We're gonna have way too much fun. So apologies in advance, but I'm so excited to be co hosteen with you. This is a very new endeavor for me. But I cannot wait. We're gonna have some amazing guests, some fun games of course, some champagne along the way because it's a happy Hour. So I cannot wait to start the new year. And you know what I'm excited about too. We're like the Ying and the Yang. I think we're gonna balance each other out so well because I mean, some people may say that I'm just a little bit rough around the edges, and I feel like you're that that calming spirit that's gonna smooth things. Oh, Rachel, don't put too much pressure on me. We'll see I'm poking the bear. I'm gonna make you say some things. People are gonna be like, man, man, what happened to try in California for too long? I like it. I like it. I think it's cute. And we have two amazing guests to start that out. So we're a duo, but we also have a duo in studio, maybe an even better duo. Yeah. So I don't know if people can recognize or tell from their voices, but we should give them some hints. Okay, So how should we do this? I would say we have some of America's coolest parents. Just from talking to you both for five minutes. Yeah, I would say that maybe they've known the bachelor his entire life. Maybe could condition some secrets, some of the dirty secrets on The Bachelor. Some people say they fell in love with these parents before they fell in love with Peter. I know who said that this one over here? I felt I understood you once I met your parents on the screen. Anyways, now it sings out you know exactly who it is. Welcome to the show, Barb and Peter Senior. Yeah, whare which I just found out. By the way, Peter, I had know what. Peter's in the room. By the way, you guys, I had no idea you were a junior middle name cut all the Really Peter number two Budd? Okay, yeah different different right, So Bachelor Bud, it's in the room. But that's cute. I welcome to the show, you guys. You're happy to have you here than I am thrilled to have you here. When I saw you during the hometown week on hand this season, I had to do a recap for another station and I was just like getting in all the close ups of you two. I loved you too. So when I found out you guys are going to be in the studio with us, I was thrilled. Oh, thank you, thank you. Yeah. I think a lot of people share Becca's sentiment. You know, when when Peter introduced us to you guys and we met you at his hometown, there was just the energy came through the television screen. Okay, and I'm not a cheesy person, so I'm not just saying this because I'm sitting in front of you. There was something about your family that America fell in love with. It was just special and fun and you could just feel the love and like you said, the good energy, Like you guys are a family that I would just want to hang out with. Oh, I mean, Wes. So I feel like it's so special to have you guys here because so many people want to hear your story. You know, we've seen you as Peter's parents obviously have set such a good example for him where he went on this crazy journey to try to get exactly what the two of you have. So I want to get into your background and your love story. And so we're just going to start from the beginning. Okay, sounds good. Are you ready? But first I have one important question before we start. What's it? Are you two the most popular people in Westlake Village at this point? I don't know about that, but I would say it's we have had encounters absent Peter where it's just to me, it's very surreal coming somebody complete stranger coming up and knowing who we are. It's like, oh my goodness. And you you had an incident at the Oh yeah. I'm at Stonehouse the other day and I'm with a friend of mine and she says, are you well known around here yet or do they recognize you? And I don't know. So we're eating and then all of a sudden, eight ladies come around me and they go, are you pilot Pete's mom? And I'm like yeah, And then my girlfriend looks at me and says, I thought you said you didn't get recognized. I well, it's only gonna get worse from here, and in a good way. In a good way. Yeah. People were really happy, even more. We welcome it good. How long have you guys been in Westlake Village? We moved here in two thousand and four. Four, okay, two thousand and four. We came from Florida. We're in Florida, Boa like now that I'm a Floridian, I just moved to my DEMI So you moved to where my family's from. Yes, yes, you know Cuban. Yes, yes, yes, yes, I have to talk about it. We can get all into that. I still haven't had good Cuban food yet. Got a gloss from for you to go seriously to the household we are No, yeah, we could definitely go on about that because I'm like immersing myself in the Latin culture, my husband's Colombian, and the Floridian culture. I'm not a big fan of Florida yet, so you can help me get there. So you've already moved to Miami. Yeah, I moved in April. Oh my, just coming back and forth. That's right. Oh my god? Now mom and dad? Who's asking the questions? Sorry? I just wan, but I think so many people want to know. So we know you moved to Westlake in two thousand and four. How did the two of you guys meet? Boy? You know? Actually it was thirty three years ago, yesterday, December third, And I was a flight of ten entry United. Husband's still a flight pilot for I know. I tell me you're a flighted and on the captain right anyway, he's still flying for United today. But we were on a flight and I was supposed to be deadheading. That means I wasn't working. I was sitting as a passenger going from Chicago to Miami to work the flight back. So I'm sitting here and on the airplane and I see this fellow go right by me. And this is before we take off, of course, you know. And I looked over and do you know that all I saw was his butt. Yeah, I saw him from the bad He was really nice and tan because he had been doing Hawaii trips, so he was really tan, and I could see his pants and everything. It was just so nice, you know. And do you know I do too. Do you know that I knew I was going to marry him. I didn't even know his upon the first rook, just the butt look. I believe I did not even see his face. And I went over like this, and I go, oh, that's the guy I'm going to marry. And you know what. Then we landed in Miami, and of course now I'm working the flight back and he comes in the back and he says, you know, there's a possibility that we might have a mechanical so we might have to stay in Miami. And I said to him, I said, oh, that's great, because I'll get to see my family. Yeah, you asked me. I did ask me that, two good ones, right, So I figured, oh darn it, I didn't have a bathing suit with me. But you know, I mean I was already in love with him. I was just there was