going to be doing the fourth edition of the Ass Jim Anything Mailbag, and
of course joined by two very handsome English gentlemen. Today I've got producer Chris.
How are you doing, sir? Doing great? Good to see you,
And of course the one, the only Don Carnage. How you doing,
my good friend? I am no small show. Everything is everything over
here. I wish you were cute. Wait that didn't come out three just
the way I plundered it. Did you end up taking down the Eiffel Tower?
I saw you were in Paris? Well, I was tempted. I
had a really big crescent wrench and it was I had to take up a
few balls, but I think it's safe now. You may all now attend
and be tourists. You're welcome was I've been to the Eiffel Tower once and
my wife and I were almost mugged on the way. So that's my story
of the Eiffel Tower. But you guys have a much much more interesting and
enjoyable story. I believe your daughter in law may have been proposed to at
the Eiffel Tower. Is that right? Is that where it was? It
looked like it was at the Eiffel Tower. Anyway, that was a very
beautiful moment. Yes, Margaret's daughter Katrina and her fiance good Old what's his
name, no, Kidney, He's a really great guy, Darian, they
had it was it was so perfect. I mean we kind of got a
little dewey, but the good news is she said yes, So got that
out of the way. Well, because if you're watching, congratulations, congratulations.
I'm sure the listener's out there congratulating you as well. But Chris,
what are you going to get up to over in Paris? Slash the UK?
Oh, you know, just frequentcing a couple of pubs. And I
watched entys of Fury lose. Yes, that was interesting. I heard about
that. I missed I missed that fight, but I did see the Timberwolves
get over the top of the Nuggets to Day and when Epic Comeback, which
was enjoyable for me to watch. Anyway, Oh, there you go.
But did you did you guys know what a pub was or you would have,
Jim, But Chris did Had you ever been to a pub before?
Oh? Yeah, I've been here many times. Yeah, there's a slim
chance Chris is familiar. Yeah, no, uncharted territory there. You went
to the Cavin Club being a big Beatles fan, I'm sure you and you
would have loved that, Jim, had you been to the Cavin Club before.
I have never been to the Cavern Club. It was just wonderful.
You know. I hit my head on a stalactite, but that's all right,
that's okay. No, it was great. I mean it was you
know, it's literally my whole life. I've seen pictures of it and I've
seen forget about it. You know. It was just wonderful just stepping in
those steps, right. Yeah, there was a video of you seeing an
imagine floating somewhere. I'm not sure where that's going to see the light of
day, that's up to you. But there is a video out there of
Jim singing imagine on stage in the Cavern Club. We may or may not
be putting it out there some day in the future, but that's up to
Jim. Yes, the only the one weird thing was I asked the fellow
I couldn't remember the very first words of the song because you know, it's
one of those songs you just kept memorized, and so he gave them to
me and then he kept whispering them to me for the rest of the song,
and I didn't want to embarrass him by saying, go away, I'm
good now, you know, stop. You know. So it's uh,
it looks a bit disjointed, I think, but it was fine. It
came out well, all in good fun. But something else exciting you did
in Liverpool, besides the beall stuff, was that you went to Liverpool Comic
Con and you saw many of your fans there and a lot of great guests.
Tell us about your time at Liverpool Comic On. Oh it was great,
you know, there was just tons and tons of people. I was
actually kind of surprised, you know, folks like myself, like, yes,
we don't get over here that often. And so as a result,
the fans were just wonderful, just beautiful, happy people and glad to be
there, and I was glad to see them, and lots of hugs,
had a few tears. I always get Winnie the Pooh for some reason evokes
a lot of a lot of tear drops in a wholesome, happy, sentimental
way. But this was no exception and it was just lovely and we're looking
forward to another one coming up here in the world famous London. Are you
going to head to the Winnie the Pooh Woods? Isn't it like a bridge
or something where the sort of the book was based. Yes, it is,
and it's the very same bridge that was immortalized in the stories and it's
very exciting. Can't wait. Well all right, Chris, are you ready
to start doing some mailback questions cause we did post on Jim's socials this week

hit that subscribe button. Jim, let's talk about Liverpool Comic Con. Did
you have any surprises there, any unusual gifts given to you or did anybody
ask for a voice of a character you hadn't had for a long time?
Tell any surprises at Liverpool Comic Con. Well, one thing that I'm always
kind of slightly surprised is that they bring up a character called Minsk that was
in a video game Boldish Gate a long long time ago, and it was
many moons ago, and I'm still and of course it came up. He
came up several times here. And it was amazing to me because, you
know, you do these things, and especially video games, you don't have
any real context for it. You're just a own in a room. You're
talking to yourself. You know, it's not even like you have storyboards to
work off you like you may in a movie or a animate or a cartoon,
and you just you're all alone. You're doing these lines, you do
them, you walk out, and it was like, I don't know,
one hundred years ago something like that, and people come up and it's been
ninety yes, yeah, well it's yesterday to them. And if you're you
know, twenty years old, well it's brand new to you. And it's
it always amazes me. But I'm also very gratified and grateful, and I
thank everyone for their dedication and their their their fandom, the fact that they
enjoy it, you know, and it's the gift that keeps on giving apparently,
so I'll take it. I think with video games for you in particular,
because with the Disney shows, you could see the response because your kids
might have watched it, and everyone watched the Disney shows. But with video
games, that's not your world. You've admitted you don't play video games.
