Episode 95 - The War of the Beast pt4

The 40k Lorecast

On today’s cast we close out our coverage of the war of the beast. We start with what becomes the final invasion of Ullanor and the slaying of the beast (for real this time). But after that we jump into the post effects of the war of the beast, starting with Vangoich killing all the lords of Terra. After that we talk about the corruption of a space marine chapter and their fall to chaos as a backdrop to the war of the beast. We then close out with how the war of the beast affected the imperial citizens, the organization of the lords of terra, the space marines, and the inquisition. We then close talking about how it affected the orks!

[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast.
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Forty-Killer cast with me, John Barsati, and Brad Jester.
[SPEAKER_00]: The scout.
[SPEAKER_00]: On the days cast, we're going to conclude our coverage of the war of the beast, but more importantly, we're going to cover the effects of the war of the beast on the galaxy at large.
[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty big.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's mildly influential moment.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not Horace Heresy, but it's not far, but actually, I would think, war of the beast.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Horace Heresy, fall of Cadia, which is the most influential.
[SPEAKER_00]: One, two, three.
[SPEAKER_00]: Heresy is one.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's still, Horace, as you still want to wear the pieces bigger than fall.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's structured the Imperium again.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we had two back-to-back restructuring of how the Imperium works.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's thick.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's fall-cating.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, eh, and chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, fuck chaos is a big deal, but it's just part of the war.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a super big part of the war, but it doesn't functionally structure.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't have structural changes to how the Imperium actually works.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's there.
[SPEAKER_00]: But, as always, the Forty-K-Lorecast, that we clearly show, focusing the lore of the Warhammer Forty-K universe, releasing every Monday at seven p.m.
[SPEAKER_00]: Please follow and comment in the cast if you like what we're doing.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't, don't.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's fine, but I appreciate it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But if you do like what we're doing, it really does help our algorithm out a lot and pushes up to more listeners.
[SPEAKER_00]: So massive, thank you, by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've been telling everyone to do this for, you know, what to be, ninety something episodes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'd for at to say, hey, guys, thank you for making us the number one lorecast on Warhammer.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've been that, by the way, for a long time.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I just kept forgetting the thank you also.
[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks.
[SPEAKER_00]: It really is your guys comments and your follows.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was moved us up the charts.
[SPEAKER_01]: Only took us a year to tell you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good job, guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's when I say, guys, I mean, this gap.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not welcome in those conversations, because Brad knows what I do in competitive situations of Warhammer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, man.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Massive, thank you to the moderators, because they're doing a hell of a job, keeping it organized and keeping it easy to navigate.
[SPEAKER_01]: But with that, keeping it not on fire.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's get to the recap.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what's given me in potatoes a show.
[SPEAKER_00]: So three episodes here we are.
[SPEAKER_00]: Humanity, despite having no primarx left, the emperor and tombed the golden throne and being run by the most reckless group of individuals, the lords of terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: was doing great.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was all prospering and growing.
[SPEAKER_00]: All thanks to Reputate Gilliman.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was, it was a very fancy out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's first name I wanted to call him Robert every time I see it for no good reason.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's said by someone with a hard to pronounce last name.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I did it's shame.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, massive organization occurs, flips all this on its head, the organization pushes all the way to literally the skies above Terra, where the imperium is saved by the combined actions of the imperial fist successor chapters, the inquisition and the assassins.
[SPEAKER_00]: From there, they discovered the source of the invasion is the planet Lulinor, which was the site of the last battle of the Great Crusade.
[SPEAKER_00]: in which the orc menus was thought to be put down for good by Horace the primarics, even though it was not.
[SPEAKER_00]: Later on, the primaric Vulcan reappears the galaxy and helps lead the forest on one arm to destroy the orc leader of the beast after taking catastrophic losses including Vulcan dying to kill the beast.
[SPEAKER_00]: They think they've won upon returning to terror, they discover they have not and they have to go back again.
[SPEAKER_00]: the second time they go back with the new elite space marine force of the death watch and unique and a new unique weapon using the pariah powers the sisters of silence to create an anti-law weapon it works except that it totally doesn't well it does work
[SPEAKER_00]: It does work and then they discover that there's more than one beast in which case, Corland, the Lord Commander of the Imperium dies in this moment and the Imperium has to retreat again back to Terra.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where we are.
[SPEAKER_00]: So once again, we're starting episode back on Terra.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll swear to God, if you say prime work again though, we're ending this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Prime work's gonna come up later on the cast deal with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I already know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Spoiler alert for me.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've read it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Brad has read the notes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Brad does, we do our homework for this cast after all.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: So once again, we're back on Terra.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Piero forces have come back with their tail kind of between their legs after an invasion of Illinois, they did not go to plan.
[SPEAKER_00]: This time around though, it's way worse.
[SPEAKER_00]: The lords of Terra are effectively collapsing on themselves.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're turning to anarchy because none of them knew how to lead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, in any way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's, let's pause on this because for most of the time,
[SPEAKER_01]: before they realized how bad it was.
[SPEAKER_01]: The lords of terror are scheming against each other, trying to chop each other at the knees.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't do talk about this enough in the last episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even during this, they kind of start still trying to position themselves to come out as the big gain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like my opponents are going to lose this much.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're still doing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's because they're too a lesser extent.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because to your defense, they are useless in the problem with the lords of terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: is that they assume every time these invasions go out to Ullinore, that it's going to be a massive success and that the impera forces are coming back with the problem solved and they're all scheming to find ways to make it so that when that praise begins flowing, it flows to them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then what happens is, they come back saying, oh yeah, we went all the other, all in all, we did not succeed.
[SPEAKER_00]: And these guys who have been sitting there saying, they've got the parade ready to go.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is the cartoon where they're camping down the parade?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of the most funny ones.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was thinking it was the despicable means where the minions are ready to go.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, not yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of, they also have that one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what it feels like where they're like oh, yeah, I am the greatest.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, I actually had nothing to do with this and that combo it begins to just descend the entire Imperium down because these are like not the leaders of the Imperium
[SPEAKER_00]: Things then get worse, though, because there's now a full-court press put on the Imperium by the new beast.
[SPEAKER_00]: Systems all across momentum solar come under brutal assault by workforces, billions, trillions, quadrillions of orcs now descending into the sector, and the lords of terror make all of this worse.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't know how to respond.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so the head of the Imperial Navy successfully gets the entire solar naval fleet destroyed by misdeploying it and placing it right in the middle of multiple orcasults.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, these guys are so bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: block a lead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, luckily the space Marines had their own ideas.
[SPEAKER_00]: So after Corland's death, the chapter master of the fifths exemplar, because surprise surprised the fifths exemplar is one who's going to step up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, his name is Maximus Thane.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to start, I do, you're going to say this.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is like something I would choose is one of my main characters.
[SPEAKER_00]: You would.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is exactly what that's right.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is exactly, I'm not going to like, I play almost every RPG I have when I have the name of character.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's named Bob.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm saying, ninety nine percent of the time, I name it Bob.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or if I'm running as a female character, I'll be on as Bobette.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the last my beat fall out for.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a woman named Bob.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was, no, it was something, I made some female version of Bob.
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, but you would go maximist things.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maximist thing.
[UNKNOWN]: God.