something about him that it had just attracted me so much. And so he went skinny dipping like I don't want to hear this. No, actually, we um no. We actually went back to Chicago because the flight, you know, it was okay. We got back to Chicago, and then on the way back, I remember telling my flying partners, I really really want him to ask me for my number, but I don't know how to do it, you know, I mean, how does he ask me? And so forth? And my flying partner said, write it on a piece of paper and just give it to him when he leaves the plane. And I went and I got, okay, my name Barbara and my phone number, and oh the soundwriting is not good. I want to think, I'm really you know, everything's perfect. I did it again. I did it three times. Okay. I put it inside my apron pocket because I figured, you know, I'm not gonna do this. It's just I'm not that aggressive. So we get to Chicago and he comes out of the cockpit and he says to me, He goes, you know you told me that you were Cuban. Can you speak, you know, say something in Spanish to me? Because he grew up in Venezuela. And I looked at him and I said, oh nah, And he goes, oh my god. Well she had me at hello. But I was expecting a little bit more than that, and I just thought, okay, fine. So he says, do you have it? I'd like to get your number because I like to take you out. And he says, do you have a piece of paper a pen? I go, I don't have anything on me. You have to get a piece of paper and a pen. Keep in mind I have three of them in my pocket. All right. So he goes and looks for a pen and a piece of paper and I write my name and the rest is, you know. Two kids later, two kids later, Peter and Jack. Oh, I love that story too. It was It was really sweet. I just love the swimsuit that can you speak in Spanish? I mean, listen, that's that's how my husband got me too. So I get it. Yeah, yeah, all because of the butt. Yeah, but the button so when you were okay, so you get back, does he call right away? How do you go on the date? After all? I keep in mind, Okay, I'm Chicago, Okay, city, Okay, I'm not athletic me either, but you feel so you feel me. I'm not athletic at all. I'm just city person all the way. So he sends me a little note in my mailbox at work, and he says, i'd like before that, didn't I left? I thought I left you some messages. Oh you didn't you? No? No, but you were on it. I was. I was on vacation. So when I got back, I got this message for the date, and he says, we just to have little mailboxes in our operations area where you could you know, information? So I would I left her out, yeah, and then put an info. The date was, would you like to go skiing with me? He lived in Denver for the first day, first date. I lived in Chicago. Okay, I've never I don't even know what a bunny hill is, I've never heard anything. So he says, would I like to take you skiing? You know in Denver? And I do you like to ski? And I wrote that I love to skim you know, I'm I'm good I ski well basically, oh get off all the way. I've never seen a ski in my life at this point. So anyway, so I get this and I go to the nearest like ski store in Chicago, and I'm like, okay, what looks good? What looks good? And you know, I really didn't have a lot of money at the time because it was just, you know, I just started flying and all that, and to get the gear it's expensive. So I thought, okay, I might as well just get a really nice coat. So I got this really cute little coat, you know, and I couldn't get the pants or anything else. And I said, okay, I'll be there. Well, I show up to go skiing with him in jeans, okay, blue jeans, cute little top, and my high heel boots that I would warn in the city, high heel boots that are I knew right away shouldn't slope before when she showed up. And then we do. He tells me, okay, let's get the boots on, and I'm like, oh, these are not very ladylike to walk with. So I get out and he says, we're going to go here on the chairlift. We'll keep in mind I don't do heights. I'm paranoid of heights. Okay, I can do airplanes because i'm inclosed, but if i'm out, I don't do that. I'm well. And he says, okay, let's get him the chairlift right, and he doesn't. I have not told him I don't ski yet, so I knew through myself and this chairlift, which I've never done that before, and going up, I put the bar down right away because I was scared. And we're going up, and he says to me, he says, oh, isn't that beautiful? Look at had beautiful sight. He's to my right. I'm to the left, and I have my eyes closed the whole I'm looking this day and I'm saying, yes, it's absolutely beautiful. But with my eyes closed, he can't see my eyes closed. And when we're getting right to the point that we have to get off, he says, okay, we're here, and I know I have to open my eyes now. I opened my eyes and I see. I'm like, there's just no way I have to tell him the truth. I looked over it himself. I've never skied a day in my life, never skied a day in my life, and he says, just let me grab onto you. He had to grab onto me and then come down that little slope because if we didn't get off there, we were going to the top, you know. And so she has some motivation, motivation to get off. But it was scary, but she looked cute. I feel like, yes, it mattered, right, Hey, I get it. I'm from the Midwest, so we have slim pickens on those hills there, So yes, I would be the same way if I got to Denver and got on the mountain, then'd be like, uh, isn't too late to say no? At the end of the day, she was actually skiing, Yeah, I mean, yeah, not too bad because I was in love. Oh I love that. And he came from a reason to hold on to you. Yeah. Yeah, that was really what she was trying to. Yeah, you got it. So you guys have been married for thirty one years, Yes, and it seems like there's no love loss. I mean you really see. I mean I'm looking at the way that barb that you're looking at it just Peter. She is that between Peter Bud Pete Senior. I don't know what she's saying, I'm just gonna sticking dad. I see the way that she's looking at your dad, and to have, you know, such a fire for each other such as zess that I know, like we everyone in this room, those who are newly weds engaged. Maybe I don't know. I really don't know. I don't want to know the way that we aspire to, So I guess I just want to aspire towards what do you do to keep the love alive thirty one years? Well, you know something that helped right off the bat was we were both in the same business, you know, flight attendant pilot. We got to fly together a lot um. We flew to Europe a lot. Barbara was the language qual so it was easier for her to bid the trips that I was flying. And you know, having something in common like that was was really nice, you know, just just off the bat, because you know, being in the aviation