Speaker 1: All right one two wan two to one too one two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight nine ten. Hello everybody, and welcome to the Renee Stubs Tennis podcast. I am in my apartment with my good friend Caitlin Thompson.

00:00:28
Speaker 2: I just had a lot of candy.

00:00:30
Speaker 1: You did have a lot of candy. You stole all of my candy that I was given as a gift by my friend Erica. And it's from Bonbon in New York. And if anyone has ever been to New York and likes candy, it's a Swedish candy store and it has very good candy, or as we call them in Australia, lollies.

00:00:49
Speaker 2: One of the dumber things that I've ever heard. Okay, out of said.

00:00:52
Speaker 1: Okay, but okay, no, no, no, no, you've already started with this. This is how we What is the difference between lollies and candy? What's the difference between those? What is dumb about one of them?

00:01:04
Speaker 2: I'm gonna throw both you guys and England off a cliff here because.

00:01:09
Speaker 1: The Kamath you are born in a Commonwealth country. You're gott to calm the farm.

00:01:13
Speaker 2: I won't.

00:01:14
Speaker 1: I can't.

00:01:16
Speaker 2: First of all, lollipops, which I assume are what Lolli's are a diminutive for I just don't. I don't like the diminutives. I just don't. Every time an Australian person tries to give me a nickname, my cringe. For a while. In my office there was a guy who was Australian called me Tomom.

00:01:31
Speaker 1: I was glad, I don't tell you Tomo. I call you worse to my face.

00:01:37
Speaker 2: So, first of all, diminatives, just generally, I don't love them, second of all, and the British to this too. This is why I'm gonna throw the Brits also under the bus. Here the idea of calling a category of things, which is the meta category is candy one thing. Lolly's not even a good version of the thing.

00:01:57
Speaker 1: No, but we call chocolate chocolate, we don't call it candy. What do you call chocolate candy?

00:02:03
Speaker 2: Chocolate? No, chocolate doesn't go into the category of candy because it's different. Candy is a metatopic. Lolly's referred to specifically lollipops. Similarly, I was talking to someone English, this is before I understood a lot of their words, and she was saying, oh at my wedding, We're gonna have like maybe six or seven puddings. And I was like, holy shit, wow, shocked, you're even gonna have one pudding? Who even likes pudding? Because in America the definition of pudding.

00:02:30
Speaker 1: Is so narrow, So what's a pudding in England?

00:02:33
Speaker 2: In England, it's all dessert. I didn't know that it's stupid because it's stupid, but that's dumb, right, And I was thinking, okay, well, I can only name like three putt like tap yoca pudding. I guess rice pudding maybe like a just a no, there's.

00:02:46
Speaker 1: A trifle pudding. This trifle pudding or.

00:02:50
Speaker 2: Trifle is a specific dessert made majority of pudding.

00:02:56
Speaker 1: Everyone, and welcome to the Reneice ub Senis Podcast. We gotta talk about tennis is not candy? Oh my god? Why do we get on these tangents? You're so weird?

00:03:03
Speaker 2: Okay, well you shouldn't have given any candy or lally.

00:03:06
Speaker 1: Well that's the problem, you know that. Do I need to bring give you a downer? Now? You did bring me over brownies and I was super excited. You're like, I brought you some brownies. I go, really, what's in them? You're chocolate. I was like, unfortunately, Pumpkin, that's all right, Hi, everybody, Well, what a week it's been of a women's tennis.

00:03:24
Speaker 2: What a week it's but of women's tennis.

00:03:26
Speaker 1: Marvels. We women's tennis were great, great, great.

00:03:30
Speaker 2: Great tennis.

00:03:31
Speaker 1: Favorite match.

00:03:35
Speaker 2: Coco Sabolenka. Actually, honestly the final Chin when Coco was the final, third set tiebreak, just wow, that was great, so great, I thought Chin when and Barbara Kujikova's match was quite good, right, Just I'm struggling to think of matches that were not quality. Yeah, the only match that was not quality was Daria Kasakiina filling in the last second for Jesse Pegoula after she totally understandably pulled out. She looked like she had run out of a Yeah, probably the ball had been struck. She was injured fair enough, So Darikina comes into the eleventh hour, I think puts one game on the board was not competitive. But other than that, like literally every single match was predative, interesting and it was really what you wi hope that tournament is, which is eight best bringing their best. And yes, you could argue maybe the eight best didn't make it Kadikova. Obviously winning Wimbledon but not being ranked in the top ten was a little bit controversial, But I think that that's really who's for me?

00:04:28
Speaker 1: Who was the next in? Was it m Emma?

00:04:31
Speaker 2: I think who was Emma?

00:04:31
Speaker 1: And there was sorry Emma doesn't need the money.

00:04:34
Speaker 2: I also think she played.

00:04:35
Speaker 1: So many times just getting Emma, you know, I love you.

00:04:38
Speaker 2: But anyway, lostory short. I feel like everybody who was there played great tennis. Berber Kdikova made it to the Semis and put up a very competitive match, but that final. First of all, I want to say this about the final. Do you want to the final?

00:04:50
Speaker 1: Talk about you want to go to the final, you want to go through the tournament a little bit.

00:04:53
Speaker 2: I don't really want to go through the tournament a little bit, okay, especially because we've talked. We talked a little bit about it last week.

00:04:59
Speaker 1: Don't forget we did, but not really we were halfway through the tournament. Not even.

00:05:03
Speaker 2: The thing that I want to say is I love that the finalists were purple. Coco's new balance fit was the best I've seen her.

00:05:10
Speaker 1: Oh but her stuff is so cursed.

00:05:12
Speaker 2: I was often good, but a lot of times they put her in extremely tight and very revealing clothes, and this one I felt it was quite I mean, she's got an insane physique, so you know, it's not like anything can be unflattering on her. But this one for me just was ten out of ten. And then I really loved chin Win's sort of sass on the podium. I don't know if you saw, but she was given a lot of I'm on Vogue China's cover right now, and it didn't look like she was that pleased to have lost.

00:05:38
Speaker 1: She like pissed, which I like, would you see the handshake? Yeah, Frosty, Oh, you know, she definitely is letting people know she does not care.

00:05:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, she's not.

00:05:49
Speaker 1: She does not care about being friends with anyone. She said in press conferences. I'm not here to bank friends.

00:05:54
Speaker 2: I am.

00:05:54
Speaker 1: They are my essential enemies. They are players that I don't want to be friends with. I have to play them all the time, and I understand that and I respect it. I respect it, but at the same time, well, it's it's becomes pretty tough out there. It's hard out here for a pimp.

00:06:08
Speaker 2: I can imagine it gets a little lonely.

00:06:10
Speaker 1: I mean, it's just hard. I mean to sitting in a you know, locker room, and I know I played out there twenty two years and it's hard when you're out there on your own. I mean, I know she has her friends and you know, people traveling with her and all that sort of stuff, but it's like, let's get lonely, you know, in the locker room. You can't have a bit of a joke.

