Now here's Matt Jones. 00:01:06 Speaker 4: Here's not Matt Jones. I'm Drew Franklin filling in for Matt. He's on vacation this week. Ryan Lemon checked in with him yesterday. Everything good. 00:01:14 Speaker 5: Talk to him. 00:01:14 Speaker 6: You know, I'm also his his real estate agent. 00:01:16 Speaker 5: That's right. 00:01:17 Speaker 6: How's that going good? So we have some business, take care of business. 00:01:21 Speaker 5: Has he been looking for a house? This has been happening since I. 00:01:24 Speaker 6: Think we started in twenty PM, right, thousand and seven. 00:01:30 Speaker 4: No, he's got a good realtor. It was just I think Matt wasn't finding what he wanted. It's not that Ryan wasn't doing his job. 00:01:35 Speaker 6: You know, we can't push a buyer to goodbye. It's kind of just kind of got to be ready when they're ready. 00:01:39 Speaker 5: Can I would just like to say too, if you're home buying, usually it happens when you're not expected. That's true. Because I had a call with my financial guy. This money we've been saving for a down payment. We're just we're not going to find a house anytime soon, so let's let's do something with it. And I think three days later we accepted the offer on our forever home. So, like you know, it's just when you least expected. Yesterday was the anniversary of ours. We offered on April Fol's Day that I forgot about that. You're right, that's what we say. 00:02:08 Speaker 4: We're joking. 00:02:08 Speaker 5: We through that you had a child on a yeah, six years ago, Duke. Yeah, happy, happy, belated to Duke that he had. Uh, he's had a big, big week, some morning lessons. But you're about to get into parenthood, Drew. And the best part about it is that you just watch him grow and you can enjoy the moments. You can hate some of them because they scream at you and they cry, but you know, you realize you just got to take instride. Uh. We had. It was a it was a fun moment. He's he's getting into coach pitch now that age. So I got to Uh, I got to throw soft toss with Yeah. And to see him go from like swinging and missing to like blasting the ball, that was. That was great. It is another moment that was great because I'm sure there's some people out there are like, wait, Ralsh has a kidnamed Duke. 00:02:52 Speaker 4: Yeah, let's let's clean that up. I want to leave that out there. 00:02:54 Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's a family name. That was my grandfather went off you go to Shaveley. There's a big tank there. It's named, says Duke after him. So if he's good enough to have a tank named after him, he's good enough to have a great grandson named after him. But in doing so, you know, he likes the Walcats. His mother was a cardinal Burt, so he'll cheer for them sometimes too. But when Duke was playing in the tournament, he naturally wanted the team named after him to win. 00:03:18 Speaker 6: I just. 00:03:20 Speaker 5: When that shot went in, I didn't hold anything back. I can only imagine I was happy. I was laughing, and it took him a minute to realize that they lost. And when it did, no tears, just so many tears. They cheated. He ran upstairs to his room, you know. So you know, that's the part of growing up, learning how to survive heartbreak through sports. We'll get there. We'll get there a lot in coach pitch too, there's gonna be they didn't have outs, and te ball they didn't have you know, scorekeeping. We're gonna get some tears and coach pitch as well. So it's just it's all part of the learning process. I had a similar experience when Tim Call didn't win the Heisman Trophy. They clearly cheat it by giving Williams. 00:04:04 Speaker 4: People still talk about it. Yeah, definitely cheating. Kind of a teaching moment for you too, to maybe be like, Duke, let's take a walk. I need to tell you about the Blue Devils and how we're not gonna do that in this family. 00:04:13 Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, they're bad guys. You're you're the good guy. They're the bad guys. But at the same time, though, like if you know he he told me Dad, when I get older, I'm gonna play for Duke and I'm gonna beat those wolf dogs. That's what we're calling the wolf Dogs. And in the back of my mind, I'm like, man, I really don't want this to become a thing. But if he was to be good enough at basketball to join the brotherhood, who am I to turn down multimillion dollar in il offers. 00:04:40 Speaker 4: Go play for John Shire for four years. 00:04:42 Speaker 6: You can support Duke like he's about playing basketball for him? 00:04:44 Speaker 5: Absolutely, Yeah, I'll wear a blue shirt. It didn't have to have that logo on it. Uh huh. Yeah, we even make it work. 00:04:49 Speaker 4: You could still push him towards Kentucky a little bit, and if he ends up there, then you deal. 00:04:52 Speaker 5: With because if you're getting offers from Duke, you're also getting offers from Kentuck. 00:04:55 Speaker 7: True. 00:04:55 Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm. 00:04:57 Speaker 4: Still running through my checklist of how the parent. There's a lot to to do and be prepared for, Nick. No one really told me all this goes into it. 00:05:03 Speaker 6: I'm learning. 00:05:04 Speaker 4: You mentioned Game of Thrones earlier. Getting into a daycare is like game of Thrones in this town. Like there's all these different houses and you've got to be on a nine year wait list and you got to like cut off somebody's head to just skip ahead and line it. Yeah, it's a war zone out there. Nobody warned me about that one. 00:05:17 Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's it's also very cheap too a so so cheap. 00:05:21 Speaker 4: Oh not at all. 00:05:22 Speaker 5: Yeah, that's tricky. 00:05:24 Speaker 6: Here. 00:05:24 Speaker 5: Here's one other thing they don't warn you about, Drew. You don't have to worry about this for like a year or so, maybe even a little bit longer. Just prepared to change your diet habits because children they just they they will not try new foods. You may want to try something new, they good luck with that. So you know a lot of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese are in your future. 