Yeah, it's the Internet. You're basically, let's do this. I'm Jeff Grubb. I ride over on Games Beat. This is grubs next where we talk about video games. Uh, it's interactive, sending your questions by hitting that ask a question button there at the top of the page. I'll get to those after this front news section. I've got my kids here. Hopefully I'm gonna put on the minions for him and we'll all be good. All right. Yeah, Uh, let's just let's get right into it because there's a lot to talk about. A few things I want to talk about. God War got announced that's coming to PC. And this is something that I think it's not very surprising to many people because this has been Sony strategy. Jim Ryan Is explicitly said like we are looking beyond PlayStation for homes for these games to get to, you know, grow their their sales based This is a game that has sold nearly twenty million copies after going on sales several times, of course, but but able to get to twenty million copies for sort of any console exclusive game that's not a Nintendo game, really that's really, really, really impressive. But you know, at a certain point they are going to saturate the possible market for God of War on PlayStation consoles, and they are looking for other ways to sell those games. And then also God of War Ragnarok coming up very soon. This is the one of the past they've taken to try to promote these games is by going this way, so saying, hey, let's get people re excited on a different platform. Maybe they will then want to come back and play these games on PlayStation five as as as we go for and release the game exclusively on PlayStation five at least for a certain amount of time, well, PlayStation four as well, and God of War Ragnarok's case. So I guess the question for me is like, what's next? And I you know, we do know that Spider Man two is coming eventually, uh, and you know, and so I'm hoping that Spider Man comes to PC. I think that would be very cool. Uh. That's one of those games where I think everybody involved would want it to come to PC. I don't think Marvel will be like, no, only keep it on PlayStation. That doesn't make any sense to me. And if in those games are expensive to make, maybe not as expensive as like God of War or the uncharted games. I think at Ssomniac is. I mean, they're great. I love Insomniac. I just think they also are very good at budgeting and and keeping things like within scope. They're good at They're basically good at everything they do. And so but even in that case, they're still expensive games to make, and and so you want to like make as much money back from them as possible. And then also on top of that, you are there is the licensing fees, like they while while Sony continues to have the license for Spider Man in film, they had to separately pay for it in a video game, and you know that does increase cost. So they probably were like, yeah, let's doing on PC. I hope. I think that's probably next. But you know that unless there's something weird in between. Like I think I've said before, I expect them to release Dreams on PC. Maybe something like that could sneak in there, but I think Spider Man does seem like with it. By the end of next year, I think Spider Man will be on PC. Okay, there's uh some news of a new splinter Cell game getting greenlit, and that does seem like that is happening. I heard a report. I heard that right before E three, Ubisoft was doing focus groups and testing with a bunch of games, and one of the games in there was something like a splinter cell that it played like a splinter cell, and a bunch of people that were in that group we're expecting the game to get announced, and it didn't get announced. It seems like it might be a little bit earlier than you know, getting announced. Maybe that'll happen next year, but you know, it was a small tutorial section of vertical Slice that people played through, and it had elements of hit Man like. It felt like kind of like similar to the most recent Hitman games at least mixed in with with traditional splinter cell gameplay. And to me, that all makes sense, Like, if you're gonna take that action stealth genre forward, Hitman is a good like, it's a good guiding post to say, let's go in that direction because that's working for those games. Maybe we can kind of like keep splinter sell fresh by doing that. And you can also see the pathway forward for Ubisoft really liking online service games. Hitman has been doing that since twenty sixteen. Ubisoft is probably like, hey, we could like layer a lot of Ubisoft bullshit on top of that idea and kind of take splinter Cell in that direction and that could work. That's not to say that that game that that was in testing is going to be the splinter Cell game that was just greenlet according to Video Game Chronicle, But I think chances are that that is the case, but I cannot confirm that one percent right now. To me, this is good news though. I'm like, yes, we should get a splinter Cell. That would make a lot of sense. I think that if they do, if they kind of go that Hitman route in one direction for the single player and then they have like a Spies Versus Marx mode and the multiplayer, I think splinter Cell would have a great chance of being this next big success for Ubisoft in terms of reinvigorating an old franchise and also doing some live service stuff that you we know, you Soft really loves. But then on top of that just kind of making those fans happy. Now, of course, that's a lot of what this is about is Ubisoft is looking for a win. There is a lot of They have a lot of stuff in the works that is that feels pretty sammy and isn't sort of getting people to people aren't like talking about Ubisoft games too much. They're buying them, they definitely are. But that dearth of conversation about those games is creating a vacuum where people can then come in and say, Hey, we're actually real upset about the way that you treat your employees, or that that you're treating treating women or people of color, or this toxic work environment, and Ubisoft wants to distract from that. Now. I don't think that distraction is going to work very well until they actually address those problems. But we'll see. We'll see if they do, if they are able to address those problems in a satisfactory way, and then stuff like spinders, spinner steals starts coming along. We get to a situation where people might start moving away along and away from that old that that conversation now that the old and very familiar and necessary conversation about Ubisoft's workplace, and now they just start talking about like, Okay, this is the future splinter of of Ubisoft now and we could all be happy. But that doesn't happen unless they get past this point and they and they actually satisfactorily start treating their plays better. Last week I and one of these was coming up to me and yelling at me at the end of the show last week. So I ended it up on a question about Undead Labs, and I was basically saying, state of the State of Daka three will still happen. There's more to it than that, and I was able to like look into it a little bit, So I guess to reiterate to like go over what happened. Jeff Strain, who was the leader of undead Labs and was overseeing State of DeKay three after seeing overseeing the first few games, left start a new studio. Austin Walkers like, forget that stuff, come work with me. And the guy's like, all right, Austin, I'll come work with you, and and they so State of Decay three. He has been sort of left behind by Jeff Strain, And so is that game, Like what's the state of that game? I would say that it is actually struggling without Jeff Strain, and and what's happening there is that Microsoft is really not sure about the scope or the vision without that leadership, and they're they're like not exactly sure who is going to step up and establish what the vision and scope should be the game was already pretty early when they announced it and having that, having that