00:01:09
Speaker 3: Who has it better than we do? No lody body.

00:01:13
Speaker 2: Alrighty poll question from our one seaton and what are we going to go with an hour two?

00:01:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, we have up there right now. How many games should be played in the NFL season? Your options are seventeen or eighteen. The voting on that, sixty four percent have seventeen. Now, the interesting comment is that ninety percent of the comments underneath are can't we go back to sixteen?

00:01:37
Speaker 3: So they want less games?

00:01:38
Speaker 4: There's so many po here sixteen. The Cowboys are terrible at seventeen game? Can't we go back to sixteen? Sixteen at the most, there's sixteen with two preseason games, sixteen that was the perfect balance. Can't we go back to sixteen? I mean sixteen there's already too many injuries.

00:01:55
Speaker 3: I'm surprised at that.

00:01:56
Speaker 4: Yeah, sixteen is more than enough. Actually, sixteen the owners don't care about the health. Why isn't sixteen in the poll? That would be my vote?

00:02:05
Speaker 3: Sixteen?

00:02:05
Speaker 4: It's a lot, all right, Well, then put sixteen on there. We'll do a sixteen, seventeen or eighteen.

00:02:11
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:02:11
Speaker 2: Somebody was saying, you know, seventeen is a nice round number. I go, no, it's not like I'm not very smart, but seventeen is not a round number.

00:02:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, Paul, But the NFL is banking everything that the football fans want more football, and it feels like we always want more football, but this poll suggests the opposite.

00:02:28
Speaker 2: But is anybody going to not watch? Is anybody going to turn it off? And the answer is no. Hey, I'm not going to gamble on an eighteenth game, but I will on sixteen games. You know, there's just too much money attached to this. Yes, Todd, I don't understand why. I know it's greed, but sixteen seems very reasonably. Eight home games, eight road, it's an even number of games.

00:02:49
Speaker 5: But now it's a it's a mess.

00:02:51
Speaker 3: Yeah. I was gonna go beyond eighteen games someday. I mean eighteen is even two.

00:02:56
Speaker 7: Yeah, but there was a time when it was twelve and fourteen, So like, when is an enough? Mark Cuban has said, you know about the greed of a oversaturating the NBA, where it's just too easy to find this too many games? So does does that exist in the NFL?

00:03:08
Speaker 8: Is it?

00:03:08
Speaker 2: No, They're the NBA is not adding games. Mark Cuban was talking about the NFL. He wasn't talking about the NBA.

00:03:16
Speaker 7: But like, well, they get to a point where you know, when is the when is it going to be too many games?

00:03:20
Speaker 5: When? What is that number?

00:03:21
Speaker 2: The same thing with what they turned it off. If the Broncos are playing an eighteenth game.

00:03:26
Speaker 7: If you're a fan, you'll watch us. If your team is playing, you'll watch. But if if you're just an average fan that isn't just a super fan of a team, it just does seem like a lot. Just like with the NC tournament that we need ninety six one hundred.

00:03:37
Speaker 2: Years, you're still going to watch it. We may not need it, but we'll watch it. And that's what the NFL is literally banking on that eighteen games. Everybody's going to play an international game and we're going to watch, you know, playing and will watch a game from London with two bad teams on a Sunday morning, nine thirty in the morning.

00:04:01
Speaker 3: East coast Ton, that's East coast Ton. Okay, yeah, but yeah, but you're right.

00:04:07
Speaker 6: They found a whole new broadcast window at nine thirty Eastern that wasn't used before.

00:04:11
Speaker 2: I mean, imagine out here at six thirty in the morning, you're getting up, you know, wake and bake and you're watching you know, your football team.

00:04:19
Speaker 6: And you got to watch the pregame show I started at four or five o'clock. Yeah, Paul, I've been thinking about this. Why would people vote against this? Do you think it's because the NFL is stepping on other sports? They're pushing college football to find a window to play their playoff games, and they're pushing the NBA away from relevance. I know it stinks for these sports, but why else would you want less football? Based off this poll?

00:04:41
Speaker 2: I'm not sure unless you know, we have a soft spot in our heart for these players, you know, getting banged up. But uh, I don't think that would be part of the majority here. And I don't think that an NFL is not an NFL fan's not going, you know, I worry about the NBA, you know, during this time of the year, or you know, college football or whatever it might be. I don't NFL bigfoots everybody, but I don't think there's a fan out there who's going. Man, if it weren't for the NFL, people be watching more NBA.

00:05:12
Speaker 4: Yes, Seaton, Yeah, I think there's a kind of a common thread like eighteen weeks sixteen games, two bys, no Thursday after Sunday games, So like spreading things out, it does seem to be more of a I want to try to keep my team as healthy as possible so they're as good as possible. Seems to be sort of the general consensus with the comments here.

00:05:35
Speaker 2: Now, I get that where you're going, Man, my team is wounded by the end of the year and then you're going to go into the postseason. But everybody's kind of in the same category here. Everybody is, you know, sort of trying to get healthy when they get into the postseason. But people won't turn this all. I mean, we're watching games that we don't care about, but we can add fantasy to this.