industry, it's it's tough for somebody who doesn't understand, you know, like you know, you're on a trip, you're gone for several days, you come home, you're dead tired, you might not want to do go out whatever. But we didn't have that that issue and just um, she's just fun. Oh she's just always up to do whatever whenever, and uh, just a lot of fun. You know, It's it's hard not to gravitate toward that. I love you too. Oh I love this. I love looking at you guys. So I want to know, on all those flights that you guys had together, did we ever find moments to us sneak away basically like oh high club, yes or no? You know what. I think We're getting out a lot of information, but it's time for you to return the favor. Okay, you got to hear about that damn windmill, so a more time we need to hear your stories. But the important thing is Peter, they're married, Okay, Okay, yes, okay, I can't, I can't, okay, Okay, So we know a little bit how you guys keep the fire alive. Um? Any advice for newlyweds like miss Rachel over here or people who are engaged. I just moved in with my fiance a few months ago, so we're navigating this whole new chapter of our lives. But any advice for us newbies in these relationships? Oh boy, Um, I would say do spontaneously. I love it. That's one thing that we before I even when the boys were born. Before that, we were very spontaneous. We just say, you know, let's go on a trip. We'd go like we lived at the time, we lived in Virginia, and we'd say, hey, let's go, you know, to New Orleans because we want some Cajun food for the day. You know, let's go here and just be you know, have that spark that just doesn't die. Have that little bit of mystique, you know that you can offer each other by doing crazy things, fun things, you know, just things that um come natural to you but from the heart. And I yeah, absolutely. I mean it's great to do things together. But do you each have to have your own thing too? So, I mean I think that's very important. I think that is important. That's what my grandfather always said. You still need your own hobbies, you do. Yeah, I have a question. Once you two got together, did you did you have to report it to the airlines like the HR Department because you were do you have to do that? I don't know why. I know, the legal and changed so much now. I mean it didn't matter, No, it didn't matter at all. See, I would at sometimes I wish things could still kind of be like that. So did you get to travel together. Were you still in the same flight pattern? Yes, oh yeah together. What fun is that? We used to go a lot. Was well, we did Europe, we did Europe a Madrid. Yeah, they're hiring pilot license, okay, and no, we we we flew a lot. And of course when we got there, we always you know, did something, you know, we'd go out to eat, we'd go sight seeing. I gotta tell you a funny story, please, So it didn't always work out that our schedules meshed right. And of course we had Peter and he oh he was about six months was it six months? Okay? So you know, there were a lot of quite a few times where I'd get home from a trip and I'd rush home so she could go on her trip and I'd take care of Peter and vice versa. Well, I was in I was coming home from Paris and we got delayed, and I'm like freaking out because I know that she's going to be flying to Madrid. She's got Peter, you know, her mom is in Chicago, and so we're you know, we're in the air and I'm tracking when we're going to get there, and so we get on the ground. I'm coming through immigration in Dallas Airport in Virginia, and I'm calling her. I'm saying, I'm coming through immigration. So she's waiting outside the doors and she hands me Peter and I take him home and she goes and flies her trip. I mean, that's how close it was. But the thing is, this is how close it really was. I was already boarding passengers and welcoming on them one and a first class seat in front here because if we let you know, when the raps come in. He had him in the first seat there, in the first class seat in his little carrier, just looking at him and going, Hi, welcome aboard, Welcome aboward. You know your glass of champagne, my son over here. That made a good little entrance. I'd like that. And then I see him coming down, running down the jetway, and I'm going and you'd never get away with that today. I mean, you know, just I say, and you know, forget it, bring my kid on board? No, where's his ticket? You know, I mean it's just, you know, everything's changed. Peter was destined to be a Poe, my goodness. I mean, I didn't know that you were a flat attendant. I knew that you were a pilot or are a pilot? Still fine? Are you still a flight attendant? No, okay, I'm a real train now. Oh okay, okay, Yeah, I feel like this was all meant to be. So since we since we threw Peter's name out here, let's talk about Peter, because we know Peter one way, but you know him a whole another way. Yeah. So what was he like as a child? I want to know the bad stories, not the good ones, the naughty ones, the naught Yes, was he a naughty child? No? You know it's it sounds boring, it is, Yeah, but he really was not think he was. He really was. I mean I have to say he's he's from the day that he was born. He slept great, you know, he slept in which I loved. I mean, he's he's always been a really good kid. As a matter of fact, I mean, he one thing about him when he started kindergarten in first grade, when he was able to write, do you know that at the end of every work that he did, you know, you had to put your name right. And I don't know where he started, but he started it. I am happy he would finish off the Peter. I gem happy he did everything. Was I have that paper I was telling Peter the other day, says, you know, we have all this paperwork from Peter still and everything at the ends is Peter Webber. I am happy. Oh he's always been a really happy He never had no Seriously, when I look back, I believe you he's really you know, we've been blessed with two great kids. Um, but Peter has never you know, he's always been the Craziest thing you did that you got in trouble for was in Oaks. I remembered that he climbed up onto the roof, you know, exterior roof to watch a football game with some friends. How dare you, Peter? Oh my gosh, you don't even do it perfectly did that to get into detention. And then when he told us he was in detention, we're like, both of us were like we're looking at arts, like are you what and why? And You're like, oh, Peter, that's Peter. He wasn't given another boy, a swirly or anything. It was just climbing the roof. I am so touched by the I am happy. But let me tell you why And I'm totally aging myself when I say this in the room show of hands. Who's seen Legends of the Fall? Okay, one of my favorites. Do you remember when Anthony