickup trucks? [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's kind of missing from the General Motors portfolio. [SPEAKER_01]: They, you know, right now. [SPEAKER_02]: Back in 2024, so they start talking about bringing the hybrid back to their U.S. lineup. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they have hybrid overseas. [SPEAKER_02]: They haven't really done anything overseas though that would be suitable for the pickup trucks. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: And they've been very quiet about it recently. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure where they're at right now, exactly what their plan is with the hybrid trucks. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey Cole, let's take a look at this Bronco RTR for a second because this is where the bolder kind of is aiming, this is kind of a little bit more customized, RTR is a separate company, but now we discuss in our previous podcasts as well for this kind of folding it into their factory a little bit more. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so RTR has been doing RTR versions of some of the Ford vehicles for a while now in their facilities. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so they buy them pre-title up fit them with their equipment and send them to the dealers for delivery to customers. [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, that's an expensive process. [SPEAKER_02]: And so what RTR has done now with this, there's still offering those as a kind of a higher end version and they're more customizable. [SPEAKER_02]: These are being built directly in the Ford factory. [SPEAKER_02]: So RTR has done some of the design work on them and they'll be available directly from the factory. [SPEAKER_02]: And this is the first time they showed the interior. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they showed us the RTR a couple of months ago. [SPEAKER_02]: But we didn't get to see the interior, so now you can see those lime-dream-yellow flourishes on the dashboard, on the set of console and the seat belts and everything else. [SPEAKER_01]: And then of course they do pretty capable suspension, so this is not a wide-body Bronco. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it's based on the Sasquatch. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: Once again, the Bronco Raptors just too wide, a little bit ungainly. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's 10 inches wider than a standard [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you tried to park it in the city, I mean, this would be a little bit sketchy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is a bit more manageable. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if they know it's pricing yet. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you heard of the pricing? [SPEAKER_02]: I have not heard anything on pricing yet. [SPEAKER_02]: So I think this is a little bit more cheaper than the Marchi Gorg Bell ones. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and the Bronco Raptor I'm hoping. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah, it should be cheaper than the Raptor. [SPEAKER_02]: yeah so it's kind of like in between there yeah kind of between the middle of the range and also but they should take notice of what Hyundai is doing I think oh yeah probably I'm sure I was earlier I was over over there over at the Hyundai booth and I was talking to somebody from GM's competitive intelligence team You know there he's checking everything out and I'm sure forward and still and I said people wandering around your gathering the same kind of data well because everybody was surprised by that announcement so [SPEAKER_01]: other manufacturers also need to understand this right and see what's going on. [SPEAKER_01]: So for this, they announced the partnership with Major League Baseball, so they have this truck here, and look, it has a miniature Baseball, the Baseball Diamond Field right there, right here. [SPEAKER_01]: in their booth, but they have a little bit of news, which is not to be a call right there. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so this year is the 30th anniversary you've watched of the expedition. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, don't don't remind me how old I am. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, the expedition originally came out as a 1997 model. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And this would be 2027 model years, the 30th anniversary. [SPEAKER_02]: So they've got a 30th anniversary limited edition. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they just got a major refresh last year. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's still pretty new. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: But now, you know, adding a few other flourishes to make it distinct. [SPEAKER_01]: So, I was reading up on this, so the color, this kind of blue amber, I think they called it, is basically a dark horse, one of the dark horse models, thank color. [SPEAKER_01]: And you can kind of tell their resemblance a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: But that was supposed to be almost exclusive dark horse, but then they wanted to put it on this. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is based on the stealth version, and they call expedition stealth as one of their sport-y models, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But it's also a black color and [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so this is, this could be over 80 grand. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that was about what we're looking at right now. [SPEAKER_01]: I want me to spice it up, it's 90. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it has unique color. [SPEAKER_01]: I think unique wheels as well. [SPEAKER_01]: There is also badging, check out the badging on the wheels. [SPEAKER_01]: Right there, an anniversary edition, 30. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you can't have an anniversary in this business without building a special edition of some vehicle. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's interesting because I think you and I were touching on this last time that some development cycles have shrunk some extended for various reasons. [SPEAKER_01]: And when you're [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you want to keep it fresh, right? [SPEAKER_01]: You want to keep it moving. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, even if you're not going to do a full redesign, you do need to occasionally bring out something distinct that will keep customers interested, keep them coming into your showrooms and shopping for whatever's new. [SPEAKER_02]: And for expedition this year, 30th anniversary is the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I was actually thinking back because I did some research on this. [SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was O3 or O4, maybe somebody will correct me, maybe you will, where the expedition that was like a second generation. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And they introduced rear independence suspension. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it was really early on. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so the first generation that came out in 97 was really based on 50. [SPEAKER_02]: So it has solid axle, least spring versus pension. [SPEAKER_02]: And then for the second gen in 2003 or four, they decided to go, they were one of the first to go with an independent versus pension on a vehicle like this. [SPEAKER_02]: Because what that does [SPEAKER_02]: Not having the rear axle having to move up and down, you can lower that rear floor, and then that third row seat is getting much more comfortable seating position for the passenger's back there. [SPEAKER_01]: Cool, do you want to peek in inside a little bit? [SPEAKER_01]: I know there's somebody else filming there, but they have kind of a new light-collar interior on this, so it looks actually quite nice as far as the interior contrast, and they have a little bit of [SPEAKER_01]: I think badging also on the inside, as far as 30 up in addition. