00:00:00 Speaker 1: I think I've made it pretty clear that I enjoy being an Oriel. If there's any interest in keeping me around, then I'm definitely open to hearing about it. 00:00:11 Speaker 2: Hey, Ryan O'Hearn from the Oriols is back on the show. Ryan, great to have you back on, man, and this is a great week to get you back on. Are you the most excited person in baseball that Raphael Devers got traded to the Giants because he is out of your damn division? Because you like winning games and you know all Star appearances would be cool. You're now the leading book atter for the DH spot. 00:00:30 Speaker 3: How you doing? 00:00:32 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:00:32 Speaker 1: I just want to shout out Craig Bresla real quick. Appreciate you man helping me get you know, in the standings. But yeah, what a wild deal. 00:00:42 Speaker 4: That was crazy. I'm good. Hey you too. Ryan. 00:00:46 Speaker 5: By the way, it's deserving, Okay, let's I mean, if you look at your numbers, you're you're having a good year, So it's deserving that hopefully you get to go to the All Star Game and you get to experience that because you're you're off to a great start. So Rafael Devers a side and the trade aside. But we do want your thoughts on it, but you are deserving of an. 00:01:03 Speaker 4: All start up. Well, I appreciate that. 00:01:06 Speaker 1: We'll see, we got a month ago, so uh, you know, got to keep playing good, but we'll see. 00:01:10 Speaker 4: Feel good about it? 00:01:11 Speaker 5: Now, Now what do you think about the demonstrat Now let's take into the other stuff we've complimented you. Now now it's time to ruin your day. 00:01:17 Speaker 4: So how what do you think? It's wild? The timing is wild, seemed, you know. 00:01:22 Speaker 1: I at this point in the year, it's still what a month and a half till the trade deadline? Uh, Raffie's special player. I don't know, man, it's a weird deal. But obviously I think whenever you you know, you get paid that kind of money and and you kind of are, you know, dancing or to the beat of your own drum, like you don't want to you don't want to do what you're asked. 00:01:45 Speaker 4: I mean maybe that you know, things like this happen, but wild. I was definitely shocked. 00:01:50 Speaker 3: You said it's a weird deal. You guys obviously struggled with a little bit of pitching early in the season. Here as a player, do you feel like an organization has to wait to the trade deadline. I feel like we're just like, oh, okay, we are robots. We're waiting till the trade deadline. Like don't you want don't you want a shot in the arm. You guys went down with injuries. Wouldn't you love it if the Orioles were like, you know what we're gonna do. We're gonna go after Sandy al Contra. I know right now he's not you know, he wasn't pitching well, but he's hot now and it's time to go because we as a team come to the ballpark every day to win. So wouldn't it be awesome if your if your front office would make a move like that. 00:02:29 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think that's a different scenario right as far as compared to the rothy situation. But yeah, I mean definitely if you you know, you believe you have the pieces to be a contender and you get you know, killed with some injuries early on, I think that'd be awesome as a player to have reinforcements like that. But usually it seems like we don't see big deals, uh, you know, regarding you. 00:02:53 Speaker 4: Don't even know who's selling and who's buying. 00:02:55 Speaker 1: Yet at this point, I would say, you know, the Orioles are rumored to be sellers, or it seems like that's the narrative. But we got we got time, man, and we're not that far out of a wild card at this point, and you know, team gets hot, I think we're gonna be in a good spot. So I just think it's a little bit too early to your point. Yes, it's always good to have Sandy Alcantara or some stud come join your team, but also it's like, how. 00:03:23 Speaker 4: Do you know who's buying it who's selling at this point. 00:03:26 Speaker 1: Obviously there are extremes, but most teams are kind of in the middle somewhere. 00:03:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, and the extra wildcard has definitely helped that cause too, Right, the more playoff spots that you have open, the more that mathematically your team has a shot. And it makes sense. Why wouldn't you want to do that. I mean, we've talked about the Diamondbacks too on the National League side, and I'm like watching them on a night the basis and I'm like, damn. 00:03:46 Speaker 4: This team's pretty good. 00:03:47 Speaker 2: Just because they lost, you know, their ace, they still might be really good and it might be eight games over five hundred by the time we get to the trade deadline. One more thing from me, Endevors, because you know you'll date, you'll first, you'll play first, you'll play in the outfield. I think everybody just wants to know, like how players perceive things inside the clubhouse. We try to take them inside here. If there is your best bat and he's quiet, he's not a problem, but he's just having problems with the front office about where they want him to be. 00:04:16 Speaker 4: What do you think is. 00:04:17 Speaker 2: The temperature from the rest of players. Are most players like, I don't care. He's not bothering me, and he's the best player on the team, so let's ride this out. 00:04:25 Speaker 4: Or do you think guys are like man. 00:04:26 Speaker 2: He is really hurting our chemistry because he's battling with the front office. 