[SPEAKER_00]: So weird about your Napoleon complex.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: I googled it early because this is how I've lived in my life.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so I'm gonna make me be in short of everyone else's problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: accurate.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, everyone else except for the architects have to design doorways.
[SPEAKER_00]: They love you.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: This building has a low ceiling.
[SPEAKER_00]: It does?
[SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't notice.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's nice.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can change a light bulb without eating a ladder.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about why Maximus was pretty bossy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Maximus thing is a very, he's awesome.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Maximus thing sits down and he reviews the actions.
[SPEAKER_00]: He looks back and says, okay, what did we do in more importantly, what went wrong?
[SPEAKER_00]: And he realized a number one mistake, Coral and Made, was working with the Lord's a terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just immediately goes, yeah, they're useless and decides I went nothing to do with them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not even going to involve the May thing I'm going to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so what he asked thing that he did to start.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he sees that like the when he looks over immediately and realizes that they're not just incompetent, but they're actively impeding the success of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't get them involved.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're actually a negative.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd rather play a man down than have you in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So what he does the first thing he does is like.
[SPEAKER_00]: What Maximum Stain realizes is that this is going to have to be a space marine problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I will say if you're reading forty k books, whenever the space marine's decides, it's a space marine problem, it means this time it's going to work.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just one hundred percent of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, Thane begins his actions.
[SPEAKER_00]: The first thing he does is he has to do something about the fact that there are no more imperialists.
[SPEAKER_00]: With Corland dying, Corland was the last imperial fist in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, technically, they are an extinct species.
[SPEAKER_00]: in the time since ardumentum which is when all the imperial fist died in the first cast.
[SPEAKER_00]: and the second invasion of Ouna, which was in our last cast, there have been no new imperial fists created, not even a neophyte.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he orders all successor chapters of the fist to provide battle brothers for their progeny, for their progeny Legion.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so soon, a thousand space marines are assembled, and they all have their armor repainted, yellow, and black.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thane then leaves the chapter himself as chapter master of the fist exemplar and takes up the title of chapter master of the imperial fists.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the next, it's also pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I like when he does, I can hate when he does, because they parade out to just give a big middle finger the Lord's Attara.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the Sarah, probably not.
[SPEAKER_00]: But after that, it was a good move because what he did was that the imperialists had been since the end of the heresy.
[SPEAKER_00]: They had been the defenders of terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so what he did was the parade himself and his new fists all through terror showing we are here.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what this did was it helped halt the anarchy that was descending all throughout terror and the system because the people looked up and said, oh, our protectors are actually still here.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, the lords of terror took it a very different way.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they wrecked it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I took offense to that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the bigger thing that he did, this was, you might say that for the populists, this is a big deal because it did quail a lot of things.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the bigger thing that he immediately did, and I like this quite a bit, because looking through the actions of everything that's happened so far, he immediately picks up on the fact, which everyone should, because Marines are very unbelievably intelligent.
[SPEAKER_01]: He goes, these are the people that I can work with.
[SPEAKER_01]: He goes, you know, in Gorovitch, Fabricator Kubrick, wine-line, the Sisters of Silence, very, very nicely.
[SPEAKER_01]: Basically goes, these are all the people that don't have their heads and their butts, and we can get stuff done, and not only sets up alliances with them, but cuts everybody out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't even let them know what he's doing anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can't mess this up if I don't let you know we're doing anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then he actually does even better.
[SPEAKER_00]: He then uses them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Namely, the inquisitors between it's weaning wasn't as powerful as pump but veritas, so very powerful and cubic and vanguard, obviously, to go influence the other lords of terror whose power could help he needs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Namely, the imperial navy and the imperial guard.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if they just go to
[SPEAKER_00]: Then Gorekin team go to them and say, Hey, we're going back to Illinois and by way, I mean you and all your forces, let's go and they head out.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this timing is critical because the orcs thing does this pretty quick.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is getting close.
[SPEAKER_00]: The invasion towards Tera is happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: The orcs are pushing and they're pushing.
[SPEAKER_00]: What's funny about this little side story that happens during this is during one of the raids where the Orcs are pushing the segmentum solar, the head of the Ecclesiarchy was on a planet that got overrun.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as he was dying, he then sends out a vox message to the entire imperial saying, the Orcs are actually our saviors.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as a result, a bunch of worlds who then report to the ecclesiarchy decide, oh, we shouldn't resist the yorks, we should embrace the yorks.
[SPEAKER_00]: The yorks then took their sticks and murdered everyone on those planets.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, did you not run away?
[SPEAKER_00]: We are your parents.
[SPEAKER_00]: But this becomes that this is why Thane has having to move so fast because stuff like that's happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: We are seeing it's not the resistance of humanity starting to break, which is that's the game.
[SPEAKER_00]: So for the third invasion, Thane again decides to take tried and true tactics and improve them.
[SPEAKER_00]: This time, as we said in the last cast, the GW likes throwing things at things.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a key part of Black Library and Code X reading.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the last time they threw Darryl X spacecraft, that worked okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: But this time, they decided to step it up and they decided to use
[SPEAKER_00]: the orc-tech, the orc-trick against the big O-rock.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because this time, I'm not basically I'm not getting caught in a trap.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he grabs asteroids and begins firing asteroids at Wolinore, which I assume was similar to the opening of Starship Troopers.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: And are watching these spans?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go with Starship Troopers.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of them had Denise Richards and the other one didn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Call me about anyway.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, man, I mean, we came out when I was in that height of puberty.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not, well, let's talk about, let's talk about the apparently debate the orcs you got to think like in the work because they start throwing all these asteroids in, but one is a super sneaky asteroid.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, so this was funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the space Marines are dropping these asteroids all over Olinore.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's working.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the shield has fallen.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are now asteroids crashing in the summons.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then this one kind of shiny asteroid lands right outside of a Gorka grad and it's not a real asteroid surprise.
[SPEAKER_00]: outpop all the space marines because they turned it into their own attack moon and it does it actually wrecks the city and these guys all come rushing out of it drop pot because they fare space marines do love a good drop pot assault and in the rules having a every time the rules let us have it it totally breaks the game makes it incredibly unfund and unplayable but in the lore it's awesome
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, the plot.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about something that they also brought, which for two, three books at this point in time, they just forgot existed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, man, we're going to fight for our lives or fight for the state of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: We should probably bring the largest spaceship that we had.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The phalanx comes back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where was this for the longest time?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Getting detailed.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were getting back.
[SPEAKER_01]: They put some new rims on it.
[SPEAKER_00]: When the orchestra was at that.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's above terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: The phalanx is you're getting a paint job.
[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they decide this time to bring the Death Star.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that'll help.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they just drop it right in orbit.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that helps obviously, but now they're on ulnar and the fists are making their determined run.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is it where you're going to end the orcs once and for all.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's actually what's working.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thane and basically every named character from every single book up into this point is there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean that like veritas is there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ween and does there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kubik is there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every everyone that they've ever mentioned who hasn't died in a prior book is in this.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a hundred pages of what we call Bolter porn.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you guys don't know what that is, that just means it's whatever GW just wants to write about the space ring jumping over a rock firing a boulder into something and then doing a second summer salt into kicking something.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's not badly written.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're into it, it's awesome.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's effectively when I read it, it makes me think of that man from the sixties, where it's every time a space ring does something.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Capau, boom.
