WWE Raw Review: CM Punk Confronts Gunther, Nikki Bella Promo, Austin Theory vs Rey Mysterio, Bayley vs Perez

<v Speaker 2>As we go through Monday Night Raw here, I should
<v Speaker 2>be an abbreviated version, as Christmas is certainly taking over
<v Speaker 2>my tasks in life, and I'm sure yours as well.
<v Speaker 2>And I hope all of you have a very merry
<v Speaker 2>Christmas and it's not too stressful. And we're here right
<v Speaker 2>those of you that are parents, we made it. We
<v Speaker 2>made it, and I hope it is an enjoyable one
<v Speaker 2>for you and your family. Now we've got a lot
<v Speaker 2>to talk about with money Net Raw. Despite this likely
<v Speaker 2>being an abbreviated version, this past Raw wasn't particularly exciting.
<v Speaker 1>I have to say.
<v Speaker 2>It wasn't a jaw dropping episode of Raw, very much
<v Speaker 2>in line with the end of the year shows for wrestling, which,
<v Speaker 2>as I talked about over the last several weeks, Sir
<v Speaker 2>very ho hum. Usually things really kick off in a
<v Speaker 2>big way on the first Raw in January which is
<v Speaker 2>clearly the case this year. There's a championship match that
<v Speaker 2>could but unlikely result in a new world champion, with
<v Speaker 2>Brown Breaker taking on Cmpunk. It's the debut episode of
<v Speaker 2>Raw on Netflix, the one year anniversary of Raw going
<v Speaker 2>to Netflix, so there's a lot that they're going to
<v Speaker 2>try to dump on that episode Raw on top of
<v Speaker 2>it being in New York City. You know, they always
<v Speaker 2>put their best foot forward in the big markets as well,
<v Speaker 2>So not only is there a championship match, there's going
<v Speaker 2>to be surprises, likely returns, maybe even a brock Lesnar appearance,
<v Speaker 2>a real solid build towards the Royal Rumble that'll be
<v Speaker 2>in full swing at that point. So if we can
<v Speaker 2>hang in there for one more episode of Raw, then
<v Speaker 2>we'll be off and running for the Royal Rumble. Now,
<v Speaker 2>one more thing, if you guys want to go add free,

<v Speaker 2>So let's talk about money at RAW. We'll just start
<v Speaker 2>at the top of the show, and it started with
<v Speaker 2>a recap of last week's Logan Paul Riemasterial main event
<v Speaker 2>that saw interference by Austin Theory and Paul Hayman told
<v Speaker 2>bron Breaker and Bronson reed to get out of the cold.
<v Speaker 2>Haman told him that he had this him had approached
<v Speaker 2>Austin Theory, who was standing by, and asked him what
<v Speaker 2>the hell he was doing. Theory said he wanted people
<v Speaker 2>to feel his actions before he revealed himself, and he
<v Speaker 2>said he got comfortable and made some bad decisions and
<v Speaker 2>got hurt. Theory said he saw the Vision and they
<v Speaker 2>don't went for anything, they take, which is what he's
<v Speaker 2>going to do now, and said he knew the Vision
<v Speaker 2>had a match that he'd love to help out, and
<v Speaker 2>Paul Hammon just said, interesting, that was it. So Theory
<v Speaker 2>didn't have a ton to say other than just he
<v Speaker 2>wants to be a part of the group. He likes
<v Speaker 2>their style. Essentially. It it doesn't seem at this moment that
<v Speaker 2>there's a strategic reason why he attacked people. He did,
<v Speaker 2>you know, I had been thinking that maybe there is
<v Speaker 2>a reason why Raymisteria was attacked and why Seth Roland,
<v Speaker 2>or rather why seam Punk was attacked at Survivor series.
<v Speaker 2>It just seems he's just trying to get in the
<v Speaker 2>good graces of the group and join seems like that's
<v Speaker 2>the deal. Well, not a big reaction for Theory, but
<v Speaker 2>there shouldn't be an expectation of a big reaction for Theory.
<v Speaker 2>He hasn't really done much. Yes, he's the essential and
<v Speaker 2>kind of anticipated new member of the Vision, but he's
<v Speaker 2>not exactly and hasn't been exactly a big star over
<v Speaker 2>the last several years. So not a big shock there,
<v Speaker 2>but I'm still on board for it. I'm not not
<v Speaker 2>sure how you guys are feeling about it. Yes, we're
<v Speaker 2>only a week in and we got a match later
<v Speaker 2>in the night with Raymisterio and Austin Theory. We'll talk
<v Speaker 2>about that a little bit later, So either way, I'm
<v Speaker 2>still intriguing and a decent start to raw. And we
<v Speaker 2>then had Rihea Ripley and Osca one on one. The
<v Speaker 2>match one eleven minutes, with Oscar beating Rhea Ripley. Now,
<v Speaker 2>the finish, as expected, did not have Rhea Ripley lose
<v Speaker 2>clean because EO. Sky comes out with tape on her
<v Speaker 2>back after she was attacked and she sky climb climbed
<v Speaker 2>onto the apron spoke to the ref. That's when Kyrie
<v Speaker 2>tripped Sky, who landed hard on the Apron and sold
<v Speaker 2>her back pain. And when Rhea went to check on Sky,
<v Speaker 2>that's when Oscar rolled up Ripley and got the one
<v Speaker 2>two three. So Ray Ripley loses, not a big deal.
