<v Speaker 1>to Pennsylvania. Yeah, you know, and uh, we're since I
<v Speaker 1>was ten. You know, we can't hunt our twelve. But
<v Speaker 1>we was driving deer out from my dad and can
<v Speaker 1>you know he's the dogs. We were the dogs.

<v Speaker 1>Okay, but I'm going up I started me, which I
<v Speaker 1>should have done last year. I don't know why, you know,
<v Speaker 1>it's just you know, this is tough. You know everything,
<v Speaker 1>you know what I mean, just stole everything else. And uh,
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna put me a tree stand up. I'm going
<v Speaker 1>archery hunting up there. I'm gonna find out what's up there.

<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna find out what's going I know there's something
<v Speaker 1>in there and uh, you know, I don't know it's
<v Speaker 1>changed up there, you know. Uh yeah, which was his
<v Speaker 1>name is? You know don Dee? Of course he can't
<v Speaker 1>even even walk. But uncles who know I just not
<v Speaker 1>has cancer stage four, you know, good friends with him.
<v Speaker 1>And uh, he says, there from ten to twelve, everybody
<v Speaker 1>every day. Okay, as I went up, you know, I
<v Speaker 1>when I go up last time, I swung by there
<v Speaker 1>and he wasn't there, So I didn't get to talk
<v Speaker 1>to him. Because what happened is the joint farm below
<v Speaker 1>my uncle's which we were here, well we had you know,
<v Speaker 1>plenty I mean back and there's a lot of are
<v Speaker 1>me to hunt therese all the neighboring properties, let me hunt,
<v Speaker 1>you know. Well, well, man Weaver died and this say
<v Speaker 1>I went to school with, and actually we was in
<v Speaker 1>an all star football game in Witzburg. It was freaking
<v Speaker 1>snowing and cold, and we only plays you know, utbacks,
<v Speaker 1>right and uh, this kid who he was They were
<v Speaker 1>from Barbarasville, West Virginia. This team it's I had one arm. Hell,
<v Speaker 1>we couldn't catch him. He's they and uh and anyhow
<v Speaker 1>this kid got into the old gas business. His name's
<v Speaker 1>Charlie Riggs, which you know he sold his tap up
<v Speaker 1>to his partner for means of dollars. Well he's done
<v Speaker 1>all this property up around my uncle's, I'll say. And
<v Speaker 1>he got to talk and dun dean to hunt joining
<v Speaker 1>property to my uncle's, which I always taught, and I
<v Speaker 1>don't hunt on the other side. And uh, well I
<v Speaker 1>took my uncle last time last year. I got a
<v Speaker 1>point first morning up and I come on home. You know,
<v Speaker 1>my truck was loaded, you know, deep deer bacon sausage,
<v Speaker 1>you know. And I had a truck on the way home,
<v Speaker 1>you know, that's what I went for. Well, he got
<v Speaker 1>this Charlie Riggs. My uncle tell me, well, they got
<v Speaker 1>amseels set up in the trophy hunting. I said, trophy hunting,
<v Speaker 1>my poet. It ain't get nothing, no truck. Of course
<v Speaker 1>you don't know that. And this is you know what
<v Speaker 1>I'm thinking. But anyhow, this kid talked to Don Deane. Well,
<v Speaker 1>I'm old your property for you, you know, keep it mode
<v Speaker 1>for you, but don't let nobody hunt on it, you know.
<v Speaker 1>So this kid, you know, and when my weavers, he
<v Speaker 1>bought weavers down here too. He got me and the
<v Speaker 1>dollars he's bound all this property there. I hunt. Well,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know him. I I football with him. I
<v Speaker 1>was just gonna talk to stop and talk to dog,
<v Speaker 1>you know, and say you don't get to put a
<v Speaker 1>tree stand up in the corner which was right by
<v Speaker 1>my apple field. You know, I can I have to
<v Speaker 1>put in the woods because I can't put it in
<v Speaker 1>the field because you ain't got blind you know, you're
<v Speaker 1>in the open. I said, I just want to sit
<v Speaker 1>it off fence loan about twenty feet you had some cover,
<v Speaker 1>you know. I was gonna ask him to talk, which
<v Speaker 1>he would probably let me be like, because I don't.
<v Speaker 1>They don't hunt on top. They hunt the holler. You know,
<v Speaker 1>I don't think because I don't hunt it out there.
<v Speaker 1>I've never seen anybody but once in a while. And
<v Speaker 1>uh so that's where I'm at. But they are don't
<v Speaker 1>keep me out of there, you know what I mean?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, understand that I can.
<v Speaker 1>Now now there's another joint in property. It joins Dean
<v Speaker 1>and and uncles. So I stopped and talking about the
<v Speaker 1>old man Andy Police died, which a couple of years ago.
<v Speaker 1>Up to the boy I go, I said, I won't
<v Speaker 1>be up this year because I've got a shoulders of
<v Speaker 1>a doctator cup surgery. I saw I'll be up next year,
<v Speaker 1>and you don't care. They don't care, you know. I said,
<v Speaker 1>we'll take her right up and see what the property line,
<v Speaker 1>as you know. And uh, I said, I'm gonna put
<v Speaker 1>a tree stand up in there somewhere, and uh, I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna at least day for at least a week's coming
<v Speaker 1>archy season. And That's where I'm at, you know. Uh, well,
<v Speaker 1>get back to the trophy thing. I says, Oh there
<v Speaker 1>their trophy hunting, which is I've seen some you know,
<v Speaker 1>not in season. Before season, we got right round the hill,
<v Speaker 1>you know, take a look, and uh, I'm seeing some
<v Speaker 1>I should have had at least three wall hangers, and
<v Speaker 1>I just never got to show they had got a
<v Speaker 1>shot out of kill him. It just wasn't a beep,
<v Speaker 1>you know what I mean. You know, certain circumstances, I
<v Speaker 1>just to get a shot. And uh uh. There was
<v Speaker 1>a couple of boys hunted up to the riple season
<v Speaker 1>this year. One boy got in that big a point,
<v Speaker 1>but the one that was on top, he said he
<v Speaker 1>didn't see that dere. But uh when I came up