that vision was already an issue even with strained there, and now he's gone, it's a little it's a little bit more difficult now. All that said, uh, there are people at Undead Labs who are feeling defiant and are feeling like we can do this without Jeff Strain and are you know, a little bit resentful that that he left. People leave though, people need to go do their own thing. But they're like, hey, yeah, yeah he left, but we can do this. We're gonna be just fine. And that's people within Undead Labs. But in terms of like what Xbox Microsoft is looking at, they are looking at as like, Okay, there could be an issue here, kind of related to the Undead Laps thing. Xbox does have a lot of cool stuff in the works. Jess Cordon talked about some of these things, and I've heard a lot about a lot of the like codename games right now, so Xbox uses a lot of code names when they are early in development with games, and he talked about a few and I'm gonna talk about just a couple this week because there's some good information about about both. Let's let's start with shall Len, which is one of the codename games, and so I'm not sure what I don't think they know exactly what kind of game it's gonna be yet. If they do, it's early. But I think if you think about it for a second, and I've actually teased this before, if you think about it for a second and you like shell Len, that sounds familiar, who could that involve? Who could be there? Now? I'm like hesitant about saying this myself because when I first heard about this, I heard about it through I think, kind of the same grape vine that Jez heard, and so I'm not trying to under undercut him. But since then, I've I've been able to I've confirmed it myself with multiple other sources. But maybe we could just keep teasing it and I'll just say if you think about it, you'll you'll figure it out yourself. And then let's see Mainframe. Mainframe is one that he talked a little bit about. I'm a little a few more details that I can give you. So Mainframe is the cloud native massively multiplayer online game. It's got a working title, Pack's Day, pa X Space, d Ei who knows that will end up being the final title. But it's important to Xbox for for a couple of main reasons. The first one is is that people a Xbox really like the concept, and the concept is that it has really scalable game play. So because it's cloud native, you could play it on any screen. Right, That's like, okay, I'll really obvious idea. But then how do you take advantage of that. Well, one of the ideas is there will be gameplay you could do on your phone during the day that is really suited to a phone mining resources, farming, resources, crafting, you know, using menus and stuff, and then at night you get home, you get on your PC, you get on your Xbox with your friends, and then you do stuff that's really complicated requires you to be really focused, like rating or you know, performing like you know complex you know, combat or whatever things that you would want to be doing with a controller or mouse a keyboard. Oh you're sick, no kid, I'm sorry, go sit down. I'll be done in a little bit. Oh yeah, I'll take your tipature when we're done. Okay, okay, okay, I'm gonna put them right here. She's cute even when she's sick, and so yeah, so this idea that the gameplay is going through scale and so that when you're out, so you could be playing this game whenever you want, regardless of your like situation throughout the day and at night. So yeah, yeah, So like someone's asking cloud native, so it's streaming. I think that's the case. I think that's how it works. But I don't necessarily like it's called cloud native, so it's going to live in the cloud. I do think it's probably gonna be streaming. I wonder if there would be a way to download a client and play it off your system, if that's what you really want. But I do think like you are all going to be like on that same server anyhow, so streaming the video along with all the stuff that's happening on the server probably makes the most sense. We'll see, we'll see how they actually figure out those those problems. But that's that's the other side of this, is figuring out those problems. So one of the other main reasons that Xbox is excited about this is because of Hideo Coojima. They want to make sure that they fully understand all the problems that go into making a cloud native game, or at least the game that is taking a lot of advantage of the cloud, and so they want to build this game, get those problems like out of the way so that when they have to work with Cogima, and they have a spot a spotty history of working with Japanese developers, right you think about scale Bound, they want to make sure that when Cojima has a question about like how do we tackle this, they have not just an answer, they have experience. You know. This goes back to them hiring Kim Swift from Google Stadia to come in and specifically work with Cojima on his game once that deal gets done. And so this is all part of that strategy of making sure that they get that experience, they get that stuff out of the way, and they have a you know, the best sort of like here are the best practices that we can implement to make sure that when we get to a hurdle with Cojima, things don't start to fall apart. He could just focus on being Cogima, asked Cojima, and we could do the rest for him. And so yeah, it's kind of all like it's part of a wider strategy and it's and They definitely are excited about the idea of taking advantage of the cloud in creative ways, not just let's offload some graphical processing. It's not it's not about that anymore like it was on Xbox One for like day and a half. It's like, how can we do this to unlock new types of gameplay experiences. Pack's days going you know, the Mainframe is going to do that, and then the Kojima game is likely going to do that as well. That that process is just gonna start with Mainframe first. Okay, So I am. So there's a couple other games that at Microsoft's working on that I'll probably talk about at some point in the future. Belfry and Josh Sawyer's Subsidian game. Uh, I'm like still looking at that stuff. I'll have more for you soon, but for now, that's uh, that's kind of all I wanted to talk about. Let's get let's get to the questions. Let's do this. I see there's a bunch of questions here. I'm gonna start answering them. Let's check on this, kiddo real quick. All right. From Slaine mcawesome. What underrated video video game IP would make for a good movie. Let's see hubert Uh. I want to say, excite by excite bike, you can make a really cool extreme sports ninety style movie. Yeah, I would. Yeah, totally. We with like a a cool kid or a cool guy that's a bully and a guy that's like, I just want to ride bikes finally and he gets bullied all the time and then they go down the hill or whatever. Yeah, give me, give me some excite bike movie or excite bugs. What was the only one? The other one excite Bots. Yeah, there you go from mister platitude. Chances Capcom does anything with Mega Man anytime soon, so anything is a strong word. They're gonna do something with Mega Man here pretty soon. We kind of know that because of the week. But what is that gonna be, like a full Mega Man game or is it gonna be some mobile thing. We don't know that for sure. But Mega Man is in the weird spot where it's never really been a huge success. It's been kind of CAPCOMs. It's been CAPCOMs, you know, mascot and they definitely love Mega and at Capcom. But when they started like shifting away from Capcom and started focusing instead on the games that do sell. That's when they started heading having their really big successes. So you could see sort of like they were already training away from Mega Man. Maybe they'll continue to training away from MegaMan. MegaMan eleven didn't sell very well, is what one of the problems I think I've told this story before. Mike Manatti was Mike Manati is my co worker over at Games. Mean, he's a huge MegaMan