<v Speaker 2>Ripley can take a loss, especially a loss like that,
<v Speaker 2>and Osca and her team need a little bit of momentum,
<v Speaker 2>I think, get a little heat. Really kind of basic
<v Speaker 2>psychology here, So the matchless good. I mean, Ripley and
<v Speaker 2>Osca could go twenty minutes. They have a lot of
<v Speaker 2>experience together. These are two veterans. You know that this
<v Speaker 2>match quality is not going to ever be in question,
<v Speaker 2>and it wasn't here. But it wasn't about really rip
<v Speaker 2>losing so much as it was trying to give Oscar
<v Speaker 2>a little bit more heat, and I think mischild accomplished.
<v Speaker 2>All right, We then have, let's see here some backstage stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Dupre was shown walking backstage. Cole set up footage for
<v Speaker 2>Gunther's promo from last week, and Cole also hyped at
<v Speaker 2>WWE Unreal season two that's premiering on January twentieth. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I don't have any interest in that. One other thing.
<v Speaker 2>If you guys heard me on my last show that
<v Speaker 2>I did for the week in review. I really was
<v Speaker 2>not particularly exciting with some of the things John Cenas
<v Speaker 2>said on Cody Roads podcast. And it continues really with
<v Speaker 2>John cena a couple of things here, saying that he
<v Speaker 2>knows that the fans want the curtain pulled back more,
<v Speaker 2>he knows that there there's a need for that, or
<v Speaker 2>the fans are asking for that. What fans are asking
<v Speaker 2>for that? And also what curtain is left to pull back?
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I don't think the demand is coming from fans.
<v Speaker 2>The fans want the magic, and you can't have the
<v Speaker 2>magic if the curtain is constantly pulled back all the time.
<v Speaker 2>Seen it even alluded to the fact that he talks
<v Speaker 2>a lot during the match and they may end up
<v Speaker 2>putting in the mic work during the matches in unreal
<v Speaker 2>Do that make sense? I hope maybe I didn't say
<v Speaker 2>that right. So, as you know, the wrestlers talk during
<v Speaker 2>the match to call the match. Not every spot, but
<v Speaker 2>most matches have bigger spots that are talked through during
<v Speaker 2>the match and ad lib moments, and they're thinking of
<v Speaker 2>it seems like putting the mike the audio from the
<v Speaker 2>guys who are in the ring calling the matches that
<v Speaker 2>Mic work into the unreal show, which I think is
<v Speaker 2>just horrific. I don't need to hear that. Well, why
<v Speaker 2>are we trying to take away the magic? Even if
<v Speaker 2>I was we And I don't believe this is truly
<v Speaker 2>an organic need from fans. I really don't. There has
<v Speaker 2>to me. I'm a fan, and I haven't heard a
<v Speaker 2>lot of Like man, I wish I knew how this
<v Speaker 2>whole thing worked. No, I think truly that it's TKO
<v Speaker 2>moving away from pro wrestling, which Vince already did decades ago,
<v Speaker 2>from traditional pro wrestling, I should say, and really distancing
<v Speaker 2>themselves from Vince, from pro wrestling and just straight entertainment.
<v Speaker 2>That's which again, pro wrestling is entertainment. But the idea
<v Speaker 2>that they're in anywhere near Vince or anything near what
<v Speaker 2>he did, or that they're a wrestling company, they're trying
<v Speaker 2>to move away from that. So they're trying to I
<v Speaker 2>think they are just simply trying to manufacture a need
<v Speaker 2>from fans which doesn't exist, to give them an inside
<v Speaker 2>look at the business on an even deeper level that
<v Speaker 2>no one for If that makes sense, maybe it doesn't.
<v Speaker 2>The second thing that Johnsen has said, and I should
<v Speaker 2>have just pulled up the audio, but I'm just honestly
<v Speaker 2>too lazy because I'm tired of hell Is Johnson. If
<v Speaker 2>you and this is about an hour and twenty minutes
<v Speaker 2>into the interview with Cody Rhodes, I will say I
<v Speaker 2>would never. And I'm being genuine when I say this,
<v Speaker 2>because people say, no, you wouldn't. You're such a no.
<v Speaker 2>If Johnsena called me right now, he's like, hey, man,
<v Speaker 2>I really want you in my circle. I want you
<v Speaker 2>to be one of my friends in my circle, I
<v Speaker 2>would turn him down. I know that sounds insane, because
<v Speaker 2>John Cena seems like a likable guy in the ring,
<v Speaker 2>very personable, until you, of course, you hear him speak
<v Speaker 2>in an interview where he's all buttoned up and Cody Road,
<v Speaker 2>mister pocket Watch is sitting there and they are I mean,
<v Speaker 2>I don't find them relatable at all, especially John Cena,
<v Speaker 2>because if you listen to that interview and you go
<v Speaker 2>through the whole thing, he's talking about this this little
<v Speaker 2>circle of friends that he has where when they get together,
<v Speaker 2>he goes, you know, I'll talk about the weather in
<v Speaker 2>sports for a hot minute, but I just really want
<v Speaker 2>to learn and I really should have pulled up the audio.
<v Speaker 2>It's really unbelievable. It's the most unappealing club that I'd
<v Speaker 2>ever want to be a part of. You couldn't design
<v Speaker 2>a worse, worst description for me to be convinced to
<v Speaker 2>join this, this inner group, this club, this in crowd.