00:05:47 Speaker 4: That does not change our lifestyle at all. Abby and I eat a blue box of crass mac and cheese weekly and will continue to do that. You mentioned money. Let's make a little money tonight. Oh you all know there we have sports to bet on tonight. Obviously we're gonna use DraftKings sports book. The crown is yours tonight. The n i T foul n i T Final four. Oh, I know everybody's been excited about this. 00:06:09 Speaker 6: I don't even know who's playing. 00:06:11 Speaker 4: Well, let's play that game. Ryan, name one team in the n i T Final four. 00:06:16 Speaker 6: I'm gonna say it's Poop State. 00:06:19 Speaker 4: No the bathroom jokes today? 00:06:22 Speaker 5: Yeah, how about I tell you. 00:06:23 Speaker 4: After he's taken so much heat this year he has been a joke of college basketball. Steven Pearl has Auburn in the final four again, back to back years. Auburn in the final four. Last year was the other final four this year. He has the Tigers in contentionality. 00:06:40 Speaker 6: Who do they play? 00:06:41 Speaker 4: They're the second game they play Illinois State. 00:06:44 Speaker 5: Before that, Wow, two Illinois teams in each Final four. 00:06:48 Speaker 4: And but before that we got a little New Mexico and Tulsa, who we just talked about. 00:06:52 Speaker 5: So Richard Patino no longer in New Mexico. Is Jamal Maxburn Junior still also Mexican? 00:06:57 Speaker 6: I think he's in the G League. Maybe Jamal Junior. 00:07:01 Speaker 5: Antonio Reeves no longer back at Illinois State. Remember when people started up that rumor he was gonna go back to Illinois State. 00:07:08 Speaker 4: That was a fun connection. Jay Hall is the leading scorer for New Mexico. He looks like a TikToker, but he gets buckets, so he will be leading the Lobos tonight. We're gonna do our picks. Since you all didn't know the teams, I'm gonna assume you're locked in on covering the spread. First game, seven o'clock live from Hinkle Field House in Indianapolis. They do it. 00:07:27 Speaker 5: We're the final four. Is fine. 00:07:28 Speaker 4: By the way, they realized no one cares about this. Let's just latch on to the other final four. It's like when w CW would just go to the city where WWF was and just tried their best to get some crowd. That's what the n I T does now. But on ESPN, New Mexico versus Tulsa a Battle. New Mexico is a two and a half point favorite. 00:07:46 Speaker 5: Give me the dogs. We taked Golden Hurricane earlier. Shout out to Aaron Love, shout out to the Portal House. Let's go Golden Hurricane. 00:07:52 Speaker 6: Yeah, we've shouted her out. W Smith. Was it Tulsa? That's right? Bill self? Was it Tulsa? 00:07:57 Speaker 5: One of the few mask Tulsa that doesn't with an s? 00:08:00 Speaker 6: It's right, it's one of like it's like fifteen to Division one schools and nicknames. It does, and then I should know more than that one. 00:08:08 Speaker 4: They're leading scores. David Green. He looks exactly like the guy from seven, So if anyone watches that show he does, well, yeah that might even be him. 00:08:14 Speaker 5: But he can dance like that. 00:08:16 Speaker 4: Probably not, but he's gonna dance tonight because I also like to Shannon. 00:08:21 Speaker 3: All Right, I guess I'll be the one guy. I'll take New Mexico and the two and a half. I was gonna take him anyway before you guys took Tulsa. 00:08:27 Speaker 6: So I'll go to New Mexico and in. 00:08:28 Speaker 4: The nightcap, which I'm sure everyone will stay up for nine thirty ESPN, Steven Pearl first Illinois State. Auburn is a seven and a half point favorite. 00:08:39 Speaker 5: I want Auburn to win and not cover. I really want them to have an n T runner up banner at Auburn Arena. That would be a lot of fun. 00:08:48 Speaker 4: What all this hat he gets? He goes and wins the n IT and they're just conflicted, like, well, we didn't even want that, but now I guess we have to celebrate. 00:08:55 Speaker 6: It's why I'm pulling for him. I want them to win. I want Auburn to win the thing so they have to sell break an n T banner after not even making the NCAA tournament. 00:09:04 Speaker 4: Seven and a half is too many points, way too many points. I'm taking Illinois State to cover, but Auburn will win the game. What about you, Shannon, Yeah, I like where you guys are at there. 00:09:12 Speaker 3: I think Auburn wins the game. I think seven and a half is too much, so I take Illinois plus the seven and a half. 00:09:17 Speaker 5: Can I give you a future on the Draft Kings. 00:09:20 Speaker 4: I was about to shout out a few more DraftKings things, but if you have one, go ahead. 00:09:24 Speaker 5: They say that the NCAA Tournament is three two game tournaments, so I like to bet who survives the two game tournament Like that Illinois at four to one. They're they're playing really good ball right now, and everybody's talking about how Arizona Michigan is the real national championship game. If Illinois keeps this up, if they can make their threes, I like that one. And you know another thing, I want to try on the Final Four this week and too, Drew, I want to see. I want to test if the Final four stadium sight lines is a real thing. And bet first half unders in both games. Yeah, I like that first because they might eventually figure it out. But let's bet on the nerves to be a little little tight first half hundreds in both games. 00:10:06 Speaker 4: I've been to a Final Four in Indianapolis. I did not enjoy it. I did not enjoy it. But I'll be locked right for bringing that up. That's okay, that's okay. But check all that out on DraftKings. Baseball season's going on, beccats. Yeah, you can get Kentucky baseball in there all that time. 00:10:18 Speaker 5: I get home six pot thirty tomorrow night and get some miszoo. Yeah, check them out. The crown is yours, Shannon. Let's knock out a few calls real quick. 00:10:25 Speaker 3: All right, let's go to Bob and Jamestown. 00:10:27 Speaker 4: Bob, I've been waiting for this phone call. How you doing, buddy? 