00:05:57
Speaker 3: We can gamble.

00:05:59
Speaker 2: You're not watching a game, let's say college basketball, unless that's your alma mater. It's rare when you go, you know, I gotta watch you know, did you watch Yukon and Xavier last night?

00:06:10
Speaker 3: And then the answer is no? And why is that? Though? Those are meaningless games? And why are they meaningless? They have too many games? But you only have eighteen games.

00:06:20
Speaker 2: These guys are playing thirty games, NBA playing eighty two game, Baseball one hundred and sixty two games.

00:06:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, nobody watches but.

00:06:28
Speaker 2: Eighteen games, and you know it's gonna come down to one win or one loss if you're gonna make the playoffs or you get home field advantage, number one seed, so that you know, therefore you're on the clock when the season starts. Yet, that's why we always do that stat Teams that start out zero to two, you know, these games matter and they matter right away.

00:06:47
Speaker 3: Yeah see, I do. I do think that star players matter.

00:06:52
Speaker 4: And you want them there, and the more they play, the more likely they are to not be there.

00:06:57
Speaker 3: And I do think that's important.

00:06:58
Speaker 4: I know we root for teams, and I know we tend to just talk about players like they're replaceable and sort of cattle just one end, next man up, doesn't matter.

00:07:07
Speaker 3: But I do think it's important to have the names out there.

00:07:11
Speaker 2: It just comes down to quarterbacks. If the quarterbacks are going to be able to play, people will watch. You don't want to watch the backup quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, even if they're not going to be in the playoffs. You still want to watch Patrick Mahomes. It's the only position where you go is Joe Burrow playing? If not, then I might not watch that but yeah, that would be my biggest concern is and that's why they've changed the rules to protect the quarterbacks, because they know that's who drives ratings. And if you're selling a game, you know when you see the coming up on Sunday Night football, and all of a sudden, you know it's Davis Mills against who is Cam Hayward and you're.

00:07:49
Speaker 3: Like, uh huh no offense. Yeah, of course not yeah, Paul.

00:07:54
Speaker 6: But the one thing that NFL never really has to worry about is load management, because no one's going to sit guys in September October. I just looked at it. On December twentieth. The only conference, the only division that was not still in flux was the NFC East. The Eagles kind of had it, but every division, all the wild cards were still in play in late December. So you can't sit guys in week sixteen or seventeen. Someday it will happen. Someday some team will be sixteen and one and can sit some guys, but it's going to be an anomaly.

00:08:22
Speaker 2: I saw this story today. The Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar has been granted a temporary restraining order against the NCUBLEA. He is trying to come back for an eighth season in college football.

00:08:39
Speaker 9: Get a job.

00:08:41
Speaker 3: He's trying there.

00:08:43
Speaker 2: You know, there's nil money there and if I could make money that I'm not going to make in the NFL.

00:08:49
Speaker 6: Doctor Aguilar turns twenty five in June.

00:08:53
Speaker 2: By the way, eight he wants to come back for his eighth season in college football.

00:09:00
Speaker 3: We got a cap this, you know, we got a cap it at some point, yeah, Paul.

00:09:05
Speaker 6: And the reason the cap it is there's some freshman out there or sophomore who is right on schedule and will now not be able to play this season because of Joey Aguila.

00:09:12
Speaker 3: But didn't diego, Pavia. Doesn't he want to come back?

00:09:15
Speaker 2: I would stay forever for yes, Yeah, sure, Yeah, he's five. I didn't move off campus until I was twenty four. I had graduated a sketchy vie. I know it was I love you, but that wow. I had office off campus housing.

00:09:31
Speaker 6: Okay, I gotta ask it. You're off campus at Dayton. Yeah, were you living with current active students?

00:09:38
Speaker 3: Yes? I was, Yes, I was here.

00:09:42
Speaker 2: I was working at a radio station anywhere, ding Morning Drive on WTUE, Dayton's best rock and roll and it was about twelve minutes door to door, and I thought, why not stay here? The rent is really cheap, and I I.

00:10:00
Speaker 3: Had my own bedroom. Whoa, you're a twenty four while now, and I know, I know, look at you, and I didn't want to move out. You know, did you appeal for a six year of old?

00:10:14
Speaker 1: Uh?

00:10:14
Speaker 2: There was nothing appealing about me back then, but uh yeah. I was there on campus, off campus, and then I met a woman and then all of a sudden, she's like, well, where do you live? And then I said, well, I you know, I lived down close to campus and she goes, like, in campus housing.

00:10:33
Speaker 3: I said kind of like, no, it's cool. I got my own room.

00:10:38
Speaker 2: I got I got a black light poster. I mean, I got some lava lamp, I.

00:10:42
Speaker 3: Got some things. It's totally cool. I got my own room and everything.

00:10:45
Speaker 2: And she came over and that was the only time she ever came over. We had an empty keg.