fan, and he was at a party and he met the CEO of of of Capcom or someone very important at Capcom, and he's just like, man, just tell me it's gonna be another MegaMan game. And the guy basically was like a MegaMan eleven and then he just walked away. So my understanding is like they're just not they're not sure about investing a lot in MegaMan. But we you know, maybe the stuff like Metroid dread to kind of convince this companies, Hey, these two D games can maybe come back and and do really well even at sixty dollars. I don't know that it would just take a really good Mega Man game to do that, but Mega Man eleven was good. From Future Creep. I want to get if I want to get into games journalism, should I change my name to Jeff. I mean, it can't hurt at this point. It's not It's sure. It certainly doesn't seem like an impediment to anybody, right. It only seems like if you look at the data, If you look at the data, seems like you name yourself Jeff, You're just gonna sort of find yourself working in this field eventually. So uh, yeah, definitely I would do. That would be the first thing I would do. From Ryhy, thanks for doing grubsnext for us game, your gamer children, and being a great dead to your real children. Yeah, no problem, Absolutely, I appreciate it. Uh, they're they're just they just need a little bit of attention today, but they're being good now. From El Drain, is Scorn still going to release this year? I asked a round about this, and I got some people asking in my dms on Twitter about this one. I haven't heard anything. I'm I was. I thought I had heard it did get delayed to twenty twenty two. I would say it's probably gonna get delayed into twenty twenty two if it hasn't been yet, But I don't know for sure. I did look around and I wasn't able to find a definitive answer. U from psychis, do you think Retro studios other rumored games are canceled now that they are officially working on Metroid Prime four? I think so yeah, or at least put you know, shelved. What is canceled anymore? Here? Do you need tissue? So? Yeah? What is canceled mean? In video games, it's they could always pick stuff up again that they put on they. I mean, that's what happened I Metroid Dread, right, Metroid Dread is something we heard about years and years and years ago, and and then finally they come out and they actually make it. Someone makes a Metroid Dread. Now it was a different studio of course than was originally going to make Metroid Dread. But I mean no ideas ever. Fully dead things morphed into other things. They take assets that they were working on for one game, they turn it into something else. H That's what happened with Overwatch and things like that. So like Overwatch was going to be that Titan MMO from Blizzard, they took those assets, turned it in overwell, and so Titan was canceled, but all of that work got turned into something else. So I don't know I would say that that, uh yeah, while the other stuff is on the shelf right now, maybe not forever, but if metro Prime four becomes a big thing, they'll probably be working on metro Prime for quite some time. I would imagine from Lunar Jennings, I'm spending the weekend at a music fest vaxed and masked. Baby, Okay, yeah, you're living that best life. What's the worst concert you've seen? Now? See are you vaxed, masked and waxed? Because that important? That last one is very important. Get back to me on that one, Lunar Jennings, what's the worst concert you've seen? I don't have a great memory for my for the concerts I've been to for you know, various reasons. Uh Like, honestly, there's there's things I remember by going to concerts, and I'm like, I remember everything except for who played. I I'm trying to think. I don't know. My first concert was Garth Brooks, but that was good. I liked Garth Brooks. That was fun. I'm trying to think what my last concert was. Maybe I can't remember. I can't even know. I say, I can't even remember, oh, Arcade Fire. Maybe I guess I'll someone after them. I don't know. I went to a bunch of OZ fests, so I'm sure I saw some bands that were like, you know, lower on the bill that we're kind of disappointing or whatever. You know, maybe maybe stained after their prime or something like that. From Afterlife, Josh, what year do you think we'll get the last Call of Duty on last gen consoles PS four and Xbox one? So I talked, So this came up on one on one podcast I was on, and we were trying to figure out like when the like the last one happened on Xbox three sixty and pleete PS three it was like a few years so, and we know it's crossed you in this year. I think it's gonna be Qroustion next year, and that'll be the last one. I think that's probably what it is. I'll definitely be cross gin still next year. And that's I mean next year, it'll still like financially, it'll still make a lot of sense. There will still be a lot of PS four's and Xbox ones. They are already so they're probably still already on that, like in terms of momentum, like working in that in that way, where like the cross gens still just makes sense and called duty doesn't need to It doesn't need to take super advantage of like next gen features to succeed. Obviously, it just needs to be called duty. Where can I get a cool shirt like that? You know, let's let's show it off. It just came in the mail yesterday. I actually did find this one on Amazon, so I you know, in terms of like getting like, here's the thing. I got a couple of sweaters like this. I have one actually just says game Boy color on it. I really like that one. But I got it from a website called red Bubble, and that's like they just print it off like stuff that you know, copyright pirates are putting up and selling that they don't own. And hey, whatever, I want the sweater. I want this. I didn't do anything wrong. I'm just buying it. Maybe maybe they're gonna something wrong there, but whatever, I don't care. I'm still buying it. The thing is is that they're just printing it on these sweaters, and I think that they're using the same process that they would use for like T shirts or whatever. I think the process is made for T shirts. So I've washed those sweaters like a couple of times, and they're already really starting to crack and fade, And so I should probably go get the official stuff when I need these things. If I'm like feeling that midlife crisis of like needing to wear a shirt that was my childhood, I'll probably just pay a little bit extra money and go get the official ones. Now for some things, like I got a virtual boy hoodie, and Nintendo's not selling virtual boy hoodies it turns out, so I'll still find my way to get those, and I'll just have to like treat them a little bit more gingerly or something. I guess I can go get my my, my embarrassing video game clothing dry cleaned. I could do that, right, That seems like the right, you know, almost forty That seems like what I should be doing with my video game clothing is dry cleaning them from Kane I Win zero nine. Why can't Metroid crawl? Look, don't ask me that, because it's gonna make me want to spoil Metroid dread. So yeah, uh yeah, well I'm biting my tongue. But that's uh, you know, there are there are reasons why that question is very fun now from doctor Uncle, do you have any insight on the PS five rest mode issue? I got mine in July and has failed to boot up from rest mode twice. Now I'm terrified to use rest mode at all. To Sony have any plans to fix slash acknowledge this problem? When? When did it? When did they have issues? Like? When was the when was the problem? Was? Did that happen recently? Because I would say that that most recent update I would think might address this. So maybe try to rest mode again if after the most recent update, see if there was a any improvements there, and if it stole is a problem, I would contact Sony and and get a replacement PS five because they'll do that. I think, you know, the issue could just be hardware at that point, and I think a lot of people who've had