Hopkins took that chalkboard and wrote AM happy after he had the stroke? So now I'm expecting anytime Peter signs autographs on his pictures at the end, I don't love. That's like one of my favorite scenes in the movie. So I don't know, that's just so nervous. I just that's beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, And I think it says a lot about who you are and a lot about you as parents, right, because I don't know what it says about my parents, but it says something about you guys. No, so I want to know. So we obviously we're talking about how you guys met and you know, have the whole airline industry in your background. When did you realize that Peter was going to follow in dad's footsteps? Oh? Boy? Is there that one moment long long ago? Yeah, I mean one of my favorite pictures. How old is he in that picture in the cocktail with me? Three? Two or three? Yeah? Um? You know, always loved air planes. And always This is pretty funny story too, I'll tell you this. He was It was in the um Brock Road Elementary and they had an assignment. You know, what do your parents do? Oh yeah? And he was in first grade, okay, first grade. And as a pilot, you're home a lot. I mean, yeah, you're gone too on your trips, but you're your home more than your way. And he said that I mowed the lawn most lawns. You know, what does your dad do? He mows lawns. You know, I used to. I used to. I used to have him in my lap on this riding mord. I just take him around, you know. And I had this green jumpsuit. It was a flying suit military thing. And yes, yeah, my dad mos lawns. And then the teacher once, so your your husband mose lawns. Yeah yeah, but you know I didn't go into together. He does mow the lawn all the time, because Peter had told him that. Yeah, but he told him that that's what his profession was because he always saw him, So did Peter. One of molans to take after you love that tractor. I know that, but but airplanes are always you know, foremost he always wanted to first, right was two weeks old? Really, yeah, I took him to Chicago to visit my mother when he was two weeks old. How did he do? It's fine, I just flew with my two month old nephew and he was surprisingly so easy. He made it look easy. But then you know, you always get the crying kids behind you too, and you know, like, well he would before he even took off the run away. Yeah, the first time he took he fell asleep before. But it's coming to the kids and let's say the air infection or something you know he possessed. Like I can't apply a negative adjective to you, Like I'm not at all like everything just it's so great and I believe it and not scenes I believe it. I really do. I Okay, So watching Peter on Hannah's season, you know I always just you're always smiling Peter, like he always just has this big grain. He's always he's I am happy, he's happy. But now everything that you guys are telling us too just backs it up. I want to hear, like one besides climbing a roof, there had to be one time where you had to ground him or something or you found him sneaking out with a girl like miss Curfews. Yeah, because we saw him, you know, a little kissy kissing. I'm sure we'll see a little. He was very shy. No, he never really girls. He never talked to girls. Um, when did the sway come then? You know? Even in do you remember when you were in when he was even in grammar school? You know, Um, there was this really cute girl that we knew he had a crush on. But of course, you know, he never told us what we can tell because he didn't want to be by her and just stay away from her and wide and uh, every time I drop him off in the morning. Remember when I would drop you off in the school in the morning and the girl was opening the doors for the kids when they came out, and go further, go further, and I would say, Peter, calmed down, calmed down, And I wanted to see the interaction with killer. The girl was so cute and the rolling in fourth grade. But he was so shy, so shy. So when did he come out of his shell with Hannah the first time? What a shell to come out of, right, I mean, my goodness, he didn't think what got him out of Michelle was when he when you did um thoroughly modern? Really? He to tread out for a play at this high school and it was really it was really good. Yeah, he was, he was on Was it a musical? Yeah, musical thoroughly modern? Really? Would you care to step up to the microphone and give us a little too, Damn, we're gonna have to give video clips. We'll be sure to get that dance on video later at our high school for a play because his daughter is starting one of the musicals, and he was talking to you, my old teacher, and she was telling him about musical that I was in. Okay, So, speaking of Chris Harrison, did you so he his daughter went to your school growing up right now? Okay, so you did you guys know him before Peter went on the show. No, no, not like my senior year of high school. Yes, yes, actually okay, we built it. Yeah, we actually ran in and Chris there and how you doing? Yeah, I see you in a few years. Yeah, you imagine in a couple of years. Okay, So Peter sounds like he was a little bit shy and tell this, Uh, what was the play? Millie Thoroughly Modern? Millie what was Jack like and how is Jack handling this change with his brother, the change from high school or just or just not Peter, you know, now being in the limelight and going on the show being so supportive. I mean, they're they're best friends, you know, they're they have each other's backs all the time. Um. I just love the relationship that they have. And Jack is super super supportive of him, as he is of always of Jack, because Jack is our genius. So he's always very Yeah he's brains and the smart one. Yeah, very smart. So that we all support each other. Okay, I love that. So we asked mom and Dad before recording the podcast if Jack would potentially be the future bachelor. Apparently he's in a in the serious relationship. It's a very serious as I was about to say, you sound like you like her, Yes, very much. We love her. Okay, so we won't touch that, Okay, so we'll support that relationship. But okay, okay, So I want to talk to you from the aspect as families having to sit and watch Peter go through this whole crazy bachelor journey, because you guys seem to handle it so well, and Becca and I have both been through this, and I think I know how my parents handled. They were terrified for me to go and do the Bachelor. They were bit more supportive because I was going to be one of many, but then to be the lead is a whole nother level, and with that comes so much scrutiny. And I'm just wondering for you, how do you deal with having to watch from afar, you know, watch your son go off and do all of this. Hear the negative comments. I'm sure family and friends