<v Speaker 1>He'll be like a goomy beer. It's the internet. You're busy. <v Speaker 2>Let's do this for December ninth, twenty twenty four. For <v Speaker 2>the next hour or so, let me help you sort <v Speaker 2>through the world of gaming on Game Mess Mornings Live <v Speaker 2>with Me Jeff Grubb. <v Speaker 3>Today, more switch to rumors because well why not? <v Speaker 2>And Fortnite is getting its own GTA online style role <v Speaker 2>playing game and a counter strike mode. I can't keep <v Speaker 2>track of it anymore, but first please join me and <v Speaker 2>welcoming today's co host the Game Mess Mornings. It's Mike Manatti. Everybody, Mike, <v Speaker 2>how are you doing? <v Speaker 4>Nack? <v Speaker 5>It's me, Mike Manatti. The Ghost of Christmas cool Days. <v Speaker 2>The Ghost of Mike Manatty's birthday weekend. <v Speaker 1>How was it? <v Speaker 5>Ghost of Mike Manatty's birthday? Yeah, that was yesterday. Come on, <v Speaker 5>I don't want to be obnoxious. I still want to <v Speaker 5>talk about my birthday. <v Speaker 1>Do you get anything fun? Yeah? <v Speaker 5>Yeah, Chris got me this uh Muppets Christmas Carol door <v Speaker 5>knocker looks just like Marley from that Agent. <v Speaker 4>Got me a Warcraft Final. Yeah, it was good. <v Speaker 5>I got to see Mauana I yesterday. A j and <v Speaker 5>the kids took me to see that little expectations souls. <v Speaker 5>But I actually enjoyed it, So that was good good. <v Speaker 5>I'm glad it has a street fighter the movie reference. <v Speaker 5>What Yeah, I like it happened, and I like looked <v Speaker 5>around and everyone was like, what. <v Speaker 1>Like. <v Speaker 4>Look, I'll just say it spoilers for I wana too. <v Speaker 5>But there's a song that the Rock sings where he <v Speaker 5>goes you think that it's doomsday. <v Speaker 4>For me, it's just Tuesday, No way. <v Speaker 1>That was a lot of coincidence, not intentional. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's the most famous movie line ever spoken by anyone, <v Speaker 2>so it. <v Speaker 1>Has to be. <v Speaker 4>I enjoyed that quite a bit. <v Speaker 2>In that Skelting Crew show, they had a reference to <v Speaker 2>the Star Wars Holiday Special in there, and I was <v Speaker 2>very excited about that. But so I referenced the street <v Speaker 2>Fighter at the movie would have been way better. <v Speaker 1>It would have been much more excited about that. <v Speaker 2>Anything else you like you said, went out to see Mona, <v Speaker 2>to hang out with friends, just had a good time. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, our friends. My mom took me to Red Lobster, <v Speaker 5>which was great. Enjoying that before they closed Forever, which <v Speaker 5>might happen any moment, You'll get replaced with the chee <v Speaker 5>cheese apparently. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, out with the old, in with the old. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. I said that to our group, to our group <v Speaker 2>Discord and Dan, Dan doesn't. <v Speaker 1>Know about chee cheese. Surprised me too. <v Speaker 5>I thought that was a pretty global chain, global at least, <v Speaker 5>you know what I mean. You know, I'm I'm a <v Speaker 5>bad person, So I think that the US is a <v Speaker 5>big enough. Yeah, they didn't have Doozen Kansas. I guess <v Speaker 5>you think you think uh as my mom would say, <v Speaker 5>it's a a spicy Do you think che Cheese would <v Speaker 5>have been too pitchy for them? <v Speaker 1>And Kansas maybe a little bit. <v Speaker 2>Yes, you know, going to che Cheese doing saying it's <v Speaker 2>your birthday, getting the umbrero and have them sing it. <v Speaker 1>Was made a passage. Yeah, it was. It was. <v Speaker 2>It was amazing And they come out and sing their <v Speaker 2>fried ice cream Yeah, and getting fried ice cream. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>it was the ice cream I really liked. Was che <v Speaker 2>cheese fried ice cream? <v Speaker 1>Good time. <v Speaker 4>Yeah. <v Speaker 5>It's funny because like I don't think I you know, <v Speaker 5>that was been my very picky days. I don't think <v Speaker 5>I ever ate a single piece of Mexican food at <v Speaker 5>the che Cheese, So I was getting their pretty bad <v Speaker 5>cheeseburger and fries, so was pretty good. They were seasoned. Sure, yeah, <v Speaker 5>that's good dances. Maybe his dad just didn't have a cupeon. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, probably my side. <v Speaker 5>Seach was one of the people who got the hepatitis <v Speaker 5>at Chee Cheese. He got the hepatitis. Yeah, he was <v Speaker 5>one of those. He was one of the people. So yeah, <v Speaker 5>for people don't know, that's why che Cheese went away <v Speaker 5>for a while. <v Speaker 4>They gave people hepatitis. <v Speaker 3>Yep, and they're back to do it all again. <v Speaker 1>I can't wait. <v Speaker 5>So look out everybody, you know, everybody gets what exactly. Yeah, <v Speaker 5>they they're they paid the crime exactly. <v Speaker 1>They've been rehabilitated. I'm sure absolutely hopefully they're all around. <v Speaker 5>So for my fortieth birthday, yeah, we can go to <v Speaker 5>and I can get the giant sombrero and they could <v Speaker 5>sing their own happy birthday song. <v Speaker 4>It is a happy happy. <v Speaker 1>Birthday from all ust to you. <v Speaker 5>Is that somebody else they had a very special Mexican <v Speaker 5>flavored chee Cheese birthday song? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>Was it to the Mexican hat dance? Is that what <v Speaker 2>they were doing? But in my head, what you were <v Speaker 2>just singing is what they sing at Chee cheese. But <v Speaker 2>I think you might be right that that is not <v Speaker 2>exactly what how they sang it. <v Speaker 5>So all right, So so Dad created another giant emo <v Speaker 5>of me as Batista, got spanned in chat for a <v Speaker 5>while as soon before game deleted it just now. <v Speaker 1>He also directed message. <v Speaker 4>It to be it Grace, I did see. <v Speaker 1>Yes, very good dance. <v Speaker 3>Yeah damn, we saw it. Don't worry, we fall it. <v Speaker 4>Thank you very much. <v Speaker 2>All right, let's explain what we do here most weekdays. I, <v Speaker 2>Jeff Greb, will help peace your gaming life back together. <v Speaker 2>That includes breaking news and maybe even some of our <v Speaker 2>own original reporting. You were watching live on Twitch. <v Speaker 1>Welcome you. <v Speaker 2>You can always listen to the show later on podcast <v Speaker 2>feeds by searching for Game Mess Mornings, or find the RSS. <v Speaker 1>On giant bomb dot com. You can also catch the <v Speaker 1>show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube. <v Speaker 2>Hello YouTube. All right, we have a lot to get into, <v Speaker 2>so let's start the Morning Mess with some rumors Nintendo <v Speaker 2>switch to reveal and release timing. There's rumors about that, <v Speaker 2>and also Kirby Planet Robobot getting a switch part. This <v Speaker 2>is from Nintendo everything. More rumors have surfaced, not only <v Speaker 2>regarding Nintendo switch tows reveal and release timing, but also <v Speaker 2>the apparent port of Kirby Planet Robobot on Nintendo's current console. <v Speaker 2>It's a lot of the alliteration in that sense. Today's <v Speaker 2>speculation comes from the Nate the Hate podcast shout out <v Speaker 2>to Nate. Nate Drake, whose name has been out there <v Speaker 2>before with the Nintendo rumors and the industry as a <v Speaker 2>whole held discussion pointing to a possible Nintendo switch to <v Speaker 2>reveal between the second half of January and early February. <v Speaker 2>Given that an announcement is expected by the end of <v Speaker 2>the fiscal year ending March twenty twenty five, that's not <v Speaker 2>too surprising. Nintendo's next financial results briefing is also planned <v Speaker 2>for February fourth, so that seems to be the catalyst <v Speaker 2>in this situation where it's like Nintendo probably wants to <v Speaker 2>do something around that time, and that seems to be <v Speaker 2>the chatter that he's hearing. Nate goes on to say <v Speaker 2>that he's heard in an event will be held for <v Speaker 2>Nintendo switch to in May. Now, this would be an <v Speaker 2>event separate from the announcement happening with some sort of <v Speaker 2>video or whatever, a blog post, however, they do it <v Speaker 2>a live stream maybe, but not like an event, a <v Speaker 2>launch event, a launch event. Maybe a launch event, because <v Speaker 2>it does sound like this thing may come out in <v Speaker 2>May or maybe June. So yeah, this event would be <v Speaker 2>like here it is and now here it is a <v Speaker 2>couple weeks later. <v Speaker 1>Which. <v Speaker 2>That sounds about as right as anything else to me, Mike, <v Speaker 2>what about you? <v Speaker 5>Yeah, especially that you know late January February time frame <v Speaker 5>for finally announcing this thing, that sounds right. Rumors are <v