00:10:31 Speaker 8: What do you say? Guys? Just a little moon, little moon story. Back in nineteen sixty nine, Pollo eleven, the first Man on the moon Walk, Neil Armstrong. Okay, Kevin Greevy and I were in the summer school class and Kevin brought this black and white TV to watch the blast off, and we were sitting there and they were doing the countdown T minus ten nine eight seven. All of a sudden, the TV just went to snow right before the blast off. Kevin got mad and just reached over and smacked the top of that TV really hard, and the picture came on right off the lift off. What was happening? That was really supsate? I mean back there, you know, I was really I mean all over the world that first man on the moon walking, you know, one step for man, one step for mankind. But it was a little story there with Kevin Greevy back when we watched that that liftop. 00:11:31 Speaker 4: I'm much more interested in why Kevin Greevy's just walking around with his own TV? Where we did he just show up? He had a TV in his hands, and plugged it in. 00:11:38 Speaker 8: No, he brought it from home. We brought it when we knew that, you know, lift off was going to be that morning. We were in a summer school class, taking a math class and he brought this, you know, small portable black and white TV, and I guess, hey, we were watching it and all of a sudden, right before the liftof, it just went the snow well. He reached over then and I mean really, this smack the heck out of it. And then it before the liftof the picture came back on. 00:12:04 Speaker 5: I would have just skipped class. 00:12:07 Speaker 4: I wouldn't have been in class either. Appreciate the call, Bob. I guess I'm the only one the things. It's weird that he just showed up to summer school with his own TV. 00:12:13 Speaker 5: Or they didn't. I know, Whitehall probably wasn't the most technology back then, but you would have thought about you have double box TV on the cart, you roll it in, you watch the Apollo Levan Mission, which that's a very fun documentary, the one though they did in twenty nineteen. 00:12:27 Speaker 6: Part of me wants to throw the flag on Bob's. 00:12:29 Speaker 4: Story, Yeah, throw it, Please throw the flag. 00:12:31 Speaker 6: Kevin Grivy's senior year was seventy five. 00:12:33 Speaker 5: This was sixty nine. This was sixty nine, So I don't think he would have been in school for six years. Oh Bob, I'm just throwing the flag on the nets. Unless Kevin Grievy was a six year student. So maybe it was another guy named Kevin Gravy. All right, maybe telling me. 00:12:48 Speaker 4: Bob isn't being truthful. 00:12:50 Speaker 6: I love Bob. 00:12:51 Speaker 4: I'm gon choose to believe it. 00:12:53 Speaker 6: His memory maybe a little off on this one. 00:12:54 Speaker 4: I just have this image of Kevin Grievy walking around with a big TV under his arms, and you just everywhere he goes he plugs in and watch whatever's on. That's what I'm gonna choose to believe. 00:13:02 Speaker 5: It's the equivalent of the boom box in the nineties. 00:13:04 Speaker 4: I guess when you're the star basketball player, you can just show up with your own team, do whatever you want. Who's up next? 00:13:08 Speaker 5: Ten? 00:13:08 Speaker 4: It's good to Roy. 00:13:10 Speaker 9: Hello, Roy, Hey fellas, how's it going? 00:13:14 Speaker 4: Excellent? 00:13:17 Speaker 9: So I got two things for you. My first question is, in your opinion, who is the best dressed Kentucky football coach we've ever had? My wild card will be Rich Brooks. He was always a gentleman, always had lots of class. 00:13:29 Speaker 5: I think Frank Cursey wore a tile on the sideline. Yeah, Frank Frank Cursey. That whole seventies Arrow Art still had hit the mink coat like. They had some swagger back then, probably because they were paying everybody and it was in the rules, but they had some swagger back in the Frank Cursey era. 00:13:44 Speaker 6: You talk to some of the ladies back in the seventies, Frank Cursey had some major swagger, like he was a. 00:13:51 Speaker 4: Heart thrive that did you like our pick of Frank Cursey? There are you sticking with Rich Brooks? 00:13:59 Speaker 8: Man? 00:13:59 Speaker 9: Rich Brooks had this two tone sweatshirt. It was blue on top and gray on the bottom, And of course I grew up on Brooks as a kid. I cannot find that sweatshirt anywhere. I would love to have it. 00:14:09 Speaker 4: Super vintage yep, I agree. I appreciate the call. Uh that Music City Bowl era Woods and all those guys. That's still my favorite UK uniform. Some some good swag there. It's kind of coming back his throwbacks. Now Mario probably goes down to vintage therapy and buys it all up. All that look from that era. But I like the Brooks pick wouldn't Claiburn didn't he rock some sweaters? 00:14:29 Speaker 6: Bill? 00:14:29 Speaker 5: Bill Curry is the one who I think of loved some sweaters. Bill Curry great human, better human than football coach. Yes we can say that. What a nice real nice guy. You know when people die they say, you know, he was an even better person than than player. Usually like it's like, no, they were great players, that's why we're talking about them. Uh, Bill Curry better person than in football? 00:14:54 Speaker 4: What about the Mark Stoops slimming black look? You know he'd wear a lot of black and when he was in his best shape, he'd bring out the blue tucked in. When he is, you know, working in a few too many what's that coffee. 00:15:06 Speaker 5: He would drink? Oh he would drink a whole milk. 00:15:08 Speaker 4: Yeah, when he had too many of those, we'd go a little bag. You're black? Does he fit into the equation? 00:15:12 Speaker 5: I love the jacket selection for the catwalks because they. 00:15:16 Speaker 4: Remember thinking about catwalk. Remember the Camo one he pulled out was a great dresser on the catwalk. Yeah, he should be included. 00:15:22 Speaker 5: He was shopping at Well against Lexington. All Righting up, on those sports codes. 00:15:27 Speaker 6: Much better dresser during the catwalk than he would be on a daily basis. 00:15:31 Speaker 4: And then he'd lock in. And now we got will Stein just rocking power K all the time. 00:15:34 Speaker 5: And there's gonna be a time about fifteen twenty years from now when Stoops is back in town for something and he's gonna take his hat off and all that hair is gonna be gone and received Mark, I'm glad you finally made it, brother, when you came home. 00:15:49 Speaker 4: Man, one of your finest moments in case I SEC media days a few years ago. Well, we'll take more calls like that. And Nick and I and Ryan are gonna break down the road games and the football. 