00:00:12 Speaker 1: It is one fifty in the morning in Lexington, Kentucky. It is ten to fifty here in Seattle. And how about that win, Big Blue Nation. An absolute master class of a performance by Kentucky as they take out Gonzaga in one of the best non conference games that I can ever remember. Kentucky and Mark Pope become Mark Pope becomes only the second coach in UK history to win his first two games against top ten opponents, having beaten Duke and Gonzaga by the other one. The other one's name was Adolph Rup. 00:00:47 Speaker 2: He was pretty good. 00:00:48 Speaker 1: We are here at the Atlas Sports Bar. It is an unbelievable night. Kentucky beats Gonzaga ninety to eighty nine. It's a local toy dealers KSR postgame show. I got everybody here, I got I got chanted, and I got back, so I got ryot. Mario was wondering around taking fireball shots. It's absolutely packed with people. Seattle, the historic climate planed arena of the site for one of the best games I can remember in the non conference. So the only thing that's even close for me is North Carolina and Kentucky and Vegas. Yelp back the Malik Monkey. That's the only game I can remember like this. Cat's down as many as eighteen in the second half, come back and win in overtime. I got a lot of thoughts, but let's each take a quick ten to twenty second hit on what you thought about the game. 00:01:34 Speaker 2: What a game? 00:01:34 Speaker 3: I mean, that was a big shot after big shot, really exciting game. I cannot believe Kentucky came back and won that game. 00:01:42 Speaker 4: I really can't. 00:01:42 Speaker 3: I mean, I thought they were dead in the water, and they found a way with your point guard out, your backup point guard left, and you still found. 00:01:49 Speaker 4: A way to win the game. That's a sign of a good team, right there, buddy. 00:01:53 Speaker 5: I want to give a shout out to two people. Matt always talks about the people driving home. Good luck to you next day and a half driving home from this one. Hopefully you've got plenty of time, Dapoleon. And then the second person, I'm the most tundrated person, probably the game. 00:02:06 Speaker 2: The witch. 00:02:06 Speaker 5: The witch they gave us the breaking candle, right yeah, the greatest life we've ever had in that live Thank you to that which she was probably watching. 00:02:15 Speaker 6: She probably tuned in. 00:02:17 Speaker 7: Than the KSR curse is broken. So was the rule of seventy one to night. Because Gonzaga got the seventy one first, Kentucky still came back, showed a lot of fight, a lot of grit, and I think that going zone in the second half was a big difference in the game. That completely threw off the Zaga's offense and the game changed at that moment. 00:02:37 Speaker 8: Well, I'll just filled off of Shannon's point there because it's kind of my point. It's the same recipe as the Duke game. They went down big, looked like they didn't belong on the same court, and then they go into halftime, make the adjustments, come out look like a completely different team. Well, they have like a sixteen to two run there. I mean, Gonzaga was scoring at will early and then out of the second half with the zone and just completely changed the intensity We've now seen at least twice. Pope calls it collecting data early. I wish he didn't have to collect so much. But I mean they come out as a completely different team in the second half again and get a top ten wins. 00:03:08 Speaker 2: All right, I'm gonna do. 00:03:10 Speaker 1: I have a million things I could say, but I'm gonna do like five things. Let's start with number one, Mark Pope. That's how you coach. Like, that's coaching right there. 00:03:19 Speaker 2: That is coaching. 00:03:20 Speaker 1: They come out in the first half, things don't really work, adjustments at halftime, looks like a different team in the second half. I mean, that's what you hope for. You hope you don't play like they did in the first half when they were down sixteen, but then you hope to get. 00:03:33 Speaker 2: That in the second half. What an amazing job for Mark. 00:03:36 Speaker 1: If there were any questions about whether or not Mark was the guy, and there shouldn't have been after Duke there certainly isn't now second Jackson Robinson. We've been sitting there going do they have a dude? Do they have a dude? Do they have a dude? He's the dude, all right, He's the dude. Andrew Carr played great too, don't get me wrong, but he's the dude. He had the ball in his hands. I thought the two most important plays of the game, actually the three most important plays game. 00:04:00 Speaker 2: He made all of them. 00:04:01 Speaker 1: The two passes to start overtime, the one where he found oh Way cutting too the basket, the length of the court pass which Mark Pope said in the postgame press conference. 00:04:10 Speaker 2: So that was pretty gutsy, well, at least it weren't. 00:04:13 Speaker 8: Four different hands could have touched that. 00:04:15 Speaker 6: It went through all of them and he caught it. 00:04:17 Speaker 1: And then the shot at the end, which was basically the game winning shot, all of those made by Jackson Robbins. Three the defense. I think, Shannon, you hit it with the one three to one. I asked Pope in the postgame press conference, what made you play the one three one? He goes, well, when you're getting crushed doing anything else, might as well try something. 00:04:36 Speaker 8: But it worked. 00:04:37 Speaker 1: It started as a one three one and then it morphed as it went on to a one three one that would collapse into a man demand. Gonzaga seemed completely baffled by. I think they did it seven plays and Gonzaga only scored on one, and it was the last one, and it's just because Carr lost his man and gave up an open corner three. I think if Carr hadn't lost his man, they might not scored on that all the time. Those were huge. I think that was a really good point to bring that up. The environment, the big Blue Nation. They can't hear me right now, but that was awesome. That was a great college basketball environment. Eighty percent of the fans there were probably Gonzaga fans. Probably twenty percent were Kentucky fans. But those twenty percent were as loud as the eighty percent. When Gonzaga would hit a shot, it'd be loud. When Kentucky would hit a shot to be loud. And I gotta tell you, I really like Gonzaga fans. They're what you should be. They're passionate, but they're not jerks. No, I mean it, they're not. They're into it, but they're not jerks. It was a great college basketball environment. I absolutely loved every minute of the game. I was nervous through a lot of it, but especially starting in the second half. 00:05:44 Speaker 2: That's what you won. 00:05:46 Speaker 1: And then last thing, to win that game without Lamont Butler, I mean, I think he's our most important player and he didn't play, and then Kirk Creasa went out, And I've said I took a lot of especially online mocking about saying Jackson Robinson are ol Way should be our backup point guard a lot and it worked. I'm really sorry to hear it looks like Kirk Cresa has a real injury that it's not cramps. They said foot or ankle injury. Mark said they're gonna do imaging if you hurt. His voice, it didn't sound great. It didn't sound great what he was saying. I hate that because I I wanna say this about Kirk. He couldn't guard anybody tonight. But the play he got hurt, if he ends up really hurt and misses the rest of the year, which I hope doesn't happen, I don't have any reason to think that would or want would, But that last play shows why I do love that kid. He got hurt and he got back on defense, right, He got back on defense. And if he has a serious injury and he ended up getting back on defense, to me, Drew, that's says something about that kid, and I think it says kind of why he's on the team. But when he went out, Jackson Robinson did an amazing job kind of in that point guard he basically played. 00:07:01 Speaker 2: At the last ten minutes of the game. 00:07:03 Speaker 8: Before we get Jackson, I had one ker thing with about a minute left in regulation. I was looking at the bench. He had been in the back the whole time. A trainer literally carried him out. He was on one foot, didn't have a shoe on. He couldn't get to the bench by himself. A trainer. He had his arm around a trainer and they carried him and set him on the bench and he cheered. Just star with his foot up. Sounded like it's gonna be bad. But the fact that he wanted to come out for that last minute. He was engaged as anyone out there in huddles and on the bench, but he could not stand up on it. I watched him come out. 00:07:29 Speaker 2: And my last point and I wish the people that are here could hear this. 00:07:33 Speaker 1: But you'll hear it when you listen to it on review And if you are awake tonight, I know a lot of you are, you'll agree. If you're listening on podcasts tomorrow. 00:07:40 Speaker 2: You'll agree. 00:07:42 Speaker 1: Here's what I felt like tonight after the game. This is what Kentucky basketball is supposed to be like. We've gotten away from that. You could everybody can decide when when we got away from it. Some people think it happened the moment the last coach got here. I disagree with that, but I think we can all agree it started to happened in the last few years. It just hasn't been the same. It's been too toxic. It was losing, it was antagonistic. I just want to give you a sense of what it was like in there tonight, not only all these people having fun, the atmosphere of a road game. It's been like that a lot, but when the game was over, just a few scenes. First of all, I went down on the court. A ton of Kentucky fans stayed for no reason. The team wasn't coming out. They just wanted to be there and celebrate. 