<v Speaker 2>I don't give a damn what it is. And he's
<v Speaker 2>saying how when they get together they He's like, I
<v Speaker 2>want to learn, I want to listen. It's a lost
<v Speaker 2>art and how they get together and everyone goes around
<v Speaker 2>the table when they're at dinner, I guess, and everyone
<v Speaker 2>has to say something that you know they learned. And
<v Speaker 2>if you're new to the group, you just say cheers.
<v Speaker 2>And but you listen to you know, if there's eighteen people,
<v Speaker 2>you listen to seventeen stories. And it's like, are you
<v Speaker 2>e fing kidding? I'm not joking when I say this,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not. I don't mean to turn this into a
<v Speaker 2>John Scena ramp. But the more I learned about John
<v Speaker 2>Cena and is like his off camera life he is.
<v Speaker 2>He disinterests me on a like on a very deep level.
<v Speaker 2>In ring Yeah, sure, whatever, great and one of the
<v Speaker 2>greatest of all time outside the ring. This guy sounds
<v Speaker 2>like a nightmare, an absolute nightmare.
<v Speaker 1>He is.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, you talk about controlling and just very much.
<v Speaker 2>It seems like everything has to It seems like he
<v Speaker 2>can't even like relax, or at least he puts on
<v Speaker 2>a front that he can't ever relax. Could you imagine
<v Speaker 2>being in a group, Imagine your circle of fronts, whoever
<v Speaker 2>they may be, right, everyone has and seemingly as we
<v Speaker 2>get older, our friend circle shrinks because we're all busy
<v Speaker 2>and we're like, oh well, we'll see you, you know,
<v Speaker 2>maybe we should make plans and whatever makes plans. But
<v Speaker 2>imagine your circle of friends and they're like, hey, guys,
<v Speaker 2>let's get together to and whatever you normally do. You
<v Speaker 2>go out and do somebody say it's going out to dinner, right,
<v Speaker 2>And then at the dinner table, everyone's saying, you know,
<v Speaker 2>you know what, guys, let's all raise our glasses and
<v Speaker 2>everyone go around the table and talk about something that
<v Speaker 2>you've learned in your life that has deep meaning to you.
<v Speaker 2>I would, I mean I seriously, I would like seriously
<v Speaker 2>say f this p like I'm out. I don't even
<v Speaker 2>know if I'd say anything. I would just get the
<v Speaker 2>hell out of there like it sounds like an absolute,
<v Speaker 2>just unequivocalle It is my personal hell. I mean, I'm
<v Speaker 2>not even kidding when I said, go listen to the interview,
<v Speaker 2>so I'll stop there. And as I listen to this
<v Speaker 2>more and more, it's really just eye opening into who
<v Speaker 2>John Seena is. I know he's very calculated, has his
<v Speaker 2>corporate responses are now just built into his brain in
<v Speaker 2>terms of how he responds to things. So it's corporate
<v Speaker 2>speak on top of nightmare. And I'm not saying everything
<v Speaker 2>he's just he doesn't seem like an actual bad person,
<v Speaker 2>but I have to say too his response to you
<v Speaker 2>know why you know, why don't you want kids, which
<v Speaker 2>someone asked him. It wasn't during the Cody interview. At
<v Speaker 2>least I didn't hear it in the video I've watched,
<v Speaker 2>but in one of the pre shows or something he
<v Speaker 2>was doing one of the q and a's with fans
<v Speaker 2>directly about a month or two ago, someone out at
<v Speaker 2>right asked him, Hey, why don't you want kids or
<v Speaker 2>do you ever want kids? And John Cena essentially said, well,
<v Speaker 2>from what I understand, kids need to be looked after, right,
<v Speaker 2>meaning they take time, and he in a very very
<v Speaker 2>You want to hear someone talk about in a corporate
<v Speaker 2>way to say, I just don't want to prioritize my
<v Speaker 2>time for other for anyone else but me. That's essentially
<v Speaker 2>what he said. It is about a ten minute answer
<v Speaker 2>to say exactly what I just said, I don't want
<v Speaker 2>my time to be prioritized for anyone else but me
<v Speaker 2>and my projects and my wants. I know he did
<v Speaker 2>obviously not say it that way, but he said it
<v Speaker 2>in that way, sanitized in corporate speak. And look, not
<v Speaker 2>everybody needs to desire children or have children. Some people
<v Speaker 2>can't have children, but it usually is, usually is a
<v Speaker 2>biological desire built into our brains, men and women. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>that's just that's how we survive as a species. If
<v Speaker 2>we didn't have that desire built in, we would go
<v Speaker 2>extinct fairly quick. Within about one hundred years, we'd all
<v Speaker 2>be gone and with no trace of us left except
<v Speaker 2>bones and a few buildings that would crumble in about
<v Speaker 2>you know, a few hundred years. So it's built in.
<v Speaker 2>But for John Cena, he may have that desire, but
<v Speaker 2>he pushes it aside for his own desires in life,
<v Speaker 2>and hey, to each his own, obviously, you don't have
<v Speaker 2>to do anything in life when it comes to children.
