00:00:01 Speaker 1: This is Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:00:05 Speaker 2: Now here's Matt Jones. 00:00:07 Speaker 3: Welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Monday, November the eleventh. I am Matt Jones. I am in Chicago, Illinois, and Ryan is in Lexington. 00:00:18 Speaker 4: Shannon is in Louisville. It's like an old school. 00:00:21 Speaker 3: COVID show where we're all in different places, right and you can give shown the Clark's Puppet shot phone line eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. This edition sponsored by the t J. Smith Love as you called Tjh'll make them pay. So uh, I'm here in Chicago. I did the the Bears game yesterday for ESPN. Driving home after the show today. But as such, we're all over the place. Drew is in New York actually but not on the show, but getting ready for a big week. This is a big week, Ryan, I think in the sort of Kentucky back basketball sphere with the game against Duke on Tuesday. I was sitting here thinking yesterday as I was checking the text machine, I didn't really have a ton of service at the game, and all of a sudden, I got all these messages of people after the game on Saturday, and I can't think of a regular season game that Kentucky fans, especially pre Christmas, have been this excited. 00:01:28 Speaker 4: About Ryan in a long time. 00:01:30 Speaker 3: I mean, I wonder if you have to go back to the Zion game five or six years ago to find a time that the fans have been kind of this amped about a regular season game. 00:01:41 Speaker 5: I totally agree with you. Yeah, I think people right now are so excited. We saw it Saturday at the restaurant. I sent you that text in Matt. This is like a college football game. It's like a UK Saturday for a football game. Because people were in line at ten fifteen. We don't even open to eleven for bu but now for. 00:01:59 Speaker 3: But now Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean that's what's that's what's amazing about it. And I I'm just I'm really you know, I'm really happy. I mean this this fan base, when they get into something, it's as good as anywhere. Well, and for basketball, I think it's better than anywhere in the country, but even for football, like people just the way they get excited is fun and it is contagious. I mean, I'll talk more a little later about what the Bears game was like yesterday and the amount of Kentucky fans that came, But there were probably over the course of the day twenty five to thirty KSR fans that came out. There probably another twenty fans just of the Sunday show. But the Kentucky fans all came. Not only were they wearing UK gear, Ryan, they all wanted to talk about the game on Tuesday. I mean, that's what everybody wants to talk about. 00:02:45 Speaker 4: Is how we're gonna do. But let's first start about the game on Well, first of all. 00:02:51 Speaker 3: Shannon is is a little grumpy, Ryan, because Shannon now has to get up even earlier in the morning, tell everybody and tell everybody what's happened. 00:02:59 Speaker 4: Shan. 00:03:00 Speaker 1: Well, I'm sure a lot of you have probably read there's been some company wide layoffs and because of that, now I have two more shows that I have to be a part of. 00:03:08 Speaker 4: So that you need to be on more shows. That's always thought, Shannon's not on enough show. 00:03:13 Speaker 1: So now I've got six shows that I have to be a part of every single day. 00:03:18 Speaker 4: Everybody, what you six shows? 00:03:19 Speaker 1: So okay, we start things off bright and early with the Jerry Eves Show. 00:03:24 Speaker 4: All right, So what time does that come on? 00:03:25 Speaker 2: Seven o'clock, which means I have to be. 00:03:28 Speaker 4: In producing at seven am. 00:03:31 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, and I can't just roll in it exactly seven. You gotta get her a little bit before, you know, get ready. So I'm in here by around six thirty, which means I'm up by five thirty now every morning. 00:03:40 Speaker 2: All right, So then you got Eves, then. 00:03:42 Speaker 1: You got then you got Leech, then you got of course the pre show, which I have to not only co host but also now produce, which is you should see me doing that, juggling that, So that. 00:03:50 Speaker 4: Means you like have to be on the show, but also like answer. 00:03:53 Speaker 1: The phone, yeah, and time out the show and play the music for the show and do everything. Then of course this show, then of course my afternoon stuff a Q, I'm F and double Q. So that's six shows and I don't think that there's anybody else in this company that does that many shows. 00:04:06 Speaker 6: There's nobody in the world that does six shows a day every day. 00:04:09 Speaker 4: No six shows. 00:04:10 Speaker 3: But at the end of it, like do you feel like when you go home you've said enough? The course of the day, do you think the other things you want to get off your chas. 00:04:20 Speaker 1: I just sent in silence for the rest of the day, kind of like a singer that's been told you know, you can't can't talk today you're on you know, vocal Rust. 00:04:27 Speaker 3: Well, I mean, hopefully you'll get a little relief in that, but it's nice to know that you're the seven Am. Jerry Eves now has Shannon behind the Uh. 00:04:38 Speaker 4: It's interesting though you kind of amp up as the day goes on. 00:04:41 Speaker 3: You're not really on Jerry Eves, not really on Tom Leach, but now then you're kind of on pre SHOWKSR and then you're by yourself on the music shows in the air. 00:04:50 Speaker 6: That's right. 00:04:50 Speaker 1: So basically from seven in the morning till seven in the afternoon, twelve straight hours of me and the dudes. I'm tired of hearing myself talk about the end. 00:04:58 Speaker 4: Of the day. Well, well, the new schedule is. I hope it works out for you. 00:05:04 Speaker 3: So Shannon's in a grumpy mood, but I do think we should talk about I want to talk about the bear stuff. 