Speaker 4: Welcome, It's a hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

00:01:05
Speaker 5: Welcome back. I remember two Kentucky sports radio here at the Chaos Barn Grill. I just about ripped my headset off ef. I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. It is election day in Kentucky. Uh. People are sending me pictures of their weight. Say two hour wait in Middletown, Kentucky. Wow, that's Middletown. I guess that means Louisville, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, so early.

00:01:30
Speaker 2: You always kind of make your projections every year. Are you not gonna do that this year?

00:01:35
Speaker 5: It's the hardest one. I mean, you know, I got it wrong in twenty sixteen. I thought Hillary would win and Trump won actually ended up winning by a decent margin. I felt really good that Biden was gonna win, and then he did. I don't know what's gonna happen. I really don't. I mean I think this. I think they still don't know how to poll people. Really who I mean, nobody answers phone, Like, I mean, who's gonna how you gonna hold people?

00:02:02
Speaker 3: Like?

00:02:02
Speaker 5: Nobody answers her phone. So I don't know. I think there's three like, this is gonna sound simplistic, but I think there's three scenarios. Scenario one is that once again they undercount Trump's people. He wins most of the swing states and wins kind of like he did in twenty sixteen. Scenario two is that they're undercounting women by a pretty significant margin. She wins, women show up in masks because of the abortion decision and some other things. She wins most of the swing states and wins by a decent margin. And then I think the most likely scenario scenario three, where she wins Michigan, he wins Arizona and North Carolina, and its best two out of three falls Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia two out of three. Whoever wins two out of three wins. And I if if that's the scenario, no idea. I mean it like there's no like the numbers are so close. Like I talked to a guy who's high up in the Democratic Party. I talked to a I have a high up Democratic friend and a high a Republican friend. I said, the Democratic friend who's gonna win? He said, I think we win. We need Pennsylvania. We need to have four hundred thousand vote lead going into election day, we think we have four fifteen. Well that's pretty close, right, Like you're off. Then I talked to a guy, a Republican when and he said, I don't know if we're gonna win Pennsylvania, but I actually think we're gonna win Wisconsin, and if we win Wisconsin, we're good. Well, but he was like, but I don't know, so I don't think any of them know. So I think there's a chance it's uber Ryan, uber close. But if you're watching at home, here's all you need to do. Turn all the noise off, turn all the noise. Here's what you need to see. If Trump wins Michigan, he's president. If Harris wins Arizona or North Carolina, she's president. Wescont let's say that doesn't happen. Take Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. They're the only three states you need to look at. Whoever wins two out of three is the next president. That's all that matters. Everything else is just noise.

00:04:15
Speaker 2: And you think we will know by the end of the night. Almost I think we'll have.

00:04:21
Speaker 5: A good idea, but we won't know for sure. And I think when we get here tomorrow morning, we'll probably know, but they won't announce it. I'm gonna make you unless it's a route, they're not gonna announce it for days. Yeah. In my opinion, Trump will declare victory at I think the California polls close at eleven o'clock Eastern. He will declare victory right there. But that really doesn't matter. We'll have to see if somebody announces it.

00:04:50
Speaker 6: I need to know which do. I need to go YouTube, multiview and watch all the networks.

00:04:54
Speaker 5: I think you should watch none of them. If you want the one that's the least biased, watch c SPAN because they're bringing no pundits. They just want news. If you want to see people screaming at each other, go to see a new.

00:05:07
Speaker 6: I like to go back and forth and see how they're saying completely opposite things.

00:05:10
Speaker 5: Yeah. So, and then there's the one here the Amendment too. Yes, I think that one's gonna be crazy because normally, when you have an amendment, there's a side that Republicans want to win, there's a side that Democrats want to win. But on Amendment too, there's a lot of Democrats in Louisville that are for it because they already pay for private schools and they want some money back. And there's a lot of Republicans, rural people who are against it because they're worried about their state, about like their's their local schools. So it's gonna be a weird map, like it's gonna be like it's gonna be all over the place. I think it doesn't pass. I think no wins, but I think it's I don't know, because nobody's really pulling it and so I don't know.

00:05:52
Speaker 2: We're talking about we're talking about amendment one amendment too?

00:05:55
Speaker 5: Is there amber one Amendment one will pass? No, there's just two just okay, there's just yeah now and they're on the back, by the way, so people should know that it's double sided. And if you don't turn it to the back, there's there's no only two parks. That may be a Lexington City thing. I didn't Yeah, it wasn't in mind. So there may be one about parks. What's the parks go parks.

00:06:20
Speaker 6: You'll you'll lose a little more of your tax dollars to help out our parks so that you.

00:06:24
Speaker 5: Can get parks. Yeah, that's not much. That's what I didn't see that we need our parks. All right, Uh, let's talk about a couple other things. Did you know Doran Lamb and Marcus Tigue have a podcast, Buddy? But not only do I know?

00:06:39
Speaker 6: I love it and I have chatted with Doron about it, which made me very happy.