<v Speaker 1>from police is not talking boys. That day I come
<v Speaker 1>up to us, Jesus God man, look at the years
<v Speaker 1>standing everywhere man all over there. They were eating acorns
<v Speaker 1>off the dirt road, and a corns hang out with
<v Speaker 1>the road, you know what I mean, off the bank
<v Speaker 1>and everything. They're eating them off off dirt road. That's
<v Speaker 1>what they was doing. My god, look at all that here, man,
<v Speaker 1>oh my lord, and uh, you know, get back to
<v Speaker 1>the trophy thing. And now here's here's where I missus.
<v Speaker 1>Uh what would you call it? They? Uh, I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>I was talking to uh, my uncle's nephew, which he helps.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I'm eighty years old, you know, he he
<v Speaker 1>gets old. You know, he helped he father hay and
<v Speaker 1>cows and you know they they uh go out. He
<v Speaker 1>had to get rid because he had all the cattle
<v Speaker 1>on weavers down in the all, you know. And since
<v Speaker 1>his kid bought all this property, well he has cattle
<v Speaker 1>down I said, he had to get rid of a
<v Speaker 1>lot of cattle. And that's really tightened things up. And
<v Speaker 1>I still got a little bit of peace down there.
<v Speaker 1>What they call Ingram's which I've talked to him. I'm
<v Speaker 1>a lot that joins weavers. It's in between weavers and beans,
<v Speaker 1>you know, and I can still hunt that. I'm there's
<v Speaker 1>a couple of flats down there. Uh, And they run
<v Speaker 1>on flats in a little flat. It's in the middle flats.
<v Speaker 1>You know. That's actually where I got my A point
<v Speaker 1>last year. I didn't hung up on top last night
<v Speaker 1>last year. But get back to the trophy. Then here's
<v Speaker 1>it's just education. As I guess. I was on Facebook
<v Speaker 1>one night talking to my nephew Jason. That the same
<v Speaker 1>boy that help's my uncle. And you know I remember him.
<v Speaker 1>He was just knee high. Yeah, he's not a lot
<v Speaker 1>younger than I am. He's probably you know him his dad.
<v Speaker 1>You know, we all hunted together. You know, of course
<v Speaker 1>we went our different ways, but you know, and uh,
<v Speaker 1>I just happened to be talking to him on Facebook
<v Speaker 1>and I was telling him what I said because his
<v Speaker 1>brother Eric got a new house up every night off
<v Speaker 1>Alfa Piel, I said, okay, and uh, which I never
<v Speaker 1>saw till last year. And uh, and I seen his
<v Speaker 1>wife as a girl staying as his wife. I pulled
<v Speaker 1>in there, I said, how are you doing you? And
<v Speaker 1>it's because I gave Actually I was up there a
<v Speaker 1>year or two before. I had license plate on the
<v Speaker 1>front of the forward truck and it was I was
<v Speaker 1>working on We stopped at the caterpillar place and got
<v Speaker 1>some plates and different things, and can I have that plate?
<v Speaker 1>I say, I go ahead and take it. I got
<v Speaker 1>another one island and she's still talking about that plate.
<v Speaker 1>I can't the life of plate. It says cat on it.
<v Speaker 1>It's like red, white and blue, and got some stars
<v Speaker 1>and stuff on it. But so I'll be up next year,
<v Speaker 1>I said, I can't hunt this year because I have
<v Speaker 1>shoulder surgery January eleventh. And but get back to the
<v Speaker 1>trophy thing. And I was talking to actually mess you know,
<v Speaker 1>and you know you're on Facebook. You're just replying to
<v Speaker 1>each other, right, I said, you make sure you tell
<v Speaker 1>your brother man, keep an eye on them kids. Man,
<v Speaker 1>I'm telling you there's something in there. I don't know
<v Speaker 1>what it is, but you tell him don't let them
<v Speaker 1>kids out of his sight, you know, because I you know,
<v Speaker 1>I not there's something then, because I got a glimpse
<v Speaker 1>of it and the smell that day. And we got
<v Speaker 1>to talk and he goes, yes, some people's told me
<v Speaker 1>the same things. And I haven't talked him since, and
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna ask him about that next time I see him. Actually,
<v Speaker 1>he was up there last time I went up, and
<v Speaker 1>I forgot to ask him he walked right in and
<v Speaker 1>girl going out. He was coming in. I was heading
<v Speaker 1>home North Carolina after my hunt, had my truck because
<v Speaker 1>I was getting, you know, hamburger off my uncle. I
<v Speaker 1>always get beef off him when I come home, welcome back,
<v Speaker 1>and he goes, yeah, I've heard some people say the
<v Speaker 1>same things about the things I tell him about the
<v Speaker 1>smell and what I saw. But I never forgotten person
<v Speaker 1>with him. But during that conversation somebody come in and
<v Speaker 1>message message between us, and it must have been one
<v Speaker 1>of his friends, because I didn't know who it was. Oh,
<v Speaker 1>where's this that? You know what? You know, what's what's
<v Speaker 1>going on? Where was this at?
<v Speaker 4>You know?
<v Speaker 1>Okay, but I'm not going to tell them. You know,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know Bason never did. I don't think you would.
<v Speaker 1>But I just told him this further out the road,
<v Speaker 1>like I said, Gordon Hill, uh number three or four
<v Speaker 1>miles of road. You know. I don't want them to know.
<v Speaker 1>But evidently they must have found out. I think that's
<v Speaker 1>what's going on in the house. Somebody else has seen something,
<v Speaker 1>or somebody has picked up what we was talking about
<v Speaker 1>and got get set up in there. They're not set
<v Speaker 1>up in their trophy hunting. I think they're set up
<v Speaker 1>for whatever's in there. That's my opinion. It just seemed
<v Speaker 1>kind of weird trophy hunting. I mean, it just don't
<v Speaker 1>make no sense to me. Which there's some big bucks
<v Speaker 1>around in there, but you know, trophy hunting, I said,
