TGI – Episode 310 “Train of Fools”

Pod Meets World

We’re hopping in a stretch limo (and then a train) to recap a special (or not so special) New Year’s Eve episode of BMW! Rider holds nothing back when he shares his honest opinion on this stand alone farcical romp, while Danielle is still obsessing over a cringe encounter with a celebrity at a recent convention.

The gang shares some behind the scenes stories of how fun this episode was to film…even though it wasn’t filmed in front of a live audience. Also, is Mr. Feeny subway famous?

Plus, Danielle once again finds out one of her most used catchphrases IRL originated in a BMW episode. BUCK UP, BUCKERS - it’s a brand new Pod Meets World!!

00:00:18
Speaker 1: So we were all just in Raleigh, North Carolina for a convention, and I had one of the most embarrassing moments slash run ins of my entire life.

00:00:35
Speaker 2: Was it with a celebrity in the green room or with.

00:00:38
Speaker 3: A celebrity in the green room?

00:00:39
Speaker 2: Oh? Great? Okay, ready, yes, so excited? Get my popcorn? What happened? Let's let's say guess this was it with It wasn't with a wrestler, because I know you have good rapport with wrestlers.

00:00:50
Speaker 3: I have a great rapport with wrestlers.

00:00:52
Speaker 4: No. Was it a boy bander?

00:00:54
Speaker 2: Nope?

00:00:54
Speaker 3: Not a boy bander?

00:00:57
Speaker 5: God?

00:00:58
Speaker 2: So it had you been an actor? It wasn't somebody you didn't know who they were?

00:01:02
Speaker 1: No?

00:01:02
Speaker 3: No, I did know who they were.

00:01:04
Speaker 2: God.

00:01:04
Speaker 4: Had you dated this person?

00:01:06
Speaker 2: No?

00:01:07
Speaker 3: Definitely not?

00:01:08
Speaker 2: Okay, Okay? Did I date this person?

00:01:11
Speaker 3: Definitely?

00:01:11
Speaker 4: Not?

00:01:12
Speaker 2: Okay? Okay, Now I'm confused. You're eliminated.

00:01:18
Speaker 1: Richard Dreyfus, Oh okay, what happens.

00:01:22
Speaker 4: It's Richard Dreyfus, Richard Danielle and I dated for several weeks.

00:01:26
Speaker 2: What happened?

00:01:27
Speaker 3: Okay?

00:01:28
Speaker 2: So beautiful, beautiful cold Hi reference mister Hollands opus his son and he's singing beautiful. Okay, okay, okay.

00:01:39
Speaker 1: So I'm sitting at a table we're about to leave. I'm waiting on a notification that our van that takes us all to the airport is ready to leave. And a man comes up to me with a hat on and he squats down next to me and he goes, Hi, my name is So and SO, don't remember his name. I am Richard Dreyfus's agent.

00:02:00
Speaker 2: Oh, I was there for this. I saw you talking to him. Yeah, you were there for this. I was busy.

00:02:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, you were here for this whole moment, and you didn't know what happened. But when you hear me tell it, you're going to absolutely die so excited. So he comes up to me and he says, my daughter came to your table on Friday and said hi to you, and you were so nice and I just wanted to thank you because you really made her day. And I said, that's so sweet, thank you so much for even telling that to me. And obviously, anytime she if we're ever in another one of these together, just you know, have her come up to me and hang out with me in the green room and let's talk and whatever. And sure enough, he points that she's out in the green. She comes over, she starts talking to me again. We're having this great conversation and then she walks away, and I'm still talking to him. We're talking about different conventions and different events and just work stuff. And all of a sudden, Richard Dreyfus and I believe his wife or another an older woman is standing in front of me, and there's a younger person with them, a woman, and she's holding a camera and she has her arm out to Richard Dreyfus's agent and me, and we have just been at a convention where all we're doing so.

00:03:10
Speaker 2: You post for a photo that nobody wanted.

00:03:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, she's holding her arm out and I think she's asking me to go into this picture with her and Richard Dreyfus. So I stop my conversation with the agent. I jump up and go to stand next to her, the young woman who I thought was asking me for a picture. But she then gets out of it and I am now just standing next to Richard Dreyfus and his wife, and the woman then holds up the camera and she takes a picture of it. And right before she takes the picture, I feel Richard Dreyfus go huh, and the woman who I'm facing also goes mmmmm, And I realize, what am I doing right now? Nobody wants the picture her. And what I realized after the fact is that she was trying to get the agent to stop talking to me so that he could take a picture of her with Richard Dreyfus.

00:04:10
Speaker 3: And then when I jumped up, she.

00:04:12
Speaker 1: Was like, I don't I guess you're taking a picture with Richard dreyve it.

00:04:14
Speaker 2: It was.

00:04:16
Speaker 1: It was one of those moments where then by the way, it all happened so fast, like thankfully I didn't have to live in the awkwardness of any of it, because I didn't even realize what happened until after I had already walked away. But I have now thought of it multiple times since it happened and audibly.

00:04:30
Speaker 2: Gone, oh my god, Oh my god, oh my god, like I just of your life the rest of my life.

00:04:36
Speaker 1: This woman has a picture of me and probably Richard Dreyfus and Richard Dreyford.

00:04:40
Speaker 3: It is probably going what.

00:04:42
Speaker 2: On her camera, so it was never on your camera, So she's got a picture. By the way, I'm legendary. If you are out there, Please post this picture. Send it to pods World.

00:04:54
Speaker 3: Show is so confused and I kne keep me up. It will keep me up at night.

00:05:01
Speaker 2: So you can, Okay, the way the way you think about it really intensely three times and let it go. That's that's because anything more than three times when you're obsessing, So you think about allow yourself to like really think about it and count how many I'm thinking about it, and like go through the whole process. This maybe counts as one. This is an account you think about something three times and then you let it go, and you never think about it.

00:05:24
Speaker 5: Obsess about it forever, think about what you could have done, and don't ever see I.

00:05:29
Speaker 2: Think it's hysterical, but yeah, I mean it's so funny how the rules of like conventions and fan recognition and generally like you get into this pattern of like armout camera and becomes like it's over here, right and and and people you have to as the person you know behind the table or the celebrity that's being asked, you have to sort of just take control of the situation because it is awkward and fans don't always know they're like come up to our table and they're like, I'm here to meet you, and I guess I have to pay for a photo or it's always you know. And then there's other times they know exactly what they want and what they're there for and what to sign, and they want you to you know, and so you if there, if there's any awkwardness, you're supposed to kind of jump in and be the one who knows what's going on.

00:06:15
Speaker 1: I don't like anybody to feel uncomfortable. I don't want anyone to ever feel like they have to worry about asking me. So if I sense that somebody is even kind of wanting a photo, I'll be the one to suggest it. Did you want to take a photo? Get your phone out? Do you want to take a photo? Like I do? I? I?