00:08:30 Speaker 2: With each other. 00:08:30 Speaker 9: Mark Pope actually came up and started hugging, but. 00:08:33 Speaker 1: They already kicked people out at that point, but they literally all the people just gathered around the Kentucky bench just to say c ats and just hug strangers. Like I just think that's awesome. That's what this is supposed to be. That's what makes all of this great. Are things like that, watching the fans celebrate, people giving each other high fives, Like, yeah, it can be cheesy, but you know what, that's what makes sports great, and that's what makes community great, and that's why this is special. Our moments like that second we win in the back. I'm a human being, just like anybody else. I haven't been to a press conference in four years. I stopped going for a variety of reasons. This was my first one in like four years. I asked a question and when it was over, Mark Pope looked at me, and he looked at Jackson Robinson goes, Jackson, see that all right? 00:09:23 Speaker 6: There? 00:09:24 Speaker 1: He and five other dudes drove here from Lexington, and he said that's awesome. 00:09:29 Speaker 2: And Jackson goes, are y'all driving back? 00:09:32 Speaker 10: Now? 00:09:32 Speaker 1: Jo? I'm being look, do you know, like just to notice that right, just to notice that that's a cool thing. It was cool for me personally, but it's also just symbolic of how he notices things like that. 00:09:46 Speaker 6: And then finally, as we were about. 00:09:47 Speaker 1: To walk out, Andy Katz, who haven't seen in years, was doing an interview with Jackson Robinson and Mark Pope and I watched and at that moment there was Mark Pope, his family, the players, Witch Maarnhardt's Mark Hill, who's the assistant AD and they were all hugging and talking to each other. 00:10:07 Speaker 6: It hasn't been like that in years. 00:10:10 Speaker 1: You could cut the tension backstage at games with a knife. Every single game you'd see one person would see another person. 00:10:18 Speaker 2: Be like, oh, they don't like each other. They don't like each other. 00:10:21 Speaker 1: And it wasn't just cal Cal was part of it, but there were other people too. 00:10:25 Speaker 6: There was just it was just always he. 00:10:28 Speaker 1: Doesn't like her, he didn't like him, he doesn't do not tonight, And there was a moment where it just felt like, you know what, when it was going good, everybody was going in the same direction. 00:10:41 Speaker 2: Now. I don't think this team is as talented as. 00:10:44 Speaker 1: Twenty ten, twelve, fifteen, maybe even seventeen, but man, they're fun to watch and man they play hard, and. 00:10:51 Speaker 2: Man they seem like good kids. 00:10:53 Speaker 1: And if you can't get excited about watching this group even when they stink they stunk in the first half, that it is it's still so refreshing and fun and oh yeah, they're still pretty good. As the fact they've beaten Duke and Gonzaga to start the season. 00:11:07 Speaker 2: Both on neutral courts. 00:11:08 Speaker 3: It's it's it's a brotherhood that's been missing, I think between the players, between the players and the fan base. Coaches, you get it all and like these you like you said, these UK fans that live up here. Man, that's it felt like a tournament atmosphere because they don't. They don't get to experience that moment anymore, and they got the experience in front. 00:11:28 Speaker 4: Of their home people. I mean, it was just a special night to be there. 00:11:31 Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question, Billy. 00:11:32 Speaker 1: I know you always say we got to do something at two am. It's I know we're coming to that. Do we need to take a break or do we need to talk through it? 00:11:39 Speaker 2: No, let's break right now. When we let's let's. 00:11:41 Speaker 1: Break right now so Billy can get a stupid two am break in. 00:11:44 Speaker 2: I'm just kidding, Billy, I know you have to. We will come back. 00:11:47 Speaker 1: I want to talk some more with these guys and take your calls A five nine twenty two eighty seven and exciting when the Cats beat Gonzaga. 00:11:55 Speaker 2: We'll be right back. 00:11:56 Speaker 6: This is the local Toylet. 00:11:57 Speaker 1: Dealers KSR postgame show guy running back. It is a local Tony Dollars KSR postgame Show eighty nine, twenty two eighty seven. 00:12:07 Speaker 2: Aright, those were my bigger thoughts. 00:12:09 Speaker 1: Let's just talk amongst us here a little bit before about the game. 00:12:12 Speaker 2: Ryan. 00:12:14 Speaker 1: This is the the ties for the biggest margin of victory in a neutral court game, Kentucky's ever overcome that half time. 00:12:22 Speaker 3: It was it was unbelievable. You know, you're down eighteen. I think at one point early in the second half, your your best one of the best three point years in the country hit the side of the basket in the first half, right, they're thinking, man, this game, there's there's just no coming back. But they fought, plowwed their way into it. We've all talked about it. Switching to that zone totally threw Gonzaga off. Kentucky has to go to their third string point guard. But you said it, Jackson Robinson kind of became the guy. He became the man. Maybe he needs the ball in his hands like that, but he definitely became the man tonight. 00:12:54 Speaker 6: It wasn't just the one three one though. 00:12:56 Speaker 10: For me. 00:12:56 Speaker 5: I mean even before that, we saw it. Switching screens, we saw going underneath stress. Nimbard absolutely tour us the streads in the first half. It wasn't even close like pre Sequentin's stayed with him, like Woumbs was coming off screens. He was just dumbing it to it's k right, yea Ak was killing us. 00:13:12 Speaker 6: He probably had forty five million points. 00:13:14 Speaker 2: In the first half. 00:13:15 Speaker 5: Yeah, and then he said and then Pope because he actually makes adjustments. Is a good coaches, Like, all right, let's not do this anymore. Let's go under screens, let's switch screens. We saw the one three one for a little bit. 00:13:25 Speaker 6: It was great coaching. 00:13:26 Speaker 5: Nimbard looked confused at something half and he's a great player. He literally like dribbled the ball sometimes and was like looking around, like what should I do? 00:13:33 Speaker 6: I thought he he should have shot more in. 00:13:35 Speaker 9: The second half. 00:13:36 Speaker 7: I looked over at Ryan when it got down to like three points, and I go, I cannot believe this team came back and closed it down to three points going into tonight. Here's another stat for you. Gonzaga was one hundred and seventy five and zero, leading by ten or more at halftime. Kentucky tonight not only one. They penetrated their soul they did. 00:13:57 Speaker 8: I mean, we're happy we won, but if I can be slightly negative of k was doing whatever he wants. I hated that guy all night. He played well and ruck last year. I hope we never see him again. It was nice to whim that dude had a hell of a game. They couldn't stop him much till the very end. Luckily he missed some free throws. That guy was a nightmare. He said, you had a story you want? Yeah, I did my rapid reaction. Uh talk some fans outside. Not many people had voices. You know, you mentioned we were out numbered. They were drowning us out with the DJ. By the way, I don't know if y'all caught on, but when there would be a go Big Blue, the house DJ would like play music, but the fans were trying to power through it. But I met someone that Matt Jones would appreciate. All right, He's the one I tweeted picture of everybody, go look at it. But he at halftime, he went to the bathroom and never came out. His friends he vouched. 00:14:41 Speaker 2: He stayed in the bathroom the whole time with. 00:14:43 Speaker 8: His four friends. They all vouched that he was texting them because right out of halftime we went on a little run. 00:14:48 Speaker 2: He was staying here. 00:14:49 Speaker 8: He did not come out until the game was over. I really that is the sacrifice that only BBN con I even asked him. I was like, was there a TV in there? Nope, just sound just lip it out in. 00:15:00 Speaker 7: The whole six So they came from Kentucky too, from Denver. Okay, well, still, that's that's pretty far to go and not watch the game. That's unbelievable. 00:15:07 Speaker 2: I've done that though, I've done that on many NCA time. 00:15:10 Speaker 1: I know you have not in the bathroom, but I've left the arena for games before. 00:15:14 Speaker 8: I want to make sure to tell you about that. He watched it all just I guess, circling around urinals in there. 00:15:18 Speaker 3: I thought you were leaving today, you know, when things weren't going well, you got up. 00:15:22 Speaker 4: I thought, all, he's leaving. 00:15:23 Speaker 5: Yeah, you ted my Pope giving us a shout out after the game. He needs to give that guy and the witch a shout out. You talk about two people that changed. 