You've recorded, you're a part of them, of the game is as the
voice, but you never played them. You weren't really in the video game.
Well, so I think that's probably why it's more of a surprise to
you just how impactful they were. Because the video game industry now was a
billion dollar industry. It's huge, but in the nineties wasn't didn't feel as
big, you know. But Balder's Gate, that's one always comes up when
we do them a voice active videos, people keep saying they want Minsk,
they want your doctor, robotnic slash Eggman, the want to hear you do
that one. A lot of people are asking for mister Bumpy as well.
Yes, and that I get a kick out of because he's very near and
dear to my heart. You know, he's a little monster who lives in
the grahame and the muck and under the bed and everything, and he's kind
of like, in a very real sense, he's kind of like the anti
Pooh bless us. Sorry. He lives under the bed and enjoys eating you
know, lint and things like that. So I'm always surprised when people,
you know, the point is, you just never know what's going to impact
somebody. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but one of the
first conventions I did years and years ago, these two guys come up.
They go, do the voice. Do the voice? So I did Pooh
do the voice? No, no, no the voice. So I did
dark Wing. No no the voice, So I did Tigger And they go
no, and they go Minsk, Minsk. And it's like that out of
all the voices, that's the one that got through the ether. That's the
one that got them. And I said, you're kidding, and I go,
no, No, he's awesome. Go for it the eyespoo, So
there you go. And it was sort of a slavic, big old muscle
bount goober and it was kind of inspired by Lenny of Mice and Men and
that was the inspiration for that. And of course he Beware the Hampster of
Justice and which was Boo. By the way, it's just so wonderful to
see because you never know what's going to touch people and it's just wonderful.
Yeah. Well, if you want to hear Jim doing that voice, then

You finally for that. In description of this podcast slash video, as
we said, we asked for some mailbay questions from you guys on Jim's socials
and boy did you send through some questions. Let me have a five hundred
alone on the Instagram post. So people clearly want to be asking mister Jim
Cummings some questions. So let's kick it off with this one here from at
Living Fantasy two thousand and four. How did you come up with your doctor
eggman slash robotic voice? I guess what with inspirations for that voice? Oh
gosh, well that was an interesting one because I wanted people to think of
him as a quiet, completely evil villain who had not one good redeeming factor.
In fact, I can remember. I think it's the thing that nailed
down the job for me is he was saying to his henchman, wait did
you get prisoners? Oh, prisoners are good, you know, and God
only knows what he had planned for these lucky devils. So everybody just cracked
up that there was a guy who was so sort of a quiet not so
quiet Hannibal lecter, you know, because you could just see him going,
oh, yes, we have someone in the dungeon. Oh that's good.
And so he was kind of the inspiration for that, and people picked up
on it, and to this day they enjoyed it. I mean, people
will come I can't believe it cosplaying as the good doctor. So that'll tell
you all you need to know right there. You tend to say sometimes your
voices are based on family members are bad impersonation of them, or you can
binding various voices together. What was it for Robotnik or slash Aggman. Was
there any voice particularly sort of merged together or was it just something that you
just had to just go with it? Well, like I said, Hannibal
Lecter, Yeah, just Hannibal. Yeah, yeah, that was And it
wasn't a dead on impression. It was a bad impression of him, but
you could just tell that he savored every prisoner, every you know, a
stroll around the dungeon is a great day for him. Monterey Jack had his
chase, Eggman had his prisoners. That's right, Robotnik to be more precise,
all right. The next question is from Oscar Valdemar. Who is the
hardest character to voice besides Taz Boy, well as far as gosh that speaks
to wear and tear on the pipes, I would think, And so none
of them. I mean, maybe a little bit of Monterey Jack here and
there because he got kind of loud, But anytime somebody's just overly loud or
overly you know, I've done a few video games like Fallout and different ones
that require you know, you're falling from thirty feet and now you're falling from
fifty feet and you're falling from the moon. Oh, by the way,
you're on fire. Those guys, I hate those guys because they're all you
know, you have to sound like you're in horrible, screaming pain because and
eventually you are. So I tend to shy away from those over the past
couple decades because you know, Tas was enough. I've paid my dues with
TAZ. You know, you can't do that all day long. In fact,
I think I've said it before. I requested that we do that on
Friday afternoon so that I had the weekend to recover. So there you have
it. Do you still take on many new roles or do you just sort
of because you've got your resume already that you got the classes, winning the
pood ticket doctrin, you've got them already. There. Are you still eager
to pick up new roles or you'd happy to sort of just you know,
you just sit up with what you've got. Oh yeah, well a few
here and there. You know, one or two that I could think of.
They don't have a name for, so I can't even tell them to
you. But at this point I've had so many and I'm very grateful,
thank you Lord, and thank you people that they tend to pop up here
here and again, you know, in different forms and different venues, and
you know, I'm very grateful for it. But there's not a lot of
brand new content out there. It seems like a lot of people, a
lot of producers, a lot of studios are mining their own past, which
that's kind of cool, but there's not a lot of I mean, there's
no new Dark Wing out there that I know of, although there may be
old Dark Wing out there, but you know that remains to be seen.