that issue got their PS fives replaced. So yeah, I would. I would. Yeah, I would call up Sony and and get on the phone with them and say, hey, this is what's happening to me. What should I do? And then you know, to take advantage of that warranty before it runs out from Windmills. Dear mister Snacks, what's for lunch? I haven't thought about it too much. I've been kind of, you know, busy taking care of the youngs. But I don't know, maybe maybe like a pizza today, Maybe pizza would be good, or I'm you know, I'll probably order some some grub Hub, some me Hub and get I don't know, maybe sandwiches, maybe pop Belly. I got probably belly a couple of times. I always say swarm on here, but I'm always in the mood for swarmers for some reason. When I'm doing doing this show. Well, we'll see, I'll I'll tweet it. I'll tweet whatever I end up getting for lunch. They'll probably used to be the hot dogs standing up over the sink well after I get done feeding them from default. This just wondering if you could shed some light on how well the Xbox series S is doing. Picked one up a few months back, and it seems like such a bargain. Surprised it's not being pushed more given you could find it in stores easy and easily enough, at least in the UK. I think that the that system is just going to sort of sell itself slowly over time, where the people who show up, like, how do you reach the people that are like, oh, I want to get a next gen console, but I, you know, I want to save a little bit of money, and I don't care too much about stuff, and I still have a ten ADP. Like people who don't care enough to like be getting the high end stuff are probably not paying too much attention. Yet they probably hear like it's really hard to get into stuff. I mean, this holiday season, I would expect them to start a little bit more like right now, I would expect them to start talking about the Xbox series as a little bit more. But it's gonna be the kind of thing that next holiday they're gonna really be positioning as like the bargain option and stuff once like people are like, oh the Xbox serious, like the Xbox One and the PlayStation four have stopped getting a lot of games. A lot of games will stop showing up on the system. I need to upgrade. What are my options? I think at that point, when CrossGen sort of slowly fades away, this three hundred dollars option that still plays all the new games and has key features like SSD, that's gonna be the kind of thing where Okay, now now it's our time to strike. Now now's our time to message this to people who are looking for this specific Assassin's Creed game or whatever and they want a way to play that, Well, here Xbox series is available to you right now. It's just a little bit hard to message that because people who want to play those games are probably already playing them on Xbox One or play PlayStation four, and it's gonna take time for them to click over and feel like they're being left out. All right, from Big Denham, I take it the Gunk is not coming in December twenty twenty one at this point. They now they announced that date recently though, right, so I think it's probably is still coming. Why do you say that something else happened. I just think that because they announced the Gunk release date, says here, says here twenty nineteen. Well that's not right. Yeah, yeah, in August they announced the date, So that's just that was just a couple of months ago. I don't know, maybe something else has happened, but I would say that's probably still gonna come out here pretty soon. Lutugens also says, uh no, not waxed, just vaxed and masked, and then a sad face and yeah, I'm sad too, sad for you from Final Daska. Any validity to the Killer Instinct rumors floating around If Xbox is making a new which studio would be developing it? Blink six times to deny the rumor, seven times to confirm everything to be true. The one I've talked about Killer Instinct before, and the one thing I know is that Microsoft wants to do it. They're interested, They've asked around the studios who have said they're busy, and and you know, and I don't know what studios they were, but I would imagine one of them was probably hiring Galaxy because they do seem very busy, and I don't think they're doing it, and that's probably That's probably the hurdle here is finding the studio that can actually handle this, So who would develop it? I don't know, that's tough. At a certain point, maybe you just have to spin up a new team and say, hey, who like anyone who works at are one of our fifty studios want to make a fighting game. There's probably some people that want to make a fighting game, and maybe feel some of them them off and start hiring. I know that's tough, but I mean for Killer Instinct. I think you could probably do that with like a pretty small core team and then hiring specifically support studios. There's like sports studios popping up in Mexico and everywhere else, Like maybe do it that way from Alan McKinnon, favorite drunk slash stone game or favorite game to chill out to, anything that's very mechanically intense, Like you know, I go to like ten eighty snowboarding and or excite bike or wave race. But I could play those anytime. But we used to before we had kids, and we used to think called Colorado Nights, and it was like Friday night after the week, we'd you know, go get the edibles from the store or whatever because it's Colorado and I'm trying to get like I really I got Super into earth Bound one one of those nights. I still never beat it because then I had kids and stopped having Colorado Nights so frequently. But that was like one where I'm like, yeah, I could totally just see myself like chilling out to that game. But then I'm like super Mario Brothers. One time we were I was hanging out with my friends and actually my my girlfriend at the time, and so and it was like early in our relationships, so I was still trying to impress her, and I thought playing Mario was Super Mario brother really well would be very impressive. Again, I'm an embarrassment, but yeah, we get to a point where like everyone was kept failing on World eight and I was. I was just I got into the zone after being stoned, and I was able to get around and do those really tough jumps and like jump over the hammer the Hammer Bros At just the right time repeatedly while running really fast, and it was impressive to me. No one else cared, but I was like, man, I'm playing really well. So Super Mario Brothers is my aunts here. There you go. Oh, people are calling the cops on me. One of those nights, on a Colorado night, I was streaming and there might still be video this somewhere. I was streaming and I it's late but not super late. But then I hear I don't even fist on my door, and it's like, hey, Hyland's Ranch police. I'm like, am I being squatted right now? I'm like, hey, I might be. I'm like talking the cops being paranoid. I might be being watted right now. Can we just like and open the door. And they were like, oh, we're just looking for someone who used to live here because I was renting the place. So that was that was intense. I told my wife to go upstairs and hide video games man. All right? So does Metrid Dread street cred have samus at the top of everyone's head? For years? Fans have pleaded, and now there's more Metroid ahead? Will Dread stay ahead in sales and put that series is dead? Talk to bed. I think that there's a good chance that this is a defining moment for the Metroid series in terms of how can we take the series going forward and sure it remains relevant. I think you have Mercury Steam make a couple more just like this one, and and and you could release them every two to three years and that be that. And and I think that by the third one that you know, the formula is gonna start feeling stale again, and people are it's gonna have to change. But I think those games, each of those would sell pretty well. And I do think that this one, it's gonna start with this one going over three