00:06:31
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:06:31
Speaker 1: So anyway, Richard Dreyfus hates me and thinks I'm a psychopath. Anyway, if you have a photo of me and Richard Dreyfus and another woman where Richard Dreyfus looks like, what the f is this woman doing? Please send it to Pod Meets World Show at gmail dot com. I am number one Richard Dreyfus fan. Daniel Fishel. Welcome to Pod Meets World.

00:06:54

00:07:13
Speaker 2: And say hello. There are genuinely only a few tickets left, so don't miss your chance to join in on the festivities.

00:07:19
Speaker 5: And we have so many live shows now, including Philadelphia on September thirtieth at the met where we will be joined by Trina McGee, Tony Quinn, and Philly's own Matthew Lawrence.

00:07:30
Speaker 2: This is going to be an incredible night of fun and tickets are still available.

00:07:51
Speaker 1: Or a town nearby because remember Orlando is only two hours away. So today we are going to recap Season three, episode ten, Train of Fools. It originally aired December fifteenth, nineteen ninety five. The synopsis is, with no mode of transportation to get to a New Year's Eve party, the teens and Eric's supermodel date have no choice but to spend the holiday in an abandoned subway car. It was directed by Jeff McCracken. It was written by Susan Myers and Judy Tole, and it guest stars Angela Visser as supermodel Rebecca Alexa.

00:08:35
Speaker 2: Like me.

00:08:35
Speaker 1: She started her career on Harry and the Hendersons. She also appeared on a ton of shows including nine oh two, one oh Blossom, Baywatch, and Friends. She also appeared in a movie called Killer Tomatoes Eat France, which has a real Munchie strikes back possibility. If you ask me, then we have Wendy Pitts as Janine Brooke Feast as Valerie. She was Debbie and Nightmare on Elm Street four and Wendy la Plub on forty episodes of Just the Ten of Us. Wesley Jonathan is TJ and as shouted out by our Friends, Bruh Meat's World, known as a lead on What I Like About You with Amanda Bynes. He also played Sweetness in Roll Bounce and we will be having him on soon once the strike clears and members of SAG can come on and hang out with us, so you guys can look forward to that.

00:09:20
Speaker 2: And I did a short film together. We played partners and as cops. It was fun.

00:09:26
Speaker 3: How old were you, guys as cops?

00:09:28
Speaker 2: Twenty seven? Twenty?

00:09:31
Speaker 1: Okay?

00:09:31
Speaker 2: Yeah I was older?

00:09:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, some reason I pictured you at like seventeen and I was.

00:09:35
Speaker 5: Like Field cops, like Cops twenty one Jump Street, but even younger, like twenty in middle school.

00:09:41
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:09:41
Speaker 2: I think it might be the only time I've ever played a cop. It was a short film. It was a long short film, was like thirty minute. John Quertas isn't a good friend of mine directed. I had been on Castle and he was one of the actors on Castle, and he went and made his own short film and he brought me on as a cop. It was so fun.

00:09:56
Speaker 1: Nice Well also guest starring Don Maxie as Lid and Charisma Carpenter as caterer. She is well known for her time on Buffy the vampire Slayer and Angel with a small but memorable part here in this episode of Boy Meets World.

00:10:11
Speaker 2: Oh so memorable, so memorable. So a plus episode, right, guys, maybe maybe best of best of hate. Oh I think this is hands down the worst episode of Boy. Sorry to anybody who loved it. Oh my god, hands down the worst episode of Boy. I don't know that it's hands down the house, but I have so many positive like I have positive memories. I think people have positive memories about this episode because there are so many bits in it, like there are so many weird little things. But oh my god, no, I can't. I can't believe you guys are even giving it. I mean it's I didn't we have. There are episodes that I don't like for you know, I disagree with the way the characters are behaving or like problem, but this is just like I just think this is kind of a bad episode, like performance wise, story wise, Uh, it even kind of looks weird to me, Like there's no no, like nothing about this episode worked for me. I'm sorry, Like this is you know, I would say, like up before this, I was the one that we did where the where you didn't get your your driver's license. Like that Crazy Night episode. I put this in the same category. It's like sort of a farce episode that doesn't connect to the rest of the show at all. And are you kidding me with the Turner storyline? Like what is that?

00:11:28
Speaker 3: The Turner storyline is guests.

00:11:31
Speaker 2: Non Like what is happening?

00:11:33
Speaker 4: It is super bizarre. It is out of nowhere, and they are.

00:11:36
Speaker 5: Clearly trying to a use Alex somehow and be do an adult like storyline friends. You know exactly this is. This is the quintessential trying to make it more like Friends. Thing was this episode?

00:11:51
Speaker 4: But I didn't I'm sorry.

00:11:52
Speaker 2: I didn't hate it. I didn't.

00:11:54
Speaker 5: I just I didn't hate it. It wasn't my favorite episode. That's certainly true, but I'm and I could seriously be conflating how much fun we had.

00:12:02
Speaker 1: Filming it, because I also have very positive memories of filming it.

00:12:05
Speaker 5: And this was so much fun filming it that that to me bled into watching the show because I couldn't completely dissect myself from how much fun I had this week and how much I remember this week and all the fun I had with all the actors that were on the show and all the fun we had pretending to stop the train and them shaking the train and all that kind of stuff. I mean, I think that probably bled into my rewatch because I just had so much fun filming it that it was.

00:12:32
Speaker 4: And it was a brutal week too.

00:12:33
Speaker 5: I mean I remember at one point looking at at Jeff's shot list and it was like people were making fun of him, including himself.

00:12:40
Speaker 2: Where it was like there was like fIF shots on one day, shot in front of an audience.

00:12:45
Speaker 5: No, I don't think so either, which definitely changes the dynamic of the show.

00:12:48
Speaker 2: But yeah, I didn't hate it as much as you did.

00:12:51
Speaker 1: I didn't hate it as much as Writer didn't as much as Writer hated it. But I also don't like it as much as Will likes it. I am unwhere in between the two of them love it, but I need it strongly, don't like it fair enough. Let's jump into our recap. We start in the Matthew's kitchen, Sean in the leather jacket.

00:13:09
Speaker 2: Leather jacket, hold on to the nuts, like, I think this is where it's It's got to be mine from now on, right, I'm entering because it was yours like last week in Ravaughn yeah, right, but I feel like starting the episode wearing it. It's so big on me. It just looks better on you, which is a sad truth, but.

00:13:30
Speaker 5: No, it looks better. It looks best on Danny. Yeah, I mean it's it fits Danny perfectly. So yeah, that's it's like it's a man.

00:13:38
Speaker 2: I feel like now it's Sean's like this running into the kitchen, and it just felt like, okay, okay, maybe maybe now it's gonna stay with me.

00:13:45
Speaker 3: So well, let's see, we'll see. He runs into the Matthew's kitchen to tell Corey he got them a limousine for New Year's Corey is surprised to hear it. Limousine, he asks. Sean says, yeah, it's short for limo. His uncle Laslow has a stretch limo and isn't busy that night, so he's going to be their chauffeur. I love that he is a limo and is a chauffeur and isn't busy on New Year's Eve.