<v Speaker 1>just don't make nose. It just didn't make sense to me,
<v Speaker 1>you know what I mean. Yeah, So that's where I'm at,
<v Speaker 1>and uh, I'm gonna find out. I ain't done yet,
<v Speaker 1>So I'm going up. Yeah, I'm gonna make a good
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna make a good. Go what's in there? Because
<v Speaker 1>in nineteen ninety two it was gear, me and Junior,
<v Speaker 1>it was archery hunting up on top. We're on top
<v Speaker 1>of them's hall on the side top, you know, from
<v Speaker 1>on the side the other you can't see the other
<v Speaker 1>side because it's trees, you know, archer season of beef.
<v Speaker 1>You gets to the other side and it's like a
<v Speaker 1>a horseshoe. I'm therew horseshoe, you know, from top to
<v Speaker 1>bars deep and that's dark down in the bottom. It's
<v Speaker 1>it's spooky. I'm telling you, a man, it is. Nobody
<v Speaker 1>likes it down there. What you get a deer down
<v Speaker 1>and you're in trouble, you better have some help. So,
<v Speaker 1>uh but anyhow, the first time me and Junior we
<v Speaker 1>hunted out. You know, he had kids and then going
<v Speaker 1>to school, so we'd you know, lunchtime. We'd get out
<v Speaker 1>there about one o'clock and we'd just sit down and
<v Speaker 1>Archerie hunt. He would hunt on down about anywhere between
<v Speaker 1>eighteen one hundred yards. I couldn't see him the course,
<v Speaker 1>but uh, I know, he actually never knew where he's sitting.
<v Speaker 1>But he had a bond down there, and I was
<v Speaker 1>up above, you know, further up, which was both not
<v Speaker 1>too far off the right of way, you know, I'm
<v Speaker 1>I'm probably about fifteen herds off the right away. I can.
<v Speaker 1>I can turn around and see the right of way,
<v Speaker 1>you know, and see a little bit down in the
<v Speaker 1>hollow right there. That's why I put that tree stand
<v Speaker 1>there with just a no wooden stand about fifteen feet
<v Speaker 1>in the air. And you know, if you fell off
<v Speaker 1>the front of it, you get hurt, you know, But
<v Speaker 1>from the backside you can almost jump up and touch it,
<v Speaker 1>you know what I mean. And uh, well, I was
<v Speaker 1>sitting there one afternoon, I don't know what time it
<v Speaker 1>must have been about probably three o'clock, three thirty four,
<v Speaker 1>somewhere in there. Then all of a sudden, it just
<v Speaker 1>sounds like somebody was something busting brush, you know what
<v Speaker 1>I mean, like trees, you know, like brush. It sounded
<v Speaker 1>like more like brush, or maybe like somebody taking a
<v Speaker 1>hold of a tree and shaking it or something like that,
<v Speaker 1>you know what I mean. Well, the first thing comes
<v Speaker 1>to our mind. That's that big buck down there. That's
<v Speaker 1>what's making that noise. We're not thinking anything about no
<v Speaker 1>freaking bigfoot, you know, I mean, we're out there hunting deer.
<v Speaker 1>We din't know anything about no bigfoot, never heard anything
<v Speaker 1>about no big foot. And that was the last thing
<v Speaker 1>on our mind. And this went on for oh good hour.
<v Speaker 1>Oh my god, it was too It was so dry
<v Speaker 1>that day. You couldn't take two steps, you know, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>it's a freaking wheel draft. Well, you know, come quitting Tom,
<v Speaker 1>you know, Junior I was passed me to go back
<v Speaker 1>to the truck. We had to cross the right, I said, Junior,
<v Speaker 1>I said, you hear that, he goes, Yeah, my god,
<v Speaker 1>that's what day. Hell was that? Man? Oh, that's that
<v Speaker 1>big buck. Probably that's the only thing we could think
<v Speaker 1>of him. Well, I don't think it was that buck.
<v Speaker 1>It wasn't that big buck. I don't believe that's what
<v Speaker 1>it was. Now the things happened after that, and uh,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, there's a saint thing. It was the safet.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if he was with me that day
<v Speaker 1>or not. I was. I usually go. I sat there
<v Speaker 1>the same place I said, on the ground that day.
<v Speaker 1>I said, well, I'm just gonna lean up against here
<v Speaker 1>and relax, you know, sit back and enjoy myself and
<v Speaker 1>I maybe try to take a little nap or something,
<v Speaker 1>you know. And uh, I looked over my left shoulder.
<v Speaker 1>Here comes this buck and laid down ten feet from me.
<v Speaker 1>I mean it came. I mean, it's not real thicking you.
<v Speaker 1>I'm in the kind of it's just small oaks right
<v Speaker 1>in there, you know. I tease well, I said, wait
<v Speaker 1>in the hell's that deer doing? Man? It just laid there.
<v Speaker 1>It just smel was strange to me. Man, there's ten, ten,
<v Speaker 1>ten teen feet away. It just didn't make no sense,
<v Speaker 1>you know. And I sat there, and you know, I
<v Speaker 1>planned severn. He's still laying there, you know, just kind
<v Speaker 1>of I can't remember which way he was, if I
<v Speaker 1>remember right, I think it's kind of his head was
<v Speaker 1>pointed towards my way, but more towards the right away,
<v Speaker 1>but looking up, you know, towards Jack. I feel like
<v Speaker 1>we're walking out, you know, and not back down the
<v Speaker 1>other way. Virginia would be hung. I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>he was with me that day or not. I can't
<v Speaker 1>He might have been, I just can't remember. Well, that
<v Speaker 1>buck up and walked right in front of me, and
<v Speaker 1>I had to kick the leaves. Get that sound bitch
<v Speaker 1>away from me because it wasn't a real big bug.
<v Speaker 1>It was an older buck, but its horns was palmated.
<v Speaker 1>You know what I mean. Don't see it? Yeah, they're
<v Speaker 1>palmated like spare You know, I had guys, I was
<v Speaker 1>on the ground, I was kicking leaves. Man, What the
<v Speaker 1>hell is that dear doing? Man, I get the hell
<v Speaker 1>away from me, you know. I was saying to myself,
