Speaker 2: I do want to thank super producer Danny g just for being the best in the game. He gave me an update about Drake May. I want to share in a second. Oh, but I want you to stick around Fox Sports Radio Nation. Our new game Brainwave hosted by Danny G's coming up in about a few minutes. How about to say that? Okay, twenty eight twenty five minutes plus Rich's big TV game of the week. We have lots to get to this hour on Covino and Rich again live from Arizona. We're here for the Cardinals forty nine Ers game. Really to hang with some friends too and catch up and Rich to wrap up our previous conversation about Drake May. The NFL network, everyone's buzzing about it. The game was last night and he continues to dominate.

00:01:40
Speaker 1: It's all the buzz. It's all the buzz.

00:01:42
Speaker 2: NFL Network just put this that up and it says is he on an MVP path most consecutive games with eighty plus passer rating and a win prior to age twenty four since nineteen fifty Dan Marino in eighty four ten games NFL MVP Yes. Lamar Jackson in twenty nineteen eight games MVP Yes. Drake May twenty twenty five eight games MVP. Well, we're buzzing about it, we're talking about it. We'll find out. So it's clear that he is on an MVP path as we speak, but there's still a lot of season left and we're so back and forth in our opinions. Yeah, and however the wind blows in the NFL changes week tweak, but we wish him the best and it is great to see. So speaking of MVPs, before we get into your big TV Game of the week.

00:02:32
Speaker 1: And I have a thought on gambling. It says there's a few wild gambling stories and gambling's all the rage, good or bad, depending on how you look at it.

00:02:39
Speaker 2: Right, I just want to say zip it to all the boneheads out there that are still crying about cal Rowley winning the MVP, I mean losing the MVP. Aaron Judge was always the MVP. He was always your winner. He had an MVP season in every possible stat that there is.

00:03:03
Speaker 1: He led the league in most stats. Whooped he do?

00:03:08
Speaker 2: He didn't have the home run record by seven home runs and ten plus RBI.

00:03:12
Speaker 1: Judge was the MVP. What did cal Rawley have a dream season? He did? He had a dream season. He wasn't the MVP.

00:03:22
Speaker 2: But I know a lot of people are hitting up rich like behind my back personal friends. Yeah, oh man got hose like as if they really think that. What stats back that up? Besides like your own personal fandom none, none, whatsoever. And you don't grade catchers on a curve. You don't give sympathy votes for MVP since when? And everybody tried to position it so hard, like Rob Parker even said yesterday on our show, Oh the way he frames the pitches catchers the most important position. Dude, they started counting his home runs in the playoffs season.

00:03:57
Speaker 1: Since when do.

00:03:58
Speaker 2: We ever count post he's in the home runs and add him to the regular season. I don't know when you try so hard to create him as the winner of the MVP when he never was. Did he have a magical season? Did he have a season to look back on and say, man, that really was incredible?

00:04:14
Speaker 1: Yes? Did Aaron Judge put up circus numbers and was the MVP all along? One hundred percent?

00:04:21
Speaker 2: Guys, the fact that it was seventeen thirteen, you should be proud of that. That's far too close to my opinion, Aaron Judge was always the MVP. Cal Ralely just made it closer than it should have been. I mean props to him, but don't take away from Judge just to lift up a catcher who had a great year, that's all.

00:04:39
Speaker 1: It was the one thing I'll back you and not just the one thing I'll back you up in saying that just because it was a good story, great story.

00:04:48
Speaker 2: Doesn't mean it was a dude, I'm not even trying to take away from kl Rally. It was an amazing story, is a great story. He lifted the Seattle Mariners to a playoff, but Judge led the league. He didn't beat cal Raley led the league in almost every other major category that matters in today's world, in today's game, it's not even a debate.

00:05:10
Speaker 1: It's not even a debate. The good story, a good story doesn't always win because of that. Like again, the good story is like man cal Raley first of the catcher, an unassuming guy. It's a great story.

00:05:22
Speaker 2: It's a better story, cal Raleigh. What's more important for baseball? And what was deserving? Aaron Judge? Aaron Judge, heart.