00:06:29
Speaker 2: I'm here with you know, I'm a chin win right a day. I love her game, but also I don't mind a bit of a villain.

00:06:35
Speaker 1: I know we need it, we need the We're good with it.

00:06:38
Speaker 2: The jorney's good storylines. The women's Tour has had great parody, yeah, for quite a while now, and this final, the entire week which we yes should talk through. For me, the variety, the personalities, the various outfits, everything just really clicked for me. I really liked it.

00:06:54
Speaker 1: I want to reference a couple of things that were said on Twitter as well, like somebody wrote about, oh, you know, Coco tank the match against Kradjikova, so she didn't have to, you know, so Eager couldn't get a back. He can get through to the semi finals. And I'm like, No, that's not how it works. First of all, so Coco says, Okay, I'm going to lose to grid Jikova and then have a possibility of play Krejikova again, or I've already beaten Eager and now if I lose to Grid Jcobar, then I get to play Saba Lenka in the semis.

00:07:28
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:07:29
Speaker 1: No way, that's not what she's thinking. She's thinking, I want to win again. I want to get more money in my pocket because if she had gone undefeated, she would have made even more money. Oh really, yes, if you go undefeated, you get an extra bonus on top of that. Wow, so winning actually does count to your bank account, even though look, we know Coco is going to be set for the rest of your life forever. But but so, and arguably you would say playing against chin when at the time was easier than playing against Saba Lenka, why would you want to play Saballenka. You know, Okay, she lost to Rebekkna, but so what we know how good Rebuccina can be. And finally Rebukkina got a couple of matches under a belt and was playing better, and so I think she set the time we'll get into that about next year. But I think for anyone to suggest that Coco went in there with the dubious sense of I'm going to kick out Eager is just nonsense. There is no way you want to lose a match going into the semifinals, and you don't want to lose a match going into semifinals, arguably playing against the best player on hard court all year in sable Anca. So stop with the nonsense. That is not what happened. She got beat.

00:08:35
Speaker 2: What was that? And she was pissed about losing, and she used it, obviously to motivate her to two fantastic showings in the semis and finals. Yeah, just the idea that somebody could go into a different gear and be like, oh, I've been in top gear this whole time, and now I'm going to shift downward for this one match. So the math works out that I get rid of Eager, they're going to shift back up. Yes, So first of all, it's really hard, yeah, And second of all, why would you want to shift out of anything other than playing your best tennis? That's right, you're in that mentality, you're winning your role and you're feeling good. You don't mess with the success, and so you don't want.

00:09:04
Speaker 1: To lose to anyone because you have to play them again at some point, and you want to be like, oh, yeah, I lost to her last time I played her, and your your opponent's like, oh I beat her in straight sets. So you know, Kujica is going out against Coco next time she plays. It's like last time a player, I beat her in straight sets. So stop with the just people on Twitter, people on that stupid bird site.

00:09:23
Speaker 2: Quit Twitter.

00:09:25
Speaker 1: You know, I wish I could.

00:09:26
Speaker 2: You can you can do anything?

00:09:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, but we promote our stuff on there. It's like I've got like fifty thousand followers on there. Guys, would you go to threads? Would you go to threads? Write me on X and let me know if you'd go to threads.

00:09:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got nothing to say.

00:09:40
Speaker 1: Or what can we make another one? I don't know a couple options. People say, you are right, I wish I could twitter? Did I wish I could twit?

00:09:47
Speaker 2: The tweeter setting as out any political implications. It's just it's it's boring.

00:09:52
Speaker 1: It's so toxic.

00:09:53
Speaker 2: It's so toxic, how predictable and how dorm it is. It's like I don't need to spend any time with this. I don't. I'm I'm this is this is the year of protect.

00:10:00
Speaker 1: Oh my god, you were hoping that there was going to be the other way around. We weren't going to get into that.

00:10:04
Speaker 2: But no, I'm actually saying a positive thing. This is for me the last couple of years. It's like, no, I just got to protect my piece. Nah, like I'm not, you know what, you want to do some dumb stuff, Okay, let them Okay, so listen, let's get back to this. But yeah, I am very curious the people who follow us and interact with us on Twitter, particularly you, because you're getting questionable. Like let's see if we could get a little thing going on threads.

00:10:27
Speaker 1: Yeah or something. Anyway, But listen, youngest winned to win the WTA finals since Serena, she said it was an honor. She put a photo off of her and and just said, what an honor. It's just it's interesting to me that Coco really still just gives so much credit to Venus and Serena, because, you know, without them, it's it's arguably that she would not have played tennis, you know, And so.

00:10:47
Speaker 2: That famous photo of her as a kid behind Venus is amazing Venus and she's got this little baby face in your This is amazing. This is what our thrash Kidesday is for. It's for kids to see in big.

00:10:59
Speaker 1: And if they see they can be it.

00:11:02
Speaker 2: For sure. For me, the Cocoa year that she had late in the season, what a fantastic ending. Truly, I'm really really pleased for her. I'm very excited, and I think this bodes well going into obviously twenty twenty five. It feels like she, as you said before the tournament, if she serves fewer fewer than six double false per match, she's gonna win the tournament. And I was like, Coo, is not gonna win this tournament?

00:11:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, well no, I really truly believed her. Hats after you, thank you, Are you gonna clap.

00:11:30
Speaker 2: Well, that's the sound of one hand clapping.

00:11:33
Speaker 1: I really felt that she was hitting the ball as well as I've ever seen or hit the ball from the back of the court. It's the reason why said if she could keep the double faults to a minimum, she would win the win the tournament. And I said she would beat everybody. She didn't beat everybody. She lost to Gridjikova. But also you have to remember it's really hard. And I know this because when I was coaching carolinea police go over, the same thing happened, where she dominated her first two matches, beat Venus in straight sets, beat fit Of in straight sets, and then had to play Ostapenko in the third match. But she'd already made the finals. She'd already made it through the semifinals, and so it's really hard to know that you've already made it into the semifinals and sort of go out there with the same dogged determination to win a third match in a row to even though you've already made it through the semi robber. So I'm not saying that Coco, and I've already said that there's no chance she tanked that match, and there's no chance she did it on purpose. But there is a difference in knowing that you you will die to win a match to get to the semifinals, right as opposed to I'm already in you know, how much do I want to dig in mentally? Maybe that was on the Maybe maybe she wasn't digging in mentally as much as she had been previously.

00:12:42
Speaker 2: Maybe Krejukova and her back was against the wall. It was a must win. Well that's the opposite, right, a total opposite scenario where she's like, okay, win and you're in and she's went in straight and I'm in and she just really got it done. And also I think Krydukova likes that match up to she struck me as because of her of his hate the groundstrokes for her. Of Coco's balls seem to be sitting up in a really nice stroke zone on that home it.

00:13:07
Speaker 1: Can I mean, I think Jigva struggles a little bit with the ball high above her shoulders, and that's a thing that Coco does better than anyone. And apparently I heard just did another podcast earlier and apparently Wim facet said something after she won her last match but didn't make it through, is that he wants her to play further back in the court on a hard court.