Speaker 5>picking up, they've picked up before. But look, we have <v Speaker 5>at least one real deadline here that it's had. Us <v Speaker 5>said they are going to announce it before March thirty first, <v Speaker 5>and you know that could that could mean they now <v Speaker 5>said on March thirtieth. I assume they want to give <v Speaker 5>themselves some some legal room. And like you said, they <v Speaker 5>have that investor meeting. <v Speaker 4>Now. <v Speaker 5>They had that investor meeting a month or so ago <v Speaker 5>and we all thought, oh, maybe they're going to announce <v Speaker 5>it in October before this was after meeting and that <v Speaker 5>came and went yep, right. <v Speaker 4>You know it always seems shocking. <v Speaker 5>How long it is taking for them to announce this thing, <v Speaker 5>and yet it has to happen eventually. <v Speaker 1>Yep, it's. <v Speaker 2>You know, and they put a timeline on it themselves, <v Speaker 2>so we know generally when it's gonna happen. I guess <v Speaker 2>that's that's helpful that we're not sitting here going like, <v Speaker 2>what are they excuse me, what are they doing that <v Speaker 2>they are They do have a plan generally, and while <v Speaker 2>they aren't sharing anything specific with us, we do know <v Speaker 2>it'll happen before the end of March. So yeah, January February. <v Speaker 2>Nintendo has often done Nintendo directs around that time. I <v Speaker 2>don't think this thing gets announced in Nintendo Direct, but <v Speaker 2>I still think that they're used to putting stuff out <v Speaker 2>around that time, so that would probably be comfortable for them. <v Speaker 2>And then a big event that details all of the <v Speaker 2>games and all the features and shows the hardware off <v Speaker 2>every which way but loose, and then we you know, <v Speaker 2>get the thing two three four weeks later, So either <v Speaker 2>that's late May or early June again, sounds very plausible, <v Speaker 2>and I'm hopeful for that because I was definitely at <v Speaker 2>a point where it's like, as we were going through <v Speaker 2>these a. You know, you mentioned the one, Hey are <v Speaker 2>they gonna mention it? In that October financial briefing, and <v Speaker 2>they'd mentioned that it's like, man, this thing might not <v Speaker 2>come out to next holiday. But as as I've sort <v Speaker 2>of settled down from that reaction, got on the other <v Speaker 2>side of it, it's like, Okay, No, they could release <v Speaker 2>this thing in late spring, early summer and it would <v Speaker 2>be just fine. <v Speaker 1>It would be very there'd be very little. <v Speaker 2>Difference between the success that the Switch had at launch <v Speaker 2>and the Switch to coming out not necessarily in late <v Speaker 2>March early April, but may June. That yeah, that would <v Speaker 2>be just fine. And then they could be ready building <v Speaker 2>these things faster and faster as they get ready for <v Speaker 2>that first holiday. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, getting ready for all the kids, fishing up school, <v Speaker 5>getting all of as adults even more of a reason <v Speaker 5>to not go outside this summer. That's fine. <v Speaker 1>I love it. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean, you know, the exciting thing for me <v Speaker 5>part of that too is like, okay, so like we're <v Speaker 5>gonna announce the next Mario game, because I assume that's <v Speaker 5>not going to get announced three weeks before the Switch <v Speaker 5>Chuck comes out. That'll be announced. It's not right alongside <v Speaker 5>the reveal of the switch shoe, which is what I <v Speaker 5>would expect pretty shortly outdoors, maybe some other things about <v Speaker 5>launch games. We'll find out what's going on with my <v Speaker 5>Tripe Prime for which is probably at least a cross <v Speaker 5>platform game there, right, Yep, there's got to be a <v Speaker 5>couple of other interesting things, yep. <v Speaker 1>Definitely. <v Speaker 2>Also, I see that your name here is Toledo dot <v Speaker 2>com on the overlay here, so I can't change that. <v Speaker 1>That's not me. <v Speaker 2>Everybody so fun and frank frankly, I don't want it change. <v Speaker 1>That's perfect, don't. <v Speaker 4>Yeah to lo To, I sound like I'm related to <v Speaker 4>Dorothy's dog. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. That's not the only rumor we have for the <v Speaker 2>current Nintendo Switch. We're apparently getting a Kirby Planet Robobot <v Speaker 2>Robobot port in twenty twenty five. Luigi's mentioned two HD, <v Speaker 2>another game that was originally on Nintendo three D. Three <v Speaker 2>DS received the same treatment a few months ago. It's <v Speaker 2>unclear if Planet Robobot would be a fairly straightforward port <v Speaker 2>in HD, or if extra content would be brought to <v Speaker 2>the table. I gotta imagine that this would be would <v Speaker 2>be a pretty straightforward thing, like they're probably not gonna <v Speaker 2>put a ton of extra effort into these the late <v Speaker 2>Switch games. They're going, yeah, no, it'd be awesome to <v Speaker 2>have that on the Switch, but we're not trying to <v Speaker 2>add a funky mode or anything. <v Speaker 1>I don't know what you mean. <v Speaker 5>It's like, you know what we're getting with Donkey Kong <v Speaker 5>Country returns right, pretty straightforward. Yeah, this is interesting for <v Speaker 5>a couple of thanks. First off, I think we got <v Speaker 5>we got a sort of listener mail on one of <v Speaker 5>our podcasts saying, so, what Kirby game is gonna be <v Speaker 5>the last game to come out on a Nintendo console <v Speaker 5>this time? <v Speaker 4>Does happen a lot? <v Speaker 5>I think at the time, we're like, they already released <v Speaker 5>a lot of Kirby games on the Switch. <v Speaker 1>Yes. <v Speaker 5>The weird thing to me is that, so we got <v Speaker 5>Returned to Dreamland. But then the next Kurby game after <v Speaker 5>that was Triple Deluxe on the three DS. Then Planet <v Speaker 5>Robobot a Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot or like sister games, <v Speaker 5>they're very similar to a lot of ways. Plant Robobot <v Speaker 5>is definitely more likes, but I like Triple Deluxe. So <v Speaker 5>I'm a little sad to just see that completely skipped <v Speaker 5>over here. You could even bundle those two games together <v Speaker 5>if you wanted to. But Triple Dlux probably did a <v Speaker 5>bit more with three D gimmicks, even though Planet Robbot <v Speaker 5>had them too. Triple DeLux get it like three to <v Speaker 5>three D. I guess, well it's called that. Yeah, yeah, I. <v Speaker 2>Never played Triple Deluxe, And I was kind of like thinking, <v Speaker 2>because you mentioned this before, and that the first game <v Speaker 2>that they re released, theest part of that like trilogy, <v Speaker 2>and you know, they all use the same engine or whatever, <v Speaker 2>like they probably will get the Triple Deluxe and put <v Speaker 2>down on the switch and that't or maybe I'll switch <v Speaker 2>to eventually, who knows. <v Speaker 1>So I was looking forward to that. So I'm with you. <v Speaker 2>I'm like, oh, yeah, I'll play Planet Robobot for sure, <v Speaker 2>of course, But I was looking forward to playing Triple Delecris. <v Speaker 4>You know, way they'll do playing rob They'll go back <v Speaker 4>to Triple Dolts. <v Speaker 5>They seem more and more kind of especially now that <v Speaker 5>we have this sort of modern platform where games are <v Speaker 5>going to carry over, it seems important to them to <v Speaker 5>get certain franchises to make sure all the important games <v Speaker 5>are on these things. Are kind of making that point <v Speaker 5>with Donkey Kong Country specifically, yep, releasing these Donkey Kong <v Speaker 5>Land games and now returns on there. <v Speaker 4>Right, They're able to say things like. <v Speaker 5>Like all the Donkey Kong Country games ever are on <v Speaker 5>the switch. <v Speaker 4>Now. <v Speaker 5>I'm like, hey, look, that's true if we just you know, <v Speaker 5>count the games of the word country in the title <v Speaker 5>Donkey Kong sixty four, you know, Donkey Kong ninety four. <v Speaker 5>But whatever, sir, You know where we have a lot <v Speaker 5>of Metro games, we have a lot of Zelda games. <v Speaker 5>There's obviously ports missing there still, but I bet they're <v Speaker 5>going to catch up. <v Speaker 3>Yep, I agree, all right, let's move along here. <v Speaker 2>Upcoming portable grip zen Grip two might be the first <v Speaker 2>official switch to peripheral. This is from Ryan Pirano at <v Speaker 2>Game Ranks, reported by Universo Nintendo. A video game peripheral <v Speaker 2>company called Satisfy has introduced a new product called the <v Speaker 2>zen Grip two. Notably, they advertised the grip to be <v Speaker 2>made for next gen. <v Speaker 4>Consoles and what's next gen con right? <v Speaker 2>And to be clear, like these the Satisfied grips are <v Speaker 