00:15:31 Speaker 1: The game, they did, I uh a few more if they just uh stuff from the game. You mentioned nim Hart who killed us in the first half. But it quickly became clear, and I tell you it was the first person to note this to me was Mario, who was sitting next to me. Mario just goes that, dude, don't. 00:15:48 Speaker 2: Want to shoot. 00:15:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, he didn't, and he didn't, and it was clear Pope saw that and was basically dared even to shoot. Now, he did make a three at the end, but he did not want to shoot. 00:15:58 Speaker 2: You could tell. 00:15:59 Speaker 1: And when you were talking about going under screens, they were leaving him and he would not take the shot. 00:16:05 Speaker 6: He was just happy to just like pick and roll. 00:16:07 Speaker 5: We were going over the top, and then he was just dishing it too Eki every single time, all making his own layoffs. As soon as we started going underneath on switching it, you're daring him to shoot, and he just wouldn't do it. And he was like, well, I'm just happy of pausing and just setting everyone else up. 00:16:20 Speaker 6: And he just had no impact after that. I don't think he did. Besides he hit the big three, Big three, But besides that, he didn't do a thing in the second half. 00:16:27 Speaker 3: You know, they locked up Otega and he was locked up. You know, Kobe had a bad shooting night. So we had to find somebody's more offense besides Jackson, Robinson and Andrew Carr. The great biggest games of the year, Duke and Gonzaga. 00:16:42 Speaker 4: He plays his best offensive game, yes he did. 00:16:45 Speaker 1: You know, I always talk about threes and layups. Some people will get sick of it now. Used to drive me crazy. Maybe the two biggest shots of the game were mid range two good was buying Drew. 00:16:56 Speaker 2: Carr that tied the game in regulation, and one was about Jackson Robbins. 00:17:01 Speaker 1: It hurts me, but probably our two biggest shots Drew were mid range jumpers by those guys, both of them a runners. 00:17:08 Speaker 8: I haven't seen a shot Charter highlights or a thing yet, but I felt like most of Jackson Robinson's points for mid range. He had two threes, but he showed a lot of mid range night and attacking his in his great night. 00:17:18 Speaker 9: That fade away was so smooth that he knocked out at the end. 00:17:21 Speaker 1: He looked incomplete control at the end, and I love that he looked. I felt like in the first half, no one looked comfortable. Not one guy on our team looked comfortable. A couple guys still. I don't think Oway ever looked comfortable. I don't really think Bray ever looked comfortable. But Jackson looked comfortable at the end, and Soda car and let me at the end of regulation it didn't work so well, forget it. But Pope had a hell of a play right there. Yes, I mean that was a hell of a play. O way, if he gets a half a inch higher, that's a dunk to win the game. And I think the secondary option was Carr was wide open for three if he kicked it out. He did the one thing you can't. We just throw it into Eka's hands. But it was a hell of a drawn up play. We go ahead, we may not. I mean, I'm really hoping I'm right about this. 00:18:08 Speaker 5: I feel like Robinson sent in the corner in the second half against Front like he just he just changed the way that he played. 00:18:14 Speaker 6: And then to not it led into that. 00:18:15 Speaker 5: I mean, all of a sudden were saying, a God, that's like, yeah, give me. 00:18:18 Speaker 6: The ball, I'll. 00:18:19 Speaker 5: Shoot it, I'll past it, I'll do whatever we need to do win the game. You could just see even those passes were just full of confidence. 00:18:24 Speaker 1: Why that pass the past the court was a crazy I me, it's a two point game. And he throws at the length of the court to Amari Williams, not exactly the surest hands in the world, and he knicks it and he. 00:18:37 Speaker 8: Puts it right on Say you by the Duke game, Kobe branm we have two full leaked court passes that have won games for us still in the beginning of the game. I don't know how you fix this. Maybe it's just experience. But just these the Duke game. In this one, just right out of the gate, they look so timid and scared. We know they're better because we saw him going to win. But whatever happens in the beginning, they are completely different as it goes on. I don't know if they're just not you to be in top and having Kentucky crossed their chest in the game of that magnitude, but it's been two slow starts in their biggest games. 00:19:06 Speaker 3: I just want to add this boy Jackson Robinson. Mark Pope said tonight Jackson played some backup point guard for him at BYU, So when he's comfortable in that role, I thought doing it back at point guard is the most comportable he's looked at the entire season, Hope. 00:19:18 Speaker 1: In the press conference, one of the things he said is he said, at halftime, I looked at the coaches and he said, we realize they're pressing up on us. 00:19:27 Speaker 2: He didn't say this, but this is true. That's exactly what Climpson did. 00:19:30 Speaker 1: Let's go back to the game before that, That's exactly what Western did. Yeah, those the teams that were giving us problems, they've decided we're gonna get out. 00:19:37 Speaker 2: On you on the three point line. We're gonna make you beat us. 00:19:40 Speaker 1: He did not say this, but I think he had an implication of I don't know if our guys can beat people off the dribble consistently. So he said, I told the team cuts, cuts, backdoor cuts, cuts, and that's what they did. Yeah, and they got a ton of action Max, a ton of pretty easy baskets or baskets that led to an open shot somewhere else through cut. 00:20:00 Speaker 5: We talked about it in the post game after cuncpt. Not enough off ball movement. It was just too much stand dribble, stand dribble. Maybe too much Williams at the top, but tonight there was. 00:20:08 Speaker 6: So much movement. 00:20:09 Speaker 5: There was probably three players that were kind of interesting. Obviously, Perry and Chandler didn't do a whole lot. They kind of got their opportunity. 00:20:16 Speaker 6: He didn't do much. One guy I thought that did really well that moved around a lot was Garrison. I thought Garrison played well. 00:20:21 Speaker 5: And on defense even as well, like he exposed a little bit early. 00:20:24 Speaker 6: They were kind of picking on him, but then. 00:20:26 Speaker 5: After that I thought Garrison was also He also hit three in three, Yeah, big stretch there. 00:20:33 Speaker 2: He did have a big stretch. 00:20:34 Speaker 8: He's so raw still like a Maris a little more a polished, but Garrison just comes there with so much energy. 00:20:39 Speaker 2: You know. We went on a thirteen to oh Run and Shannon. 00:20:42 Speaker 1: Unfortunately, I'm not one hundred percent sure what we did because that's when Andy Katz was talking to me. I assumed we were gonna lose. So I was talking to Andy Katz and he started talking to me. He really he's really into politics. He started talking to me about Andy Basheer, and he was like, can Andy Bheer be the President? 00:20:57 Speaker 2: And I'm talking to him and then I'm like, wait a minute, We're down five. 00:21:00 Speaker 1: So I can't say I totally know what happened during that period, but that was obviously a huge I heard. 00:21:05 Speaker 7: A little bit of the conversation going on, and I heard, you go, I gotta get back to this game again. I got down, they got out on like three points. You go, I gotta get back to this game. 00:21:12 Speaker 6: I really like it. 00:21:13 Speaker 1: I haven't seen anything like this, maybe since COVID Battles. I literally missed that stretch and I was like, Indy, it's a five point game. 00:21:20 Speaker 3: I gotta turn back around. We all watch watching you talk to him. We thought maybe they're making the comeback. You're like, okay, I gotta keep talking to him. 00:21:27 Speaker 2: Paying well, you should have just kept. 00:21:29 Speaker 6: Talking, talking to him, talking to him, he might have won by twenty. 00:21:32 Speaker 2: That's a good point. That is my fault. 00:21:33 Speaker 8: All right. 00:21:34 Speaker 1: So we're gonna take your calls. It is loud in here. So here's what I'm gonna ask you. If you call, it's gonna be hard pressed to hear. Please speak up. Don't ask me how I'm doing. Just assume it's great. 00:21:46 Speaker 9: We're doing great. 00:21:46 Speaker 1: We want as soon as I say your name, just go all right, here we. 00:21:51 Speaker 2: Go, Billy, who's up first? 00:21:52 Speaker 4: Jordan's Jordan? 00:21:54 Speaker 2: Go ahead, Jordan. 00:21:57 Speaker 11: Hey man, I just want to take that out to you guys. 00:21:59 Speaker 2: That's driving all the out there. 00:22:00 Speaker 12: Another shout out to standon. 00:22:01 Speaker 13: We got a bunch of Bullet East. 00:22:02 Speaker 9: Alumni here, all right, the charters. 00:22:05 Speaker 14: Great win from the cat. I think Mark Pope fruit that he's one of the best codes in the country. 00:22:11 Speaker 1: I think had two top five net wins this year already. 00:22:16 Speaker 12: It took a great win. 00:22:17 Speaker 13: Man, We're Philly great. 