<v Speaker 2>You don't have to have kids, obviously, but it kind
<v Speaker 2>of is. It's a window into John Cena himself for
<v Speaker 2>all the selfless things he says he wants to do
<v Speaker 2>and give back. And is there anything less selfish though
<v Speaker 2>than dedicating part of your life to raising another human
<v Speaker 2>being and also trying to carry your legacy forward, having
<v Speaker 2>a bloodline that could come after you and talk about
<v Speaker 2>how dad was one of the greatest of all time
<v Speaker 2>and have that share that legacy and those stories with
<v Speaker 2>someone that you helped create. I mean, hey, I know
<v Speaker 2>that I'm not trying to dive into traditional male and
<v Speaker 2>female roles and all that kind of stuff, which you
<v Speaker 2>can probably guess where I land on that. But I'm
<v Speaker 2>just talking about John Cena himself. He the more I
<v Speaker 2>learned about him, and we're going to continue to learn
<v Speaker 2>more because I think he's going to do a little
<v Speaker 2>bit of the Undertaker type of road and do more
<v Speaker 2>interviews and more stories, which is going to be fun.
<v Speaker 2>But hearing him speak, he needs to just break out
<v Speaker 2>of this and speak like a human being and not
<v Speaker 2>this robotic corporate cutout. That's what he is and yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I mean again, I have respect for him inside the ring,
<v Speaker 2>but I can't stand to listen to him. He says
<v Speaker 2>a whole lot of nothing in twenty minutes, and you
<v Speaker 2>have to really dig out what a normal speaking person
<v Speaker 2>would say and just you put it through a filter like, oh, yeah, okay,
<v Speaker 2>that's what he's saying. But he says big words and
<v Speaker 2>he elaborates on things that don't need to be elaborated
<v Speaker 2>on to try to mask the real message that he's delivering.
<v Speaker 2>That's what he does. He's a master at it, and
<v Speaker 2>people are fooled by it. I'm not saying I'm smarter
<v Speaker 2>than anybody else, but I've seen enough corporate speak over
<v Speaker 2>my years, not just in watching wrestling, but really in
<v Speaker 2>my own personal life and my own job outside of this. Right,
<v Speaker 2>I've seen it. We all can feel it. It's just
<v Speaker 2>like something right. So that's tangent number one for the night.
<v Speaker 2>I've got another one coming. Don't worry, I've got another
<v Speaker 2>one coming. But let's continue back to mond a night raw.
<v Speaker 2>We had Becky Lynch come out and she's claimed to
<v Speaker 2>be the real Women's Intercontinental Champion and said she's tired
<v Speaker 2>of the facade and spoke of having powerful lawyers, and
<v Speaker 2>Maxine Dupree comes out and she conceded that Lynch is
<v Speaker 2>the greatest of all time while she's just a rookie.
<v Speaker 2>But she reminded her that the rookie beat the greatest
<v Speaker 2>of all time, and she said she's not just the
<v Speaker 2>fansy icy champ, she's Lynch's icy Champ. And she said
<v Speaker 2>she wanted to hear Lynch concede that. Dupree said Lynch
<v Speaker 2>didn't like the greatest of all time. She looked like
<v Speaker 2>someone who's afraid of her best years being behind her.
<v Speaker 2>That's when Lynch snapped, and Lynch threw some punches and
<v Speaker 2>Lynch took the title bell held it over the apron.
<v Speaker 2>She returned to continue to attack, but Dupree took her
<v Speaker 2>down and put her in an ankle lock, which eventually
<v Speaker 2>led to having Becky Lynch's tap obviously not a match,
<v Speaker 2>but in a symbolic kind of like, you know, oh,
<v Speaker 2>if the title was on the line here, she would
<v Speaker 2>have you know, she would have retained the belt here.
<v Speaker 2>But it's fine, and you know what we have. We
<v Speaker 2>have the announcers back in Dupree talking about you know,
<v Speaker 2>having her put in the work, which is true. We
<v Speaker 2>all know that Maxine has put in the work. She's
<v Speaker 2>shown a lot of improvement. The fans are behind her.
<v Speaker 2>She's a feel good story. Becky Lynch is playing her
<v Speaker 2>role very well. I've enjoyed this version of Becky more
<v Speaker 2>than her previous heel runs, certainly more than her last one,
<v Speaker 2>which was just obnoxious. This one feels more organic. It doesn't.
<v Speaker 2>It's not like she's changing her you know, the substance
<v Speaker 2>of her character. She's just being a whiney, sore loser
<v Speaker 2>and adding her own spin to it. And she's doing
<v Speaker 2>I think well, and I think this rival will continue.
<v Speaker 2>I don't think Becky Lynch will regain the Intercontinental title.
<v Speaker 2>Maccine likely is going to continue with it. I doubt
<v Speaker 2>she'll make it to WrestleMania. Probably will lose it early
<v Speaker 2>in twenty twenty one, or I'm sorry, twenty twenty one,
<v Speaker 2>my god, where the hell am I? In twenty twenty six,
<v Speaker 2>she'll certainly lose it. I think there maybe at the
<v Speaker 2>Rumble or shortly after, and it'll be some kind of
<v Speaker 2>multi woman match for the Intercontinental title heading into WrestleMania.
<v Speaker 2>But it's a fun story for Duprio. I'm curious to
<v Speaker 2>see how far this wave will take her. She has
<v Speaker 2>done much better as we all know over the last
<v Speaker 2>several months. Okay, we have then Javon Evans versus Reo
<v Speaker 2>and El Grande Americano and Bravo or with him. The
<v Speaker 2>match went six minutes in fifty seconds, with Javon Evans
<v Speaker 2>beating Reo in a fun match despite the fact that
<v Speaker 2>it's six minutes and fifty seconds. I think they use
<v Speaker 2>their time wisely. The finish had Reo catching Evans with
<v Speaker 2>a step up in zaguri. Evans came right back with
<v Speaker 2>a twisting kick that Reo appeared to duck away from
<v Speaker 2>but still led to a two count. Evans went for
<v Speaker 2>a springboard move and was caught by a rail punch,
<v Speaker 2>and then Evans avoided Rayo's move from the ropes and
<v Speaker 2>then hit him with the O G cutter to get
<v Speaker 2>the victory. And after the match, aw Grande Americano and
<v Speaker 2>Bravo tried to go after Evans, who escaped. Good match,
<v Speaker 2>Good match. I am kind of over the Grande Americano stuff.