00:14:06
Speaker 4: Of course, well don't know, but he has a hers, right, and that's the whole point.

00:14:12
Speaker 1: That is the whole point. No one dies on New Year's Eve, Corey says. Topanga is going to love the limo and they can go to any party anytime.

00:14:20
Speaker 2: Mister, Remember how exciting limos were, like the idea of a limit. Yeah, and that's not the thing anymore, Like you don't people don't drive limos anymore. They do still for dances some yeah, I feel like.

00:14:31
Speaker 1: If they do, they do like SUVs that are yeah yeah with the jacuzzie in the back.

00:14:35
Speaker 4: Is that no? Really, yeah, there are those, but yikes.

00:14:39
Speaker 2: Or I just remember when in like the eighties, Like I mean we're talking like you know, nineteen eighty five through ninety five, if you had a limousine.

00:14:48
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, like it was just well think about it. When we went to the Aerosmith concert. We rented a limo?

00:14:54
Speaker 2: Did we?

00:14:55
Speaker 5: Oh?

00:14:55
Speaker 2: I don't remember that at all.

00:14:57
Speaker 3: I went in a limo. I think, yeah, yeah, we rented a limo.

00:15:00
Speaker 2: Was cool.

00:15:01
Speaker 3: It was so cool.

00:15:02
Speaker 2: Indy doesn't almost been sitting there forever. Andy has no idea what a limo is and doesn't care. Like I had to explain to him what a limousine was once and he was like, why would you want that? Because you don't see them, Like it's not as much of a thing.

00:15:14
Speaker 1: Doesn't have you ever wanted twelve of your best friends to go in one car?

00:15:18
Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, sleep on the seat. They have party buses like that's with like a stripper pole in the middle, Like, yeah, you'd get right.

00:15:26
Speaker 3: Who doesn't want to see their friends strip?

00:15:28
Speaker 2: So Corey.

00:15:30
Speaker 1: Mister Feene runs in, sporting a cool looking norm Core jacket, asking where Amy and Alan are? His cab for the airport is leaving and all he has or travelers checks? Remember travelers, of course they're I can't believe that was also a thing.

00:15:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, you could like him running in and talking about co D. He's like all the like he's running in. It's the nineties running, He's just running going. It's the nineties. My watch is broken. We have figured out exactly figured out how money could just be transferred easily.

00:16:00
Speaker 4: Cab man, Oh my gosh.

00:16:04
Speaker 1: So mister Feoene runs in, he's his cab for the airport is leaving and all he has their travelers checks. Sean loves the idea that Phoene is asking them for money. Phoene admits he's hit bottom and Sean says welcome. The cab is honking outside, and Phoene is worried about kissing his week in the Bahamas.

00:16:19
Speaker 3: Goodbye.

00:16:20
Speaker 1: Corey says Phoenie is in luck, and he starts to take out some money, but then Sean steps in and saying I got this, and he says.

00:16:25
Speaker 3: What twenty bucks get him to the airport.

00:16:27
Speaker 1: When Phoene says yes, Sean turns and asks Cory to so great, this is great.

00:16:33
Speaker 2: He did this so much because I'm so bad. Okay, look no, I think I think like me turning insaid, like me being excited, like the setup is perfect, yeahs over and I've got this. Yeah, but like I don't know, like nothing happens. Like then I just sort of fly onto twenty dollars bill and he grabs it and runs away. I was like, well, where's the Like what does Sean want? Like this is a chance for Sean to really get something out of Phoenie, but he does just he does.

00:17:00
Speaker 4: I mean, I think with the whole you know, if you thought ahead right.

00:17:04
Speaker 2: If I had performed that better, or if I had been, like I don't know, done a Feenie impression, like said something a little bit more Phoenie instead of it just felt like a missed opportunity. It felt like a nudge in the right direction. I was so excited for I was like, Oh, this is a great bit. And then I just realized, has there really been any good Sean Feenie combinations like ever? Yeah? Like, has Sean ever had a good scene with Phoenie? Oh wow, to have been there? Really isn't There's no dynamic here. And that's why this moment felt so weird to me, is that I was like, Oh, this feels like it should be a good moment, like Sean should have a relationship with Feenie. And then I realized he we have never had a scene. We never had a scene with just the two of us. It's always filtered by Corey and I'm always just the sort of, oh wait, wait when we when when Feenie and me played cards, when meat feeding, Yeah, that was he was like on my level and like being like a student. That was a fun dynamic. But other than that, I can it's on.

00:18:09
Speaker 5: It's like something for the Underboat Andy. It's like moments you have those, you have those stolen moments.

00:18:14
Speaker 2: But so this just felt weird to It felt like I don't know, I just I wanted to go go back and redo the performance badly. Because I like, I don't know what's going on. I just seem like low energy or like my voice is too low.

00:18:25
Speaker 1: Or somebody you did a little like no, sell you were you because you could have been if you had been a little bigger about whoa, whoa whoa Corey.

00:18:32
Speaker 2: Exactly really the moment like this, Yeah I got this and then and then and been really insecure about it. Exactly there, I just barrel. I just was not happy playing this moment. I was big enough for all of us in this. Sure, I thought you were.

00:18:45
Speaker 1: I thought you were pretty good will, but you had to be I mean truthfully again wait fun it was big, but also you only had one thing you Again, it was like for you, the stakes for you were.

00:18:57
Speaker 3: Just Rebecca alex as a supermodel.

00:18:59
Speaker 2: That's it.

00:19:00
Speaker 5: And that at least Eric redeems himself bisexually assaulting someone at the end.

00:19:04
Speaker 2: You're right, that's true. He learned his lessons.

00:19:08
Speaker 3: She throws, She throws the thing.

00:19:12
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm kiss him so Phoiney begrudgingly takes the twenty dollars and runs out to his cab. Sean yells after him, penne Ara Biata, I don't.

00:19:20
Speaker 2: Get this joke at all.

00:19:21
Speaker 4: This came out of nowhere, Like I.

00:19:23
Speaker 2: Remember this joke because I think I said it for years, Like is the like, but he's not going to Italy's.

00:19:31
Speaker 4: Is that what he thinks it is? Though he thinks he's going.

00:19:33
Speaker 1: To know he thinks he said something in Spanish? Really is what it is?

00:19:39
Speaker 2: Yeah? I thought, okay, yeah, I have no idea what the joke. I thought it was that I'm saying Italian because I'm like being like a mob boss or a mafia guy or I don't. I was like, I have no idea that makes sense.

00:19:50
Speaker 5: So Danielle, if he thinks he said something in Spanish because he's going to.

00:19:53
Speaker 1: The Bahamas, I know that doesn't really make any sense either. But I do think he thought it was a little bit of like a bon voyage, like he was saying a bomb voyage.

00:20:02
Speaker 3: But it was.