00:10:52
Speaker 3: As you walked.

00:10:53
Speaker 2: The refrigerator was off the wall, so it was out in the hallway. There was an empty keg there. We did have Popte Parrie in the downstairs bathroom, by the way. It was a really nice touch.

00:11:06
Speaker 3: Got a good situation. Yeah, I shouldn't speak.

00:11:08
Speaker 5: I lived at home, so I have nothing to say.

00:11:11
Speaker 7: But if I was living away at some point, you got.

00:11:13
Speaker 5: To cut it off.

00:11:13
Speaker 3: Its you live with your mom.

00:11:15
Speaker 7: I did you come in with the with the cookies and milk. I'm like, you know, I'm trying to hook up here in my old bedroom.

00:11:19
Speaker 5: I don't need you walking in on.

00:11:20
Speaker 3: Okay, how old were you when you moved out? I moved out at twenty two.

00:11:25
Speaker 5: I graduated YU and then I moved to.

00:11:27
Speaker 3: LA for that's not bad, that's not bad, but you I missed out on the whole college.

00:11:32
Speaker 5: It's living away.

00:11:33
Speaker 2: And yeah, and the way you looked back then, wow, a waste, Yes, wasted.

00:11:39
Speaker 3: I would have gone. I would have walked around with no shirt on if I look like you.

00:11:43
Speaker 7: I did that when I was a camp counselor. I had a little window there over the summer where I wasn't wearing my shirt.

00:11:47
Speaker 2: But yeah, but you're right next to another guy who his nipple is touching your nipple with your shirt.

00:11:53
Speaker 3: But I wasn't on a campus to being able to show up.

00:11:55
Speaker 7: I'm in like some apartment building with a bunch of elderly people where my mom and family were river.

00:12:00
Speaker 6: Yes, Oh yeah, Dan, the iteam is breaking this down, and Todd walking around shirtless at a summer camp for kids is creepier than you living with college kids at twenty four, trying to press the counselor right and new Pole questions. Sadder you living in a college apartment at twenty four, fritzy living at home until age twenty two and missing college.

00:12:18
Speaker 2: Well, to be fair, it was off campus housing technically where I live, and if I walked probably one hundred and fifty feet, there was a bar right there, Tim's, And.

00:12:31
Speaker 4: Which is weird because most people around you were underage and couldn't drink at that bar, but you were able to go in there.

00:12:36
Speaker 3: I was buying beer for everybody. You're like, norm damn yeah, where you're dealing too while you're there.

00:12:44
Speaker 2: You know, they were pretty leanent at the University of Dayton, you know, as far as serving you off off campus there. Let's see Robin Pennsylvania, Good morning, Rob Wood's on your mind today?

00:12:58
Speaker 10: Hey, how you guys doing. I just wanted to weigh in on the eighteen game season for NFL. I think I have an answer that would work for everybody, Okay, eighteen games, two bye weeks. We're going to start Labor Day weekend. We're going to end President's Day weekend with the super Bowl to give that extra room for the bye week.

00:13:16
Speaker 3: But here's the kicker.

00:13:18
Speaker 10: Players are only allowed to play in sixteen games, so that sixteen games in twenty weeks keeps them well rested. It's up to the coach when they want to sit them. And it'll help the NFL Players Association because they're going to get an extra probably a dozen to fifteen roster spots out of it, give some of them UFL guys a chance to get into games, and you know, help that talent pool for the league. And it's also going to keep the higher end player contracts down because they're playing sixteen games, so now you don't have to give them sixty seventy eighty million. You can keep them at that fifty million, if you know, for the big guys. And I think it would also give you guys some fodder to talk about, oh, why did the coach sit this player in this game and now they just lost the game because of it kind of thing.

00:13:58
Speaker 3: So I think, well that that'll be a tough sell roup I mean, I understand what you're saying, but I don't need, you know, fodder for the show where I go, why did they sit that guy? Or why didn't you sit out that game? Yes, Todd not to mention.

00:14:13
Speaker 7: Just like with the NBA, from one game to the next, you buy tickets. It's like, oh, I didn't know he wasn't he wasn't gonna play in Week nine. That's my favorite player. I'm gonna totally miss him for my one home game.

00:14:21
Speaker 3: Of year that I go to. Yeah. See right now.

00:14:24
Speaker 4: Early voting how many games should we played in the NFL season sixteen seventeen eighteen sixteen has seventy percent.

00:14:30
Speaker 3: Of the vote. Oh yeah.

00:14:32
Speaker 2: Oh, by the way, Kawhi Leonard got added to the NBA All Star Team. All right, No, he should have been added instead. He should have been on there instead of Lebron. But I think it like the commissioner has like some designated spot. I don't I just saw that. You know, it's the Adam Silver roster spot for the All Star Game. Oh man, And I don't know it's because the Slippers are the host team that he kind of said, Hey, like we never knew about the commissioner's exemplist and then all of a sudden, it's like, wait, where's that been when Adrian Peterson got sent to a timeout?

