<v Speaker 1>Hey everybody, Welcome to Game Mess Mornings, brought to you <v Speaker 1>by ms I with me Jeff Grubb, your host from <v Speaker 1>giant bomb dot com. <v Speaker 2>Thank you for tuning in. <v Speaker 1>In this episode, we're going to be talking about why <v Speaker 1>the number seven might be extremely important to the next <v Speaker 1>Nintendo Direct and how Silk Song's difficulty is leading to crashouts. <v Speaker 1>It's going to be a good one because we have <v Speaker 1>Rachel Kaser on the show. Rachel, how are you doing? <v Speaker 3>I'm good? Thank you ms I for having. <v Speaker 1>Me here exactly. Yes, they gave you the approval you're <v Speaker 1>allowed on the show. How have you been? How are <v Speaker 1>things going? Have you been playing Silk Song? What have <v Speaker 1>you been into? How are you I've. <v Speaker 3>Been playing some Silk Song. I haven't been making a <v Speaker 3>whole lot of progress. But I didn't actually play this <v Speaker 3>weekend because I went to I went to an event <v Speaker 3>here in Dallas, not a big event, but it was <v Speaker 3>a pop up for an anime, you know, for a <v Speaker 3>little fan event for an anime I've been watching a <v Speaker 3>lot lately. So my best friend and I Oh Fun <v Speaker 3>dressed up. We went to a Korean fried chicken place <v Speaker 3>and we bought some stickers and some fan art. It <v Speaker 3>was fun. <v Speaker 2>That sounds a good time. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, we went out this week into I didn't have <v Speaker 1>a lot of time for silk song. I played really <v Speaker 1>late last night in this. <v Speaker 2>Morning was kind of it. <v Speaker 1>But yeah, we went to the West Side Market in Cleveland, <v Speaker 1>got some cool stuff. I took the family there. It <v Speaker 1>was actually I went to the Johisaishi concert with Mike <v Speaker 1>and his brothers on Friday, and that was a really <v Speaker 1>good time. I think me and Mike were in a <v Speaker 1>competition for who who teered up the most. I don't <v Speaker 1>know the judges. Judges are still out on that. It <v Speaker 1>was amazing because he's like playing some of his original <v Speaker 1>orchestrations and it was beautiful. <v Speaker 2>And then it's like, I don't you know, if this <v Speaker 2>was it, that would be fine. <v Speaker 1>And of course then he does the encourse and he <v Speaker 1>plays all the all the hits and it really just <v Speaker 1>it hit real hard. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, that was a really magical, cool thing to see. <v Speaker 1>And yeah, I had a good time keeping busy this <v Speaker 1>week and I actually spent some time like doing stuff <v Speaker 1>instead of just working around the house, which has been <v Speaker 1>my life for like the last month. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and as much as I as much as I'm <v Speaker 3>enjoying Silk song. And I played a little bit on <v Speaker 3>Thursday night because I got it on Game Pass, and <v Speaker 3>a little bit on Friday, but then I didn't really <v Speaker 3>play it much over the weekend. For the record, it <v Speaker 3>was an event for Apothecary Diaries. I don't know if <v Speaker 3>you're familiar at all, nuts. <v Speaker 2>I've been a big I think I've heard people mention it. <v Speaker 3>I feel like I want to just shout out, like, <v Speaker 3>this is the fan art that I got. That's fun <v Speaker 3>because I won, because I solved the I solved the <v Speaker 3>mysteries that they had at the event. <v Speaker 2>That's that's really cool. Are these like official pop ups? <v Speaker 2>Is that how it worked? <v Speaker 3>It's a fan event. It was organized by a fan <v Speaker 3>group in North Texas, so it wasn't wasn't official, but <v Speaker 3>we had a lot of local artists in UH promoting <v Speaker 3>their their selling their fan art in their UH fan <v Speaker 3>merch So that was fun. It was, it was, It was. <v Speaker 3>It was nice being around a lot of other a <v Speaker 3>lot of other weaves for a day. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, yeah, that was it was nice. <v Speaker 1>Going to the U he says GG concert and it <v Speaker 1>was like, oh yeah, looking around, it's like, oh yeah, <v Speaker 1>all these people would get it if we just started talking. <v Speaker 2>And that was that was nice. I got to see uh. <v Speaker 1>Ran to Mike said all he wanted that night was <v Speaker 1>just one person to recognize him because he's never I <v Speaker 1>don't think he's ever been recognized in Cleveland, and he. <v Speaker 2>Got his wish. <v Speaker 1>It's so one, yeah, exactly, and that miss exactly. That <v Speaker 1>pictures up on Reddit now, so if everyone wants to <v Speaker 1>check that out. That was really nice to see that <v Speaker 1>fan and as well as his partner. You can also catch the <v Speaker 1>show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube. <v Speaker 2>Hello YouTube. <v Speaker 1>All right, we have a lot to get into, so <v Speaker 1>let's start the Morning Mess with a rumor that Soul <v Speaker 1>Caliber seven is being teased for the next Nintendo Direct. <v Speaker 1>This is from Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. Not only <v Speaker 1>as the rumor milk churning out reports of an upcoming <v Speaker 1>Nintendo Direct, but we should also expect the grand return <v Speaker 1>of a fighting franchise whenever Nintendo does decide to put <v Speaker 1>on a new presentation. According to recent speculation, Soul Caliber <v Speaker 1>seven could be revealed at the show. This comes from <v Speaker 1>insider Switch Force, who has been dabbling in these rumors <v Speaker 1>lately and doing doing a pretty good job. Shouts out <v Speaker 1>the Switch Force, who claimed that the next Nintendo Direct <v Speaker 1>would be all about the number seven, featuring three games <v Speaker 1>with that number fans guest called Duty Black, Ops seven, <v Speaker 1>Final Fantasy seven remake, and Dragon Quest seven. However, Switch <v Speaker 1>Force said that not a soul had guessed the correct combo. <v Speaker 1>The use of soul and combo leads some people to <v Speaker 1>believe that this is a direct tease for Soul Caliber seven. <v Speaker 1>We recently saw Soul Caliber two come to Nintendo Switch Online. <v Speaker 2>It has been. <v Speaker 1>Seven years since we got a Soul Caliber game two, <v Speaker 1>meaning the number seven could have yet even more importance now, Rachel, <v Speaker 1>this was like, this directs apparently happening this week, lots <v Speaker 1>of reasons to start speculating, especially once they announced it <v Speaker 1>and kind of give us an idea of like what <v Speaker 1>kind of direct it's going to be. Like, we're assuming <v Speaker 1>it's a big boy general direct. With all of the <v Speaker 1>news that we've been waiting for Metro Prime Force release <v Speaker 1>date that you know, other games that we don't even <v Speaker 1>know about coming from Nintendo maybe early next year will <v Speaker 1>be in this direct. We don't know that we're still <v Speaker 1>very much to the point where we're speculating what kind <v Speaker 1>of direct this could even be. Once they do, we <v Speaker 1>can kind of start dialing in expectations. <v Speaker 2>For now. <v Speaker 1>This is fun to go on this idea of there <v Speaker 1>will be three games that somehow relate to the number seven. <v Speaker 2>Uh. <v Speaker 1>He did say that it's not a Professor Layton seven. <v Speaker 1>I guess that would be the seventh Professor Layton, and <v Speaker 1>it's not Call of Dutible. I guess so you do, don't. <v Speaker 1>I don't keep track of that stuff. I would have <v Speaker 1>no idea until someone said that, But I guess that's <v Speaker 1>the general consensus is that we're on the seventh Professor Layton, <v Speaker 1>regardless Switch Forced is saying that's not one of the sevenths, <v Speaker 1>and then Black Ops seven Call of Duty Black Ops <v Speaker 1>seven also not one of these seven games. <v Speaker 2>Apparently. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't. I don't see Call of Duty Black <v Speaker 3>Ops seven having a big presence at a Nintendo Direct <v Speaker 3>like maybe a mention, but not. <v Speaker 1>I mean when when the next like real Call of <v Speaker 1>Duty hits a switch both companies will make a big <v Speaker 1>deal out of it, Activision and Nintendo. <v Speaker 2>I don't. <v Speaker 1>I think the rumor is that's still not happening yet, <v Speaker 1>but we'll see whatever either way. <v Speaker 2>Apparently that's not one of the sevenths. <v Speaker 1>So when you hear that, other than Soul Caliber seven, <v Speaker 1>we could talk about that here in a second. <v Speaker 2>What else do you think would be in that trio? <v Speaker 3>My first thought would be something from like the next <v Speaker 3>Final Fantasy seven installment, that's my first thought. That's the <v Speaker 3>first seven that comes to mind there. <v Speaker 1>Well, on Fantasy seven Integrate's not even on Switch yet <v Speaker 1>and it's confirmed becoming to switch to it's gonna get <v Speaker 1>a release date. <v Speaker 2>That's got to be one of them, right. <v Speaker 3>That's got to be one of them. I don't know. <v Speaker 3>I mean the way the way they're they're they're talking like, oh, <v Speaker 3>seven is gonna be a big important number. It makes <v Speaker 3>me think like it's gonna be like a big showcase reveal. <v Speaker 3>And if they wanted to just say that, they would <v Speaker 3>just say that. But then again, if it's not a <v Speaker 3>Big Boy direct, which it might not be, we don't <v Speaker 3>know for sure. If it's a Big Boy direct. If <v Speaker 3>it's not a Big Boy direct, then yeah, Final Fantasy <v Speaker 3>seven Integrate coming to uh, coming to Switch too would <v Speaker 3>be That would be a reasonably big announcement. So I <v Speaker 3>don't know, my I'm having trouble calibrating my expectations here. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, so again I've written down some sevens and real quick. <v Speaker 1>Apparently Switch Force is also saying it's not Soule Caliber seven, <v Speaker 1>which I was gonna get to as well. Like as <v Speaker 1>much as I would like to see that, I don't. <v Speaker 1>I just don't know, And I think it's fair to <v Speaker 1>be like Soul Caliber two is just on n s O, <v Speaker 1>maybe there's a relationship there, so we're going to get <v Speaker 1>Soul Caliber seven. I just to me, that didn't feel <v Speaker 1>like the right place to debut Soul Caliber seven and <v Speaker 1>Nintendo directly. But maybe I'm wrong either way. I did <v Speaker 1>write down some games it could be, uh, let's see here, <v Speaker 1>Resident Evil seven like that that one, like cause we <v Speaker 1>we think that they're going to be bringing Village to <v Speaker 1>switch to. Honestly, I can't keep track of all the <v Speaker 1>stuff we talked about with Resident Evil, but that's where <v Speaker 1>my my gut goes exactly, and like in terms of <v Speaker 1>it's it come into, like I think Resident Evil nine <v Speaker 1>might come to switch to as one of the rumors <v Speaker 1>we read on this show recently, maybe they're like, as <v Speaker 1>part of that, let's get seven and Village out on <v Speaker 1>there and we'll start with seven and that'll happen here. <v Speaker 3>Uh. <v Speaker 2>I think that's possible, But I don't know if that <v Speaker 2>just feels right for this. But what do you think? <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean I guess it could. Again, that doesn't <v Speaker 3>really seem like it would be, you know, worthy of <v Speaker 3>like a big showcase thing at and unless it were <v Speaker 3>one of those like apparently Capcom's getting very cheeky with <v Speaker 3>us lately, So unless they're like, but Resident Evil seven <v Speaker 3>coming to switch to? Oh, that's it. Oh, Resident Evil <v Speaker 3>nine coming to switch to as well? You didn't expect that, <v Speaker 3>did you? And just Capcom being as Capcom's being lately, <v Speaker 3>I don't know what's wrong with them. They're being very weird, <v Speaker 3>they're being very They're they're in their cheeky era right now. <v Speaker 3>So I wouldn't be surprised if that leads into maybe <v Speaker 3>a bigger Resident Evil on switch announcement. <v Speaker 2>Yes, I'm with you. <v Speaker 1>We talked about Final Fantasy, a Dragon Quest seven remake. <v Speaker 1>This is something a lot of people are guessing now <v Speaker 1>that would be fun. Yes, I'm like trying to remember <v Speaker 1>this one as well, I believe that Jason Schreier had <v Speaker 1>mentioned this game somewhere before, as this is happening, and <v Speaker 1>if it's happening and Square Enix wants to talk about it, <v Speaker 1>the right place to talk about this game is definitely <v Speaker 1>an into No Direct. That is like where that gets. <v Speaker 1>It's where it's biscuit would be buttered best, right, Like, <v Speaker 1>it's like you coming on this thing, and this audience <v Speaker 1>is gonna it is gonna be very excited about that, <v Speaker 1>whereas yeah, there would be some excitement on PlayStation, but <v Speaker 1>that stuff will filter over from the direct in a <v Speaker 1>real big way. And if it's like the mark one <v Speaker 1>of the markete announcements at a direct, that can really <v Speaker 1>help it pop off. So I'm I'm expecting that one <v Speaker 1>you agree with that you were saying, yeah, I. <v Speaker 3>Think that would be that would be an awesome And <v Speaker 3>considering Square Knicks, I think is trying to be a <v Speaker 3>bit more strategic about where it puts out, you know, <v Speaker 3>its announcements for its time. I mean, it's more strategic <v Speaker 3>in general about what it does with its announcements. If <v Speaker 3>Dragon Quest seven remake is already in the works, then yeah, <v Speaker 3>Nintendo Direct best place to announce it. It'll find its <v Speaker 3>people there, It'll find even the new audience, it'll find <v Speaker 3>the most new people there, especially since especially if it's <v Speaker 3>coming to switch to, then it would definitely be that <v Speaker 3>that would be it would almost have like a free <v Speaker 3>RN on switch to as a sort of like, hey, <v Speaker 3>here's this great new dragon Quest game to play when <v Speaker 3>you know we don't have anything. We don't have a <v Speaker 3>new dragon Quest game on switch to right now? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, then maybe a port of Yakuza seven, like a <v Speaker 1>dragon RGG has been putting a lot of stuff out <v Speaker 1>on switch and switch to. Uh switch if it is <v Speaker 1>it's cloud version, right, is it like the full version. <v Speaker 3>That was one of the things I thought was already on. <v Speaker 1>I know, like a lot of them are like Yaku's <v Speaker 1>zero launch with the switch to one, and Kalambi one <v Speaker 1>and two are on there or are launching soon. I <v Speaker 1>think that there is a chance that they're like, Okay, now, <v Speaker 1>let's do some of these more recent games on switch <v Speaker 1>to maybe exclusively. I don't think Infinite Wealth is on <v Speaker 1>switch in any way, so it's like, maybe do seven, <v Speaker 1>then do Infinite Wealth. <v Speaker 2>I don't know what will you find anything? <v Speaker 4>Uh? <v Speaker 3>The only thing that comes the first thing that comes <v Speaker 3>up as a post saying that the producer says poured <v Speaker 3>in the games to Switch would negatively impact the series brand. <v Speaker 3>Oh that's a little harsh. I bet they have put <v Speaker 3>it on, but you didn't it on Switch. <v Speaker 1>Real gamers know about Amazon Luna. That's where the real <v Speaker 1>the big dogs play. I think as it's a It's <v Speaker 1>motto over. <v Speaker 2>There, it is not. <v Speaker 3>It is not on Switch. I have just I've discovered this. <v Speaker 3>I was mistaken. <v Speaker 1>I wonder what percentage of this audience has used Luna. Honestly, <v Speaker 1>I wonder what percentage of this audience has heard of <v Speaker 1>Amazon Luna. Anyone out there know what Luna is? I <v Speaker 1>barely do. Last thing I wrote down here killer seven. <v Speaker 1>Maybe maybe they maybe Killer seven launch that could be <v Speaker 1>on the GameCube, nso like Mature app or something launch <v Speaker 1>that in Eternal Darkness side by side Eternal Darkness. <v Speaker 3>Oh, I would I would kill for some fire emblem <v Speaker 3>on there. But I bring this up pretty much every <v Speaker 3>time I'm on game as mornings. It's like, I would <v Speaker 3>like more fire emblem. Please give fire emblems. So yeah, <v Speaker 3>if they gave which one was a path of Radiance? <v Speaker 3>Was that fire emblem seven. <v Speaker 1>No, that was yeah, maybe, but they they're still apparently <v Speaker 1>they have that finished. Not Thracia it is. I can't <v Speaker 1>remember that, the one with the number in the title <v Speaker 1>seven