00:15:58 Speaker 5: So oh yeah, we're going on a road trip. We gotta play our SEC road trip this fall. 00:16:01 Speaker 4: Let's do it. We'll be right back after this. Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio Drew Franklin with Ron Lemon, Nick Rauch and Shannon the Dude. Got a big birthday party going on, guys, I feel prepared. I didn't bring my party hat. But Jack from Flemingsburg just walked in with the crew boys celebrating a twelfth birthday. 00:16:20 Speaker 6: Is Jack, Happy birthday? 00:16:21 Speaker 4: Happy birthday Jack, y'all still out of trouble back there here we go. 00:16:24 Speaker 6: Looks like, guys, they have maybe one of the best in the state. You're exactly right about that. 00:16:32 Speaker 4: Just think he had to drive past that to come here for his birthday special. But happy birthday to Jack and the boys back there. 00:16:37 Speaker 6: So are they skipping school today? 00:16:39 Speaker 4: I wasn't gonna say anything, but I would see it that way. It could be spring breaks, it could be there. Yeah, we're gonna spring break. Territory mentioned that we're gonna go over the football schedule this shorter segment with a hard break. I'mone knock out some calls and we'll do that next because I know Ralis is excited to. 00:16:52 Speaker 5: Teach the road road trips. 00:16:53 Speaker 4: But for right now, let's get some more phone call Shannon. Who's up next? 00:16:56 Speaker 3: All right, let's go to Sam. 00:16:57 Speaker 4: Hello, Sam, Hey, guys, how's it going going well? 00:17:05 Speaker 7: I just wanted to ask real quick, get it, get off topic and go back to Bob Ross. 00:17:09 Speaker 5: But yes, you know, for every show Bob. 00:17:12 Speaker 7: Ross painted three identical paintings, and that they haven't sold any of them, and the first time coming up for sale is this summer. Oh I want to get Boss original. 00:17:23 Speaker 4: Wow, Oh you're telling me I can get a Bob Ross original. Why did he do three paintings? Educate me on that freak show? 00:17:30 Speaker 7: Uh there was one a finished the finished product, the in work product, and I'm not sure what the third one was. But yeah, for us closet Bob Ross fans, it's a it's a really interesting thing. But the Conservatory is having the first auction ever for Bob Ross stuff this summer, so you're talking millions are probably gonna coming out of that. 00:17:49 Speaker 4: Oh man, this is this is the best thing you could have said to me. I can't afford that, but I would like to dream that I could one day own a Bob Well. 00:17:55 Speaker 5: The way I understand it too is he practiced so much to get it just right, so he would have many different iterations. But uh, yeah, I'm seeing online that a few of them have sold in other auctions for a couple hundred grand here or there, so I don't have that. Yeah, yeah, you got daycare to pay. 00:18:11 Speaker 4: For that's true. That's true. I appreciate the call. I love that. 00:18:14 Speaker 6: There's a legend about Bob Ross. I was gonna ask you about Okay, somebody sent us a note that said, every painting, if you put them together, back to back to back, is one continuous scene. Like That's why it looked like he was painting the same scene over and over. But if you put him together, it's like the river running through the mountains. It's like it's all one. 00:18:33 Speaker 4: It's a journey to journey. I don't know if I believe that, because there's got to be just hundreds and hundreds of paintings. 00:18:38 Speaker 5: I think somebody could just make a foot book out of all of the paintings. Yeah, make it look like that. But you know what, I would like to think that Bob Ross was playing ten steps ahead. 00:18:46 Speaker 4: That's right. Have all things to stick from doing the show this week, the Bob Ross thing. It's oh, it's really been overwhelming. 00:18:51 Speaker 6: You never know what's gonna hit. But definitely there's an audience for Bob Ross. People like you. 00:18:55 Speaker 5: They just there's so much joy in painting. Yeah. 00:18:58 Speaker 4: Abby and I had our first ever fight last and involved Bob Bross. You know, we've never fought as a married couple. We get along great, but last night I had to go do an airport pick up, late airport pick up. I was there at like twelve thirty and when I came home, she was watching Bob Ross's David out Men, and I was like, thank, I didn't want to watch this episode. You know when you got your love when you can't be going ahead on TV show. Who So I walk in and she's just watching watching Happy Trems without. 00:19:18 Speaker 5: Me, especially one of those shows where you have no idea what's going on if you if you missed any of it. 00:19:23 Speaker 6: I know. 00:19:23 Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm not here being a good citizen, doing a little airport pick up after midnight, and I come home and I'm behind one episode of Bob. 00:19:30 Speaker 6: Yeah, how could you ever catch up if you missed the first five ten minutes of a Bob Ross. 00:19:34 Speaker 5: No way, no chance. 00:19:35 Speaker 4: We have time for one more, Shannon, Let's do one more. Let's get it right. I didn't hear what Shannon said, but go ahead, sir, Riley. 00:19:41 Speaker 7: Riley, Oh Hello, sorry guys. 00:19:44 Speaker 5: I my bad. 00:19:44 Speaker 8: I'm like, I'm in school. 00:19:45 Speaker 4: I'm like, can't we can't say the S word? 00:19:50 Speaker 3: Yeah, he's done. 00:19:52 Speaker 5: Okay, Well, you know what. 00:19:53 Speaker 4: I've hosted the show twice this week, and both times we've had an S bomb. 00:19:57 Speaker 5: It's been both times that I've been here, and that's true. I'm bringing the and that's how was that was a school teacher? 00:20:02 Speaker 6: Is the school teacher? The school teacher in front of these students, he's in class or a school Was that a student? 00:20:07 Speaker 4: I don't know, Shannon, appreciate you being quick to the dump button there, so wonder what was going on. Sounded like some activity in the background, some education going on, and then we got a poddy mouth. 