00:15:13
Speaker 3: But I don't know if.

00:15:15
Speaker 2: Adam's like he was able to put one more rosters spot on the All Star Game. I don't know if he did it for the other team as well, the International team? Do they get an extra one?

00:15:26
Speaker 3: Marvin?

00:15:27
Speaker 9: I have no idea, but I do know they put out the rosters for the three different teams. Yeah, Steph, Lebron and Katie are all on the same team.

00:15:34
Speaker 3: So go figure of course. Yeah that the old guys, Yeah, yes.

00:15:39
Speaker 7: Yeah, No disrespect to the Stars, but the Stripes are strong. The biggest names all seem to be on one side of the curtain.

00:15:45
Speaker 6: They are.

00:15:46
Speaker 7: The Stars have some good players, but the Stripes team is great?

00:15:49
Speaker 3: Is that the international team? Now that the two US tea the Stars.

00:15:53
Speaker 7: Team and one's called the Stripes, and all the biggest names seem to be on the Stripe side for I don't know what the reason is.

00:16:00
Speaker 3: It is? Is it they're loaded?

00:16:02
Speaker 5: They are?

00:16:03
Speaker 9: Okay, Pascal Siakam's gonna have a long night.

00:16:06
Speaker 2: Well, the international team is good. If everybody's able to play. I think back, Oh, is he gonna play in this?

00:16:13
Speaker 5: I think I believe?

00:16:13
Speaker 2: So okay, Uh, and then you got Janni's, you got Luca, you got uh, Jamal Murray, Jamal Murray, Shay Gilgus, Alexander Junior the third Yeah, PAULI.

00:16:25
Speaker 6: So this new format USA versus the world. They needed one more player to balance the team's of course, and Adam Silver was allowed to pick that player.

00:16:33
Speaker 3: So this is a new thing.

00:16:34
Speaker 6: It's not like in the past a commission because I'm gonna throw this guy on the squad.

00:16:38
Speaker 3: Who's the Rockets guy Sagoon?

00:16:41
Speaker 5: No?

00:16:41
Speaker 2: No, like that's how Kawai means. No, I'm saying he has incredible numbers. Oh yeah, Now you can make a case for him not making it. Uh and Kawhi, But Kawhi is gonna get the the designated roster spot and uh Harden got traded to the Cabs. They started out at plus twenty five hundred to win the NBA title. After the trade, they're now at plus twelve hundred, same odds as the Timberwolves, thunder or number one not close, then the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Calves, and then your New York Knicks will take a break. 00:21:31
Speaker 3: Talks about an eighteen game schedule.

00:21:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the player Association say, you know, we don't want it, we don't need it.

00:21:38
Speaker 3: Now.

00:21:38
Speaker 2: This is the last leverage play that these players in the Player Association are.

00:21:42
Speaker 3: Going to have for a long time. I'm gonna guess, yeah, uh, should we go to eighteen games? And if so, what, No, we shouldn't.

00:21:49
Speaker 12: I don't think the players ever wanted to go to Thursday night games either. You know, you look at it from a health and safety standpoint, you know, getting three days off days off and then getting right back out there and playing and going to getting like seventy car accidents again is never a good thing for the players. The one thing I would say is that if the NFL does want to go to eighteen and the players want to make more money, this would be the time for them to claw back the rookies being capped. You know, they capped the rookies and because of that, it created shorter careers because now the rookies are cheaper. So if you're a ten year vet and they can go get a running back for less than a million.

00:22:29
Speaker 3: Bucks, let's just Sam Bradford the last.

00:22:31
Speaker 12: Yes he was, I was like seventy or eighty million, right. So then Drew Brees is sitting there and he's like, there's.

00:22:37
Speaker 5: No way this guy should be making more money than me. I'm like, I agree, but don't tell your agent and you can make more money.

00:22:44
Speaker 12: And I always thought that was a mistake by the veterans at that time. So they could use this eighteenth game to uncap the rookies and I promise you salaries with skyrocket.

00:22:52
Speaker 2: But also, if you look at eighteen games people are gonna watch. Yeah, I don't think people are concerned about player safety. Only if your quarterback, right, yeah, only if my quarterback is not going to be able to play correct because everybody else feels like interchangeable, even though that's not true. But if Mahomes is out there or his backup is out there, that's a big difference. But I don't know if somebody is going to say I'm not going to watch, or I'm not going to gamble or you know, fantasy, all of the things that are attached to this just too much money.

00:23:24
Speaker 12: I think the players are more worried about player safety than maybe the league and or the fans. But when you look at you know, the seventeenth game right now, teams that are in the playoffs, they're not playing their starters anyway. And we've seen so many backup quarterbacks play over the years, and I think if we looked at the numbers, there's probably been more backup quarterbacks that have played because of that extra game and because of those Thursday night games and the rise of injuries.