00:06:44
Speaker 5: Doran is gonna come on this show in a couple of weeks to promote it. But yes, Doran and I have talked about it too. They have their first episode up. He asked h if Big Blue Nation. He was like, do you think Big Blue Nation will support it? And I said, well, I'm gonna tell him to. But there's a Dorn Lamb Marcus Tige podcast. I'm trying to get the name of it. What's the name of something? Who up it should be? It should be called Team Notes. It's called Back Court Connection, Back Court Connection, Doron Lamb and Marcus Tigh talking about sports.

00:07:17
Speaker 6: I'll go ahead and tell you if you want to learn more about the twenty twelve year, I would encourage you to listen to it. I would not have my children in the room. The language is aggressive, but I loved every minute of it. I feel like they said some things maybe they should have kept themselves.

00:07:35
Speaker 5: If you want to learn more about talking about podcast. It's really no filter. Get dorand Lamb and Marcus Tige on a live mic, because that's what it is.

00:07:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope they don't talk basketball. I want them to talk about everything else outside of basketball.

00:07:49
Speaker 5: I think you're gonna get your wish.

00:07:51
Speaker 6: I like, at one point, they both they're the first two athletes who have said I'm glad we didn't have an al and the host is like why and they're like, we would have blown it in room in our lives in seconds.

00:08:01
Speaker 5: So yes, they were like we were better off not having money at that time. Yeah, they asked him. They asked Iron Lamb like what if it was in IL, and he goes, I'd have gone to Miami and spin all of them.

00:08:11
Speaker 6: Yeah, they talk about how in IL. I never thought about this, but you know, they know players. They're like, so many more guys are just going to go to Rutgers now, which we've seen them. It's like guys can be selfish, be the star and get paid. So you know, you hear a lot of people thinking the opposite. You know, it just helps guys go to a big school. But they're talking about how they would have gone to smaller schools, gotten a big check and just taken all the shots.

00:08:31
Speaker 5: Wow. So h if you, if you, if you want to see kind of if today you want to get a distraction, something completely different than what's going on in the world. Uhron Lamb and Marcus Tger The Way to Go not safe for work. I cannot do not do not listen to it with your kids. But they have their own podcast.

00:08:53
Speaker 2: I know what I'm doing the rest of the afternoon to that podcast.

00:08:56
Speaker 5: That's right. Who's up next?

00:08:57
Speaker 4: Nate?

00:08:57
Speaker 5: Nate? How are you Nate? Doing?

00:09:01
Speaker 2: Good?

00:09:01
Speaker 5: Guys? How are you good?

00:09:04
Speaker 6: Awesome?

00:09:04
Speaker 7: First time? Long time?

00:09:05
Speaker 5: Who are Zadarius Smith just traded this morning to the Detroit Lions, so he will probably have a chance to play for a Super Bowl former cat Zadaria Smith. They good for them? Good good. H that's very good for him. Gets out of Cleveland and will be uh on the lines, but go aheads and replacement.

00:09:22
Speaker 8: Yeah no, uh.

00:09:23
Speaker 7: You know your post game last night, Matt summing up, well, I mean that was just a beautiful basketball masterpiece last night. I mean, I know they didn't play as a fishing as they usually do, but it was just good, you know, and our best player Jack Trappison only had like eight or nine points and we still won about forty one. And I mean, you know, he's gonna get everybody's best defender. So you know, for us to have those multiple for us to have those multiple options, it's gonna be really good for our team because he's gonna be guarded heavily. He's gonna be the you know, the biggest one of the scattering reports, you know, you know, throughout the throughout the year. So it was just good to see. And you know, Drea said it best. You know, Lamon Butler take a oway in the back court. Man, those those guys right there, they're gonna be some lockdown defenders and they're gonna really make some problems for for SAC guards. You know, come come throughout the season.

00:10:07
Speaker 5: Listen, they are I appreciate the call. They are beautiful the basketball. I mean, we we shouldn't skip over just how pretty it is to watch. It's so much fun to watch guys who pass, cut, constant movement shoot well, like it's just like that's just really ryan fun to watch.

00:10:28
Speaker 2: Executing plays and then doing efficiently and not making any mistakes and making the right pass and making the right decisions, getting open looks, passing up a good shot for a great shot. Did that a couple of times, Kurt Kurt.

00:10:39
Speaker 5: Gave up a layup, a wide open layup to kick out for a three that we made the play of the night. That was the lookaway three. Also first play of the game.

00:10:47
Speaker 6: They run that play to get Andrew Carr the wide open lob that he finished for the first two points. At one point they ran an inbounds play for a dunk. I didn't even know you could do that. I didn't know that was in the rules. They ran the inbounds play for a three. Also didn't know what they sorcery was. There's just the extra past thing is what gets me most. The curs one example, but so many times they have an open look, defender closes out, jumps and up, I'm gonna pass it to this wide open shooter next to me because I trust him too.

00:11:11
Speaker 5: And that has to be like a mentality like that, cause it's infectious. You have to do You have to have a situation where guys do it which they know their teammates will do it for them, so then they do it too. Like that, if you had one guy that if you have one guy that got selfish. I'm not sure that everybody else would do it too.

00:11:30
Speaker 2: That's right, the whole team does it.