00:05:11 Speaker 4: I want to talk about a lot of our kind of rivals. 00:05:14 Speaker 3: Had very eventful weekends, but We've got to start with Kentucky and. 00:05:18 Speaker 4: What happened Saturday. 00:05:20 Speaker 3: You mentioned Ryan that you know it was probably it was our biggest at the bar November basketball Saturday. 00:05:28 Speaker 4: Like ever. 00:05:30 Speaker 3: The game obviously was not there because I was here, but people who went, did you go, Ryan? 00:05:36 Speaker 4: Did you know the game? 00:05:37 Speaker 6: I didn't go. I did the pregame shop the wein. 00:05:39 Speaker 3: Said as good an atmosphere for a November game that they can remember in a decade, And so that's awesome. And then of course we win one hundred to seventy two. What I think is excited about it. Ryan, I didn't even think we played particularly great, but we still scored one hundred points one by twenty eight and was a very positive day, even though I'm not sure that I think it was our best effort in the world. 00:06:06 Speaker 6: Yeah, I kind of struggled a little bit, but there. 00:06:08 Speaker 5: You know, the one thing that Mark Pope talked about all week last week was rebounds and offensive rebounds. 00:06:13 Speaker 6: Matt, they got. 00:06:14 Speaker 5: Fifty seven rebounds twenty two offensive rebounds, so I think he should be happy this week with what And then the two stars were two guys that came off the bench in Brand and kurb they were They were the two stars of the game. 00:06:26 Speaker 3: Brea with twenty points, six for seven from three. He is now shooting ten for twelve from three. He's shooting eighty two percent from the three point. 00:06:36 Speaker 2: He's going to be a real problem for every team that they play. 00:06:39 Speaker 4: Yeah, well, because you know you can't leave him. 00:06:42 Speaker 3: I was interesting after the game, Mark Pope said he's the best shooter in the country. 00:06:47 Speaker 4: In stop. 00:06:48 Speaker 3: He didn't say like he's one of the best shooters. He said he's the best shooter in the country. And if you I think that's gotta be true, right, I mean, like, who could be better? 00:06:59 Speaker 4: At this point? 00:06:59 Speaker 3: When when he shoots, you think it's in. His two misses were both contested. He's been open on those ten, probably seven of them, and it's like. 00:07:08 Speaker 4: It's the net doesn't move. 00:07:10 Speaker 3: I used to think we weren't gonna see a shooter that I when open, was more confident they'd hit than Reeves. 00:07:17 Speaker 4: I think I haven't right now. 00:07:19 Speaker 3: I know it's two games, but when he when he's open, it's it's it's butter right. 00:07:23 Speaker 6: It's amazing. 00:07:24 Speaker 5: Now we see why he led the nation in three point percentage last year at Daton when he shot like well almost fifty percent. The guy's automatic and he's coming off the bench. So what kind of weapon does that give you if you're bringing a guy like that off the bench that can just hit from anywhere at any time. 00:07:38 Speaker 4: Shannon, I feel like you really like ker Right. 00:07:40 Speaker 3: It seems to me like if you if he if you were to have an Estonian Shannon the dude, I feel like it would be Kerr. Like he's kind of a brat. He kind of gets in your in your in your grill. He also is is sharing. He had twelve assists. I mean his comment after the game where he was about Cooper flag where he was like, so I guess he's the number one pick, So congrats for. 00:08:03 Speaker 4: That, Like, like completely sarcastic. 00:08:06 Speaker 3: I just feel like he's you again, if you were a Estonian, which I don't believe you are. 00:08:11 Speaker 2: I am not last time I checked. 00:08:12 Speaker 1: But you know, he was making no look passes and I can already foresee tomorrow night that somebody's gonna get teed up and it's either gonna be him, or it's gonna or a duke players as a result of him getting under their skin because he's just you can. 00:08:24 Speaker 4: Bet that on draft Kings. 00:08:26 Speaker 3: What would you do if you could test either Kerk or a guy who gets mad at Kerr gets a technical? 00:08:31 Speaker 4: You would take it? 00:08:31 Speaker 7: Right? 00:08:32 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:08:32 Speaker 2: He is our Marshall Henderson and I love it. 00:08:36 Speaker 4: How many Marshall Henderson types have we had? Right? 00:08:39 Speaker 6: I mean I haven't been many mcglore. 00:08:43 Speaker 3: Well, let's let's just think about who have Who have our dudes that your their goal is to make you mad? 00:08:50 Speaker 4: Lance? Where was one of those in recent years? Wouldn't you agree with that? Yeah? Yeah? 00:08:54 Speaker 6: Do you put DeMarcus in that category? 00:08:56 Speaker 8: Two? 00:08:57 Speaker 3: DeMarcus though, was so good it's almost like he is JaMarcus. I guess is on the list. Mcgloor is definitely on. 00:09:07 Speaker 6: The glowers the captain, I think, has. 00:09:09 Speaker 4: There been has there been a guard like that? Have we had a guard who. 00:09:14 Speaker 3: Has been this kind of you know, I want to make you mad, like get you fired up in a technical? 00:09:21 Speaker 4: I can't think of a guard that has been like that in recent years, can you? No? 00:09:26 Speaker 6: I haven't either. Somebody that talks smack like that all the time. 00:09:29 Speaker 4: If you can think of it seven seven two seven four five two five. 00:09:33 Speaker 3: But I like it because he's like a little He's like a little bug, but also a bug that can get twelve assists, right, which I think is exciting. 00:09:43 Speaker 6: Twelve assists. 00:09:43 Speaker 5: And I don't know how many turners he had, but it wasn't many, if any at all. So the and I don't and I hate to say this, but they play faster when he's out there, when when when they they had a lot of time when he was running the point and Lamont mulers on the two. 00:09:56 Speaker 6: The team just seems to play faster when Kerr has you. 00:09:59 Speaker 9: Play the point, but they also give up more points during that during that period. 