00:05:31
Speaker 1: To deny it. I mean, listen, cal Rally, I know what you're saying too, Like you know sometimes there'll be a Trent Dilfer or someone that wins a super Bowl and you're like, it's clearly a one off. Yeah, yeah, Like, we don't know if this is a We don't know if it's a one off. Because cal Rally, you know, he was good, but he got like he went from good to like, holy crap.

00:05:49
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:05:50
Speaker 1: Now, now next year, if cal Raley hits fifty to sixty home runs, then we could say, my goodness, we got a you know, Carlton Fisk, Mike Piazza, cal Raley one of the grids catchers ever. But we got to make sure this isn't an anomaly. Yeah, I agree, and I don't think just because it's a good story, he should win MVP. And on the other flip side of it, for the National League fans, Yo Schwarber had a hell of a year. Juan Soto, if it was just based off of the second half, who was better than mister Soto, who's going to be show, hey everything, If show he is healthy, If he's healthy and does anything, I think he can win like the next fuse.

00:06:27
Speaker 2: It's almost crazy, you know, Congratulations to all of them. I'm not trying to take anything away from cal.

00:06:33
Speaker 1: Rawley at all.

00:06:33
Speaker 2: I really think it was a magical dream season could be a fluke.

00:06:37
Speaker 1: I'd love to see him prove us or prove me wrong there.

00:06:40
Speaker 2: But congratulations to my guy, Aaron Judge Man. He put on a show this season.

00:06:45
Speaker 1: Now, so many random little stories in the world of gambling. And listen, we're not speaking out of both sides of our mouthspeacause I think gambling's fun. I think, if done responsibly, could really be a you know, a really fun supplement to watching a game. I feel like when you got action on the game, it makes something fun even a little more exciting.

00:07:04
Speaker 2: Well, canization the Vegas guy respectfully? Yeah, I agree with you, But not everybody could handle that responsibly and that that's the issue. That's the issue. But that's who you are. Then maybe it's not for you.

00:07:17
Speaker 1: I feel like I can handle it responsibly, of course, But there's stories I'm seeing now. You don't know it's AI anymore, But Danny g you said to something where there's a airport in Italy where the baggage claim is a roulette table, like if your bag, if your bag comes out, you can guess what number your bag comes out. Is that real. If it is, it might be the busiest, is it real?

00:07:39
Speaker 4: Yeah?

00:07:39
Speaker 5: You gamble while you're on the airplane. You guess which slot your bag is going to land on, which color, which number?

00:07:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, my bag's gonna come out red sixteen. Yeah, and it comes out run sixteen.

00:07:49
Speaker 2: I don't know if you made this clear enough, but the baggage carousel looks like a roulette table.

00:07:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, and it goes around.

00:07:54
Speaker 2: It's it's got black and red and all the numbers, and the baggage carousel looks like a roulette table. So where's your bag in the land. That's actually kind of fun, man. I just didn't know if that was real or Notice.

00:08:04
Speaker 1: If you told me they did that and it was for like, I don't know, like a drink ticket on the flight or something fun, I'd say, how cool. You know what, though, you know it's on about it.

00:08:11
Speaker 2: We've gone zero to sixty so fast when it comes to what was taboo to what is?

00:08:17
Speaker 4: Uh?

00:08:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, man, it's great for everybody, it really is. It's like, yo, can we uh? That transition was really quick. The same thing with weed you always bring up to say I always say the same.

00:08:27
Speaker 1: Two examples weed and gambling went from taboo to like, hey, let's party it up. And I find it funny in a productive way because I think no one ever really thought cigarette smoking was good. No, we went from your dad and grandpa they'd smoke with you in the car, and now it took like one generation for us to be like, smoking's bad. We smoked on airplanes. I mean there's still old planes that have an ashtray. I don't buy planes. I just think it's wild house some things. The public is just like all in or all off of, and it's like, all of a sudden, I was like, yeah, weed, let's go, Hey, gamble, let's go cigarettes. Now we've all agreed that's really bad for you.

00:09:04
Speaker 2: It's a wild have fun, do it responsibly if that's your thing.