But yeah, and I'm semi retired. I don't think you really ever retire
when you do vo or singing. You just get a different microphone, all
right, This next one is okay, here we go. Tommy Funk twenty
ninety nine. Is there a specific character you refuse to voice and what is
the story behind the refusal? If so, Oh wow, I guess I
could tell this story. Sure? Why not? There was a I used
to be the announcer for kids WB that was a I guess, boy,
I don't know the nineties or early two thousands for a long time, and
somebody over in a very foreign semi friendly country, decided he really really liked
the way I intro things and as a narrator, and called up my agent
and said, would I like to trying to think of a way to tell
this story without specifying. Okay, let's just say he had a ton and
I mean tons of money, just all the money in the world, and
one of me to narrate about his exploits on his various fleet of yachts and
all the companions that he had on this fleet of yachts. And you can
imagine there were lots of bikinis and lots of not bikinis, and it was
this. It was that it was, and to me, I just looked
at it and I said, this guy's the king of debauchery over here.
I mean, it's excess for the sake of excess. It's overkilled for the
sake of overkill. It's over indulgence all over on every possible angle. And
they sent me the video and the script, and I just and then a
pretty good paycheck, and so I said, you know, gosh, you
know, if I if I had occasion to meet this fella, I probably
wouldn't like him. In fact, I wouldn't like him in fact, i'd
more than not just like him. And so uh, I said, yeah,
I'm going to pass on that. So he doubled the money and I
said, okay, now I'm going to pass on it twice. And uh,
because I just you know, I mean, I'm a v O guy.
They wouldn't have seen me. But it's uh, it just it truly.
That was the only time that I can recall anyway. Uh, it's
just not principle, you know, knowing that, knowing right from wrong,
whatever you want to say. I'm no saint, trust me, but that
was a little dose mucco, as they say, it was a little too
much. And so uh I kind of said no, no audios, although
I don't know how to say it in his actual language, but that's what
I said. You get to use your imagination yacht, And I said,
when do you want to do the session? Now, I say, yeah,
yeah, well it depends how big a yacht. Anyway, Yeah,
I'd put the yacht in my backyard. Why not. Next question here is
from at steph Underscore drawing zero one. She says, besides that gig,
what is your dream project? Besides what? Well, besides that, the
gig will just discussing what realistically would be your dream project, really, the
next one, whatever it may be, I wouldn't wouldn't break my heart.
There were some rumblings about bringing dark Wing Duck back, and uh, I
can tell you I'll be there with bells on my friend. So yeah,
that would be lovely. Yeah, I could do that in a heartbeat,
because I was the terror that flapped in the night. I don't know if
you knew that at Duck Wig that anyway, you get the idea. Hint
hint, nudge, nudge, wink wink, say no more. In all
honesty, though, Jim, have you ever found yourself taking your work for
granted at any point? Oh? No, No, you can't take it
for granted, because then you don't care. Then you expect it should be
coming to you. No, I'm you know, you just have to stay
in a state of gratitude, and I do. I am. I mean,
I'm very grateful, you know. There but for the grace of God,
I would be retired from a steel mill instead of the coolest gig in
the world. So yeah, don't take anything for granted. You can't.
You can't out in this business. The next question comes from Adam Shapiro zero
seven, zero nine. What is your first memory of Walt of Walt of
Waltz. Wow, you know, I'd never have met him. Would that
I did? That would give a lot for that. But yeah, the
age gap was pretty profound. But my first memory of Walt, I could
tell you was he would introduce so so many Disney movies and Disney. I
mean, you know, the Mickey Mouse Club. There's a picture of me
when I was three years old, and I'm sitting there grinning from ear to
ear with my little chubby self and I've got my Mickey Mouse Club T shirt
on. People have seen that picture. I guess it's out on the interweb
somewhere, and you know, folks just laugh and they go, wow,
you've really been with Disney for a while, And I said, yes,
I have. I mean I was born. I was born in the early
fifties. That's when the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse came out, and I said,
you may have heard it. It's a story a bottom mouse Gosh, I
don't know. Twenty some thirty years ago, I ended up narrating the story
of Disney and how Disney's Empire came came to be, and it all started
with the mouse, and it's just it's truly, it's an honor, and
it's it's a dream come true, and it still remains that thus. Truly,
my earliest memories of Walt were that he was that guy who looked like
everybody's uncle, and he was on television introducing these great stories. And I
remember Johnny Tremaine of old Boston Town, remember his name. He fought against
the crown. Yes, I do remember all the lyrics and swamp Fox,
swamp Fox daring at the glen. Nobody knows where the swamp Fox's been,
and people my age are out there going, oh man, I remember that,
so uh and I haven't seen it. It hasn't been. It hasn't
returned to Disney for some reason. Then it was Spinning Marty and all those
different shows, and Net will always have a special place in my heart.
God, God bless her this one he's from. At Tiger Breath thirteen,
they ask would Cat from Cat Dog? Would Cat get along with all of
these Disney cousins. Well, I don't think he necessarily gets along with anybody.
