00:00:08

00:00:12
Speaker 2: What's up my brother? What's the word with you? Man? What's happening man? What's happening man? Slow motion? Man? Happy to have you on the show? Man. What's up with Low? With Low at man school? Bro? It's school is Tuesday. Man. Still he's so mature, but people forget he got he go to school every day. Yeah. I'll be forgetting that, y'all. Always together. I'll be forgetting that too. On somebody looking at my thought? You hit it? You hit a cane? You hear stuff going on? You got one? Know how many you got? I got one cane, course, and I got a little dog. Hey, what's up? What you need? Baby? Who are there? Joe Witness? Oh you know who? He was on the throne. Hey it up, I gotta do this zoom right quick, y'all come on in. Hey, like I knew P was on for you to be asking to though now now she did she and the lamb TRP. I said, you can't sneak out of here. And I heard them when she cracked that hang up, what's up though, Let's get to it.

00:01:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, memoir, the voice in your head is God. Drop March third man. Talk to me, man, give me the inspiration behind the book, bro. The inspiration behind the book was about me reflecting.

00:01:24
Speaker 2: I'll be saying, like, sometime we have so much successful have time to actually reflect. So it was about reflecting, and it was also about evolving and also having a piece of literature that I could leave behind, you know, much like music, but that somebody could get something from It, could inspire somebody, It could help somebody understand what they might be hearing the side their head. And that was my ankle on that, just trying to tap them to that creative side.

00:01:53
Speaker 1: That inspired me because I can't wait I can tap in like that because there's a lot of stuff I've been through that I want to shed as well, like going through that process, like are you learning something about yourself?

00:02:03
Speaker 2: Yeah? Man, I've always put myself in a position to learn about myself. I graduated college with a psychology degree, so that helped me I understand personalities. I can't say that I'm fully healed from my trauma by taking the course, but that helped, and then with the book. The book was very therapeutic because I felt like it opened up a portal and had me just like go back and find stuff. I found some old letters from my father when he was in prison from around three and it just man, it just you know. I started diving into it. And I also wanted to have some type of substance. I ain't just want to have a book just talking about my life because I know a lot of us we have struggled. But then you know it could be you can exaggerate some so I didn't want to get into that. So the whole concept behind my book is about intuition, the gut feeling divine guid It's me using my voice like a navigation to to to operate, to do business, to have relationships, and so on and so forth.

00:03:05
Speaker 1: And in that process, I seen, I seen you found some money that pops that stash.

00:03:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, man, see that, That's what I'm saying. Stuff just be When I started working on the book, that money was downstairs. We had a pipe bust. That money was downstairs in a bedroom, in the bedroom closet downstairs. We don't have nobody really stay downstairs, but we got a full downstairs basically kitchen, So it's something he doesn't hit my daddy. I bet my daddy July fourth, twenty twelve. So for me to still be finding a little each the eggs around the house because he was a sneaky, little, quiet little He wasn't quiet, but he was a sneaky little man, you know what I'm saying. So he just I just know he's still you know, I just know he's still be a role I really believe in that.

00:03:46
Speaker 1: You know, you're gonna be a skipped specially guest on Wayne's twenty year of the Carter Classic tour this summer. Yes, sir, we all how's gonna feel rocking with tune again as usual?

00:03:55
Speaker 2: And that's really like my family, that's really my brother. I've been knowing. I've been doing you music with Wayne for over twenty years now. Double Bad Boys came out in seven. We had done music before O seven, So when you look up, we've been doing music and we've been friends, you know what I'm saying longer than that. So uh, you know, man, just a real player, partner in the game, very unique individual, you know, jugging out when it comes to this you know rap stuff. So you know, I'm happy to be a part of it.

00:04:25
Speaker 1: I remember back in the day. I've been knowing you so long. I'm back in the day winning at BMW and we put up on the bus.

00:04:30
Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, but just you know keyword BMW. You know what I'm saying, having it, having it, having it, having my way. I was just telling somebody liked took your time with me. Man. I've been having a long time man, you know, like I ain't always had just so many of us. But even when I ain't been up, I just been knowing he got something on the way from him. So I just been carrying the same attitude for a long time.

00:04:52
Speaker 1: If you had to pick a favorite, your favorite song that you and Wayne got together, what would it be?

00:04:56
Speaker 2: It'd be Doue for Bad Well, well, I got to think along when we wrapped together for Bad BOYSTU for Bad Boys. I think it's just a timeless record. Plus he got my dog dollar on it, and it changed. It changed our lives. It definitely changed. Man. Yeah.