2>switch grips. They I've used one before, they sent me one. <v Speaker 2>You just slide the switch in it like really locks <v Speaker 2>in thinks to like some friction and it's nice. Now <v Speaker 2>they're saying this thing is made for next gen consoles, <v Speaker 2>it can only be switched to. Now, I think this <v Speaker 2>thing is up for pre order and it's launching in <v Speaker 2>like April or May of next year. It says Spring <v Speaker 2>twenty twenty five on this website. Huh yes, Spring twenty <v Speaker 2>twenty five. <v Speaker 1>So there you go. <v Speaker 2>Now, these companies could just be trying to get ahead <v Speaker 2>of the curve and don't necessarily know that much more. <v Speaker 2>I think if you're building a bunch of stuff, you're <v Speaker 2>building the machines to build to actually do the plastic <v Speaker 2>injection mold required for all this, you probably have some <v Speaker 2>idea of what this what the device is going to be, like, <v Speaker 2>what the specifications are. If if you don't even like <v Speaker 2>have like a dummy one sitting there that you could <v Speaker 2>test out, I guess it's possible that they're just going <v Speaker 2>off all like, well, all the other Chinese manufacturers are <v Speaker 2>operating on these assumptions, and let's just get in on that. <v Speaker 2>That's possible. But I think it's more likely that Nintendo <v Speaker 2>has provided some sort of insight to a lot of <v Speaker 2>these companies, not deep insight. Not Hey, here's what we're <v Speaker 2>doing with the switch like switch to, Like here's all <v Speaker 2>the details dimensions, but here are dimensions, and here's a <v Speaker 2>general timeline of when things could happen. Here's when it <v Speaker 2>would be good to have things ready by I bet <v Speaker 2>they might even have that. So, uh, yeah, what else <v Speaker 2>could this be? <v Speaker 1>Right? <v Speaker 5>Yeah, I'm right, So like you can't just completely guess <v Speaker 5>on this sort of thing, right, It's going to have <v Speaker 5>to fit the product there and yeah, I mean this <v Speaker 5>is just negatively that it is already Yeah, a grip <v Speaker 5>case for the switch to. It's kind of wowed to <v Speaker 5>see things like that before we've had an official reveal <v Speaker 5>of the console here. But you know, I get people <v Speaker 5>who are like so tired of hearing about switch To rumors, <v Speaker 5>but you know, things are really ramping up now. And again, <v Speaker 5>I don't think anyone's expecting it to be revealed in December, <v Speaker 5>like nath de Hayle was saying, like late January, baby, <v Speaker 5>early February. But I can't be excited, Jeff, I am <v Speaker 5>ready for my switchhe I've been. My switch usage has <v Speaker 5>fallen off a lot. <v Speaker 4>Especially the second half of this year, and I. <v Speaker 5>Just I kind of miss it, right, Like, I'm happy <v Speaker 5>to playing my rog ally and all that stuff. I <v Speaker 5>missed my switch, I missed those quality Nintendo games, and <v Speaker 5>all the thing really does need is an update, and <v Speaker 5>I'm excited to see what that update is going to <v Speaker 5>look like. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm with you. I'm feeling the same way. That's why, <v Speaker 2>you know, when I see little news stories like this, <v Speaker 2>I you know, I hop on them, I include them. <v Speaker 1>I do know a lot of people are you know, <v Speaker 1>gobbling all this stuff up, but a lot of people <v Speaker 1>do get sick of it. <v Speaker 2>When it comes to this. You know, we do know <v Speaker 2>based on well, I guess we don't know. The rumors <v Speaker 2>are the switch to will be slightly bigger than the <v Speaker 2>switch one, so this thing wouldn't fit the switch one, <v Speaker 2>So them announcing it's definitely just getting out ahead and <v Speaker 2>trying to ride a wave as it begins to crest. <v Speaker 2>So we'll see how that plays out. We will probably <v Speaker 2>find out more early next year. Uh Okay, how does <v Speaker 2>Microsoft decide when Xbox games come to PlayStation? <v Speaker 1>This is from Eddie McCoo at GameSpot. <v Speaker 2>The newest big Xbox exclusive game, Indiana Jones in the <v Speaker 2>Great Circle, is officially available for everyone today December ninth, <v Speaker 2>That is, if you own an Xbox or a PC <v Speaker 2>or subscribe to game Pass Ultimate. The Aventure game doesn't <v Speaker 2>come to PlayStation five until Spring twenty twenty five. And <v Speaker 2>a new interview, Xbox President of Game Content and Studios <v Speaker 2>Matt Booty elaborated on Microsoft's decision making process when it <v Speaker 2>comes to bring in Xbox games to rifle platforms. We <v Speaker 2>are very much making the ex exclusivity and windowing decisions <v Speaker 2>on a game by game basis, Booty told Variety, echoing <v Speaker 2>comments he and other Xbox executives have made before on <v Speaker 2>to say that each of Microsoft's and numerous studios are <v Speaker 2>in a little bit of a different position, but he <v Speaker 2>didn't elaborate about what this means as it relates to exclusivity. <v Speaker 2>Beyond that, the decision on spacing when a game might <v Speaker 2>come to a rifle platform after Xbox needs needs to <v Speaker 2>also factor in production timelines. <v Speaker 1>Booty said, we. <v Speaker 2>Want to make sure there's a great experience for our <v Speaker 2>Xbox players, and then the gap between when it becomes <v Speaker 2>available on PlayStation is as much a production decision as <v Speaker 2>it is anything else. This is a game that was <v Speaker 2>the in production before we acquired Bethesda. Even Booty said <v Speaker 2>Microsoft announced that what acquires any Max blah blah blah <v Speaker 2>back in the day. Yeah, I mean it's kind of <v Speaker 2>it is a lot of what we've heard, we've heard before. <v Speaker 2>But I guess part of me is like wondering, say, hey, <v Speaker 2>you are doing the same song and dance here as <v Speaker 2>you've been doing for a long time with this stuff, <v Speaker 2>has nothing changed, or like, is it really still game <v Speaker 2>by game that they're making these decisions? And I suppose <v Speaker 2>they could say yes, and it probably is technically true. <v Speaker 4>Right, it's case by case. <v Speaker 5>The problem is I think each case is going to <v Speaker 5>start having similar answers. <v Speaker 1>Yes, I think so. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, Indiana Jones kind of coming this late to PlayStation, <v Speaker 5>I just sort of attributed that to being a bit <v Speaker 5>of a late decision, right. <v Speaker 4>I think early on they're like, you know, you know, <v Speaker 4>we know. <v Speaker 5>This is going to really you know, help game pass <v Speaker 5>and that's going to be enough and up fromot the <v Speaker 5>Xbox brand, and you know, I think it became pretty <v Speaker 5>clearer that, no, the strategy is going to be more <v Speaker 5>about just selling games. If we want to sell the <v Speaker 5>most games, we probably should be on PlayStation. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I think they are just kind of balancing between what <v Speaker 2>key performance metrics they are most concerned with at any <v Speaker 2>one time, And you know, a couple of years ago <v Speaker 2>it was definitely growing game Pass, and now following the <v Speaker 2>acquisition of Activision, I think they're looking at we want <v Speaker 2>every game to kind of make as much money as <v Speaker 2>it possibly can, and I think that, you know, that <v Speaker 2>would have vast implications for like what things you value. <v Speaker 2>And I think at the same time, it's like, well, <v Speaker 2>we do still value growing game pass and growing next <v Speaker 2>to a certain degree and keeping this fan base happy. <v Speaker 2>So how can we play this out? And I think <v Speaker 2>you end up in a situation like you're in with <v Speaker 2>Indiana Jones, where it is, Hey, let's release it on <v Speaker 2>Xbox first, Let's have a small exclusivity window. They release <v Speaker 2>it on PlayStation five pretty quickly after. That does give <v Speaker 2>the team some time to make sure that the PlayStation <v Speaker 2>five version is even better and so they can have <v Speaker 2>that ready to go for that even bigger audience. <v Speaker 1>And in the meantime, we'll make as much money from <v Speaker 1>this game as we possibly can. <v Speaker 2>Without like putting ourselves in a situation we're trying to <v Speaker 2>cram another version of it on launch day. So yeah, <v Speaker 2>I could see ow they're serving all these different masters <v Speaker 2>and how those masters have changed over time. <v Speaker 1>And I think you're. <v Speaker 2>Right that as as this stuff can like trends in <v Speaker 2>this direction, it's just going to trend harder in this <v Speaker 2>direction going forward, so that as they ask themselves these questions, <v Speaker 2>the answer will be very similar each time. <v Speaker 5>It's just it's interesting watching the whole kind of you know, <v Speaker 5>these these services kind of lose favor release with the <v Speaker 5>CEOs and investors because when you first launched one, that's <v Speaker 5>a big boost, right, yep. <v Speaker 1>The problem is it's hard. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, it's disruptive, but then you it's hard for it <v Speaker 5>to grow at a certain point and you don't get <v Speaker 5>spikes anymore, right, you don't get surprise, major hit. <v Speaker 4>Really you know, helped push us in this quarter. <v Speaker 5>Like when I was watching w Wana Too, I was thinking, like, man, <v Speaker 5>this movie's making you know, a billion dollars and it <v Speaker 5>was just going to be a Disney Plus show. And <v Speaker 5>sure a lot of people would have watched it on <v Speaker 5>Disney Plus, and I guess it would it be good <v Speaker 5>for retention, It would have brought some people back, but <v Speaker 5>it wouldn't have led to like this spike in pure <v Speaker 5>revenue in the way that releasing an theaters would. And <v Speaker 5>it's the same thing with in Indiana Jones. For them, <v Speaker 5>I suppose right, like, yeah, it'd be good for game <v Speaker 5>Pass if it's you know, this Xbox exclusive. You know <v Speaker 5>what's better than that just sell a lot of copies <v Speaker 5>and making a lot of money. <v Speaker 1>Yep. <v Speaker 2>I think they are just back to being like, we <v Speaker 2>can't ignore that, you know. I think for a while <v Speaker 2>they had all these reasons why that wouldn't matter, and <v Speaker 2>things changed, and now they very much matter again. <v Speaker 1>I gotta say I'm very much enjoying the Great Circle <v Speaker 1>once again. Sorry I joked about you not like nothing. <v Speaker 2>It's funny, Yeah, yeah, it's Uh. It does have a <v Speaker 2>slow start, and I think the first couple of big areas, <v Speaker 2>you really can get out of the pacing and just <v Speaker 2>spend so much time there. And I think the things <v Speaker 2>you're doing going back and forth and just sort of <v Speaker 2>checking a box, be like all right, now I'm gonna <v Speaker 2>go back here and check a different box. <v Speaker 1>Is very routine and wrote. <v Speaker 2>But I think if you are happy, like just like <v Speaker 2>doing some of that stuff, and then if you if <v Speaker 2>you get a little bit bored just zoom over to <v Speaker 2>the story story quests as quickly as possible and move <v Speaker 2>it along yourself. <v Speaker 1>And then once you get past the second big open <v Speaker 1>major area. <v Speaker 2>It just goes and there's so much cool stuff. There's <v Speaker 2>so many things, but it's like, man, this is some <v Speaker 2>of my favorite things I like seen visually that they're <v Speaker 2>messing around with in an Indiana Jones story. So yeah, <v Speaker 2>I'm I'm very much on board with this game at <v Speaker 2>this point. Well, still recognizing my early issues with the game, <v Speaker 2>which haven't gone away. It's just like they aren't well, <v Speaker 2>they've gone away in the parts of the game I'm playing, <v Speaker 2>but I still feel those things about the early part <v Speaker 2>of the game. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. <v Speaker 5>I'm gonna I'm gonna start playing it after we get <v Speaker 5>through the game awards things like that. Then I'm going <v Speaker 5>to just sort of dive in there. I'm gonna stream it. <v Speaker 5>We have a game club over at the game mess channel. <v Speaker 5>We're all playing this one, So I'm going to delete <v Speaker 5>a discussion on that eventually. But yeah, my brother started <v Speaker 5>it last night. <v Speaker 4>I think it. <v Speaker 5>They seem very happy. Chris Big Indiana Jones fan. Chris <v Speaker 5>really likes Indie he used to buy those weird books <v Speaker 5>like Indiana Jones and The Dinosaur Egg and. <v Speaker 4>Stuff like that. Oh so he's happy, that's all. <v Speaker 1>I'm glad. <v Speaker 2>I bet he was very excited about that intro, which <v Speaker 2>is very very cool. <v Speaker 3>All right, let's take a quick break. <v Speaker 2>When we come back, we will talk about well, Michelle <v Speaker 2>Ansel is out there speaking about uvsoft and Ubisoft's in <v Speaker 2>a lot of trouble. We'll get into all that right <v Speaker 2>after this. <v Speaker 1>How do be Soft? <v Speaker 2>All right, we are back and let's get into it. <v Speaker 2>Michelle on Cell claims Beyond Good and Evil to development <v Speaker 2>hindered by problems between managers. <v Speaker 1>This is from Chris Scully and. <v Speaker 4>At VGC before you even sorry. <v Speaker 5>One of my favorite things about reading the story was <v Speaker 5>finding out, oh wait, he's one of the managers. <v Speaker 3>Yes exactly. <v Speaker 1>It's like he's wearing the hot dogs sit Yes exactly. <v Speaker 1>Uh huh. <v Speaker 2>Rayvan and Beyond Good and Evil creator Michelle on Sell <v Speaker 2>has shed more light on the development issues faced by <v Speaker 2>Beyond Good and Evil to blaming management conflicts. The sequel <v Speaker 2>was originally announced back in two thousand and eight, and <v Speaker 2>despite a re reveal in twenty seventeen, there's still been <v Speaker 2>no sign of a release anytime soon. On Cell left <v Speaker 2>Ubisoft in twenty twenty, saying he was leaving the video <v Speaker 2>game industry entirely to focus on a new career in <v Speaker 2>Wildlife Now. In a new interview with super Povol, on <v Speaker 2>Cell has given in his view on what went wrong <v Speaker 2>with Beyond Good and Evil two during this time his <v Speaker 2>time at the company, saying he felt that clashes between <v Speaker 2>management were the main issue. <v Speaker 1>On some projects. <v Speaker 2>We set ourselves huge challenges and take on teams with passion, <v Speaker 2>but without knowing how long and complex the road ahead <v Speaker 2>will be. On Sel explained, passion is a fabulous energy, <v Speaker 2>but it can also lead to clashes between enthusiasts. On <v Speaker 2>Beyond Gooding Evil two, for example, there were too many <v Speaker 2>problems between managers. The art director wanted to redo everything <v Speaker 2>over and over again, the game director wanted to make <v Speaker 2>a generate a dungeon game, and I was dreaming of <v Speaker 2>a space adventure. We simply couldn't agree, and the game <v Speaker 2>director took the project in other directions. In this type <v Speaker 2>of situation, the teams are thrown around and don't even <v Speaker 2>know who's in charge and who's making the decisions. The <v Speaker 2>producer is supposed to bring order to the situation, but <v Speaker 2>that didn't happen. Eaves Gimmeaut even had to go down <v Speaker 2>to Montpellier to get things back on track, but that <v Speaker 2>wasn't enough, and the game director continued his in his stubbornness, <v Speaker 2>I'm surprised to hear that eve Gimo couldn't solve something. <v Speaker 5>That's just shocking me to bring it together. <v Speaker 2>That's one. That's one strike for our boy, one strike man, man. <v Speaker 1>That's weird. Yeah, go ahead, I don't get it. <v Speaker 5>And so it should be the guy who has the <v Speaker 5>final say, right, like if he wants a space adventure <v Speaker 5>and they probably were promoting and marketing as space adventure, <v Speaker 5>how is that not the game that they were making? Gosh, <v Speaker 5>everything about Beyond Good and Evil too, It is just <v Speaker 5>so freaking weird weirdst of all the fact that it's <v Speaker 5>still coming and they like heavily teased and promoted it <v Speaker 5>in that recent Beyond Good and Evil remaster. <v Speaker 2>Yep, Yeah, it's something that they have explicitly said is <v Speaker 2>still coming. They're still working on it without and they've <v Speaker 2>been working on it without Michelle himself. <v Speaker 1>For years now, and who. <v Speaker 2>Knows what this game looks like because, as he's saying, like, <v Speaker 2>while he was there, he had no idea what it was. <v Speaker 2>The people working for him had no idea what it was, <v Speaker 2>and it kept changing constantly. So whenever we talk about <v Speaker 2>this game, I'm always like, yeah, I mean, come out, <v Speaker 2>but it won't be that game. <v Speaker 1>And it's like, I feel more confident about that than ever. <v Speaker 2>This is just who when we see this next it <v Speaker 2>will be like, oh, oh they're doing this now. <v Speaker 1>Well. <v Speaker 5>But here's my thing with Beyond Good and Evil too, <v Speaker 5>How the hell does that game make any money? It's <v Speaker 5>a sequel that's not really a sequel to a game <v Speaker 5>that flaumped and I like it. I like Beyond Good <v Speaker 5>and Evil, but you know, you want to strike while. <v Speaker 4>The iron is hot. Young was never hot? <v Speaker 5>What alone twenty something years later and now it's gonna <v Speaker 5>be some completely different thing, not a Zelda clone anymore. <v Speaker 5>Here's here's my new theory