million copies sold easily. At this point, it's you know, it's setting records in Japan, which is the territory it never sold in before. And I always, I always had a hunch that this would be the one to break out in Japan because the people who are playing Switch in Japan are people who are very, very into everything Nintendo at this point, because if you are just a gamer, you're probably playing on mobile in Japan. But there's been a swelling of console sales and especially of course Switch in Japan, and I'm just not surprised to find out that Metroid Dread is doing very well there. And so if Metroid Dread is selling in Japan, we know it's going to sell here at least pretty well. And if it sells in well in a few other territories, yeah, more than three more than three million copies sold, probably gonna get in four or five million range, I hope, I think. And then yeah, Metroid Prime four that comes out in a couple of years, and people are going to be even more primed for that because of Metroid Dread and because it's a three D game and we know right now that three D is as a much better like sales potential than two D at this point. That flipped a couple of years ago. I remember, you know, New Super Mario Brothers always used to out sell Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii. Right, Well that's flipped now, and if they were releasing new two D Mario, it probably would not sell as well as Odyssey has. So Metro Prime four is gonna come along and have even more potential to sell. And if that game is good, which it really could be, uh, then yeah, I think the I think this. I think Metrod moves up into the same echelon as stuff like, uh you Fire Emblem, right where fire Moom is never going to go away at this point, right, it's not Advanced Wars Advance Wars. We're lucky that we're getting a new one. But you know, with Fire Emblem, it's just going to be a game that continues to come out regularly for every Nintendo system, maybe a couple per system from here on out, Metroid could finally move up into that place where there's never gonna be a nintinto sixty four generation again, where we just didn't get a Metrod game. All right, how are we doing? Don't touch the mic, don't touch the bike. What do you think you're doing? From Eric Stifford zero five. Can you give any insight into the into Discord coming to consoles? Discourse? Xbox already has a partnership with Discord and was rumored to be coming a while back, and now Sony has an investment in them as well. Do you know the nature of what's planned planned for them? So the PlayStation Discord implementations should be pretty robust, and I imagine it's gonna be like almost just like a Discord app that just hooks into everything on the PlayStation, and so it's gonna be like, it's gonna feel fully fledged. Now Xbox, like you said, already has the Discord Now, I don't know partnership, is that what it is? They have Discord stuff in here. You gotta stop singing in the mic. Xbox already has that Discord integration. So are they in a position where they could easily replicate those features if everyone is cool with that? And I think everybody would be cool with that. Sony has an investment, but Discord already has Sony's money. Sony doesn't get to like say much. I don't think Sony got a position on the Discord board, trying to remember if that's but even they did like the board can't be like, don't make more money, don't expand your user base. That would be that would not be something that would be supported by the rest of the company and the rest of the board or whatever. That just wouldn't be how that works. The executive, the chief executive officer, gets to make those decisions. And if Xbox says, hey, we want to expand our relationship with Discord on Xbox and build it in and hook it into Xbox Live Gold or whatever, all that stuff would be something that the companies would be able to make happen, and I would expect them to want to replicate those features if Sony does a good job of implementing it into PS five, which I expect them to do. Let's see here from Infinite Skeptic Jeff, what's up with the future of Devil May Cry? I need melodrama and demon slain. Love the show, Thank you. I think that the future should be continue to be bright. Don't do that. The future should be bright for it where we should get a new one regularly from here on now. The last one sold pretty well. They know how to make those games, they like making those games, and they know that there's a fan base that if they keep delivering, that same quality will always show up for it. And you know, maybe there's there's time where they take some time off so that team can work on some other stuff. I think that might be. That's probably what's happening right now. But they'll get back around. The devil may cry. They absolutely will. From mighty war canoe and a fight to the Jeff, would you rather fight one horse sized Bacholar or ten duck sized Gersmans? This is truly a horrifying proposition. Horse sized Bachelar is just I mean, okay, what does it mean? Like? Is he gonna be elongated like a horse because it's horse size? I guess if you wave as much as a horse that would be very bad. I would not want that. So I would take on ten duck sized GIRs and I still imagine that this will be my demise. I will perish, but I will do so with a little bit less fear in my heart than if there was a horse size to Baccalar, who just smush me? And I don't want that? Uh from Bane fire Lord. In the wake of Farcrist six getting a tepid response, I remember I remember a rumor from Shreier saying the next far card game is going to be a big departure for the series. Any truth to this, and if so, what does the departure look like. I think that that they might be looking at kind of what they're doing with Assassin's Creed, where Assassin's Creed is going to go much more service based and they're going to sort of roll content into this one existing you know, client or whatever going forward. FARKRYD could do something similar, like you take a lot of what's been in farcryst so far and you make all that available in one game and add a lot more multiplayer stuff. I think they might be looking to do that with all their all their stuff, but I don't know. It's good to depend on how well FARCRYT six sells. We'll see, we'll see next month how well it's sold. Farcry five sold very well, but Farkry five was also also got a tepid response right where you know, it was a solid game mechanically, but there was definitely a lot of people who didn't like the setting, people who were like disappointed, like this is not as good as some of the earlier Farcry ones. So maybe is Farkry six paying the price for far Cry five. That's possible. And if that's the case, that's usually when you be soft decides today, let's take a year off. Are you sinking baby shark? Okay, well, don't do that. You're gonna guess dm DMCA, you gotta watch out there. That's usually when you be soft decides to make the move of Okay, let's take a year off, let's rework with this is gonna be and you know, maybe they add more RPG elements. Maybe that's their way of going, but I don't know for sure. I just I also wouldn't be surprised if far Cry we're gonna get a Farkry spin off from six. They always do that. They'll still do this, little, still do that. Then even after that, I wouldn't be surprised if far Christ seven is just more of the same from mister Popo. Does console shortages have to do with Sony Triple A's coming to PC? PC parts are hard to come by, but maybe they're trying to spread out more for that extra cash. No, No, the consoles were always going to be in short supply. Consoles are usually in short supply early in the generation. And while things are definitely more extreme because the demand is higher, they are selling as many PS fives as they sold PS four and they weren't doing this then, well, the difference is that games are more expensive to make, and Sony is very good at making the most expensive games. And by