[SPEAKER_00]: Although I guess to be fair, there's no scene where
[SPEAKER_00]: The space marines have a surf competition against the Joker.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not that bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bad shark repellent.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, bad shark repellent.
[SPEAKER_00]: That show is terrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is effectively the defense of the white city from return of the king's.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody that's is anybody.
[SPEAKER_01]: is heat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And ready to rock also to their credit.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are kicking the crap out of everybody during this fight.
[SPEAKER_00]: They are a thingness forces.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the one that goes well because the in traditional writing, like the third times the Sean.
[SPEAKER_00]: So thingness forces, they're drive right to the heart of Gorka.
[SPEAKER_00]: And thanks to two prior visits, the new things that we worried they need to go.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's pretty helpful.
[SPEAKER_00]: But in order to perform their anti-watt trick, they had to combine some captured orch-sikers with pariah powers of the Sisters of Silence.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not surprising, as the battle progresses, the orch-sikers start dying until they reach the inner sanctum with only one orch-siker remaining because, mmm, trauma.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, a pot of arriving at the heart of the temple, though they do come face-to-face with a great beast again.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great beast again.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thane and crew engage in combat, but they knows he can't kill it.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no scenario that even he, who's, I should be fair, I say, even he's a spaceman.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's nine feet tall, maybe, probably closer to eight.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's big, but he's fighting a thirty foot tall orc in an armor.
[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't going to go well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, well, well, my friend, mega.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, right, mega, are we?
[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's self-in shortening.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're just fighting to buy time and blah, blah, blah, dodging attack, blah, blah, blah jump away, blah, blah grenade, and all this while the sisters perform maneuver and they pull off this time because of course they do.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is just pull off the maneuver and this anti-wa energy flows right back through the works.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so powerful that the beast head explodes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I just, in my mind, it's hard for me not to go to have the beast realize it might be kind of right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the guys could do something else.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so this time though, the beast is dead for good.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Imperium is still in danger because unlike return of the Jedi, the Orcs didn't just shrug their shoulders and go home.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, this is a really weird belt.
[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, it starts with ever dies and they're like, all right, I guess this, we don't need the fleet, although I guess technically episodes seven proves that yeah, they did figure that out.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's still one of my favorite family.
[SPEAKER_01]: I did it with me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we just killed him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where you stall number and five to one.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, you don't understand.
[SPEAKER_01]: We lost.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty.
[SPEAKER_01]: But we have so many ships.
[SPEAKER_01]: I already told you we lost.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the, I guess luckily the Orcs didn't subscribe to that method.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so while they lost the beast and a lot of the power going through them, they still do rampage throughout the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of them do end up disappearing from Ulan or the, I should mention that as soon as the beast goes, you do see a fracturing of forces and all the battles going on around the galaxy because the beast was using his psychic power to drive them forward.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so Orcs, as we said before,
[SPEAKER_00]: tend to fight in large packs and so if orcs are find those out numbered or if it's not really a fight they care about they'll just leave and so that tends to happen like segmentum solar for example where the defenses are really really strong they kind of bail for lack of a better friends
[SPEAKER_01]: The funny thing about this is, yes, they cut off the head of the snake, things are going good for the Imperium, but also they're not because they were being pushed forward.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were fighting in a way that was, you can understand, you know, what they were, they had a goal they were trying to go.
[SPEAKER_01]: After the beast is dead, the York's just keep rampaging, but rampaging, roll the dice and see where it goes, kind of.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's actually a little bit harder
[SPEAKER_01]: for the forces of the Imperium to deal with because they're just now all over the place.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are they going to destroy the Imperium?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, but they're pretty, they're not great for the Imperium, but they're having a hard time rooting them out of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so this becomes Thane's new job with the beast slain, Thane, and his forces went back to terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the first and they organize is a mass of crusades, plural, because remember, these are fists they crusade.
[SPEAKER_00]: to clear out the work investigations all around the galaxy, because as we were just saying thousands of systems are actively fighting the works, and they're fighting them largely with imperial forces, like planetary defense forces, there might be a guard regiment here and there, but this is not suitable for pushing back on orcs who are two to three times the size of an average man.
[SPEAKER_01]: And let's also talk about this because of all the things that they were actively trying to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: The beast had them hitting the logistic chains.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have an agro world.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's high world.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anybody that's wrecking the chain of feeding the empire is a big thing that they're doing right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I got my big thing out earlier.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, but
[SPEAKER_01]: They are all in places.
[SPEAKER_01]: They need them not to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, and it's very, again, and there are a lot of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, they have to do multiple crusades and multiple sectors to figure out how we get this back and how we stop this from, because as they can look at, what I don't want is the sixty-seventh bees to show up, or bees junior to show up, they need to clear this out while they can before it becomes a bigger problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly because the bigger the or conflict gets the more works to get there the more powerful it becomes and you could run through the segment Nebraska point they're in really not great spots for the Imperium
[SPEAKER_00]: But the orc threat, as of course, the least of the problems for Thane.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is once again about to be the lords of terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: I saw so much.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Thane's first action upon getting back seeing what he has to do is to increase the size of space Marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: In almost two thousand years since the end of the Horace Heresy, the space marine legions have really spread across the galaxy kind of doing their own thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, they basically, they're all hipsters.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're in the little section.
[SPEAKER_00]: They've got really good coffee, really good avocado toast, but we really haven't, not part of society at large.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're just doing their own thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just like making these references could have bothered us, Brad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Massively, what I do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God, I don't do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a spaceful space.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's just mastering avocado toast at this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: where the golden girls t-shirt over time, which I'm going to go ahead and call it out.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's of the things hipsters are responsible for avocado toast.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like the least.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not that good.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: But what they done with coffee, beer, whiskey, like distilleries, go hipsters go.
[SPEAKER_00]: So while it's the random tangent from John.
[SPEAKER_00]: While these space marine chapters have been keeping kind of tacit contact with one another, they're effectively just a hoard of independent chapters doing their own thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Thane realizes that after the events of Illinois, the Imperium needs the space marines more than ever.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he calls for a new space marine founding to begin, and hundreds of new chapters are formed as Gene's stocks are released.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's leads to almost an exponential growth of the number of spaceprints in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: The idea, things idea was, I'm going to rhythm the galaxy, the imperium, the other realm of the imperium with spacemaries.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this way, there will never be another war of the beast.
[SPEAKER_00]: And anything that does come up, we can snuff it out quickly, because we're not going to be relying on the stupid lords of terror, we're going to do it ourselves.
[SPEAKER_01]: It the things that's also he made it so that they were doing more joint ventures.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: They talked a little bit a lot last episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of the mirroring chapters were just kind of yolo soloing at all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were just only doing their thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Death watch helps with this a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: We did go back to seventy seventy one because they started putting beacons all up over the entire galaxy exactly rapid response.
[SPEAKER_00]: It does, but the more important, it's like what Brad was just saying, you know, the individual chapters might talk to each other, but the problem with space marines is that if you've got a chapter, it's at most a thousand marines, but some of them might only be a couple hundred, which actually is not enough to stop an orc wall or what's coming later.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're running over instantly.
[SPEAKER_00]: So having more of them in a constant communication means they can have more joint attacks, more joint forces.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this timing is really fortuitous because
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to jump all over this because well, you're like, why would it be for two of this that we just got run over and so many things got killed and oh, yeah, they made it the sole twice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why this is such a huge, great thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And for them is they realize the weakness of the defenses of the Imperium, they realize that the weakness is of the way we can defend across the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: We were very slow to react.