00:10:03 Speaker 4: I mean, it's just a different thing. 00:10:05 Speaker 3: I think when Lamont, when Lamont and Oway are in it's a little sort But when we're talking about slow, compare it to two or three years ago, it's still warp speed, right Like this is I mean this this team plays at such a pace. I was listening to the guys on the Field of sixty eight Jeff Goodman's day, and they said, and I think this is true, Kentucky will have the most entertaining games all season, just because ryan of the pace and the way. 00:10:35 Speaker 4: That a game with Kentucky is gonna be this year. 00:10:37 Speaker 3: I think our games, even if you're just a neutral observer, are gonna be the most fun games to watch all year. 00:10:43 Speaker 5: And I think that's the word that everybody use at the restaurant Saturday. It's just fun again, there's so much fun. This is gonna be a fun season. 00:10:49 Speaker 6: I can't wait to watch them because they're fun to watch. I think. 00:10:51 Speaker 5: I think that's it because the way they play, and they're able to back it up by putting a lot of points on the board. 00:10:55 Speaker 6: One hundred again. 00:10:57 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, so far this year, you've had two regular season games. 00:11:00 Speaker 4: Our two leading scorers Away and Brea. 00:11:04 Speaker 3: Who I don't think we're in our predicted top three scorers to start the season. Uh, everyone puts the ball in the basket. 00:11:13 Speaker 4: No one. 00:11:13 Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not sure anyone. Ryan has been a disappointment. I mean maybe you would say, well, I thought we'd see better games from car but he's still averaging ten points a game at this point. Do you think, again, it's two games, it's right state, it's Bucknell. I get that, But do you think anyone has even been a slight disappointment so far? 00:11:34 Speaker 5: No excuse me going going into the Bucknail game. If I had to pick one guy, but I thought, well, we haven't seen Brea have a big breakout game yet. 00:11:41 Speaker 4: Boom. 00:11:42 Speaker 6: Then we got it Saturday. Mario Williams another double double. I mean he may be one of those guys like Oscar thirteen and fourteen. 00:11:49 Speaker 3: Yeah, like, I mean that's a huge you know, if Oscar hadn't spoiled us, that's the that's like a Julius Randall game, right, Like, that's a Randall game. And but the teams with Randall were based around Randall. Williams is getting it without even being a centerpiece of the offense. 00:12:08 Speaker 5: Yeah, he can do it all. He you know, good passing from the from the high post when he comes up there. As long as he doesn't shoot any jumpers outside of three feet, we're gonna be good with that guy. 00:12:17 Speaker 4: All right. So I have a friend who just wrote me this shame. Yeah, this is this. 00:12:22 Speaker 3: I literally got this second ago. And this is a friend who wouldn't lie. I met Kirk Crease after the game with my family. I went up to him and said, man, you're so fun to watch play. He just looked me straight in the eye and said, yeah, I know, I love it. 00:12:39 Speaker 2: I love that He's like, yeah, I am. 00:12:45 Speaker 4: Again, that's something you would say. You don't like that, exactly what you would tell me you. 00:12:49 Speaker 2: Don't love that response? Yeah I am. 00:12:51 Speaker 4: I know that. Yeah, I know, I love it. 00:12:53 Speaker 2: You gotta have that. 00:12:54 Speaker 4: That's one of the great responses I've ever heard. Yeah, I know, I know. 00:12:58 Speaker 2: That is a confidence that you have to have. 00:13:00 Speaker 1: He believes he's the best player out on the court every time he steps out there. 00:13:04 Speaker 4: Wow. Wow, I don't even know what to say about that. I did not see that. Yeah, I know. 00:13:09 Speaker 2: That's what I would say for sure. 00:13:11 Speaker 4: That is what you have to be. 00:13:12 Speaker 5: If you're you're wearing number seventy seven in your first name, You're. 00:13:15 Speaker 3: Wearing seventy seven. I mean, come on, he's wearing seventy seven? Are you kidding me? 00:13:20 Speaker 4: And I like that. 00:13:20 Speaker 3: Mark Pope is just it's just kind of takes a view, Hey man, be you right, like, be you as long as you show up and play, be you. This team is so much fun, and it's fun in a way that like you don't know what's next. Part of what's cool about this group is they're not sort of burdened by expectations. We have no idea whether or not. They're gonna be good. We have no idea where they rank in the nation. We'll know better on Tuesday. But right now, the joy of watching a fun team play without any real expectation is exciting, and I think it's exactly what this fan base has needed. Eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. The text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. I want to talk more about the game. Take your calls. 00:14:14 Speaker 4: What do you think? 00:14:15 Speaker 3: And then we gotta talk about Duke. Are we gonna win? The line opened up. I thought it was wrong. We'll talk about what it was and see if you all agree. That's next year. Our ksr to be humble. This is a great sang, Shannon. This is one of the road trip songs I've taught you guys over the yeares right. Mike Davis mac Davis. Willie Nelson sings a version of this too. It's hard to be humble. What's the word? To know me is to love me? There's one where he says something like he uses a word and he says, I don't even know what that means, but I bet it means that I look good in my tight blue jeans. 00:14:55 Speaker 4: Or something like that. Shannon, I think that's a great line. 00:14:58 Speaker 2: Don't you think that's kind of Kerk Creases. 00:15:00 Speaker 4: I could see Kirk Curis. 00:15:01 Speaker 3: Yeah, I could see Kirk Crisis singing that people are giving me some guards who like to talk trash. But that was like, I think that's a little different than what he does. Romel was a big trash talker. Yeah, DeAndre Liggins, Ryan was a huge trash talker. 