<v Speaker 2>That was fun while it lasted, but it's it's over.
<v Speaker 2>They're continuing it, and it's fine something for them to
<v Speaker 2>do with Ludwig Kaiser and whoever else wants to be
<v Speaker 2>behind the mask to get a paycheck that night. But
<v Speaker 2>I think this is really about Javon Evans, who is
<v Speaker 2>a I mean where this do? I mean? He defies gravity,
<v Speaker 2>the things he can do Javon Evans is to say
<v Speaker 2>athlete is an insult to insult to him. I think
<v Speaker 2>he's on another level man, he imagined. Imagine this matchup, ready,
<v Speaker 2>Logan Paul versus Javon Evans a twenty minute match, or
<v Speaker 2>how about a thirty minute Iron Man match. But Javon
<v Speaker 2>Evans versus Logan Paul. Now we're nowhere near that. We
<v Speaker 2>got a lot of steps to go. They are not
<v Speaker 2>even in the right roles. Both are, you know, in
<v Speaker 2>different kind of places in their careers. But just from
<v Speaker 2>an athletics standpoint, you talk about the future of the company.
<v Speaker 2>Here a potential future two of the most athletic guys
<v Speaker 2>that the company has right now. That's something that I
<v Speaker 2>know that most people aren't thinking about Javon Evans as
<v Speaker 2>a you know, a main eventor but he easily could be.
<v Speaker 2>Obafemi obviously is taking front and center into man. That'd
<v Speaker 2>be fun when he comes to the main roster. But
<v Speaker 2>Javon Evans don't overlook him. I think he could be
<v Speaker 2>a sneaky type of main eventor that kind of creeps
<v Speaker 2>in over the next year or so. Montes Ford better
<v Speaker 2>make a move. I'm thinking of these athletic guys that
<v Speaker 2>it's just like, what are they doing? Montes Ford, man,
<v Speaker 2>We've been talking about that for years. He better make
<v Speaker 2>his move. Ww we better make his move to see
<v Speaker 2>what he's got because Javon Evans, I think, is like
<v Speaker 2>a newer model of montes Ford, more muscular. I think,
<v Speaker 2>dare I say, even more athletic than montes Ford. That's
<v Speaker 2>a hell of a high bar. All right, I'm going off,
<v Speaker 2>So let's continue. We have Let's see a bron Breaker
<v Speaker 2>video promo. Air Breaker mocked Punk's the line about being
<v Speaker 2>in WWE to make money. He told him he hoped
<v Speaker 2>he saved his money because Punk wouldn't be worth a dollar.

<v Speaker 2>by taunting the crowd and Detroit Lions, and she you know,
<v Speaker 2>some pro Ohio state line and stuff. But Nicki told
<v Speaker 2>the fans not to forget she's a legend before dropping
<v Speaker 2>off the table. And that was that she acted like
<v Speaker 2>she was the biggest star. She's a legend. Of course,
<v Speaker 2>it's all ridiculous. She may have some name value, but
<v Speaker 2>having name value doesn't make you a legend, just makes
<v Speaker 2>you recognizable to an average person. I still don't believe that.
<v Speaker 2>If you end up to a non wrestling fan and said,
<v Speaker 2>do you know Nicki Bella, they probably would still go
<v Speaker 2>who They might have say name sounds familiar, but I
<v Speaker 2>can't put a face with it. I think that would
<v Speaker 2>be most of the responses. So Nicki Bella, I mean,
<v Speaker 2>does she really believe she's a legend? Prop Probably she
<v Speaker 2>probably believes her own hype that she's actually a trailblazer.
<v Speaker 2>I've gone over that a million times. But to her credit,
<v Speaker 2>I think this is a bounce back promo. It's a nice,
<v Speaker 2>concise heal promo. She changed her outfit going to traditional
<v Speaker 2>evil black. It's good. It was good. That's I mean.

<v Speaker 2>I give Nikki, it was just it was just good.
<v Speaker 2>It was good and what it needed. Her cadence in
<v Speaker 2>delivering promos still isn't the greatest, but it's fine. It
<v Speaker 2>did what it needed to do. So then we have
<v Speaker 2>Bailey take on Roxanne Perez live Morgan's at ringside as
<v Speaker 2>well as Lyra of Valkyria. The match only went seven
<v Speaker 2>minutes and forty seconds, which I was hoping for more,
<v Speaker 2>but at least we got a match, a singles match
<v Speaker 2>with Bailey in it, which is nice. Roxanne as well,
<v Speaker 2>but the match went as follows as far as the
<v Speaker 2>finish goes. Rodriguez shows up at ringside. Morgan distracts the
<v Speaker 2>referee while Perez moved a turnbuckle pad and Bailey's head
<v Speaker 2>ran into it, and then Perez made the cover, but
<v Speaker 2>Rodriguez stood on the apron and argued with the ref
<v Speaker 2>until Morgan pulled her down. Perez and Morgan confronted Rodriguez
<v Speaker 2>until Lyra drove from the broadcast a dole from the
<v Speaker 2>broadcast table onto Morgan and Rodriguez. That's when Bailey hulked
<v Speaker 2>up by having Lyra slap her in the face. That's
<v Speaker 2>when Bailey smiled and hulked up, and then she attacked
<v Speaker 2>Perez and hit her with an elbow dropped for the victory.