00:09:07
Speaker 1: There was a troubling stat and again not speaking out of both sides of my mouth, because I think DraftKings and I love that they're sponsor of ours. I do enjoy gambling myself, But Danny, what was the hell you sent me a headline that more people are now wagering than contributing into their investments in four oh one k.

00:09:28
Speaker 4: Yeah, this does not surprise me.

00:09:30
Speaker 1: That's see. That is where the rich Davis four oh one k funk should come in. Do you remember I said this. I had a brilliant idea that I should have took the shark tank, and someone else is now going to benefit. You know how there's people that follow, like Nancy Pelosi stock tips and they make millions, and there's people that there's all these little tips, like every time you shop at a publicly traded company, you buy five dollars of their stock, like all these little fun apps. Yeah, Danny, do you remember I said, we should have a gambling app, like in conjunction with draft Kings or whoever wants a partner, And if you win, you could directly deposit that into your kid's four A one k, but you can't take out of.

00:10:06
Speaker 5: It or a percentage of your winnings. Right, one way. It was a one way street. We said it could work one.

00:10:12
Speaker 1: Way, a one way street of a gambling account.

00:10:15
Speaker 2: Even like in an auto pay of twenty five percent of your earning a yes or winning.

00:10:19
Speaker 1: Hey, if you're a gambler, you donate, you put this money into your you call like the DraftKings. Educate your edumacation fund, Edumacation Fund listen, I think that would be great. And you bet, you bet, you bet a hundo on the Patriots to cover last night. They win, Yeah, you win, seventy five twenty five goes into your kids, you know, five twenty nine.

00:10:38
Speaker 2: And if you're on a losing streak and your wife wants to throw you out of the house, you could always say, but but honey, we still did donate a few hundred into the kids College found fund, and.

00:10:47
Speaker 1: You know, like they do the bonus bets and all that, that could be a bonus money into your kids five twenty nine. So when it happens and some jibbroni, it becomes a multimillionaire because he has its app idea. Just remember, I'm the guy that thought of it, and I didn't execute it, and I hate myself for it because I feel like, well.

00:11:03
Speaker 2: Guess what, I just got a tweet from mister Wonderful and he said he wants to take your idea behind the barn.

00:11:08
Speaker 1: And shoot it.

00:11:09
Speaker 2: Hold on, damn Bayer, your man don't know if you have a proprietary patent on this.

00:11:13
Speaker 1: Damn buyer. Danny g I was saying, you guys are are men of knowledge of integrity. If it's a one way street where you're not dipping out of your kids college fund, you don't think my idea still sounds like pretty smart.

00:11:24
Speaker 6: Well here's the thing though, what about just the money you're generally losing from your your general bank account, like you still have to like in the moment, you still might be losing money overall.

00:11:34
Speaker 1: It just but if you're a gambler, you're gonna wager anyway. I'm just saying this. What this does is it almost it almost gives a little piece of the pie to something actually productive. God plays Devil's avagaant role. Yeah, please do. But you have to be al Pacino though you think you're a big time I'll show you big time. Thank you, don't mind if I do.

00:11:55
Speaker 2: I just think as a guy who again I respect gambling. We're in Vegas all the time, and of course DraftKings that's awesome. I do feel a lot of times we focus on the winnings and the players that we're betting on, and we're losing the excitement of the game, like the actual game. Much how, I'll give you a real stretch of an analogy. I feel like porn and having porn at your fingertips has desensitized a younger generation and a lot of people of what you know is fun, Like oh sex, sex is boring compared to what you're seeing on porn hub. Like what happened to just appreciating the game? Now we have to have action on it because it's not as exciting when there's not totally agree Kate, Thank you, Sam, because as a guy who just likes the game, and call me old school, call me an old soul, Sam, and I I think do vibe on this. I still like the little things that made the game special. I don't need all that action. Well see what I'm saying to pull me in on something that's already awesome.

00:12:55
Speaker 1: Well, I know what you're saying. You're saying like you know, I was gonna say making love to a woman and that is not the reason. Making love to a woman is already making love.