are like, did you see this? Did you hear this? How do you deal with that? Either mom or dad? Either one of you can take it? You know I did, so, Okay, yeah, go ahead. You know when he when he first did The Bachelorette, I really knew nothing about the whole aspect of the show and how it worked, and but he was so confident in what he was going to do on that show. I mean he literally say what as he's walking to get into the limit, he says, I'm going to bring Hannah home? And I'm oh, and I'm thinking to myself and he did, you know, I mean, that's that's pretty good confidence, right, I'm going, what are the odds of that? What are the odds of him even being on this show, right, But yeah, there's always as a parent, you you know, you read negative stuff and you see negative stuff, and at this point you just just let it, you know, roll off your shoulders because there's nothing you can do about it. And he's he's he's handled it all so well, right everything. Um, you know his whole reasons for being on the show, and he's true to that. He's stayed true to that. So anything that I see out there, I really don't pay it much attention. And that's the thing. I mean, you, as his parents, know him better than anyone, and so as long as you keep that in mind. I mean, my mom, you know, she was very hesitant for me to go on the show. She did not want me to. She did not want me to go in the Bachelor because she's like, the girls are going to be so catty and you're gonna be like vying for one guy's attention. She was just not for it. So I just had to tell her, trust me, you know me. And that's thing, like I said, you know him. And so you're going to hear all sorts of things from everyone and their mothers about their opinions. And how he handled a situation with a woman or whatever choice he made that week, Like you're going to get it all, and so to just brush it off and stay supportive and just focus on your family unit. That's the most important part. I just keep that in mind, Like you just have to brush off all the comments you cannot read. I keep I had to tell my mom, like, you can't read into everything. Parents love to mother. Get out of the comments he's doing. That is what I told my mom too. She my mom was the one who would watch back The Bachelor and she'd be like she'd get so mad that she would throw marshmallows at the TV. That was her way to get her aggression out. And I'm like, okay, you can have your marshmallows, but don't go down the rabbit hole to read everything. Ye like, brush it off. Just you know me, You know my decision. You know who I am at the end of the day, and that's all that matters. And you know this kind son who is happy who you know he's an adult. You give him his wings and now he has to fly. I'm making a shirt that says I am happy. I can't you know I agree with him. Wholeheartedly. I do have like you said, I have friends you know that would call me and say, oh my god, did you read this? And did you read that? And I was like, you know what, half of its not? I don't read it. You know why? Because I know who he is. I know the kind of person I raised. I know my son who you know, what he stands for, and I know that. I'm so proud of him, and he's who he is to the very end, and he's the real thing. So I you know, it goes in like I don't waste my time, you know, and that because why waste your time? Right, You're just wasting time. There's a couple of things I do when I address though, Like, for example, a lot of people gave Peter flack about him living at home, which I personally was a fan of. I thought it was extremely financially responsible, but I really did it. But I mean, I know, and we talked a little bit about this off the air, But how did you feel about that? Because I think it goes a little bit deeper. It goes a lot deeper than that. I have to tell you. First of all, we are a very very close family, very close you know, Peter Jack my husband and I, you know, we're basically one, you know, and we support each other in every which way, and we were each other's best friends, not just parents, but we're everything to each other. Right, So what I want to go back to now is, yes, there's flag on that, but I would laugh. I would laugh because people forget I'm Cuban, Okay, Guana all the way, you know, to the point that you know, in old time Cuba, and I'm not, you know, a spring chick by all means. But in all times old Cuba, the kids would be at home and they would get you know, in their twine, they would get married, and then they would still live at home. They would have children and the grandparents. It was one big, happy family, everybody living at home. So contrary to what a lot of people, you know, you know, oh, I can't wait to get rid of the kids or whatever at such an early age, you know, eighteen, they're you know, out of the house or whatever. Our culture is a little bit different, and not that one is right and one is wrong. We are just they want we want to keep you know, that family, tie, that unity together. And that's one of the reasons that Peter and my other son Jack are still living at home because there's no reason really to move out. They work four days a week. Let's say for Peter, he works four days a week, then he has four days off and he goes with his friends away, you know, like they take a little mini vacation wherever, and then he comes back and he goes right back to work. So is that really smart to be paying you know a lot of money monthly until you can buy a house. So I always tell him it's best to save your money, which he can buy a house tomorrow if we wanted it. But hey, that's more than other concessus on the show Consette, you know. But he can do it, you know, and responsibly. He can do it. But you know, um, you know, I'm just looking for the right place for him, you know, when we do decide that, he's going to take that step to help him find that. But you know, we're very happy living at home, you know, to everybody, you know, together, Like, I think it's important that you address that because I think it's a like you said, it's a cultural thing and it's not as you know, everyone's like, oh my gosh. You know, Peter lives at home. But when you break it down that way and you explain it and I and I do understand it on a certain level. Having married into a Latin family, I do get that. And I think that there's a way to look at it as in, Peter's very close to his family and there and that's very rich and that's very healthy. And I know for me, I look to see if someone is close to their family because I think that's a very it's a reflection of them. And so I'm happy that you had the chance to explain. Thank you, and especially at this point in his life, like his world is, Peter, your world is gonna change, It's gonna be flipped upside down. And I think this is