00:23:47
Speaker 2: I keep seeing this story it's not going away, and it's Drake May's shoulder. Oh like it's oh, you know, he's full participant now or he's able to throw now. I don't know if it's just because it's a Super Bowl week and we're looking for something.

00:24:02
Speaker 3: Right it do you think it's something.

00:24:06
Speaker 5: I think it's Mike Rabel just you know, playing coy a little bit. You look at.

00:24:12
Speaker 12: Sam Donald's injury with the oblique right a lot of people were saying, Oh, he's trying to find excuses as to why he's not gonna play. Well, I think y'all know what I'm talking about. I thought that was ridiculous. But when you look at Drake May, there's an opportunity there for them to say, Hey, maybe maybe he can't throw it as well. Maybe they're trying to lull the Seahawks to sleep knowing that he's gonna come out there and be able to toss it around with the best of them. But I don't think it's necessarily an issue. But the issue for me with Drake May right now is the fifteen sacks in the three games. They haven't been able to protect him, and I think there's been a mandate from very able to tell him, do not hurt us, do not throw interceptions, protect the football. We have a good enough defense to get it done. In our running game is good enough. I don't think that itself is gonna be good enough in the Super Bowl though.

00:24:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think his legs have to win this game. Do of everything that they need, I think they need Drake May to be rushing for like sixty yards something like that. Make them pay because I thought he could have done that the last game. I thought there were openings there against Denver and he didn't. Now I know the conditions, but I'd rather have that than just hand off to the running back and he's gonna get two or three yards there.

00:25:20
Speaker 12: Yeah, and it's it's what he did on that last play to kind of seal it. I've been saying for two weeks that Drake May needs to get it, needs to get out in the open field and get jiggy with it, right. He has to use his legs. It's just it's the bottom line. And when I look back and look at the numbers and I'm like, you know, he actually has been getting jiggy with it out in the open field. I think he's got nine scrambles, you know, in the postseason. I think only person that's run for more yards in recent postseasons has been Patrick Mahomes. So I just want to see him instead of having I'd like to see him have nine scrambles in this game.

00:25:52
Speaker 5: Yeah. The Seahawks are not.

00:25:54
Speaker 12: Great at stopping quarterbacks who scramble, giving up over five yards per scramble, but they're great at stopping traditional running backs. So for from Drake may standpoint, get on the open field when they when they pressure you, because they are going to pressure you, make them pay with your feet so that they can kind of sit back a little bit and now you can go pick him apart, even if your shoulders hurting.

00:26:14
Speaker 5: A little bit?

00:26:14
Speaker 3: Are you okay? You seem cold?

00:26:16
Speaker 5: I'm not cold. I'm not cold at all.

00:26:17
Speaker 3: You're just acting cold.

00:26:19
Speaker 5: I'm not I'm acting cold cold.

00:26:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're kind of squirming around. You want a heater over there?

00:26:24
Speaker 5: No, no, no, I'm just trying to make sure I look at everybody in the eyes.

00:26:28
Speaker 3: Oh, you're going to your like fourth and fifth read here?

00:26:31
Speaker 5: Is that what you do?

00:26:34
Speaker 3: It's good?

00:26:37
Speaker 2: Is Sam Donald? Has he removed that bust guy? Like he got to the Super Bowl? Does he still have to win the Super Bowl? You know for you to you know, co sign on this for me?

00:26:49
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:26:49
Speaker 5: No, no, I'm I'm all in. I'm all in on Sam Donald. I think for the public. Yeah, he has to.

00:26:56
Speaker 12: This could really be a Jared Goff situation if if he does not play well in.

00:27:02
Speaker 5: The super Bowl.

00:27:03
Speaker 12: Hell, I forgot Jared Goff played in the Super Bowl. A couple of weeks ago when I was tweeting about this because he played so he played so bad that the fans kind of and the coach kind of, yeah, kicked him to Detroit. Right, So when I look.

00:27:19
Speaker 2: At if they win that Super Bowl, do they make that trade for Matthew Stafford?

00:27:23
Speaker 5: No, not even close. Yeah they don't.

00:27:26
Speaker 2: But but Stafford's an upgrade anyway, Oh he is. But would it be the loyalty if you won a Super Bowl for us?

00:27:32
Speaker 12: Has anyone anyone ever traded the quarterback that they won a Super Bowl with the next year?

00:27:38
Speaker 9: I don't know, Paul check what Marvin the Ravens got rid of Trent dilfer the after they won the Super Bowl?

00:27:43
Speaker 12: Okay, but is Sam Donald Trent Dilferd No respect to Trent Dilferd.

00:27:49
Speaker 5: No, you won a super Bowl.

00:27:50
Speaker 3: I did not want to Super all respect, my guy.

00:27:55
Speaker 4: Does anybody get dragged more for winning a Super Bowl than Trent delt No one does.

00:27:58
Speaker 5: But you won a Super Bowl. No, you can't get mad that.

00:28:01
Speaker 12: So I think Sam Donald, to answer your question, I think it's one of the greatest comeback stories in NFL history because he was drafted so high, went from seeing ghosts to now, what.