He's not all that good at getting along with Dog. But I don't
know. He's a very sarcastic guy, And yes, I think he would,
but they would still be confused, all his Disney cousins, so to
speak. They would still have to scratch their head and say, so,
how do they go to their astroom? Again, I don't see how that,
you know. And in fact, that's one of my favorite episodes of
Cat Dog. Cat Dog are at a park. They're at a park,
a public park, you know, baseball diamonds, basketball hoops and everything,
and they go strolling into the men's room and two seconds later, these two
other guys come out and they go so that's how they do it, which
I thought was a pretty good joke. Yeah, but Cat doesn't necessarily get
along with anybody unless they get along with him. It just sort of come
to me. Then, as you're speaking, do you think there's a lot
of comparisons between the relationship between cat Dog and Lucky and Bunkers. Well,
I can honestly tell you I've never thought of that, and I'm not going
to. You know, Dog's a bit of a dog. Dog's a bit
of a you know, whacko job, and Cat's the sort of gonna put
up with him. That's true. The Lucky aspect of having to put up
with Bunkers. Well that's true. Yeah, well Lucky you know, Bunkers
was a big eye roller to him on an ongoing basis, and Dog is
a big eye roller to cat on an ongoing basis. So I think in
that in that sense, yes, but I mean at least Lucky Pequel got
to go home at night, and Dog's cat is stuck with dog all the
time, so there is a little little difference there. This next question comes
from a hail Soul since twenty twenty three. Who is your favorite Disney princess?
Favorite Disney Princess? Oh? Yeah, like I'll answer that even if
I did have one. How about that? I love all of them?
How'd I do see that fence? I'm gonna sit on it? Yeah,
yeah, yes, exactly right. Yeah, but you know it's funny,
but I've literally worked with all of them, every single one, you know,
Anika, Linda, Jody, and of course Belle. Should you know,
even though she wasn't a Disney princess, she's appelled to Yeah. I
don't think I could answer that because they are. Yeah. Well, let's
face it there, Royalty, how's that? I think I've got a three
year old daughter. It seems to be these days the go to is Anna
and Elsa from the Frozen series. I seem to be the fan favorite.
Oh there, now my daughter's starting to gravitate towards Tiana. She's really enjoying
Tiana. Oh well, good for her. I do too. Page in
the Gang might not be that happy about that answer, but I no,
I I'm with you, with you. Actually, I forgot about the Frozen
Gang. But you know what, it's okay because I wasn't in that next
question. Yeah, I don't get that. Of all the things, the
big why wasn't Jim in this? What's going on? All right? Well,
this next question here comes from at jiddy Girl. She says, what
is something that you relate to Pooh Bear in your real life? Well,
you know, I've always said that Pooh sees the world through honey colored glasses,
and I try to. I try to see the world through honey colored
glasses. But occasionally you have to clean off the windshield here here and there,
because it's it's not all honeypots. But I do like, you know,
I like Poo's attitude. You know, he always looks at the bright
side of life, and I try to so I think that's his closest we'll
probably get. I think of all the Disney characters, who is probably the
one you want to try and replicate the most? Just from an outlook perspective,
I think, well, he's got he's very positive. Yeah. Yeah.
This next question comes from Christy lore Leo. What is your favorite Winnie
the Pooh line? Well, I do like you're stronger than you seem,
You're braver than you believe, and bountier than you sunk your wear with a
little bonus tigger in there. No, I think that little trilogy is very
sweet, stronger, smarter, braver. That's kind of words to live by,
I think there, And yeah, who's got that sort of just instant
folk wisdom so to speak? It's almost timeless? And uh yeah, definitely
you know words to live by? What can I say? That's a good
way to go. Have you ever found yourself quoting any of your characters in
real life? Just not trying to quote them by doing the voice, but
just you've quoted them. I wish I had a really good answer for that,
but I don't. We'll come back to it. Yeah, okay,
there you go, all right? Well, at Josh underscore. Abram wants
to know. Is there a role that you regret not taking? No,
because if I didn't want it, I wouldn't have auditioned. I wouldn't have
read for it. You know, there's there's and the one that I did
not have to audition for. They just wanted to harm me. I didn't
take and I don't regret that. So No, so far, so good?
How am I doing it? So far? Is there a role that
I record? Have you ever? Is there a role that I did take
that you wish I didn't? Let me ask her? Ask her that question?
Where do I begin? Where do I begin? Yeah? What was
that one role where you got credited as Tim Cummings? Oh? That movie
Chris remembered a good one. Yeah, it was. It was a I
guess I could say it's a Stephen King moving toe pooper. Uh did it?
And I was? It was this terrible I think I don't want to
burn anybody, but it was. It was this craziest. It came out
right after Kujo, so Stephen King was on fire, you know, and
it was called the Manglar I'll just say it. And I was the excuse
me, excuse me surfing interrupting cult classic The mangla Oh cult classic The Mangler.
Anyway, I was the voice of the Mangler, and they didn't know
what they wanted, but they wanted a sounder, a thing to let people
know something somebody's gonna bleed. So I came up with and then I can't
And they blended those three two together, and there was the third one,
which I can't remember, and I think it was and so it was obviously
a you know, sort of a fairy tale kind of a personation there,
and they blended them all together. And I went and saw it. I
didn't go to the premiere for one reason or another, and I hope I'm
not boring people with this, but I went and saw it and it was
just awful. But don't tell anyone. So I sat through it and suffered
through and made my way through it. And then I said, all right,
well, I got a watch. I guess I'll watch the credits because
she it's fun to see your name, and it said Voice of the Mangler,
Tim coming, and I went, yes, how about that, Tim?
You go, Tim? And it's the only time my name's ever been
misspelled. I mean, how hard is it to get Jim, but I
was grateful. So everybody run out and watch the Mangler. You're gonna love
it anyway. You know, the universe is in your work, in your
favorite and your land. Winnie the Pooh, Yes, miss misspell your name
in the Mangla, just for you. It's all just happening for you.