00:15:17 Speaker 5: He may be the best as far as a in your face, locked down and then talk smack to you. 00:15:22 Speaker 3: The one that kind of reminds me a little bit of him because of the way he was kind of a gnat was Patrick Sparks, although Sparks was also like one of the two best players on that team. But Patrick Sparks did sort of a country you didn't see it, but Ryan, he was talking trash the whole game. 00:15:40 Speaker 6: Yes, that's that Maybe the best we can come up with. 00:15:44 Speaker 5: I was thinking trying to think during the break land when I came up with was Rondo just as far as trying to make the other team mad. 00:15:51 Speaker 4: Yeah, Rondo would definitely try to make you mad. Yeah. 00:15:54 Speaker 3: Ramel was kind of like a joyous trash talker. But I love the kid and I watching the team and then Mark Pope. Okay, so Mark Pope before and after the I mean, so when my postgame show starts, it's usually about twenty minutes after his comments end. So usually Billy sends me a text and says, Pope just ended. I've been listening this year, but towards the end of the calier I didn't really listen, so I would get a little text. We have twenty minutes, so we do our pregame, so we do the come in and then I do a monologue. It's usually about ten minutes. At the end of that monologue, we're now at thirty minutes after he's finished his comments, and Ryan, I get a text that while I'm finishing that monologue that says, Mark Pope is still on the court signing people's autographs. Wow, that's now half an hour after he's finished the comments. 00:16:51 Speaker 4: Now, I don't expect him to do that all year. And also the more people expect him to. 00:16:55 Speaker 3: Do it, Shannon, there's gonna be more people there, yea, the whole But I will say, just the fact that he does that, you know, I don't think it'll be like that forever. But Ryan, what a way to get this fan base. I mean, I think he's got pretty much universal approval right now, but what a way to continue to build. 00:17:14 Speaker 4: Up the excitement. 00:17:15 Speaker 5: It's just another example of the way that we are all just falling in love with this guy, this coach, our leader now and he's just the perfect fit at the perfect time. You know, the program needed somebody like him, and then he fell Thank you, b Yu fell right into our lap. 00:17:31 Speaker 6: And now here we are. 00:17:34 Speaker 3: As far as the actual the way they played, you know, Ryan didn't again, didn't really shoot great, but just constantly pushing the ball. I do you know my worry for this team, and we're gonna find this out Tuesday nine is when you need a bucket in a big moment. Do you have a guy who can go get it right? Do you have a guy who can who can take his man and go get it. I don't know if we do or not. We'll find out Tuesday because we'll have those moments during the game. But in terms of hitting big shots and then getting rebounds, how about him saying I want us to go to offensive rebound and they come up with twenty two. 00:18:09 Speaker 5: I just have me listen to the radio and like midway through the first half, and Tom lead said Mark Pope said he they wanted to get about twenty two offensive rebounds in the game, and him halfway through the first half they already had eleven. 00:18:22 Speaker 6: I'm like, well, they. 00:18:24 Speaker 3: Heard him exactly twenty two. 00:18:27 Speaker 6: Yeah, they definitely took heart. 00:18:30 Speaker 4: I want you to do this, folks, for the for the Duke Game or for one of these games coming up. 00:18:35 Speaker 3: The Duke game's a little different because everybody's going to know the Duke team. But this is what impressed me the most. So I was driving up there to Chicago. I had to listen to the first half, but I also listened to a lot of the pregame show, especially I wanted to hear Pope, and I'll admit the last few years I haven't listened to that really at all. I listened to it, and I think people should do this, either in the Duke Game or one of these games to come. Pope went through with Tom Leach player by player on buck Nail's roster, and he didn't just say, you know, buck Nail's a team that likes to get up and down the floor. 00:19:10 Speaker 4: Bucknall likes to do this. 00:19:12 Speaker 3: He went player by player and explained what each player. 00:19:17 Speaker 4: Ryan does. 00:19:18 Speaker 3: He goes thirty one, likes to get the ball. He tends to want to go left. We're gonna want to push him right. So not only did he know it, he said it to the fans and I felt there listening. 00:19:33 Speaker 4: I was like, I feel like I am. 00:19:35 Speaker 3: Prepared to watch the game in a way that I wouldn't have been otherwise. It was so refreshing, and I just sat there and thought, this is a smart dude. I mean, this is a dude who we may win or lose games, but we are not going to be out prepared. 00:19:52 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:19:52 Speaker 5: I heard that too, and I was just like, this guy is prepared. Like this is an NCAA tournament game and it's Buck Neil on a Saturday in November, and he knows everything and every detail about every one of their players. 00:20:04 Speaker 3: All right, So Duke Shannon Line comes out six and a half point favorite. I predicted five and a half. So I was off by point six and a half. I got to tell you that feels hot to me. I was talking to Myron Metcalf. I think he'd be all right with me saying that yesterday. You know, he's ESPN's college basketball reporter, he picked Kentucky to win. He said, I don't understand why people don't think Kentucky can win. He said, you guys are good. Now that's a national reporter saying six and a half. 00:20:34 Speaker 4: Shannon, does it feel a little hot? 00:20:36 Speaker 1: You know early on in the season, I don't know how they even go about nailing down what the sport should be. 00:20:42 Speaker 4: So could you know by the way to spread ended up twenty eight and a half? Saturday? We won by twenty eight That's what I'm saying. 