the time when you're when the show is airing and after after all the craziness happens, like this is the time to be with your family and to like be with the people who know you and who comfort you. Um, that was one thing like I got off of my season and at the time, I was living in Minnesota and my mom lived twenty minutes for me, and Gary and I were with her all the time because there was a point where there was so much craziness and our world's had completely changed it. I just wanted to be with my mom and with my sister and just spend that family time because I knew all of the otherness, the craziness was happening. So it's I think that's special that he has you guys to lean on and is very grounding too. You know, I'm totally you know, going on a show like this, I can only imagine, you know, how does it not affect you in some way? You know, and you know, just the examples I've given of people coming up and recognizing us, I mean, he's it's just constant for him, and you know, it's hard not to probably get a big head with that. But that's one thing that we love about him is how grounded he is. Yeah, And I think that's something that the viewers will I think they found saught enough of it in him this season, but I think that they'll see it even more in his own that they'll appreciate and love. Yeah, He's he's got a hearty goold. I will say that the real success of the show, I would say is, yes, obviously you want to find somebody at the end of it, but it's knowing who you are before you get into the show and then remaining that same person at the end of it and not letting it change you. Yeah, which sounds like, Peter, you're already there, so at least we know you're successful in that part. Can't wait to find out about the other part. One thing I do want to ask is because you've all seemed very close before. I like, when I left for the show and came back, it brought my family even closer together. And at first I didn't know if it was going to do that. I didn't know if it was going to be something that pulled us apart. And that just changed so much. But it ended up bringing my family and even my extended family so close. Like we would have watched parties every week and we would have groups with like thirty people, and we still have that, Like we're always talking with my cousins and my aunt and uncles, and so I hasn't changed yet for you. I mean, it's definitely gonna change pretty soon. But well we did that with The Bachelor, ede with you know, like you're describing the viewing parties and everything. I think it's definitely brought us closer, you know, and just the whole dynamic of the friends coming over and supporting and the Bachelor cruise. You know, I mean I have to tell you we have us a little family, right, but our family has grown tremendously who with the Bachelor. Oh yeah, I mean I can honestly say that we're all You guys are all our family now because we feel so close. I mean, this has been a an awesome journey. I will say that it's been an awesome journey. And I'm going to start crying right now. People usually cry when they get here, So it's okay, I'm not kidding. You're not alone, and I'll probably be right behind you. No, because it's it's um. The producers have been the producers. Everyone, everyone in every department, in every aspect of it has been so I mean, so there for us in every step of the way. For him, I mean, he's you know, he's when he left, I knew he was going to be just fine because there was so much love that everyone was pouring out for him, and they poured out for us as well. We have just been I mean, I know, the whole family. I can speak for all of us to say that we've been overwhelmed with the love and the support that we've gotten from The Bachelor. I think you touched on a good point. I think you know, when you're watching the show, you see the Bachelor, Bachelor, the contestants. There's so much more that goes into creating this show that's been around for years, and and I think at times, from what I've read and heard, the production team gets a bad rap. And that's I think is so unfair because, like you said, I mean, we stay in touch with some of them to this day. I mean, Garrett's parents are constantly texting a handful of them like they're like you said, they become friends and part of your family, and they just bonds you in such a way that I don't think most people, realizing can even fathom. And so, you know, you make you see the relationships being made on the show, but there's so much more in the back end that people don't see. That that's what makes the show special and that's what made a lot of it worth it for me and Garrett and our families as well. Listen, there's a reason the show has been on for so many years. It's not just because you know, they create this show. You know, other networks could do it. It's the people that run it. It's what they put into it. It's the sacrifices that are made. They have families at home that they leave to do this show. I also just want to say we did not pay the webbers to say this. There are real tears. They're not props. This is real. But I was a person who came onto the show. I'm extremely skeptical case and I overanalyze everything. And I remember when I came on to do The Bachelor, I thought, I will not make friends. I definitely won't like the man who's the lead. He won't like me. And the producers and everyone. I can't trust any of them. I did a complete one eighty by the time it was over, which made me comfortable in saying yes to being the Bachelorette because I knew that I was going to be taken care of. And I love hearing other people tell their stories and how it's it's similar, and I know it's going to continue. And that's why you know my children will probably be on the show. It'll still be on. Yeah, oh no, it's it's true. It's true. I mean, you know, I when I write to all of them, you know and saying thank you and so forth. You know, at the end of the show, now I did say, I said, you know, we will be family forever, forever family. I always sign it, you know, forever. It was it was tough to say goodbye, you know, when we were at the last location, and because I mean so many of the crew members came up to us and you know, said how much they enjoyed working with him, and it was just a pleasure, and you know, getting to meet us and vice versa, and it's it is, it's it's like a family. It's amazing what they do. So you feel that way now, right because you've you've gone through, because we know the journey's over at this point. But when you first found out that Peter was going to be the bachelor, of course you were excited, right. I mean, it's an honor, like, let's just wear it like a badge of honor. We're all three leads in this room. It is an honor to be chosen out of many to represent this franchise