00:22:19 Speaker 1: It is a great win and two top five net wins. 00:22:22 Speaker 2: I do think that's huge. 00:22:23 Speaker 1: I mean this is I saw Matt Norlanders say on Twitter, this is a seed line victory, basically meaning you might get one seed line higher for winning this. This technically is a road is a neutral game, but they also treat it as like a neutral plus because they realize you're only a few miles from campus. So I actually, you will get more credit for this than you would a regular neutral game. 00:22:46 Speaker 8: Yeah, and not just our resume, which looks is huge four, but I was thinking about just our fan expectations before halftime. It's like, well, maybe we're not what we thought we were. Now you come back and win this one, and I'm walking with Mario and we're titled Yeah. But then I opened on Twitter, I saw the field of sixty eight was live, and John Fancas said something like big Blue Nation. Whatever you're drinking, drink it all because you are for real, like you are, You're everything. 00:23:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, you are. 00:23:12 Speaker 8: You are in the conversation. This is not a fluke. You beat Duke and Gonzaga. You've looked so good. He's saying, whatever you want to think, be crazy, go be crazy. 00:23:20 Speaker 1: Duke beat Auburn, Who I thought had been the best team in the country Shannon. Gonzaga beat Baylor by forty I don't know how did they lose to West Virginia. 00:23:29 Speaker 2: I have no I didn't watch that game, so I don't know. 00:23:31 Speaker 7: But yeah, you should be excited when you looked at the schedule when it first came out. The three games Duke and then the last two of that we just had we're gonna be the defining games to where you were like, okay, we know what we have. 00:23:43 Speaker 1: And we said, I said, I hope we go one and two. Well we went two and one and we beat the two best teams of the three. 00:23:51 Speaker 3: Duke and Gonzaga are two of the best teams in the country, flat out, no argument, and we just beat both of them. 00:23:57 Speaker 4: I think that says a lot. 00:23:58 Speaker 8: And tonight, you know it's rare. We Kentucky fans are out numbered. We were. 00:24:02 Speaker 2: We were. 00:24:02 Speaker 8: Yes, you're twenty eight from three, you're better than that. Yeah, but mom, Butler, unplay. Kirk Crusa goes down with an injury and you come back from down sixteen and a half time to be Gonzaga. I mean, Kentucky's for real. 00:24:13 Speaker 5: Just quickly, we gave a lot of shout outs to all the players, and then they deserve it. The first half one on one, you know, like we talked about with screens and that we got out play. The coach made some of great changes, Like yeah, mo Plage deserves so much credit. Like that is cold coaching, that's half time adjustments. That's cold, like being all of the study film like he says, gathering Donna, like all that stuff was absolutely unbel Like that's the stuff you want to see from you, coach, because we may not have the most talented team, but if we can out scheme guys, then. 00:24:40 Speaker 9: We can go. 00:24:41 Speaker 1: I totally agree, and one of these days we will have the most talented team. Like right now we don't have to. I don't We're not the most talented team, but one day we will have that. And then when you get that kind of coaching, let me read you Fran for Shila's tweets, this is kind of an amazing tweet from a national media member saying it, Yeah, you like you're you're kind of a who like Shade and he likes friend. This is friend for chill, Like I hated to see byu B why you lose Mark Pope? But we saw this outstanding coaching last year in the Big Twelve. Every Kentucky fan should send a thank you note to Andy Infield for leaving Arkansas. 00:25:18 Speaker 9: I like that, but that's kind of a shot, it is. 00:25:23 Speaker 1: Well yeah, I mean he's basically saying, thank Andy Infield or Indian for leaving USC open. 00:25:29 Speaker 2: So that Musclming goes, so that cow goes. Yeah. 00:25:32 Speaker 3: Sorry, I think that's what we should And if he want to do that and we can make that happen, I'm gladly sign him one. 00:25:38 Speaker 8: I'm trying right here, I'm really trying hard not to look backwards. But we don't win that game at all. 00:25:48 Speaker 2: Stop. 00:25:49 Speaker 1: We wouldn't even have been I mean it, well, we to be honest with you, let's be real. 00:25:55 Speaker 2: We saw that game last year at Rapperena. 00:25:57 Speaker 1: We were down seventeen at halftime and we lost what's twenty. 00:26:01 Speaker 6: This time we came back and. 00:26:02 Speaker 3: Won, and we praised Mark Hugh for ma last year. This year, Mark Pope makes the coaching adjustment togeinst you. 00:26:10 Speaker 1: So who's up next, Matthew Matthew, go ahead, Matthew. 00:26:17 Speaker 12: Hey, First of all, it's Patthew. 00:26:18 Speaker 9: It's like Matthew, but with a p. Secondly, I'm glad you guys made it out there safely. 00:26:23 Speaker 15: They travel back home to you Saturday. 00:26:26 Speaker 9: Got one question for you, and I'm gonna hang up and listen. 00:26:28 Speaker 2: Tell me who's in the house tonight. You can there, you go, Pathew? 00:26:33 Speaker 6: Never a path you never heard of a path you before? 00:26:36 Speaker 2: Oh? 00:26:37 Speaker 4: Never? 00:26:37 Speaker 2: They just keep giving Drew fireballs. Oh this is straight bourbon. I don't to be tell me eleven o'clock here. 00:26:44 Speaker 6: I don't want to be granted chicken fry right now. But Mark Hugh is really small. I didn't realize how small. 00:26:50 Speaker 4: He was a little guy, A little. 00:26:53 Speaker 2: Guy like I didn't. 00:26:54 Speaker 6: I thought I thought he was like seven. 00:26:57 Speaker 9: I was like, I couldn't tell. I mean, we were up in the rafters. 00:27:02 Speaker 2: That was the scariest press row of all. 00:27:05 Speaker 9: It felt like you were going to fall off the edge of the earth. 00:27:07 Speaker 2: I don't really you have verdigo. 00:27:09 Speaker 1: When we stood up for the national anthem, I didn't feel safe. 00:27:13 Speaker 4: Did you. It hit me with just walking on the corridor to our seat. 00:27:18 Speaker 7: If someone came up behind and gave you a good stuff pat on the back, you very well could have tumbled over. 00:27:23 Speaker 6: It was that was I don't. 00:27:26 Speaker 1: As a lawyer, former lawyer, I think they need to redesign that you're. 00:27:31 Speaker 7: Not an architect though, Well, they're asking for an injury there. 00:27:36 Speaker 2: I'm a little worried. 00:27:37 Speaker 8: When I was just reaching over my computer at one point to like plug in, I thought my hat was gonna fall off and land on the court. 00:27:43 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:27:43 Speaker 8: I've covered a lot of away games and they usually give me bad seats because I worked for KSR. That's the worst seat I've ever had ever. Yeah, I mean that was we were on the space. 00:27:51 Speaker 2: It was nice to be an historic climate place. 00:27:54 Speaker 7: Yeah, it was absolutely With their plastic straws, you look like. 00:27:58 Speaker 5: You're about to absil down the wall like you were that high up that was out there. 00:28:03 Speaker 9: Well, we had good seats for like, you know, a few minutes. 00:28:07 Speaker 8: Let's don't really tell if like a ball was gonna go in. It was just a different sight line. 00:28:11 Speaker 2: One of the Kentucky baskets. I didn't know what in. 00:28:14 Speaker 1: I thought I thought our bench was was screaming because they wanted a foul, and instead it had gone in and they were cheering. 00:28:21 Speaker 2: I couldn't tell from the angle we were in. Who's next? Snoop snoop, go ahead, snoop. 00:28:28 Speaker 11: Hey, Matt Jones, Robin Pool was out there that Broddy was moving in a pips on ether going to stirch with his mama. Man, he was smooth tonight man. They calm and elected and I guess John Zach and they didn't realize Mark Pope picked them boys up from which brother Wood Kentucky and old boys already play anything. I mean anything, Matt Jones, they just listen. 00:28:54 Speaker 6: Robinson and Andrew Carr Ryan. 00:28:56 Speaker 1: Were dudes down the stretch. They weren't nervous. They wanted the ball. You know, I felt like a couple of our guys look nervous. I love O way, but I felt like he didn't want to shoot. And the one shot he took was not close. You know, Amari Williams frustrates me sometimes, but he's not scared like he I mean, he's not scared. Listen, that little hook shoty hit was a big shot he hit after. 00:29:20 Speaker 2: I mean, you know, he's not scared. I worry a little bit, like like Kobe didn't want to shoot. But that lineup though, that five did really well. 00:29:30 Speaker 3: Down Gonzaga defensively really didn't trying to take o take it out, and they did. When Bread came in, boom, they had that number. Ninety nine is one of the best defenders we faced this really good, really good. He was gonna take him most of the game. So that's when we needed Jackson Robinson to step up and Andrew Carr and they did it, man, And that's what they're supposed to do. When you're the best Bread on the team, you got to step up in a big games. 00:29:51 Speaker 1: A good thing we didn't, yeah, missed because he missed him both, but he did actually get the ball like he tapped the ball away on the defensive play. 00:30:00 Speaker 9: Oh oh, I mean, you can't have any complaints right now. You got to win. 00:30:02 Speaker 7: It was a feel good win that come back, and you know, they very well could have laid down it and gotten beat by twenty five or thirty points. 