00:11:31
Speaker 6: It didn't go in, but at the end there was a sequence They've made so many passes all around the court to get Trenton Noah wide open right after the crowded and we want to know it. He didn't make it, but the ball movement on that was amazing, and it was a lot of the guys that won't even be playing that much.

00:11:45
Speaker 5: By the way, the second most popular person in rupp Aerna, next to Mark Pope last night was Mario. Like fans literally changing his name from the crowd is Mario. I mean, you know, don't act like you don't know that, Like people just start yelling at him wherever he goes.

00:12:01
Speaker 6: I saw him outside right before the game doing videos, just a little celest.

00:12:05
Speaker 5: Much more popular than you now.

00:12:07
Speaker 2: Oh, there is no doubt he's a superstar right now.

00:12:10
Speaker 5: Like he's completely taken over.

00:12:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, well we look about the same, we're both really cute. Yeah, you don't look.

00:12:16
Speaker 5: The same, great hair or not. And he's literally less than half your age.

00:12:20
Speaker 6: I noticed this at the TVT this summer Mari and we hung out at all those games, and like players would leave the layup line to come talk to.

00:12:27
Speaker 5: Mario fans or Mario Mario. That's what I knew. We have an a list CLEB with us. Yeah, somebody's gonna have to bring his ego down a notch because like he's getting, he's he's getting way too much, way too much attention. Who's next? Mart Bart? Go ahead?

00:12:42
Speaker 9: Bart, Hey, mat first time, long time?

00:12:45
Speaker 5: Who?

00:12:47
Speaker 9: So my question is, last week, you guys did a prediction on how long you thought Mark Pope would be coach at Kentech, and I think the range was somewhere between ten and fifteen years. And I don't know if y'all have discuss it, but my follow up would be how many national championships do we win in that ten to fifteen year period under Pope?

00:13:07
Speaker 5: Well, we all I think agreed one. I mean, I think if he went, you know, the average national championship winning that Kentucky has won in a career. Obviously Rupp did more, but Joe b got one, Rick got one, Tubby got one, Cal got one. So I think if if if you're just kind of looking at history, I think the most likely scenario is that Mark Pope wins.

00:13:29
Speaker 9: Won Okay, great and was plugged. But my wife's architecture firm is did the renovation on historic Memorial Coliseum.

00:13:41
Speaker 5: Well that it's very good. You know, I appreciate the call they play Thursday night, and I just want to give a little shout to anyone that has no plans Thursday night going to that women's game would first of all, if you have not been in that arena, let's just say it's a lot nicer than rough. Oh yeah, a lot nice. I mean, it is the most modern facility in Lexington. It's beautiful. The team. I know it gets overshadowed because of the men, but the women's team is fun to watch. They're they like you' oanna go because I think by SEC play you're gonna see huge crowds in there because it is a like it is a fun experience and it's so nice inside.

00:14:26
Speaker 2: When I'm there for the Blue White game, if you just don't, if you don't, you know, just block out where you are and you just look at what you see. You think you're in an NBA arena. I mean that's how nice it is. Right now, it's the lights, the music, the book, the scoreboards, everything is like top Natra, beautiful little basket fault.

00:14:46
Speaker 5: Shandon want us to remind us he's still here. He's like, I'm gonna drop the Lithuania thing and make sure people know that I'm still there. DraftKings College Basketball. I won a fourteen team parlay last night. WHOA, Well, it's a little misleading because it was all teams that were minus two thousand or greater. So you know, but it but it's fun. Yes, Uh, it was good because I lost the Baylor game. But tonight not a lot of great choices tonight. I'm gonna be honest with you. But Idaho State plays Arizona State. If you're feeling if you're feeling Jaden Quainton's game, Yeah, it's right. You can go to DraftKings promo code KSR get your college basketball bets. As the season gets going, Drew and I will have a pick of the night. Uh that will be on the website for you to to go in college basketball. But check it out DraftKings uh, and please gamble responsibly. We'll take a break and be right back. Is Kentucky Sports Radio is the hardest part. It is true, though, Shannon, waiting is the hardest part of anything.

00:15:48
Speaker 4: There's a lot of those Tom Petty songs.

00:15:50
Speaker 5: Tom Petty was right, and it's not just true about games or or just life. The waiting. Like think about when you go to the doctor's office and you're and you take a test and you're waiting for the results. The waiting is the hardest part. Once you know, well, you just move, you deal with whatever it is. But it's the waiting. Like I hate if if a doctor calls and I can't answer it, and then you come back and.

00:16:19
Speaker 2: Go, uh oh, what.

00:16:21
Speaker 5: Did they need? Like that's the ryan I find. The waiting is the hardest part. Tom Petty is right.

00:16:27
Speaker 2: That's why when somebody asks us one time, what superpower would we want, I immediately chose never have to wait in line. Don't know waiting nowhere anyhow, that's your superpower.

00:16:36
Speaker 5: I don't know if that's a superpower exactly.

00:16:41
Speaker 2: Impatient, waiting line, don't have to wait at the doctor's office. Don't have to all right.