that, I mean, like the thing that Sony has been focusing on and the things that their fans ask them to focus on, are make this certain kind of game. And it turns out that certain kind of game is a two hundred million dollar proposal, if not more at this point. And so that's a lot of risks, a lot of risk where even one one of those backfires things, it's just it's not a good it's not a good thing for the company, and it feels like they're afraid of that risk. And so in order to mitigate that risk, they have to sell as much up each one of these successful games as they possibly can, and so that means putting them on PC and getting a bigger return on that investment. And it's worked so far, and of course it would these are popular games they're going to sell when they come to PC. But I mean, Jim Ryan has said this explicitly in that interview. You know, we want to go from selling ten million copies to one hundred million copies, and we can't do that on PlayStation. What does that mean going forward? I don't know. I don't know if they know exactly what. I think they have an idea, and I think it's like ECM Mobile definitely is involved in that, but that's not gonna They're not gonna get to one hundred million copies sold of God Whoor Ragnarok through that method. That's just not gonna happen. Like, you know, Nintendo sells thirty million copies, thirty five million copies of of Mario Kart eight Deluxe out they like, So Sony would be lucky if you've got even one game to do that, even if it was spread across both console and PC. That's it's just a whole other realm that Sony is soul, Like Sony games are. They appeal to a really hardcore audience. But that hardcore audience is going to have its limits. And that's why you see Sony looking at stuff like, you know, not just putting games on PC, but a lot of talk about, hey, we're gonna try to get into multiplayer service games, right, now we're gonna try to get into uh yeah, we're gonna try to make more more shooters, more stuff like in house, first party that are going to be live service stuff. That's them saying, hey, we want to spread out our bets in other ways as well, not just put stuff on PC. So but yeah, this is this is just about games getting expensive, you entertaining yourself. You gone from Fridgewater, which is a good name. My grandpa used to keep a picture of fridge. Keep keep a picture of water and the fridge, and it had a distinct fridge taste like Fridgewater, and uh, I didn't hate it, but it also was different than just like maybe it was like a water out of his tap was also different. So because I'd go to his house and that was that. But that's been a sense memory I've had my entire life at this point, from Fridgewater, from my grandpa's Fridgewater. Hey, Jeff love the show. Why is Jackbox so reluctant to make a unified UI slash launcher pick any game from any pack from one screen. It seems like a no brainer. I think that they are bound but sort of by momentum and what is working and being afraid of messing what's worked with what's working. They know that they make a Jackbox Party Pack nine, it's going to sell a certain amount, so they can budget it out to this certain degree, and if it's worked so far, why would they mess with that. I think it's a big part of just they are bound by this momentum of we have, you know, our expenses, of our x our potential profit is why, so let's just do that. Let's stick to what works. And so that's what they're gonna do, all right, Hang on, this kid's being a maniac. Let me put her down from so scary. Hey, Jeff, I think Phil is gonna buy Bungee if which Queen only does okay in sales? What do you think? I don't know they've had I remember, like I said once that they that someone inquired from Xbox about like what the price of Bungee would be, And then Eurogamer had a story right at the same time saying that discussions were happening, and then the chief exact the owner of Bungee or the chief executive officers like these guys don't know what the fuck they're talking about. That didn't happen, and I'm like me and Eurogamer didn't talk about this story beforehand. We didn't and we didn't make this stuff up. Someone was talking about the prices, and it doesn't necessarily mean that even like the CEO of Bungee was like having the conversations. I just meant that someone of Microsoft asked about a price. That's it. And that's something that happens all the time people at these company's, people at these companies whose job it is to think about acquiring people all the time. This is something Gerstman says on BombCast all the time, that everyone's thinking about acquiring everyone else at at every moment of every day. And so it wouldn't be surprised if in the back of Phil Spencer's had a big Destiny fan, he's thinking like, Hey, why maybe getting money back onboard would be cool, Maybe I should look into what that costs. Does that turn in turn into anything real? I don't know. I doubt it. I have my doubts, but you know, we'll see. I bet I bet that the that discussion, whether it's just happening internally at Microsoft or whatever, probably continues at some point this year where they're just like, nah, maybe I don't know if that's I just don't think that turns in anything real. I think Bungee wants to be Bungee and they have an investment from who is it Nettie's next son? I can't even remember which one is which. Uh, there's a couple others that could be, and they probably gonna want to see that through first before they begin again looking at any potential acquisitions. Again, We'll see And that's like twenty twenty five right from Future Creep. Should Nintendo just make a switch emulator for PC? So? I remember there was a there was a story I think MVG on YouTube did a video about this about a I think it was it was an N sixty four emulator or something like that or something something like that where and it was reportedly made internally at Nintendo and they were thinking about selling it and stuff. Now there's evidence that that wasn't ever real and someone just lied and positioned it as like an internal Nintendo emulator. I would say Nintendo's never gonna do that, not at least not at least not current to No, not in the way it is right now. They just they have their way of doing things and they and it's not like necessarily like Sony, where Sony has the biggest budget games in the world and they're selling to a big audience, but that audience he shows up in about ten verse ten percent of that audience shows up for any one of those games, ten to twenty percent, you know, Right, there's one hundred and twenty million p ps fours, right, and God of War after several sales, gets to twenty million. That's fantastic. That's the really good sales. That is not in any way a negative for those games. But in Nintendo's case, it has very modestly budget games, budgeted games in terms of how much they cost to make. It is selling to about eighty million, ninety million people, and in the best case scenario, a third of those people show up, and you get the games games selling like thirty million copies, like multiple games selling twenty like over twenty million copies. Got Divorces selling very well. But you know, and on top of that's like you know, Marto Kard eight, the lucks still sixty dollars most of the time. There's a couple of times per year he does go on sale, but it goes down to like forty dollars fifty dollars. For the most part, those games are sixty dollars all year round, the entire generation. They don't even really do those greatest hits anymore where they drop them down to thirty dollars and put a little banner on the cover. They don't even really do that anymore. So Nintendo is maximizing its return on investment in a very optimal way compared to the other companies, and so it just doesn't feel the need to do this stuff. Emulators on PC from Lord Catus. Xbox has said they're not going to announce anything new at their twentieth anniversary showcase. But what previously announced