00:30:08 Speaker 2: This week again, we could have lost that game. 00:30:12 Speaker 1: Yeah thirty Yeah, I mean, well, you know, I mean there's a world in which you quit and that's a thirty point. 00:30:18 Speaker 7: That's what they were and if I'm being honest, if I'm being honest, that's what I thought was going to happen. 00:30:22 Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, something a post that we had already lost at halftime. 00:30:28 Speaker 5: Now there's something too And I know, Matt, you think that I'm a nerd for this, but there's something to you love sports are cold, correct. 00:30:35 Speaker 6: There's something to. 00:30:36 Speaker 5: The way that popa Part approaches this kind of stuff, talks about positive things, only focuses on the things he wants that gives you that belief a halftime. I mean, that team doesn't even they've never even played really in Kentucky for that long, and they come out and they're like, we can still win this. Because if you don't believe that you're gonna get knocked out by thirty. 00:30:52 Speaker 2: It was a great you're exactly right, and they do have that belief. 00:30:55 Speaker 1: And it was important during the time that Andy Katz was talking to me about politics that they needed to go on that run at that point because then with twelve minutes left it was a five point game. They basically you know, got back in it during that. 00:31:07 Speaker 9: Straight Atz Cats Cats Cats. 00:31:10 Speaker 1: I honestly have no idea. I have no idea what happened. I like, and he just kept going, you don't think he can be president? And I'm like, I didn't say that. 00:31:18 Speaker 2: I was like Garrison for three what that I'm miss Garrison making me. 00:31:24 Speaker 8: I like how he has the job to do also, so he was, you know, you. 00:31:29 Speaker 6: Know how like he's just running and Andy report. It's sort of like when if you if you if you go somewhere and. 00:31:36 Speaker 1: You have one person that likes something, you like that no one else does, you know what I mean? 00:31:41 Speaker 2: So for instance, I don't know if I like you. 00:31:45 Speaker 5: When we went to the Australian restaurant, the guy could speak Australian to me. 00:31:48 Speaker 6: I'll get chats to it for a little while. 00:31:49 Speaker 1: Yes, that's exactly like it was, like, Hey, I think Andy was like, you're the only person in here that will want to talk about this, so I'm going to talk to you. But it just wasn't the exact moment. I wish he'd done it half time. He changed the todd though he. 00:32:00 Speaker 2: Did change the time. Now he did. 00:32:02 Speaker 1: All right, hey two eighth twenty two eighty seven, We're gonna take a break. We will come back. It's a Local Toy Dealers KSR. Her postgame show. 00:32:11 Speaker 6: Walking back. 00:32:12 Speaker 1: It is the Local Toy Dealers KSR postgame show. 00:32:16 Speaker 2: Where's Mario? 00:32:18 Speaker 1: I'm worried about our boy briend had tol him home there's a. 00:32:22 Speaker 8: Lot of generous fans in here. I had a test. 00:32:24 Speaker 1: He got a loud round of applause when he walked in. He got the biggest applause of anybody. 00:32:29 Speaker 4: When he walked in the whole crowd. 00:32:30 Speaker 5: Mario, Yo, he's raiding some Spanish directions back to the Amba and Bay right now. 00:32:37 Speaker 2: He's not even been to our BnB. Yeah, I hope it's there. 00:32:40 Speaker 1: We literally drove into town, went straight to the bar for the pregame into the arena. 00:32:45 Speaker 8: This reminds me of the l A trip because we drove straight to the game. There was no let's cut her down to eat. 00:32:51 Speaker 2: We left. 00:32:52 Speaker 7: We've already we've already spent more time in Seattle than we did in la We've. 00:32:56 Speaker 5: All dissaulted a little bit, honestly, and I'm really like, I just want to give more of a shout out. 00:33:01 Speaker 6: The Witch was maybe the biggest pivotal moment in. 00:33:05 Speaker 5: UK basketball history, honestly, Like we haven't. We've just keep jumping over it. You guys keep laughing. That was pivotal, Yes, I mean Mario there, Mario was even scared to walk into the building. I mean, you had Ryan getting soap rubbed on his head, laughing as if it was a joke. 00:33:21 Speaker 6: No, this stuff works. It works, and I suggest you go there. 00:33:24 Speaker 5: Whatever luck you need, go there, Get in the candle, get the sage, have a bath with your friends, have showers with your friends, do whatever you need to do. 00:33:34 Speaker 8: I take a bath from my friends right now. I'm so happy they'll take a bb in bath in here right now. 00:33:39 Speaker 1: This has been a long day, by the way, I mean our We woke up this morning in Oregon. Just on the record, we woke up this morning Pendleton, in eastern Organ. 00:33:49 Speaker 6: We weren't even in western Organ. We were in eastern Oregon. 00:33:51 Speaker 1: We drove through an ice storm that if it had been two degrees colder, would have been treacherous through those through those mountains. 00:34:01 Speaker 2: We got through it. We got to Seattle. 00:34:04 Speaker 1: I don't even really feel like I've been here because we've just parked and been walking around. 00:34:08 Speaker 2: It's been quite a debt. 00:34:09 Speaker 3: Pulled in, went straight to the bar for the pregame show, went straight to the arena for the game. 00:34:14 Speaker 4: Came straight to this bark at both shows. 00:34:17 Speaker 8: I saw Mario's post earlier where we met the family from Pineville. 00:34:20 Speaker 2: Yeah that was today. 00:34:22 Speaker 8: Yeah, No, so I saw this right before our show and actually got mad at myself. I'm like, man, you were the same outfit two days in a row, and I was. 00:34:29 Speaker 2: Like, wait a minute, no, that was that was today. We met the we I mean we ate in Yakima. Do you remember he? 00:34:34 Speaker 6: Do you all even remember where we ate? 00:34:36 Speaker 5: When we walked in the box ww something comment He was like, Cincinnati feels like two weeks ago, maybe three weeks ago. 00:34:44 Speaker 8: That Bengals Steelers game was two months ago. The Iowa trip going to shoot from Mchaelyn Clark shot that feels like three weeks ago. 00:34:51 Speaker 1: Listen, this has been in all seriousness, has been a great like it's been a lot of fun, but it's also been great with you all the engagement. I mean, we the Morning Show hit the top twenty nationally in podcast episodes, we've hit the top twenty in the show, but episodes during NFL season that'll happen sometimes in March madness, but during the NFL season that never happens. That just shows how many of you have followed and we really do appreciate it. 00:35:18 Speaker 6: I'll give you a little insight. 00:35:19 Speaker 5: I had to stay at the bar because Matt didn't want to buy me a ticket because I like Rahman. 00:35:23 Speaker 6: So I basically got left out. 00:35:25 Speaker 5: And I got banished from the I got banished from the group, decided to sit at the bar. But anyway, there was a lot of UK fans that came up to me and were asking me the typical questions, like what's it really like on the Triple that kind of stuff. I'll give a little teaser. There's gonna be a great story on Tuesday that's gonna be told by Shannon Matt through the guys that went to Pendleton Bar. 00:35:43 Speaker 6: Oh, it's gonna be unbelievable. So stay tuned for. 00:35:46 Speaker 1: That because that might be You should come in Tuesday. You can come in Tuesday for the app. 00:35:51 Speaker 5: I'm no, because I'm going back to Pendleton. 00:35:55 Speaker 9: We're just gonna drop you off there. 00:35:57 Speaker 2: You left your heart in Pendleton. All right, who's up next? 00:36:01 Speaker 8: Jordan? 00:36:02 Speaker 6: Go ahead? 00:36:02 Speaker 2: Jordan came. 00:36:05 Speaker 12: I so tonight. I had to get out of Matt right as quick as I could to get to the Sands Barn. 00:36:10 Speaker 1: He wore he wore a UK jersey test sat right he did. 00:36:15 Speaker 8: It was number nine. 00:36:16 Speaker 12: It said rife on the back. He held the show too. He held the show too long ago, so I got out of there as quick as I could. I showed up the Chassbarn Grille at halftime down sixteen. 00:36:29 Speaker 6: We didn't know who wanted. 00:36:30 Speaker 12: To play or not, but Kentucky started battling back, and I can say for your bar, it was the loudest crowd I've been through in that bar in a long time. With the cat fan, with the fun, with everything, the bar was wild tonight. 00:36:45 Speaker 2: That's awesome. I'm glad to hear it. 00:36:46 Speaker 1: I was hoping somebody would send me a video so people didn't. I was worried everybody would leave it halftime. They stayed through it. 00:36:53 Speaker 12: People nobody left it half Whenever I showed that, nobody left. Everybody rallied through it. Everybody had a great time the way. 00:37:02 Speaker 8: I would love posted on the cast bar. 00:37:04 Speaker 6: I would love to. 00:37:05 Speaker 1: See the video of the bar because I bet it was good, but I obviously was not there. 00:37:10 Speaker 12: Oh, the cats chants were a wild throughout the entire second half. I mean we immediately, I mean the second half was just run. 00:37:17 Speaker 9: We started. 