00:16:46
Speaker 5: So one thing I do want to say, if any of our listeners out there live in Chicago or close to Chicago. On Sunday, Matt uh the Matt myern pregame show is in Chicago at the Bear Stadium, and I'd love to have you come out. They want to. They were like, we hope you can. We hope some of your fans will come see you in Chicago. So it is at Soldier Field and I'd love to have you all stop by. Now here's where it is, Okay, it is in the Busy Chicago Bears fan Zone Shannon Busy Chicago Bears fan Zone outside of Gate zero.

00:17:25
Speaker 2: How do you spell busy v i zz y?

00:17:30
Speaker 5: And here's what they have there. This is very exciting. This is the kind of thing you want. They have food, beverage and many monsters.

00:17:38
Speaker 2: Many monsters.

00:17:40
Speaker 10: Oh what's so many monster?

00:17:42
Speaker 5: I don't know, don't know what a mini monster is, but they're gonna have them there. But that Sunday morning, ten to one Eastern, so that'll be nine to twelve Chicago time at the Busy Chicago Bear Zone. I'm very excited because I get to go to the Bears game. I've only been I've never been to a game at Soldier Field really my entire life. I've seen him in Cincinnati, I've seen him in Nashville. I've seen them in Cleveland. I've never been to a game in Soldier Field, and so after we finished the show, we get to go sit with the ESPN people in a suite at Soldier Field.

00:18:16
Speaker 2: I was there a couple of years ago and they played the Chiefs and went to watch Devon in an exhibition game. It's it's it's awesome.

00:18:22
Speaker 5: I've been my entire life and never been in It's not that far away. I've just never been able to go. So it's a big game.

00:18:29
Speaker 4: Many Monsters is for kids, so you'll be there with all the kids.

00:18:32
Speaker 5: Oh, it's for kids.

00:18:33
Speaker 10: Yeah, hence many monsters.

00:18:35
Speaker 5: Many monsters. Please help me from having to listen to kids scream about their many monsters at the busy zone. If you're in Chicago on, you're gonna wear your new Caleb Williams jersey. Yeah, I'm gonna wear Bears gear. I'm gonna come back with a lot of beer. I'm buying the team stores getting uh because all my Bear switch shirts kind of suck, so I'm looking forward to getting new new.

00:18:57
Speaker 10: Can I ask you something as a Bears fan?

00:18:59
Speaker 4: Yeah, how do you feel about Tyreek Stevenson taking himself out of practice after he got demoted.

00:19:04
Speaker 5: Well, they said he just did it for a few minutes, but clearly I'm you know that dude's not my favorite player. Yeah, And going back to the thing, I mean that hail Mary may have cost him the season. I mean they they played so bad against Arizona. We need a new coach though iber flues, uh he eber sucks. We need to get We need to get somebody new and restart. This quarterback's too good. Let's not waste him with the bad coach. Let's go get somebody good.

00:19:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's definitely super talented, going to be a superstar for a long time.

00:19:32
Speaker 5: But let's get rid of eber Flus. He's terrible. Let's let's start over. So who's next, Tony Tony, go ahead, Tony Tony, Right, all right, No, Tony, Luke, go ahead, Luke.

00:19:50
Speaker 11: Hey, guys, just wanted to say one thing about the game and one thing about the election that scares me, if I may so. One thing about the game. Everybody wants to talk about the offense and fun it is to watch, and I agree, but I was more impressed by the defensive end of the floor. We got a couple of things.

00:20:06
Speaker 9: That you need.

00:20:07
Speaker 11: You always need two really good perimeter defenders, and you need a shot blocker, and we have.

00:20:11
Speaker 5: Both of those. You're exactly right, and.

00:20:14
Speaker 11: Yes, and one thing about the election, So the twenty twenty census kind of got screwed up, and basically the Census Bureau has admitted it got screwed up, which basically means that Florida should technically have two more electoral votes.

00:20:28
Speaker 5: Okay, like New York And just stop listen. I technically schmchnically, somebody's gonna win deny and you can technically all the way, whether it is flo whether it is Trump, or whether it is Harris. We got to stop this. Well technically the flood like like we at some point in this country have to come together and like talking that the twenty twenty census may have gotten screwed up. And I just don't think that's productive, sir, do you? Why? Why is that productive?

00:20:55
Speaker 11: Well, here's my point. This is why I say it scares me. This is my point. I'm not I'm just I'm saying.

00:21:00
Speaker 8: This is my point.

00:21:01
Speaker 11: Why it scares me because obviously Florida would ensue, which goes to the Supreme Court.

00:21:07
Speaker 5: They would have had to do that a long time ago, and it's too late, like it's been four years, so they would have had to do that a long time ago. And and that's not gonna happen. So I do hope people take a deep breath tonight. I appreciate the call like it's gonna be our ey see.

00:21:23
Speaker 2: I don't look forward to that. If we have days of stealing the elections.

00:21:28
Speaker 5: That's gonna happen. People are gonna say that no matter who wins, but like it's gonna be our eyed. I hope everything. That's why. That's why you say what I said yesterday. Whoever wins, I hope they win by a lot.

00:21:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, I do.