seven. <v Speaker 3>Six oh seven seven six Oh. We just thought of something. <v Speaker 3>I thought something. <v Speaker 1>I was wondering if there was a seven in there. <v Speaker 1>I was like, I couldn't remember. Okay, so there's the <v Speaker 1>fifth game, but right, but there's games. <v Speaker 3>But with the name being what it is. Oh, oh, <v Speaker 3>we're cooking here, Jeff, we're cooking Okay, that that was? <v Speaker 1>That one feels really plausible, just because it's been apparently <v Speaker 1>finished for literally years now, so maybe they're launching it now. <v Speaker 3>Killer seven would be it would be a fun addition <v Speaker 3>to switch to. I don't I've never even played Killer seven. <v Speaker 3>It's because I don't think I've ever had access to <v Speaker 3>it before, so it'd be great to bring that out <v Speaker 3>for a new audience. <v Speaker 2>I agree. I would like to see that. <v Speaker 1>And they've they've like remastered that before, at least I <v Speaker 1>know it's been reported to PC and it's got a <v Speaker 1>remaster on there. I don't know what the quality or <v Speaker 1>the you know, the reception to that version was, but <v Speaker 1>if it's good. Maybe they just pourt that now back <v Speaker 1>over to the switch to and take it from there. <v Speaker 1>We'll see if anyone else has any ideas for a <v Speaker 1>seven game, a Journey seven. <v Speaker 3>But they also were saying it's not Ace Attorney seven, <v Speaker 3>so I don't chat. <v Speaker 1>Was also saying Super Mario Brothers seven. They'll just say <v Speaker 1>anything in there, they'll do anything online. <v Speaker 3>Just throw every seven at me and you know, start <v Speaker 3>to make me really excited and then dash my hopes. <v Speaker 2>All right, let's keep going here. <v Speaker 1>Players are turning to Hollow Night Silk Song mods against <v Speaker 1>annoying fights. This is from Jake Valentine at Duel Shockers. <v Speaker 1>Hollow Knight Silk Song has been, for the most part, <v Speaker 1>well worth the wait. Reviewers are slowly but surely starting <v Speaker 1>to put pour in or reviews. I should say, with <v Speaker 1>every early review showing the game, showering the game and praise, <v Speaker 1>We've been hard at work on our complete walkthrough for <v Speaker 1>the game to help you along your journey through everything <v Speaker 1>Silk Song has to offer. Others have been hard at <v Speaker 1>work as well, though, working on something completely different mods <v Speaker 1>to make the game's opening portion easier. A few days <v Speaker 1>ago on the Hollow Night subreddit, someone was asking if <v Speaker 1>there's a mod that can make Silk Song easier. As <v Speaker 1>it turns out, there is. One of the game's most <v Speaker 1>popular mods removes double damage from enemies and normal bosses. <v Speaker 1>As you could expect, the discourse around this has been well, <v Speaker 1>you know. Browsing further down Silk Song's next to mod page, <v Speaker 1>you could see several mods already available that are designed <v Speaker 1>to make the experience easier and more accessible. In addition <v Speaker 1>to no double damage mod, we have one that lets <v Speaker 1>you respawn at a scene's interest, rather than having to <v Speaker 1>backtrack from a bench that's too far away. <v Speaker 2>It also lets you customize respawn points in scenes. <v Speaker 1>There are several additional mods, mostly designed around quality of <v Speaker 1>life updates, that make things far easier than what they <v Speaker 1>actually are. You know, I think that this just speaks <v Speaker 1>to people being like, I want to play games the <v Speaker 1>way I want to play them, and that sounds fantastic. <v Speaker 1>The conversations popping up, we're like, oh, is Silk Song <v Speaker 1>too hard? And so should these people just go play <v Speaker 1>something else? Because are they messing with the intended vision? <v Speaker 1>And I'm just not going to have any patience for that, <v Speaker 1>because who gives a shit like it's your you paid <v Speaker 1>money for a game you can and it's software, do <v Speaker 1>what you want with it. That everyone knows my opinion <v Speaker 1>on that. <v Speaker 2>What how do you feel? How do you feel about this? <v Speaker 3>Like, I'll be honest, I was. I was surprised everyone <v Speaker 3>else was having as much. I thought it was just me. <v Speaker 3>I thought I was everyone else to like everyone else <v Speaker 3>was breezing through Silk Song and I was the only one, <v Speaker 3>because I mean, I struggle with platforming. Metro vanias at <v Speaker 3>the best of times. Did finish Ori in the Blind Forest, <v Speaker 3>though it was very pleased about that, but I mean <v Speaker 3>Hollow Night. I never finished Hollow Night because it was <v Speaker 3>it was too much for me. So I I thought <v Speaker 3>I was just me being like slow to pick up <v Speaker 3>on things as usual, my aging reflexes. But apparently everyone's <v Speaker 3>having trouble with it. <v Speaker 2>Yep, I uh it is. <v Speaker 3>I'm smiling. I'm smiling because I'm sad. I'm sad about <v Speaker 3>that every difficult. <v Speaker 1>You can see that the tracks of my tears here. <v Speaker 3>Yes, I mean, I'm just despondent here jack. <v Speaker 1>Uh Hollow Night's Silk Song's platforms as players crashing out <v Speaker 1>as well. This is another story here This is kend <v Speaker 1>of Shepherd at Kotaku, but that's generally the take here <v Speaker 1>is that even the platforming is causing maybe some people <v Speaker 1>even more trouble than the boss fights, and this seems <v Speaker 1>to be primarily coming from that ability to do like <v Speaker 1>the you know what is it, the the dropkick, the <v Speaker 1>downward kick, the diagonal pogo, because there's some platforming elements <v Speaker 1>early and earlier in the game where there's these little <v Speaker 1>floating orbs and you can do the diagonal down pogo <v Speaker 1>onto them and then jump up to another one and <v Speaker 1>kind of keep going in There'll be sections where there's <v Speaker 1>five or six of these in a row, and you <v Speaker 1>kind of have to do these rather specific jumping abilities <v Speaker 1>where you have to make sure you're positioned exactly right <v Speaker 1>or else you'll miss it, and often there are spikes <v Speaker 1>beneath you to punish you. <v Speaker 2>I love this. <v Speaker 1>This is like, oh, challenging platforming stuff that is skill based. <v Speaker 1>I'll gobble that stuff up. I was surprised to find <v Speaker 1>it in this game so early. I'm like, this is <v Speaker 1>this supposed to be am I just doing this. I'm <v Speaker 1>not supposed to be doing this is too much for <v Speaker 1>like someone who's coming in here because they heard about <v Speaker 1>this game being pretty decent, like you expect them. You <v Speaker 1>dial this in in the first hour of the game. <v Speaker 1>I was shocked. <v Speaker 3>I'm wondering if it's because Hollow Night Silk Song was <v Speaker 3>originally meant to be a Hollow Night DLC, so you'd <v Speaker 3>come into still probably something to that. You'd come into <v Speaker 3>Silk Song like fresh after finishing Hollow Night, you're you know, <v Speaker 3>full of pisson, vinegar, pardon my language, and you just <v Speaker 3>know all the your muscle memory is still intact, and <v Speaker 3>you know you can handle all that very easily, whereas <v Speaker 3>it's been how long since Hollow Night originally came out <v Speaker 3>and none of us remember how to play anymore? <v Speaker 2>Yep, exactly. I Oh, I think there's probably something to that. <v Speaker 1>There's also apparently I'm like, I'm not going to spoil anything. <v Speaker 1>I haven't seen this thing that's floating around, but there's <v Speaker 1>ways to deal with this apparently that you might miss. <v Speaker 1>So if that's I'm that's all I'm going to say <v Speaker 1>on it. If people want to go investigate further, feel <v Speaker 1>free to do that. But this is a gameplay mechanic, <v Speaker 1>and in a game like this, I do consider that <v Speaker 1>to be pretty spoilery because you want to say, oh, <v Speaker 1>I didn't even know this character was going to be <v Speaker 1>able to do that, so yeah, but how do you <v Speaker 1>how do you deal with something like this as a <v Speaker 1>as a developer when you do have an idea of <v Speaker 1>what you want your game's difficulty to be, and you <v Speaker 1>don't like because this game doesn't have