as their lead. Period. It still feels weird to say that and think that too, though, And I still don't think I actually went through it. I feel like it's a dream, but it does feel like a dream. I do too, but it really is a humbling, experienced one. But it is such an honor. That's what made me want to say, yes, I thought you you want me out of everybody who's come through here. You see something in me that I don't quite see in myself at this point. But when when you heard that he was gonna be the basch okay, once that the excitement died down, how did you feel? Were you like, oh my gosh, my baby, what's gonna happen here? Who are these women? These these strangers that are gonna go after my baby? You know when he when he was on the Bachelorette the very first when he left that day, going back a little bit, when he left to go on the show that night, he walked out the door and the car was waiting for him and his lives were last words to me were I'm going to find love. You know. He soaked those words to me and I never forgot those words, you know, and you know he did. He went to look for love. Unfortunately love wasn't waiting for him and that show. But when he went on to the Bachelor, you know, my biggest thing was he's going to go find love, you know, because he that's that's his thing. He he's on the show for love, and that's strictly what it was for. And you know, I remember him saying it, and I go, now you have the chance, you know, it's up to you now. And I just felt so happy, you know, for him. I mean I just felt so thrilled and excited for him to go on that journey to find, you know, to see if he could find that person to be. It's a whole other level, you know. I mean when you know, when they chose him, like you said, out of all of these people that have you know, been on this show, it's quite an honor and um, but I knew that he would represent well. So I had no you know, fears there and I knew that because he was his heart was so pure and what he was trying to do that you know, everything would happen the way it's supposed to happen. So so you trusted in Peter. How did you feel about knowing that you, your son, your your little baby was going to have thirty girls vying for his heart. That's the part I think is if I was a mom, would make me nervous, actually, you know what. I yes, I could say I was a little nervous. I thinking thirty women together and he's Peter is I mean, you don't know Peter that well yet, because you know, you don't really like we do here. But Peter is one that likes to make everybody happy. Besides him being happy, he likes to make everybody happy. He's a people pleaser, you know. And Dad was worried about that, you know, And I didn't want him to get hurt, you know, And because he is an emotional person, very emotional, and I just you know, I was like thirty women and he's got to deal with, you know, thirty women and the way he is, you know, trying to be there for everyone. And you say that, you say that, so I wonder if that worry, how big that worry was for you? Because you say Peter love. It sounds like Peter Love's love and he and the one thing missing in his life is love. And to know that all these women were going after him and he wants to make everyone happy, were you afraid that maybe he would fall in love with everybody? I actually did say that, I was like, Peter's gonna fall in with like seven women. And it was a compliment. But and I say that because he just seems to wear his heart on his sleeve and he wants it so badly. Were you afraid that it might be too much for him or he'd get lost in the thing with him is you know, he doesn't see anything negative. He doesn't have a negative negative glasses at all. He sees positive. And everyone, you know, ever ever since he was a little kid, you know, you you know, you'd have kids come home and say, oh, so and so did this to me, Mommy, you know, someone you know took my pen or some complaint or something about someone. To this day, twenty eight years later, I can tell you that that guy has never complained about you know, a you know, a pen being stolen from you know, from school or And I was kind of nervous with the girls because it was relating to the girls. Now at the same time, I'm like, oh my gosh, she's gonna like, he's gonna see everybody being very nice, and you know, sometimes you might not see the true colors. Where mom comes in, that's where comes right, Mama comes in. What's your birthday? Leo? Oh my gosh, you are not a Leo. No, no, I had an X that was a Leo and man, Q hard X. You are might be the nicest Leo. I was expecting you to say Aquarius or Pisces by the way that you were describing him. But okay, anyway, sorry, I always ask I'm a Taurus. Can you not tell? Can you not tell? So? You guys know Peter better than anybody. All right, that's your baby, And I'm just curious as to what you think Peter needs out of a partner. What kind of woman do you want Peter to bring home? He Okay, He's got to have somebody that has a love for life like he does and is willing to do anything at the drop of a hat, you know, be impulsive to just live life, because he is all about living life, loves to travel. Yeah, a sweet He's always said that he really wants but looking sweet. Yeah, He's got to have somebody with a with with a heart as good as his, because he's he's he's got a great heart, he really does. And whoever he chooses is going to be a very lucky woman. I will say. Sitting down with you two and seeing your love for each other and for your sons. Whoever if I don't know what happened yet, if he chose someone or whoever he ends up with, will be one very lucky girl. And if she doesn't want to travel, I will be the plus one. She's got some big shoes to feel. I just feel like, you know, if you again, we have no idea, but whoever you bring home, if you bring someone home, I just feel like she's kind of got. She needs to step up her game because you guys are the real deal. You're very genuine and I hope that you know, Peter, if you did find love, that the woman fits in perfectly, because I almost feel like she better fit in because I don't. I'm gonna be mad that you did not put Peter Pete Senior and bar through this, Like she better step up. If she's there, I feel like I r and then she's not up to par I'm going to be very upset, Peter. I'm mad. I'm like, I'm gonna really need to meet her if there is a if someone at the end, hey, you know what you'll have if if there is someone at the end, You'll have to come over for her an ex cub and dinner and from there, we'll take it there. I just like want to be like the mean cousin, like a grilling cousin, Like I just want to Bill. Yeah, I'll be the one that gets her a little tipsy to get all the good details real well, yeah see that. I think that would work for Peter's Like