00:28:15
Speaker 3: Did you see.

00:28:15
Speaker 2: Ghosts in the pocket. You just never admitted it. No, I never saw ghosts in the pocket.

00:28:19
Speaker 12: But I think he He's a super honest dude. And the one thing I've I've been really fond of Sam for Actually, I coached Sam at the All American Game when he's in high school. So I got a picture of me and him. Maybe I'll post it after they won Super Bowl, but I coached him at that point, and he's always been a humble young man.

00:28:35
Speaker 3: If he doesn't win the Super Bowl, you're not gonna post.

00:28:37
Speaker 5: I'll definitely post. I'm rooting for you still. I got your back. But he's never taken a shot at the Jets.

00:28:47
Speaker 2: He never had to him, and he just said, hey, I learned.

00:28:51
Speaker 12: Yeah, I learned, And that's what. That's what That's what I saw. That's a clip that I saw from your show with him. You are done a great job. But I just think he's playing so well these last two games, protecting the football. You talked about the interception like the prop bet. Yeah, yeah, he's more likely to do that, but he's protected the football so far in the playoffs, and he's got all the fixings at the dinner table, right now starting with Jackson Smith and Gibba at Gibba and then you got you know, Rashid Shaheed Cooper Cup. Uh, they got Kenneth Walker in there in the backfield. I just the Seahawks team seems like they're ready to go get their bike back from this Patriots?

00:29:22
Speaker 3: Can you say RG three football and get your bike back?

00:29:26
Speaker 5: Is to get your bike back?

00:29:27
Speaker 8: Game?

00:29:27
Speaker 5: Baby out of pocket? With three? You like that one?

00:29:32
Speaker 3: I haven't heard the getting your bike from the movie Friday Friday.

00:29:38
Speaker 5: Say you got your bike back? I'll give you another one.

00:29:40
Speaker 9: Uh.

00:29:42
Speaker 5: Bruce Lee Roy is show enough? All right? The Master? Who's the Master? So right now it feels like the Patriots are show enough?

00:29:48
Speaker 3: Wait? Is that the name of the movie.

00:29:50
Speaker 5: The Last Last Dragon? You ever seen? The Last Dragon? It's the Black Bruce Lee story. Basically his name is Bruce Lee Roy.

00:29:57
Speaker 12: Bruce Lee Roy, Yes, basically showing up, basically showing up as the Patriots.

00:30:06
Speaker 5: They've been bullying the Seahawks.

00:30:08
Speaker 12: For a while, and now Bruce Leroy is coming up and he said, you know what, I.

00:30:11
Speaker 5: Got the glow? Now you know what I'm saying?

00:30:13
Speaker 13: Yes?

00:30:14
Speaker 3: Was that with kiss my converse and de Barge I don't remember Fritzy kiss your converse.

00:30:24
Speaker 8: My man got the culture of must see your baby.

00:30:29
Speaker 9: The morning light.

00:30:33
Speaker 3: Forget about the words on your mind.

00:30:35
Speaker 7: You can leave them all behind to the beat.

00:30:43
Speaker 5: We are a musical. Now, this is notable.

00:30:45
Speaker 3: You probably didn't think you were going to be doing this.

00:30:47
Speaker 5: And it's always an adventure when we're on the show.

00:30:52
Speaker 2: It's still painful for me to watch the play at the goal line with Seattle against New England, with Marshawn and with r G three. If you were in that situation, oh yeah, and Darryl Bebble calls the play, is there a check down? I mean, can you change the play? Do you think if you're RG three in that moment?

00:31:17
Speaker 5: Yeah, you can.

00:31:18
Speaker 12: You know what you really do is you listen to the play and then you act like your headset went out.

00:31:24
Speaker 3: What I can't hear you huh?

00:31:27
Speaker 12: And you hand the ball off to Marshaun Lynch and listen. I've done it before in my career when I heard a play come in and I didn't love the play call in that moment, in that situation, and I changed it.

00:31:38
Speaker 3: But not with the super Bowl on the line.

00:31:40
Speaker 12: You have to you have to there's some truth to what Marshawn, Richard Sherman, Cam Chancellor have alluded to that that was a glory moment they wanted.

00:31:53
Speaker 2: They wanted that make sense, they wanted Rush to be the MVP. I thought, I.

00:31:57
Speaker 12: Don't didn't necessarily disagree with that, because I know coaches in my own career when we've gotten into the red zone, they have made calls because they want a guy to get the numbers, they want a guy to have more rushing touchdowns or whatever it may be. So I think it was a glory moment, and they gave him the option to throw that slant. And if you're the quarterback in that moment, you have to say to yourself, what's the smartest play I can make? Here we're dominating them on the ground. I'm handing the ball off to Marshawn Lynch.