about what's gonna happen with <v Speaker 5>Beyond is That is that no one there is wants <v Speaker 5>to cancel it because of sunk you know, cost, fallacy <v Speaker 5>or whatever. And once Zuopiesoft gets sold to ten Set <v Speaker 5>or whatever, they're gonna take a look at it and say, <v Speaker 5>what the fuck is this and they're. <v Speaker 4>Gonna cancel it? <v Speaker 1>That sounds very plausible. <v Speaker 2>I think that the reason that they were teasing it <v Speaker 2>so hard in the last and the Beyond Good and <v Speaker 2>Evil remaster is they have internally rebooted it as once. <v Speaker 1>Again, just as Zelda Clone, and it'll come out and. <v Speaker 2>It'll be pretty basic, uh, and not have what should <v Speaker 2>have always have been. It's gonna be what it should <v Speaker 2>have always been, but like at a reduced scale, probably <v Speaker 2>than what it would like what the amount of time <v Speaker 2>would suggest is gonna happen with this game. <v Speaker 5>So, like, how well do you think that remastered it? <v Speaker 5>I liked that remaster a lot, Okay, maybe numbers, Yeah, <v Speaker 5>It's like, you know, remember how you know who was it? <v Speaker 5>THHQ or whatever they're called now, was like that Epic <v Speaker 5>Mickey remaster didn't do very well, but you think you <v Speaker 5>think the Beyond Good and Evil remaster did much better <v Speaker 5>than that? <v Speaker 1>Now I don't. <v Speaker 5>And it's like do you look at that, like, well, <v Speaker 5>why is the sequel to this gonna suddenly make money? <v Speaker 1>Right? <v Speaker 5>And look I'm all for I'm like, I like Beyond <v Speaker 5>Good Evil, I want a sequel, but man, I just <v Speaker 5>don't understand how that works out. <v Speaker 2>Yep, I'm I'm I've always felt that way, like this <v Speaker 2>never made that much sense to me, and every single <v Speaker 2>day it makes less and less. <v Speaker 5>It would have made sense if in two thousand and <v Speaker 5>nine you just released that sequel on Xbox three sixty <v Speaker 5>was an actual sequel and was just as zel a <v Speaker 5>game whatever. <v Speaker 4>But this thing this weird. <v Speaker 5>You know. The only actual product we ever got out <v Speaker 5>of this were overly expensive CG trailers where a monkey <v Speaker 5>said fuck a lot right to show us how edgy <v Speaker 5>and cool it is gonna be just one of the <v Speaker 5>most bizarre projects in gaming history. <v Speaker 1>Yep. <v Speaker 2>He he also he had some other stuff to say. <v Speaker 2>I didn't include it, but he was basically just kind <v Speaker 2>of saying, like, yeah, Ubi, Steff's got lots of problems, <v Speaker 2>and he was talking a lot of smack. Now, Michelle <v Speaker 2>n Sell, like, I think was he like left to <v Speaker 2>go work in wildlife, But it sounded like he had. <v Speaker 1>Been dismissed for toxic management patterns. <v Speaker 5>And there's been accusations there right his finger pointing, but <v Speaker 5>he's what does he mean working wildlife? <v Speaker 2>I think he was like going to go work with animals, like, <v Speaker 2>I don't know, we bought a zoo. It's a true <v Speaker 2>story about Michelle. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, true story. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 4>Oh man, what a career shift, all right? <v Speaker 1>Yep, I mean, hey, follow your passion, I guess. <v Speaker 2>And well, the monkeys can't get mad when when you're <v Speaker 2>a toxic manager to them, or they can't. <v Speaker 1>They just can't tell anybody, So maybe. <v Speaker 4>Even there, he's still like, I'm not sure who's in charge. <v Speaker 5>I thought it was supposed to be me, but this <v Speaker 5>person yells a lot, so I don't know. <v Speaker 3>And I called down Yeeves and he didn't fucking help. <v Speaker 5>So yeah, he just came in with his quiet voice <v Speaker 5>and said them things about how we're a family, and <v Speaker 5>then like left. <v Speaker 2>We are all monkeys inside. <v Speaker 1>I'll be a problem about it, all right. <v Speaker 2>Marvel Rivals gets ten million players in the first three days. <v Speaker 1>This is from Chris Scullion at VGC. <v Speaker 2>Marvel Rivals has reached ten million players in the first <v Speaker 2>three days. Ease has confirmed. The news was announced on <v Speaker 2>the game's official Twitter account, where net E's thanked players <v Speaker 2>for reaching the ten million player milestone in. <v Speaker 1>Just seventy two hours. <v Speaker 2>Yeah they everyone's playing this game. Huh God, this popped off. <v Speaker 5>Sounds like a Path of Exile too, also popping off <v Speaker 5>pretty hard. So yeah, yeah, pretty pretty good weekend here <v Speaker 5>for these free to play games. Marvel Rivals, you know, <v Speaker 5>had that very successful open beta. I think that there <v Speaker 5>are a lot of fans of Hero Shooters have been <v Speaker 5>waiting for a new one that does just feel a <v Speaker 5>lot like overwatching. This shirt does feel a lot like overwatched, <v Speaker 5>sometimes shamelessly, but they're doing enough stuff here, like this <v Speaker 5>was Star Wars Now too, as I say, as I'm <v Speaker 5>wearing this star Vader's shirt, where it's like, if you <v Speaker 5>ask me how I feel about Star Wars or Marble Now, <v Speaker 5>I'm like, eh, yeah, yeah, you got a Star Wars <v Speaker 5>or two. But what's like something comes out that is <v Speaker 5>kind of good and fun. I'm like, oh, this stuff's neat. <v Speaker 5>I get to play as Captain America. I like him <v Speaker 5>right right, And they have a really they have a <v Speaker 5>big cast of characters in their right away. They got <v Speaker 5>a good mix of the standards and quit interpretations of <v Speaker 5>the standards, and they're like some weird deep cuts people <v Speaker 5>don't even know, Like this shark, this land shark named Jeff, <v Speaker 5>who's a healer basically kind of a Moira thing going <v Speaker 5>on there, but I'm like, this is kind of a fun, <v Speaker 5>cute looking character. <v Speaker 4>So yeah, it's been good to play. <v Speaker 5>Now it's been a little unstable for me, which is <v Speaker 5>probably related to the ten million players. <v Speaker 1>It was. <v Speaker 5>They got four hundred thousand concurrens on Steam shortly after launching, right, <v Speaker 5>So yeah, it's a it's a big hit. I'm sure <v Speaker 5>their servers are getting slammed. It'll be interesting to see <v Speaker 5>if they can keep that momentum up here, right, because <v Speaker 5>I mean, hey, there was a time we're Overwatch was <v Speaker 5>the bigges thing world. It still makes money, but it's <v Speaker 5>very different from that game of the year prestigious Overwatch <v Speaker 5>and the Overwatch now that's doing an Avatar Last Airbender <v Speaker 5>collaboration for skins, right exactly. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean what do you think it takes to <v Speaker 2>kind of you know, we say keep momentum. We're not <v Speaker 2>talking about always having you know, five hundred thousand concurrent players, <v Speaker 2>although some games do do that, like like two or <v Speaker 2>three games do that, but like, you know, how can <v Speaker 2>it maintain around eighty thousand concurrents going forward? Like does <v Speaker 2>it just always have to be dropping new characters just <v Speaker 2>or what like how like what didn't do different than <v Speaker 2>what Overwatch did. <v Speaker 5>Maybe you can actually have that that co op campaign <v Speaker 5>that overwes sure canceled, right, just steal it? Yeah? <v Speaker 4>Fun, Yeah, I would enjoy that. That might be something. <v Speaker 2>Yep, I have not touched it since I played it <v Speaker 2>in the beta. I really enjoyed in the beta, But <v Speaker 2>I do see. I've seen some clips of people like <v Speaker 2>Andy Cortes was just going on a killing spree in <v Speaker 2>one match and it was like he was like laughing, <v Speaker 2>like cackling. Oh my god, this game was fun. I <v Speaker 2>should get back into it. So we'll try to make <v Speaker 2>that happen when we get back from LA. <v Speaker 1>Everybody place them on the website, all right. <v Speaker 2>Speaking of successful launches four big games, Path of XL <v Speaker 2>two sets new record with over five hundred thousand concurrent players. <v Speaker 2>This is from Marcus Person at Game Reactor. Path of <v Speaker 2>XL two has reached an impressive milestone during its early <v Speaker 2>access phase with over five hundred thousand concurrent players on Steam. <v Speaker 2>This achievement not only highlights the game's popularity, but also <v Speaker 2>places it among the most played titles in Steam's history. <v Speaker 2>Jonathan Rodgers, co founder of grinding Gear Games recently shared <v Speaker 2>a video that over one million keys for Path of <v Speaker 2>XL two have been redeemed since its launch, despite the <v Speaker 2>company increasing server capacity. Oh However, he warned of potential <v Speaker 2>cues to the unexpectedly high demand despite the