00:20:03
Speaker 2: But it should have been something related to the Bahamas, right, because they don't speak Spanish in the Bahamas.

00:20:07
Speaker 4: They do not know or bond or something with bon voyage.

00:20:10
Speaker 2: You know.

00:20:11
Speaker 3: But I do think it was right, So I don't know, you.

00:20:14
Speaker 2: Know, something like something like that makes more sense. I just didn't get it. That joke It also just doesn't make any sense because, as we learn in later episodes, Sean speaks multiple languages. Well, we've already established I speak French, and then I think I speak Italian in the Mob Boss episode.

00:20:28
Speaker 4: Yeah you're an idiots and Dutch later too.

00:20:30
Speaker 1: You didn't think the continuity was going to follow through our episodes did.

00:20:35
Speaker 2: But at least the joke should be set up and makes some sense. It makes no sense. Okay, you're right anyway.

00:20:41
Speaker 3: So for retel Sean.

00:20:43
Speaker 1: He just wished Phoene a spicy pasta, and Sean lies and says he knows, and from the other room we hear yelling and they run into the Matthews living room.

00:20:51
Speaker 3: Eric is yeng, I've come.

00:20:54
Speaker 4: To realize just a phone that we had just shuts off.

00:20:57
Speaker 2: When you close the thing, that's what you make. That's for sure that we have. Tennis did not do that. I afraid did not. It's bad. I even wrote in giant letter bad phone.

00:21:10
Speaker 5: Acting like don't turn it off again. Bad facting everywhere in this episode.

00:21:14
Speaker 1: So Eric is yelling, oh my god, and no, no, no way on the phone. He hangs up, throws Corey the phone and says that cha job god. Aby and Alan run in wondering if something is wrong, and Eric thanks his parents for giving birth to him.

00:21:27
Speaker 3: Also, the living room.

00:21:28
Speaker 2: Is decked out in Christmas stuff.

00:21:34
Speaker 4: Wow, it's the Christmas there, Christmas.

00:21:37
Speaker 1: There hitting Christmas hard. This must be the Christmas episode. Eric tells everyone he has a dream date on New Year's Eve with supermodel Rebecca. Alexa, Corey and Sean can't believe it. The Jeans girl with the and the Eric says yes, and he is loving life and.

00:21:51
Speaker 2: Then mentioned Jason, mention Jason. Don't see jo but mention Jason.

00:21:57
Speaker 3: What is it Jason's second cousin or Ja Jason.

00:22:00
Speaker 4: Jason's cousins, Jason's second cousins?

00:22:02
Speaker 2: Like, oh, they mentioned we mentioned Jason.

00:22:04
Speaker 4: Who apparently we're not hanging out on New Year's together.

00:22:07
Speaker 3: No, definitely not.

00:22:08
Speaker 2: But I'm going to be.

00:22:09
Speaker 4: Going out with a supermodel because they often come to date high school boys. I don't know if you're aware of that, but a lot of supermodels are.

00:22:18
Speaker 2: No, it's a train high school Philada. Yes, supermodels, that's a big thing taken on dates, but not consider trophies. No, don't, don't for one second.

00:22:32
Speaker 3: No, she wants to know that this could really lead.

00:22:34
Speaker 2: Really lead to something real.

00:22:36
Speaker 5: She knows that seventeen year old boy could lead to some real thing.

00:22:42
Speaker 2: Yes, she's hoping for That's why she's so offended.

00:22:44
Speaker 3: That's why she's offended.

00:22:45
Speaker 4: It's an odd story.

00:22:46
Speaker 2: Come on, this is the central plot of this story. I don't know, because otherwise there's no conflict for the next ten minutes. By the way, we're going to sit in this living room and watch people talk of out their clothing for ten more minutes. But that's what's going to happen, and they just can't get rid. And then everybody's gonna talk about what they're doing that night and how they look, and then what they think about how the other person is looking at It's the weirdest episode. There's no there's no story. It is nothing happening.

00:23:15
Speaker 5: But I get to pratt fall twice, which I'd never done before on the show. So this is the start of Eric period that folly was.

00:23:24
Speaker 1: So Corey asks Eric how he scammed this, and Eric says she's Jason's second cousin and in from out of town. Eric explains that when the clock strikes midnight, he will be kissing those famous blonde lips of supermodel Rebecca Alexa in front of all of Philly. In happiness. He asks his parents to catch him in a bit of a trust fall and they let him fall on his face.

00:23:45
Speaker 4: It was fine, So that was We're having fun doing stuff like that. Okay, yeah, made it all worthwhile.

00:23:51
Speaker 1: Yes, so, by the way, Jason Marsden, so it's his second she is his second cousin.

00:23:56
Speaker 5: Not even again, This is all logical if you just think about it.

00:24:01
Speaker 3: And then we're back in the Matthews living room. It's continuing.

00:24:04
Speaker 1: Alan is rushing Amy downstairs to leave for New Year's so they can get it over with. Amy says she's still shaving, and Alan tells her to finish in the car.

00:24:12
Speaker 3: Eric.

00:24:13
Speaker 5: Sorry, first of all, it's so adult that you know the idea of going out for New Year's. It's like, let's just get it over with. We wait, I'm not even a parent and just being married. It's like, all right, let's go, come on, let's go get let's.

00:24:28
Speaker 3: We're going to pretend that this is something we like to do. Get it over.

00:24:31
Speaker 2: New Year's just sucks. Can we all just say that it's the worst and you are, but I just remember as a kid feeling exactly what Corey and Eric talking about in this episode is like all this pressure over one night and like you always And the worst part about is like when I finally got old enough to just start making my own plans for New Year's. People will commit to plans on New Year's with you. Have you ever noticed it? Because they're all waiting for something better to come along or so it's the worst night of the year.

00:24:57
Speaker 5: It's just staying with your friends to travel on New Year's. So, like, we'd like to celebrate New Year somewhere else, which.

00:25:03
Speaker 1: Is like that Jensen and I celebrated once in Thailand. It was really we enjoyed it. We're still asleep by nine.

00:25:08
Speaker 3: It was great. We just don't do it.

00:25:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, we did twenty twenty Amsterdam. We're doing one this year.

00:25:12
Speaker 2: Like it's it's fun, Like that's that's fun. Yeah.

00:25:16
Speaker 1: So Eric comes downstairs wearing all black like a mime who shopped its structure, and he asks Alan if he looks fat. Alan tells him it's just a date with a girl who happens to be a model, and Eric says fatty fat fat and walks off again.

00:25:29
Speaker 4: Weird thing it is. I didn't understand that either.

00:25:32
Speaker 2: First would Eric about it? Yes, why would he ever think that he's fat? You're like the skinniest person in the world.

00:25:38
Speaker 5: You know what's funny is I've put it was like I'd put on some weight by this point to compare no, no, no, compared to how creepy was in season two.

00:25:46
Speaker 4: And I wonder if somebody saw that and they're, like, he should.