00:04:31 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I think it probably depends on the clubhouse. 00:04:34 Speaker 1: I mean, like in that clubhouse, Raffi is the best player, the highest paid player, you know, the franchise cornerstone. So I feel like, I mean, I don't know, unless you're in the clubhouse, you don't know. 00:04:47 Speaker 4: But I feel like the maybe the you. 00:04:49 Speaker 1: Know, whispers about it wouldn't really be there. But I think maybe in a clubhouse, like like a padres or like you know, a place with like a ton of veterans and a ton of guys who have done a lot of them, you know, big time things in their career. If another guy isn't willing to make a move or do something different for the team, than I think that could be more of an issue. 00:05:11 Speaker 4: But I mean a guy like. 00:05:12 Speaker 1: Devers is you know, the face of the franchise and he's you know, he's playing hits in the three hole every day, and he's driving in all the runs and he's the you know, he's supposed to be the leader. So I mean I could see both sides. I don't think guys are probably gonna say much about him, But I mean, in my opinion, if you're if you're taking on that, if you're making that much money and you you have all that responsibility, I think you got to do what's best for the. 00:05:42 Speaker 4: Organization or things like this will happen. 00:05:45 Speaker 5: Ryan, you mentioned it earlier, and I hate bringing this up with guys, but if you guys don't get back into this, your name has popped up big time for trade deadline stuff. Would the team approach you with that beforehand? Would they say, hey, Ryan, we've talked to teams, have your bags backed or is it something that you just kind of know as a player and are like, Okay, I hope this doesn't happen, but if it does, at least I think I'm going to a good place. 00:06:13 Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, I mean, I hope that they would want to communicate with me about it. I think I've made it pretty clear that I enjoy being an oriole and you know, if if there's any interest in keeping me around in the future, then I'm definitely open to hearing about it. But I think in the nature of today's game is there's so much I mean, I don't I'm not on Twitter, but it's impossible to ignore the noise. 00:06:39 Speaker 4: Like it's everywhere, it's it's and it is what it is. 00:06:43 Speaker 1: It's in some fashts, it's a it's a compliment because you're playing well and people think that you can help other teams. But at the same time, like like I said, you know, we got a long way to go. 00:06:54 Speaker 4: We got another month and a. 00:06:55 Speaker 1: Half till the deadline, and I'm dead set on finishing years and Oriel. I think, you know, we've underperformed for sure, But I think the last you know, two three weeks have been pretty solid, and you know, the confidence is building and we're getting some players back and all that. So I'm by any means, I'm not. I'm not giving up on, you know, remaining in Oriel at least through the end of the year. But I think it's you know, in today's game, it's impossible to be oblivious to it. 00:07:24 Speaker 2: You know, Krat's real question for you. So I'm in Arena Club and I opened up a slab pack. I pulled a Wyatt Langford Auto rookie card. I got an immediate offer from Arena Club. I turned it down. It was in the mid three hundredth range. I've gotten a few offers since. Thoughts on whyett should I hold on? 00:07:46 Speaker 3: I saw it. I didn't see it when you ripped the pack, but it looks so sick with everything around and how it's spinning in your showroom. That John looked nice. But no, you shouldn't sell it. 00:07:58 Speaker 4: Maybe wait till. 00:07:58 Speaker 3: He makes an all start or two and all of a sudden that three hundred goes up and you're gonna get another instant off of right away on Arena Club. 00:08:06 Speaker 2: That's right by sell trade slab packs are there for you too to rip a pack, And for me, I'm just leaving it in the showroom for now deciding what I'm going to do with it. But if I did want to sell it, then I can get myself another slab pack or buy a card that I want to buy. Get twenty percent off your first slab Packer card purchase by going to Arena club dot com slash val use code foul. So take us through it. What happened at the start of the season that led to the team being in a hole, and what's changed? Why is the team on a much better track right now? 00:08:40 Speaker 1: Yeah? I mean I could just take the easy way out and say it's baseball, because, as you guys know, like things don't go your way sometimes and then sometimes they sometimes things don't go your way and it becomes this big story and it's like, hey, we got to have a player's meeting, and hey we got to have a raw rod this and we got. 00:08:59 Speaker 4: To figure it out. 00:08:59 Speaker 1: And in this game, trying hardercessar doesn't necessarily equal wins. 00:09:04 Speaker 4: It's it's the weirdest thing. 