[SPEAKER_01]: And why this is sort of gratuitous is because this is thousands of years before the Necrons, or the tiernids.
[SPEAKER_01]: Chaos had not made their big pushes yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: At this point in time, Chaos hadn't been seen in forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is, we was early enough to change the entire way that we defend, patrol, and respond to threats to the Imperium, and also we realize that if you see a Lord of Terry, you should just punch him in the throat and move on with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then I'd say you're so right on the timing being so fortuitous because if this was hell, if this was modern day, forty k, well, the game would be over because it's everything's dead because they have the worst response.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have enough Marines.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't have enough Marines available to enter help like do inner, inner chapter support.
[SPEAKER_01]: support.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, but yeah, and this is such a big deal because if this was any other, if this was even two thousand years later, when we started getting evidence, big pushes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I'm going to run through them into the orcs, hundred percent.
[SPEAKER_00]: The war of the beast is massive, but it's still orcs.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the orcs weren't as organized.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, let's really talk about this because it's worked until a few thousand years, actually, many thousand years, like seven thousand years, I think at this point,
[SPEAKER_00]: before the necrons and tyrannids emerge.
[SPEAKER_00]: But chaos is lurking.
[SPEAKER_00]: There about, there's already been one black crusade that was the one that killed Sigismund, but there's a much bigger one coming.
[SPEAKER_00]: And because of this, the next time when chaos begins their incursion, we're also about to see the elder reappear.
[SPEAKER_00]: As they go to do this, there are literally tens of thousands more space marines than there would have been otherwise.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because the Imperium was in the beginning.
[SPEAKER_00]: We can't have you have all the literally.
[SPEAKER_01]: So then now the next man is literally not true.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the next thing that Thane does is actually ironic because of earlier he then decides that the period of this or no longer going to be the defense force of terror after parading across there saying hey we're here to be your defense force again they went actually know we're not relieving and
[SPEAKER_00]: This doesn't surprise me because Stane wasn't an imperial fist.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was a fist exemplar.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so he came from one of the chapters that was on Constant Crusade.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he might've just gotten bored.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it is, but as the new leader of the imperial fists, he decided his legacy is not to stand back but to go forward and conquer the galaxy for humanity.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he declares that the fists are no longer gonna gather some soul and would instead join the rest of their brothers in taming the stars for humanity.
[SPEAKER_00]: and this one hundred percent comes back to bite him in the ass.
[SPEAKER_01]: What?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because let's talk about the fact that burrides are fantastic cockers.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then eleven seconds later they're like, what are you going to do to fortify this?
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, what?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I get to bring up old shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to the next fight.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so it ball though to his credit theme that yours that out because he says, look, the space manager of your conquer the stars, but we're going to look at it afterwards.
[SPEAKER_00]: Leave and I get it.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a super soldier wearing super armor, you don't want to sit there and have to build a farm.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, someone else didn't do that thing after we're gone.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, Thane just directs the Imperial Guard, the Navy, the administrative and the merchant fleets and more to go and effectively follow us.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going out, we're going to go conquer the stars and then after we kind of jack these planets up, we need you guys to fix them and make them habitable.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, the last thing he does is he realizes that
[SPEAKER_00]: someone back on soul, actually, back on terror, more specific.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he has to follow through on all the stuff he wants done.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he looks around to all the people and says to himself, ah, I have the perfect person.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank God, the head of the assassins.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask.
[SPEAKER_01]: Level ahead in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good to go.
[SPEAKER_01]: Probably.
[SPEAKER_01]: You really good at building and resupplying.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he leaves the head of the assassins.
[SPEAKER_00]: with a very specific command.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is, here are the things I need done.
[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure the lords of terror do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's all he tells him.
[SPEAKER_00]: He leaves.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Van Gourge steps into this new role and begins trying to figure out what's the best way for me to do, what's best for the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_00]: And in Van Gourge's defense, he really was in the onset very aligned with what Thane wanted and agreed with Thane.
[SPEAKER_00]: will be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_00]: He begins though pretty quickly coming to the conclusion that the lords of terror are irredeemable.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is a true spy master.
[SPEAKER_00]: He figures out what everyone's up to and discovers it's all a lot worse than he thought, especially Kubik.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because all the other lords of terror just tried to enrich themselves.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're like, oh, cool, that war's over.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like to go be very wealthy now.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go ahead and do that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe kill some rivals.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the one he can't figure out is Kubik, who's the head of the Ad Mac.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kubik has been kind of weird this whole time because he supports them and other engagements, but he just keeps to himself and then Gorich couldn't quite figure out what he was up to.
[SPEAKER_00]: But with the War of the Beast finally concluded, Vengorich doesn't have to also worry about organvations and is able to really dive more deeply into this and discover as the AdMec are a nightmare C for him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kubik.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so many mad scientist laboratories.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, going on with absolutely no care for anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: So what Vengorich discovers is that after the defeat of the Beast at Ulanor,
[SPEAKER_00]: Thane ordered that Ulunar be exterminated.
[SPEAKER_00]: It had to be, it became, and the admec agreed to do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what the admec agreed to do was use the new teleportation technology to warp Ulunar into a sun.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because Thane's viewpoint and his correct is, even we already scoured the surface of Ulunar, the emperor, and the emperor did that with Horus.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the orcs still came back there.
[SPEAKER_00]: This planet needs not exist anymore.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the planet is disappeared.
[SPEAKER_00]: Air quotes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Air quotes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, no, no, no.
[SPEAKER_00]: The planet disappeared.
[SPEAKER_00]: It did not go into a sun.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cubic in the add back after the failings of the attack moon sitting above Terra, figure out how to teleport something.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they decide that they need more time to pull a port part all the work technology.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they teleport ulnar to a system in the upper right corner of segmentum solar.
[SPEAKER_00]: that because and they need it and they want this way their idea was we'll put it in an unsettled system.
[SPEAKER_00]: No one will know and then we'll just go there and we get all the time in the world to take apart all the technology.
[SPEAKER_00]: The problem with the ad-neck and everybody else is no one really knows what everybody else is up to.
[SPEAKER_00]: The reason this system hadn't been solved by humanity was not that there was something wrong with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was in the queue.
[SPEAKER_00]: And in fact, there were colonieships already heading to this system.
[SPEAKER_01]: which kind of noticed a planet showing up.
[SPEAKER_00]: They got there and there was this perfect planet there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Kubik and they have it did actually have enough time to rip all the technology out of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the human settlers do arrive, not that much, a few hundred years later, and fully colonized in Illinois.
[SPEAKER_00]: Getting back to what that one's going to be called in a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Vangorick sees this treasure.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's still alien plan.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's what's for any.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, LV for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: LV for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: L
[SPEAKER_00]: not just against cubic, but against all of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so say, he doesn't say, I'm going to act against cubic.
[SPEAKER_01]: He goes, hey, man, if you ever see the Godfather because I think what I'm going to do is take care of everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who's everyone?
[SPEAKER_01]: I said everyone.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is literally the whoever wrote this had just watched the Godfather or just it was their favorite movie because it's the exact same scene.