00:20:48 Speaker 1: Somehow, you're gonna watch the first Arkansas game. It was like a point off. Somehow they're able to nail down what the score and what the spread should be. So if they say six and a half, then I don't have really enough to really judge it one way the other. I guess I'm gonna trust Vegas and say it's probably about right right right. 00:21:03 Speaker 3: I think it's high. I think it should I think not only do I think we can win. I think this is gonna be a battle for Tuesday Night, and why not. 00:21:13 Speaker 6: I hope it is. I hope they it's a close game. 00:21:16 Speaker 4: Say you hope it is? White mane you don't think it will be. Do you hope so? Or do you know so? No? 00:21:21 Speaker 5: I hope it's a really close, like rock fight type game, because I think that'll play in Kentucky's favor because they got all the experience and the guys down the stretch that won't. 00:21:29 Speaker 6: Like panic or kick it away or something. Whereas are you. 00:21:32 Speaker 4: Worried that we might not stay in it? 00:21:34 Speaker 6: I mean like no, are you no? 00:21:37 Speaker 4: Okay? 00:21:37 Speaker 5: I don't know if you know, Duke may win, but it seems like Kentucky would probably cover if it stays at six and a half. 00:21:43 Speaker 2: Too many points to get blown out. I don't think. 00:21:45 Speaker 4: I agree. We scored too many points. 00:21:47 Speaker 3: By the way, for people I didn't know this, they've moved up the start of that first game, you know, Ryan, and that it used to be seven and nine thirty, which would turn into ten. Yes, now the first games at six, so it says we'll start at nine. It probably won't be nine, but it probably will be like nine to fifteen or nine thirty. So they've moved the start of that first game up, right, So that's good. 00:22:13 Speaker 4: It might not be quite as light as it's been in past years. 00:22:16 Speaker 5: Yeah, when we think it was nine thirty. We all knew that meant ten o'clock tip off, no doubt. 00:22:20 Speaker 4: So now I think actually it'll be about thirty minutes earlier. 00:22:23 Speaker 3: All Right, we're gonna take your calls a couple open lines, eight, five, nine, two, eight, twenty two, eighty seven. 00:22:28 Speaker 9: We got to talk about our rivals. They had quite a weekend Auburn, Arkansas and Louisville. That's next year, o KSR. 00:22:35 Speaker 4: TJ. 00:22:36 Speaker 2: Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:22:38 Speaker 4: He'll make them pay. 00:22:40 Speaker 1: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:22:43 Speaker 2: Here's Matt Jones. 00:22:44 Speaker 4: Wow, Shannon, this is you from this. 00:22:47 Speaker 2: To me, chugging down coffee. 00:22:48 Speaker 3: You're chegging down coffee, trying to sleep because you gotta be in here so early. 00:22:53 Speaker 2: That's right. Yeah, I'm trying to make the best of things though, you. 00:22:56 Speaker 8: Know, yeah you are. 00:22:57 Speaker 3: You're a positive guy speaking to positive Yes day, I saw something I'd never seen in my life, Shannon. At Soldier Field, the only soft drink they serve is RC Wow. 00:23:11 Speaker 4: I mean they serve like they serve like doctor Pepper. 00:23:13 Speaker 3: But it's in terms of just like your base cola that doesn't have any flavoring or whatever. It's not coke, it's not pepsi. It's only r C in the fountain and that and I also saw something I didn't know existed, which was r C zero. 00:23:30 Speaker 4: So that's like what I drank yesterday was an RC zero. 00:23:34 Speaker 2: I didn't even know that RC was still a thing my childhood. 00:23:37 Speaker 1: But if I had, like, and I'm not really a big coke drinker, but if I had to rank them, I'd probably go coke RC, then PEPSI. 00:23:45 Speaker 4: I'm just don't disagree with you. 00:23:47 Speaker 3: I don't disagree with you, but have you can you think of any facility right any place on Earth where you can only get an RC? Soldier Field seems like the only place on the plane, it were your only. 00:24:01 Speaker 4: Choice is in RC. 00:24:03 Speaker 5: I'm as Shannon, I didn't even know there was still making RC, so no, I've never seen it. I remember there used to be, like back in the seventies a venue machine for RC cola only, but I haven't seen an RC or anything like that in years. 00:24:15 Speaker 3: When I saw the RC fountain, I was like, well, do they also have tab what else? 00:24:21 Speaker 1: That was exactly why I wanted to ask you, because you know coke has their other related products. What's the related product for rcs? 00:24:27 Speaker 3: So they said to me, someone said that doctor Pepper now owns RC and that that does Bears have a contract with doctor Pepper that includes RC. 00:24:39 Speaker 4: But I thought doctor Pepper was off by Pepsi. But I don't know. Apparently not so either way. Going up to get a. 00:24:48 Speaker 3: Drink and they were like, I said, coke and they go, would you like an RC? 00:24:52 Speaker 4: And I was like, is. 00:24:53 Speaker 3: This nineteen eighty eight? What are you talking about? Would I like an RC? But that's what they had. Wow, I have to tell you, I'm with you shit, and it's better than pepsi. Yeah, it's not coke, but it's actually probably a better than PEPSI. I want to go through the various teams and make fun. 00:25:10 Speaker 4: Of them real quick. Let's start with Louisville. 00:25:14 Speaker 3: Louisville gets the crowd they want after giving the tickets away, like you know, buy a sausage. 00:25:19 Speaker 4: McMuffin and you get a ticket. They did that. 00:25:22 Speaker 3: They ended up with a big crowd, but a complete dud right, complete dud down, down ten nothing to start the game, really never in it except they made a quick run in the second half and then it was over a tough start. To the Pat Kelsey people coming to the game's era. 00:25:40 Speaker 5: It seemed like it was a twenty point game from the minute started and then never got closer, and it just a whole second half was twenty points or more. Yeah, I'll commend the Louisville fans. They did show up, but the team didn't did not. 00:25:55 Speaker 3: And like, here's the thing when you watch them, When you watch them, they're what we are if we didn't have like good players and abilities to do other stuff. 