00:21:44
Speaker 5: Who even if it's not my guy or a woman, I hope they win by a lot. Cover spread cover, that's exactly right. Whoever wins needs to cover the spring. Good candidates win, great candidates come. Who's next? Jay? Go ahead? Jay?

00:22:00
Speaker 12: Not only my first time caller, I'm a first time listener. Who there was something about thank you last Nuch game. Something really upset me. And for all the time, all the talk that Coach Pope has had about how much it means to wear Kentucky jersey, what it means to the state. We had Trevor and uh Travis sitting a convention until the last three minutes. He missed.

00:22:25
Speaker 5: Trent if he because if he's got you get his name right, go ahead.

00:22:30
Speaker 12: I could cut out my tongue. I'm still upset. Uh, those two guys were the Kentucky guys. He missed the golden opportunity to let those two young men come in and score in the first game of their career.

00:22:43
Speaker 5: So so you know, they played four minutes, they both had they both had shots. They both missed them.

00:22:51
Speaker 12: Well, yes, so did a lot of other people have shots.

00:22:54
Speaker 5: And listen, I love those kids. I'm I said this on the post games show, and I may have to talk about it after the break. How much times left.

00:23:03
Speaker 10: Shandon just a few seconds here about that.

00:23:05
Speaker 5: Let me deal with that after the after the break, because I do want to talk about those two kids, because I think they're both awesome. But we also right after the break, we'll take a break. We'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. T J Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ He'll make them pay.

00:23:26
Speaker 4: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:30
Speaker 10: Here's Matt Joe.

00:23:30
Speaker 2: Everything's gonna be all right, Ryan, Yes, oh my oh, I love this song.

00:23:38
Speaker 5: I mean, I know it's gonna be all right for you because like you're going to sleep find either way. That's one thing I know about you. Like you're not gonna let anything get in your.

00:23:45
Speaker 2: That's what I'm really worried about tonight. I gave everything I had to stay up to the end of that Buccaneers Chiefs game last night.

00:23:52
Speaker 5: That was a great, great ending one. You think the Bucks should have gone for two? Yes, Why didn't they go for two? You don't get the ball back to Patrick Mahomes ever. You know if Mames gets the ball, you're losing. Yep, So just go for two. He gave you a chance because he hurt his ankle. Go for two.

00:24:06
Speaker 2: Oh for two on the road you had You just drove it down the field. You got all the momentum.

00:24:12
Speaker 5: Do you see Kelsey had more catches than any person thirty five or over in the history of the NFL last night he had fourteen catches. Nobody that old has ever had that many catches in the game. He catches.

00:24:25
Speaker 2: He is so good man, He just dominated.

00:24:27
Speaker 5: Did you see Jason Kelsey's apology I did. What do you think do you think he needed to apologize?

00:24:34
Speaker 6: I didn't think he needed too, But I mean, I guess it was fine that he did. I never really heard him sorry. I feel like they're still a little bit.

00:24:39
Speaker 5: He didn't say I'm sorry. I'm glad too.

00:24:43
Speaker 9: You know.

00:24:43
Speaker 5: He said I shouldn't have acted like that. I matched hate with hate and you should never do that, which I thought was fine. But he also didn't apologize. There you could tell it was a part of him. It was like, you deserved it, kid, but I shouldn't have done it. You see, that kid is on the Penn State like soccer. He's on some team at Penn State. Figure wouldn't be long. I knew they were gonna find him. I mean, you knew they were gonna find him.

00:25:06
Speaker 6: He wanted attention, He's gonna get attention. Yeah, so on the uh not going for two things.

00:25:11
Speaker 5: I liked.

00:25:11
Speaker 6: In overtime when the Bucks or uh, when the Chiefs won the coin toss, Baker Mayfield just throws his head back like the lost. Yeah, like you homes the ball? You can't, you can't.

00:25:22
Speaker 5: I would bet Pat Like what is more money than Patrick Mahomes? With the ball needing a touchdown? Is there anyone else in sports? Like you know if it was if Jordan was down, you knew Jordan was scoring, right, you knew he was scoring. Is there anything else more money in sports that if Mahomes needs a drive, he's gonna go get it?

00:25:44
Speaker 6: No, because he's how many times have we seen him on a fourth and eighteen chuck it down the field and they get that and then drive another twenty yard. I mean, you can put their back all the way against the wall and he still seems to find his way.

00:25:54
Speaker 5: I'll take I'll take Mahomes over anybody, all right? Uh? Five twenty two seven? Remember where Chaos Ball open on Election Day? Got some good crowd here so far. That's good. Monique was gonna kill me if we open today and uh because she was like, I don't think we should be opening election day and I go, well, you know people are off, so all right, so let's talk about the Trent Noah Travis Perry because I think we're gonna get some version of this conversation all year. He doesn't put him in until four minutes to go. Some people frustrated about that. Here's my thing, this team this is their first real game, right. You got twelve players that have never played together before. If you're Mark Pope with Duke coming up next week, you gotta be as ready as you can be because he wants to win that game. He doesn't He's not looking at this as a process. He wants to go beat Duke. So if you're doing that, Travis Perry and Trent no and Travis Perry are the eleventh and twelfth men. I love the kids. I think they're gonna have good careers here, but they are the eleventh and twelfth men. You went to your team to get ready to play your best guys. Get them as many minutes as they can. It's not like they have a three years of having played together before. I was fine with him not putting them in until the end. If they are the eleventh and twelfth men, then that's about the amount of time the eleventh and twelveth men get, So Ryan, I was fine with it. What about you?