00:25:49
Speaker 2: Start questioning whether he's putting on weight. Where it's likely Michael had a thing with you and your weight because he.

00:25:54
Speaker 4: Get he does in season one and then does it later in the in the thing too.

00:25:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was in the fair strange, so weird. It was a weird things that you would never do nowadays, Like, no, you would never want to present somebody like Eric being insecure about it. Wait, like that was very strange.

00:26:11
Speaker 4: I also don't understand how ain't for going just again Lodge Amy.

00:26:14
Speaker 3: Has starny hoes on, and she was shaving her legs.

00:26:16
Speaker 5: She went from shaving her legs to being dressed in a gown in like thirty seconds.

00:26:22
Speaker 3: That's what I mean.

00:26:23
Speaker 1: No, she says, shaving her legs she does, so she's not Yeah, she says, I'm still shaving my legs.

00:26:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, she said, I'm still shaving.

00:26:33
Speaker 1: But let me tell you something. There was a I remember it back in the day because I remember thinking, why would anyone do that? There was a like trope, I guess or women did this really where you didn't shave your legs in the bath or the shower.

00:26:48
Speaker 3: So will she did? She had like an electric razor.

00:26:51
Speaker 1: She already had her dress on and she was going over her legs with the electric razor. But my point is she comes down within five seconds with panty hose on. So because I thought if she's going to have bare legs, I buy it. She she's fully dressed. She grabs the electric razer and shaves her legs real quick. With the electric razer.

00:27:08
Speaker 2: You're supposed to shave in the shower, right, you can.

00:27:10
Speaker 1: But if you have an electric razor, you can do it on dry skin out of it. There's a bunch of different ways to do it. But I did think the same thing. But we're you know, we're not trying really wrong with this episode.

00:27:25
Speaker 2: Supermodel dating Eric. That's totally normal for me.

00:27:29
Speaker 5: When I was a junior high school, no friends, but I was dating a super model you were dating.

00:27:33
Speaker 2: I believe that absolutely so.

00:27:34
Speaker 1: Amy comes down in a long black dress, really cute, looks like a little tucks, like a sexy tux. Alan is impressed, and Amy thinks Eric looks handsome too. He asks, too handsome. Corey also makes his way downstairs to wait outside for Sean. Amy catches him and reminisces about when they were younger and they would stay home to watch the ball drop. Corey asks his dad, she's not going to cry now, is she? I think he looks amish and what he did.

00:27:58
Speaker 4: He looks a little an interesting dreams. Yeah, kind of set up. Yeah, yeah, I don't.

00:28:04
Speaker 1: I don't really love Corey's outfit, if I'm being honest. Eric says those old New Years weren't fun. He was just stuck at home trying to pull raised nuts out of Corey's nose while Alan and Amy were out partying, and Corey reminds him that without those shrimp forks, they might still be up there, all right.

00:28:18
Speaker 2: No conflict, No conflict, Yes, that's happened in this entire.

00:28:22
Speaker 3: Nothing other than Amy run making them run a little late.

00:28:25
Speaker 2: We're all just sitting around talking about past things and ye, what is happening? This is the weirdest episode. Look this whole I was like, what so besides Feene needing twenty dollars, there's literally been no confliction.

00:28:39
Speaker 1: By the way, it was also not a conflict because you had twenty dollars, yep, so you just gave it to her and.

00:28:45
Speaker 2: Sean lined up a limo, like until we lose the limo, nothing bad has happened to any of our characters. It's like a full they're setting.

00:28:52
Speaker 5: Up the farce that's gonna that is to come, you know, and that's the door opening and closing, and they're in the living room and it's like.

00:28:58
Speaker 2: Except it's just be so stuck in say you be so stupid? How can you?

00:29:01
Speaker 5: And then it's like why you got to take the subway? And then the heart comes to the subway?

00:29:04
Speaker 2: Don't tell me those many the amount of like it couldn't possibly be this thing, and then that thing happens is literally the next line. There's three of them. It's so bad. Opt lazy, lazy, lazy.

00:29:18
Speaker 1: Amy warns the kids to be careful because New Year's Eve brings out all the crazies, and right on the first one, Sean runs in saying, come on, everybody, let's see let's get crazy.

00:29:29
Speaker 2: I mean, just have me come in and be crazy. But no, you I actually say, that's funny.

00:29:35
Speaker 5: It's like it's so blatantly ridiculously obviously it brings out the crazies.

00:29:38
Speaker 4: Let's get crazy.

00:29:39
Speaker 2: I mean it's like, come on. I mean, look, man, if I played it better, I maybe could have sold it. But I am horrible in this episode.

00:29:45
Speaker 5: And none of us are going to be winning an Emmy for this episode if we're honest. I mean, none of us were nailing it. But it was you know, it was just a farcet romp craziness.

00:29:55
Speaker 1: Everyone looks outside at the limo, which is actually a hearse, and the horn lets out a whimsic old.

00:30:00
Speaker 2: Death March tune. It looks Cory's that did make me laugh too.

00:30:05
Speaker 1: The death horn march is pretty funny, or the death March horn is pretty funny. So Corey says it looks cool, and Sean tells him to wait until he sees what's in the back seat, which.

00:30:18
Speaker 2: We hear about weird shots to be on the outside of the kind of stacked y did we actually shoot it? We must have actually been shooting it where on the side of the set, right, like from the direction of the Yeah.

00:30:33
Speaker 5: Well, because we had no audience, we had time to set up all these shots where it was just like all right, let's bring the camera around.

00:30:38
Speaker 2: We'll do this one can't. I just can't imagine. I mean it makes you just don't have the budget. But like this is the second time, well not the second, I'm sure we've done more, but like the other time was when Amy got her mini van, Like to not show the reverse shot of the thing that you're talking about, I know, like, oh my god, it's ridiculous. It's we were all talking about looking this thing. We're hearing this thing. Show us the thing. Oh it's ounny. It doesn't bother me at all.

00:31:05
Speaker 4: No, it's such a sick thing.

00:31:06
Speaker 2: It's like, hey, what's over there? It's crazy. No, it's just like I guess if if we were watching a play, it would be the same thing, right, they'd be talking about the giant thing and it's never.

00:31:15
Speaker 1: Gonna be as funny to see it as it is to hear your characters talking about it. And now you and your imagination the same way when you read a book, get to imagine what it must be.

00:31:25
Speaker 2: I it doesn't. I like to think about us, the limitation of the forum, like that's all I'm sitting there thinking. I'm like, whoa, we just don't have the time, the money, or the inclination to make this good.

00:31:35
Speaker 4: I think it's great.

00:31:37
Speaker 3: I think it's great too. It doesn't bother me.

00:31:39
Speaker 4: No.

00:31:40
Speaker 1: Alan tells Eric to move his rusty car out of the driveway, and Eric says, Lucille might not be the most reliable car, but it gets him where he needs to go and there's nothing they could do to pull him away from her.