00:13:29
Speaker 2: Wim Faset, who's now coaching Ego, wants to play further back in the court, to play further back because of the ball.

00:13:34
Speaker 1: Hey yeah, no, because of the speed of the court. And it'll give her time now that I mean in a way makes sense, right, gives them more time to see the ball. She can finish on the forehand a little bit more. But the problem with that is the reason why Coco gets away with it. They're playing deep in the court with her forehand grip. The way Eagle's forehand grip is is that Coco's not afraid to throw up a high ball. Coco will throw that ball up in the air because she has the spin and she doesn't have the racket at speed. Very different the way she hits her forehand compared to Eager. Eager swings through her forehand like a windshield wipe up right if you can imagine a windship real fast, whereas Coca comes up and brushes up behind it right so for her when she's rushed on her forehand, rather than try and swing through it, which when she does, she hits her forehand well. When she gets in a bit of trouble or if she's deep in the court with her speed, just like Eagers, she is not. She's not going to try and hit it flat back right. Eager wants to crush it. Still. Coco throws it up in the air and throws the ball way up in the air, which is really hard to attack unless you come into the net, which no girl's coming in on that. I mean, I would say as a ranker at her very best would come in and swing that out of their swing. But that is really hard to do, right, so they let it bounce and then boom. Of course, of her speed, Coca gets back into the point right eagers, I don't think has that shot now. If he's going to make her play back that deep, he better develop her heating that high ball up to get back into the point. So we'll see if if he wants her to play on a fast court throwing in high balls and using your speed like Coco does, and then turning the offense into a defense into offense, we'll see. We'll see if that works. It'll be interesting.

00:15:09
Speaker 2: I think that's a really insightful and interesting way for those of us who are not experts at the game, who are watching more casually at home, to sort of understand how we too can adjust tactics, like yes, okay, look, she's added a new shot. Essentially, she's created essentially a defensive.

00:15:26
Speaker 1: It's a defensive weapon and has talked about it heck a bit. She said she plays against Coco and the thing that she found really hard is that Coco hits the shit out of her backhand flat, hard, unbelievably accurate, and her forehand she hits with spin and high. And so you're getting one ball that's way above your shoulders and then the other one that's down near your kneecaps right, and one's coming one hundred miles an hour, the other one's coming at eighty. It's very different. It's like facing a picture. So you're constantly having to play up, play back, come in, not come in, Oh god. And then not only that, Coco doesn't it's not missing. Her forehand was so good during this tournament. And of course what I said was the most important thing was for serving. She hit on average like two or three or four, maybe five double faults in the match. On average, she hit eleven against Eager. Two in the first set, nine in the second set. And that's where Eager had a chance. Because Eager got up a break, she got broken, Eager got up another break because of the double faults, got broken again. So that was on Eager to not hold serve, and she did not serve well enough, and she did not take advantage of the crack that Coco gave her from that second set by hitting nine double faults, which is an enormous amount in one set, So she was a virtually eager was virtually given two games on serve right on break to break and then just handed it back. So I don't know whether that's eager not playing well enough in those moments, that's not eager serving well enough, not being you know, a great whatever it was. She didn't capitalize on Cocoa's cracking on serve and that was a difference. And then and then once she had an opportunity. I'll give cook her a lot of credit when it got back to even like four all, and second that she said great and that's what won in the match. So her digging date and not panicking when she started double folding, and also EGA just giving her that room to get back into the match.

00:17:16
Speaker 2: And I will say that match did to me feature still some of the EGA that comes out when she gets tight, which is panicking. She started panicking, then you saw some shanks and you saw some gifts in the middle of the net, just kind of like, oh, that's something I want to not see more. Also because it's triggering. It's like too relatable for my own junior when you're panicking and you're like, oh God, like I just I'm gonna rush now, and I'm gonna well also, you know, condense my strokes, and like everything that you shouldn't do starts becoming the thing that your body is doing, whether you want it to do or not, and it's hard to watch. So for me, I hope, just I hope that that's something that wimp said. I mean, granted you just started working together, but I do hope that that's the panic button, is something that goes back behind that safe you know, clear plast stick bucks that protects it so nobody goes into panic mode because you just stay calm.

00:18:04
Speaker 1: Yeah. I think one of the things also to recognize, and this is when Coco won through you know, the hard court season and last year and won the US Open. She wasn't missing her forehand, right, Was she doing a ton of damage on it? No, it's not like Coco can step up to the baseline go whack with a fourhand on the line like a sabal Anca or Rebekina or you know, even Kadjikova and even Paulini and Jessica Bagula, Jesse. It was shape on her forehand. So I think The thing is, she's like a modern day and I said this today on another pod. She's like a modern day a rancher Sanchez for Curry. If you remember the way a rancher played, and this is for us older folks, a rancher when she was at her best and she was playing against someone like Steffi, who was her biggest emesis, Steffie would always be a rancher. But there were times that she had wins against Steffie. And that's when Steffie we got a little bit tight because a rancher wasn't missing her forehand, because a rancher had a much weaker foehand. And arguably Coco serve is much better, obviously, and getting three points on a serve, but Coco's backhand is so good. A ranch's backhand so good, right, A rancher had a beautiful slice backhand. She could play defense like nobody's business. A rancher come into the net, willing to come forward, all the things. It's kind of like a modern day a rancher when the forehand was not making errors. Where do you get the point? Where do you win the point? Right? And that's how Coco is when she's not missing her forehand or not putting it. In short, she wasn't doing in this tournament, and she wasn't giving you free double faults and giving you twenty points a match. Where's the weakness. Yeah, it's not there. So I think this bodes so well for her in the future. But she must continue to work on that second serve. If there's one area, if she gets that under control emotionally and you know, with her technique, and that'll be the that would be the off season work that I would do with her. My god, like six months ago, I would not have said this. She's gonna win a lot of Grand Slams if she can continue with that style of not missing the forehand, putting it into difficult situations, using the high ball, and not missing her second serve.

00:20:12
Speaker 2: Well, this has to be on hardcourt. Just such a triumph too.

00:20:17
Speaker 1: She just needs to find on hard court just playing.

00:20:19
Speaker 2: The people that she's plead in this tournament and showing the level that she showed to me. This is a this I feel much more bullish on her than I did after she won the Open.

00:20:28
Speaker 1: Oh me too, I agree, and I think for me, well, actually I feel the same about her now. As I did after the US Open, because she wasn't doing the double faults. Yeah, and she wasn't missing the forehand through that period in the hard court season, and then all of a sudden pressure got on her and she started to sort of But this is where technique is very important, particular on the serve when she gets nervous. Playing outdoors is a lot different playing indoors. Okay, if she's double folding indoors, that is a major, major, major problem.

00:20:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay.

00:20:59
Speaker 1: Now the variable come in the wind? Is the wind behind your back? Is it pushing the ball forward too much on the toss? Is it the sun? Can she vary this very that, Like, you've got to be able to adjust outdoors, that will be a question mark. Still, if she gets out under control, good luck. And I'm super pumped because we've got chin Win, we got sabal Anka, We've got Eager, We've got her those four Yeah.