[SPEAKER_00]: immediately throughout all of Tera, every single Lord of Tera either is dies or capitulates to what's about to happen.
[SPEAKER_00]: And, no, he did, sorry, no, he did kill all of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
[SPEAKER_00]: They all died.
[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them died.
[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them he put assassins who didn't took their place like weekend and Bernie's style.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a friend says he, he weekend at Bernie's
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, you're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, like, no, everyone dies.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a couple of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They put the mission impossible face on and protect them.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're not really mission impossible.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing weekend at Bernie's.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're both old enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing weekend at Bernie's.
[SPEAKER_00]: They both come on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, I'm not, I'm not giving it.
[SPEAKER_00]: They's rapid.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is way more fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: So.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every one of these assassinations goes off without a hitch except for Kubik.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because Kubik, because of where he is, and him being also the head of the ad makes it much harder.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Kubik basically is tracked down though by then Gork and a few assassins.
[SPEAKER_00]: Then Gork tells Kubik to hand over all of the knowledge to him the master of the assassins.
[SPEAKER_00]: He gives them a choice.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he says to him, if you don't give your information, I'm going to infect you with a virus that's going to spread to all of the admit, and it's going to effectively destroy the admit.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you do, I'll just kill you.
[SPEAKER_00]: You'll be okay afterwards.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kubik decides, nope, and just kills himself right then and there before anyone can act.
[SPEAKER_00]: The good news for the ad-mac is this prevents vanguard from getting control of the ad-mac because his support it takes over.
[SPEAKER_00]: The bad news is he's the only one that really knows the true fate of Ullinore at this stage.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's lost to the Imperium that, hey, Ullinore is actually sitting in segmentum solar.
[SPEAKER_00]: And whoops, indeed.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll cover that in a little bit about how that settlement goes.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the funnier part about this is, as Van Corx doing all this, his things aware of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thane and the inquisitioner, both in the, I would say, and the inquisitioner, both well aware that the head of the assassins just murdered every single Lord of Tara and are now, you know, we can have Bernie, a bunch of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: But in classic Imperium fashion, they looked at it and said, well, what's Fengouric up to?
[SPEAKER_00]: And while he's doing everything you told him to do, and in fact, we're running more efficiently than we were before.
[SPEAKER_01]: And everyone might... I really feel that this actually sets the...
[SPEAKER_01]: the table for how the period now works for the last nine thousand years, which is you can do crazy shit as long as you meet all quotas and don't ruffle any feathers.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, is that guy supposed to be in charge?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, is are all the buses running on time or all the ship that's getting there?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever.
[SPEAKER_00]: That positive.
[SPEAKER_00]: However,
[SPEAKER_00]: over time and they don't really explain why this happens by the way, it just does.
[SPEAKER_00]: Van Gorex mind starts to go and he starts to become very paranoid, very jealous and his assassins stop going after people who are resisting the goals of the Imperium and they're just getting anyone who Van Gorex, you know,
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this was meant to be more like Stalin, as I think who they were trying to make this after is that Stalin took power of the death of Lenin.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then started erasing people from actual portions, which by the way, if you've seen the movie Death of Stalin, go watch it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's quite funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's very, very, very well.
[SPEAKER_00]: The A-Tam Steve, who's shemi, is in a movie about the worst part of Russian history.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably going to be good.
[SPEAKER_01]: The part where they talk about the pictures is so brilliant.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, there was another dude in that picture.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was another one.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, there was another one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's really good.
[SPEAKER_00]: But this continues unabated until Thane is imperial fists return back to the system.
[SPEAKER_00]: And when they get back to the sole system, they discover that the imperial has shifted.
[SPEAKER_00]: What was originally then gory moving and actually improving anything, it's now moving back towards disarray.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, Thane demands Van Gourge account for all of his actions.
[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, what is going on here?
[SPEAKER_00]: And Van Gourge basically goes, and runs away.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he runs to the ever-sortemple.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's in the North Pole.
[SPEAKER_00]: I believe, I'm not mistaken, because GW writing of course would be in the North Pole.
[SPEAKER_00]: Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van Gourge, Van G
[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's and thing has to do something about it because he did start this this also this is some crazy kill bill stuff because in the writing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone dies.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm not everyone.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a huge fan.
[SPEAKER_00]: So this one.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was killed all power through this.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the imperial fist with Thane invade the ever-sortem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, again, ever-sours are not a fun fight.
[SPEAKER_00]: At the end of this, every single space marine except for Thane is dead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every ever-sort with the exception of course, East Side Wire is dead and then Gork.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Thane is standing in front of Vengork and he has the greatest assassin in history to his side.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then he said that this moment basically breaks the shackles of control that Angoricaida over and says, peace out and leaves and things shoots than Gork dead.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a terrible writing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to say it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But this does effectively now.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is from the books standpoint, the end, cool writing of the War of the Beast.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, the cooler stuff happens after the war of the beast though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's because you had all of these proxies, which were just vain gorses, fingermen basically all his puppets are all there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Thane has to take care of all this.
[SPEAKER_00]: And, but well, Thane can't super cool about the thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: That means about.
[SPEAKER_00]: So as we just said, Thane arrived back on Terra and everyone here arrived with his dead.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just him.
[SPEAKER_00]: And now we've got, he still has, he's killed then Gork.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the lords of terror that who are the puppets of engorek are all still very much so there.
[SPEAKER_00]: So things have to get out of town quickly before they murder it because he would have gotten murdered.
[SPEAKER_00]: They could have sent assassins after him.
[SPEAKER_00]: He would have died.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what's only assassins here is out there too.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you still do not have to.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is supposed to be Ted.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's actually in the sea.
[SPEAKER_00]: So all the ever-saurus are gone, but that still means the vindicaries, we still have venom at this point, collect sea, they're all there.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Caledus, the Caledus, the face changers were all there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he bales, and while he's gone for the next almost twenty years, Terra falls into anarchy, it's a complete mess.
[SPEAKER_00]: All the lords of Terra, it'd be an infighting, it's getting worse and worse.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually saved by the ultramates because who else would do it by the way?
[SPEAKER_00]: Of course it's the ultramarines.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, they go into full cleanup mode.
[SPEAKER_00]: This part's awesome.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the Ultra Marines show up with effectively every single successor chapter.
[SPEAKER_00]: And which is now the effect of the full Legion arrives in orbit above Terra.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they just say, hey, all of you are going to stop infighting or I'm going to personally declare you as heretics and we're going to invade and slaughter you.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the backstabbing stops.
[SPEAKER_00]: With the quiz, yes, pretty sudden they all go, okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go ahead and leave now.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's okay with you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe add new lords of terror and a new council of terror are elected.
[SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, I should point out the acostodes did nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: absolutely nothing there's whole time the custodes have also been on terror every now then lifting up a blind looking out the window and going they're not touched with the temple and put the blind back down and went back to guard the temple this is finally a really big thing on this yes it actually this might be
[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest thing that came out of that is when they reform the council, they make a spot for the custom.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is gigantic because, oh yeah, remember the fact that Seoul is supposed to be this unassailable, no one could come even close to Tara?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, people are just showing up on Tara.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they effectively said, hey, custodes, it's not just the palace that you have to protect.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything about my soul system.
[SPEAKER_00]: I got it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have the caveat that's a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's go with the positive and the negative.