00:26:06 Speaker 4: Like if they're not hitting threes, they're done. 00:26:09 Speaker 3: And Shannon sometimes when I was watching them, they look like that team picture in terms of like better to tell you I'm not. They just look like the team picture. Like they look like like one guy has hair like eminem you know, one guy, like they all have their sort. 00:26:26 Speaker 4: Of unique thing. But if they're not hitting threes. 00:26:29 Speaker 3: And Tennessee crew, he was like, you're gonna have to beat us not hitting threes, they were just done. 00:26:33 Speaker 1: I know he's still got a ways before we get to that Kentucky Loisvill game, but just watching that game, I feel so much better about Kentucky's chances. 00:26:39 Speaker 4: I do. I feel a lot better, and you're right. 00:26:41 Speaker 1: They kind of were like one guy kind of looked like he was playing stoned. One guy was half asleep out there with his eyes closed taking. 00:26:47 Speaker 3: I do feel a little bad for Kelsey because he gets all those people there and then they were never really in it at any point. 00:26:54 Speaker 4: I mean they really weren't. 00:26:55 Speaker 3: They had one time that they kind of closed up and then a dude hit Ziggler by did Ziggler have eleven turnovers? 00:27:02 Speaker 4: I think Zigler had eleven turnovers and they still won. So you give a guy it's like the lines last night. 00:27:09 Speaker 3: You give a guy that many turnovers, you think you'd win, but Louisville was not able to do it. 00:27:14 Speaker 4: Who's up first? 00:27:14 Speaker 2: Let's start with Trent. 00:27:16 Speaker 4: Trent, go ahead, Trent. 00:27:19 Speaker 10: Hey, Matt, I'm a student EKU and a couple of days ago you all were talking about how much fun ek used to be. I just want to say, yeah, I got robbed of what pass Wednesday? 00:27:32 Speaker 4: Is it you did? Now? Let me ask you? Is it fun now? Like living in Richmond? 00:27:39 Speaker 10: Not nearly as much. Most of it'll just go to UK for the weekend. 00:27:42 Speaker 4: See that used to be the opposite. 00:27:44 Speaker 3: I know that's weird for people at Eastern to realize, but it used to be the case. Ryan, I wouldn't make an argument if you were in college. It's a little bit different if you were older. But if you were in college, I would make an argument that there was a time in the nineties Ryan, where Richmond was more fun than Lexington. 00:28:01 Speaker 4: Would you agree with that? 00:28:03 Speaker 5: On Thursday night? And the heck with me in college, I was all molder than you. We were going to Richmond on Thursday nights also to party. 00:28:09 Speaker 4: Wait a minute, you like l e X went to Richmond like Allen, Mary, Joe and Alan. 00:28:15 Speaker 5: Wouldn't make it, but we had a group of people would go down sometimes on a Thursday night. 00:28:18 Speaker 3: Yeah, Nancy Cox, No, Nancy was not in the group. 00:28:24 Speaker 4: We need to know what did you go to whoop pass Wednesdays? Right now? 00:28:29 Speaker 5: No, no Thursdays. We were just down there on Thursday. I didn't even know they had whoop aass Wednesdays? 00:28:34 Speaker 3: All right, So the kid from Eastern, I'm not kidding you about this. Like literally Lexington would pile up and go to Richmond, and Richmond was the place to be. The streets in that little downtown area would be packed with people and then the city of Richmond basically ran everyone off. 00:28:51 Speaker 4: So I'm sorry you missed that. 00:28:55 Speaker 10: Why'd they do it? 00:28:57 Speaker 3: Because there was a lot of trouble came with it. I mean, wouldn't you say rather the whole city ended up like a drunk fest every Thursday night. 00:29:06 Speaker 6: Yeah, there was definitely a movement to clean up the downtown area. 00:29:09 Speaker 3: So if I remember correctly, and I appreciate the call, there was like a city council election where there was a slate of candidates that ran under the clean up Richmond Moniker, and I think they all won, and then they cleaned up Richmond. But there was a time where in Lexington, like Two Keys was like the place in line ofs. But besides that, most people got in their cars and went to Richmond on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Crazy, I know what trancy people did all the time. So who's next? 00:29:44 Speaker 5: Because Richmond had five or six bars together, and as you said, like uk On had two and they were kind of spread out, and. 00:29:49 Speaker 4: They were both kind of spread out. 00:29:50 Speaker 3: Used to be when when I was in college, Two Keys and then Lina's were like the only two big kind of college bars. 00:29:58 Speaker 4: And then Richmond had lot more. Who's next? 00:30:01 Speaker 5: Ed? 00:30:02 Speaker 4: Go ahead? 00:30:03 Speaker 5: Ed? 00:30:05 Speaker 11: Hey, good morning guys. Y'all talking about uh? Y'all talking about smack talkers. I don't know if you'll remember Dale Brown, uh from Mississippi played for UKORE. 00:30:20 Speaker 4: I do you remember him? Yeah? 00:30:21 Speaker 8: I do? 00:30:22 Speaker 4: Was Was he a big trash talker? I didn't remember that he wasn't. 00:30:28 Speaker 11: He wasn't per se a big trash talker. But before every game, and I think this started happening with LSU because of Deal Brown the coach, but he used to he used to confront his opposing guard and ask him, are you ready for this? 00:30:46 Speaker 4: Well? He was a good defender. I mean, that was the guy. 00:30:49 Speaker 11: He was one of the best. 00:30:51 Speaker 4: Yeah, when he got. 00:30:52 Speaker 3: Hurt, I appreciate the call of that game against the Fab five, Ryan, that was when the game changed. He turned his ankle and we were winning in the NCAA Tournament ninety three against the Fab five. I think we were kind of on the precipice of beating him, and he got hurt, and then like all of a sudden, Jalen Rose and a couple of those guys, we just weren't able to stop them. 00:31:13 Speaker 6: It's funny when you were tell that story. 