00:21:23
Speaker 2: And then a really fun sort of secondary cast of characters, Paolini, You've got Danielle Collins who come, don't forget one, Indian World, Miami and Charleston. And before she shut her season down with injury, decided, Oops, I'm not retiring again, you're not rid of me yet. So for me, the the just personalities in the variety of style on the on the WTA Tour continues to be really great, which actually I feel really excited about because I think not to fast forward to the men because I do want I have a chin one question for you. But I feel like now I'm excited about the men, like this is for me, they're coming into another kind of golden age where and maybe it's a little bit of the Big Three being this is being the first atp Tour finals without any one of them, I know, which is crazy, but we'll get to that in a second. So for me, Chin win up five to three in the third. She had a great tournament.

00:22:25
Speaker 1: I mean, if you followed me on ex Twitter, you would have seen what I predicted, which was what So first of all, when you when you're up already a set and to love, which Chin win was right, and a break two love serving, well, two loves she had a break, but two loves serving and it was a game that Coco won and broke surf. And when she broke that game and went to two to one, I was like, oh, this is going to be a completely different match. Now because Coco said come on out loud when she on that game, and you know how I feel about this, and this is what I said about Rafa when he won that epic five set match against Medvedev. I was like, oh, look at this poor little guy. He's down two sets of love and he just said Varmus down love forty. That's just my story because he was letting everyone know, hey, I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. And guess who else was like, oh, he's not going anywhere is his opponent? That's right, So chin Win's down the other end. This is outside of winning the Gold, the biggest match of her career, and all of a sudden, Coco's like, come on, and she's egging the crowd on, like let's go get in right, and you, as a player, when you're out there, you go, oh shit, I just let go of a massive opportunity to go up a set and three love now, which is still one. I don't know long way to go, but to go all of a sudden, two won back on serve and things changed dramatically. Right then, Coco struggled serving out the set, loses a game at five to three chin when you think, okay, maybe can goes into the third set. So there's already vulnerability there from chin Win for me to go. She couldn't close out the match then, and when you can't close out the match in two sets, what's to say it's not going to be just as difficult in the third set, right, So when I got to five to three, I said, on I put it out on Twitter and I said, it's a long way to go here, kids, believe me. I don't know exactly the verbate like verbatim, but I was like, long way to go here. And then it got to five to four and I said, this is going to a third set type break, yep, and it did. And then when I got to a third set type break, I said, Coco will now win. And the reason why Coco had two match points at six' five on Chin win surf and Chin win played two incredible, points great serve out, wide huge winner, again another great, serf another huge winner in that. Game, now as an opponent as Your, coco you're, like first of, All i'm really lucky to still be in this. Match potentially should have been out in two, Sets potentially should have lost six to, three in a third and then you get two match points and a lot of people are, like oh my, god now she's going to feel like she should have won the. Match but the difference was is that she lost those two match points playing. Well she was. Outplayed, yeah so Went this is where you as a, player as a tennis, player go heyte two. Good now IF i hit a bottom IF i hit a ball in the bottom of the net and THEN i choked the next, Point Now i'm, like oh my. God NOW i as a commentator and a person watching and would, go oh, yeah kind of like what happened To tin win at five? Three she stopped hitting the big, ball she stopped going for, it she started playing complacently and very, passively and all of a, sudden you look down the other, end and if you're an observant, player Which COCO i believe, is, goes, oh she's. Tight and as a, champion which she, is as A Grand slam champion and a player that's won a lot of, matches you sense. That SO i Think coco was, like, oh she's not going to hit me off the court to win the. Match so now what DO i? DO i lock? IN i lock in and make her beat, me just Like rafa did at five all in the fifth set at The Strain. Open, OKAY i choked that. Game now you have to beat me Because i'm not going to give. Up And, COCO i could see in her eye she was, like Oh chin when got? Tight, YEAH i know she hasn't closed me out in Two she didn't close me out. There IF i hang around long enough and play MY a grade, TENNIS i will win this. Match and even losing those two match, points as soon as the tie break, STARTED i knew That coco went into that tie break still feeling good about her tennis wass chin WHEN i wasn't sure she could close it. Out and that's what.

00:26:30
Speaker 2: Happened and you could tell you what's your takeaway for her from this? Tournament?

00:26:34
Speaker 1: GOOD i think she's playing.

00:26:35
Speaker 2: GROSS i like that she was.

00:26:36
Speaker 1: PASSED i, well. LISTEN i think she's a player that's going to always be not a bad, loser that's not the right, word but a player that's always going to feel a sting when she. Loses And sabalanka is a great, loser but she feels a. Sting but they respond very, Differently And sabalanka has talked about she was a bad loser and blah blah, blah and she took it too. Much and Maybe chin when will get, there she won't be as like cranky after she, loses you, know coming from, ME i was a terrible, Loser So i'm not he who custs the first time kind of. Thing but or. She BUT i think her tennis and her. MOVEMENT i think her movement has. IMPROVED i think her end range shots have gotten.

00:27:17
Speaker 2: Better, yes on the, run she's able to, generate especially the back end, offense especially if the back, end which is amazing because that two. Hands you sometimes don't see, that especially on the women's. Side for, ME i JUST i love the way she plays tennas. LIKE i love how explosive she. IS i LOVE i don't mind the hitch in the. SRUB i love the fact that she's coming. IN i love her. ATHLETICISM i, mean.

00:27:36
Speaker 1: She can get much better than.

00:27:37
Speaker 2: That she can't get.

00:27:38
Speaker 1: Much she missed some really important vollies in this. Match her technique was pretty. Terrible Pair, reba give me a. Call BUT i thought that overall her tennis has improved so much in the even since The Austrain, Open like she's a way better player.

00:27:52
Speaker 2: Than and that's kind of the POINT i was going to ask you, about like for, me just seeing how well she has competed and for me what this year has been. About, obviously getting a gold medal is, incredible but not super always, Indicative like we've had some pretty, random you, Know olympic performances through the past years on both, sides men and. Women so for, me it's more just, Like, okay where did she start in the finals of The Australian, open which was not a bad place to start the, year but lost pretty, badly and THEN i think slowly closed.

00:28:22
Speaker 1: Also the first real big matches for, Sure but ALSO.

00:28:25
Speaker 2: I guess the only Point i'm saying IS i think where she started the year and where she ended of the, year she closed a pretty big gap between herself and the very elite. PLAYERS i still think she's a step below and, norms BUT i like very much that she's competing and sort of taking it a little bit more than just kind of getting hit, around which is is you, KNOW i think where she was at the beginning of the, YEAR.