00:13:06
Speaker 2: And now we have these crazy expectations that you need based on what provides has provided.

00:13:12
Speaker 5: Man, I'm cutting that out of the podcast.

00:13:15
Speaker 1: Making Love, Love Daddy, making love to a woman.

00:13:21
Speaker 2: It's like you can't just appreciate making love anymore. You need to do all the things you're seeing there to spice it up, like you've become to sensitized to what is already great your brain has.

00:13:32
Speaker 1: You can only handle so much, like dopamine drip.

00:13:34
Speaker 6: You know, like you if it's like gambling or or watching a lot of porn is like doing like extra hard drugs, like and then you're like, I can never go back because like my brain wants this, it craves it's extra.

00:13:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, Like when some young dude meets a woman with I don't know, reasonable limits, He's like, but what about what I see you online?

00:13:52
Speaker 2: It's like you're not focusing on the game or the beauty of the game or the sweet sign you're watching. You're so focused on what's happening with your your your.

00:14:01
Speaker 1: Pocket got hit the over gut h of the over positive though, my kids are all going to college for free because Emmanuel klus For throws a lot of first pitch ball, so I'm kidding.

00:14:11
Speaker 2: So it has changed how we watched the game, guys, And you can say the same uh for a lot of things.

00:14:16
Speaker 1: So I'll just leave it at that.

00:14:17
Speaker 5: By the way, this study is from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. They say that once legalized online sports betting hit In a lot of states, the average American, the average gambler is spending eleven dollars per year and dialing back their investments by about fourteen percent. Northwestern's advice treat betting as entertainment, not a financial strategy.

00:14:43
Speaker 2: Or how about what we do, Danny G. You know, me and Danny G. We're not daddy stacks. We're not rolling in ducats, right, but if we're at the fight, yes, or we're at.

00:14:51
Speaker 5: The game, it's special occasions.

00:14:54
Speaker 2: There you go, Like, I mean that's how I balance it, and I'm not judging.

00:14:57
Speaker 1: It is fun.

00:14:58
Speaker 6: Treat gambling like the strip club. Yeah, treat it like the strength, lay and listen. Investing in the stock market is also kind of like gambling. But yeah, and yes, what you're talking about, right, they've they've reigned backed their investments to the can gamble more. But yeah, I just it's man, I just it's there's a kind of a reason, guys, why like for like even since like biblical times, like gambling and drinking have been sort of like looked down upon because maybe it causes some problems for societies.

00:15:24
Speaker 1: And I like my drink. Don't don't get me wrong, now, I saw our buddy Jared Smith, who we love. He does Fox Sports Radio weekends. Jared Smith. Hell of a guy. I saw he was on like ABC News, like national. Yeah, he's made a couple appearances now he's uh, you know, talking about these things.

00:15:41
Speaker 2: If you want to follow him, Jared Smith bets. He's a great dude. Jared Smith betts. He's a supporter of US. So anyone that loves and supports US, I love him right back.

00:15:49
Speaker 1: So what's up Jared? Jared was saying on ABC Nightly News, he got a big appearance there. I was. I was happy for him. Oh is he mister big time? What do you think of big time? Now? Are too good for me?

00:16:00
Speaker 3: Show you?

00:16:00
Speaker 1: He was saying that, you know, the only reasonable answer to these to keep sports betting legitimate is when you make these prop bets very small scale, like maximums, like a bet like that's why when they do the first how long is the national anthem? Or what color Gatorade or all these things. You guys do realize those Super Bowl bets have like a one or two hundred dollars limit because you can't be like yo, bro got a tip and bet like five hundred thousand dollars on the national anthem to have the over. So so with that, with that said, I think that they're gonna do the right thing. I've seen people say their I've heard people say that Cavino that they should eliminate all player prop bets because it just kills the integrity of like sports, like we really betting the pitch count of a pitcher or the yards of a receiver. But hey, people love it too much. But real quick, we're running late. But I do want to give you the big TV game of the week. Let's you should hear my ft up, I got an extra TV the game game that I will have Rich's big TV Game of the week.