<v Speaker 2>So the match was okay, it wasn't the smoothest match,
<v Speaker 2>according to this Unpro Wrestling Net credit to those guys
<v Speaker 2>for this whole review here. They said the match was clunky,
<v Speaker 2>more clunkier than they would have expected from those women involved.
<v Speaker 2>But on the bright side, Valcarrias slapping Bailey to fire
<v Speaker 2>her up seems to be getting over and yeah, it's true,
<v Speaker 2>and the crowd is reacting to that. It is a
<v Speaker 2>bit silly, but we've seen dumber things in WWE. This
<v Speaker 2>is better than where they were going with the Bailey stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Remember when she was first starting out with us a
<v Speaker 2>couple months ago, sitting in a room and we could
<v Speaker 2>somehow hear what's in her head and we were thinking, Hey,
<v Speaker 2>how the hell does this translate in person? It can't.

<v Speaker 2>It's a great way when Bailey's down and she's blackluster
<v Speaker 2>in the match to give her, you know, like Popeyes

<v Speaker 2>and EO Rio. How about Rio. That's a cool mix.

<v Speaker 2>So big matches in Brooklyn, Big. I mean, that's a
<v Speaker 2>great way to start off the new year for WWE,
<v Speaker 2>rolling right into WrestleMania season. So we have some Judgment
<v Speaker 2>Day stuff, as you know. I don't care. I don't care.
<v Speaker 2>I'll say that every week. It's they're so boring. Yes,

<v Speaker 2>and Gunther started to head towards the stage, but Ray
<v Speaker 2>Masteriro's music stopped him, and Ray approached Gunther and spoke
<v Speaker 2>to him, which led to Gunther laughing in his face
<v Speaker 2>before heading backstage, and that's when Ray came out for
<v Speaker 2>the main event. Gunther was also smiling as he walked backstage.
<v Speaker 2>AJ approached Gunther and said, you just don't know when
<v Speaker 2>to shut up, do you, and Gunther said I guess
<v Speaker 2>I don't and then walked away. So they're clearly leading
<v Speaker 2>to an eventual attack on Guntherer, whether it's by AJ Styles.
<v Speaker 2>Eventually Cempunk versus Gunther for the world title is going
<v Speaker 2>to happen, but maybe AJ is the quick fall guy
<v Speaker 2>for the moment. I know he's with Dragon Lee and
<v Speaker 2>doing the title stuff with the Detacting Division, which is fine,
<v Speaker 2>but versus Gunther likely going to happen as well as
<v Speaker 2>Gunther versus Ray. I mean, he's he's angering all the
<v Speaker 2>baby faces for gloating about a victory, which again is
<v Speaker 2>kind of silly. He didn't. The thing is again, he
<v Speaker 2>did what he was supposed to do. He beat Johnsen.
<v Speaker 2>It you should want to and try to win every match.
<v Speaker 2>If we're supposed to believe this world of pro wrestling,
<v Speaker 2>you should want to and gloating about it. That's been
<v Speaker 2>done what millions of times. Like in pro wrestling, when
<v Speaker 2>you win a match, you gloat about it, especially if
<v Speaker 2>you beat a really big name, you should gloat about it.
<v Speaker 2>You'd be a fool not to. It would be detrimental
<v Speaker 2>to your career, it would make no sense for the
<v Speaker 2>booking all the rest. And he didn't do anything over
<v Speaker 2>the top. He made Johnson to tap. He did, and
<v Speaker 2>I don't care that their tummy's hurt because Gunther is
<v Speaker 2>gloating about it. You know, so what Guntherer did who
<v Speaker 2>is supposed to do, made him tap. He didn't go
<v Speaker 2>over the top and attack him in his home and
<v Speaker 2>bloody him and try to break his neck or you know,
<v Speaker 2>try to attack one of his family members or anything.
<v Speaker 2>He just beat him straight up in a match. Fairly,
<v Speaker 2>I might add, no low blows, no objects, no ring,
<v Speaker 2>you know, turnbuckles taken off, none of that, nothing behind
<v Speaker 2>the referece back. He just straight up beat him. So anyway,
<v Speaker 2>the baby Faces don't have much to stand out other
<v Speaker 2>than no, I do. I don't like when you continue
<v Speaker 2>to laugh about this. No, I don't like that. That
<v Speaker 2>makes me angry. That's essentially what the baby faces are saying.
<v Speaker 2>I'm one hundred percent on Gunther's side here, and I
<v Speaker 2>also appreciate that WWE it's continuing to own this. They're
<v Speaker 2>not trying to hide from it. They're owning this. I
<v Speaker 2>appreciate that because you should. You don't have another option.
<v Speaker 2>You don't have another option. The other option would have
<v Speaker 2>been complete disaster of having Gunther be quiet about it,
<v Speaker 2>not saying much on the mic, just coming out and
<v Speaker 2>having matches every week in fifty to fifty booking. That'd
<v Speaker 2>be ridiculous. But here we are, so I like what
<v Speaker 2>they're doing so far, and you can kind of see
<v Speaker 2>the guys lining up that are gonna eventually face Gun there.