00:28:46
Speaker 1: I THINK'ST i don't think she's a step below, THEM i think she's half a step below. THEM i think she's improved so much in the last three four months her end Rained AS i, said her End ryane shots are so much better BECAUSE i thought she got attacked big time on the back end like she because the way she her back and she's a bit a bit risty on her backhand as opposed to sort of Like, coco the way she hits her backhand d it's less, shoulder a little bit too. Handsy it's, handy a little bit like Ash, buddy Like Sam, stoza like those back ends a little bit. Slappy SO i think that that is a shot that can get a bit, better and that comes with, strength and it comes with getting, faster and which is she's absolutely improved her. MOVEMENT i think she can get much better at than. Net her surf can be even. Better SO i think there's a lot of. Upside the interesting thing is that Her cocoa And eager have such heavy, top spinny forehandsy Western, yeah and that is such an advantage in women's tennis because women do not not men, either but particularly women do not like the ball above their. Shoulders they're not as strong as the men above the. Shoulders they like the ball around hip, level which is why they all hit the ball so flat and hard and. Good but when you get the ball above someone's, shoulders now you've got a that's not. Easy and when you're eating all, flat that's the worst. Shot Whereas coco actually likes her ball because the, spin the top spin is, good but because of her, speed she can get out there and she can spin it back. Right So eager on, clay it's that's why Chen wyn Gives eager some trouble on, clay which is why she beat her at The, olympics because that spin That eager usually puts on people and jumps away from, them she likes. That she actually likes it better up high Like coco as opposed to down low around the knee level, like which is Why pergola usually has a Great rekcoud Against coco because the balls like around her knees as opposed to her. Shoulders so there's so many variables in, tennis and matchups are really. Important BUT i love the fact that these three are coming with These western grips and their kids are going to watch this and, go that's HOW i want to hit my forehand, now because it's very rare shot to see with a lot of top.

00:30:58
Speaker 2: Spin i'm shucked this the moment that you're coming out in support Of western foehand.

00:31:02
Speaker 1: Grips, LISTEN i haven't been the never a lot of my life western forehand grip, Abuse, no, No but there's a difference between A western grip and a Real western, grip like Far, OVER i would never teach cocos forehand, never, ever, ever, ever Ever eager's. FOREHAND i prefer An ash party for hand, grip where she is a semi which is a Semi western with a. Finner you can bull whip the, finish you get the. Spin, Still sam's forehand was More western Than. ASHES i would be in between those. TWO i would absolutely not teach cocos Forehand.

00:31:49
Speaker 2: Group way three in the. World who's the Most?

00:31:51
Speaker 1: Western Coco, coco Then, eager Then, eager and THEN i Think gin wins about Where eager, is but cheats a little bit. Differently so there's also how you finish on it as. Well do you get through the ball or do you do windscreen. Wiper there's all different ways of doing it. Well Like Sam stows is a perfect exam when she was on finishing through her forehand good. Luck but those. FOURHANDS i think we're going to see more and more of them on the women's. Tour but it's a little bit harder with the women because they're not quite as strong as as a. Boy so a girl's not quite as, strong so that she tends to hit it a little bit. Flatter BUT i, think if there's a good coach out, there you, know get, this get the semi western and, really you, know get them working that buggy whip forehand because it is such an. Advantage and WHEN i stand.

00:32:35
Speaker 2: Us i'm excited for next year based on this incredible. FORUMCE i can't think of a, player, TRULY i cannot think of one player who was at THE w two. FINALS i can think of a player who gotten done dirty by that, portrait which, is oh my. GOD i want To Jasmine. Paolini they put you on a folding? Chair what the?

00:32:54
Speaker 1: Fuck?

00:32:55
Speaker 2: Like who You plini want to? Go and she went to TWO sam. Finals if anybody's going to be on the folding, chair put the trophy on the folding, chair put a. Trophy BUT i want to say very, CAREFULLY i really liked the photo shoot. Itself if you looked at a lot of the different photos they took a really interesting sort of, angle the tone of, it the, angle the sort of depth of. Field And i'm calling this out BECAUSE i don't want to be a, hater BECAUSE i think the idea of the you, know this period of our, lives but also just like, okay let them do whatever they. WANT i just want to, say, hey, guys you came so, close like, great you picked a great location for the. Shoot everyone looked. Great everyone's outfits looked. Amazing chin went and stole the. SHOW i mean right in the middle in that red like she really crushed. It Jess pogula second place looked. GREAT i Mean cocoa also. Great everybody looked. Great, yeah a little more depth of. Field if you look at their individual portraits where you see some of the Like Middle eastern architectural, features it's, like, oh this is. Interesting it looks. Different and then they put them all in front of this wall that could have just been a bland. Studio if you didn't know that they were shooting someplace, spectacular you would just, think, oh they're in a dumb indoor studio with like a paper behind. Them OH i thought it Was, no it's at a beautiful Like Unesco World, heritage get out of, here which is why it was so, frustrating BECAUSE i was, like you guys.

00:34:05
Speaker 1: Picked the right. Spot oh my, god.

00:34:08
Speaker 2: You failed on a few really small things that ended up being really. Dumb and so somebody AND.

00:34:13
Speaker 1: I trust you being The racket, magazine which is so beautifully shot and all that sort of, stuff and it was funny because you're the one that sent me the photo AND i was just, like, ah. Whatever and then she was like the folding, chair AND i was, like oh my, god you're. Right what do they put?

00:34:28
Speaker 2: Chair they had two little, cities two little stools, essentially and they Gave Jess bagoula one and they put the trophy on the, other and then they ran out of, them obviously because somebody was just, like, oh let's get just your folding.

00:34:40
Speaker 1: Chair it's like when you come over to my apartment here AND i have a little outdoor, space YES i do In New York. CITY i am, fancy and it's not quite enough, chairs And i'll go down to the garbage, area Which i've done in a couple of times. Recently and because my Neighbors jeremy And, marty their chairs keep, breaking and SO i keep finding chairs down in the, garbage AND i keep bringing up for the guys, Sloky that's what it was. Like it's, like, hey, guys party.

00:35:03
Speaker 2: And someone gets the mismatched dinner. Setting you're, like, hey are, bad sorry we only have eight and you're, Yes but in this, case it's like nobody thought of, this like.

00:35:12
Speaker 1: Or just we know how many players were going and it's the top.

00:35:15
Speaker 2: Eight, ANYWAY i want to lose this tangent it. WAS i want to use this tangent to introduce the, men which their photo shoot is the most important topic on my mind at the, moment which, is, uh they took a picture which looks very, beautiful and again from the general the general aesthetic is. Fine. Uh everyone wore like kind of khaki double breasted suits and it looks.

00:35:43
Speaker 1: Like the debate didn't have a double Breasted taylor. Disappointed taylor did.

00:35:47
Speaker 2: NOT i think sponde By.

00:35:50
Speaker 1: Boss, like come, on, dude what where is the Beautiful.

00:35:54
Speaker 2: He should have been wearing a silk two, thousand you, know and he's wearing.

00:35:58
Speaker 1: You feel About? TAYLOR i, like BUT i think he's very, handsome are you? KIDDING i think maybe it was somebody.

00:36:06
Speaker 2: Else we were just watching him play medventive AND i was, THINKING i get.

00:36:08
Speaker 1: It, yeah he's incredibly, handsome and he. Did he looks great in those Bust actually he did that like uh that that like model fashion. SHOES i was, like, DAMN i wrote him AND i was, like, damn you have a second. Career. Bro yeah he looked like.