00:05:08
Speaker 1: If you if you if y'all don't no doubt, if y'all that on no Dollar, then you don't really you ain't from You ain't a real fan. You ain't you got a no doubt? What's your favorite song to perform on stage? Watch y'all go crazy? I'm different, go crazy. Birthday, Go crazy, the crazy Birthday, go crazy. There's gonna be somebody's birthday in the crowd. I'm different going crazy because somebody gonna feel like I'm talking to them.

00:05:31
Speaker 2: I'm different. It's like for everybody to feel like, you know, they ain't on the same plage with everybody else. You know what I'm saying. Whatever whatever you got going on, So I see you doing. That's the one. Yeah, four M, I do four M. I do that before before birthday song at the end of the show. So that always gives a great reaction. Obviously, that's the song got with Travis Scott and he put that energy on that with that hook. It's been on ever since. You think hip hop is in a healthy place right now, dude, Man, I think he could be healthy if that's what we're talking about. I think it could get healthy, and I think it will. Man. You know, hip hop is something like a revolving doors. Some people stay in the building, some people come out. So I think it'll be some more people trying to get in summertime. Man, always it always breaks somebody.

00:06:20
Speaker 1: I know, I know you in tune. Y'all really be so locked in in your own music. And what y'all got going on? Is it one rapper that you can see on the come up right now that you probably didn't heard them passing or or halo jamming or something that that's on the rise.

00:06:32
Speaker 2: I'm always be a schooly fan Atlanta. They got another kid around here, I may bring out my birthday. Asked me to bring him out of my birthday. Set birthday bad, set his name Hard Hard. He got a couple of hours. Man, this girl going two fast in my drive. Oh my well, my oldest daughter dry too fast, bro, slow down what we're doing through You remember this one right here? Jack, You remember this one? This was she was she got two cards, but this was she full keep me you see she remember that girl? You need to slow down? Yeah, you slow down. One thing.

00:07:19
Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you about it. My boy too, Man, he don't say on no cars. Every call you ever had, he still got.

00:07:25
Speaker 2: That mom right there from twenty ten. So yeah, that's the first time. That's the first panem marror in the city. But you know, she still looked good. She only got thirty five thousand miles on. You still got to b a nah No, I don't got to deal with that would be that would be crazy. That would be crazy, nah man. But for the most part, you know what I'm saying. I have an album coming out this year's called Players Only Live Once. It's about actually, yeah, the album coming out. You know what I'm saying. I'm in the process of mixing it, doing some touch up on it. It's me Static, select Her and Ransom fifteen hundred and nothing. During the production got I got guests on that from everybody from Mary J. Blis to Big Sean to Macy Gray to Tip. So I'm excited about that project. You know what I'm saying. Uh, you know, some real rapping, not so much the trap drums on that, but just some some stuff that you know what I'm saying, you can put on in the car and obviously, like you know what I'm saying, dive into lyrical. I'm still talking, still walking.

00:08:29
Speaker 1: No, what's the Players Only Live Once?

00:08:34
Speaker 2: I can my baby graduates on Saturday from see This Damntown Crying brom just a proud, just a proud dad. Man. Come on, man, come on man, you see it. Man, you see it? Man, I need, I need, I need murk. Oh come on man, you see this. I think I got a college preparatory degree too. Man. Smart, We're just smart all the way through up here. You're cap and gown, cap and gown, y'all. I'm sorry, I allright, look man, we get hey man, hey man, what's happening? I did it seven times, but I know the feel baby different times. Yeah, I got seven of them out of here. Jack. We're talking about about We'll talk about you later. I'm proud of you. Oh man. This shows I think with mammy, your mama. This is something like, yeah, all right, let me answer these couple of questions. I get back, all right, I'm here podcast below. How that came about? Bro Halo is an extraordinary yout, a different, unique kid who I did not I was almost tired of bragging on this. I would go out and be like, my son is my son that? And so I came up with an idea to do this podcast platform where he could just get on there and just be himself. We never have scripts, we never have Everything is straight in prov We just off the top. I mean for a kid. I mean, hey, those only ten We started when he was five. So for someone to be in that space and know how to navigate that space, to not be shy, to be confident, to understand timing, It's just what I always thought about the kid. The kid is a superstar, you know what I'm saying, And you know, and being someone that I'm funneling through this space right now, I think it'll be lucrative as he grows up. It's something he can fall back on. He obviously wants to go to the NBA is standing on that, and I'm standing on it too. I asked him as he praying about it, so I can be in the line and he said, yeah, So I'm in a line with it. And then when I thought about it, because I know parents have doubt with removed all of my doubts from that is that I became a music superstar and my mama don't do music, my daddy don't do the music. Shut up. So yeah, so I'm riding with him. The other day, I get to think of, likee, bro, ain't nobody in my family, you know, like you look, I go see if you go see the Jackson's You know what I'm saying, everybody does something. You know what I'm saying. Eddie Murphy uncle was a comedian, like they family was a comedian. They I don't got. I don't have none of that. And I became like, I don't have like none of that. I ain't have Like, man, I don't beat just like my uncles such and such. He played a piano. I ain't had none of that, And I made it so why he can't. So after I sat down and thought about it, like, Bro, you out of here because you you locked in and I'm locked in with you. So yeah, that's my that's my that's really like my best friend. Man, we hang together. I can't wait to pick him up for school. I can't wait to train today. I can't wait to get a smoothie with him. That's my dog. I love him. I was. I was just telling the producers on the show. I'm like, nah, two is fully invested in in low career. Bro.