00:20:19 Speaker 6: I don't know what was going on there. 00:20:21 Speaker 5: I still remember it was fourth grade. The first time I heard a teacher cuss had us. And it's because during the nine to eleven memorial service we had, I may or may not have ripped a very very loud fart. 00:20:35 Speaker 4: Oh my god. 00:20:35 Speaker 5: Yeah yeah. So after the service he asked why I was acting like such a damn clown. And I couldn't be like you said, a curse work because I was, Yeah, you were that inappropriate flatulets. 00:20:50 Speaker 4: My favorite teacher, Michael D. Lowry, seventh grade. I love him. He I've misbehaved from time to time. Guy, it's not gonna lie come home. I was never never too far, but i'd get a little chatty in the back, pull prank or two didn't pay a lot of attention he had. He had to give me the damn word one time too, so I could it. Sometimes you need to be told. But what that guy just said on radio. 00:21:09 Speaker 5: We can't say it. 00:21:11 Speaker 6: I get this in trouble. 00:21:12 Speaker 4: This is year like fifteen for me. I've yet to I'm gonna knock be care not. I've not been dumped yet. I know Matt's even let one slip. We've had you. You were dumped just a month ago at the SEC. 00:21:23 Speaker 5: I have not seen you since Ryan, But what the hell? 00:21:25 Speaker 6: Man? 00:21:26 Speaker 4: He was filling the crowd. We're in Nashville excitement. 00:21:30 Speaker 6: During that commercial break. I looked at Drew and like, I can't believe I just said that. They just kind of slipped out. I've been dubbed twice. That was my second time. 00:21:37 Speaker 5: It's the Michael Scott. Yeah. For sometimes you start a sentence and you don't know what you're gonna say. 00:21:42 Speaker 4: Channon, you're an old pro. If you had to hit the button on yourself before. 00:21:44 Speaker 3: Twenty two years in radio, I never have see me. 00:21:47 Speaker 4: And you a couple of pros. Match Ryer is just always out of control and we're keeping everybody in line. Then had to spread the wealth. Coming up, we're gonna do the football schedule, Nick Rouse, you're gonna walk us through it. You want to do. 00:23:04 Speaker 5: We're playing. We're gonna play in a road trip because I know you all love KSR road trips. Well, we got some great ones, some good ones this year. 00:23:11 Speaker 6: Hell yeah yeah, And. 00:23:13 Speaker 4: You get to do all these you and Adam Lucking Oh, you get to make these trips. So I'm excited to hear what you're excited about. We'll be right back with football scheduled talk after this. 00:23:22 Speaker 1: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. 00:23:25 Speaker 4: He'll make them pay now. 00:23:26 Speaker 3: More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:30 Speaker 4: Here's Matt Jones. Here's not Matt Jones. I'm Drew Franklin filling in for Matt with Ryan Nick Rouse Shannon the Dude. We're having fun here at KOs Bar and Grill. I just met Clara over there. She's got a birthday coming up and she just finished her visit around UK. Another shout out from here at kospar and Yeah, she did the whole tour. 00:23:46 Speaker 6: Her dad, Gators, a friend of mine and from Cincinnati area, came down here to tour the campus and then they're going to Bellerman this afternoon. Nick gave some great advice from turning them turning Bellarman. 00:23:55 Speaker 5: Just park at the top of the hill. You don't need to walk down to see the fields. It's it's it's a steep time up. I think I need to go on a two of you case campus. It's it's not the same campus that I went to. 00:24:05 Speaker 4: I'm leaving here and going to the student center at noon. If you would like to go, you can go be the old guy walking around the student center with me if you would like to join. 00:24:10 Speaker 5: I'm sure that's a comfortable situation. 00:24:12 Speaker 6: Is Abby still working? 00:24:14 Speaker 4: Yeah, she's over there. Were gonna have a little lunch to say it better because that's where we're going. 00:24:19 Speaker 5: Okay, because that's not I got I gotta readjust on the fly here. It was a race to get the when they would raw out the spicy biscuits at. 00:24:25 Speaker 6: The Old See. 00:24:26 Speaker 4: Sometimes I go over there and meet her and I do the champions, the whole the big cafeteria where the kids are. You know, I get the you can go get a little taco with some Chinese and sliced the pizza. They just have everything. Can you swipe in? And so I'll be roaming around. 00:24:40 Speaker 6: The old I gotta tell Nick my Bellerman story. 00:24:43 Speaker 5: If you don't mind tell it. 00:24:44 Speaker 6: I don't mind the big rivals for Kentucky Wesley when I played baseball GLVC. So we have to come to Bellman every spring. And Shannon knows this because he played there. And you know this. The baseball field kind of sits down from a hill, the bottom of the hill. I played left field. The athletic students at Bellaman would bring their beer and sit on the hill right there, right by left field, and yell at me. The whole game. 00:25:06 Speaker 5: Sounds like a great time. 00:25:07 Speaker 6: Hey who left the hat out in left field? The plane, the plane, boss, the plane. I mean, it was non stop for the doubleheader. They picked on me. 00:25:18 Speaker 5: The whole day. 00:25:19 Speaker 6: So I hated playing there a Bella. 00:25:20 Speaker 4: I love that. 00:25:21 Speaker 5: It's between that and Derby. You get picked over a lot in the city. 00:25:24 Speaker 6: Yes, you're right about that. 00:25:25 Speaker 4: We have two more things quickly because we have to get to this football talk. Crutch told us, I love when this happened. Someone called the bar, which isn't I mean, it's affiliated with the radio show. But this week young college kids at the door. They can't handle radio show topics. But someone called in to correct us on Kevin Greevy, but they were not right. 00:25:45 Speaker 6: The collar Tod Crutch. Greevy graduated college in seventy one. 00:25:49 Speaker 5: No, he was on the seventy five team. 00:25:50 Speaker 6: Graduated in college in seventy five. Oh American graduated high school in seventy one. So we figured out Bob's talking about it was a high school summer class because Bob's from Ohio. Greevy from Ohio. So Bob and Kevin Greevy were probably in a summer high school math class. 