<v Speaker 1>get the hell out of here. I'm not hunting you.
<v Speaker 1>But it just seemed to come up there and lay
<v Speaker 1>down like beside me. Just seems strange. I never thought
<v Speaker 1>anything of it, yeah, until later and one afternoon. No,
<v Speaker 1>I think it was the following that that right for Steve.
<v Speaker 1>You know, to walk from Uncle's house, you got to
<v Speaker 1>walk up field. The point you walk up, you're walking
<v Speaker 1>in there a foul field, but you're walking on the
<v Speaker 1>edge of the woods on out o the side of
<v Speaker 1>the fence. When you walk up get to the top.
<v Speaker 1>That's where that got right away to the left. That's
<v Speaker 1>where we hunted off to the right, and you walk
<v Speaker 1>down the right away just off the bout. Picky down
<v Speaker 1>off the record. Hemson down, and I was. I had
<v Speaker 1>that six ncalling on it and just about right to
<v Speaker 1>step passed the right away a couple more steps. I
<v Speaker 1>was passing it right away in the woods, but I
<v Speaker 1>was still walking in the out hap of field. That's
<v Speaker 1>when I down right away and seeing that, I don't
<v Speaker 1>know what it was. All I seen was the hair,
<v Speaker 1>and the hair was six. It was like when I
<v Speaker 1>pulled my gun look to go, it's you know it
<v Speaker 1>already stepped in the woods. I can see it real good.
<v Speaker 1>I just seen the hair, you know what I mean.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, if I it was more or less walking
<v Speaker 1>with me, you know what I mean? That way in
<v Speaker 1>direct line, you know it. I never thought the know it.
<v Speaker 1>And I'm walking out through there like a Uh, it's hard.
<v Speaker 1>It's like a reddish light brown with like dirty white.
<v Speaker 1>Next it looked like, I don't know, it's hard to
<v Speaker 1>you know. This is about forty fifty yards of the
<v Speaker 1>naked eye. You know, before I got my scope up,
<v Speaker 1>that's seen it. I never got it in my scope
<v Speaker 1>because they had already stepped in the woods, because I
<v Speaker 1>was already just about ready to step out step past
<v Speaker 1>it right away. See right away comes into that alfifle piel.
<v Speaker 1>But it stops right there at that, so they don't stop.
<v Speaker 1>It actually continues through the olive pill, but it's not
<v Speaker 1>right away there, you know what I mean. And Uh,
<v Speaker 1>as I was walking, Uh, I just run it through
<v Speaker 1>my head. Why didn't the hell could that? I said, Dear,
<v Speaker 1>no Cody, No, it can't be, no Cody. You know,
<v Speaker 1>I just more or less, you know, I was dear.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I just didn't know what it was. But
<v Speaker 1>I've seen that. You know. The hair was so long.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if anything like that has hair like that.
<v Speaker 1>I've hunted down there, you know I did. So this
<v Speaker 1>kind of just passed my mind. I'm making no big
<v Speaker 1>big puts the last thing on my mind, you know.
<v Speaker 1>So I went out to you know, I was heading
<v Speaker 1>the last ten early any police to alcohunt, I said today.
<v Speaker 1>I never told him more about it. So the next
<v Speaker 1>year it must have been ninety three. I don't know
<v Speaker 1>it's ninety two ninety three or ninety three ninety four
<v Speaker 1>to so happened because I moved down here ninety six.
<v Speaker 1>It might even been four ninety five. I just can't remember,
<v Speaker 1>because I've moved down here in March ninety six. And
<v Speaker 1>uh so I didn't hint up there that year. I
<v Speaker 1>might head. I might have went back up. It depends
<v Speaker 1>on the pipeline, you know. Sometimes we're laid out through
<v Speaker 1>the winner. But I decided to go. I don't know why.
<v Speaker 1>I never hunt the bottom of that hollow. But we
<v Speaker 1>put a tree stand and down, I mean a five
<v Speaker 1>years ago, and that's an old woodn't standing. That's freaking high.
<v Speaker 1>It's like thirty thirty five feet. It's it's scary, you know,
<v Speaker 1>it's not even safe. Probably the if you you know,
<v Speaker 1>you just got a little place to sit, you got
<v Speaker 1>nowhere to put your feet, you know, you shoot the
<v Speaker 1>ball to shoot it off sitting down or standing up
<v Speaker 1>on it scary because you know, so I don't know
<v Speaker 1>why I want I decided to go down that happening,
<v Speaker 1>but I did, and uh, you know, after all this
<v Speaker 1>other stuff is happening, the deer, deer in the brush,
<v Speaker 1>everything was in the same place, dear from more, that
<v Speaker 1>deer laid. It was straight down where the brush was
<v Speaker 1>all busting up, slashing and bashing whatever it was. We
<v Speaker 1>thought it was a buck, just hitting trees, busting brush,
<v Speaker 1>same place, same exactly where that tree stand sits says, well,
<v Speaker 1>I'll hunt that tree stand this afternoon. But you know what,
<v Speaker 1>I didn't see sowhere, no by something by myself, and
<v Speaker 1>nobody knew where I was or where I was going.
<v Speaker 1>Who knows something happened. They had parked me sooner or later.
<v Speaker 1>But uh, I got up in that tree stand that
<v Speaker 1>afternoon about must have been one one thirty two balks
<v Speaker 1>somewhere in there. I sat there, probably calm day, you know,
<v Speaker 1>decent weather or not real cold, you know, I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>I probably sat there, probably a good hour, you know,
<v Speaker 1>and I didn't There was nothing. There was no smell,
<v Speaker 1>no nothing, I just know anything, you know, for an
<v Speaker 1>hour and I look down. There's a freaking doze standing
<v Speaker 1>down below. Like bottle my stand looking straight up at me.
<v Speaker 1>I didn't see that thing walk in. Man. They walked
<v Speaker 1>in from behind me. And that's why I didn't see it, because,
<v Speaker 1>like I said, there's not much maneuverability on a tree stand.