Yeah, life is good. You get paid and you don't have the stank
of the Manglo on your career for the rest of your life. That's right,
Chris. Next one, Yes, this next question is from the Weissmapper.
What is your favorite non Disney voice? Well, my favorite non Disney
voice I got a shake. I gotta go with the taz Oh. Yeah.
And I enjoyed doing balto h for you know, Steven Spielberg. I
was the bad guy. Yeah, I was steel and uh And it also
secured me a spot as a number one in the Kevin Bacon Game because Kevin
Bacon and I were at odds the whole movie. So that was fun.
It was a luck working with Kevin. Uh. Well, you know it's
funny because we never really worked together. You know, we're doing movies.
It's a little different than doing television cartoons. They pick you up and you're
apart the whole time. They want to keep everything separate so they can tour
with the EQ and the reverb and whatever, you know, and editing obviously.
Uh so we actually never did work together. And I understand it's to
his everlasting shame. He's just he feels terrible about it, and I and
I understand, I feel his pain. I might amazing. I know you've
told this story before, but I think you should tell it again. Tell
us the Steven Spielberg story. When he got you into the studio. Oh
well, in which sense I mean he was he was just that. I
well, he got you in, and he took he took a phone call.
Yes, oh yeah, well that's where I was going to go with
it, so okay, good. Yeah. It was interesting because and the
funny thing is he was doing Schindler's List at the same time. You know,
balto Schindler's List. They're clearly an obvious collinsience there. Yeah, you
know, but he had been I had gone through like four or five famous
actors on camera actors, and he was displeased with all of them. And
my agent, actually a friend of mine, they were at the theater and
they said well wait, let me hold on. I don't want to get
these mixed up, you know, and I'm gonna pass on that anyway.
He can't. Bottom line, he ended up coming to the studio because he
didn't want to go through it again. So I got and my agent,
Chef Dayanis, he was great to this day, and he said, well,
let's book this time and we're going to get like eight hours, we're
going to do this, We're going to do the whole movie. We're gonna
do it and one day and I'm gonna be there. So Steven Spielberg came
and directed me personally for the movie, and I was just knocked out,
you know. And about halfway through the day, he had to take a
phone call and he goes, oh, who is it? Oh yeah,
Well he looks at his watch. Uh yeah, you know what, go
ahead, put him on. Hey how you doing pal? Yeah real good?
Oh no, no, I'm at work. Well I hope you're at
work too, good stuff. Yeah, how's Hillary? Oh she's good.
Listen, give him my best, you know. And and he's sitting there
going through the conversation maybe like ten fifteen minutes. Finally hangs up and I
go so the president. He goes, oh, yeah, yeah, that
was Bill. Hillary's doing this or that, and I'm going, okay,
so I'm hanging out with a guy who just casually takes a phone call from
the President of the United States of America. Well, there you go.
It's it's good to be Steven Spielberg. I would think, don't you.
I think it's good to be. Well, it wasn't bad that day.
Yeah, that was a good question. Did he take you for dinner at
all? Clinton? Oh? No, no, no, but I did
run into him a few years later at the Animaniacs and a rap party,
and so yeah, there was a pretty good dinner. Actually, I don't
know that he took me per se, but you know what, that sounds
like a good lie, and like I was saying, yes he did.
He took me to dinner. I think it was pizza and shrimp and something.
Jim, have you ever met a president? Oh? Thank you for
asking. Yes, As a matter of fact, I did. Barbara Bush
Missus Bush, the first George Present George Bush. She had a thing for
for to promote children's literacy, and she wanted to encourage little ones to read
read early, and so she hired an x amount of characters. It was
myself. I think Bill Farmer was in there as Goofy, and she thought
it would be nice to read a story with Winnie the Poop. So I
I went did a read along and she was They recorded all my lines.
They recorded she was over the phone. And as a result, I got
invited to the White House, and uh, it was it was great,
you know. I mean, you get invited to the White House, I
think you go. And so we're all on the lawn, we're hanging out.
We're on the lawn in these lawn chairs that were sinking into the White
House lawn and we're all just sitting there and President Bush comes out, and
of course I had to have my video camera, remember our old, good
old video cameras a long time ago, and I thought, oh gosh,
I have to do this. And so the President Bush was kind of looking
over there and pointing at someone who was obviously behind me, and I've got
an on camera with my video camera, and I look at him and I
go and he was kind of looking straight at me, so he couldn't avoid
me because apparently the person was somewhere behind me. And he looks at me
and he goes, so, you know, made a bad smell face and
everything. So I got personally dissed by the President of the United States.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You're welcome. It's good to
be Jim. Yes, it's good. Yeah. I was hoping he was
going to give me the finger. Didn't quite get it, but he was
thinking it. You can tell he was thinking it. This question he comes
from at Zach Hamasa. He says, whilst working on Bump in the Knives,
did you yourself ever get to see the actual clay models that they used
to make the show. Oh, that's a great question. Yes I did.
In fact, you know, we visited the studio and it was amazing.
I have to tell you that there were clay models, and the way
they did this was it was kind of like the way they did the raisins
California Raisins, which I also visited and had a clay raisin for a few
years until they dry up and they fall apart, so that kind of backfired.