00:31:50
Speaker 5: I'm sorry to do this, and I'm honestly asking because I don't I know it's been explained now and I'm trying to figure out the layout of the house. Yeah, so we're looking out the front door of the Matthews is at the Curse and my.

00:32:06
Speaker 2: Stream and driveway.

00:32:09
Speaker 1: No, they say, get the rusty car out of our driveway, but.

00:32:13
Speaker 5: Feoene exits towards the other way to the cab right.

00:32:17
Speaker 3: For his for his cab.

00:32:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, it's just endlessly shifting because it does stage left.

00:32:27
Speaker 2: And stage right, camera left and camera ray. It's just what's off stage is whatever we need that moment Matthew's house is that there's different levels of street.

00:32:40
Speaker 4: And it's just street move it is silo awesome.

00:32:45
Speaker 2: Okay, it does.

00:32:46
Speaker 1: It is true that this being the driveway being out front does lend for it being a backyard, because the front of your house it is wait, yeah, just being difficult.

00:32:57
Speaker 4: No again, then what's the yeah.

00:33:00
Speaker 3: I know, I know, and then what I know? I'm not sure.

00:33:02
Speaker 2: It's okay, it is what it needs to be.

00:33:04
Speaker 1: Offers to let Eric drive their car, and he quickly just lucile. Eric takes the keys and hands Amy the players that they're going to need to start his car.

00:33:13
Speaker 2: Good gag, like just handing overs.

00:33:19
Speaker 1: Why did we there has been no conflict, as we've discussed up until this point, Well why did we need to circumvent already no conflict? Why not just let Eric take his car? And then that's why it breaks down?

00:33:33
Speaker 2: That's what I mean. This is a nothing seene. This is like is the weirdest episode for like until the subway breaks down, Like the whole thing is just get to them to the subway and have it. But you why not make that an interesting journey?

00:33:47
Speaker 4: I think that's the irony is that he's saying, I'm giving you the good car, and it's the good car that breaks down.

00:33:56
Speaker 2: Right.

00:33:56
Speaker 5: I think that's the point of the whole thing is it's like, had I just driven the car.

00:34:01
Speaker 3: It would have been fine.

00:34:02
Speaker 5: It would have been fine. But no, she wants him safe. She wants to make sure he's gone, So you're gonna do.

00:34:09
Speaker 2: It's all these there's all these weird that's just to make Corey culpable for you to be angry. It's weird. But wait, why did we Why couldn't Corey like just come up with another series of conflicts that are actually more engaging that makes sense based on character to get us to the situation we're stuck in a subway car, which is obviously what they wanted. This feels like this was written in like twenty minutes. It was like, but just we have this. If I have this, beaten the pizza guys in the delivery baby, and they'll be twins, and it's like, joke on, joke on, jo get it in there.

00:34:39
Speaker 1: And if you guys remember that we interviewed him the pizza that we did.

00:34:42
Speaker 4: Yes, he was on our he.

00:34:44
Speaker 3: Was part of our background episode.

00:34:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it is. It's just it's a series of ridiculous events that get us to this thing.

00:34:49
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:34:50
Speaker 1: I wish those were ridiculous series of events had been funnier.

00:34:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't disagree some of it.

00:34:56
Speaker 1: Just have us take the subway to wherever we're going and get us the subway, Like all right, guys, we're taking the subway to this party, and then the subway breaks down, and now you've got all your characters and where you need him.

00:35:07
Speaker 4: I have a very stupid question which I don't know the answer to, and maybe you guys don't either.

00:35:12
Speaker 2: Is there a subway in Philadelphia? I had to look it up. Honestly. I was in Philadelphia last week, yeah, and my wife was like, well, can we just take the subway to wherever we were going? And I was like, is there a subway? That was like, we did an episode of Boys that plays a subway. There must be a subway. But then when I was watching the episode last night, I was like, actually.

00:35:36
Speaker 1: Is there?

00:35:36
Speaker 2: And I looked it up and there is somewhat of a subway, but it's only like three lines.

00:35:40
Speaker 3: It's like, okay, limited stops.

00:35:43
Speaker 2: They clearly are trying to make it new York. This feels like the New York Subway. Obviously.

00:35:49
Speaker 4: Yes.

00:35:49
Speaker 2: Interesting.

00:36:01
Speaker 3: So then we're in Turner's apartment.

00:36:02
Speaker 1: Mister Turner and mister Williams are both excited to stay home for New Year's Eve. No suits, no ties, no spending two hundred dollars on a woman you hardly know. Jonathan says he was real close to ringing in the New Year with Janine the Clinger, and this is where it starts to have some real friends vibes. Yes, it's like the shift to twenty thirty somethings feels the most developed that it's ever been in this scene.

00:36:23
Speaker 2: Absolutely, and you're saying this passes as development. Ah, No, it's just what they're trying.

00:36:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, they're trying to throw us into.

00:36:31
Speaker 1: Like you know, these two the thirty somethings who who feel young and viby, and you're like, wait what, But yeah, I mean it.

00:36:39
Speaker 2: I have no conflict between the two of them, Like if.

00:36:41
Speaker 3: They know they're excited, right, they're not.

00:36:44
Speaker 2: But it makes no sense because then the conflict is women, and it's like, okay, annoying women keep showing up and then like later on, Eli betrays everything he says in this scene. Yeah, so like if this scene had been Eli bad pitch, Eli just got dumped and we really wishes he had women around right now, and Jonathan Turner is cheering him up saying, no, we don't need girls, right or vices.

00:37:12
Speaker 4: To make it even more, Alex say that at the end, Eli says that at the end where he says he likes me, you had no, he goes, I lied, of course I want to be around women, right.

00:37:20
Speaker 5: I mean he does say that where it's like, you know, it's like the guy going no, it doesn't hurt at all that she broke.

00:37:25
Speaker 2: Up with me. It's like, I lied. I'm dead inside.

00:37:26
Speaker 5: I mean, that's what I think he's saying, is that he's like, no, I lied, of course I want to be around women.

00:37:30
Speaker 1: So I think it is interesting to not set anything up with any conflict and then create conflict backwards by then saying, well, I was lying.

00:37:38
Speaker 2: That's what I mean. This whole it's it's a very bizarrely written.

00:37:41
Speaker 4: It is seriously and it's it's a shame because I love watching Alex and Tony together too.

00:37:48
Speaker 5: I think they're great together, and it's just the storyline made no sense and was weird, but the two of them together on some other type of adult show.

00:37:56
Speaker 4: I would watch that all day. Yeah, so it was, it was.

00:37:59
Speaker 2: It was a strange kind of yeah weird.

00:38:03
Speaker 1: Eli says Jonathan should have stuck with Valerie, but two weeks with her was enough. She had too much baggage. On their first date, she had to bring a skycaby. Jonathan mentions running into Eli's x Rochelle, writer's sister, Rochelle.

00:38:16
Speaker 2: Maybe I will consult with Rochelle.

00:38:23
Speaker 3: Yes if the death chair death.