00:11:56
Speaker 1: Like I was, like, I said, I've been to some guy came and seeing him play you know recent then like low is even though it's that is is a celebrity Low lockdown on the basketball.

00:12:06
Speaker 2: Shit I'm talking about like like no other you know what I'm saying.

00:12:09
Speaker 1: And one of my producers that they saw you in Kansas for the AJ Debonson and Darren Peterson matchup.

00:12:14
Speaker 2: How was that? It was good? I actually wrote up there with the owners of the Hawks. I have a great report with the owners and they were going out there to do some scout. Obviously we have a you know, possible lottery pick. We're getting new Organs pick, so you know, I have, like I said, a great report with them. Hey, Lloyd's well, they invited us both to go see the game over at Kansas, and you know, it was a great experience. We both been on private jets before, but we were on the owner. We was on the owner's private jet. We were watching the Duke game while going to see. Uh we're coming back from seeing a j and just trying to see and at this point I was more hip on a j I wasn't that hip on Peterson, but just going out there so early. We got this so early, we got to see how they warmed up, just the mindset. Obviously he didn't Peterson didn't play the whole game, but I knew he was a grown man from the time he touched the ball and it was a great experience. I hate say he'll consider going to Kansas. He really liked the atmosphere of the gym. So that's just a part of the experience. With me, it's about me trying to get these kids an experience more or less than just some monetary stuff, you know. So that's one for the books.

00:13:27
Speaker 1: But that's the that's that's that's the dopesth it ever because you know where we come from, like we was able to get these experiences when we was coming up in sports, been able to go to the NBA game or cos game and travel like that. Butro that don't wouldn't even motivate us.

00:13:39
Speaker 2: So that ain't something and Low that's gonna that's gonna make him even more crazy. I swear yesterday we had a great day of training, you know he I mean, he was like on fire, so you know, and he do that. I've asked, what's your what's your mindset? What you thinking? That's what since we on this subject, He's like, Man, I know you'd be saying, Kati, but who you think I was playing like today? Just think about it. Who you think I played like that? I know you want to say KD. I was like on CJ because you begin to spot like nah, not c J. I'm like SGA because he was hearing me. He's like nah, NOHG. I'm like who he like AJ the he's still talking about but he won't. But his warm up is so NBA like home, I deal with the band so early. Like he's just just a pro, you know what I'm saying. Compared like AJ came out on the court before before everybody, and then like how he trained, I mean, how he warmed up for the game. I think intrigued Halo a lot. Just how he really was like sweating before the game started. It was important. So yeah, man, we're doing that. We're doing okay over here, we're working, We're putting in the work up here. Let's just say that. Nah, I already know man, logo be straightched testing bit right quick? Man? The Hawks lose.

00:14:51
Speaker 1: You wasn't at the game. I've seen I've seen p at the game. But bro, how did it get blasted like that last game?