00:37:17 Speaker 2: I mean we we just. 00:37:19 Speaker 12: Played so good, we looked so good. 00:37:20 Speaker 8: It was a great time. 00:37:22 Speaker 12: And then also, I have one thing for Max, my buddy Adam Banked with Max, my buddy Adam Banks when he wants me to tell you hello. And he also said that you need to come on his podcast again for our Marks Madness series. 00:37:36 Speaker 1: All right, well, well we'll talk about it, not at two thirty in the morning, and we'll figure it out. But thank you very much, and I appreciate cad. I just saw, hey, Martin County, how are we doing? How are you the one to call good to see you? I just saw a picture. It did look like if people were going nuts there right. 00:37:51 Speaker 8: I don't know who at the bar is posting our on the account, but I saw a video. 00:37:55 Speaker 1: It's supposed to be Mario, but he was here, so I would he even know? Well, whoever did thank you? 00:37:59 Speaker 9: Mar has an inturn. I think question. 00:38:02 Speaker 8: About excitement, and I'm trying to temper it not lose my mind. If we could make a layup, what would we want? 00:38:08 Speaker 2: My goodness would go in? Would how many? 00:38:11 Speaker 8: There are so many things Kentucky didn't do well and still won that game. It makes me think, well, if they do hit their threes. 00:38:17 Speaker 1: But to be fair, Gonzaga missed some open shots there in a second well that was our defense. 00:38:21 Speaker 2: Yeah, they missed it. 00:38:24 Speaker 9: They went really cold from three until the end. 00:38:26 Speaker 2: There they only shot that. 00:38:28 Speaker 1: I asked Mark in the post game, I said, if I told you you had scored ninety and you only hit seven threes, would you have believed it? He just wouldn't know, and he said, we've got to work on getting more open threes. 00:38:41 Speaker 3: We know that there were several possessions on the defensive end where Gonzaga got the offensive rebound like three times, God, and they kicked it back out for another open look offensive rebound, another open missed. 00:38:52 Speaker 1: All those that all of them on them. Who's up next, Mike, Mike, go ahead, Mike, Mike. 00:39:05 Speaker 9: Okay, now, Mike, we'll go to Chris. 00:39:08 Speaker 1: Chris by the way, we hit the KSR parlay plus a. 00:39:12 Speaker 2: P a. 00:39:15 Speaker 7: Another ks R plus first gone gone, our parlay hit plus thirteen. 00:39:20 Speaker 8: It's our biggest one. 00:39:21 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great way. I go ahead, Mike, Chris. 00:39:27 Speaker 14: Chris's Chris, Hey, guys, So how good is it to have coaching again? 00:39:35 Speaker 2: It is? It's awesome. You're exactly right. 00:39:38 Speaker 1: That is uh well, that is one of the coolest things is to know, like to know that you can have that deficit and we could come back, right. 00:39:48 Speaker 14: I mean some believed right number two second point bumps and beat us up a little bit, right, Like, I think we've tried to do that again. I think kams are trying to create a blueprint how to beat us. If you don't stop it now, it will go on all year, which we've seen year after year. So it's nice to see, Uh, she has put a stop to it. 00:40:08 Speaker 2: Right away, right, Like, totally agree with that. 00:40:11 Speaker 1: Appreciate the call we wil did physically in the first half. 00:40:14 Speaker 2: I mean from a from. 00:40:16 Speaker 1: A physicality standpoint, we did not meet Gonzaga's challenge. 00:40:21 Speaker 2: But then in the second half they turned that around. 00:40:23 Speaker 8: So I say it, we gotta figure out what's what's holding them back because the duke game minutes into it, I remember saying, shouldn't be on the same floor with these guys. This is gonna get ugly even tonight. I think some of us were ready to drive back to Lex before halftime. Met the guy that went to the bathroom. He never came back. I don't know what you can change. Maybe it's experienced, but they got to get off to better starts, so I know they could fix a bad start. But this is twice they've gone off getting so better. 00:40:47 Speaker 1: Yeah, I couldn't hear what you said. 00:40:51 Speaker 8: I was talking and couldn't even really tell what I was saying. 00:40:54 Speaker 2: And it's like when we ever we paused, I don't think people were on there. I think we're on the air. 00:40:58 Speaker 3: He couldn't tell Drew was talking my back to Yeah, so I'm sure I. 00:41:02 Speaker 8: Made a great point. I don't even know what I said. 00:41:06 Speaker 9: It's late. 00:41:08 Speaker 8: Slow starts. Fixed the slow start. 00:41:10 Speaker 5: The one thing that Butler being at actually kind of like cleared up maybe for us, And we're gonna keep learning more and more things about the team is is maybe and even the crease or injury maybe a little bit. Robinson comes in. You get Brad to play a little ball of minutes. He gets to spread the floor out. He might not be our best player, and he might. He's missed a lot in the last straight games. He spreads the floor out, gives us more chance of school. All of a sudden, cor gets a bit more space, he gets the playing space, and. 00:41:35 Speaker 6: Y and Kyle was awesome one online. 00:41:36 Speaker 8: Brean's defense, he's he's obviously a weakness. So when he makes a good play. He needs to be celebrated. Like the two games ago where he took a charge the play he made a great block and that was that was cleaner than hell, and he got called for So I hate it when he got was not good defensively, he makes a great player reward. 00:41:54 Speaker 7: We know that Bray is a good shooter. I don't know what's been going on the last couple of games. I mean, he had one that went off the side of the back and that's not characteristic. 00:42:02 Speaker 2: Second half. 00:42:03 Speaker 7: Yeah, that that is not him at all. So if we get him back on track, we're gonna be in good shape. 00:42:07 Speaker 1: All right, We're gonna take a break and we will come back for a final segment. 00:42:10 Speaker 2: Here kind of wrap up the night, wrap up our trip. 00:42:13 Speaker 1: We are not We are off on Monday because we're flying back. Monday will be Billy who you got in with you Monday it's. 00:42:20 Speaker 4: Me and Myron host. 00:42:21 Speaker 1: They say, Monday with Myron and Billy, and then we will be back on Tuesday. 00:42:28 Speaker 2: We will take a break and be right back. This is the Local Toy. 00:42:31 Speaker 1: Dealers KSR postgame Show, Welcome Back, final segment. 00:42:37 Speaker 2: He is the Local Toy Dealers KSR. Postgame show. 00:42:41 Speaker 1: By the way, in college football, just for the record, one of us played college football, the other four did not. Amongst the two of us, one person in the major conference games went oh and three. 00:42:53 Speaker 2: That would be the guy who won the Ray Guy Award. 00:42:56 Speaker 1: And one person went three and oh that would be the person me that you made fun of on the drive and acted like I would not know what an out route was. 00:43:04 Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean you take dabos when you sign and just telling Australians that they don't know what they're talking about. 00:43:09 Speaker 6: We don't want him on our team. I mean you and him are very very similar. 00:43:12 Speaker 5: You know, I love God, you know all those kinds of things you do. 00:43:16 Speaker 1: And also, yeah, we can't let these Australians take over our game. 00:43:20 Speaker 5: Dabo was just so cringey off the game. You guys missed it, but oh my god it was. It was hard to say and I'm so disappointed that he's made it. But it makes it even better now when they lose by fifty in the first. 00:43:30 Speaker 1: Round, Yeah, they will. They and they probably be interesting. They probably won't get a bite. They'll probably be the team that has to play. Yes, I think they will, even though they want to look at that guy's excited. 00:43:39 Speaker 2: This is a very happy fan base right now. 00:43:42 Speaker 7: Yeah, a lot of these people like us came from Kentucky out here to watch the game. 00:43:47 Speaker 9: And you win, you gotta celebrate. 00:43:49 Speaker 2: And also back home. 00:43:50 Speaker 1: It's two forty in the morning in Lexington, Kentucky, and our phone lines are full, and we probably it's too funny. 00:43:57 Speaker 6: Finny and it probably uh. 00:43:59 Speaker 5: We've shouted out the witch, We've shouted out mock punk, We've shouted out the guy that stayed. 00:44:07 Speaker 8: In the bathroom. 00:44:08 Speaker 5: We maybe didn't talk great about Danny who made the bad prediction. There's one person we actually need a ridicule above anyone else. Your pre game Johnny Rocker, underrated player is just a curse. 00:44:21 Speaker 4: I believe it might be. 00:44:23 Speaker 1: You're gonna have to do better with your Johnny Rocker. 00:44:26 Speaker 2: Don't know. 00:44:27 Speaker 6: I don't choose anyone, just choose you all the team. 00:44:28 Speaker 2: Now you know a lot of Rocks even this morning because I chose r. 00:44:33 Speaker 4: The clips of games up got hurt. 00:44:37 Speaker 2: If you picked him, We're not. It's gonna be really bad for him. 00:44:40 Speaker 7: So please, he's got canceled the endorsement to pick him again, So don't do that. 00:44:44 Speaker 2: All right, who's next, Heather, Heather, go ahead, Heather. 