company increasing <v Speaker 2>server capacity with additional resources. Path of XL two builds <v Speaker 2>on the dark and intricate world of Rare or colassed <v Speaker 2>as the name of the world I suppose, offering players <v Speaker 2>a rich narrative, extensive character customization, and blah blah blah. Yeah, Hey, <v Speaker 2>this game is the one that people are like, Hey, <v Speaker 2>this is gonna be big, you should be playing it. <v Speaker 2>I'm like, yeah, I would love to make time for this, <v Speaker 2>just it's coming out at a bad time for me personally. <v Speaker 2>But when I get back, I think this is another <v Speaker 2>one I want to like spend some time with. Uh <v Speaker 2>did you ever play Path of Exile just a little bit. <v Speaker 5>I couldn't quite get into it, but I always found interesting. <v Speaker 5>You know, we're here with this tiny domino of Diablo three, <v Speaker 5>sort of disappointing Diablo two players, which led to this <v Speaker 5>migration to the original Path of Exile, And here we <v Speaker 5>are at the launch of the sequel, and you know, <v Speaker 5>I've been hearing very good things. I have curious to <v Speaker 5>try it because you know, Diabo four had its expansion <v Speaker 5>come out this year. <v Speaker 4>I just have had a hard time getting into it. <v Speaker 5>I'm usually, you know, I like Diablo a lot, usually <v Speaker 5>at least play through the new big expansions and things <v Speaker 5>like that. <v Speaker 4>So and I'm not sure what it is about. <v Speaker 5>I don't know if it's a problem with me in <v Speaker 5>the genre, if it's a problem with me and Diablo <v Speaker 5>four right now specifically. But I'll be pretty happy to <v Speaker 5>give Paths of Exile to a chance here. I think <v Speaker 5>your Path of XL one did have something about it's <v Speaker 5>free to play in this that Yeah, it was a <v Speaker 5>little one appetizing to me, and it's it had like <v Speaker 5>a sphere grid skill tree system like Prophecy ten, which <v Speaker 5>sounds cool. And then I would look at it and <v Speaker 5>even I would kind of be like, yeah, that's where <v Speaker 5>you go look up a guide and you find out <v Speaker 5>where you're supposed to click on. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, do the thing I'm supposed to do. <v Speaker 5>So just see what progression looks like, what customization looks like, <v Speaker 5>and how the game feels. But yeah, it's a you know, <v Speaker 5>we kept playing a lot about the same games at <v Speaker 5>the top a lot of time, Jeff. So good to <v Speaker 5>see some new stuff you're performing well. <v Speaker 2>Definitely and like And to see a free to play <v Speaker 2>game get a sequel and have that do very well. <v Speaker 2>That doesn't always happen either. A lot of times they <v Speaker 2>come out and people like, I'm just gonnakeep playing the <v Speaker 2>first one because this new one doesn't have the one <v Speaker 2>specific future I want, So it sucks. It's definitely happened <v Speaker 2>to some games, and this one seems to be skirting <v Speaker 2>that at least. Uh In the time you did play <v Speaker 2>Path of Exile, do you remember what the the monetization <v Speaker 2>was like, because I've heard like, it's free to play, <v Speaker 2>and then I've heard some people go like, it's look, <v Speaker 2>it's not really free to play, like you can really <v Speaker 2>spend a lot of money, and you probably should be. <v Speaker 1>I don't know, I have no idea, no frame of reference. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I mean, I'm not an expert. <v Speaker 5>My remembrance of Pathecs, I once just that it has <v Speaker 5>you know, a lot of expansions and big story content <v Speaker 5>drops and you pay for those, okay, and then I'm <v Speaker 5>sure there's other things I forget if it did straight <v Speaker 5>up like here's a level of potion to increase your <v Speaker 5>exp gains or things like that. Uh not it says you, <v Speaker 5>uh you pay for more stash tabs. Yeah, things like that. <v Speaker 5>Like that's the thing that I'm gonta be like. But <v Speaker 5>it could It could just as easily not be a problem. <v Speaker 5>Mike is incorrect and no pay to win. Okay, Well <v Speaker 5>wasn't incorrect. I was saying I didn't know if they was, <v Speaker 5>to be clear, So no, no XP stuff at least, all. <v Speaker 1>Right, Okay? <v Speaker 2>Uh yeah, I mean sounds like this game is gonna <v Speaker 2>make a lot of money. It's gonna do very well, <v Speaker 2>and I'm interested to try it myself. <v Speaker 3>All right, let's get over to Fortnite, where a lot <v Speaker 3>is happening. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>Fortnite goes first person with Ballistic, a tactical five v <v Speaker 2>five shooter, in early access starting December eleventh. This come <v Speaker 2>from the Fortnite team's blog post Welcome to Ballistic, a <v Speaker 2>new first person Fortnite experience launching in early access on <v Speaker 2>December eleventh with ranked plus unranked modes. Ballistic is an <v Speaker 2>adrenaline filled, round based five v five competitive game mode <v Speaker 2>where strategy tentacle. Teamwork and individual prowess are essential for victory. <v Speaker 2>You know, you go round by round. Here it says <v Speaker 2>you start with let's see, you'll start the game with <v Speaker 2>a ranger pistol in eight hundred credits and ballistic credits <v Speaker 2>can be earned from scoring eliminations and planning the rift <v Speaker 2>point device. It's counter strike, yes, exactly, counter They are <v Speaker 2>putting counter strike. <v Speaker 3>In Fortnite, and like, on one hand, why not? <v Speaker 2>And on the other hand, I'm like, I don't want <v Speaker 2>every game to just be in Fortnite. <v Speaker 3>I don't know why, but I do feel that way. <v Speaker 5>The whole Fortnite as a platform for games things has <v Speaker 5>been weird. It's right now, this is weirder than when <v Speaker 5>they're just throwing in completely different things that had nothing <v Speaker 5>to do with Fortnite. Like they put Guitar Hero with Fortnite, <v Speaker 5>they put a racing game in Fortnite. <v Speaker 4>They put that weird uh. <v Speaker 5>That weird Lego survival game in Fortnite, and that was <v Speaker 5>all strange, and that was just here's counter strike but <v Speaker 5>in Fortnite, and it's first person. Hey, Epic Epic Games <v Speaker 5>is making a first person shooter again. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I guess that's something. <v Speaker 5>We go, gosh, yeah, I'm curious because you know, counter <v Speaker 5>Strike two is already doing pretty well, and there's also. <v Speaker 1>Valoriurent doing very well. <v Speaker 5>Yes, right, so it's Fortnite, so there's always a chance <v Speaker 5>that pops off. But boy, that genre is already being served. <v Speaker 5>I mean we saw for how long the Moba seem <v Speaker 5>was just pretty much good with Doda two in League <v Speaker 5>of Legends, right, and you would have some smaller hits <v Speaker 5>here and there, like smites or things like that. But <v Speaker 5>I don't know if I don't know if Epic is <v Speaker 5>hoping for a smaller hit here. <v Speaker 1>Yep. <v Speaker 2>It's like they're starting off with like the Skyline ten map. <v Speaker 2>It's got the spray handed b on the wall with <v Speaker 2>an arrow pointing where to go. <v Speaker 1>I mean, yeah, it is it is? <v Speaker 4>Can that be with the spray Yes? <v Speaker 2>Wow exactly, Like oh wow, yeah, I'm not someone who's <v Speaker 2>played a million hours of counter Strike, but I see that. <v Speaker 1>I'm like, oh my god, my Counterstrike alarm has gone <v Speaker 1>off here. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. Look, I think you're right. It's Fortnite, so there's <v Speaker 2>a chance. I think there's probably more than just a <v Speaker 2>chance because it is Fortnite and these modes are popular <v Speaker 2>for a reason. The counter Strike is always you know, <v Speaker 2>around a million concurrent players or something like that. You know, <v Speaker 2>it hovers up and down, but very frequently a lot <v Speaker 2>of people playing that game. Valorant probably very similar. I <v Speaker 2>think that there probably is a chance this game could <v Speaker 2>and can take on some of that audience and then <v Speaker 2>maybe introduce a Fortnite audience to this, but I think <v Speaker 2>it will be the third wheel there, and in most <v Speaker 2>situations still, I'm like, I'm curious to see what what <v Speaker 2>it actually plays like. <v Speaker 1>But I don't know. <v Speaker 2>Part of me is like, if I was gonna do this, <v Speaker 2>I would probably just want to go play some Valorant <v Speaker 2>or counter Strike, but who. <v Speaker 4>Knows, you know, you know, it's Epic Games. <v Speaker 5>They had an opportunity here to be like, hey, we're <v Speaker 5>gonna make a new first person competitive mode. It could <v Speaker 5>have made a new arena issue or something like that, <v Speaker 5>and that would have been maybe a bit more interesting <v Speaker 5>to me. <v Speaker 1>But then again, I'm old, yeah, yeah, I'm wondering. <v Speaker 2>This is just gonna be me having to get used <v Speaker 2>to this where it's like, instead of these companies that <v Speaker 2>have the resources to make brand new games, they're just <v Speaker 2>saying Hey, come back into our metaverse that we've built here, <v Speaker 2>and here's the latest game where all your stuff that <v Speaker 2>you purchase is going to carry out. Like I looking <v Speaker 2>on paper, the reasons to do it in Fortnite are, <v Speaker 2>It's a lengthy list. There are so many reasons why <v Speaker 2>this makes sense. It keeps people like bouncing between the <v Speaker 2>other modes. It makes it so you don't have to <v Speaker 2>build a whole new ecosystem and monetization scheme. All the <v Speaker 2>stuff people are already buying. You just say, now you <v Speaker 2>can use those v bucks over here as well, and <v Speaker 2>when you buy something for the main mode, it will <v Speaker 2>work over here. That's gonna be very appealing to people. <v Speaker 2>I just I'm at a point where I like it <v Speaker 2>when something new, completely fresh comes out from these companies. <v Speaker 2>And it sounds like a company like Epic is just <v Speaker 2>done doing that. So if I were in their situation, <v Speaker 2>I'd probably make the same choice as someone who's purchasing <v Speaker 2>games or looking to. <v Speaker 1>Spend time in games. I'm a little bit disappointed with <v Speaker 1>that with this trend personally. <v Speaker 5>All Right, it's funny, like, yep, the game store didn't <v Speaker 5>really pop off, But what if this Fortnite is the store, right, yeah, <v Speaker 5>that is just that's the launcher now. Gosh, yeah, it'll <v Speaker 5>be interesting to see how this does, because you know, <v Speaker 5>I can see a ward war becomes the biggest thing, <v Speaker 5>of course, yeah, of course, and you can see a <v Speaker 5>world word it is ignored completely. <v Speaker 2>Yep, all right, then more with Fortnite. Lego Fortnite is <v Speaker 2>adding a new social roleplay experience called brick Life. This <v Speaker 2>is from uh oh it's okay. There's a Jan note <v Speaker 2>here that says this should have been called bricked Up. <v Speaker 1>Thank you so much, Jan. <v Speaker 4>Thank you for making a bricked up joke before me. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>This is from tom ive and at VGC. Lego Fortnite <v Speaker 2>is introducing a new social roleplay experience called a Bricked Up, <v Speaker 2>launching on December twelfth. It will let users explore a <v Speaker 2>Lego city, build home, socialize, and work different jobs. As <v Speaker 2>you explore this bustling city with up to thirty one <v Speaker 2>other players, you'll find it's full of interesting locales to <v Speaker 2>explore and landmarks to admire, Lego said. Visit the Cozy <v Speaker 2>Pause Cafe at the Beach, or meet friends for a <v Speaker 2>coffee at the town Square. Purchase and decorate your home <v Speaker 2>with a wide range of Lego furniture and take on <v Speaker 2>an assortment of jobs, from a mystical fortune teller to <v Speaker 2>the hard working sushi chef and even more mischievous scoundrel. <v Speaker 2>Brick Life was announced on Monday as part of a <v Speaker 2>wider revamp of Lego Fortnite. Starting on December tenth, Lego <v Speaker 2>Fortnite will be its own category in Fortnite's Discover section, <v Speaker 2>acting as a central destination for all Lego experiences. Okay, yes, <v Speaker 2>so I mean this is GTA online roleplay servers, right, <v Speaker 2>that's what the sounds like. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, in some ways that makes more that seems more <v Speaker 5>interesting to me than that survival game that they had. <v Speaker 2>Yes, same, It's also like, yeah, because there's this has <v Speaker 2>not been a space that's been super exports survival games <v Speaker 2>like though you get one of those in early access <v Speaker 2>on Steam every week. <v Speaker 1>So I. <v Speaker 2>Wonder is the audience that's watching a lot of gt <v Speaker 2>g T a online role play They probably are pretty young. <v Speaker 2>That probably is an audience excuse. <v Speaker 5>Relatively you And I mean you know it's adjacent to <v Speaker 5>that too, is roadblocks. <v Speaker 1>Right, Yeah, good point, Yes, exactly. <v Speaker 2>So I think maybe this could be a good way <v Speaker 2>to sort of make that work inside of Fortnite, part <v Speaker 2>of me thinks that like the underlying sort of dirt <v Speaker 2>bagness of the GTA world where it enables people to like, like, <v Speaker 2>it's interesting in gt online to be a citizen that <v Speaker 2>obeys the rules, that's because it's like, all of these <v Speaker 2>things are there for you to be, like a bad <v Speaker 2>person or to do crimes, and by ignoring that and <v Speaker 2>role playing against, like against the character that the game <v Speaker 2>expects you to be, that creates these interesting dynamics. I <v Speaker 2>wonder if the same sort of sense, that same sense <v Speaker 2>will happen in something like this, where it's like clearly <v Speaker 2>built to be, like, hey, you just go be a <v Speaker 2>sushi chef. <v Speaker 1>That's what the game was made to do. <v Speaker 2>Because the roleplay stuff sort of got glombed on top <v Speaker 2>of GTA Online without any real input from rock Star. <v Speaker 2>So I just wonder if the role playing community is <v Speaker 2>going to adopt this, or maybe it's like it's gonna <v Speaker 2>be something different on its own, where it's like it's <v Speaker 2>the roleplay stuff is demphasized. <v Speaker 1>I don't know, I don't know what to expect here. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, dare We're right. I do wonder how much actual <v Speaker 5>role playing will be going on here. If they want <v Speaker 5>everybody to just be like that character from the Lego movie, right, <v Speaker 5>just kind of going around Lego World and being really <v Speaker 5>happy about it, that might wear thin for people for <v Speaker 5>a bit going into their sushi job, like doing at <v Speaker 5>night them biery there, right, people want to rob banks <v Speaker 5>and you know, do other illicit activities and look, something <v Speaker 5>that's gonna prop up here too, and it'll be just <v Speaker 5>to see how they handle all that stuff. Well, it's interesting, <v Speaker 5>is just that, at least to me, at the games <v Speaker 5>is in this position where they could just make so <v Speaker 5>many bets like this, like why not make our own <v Speaker 5>counter Strike. We can have our own GTA online with Legos. <v Speaker 5>If it hits, it hits, that's more mine. It's great. <v Speaker 4>And if it fails, so fucking what we still have Fortnite, yes, exactly. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, And it's uh, it does feel like big bets. <v Speaker 2>It feels like, hey, let's try something that if it <v Speaker 2>does work, could be huge and a whole other pillar <v Speaker 2>alongside Fortnite. And if it doesn't work out, you're right, <v Speaker 2>we still have Fortnite. I you know, I'm not someone <v Speaker 2>that will ever even checked out the Guitar Hero stuff <v Speaker 2>or the the kart racing game they put in there <v Speaker 2>that is based on Rocket League and things like that. <v Speaker 2>And I've never played the lego stuff inside of Fortnite, <v Speaker 2>so as these things get announced, I'm like, ah, yeah, maybe, <v Speaker 2>and then when it's time to go play Fortnite, we <v Speaker 2>just go play the base Fortnite or the batter Royale game. <v Speaker 2>But clearly they have a captive audience in a lot <v Speaker 2>of ways, people who just experience games by going to <v Speaker 2>play Fortnite with their friends and offering them more ways <v Speaker 2>to expand on that and spend more money. That seems <v Speaker 2>to be the strategy here, and I think things like <v Speaker 2>this could have an exponential growth factor for them, but <v Speaker 2>we'll see. Okay, last story here. Kroc Legends of the <v Speaker 2>Gobbos Remastered has been delayed. This is from Argonaut Games <v Speaker 2>on Twitter. We have an important update regarding the release <v Speaker 2>of the Legend of the Gobbos remaster. After careful, careful consideration, <v Speaker 2>we have decided to push the launch into Q one <v Speaker 2>twenty twenty five. This decision was not made lightly, but <v Speaker 2>we believe that a little more time is needed to <v Speaker 2>add the final touches to ensure the game meets the <v Speaker 2>high standards that we aspire to in which you deserve. <v Speaker 1>Listen. I like Kroc fine, but I mean. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, high standards. Look their Krock. Come on, man, this <v Speaker 2>is fine, just put it out. But whatever I recognized, <v Speaker 2>maybe there's some other stuff going on there, bugs and <v Speaker 2>things that they don't want to ruin the experience. But yeah, <v Speaker 2>I want to play these games again, even if I'm <v Speaker 2>like yeah on them. <v Speaker 1>Any chance you try Krock again, I don't know. <v Speaker 5>I mean, it's weird because that was the tank control <v Speaker 5>three D platform or it's like one of the things <v Speaker 5>you think about three D roomaster or a remaster. It's like, oh, <v Speaker 5>you're gonna gonna add analog controls, probably say, isn't that <v Speaker 5>The point of Kroc is that it's tank control, So <v Speaker 5>how are they handling that in this? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? <v Speaker 5>No, I don't care either way. Though I'm not playing Kroc. <v Speaker 5>I don't know if it's a Crock. The one thing <v Speaker 5>I like about Kroc is the story about how it's <v Speaker 5>supposed to be a Yoshi game. <v Speaker 4>I think that's interesting. <v Speaker 2>Yes, because Argonaut is a team that has relationships with <v Speaker 2>Nintendo and they've made I think Argonaut has made Yoshi <v Speaker 2>games before or after even after this. <v Speaker 1>I think, but yes, that would have been weird. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, there's that story recently about like I forget who <v Speaker 5>wrote it. It was the gaming history as a Nintendo bias. <v Speaker 5>It was talking about Kroc and Benji KAZUOI. It was <v Speaker 5>like Croc sold just as well as Benja Kazuois. Howcome <v Speaker 5>it's not remembered alias Fondle. Like the next paragraph they <v Speaker 5>answered their own question like now bad Joe Tooey sold <v Speaker 5>very well. Well, Kroc two was a flop. It's like, yeah, <v Speaker 5>there's no relevance there, there's no staying power Croc. I'm sorry. <v Speaker 2>One last story here that I saw this briefly. I'm like, <v Speaker 2>I may like hurt my head, but I'll just I'll <v Speaker 2>read the tweet from itch dot io. <v Speaker 3>Oh right, I kid you not. This is from itch itself. <v Speaker 1>I kid you not. Itch Io has been taken down <v Speaker 1>by a by. <v Speaker 2>Funko, the Funko company, because they use some trash AI <v Speaker 2>powered brand protection software called brand Shield Limited that created <v Speaker 2>some bogus fishing report to our registrar, which is like <v Speaker 2>basically I guess this AI software complained that somehow itchio <v Speaker 2>was a phishing scam and complain. <v Speaker 3>To its registrar. All just automated because. <v Speaker 2>It's AI and and it says they complained to the Registar. <v Speaker 2>Funko did, but the Registar ignored the response and just <v Speaker 2>disabled the domain. So it took down all of hio <v Speaker 2>because Funko used some bullshit AI thing. <v Speaker 1>Apparently it is back up. Good good. <v Speaker 2>That's that's that's good to hear, because that's just so stupid. <v Speaker 1>That's wild. That's kind of internet we're on now. It's <v Speaker 1>a weird time. All right. <v Speaker 2>That does it for the headlines. You know what, While <v Speaker 2>while we're doing that, lets I never meant to play <v Speaker 2>this video of the Lego Fortnite Brick Life gameplay thing <v Speaker 2>just so people can see it real quick. All right, <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna get to the pull question here in a second. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, let's just do that. Now, there we go. <v Speaker 2>Uh are you going to play Indiana Jones? And the <v Speaker 2>Great Circle asked this on Monday, or I'm sorry, asked <v Speaker 2>this on Friday. <v Speaker 1>Uh. <v Speaker 2>The results here say thirty one percent say no they're not, <v Speaker 2>but sixty nine percent nice say that they are going <v Speaker 2>to play Indiana Jones in the Great Circle. That's a <v Speaker 2>pretty big response. Usually when you ask questions like this <v Speaker 2>for any game, it's you know, so like fifty percent <v Speaker 2>is kind of the high mark for a lot of <v Speaker 2>these things. This seems to be breaking through one of <v Speaker 2>the one of gonna be like the last big game <v Speaker 2>of the year for Reel. People seem very excited about it. <v Speaker 2>It's out today for real, right, I think? <v Speaker 5>Yeah, I want to play yep, yep, for sure. So yeah, <v Speaker 5>it's just it's just a video game you can play now, yep. <v Speaker 1>Very cool. <v Speaker 2>All right, I have a new poll question. We'll get <v Speaker 2>to that here in a second while I get that <v Speaker 2>set up. Mike, why don't you tell people where they <v Speaker 2>can find you on the internet what you have going on? <v Speaker 2>All that good stuff? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? <v Speaker 5>Yeah, check out Nineties Disney My nineties Disney podcast. Our <v Speaker 5>latest Christmas episode is about the Beauty and the Beast <v Speaker 5>Christmas theme to direct the video sequel. So who wouldn't <v Speaker 5>want to learn more about that? Jeff and I do <v Speaker 5>our own podcast, so usually on Tuesday and Thursday. Less <v Speaker 5>than ten Dogs and gave us a size not this week. <v Speaker 5>We're gonna be going to la very soon here, Jeff, <v Speaker 5>I Ley tomorrow, So I gotta after this. I guy <v Speaker 5>take penny to boarding. I gotta get some less minted <v Speaker 5>things figured out. We might have a one more podcast <v Speaker 5>or record today ourselves. So yeah, gotta be busy and <v Speaker 5>then uh leaving tomorrow and then you blink and that <v Speaker 5>whole thing will be over. <v Speaker 2>That's right, looking forward to it, looking out to get <v Speaker 2>out to LA with everybody. Uh seen you seeing all <v Speaker 2>the seeing, all the crew and everybody. And yeah, we <v Speaker 2>got a lot to do, but you're right, we'll blink <v Speaker 2>and it'll be over. But everyone should tune in to <v Speaker 2>GB at night on Wednesday, Uh, starting at five pm <v Speaker 2>Pacific time, that's eight pm Eastern. <v Speaker 1>We're going for quite some time after that. Uh. We <v Speaker 1>gonna have a lot of people on the couch, a <v Speaker 1>lot of. <v Speaker 2>Familiar faces, a lot of new faces, some voice actors, <v Speaker 2>some people nominated for Game Awards. It'll be a good time. <v Speaker 2>Looking forward to it again. That's Wednesday. We'll be streaming <v Speaker 2>at all the usual places. Uh, okay, new pool question. <v Speaker 2>Have you played Marvel Rivals? <v Speaker 1>Yes or no? We'll get the results of that. <v Speaker 2>We'll discuss it here on Game mess Mornings on Giant <v Speaker 2>Bomb at some point when. <v Speaker 1>We get back, probably next Monday. So looking forward to that. <v Speaker 2>In the meantime, I would love to do more Game <v Speaker 2>Best Mornings when we're in LA. There's a possibility I <v Speaker 2>might do one on Friday. No promises. <v Speaker 1>I did. <v Speaker 2>Emma talk to me. She's like, do you want to <v Speaker 2>do it from the studio. I'm like, I could, Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I could just do it. <v Speaker 1>From the studio. <v Speaker 2>You know, if we have other fires to put out, <v Speaker 2>that might not happen. So again, no promises, but Friday <v Speaker 2>morning looks like a time that we might be able <v Speaker 2>to make it happen. <v Speaker 1>So we'll see. <v Speaker 2>I would love to talk to you all about what <v Speaker 2>happened on the Game Awards and on Game mess Mornings <v Speaker 2>later this week. <v Speaker 1>All right, let's see here. Anything else I need to <v Speaker 1>touch on. <v Speaker 2>I guess you know, just once again, Game of the <v Speaker 2>Year stuff will be happening later this month. We're gonna <v Speaker 2>have a top ten lists from contributors and all this stuff. <v Speaker 2>I think, Mike, you and your brothers are going to <v Speaker 2>do a list together. <v Speaker 5>Yes, I'm gonna see if I can wrote my brothers <v Speaker 5>and doing one with me, because you were like, you <v Speaker 5>told them, hey, you can each do a list you <v Speaker 5>want to, and they're like, we're we're we're dads whose <v Speaker 5>full time jobs don't involve video games. We didn't play <v Speaker 5>ten games this year. I was like, don't worry, well, <v Speaker 5>we'll do a mi naughty brother's list of some kind. <v Speaker 1>That's perfect. <v Speaker 2>All right, let's let's get out of here. Mike, thank <v Speaker 2>you so much for hanging out with me today and <v Speaker 2>talking about video games. <v Speaker 1>Man, I appreciate it. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, it's been wats I've done this show, actually, but <v Speaker 5>it's always it's always a good time, especially this week <v Speaker 5>since we're not doing our normal usual podcast anyway, so <v Speaker 5>I still got to talk about some video game news <v Speaker 5>with you here. <v Speaker 4>It was good. <v Speaker 2>Yep, that was real good. Thank you all for listening <v Speaker 2>and watching. You were the best audience in video games. <v Speaker 2>Until next time, have a good one, take care of yourself, <v Speaker 2>and goodbye.