<v Speaker 1>eight o'clock and it's dark half an hour before that
<v Speaker 1>down you know, it's it's this spooky damn place. And
<v Speaker 1>I never liked it. Nobody nobody never did. And uh,
<v Speaker 1>an hour later and I do in and I looked
<v Speaker 1>down at and he was looking straight up me, nice
<v Speaker 1>healthy dough. Then that's when the smell came. My freaking god,
<v Speaker 1>what the hell is that freaking smell? You wouldn't I
<v Speaker 1>just couldn't figure out what the hell kind of smell.
<v Speaker 1>It's not like that, man, it was like a uh.
<v Speaker 1>I watched twenty programs A one time somebody mentioned something
<v Speaker 1>about snow. But I can't remember what it was. Something
<v Speaker 1>I put it, that's what it smelled like. But I
<v Speaker 1>can't remember what it was. Because once in a while
<v Speaker 1>there's nothing on like Thursday nights or it was a
<v Speaker 1>bad night for TV, or and Saturday, Saturday's always a

<v Speaker 1>I got a bow in a crossbow, you know, a
<v Speaker 1>nice crossbow, one of the best ones to make. It
<v Speaker 1>was a product. Uh you know, it wouldn't stop big,

<v Speaker 1>ones today are kind of smaller, but they're powerful because

<v Speaker 1>point with faster. They're nice boats. It makes it powerful.

<v Speaker 1>know I had a rope there to pull the boat up,
<v Speaker 1>and I don't even think I put it on rope.

<v Speaker 1>can remember when I was going down so much to
<v Speaker 1>slip off my shoulder and swing down on my elbow,
<v Speaker 1>you know, elbow area, and I had to you know,
<v Speaker 1>of course, reach around your back and flip and swing
<v Speaker 1>back upon your shoulder. I was going down at and
<v Speaker 1>when I hit the ground, I didn't look around. I

<v Speaker 1>didn't I didn't feel safe, and I didn't hear anything

<v Speaker 1>I wasn't thinking about snowing anything more or listening to anything.

<v Speaker 1>that day that afternoon, I kid you, man, And you
<v Speaker 1>know I don't remember walking up out of there and
<v Speaker 1>even walking to my truck man back to the farm

<v Speaker 1>going right towards get right away down, but down pretty
<v Speaker 1>a little bit towards. Actually, I walked down a little
<v Speaker 1>bit off that point to look at them flats that morning.
<v Speaker 1>It was about eight thirty nine o'clock and I turn
<v Speaker 1>around here come out picking buck, crossed the bridge and
<v Speaker 1>alfalfa field and I was just up on top of
<v Speaker 1>money ago. You know, I signed up a bitch, and
<v Speaker 1>so I sprinted up that fence line with about six
<v Speaker 1>which that pre war model seven. You know, it's it's
<v Speaker 1>a big gun. It's a cannon. You know, it's a
<v Speaker 1>heavy gun. That's the one you want to leave, leave
<v Speaker 1>lean on the fence post. I've shot here five hundred
<v Speaker 1>yards away with that gun, and it's just it stopped
<v Speaker 1>at the fence down, getting ready to jump in the woods,
<v Speaker 1>and I shot and got him. He crossed that right
<v Speaker 1>away and come over and that little woods on top
<v Speaker 1>behind them. That's just right, man. And that was, you know,
<v Speaker 1>eight years ago, years ago, and I can't remember, you know,
<v Speaker 1>it's just you know, you know, hunt lie one hundred
<v Speaker 1>and twenty six dollars and today it cost you three
<v Speaker 1>hundred fuel. That's a five hundred dollars trip anywhere where
<v Speaker 1>you look at it, you know. Yeah, so I didn't
<v Speaker 1>go this year. I'm telling you, man, there's something in there.