00:32:26
Speaker 2: I bet if he gets stopped now the clock time out, and then because Belichick knew that, Yeah, but just the fact that the most unsung part of that is Browner jams the receiver right so he can't have a pick, And the fact that they practice that on Wednesday, you know, mccordy told us, he said, you know, that's the key. You jam the guy who's gonna pick, and Malcolm has free reign. You gotta go straight ahead. And I mean it's the greatest play in Super Bowl history.

00:32:58
Speaker 5: And he's coming from depth.

00:32:59
Speaker 12: So if they don't run this land they turn it into a corner out or something, he's just in a collision the receiver and then kind of go with him.

00:33:05
Speaker 2: I thought a run pass option. I don't allowed you to russ could run or if you're gonna throw it, nobody's around it, you can throw it away.

00:33:14
Speaker 12: I don't blame Russell Wilson for making the throw. I blame the coaches for making it an option that that to me, is the is the key there, because you are asking what a second year quarterback to say, you know, screw the coach, I'm gonna do I'm gonna do what I want to do. I'm gonna hand the ball off to Marshawn because that's what the right thing to do is.

00:33:33
Speaker 5: I don't blame the quarterback in that moment.

00:33:35
Speaker 2: But if you you see Pete Carroll and there's an ISO camera on him and he is he's brought to his knees like he is devastated and you see Marshawn Lynch walking over to the sidelines and Pete Carroll's standing there and he knows Marshaun's not.

00:33:51
Speaker 3: Even make an eye contact though.

00:33:52
Speaker 12: Yeah, it's a kind of play that makes the player hate you forever. And I think we've we've we've heard over the years that there's there's some of those defensive guys as in including marsha on that that hate that staff despite the fact that they want a Super Bowl together.

00:34:05
Speaker 3: But did they turn on Rush after that?

00:34:08
Speaker 6: Oh?

00:34:08
Speaker 5: Yeah, why?

00:34:12
Speaker 12: Because when you when when losing happens, especially at the highest level, they're all looking for someone to point the finger at. Now, say they handed off to Marshaw and Marshan doesn't get in. Do you think Marshan's as hated as as Russell has become over the years. No, not at all, because that was the obvious play to make. And of course Marshaan's like, you know, he's like soup dog. He can he can smoke weed and do what ever he wants to do.

00:34:35
Speaker 8: And they're like, yeah, yeah, but Russell can go to you know, children's hospitals and give back to the community.

00:34:46
Speaker 5: And they're like, yeah, screw that guy. I don't. I don't agree with that.

00:34:50
Speaker 12: But at the same time, when you lose at that level and everyone's like, this is the obvious decision to make, they're gonna point that finger. And I think they continually pointed at Russ more more than they pointed at Pete or anyone else in.

00:35:02
Speaker 3: The side I know.

00:35:03
Speaker 2: And he was the best player on the field that night. In my opinion, I thought Russ was better than Tom. He was and man, you just have that one that one play, and.

00:35:14
Speaker 3: What that does? You know?

00:35:15
Speaker 2: Pete would have two Super Bowls, Russ would have to guaranteed Hall of.

00:35:18
Speaker 3: Famer and he's still be in Seattle.

00:35:21
Speaker 5: You think so one hundred percent.

00:35:22
Speaker 12: I think that single moment deteriorated the entire dynasty that was building in Seattle because it pitted them against each other at that point.

00:35:32
Speaker 3: It's always great to see you.

00:35:34
Speaker 2: We love when you come on and thank you for all the contributions during the season.

00:35:38
Speaker 5: No, I appreciate you, guys, many of the best.

00:35:39
Speaker 2: He is RG three is out of pocket with RG three podcast. We'll take a break, We're back after this on the Dan Patrick Show.

00:35:47
Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live.

00:36:03
Speaker 2: Oh, I really enjoy RG three because he says things he's entertaining as well, and just that whole thing with Russell Wilson and how that changed careers and the fact that russ maybe was never really the same and Pete Carroll would have had two Super Bowls. By the way, during the commercial break, we had an incident here. This audience is awesome and they were applauding. So they were cheering, and there was it's a running path right behind us, and there was a woman who was running by, and the audience is applauding because you know, we're doing the show, we're going to commercial break, and they were being polite. The woman gets mad because she thinks that they're applauding her as she's running by.

00:36:50
Speaker 3: Yes, Paul, I heard the woman go mind your business. We didn't do it like it was a sarcastic cheer. Wow, you made it a lap around the thing. I have no idea, what what'd you get upset about that?

00:37:00
Speaker 2: I would have thought if somebody's applauding me running by you, I got.

00:37:04
Speaker 3: A nice little thing going here, best time ever.

00:37:07
Speaker 2: She took it personally, apparently that they were applauding, like, Okay, look at you.

00:37:13
Speaker 5: In your business.

00:37:13
Speaker 2: That's a little come on it is that's a little it's a little aggressive Todd. Let me see a couple of phone calls in here. How about Ben and Akron? Hey Ben, what's on your mind today?

00:37:25
Speaker 14: First time long time sorts person started Colls football.

00:37:32
Speaker 10: A little nice goten running?

00:37:34
Speaker 1: All right?