00:36:22
Speaker 2: No, no, No i'm here For.

00:36:22
Speaker 1: Taylor he looked like he looked like a guy that was just like had no idea about. Fashion AND i know more his girlfriend she knows what's. Up i'm surprised she let him out the door looking like.

00:36:33
Speaker 2: That that, SAID i don't know that he looked worse Than Casper, rude who looked hippie in his double breasted suit in the front at least to fit. Him it didn't fit. Him, Again, taylor it's. Unflattering it looks like he has it's A David beckham. Look David beckham can pull it off because He's. Beckham no, booty because none of those soccer players. Are he has no booty at the. Bottom are you?

00:36:54
Speaker 1: Sure i'm not, positive but guys does Not David beckham.

00:37:01
Speaker 2: As good As David beckham. Does David beckham has that sacer body where it's Like Rangey casper has a little junk in the. Trunk i'm just, saying maybe a double breast is not the. Move the sum total is they look like. Terrible they look like a high school debate team that showed up at the state.

00:37:14
Speaker 1: Capitol, yeah the lacrosse.

00:37:18
Speaker 2: Team you're, like, hey, guys are your guys all waiting in line to shake your local lawmaker's?

00:37:21
Speaker 1: Hand oh my, god it's not.

00:37:23
Speaker 2: The look they're going for.

00:37:24
Speaker 1: It let's talk about the only singles match that we've seen at THE atp To Ren finn and, yes of Course sinner is the. Favorite DO i think he's going to be affected by? It, NO i think he's going to love being loved out there and getting a lot of support into. RENT i think he's the. Favorite i'm coming right now. WINNING i don't know how fast the cord. Is it's if it's really. Fast taylor has a really good, Chot so let's get to. That so let's get to the meltdown today Of.

00:37:50
Speaker 2: Medvede so there's been one match at THE atp in, singles and it was a. Doozy it was a. Doozy medvedev goes out To Taylor. Fritz it looked like the first set in the half was, competitive sort of. Competitive and then Obviously, medvedev god is very. Unlucky he's wont To but before that he had broken his racket three double. Faults he went off the, rails as it sometimes says With, medvedev which is WHY i love him so. Much, yeah he's A russian.

00:38:18
Speaker 1: Tragedy he's a box of, chocolates is what he. Is of, course breakpoint at, two three thirty, forty big. Point but also we all will we often see breakpoints and the, boof it's gone and it's three.

00:38:30
Speaker 2: Off great, serve great comes in on a great.

00:38:33
Speaker 1: Shot taylor's In, deadsville hits a. Fourhand he's you, know.

00:38:37
Speaker 2: Shanks it, fourhand has not hit a single.

00:38:39
Speaker 1: String shanks it a perfect lob over the top Of medvedev's head lands, IN i, mean the unluckiest way to lose a point.

00:38:48
Speaker 2: Ever but instead of just and you, Know taylor holds up his. Hands he's, like oh, sorry.

00:38:53
Speaker 1: Yeah but it's a set and for two down To, Taylor, fritz he's you done.

00:38:57
Speaker 2: Well he certainly was. Done there was no vomus.

00:39:00
Speaker 1: Was a total mental. BREAKDOWN i, MEAN i.

00:39:02
Speaker 2: Think it was three games worth of just.

00:39:04
Speaker 1: Two and a half. Games he came, back did?

00:39:06
Speaker 2: He he sort of recovered to hold the serve yet. Again two broken, rackets one broken, microphone one broken. Microphone at one point he had an Extended, no he didn't break his second.

00:39:14
Speaker 1: Racket he kept throwing it in the air and pretending to catch, it and then and.

00:39:18
Speaker 2: Then pretending that he was unable to catch.

00:39:20
Speaker 1: It he looked at the, like, oh slippery. Hands oh, sorry, sorry, sorry BUT i mean WHICH i.

00:39:25
Speaker 2: GOT i appreciated the extended bit Of i'm trying to catch my, racket But i'm not trying and everyone knows, it But i'm gonna feign THAT i loved.

00:39:33
Speaker 1: It we might get a lot of like interesting takes on, this BUT i don't know, who BUT i hear laughing my ass, off does anybody Just the commentators were, like, oh this is some terrible sports. Ship, no they were, saying it's just not dis, respect Disrespect Tailor.

00:39:48
Speaker 2: Fritz it's.

00:39:49
Speaker 1: Disrespect If I'm Taylor, FRITZ i am so fucking happy down And i'm probably entertained with my opponent holding his racket the wrong way around to turn.

00:39:59
Speaker 2: Serve he's putting the handle out to return to the. BALL i do think we need to Because i've been a bit of a scold in the past When i've used players as having a bad sporting. Attitude AND i want to differentiate between when a person is exhibiting bad sportsmanship towards their, opponent towards the, crowd towards the, umpire and when an opponent is just having their own personal meltdown that is contained within their personal space and their personal body and their personal, psyche which is amazing and that we should never get rid. Of he's not harming anybody but.

00:40:32
Speaker 1: Himself, YEAH i, mean, listen if he throws his reck and he goes in the, crowd don ski.

00:40:36
Speaker 2: And the second he hurts, Somebody, yes of course he's gonna get fined for breaking that? Microphone should? He some poor balkin had to go and pick up the pieces of WHAT i assume as a very expensive piece of. Equipment he's paying for, that and he, can and it's not. Great i'm not condoning breaking, shit BUT i am, saying, like this guy wants to do an extended bit where he riffs off and like takes his point penalties and gifts you know games and. Ships, yeah, easy let him.

00:40:59
Speaker 1: Listen i've done. IT i have a very, memorable maybe not so memorable moment in my.

00:41:06
Speaker 2: Career memorable you blacked.

00:41:08
Speaker 1: Out, No it was a moment WHERE i ran back for a ball at THE Wta finals In la at The Staples, center and the ball went over my. HEAD i was running down a lob AND i was trying to get it AND i was one of my best, shots was actually running back and being able to hit a ball from behind me and flick it back. Up you know people do the. TWEENER i just would flick it. Up in the, END i could hit. THAT i would tell my partners a reverse, overhead a reverse, overhead AND i would say to my, partners or even just a, lob, right just a reverse. LOB i would say to my, partners, LISTEN i KNOW i look might look Like i'm in, trouble but trust, Me i'm going to get this. Back And i'm going to get it back deep in the, court whether it was on my backhand or on my, forehand and, Anyway So i'm running it down AND i ran out of room basically because of the, court, Right, so AND i put my foot through the back of. That you, know the sign was so mad because it was in my way AND i broke that. Thing it's not proud of, it so they would have had to replace.

00:42:06
Speaker 2: That they, find of COURSE i.

00:42:08
Speaker 1: DID i got a, warning or MAYBE i didn't get a warning BECAUSE i SAID i ran into the, thing WHICH i kind of sort of. Did THEN i kind, of you, know went a little bit, extra kind of Like medvedev day to catch the racket every time he threw it in the.