<v Speaker 1>and they had drill heavy brack, real thick, standing twenty
<v Speaker 1>yards behind me, looking at his head, pointing down, looking
<v Speaker 1>right at me. I said, you gotta be freaking kidding me, man,
<v Speaker 1>And I thought I stood there at that tree a
<v Speaker 1>little longer, not seeing at eight point, i'd have had
<v Speaker 1>that trophy. You know what they was waving their hands.
<v Speaker 1>Junior had that seven leg, he said, when he pulled
<v Speaker 1>a seven nag up. The crosshairs is right in the
<v Speaker 1>middle of my hat. With that deer that big bucks
<v Speaker 1>stand behind me. They wanted me to get down on
<v Speaker 1>the freaking ground, That's what they wanted. I didn't watch,
<v Speaker 1>you know, they didn't shoot. He got crazy to do
<v Speaker 1>something like that. You kill somebody, he said. It was
<v Speaker 1>a freaking month. He said. He had freak home sticking
<v Speaker 1>out everywhere, and it was heavy, man, and it had
<v Speaker 1>to go around the boat the boat build it hit.

<v Speaker 1>my gun on that thing. And actually that day I
<v Speaker 1>was Junior's dad passed away. He had a two forty
<v Speaker 1>three miles seventy and he let me go. Let me

<v Speaker 1>down another morning. It wasn't a soul anywhere I did.

<v Speaker 1>and got a few trees and like a haul back there.

