Yeah, call me the old guy who still tunes into Sports Center to watch some sports highlights other than Gary Strewski being funny with Randy And by the way, I can't believe you watch like sports that are over and over like your like it's nineteen ninety eight. It sounds very hypocritical, but bear with me here. Okay, here's what I'm saying, and I'm saying it respectfully. I get it when we're filling in for Colin Cowherd or whatever. Sometimes people want to hear sports and it's you and I talking about movies, or you know, we're doing the Cavino and Rich thing, and that's what we've always done. Keep in mind, that's what we got hired to do, to have fun and bring something different. But sometimes people just want to hear sports, and I respect that, and I understand that. If I'm tuning in to Sports Center, I want to see wimb and Yama blocking some shots. I don't want to see someone jumping off the top turnbuckle like it does not sound like, it doesn't belong in the mix of my regular sports highlights. If they want to have separate programming, put it on the Oat Show, like I get it. They do cornhole on ESPN. We work there. I understand when it's mixed in with the real sports stuff. It bothers me because I'm sitting here just to watch the highlights because that had a busy day. That's in the pop culture sports. I'm entertain the only guy that doesn't do that. Yes, and I agree with you. What does the ESPN stand for? Is it like entertainment?

I may be the only guy, but I still tune in to see the highlights, to see the playoffs, to see what's going on in sports, and when they're treating that like real, I'm like, huh, I find the wild that you even watch sports highlights. To me, that's like, yeah, I find it where that you don't. You work in sports radio, can tell you have a phone. I do, But I still like take enjoyment of that's my wind down. That's my like I'm going to bed. I put on Sports Center and I let that run a few times. It's just something I'm not used to yet. And I said to me, you think I'm the only one that does that. If I missed an NBA game over the weekend because I didn't catch them all, Danny, guess what they have on on the app so.

When I tuned in Saturday night, I like went away for fifteen minutes to a different channel. I'm like, I don't want to watch this, and they're breaking down like it's like a sporting event, like it's all to be determined.

Like I said jokingly, it just feels like it takes getting used to and that's all so there was a lot this weekend between NBA playoffs and WrestleMania's your mets. I do wonder forget that it's ESPN. I just wonder how many people could watch because who even has the cable on anything? Bro A lot of people watch what I'm saying, not the way they used to a lot of people that you, especially people that are rich sports RADI, ESPN.

But when you watch those WrestleMania highlights, I'll back up Danny g and Sam on one thing, and you there's nothing more like weird to me because back in the day we used to pretend that these guys were in gimmick. Remember like million Dollar Man would would win and break character. Yeah, and these guys would go on like our senior hall and like Macho Man was always macho man. When you see one of these dudes on like a first take or something, I could see why Steven A is like, this is embarrassing.

I like wrestling and I do like what they do at ESPN. My point is simple, I'm just not used to that yet or it feels a little out of place for me or forced, but I'll get used to it. There's there's a ten plus years ago and just with just know there's a man there and Rich is like hating every second.

That's why, you know, I didn't catch all the basketball that I wanted to catch. I caught bits and pieces and games here and there, and I'm like, all right, let me go to the highlights.

Speaker 1: Rich, I get that, But when I put on ESPN and I'm just I'm pointing out the obvious and noticeable change, and I'm like oh, we're going through wrestling highlights. But I also understand it was a big WrestleMania weekend. That's all just making an observation, that's it. I'm an obvious servation. Hey, my Mets suck. Huh guys, Yeah, let's get back to that, dude. Eleven in a row. No team has ever lost twelve in a row and made the postseason. It's not just eleven in a row. It's an eleven in a row with the most ridiculous payroll and superstars on the team. Granted, Soto's hurt, no one's rushing them, you know, but there's definitely like a problem that goes beyond baseball. They were seven and four and I was like, oh, good start. You know, seven and four. I remember thinking like, uh, you know, if you you know, you're a couple of games over, you're on pace for like ninety wins or so at seven and four, right, like, not bad, you'll lose eleven in a row. There's so many things I want to dissect here. A how to get back on track? B What do you do to get back on track? And let's go back and look at how the Mets even got here. They constructed this team when when ownership said we gotta break up the core of this team, We're gonna look back. You know, there's a lot of terrible trades in baseball history. And I'm not saying Brandon Nimo is some superstar Nimo Alonzo Diaz, like that's a big piece of the puzzle.