00:17:05
Speaker 3: It's Rich's big TV Game of the week.

00:17:09
Speaker 1: Nothing I love more is the intro where spot you're laughing at that it ends up being a segment. So thank yous Fonny boy for mocking me. You're the man.

00:17:17
Speaker 2: Well, if you're new to the Covino and Rich Show again live from Arizona, right now, Rich has a big TV, but he wheels out a second little TV like the av kid in high school, you know, for the weaker games.

00:17:29
Speaker 1: So what's making the big TV this week? And isn't it funny? What used to be a little TV is now is like what it used to be a big TV is now a little TV. Like I wheel out a fifty five inch that used to be like if you had a fifty five inch TV back of the day.

00:17:40
Speaker 2: What I'm happy to hear is that you won your big TV back because your kids sort of owned it with K Pop Demon Hunters and I was.

00:17:46
Speaker 1: Watching the Big Game TV on my phone. Yeah, so you know, I think I TCL changed all that, all right, So let's thank our friends at TCL. Let's go over the big game of the week.

00:17:56
Speaker 4: Now.

00:17:56
Speaker 1: Listen, We're going to Madrid, Spain early Sunday morning. We say, we weed that's not Spain. Washington and Miami. You'll watch it because it's on. It's the only early game nine thirty eastern, one Pacific, right, so I'm sorry, nine to thirty eastern, six thirty in the morning out west. Now, let's talk about the early games. Carolina, Atlanta, no thanks, Houston and Tennessee again you know, no, no thanks, Green Bay and the Giants. I think that's interesting only because, like Green Bay, I think it's a big game for Jordan love to assert himself and be you the man.

00:18:37
Speaker 2: As as I wonder who are they? Who are the Green Bay. They're trying to find an identity and they should be the Giants at home to prove that there's somebody out.

00:18:48
Speaker 1: And there's a there's a game with that. I'm very intrigued by, but it doesn't get the big TV because I'm intrigued, like, who are the Pittsburgh Steelers at this point? Right? And Cincinnati could play spoiler and all of a sudden they can find themselves at five five and Pittsburgh could be tied with Baltimore by the end of the weekend. So that's a really interesting game. But I think for all intents and purposes, Sous, it's so obvious that I, you know, we gotta go Tampa Bay at Buffalo, Baker Mayfield, he's got some weapons back Buffalo at Holmes is obviously they're gonna try to make a statement because everyone's started. Everyone's talking about Drake may and the Wingle and everyone's saying, well, you know, Kansas City will be there and all the turnaround of the Ravens, and they're talking about the Colts and Daniel Jones. People are sort of off Buffalo. So I think Buffalo may be like whoa whoa hold up.

00:19:32
Speaker 2: And by the way, they fun smack talk in the past week, going back and forth like they have a friendly, a friendly competitive camaraderie Mayfield and Josh Allen.

00:19:43
Speaker 1: So that's an exciting game. I think a Bay at Buffalo that is by far the biggest early game of the week. Now, as far as Lake games go, Baltimore Cleveland, you're gonna keep an eye on because if Baltimore keeps rolling, they're gonna find themselves back at five hundred in e bak Man there they are right, They're right back in the mix. So you'll keep an eye on that. You'll also keep an eye on the game. We're gonna be at Niners, the return of Brock Party. I gave him a pep talk earlier. He's all good. Look for us on TV. He'll be at Arizona. Not a game that gets the big TV. There's two games you might need to do a little split action, but I'm putting Kansas City and Denver backseat. I'm sorry you might think that's the one. You might say, Bo Nicks, Patrick Mahomes, come on, dude, AFC Battle. I'm going NFC battle Dan Byer Seahawks going into Los Angeles. Is this where Sam.

00:20:31
Speaker 2: Donold he might be a Rich Davis game, but.

00:20:36
Speaker 1: Sam Donald's Matthew Stafford in LA. That's the game of the week. I love quarterbacks. I can't wait. So that is your big TCL game of the week. Lock it in Seattle. Rams. Now coming up, we are gonna play Brainwave. This is the game where you have a chance to win a convin On rich nerf Turbo Football.