<v Speaker 1>two hundred yards. So I walked on to that fence
<v Speaker 1>post one down torture my you know uncle's tractor is
<v Speaker 1>and I saw, I mean that thirty six on that
<v Speaker 1>fence post and shoot that deer. And that was when
<v Speaker 1>I had that redfield. Of course, that red field ain't
<v Speaker 1>nothing like a Nikon scope, right, and uh, my eyes
<v Speaker 1>was getting dark and my eyes stirred water, and I
<v Speaker 1>was getting blurry, and I was kind of geting my
<v Speaker 1>skirt and looking real slow, and I was walking further
<v Speaker 1>and further Awayut I never got the freaking and uh
<v Speaker 1>there goes. That was another wall hanger. I mean it was.
<v Speaker 1>It was a big, big rack, you know. Then up
<v Speaker 1>there on top where I tell you where the little
<v Speaker 1>tree stand is, where I sat down seeing that buck
<v Speaker 1>laid down, there's a little tree stand right there, I
<v Speaker 1>just wanted even to jumped up and touch. You know.
<v Speaker 1>It was the last Saturday a buck season. I didn't
<v Speaker 1>see nobody nowhere. What I didn't, I didn't seen it.
<v Speaker 1>I hardly ever by myself, I've never seen him, but
<v Speaker 1>hardly so. So I got up there in the afternoon,
<v Speaker 1>I sat there and it was, you know, it was chilly,
<v Speaker 1>but it was a nice day, you know, for for December,
<v Speaker 1>you know, because it was last Saturday buck season. And
<v Speaker 1>uh so I had my grunk call and I saw
<v Speaker 1>two or three o'clock, and I've gone it a couple
<v Speaker 1>of times. I'm un take you below that tree stand
<v Speaker 1>if you if you fell out, you'd probably get hurt.
<v Speaker 1>But there's just a little bit of opening and seen
<v Speaker 1>all of a sudden, I seen too deer. They shoulders,
<v Speaker 1>shoulders walk, not running, but not walking either, and uh,
<v Speaker 1>I could see their hind quarters. I could see from
<v Speaker 1>stakes back. That's all I could see. And they kind
<v Speaker 1>of hesitated it right there for a second, and one
<v Speaker 1>on out of that corner below that headgerow right you know,
<v Speaker 1>I'm fifteen feet from that hedgerow. Then bucks fought from
<v Speaker 1>that time three three thirty four o'clock. Ick forget what
<v Speaker 1>time it was in that corner right below that head
<v Speaker 1>drove at least an hour and a half, two hours.
<v Speaker 1>I could have kicked myself. And that day I shoug
<v Speaker 1>it out of that tree stand. I had to do this,
<v Speaker 1>get out of that tree stand and walk fifteen feet
<v Speaker 1>to that headgerow and just follow the head drow like
<v Speaker 1>fifteen more feet and just look it gets it the
<v Speaker 1>end of the head drow and looked down. I'd have
<v Speaker 1>killed them both and they were then put them two
<v Speaker 1>big Bucks. It just wasn't like I said, It just
<v Speaker 1>wasn't meant to be. I thought I would probably get
<v Speaker 1>a saint, you know, And I didn't get a saint
<v Speaker 1>and never come up out of there. I saw then
<v Speaker 1>I could have kicked myself. And I asked that day
<v Speaker 1>and Lessen, it's o'clock. I was still in that tree.
<v Speaker 1>That still see that through that Nikon scope because that
<v Speaker 1>nikon that's more lighting, you know, and you can still
<v Speaker 1>it's a little bit of light, like moonlight or something.
<v Speaker 1>You can still see. Not too bad. I want to
<v Speaker 1>shoot that the farm, you know. Yeah, And I'm hunting
<v Speaker 1>there for you just meant to be.
<v Speaker 4>You know.
<v Speaker 1>It's like with these big flats. It's just strange, man.
<v Speaker 1>Why do I you know, why do I see that?
<v Speaker 1>Why ain't nobody else you know? Why is it me?
<v Speaker 1>You know what I mean? That's what gets me.
<v Speaker 2>Uh yeah, So none of the other guys really experienced
<v Speaker 2>too much out there.
<v Speaker 1>No, No, I've never We've hunted out there for years,
<v Speaker 1>you know. Of course, we don't hunt that holler. We
<v Speaker 1>always hunt the top. You know. I'm not even at
<v Speaker 1>the right away the boatfields right connected to his woods,
<v Speaker 1>which was a little patch of woods before you hit
<v Speaker 1>that right away. It's like thirty yards wide and it
<v Speaker 1>connects to the top of the ballfield. It's steep and
<v Speaker 1>I call it the point, and I can see for
<v Speaker 1>a mile up on that point. That's where I was hunted,
<v Speaker 1>because I can see a lot more area and I
<v Speaker 1>can kill about out six a long ways, you know,
<v Speaker 1>because I've done it, And that's just where I was hunted.
<v Speaker 1>I never hunted much over there on it on the
<v Speaker 1>Dean side other than the archery season, you know, because
<v Speaker 1>that's where the big bucks hang out over that way,
<v Speaker 1>polices and deans and shot what I call shrivers. Uh,
<v Speaker 1>but you know where it's big. You know. I should
<v Speaker 1>have had three or four whiles. It just wasn't meant
<v Speaker 1>to be, that's all. I never got the shot.
<v Speaker 3>But uh, okay, is there anything else?
<v Speaker 1>You know? It ain't like what he used to be,
<v Speaker 1>you know what I mean, And how we used to
<v Speaker 1>always hunt all the time, my skis, you know, and
<v Speaker 1>we just don't get together because we got older and
<v Speaker 1>we're kind of grown apart, you know what I mean.
<v Speaker 1>And I kind of just more or less hunt by
<v Speaker 1>myself now, and uh, Junior passed away, and twenty fifteen
<v Speaker 1>I saw he was living in art towards Charleston, South Carolina,
<v Speaker 1>and I just wonder why I heard from him or
<v Speaker 1>and after I left Pennsylvania, I just never had much
<v Speaker 1>contact with me. And Uh, Senior passed away in two
<v Speaker 1>thousand fifteen, So he's passed away. And you know, me
<v Speaker 1>and him always hunted together archery season and rifle season,
<v Speaker 1>and the last few years I hunted up there.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that.
<v Speaker 1>As far as up there, you're not gonna see that
<v Speaker 1>tracks unless you get down and bomb that hollow where
<v Speaker 1>it's kind of wet. Like I said, there is a
<v Speaker 1>little bit of a wetness down at the very bottom,
<v Speaker 1>and there's a little stream of water runs down and
<v Speaker 1>in some places you've got a little little wetness where
<v Speaker 1>you know something stepped, you know, you can see a trap.
<v Speaker 1>But anywhere elsehooting I see in the track, it's all
<v Speaker 1>leaves and creaking wood. Was you know there's no murder.
<v Speaker 1>You know, he ain't gonna see no tracks, you know, Uh,
<v Speaker 1>I said, I've hunted out there for years because I'm
<v Speaker 1>not looking for pricking big pot tracks anyway. I'm hunting
<v Speaker 1>deer and I've never come across any tracks. And I
<v Speaker 1>wasn't looking for him though either, you know what I mean,
<v Speaker 1>So uh you could see him, I guess in Dickie's hall,
<v Speaker 1>m Uncle's hall them because it's a little bit wet
<v Speaker 1>down there, you know, it rains and stuff. But you
<v Speaker 1>know we're not walking around unless you're just walking back
<v Speaker 1>the tree when we hut. You know, I sit down,
<v Speaker 1>you know, I sit. I ain't walking all over the
<v Speaker 1>damn place, you know, I trust sit and I sit down,
<v Speaker 1>don't know. And that's where you go, you know, walking
<v Speaker 1>back towards the house, get back up their truck. But uh,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, man. Uh, as I know to do
<v Speaker 1>is get back up in there.

<v Speaker 1>seen a bear. Ain't no damn baarre at know some
<v Speaker 1>other animal they talking. I forget, but this I know.
<v Speaker 1>It wasn't no damn mom goose or whatever the hell
<v Speaker 1>they're talking parrot or something, and what they said, I
<v Speaker 1>was talking, No, ain't No, I said, I ain't nothing
<v Speaker 1>like that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, people are going to find anything.