00:14:59
Speaker 2: Series? Bro? Man, they were just the Knicks was just more physical. Man. The game before that I think really knocked a lot of fight out of them. Man, they was, and you know, to be fair, I think the Kniggs got away with a few files up there in New York before we got here, like pushing clear, pushing the playoffs too. I get it, you know, I get to understand. But I would have liked I would like that same playoff energy from the rest on our home court as well. I get it when we are away, but don't come here and still be on the same type of we won't. You know, I'll be looking into it, like I know. I know MSG got the crazy fast I know I see Spikely, I see fact Joe, I see all of that. I'd be I'd be thinking about that like they trying to. But they was clearly a better team. But I just, man, I just like what we're building. Man. I like what we're building. I like what we got. I like the I like what the future has in store for us. But one of these top five or ten picks adding that to who knows, I think maybe a good trade. That's what I'm really thinking anyway, Like you can get one of these kids. But man, I don't know. You got too much stuff out there, man, you got you got Janis out there, CJ. Come off the books. This year. He a free agent. Y y'all got some money and y'all got picks. Yeah, man, I like c J. I think CJ ideally say fancy, if we got like a dar in Peterson and CJ coming off the bench, that'll that'll be a solid back court. Mm hmm if we got that, if we got somebody like I don't know, I'm trying any thinking about the draft, like who will ask so much about it? Who will come in? Who we can plug and play straight from the draft. You know what I'm saying. Let's just be thinking, like I know Booser, I tell you about six nine, he looked. I can't tell how tall he is for real? I six? Oh? Really? Yeah, I don't know, man. And then I'm also in this space where I don't know if we should get the best player or something that we need because I hate I hate that too. I think were fitting good with the yall guards. Y'all got here. We need some big now, man, We're gonna need some big they can run. We gotta keep them first them first couple of games. Man, we were running, man, we were taking that thing out the neck, getting it down. So I don't know. I hope Quinn don't figured it out though. I'll be right here if they need somebody to talk to. Wo was and Spurs last night? Did you watch the game? I did? I did. That was a great game. And I'm gonna be honest, I had I have excuse me, the Spurs win and the whole thing. That's what I feel. I had that back when they beat like, okay, see them three four games in the row, I was like, damn that boy, that's a problem team because they got they loved playing defense too, and they young, and they athletic, and they got an alien. But last night they went in there with old Rudy and just what they had and they they beat him, fair and square. Bro, they beat them. They beat him. They beat him fair and square. So that was interesting. But they did have a chance to win the game, which champagne champagne whatever at the end. But that was a really good game. That's gonna be a good series. And that's Rudy younger man that yeah, yeah, yeah, but you know, young and young and a fool. Yeah that's is young and I know how I go. He come up on him and all that, and I know Rudio, you know, a former Defensive Player of the Year. I get it, But that guy, damn that that damn seven five. That's just man, It's just I just ain't never seen nothing. I just ain't never seen nothing. I just ain't never seen nothing like they went.

00:18:47
Speaker 1: They win Game one with our defensiowing, ao, how you think this is gonna the rest of the series, gonna go.

00:18:52
Speaker 2: That's a big win to start the series on the road. Yeah, they ain't on the road. It's a confidence booster. It's a confidence booster for sure. But you know, man, you know, man, they got Spurs. WHL coach, that ain't gonna lant. It's gonna be a good series. But you know they ain't gonna lay down. Man, you know it ain't gonna lay down. Man. Who you got winning that series? Spurs? I guess Spurs win the whole thing. I got Spurs winning the whole thing. I'm with you. I had Spurs. I had Spurs. Originally I felt that it was gonna be the Celtics because I just thought Jason Tatum was like every game he was getting like they have no temple to himself. Yeah that's what I That's what I felt like, you know, mbat them had different plans. They got a really good team too. Uh So the East is really up for grabs. The Knicks look good, going to win thirty or forty last night. The Boys like kind of kept going, kept doing with it, you know, deal with the Hawks or whatever. It's that really that getting the ball running the players through Cat. I don't think they nobody figured it out yet with them back door screen just like Cat just I don't know, like they and they and they just started doing that against the Hawks and they smash scored I don't know, forty fifty four back door on us. So the NIXT looked good. First NBA team in history to win three games in the playoffs bout twenty five points the secutive. Man, it's that man. Man, Mike Brant made a real coaching adjustment. Boy, I saw it, Halpen, both of my motherfucker didn't know what the switz. Needa know what the switch stayed in or nothing. Man Like he got a food. I mean, I know the coaching got filmed, but man, I don't know if they switching on what. Man, he get that mug at the top and he just do this like your little kid. He just do that and he's starting to light the passes. He's starting to he's starting to get geeked off good passes. He was't on that. Yeah, doing this shit, you know what I'm saying. So they look all right too. I just I can't go for him, man. I lost some money, been with them, been with my hawks. Man, I can't go for the I can't say it that I want the Knicks to win, but they look good. Four straight games. They haven't given up one hundred points and they and they making them be move on defense, so they giving them problems. Yeah, he got to actually move the mold legs on the jack. You got to pick him up and move. You don't want to do that.