[SPEAKER_00]: The positive is yes, they add a seat on the lords of terror for the custos, which means the custos who, by the way, are smarter than the basements.
[SPEAKER_00]: So now we do have someone on the council of terror who is genius.
[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing smarter than a custo is a primer.
[SPEAKER_00]: And one of those primarks is anger.
[SPEAKER_00]: But you do have to, that's me, the anger.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of those primarks is more terrible.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who I love, but
[SPEAKER_00]: But this in theory would then involves the custodes and the defense of Terra and makes it better.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, I do have to foreshadow a little bit when Goge rises to power, the custodes have gone back to hiding and doing absolutely nothing.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a good idea though, but you get to modern Forty Kay, which does have the custos taken active role in the defense.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right, but that's still host sisters of battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, it's a weird writing mechanic, because we have this story where the custos rejoin the lords of Terra, or it's like, the custos have joined the lords of Terra.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the custos are involved.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but nah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's it was real strength.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't make a lot of meetings.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going to do the throw up one of my favorites saying some Australia.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, nah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of what happens here.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's not the only effect of the war of the beast.
[SPEAKER_00]: The next one is more on what it proved, which is the lords of terror could not be trusted.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so because they are a pile of proof.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And each lords of terror then actually goes the wrong way here and being into doing even bigger job of solidifying their power.
[SPEAKER_00]: because after seeing what happened with Van Gourge, they began to actually work even more to insulate themselves and protect themselves because they don't want to get murdered by the head of the assassins again.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they then start scheming to protect themselves even better than before, which is kind of how Goge ends up rising the power much later.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's because of this type of insulation that happens amongst lords of terror, they're no longer working with each other at all.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I would actually argue that post this, the Imperial leadership is more fractured than it was even before.
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with that because we actually continue to get that.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is why I think it has such rippling effect because this is how we get the each branch of the Imperium, be their own thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the only thing that even keeps them together is the unbelievable layers of bureaucracy that form around keeping these different branches even connected at all.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: So from there, I would talk about the effectiveness base marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple that come out of this.
[SPEAKER_00]: one of which we haven't touched on at all, so you're using a fun long story told short.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll start off with obviously the new legion of the death watch.
[SPEAKER_00]: The creation of the death watch is a massive boon for the space marine factions because we covered it as we covered in this episode's first off.
[SPEAKER_00]: It takes a ton of responsibility and logistical challenges away from the Space Marine chapters, because they're broken up by the second founding.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were still designed as a catch-all.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every Space Marine chapter was meant to be self-sufficient.
[SPEAKER_00]: They can take on all commerce, whereas the death watch were specific.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were made specifically to handle Xeno threats, and specifically made to do small incursions.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is something that the Space Marines couldn't do.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, I would argue and we see this in the game Space Marine, too.
[SPEAKER_00]: The effect of serving the Death Watch significantly improves the Space Marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: They become better soldiers because they begin cross-training.
[SPEAKER_00]: They get better knowledge.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everything, the Death Watch makes the Space Marines better.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that's a huge thing in the way the space means operating now because every time they get a death watch back, they are required to just they expect them to give out as soon as Billy gets back from the death watch, you're supposed to be giving all of that new knowledge that knows new tactics, the new weaponry, the new whatever.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, not all the new weapon.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't forget some of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a big one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Bye.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
[SPEAKER_01]: That all over the web.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're talking to your the inquisitor or your chaplain.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, I don't know you're talking about.
[SPEAKER_01]: I never seen any of this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, all the tactics and the things that they're supposed to give, it makes the chapter stronger.
[SPEAKER_01]: It makes, and they keep doing that.
[SPEAKER_01]: They keep giving their best to the best back.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then when they come back, they again,
[SPEAKER_01]: rising tides, raises all ships.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Marines actually just become a better fighting forces, just by having this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Another big one that happens is the increase in the size, sorry, the increase in the number of space Marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thane orders this new founding.
[SPEAKER_00]: And whereas the prior founding's had to expand their chapter, is the fourth founding really was as much an expansion of chapters.
[SPEAKER_00]: It did exist, but the biggest piece happened was kind of a refilling of the troop numbers.
[SPEAKER_00]: because as the relative piece had spread throughout the galaxy that happened right before the war of the beast, there wasn't the recruitment levels weren't as aggressive.
[SPEAKER_00]: What you saw, as we've talked about in a lot of our space marine casts, the space marine's would only choose a few people to be allowed through the process.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I would argue at times looking at you space wolves, they became a little bit too selective.
[SPEAKER_00]: and they would only take the absolute perfect and best.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what was happening was that resulted in their numbers not really increasing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Between stains direction, but also just the knowledge that hit all of the chapters of what happened to War the Beast, it became more apparent that they needed numbers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so the size the space marines went up.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is also because with the war of the beast, the first time humanity's fought something that could really wreck a regular human, they realized, hey, we need more super soldiers.
[SPEAKER_00]: The imperial navy and the purigard just will not be able to handle some of these things.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or if they do, they're going to lose millions of them at a time.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this poses, and this timing is really good, because in less than fifty years, so that the war that beast ends right about five, fifty of M. thirty two, and habitats almost six hundred thirty.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so you have right that's within fifty years, have it on launch as the second black crusade.
[SPEAKER_00]: which would have honestly wrecked the imperium.
[SPEAKER_00]: If the beast had happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they were not ready for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We were infighting.
[SPEAKER_01]: We were actively trying to stop each other to get personal gain for sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, one side story that occurs in all the war of the beast and people who've read the books have probably been upset that we haven't covered it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So of course I'm covering it now.
[SPEAKER_00]: is a really great story about a chapter falling into chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I wanted to cover this here because we get a lot of questions in the discord about how does chaos get more numbers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is actually how they do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: They convince chapters to fall into chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so we're going to tell a quick story, but we'll tell a long story quick.
[SPEAKER_00]: While the war of the beast is occurring, there's a very strange alliance that occurs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Orcs were all over the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And in one area, this great war of war actually found itself attacking iron warriors.
[SPEAKER_00]: again, trade religion.
[SPEAKER_00]: The iron warriors got overrun and they had to retreat from the orcs.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they eventually found themselves in a situation where they had orcs attacking them on one side and black templar attacking another and then in peril fists coming in.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the iron warriors looked around and said, look, can we get a true skies to the imperial fist successors and actually the Black Templars, but side note there, because they knew if they all fought each other, the orcs would kill them all.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so they agree not to align, but to stop shooting at each other initially.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it helps that they're actually able to repel the orcs.
[SPEAKER_00]: But as this war, the beast is going on, the orcs
[SPEAKER_00]: conflict continues to grow and grow and grow until the iron warriors and the imperial fists find themselves basically back to back firing at the orcs.
[SPEAKER_01]: And for the first time ever, it's a cool story in this because a lot of this is written from the POV of worship.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what ends up happening, and I do like this story because I should have mentioned, remember the iron warriors are not a corrupted legion the way the death guard, the emperor's children, the world leaders love of God all are.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they look like space marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: The iron warriors despite being trader still, they don't have a large number of possessed in their army.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're a space marine, and you see the iron warriors, they look like you.