<v Speaker 1>But uh oh, yeah, I wish I was. You know,

<v Speaker 1>but I'll just say they're probably sitting on down towards
<v Speaker 1>the bottom right now to where his place is, his farm,
<v Speaker 1>and he's just an old horse barn. He got the
<v Speaker 1>worst that. Yeah, that's three four hundred yards. I don't think.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think their cambrige has set up towards the
<v Speaker 1>top anyhow. But I mean, I can you know they're
<v Speaker 1>going to know who I am. You know, I don't care.
<v Speaker 1>But I'm not going to bomb the cameras, you know.
<v Speaker 1>But if I do see one, I head back up pile,
<v Speaker 1>you know, mhmm. But I know I'd get to a
<v Speaker 1>point at the top of the hall. I can see
<v Speaker 1>down in that pretty pretty decent. If you get up
<v Speaker 1>towards the middle of the top, you're looking right down
<v Speaker 1>the middle, and that's where all this happened. And remember
<v Speaker 1>this world thing one real quick mentioning to you, actually
<v Speaker 1>hundred the other side looking the other way, which I
<v Speaker 1>never heard, the other untide of the center. And you know,
<v Speaker 1>I sat up there a good while. You look in
<v Speaker 1>the bank, and I could see in the corner where
<v Speaker 1>the bucks were fighting at the same area. The ground
<v Speaker 1>was like growing like it almost like a split over
<v Speaker 1>the top of the ground, you know what I mean.
<v Speaker 1>And it's like that open area underneath O.
<v Speaker 4>You know what I mean. I was looking at it.
<v Speaker 1>Well, that's weird, man. Of course I wasn't thinking about.
<v Speaker 4>That's what that neither. And I got to remember looking back.
<v Speaker 1>And thinking about it, and I said, hmm, that's interesting.
<v Speaker 1>You know, every thing standing back up in there, you know,
<v Speaker 1>And it looked like it it's straight in the corner
<v Speaker 1>about halfway down, and it's hard to explain. The tree
<v Speaker 1>was still growing on it, but it looked like the
<v Speaker 1>grounded that gave away, or that slid maybe or something.
<v Speaker 4>And there's a big open.
<v Speaker 1>Area underneath felling. It's real dark looking underneath. I was
<v Speaker 1>looking at it. I said, man, that's weird, man, I'm
<v Speaker 1>looking at us. And then I got thinking later after,
<v Speaker 1>you know, sure the hell is sumitch and stay up
<v Speaker 1>in there, man, it could.
<v Speaker 4>Be I guess you know what I mean?
<v Speaker 3>You know, yeah, yeah, exactly.

<v Speaker 1>wouldn't be a cave. It's just it's just like it's

<v Speaker 1>to be, it is only about twenty hearts. It's right
<v Speaker 1>below that corner where a hunt you know. So, uh,
<v Speaker 1>who knows? Man, But I'm telling you I know what
<v Speaker 1>it was, you know now. But I can't prove it
<v Speaker 1>because I didn't see the sound. But I wish how
<v Speaker 1>I got seen that thing? Then yeah, and then again,
<v Speaker 1>maybe I didn't want to see you, so I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>You don't really know until you see it, you know
<v Speaker 1>what I mean. I didn't want to see it. I
<v Speaker 1>got the hell up out of there, man. I knew
<v Speaker 1>I was in trouble and I didn't like it. And
<v Speaker 1>I'm a well seasoned hunter. I don't know what it was,
<v Speaker 1>but I got to hell up out of there, and
<v Speaker 1>I know it wasn't good. I said, I burned it
<v Speaker 1>up out of here. It just ain't good because I
<v Speaker 1>didn't feel safe, you know what I mean. I'm not
<v Speaker 1>one of the scary easy. It scared me then day.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, but I didn't hear no sounds. I didn't.
<v Speaker 1>I just smelled. I didn't hear no sounds grunting or freaking, snorting,
<v Speaker 1>earth branches snapping and banging. It was whatever, whatever this thing.
<v Speaker 1>I tell you, this thing, it's quiet. And if it
<v Speaker 1>is what it is, this thing is what would you
<v Speaker 1>call that? Uh, what's the word for it?
<v Speaker 3>Stealthy?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, stealthy and very smart and sneaky. He'd have to
<v Speaker 1>be pretty sneaky. How smart? Just old boy because he
<v Speaker 1>did he did ye, how smart of me a few times.
<v Speaker 1>But evidently when he was busting that brush down or
<v Speaker 1>he didn't want us centers the I thing I can
<v Speaker 1>think of it, he's trying to get us tel up out.
<v Speaker 1>He wanted us to get up out.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's what sounds like. Is possibly hunting the same
<v Speaker 2>deer and he didn't want you guys in the area.
<v Speaker 1>You'd have to be there that day to hear that.

<v Speaker 1>hard to explain it just it sounded like I don't know, man,
<v Speaker 1>not uh, you know them trees could have been shaking,
<v Speaker 1>but I could you couldn't see them anyhow. If I
<v Speaker 1>walked down to that head drow, I could see him,
<v Speaker 1>but from where I was sitting because all the leaves
<v Speaker 1>are stilling the trees, and you never you couldn't see
<v Speaker 1>them tree trees swinging anyhow. But I don't think it
<v Speaker 1>was a tree swinging against each other. I think it
<v Speaker 1>was smaller trees or brushed. The thing was not just
<v Speaker 1>smash it. I don't know what to tell what was
<v Speaker 1>going on. You know, we got thinking bear too, But
<v Speaker 1>there ain't no picking bear up there. Man, I ain't
<v Speaker 1>never seen them bear up there years. Everybody sound to
<v Speaker 1>bear in my hands. Ain't no damn bear. And that's
<v Speaker 1>what you smell now, I said, No, that ain't no
<v Speaker 1>damn bear. Bear don't even have much of smell. They
<v Speaker 1>didn't bear. Don't smell like that. You'd have to be there,

<v Speaker 1>other reports around, you know, Western Pennsylvania, Southwestern p truck
<v Speaker 1>driyeys and stuff. Who knows. You know, you got to
<v Speaker 1>have the proof, man, and we don't have it. Maybe