00:26:07 Speaker 4: Even better that he's carried his own TV in high. 00:26:09 Speaker 6: Yeah, and carried his O on TV. And to watch the moon the moonlanding. 00:26:11 Speaker 4: I had to make up hours at Madison miltonrth Hopkins. We'd have to get into that, but I packed a PlayStation with me one time, so I get it. Sometimes you just gotta bring your own electronics to school. It happens. 00:26:19 Speaker 5: I want to learn and getting done in summer school. 00:26:21 Speaker 4: One more thing I have to bring up. It's not breaking news by any means, but I always talk about how I like how will Stein and the staff are active on social media. 00:26:27 Speaker 5: Yes, you know, the last regime they did a lot. 00:26:29 Speaker 4: Of good things, but they weren't really that interesting Mark, Yes, you know, but will Stein's been good about shouting out former players, the lums and all of that. Today He's tweeted a picture just now with Craig Yeast at practice today, which just really opens the door for you to do your Craig YaST impersonation. 00:26:46 Speaker 6: Craig Yeast, you know what, Tim catch his name is up there at Commonwealth Stadium because of me. Craig Yeast perfect. 00:26:54 Speaker 4: But I love will captured it legend. You know, he had Andre Woodson there a few days ago. I love that he's doing and Stoops did this too, but I like that he's you know, putting it out for fans excited about. 00:27:04 Speaker 6: Yeah, well, well Stein, he looked up to these guys. He was a fan. He was coming to watch games when Craig Yeast and Tim Couch were playing in some of these guys, he gets it. He understands how excited we give and we see Benny Snail walk in the restaurant or somebody. 00:27:17 Speaker 5: I don't think he'll go on the record and say it, but the way he talks about Rafaye a Little makes me think that that was his favorite player. He was because Little is also one of those that gets overwhelmed because he he dealt with injuries, He was skinny, he was all undersized. 00:27:30 Speaker 4: That team had a lot of stars too, a lot of names. 00:27:32 Speaker 5: But he I mean the reason why he was so awesome is because he did everything. I mean it was like a thousand rushing yards six hundred receiving yards. Maybe not to the same statistical output as a Dot White, yes, but little absolute stud from the same high school in South Carolina. We're rating Radio. Yeah, I remember. 00:27:50 Speaker 6: Radio came to a home game and Rafa a Little was here and led Kentucky onto the field when Raffe Alittle was right behind holding his hand, Whiter behind him. 00:27:57 Speaker 5: We got us taking a stroll down memory Lane. Well, I am gonna take a brief on because I want to tell y'all if you were thinking about doing these SEC road trips, I've been to many of the locations. I can come with recommendations because let's be let's be honest, it's gonna be it's gonna be tough, but we're not scared. We're not going to church. We're hitting the road to watch the wildcats. And the one that I think is most ripe for an upset this year, that would be the most satisfying road win is one where we've seen plenty of road winds before. South Carolina. 00:28:25 Speaker 4: Yes, Bryan's favorite place. 00:28:27 Speaker 5: I hate South Carolina, So between the two of us, it has been a house of horrors. Rhyde. Yeah, the year I don't know if it was the same road trip that you got punched in the face. I think that might have been the same year that I got in a fender bender. Was pulling it was in the mountains, pulling off and somebody side swipe me, hit me in the back, banging up the quarter pad. We duct taped the bumper back up. We go to the gate, We drive with the duct tape bumper the rest of the way. It was one of those things. They wrote me a ticket for getting hit. The cops said I didn't have to pay it, and then when I went to go get my real idea, they told me that my license has been suspended for the last two years for not paying a ticket for getting hit. 00:29:05 Speaker 6: Wow. 00:29:06 Speaker 5: Also got pulled over on that trip to South Carolina. It's not bro It is a fun place to go to and from a game perspective, because a the atmosphere underrated, one of the best in the SEC. Like you talk about all the other big stadiums South Carolina Williams Rice Staium at night, it's awesome. It's a lot of fun to be in there for that those games before. 00:29:26 Speaker 6: I got punched, it was incredible. It is the environment is it is one of the best in the SEC. 00:29:32 Speaker 4: What a great story anything that starts with before I got punched. What a great way to lead into your. 00:29:36 Speaker 5: The other thing too, Drew. You know it is for us older guys, Like all these college towns have something, but South Carolina is similar to Lexington. It's state capital, so they have stuff for old guys, right, Like we can go out and about and not feel weird. That we're at college bars. 00:29:50 Speaker 4: I've celebrated to Valentine's Days there. I used to. I haven't done the football game, but for many years I would go for the basketball game. I like Columbia as a city. It was caball team was rolling the cow got kicked out there one time throwing the lobs. But I made that trip many times and Abbey went with me. We've had fun there. I had fun there as a idiot, bounced around tin roof and going on nice dates. There's like an oyster place. 00:30:11 Speaker 5: The Oyster Bar pearls. 00:30:12 Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh that's a great spot. 00:30:14 Speaker 5: Second floor, great people watching. Played wife or daughter, that's a that's it's a very fun uh place play that. 00:30:21 Speaker 4: We were on a date. It was kind of early in our relationship and someone told me the Oyster Shooter record and I said, okay, well let's see if we can give that and hopefully I still have the record. 