00:21:03
Speaker 1: Now, most people don't know i'ma I'm gonna get back to I'm gonna get back to the Boston Rocks, the Rockets and all that. But most people don't know you have your own spot called Candy Land.

00:21:13
Speaker 2: Yeah. I was in there last night. That's why I'm so tired. Bro. You didn't call me though. Man. I went up there, supposed to have a meeting to mean turned into stick around turn into it just was a really good night, a really good crowd, and uh, me and me and goat went and uh we hung out to both four thirty this morning. Man, So we ain't gonna see no Candyland Hawks collab like the Magic City was gonna do with them. I'm hoping for it. I know you are asked and the owners know. I have that Jamie Jamie, and uh, it's real, real close to the family. She looked out. She she got having a nice gift for graduation. And then obviously Tony Russell, he's a man to our mind and he definite knew I got the club. I had to speak to him about it, like his opinion on some of the property and stuff like that. So we'll see. We've only been open for two and a half years as a is when you look at you know, places like Magic who've been open thirty forty years and other clubs in the city. So we we knew. But that's what people like, that's what people need, that new energy. So we here to stay.

00:22:23
Speaker 1: Two more questions bout basketball, which the felting is for Boston Celtics. Man, I almost was gonna tell you I ain't gonna lie.

00:22:28
Speaker 2: Man. I was disclosed. I was disclosed. I was disclosed. I was dis close. I was disclose, but I don't know if it's mess of the team. I was just close with saying we ought to go out to Jaylen Brown because I was disclosed, but he got a coming home. I was disclose, but man, you know he got it. Man, he got it. You got he got a big old price tag on him. But he is just I like the Celtics, but I don't. I really, I really like, I really I like to sell this coach. But how they play with the they you know, they live by the three, die by the three, but they rarely die by the three. They really do. Man. I seen them boys heat up, man, and it just like, ain't no way you can keep up with them. So you know, of course it Tatum healthy. I think I think they get through. I do future the Rockets KD. I think this would be a great season to see if KD stick it out for two seasons. He's he's gonna just hop to to something else, because I could tell you this, he does his due diligence, like going to the Houston team. I never saw it until he got I ain't see the the the tools that he had around him and everything. And they're a good team and they will I love the coach too, So you know they could they could if they had a point guard, which they you know, was hurt. They it could have they had a man playing the one I think most of the year. So I think that be obd to be coming back and they get their pieces back, they get their guard, their point guard, their head back, and then obviously get to get something it.

00:24:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, do you blame anybody for this first round loss for the Rockets?

00:24:05
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean kat was hurt that. You can't plame nobody. If KT don't play no games, you can't think you're finna win. I mean you can't. You ain't got ain't like that you need you know, some people look at it like, Okay, Katie had an ankle sprain Ain't had a serious hyper extension on his knee and he back already, Like you got to do your question. You start questioning people love for it for the game at this point of like because like we all been injured. I've been there and I played with a broken toe three years. Like in the playoffs, I understand from KD Pointer, but like the fans don't understand like this the playoffs, Like you you want to know why you don't. You want to know why, because when you did go out there and play half injured, you end up getting a real injury that set you out. He did. People don't understand that. So after you do that, you're going to always be conscious of what something small could do at the end, you know what I mean You to us, it may seem small, but he's been in a situation where whatever it was hurting him was not his achilles, and then this would end up going out or whatnot. So I think he heard his achilles when he got hurt. But yeah, bro, I mean it's easy. I know what they were saying, Like, he know they finished lose and he ain't want I see all that. But at the same time, KD came back from a real serious injury came back to be the KD that we see now, So I don't expect him to putting his life on the line to have to do that again. Yeah.

00:25:28
Speaker 1: Well, man, y'all look out for my brother new album coming soon. Man, go get the book.

00:25:33
Speaker 2: Make sure y'all check in his podcast with him and low shout out to his daughter. She graduated. You dig.

00:25:39
Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, It's a lot going on in the household. Bro, you know I love you to definitely been my real brother over twenty years.

00:25:44
Speaker 2: Man. I appreciate you giving me some time today. Bro. Thank you. Man. I appreciate y'all.