difficulty options and <v Speaker 1>it just has the one way to play it. <v Speaker 2>And for me, I'm always like, ah, the way Celeste does. <v Speaker 1>It is perfect. You don't need difficulty options. You need <v Speaker 1>accessibility options and a one bounce off of spikes, and <v Speaker 1>the difficult or and the accessibility options just turn that on. <v Speaker 1>Let people bounce off the spikes so they could try <v Speaker 1>again feel a little bit less punished. <v Speaker 2>I think I think that should be there. <v Speaker 1>The one thing that really gets me about this conversation, <v Speaker 1>Rachel is when people are like, well, you can't, like, <v Speaker 1>you can't ask the developer to change their difficulty setting <v Speaker 1>if that's their creative vision. I'm like, what the fuck <v Speaker 1>are you talking about? We tell we complain about everything <v Speaker 1>else about games constantly. This is the one thing we <v Speaker 1>can't complain about. What are you talking about? Of course <v Speaker 1>we can that's called criticism. We're going to criticize that <v Speaker 1>this is your right creative vision. I disagree. I think <v Speaker 1>there's a better way of doing it. We're all allowed <v Speaker 1>to say that. <v Speaker 3>Criticism. Yeah, it's tr crazy, Yeah, And I mean all <v Speaker 3>you have to do is like turn the the prism <v Speaker 3>a little bit and all of a sudden it's like, oh, <v Speaker 3>hardness is there? Are you know, the difficulty is their <v Speaker 3>artistic vision. It becomes it's poorly designed platforming. Yeah, take yes, yeah, <v Speaker 3>it's it's you know, same same thing, different angle. And <v Speaker 3>wonder how much you know of this criticism is because <v Speaker 3>a lot of people were you know, either they didn't <v Speaker 3>finish Hollow Night like me, or you know they you know, <v Speaker 3>never got into it in the first place. But then <v Speaker 3>they saw all the hype for Silk Song. You know <v Speaker 3>this like this is the greatest indie game that we're <v Speaker 3>never going to get. You know, they keep delaying it, <v Speaker 3>it's never going to come out, And it finally come out, <v Speaker 3>everybody is blowing the roof off the joint and everyone says, well, <v Speaker 3>this must be the greatest game to ever in the <v Speaker 3>history of games. I'll try it out, and it's it's <v Speaker 3>a holiday dls. You know that they have not that <v Speaker 3>they don't have the muscle memory for they have it, <v Speaker 3>or they've lost the muscle memory for, and all of <v Speaker 3>a sudden, it's just you know, they and and they're <v Speaker 3>and they're like, well, what is this? This is fun? <v Speaker 3>And you know, like, hey, Team Cherry, this isn't fun. <v Speaker 3>And you know, other people are like, don't you dare <v Speaker 3>talk to Team Cherry that way, and I'm like, they <v Speaker 3>can't delay Silk Song more. <v Speaker 2>It's okay, you're already playing it. <v Speaker 3>Yell at them a little bit. <v Speaker 2>Now, just go play it. Yeah, exactly, it's there. <v Speaker 1>If this is the game you want and exactly the <v Speaker 1>way you want it, which in a lot of ways <v Speaker 1>for me, it is like I would not mess with anything. <v Speaker 1>I would this is the game the way I would <v Speaker 1>play it. But I am, as I'm doing it, consistently <v Speaker 1>surprised that this is the way that this is the <v Speaker 1>game that people have been waiting forever for and if <v Speaker 1>or that they heard about, like you're saying that person <v Speaker 1>specifically getting caught up in the hype dropping the twenty <v Speaker 1>bucks trying this out and being like this is not <v Speaker 1>a kind of game I've really played much before, but <v Speaker 1>the most wish listed game on Steam, I should check <v Speaker 1>it out. And then running into those platforming sections, I would, yeah, listen, <v Speaker 1>if this is the game you want to make, go <v Speaker 1>for it. But I think there's gonna be people who <v Speaker 1>are like, I'm gonna maybe do fun, go out there <v Speaker 1>and actually find those mods and see if I can <v Speaker 1>adjust this game for my own play style. <v Speaker 3>And I think as well, if you, if you, if they, <v Speaker 3>if you just say, hey, listen, I can't play this <v Speaker 3>game because you know it's it's an accessible for me. <v Speaker 3>I think we should have a lot more sympathy for <v Speaker 3>that than just you know, too hard. You know, it's <v Speaker 3>like people conflate the two things when they're not the <v Speaker 3>same thing, you know, and and and even when too <v Speaker 3>hard is still a valid criticism as far as I'm concerned, yep. <v Speaker 1>And And it's you know, if they the studios like <v Speaker 1>here's all this criticism and decides not to do anything, <v Speaker 1>that is their choice and they will be just fine. <v Speaker 2>The game will sell just fine. <v Speaker 3>It already selling just fine. <v Speaker 1>It's selling more than just fine exactly. So it's like <v Speaker 1>and and who's going to get hurt when people criticize <v Speaker 1>it it's like, no, it's this is this is all <v Speaker 1>the way it's supposed to work. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's again, it's the whole I hate to bring <v Speaker 3>up a source subject is like crop thing again where <v Speaker 3>everyone's like, you know, if you criticize them, they're going <v Speaker 3>to make it easier and it's going to be your fault. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>And whereas that that's that's just not how game development. <v Speaker 2>Works, my friend yep, exactly. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, And it's like, yeah, of course the people like <v Speaker 1>you don't have to play a game, but it's not <v Speaker 1>if you're not being fine with it. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>I think we ever grown an adult knows this right, <v Speaker 1>Like we know this, and then sometimes we also want <v Speaker 1>to play stuff, say hey how we feel about it, <v Speaker 1>and just kind of throw our hat into the ring <v Speaker 1>of criticism. And I think that's fair as well. I <v Speaker 1>just don't want it to be the conversation going back <v Speaker 1>to the creative vision of the developer can is unassailable <v Speaker 1>because we just know that's not true because it's literally <v Speaker 1>all we do, at least all I do on this <v Speaker 1>show is criticized developers and publishers. It's my entire job. <v Speaker 1>Why would we stop at this one little narrow vision <v Speaker 1>of a game. It's silly to me, all right, So <v Speaker 1>we're going to take a break. When we come back, <v Speaker 1>plenty more headlines to get into, including Final Fantasy seven <v Speaker 1>Remake Part three? <v Speaker 2>What's going on there? All right, let's do this. <v Speaker 1>Final Fantasy seven Remake three Part of Remake Part three <v Speaker 1>whatever they're gonna end up calling it and Kingdom Hearts <v Speaker 1>For are both quote making great progress according to Tetsia <v Speaker 1>and Namura. This is from Hayes Mattson at CGM. Development <v Speaker 1>of both Final Fantasy seven Remake Part three and Kingdom <v Speaker 1>Hearts For is apparently making steady progress, according to Tetsi <v Speaker 1>and Nomura, who serves as creative director on both projects. <v Speaker 1>Numa's comments come the second Anniversary news stream or during <v Speaker 1>the second anniverarsery news stream for the mobile game Final <v Speaker 1>Fantasy seven Ever Crisis, and that this is translated by <v Speaker 1>someone on Twitter. Toriyama supposedly said, we will have news <v Speaker 1>around the second anniversary of Final Fantasy seven Ever Crisis. <v Speaker 1>We are making great progress on the game, and apparently <v Speaker 1>that's that's the news here, but he gave a little <v Speaker 1>bit more. But we are indeed making a lot of <v Speaker 1>progress with the game. We already have decided when we <v Speaker 1>will make the announcement as well, and we will stick <v Speaker 1>to that time schedule, so don't worry, but please wait <v Speaker 1>for it. Number says on that same note, I've seen <v Speaker 1>a lot of comments on Kingdom Hearts four. We are <v Speaker 1>making great strides and going according to schedule. At the moment, <v Speaker 1>we don't have any idea of a release window or <v Speaker 1>even a release year for either game, but members of <v Speaker 1>the Final Fantasy seven team have previously been vocal about <v Speaker 1>how keeping the same development team helped tremendously when. <v Speaker 2>Working on Rebirth. <v Speaker 1>That's why Rebirth was able to happen so much quicker <v Speaker 1>than the original remake game, and they're trying to keep <v Speaker 1>that kind of that same pace for this next one. <v Speaker 2>How are you feeling about these two games. <v Speaker 1>When are you expecting to hear about Final Fantasy seven <v Speaker 1>Remake Part three and Kingdom Hearts four. <v Speaker 3>I mean, I was kind of expecting to hear about <v Speaker 3>remake Part three whatever, reunion whatever. <v Speaker 2>Whatever they call it. <v Speaker 1>You. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I was kind of expecting to hear about Part <v Speaker 3>three already, if only like maybe a new like trailer <v Speaker 3>or a new uh deb you know, maybe a new <v Speaker 3>Dead video or something like that. But I guess we <v Speaker 3>didn't this, This would not fit the timeline based on <v Speaker 3>previous uh parts of this trilogy. So yeah, I guess <v Speaker 3>it doesn't surprise me that, like, yep, everything's going great, <v Speaker 3>everything's going according to schedule. So I'm I mean, I'll <v Speaker 3>be honest, this doesn't bother me. This doesn't surprise me <v Speaker 3>that much, especially considering what's been going on at Square Enix. <v Speaker 3>I guess it doesn't surprise me that maybe they're not <v Speaker 3>ready with a whole They're not ready to roll out <v Speaker 3>the red carpet for either game yet. I honestly was <v Speaker 3>not expecting to hear about Kingdom Hearts four for quite <v Speaker 3>some time, because I honestly think they announced that game <v Speaker 3>a little too early to try to start building up <v Speaker 3>the hype cycle with you know, cinematic trailer. <v Speaker 1>And when was that announcement? It was like several years ago, <v Speaker 1>Now that was that was a. <v Speaker 3>Long time ago. Yeah, let mean, actually let me look <v Speaker 3>that up. <v Speaker 1>Wasn't It wasn't even that long after Kingdom Arts three <v Speaker 1>came out. It's like closer to that than it is <v Speaker 1>to today, right, I think that's right. Two sheesh is <v Speaker 1>what someone in chat is guessing. <v Speaker 2>That sounds about right to me too, Yeah, twenty two. <v Speaker 1>Okay, So I mean I also I agree with you <v Speaker 1>about Kingdom Hearts four that I still expected to take <v Speaker 1>quite some time before we really hear about that game, <v Speaker 1>and yet it's already been three years going to be <v Speaker 1>four here very soon since we since they started talking <v Speaker 1>about it. <v Speaker 2>But that's just the way those go. Sometime, I think <v Speaker 2>that you nailed it. <v Speaker 1>They announced that one very early on in whatever development <v Speaker 1>cycle they're on for that game, Final Fantasy VI Remake <v Speaker 1>Part three, that that could You're right, that could drop <v Speaker 1>at any minute, we could, Like he's saying, they've already <v Speaker 1>decided the schedule. That means they probably are talking about <v Speaker 1>as early as Tokyo Game Show. I don't know if <v Speaker 1>scor Enix has a presence there. I've not looked into that, <v Speaker 1>or you know, by the Game Awards like that the <v Speaker 1>Game Awards saw. <v Speaker 3>That's where we first saw the trailer for the original, <v Speaker 3>like the original remake trailer, right, yes, that the Game Awards, <v Speaker 3>So it wouldn't surprise me. I think it was the <v Speaker 3>Game Wards. I wouldn't be surprised if they were waiting <v Speaker 3>until the big end of the year trailer showcase to <v Speaker 3>be like, here's Final Fantasy seven Remake Part three yep, <v Speaker 3>coming late next year, early twenty twenty seven, whatever, And <v Speaker 3>you know, twenty twenty seven would not surprise me honestly, <v Speaker 3>because I don't. Isn't squareing it sort of like trying <v Speaker 3>to consolidate a little bit and not have so many <v Speaker 3>projects out there, So I would. <v Speaker 1>I think what they said was they wanted bigger projects <v Speaker 1>and fewer projects. That that sort of mantra reforts from <v Speaker 1>some other publishers. Square and said that in the last <v Speaker 1>couple of years, like the last year. <v Speaker 3>I should say, yes, yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if <v Speaker 3>they were just sort of putting all their chips on <v Speaker 3>Final Fantasy seven Remake Part three and then once that's out, <v Speaker 3>then they're going to move all the chips over to <v Speaker 3>Kingdom Parts Part four, right, And. <v Speaker 1>I think they're like, they feel comfortable doing that because <v Speaker 1>they have a strategy that does shift things up. So <v Speaker 1>it's like if Final Fantasy seven and then Final Fantasy <v Speaker 1>seven Remake, you know, part two was rebirth if those <v Speaker 1>disappointed in any way. I think Square Nix is fully <v Speaker 1>in the camp of it's because we lock things down <v Speaker 1>to PlayStation this go around, We're gonna launch it everywhere <v Speaker 1>at the same time, including PC and switch to so <v Speaker 1>we think that that's going to really change things and <v Speaker 1>make the game a much bigger deal and help us <v Speaker 1>get the sales numbers that that we're craving for these games. <v Speaker 1>I think that they're probably closer to right than wrong <v Speaker 1>on that, but who knows if they actually end up <v Speaker 1>being satisfied whatever, But that's kind of you know, regardless, <v Speaker 1>that's aside the point. The point here is that they <v Speaker 1>are gonna put all their effort into Final Fantasy seven <v Speaker 1>Remake Part three because they think it'll do much better <v Speaker 1>because of the switch in PC and PlayStation launching it <v Speaker 1>at the same time, maybe even Xbox. And then you're right, Yeah, <v Speaker 1>they can focus on Kingdom Hearts at that point, and <v Speaker 1>all these smaller side projects that we're probably not too <v Speaker 1>distracting because they weren't in the Mira teams. <v Speaker 2>But still those resources are going to go into those projects. <v Speaker 1>So maybe we get Kingdom Heart's four even faster than <v Speaker 1>we're thinking. <v Speaker 2>But I doubt they're going to want to rush that. <v Speaker 4>No. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think it's gonna be a lot long time <v Speaker 3>before we hear about king of Heart. Like I would <v Speaker 3>not have anyone hold their breath on that. <v Speaker 1>Ben's Studio is hiring for a new multiplayer game following <v Speaker 1>live service game cancelation. This is from Shahir Sahid at <v Speaker 1>Tech for Gamers. Ben Studios, perhaps the most underrated developer <v Speaker 1>under PlayStation, repeatedly held back from reaching its true potential. <v Speaker 1>It's been six years since Days Gone was released, and <v Speaker 1>since then the studio's portfolio has stagnated. Over the past <v Speaker 1>six years, the developer has worked on multiple unannounced projects, <v Speaker 1>all of which were subsequently canceled. Now Tech for Gamers <v Speaker 1>has spotted that they've moved on to another new multiplayer project, <v Speaker 1>as they're hiring a creative director. <v Speaker 2>For the game. <v Speaker 1>Why it matters. While fans yearn for a Day's Gone sequel, <v Speaker 1>Ben's Studio and PlayStation have other plans. All these cancelations <v Speaker 1>in the past for sufficient proof. But the developer intended <v Speaker 1>to make a single player game. Did details on Ben <v Speaker 1>Studi's next major bl blah blah blah. Either way, there <v Speaker 1>was a job listing says for a creative says a <v Speaker 1>creative director multiplayer game. