Episode 144: Body Image

The Whinypaluza Podcast

Listen to this Whinypaluza Wednesday Live vlog episode with The Greene Family! An extension of the weekly blog, join Rebecca and her family on the live vlog, brought to you here in case you missed it last week!

This week: Body Image

  • The shift in Rebecca’s body image was inspired by wanting better for her children. The change starts with you, and your children reap the benefits.
  • Changing the relationship you have with food and exercise starts with viewing them differently. Food is not good or bad. Exercise is not a “have to” it is a “get to.”
  • There will never be perfection, only progress.
  • Learning to see yourself with “kinder eyes.” Start to talk to yourself differently. Your kids will pick up on how you talk about yourself.
  • Body image is NOT limited to girls. Boys have just as much personal criticism.
  • Scars reflect upon a journey. What do you think of when you look at yours?
  • Teaching your children how to talk to themselves is only half of the battle. Being a better example is the other half.
  • Changing your coping skills will help your children learn better skills for themselves.
  • Learning to appreciate the body you have and your good health. Fuel yourself with positive thoughts about your body, and appreciation for all that it can do.
  • Don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone has some kind of body image issue that likely effects them equally.