00:37:35
Speaker 3: So here we go.

00:37:35
Speaker 14: Eighteen schedule, eighteen game schedules.

00:37:39
Speaker 3: You only play do you want to call me back when you get your breath there? I mean, so you.

00:37:45
Speaker 10: Only play the AFC, you only play the conference, and you play the Vision twice still, so you keep the rivalries.

00:37:51
Speaker 3: So the schedules no more even and then in the.

00:37:54
Speaker 14: Playoffs you can kind.

00:37:56
Speaker 7: Of do what the sect Bosso used to do, the number seven seed in the AFC.

00:38:02
Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, no.

00:38:03
Speaker 2: I can't do this. Then I can't. I can't, I can't do it. I mean, we just talked about eighteen games.

00:38:10
Speaker 3: I don't.

00:38:11
Speaker 2: I don't need to break down the schedule. I just maybe another day, okay, yes, one.

00:38:17
Speaker 9: He sounded like a kid in the wheelchair for Malcolm in the.

00:38:19
Speaker 3: Middle deep cut that he's always trying to catch it. Oh, car Brad he lost his inhaler or something.

00:38:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, not not for a while here. I don't I just don't want to break down the schedule.

00:38:37
Speaker 3: Pete.

00:38:37
Speaker 2: I'm going to go to you, but don't bore me with all that stuff. Pete in South Carolina.

00:38:42
Speaker 3: Hye Peters, So yeah.

00:38:45
Speaker 14: Six three, two, ten.

00:38:48
Speaker 12: And uh.

00:38:50
Speaker 14: First of all, no Thursday night football shoot and kick off until after the bye week.

00:38:55
Speaker 3: It should be bad.

00:38:56
Speaker 14: There's no reason to do that, especially for player health. Like RG three was talking about, I actually do care about the player's help because I'm in my fifties. I'm a dad, so I used to be rooting for guys to get crushed. Now I'm like slide man watch it.

00:39:11
Speaker 13: You know.

00:39:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not a big Thursday Night I've never been a big Thursday Night fan.

00:39:16
Speaker 3: And thanks for the phone call. It's just too much to ask for them.

00:39:20
Speaker 2: And plus the play, it feels like suffers as well.

00:39:24
Speaker 3: So the quality of the play.

00:39:26
Speaker 2: Yes, I'm concerned about player safety, but I want quality play. If you're gonna, you know, have them turn around and you know four days later.

00:39:33
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:39:33
Speaker 4: See Yeah, that's a kind of a common thread under the pole question is that, like this person has said, every added game diminishes the product via injury. Add that to the Thursday Night games, the International Games, and you have players that are banged up, exhausted, not performing at their peak, and that impacts the quality of games. There's very much a quality over quantity current running through the poll.

00:39:53
Speaker 3: Question Julian in Florida. Hi, Julian, what's on your mind?

00:39:57
Speaker 13: I don't know, Dan, how are you first private caller? Two hundred and five pounds? And my question is, is this considered the greatest week in sports? Like media week, Super Bowl? The anticipation coming up over let's say an opening day for Major League baseball or the opening week for college football. What's your opinion on that?

00:40:24
Speaker 3: But that that's not bigger than this.

00:40:27
Speaker 2: The build up to this, you get a week it's yours, You get all of the players who come back, players are interviewed, you're celebrating the game, you got the Hall of Fame.

00:40:39
Speaker 3: Then you hope the game lives up to the hype. Yes, Marvin, I.

00:40:43
Speaker 9: Don't know if this counts, but the first four days at NCAA tournament.

00:40:47
Speaker 2: Wait, are you doing the Wednesday Tuesday Wednesday playing or you doing the.

00:40:52
Speaker 3: Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday.

00:40:54
Speaker 9: No disrespect to the first four in Dayton, but NA Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday.

00:40:59
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:41:00
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:41:01
Speaker 9: Does that rival super Bowl Week as far as excite super Bowl Week as far as excitement?

00:41:06
Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, okay, yes, Paulie.

00:41:09
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm with Marvin on that because the nca tournament that first week is a week now you're even spilling back over to the conference title games of the previous weekend, so you're inundated with buzzer beaters and stuff.

00:41:20
Speaker 3: The Super Bowl is a great six hours, yes, Ton.

00:41:23
Speaker 7: And those are the actual games going on Thursday Friday Saturday, so a full slate from noon to midnight, one in the morning. This was just hyping up this one game for several days in advance till they finally play on Sunday. Yeah.

00:41:33
Speaker 2: I'd love to take the show to Vegas for those first four days.

00:41:38
Speaker 3: Oh now, let's do it.

00:41:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, we might have to change that then we don't go back for Formula one that we do the first four the Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday in Las Vegas.

00:41:51
Speaker 3: What could go wrong?

00:41:52
Speaker 2: Todd only Everything, Final Hour on the way. On this Wednesday, we'll talk to Danner law Hovsky of the Mothership. More of your phone calls as well. Eight seven seven to three DP show back for the Final Hour right after this