00:38:26
Speaker 1: Chair Rochelle uh And says she didn't look so good, but he instantly admits he's lying to make Eli feel better.

00:38:32
Speaker 3: Eli says he knew.

00:38:33
Speaker 1: That the guys are getting ready to sit down with their beers for a night off. When the doorbell rings, they think it's the pizza, but it's new character alert, the aforementioned clinger, Janine. She says she's not staying, but she saw his light on and wanted to check in on him.

00:38:50
Speaker 2: So I was light on.

00:38:51
Speaker 3: Where from the window downstairs? On New Year's Eve?

00:38:56
Speaker 2: Okay, just dressed up.

00:38:58
Speaker 4: I think it's an excuse to go see Jonathan, right, do you think?

00:39:01
Speaker 1: Janine tells Jonathan he looks thin, then offers to make him a lasagna. Jonathan wants to stop her, but he like says, whoa, whoa, whoa, It'sanna. Jonathan says, that's nice of Jennie. But they have pizza coming what And the doorbell rings again. He opens the door and it's new character alert again. Valerie standing at the door with pizza. This is the too much baggage girl. She rushes in to celebrate, despite Turner not liking any of this. Then Valerie and Janine notice each other and squeal with excitement. They're apparently old pals.

00:39:36
Speaker 4: This building also has horrible security.

00:39:40
Speaker 2: Have just no security.

00:39:41
Speaker 5: If everybody can just come to the door, you know, it's like you don't even have to buzz you up from downstairs.

00:39:45
Speaker 2: You just have the door just there.

00:39:46
Speaker 3: You go, get in the elevator, come right up.

00:39:49
Speaker 5: Also, does Sean still, as far as we know, Sean still lives with mister Turner?

00:39:54
Speaker 2: Correct, right, yeah.

00:39:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, Sean has but Sean has plans so.

00:39:59
Speaker 4: Right, But he's still comes home in the world there, right, He's still that's that's still where he lives.

00:40:05
Speaker 2: That's a good point. I never even thought about that.

00:40:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's still your house.

00:40:09
Speaker 3: That's right, But so what's your point he shouldn't have people over for New Years?

00:40:12
Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, it's I'm just for my own edification.

00:40:15
Speaker 2: It doesn't feel it doesn't feel like there's no.

00:40:20
Speaker 4: Yes, Seawan's out, we can God, we get to be together again.

00:40:23
Speaker 2: There was no kind of That's all I meant.

00:40:25
Speaker 1: Is it just it would have been a little yeah.

00:40:30
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:40:31
Speaker 5: You also could have put Sewan in with just the two of them and had had a storyline with the two older guys and you because you didn't have a date, and that would have made a much more interesting b story of kind of the three guys together and then the rest of us on the subway, as opposed to you just running around on the subway.

00:40:50
Speaker 1: Right, couples, couples on. Yeah, I don't want to Yeah, that could have worked.

00:40:53
Speaker 4: Well.

00:40:53
Speaker 3: Then we're in the Matthews living room.

00:40:55
Speaker 1: Corey and Sean storm back into the house, not sure how they're going to make it to the party now without Uncle Law's hears, Sean says, it's not his fault. When you see a corpse is breathing, you have to take it back. It's the right thing to do. Man, that's funny. Funny joke, that's funny. And then Topega comes in and tells the boys, Gee, guys, it's New Year's Eve.

00:41:17
Speaker 2: You are so annoying in this episode.

00:41:20
Speaker 1: I remember when you did this episode, going, but why is Topanga this person right now? Why Topanga's never been the eternal I will always be optimist. I have a bunch of water. Gee, guys, buck up, buckers.

00:41:37
Speaker 2: And then you have your like breakdown where you say, like you there's always and it's like, is she always the way?

00:41:43
Speaker 5: No?

00:41:43
Speaker 2: I feel like she's more like it foretold this one night, yes, because the reality is Topeka is the person who always stands up for what she believes in, doesn't doesn't sugarcoat stuff. She's brave and like smart and you know what I mean. Like, so for her to be like this, like let's stay positive, Corey, Like no, that's by the way.

00:42:01
Speaker 1: It easily could have been and it would have been one line to add into it that because of all the pressure of New Year's Eve, she hasn't liked this plan from the beginning.

00:42:11
Speaker 3: She doesn't.

00:42:12
Speaker 1: She didn't want to go into hers and she didn't want to go on this big party and she didn't want to do any of this, but you know, I wanted to go with the flow, and I wanted to save this.

00:42:20
Speaker 3: Night because all the pressure. But there's none of that.

00:42:22
Speaker 1: It's just like they just wrote a whole episode that Tapega is a character we never see her, we've never seen her like before, and we see it again.

00:42:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, you know's weird how I remembered more than anything in this episode.

00:42:35
Speaker 2: And I don't know why. What you're wearing.

00:42:39
Speaker 3: Oh, I do too. This was a very important outfit.

00:42:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that Asian kind of outfit that you're wearing orange Asian And.

00:42:47
Speaker 1: That's the one that when we talked to Sarah Markowitz, she that's like a personal thing, like from her personal collection, and she has brought it onto other shows. She used it on swim Peaks. That's okay because I remember it too. I remember it so well.

00:43:04
Speaker 2: Why do I remember what?

00:43:05
Speaker 1: It was?

00:43:06
Speaker 3: Very comfortable.

00:43:07
Speaker 2: I have a weird thought. Do you guys think this feels like this feels like a pilot or like a play or something that has nothing to do with any of our established characters. Yeah, you're right, but there is literally this whole situation and all of the little bits. Almost none of them have anything to do with established characters or established relationships, Like there's the Cory Eric dynamic, but.

00:43:32
Speaker 4: It feels kind of works though not works, but that's that's normal.

00:43:36
Speaker 5: Eric's about girls, Corey's, you know, about going out and being with Tapanga like that at least was kind.

00:43:41
Speaker 2: Of in the zone of what but it doesn't.

00:43:45
Speaker 5: Sean running around and kind of being the wacky character kind of in the zone to Panga completely out of character, Eli, we don't know his character, Tony completely out of character, Feene kind of completely out of character.

00:43:59
Speaker 4: Yeah, there there was some weirdness.

00:44:01
Speaker 2: It's a complete one off, you know. I think it's yeah, yeah, I feel like it was almost its own script or its own story. And then they were like, how can we like work this into a boy meets World? Like yeah, imagine you're being like somebody had written like a script that was about being stuck on a New Year's on a subway and all the crazy things that could happen like that as a pitch sounds kind of cool, like this this is a you wish yeah yeah or something, and there was making a Boy World episode.

00:44:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, no, you're right.

00:44:28
Speaker 1: So Corey says they're going to make it the best New Year's Eve ever, and then turns to Sean and says, if we were dead, because then we'd have a ride. Then Eric walks into the house with supermodel Rebecca Alexa and he's apologizing to her for the car breaking down.

00:44:42
Speaker 2: She was really nice.