00:31:14 Speaker 5: That's my only memory of Dale Brown is that game and the fact that he got hurt. I didn't know he was a trash talker or anything. 00:31:21 Speaker 3: I didn't remember the trash talking, but he was a locked down defender. And you know, everybody remembers that team for Mashburn and Travis Ford. But I think that that final four game turned when Dale Brown, yeah, got hurt in the second half because Jalen Rose and uh what Jimmy jack We'll see they had. 00:31:41 Speaker 4: Jimmy King King, Jackson, Howard Weber and Rose. Wasn't that that wasn't that the five? 00:31:47 Speaker 3: I think that, And I think I think Dale Brown was guarding Jalen Rose, and I think when he was kind of unable to go, the game sort of changed. 00:31:55 Speaker 4: Who's next? Seth, Seth, go ahead, Seth. 00:32:00 Speaker 12: Good morning, guys. 00:32:01 Speaker 4: There we all doing good. 00:32:05 Speaker 12: So typically I'm a podcast listener, but I got off for Veterans Base. I figured i'd call in. 00:32:11 Speaker 4: I'm glad you said that real quick. Happy Veterans Day to everybody. 00:32:14 Speaker 3: I should have led with that my fault that thank you for everyone for their service, and I hope everyone honors their veterans today. I meant to lead with that, and I don't have my book and I forgot it. So happy Happy Veterans Day. But go ahead. 00:32:30 Speaker 12: But I've been meaning to callin for a few weeks, just haven't had a chance. But I need you guys to settle a dispute between me and my wife. 00:32:39 Speaker 7: Matt. 00:32:39 Speaker 12: She doesn't like you at all. And there was a time. There was a time she liked you, and it was when during the cow stuff because she was she's not a fan of cow, so she was she really agreed with what you said. But we we both you know, leaned opposite of you. Of course in certain stuck the offs. But you made a called me a few weeks ago and she it made her upset. And I'm trying to figure out the best way to bomb that breath. 00:33:10 Speaker 4: So does she not like me? Does she not like me because of politics? Is that what it is? Well? 00:33:17 Speaker 12: She yes, sort of, But it's not because it's not because you're Youleen Left. It's just you made a comment about President Trump and she didn't like it. Now, granted I'm used to the comments. 00:33:29 Speaker 4: That doesn't bother me at all. 00:33:30 Speaker 3: I love you, but what I understand is okay, forget about the comment, whatever it was. I would venture you should tell your wife, this, is there someone in that you like, sir? Just like in life an actor or someone that she doesn't like, Or is there someone in life that she likes that you don't like, or do you too just like the exact same people. 00:33:56 Speaker 12: We don't love everybody equally, I'm sure. 00:33:58 Speaker 3: But okay, you know, so like just because I might disagree with her about, you know, a president or an actor or whatever, I'm sure we would still get along. Like why, I mean, I bet you she'll never meet President Trump. Neither will I. So why should she and I disagree about a person that are not like each other about a person that will never meet? 00:34:24 Speaker 12: Beautifully said sir. Beautifully said, I appreciate. 00:34:27 Speaker 3: It, appreciate the ca. I mean, like, I don't understand that we why do we? You know, there's a lot of folks after the election kind of saying a lot of people don't lose your friendships. And then I have good friends of mine who are like, oh, you can unfriend me if you voted for blah blah blah, Like we're never gonna meet these people. 00:34:48 Speaker 4: Shedding five years you met Bill Clinton, you did. But for four seconds? 00:34:57 Speaker 3: Am I gonna dislike a lifelong friend or someone I enjoyed because of someone I met for four seconds? 00:35:04 Speaker 2: I would hope not? Yeah, I mean course not. 00:35:09 Speaker 4: Just think about this. 00:35:10 Speaker 3: Think about how much people got angry with each other about Obama. 00:35:15 Speaker 4: Do you ever think about Obama now? Ever? 00:35:18 Speaker 7: No? 00:35:18 Speaker 6: Not really? 00:35:20 Speaker 4: Not really? 00:35:21 Speaker 3: So would it be worth losing a friendship over a person you're not gonna think about again? 00:35:26 Speaker 2: No? 00:35:26 Speaker 3: No, exactly in five years or six years, we won't think about Trump anymore. So why would I lose a friend over that? At least that would be my view. For other people, they might disagree. Clayton and Croum was founded on a simple idea all leather goods should last a lifetime. At Clayton and Crew, we went light here, so we'll take a quick break and very back is Kassar. 00:36:08 Speaker 4: Walcome back? 00:36:09 Speaker 3: It is Turkey Sports Radio A five nine two twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven to two seven seven four five two five four. Not surprisingly, Shannon, people have strong thoughts about the friends thing. 00:36:23 Speaker 2: Yeah, potentially on both sides. 00:36:25 Speaker 3: There are people on both sides don't want to be friends. Listen, when you're on your death bed, somebody's gonna be standing there next there, next to you. And I don't think you're gonna care about who they voted for thirty five years ago. 00:36:38 Speaker 6: Amen. 00:36:38 Speaker 4: Yep. 00:36:39 Speaker 2: At least it's just my. 00:36:41 Speaker 9: At least that's just my view, Shannon, What do you think about what happened at Alburt? Right, So they get on the plane, They get on the plane to go to Houston, and two guys get in a fight, and next thing you know. 00:36:53 Speaker 4: They turned the plane around and go back home. 00:36:56 Speaker 3: Now, the audio, the in flight audio of the pilots is great because they're like, ah, there's a scuffle, maybe some blood. We're just gonna turn around. 