00:42:21
Speaker 2: Air So i'll say this. Too the way That medvedev spirals is new every. Time, yeah it.

00:42:27
Speaker 1: Is it's. True that is. True we haven't seen that.

00:42:29
Speaker 2: Before, no he calls people small, cats he gives, lectures he Speaks. FRENCH i don't know he's until he's harming other. People I'M. Ok and If I'm Taylor fritz And i'm looking very fit and very good in his and he got rid of his blonde can look the blonde. Thing his job was beach maybe for that, week but now he's. BACK i just want to, say If i'm The, Fritz i'm, like, yeah, cool let him let them let him. Go he's freaking. OUT i don't, know like this is benefiting. Me get another game.

00:42:57
Speaker 1: POINT i don't. Know taylor is not the type of bee Like he's just, like oh, Yeah i'm just going to serve an. Ace he looks, great and he looks incredibly. Fit, Yeah i've ever seen he's running balls. Down he is like his confidence is sky. High DO i think he can win A Grand? Slam, yes come, on of, COURSE i do believe that he can win A Grand. Slam BUT i do believe, this AND i have actually spoken to him about. This he's got to improve his, volleys just even if it's, twenty if you can get it, better, YES i will give him a lot of credit because what did he do? Today because he knew that he was winning that match match, point and he made the. Volley it was ugly as, hell it was beautiful as a. Point but come, on, MAN i know that you can do. It and if he can come into the, net AND i know he's allergic to, it but if he wants to Beat sinner and if he wants to Beat, alcaaz because those are the two guys that he's basically going to have to beat to win A Grand. Slam going, forward he must implement a very, basic easy put Away volly.

00:43:58
Speaker 2: Well that match point hopefully was a good. Instruction open up the, court, open open, court valley, Winner, yeah cross. Court that's. It he doesn't have, to you, know pick up balls out the, half bounce off the shoelaces Like becker or. Anything just some competent going. In but also he's so, big his service so, big and a lot of these guys sound so far. BACK i actually think this is like a totally Viable you have to be able to come in to do that in a way that's, exciting and he has a lot OF i think room to improve in just generally taking away the.

00:44:25
Speaker 1: Net you have to come into the. Net you have to be able to finish off a. Point these guys move too, well The alcarazes And sinners of the world move too. Well you.

00:44:33
Speaker 2: Can't they get you all.

00:44:34
Speaker 1: Back they neutralized and they'll come in and they come.

00:44:37
Speaker 2: In that's exactly you have to take the initiative After.

00:44:39
Speaker 1: As And sinner come into the, net they finish off. Points AND i, said the next great tennis player on men's on the men's tour must have a Differentiated they must come. In alcaraz has implemented the fourhand drop, shot but he comes into the. Net sinner has improved his net. Play it's why he wins matches. Now he finishes off that big fourhand and comes. In That's Darren cahill like getting him to finish points. There taylor must be able to come into the net and finish off points at the. Net and if he can do that and implement just a ten to fifteen percent swing in coming, forward he will win a Potential Grand. Slam till he does, that he will.

00:45:11
Speaker 2: NOT i THINK i want you after this podcast is over to text him and, say when you have, time give me a.

00:45:18
Speaker 1: Ring Paul anakin is apparently one of his, Coaches Paul. Anakhin all he did was.

00:45:22
Speaker 2: Servant i'm also talking about the, valleys but also the single breasted.

00:45:26
Speaker 1: Blazer oh, yeah we can, talk.

00:45:28
Speaker 2: We can get.

00:45:28
Speaker 1: Well moggs needs to be on. That i'm surprised she let him get away with. That, Morgs i'm.

00:45:32
Speaker 2: Disappointed maybe it was a packing. Error whatever it, Is i'm excited he's playing. Well i'm rooting for, him And i'm excited for this. Week i'm going to end on this. NOTE i have two amazing projects that are going on right, now AND i have a movie. Recommendation that's, so, so so so.

00:45:45
Speaker 1: Good martha On netflix was, great. Y'all, What, yeah, Well Martha stuart documentary talk about a. Badass, yeah She's i'm obsessed with.

00:45:58
Speaker 2: She's She.

00:46:01
Speaker 1: The fact that she went away to prison for six months for forty five thousand dollars when she was at the time a billionaire is. Outrageous and you know what she did in, There she bloody made people's. Lives she planted, gardens she made jobs for. People she was. Awesome it's such a good. 00:47:08
Speaker 1: From a man to a. Woman uh, huh oh my, god that's so.

00:47:10
Speaker 2: Good it's. Nuts and also It's french.

00:47:14
Speaker 1: Somehow oh, geez now you're making me.

00:47:16
Speaker 2: Worse not In, french but it's. Great it was by A french director Of Sean.

00:47:20
Speaker 1: Fred, guys, Guys i'm giving you a morning Weird, okay so just go into. It if you're, weird it is, your it is your. JAM i will watch it just because you said, so AND i wanted to get back to you guys next week about WHAT i thought.

00:47:34
Speaker 2: About i'll watch Mart martha and you watch it With.

00:47:36
Speaker 1: CLAIRE i Think claire will love it.

00:47:39
Speaker 2: More claire will love. It the tennis has been amazing to finish the. Year some of the. COMMENTARY i have a lot to say about.

00:47:47
Speaker 1: It we were talking about you, here talking about, it not.

00:47:49
Speaker 2: Me instead of naming names and talking about stuff that we don't, LIKE i THOUGHT i would ask you since you're widely regarded and in my, consideration one of the best commentators working today about a.

00:48:01
Speaker 1: Lot you wouldn't say that because you like to hate on.

00:48:05
Speaker 2: ME i don't like to hate on, you but you, honest you, know SO i will say, truly WHAT i like about your commentary is it's. Insightful there's technical. Elements you don't talk too. Much that's not always something that other commentators adhere. To so instead of hating on anybody or kicking anybody, publicly let's INSTEAD i want to ask, you what are things that you think good commentators? Do and if you're coaching somebody who wanted to get into, it what would your sort of like rules of thumb.

00:48:34
Speaker 1: Be, well SOMETIMES i talk too much AND i will take. IT i will take advice from. PEOPLE i do get, people you, know hating on me On twitter about, that and and it's. Hard sometimes you, know you want, information you want. It you see, stuff and you know, ME i like to critique AND i like TO i like to, inform, Right so sometimes you got to a little less is a little less is. More So i'm learning that through the. YEARS i have a great executive producer THAT i work with. Now his Name's mike, McQuaid and he's given me some really, great valuable. Information and one of the things that he always tells me is always tell me the why, renee so you, know you can make a comment, like, oh that was such a great. Shot that was in a difficult shot for eager to hit whie, Right so it is. Difficult twenty seconds is not a lot of time to be able to get information out in between. Points and as they, said you don't want to. Talk you absolutely should never talk when a point is in. Play And i'm very cognizant of. THAT i do not do. That and people say THAT i do, LIE i do.