game games do you think we might see? If any excuse me, I you know, obviously they're gonna have to show Halo single player, right, that's gotta be what's at at this thing, right that I haven't looked too closely at what they said is going to be there. I was gonna start looking here pretty soon, but I would imagine that's like the last possible moment they could show that stuff. Now, beyond that, I mean stuff like the gunk. Maybe maybe this is where we do hear about the scorn. Basically, games that we know are coming to Xbox before the end of this year, and I would imagine all that stuff to show up. I think Forts will be out by then, right, because that's early in November and November, so yeah, I think so, uh yeah, I would. I would expect a few things that they've already talked about that are coming out before the end of this year that should show up. I'm a big fan of It's not Iron and Wine Games. That's a band image in Light. No, it's one of those, but I think they're called Thunderful Games. That's the publisher now, but the people that make the my brain is just going completely blank. Steam World Games, the Steam World game Steam World Dig two is one of my favorite games a little time. They're making the gunk, so I'm very I'm looking forward to it. If that shows up, I'll be happy. I just want that game to come out and be great because they make some fantastic mechanically dance games that are really rewarding to play, and if this game is another one of those, I'll be really into it. There's probably a few others that could show up, but I don't know. I like, like, you know, they they probably won't be too image and for him, thank you Blackheart Vine. Uh yeah, image with form? Yeah, what did I say? Lighting form? Maybe got close? Maybe not, but yeah, I would expect it mostly to focus on Halo single player, and that'd be the thing that they have. They have to convince people now that that is worth it, because otherwise people are just gonna go show up for the free to play a Halo something. That's fine. I guess that's a good gateway into the single player, but the single player needs to be good to help game pass. Game Pass needs a boost. We saw those numbers of like, oh, it's it's growing, but it's not growing as fast as they thought, and they wanted to grow as fast as possible, so and Halo could be key to that. From Winter Reese, when what do I need to do to get Nintendo to make a new Endless Ocean game? That was that, like we sort of underwater exploratory game. Right. I think I played that a couple of times. That's a good chill out game, right, I don't know, they're probably not, probably not gonna make another one of those. I don't know. Just go just go play Endless Ocean again. There's probably something on Steam now that's just like that made by some like made like two people if assets off of the Unity store. But it probably does the same thing, probably accomplishes the same thing from casual Dear Senior snacks. How do you decompress when life gets just a smidge stressful? All the best, no good way? Not really. I don't have a lot of times decompress. I just have to embrace the stress and it's it's fine, I'm fine. I try to exercise and work out. That helps a lot and it makes me feel a lot better. It's important for me personally as someone with ADHD. It's very crucial to get that dopamine from working out, and so that helps. A cold shower helps, actually surprisingly cold shower releases like uh nor finephrin? Is that what it is? And this is not like weird, no new tropic science. I'm going over here. This is just like basic stuff. It helps me, not saying it's gonna help anyone else. And then if I just want to do something that's like very relaxing, I will just come in the basement and put on a game kind of pretty basic stuff. I'll play a familiar game more more likely than anything else, not anything that's going to frustrate me, or I'll watch a familiar movie, something I'm familiar with. All that stuff is good, but yeah, exercise is probably the best thing from decent b Any insight as to how the new gun Grave went from a Sony exclusive to an Bracer Group game, and is that a good thing or a bad thing? I don't have any insight on this at all. I'll look into it. I didn't know that this even happened, but I'm not surprised that Embracer has embraced yet another thing. And is that a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know. People that work Frombracer tend to say it's giving them enough money, enough budget to do what they need. And I mean, no one's like running away from that company yet, So I don't know. I would love to get a better look into how and how Embracer Group works, why it is. But I think I said this on Twitter once. It is funny how Embracer Group is like our strategy to be successful is to make as many games as possible, and everyone's like, well, that there's no fucking way that's gonna work. That's insane. Don't do that, and that's like such an insight into how gaming is so volatile and people are like making games is the worst thing you could do in the making games business. But I don't know whether what this means for Gung Grave. I'm not sure. I'll look into it a little bit and see what I see when I come up with from constable constable, how do you manage screen time with your kids? Not well, especially because the pandemic. And we've done a little bit more outside stuff in recent months after we got vaccinated. The problem is they're still not vaccinated. And my one kid is you know, we don't know she she was brought born with general cataracts and she's a praxeo speech and we've got her genetically tested to make sure there's nothing there, but there's probably something there that they just don't know about. And so I'm like always hesitant about like any sort of sickness could be worse for her. I don't know, And so we're trying to be very careful and not going doing too many things. So when we go, we're making sure we're doing all kinds of outside stuff, but there's only so many outside things available. We did the pumpkin patch. It's October. What else can we do when we're not going to go to like a haunted house because usually those are enclosed and stuff like that. So here's your tablet. I'm sorry that. I'm sorry that your life is like this when you're four years old. And so I try not to be too harsh on them, a too like and try and be like, oh, you know, you have to go make your own fun. They are good at making their own fun. Still, They're good at getting off the tablet when they want to and doing all kinds of stuff. And if I enable, if I empower them by giving them art supplies or something, they will go wild and they'll create on their own. So I'm just not too worried about it if they want to spend an hour and a half straight on the tablet watching aby Shark or playing games. Honestly, the way that they play games on the tablets, it's kind of impressive to me. They're four and two, and I just I got them Amazon tablet and I put on kid mode, free time mode, and I got like the premium one, so they get access to all these videos, books and games, and all the games are free and there's no there's no ads in them or anything like that, and there's no micro transactions, and but they're also in this enclosed area where they can't get to the other stuff on the tablet. They can only get to the kids stuff, and so I can kind of hand it to them in the back of the car connected to the internet and not have to worry about anything bad really going wrong. They're just gonna kind of explore stuff on their own, and a lot of times they go to the games, and the way that they problem solve in these games is like, I'm like, I didn't know you could do that. You are You're really like I think I've talked about this before. My one kid, my four year old, she finds these games where you have to like make cats out of these eggs, and it's like it is, you know, you're on a treadmill, but it's all self contained, no ads, no purchases, but you have to