<v Speaker 2>All right, then we get the main event here. I'm sorry,
<v Speaker 2>we get I thought we hit the main event. We
<v Speaker 2>got see him punk In, ray Masterio. Oh it was
<v Speaker 2>it was the main event. I'm sorry. Uh, ray Masterio
<v Speaker 2>and Punk versus Bronson Read and Austin Theory, and the
<v Speaker 2>match went fifteen minutes with Bronson Reading and Austin Theory
<v Speaker 2>beating punk In Ray Maisterio as they should have. You're
<v Speaker 2>got not gonna have Austin Theory lose here in his
<v Speaker 2>first match back with a reset of his character being
<v Speaker 2>you know, front and center of controversy of who's the
<v Speaker 2>mask Man and all the rest, even though everyone knew
<v Speaker 2>you gotta have Austin Theory win, and again he did.
<v Speaker 2>Now the finish, we have Ray tag in and got
<v Speaker 2>Read in a position for a six one nine, but
<v Speaker 2>Theory tagged himself in and cut off Ray with a
<v Speaker 2>closed line. Ray eventually hit Theory with a six one
<v Speaker 2>nine and then dropped a dime on him and had
<v Speaker 2>him beat but Reid pulled Ray to the floor and
<v Speaker 2>put him down. Punk went after Reid and hit him
<v Speaker 2>with a clothes line and sent both men tumbling to
<v Speaker 2>the timekeepers area in the ring. Ray went up top,
<v Speaker 2>but Theory crotched him on the top turnbuckle and then
<v Speaker 2>hit Ray with the stomp and pinned him. So good
<v Speaker 2>all some other We'll get to the aftermatch stuff in
<v Speaker 2>a second, but Theory should have got the victory he
<v Speaker 2>did with a Seth rollin stomp. You're you're wondering too
<v Speaker 2>what they're setting up for upon Seth's return in a
<v Speaker 2>few months. What are they setting up for with with
<v Speaker 2>Austin Theory stomping Raymistereo just taking Seth's move? Why is
<v Speaker 2>he taking Seth's move? They haven't explained that is, what's
<v Speaker 2>the motivation behind that? Why is Austin Theory using? I
<v Speaker 2>don't have an issue with it. It's a great finish,
<v Speaker 2>but is there something leading to eventually when Seth returns
<v Speaker 2>Austin Theory versus Seth or like what? Or maybe not initially,
<v Speaker 2>but there's got to be some connection there as to
<v Speaker 2>why the stomp is being utilized by Austin theory instead
<v Speaker 2>of his old finish. But again, it looks like Seth
<v Speaker 2>is coming back. Maybe March March it'd be. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>we can count out the world Rumbel unfortunately I would
<v Speaker 2>love to see too. But it looks like it's going
<v Speaker 2>to be probably March, right before WrestleMania. So that's good.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, his injury couldn't have been timed better. If
<v Speaker 2>you're going to do an injury, you make sure it's
<v Speaker 2>going to be in time for Mania. Now that's, of course,
<v Speaker 2>assuming no setbacks, which hopefully there's not. All right, bron
<v Speaker 2>Breaker then come in comes in and attacks Punk and
<v Speaker 2>he eventually gets a spear and that's it. That's fine.
<v Speaker 2>I mean again, good show, kind of a a little
<v Speaker 2>bit of a average i'd say, slightly above average. But
<v Speaker 2>I've seen in the past here, I mean, we've seen
<v Speaker 2>horrific holiday shows from w W A really bad and
<v Speaker 2>under the Vince McMahon regime, and some of them were
<v Speaker 2>just throwaway why even bother shows, So when I put
<v Speaker 2>it in that context, this is actually a pretty decent
<v Speaker 2>show when we look at the typical bar set for
<v Speaker 2>WWE holiday shows. But all right, so that pretty much
<v Speaker 2>covered Raw. One thing, as I mentioned earlier, that I
<v Speaker 2>want to talk about not really related to RAW, but
<v Speaker 2>just the general statement about WWE and its talent and
<v Speaker 2>the use of social media from talent and where we
<v Speaker 2>are generally with the culture, and as far as the
<v Speaker 2>culture relating to the wrestlers and what they're trying to
<v Speaker 2>do with their fame or their attention on television and
<v Speaker 2>on social media. My thinking is, and this is also
<v Speaker 2>I think you could apply this to any public position
<v Speaker 2>or public official that is in the limelight that gets
<v Speaker 2>a lot of attention. There I think are and I
<v Speaker 2>haven't gone through the roster, but in today's day and age,
<v Speaker 2>where for better or worse. And you may not particularly
<v Speaker 2>prescribe to this belief, but I think generally the overarching
<v Speaker 2>theme is that we as a culture value social media.
<v Speaker 2>I think to it, I think to a just detrimental level.
<v Speaker 2>But how many followers you have, how many likes you have,
<v Speaker 2>is a very important thing when you're on social media,
<v Speaker 2>and when you get a little bit of attention outside
<v Speaker 2>of social media and you're able to bring that into
<v Speaker 2>social media. I think a lot of what is happening
<v Speaker 2>is people that are in public positions or on the
<v Speaker 2>public stage, whether it's a again, an elected official, a
<v Speaker 2>sports star, a pro wrestler, what they're chasing is not
<v Speaker 2>necessarily being the best in their field. What they're chasing
<v Speaker 2>is being a social media influencer. And I'm not saying everybody.