00:09:06 Speaker 1: Trying harder is probably you know, gonna hurt you more than it's gonna help you. You gotta and then for whatever reason, out of nowhere, you know you can get this mojo and just it's twenty six guys feeling like you're gonna you're gonna win every night, no matter if it's five to nothing in the second inning, it just doesn't matter. 00:09:22 Speaker 4: We're gonna figure out a way to win this game. 00:09:25 Speaker 1: And uh, that's obviously a much more fun side to be on, but it's just baseball. 00:09:31 Speaker 4: I mean, I can't think of like one specific thing. 00:09:34 Speaker 1: I think, you know, the starters, our starters had some some guys had some tough starts and. 00:09:39 Speaker 4: At the beginning of the year, and and it may be it's snowballed a little bit. 00:09:43 Speaker 1: We had some injuries, and then you know, you feel like you kind of lose your mojo, like it just and and it becomes an everyday grind to try and get back to what we know we're capable of. You know, the manager gets fired, hider gets fired, that's you know, that's a tough thing in the clubhouse. 00:10:03 Speaker 4: A lot of guys love Brandon Hide, including. 00:10:05 Speaker 1: Myself, and so that can put a weird, you know feel around the clubhouse. But ultimately, like Mansollino has done an amazing job. He's got great relationships with guys. The last few weeks have been fun. Seems like guys are having fun at the field again. Guys want to go to the yard and and we're kind of getting that Oreoles magic back. 00:10:28 Speaker 4: If you want to put it that way. But it's it's been really fun over the last couple of weeks. Yeah. 00:10:33 Speaker 5: I don't want to pile on Brandon Hide at all. Listen, right, I don't want to pile on Brandon Hid. He was a great guy to talk to. He knows baseball. But what's the difference between Mansolino and what Brandon Hyde? You said there's more fun? 00:10:45 Speaker 4: Is that? 00:10:45 Speaker 5: Is that the biggest difference you've noticed? Because it's like Brandon Hide forgot how to manage overnight. It wasn't like, oh man, this guy took us to the playoffs last two years and now oh he just forgot what he was doing. So what's the biggest difference you've noticed? 00:10:58 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean having fun is as not related to the manager at all, Like having fun is related to winning some close games and you know, sweeping a couple of teams and you know, happy flight instead of sat in flight and you know how it goes. But I don't, you know, I don't really see a massive difference with the manager. I mean, Mansolino is, he's got great relationships with guys. 00:11:25 Speaker 4: He's checking on everybody. 00:11:26 Speaker 1: He's good at managing the room and managing the players, guys at different stages of their careers. But you know what, Hide was the same way. I don't have anything negative to say about Hyde at all. You know, love the guy. He did a lot for me. Like I said, I don't think that there's one like reason you can point to as to why we played better in the last few weeks. 00:11:46 Speaker 4: It's just baseball. It's just how it goes. 00:11:49 Speaker 1: You know, you get a few lucky breaks, maybe you get some guys back, the. 00:11:53 Speaker 4: Ball starts rolling and and you know, you start winning. 00:11:57 Speaker 1: Once you get that taste of winning, it's you know, it's like you can kind of sense it in games you've been winning, you're playing well, you're up a few runs, it's like there's blood in the water. 00:12:07 Speaker 4: And yeah, I mean, I don't I've been asked this question before us I can't really think of like. 00:12:13 Speaker 1: One thing to point to what's changed over the last few weeks and I've nothing negative to. 00:12:19 Speaker 4: Say about Brandon Hyde or at all that clear. 