But yes, I did. It was incredibly interesting. You know,
the way they did it. They would take and move them like em and
they'd have little arrows on them indicating and they got like a I don't know,
a minute and a half, maybe a day on those of footage because
that slow motion stop. I can't imagine even discovering that, and you had
to be really patient. But yeah, I did visit them and they were
fun, and yes I did steal one, and it sure did fall apart
sadly because they just they just don't last. Yeah, yeah, my Raisin
fell apart. Did you steal mister Bumpy? Mister Bumpy? Was that that
you took? Yess Bumpy? Oh yeah, good old mister b For me,
he was a cross between Wolfman Jack and Tom Waits. If anybody's curious,
I'm good at mixing voices and characters together and coming up with the new
one. The trick is to have have them not it's recognizable as either one.
I think I might have ad been at that one. This next question
comes from dedicated Underscore teacher Underscore eighty seven which Disney Afternoon TV shows deserve to
have a crossover in a Disney Plus movie which Disney Afternoon Well, since I
was in all of them, I would have to say all of them okay,
catching catching? Yes, Oh, crossovers I love. In fact,
I think they should crossover with each other and we could have a whole new
thing. But no, I uh, you know, I have to say
that dark Wing is very near and dear to my heart, and and Bunkers,
and I sure did like tails, you know, and I'm gonna sit
here and name them all, so I won't do that. But but you
know, I think you fans out there, you're the ones in the dry
receipt get those cards and letters coming into good old Disney and say things like,
let's do that again. I'll be there, and as you can see,
I still look the same original programming. No way. Yeah, Hey,
the two great syllables, the great syllables of all time reboot? Yes,
amen, two other But you're right, Jimmy, as he mentioned Dark
Wing Duck. I think you'd have to be a madman to not think that
a dark Wind Duck reboot wouldn't work in today's TV landscape. Surely, Oh,
I agree. Well, you know, it's interesting because, as you
know, he was loosely based on a batman ish character and the Shadow,
which was an old pulp character. And I think it's logical to bring back
because they did it with Batman. You know, they brought him back after
X amount of years. So apparently it's a formula that works. And all
I can say is, we're not waiting on me. Hint, hint,
hint. Alright, yes, I was into trouble. Let's move on to
a new question at mook seven to zero four. Who is your favorite Disney
character? Who's your favorite Disney character that you don't voice? Oh? Well,
there isn't one, really. I mean, what's the point if it's
not me doing it? I mean, send them anyway? Kidding now,
Oh man, I almost said Blue, but I got to do him recently.
Boy, that's a tough one. You probably throw Ballue in there because
you only just recently sort of took that. Yeah. Well, like I
always had a soft spot for a Blue. Yeah, thees gotta love that.
But yeah, I would have to say, uh yeah, Ballu's in
there. And lamp Wick from Blues, he's the friend. He's a friend
that we all wish we had. I think Blue. Yeah, yeah,
that's a good way to put it. Yeah, I agree. Do do
Marvel superheroes technically count as Disney characters? Now? Well they had a different
origin if they're just I guess yeah, yeah that's yeah, Well, yeah,
I guess they are technically, but I don't sort of see them as
Disney. But I guess if you want to be technical about it, yeah,
I agree, it's kind of like Hondo. Hondo's a Disney character now,
but it's Star Wars, you know, And if you go to Disneyland,
it's pretty much marvel Land now. It's really really evolving, especially that
one in Paris. They had some really cool rides out there. That's true.
I can't recommend it enough. They're a struggling company, So going indulged
them, won't you? They need your money, shekel their way. This
next question comes from where are we at here? From Barnia? This next
one's from Narnia. No, this is from fee five fu Fina. Do
you ever come back to your hometown? Yes? I do, Yeah,
not on any great regular basis, but sure why town is my town?
A little quick shot out there for the Penguins, all those guys back there.
Absolutely, Yeah, you know, I almost went to Youngstown State,
was this close when I transfer from Air Force. Had Youngstown State and cal
Poly they were my two like sure things scholarships. Yeah. Well they have
a hell of a football team that they really do. Yeah, they really
do. They're always up there, you know, you know, and then
the follow up. There was one more little thing after this question. It
was my father in law went to school with you. Oh good, and
his name is doesn't say fee five fu fanna. You gotta follow up on
that one. Yeah, yeah, at fao fan. I'm right in.
Let us know who your father in law is. Yeah, that's right.
Maybe he used to beat up Jim. Maybe Jim used to beat up him.
We don't have it's limb possibility there. Yeah. Yeah, thanks for
not telling him your name? Telling us your name? Oh well, what
street did you grow up on? Gym for those of you playing at home
in Youngstown. Oh well, it was the world famous Bryson Bryson Street,
and there is the old childhood house still there, do you know? Oh
no, nothing is there. Uh. I lived in three well, one
house I probably lived in for like when I was eight months old. We
moved and lived on Albert Street. For everybody's riveted. The rest of the
world is going, you're kidding. You lived on Albert Street. Yeah I
did, and uh, and then we moved to Bryson Street for the rest
of it till I was about nineteen. Then I left Youngstown. But uh
yeah, just kind of all over the town and none of the houses are
there anymore lest they're pea picking little hearts. That steel mills didn't do well,
what are you gonna do? Our callers were very blue in Youngstown.
You just know there's a there's a start. There's a start who is in
Youngstown with other boss of the going And this cabab shop that used to be
the home of one Jim Cummings. Yes, yes see this gravel. Jim
used to sleep there. Yeah. Well there was myself, the venerable Eddie
O'Neil, great guy from Married with Children and oh god, what's the name
of his other show with Sophia for Modern Family? Yeah, Modern Family?