like make money in the game, and she talks about, like, I gotta make this money, gotta do this to make money. I'm like, I just did not know that you knew how to do this, and so I kind of just kind of let them go wild. At this point. I'm sure that's going to be detrimental in some way, but I just I don't feel too bad about it. Not in the world we live in right now, and they are still as creative as ever. So I'm like, I'm not really seeing any detrimental effects except for maybe at bedtime trying to take the tablet away at them. It's bad. They cry for like five minutes, but then they go right to sleep, so it hasn't been too much an issue. Yeah, cats from Eggs. I know it's weird. You can ask her about it. I don't know. I don't want to understand it. She'll like ask for help, and I'll be like, kid, you can understand this a thousand times better than I do. I have no idea what's going on in this freaky game. That's a good idea. All the Dino says that they rotate toys between the basement and the living room to have something relatively new to bust out after the screen time. That's a good idea. I should do that. Yeah, let's do one more. Let's wrap up from Laser Party. Follow up on the Capcom Mega Man question would probably no chance of a Breath of Fire revival. I just don't think right Now that's just not where a cooms at. If they're gonna take chances on a game, it's gonna be I think, like a more recent game, and it's gonna like Dragons Dogma, Right, They're gonna take a chance. I'm bringing back Dragons Dogma because they see a pathway forward to build that into something big and new and huge. But something that like is a little bit older than that, it's gonna be a little bit harder to justify. I think they want to focus on known quantities that they know can succeed as the evaluator of rumors, Which recent or persistent industry rumors do you wish would stop being perpetuated? I wish people would take a little bit of a break on all the big, wild eyed Microsoft acquisition rumors. Now, I mean, obviously they're gonna acquire more stuff. They've said as much, so it's not gonna go away, But like, oh, Microsoft's gonna acquire Take two, Microsoft's gonna acquire square Inex, that stuff just seems that's very unlikely, so unlikely that we could probably just dismiss it out of hand, And it's kind of all anyone wants to talk about. And I'm like I'm a little bit over it personally. Oh, I'm doing some quick ones until unless we find them, like one another big one from Dixie Dean eighty two. Next Call of Duty is Modern Warfare two? Almost certainly yes from Chilean ninety two. Do you know when we might see more about that James Bond game from IO? I think probably at least a year and a half, two years, maybe, I guess. I don't know for sure. I think it's still ways off, though you know, they have they have Project Dragon that they're working on with with Microsoft as well, so it's a busy, busy company. And yeah, I think it's gonna take some time for them to get either one of those into a position where they get show it to us. I guess James Bond's probably maybe a little bit closer because it just they'll probably use a lot of the Hitman tech. But yeah, from mister mccrickeldink, what's going on a Bungee? I don't. I don't pay super close attention to Bungee because there are a lot of people who do, and so I kind of feel like it doesn't need to be my beat. I'll look a bit more closely but I'm sure like the stories that are coming out of there, that people are here and are like, yeah, it's it seems like it's in a weird place, like with the way that they handle DLC and stuff like that. I don't know. I don't want to speak to it too much because I don't know enough about the company in terms of like what's going on in there internally. When I talked about like, oh, you know there was conversations at Microsoft, I knew from the Microsoft side, not from the Bungee side, and which is why the CEO Bungee you got mad at me or whatever? All right from fair fair n in phonies. How do I get my kids to stop watching Blippy? You don't. If you try, they'll just want to watch it more. And you gotta keep in mind, like Blippy's trash, right, Blippy blippies trash. Kids love trash. So if you want them, if you want your kids to stop watching Blippy, you just gotta find something that's even worse. And so for a while, for me, it was those like CG generated And I don't mean like oh like CG. I I mean like it felt like a computer was generating these videos in their entirety where you know, Spider Man would turn into a truck and then go into paint and turn a different color, and then pick up those balls and then drive those balls through the pain again, and then all the time, all the while there'd be these sound effects like, oh, hey, like that happened like that, Like they just like randomly selected stuff from from a folder and applied it to this video. And I love those Yes, they're so stupid and silly and they're clearly just like made in like unity or unreal or something like that. And and my kids love them too. And if I don't want to watch Blippy, I put on that instead. Uh so, yeah, there's your answer. Just find the worst trash you possibly can. It's insane because there's so many good children's shows now, and I try to get my kids into them, and sometimes, yeah, they'll watch them. They they like Blue a little bit. They liked Tumbleweed, Tumbelief, Tumbelief for a little bit. I love that show. They like, Yeah, they got like once summer they were like the last are They watched a lot of it. But it's not like something they want to watch over and over Blippy. They want to watch over and over and over. This kid right here, this two year old knows all the songs. So, hi, kiddo, could you put that screwback? Thank you, kiddo, that's important. Thank you. Oh all right, everybody, let's let's do one more video in question. Uh oh yeah, put on Cruising Blast. This from Slayman Awsom. Put a Cruising Blast to get baby Shark out of the kid's heads. My kids do love the Cruising Blast song, and I've been meaning to record them singing it so I have that forever they do. They're like a CUIs In and that's just a classic song. So uh from Kane, Hi win better show in your opinion, King of the Hill or Prime Simpsons. I mean Prime Simpsons is probably better, But lately I've been more in the King of the Hill. I've actually got like I've had like the urge to go watching I started watching some of it. Baby, you gotta I need those screws. Oh my god, she's getting the I'm like putting new stuff in a PC for testing, and I have the case screws, the screws right over here, and she just grabs both of them, runs away, say mc gossip, King Grabb Junior sing a song for us. In the mic they are singing over here, you could probably hear him a little bit. I have the video broadcast on, but it's their human voices allegedly, so you should be able to hear some of it from jetakiv HF Are there any notable industry rumors you wish we're not repeat or not repeated based on your inside or knowledge that happens, But usually there's like a kernel truth, so it's like, oh, I can see how that happens. I think everything that happen, like all the stuff that's happening with Cojim any type, Cojim's name gets brought up and no one else says that. And he's also working with Xbox, and so we have to take that into mind. People continue to dismiss that thing. I just confirmed again that that's still in the works. They're still just putting together the final deal. So yeah, like people need to keep him on that that's probably going to happen. And so yeah, maybe he's doing some other stuff, Maybe there's some other work he's taking on that does involve so Near or whatever, but that does not mean that the Xbox deal has fallen through. And won't happen, and people act like that's the case. From w Q any whispers on street Fighter six, there are like the beginning rumbles like where you hear like, yeah, the street Fighter six is happening, But is that alright?