[SPEAKER_00]: They might still have the big armor, but that's about the only thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is also thousands of years before all of the demonic engines started.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the iron warriors looked like just a regular chapter, but they are in theory, trader.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the inferiority part that begins to infect it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this conflict, by the way, is the far side of the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this alliance, what happens, they begin fighting together with iron warriors and the successor chapter begin fighting together.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the successor chapter is ironically the fist exemplar, which is where things came from, by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's an important one.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as this conflict goes, there's a variant.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't pronounce this correctly.
[SPEAKER_00]: Zerberin, who's the leader of this fist exemplar, becomes closely aligned with a war Smith, war Smith's way really is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Calcore, who is the head of the Iron Warriors here.
[SPEAKER_00]: they begin fighting side by side and succeeding.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Zerben fails to really see the heresy in Calcutor.
[SPEAKER_00]: What he sees is a fellow soldier who just wants to do what's best for his soldiers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it also each time that he does something that could be considered heretical, he
[SPEAKER_00]: does it while they're winning a battle against the horse?
[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's what happens.
[SPEAKER_00]: All of the things Calcutor does that are in theory, bad, are for the, they never save Calcutor's troops, but also Zerberman's troops.
[SPEAKER_00]: And there are iron warriors sacrificing themselves to save this exemplar.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this begins to make Calcutor a question, the truth of the heresy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not because he's being manipulated by chaos because he actually wasn't.
[SPEAKER_00]: He may have been a little bit here, but it really was him just watching the actions of someone he was told is the most evil creature on earth.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is again, when why did you keep letting Cass be a secret to most everyone, including most Marines?
[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you knew about this, well, spotted something.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, because some of the things that Zerber and Mist were the cultists and some of the dark arts being performed, he didn't know what they were.
[SPEAKER_00]: There were people following them who did have marks on their skin, but he didn't know what they meant.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were doing these rituals, which he doesn't know that the war exists.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Calcutta or this things, oh yeah, they're just praying and it's working out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a convenient.
[SPEAKER_00]: But eventually this story has to come to a sad conclusion.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the sad conclusion happens after the beast ends.
[SPEAKER_00]: and the Black Templar arrives.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the Black Templar pulls her, but aside, you know the guy you've been talking to is a traitor, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of need you to go kill him now, or I'm going to kill you because I'm assuming you're with him.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Black Templar give him two choices.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kill Calcutor, or we will purge you.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Zermorin takes option three.
[SPEAKER_00]: He pledges his loyalty to Calcutor, and he and what's left of his troops become traders.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they effectively, I believe they join the Iron Legion, the Iron Wars, this point.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the first recorded time since the horror's heresy of a chapter falling to chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I like this story because this is what ends up happening more and more as we go through.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because as Brad was saying before, we don't, the Space Marines don't really know.
[SPEAKER_00]: about chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't understand.
[SPEAKER_00]: They just think these guys, it was a revolution.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this isn't like the, well, we're Americans will use civil war.
[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't like a soldier from the South with a soldier from the North who both were just poor people who ended up joining forces.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now they're shooting it for no reason.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, one of these people has the power of the dark gods flowing through them and maybe you should tell someone that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, from there, I want to talk more about the effect of the war of the beast on the imperial citizens.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is one of the biggest ones, post-war of the beast, because it changes how the imperial functions.
[SPEAKER_00]: As we said before, the Imperium was always a massive propaganda machine.
[SPEAKER_00]: It has been since since the pre-great crusade.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is yes, but no, hold the phone, my friend, because we had propaganda in lower case, which after the war of the beast, the propaganda became
[SPEAKER_01]: all caps and also how they win about it and they also made it so that if you are not one of us, you as an imperial citizen shouldn't just tell of them, you should be shooting people in the streets kind of thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the truth.
[SPEAKER_01]: everyone needs to do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: The propaganda was they turned that to a level.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so the imperium needs the imperial citizenry to fall in line.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so looking for better ways to do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: And after the success of the proitarian crusade, where they've commenced tens of millions of them to go grab a kitchen knife and try to fight Norqu with it, they go, oh, this seems to work really well.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the power struggle that's going on with the lords of Terra, as a death advantage, the Ecclesiarchy starts to come out pretty far ahead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because the other lords of Terra could wield economic or military power, the Ecclesiarchy realized they could wield the power of populism.
[SPEAKER_01]: And within it, it's, I would say, the power of belief, you know, well, it's so power of these, but they have the numbers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what the game they begin to play.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so the ecclesiarchy leans in hard on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get as many people aligned with the Emperor is the God.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I am the voice of that God as possible.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this actually, to be fair, I can't do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just, to be fair, I just cracked my try.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: This actually is quite beneficial for the imperium in the short term, because at the end of the war of the beast, chaos is about to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, we say it's so crazy on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's short term.
[SPEAKER_01]: It works for like thousands of years.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a couple of thousand years short term.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like short term.
[SPEAKER_00]: It actually, it's pretty long.
[SPEAKER_00]: It actually technically is still working.
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, what they're able to do is because the Imperium member that they can't tell the Imperials is and it's about chaos as we've discovered.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about what cover the first word of an army getting at some point.
[SPEAKER_00]: But what they do is they align the imperium behind the gold light of the emperor, which helps them convince people to hunt down people who are doing heretical actions, corruption, and all that kind of stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have to tell them that these people are actually agents of the dark gods.
[SPEAKER_00]: They just say, this person's not doing what the emperor is supposed to do, let us know.
[SPEAKER_00]: It does also set up Goge, then deer coming up later.
[SPEAKER_00]: But for now, short term, it's pretty good.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's also really, really good for the Inquisition.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because the Inquisition, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so funny because you have it as the Inquisition got split into orders, Malias, which was the anti-cance.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then what we just formed, which was the Ordesinos, which is the anti-aliant, because we have the alien, a Xenos threat that was worth doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they didn't go, hey, you guys go here, you guys go here.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, they went,
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's double and or try.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they may have to double.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what they say.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so they split in the sense that before there's one head of the inquisition, now there were two heads of the inquisition, who immediately recruited enough people to fill out entire inquisitions below them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the Ordo's quick and the Ordo Malias have the great nights already.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Ordo Zinos now get the death watch.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is massive growth.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is also, again, kind of beneficial for the Imperium, because there's seen no infestations grow quite quickly, and there's about to be a lot more of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so thankfully, the death watch come into play, because you're about to get Eldar coming back into the galaxy here, but they're about to re-align, right about now, as the campgrounds is first in fact, that comes back.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as durable as that that has now taken control of camera and so now to see more raids.
[SPEAKER_00]: So thankfully, we've got the death watch who are now here at the tower still not important to stage.
[SPEAKER_00]: Some things don't change.
[SPEAKER_00]: But one of the greatest lasting legacies though, beyond all of this is
[SPEAKER_00]: Olenor itself.
[SPEAKER_00]: So Olenor, the new system that it has teleported into is the system called Armageddon.
[SPEAKER_00]: Olenor becomes the main planet within Armageddon.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the admiq had successfully stripped the planet of technology, but in stripped of resources.
[SPEAKER_00]: So as these colonists arrive,
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a massive plant.
[SPEAKER_00]: So these colonists arrive in a system and there's effectively a bonus planet there.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this bonus plant is larger than every other planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: And is actually not that far off terraformed, because don't forget, they already, the imperial already colonized it at the end of the Great Crusade.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they terraformed it then.