00:27:22
Speaker 2: I would have I would like to say him, maybe just a couple of minutes earlier because the game was forty point blowout with ten minutes left in the game. But I still understand the exactly what you said the thought process, so you might as well get used to it. Your post game show is is Richie gonna play tonight? That's gonna be? It was Trent and why had trenton Travis playing in a little more?

00:27:38
Speaker 5: But I mean, again, I love those kids, but the other guys are better. They are eighteen and nineteen year olds old. We have twenty three year old men on this team. We have twenty three year old men. Those kids are eighteen and nineteen. Like the men are gonna play like they just a yeah.

00:28:00
Speaker 6: And I guess last night, sure there might be an argument a minute or two earlier because you're up by so much. But Poe, if you look at the minutes, like six guys had between nineteen and twenty one minutes. I mean Kirk Rests only played like thirteen. I want him to get as many minutes as he can right now. We played Duke in a week. I like the Kentucky guys as much as anyone. But as you said there at the end of the bench, you had a caller on the postgame show that I thought was outrageous.

00:28:24
Speaker 5: He was like, I guess they're just not going to be read. Then it's like, well, no, they were never going to be reached. Yeah, and we we should never ask them to be read Shepard. Like I said on the postgame show, just because they're white dudes from Kentucky does not mean there read Shepherd. Okay, reed, Shepherd was a special athlete. He had the best I want to I mean, he had the best vertical jump in the NBA draft. Okay, stop like, they're not that and it's unfair to even put any of that on them. Yea, when Ansley Almonor think about it like this, When Ansley Almanor started his college career, Trent Noah was in eighth grade. Okay, so he's gonna be a little farther Alongah, Right, And that's just the way it is.

00:29:11
Speaker 2: I was glad that once they got in they didn't pull the ball out. They were still running the office, still, but still trying to get shots. I did appreciate that Trent had an open look, didn't go down.

00:29:21
Speaker 5: Go down. Travis drove he got blocked, I think, but he had Listen, those dudes are going Those dudes are gonna play here before they're done. Sure, but they might not play a lot this year. And that's just you gotta be Okay, we gotta be okay with that. Do you want to win or do you want to feel good? And I just don't. It's been one game and we're already doing this. Yeah, and when and here I will say, it's clear Pope wants to play ten guys. He likes and his style requires you to play ten guys. There will be games isure where players are hurt and Noah and Perry will fill those gaps. I do think that will happen. Even think about the thirty eight to one team. There were some games where people were hurt and they insert Derek Willis or Dominique Hawkins into the platoon. Yep, you remember, Oh, yes, that'll happen.

00:30:05
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:30:05
Speaker 5: So this year, as it goes on, who's next, Let's go to Thomas Thomas. What's up? Thomas?

00:30:13
Speaker 8: Hey?

00:30:13
Speaker 2: Matt.

00:30:13
Speaker 9: I was able to get out and vote this weekend, and uh, after reading Amendment one, I thought it was meant to exclude Louisville and Tennessee fans from voting.

00:30:21
Speaker 12: What what?

00:30:25
Speaker 5: All right? That'll be my whiskey thief cheap call today? That did make me giggle, Yeah, probably it made the Maye giggle. Shannon, right, even though.

00:30:35
Speaker 4: I mean, he called back like three times for that too. By the way, he did, he changed his name, called back three different times for that persistence that.

00:30:45
Speaker 5: We can see your names. By the way.

00:30:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, if you were Tony last week and you're Thomas this week, we know.

00:30:51
Speaker 5: We know.

00:30:53
Speaker 2: You've called too.

00:30:53
Speaker 5: By the way. I found this out about Billy on the postgame show. See, i'd never been in studio with Billy for the postgame show. If you pop up and Billy just doesn't think you're gonna give a good call this time, he just lets it go. Billy sees all the names and he's like, last time you called, I didn't think it was very good. I'm not answering you get He'll literally go. He gets a show.

00:31:15
Speaker 2: Off the power that he runs.

00:31:18
Speaker 5: Now it goes to Billy's head.

00:31:20
Speaker 6: Yeah, I noticed that when I was in there, we had two callers with the same name, and he's like, we don't want both of them.

00:31:25
Speaker 5: I'm like, what's not their fault. We don't know, we don't know anything. They're gonna say.

00:31:29
Speaker 10: We can have somebody just called in.

00:31:31
Speaker 4: Who is called five hundred and thirteen times? Would you like to take a guess who that might be?

00:31:36
Speaker 5: I'm a James Bingo. You got it. He is called five hundred and thirteen times. Yep, wow, five hundred and thirteen times.

00:31:47
Speaker 10: That's amazing.

00:31:48
Speaker 4: I have called any I think called like my mom fither hear thirteen times in my life.