Yeah, great guy, great guy and Boom Boom Mancini. We're all sort
of buds, you know, partners in crime. It's a great place to
be from. Yeah, sounds like it. Plenty of gravel by the sounds
of it. At Osh dot Carew says, what do you remember about voicing
Shoka in Spider Man, the animated series from nineteen ninety four. That was
a lot of fun. We had a great he was I always thought he
was an odd looking villain. Because he was dressed and I guess he was
dressed in insulation so he wouldn't accidentally shock himself because he walked around looking like
he was wearing an evil quilt or mattress or so. And it was a
lot of fun. We had a good time with that, you know.
They let me run with it, and I wanted him to. I portrayed
him as part street thug and part super villain because he was kind of earthy.
He wasn't, which was perfect for spider Man because Spider Man's a street
kid sort of. And we just had a great time with that. And
thanks for noticing me, which I don't mean to steal Eoorre's line, but
glad you liked it. I think we're ready for a reboot. Well,
it just rebooted the X Men ninety seven series, so maybe that's something they
could throw out there as well. They love rebooting the ninety stuff. Now.
I feel like everyone who grew up in the nineties is now old enough
to either buy the physical media or fork out the money for Disney plus now
for their kids to watch it. So they're going straight to the nineties for
all the reboots. Oh yeah, no, you're one hundred percent right up.
The best illustration of that is and this is years ago before before Disney
Plus. I was at a convention comic and a little guy comes walking up.
He's like six seven years old, cute as he could be, and
he's cosplaying his Dark Wing duck. And I remember saying to him, hey,
buddy, that's pretty good. You know, you look just like old
d W. That's good stuff, man. But how the heck the show
went off the air? Oh, I don't know, eighteen twenty years before
you were born. And his dad looks at me and he's got a stack
of DVDs of Dark Wing DVDs and he goes plops them down from me to
sign. He goes, we're raising him right, and I go, yes,
you are. So that that was. That was very flattered with that,
and I couldn't agree. Couldn't agree more. Who is your favorite Marvel
supervillain? Do you have one? Oh, boy, Marvel supervillain? Gosh,
well, Kang is way up there. Doctor Doom, I don't know,
can't go too wrong with Doctor Doom, and uh, Craven the Hunter
was pretty cool. Spider Man. Okay, it's a bit off off,
Okay. Stan Lee what a genius. There's next question comes from Jaker's voiceover,
do you have a favorite microphone and interface? Well? Sure, look
now, yeah, I've been I've been singing on shores and yelling into these
things my whole life. So I guess sure, Sandheiser, Sure and send
Heeiser. They're both kind of tied for first place. How about you,
pal? Person who asked this question, which one are you on? Probably
has his own podcast? Do you remember what Mike's they use in the studios
back in the Disney afternoon days? Uh? Well, either Shore or Sandheiser
could have been either. Okay, yeah, definitely brought to you by our

Which one time character would you like to have the chance to voice once
again? Well, it might be fun to bring Dingo back. It was
from Gargoyles. He was in Australian and uh, I think gosh, I
think we only did like one or two shows and then the series got canceled
because they were kind of ushering in a whole new batch for the Gargoles to
contend with, and I was one of them, and then inexplicably, at
the height of their popularity, and they do this every now and then.
No one understands why, but they canceled the series and move on, and
that's what they did. So I think I was all was dingo there for
all? An I maybe two it besides that's it. So more cards and
letters, please come on. You can help at Gargoyles. That's a show
that has a big cop follow Oh. Absolutely yeah. And Keith's the hell
of a guy Keith. Jeff, Yes, absolutely, Jeff Bennett. I
revisited that show would have been maybe last year thanks to Disney Plus. And
you know some of those shows they're thirty years old, but man, they
still hold up today. Just the animation wise, I still think the animation
looks better than half the shows that come out now. Oh I agree.
I agree that better than much animation that comes out now. And the writing.
There were stories. Yeah, you know a lot of what goes on
now is just what we used to call splat and run. Well no,
oh, they had run away. You know, there's there's a cartoon.
You know, God forbid, we have a story, all right, Chris.
One more question, A couple more questions. This one's from donster domas
if you had the opportunity to be a regular voice of a DC or Marvel
hero villain. Who would you like to be? Boy, that's a good
one. Would you be eager to take on a role like a Superman or
a Batman? Or was that just something you don't want to touch? Well,
they've been done so much, you know, I think exactly, Yeah,
boy, I don't know. Uh, some really cool villain Scorpion be
good from Spider Man, maybe Hawk guys in there somewhere, Doctor Xavier,
he'd be fun. Not mister and miss Puss. You prefer when it comes
to villain, do you prefer to be the real, over the top kind
of villain right, or do you prefer more reserved kind of villain? Because
he said Robotnik was kind of reserved. But do you prefer that or do
you prefer more outlandish zaniness? Well, they're both fun. It it depends
on the project, that's for sure. Yeah, because you know, it
just it really really just depends on the tenor of the of the animation,
that the series itself, the storyline, you know, whatever, it matters.
But they're a lot of fun. You know, bad guys are you
know, they have a lot of fun. I'm sure that Captain Hook had
a pretty good time, at least as good as Peter Pan so hey,
you know, And and Don Carnage had Lord knows, he had a hell
of a great time. He was a lot of fun. It's amazing with
voices like Don Carnage. They were so big when that character was on TV.