00:12:23 Speaker 3: Can I point to the one thing Atalie Rushman's freaking raking? What on earth is different about the month of June? Your captain, my captain, Mike Coptain, Mister Rushman is absolutely crushing it. Is there a change? Did he come off of an injury? Did he wear a golden thong? Did someone else wear a golden song for him? 00:12:47 Speaker 1: What is it? 00:12:49 Speaker 4: M Uh, I don't know. 00:12:52 Speaker 1: He's banging. He's doing great man, and Gunner's playing well too. We got Westy back. I think when those guys, specifically those three guys for me, when they're driving the bus, it's the team is cracking on all cylinders, and especially ruts Man. He just when rush is playing well, it just seems to get everybody else going. 00:13:14 Speaker 4: And he's been you. 00:13:15 Speaker 1: Know, credit to Rutch he had you know, he got a tough start, but he's been the same guy all year, goofy, fun in the clubhouse, great teammate. So really, you know, proud of him for going through a tough stretch and being the same guy. 00:13:28 Speaker 4: And now he's hitting like he's capable of. And I think, uh, you know he's just gonna keep on doing that the rest of the summer. 00:13:34 Speaker 5: All right, right before we let you go, you guys are in Tampa right now? Do you guys still stay across the bridge in Saint Pete? Are you guys in Tampa proper? 00:13:41 Speaker 4: Yeah, we're Yeah, we're at the Vanoy And okay, have you seen any ghosts? 00:13:45 Speaker 5: That's all I want to know. Have you seen any ghosts at the Vanoy? 00:13:49 Speaker 1: Hey, I finally have enough tenure that I'm on the tower side and not the historic side. 00:13:53 Speaker 3: So how are you? 00:13:56 Speaker 5: How are you supposed to see ghost if you're on the news side and not the old side. 00:14:01 Speaker 4: That's not my problem. 00:14:02 Speaker 1: Maybe you could ask, like Kobe Mayo or one of those guys if they've seen any ghosts. 00:14:07 Speaker 5: Have you guys ever pulled any pranks on any of the young kids, because we got Jace Peterson one time so bad they I didn't, but Johnny Gomes did. It was in Milwaukee at the Fister. They put stuff on his mirror and made him freaking out like hit in the room. And oh yeah, and he guys stops staying there. 00:14:22 Speaker 3: Okay, but I don't know. 00:14:23 Speaker 5: But if the Vanoya is another one where people think about this. So have you, guys, there's anybody in the orders that you've heard of ever messed with the guys and said like, oh, there's ghosts in the room. 00:14:33 Speaker 1: No, but that's hilarious, and I think I should definitely do that. Can I even get I could get an extra key from like the travel secretary and try to toss somebody? 00:14:42 Speaker 4: Yeah, your first? 00:14:46 Speaker 3: Who would be the first one? 00:14:48 Speaker 4: That's a great idea. 00:14:52 Speaker 5: He's not gonna tell you. 00:14:53 Speaker 4: He's like, no, I think he missed it. 00:14:55 Speaker 2: Go ahead, Kratz one more time. 00:14:56 Speaker 3: Oh, who would be the first one? Who would be the who'd be the most gullible to like fall for? The ghost is in your room? 00:15:02 Speaker 1: Pranked? I mean, I gotta say, Kobe Mayo, Man, this guy, I love him to death. 00:15:09 Speaker 4: I'm on his case. 00:15:10 Speaker 1: He has He just seems like he's, you know, attached to his iPad twenty four to seven. He's never watched super Bad. He I actually had made him watch super Bad. He doesn't know who like the rolling Stones are. He just he's his own little bubble and it's all about you know, TikTok and all that. 00:15:29 Speaker 4: So I don't think you would have any he was gonna get pranked anyway. That's awesome. 00:15:34 Speaker 2: He's as gen Z. 00:15:37 Speaker 5: Yeah, he needs to do it. You need to film it now since. 00:15:39 Speaker 4: You're on he's what he's full gen Z for sure. Yep, I love it. I love it. 00:15:45 Speaker 5: By the way, So now that you're on the news side, do you have one of the cool rooms that have a hot tub in the backyard, because that was always my request. I always told the travel guy, like, listen, if I'm not going to see a ghost, I need the hot tub in my own room because there's rooms there at the hot dub in the on the back porch, you have a hot tub. 00:16:00 Speaker 4: I didn't know that. That's awesome. I definitely don't have a hot time. I have a balcony with a nice view, but no hot tub. 00:16:06 Speaker 5: Okay, next time, next time time. 00:16:10 Speaker 2: If he gets the All Star nod, next trip, next trip, I feel like that's that's the next status. 00:16:17 Speaker 1: Ryan. 00:16:17 Speaker 2: Awesome, catching up with you man, Thanks for joining us again. Good luck the rest of the way, and obviously with the team and with All Star voting. But I know guys always feel weird talking about themselves. But obviously a cool storyline that we're following too. 00:16:31 Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you guys for having me. We'll see what happens. 00:16:33 Speaker 1: Got another month ago, So I got to keep playing well one day at a time. 00:16:36 Speaker 2: Yes, you keep playing well, people keep voting. 00:16:39 Speaker 4: That's how it works. 00:16:40 Speaker 2: Ryan, thanks man, appreciate it all right, Thank you guys,