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think they don't want you to forget what you've paid extra for. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: But you made the next one point. [SPEAKER_01]: Some people say, oh, it depends on suspension on trucks, it's garbage because it's going to be unstable or when you load it up with a trailer and payload, you know, it's not as good. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, it came a long way, I think. [SPEAKER_01]: And we do a lot of towing tests and a lot of trucks, even with coil springs in the [SPEAKER_01]: They do really well. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, you know, these automakers understand what the customers are looking for. [SPEAKER_02]: And you know, they are going to take the time to try and engineer these types of systems. [SPEAKER_02]: So that it still works for the task that people expect them to work for. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, whether it's hauling people, hauling cargo, [SPEAKER_02]: You know, towing a trailer, you know, it still has to do the fundamental job and you expect a full-size truck or SUV, and if he can't do that, then, you know, what's the point? [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, you got to make sure that an independent suspension still works for that. [SPEAKER_02]: It does, but you get more space in the inside, but you get a lot more space. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that third row becomes a lot more usable. [SPEAKER_01]: And in fact, it's kind of funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody switched GM with the towels and suburbans and GMCs, and Toyota went back to an axle, right? [SPEAKER_02]: although i think i think in their case it probably had more to do with the fact that the uh... it was more tonsure really yeah the secoya you know it was not a huge seller and reengineering uh... independent research pension for relatively low volume model like that didn't make business sense for them so they probably decided okay we're going to stick with the tonsure re-axle on us [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I probably made the business case a little bit better. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to end at Nissan here, since we're here, because of course they have to armada, they have to fence here. [SPEAKER_01]: But the rumor mill is swirling about an exterer. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's coming. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you heard anything? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, what do you can say? [SPEAKER_02]: It may have been visible at some point in the past when I was somewhere that I can't talk about. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: So it's more... A little bit more than the hammer. [SPEAKER_02]: They have confirmed that they're going to build a new X-Tara. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And so it's coming probably late next year, I think, or 2028. [SPEAKER_02]: but it is coming. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's going to be another entry into that same marketplace with bulldozer, Bronco, and everything else. [SPEAKER_01]: The truck base, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Body and frame? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just just like the old extra one. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And it'll probably be my base on maybe an updated version of the Frontier platform, you know, maybe for the next generation Frontier. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so the frontier we're looking at here at the show is their new Pro4XR, and you could see they are here in the logo on the wheel. [SPEAKER_01]: And basically it's kind of a rouse collaboration, right? [SPEAKER_01]: A little bit of a suspension lift, but not any power additional power or anything like that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's still a V6. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, underneath the hood. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's interesting, and that really got you when the external in a way, because you know we're in Colorado, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody loves us little off-roaders. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was like, what do you mean when you're going off-road? [SPEAKER_02]: You're going off-road? [SPEAKER_02]: You're going off-road? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you don't want something as huge as, you know, full-size truck or a rock or a rock or a Raptor? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you need something that's a little narrower. [SPEAKER_02]: And that, that external was a good size. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, and then after the wrong time. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they left it left just before that segment really started taking up. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they said chiming is everything. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and sometimes you just have consistently wrong timing. [SPEAKER_02]: All right, so just like how the, you know, canceling all their EVs right with gas prices go up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to five to four to five dollars now, a gallon. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think we basically covered basically the entire show this year for 2026 New York City. [SPEAKER_01]: Except there's a downstairs area for custom vehicles right over there. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'll hit it in a different podcast for car. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: There's also the Nissan Nismo Z with a manual transmission. [SPEAKER_01]: It's right there. [SPEAKER_01]: We should cover it in our car box. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we should. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is coming up. [SPEAKER_01]: Also check it out at oldtfl.com. [SPEAKER_01]: And check out, please, the wheel bearings podcast. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, come on over. [SPEAKER_02]: We have a lot of fun at that show with Robby and Nicole. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And we often reference the stuff that these guys are doing. [SPEAKER_02]: So. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, really appreciate it. [SPEAKER_01]: I listen to your show every week because you guys are pretty, you know, right there, you know, every, I think Sunday or Monday, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Usually Sunday's to tell me on our schedules sometimes it might come on, because it gets crazy and barggle might hold it till Tuesday, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: Because sometimes it gets crazy and we're publishing this show a little bit earlier than our regular, because it's on our show season right now, right? [SPEAKER_01]: So we, we want to be kind of, [SPEAKER_02]: If you're in the greater New York area, you want to see what's here and see it worth a while for me to go down there and I think it's going to have a way to do it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It is because when you saw some of these concepts, I mean that's pretty interesting. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of stuff here. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you, Sam. [SPEAKER_01]: I was good to see you. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see you next time.