00:49:29
Speaker 2: NOT i maybe they could be confusing you with many others because the amount of offenders on this point is. Prolific, YEAH i hate of mine and people are talking to the. Point the only SOUNDS i want my commentators to, make if, any are just gasps because it's so exciting while we're watching that they cannot help. It. Yeah, otherwise absolutely no.

00:49:50
Speaker 1: Talking, yeah no talking over. Points that really bothers. Me and one of the things THAT i like to, do and if you listen to my, commentary is when there is a great point and or the crowd is clapping and is very. EXCITED i try not to talk. IMMEDIATELY i like to hear the, crowd so When i'm hearing it in my, HEADPHONES i like. That people like that as, Well SO i try and then talk once it slowly. Dissipates then tell the people WHAT i just, saw or what to, anticipate or what's. Happening SO i try not to talk over the. Crowd real crowd, noise particularly at THE Us, open because THE Us open is so loud and the crowd is so loud that even when you're, commentating And i've said this to some of my fellow, Commentators i'm, like, Guys i'm sitting at. HOME i cannot hear. You the crowd is so loud and the ambient noise is so loud at THE Us. Open do not talk immediately after the, point unless there's a gasp where, ah or you, know Like patrick says, hello like things like. That that's. Okay but when you talk and the, Crowds i'm, LIKE i can't hear. You so all the things that you said might have been some of the best, shit BUT i didn't hear. It SO i try and let the crowd go wild and then they start to, settle and Then i'll say. Something so that is a big thing of, mine another thing THAT i try and, do AND i will say THAT i learned this From Lindsay, davenport is that she tries to not talk too much in, tiebreaks AND i try that as. WELL i try to give and, again my executive, producer give me what we need to look for at the start of the. Tiebreak you know what's important to look. For what's you know out? Wide serve doesn't like titter foland down the. Line what it? Is get it out there before the tiebreak, starts so the listener at home can look for.

00:51:24
Speaker 2: It as you were saying, THAT i was thinking to, Myself, Yes Lindsay davenport has, Choice, yes.

00:51:29
Speaker 1: Minimal lindsay is one of my.

00:51:30
Speaker 2: Favorites she's because SHE i do LIKE i. Feel it's, additive, ye and it's informing. Me and then it's out AND i am and Then i'm, watching which is WHAT i really want to be. DOING i want to be helped to watch more. INCASIVELY i do not want a friend in my. EAR i want somebody to point something out to me and then let me see.

00:51:49
Speaker 1: It AND i like TO i like to. FORETELL i like to, say for, example THAT i put On twitter this is not over, yet BECAUSE i want people to not be, like, oh well this match is over and sort of turn THE tv off as. WELL i, SEE i, see you, know people's you, know anxiety on their face when they miss a, shot And i'm, like, oh this is so not. OVER i like to. FORETELL i like to SAY i think this is actually going to a tiebreak in the. THIRD i don't think this is. OVER i think that chinuin is going to get tight BECAUSE i want people to, go, oh, really oh this will be. Interesting let me let me. Look SO i like to help people actually see the nuances of the. Game SO i think that's really important to.

00:52:23
Speaker 2: People is there a general rule about prognostication to people to debat?

00:52:26
Speaker 1: It?

00:52:26
Speaker 2: Do some people refuse to do it and other.

00:52:28
Speaker 1: People some people just. NO i just don't think some people see. IT i don't think some people see it or feel. IT i just think that's a natural thing you either do or you. Don't and some people don't want to be. Wrong i'm not afraid to be. Wrong i'm, like well that was, wrong, geez she just served that match out easily, so And i'm happy to say. That BUT i Think i'm USUALLY i am more on the side of WHAT i see and WHAT i, feel And i'm usually more right than, wrong and there are times Where i'm, wrong, absolutely SO i think those are. Important but the one thing THAT i absolutely really agree with is when the crowd is going. Crazy the crowd is the. Story so let the crowd go. Crazy And i've learned that through the. Years i've had great producers in my ear that have, said you, know they'll sometimes some, yell some don't, yell but some will say less is more. Right, now let the crowd tell the. Story let the let the let the let the moment tell the. Story and you, Know I've i've, Listened i've been, Uh i've fucked. Up, Sometimes i've talked.

00:53:27
Speaker 2: WHEN i shouldn't, have of, COURSE i, mean you're it's not. Normal but the one thing during the slams, rather the one thing THAT i want to call out also IS i always love AND i think increasingly as coaching is allowed and as there are more mics on the when the coaches, talk when when the coach is, talking or when the players are having an argument with each, other or the, umpire shut. UP i just want to see.

00:53:53
Speaker 1: It as they say In, spain.

00:53:57
Speaker 2: That's. It just let we can. Day we will be persing whatever goes on or kills me on the internet for days, afterwards if not. More but during that, moment.

00:54:05
Speaker 1: Your point of view and your perspective and your words don't mean anything compared to what we could hear from the.

00:54:10
Speaker 2: Player and also What i've noticed is they're often. Wrong they're immediately, interpreting and you're kind of, like, hey we don't, know or actually this person is saying one thing with their, mouth their body is saying something.

00:54:22
Speaker 1: ELSE i will reverse that and SAY i think it's a person that was quite emotional can see that better than someone who was not.

00:54:28
Speaker 2: EMOTIONAL i guess my point is just until we know what's, happening nobody needs to interpret an on court, scuffle.

00:54:35
Speaker 1: Just not because they could be telling you exactly what they're feeling or seeing or can you imagine talking over that response to.

00:54:44
Speaker 2: Or a amount of players who come from countries where the language is not.

00:54:50
Speaker 1: Still there are people out there that understand is.

00:54:54
Speaker 2: Many so if A chinese, player if A spanish speaking, PLAYER.

00:54:57
Speaker 1: I just take a Ca.

00:55:00
Speaker 2: Russian like there's enough major major languages being spoken on these tours that if somebody is screaming, SOMETHING.

00:55:04
Speaker 1: I want to know what it. Is, YEAH i want TO i. Have WHAT i do IS i, say okay, PEOPLE i do not Speak russian Or chinese or. Whatever but that was clearly text me and not text. ME i was a tweet at me and let me know what they're. Saying and a lot of people, do WHICH i by the white people that are listening to a, POD i really appreciate.

00:55:19
Speaker 2: THAT i once watched a women To match With lena and one thing In chinese THAT i know more words swear, words AND i was sitting next to A chinese guy And i'd be, like did she just say? That he was like, yes and also, this AND i was, like, wow this is great AND i WISH i had this in my. Ear so for, me especially with a lot of players who you, know are a little bit more florid with their linguistic choices on the, COURT i would love if some of these teams had EPs or at least maybe looked at the tweets or now we're going to maybe start, threading so everyone migrate and.

00:55:51
Speaker 1: Put a thread through.

00:55:52
Speaker 2: It, Right, well, look at, that we have to tour wrap. Ups we have movie, recommendations we have little bonus advice for.

00:55:59
Speaker 1: Commons anything less is, more but also make your point and don't, waffle don't waffle to and always remember the, why remember the.

00:56:09
Speaker 2: Why all, right let's check in after you get back From.