00:44:49 Speaker 16: Have you guys. I'm so excited that it's kind of given me a headache because just the excitement. First of all, I think that was a die gone bad crappy technical that they caught on Garrison, because we would have won in regulation had they not called that technical and Gon gonzagabate the free throws from it, so that was bad. And yeah, I didn't I. 00:45:22 Speaker 2: Stand that technical at all. 00:45:24 Speaker 1: And then the guy from Gonzaga did the same thing two plays later, like they gave him a technically. Again from where we are, we couldn't see, but apparently he just like yelled after it. 00:45:32 Speaker 7: They would have to be something verbal because there was nothing that you could see that would cause a technical thought. 00:45:38 Speaker 1: That they didn't even make an announcement, so like we were like, why are they shooting pun? 00:45:41 Speaker 8: The ref was out of position, like Garrison had his back to him. 00:45:45 Speaker 2: Shah, I have no idea on something that. I have no idea what he did. 00:45:48 Speaker 1: From where we were, we couldn't really see. 00:45:50 Speaker 16: You on the replay, it just showed him when he made it. He turned around just like all the other people when they make advice and they turned around and just celebrate, and you know, and there was a conveted guy right there, and even Jimmy Docks was saying like that was bad tall. But anyway, I think that it's gonna hurt cow like a hog bite when Hope when SEC Coach of the year, even the whole you know, NCAA Coach of the Year. And one more point was I think that they play with heart. They come out and they leave their hearts on the floor work, and that's that's. 00:46:40 Speaker 11: What wields them. 00:46:41 Speaker 16: And I'm so proud of them. 00:46:43 Speaker 2: Agree with all that. I appreciate the call. 00:46:45 Speaker 1: Let me give you when the game is over, a bunch of text messages coming. Let me give you some some some names of people that you may have heard of who had things to say. 00:46:54 Speaker 2: All right, do it. 00:46:55 Speaker 1: Andy Katz, First of all, I read into him again, well didn't ask me, He did not ask me this stuff about so when it was over, he did say to me, man, you guys are fun. 00:47:05 Speaker 2: I'm gonna be in New York in two weeks. This may be the most entertaining team to watch in Cosmos. 00:47:10 Speaker 1: Rob Dawsta from Field of sixty eight text this team is so much fun. I know you guys are loving this hell of a wind man. Pope is the best, all right. Terry Miners wrote an incredible comeback. Love watching Pope. That's a good one, right. And then finally Jimmy Dykes, who was calling the game, Yes, that performance was worth your drive. 00:47:32 Speaker 2: What an incredible game. Yeah. 00:47:34 Speaker 3: He said something to you before the game like, hey man, I've been following you guys trip all the way out here. 00:47:39 Speaker 4: Hope you guys had a good time. 00:47:40 Speaker 2: Jimmy Diykes was following our trip. Does that make you happy? 00:47:42 Speaker 9: It does. I'm a big fan of Jimmy. 00:47:43 Speaker 1: Dikes's probably wondering why we didn't take Jimmy's jim Jimmy. 00:47:48 Speaker 9: The words out of my mouth. O. 00:47:49 Speaker 2: We all had the same joke. 00:47:51 Speaker 7: We're gonna take We're gonna take it back tomorrow or whatever we go by, whatever day it is. 00:47:55 Speaker 9: I'm so confused on what day it is at this point. Yeah, it was gonna be jim. 00:47:58 Speaker 5: I got a text for Mandy. She is saying, tell Andy Katz to stop messaging me. 00:48:02 Speaker 2: I'll be fine. 00:48:03 Speaker 5: That's all right, We're doing the best we can. Just say thank you and listen. 00:48:08 Speaker 2: You can't be doing that. Who's up next, Luke? Luke? 00:48:11 Speaker 6: What's up? 00:48:12 Speaker 2: Luke? 00:48:14 Speaker 12: Ah, guys, I am so fired up. It is two forty two here on the East Coast. 00:48:20 Speaker 15: And I can't sleep because it was such a badass win from. 00:48:23 Speaker 12: A badass team with a badass coach. 00:48:26 Speaker 10: And I'm just this is it was amazing, absolutely incredible. 00:48:31 Speaker 12: Apparently I don't know if you guys mentioned or not. 00:48:33 Speaker 16: According to Quardy. 00:48:34 Speaker 12: Price, it was the biggest come from our. 00:48:37 Speaker 10: Biggest halftime deficit, come from behind victory in Kentucky basketball history. 00:48:42 Speaker 1: Ty neutral court, I think he meant on a neutral court, because I mean the LSU game that was right. 00:48:49 Speaker 2: I think he meant on a neutral court and he just left that out. 00:48:53 Speaker 12: Okay, okay, fair enough. 00:48:54 Speaker 10: But by the way, Jimmy Dykes was not criticizing that technical. He said, and I quote, because all all Brandon Garrison did was turnaround and say and one. Because you know, he got found and scored. Jimmy Dike said, and I quote, he got teed up because we got to get that foolishness out of college basketball. 00:49:12 Speaker 2: Screw you, Jimmy Dyke. 00:49:14 Speaker 12: You get out of here. You're a nice guy, and you care about and you care. 00:49:18 Speaker 10: About college basketball, but the boomer energy on. 00:49:21 Speaker 1: That is ridiculous. 00:49:23 Speaker 10: Regardless, Pope is dope, and we run college basketball. 00:49:27 Speaker 12: The rest of y'all just exists in it. And the only reason you get to play is we got to have somebody bast the kick. 00:49:33 Speaker 6: Go big blue baby. 00:49:34 Speaker 8: Wow. 00:49:35 Speaker 9: You can text that back to Jimmy Dikes. 00:49:38 Speaker 2: I was texting I like Jimmy Dykes. Jimmy Dikes. 00:49:41 Speaker 1: He's a good guy, but uh, there is he sometimes has a little boomer energy. 00:49:45 Speaker 2: I think that's fair to. 00:49:46 Speaker 9: Say he's a boomer. 00:49:48 Speaker 1: That is a that is a call, that is I will say this. People were complaining about Jimmy a lot. I don't know what he was doing during the game, but I was getting a lot of people very upset about you. I like Jimmy Dykes actuid that. What I like about with jim Dyke says our games is he knows our team. He knows Kentucky. So I hate when we get an announcer who doesn't know anything and then just says like, you know the same, like gibberish. 00:50:09 Speaker 5: I wish I could hear the commentary because unfortunately at the bar, I was sitting at at Oregon Penn State, and I was sitting right next to like twenty five Oregon fans, but there was enough Kentucky fans in there that they were clapping and cheering and all that kind of stuff. 00:50:21 Speaker 6: And Oregon had. 00:50:22 Speaker 5: At one stage a two yard run and the Kentucky fans went nuts because they hit a big three. And the Oregon guy goes, there's a two yard run? Why why do we care about that? 00:50:30 Speaker 6: Like, like, let's let's relax. It's like, no, dude, Kentucky, this is the Kentucky. 00:50:34 Speaker 8: I'm confused about this. There were people at the bar here that weren't at the game. I feel like, if you've made it this year, that's true. 00:50:40 Speaker 2: He's exception. Who would come all the way out go to a game. 00:50:46 Speaker 7: We drove you over two thousand miles to watch it on TV, which it could. 00:50:49 Speaker 6: Have everyone that loves Roman. 00:50:53 Speaker 10: And so. 00:50:56 Speaker 3: I got tell you when we walked into this place, Shannon, I walked in and there were like five people. Yeah, they were all watching the UFC fight. And I told him, I said, look, can we do our radio show. There's gonna be a lot of people come in. I don't think he understood how many people were really here? 00:51:09 Speaker 2: The way there's two bars? Who owe us a cut? 00:51:11 Speaker 1: I'm just saying the pregame in post game, at least people are at least being nice about it. 00:51:15 Speaker 8: You if you watch my rapid, you're actually I'm trying to talk to about the game with fans walking out and the whole video is just going, Where's Ryan. 00:51:22 Speaker 2: Where's the postgame? 00:51:23 Speaker 8: And I'm trying to get people on topic, and it's just like, what bar are we going to? 00:51:26 Speaker 2: Yeah? Who's up next? 00:51:29 Speaker 6: Janie Jamie? 00:51:31 Speaker 2: What's up? 00:51:33 Speaker 10: Hey? 00:51:34 Speaker 17: Just want to stay huh excited? I am as a lifelong saying and representing big Le Nation tonight, I just wanted to comment on when you guys were talking earlier about this excitement and just the feel of, you know, being excited about the Cats each year and what we have. 00:51:51 Speaker 16: To look forward to, you know, not that we aren't. 00:51:53 Speaker 17: Always excited, but just saying that I really can't. I'm really looking forward to this season in general and excited that we're always important to each and every game coming up. And want to make a comment about the players tonight, of course, Jackson Robinson and Andrew Carr. I thought we're clutched, and I think they said they were twelve to fourteen. The combined twenty eight points in the second half. I mean, how awesome is that? 00:52:21 Speaker 16: But did anyone. 00:52:22 Speaker 17: Notice that Jackson Robinson never makes a sweat? It seems like I think that that was a ready cool customer. 00:52:29 Speaker 1: You're exactly right, Jenny. I can't hear you. I'm sorry, I would listen, I can't. 00:52:34 Speaker 2: We can't hear you. But I did hear you say Jackson Robinson was a cool customer. 