00:31:54
Speaker 5: The lady run into my district's called me five hundred and thirteen times. I will say this best thing about this election, and I hope you win tonight. But Kamala Harris, if you text me again asking for money, I've blocked them all and they just keep coming. How many phones does she have? Amazing and they would be like one digit off I've noticed. Yes, it's I'm glad that and I'm glad that we can watch games now and not just see people. I mean that game, the Penn State Ohio State game. I don't know if you watched that. It was every ad, every commercial was political, and it was just those two. Thankfully, hopefully that ends. Who's next?

00:32:36
Speaker 4: Well, should we go to Bob and James Town? I mean we're there's call five thirteen going thirteen, Bob, I.

00:32:42
Speaker 5: Hope it make its good man.

00:32:45
Speaker 8: I get that many calls about Medicare insurance every day. Anyway, you know another election cycle. If we're going to decide about is it time to dump the electoral college? You know, I mean it's like popping vote. It don't matter. Okay, it all comes down to electoral college. All right, what do you say? What's your opinion?

00:33:12
Speaker 2: Maybe call five hundred and fourteen. It'll be better.

00:33:15
Speaker 5: Thank you. I'm looking forward to just talk about that earlier in the week. Clayton and Kroom was founded on a simple idea, all leather goods should last a lifetime. They make everything from bag bags, belts, wallets, and more. It's Clayton and Kroom C O A, Y, T O N and croomcrum me dot com or visit their flagship store on Shelby Street belts bags. My mom gets me a Clayton and Kroom gift almost every year and I always use them. It's Claytonancroom dot com. Quality leather goods, built to last with Clayton and Crew. See that lady right there, she's got a beer. Aren't you glad they changed that law on election day? Yes, you getna be like if otherwise six o'clock before you have one. Now you can just throw it back right now. It's exactly so. Now you get to do it on election day. I love this country. Yes, go America. We'll be right back. Okay you sorry, fuck come. That's a good another good song, Shannon, you killed it with the songs today.

00:34:21
Speaker 10: Well, thank you.

00:34:21
Speaker 5: I appreciate for those of you that can't hear him on the podcast, I'm sorry, I wish, I wish I could fix it. But Shannon does a really, really good job with him.

00:34:29
Speaker 2: He even played the Wanda Baker jingle on the pre show this Oh.

00:34:34
Speaker 10: Did you a call from twenty twelve.

00:34:36
Speaker 5: Yeah, well you play it again for me right now. It is election day. It's a tradition here, we'll see it. Thank you, sir. I do like the Wanda Baker jingles. She got awesome, She's was it, She's got a plan.

00:34:48
Speaker 10: Baker, She's a circuit court judge with a view.

00:34:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, she has a view. Eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven. This is actually an interesting comment. This will be my tweet of to day. Matt I was at the Women's Clinic and Mark Pope said that at the end of games, one of the reasons he will keep playing our guys is that seating now is based on analytics, and if you give away a lot of points at the end of the game. It can actually factor into your seating in the tournament. He was explaining early why sometimes it will be like that makes perfect sense to me. You remember sometimes we'd lose eight or ten points at the end of games in the last era. Well, now they do that. Your offense and defensive efficiency, which looks at all points, is equal. I can see why you'd be hesitant to really bring in a different group until the very end. I hadn't thought of that rhyme, but it makes sense.

00:35:39
Speaker 2: I hadn't thought of it at all. But he's such an analytics guy. It's all about analytics, so I can see now why he's gonna have that system to play it that way.

00:35:47
Speaker 6: Yeah, the net rankings take in margin to victory. I mean yeah, I think it caps at it, like the thinking of everything going into this season.

00:35:56
Speaker 5: One person writes Matt, I wish the student section would not chant about no and Perry liked their walk Ons. Yeah, I don't. I think sometimes players don't like when the when the when the student section does that. I think sometimes the walk Ons enjoy it. But I do think guys that consider themselves serious, like rotation players don't want to be chanted. I don't know. I can't speak about Nohen Perry, but I know there have been guys in the past that have felt that way.

00:36:22
Speaker 6: I said this last night. They were doing it a little too early and a little too much, you know. I think we used to do it for Brian long and Sam Malone.

00:36:29
Speaker 5: That's a little different, Timmy.

00:36:30
Speaker 6: I know everybody likes to Kentucky boys if you want to see him do it, but it does kind of almost it's almost like a sympathy.

00:36:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's almost like it's like a circus side show or something, and they they're they consider themselves. I mean, I don't know about those two guys in particular, but I know we have had players in the past that sort of didn't like being considered like that.

00:36:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, didn't Brad cal Perry even say one day Brad didn't like it.

00:36:53
Speaker 5: He didn't like it.

00:36:55
Speaker 2: They are trying to tell me to shoot and he said, I know when to shoot.

00:36:58
Speaker 5: Yeah. One person writes yeah, Brad.

00:37:01
Speaker 6: I think especially there was a lot of shoot at Brad and Brian long Brow no matter where they are on the court.