<v Speaker 2>Let me just be clear, I'm not saying every wrestler
<v Speaker 2>is trying to do this. I'm not saying that that
<v Speaker 2>they don't have any motivation to actually be a star
<v Speaker 2>or to carry the company and to be a professional
<v Speaker 2>wrestler and be champion. But with how much is being
<v Speaker 2>posted on social media by especially, I got to call
<v Speaker 2>it out the women, all right. The men, to some
<v Speaker 2>degree too, are attention whorse, but but the women. It's
<v Speaker 2>easier to post something on social media and get a
<v Speaker 2>ton of attention because your primary audience is men. It's men.
<v Speaker 2>Key demo eighteen to forty is still your key demo.
<v Speaker 2>A vast majority of wrestling fans are men, which means
<v Speaker 2>all you got to do is post a half naked
<v Speaker 2>picture of yourself and then put some inspirational quote up
<v Speaker 2>to try to disguise it as not attention seeking. And
<v Speaker 2>it's not supposed to be sexual in nature, but it
<v Speaker 2>is and we all know it is, and men will
<v Speaker 2>like it and comment, oh my god, like you know,
<v Speaker 2>and they'll break the internet quote unquote. And I think
<v Speaker 2>even Nikki Bella, you can go back and listen to
<v Speaker 2>her on her podcast a couple of weeks ago, when
<v Speaker 2>the idea of having her sleeping with fans, remember that
<v Speaker 2>controversy that someone accused her of sleeping with fans. She
<v Speaker 2>even admitted not to the sleeping with fans, but admitted
<v Speaker 2>to that you know, when she feels bad or down
<v Speaker 2>about herself, she'll put little something up on social media
<v Speaker 2>to make herself feel better about her life essentially, and yeah,
<v Speaker 2>because she knows the kind of a tension it'll get.
<v Speaker 2>And I think that that again, that in and of
<v Speaker 2>itself is an issue. But when we have wrestlers, we
<v Speaker 2>have anybody in public positions that are trying to be
<v Speaker 2>social media stars and not trying to be the best
<v Speaker 2>in their field, I think that's a problem because they're
<v Speaker 2>chasing the attention and not the profession.

<v Speaker 2>And and you know, we can't read the minds of people,
<v Speaker 2>will never know truly what they're thinking, what their true
<v Speaker 2>motivations are. But we can only read their actions and
<v Speaker 2>not that every post on social media is supposed to
<v Speaker 2>be going against the idea that they don't want to
<v Speaker 2>be there and they're just for the attention and the
<v Speaker 2>fame and the social media followers. But here's the here's
<v Speaker 2>the the kicker the test. If you were to offer
<v Speaker 2>some of these men and women on the roster h
<v Speaker 2>from NXT developmental on AU were to offer them five
<v Speaker 2>million I don't know, Twitter or Instagram followers, or they
<v Speaker 2>could become w WE champion. I have a sneaking suspicion
<v Speaker 2>that a lot of them would decide to go with
<v Speaker 2>the five million Instagram followers instantly, because we live in
<v Speaker 2>a culture where we value the number of people following
<v Speaker 2>us on our social media accounts, and your worth is
<v Speaker 2>somehow tied to the number of followers and likes you
<v Speaker 2>get from random people you've never met all over the world.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know how many. But if you were to
<v Speaker 2>give them truth serum and do it in a place
<v Speaker 2>where you know, obviously the company couldn't hear the real response,
<v Speaker 2>I bet you there would be a significant number that
<v Speaker 2>would trade what they're doing now and give it all
<v Speaker 2>up for an instant five million Instagram followers, and it's
<v Speaker 2>just the culture where it's it's the culture we're in,
<v Speaker 2>and we're in an attention seeking culture that again puts
<v Speaker 2>a lot of value I think on superficial things and
<v Speaker 2>people we've never met in the opinions of people we've
<v Speaker 2>never met somehow are important and that they shouldn't be.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, unless you're we then you should listen to
<v Speaker 2>your consumer as a whole. You should know what they
<v Speaker 2>want and what they're after. But I'm saying, like, if
<v Speaker 2>you're just an individual influencer or you're a public figure
<v Speaker 2>and you're chasing likes and you're worried about what people
<v Speaker 2>say online and you're putting pictures up that you know
<v Speaker 2>are just going to be attention seeking and all the
<v Speaker 2>wrong for all the wrong reasons, but you'll pretend that
<v Speaker 2>it's because, oh, I'm just a big star, when in reality,
<v Speaker 2>it's just because you're a male. You're promoting this to
<v Speaker 2>a primarily male demographic that is susceptible to the pictures
<v Speaker 2>you're putting up, and you know it, but we're all
<v Speaker 2>gonna pretend that you're not right. We all know who
<v Speaker 2>those people are that are attention seeking. I mean maybe
<v Speaker 2>I'll come up with a list to start an argument
<v Speaker 2>with people in the audience, because I'm sure you know
<v Speaker 2>people are Who's he talking about re Ripley. I'm sure
<v Speaker 2>that's a conversation for another day, But I just wanted
<v Speaker 2>to talk about overall. I think it's an issue, yes,
<v Speaker 2>and pro wrestling, but also kind of everywhere. You know,
<v Speaker 2>people are really uninterested in where they're at and the
<v Speaker 2>profession they're in. They're interested in just getting attention and
<v Speaker 2>being an influencer and having a ton of followers. It's
<v Speaker 2>kind of a weird culture. We're in nice way of
<v Speaker 2>putting it. So all right, I'll stop there because I'm