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. <v Speaker 1>Do you think that that's going to be under the <v Speaker 1>live service initiatives still? And there they canceled a live <v Speaker 1>service game to make another live service game or do <v Speaker 1>when you hear multiplayer game, do you think that could <v Speaker 1>mean something different? <v Speaker 3>Oh? I mean, it's hard to say with because I <v Speaker 3>think if I think if, even if it is live <v Speaker 3>service technically, that's not how they're going to market it, <v Speaker 3>not after what happened. <v Speaker 2>A good point, Yeah, interesting, because the. <v Speaker 3>Thing is when you hear Ben Studio multiplayer game, like, <v Speaker 3>I don't even know what that would look like, to <v Speaker 3>be honest, because all I know Ben's Studio for is <v Speaker 3>Days Gone. <v Speaker 2>And Bubbs three D of course and Bubs. <v Speaker 3>Three D of course of course? How can I forget? <v Speaker 3>But neither of those translate to multiplayer to me, like, <v Speaker 3>I'm not even sure what, Like am I are we <v Speaker 3>talking about like a dead by daylight? Here? Are we <v Speaker 3>talking about another concord? It could multiplayer doesn't doesn't tell <v Speaker 3>us anything. <v Speaker 2>But I'm like, is it a destiny? Like is in <v Speaker 2>an extraction shooter? Like? What are they talking about? <v Speaker 3>Here? <v Speaker 2>Could be any number of things. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, And I mean there's a lot of potential PlayStation <v Speaker 3>IP they could be working on too, if you know, <v Speaker 3>if PlayStation said we've got that studio and we want <v Speaker 3>them to have something to do to justify keeping everybody <v Speaker 3>on the payroll. So here, here you go. But sounded <v Speaker 3>more dismissive that I meant for it too. But you <v Speaker 3>know that's my impression of the PlayStation higher ups. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, Ben studio, pardon me? <v Speaker 1>Is like it probably can't mean, like, what's the studio <v Speaker 1>that makes Heavenly Sword and hell Blade. <v Speaker 2>Ninja Ninja Theory? You're right? <v Speaker 1>Do you remember what their multiplayer game was called in <v Speaker 1>the early days of X. Was it this Generation Jesus <v Speaker 1>that might have been in the early days of the <v Speaker 1>Xbox series X. It was like some like like Mobile <v Speaker 1>Light sort of online multiplayer game, and it played just fine. <v Speaker 1>Bleeding Edge, thank you, Turbo Sean Bleeding Edge, which I <v Speaker 1>don't blame anyone for not remembering because I couldn't remember <v Speaker 1>that that. Yes, yes, So it was like just this <v Speaker 1>kind of even stock standard multiplayer game with different characters <v Speaker 1>that had different abilities, and you. <v Speaker 2>Had a goal. <v Speaker 1>I don't remember what it was, probably you know, get <v Speaker 1>on target and stand in a circle while the memeter <v Speaker 1>fills up. <v Speaker 2>I don't remember exactly, but it was. <v Speaker 1>It was fine, it was decent, and it came and <v Speaker 1>it went and it just seemed to make no impact whatsoever. <v Speaker 2>And it's hard to let when you look at that game, <v Speaker 2>it's like what would have. <v Speaker 1>Been like the big upside, It's like, I guess it <v Speaker 1>had it really hit very hard, they could have began <v Speaker 1>tacking on some live service stuff to make money in <v Speaker 1>the long run, and who makes skins, I guess, like <v Speaker 1>an Overwatch like I don't think anyone could really do <v Speaker 1>an Overwatch like right now other than a handful of <v Speaker 1>the biggest companies, and even Blizzard would probably struggle at <v Speaker 1>this point to pull that off again, so it's probably <v Speaker 1>it's probably not something like that. And because if you're <v Speaker 1>gonna punch a ticket. You're gonna if you're gonna buy <v Speaker 1>a lotto ticket here, you're gonna want to one that <v Speaker 1>has a big chance of paying off. <v Speaker 2>I think that con they continue to think that means. <v Speaker 1>Extraction Shooter and I a Fortnite Like, I guess, but <v Speaker 1>who else is gonna be able to do Fortnite? <v Speaker 2>And they don't it's probably not any these companies or <v Speaker 2>I think they're doing that. <v Speaker 1>So I just I don't know, You're right, what does <v Speaker 1>a Ben Studio multiplayer game even mean? <v Speaker 3>I mean, I well, and I know everyone is saying <v Speaker 3>like we want more Days Gone, and I'm like, they're <v Speaker 3>not gonna make another day. They're not gonna make a <v Speaker 3>Day's Gone multiplayer game. Put that out there. They're not <v Speaker 3>making that. That's the one thing I can I can <v Speaker 3>say with almost complete certainty that they are not making. <v Speaker 2>It would be like if you just made a new <v Speaker 2>Days Gone. <v Speaker 1>At this point, that seems like that would be the <v Speaker 1>best use of the studios time. A Day's Gone too <v Speaker 1>would actually probably hit real hard for a lot of <v Speaker 1>people in a surprising way. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, Because I mean they put Days Gone in that <v Speaker 3>PlayStation collection when you got the PlayStation five. Yeah, I <v Speaker 3>forget what it was called, but they put it in <v Speaker 3>with that classics collection, So I think that really boosted <v Speaker 3>the game's popularity, and it's now I think it's I <v Speaker 3>think even if it has a reached cult classic status, <v Speaker 3>it is certainly getting there. So if they wanted to <v Speaker 3>turn on and say like, hey, surprise, we were making <v Speaker 3>Days Gone too, then yeah, that would that would go over, <v Speaker 3>that would go over retreat. <v Speaker 1>I think, all right, Well, if it happens and I'm <v Speaker 1>gonna I'm gonna throw this out as a rule, and <v Speaker 1>he can't he's not on the show. <v Speaker 2>He can't stop me. <v Speaker 1>If Sean doesn't complete Days Sean by the time a <v Speaker 1>Day's Gone two or to get announced, probably not gonna happen. <v Speaker 1>So you probably save Sean. You have to play both completely. <v Speaker 1>You have to finish both games. All right, Let's keep <v Speaker 1>going here. Guy who tried to fight Nintendo piracy lawsuit <v Speaker 1>without a lawyer will now pay two million dollars surprise. <v Speaker 1>This is from John Walker at Kataku. Nintendo's war against <v Speaker 1>martyrs and ROM distributors has seen some brutal takedowns over <v Speaker 1>the years, dishing out extraordinary punishments against those who would <v Speaker 1>make it possible for people to play pirated Nintendo games. <v Speaker 1>The latest to fall a foul of the Japanese behemoth <v Speaker 1>is Ryan Daily, who for the longest time looked like <v Speaker 1>he was attempting an incredibly optimistic and clearly naive attempt <v Speaker 1>to fight back. That's over now, as the MiG switch <v Speaker 1>marter has settled for two million dollars in an agreement <v Speaker 1>to never touch a mod again in his life life. <v Speaker 1>Holy shit, Ryan Homebrew Okay, sorry, his nickname here got <v Speaker 1>me Ryan the homebrew homie Daily had run modded Hardware, <v Speaker 1>a site that sold moded switches able to install homebrew <v Speaker 1>or pirated versions of Switch games, and sold the tools <v Speaker 1>with which others could do the same. <v Speaker 2>This is the MiG switch, little. <v Speaker 1>Kind of R four card style thing that you might <v Speaker 1>have had for your DS enables you to play ROMs <v Speaker 1>off the card. <v Speaker 2>It was. It worked in some archaic ways. <v Speaker 1>It wasn't perfect, but people were buying this thing, and <v Speaker 1>then they were putting their switch twos and their switch <v Speaker 1>toos were getting not I don't know if they were <v Speaker 1>getting bricked, but they were definitely getting blocked from online. <v Speaker 1>So Nintendo was immediately immediately going after these things. But <v Speaker 1>Ryan Daily here, the Homebrew Homie tried to represent himself <v Speaker 1>in this fight against Nintendo, and just for him two <v Speaker 1>million dollars is how it went and away from him. <v Speaker 1>Actually always a tough thing. I like, I'm sympathized because <v Speaker 1>I play pirated games, but they're older pirated games, and <v Speaker 1>you know, I do have my own personal line, but <v Speaker 1>I don't sit in judgment of anyone who does anything. <v Speaker 1>And it's like a kid doesn't have any money and <v Speaker 1>makes their decisions to do things how they want and <v Speaker 1>yet don't don't violate Nintendo's IP for any of their <v Speaker 1>games that are ongoing concerns. They will come for you. <v Speaker 1>They are litigious. This is the company that will send <v Speaker 1>their lawyers. They had the Nintendo Ninjas are real. You <v Speaker 1>got it, Like, you just got to avoid this. You <v Speaker 1>got to find some other scheme to run. And the <v Speaker 1>Homebrew Homie, I promise you will have your back if <v Speaker 1>you built some other way that has anything to do <v Speaker 1>with any other company, will pick up that as well. <v Speaker 1>I know that the dollars involved with providing this for <v Speaker 1>a Nintendo consul are massive, but just don't fall prey <v Speaker 1>to it, because there's no getting around the Nintendo Police <v Speaker 1>Force coming after you, right, I mean. <v Speaker 3>I want to be a you know, I want to <v Speaker 3>be like not on the side of Big Corpo here. <v Speaker 3>But on the other hand, it's like, well, what did <v Speaker 3>you expect them to do? Homebrew homie, would you say <v Speaker 3>that I hear, I hear a D and D term. <v Speaker 3>I've been playing too much D and D lately, so, <v Speaker 3>but yeah, what did you expect? It falls under the <v Speaker 3>heading of what did you expect to happen? And I <v Speaker 3>don't know, honestly, I think two million dollars I think <v Speaker 3>is getting off a little light there. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, A lot of these a lot of these people <v Speaker 1>that have been like, have run a foul of Nintendo <v Speaker 1>before have ended up paying quite a lot of money. <v Speaker 3>So yeah, and I I mean I kind of understand <v Speaker 3>if maybe he was trying to like maybe set some <v Speaker 3>kind of a legal precedent. But if you're not a <v Speaker 3>lawyer and you don't have a lawyer who's backing your <v Speaker 3>play there, I think that can be that can that <v Speaker 3>can definitely be difficult. And I don't think he set <v Speaker 3>any kind of illegal precedent for the people who are <v Speaker 3>very going to go after next. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's a settlement. So there will be no precedent <v Speaker 1>involved here. There was no ruling. This was a deal <v Speaker 1>between him and Nintendo, because otherwise it would have been <v Speaker 1>a lot worse, which is the outcome that I think <v Speaker 1>everyone on both sides would have wanted in this case. <v Speaker 1>Because Nintendo doesn't want the ruling to be figured out <v Speaker 1>in this situation. They wanted to continue to be nebulous <v Speaker 1>because they can do a lot more threatening stuff. If <v Speaker 1>the ruling is nebulous, they can maybe overreach and be like, <v Speaker 1>we don't really know. This has not been settled, which <v Speaker 1>is a lot the case for a lot of these issues. <v Speaker 1>I know there's some precedents in some incidences when it <v Speaker 1>involves emulation in other areas, but Nintendo would fight that <v Speaker 1>stuff fresh, and they don't want that stuff to be <v Speaker 1>solidified yet because they can do a lot in the <v Speaker 1>nebulous areas. And then on the other side, no one <v Speaker 1>wants the president to be set by the guy representing himself. <v Speaker 1>They would want real lawyers actually going And even then, <v Speaker 1>no one's been able to put up the money to <v Speaker 1>fight that fight. <v Speaker 2>No one's willing to do it yet. <v Speaker 3>So honestly, I look at this story, I'm like, what were. <v Speaker 3>I almost want there to be like a sort of <v Speaker 3>rhyme or reason to what he was doing, but I <v Speaker 3>can't see one other than I'm gonna I'm gonna fight <v Speaker 3>the good fight against Big Corpo. And that didn't you <v Speaker 3>know you don't have you don't have the money or <v Speaker 3>the training to fight Big Corpo. Buddy, Yep. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>The systems set up for the people that know how <v Speaker 1>to play the system, and that's not us. All right, <v Speaker 1>let's keep going here. We have a story to tell. <v Speaker 1>That's a quote from Machine Games talking about the Wolfenstein trilogy, <v Speaker 1>which they claim is yet to be finished. This is <v Speaker 1>from Chris Scullian at VGC, the studio head of Machine Games, <v Speaker 1>says it's not finished yet with the Wolfenstein story and <v Speaker 1>would like to make another entry in the series. The <v Speaker 1>Swedish studio recently developed Indiana Jones in the Great Circle, <v Speaker 1>but before that it was mainly focused on the Wolfenstein <v Speaker 1>series of first person shooters. This included two main entries, <v Speaker 1>Wolfenstein the New Order and Wolfenstein to the New Colossus, <v Speaker 1>as well as a prequel and a spinoff and a <v Speaker 1>VR experience. However, in the latest installment of a no <v Speaker 1>clip documentary, shouts out to Danny. <v Speaker 2>He did a whole thing on Wolfenstein. People should go <v Speaker 2>check it out. <v Speaker 1>A series, a series about the history of machine games. <v Speaker 1>That's what the documentary is about. Co founder and studio <v Speaker 1>head Jake or Jerk Gustafson said the studio always planned <v Speaker 1>a main trilogy of games, meaning a third title remains undeveloped. <v Speaker 1>The first game is very much about protagonist bj and <v Speaker 1>how obviously he understands that the Nazis have won the war, <v Speaker 1>but it's also a. <v Speaker 2>Very personal journey for him. <v Speaker 1>But at the same time he meets Anya, he starts <v Speaker 1>to see that there are other things at play as well, <v Speaker 1>not only fighting Nazis. And then moving into New Colossus, <v Speaker 1>then we move into a wider group of people around you, <v Speaker 1>being part of the resistance, something bigger and something also <v Speaker 1>like a family to you. But at the same time <v Speaker 1>you're also preparing to start maybe your own family. I <v Speaker 1>think this is important to say because we have always <v Speaker 1>seen this as a trilogy, so that journey for Bja, <v Speaker 1>even during those first weeks at its software, when we <v Speaker 1>mapped out in New Order, we still had the plan <v Speaker 1>for at least that character. What will happen in the <v Speaker 1>second one, and then what will happen in the third one. <v Speaker 1>I think it's important to say because at least I <v Speaker 1>hope that we're not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have <v Speaker 1>a story to tell. I am a huge Wolfenstein fan. <v Speaker 1>It's one of my like, yeah, it's one of those <v Speaker 1>things where they really just tap into something that it's <v Speaker 1>truthful always, Like I told a story like we were <v Speaker 1>doing a Game of the Year one year and I <v Speaker 1>was telling Dean, like, oh, the story, you know it's <v Speaker 1>out this year, it's out twenty sixteen, and yet it's <v Speaker 1>basically telling us all the stuff that's happening right now. <v Speaker 1>And he said, well, yeah, they wrote this even before <v Speaker 1>the stuff was happening, so it's not really related. <v Speaker 2>I'm like, no, that's what makes it even. <v Speaker 1>More special because they just wrote like truth and it <v Speaker 1>turned out to be exactly what happened, because they have <v Speaker 1>their finger on the pulse of bigotry and fascism and <v Speaker 1>authoritarianism and it was and I wanted to see that <v Speaker 1>trilogy finished. And then I'm a huge Indiana Jones fan <v Speaker 1>as well, so I was like, okay, this is okay. <v Speaker 1>I just hope one day they'll go back to three. <v Speaker 1>I had lost hope though I was I was like, <v Speaker 1>you know what, Indiana Jones, seems like I did pretty well. <v Speaker 2>They'll do that for a while. <v Speaker 1>It's very unlikely that they're going to finish out that <v Speaker 1>Wolfenstein trilogy. Hearing this, do you think it's safe for <v Speaker 1>me to get my hopes back up or do you <v Speaker 1>think this is something that this is not a nice <v Speaker 1>thing to say, but it doesn't necessarily mean we're going <v Speaker 1>to get that third game. <v Speaker 3>He Honestly, I think I think it's good to get <v Speaker 3>your hopes up a little bit, because I mean, they <v Speaker 3>did just make a game that was that did really <v Speaker 3>well for Microsoft. So I think I think if somebody <v Speaker 3>loosened the loosened the leash a little bit and they <v Speaker 3>maybe gave them, maybe through a little bit of money <v Speaker 3>their way, I think Machine Games would probably say like, yeah, <v Speaker 3>we would love to play Wolfenstein. We would love to <v Speaker 3>go back work with it software and make another Wolfenstein game. <v Speaker 3>I think, honestly, I think like what happened with what <v Speaker 3>was It? Young Blood? I think that kind of put <v Speaker 3>people off of it a little bit. So I think <v Speaker 3>they might have to build back up a little bit <v Speaker 3>of good a little bit of good will but I <v Speaker 3>I don't know. I I honestly think. I mean, my <v Speaker 3>hopes are up now, Yeah, because I do remember that <v Speaker 3>there was more story to tell. I if I'm remembering correctly, <v Speaker 3>New Colossus kind of ended on a you know, the <v Speaker 3>Nazis are still out there. BJ still got more work <v Speaker 3>to do. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, the Hitler's not turned into mecha Hitler and you <v Speaker 1>haven't killed Mega Hitler yet. That's definitely like Killa Hitler. <v Speaker 3>Then that it is not over. <v Speaker 1>Exactly, and that's really always been the dream. It's just <v Speaker 1>seeing this Wolfenstein trology through to the conclusion where you <v Speaker 1>kill mecha Hitler and or but Hitler showed up in <v Speaker 1>that second game, and it was an incredible scene. It's like, <v Speaker 1>oh my god, like they really are building it in <v Speaker 1>such a way where like mecha Hitler kind of even <v Speaker 1>makes sense in some ways. <v Speaker 2>I love that. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, it was. I love new clauses and I and <v Speaker 3>I'm thinking it Software is doing pretty well bringing back <v Speaker 3>and like reviving it's it's older for its oldest franchises. <v Speaker 3>We just got a new Doom game this year, so <v Speaker 3>I feel it would actually make sense for them to say, <v Speaker 3>you know what, maybe we need to bring back Wolfenstein. <v Speaker 2>Maybe it's the time I really, I really hope. <v Speaker 3>So I'm gonna allow optimism this, Okay. <v Speaker 2>That's what I like to hear. I'm gonna choose to believe. <v Speaker 1>We'll see what happens with that in the meantime, last exactly, <v Speaker 1>we'll see last story here. Sonic Racing Crossworld's leak reveals <v Speaker 1>unannounced a DLC rider. This is from Michael Murphy at <v Speaker 1>Insider Gaming. Sonic Racing Crossworlds may have spoiled a new <v Speaker 1>DLC rider by accident if the leak is true. The <v Speaker 1>upcoming racing title, which sees Sonic and friends compete in <v Speaker 1>high octane races, is one that fans are excited to play. <v Speaker 1>With the open beta ending last weekend and a demo <v Speaker 1>on the way, It's September twenty second, twenty twenty five <v Speaker 1>release can't come soon enough. Unfortunately, a new leak may <v Speaker 1>have ruined a surprise for a famous Sega character after <v Speaker 1>being free DLC. According to a Reddit post on the <v Speaker 1>official r slash Sonic the Hedgehog page, user any Skills <v Speaker 1>sixty seven to ten found a pre order case for <v Speaker 1>Sonic Racing Crossworlds in New Zealand on the back of <v Speaker 1>the box art were models of the free DLC characters, <v Speaker 1>like a dragons, each of Akosaga and Persona five's Joker. However, <v Speaker 1>one character was on there that hasn't been announced yet, <v Speaker 1>Knights from Knights Into Dreams. Even more so, many fans <v Speaker 1>believe the character model is new given the lighting and design. <v Speaker 1>Interestingly enough, a recent Sonic Racing Crossworlds based episode of <v Speaker 1>Sega's Tails Tubes web series shut off a Night's inspired vehicle. <v Speaker 2>Still, the week is not official, so take it with <v Speaker 2>a grainess salt. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, this feels like something that of course Knights is <v Speaker 1>going to be in there, right, makes sense? <v Speaker 3>I haven't. I haven't heard about that game. And uh <v Speaker 3>it took me a minute to remember who Knights was <v Speaker 3>and I was like, oh, the one with the long <v Speaker 3>stripey things coming out of the dead. <v Speaker 1>Okay, yeah, a ballan wonder World's eating his lunch. Now <v Speaker 1>that's the balan is everyone's talking about balance instead of nice? <v Speaker 3>I know, I know, you can't. You can't compete where <v Speaker 3>you don't compare. <v Speaker 1>Mmm uh uh do you think that like they could <v Speaker 1>bring back a new Night's game or is this just <v Speaker 1>something they do for the racing game exactly towards that. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think this is just for the racing game, <v Speaker 3>but hey, there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing with <v Speaker 3>you know, bringing back in an IP because I mean, <v Speaker 3>I think in this day and age, like when games <v Speaker 3>cost so much to make, I think fully making a <v Speaker 3>New Night's game would probably they're they're looking at that <v Speaker 3>like that is not worth the money. But I want <v Speaker 3>to revive interest in the franchise. That's how you do it. <v Speaker 3>You bring back the character in a racing game as <v Speaker 3>a DLC and people younger, younger gamers will say, oh, <v Speaker 3>who's that racing alongside Sonic and then then they then <v Speaker 3>they can be educated. <v Speaker 1>That'd be fun. Actually, that's a good way to do that. <v Speaker 1>All right, that does it for the headlines. We should <v Speaker 1>get to the poll question. There is a new poll <v Speaker 1>question for this week. We did the Bomb twelve at <v Speaker 1>the end of last week. Everyone should go check that out. <v Speaker 1>I'm gonna get the blog post up today. Me and <v Speaker 1>Mike had to run to that concert, so I didn't <v Speaker 1>have any time to clean up the Bomb twelve stuff <v Speaker 1>for last week. <v Speaker 2>So that blog post go up today. <v Speaker 1>It will feature a link where you could tell us <v Speaker 1>what game you're playing this week. We'll get the results <v Speaker 1>on Friday, of course. Looking forward to doing that. In <v Speaker 1>the meantime, though, we have the new poll question, are <v Speaker 1>you having issues with Hollow Nights Silk Song's difficulty? Yes, <v Speaker 1>it's too hard, Yes, but that's fine. No, I got <v Speaker 1>good or no, I haven't played this video game. Those <v Speaker 1>are your options. We'll get the results on Game mess <v Speaker 1>Mornings here on Giant Bomb tomorrow. Speaking of Giant Bomb, <v Speaker 1>we will have Mitch owning Mondays today. I believe, yeah, <v Speaker 1>we should be able to do a Monday Morning mist <v Speaker 1>with Mitch where he's gonna be playing some more Riven. <v Speaker 1>Looking forward to that. I think we're really getting into Riven. <v Speaker 1>Sounds like we might be wrapping it up soon. Like <v Speaker 1>I had no idea, you know, kind of like where <v Speaker 1>we were. I was still like, have we even gotten <v Speaker 1>to the real puzzles yet. It's like, turns out these <v Speaker 1>big meta like an island spanning puzzles are the real <v Speaker 1>puzzles to the game. <v Speaker 2>And that's that. <v Speaker 3>I've been watching you play some of that. It's been. <v Speaker 3>It's been. It's been very nostalgic because I I haven't <v Speaker 3>I didn't I played the Riven remake. But I mean, <v Speaker 3>I'm still flashing back to like when I first played Riven, <v Speaker 3>back when I was back when I was a wee <v Speaker 3>little PC gamer and I just played Missed for the <v Speaker 3>first time and I moved on to Riven, and I <v Speaker 3>needed my mom's help. Oh yeah, play the puzzles. <v Speaker 1>That's it definitely seems like a game where you go, Mom, <v Speaker 1>I don't I don't get it. There's a lot of <v Speaker 1>weird puzzles in there, and apparently they have really simplified <v Speaker 1>some of them, Like this marble puzzle we're doing was impossible. <v Speaker 2>I guess in the original game. It seemed insane to me. <v Speaker 1>And then Mega Man tonight Monday evening gaming at Mike's <v Speaker 1>at night. Excuse me, he'll play, he'll decide what he's <v Speaker 1>gonna play. Check that out. <v Speaker 2>That'll be eight pm Eastern time. Hop in for that. <v Speaker 2>All right? <v Speaker 1>You know what, before we get out of here, Rachel Kayser, <v Speaker 1>why don't you tell people where they can find you <v Speaker 1>on the internet, what you have going on and all <v Speaker 1>of that good stuff. <v Speaker 3>Okay, Well, you can find me primarily on Blue Sky <v Speaker 3>and TikTok under under my name and on my personal <v Speaker 3>channel on TikTok. And I also just <v Speaker 3>launched the games Beat TikTok channel where we're going to <v Speaker 3>start talking about gaming news.