He had the mascot, was at the Disneyland, you had your own
live show and everything. I feel like Don's just really been somewhat forgotten about
for like the last twenty plus years. And when we put that video up
on your social media earlier this week of you doing the voice, it's almost
like it just reaged not his memory of everyone going, oh my god,
he was one of my favorite villains of all time. I completely forgot about
him. It's a shame that such a great and cool villain seems to be
almost forgotten about. I agree. You know, back in the day,
they had a great live show and it was called Plane Crazy, and it
was at Disneyland p L a n E. And it was Don Carnage,
it was Blue, it was Kit Cloud Kicker, it was Rebecca and King
Louis. And at the time, of course I was King Louis and Don
Carnage, So I think they should bring that show back too, because then
now I get to be blue Oh King Louis and Done Garnage. I don't
think i'd be very good at Sally Strothers Rebecca though. I think we'll let
Sally keep go. I think thanks to Disney plus, people are aware of
these shows again, So I think you could probably bring back those original nineties
live shows at the theme parks, and I think people would get a big
kick out of it. Oh, I think you're right. I know you're
right. That's you know, it's as evidenced, like I said, when
I go to comic cons and such as that there it's as if they were
just made last year. So I'm with you, so true. It's kind
of like when you watch the show. But we all have memories of going.
Why don't personally, but many people over in the States that have many
memories of going to watch those shows as kids, they would love the opportunity
to take their own kids to it. So Disney, if you are listening,
that's make it happen. Yeah, We'll do a couple more questions and
we will wrap this Ask you Anything mail bag numberfore up. But this one
here is at mally m b. Is there another actor that you had the
pleasure of working with that made you feel rather starstruck? Well, I had
occasion to work with Rita Moreno and that that was that one got to me.
She she did a bonkers show, and boy that that was. That
was really quite something. And gosh, I'm trying to think there's been a
few, but Rita was, you know, having been in so many classic
films, I mean West Side Story alone, you know, it's like you
have to pinch yourself. So I would have one quite amazing that she came
in to do an episode of Bunkers. That's pretty incredible, I agree,
And it was crazy and she was just as sweet as she could be,
and she said, oh my god, this is like a license to steal.
You can't overdo anything. She goes as an actress. As an actor,
this is great. There's no such thing as being you know, you
will never hear anyone tell you, okay, kid, that's a little over
the top. They're going No, there is no over the top. And
I thought that was a great observation because she's she's done it all. You
know, what can I tell you she's she's incredible and uh. And Tim
Curry he's another one, you know, he's he's a great guy. You
know you have occasion too to work with these great people. Sean Aston is
another one. It's a beautiful thing, you know, because every now and
then some really incredible actor will go slumming and I run into them. So
it's fun. I'll take it. I'll take it. All right, Chris,
you've ep us up with the final question of the episode. All right,
this final question is from Raising the Chaos Team. Do you voice all
the toys too? Sometimes my kids get talking Winnie dolls and they say that
doesn't sound like pooh hmmm. Well, you know I could tell you that
they it's me. It is me. Uh. I think sometimes these little
voice boxes and the toys they have to compress them and they have to squeeze
them in because I've thought that too on different toys down through the years.
I think there was one thing that came not in a cereal box. I
don't remember, but it was just so compressed and it's called compression. Uh
apt past the honey. You know that doesn't sound like boop and uh,
but it's oh, look it's Winny to poo doesn't really sound like him.
So I feel your pain. That's all I can tell you. But usually
yeah, but yes it is me for better or worse. That part of
your contract is basically for you. If it's Winny the Pooh. Do you
have to voice it? Is that just part? Is that just the deal?
Well? I want to voice it so that works out. Yes,
I do have to voice it. Yeah. There is that other series where
when he's a bit younger, I think, and I don't think it's you
voicing it. Is that all the one where there's little little children. Yeah,
that didn't do well, but which is a shame. But yeah,
obviously no, I think they had. I mean I think there were like
six year olds pretending to be four or three or four year olds, you
know, kids who were just able to read. I guess it didn't do
well, but I think it's a little not jarring, but it's uh,
you know, to hear a little toddler if you will voice coming out of
a tigger and rabbit and gopher and pooh, I think I think it throws
you off a little bit. And I don't know that they were all that
successful, which is a shame. Well, it's kind of well. See,
the thing is with your Winnie the Pooh, your voice of Winnie is
very similar to Sterlings. So it's just it's been that voice for god knows
how long now, so to hear it sounded like a child would be jarring.
Yeah, I agree. Well that's there's the rub. I have another
question that just came to me. When is there anybody that you could think
of that you would want to take over the voice of poo? Hmmm,
like if you had your choice, who would it be. Gosh, he's
basically assigning a role to somebody. Now he'll be very careful. Yeah,
yeah, I gotta watch out for that one. Well, I have no
idea if this person is out there. But if Sterling all the way had
a grandson, I don't know. I have no idea if he did.
God rest, if Jim names an actual voice acted right now, they're basically
going it's like a contract. It's like Jim's talent. You I'm now winning
the poop. Yeah, I'm gonna get hit by a bus when I try
to cross. So no, there's no one never even occurred. No,
no, one never came back from the UK. Where do you go.
He just never came back. Yeah, it's yeah, he uh retired.
Yeah, that's it. Now you're stuck with me for a little while hopefully.