00:37:08 Speaker 4: You know. I don't know any details. 00:37:10 Speaker 3: Bruce Pearl wouldn't really talk about it, but I would think there has to be it had to be at least a little like it had to be kind of bad for them to turn the plane around, right or am I wrong? 00:37:23 Speaker 2: Absolutely? 00:37:23 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:37:24 Speaker 1: I think they tried to say it was quote horseplay. You don't put a plane on the ground for horseplays. That had to be there had to be like some sort of major physical altercation otherwise you're not going to turn the plane around for that. 00:37:38 Speaker 4: So what are the rules? 00:37:39 Speaker 3: Like, like, is it if I what are the rules where they turn the plane around? 00:37:44 Speaker 4: Ryan? 00:37:45 Speaker 3: Do you know, like how bad does it have to be? Like if people just scream at each other, they don't turn the plane around, Like, what's the what's the turn the plane around rule? 00:37:53 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:37:53 Speaker 5: I think there's any physical altercation, they have to put the plane down. And in that audio from the pilot, you know, he said there's blood and there's some torn clothes and then then Dannie also will say had the police there when we land? 00:38:05 Speaker 3: So like if there's blood, So let's just start with blood. If there's blood, Shannon, it's not horse played. 00:38:13 Speaker 2: All right? There were some punches thrown, Yeah, no doubt about it. 00:38:16 Speaker 3: There had to be punches thrown if there's blood. Now, they left the two guys back in Auburn. 00:38:24 Speaker 4: That's right, just left them. Now they were both reserve players. 00:38:28 Speaker 3: It would be interesting to see Shane if they would have left them if they were good. Yeah, well they were both reserved guys. Then Auburn goes and actually wins the game. Yeah, surprise, actually won after that? Are you surprised, like, so I didn't see the Bruce Pearl say anything about it or is he just like, we're not talking about it and. 00:38:47 Speaker 6: I haven't seen a comment from him anyway of you I just get. 00:38:51 Speaker 3: Away with not saying anything about it. It feels like a pretty big deal. They turned a plane around. 00:38:58 Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it happened with k and they didn't say anything for years till it finally came out about what really happened on that plane. 00:39:04 Speaker 4: But they didn't turn the play around plane around, did they. 00:39:06 Speaker 6: Yeah, they landed in Knoxville. 00:39:09 Speaker 5: I think they were flying from maybe Georgia. 00:39:13 Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what, I never so that was a fight between Gerald Fitch and Corey Sears. 00:39:18 Speaker 5: Right correct, Yeah, but we didn't know for years kind of what it really happened on that flight that time. 00:39:24 Speaker 4: Did you know at the time that they landed the plane in Knoxville? 00:39:27 Speaker 5: Yeah, they knew they landed the plane and they just said it was on the players get into a fight, but we never knew the details or anything. 00:39:34 Speaker 6: It was a fight on the plane. 00:39:36 Speaker 3: So do you think, Shannon, if you find out your team gets in a fight in the. 00:39:40 Speaker 4: Plane but then goes and wins. Okay, what's your what's your reaction? 00:39:45 Speaker 1: They they were so ready to go. They were just fighting each other. They got a lot of fight in them literally, clearly. Yeah, I don't My next question is, what do you think that was over? It had to be over. 00:39:57 Speaker 4: I don't know. 00:39:57 Speaker 3: I will say one of the two guys that got in a fight, there's video online. You should look up of him when Auburn's beaten Vermont by like seventy and other people are shooting and they won't give. 00:40:08 Speaker 4: Him the ball and he's pouting. 00:40:09 Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, go look at the video, Like, there's a video that makes it seem like that dude may not have the best attitude in the world. Holly Way, Auburn might be good. Yeah, they won that game at Houston. They beat Vermont by like one hundred and Vermont went to the tournament last year beat Yale in the tournament. Excuse me no Vermont. You have the audio. Play the audio. 00:40:31 Speaker 8: Yeah, we have got an altercation on board. We talked to the player to Murdercy and land. We got a bunch of basketball players fighting is secure. The flat level is contained for the moment when you've had we're all police on the ground. And when two players that got into the physical qualification closer d and one player and center twenty sixty one, it's kind of crazy. Well we direct mcgallery. 00:40:58 Speaker 2: There you go. 00:40:59 Speaker 4: So yeah, wait, one bloody player and it's kind of crazy. Yeah, close rep. They had to be a real fight. 00:41:07 Speaker 6: That wasn't horse play. 00:41:09 Speaker 2: He's a physical altercation. So whatever that means. 00:41:13 Speaker 4: Auburn basketball is unique this year for sure. Who's next? 00:41:17 Speaker 3: We got just a little bit of time to ja Jake got thirty seconds go ahead. 00:41:23 Speaker 7: That's perfect. I only have one quick question. I know we talk about you need having that guy that to get you know, a quick score and bucket. But the way we play and with the way we run around and can shoot, do we really feel like we need that or is that like a hangover on col I'll hang up and fair point. 00:41:38 Speaker 4: Fair question. 00:41:39 Speaker 3: I still think there are moments you gotta have one guy, go get a bucket. But that maybe I am just conditioned from from cal but I still think that happens. I think there's a moment where they're on an eight oh run and you gotta have a dude to stop it. We'll see though, Well we're gonna learn Tuesday it's a different team completely. We'll take a break, come back, talk a little more about the weekend. It's KSR