[SPEAKER_00]: The orcs did some damage, but the orcs didn't turn into an irradiated wasteland.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they come in there, which ironically, of course, they turned to a hive role, which makes it narrated wasteland, but that's not important for now.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Imperium turns this planet into Armageddon, is what they name it, because it was still a little bit rough, thanks to all the orc technology.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was some weird stuff that happened there, but it was a massive planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: Congratulations, Imperium.
[SPEAKER_00]: You just put the greatest orc beacon in the entire galaxy in the same system, or the same segment.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the same segment as soul.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they draw and man does arm again and do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Draws all the worst parts of the enemies of the Imperium effectively right into segment and solar.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to finish this cast without talking about the works.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about what is the best part of the entire game, the works.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now,
[SPEAKER_01]: It would give you the thing for the correct.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's because this is a big thing online.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is right.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so whether it's orc orc.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not, it is an orc.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so the reason why people get confused by this as they should.
[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously I was too.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was corrected.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a random book that gave me the information on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you have a giant orc whose very smart and has incredible psychic powers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, most people think that the beast was a quirk, and that if you just, if an orch gets enough power going through it, the orch will turn into a quirk.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we're actually helped, it's a later book, and I forget the name of it, but there was an alpharsier who actually explained humanity.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, the beast was amazing, but he was nothing compared to a quirk.
[SPEAKER_00]: The quirk were larger, smarter, way more powerful.
[SPEAKER_00]: The beast was really nothing more than a very powerful war boss.
[SPEAKER_01]: Specifically, psychically positive.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the corp, we're almost perfect race.
[SPEAKER_00]: The truth is the beast is not that far off from Gaskill.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're pretty similar, the beast in Gaskill.
[SPEAKER_00]: So just for people who are wondering, I will try and find the book and leave it in the show, not somewhere, but it was an Eldar, if you don't just Google it, and people have it all over Reddit, but there was an Eldar Farseer who gave them this story.
[SPEAKER_00]: which does help feed the narrative that Gork and Mork.
[SPEAKER_00]: In my mind, we're more likely the last two quirk.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I think Gork and Mork really were.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were the final quarks and then they died, however, and it became that.
[SPEAKER_00]: But remember, we talked about the primorcs on the last one.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting my treat together.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually focusing on meditating, floating right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm in ignore these said primarx again, and I'm going to talk about the foul.
[SPEAKER_01]: They could be the foul news of the orclans.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the orclans are cool as hell.
[SPEAKER_01]: Orclans are awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The bad moods.
[SPEAKER_01]: Shouldy orks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Blood Axis, sneaky orks, evil sons, paint things red because red goes fast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone knows this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Deskles, the luckiest orks who also love looting things and they don't do enough of it in the current game.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to go.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Snake bites, you say of the spiritual words, but these are the guys that think that newfangled technology is making a soft.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, then you got the goffs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is the current default for orcs?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's where it goes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I struggle with snake bites candidly because I don't know where they fit in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like as a bad moons shoot, blood acts as sneak.
[SPEAKER_00]: Evil suns go fast.
[SPEAKER_00]: Death skulls sneak.
[SPEAKER_00]: Goths hit thing hard.
[SPEAKER_00]: What do the snake bites do?
[SPEAKER_00]: That's different than any of those.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the squigs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so hit things hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: They would be up and I'm saying they should in my mind a snake by it's army should be just be shockful.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just it'd be boys be snag of boys and these boys be staying it should be that it just squig writers and people.
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess it works.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just I'm always I just always have that they're the one to me that doesn't quite fit in.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just that that's my favorite just because I love the idea of these.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's going these guys are using that newfangled stuff and they're not tough enough, you know, and they're just riding a beast in fair enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, we both that we both know a job player.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I've got.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, what you're missing is a good cavalry charge though.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, a good chance.
[SPEAKER_00]: Still proud that I played in a major.
[SPEAKER_00]: I played seven games and never one time shot a gun because I played melee works.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I did have a hundred and fifty of them, which helps.
[SPEAKER_00]: Finally, the reason we brought those six up is as you remember, the beast had the seven banners with all the seven statues.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he does.
[SPEAKER_00]: He actually founded these six or clans.
[SPEAKER_00]: And these clans being founded create a massive problem for the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because before this, all the orcs were, they were all orcs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every orc group was just operated like orcs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now you have specialized orcs.
[SPEAKER_00]: And these specialized orcs start creating a lot of problems all around the galaxy, especially the death skulls.
[SPEAKER_00]: But being as the death skulls are a huge problem because they want to
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you could always strike a technology.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the evil sun's showing up and just overrunning your planet with whatever their buggy is, etc.
[SPEAKER_01]: Your blood acts is where actually looted vehicles.
[SPEAKER_00]: Blood acts are all over the galaxy appearing basically sneaking onto space stations and murdering people because, and then it's fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: The bad moons either don't deal with bad moons showing up plus one to hit sucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: and then the gulfs become the gulfs are a little bit of a problem and then guys go to curse and the gulfs become a real big problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, a lot of a problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is the things that before the war, the beast came around, orcs were just meandering about.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then from this point in history, the Orcs become a regular waga currents.
[SPEAKER_01]: A bunch of works get together.
[SPEAKER_01]: Enough get together.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wag happens.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to deal with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it keeps going over and over and over again.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is and this becomes just the routine of the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are now going to be almost endless wags.
[SPEAKER_00]: that the imperium now having learned their lesson knows they have to go deal with.
[SPEAKER_00]: They can't wait for them to burn out because I'm a few other very early on.
[SPEAKER_00]: We discussed this.
[SPEAKER_00]: It used to be when an orc law was forming.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is back when the elder still existed before the fall.
[SPEAKER_00]: The elder would see it happening and go, nope.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we just snuff it out.
[SPEAKER_00]: And also instantly snuff it out.
[SPEAKER_01]: The log wasn't even a log.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a log.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: They might have got started drawing the A and then boom.
[SPEAKER_00]: The elder there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this becomes the imperium thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the imperium, this becomes, it eats up a lot of the imperium.
[SPEAKER_00]: It eats up a lot of the death watch, but all the death watch can even handle the wall.
[SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of times the death watch have to handle the wall, and they have to go and get the support of the space marines in the form of a crusade.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason I say that last is that this is the end of this episode, so we're going to call this, so I think it's good enough coverage.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason I brought up Crusades in our next episode, I want to spend some time talking about the Crusades.
[SPEAKER_00]: What they are, how they form, who's in charge of them,
[SPEAKER_00]: missions, et cetera, because it's something that we bring up a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then from there, it makes these to tell some of the more of the stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: Once you kind of listen, what a crusade really is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because they're more aligned with some of the crusades of the Middle Ages, but as all with all GW writing, it's in line with what the crusades were written to be, not what they actually were.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, quit ruining.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: John reads a lot of history and deal with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: That'll be next week, but I hope you guys enjoyed this coverage of the war that beast.
[SPEAKER_00]: We hope for those of you who've never read it.
[SPEAKER_00]: This was good information.
[SPEAKER_00]: We hope for those of you who have read it.
[SPEAKER_00]: You still felt we did it enough justice and covered a lot of the key parts.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure we did not, and I'm going to get grief and discord, which is fair.
[SPEAKER_00]: I always take it and try to improve next time.
[SPEAKER_00]: But until next week, this has been John Barsadi and Brad Jester.
[SPEAKER_00]: Take care.
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