I didn't end up with anyone, anyone, She want what she's feeling in that moment. Okay, So a little bird on the street said that you guys may be making an appearance. We know that typically we see the parents towards the end, right, so we expect that. But I'm hearing you guys come on a few times. America loves you so much that we need to get a little taste tests as the season starts, we must um no, no, yeah, you're We're very fortunate, um to be able to be part of one of Peter's dates. On his date, Uh, he will come. We're going to have a renew while we knew ceremony for oh my gosh, after our invites must have been lost in the maut Okay, I did send him out, Hey coming over for the Cuban meal exactly. So we did have Cuban food that day. By the way, Um, nope, so we we did have a beautiful I have to say it was very thank you, thank you to everyone that made it possible. Um it was. It was a beautiful, beautiful day. You know. Um when we first got married, we got you know, we got married in Hawaii on a sailboat and it was a very little boat. It was a very little wetting interest thirty one years ago. It was very tiny. It was just my mother, my best friend, and the captain of the boat, the photographer in us and that's all it was. So now this was really I would say to the producers all the time, this was really our wedding and calling it a women everybody because at the time, you know, we we just wanted to get married. We didn't have a lot of money, we were just starting out and our big thing was to get married because we were so much in love. And um, we we did. We got married, but we didn't have a big ceremony by all means or anything like that. And now it was beautiful. So thank you to Bachelor for making our dreams come true. Let me tell you something beautiful. If there's a hierarchy when it comes to the Bachelor franchise. They are contestants. There's I'm gonna put the bachelors below us, Becca, there's a bachelor. They're the bachelorettes. And then they're the freaking Webbers. Because I tell you, let me tell you something. You know, who didn't get a ceremony this one? Don't don't delete this out either, And I didn't want and I and I'm glad we did it. But I just think it's so funny and that that's why I'm like, you guys are at the top, because there are couples that are trying to get weddings and ceremonies and who got it? The Webbers? They deserve it. How about you do it? But they deal do I don't didn't want it. I'm totally fine. I'm just like making making a joke. But I'm just saying how much it is. You know, you talk about what the production means to you, but it also shows what you mean to them. And I think it's beautiful and I can't wait to see it. I can't wait to watch it. I want to know one thing, did you wear white? Wait till you see it? Okay, Oh, did Chris Harrison officiate it? I'm sorry, did he did he do the officiating? That's a surprise. That's going to be a big surprise for you guys. Were you in it, Peter, Peter, were you the ring bearer? Well, I think that's that's so special that you were able to renew your vows with your son's there and part of this crazy, amazing show they did. And my family, my family, all my fleet, my family, the oh gosh, I'm gonna start crying again. No, do you know that two days prior, I had just spoken to my aunt in Cuba. And it's hard to come out of Cuba. It's not easy, you know that. And U Two days prior, I had just spoken to her and she said to me, she goes, oh, um, you know, how's Peter doing? And so forth that I'm going fine, everything's good because she always wants to know about what he was doing at the time. And the day of the ceremony, I'm coming out and I go up, I'm Jack is watching her out. Yes, my youngest son is walking me out. Jack And I'm walking out, and of course I don't want to look at the audience because I'm a little bit nervous. And I get up to the stage. And when I get to the stage and I look back my aunt from two days ago that I've been talking to Cuba. They flew her in from Cuba. I got, I get the chills off. You wouldn't have been able to control my ninety five year old uncle. They brought him in from Miami. Countless cousins, you know, and and I mean my aunts, and they brought them in from Miami, and then also my really dear friends from New York, Florida. I mean, I can't even think because I was just overwhelmed they were all there. And I just remember looking down while we were doing the ceremony and looking at the audience and going, you know, because I couldn't believe that was my aunt. I can't wait to see this. I'm even Dad. Did you get to meet with Nil Lane before? With who? Nil Lane? That's that's a no. Then if you said you would, you would know the jeweler. Oh remember the bracelet? Oh yeah, yea, I know, no Mail Lane coming through. He's a great guy. So I'm yeah, yeah. Man, if I was the girl who was chosen to be that day, I would have gone back to that house and told everybody, you can go home. Let me tell you, I just witnessed today. I met the aunt. Oh. I mean, I'm telling you, she's all even in the fam. It's been it's been fun. Hand me your roses and good night. Well, I'm excited to watch this. I'm excited to watch the entire season. I can't wait. Just again, seeing the love you two have and knowing the support that Peter has. I think it's going to make for a great season. Thank you so much. That's our house. We're gonna smell you down. I have one question, can my fiance come? He likes to eat a lot though, that's like he might eat all of the food. Just stories we might need. We'll bring somebody. I have some boys that do the same thing. Okay, it's a good thing. And you bring your husband. Oh no, he's coming over. Peter, who who? If anybody right? Andrea Janis wait to meet her on the season. All we could keep going with you guys, guys are so much fun. Thank you for being so open and honest and sharing your story telling stories about Peter. I know we tried to get the dirt on you, guys and Peter, but there really isn't any dirt to tell. I mean, what you see is what you get, which is very refreshing. It's very beautiful. And I'll just say it when we're living in a time and by living I mean in the Bachelor world, in this franchise where the motives of people coming onto the show are so questioned, and for me, and I know I can speak for you too, Becca, it is so nice to be sitting in this room and to know exactly what we see on screen is exactly who you are now. I can't say the same for the women that are on your season because I haven't met them or seen them yet, but it is truly truly nice to see you guys and to see how you are and to know that you're the real du So, thank you. I think it's safe to say Peter was there for the right reasons. Yeah, and you guys were too. Thank you so much for being here on our podcast.