00:30:30 Speaker 5: Uh. 00:30:31 Speaker 4: Let's go over the actual road games though, so our listeners so something know. The schedule we got first up is at Texas A and M correct at these aren't in order of the guy. I'm just skipping over the home games you got at South Carolina. Then the first ever trip to Oklahoma? Correct is this year? Then Tennessee and Missouri. Ralsh, what do you know about Oklahoma? Have you done your research? 00:30:48 Speaker 5: I have not done my research. Although our good friend at Sooner scoop with on three, Eddie Rodosovich. He's quite the cartoon character. I'm sure he will enlighten us to everything that Norman has to offer. They're building a very fancy schmancy basketball entertainment complex deal to go along with it. 00:31:05 Speaker 4: Basketball excitement down there, so. 00:31:07 Speaker 5: Much basketball ex tite. I believe they were in the Crown last night playing in the Crown. So I don't know anything about War Memorial Stadium. That will be my first trip down there. We're not gonna get a Stoops Bowl. It will Bob be there and like really go out and boo Kentucky like so there's some weird dynamics with all of that, but it'll probably be ignored at the time. So that's one I haven't been to. But the rest of these I have. Columbia, Missouri, it gets hated on a lot Como's awesome, like it really is. The stadium's renovations I think should be finished by the time this game happens this year and it is late November, though, so you're gonna have Grace guys for an eleven am local kick on SEC network. I can already pencil that in. But going out on a Friday night there they got like a greasy burger joint that's cash only, so you know it's good Shakespeare. Shakespeare's pizza is really good. I once to watch the Cubs and when they were in their World Series run, I got asked to leave their two keys version whatever their two keys is there. I forget Dolly's Darty something like that. They politely asked me to leave round the night before. 00:32:09 Speaker 4: Because you're just being too nice. Yeah, we can't have all this kindness in here. You have to go. 00:32:13 Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, but Como is like it. It feels culturally different. But it's a short drive. I think it's one of the shortest you can get in the SEC. So if you if Kentucky's playing well and maybe you know a Bowl game could potentially be on the line, that's a fun one to consider late November, but the one unless you're one of these I want to try Oklahoma because I haven't checked it off my list. I have never been there. Before Texas A and M Kyle Field. We make fun of them for being a cult, but when you're in the cult, it's pretty fun. 00:32:45 Speaker 4: And so that's what most people in cults say. 00:32:47 Speaker 5: It is how I imagine a European soccer game is where everybody sings, they do everything in unison, and where the press box is located on top of the stadium. I had to leave because I was I was terrified. They have signs that say don't worry if the press box shake, that's normal. It's not gonna fall down. But you're still so high up and there's so many people and it's swaying throughout the game that I ended up watching most of the game from the sidelines. But the people there are incredibly nice, a little weird, but incredibly nice. One hundred and ten thousand people there rocking. That's an awesome atmosphere. Potential J Bateman revenge game. Maybe the defense that it's a bunch of big turnovers. We took them to overtime the last time down there. Kentucky were to get a win, they'd be great. And the little strip of bars where Dixie Chicken and all that is, it's only a stone throwaway so Texas, A and M. I can't say enough nice things about it. Is easy flight to Austin or Houston for flight on flight. You know, some people just stay in Austin and then they'll drive over for the game time. But College Station is I can't If I were to pick one road trip, it would be that one. We'll be back in Oklahoma in a few years. But I love Texas and them. I love College Station and I hate Tennessee. I know it's it's right down the road. This is not drue like you know, we don't like Tennessee, but it is objectively the worst fan experience in the Southeastern Conference. From park you park in a dungeon in their parking garage is there or a mile away up the hill, and then you go into the stadium that's been cobbled together over one hundred years. It's crowded, it's crazy. Concourse is like tens so tight, the concourse are so tiny, and then they just try to pack you in. I don't think they got any chairbacks anything nelon stadium. It's it's a complete garbage dump. I can't say enough bad things about it. Maybe it'll change when they finish their entertainment district. But don't waste your time going there. But I will say, though all this talk at practice about going faster and playing faster, I think this coach is going to be ready for that Tennessee game. 00:34:45 Speaker 4: Don't get us talked into that too much right now. 00:34:47 Speaker 5: If you were to pick one road game to win, wouldn't that be the Oh? 00:34:50 Speaker 4: Absolutely, I'm picking Tennessee every time. It doesn't matter the circumstances. 00:34:54 Speaker 5: I sadly Kentucky's only win in my lifetime in that stadium is during the COVID, and so I've never been able to see a Kentucky victory at Eland Stadium. I've been told sometimes, Nick, just just reel it back in. You don't have to be so over the top, you know, just doubt it back. There will be no doubling it back. If Kentucky wins an Eland this year, Josh Hipel oh huh no, gosh, I need it. I need it so bad. 00:35:20 Speaker 4: But I was there one year. I went with my dad, Tennessee fan, and there's a screenshot I have where Lona Sieber is kicking an extra point and behind the uprights it's all orange but one little dot of blue. And that was me. 00:35:31 Speaker 5: It was the only blue. 00:35:32 Speaker 4: Shirt that you can see in the entire background of the end zone. And Kentucky had a lead in that game, and I was standing up on my bleachers yelling play Rocky Top, now, play Rocky Top. 00:35:41 Speaker 5: Now. 00:35:41 Speaker 4: I wanted all of the smoke. And then we lost and I had to eat all that crow on the way. But being the one person in the sea of orange that was that was an adrenaline rush. 00:35:51 Speaker 5: If you are a faithful Kentucky football fan and you have never been on the road to watch the Wildcats, I'm telling you there is no great feeling in the world. There's no greater drug in the world than winning a road sec football game. When Kentucky beat Ole mess with Brock vandergriff I was walking around whatever they call the Square or whatever invincible, I'm like the Spider Man after he just the you can't be stopped. You're on top of the world. It's just drunk, sad people everywhere, and you just you're high five and everybody you see him blue. It's the best feeling. I know a lot of friends they do an annual road trip. If you're not in one of these annual road trips, go ahead and do it, because that's that's one of the fun parts about being in the SEC. Drew right, If we're gonna play all these big teams and have these big games at Kroger Field, going out and venturing out and experience some of the other ones, and it makes the experience more fun. And one thing that Mark Stoop said too, he went out and he won a lot of those games, and he made it to where when you showed up, you know the guys like a Sturdy Dan Danny who would their crew, they would go to all those road games and they would sit through losses. Stoop's got some wins to where you believe when you showed up, the Cats had a chance. And so I think will Stein's going to bring that back after a couple of tough l's and I just I'm so fired up. I can't wait to be leaving a road stadium this fall after big tucky victory. 00:37:13 Speaker 4: I think backed on A and M. Well, they had a couple of trips in the fifties, but the only one in modern history since they've been in the SEC, that overtime game, the Josh Allen defensive play was It's like in the back of the end zone. It was like a superhuman effort to deflect the player that we already knew how good Josh Allen was, but I think that even added more to his legs. They just couldn't finish the job there in O two. 00:37:31 Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a big Chris Oates game. He played well. 00:37:35 Speaker 6: The UK fans went to that game, came back talk about how awesome it was, the environment, fans, everybody was. Everything was awesome. 00:37:41 Speaker 4: Nick and I were and Austin was that two years ago? 00:37:44 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:37:44 Speaker 4: So those the Texas just does it much bigger than that felt like an NFL game. 00:37:48 Speaker 5: Yeah, that was more of NFL, whereas like Texas A and M is the college cult environment. 00:37:55 Speaker 4: Should we go to the night before where they do their yell practice? 00:37:57 Speaker 5: Yeah no, I mean, like you're I went because it's I'm working. It's KSR. Take some pictures video, but it's a waste of time. You're gonna see it the next day. It's easier to get drinks there. Weird ruling Texas. You can't get a picture of beer unless you have somebody with you or something. It's like two drinks only that was a rule all we're down in a college station. 00:38:17 Speaker 4: I'd be like a mannequin, like when people are driving in the in the lane where you're gonna have two passengers. 00:38:21 Speaker 5: Oh yeah, that's my friend Terry. We'll take a picture. Man eighty grand. That game he tried to win with Terry Wilson. It didn't work. We had one big win bubven screen and that was about it. 00:38:29 Speaker 4: Still a fun year, though, What a fun show. We got to take another breaks buying. 00:38:34 Speaker 5: Wow, it's fun talking ball it is. 00:38:36 Speaker 4: We'll be right back. Welcome back to KSR. One last segment here from KOs Bar and Grill, Drew Franklin, royin Lem and Nick Rause, Shannon the Dude, Shane. We're talking during the break. You're going on vacation. Uh next week, got some exciting stuff lined up. 00:38:53 Speaker 3: You know, the Braves are out in Arizona. I'm gonna be out there, so I thought maybe you'd catch the Diamondbacks and the Braves. 00:38:59 Speaker 6: You know. 00:38:59 Speaker 3: Cool it is the Diamondbacks stadium. Is that the one that has the swimming pool out in center field? 00:39:04 Speaker 6: I think it is. Yeah, I still do that. 00:39:07 Speaker 3: Just saying, you know, I always thought who goes to a game and goes to the swimming pool. But I guess if you have season tickets, maybe you do. 00:39:12 Speaker 4: That is the place. But I was wondering would you get in the pool? Sounds like you wouldn't. 00:39:15 Speaker 3: Uh, probably not like if again, if I had season tickets and I was there like all the time, maybe so, But I'm not going like for one off just to go swimming. I mean, I could do that in my hotel room, but I've always wondered who got in there anyway. This segment is sponsored by DraftKings Sportsbook. He said that Martel's Carter former Paduca Tillman, Blue Tornado step out four star talent at safety. He's also dabbling with a little offense playing a little running back this spring. 00:40:22 Speaker 4: Is that because he's good at it or because they need someone else? 00:40:26 Speaker 5: Well, he's a good athlete. But the two portal additions Kentucky out at running back CJ. Baxter and Javontae Barnes, they've dealt with injuries throughout their career. Then you won't believe this, But the coaching staff they're not giving us like an injury report for all this, So they could be just a little wide in the load. We've seen highlights of Jason Patterson at running back. It might just be like, hey, you know, we need extra bodies. Martel's you're a great running back, You go buy C four. CJ. Baxter, you go buy C four let's get all the C fours in the running back room, and then they can all drink C four and then they can run even faster. 00:40:57 Speaker 4: I like the same nickname C four C four square. We should have. I found another hole in uh Bob and Jamestown story. Okay, you know it's on Bob's side. I'm probably Bob's biggest fan on the show for being honest, and I won't believe him. But we've now had someone called the restaurant and tell tell us he's a liar and now a friend of the program. John Wong on Twitter notes that the Neil Armstrong moon landing was at eleven PM at night. 00:41:20 Speaker 5: Well, is he talking about the lift off though?