00:37:08
Speaker 5: Brad was not was not a fan. What person rights man I think part of the problem is we're used to freshmen leaving if they don't play. We have to get adjusted to an era where our freshmen may not play, but they still come back and then play a year or two later. I think that's true, it's fair. I think we've had freshmen that if they didn't play, we're gone. That may not be the case in the Pope era. He may have guys who are here for the Durasia. I think that's exactly what we're in. And He's these.

00:37:35
Speaker 2: Two guys were talking about are guys that I think could be here for four years. They want to play here, they want to be here. It's got to bide their time right now?

00:37:42
Speaker 5: All right, you got the one to Baker song, I got it. Okay. For those of you in the here in the restaurant, I'm sorry you can't hear it, but it's an election day tradition. Wanda Baker, who ran for judge in Louisville.

00:37:55
Speaker 2: Twelve years ago.

00:37:56
Speaker 5: You also got to get leading with. Oh yes, we got to do a leading with too. But go ahead, let's do wander Baker. I'm Wanda Baker, and I approved this message. No shaking. You need a different verse right there said November six, I think you needed something male.

00:38:29
Speaker 4: So the day it is important. If you vote on November seventh, that won't count.

00:38:32
Speaker 5: That won't count. All right, we need leading with the thought her keyboard.

00:38:35
Speaker 6: This was a little heavy there, taking away from her message too much music.

00:38:39
Speaker 5: Would we agree that leading with Eylan.

00:38:41
Speaker 2: It's the best? Wanda was the first we've got to start it for us on this show, but leading with Eland is the best.

00:38:46
Speaker 5: I feel like I feel like these candidates don't do enough songs and they don't all right here, we got hands.

00:38:52
Speaker 13: So remember this name if you want to cover the Julie leaders.

00:38:59
Speaker 5: The only charges.

00:39:04
Speaker 13: He's a man you can trust, means healthcare is great.

00:39:16
Speaker 5: Educat now.

00:39:24
Speaker 13: Kentucky Democrat for.

00:39:38
Speaker 5: It's such a great song, and those of you here that can't hear it and just hear my occasional acapella, it's not as good, I understand. But leading with Eveland best campaign song.

00:39:47
Speaker 4: That the better healthcare is great lyric A little weak we can have worked on.

00:39:51
Speaker 10: We can have tweaked that one a little bit, but otherwise it was good.

00:39:53
Speaker 5: But the key change a lot of not a lot campaign jingles have a key change, and for people who don't remember the guy wrote that to save.

00:40:00
Speaker 2: By the bell thief, that's right, that's right.

00:40:02
Speaker 6: So stop hanging things on my door, stop calling me, and get in the lab with your band and put.

00:40:07
Speaker 5: Out to get a song, right, yes, two eighty seven next to teach me about Kentucky the best Kentucky generated song of all time? Right, So, cats after to get last night, do you feel better same about the season? I think you predicted eight or nine losses. I think we're gonna be better than that. I do. I think we're I'm more like six or seven.

00:40:34
Speaker 2: I feel better than I did to start the season because they're better defensively than I thought you were.

00:40:39
Speaker 5: I agree with that.

00:40:40
Speaker 2: I mean, we've already talked about the lockdown defenders and the perimeter Williams in the middle. I just think this is a team that's just gonna get better and better and better as the season goes on, and by then by the time we get to March, I hope we're making a good run.

00:40:52
Speaker 6: And just to depth, I mentioned like six or seven guys played twenty minutes. We worry about with this style having a cold night. Well, when you got so many guys, it's gonna be tough for everyone to be cold at the same time. That's right, so many pieces that you can put in with some confidence.

00:41:06
Speaker 5: Well, when you watched last night, at first the starters played much better than when they went to the bench, But then in the second half, the bench actually played just as well, if not better than the starters.

00:41:18
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:41:18
Speaker 5: So, I mean, I think that's an example of what you're talking about. Depending on the night or even the half, you'll have different guys playing well. Eight points from Jackson Robinson and you still score one hundred and three. Yeah, and you had eighteen from Kobe Brea.

00:41:31
Speaker 2: You know, like we said, it was just good to see him kind of win. And how they can score points without depending on the three point shot the entire game.

00:41:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, all right. So Don Franklin Otto, if you go to Don Franklin find a vehicle of your choice at the price that you want, better service, better selection, they'll bring it to the dealership near you. Now they're up to twenty seven. When we started doing these commercials, they were at twelve. Now they're at twenty seven locations around Kentucky. Kentucky Duke, We're having our UK basketball launch party here that night for a game that might not start to ten o'clock, but we're all gonna be here. You ready for it.

00:42:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna get a good nap in that afternoon, so actually stay up past ten o'clock that night.

00:42:21
Speaker 5: Yes, that's exactly right. Everybody, enjoy your evening. No matter what happens tonight, will all be good, and then tomorrow we'll hopefully be able to move on to something else in the world.

00:42:32
Speaker 2: We're all still friends no matter what happens tonight.

00:42:34
Speaker 5: Yes, that's exactly right. Mario, you gotta go vote. Are you registered, Well, that's gonna be a problem. Yeah, that's gonna be a problem because if you're not registered, then that's I think it's too late and I want to look into getting registered. Yeah, there are ways to do it. We'll see you later.