You get Devin Williams, and you'll give Edwin Dias a like a thought of like am I they go sign this guy before they get my deal done, and they give Edwin Diaz this little window of time to go shop around. Essentially, the Dodgers get him, then you let Pete Alonzo go as if he's some bum. Meanwhile, Peter Alonzo was a fan favorite and a guy that was good for forty one hundred every year, a single year they dragged their feet on the year before, and he proved that he should stay on the team like he had a monster season.

You trade away a respectable guy that's been an All Star a couple of times, always good for twenty something homers, good on defense, Brandon Nimo.

Juan Soto's the new guy and people are saying that he needs to take more leadership, but that's not who Jan Soto is. Like, this is really bad, guys, This is like a sickness And that's the well, I guess the downside of the beauty of sports because when a team is clicking, you could visibly see the chemistry and how beautiful baseball is when it's played the right way, or when a team is gelling like Magellan, when a team's winning and they're having fun. When the opposite starts to happen and the chemistry's gone, it's like the love of a relationship gone, like you can't get it back. It's when that chemistry dies between man and woman or whoever you love or whatever. It's like you try so hard to get it back, but you just can't. That's why happens to a team. And when you see that happen, it's like it's like a sickness and illness. It takes on a life of its own and it's almost impossible to get back.

Yeah, everything they're saying, you know, it's like it's like someone breaking up with you. It's like breaking up with a girl is saying, like, you know, it's our morals just don't match up. And then you start dating a stripper, like you're saying one thing, you doing another. The Mets said everything, and now they're doing the opposite. And the only way to write this is over the next two weeks, and I'll tell you why.

You have fifteen games against very winnable opponents. Otherwise, how is Carlos Mendoza have a job. I'll tell you how because he's a David Sterns guy. If you high someone and they suck, isn't like if they fired Mendoza, then what does that say about Stearn's decisions. Oh, as the highest paid GM right like ten million dollars a year, you got great talent, There's no question about it. But I also think a lot of a lot of it has to do with personality and mental and Lindor isn't bringing the smiles, isn't bringing the fun, isn't playing like the guy that we know? Is it Sodo cramping his vibe? I don't know. You got guys like Devin Williams who crack under pressure drowning a glass of water, as my mom says, and he pouts like a baby. I witnessed it firsthand. The Yankees changed her whole beard policy for this guy, and he had the weakest attitude the entire season. And I saw it yesterday when he let Confardo tie up the game, which eventually led up to a loss against the Cups.

So I think it's like like a Poudy personality problem.

But the smaller pay rolls like the Rays, the Guardians, the A's, the Reds, they're going well for the beginning of the season. Yeah, and so this proves you cannot buy chemistry.

When you lose that chemistry, it takes on a life of its own and it's hard to get back no matter how hard you try. So imagine trying to do that with a team of adults. I don't know, but they say divided clubhouse every time I hear the Mets, but aldo cat's really going on there, and if they're divided, there's no way they could win and have fun and be professionals. Like you need to play as a team, and that's why those other teams are winning and your Mets are losing.

But then again, our buddy Steve Gelbs at SNY in New York said that when you remember Mickey Callaway was the manager of the Mets for a couple of years. Yeah, they started eleven and one one year, and these teams were all under five hundred. Then if you remember a couple years ago, there were more than ten games under five hundred end up going to playoffs. So I get teams get hot and cold, and it's one hundred and sixty.

Maybe that's not the right approach, Like you need people to really have each other's back, You need team, You need people to enjoy each other's company that play to win together, not just you know, on the field, but off the field.

But you could you could say that, hey, it's such a small sample size, but I don't want to hear that crap the Mets as of right now. Let me read you the bet a averages of these star players, because you could argue, Danny, well, your naming guys that are not gonna hit two oh five for the year, or are they. Bobaschett, who apparently is a three thirty career life hitter with runners in scoring position, is betting one to eighty with runners in scoring position, So we're talking about like guys that are uncharacteristically sucking.