00:52:39 Speaker 1: So thank you very much. Jane appreciated. Field of sixty eight just tweeted out. Mark Pope has won more games Shenning in five weeks trailing by sixteen points at halftime than John cal Perry did in fifteen years. 00:52:52 Speaker 9: That is unbelievable. That's the down of the night right there. 00:52:55 Speaker 1: One and zero versus o and six. That feels like a little wild chief shot slip. 00:52:59 Speaker 9: Mean, look this, that's the stat he didn't make that off. I mean it is what it is. 00:53:03 Speaker 2: It's a cheap shot. 00:53:04 Speaker 1: It's a random thing to tweet out. Who Ever tweeted that out tweeted out at two twenty in. 00:53:09 Speaker 9: The morning, you gotta do a little digging for that here. 00:53:12 Speaker 8: You know he's wrong though. 00:53:14 Speaker 2: All right, two more, who's next? 00:53:16 Speaker 8: Aaron? 00:53:17 Speaker 9: Aaron? 00:53:17 Speaker 2: What's up? 00:53:19 Speaker 13: Matt? How you doing today? It's it's a good day for the Kentucky Wildcast. My guy, I'm not gonna lie. At the first time we hired folks, I was a little skeptical. 00:53:30 Speaker 2: Skeptical I am. 00:53:32 Speaker 13: No more, but uh much like the guy in the bathroom. At eleven twenty two pm today, I texted the group chat and I said I had to stop watching the game. I sat in front of my TV heading down, texting everybody that I knew about the game to keep me calm. 00:53:47 Speaker 9: So shout out to. 00:53:48 Speaker 13: Bacheler, Jared and Daniel, shout out to the Kentucky Wildcasts, and shout out to Mark both Man. 00:53:53 Speaker 1: There you go, appreciate win hell of a Let me also say I'm gonna give a shout out. 00:53:58 Speaker 6: She into each Barnhart. 00:54:00 Speaker 1: He made a higher that at the time was completely unpopular and it has ended up working out. 00:54:05 Speaker 2: You can shake your head, Max. 00:54:07 Speaker 6: I was gonna shake my head. 00:54:08 Speaker 2: Mitch, No he did. I mean sorry, he wasn't, but you can. 00:54:13 Speaker 1: But seriously, I mean that it took guts to make that higher and he defended it. 00:54:18 Speaker 2: You know, I've talked about that. 00:54:20 Speaker 1: I had a conversation with him in the morning before the show and he goes, Matt, this will be the. 00:54:24 Speaker 2: Right call, and I was like, all right, if you say so, well it was. 00:54:29 Speaker 7: There were a lot of big names, a lot of big names for the candidate for coach here, and you know, he kind of went outside the box with Mark Pope. You know, a guy who has never won an NCAA tournament game in his coaching career, and so far it's it's still early. 00:54:46 Speaker 9: So far it looks like a great hire. 00:54:47 Speaker 8: I have another Mitch take, and I've seen this before, but I walked by Mitch tonight. He gets so intense in games. People realize because you get you get like press conference Mitch and media mitge and he's just a nice, wholesome guy. You catch him mid game. 00:55:04 Speaker 2: Yell ref, he'll let af he'll let a ref know what, UH give him. 00:55:11 Speaker 8: Hearing some of that tonight, I mean, he's he's passionate and he's into it. Not that he shouldn't be, but I mean, I I saw a first answer. 00:55:17 Speaker 5: I've coped some Mitch feedback, not always positive. On the sideline sometimes when the team hasn't been. 00:55:21 Speaker 1: You and he you and he is to quote him about cow You don't trade Christmas cards. 00:55:27 Speaker 8: Either, but he did. 00:55:29 Speaker 6: He did. 00:55:30 Speaker 7: You don't even well, why would you have a relationship with Mitch Marhart. Don't you remember me asking about the checkerboards? 00:55:35 Speaker 13: Oh? 00:55:35 Speaker 2: He didn't like that. That was a long time ago. 00:55:37 Speaker 9: I mean, I'm just saying I did challenge him. You didn't like being challenge. 00:55:41 Speaker 2: Well, now you see why I don't Two more's next? 00:55:47 Speaker 6: I think it's one more? 00:55:49 Speaker 2: One more? 00:55:49 Speaker 4: Okay, Butler, Butler? 00:55:51 Speaker 2: Go ahead? Butler finished strong. 00:55:55 Speaker 15: Thy gifts and I will can you hear me? 00:55:58 Speaker 2: Got you? 00:56:00 Speaker 6: All right? All right? 00:56:01 Speaker 15: Let you first of all, shout out to Billy because when I told him my name was Butler, he says your first name Lamont, and I said, no, I wish. I mean, who wouldn't want to be on the Kentucky team? 00:56:11 Speaker 4: Right? 00:56:13 Speaker 15: But I have two serious questions for you, Matt. 00:56:16 Speaker 2: Okay. 00:56:17 Speaker 15: First of all, First of all. 00:56:21 Speaker 10: The. 00:56:25 Speaker 15: I'm sorry three points things that that pope did. Do you think he did that to get teams to force us on the outside of the week. 00:56:36 Speaker 6: And drive in? 00:56:37 Speaker 1: Now he wants he wants to this defensive teams are playing. I think you'd rather not see it. I mean, this is like that, this is how you play against Kentucky. But if they continue to be able to beat him with back door Kattson Jackson Robinson steps up, teams will not be able to play like this. I mean, you know, we only scored thirty four points in the first half. But it's also worth noting we scored fi fifty six in the second half in overtime, So if we play like we did in the second half, teams will not be able to play us the way they did in the first half. 00:57:10 Speaker 15: Right, But we were shooting like crazy in the first few games, and now we heard him say. 00:57:19 Speaker 1: Yeah, they're extending their defense out. I don't think it was a roper dope. I think you want Okay, he wants to shoot threes. Okay, I mean he you know, he wants to shoot threes. But teams, I think correctly said well, we're not gonna let you beat us like that. And I think Western actually was probably the team that gave the best blueprint, and then Clemson you and then Gonzaga utilized it. And now we kind of do the counter to their counter. 00:57:45 Speaker 15: Okay, my second question is it took me about thirty to forty Times Island before I got in. Do you think nowadays it's harder to get into a sports talk show like you're all and was back in the day. You say, you yourself, Well, yeah, I mean. 00:58:05 Speaker 1: Look, this is I mean, I'm not trying to pat our own backs here. 00:58:09 Speaker 2: But no, this is the most you know this. 00:58:13 Speaker 1: For a non official, a non official UK show, I mean the official UK shows. 00:58:18 Speaker 2: When k Wood hosted All that, it was a massive thing. 00:58:21 Speaker 1: But for a non official UK show, this is the biggest one. 00:58:25 Speaker 2: That's that's that's been. 00:58:26 Speaker 15: Around KSR, in my opinion is the biggest shows there is because I've been calling in since before. 00:58:34 Speaker 9: Who all, even it's. 00:58:37 Speaker 2: Hard, We're exactly right. 00:58:39 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's harder now, I appreciate, especially after a big win like this, it's harder. 00:58:43 Speaker 5: Hey get to get back to really quickly with the offense that he plays. 00:58:50 Speaker 2: Just answer that question. 00:58:51 Speaker 5: If you go watch Goldie State at their best when they were shooting every. 00:58:55 Speaker 6: Three possible, a lot of their. 00:58:57 Speaker 5: Points come from back to the cops they do. Aimon Green would be up the top just distioning backed doll calls Clay Thompson the amount of back door counts. He got a million wigging again and we bult more. 00:59:06 Speaker 8: We got more of them. That's exactly right. He was a play that we didn't get rewarded for. Amar Williams, I know he can be a little turn thrown. He made a nasty pass to a back door gun Jackson Robbinson missed the layout. 00:59:17 Speaker 2: But it was like. 00:59:18 Speaker 6: David Copper was a great pass. 00:59:19 Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean these are good passes, like Witchcraft. 00:59:22 Speaker 1: He's a good pres He should never dribble, but but he is a he's a good pass. 00:59:27 Speaker 8: Set on pregame, get him the ball, and I know pe were frustrated with him. As long as he's not dribbling, and he's good at the little handoffs when guys come around me, might hit those free throws tonight. 00:59:39 Speaker 6: He did hit those free throws. 00:59:40 Speaker 1: Those throws those all of us were because he missed car for what would have been a layup and then he. 00:59:45 Speaker 2: Got found and I was like, oh, and then he made the two free throws. 00:59:48 Speaker 1: Those were a big all right, So trip is over. First two things. First of all, you guys. 00:59:55 Speaker 2: Had a blast. 00:59:56 Speaker 1: We do these, We do this, Uh, once a year, sometimes twice the summer. But I thought this one was a lot of fun. I hope you guys had it fun too. 01:00:05 Speaker 4: It was a lot of fun. 01:00:06 Speaker 3: You know, we got to do some cool things, go to some place we've never been before, and the fact that them's on a great game, like there's a great win just makes it all worthwhile. 01:00:13 Speaker 4: So thank you, thanked all the people that tuned in and. 01:00:15 Speaker 8: Listen to having been the one that's done more of these than anyone with you. This was the most driving, but we maximized our our non driving opportunity. Yeah, it was fun the whole way. 01:00:26 Speaker 7: Chance, it was a lot of fun. Trying to remember, like what was my favorite part? Maybe asked me Tuesday when I have a chance to think.