00:44:43
Speaker 5: All I remember about her is that she was really really nice and very fun to work with, very easy to work with.

00:44:49
Speaker 1: I remember her almost as much as I remember the outfit I wore, Like I just remember her like her and she was so sweet and so nice, and then I remember my dress that's basic, and that this week was very fun.

00:45:02
Speaker 5: I don't you know, bouncing and there were like poles in the in the set and they were like shake the poles in the set.

00:45:10
Speaker 2: So it was like I remember the being on the subway set, but I don't remembering anything about the actual filmmat or like being I don't remember.

00:45:17
Speaker 3: No, do you guys remember me cutting my leg open during the run?

00:45:20
Speaker 5: No? You told this is where you told us about this, but I don't remember it, and you like were like legit bleeding hair.

00:45:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, I have a scar.

00:45:26
Speaker 1: I have a scar on my leg from it, and I have just like blood down my shin and I didn't realize you know, I was trying.

00:45:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, you put your blood, sweat and tears into this episode. This episode bucker exactly.

00:45:40
Speaker 1: Rebecca Alexa says things happen, It's okay, and Eric is shocked she's not mad, calling her a super duper model.

00:45:48
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:45:48
Speaker 1: Corey and Shawn are starstruck by Rebecca Alexa. They both say hi, and Corey at first introduces to Panga as a girl from school, and then after Tapega nudges him, she says she. He says, she's my girlfriend and I love her very much, so don't get any ideas. Sean asks if supermodels have powers and if she can read what he's thinking, and she admits yes, and then Sean says, sorry, that's.

00:46:10
Speaker 4: A great bit. That's a great bit. No, it is, it's you read mind.

00:46:14
Speaker 2: Yes, Oh sorry, that's cute.

00:46:17
Speaker 1: And then Eric comes over celebrating that he got the last cab in Philly. Corey wants to share the cab, but Eric says he's seeing a big Harry No. Corey then complains he's stranded for the first New Year's he can leave the house for Rebecca Alexa tells Corey she knows how he feels because her older sister never took her anywhere and she never forgave her, and then somewhat insource old Eric lets Corey share the cab with them. Eric tells Corey he better not say anything to him or his date, and Corey says he won't do anything stupid. A golf lip the Matthews living room continued. Eric rushes back in the house, asking Corey how we could do.

00:46:54
Speaker 5: Something They don't crazy. They didn't it made sense why he sends. They tried to explain why he sends the cab away, but it doesn't make any sense at all.

00:47:05
Speaker 1: Eric reveals that Corey sent away the last cab in Philly, and Corey said there was just something wrong with the driver.

00:47:10
Speaker 3: His license on the windshield wasn't even his picture.

00:47:13
Speaker 1: Eric says, if stupidity was in the Olympics, you'd win a Nobel Prize.

00:47:16
Speaker 5: I remember that line, that's the one that Yeah, that's that's one that people say to me sometimes, Yeah.

00:47:21
Speaker 3: That's funny.

00:47:21
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:47:22
Speaker 3: And then Corey thinks the driver was an imposter and going to take them somewhere and cut out their livers, which Sean says, no, biggie, I've already had mine now.

00:47:31
Speaker 2: And I'm losing it. You can tell them, Yeah, the camera has to cut away from me. You guys are looking at me because I am laughing.

00:47:37
Speaker 5: Yep.

00:47:39
Speaker 2: I you know, I really wish this thing about Corey being this like neurotic mess, yeah, who keeps ruining every like I wish that was more of the thing. But like this is this is such an extreme example, like you literally sent away a cab because you didn't you were scared of the cab driver. It kind of it comes out of nowhere. But and I wish it had been establish more throughout this episode. But also I like Corey being you know you will you become much more of that guy.

00:48:06
Speaker 1: It also would have been a funny way of talking about the previous New Year's Eve when they had been stuck home, if every time they tried to do something fun, even staying home, Corey had ruined it because he got yes, awesome.

00:48:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, nobody's driving any of this. There's no one character that's driving. Everything that's happening is the problem. And if he was more neurotic, you right, it's supposed to be, but it's not really. I mean that's the problem is it's like, so it's sometimes it's Corey, sometimes it's Eric, sometimes it's you know, it's yeah, it's very odd.

00:48:37
Speaker 2: That's the problem. Yeah.

00:48:38
Speaker 1: Also all these things just keep happening to them instead of like them being active participants in it for yeah.

00:48:45
Speaker 2: Point yeah, right, And that's the thing. Like, and I understand like a farce is a series of crazy things, but yeah, it always has to be character based. It has to come from you know. And this is the first character based conflict, which is Corey, you know, and it's you know, we're.

00:49:00
Speaker 3: Just falls a little flat. Yeah, and it falls a little flat.

00:49:03
Speaker 2: Because it's not really it doesn't make a lot of sense.

00:49:05
Speaker 1: Eric apologizes to Rebecca Alexa for the stupidity in this family, and he says he's just a carrier, which I also thought was funny me too.

00:49:13
Speaker 3: Topenga, who was there, says, hey, light bulb. She has an idea to.

00:49:20
Speaker 2: Have their own party at the house, but.

00:49:23
Speaker 3: Eric cuts her off and tells Corey to make it stop.

00:49:26
Speaker 1: Eric tells Rebecca Alexa one way or another, we're going to be seen at that party.

00:49:30
Speaker 3: She asks, how what are we going to do?

00:49:32
Speaker 2: Take the subway at this point. She doesn't notice at this point that he wants to be seen. I mean he's literally said like in the next scene, she gets all upset because he's clearly just wants to be kissing her in front of people. But he says it there, I know, he says, how we're going to do it.

00:49:50
Speaker 3: We're seen in that party, well, optical flip.

00:49:52
Speaker 2: We're on the subway.

00:49:55
Speaker 1: Eric, Corey, Sean Tapega, and Rebecca Alexa are all on the subway. Rebecca alexis she wasn't serious about the subway, but Eric says.

00:50:02
Speaker 3: It's fun and says, I think I can.

00:50:04
Speaker 2: I think I can.

00:50:05
Speaker 3: I think I can.

00:50:06
Speaker 1: Corey says it's nice to see Eric in a better mood, and Eric says through his teeth, just die, which I also thought was funny too. Tapeka says there is something so exciting about doing things by the seat of your pants, and then Eric points to a guy on the train and says, yeah, like that guy, and then everyone grimaces. This is a moment writer where I agree with you, I would have liked to see what that guy wants. That's a moment where I was like, what what is that guy doing by the seat of his pants. I couldn't really quite picture it, so I wanted to see it. Sehn tells Corey he feels like he's being watched, and Corey agrees, and then they turn around to see a PSA poster on the subway and it's.

00:50:43
Speaker 3: A mister Phoenie that says, I want you to stay in school.

00:50:47
Speaker 2: What is happening now, ster Phoenie is subway famous and isn't this a thing in girls world? This is the Girlmy's world had feene as a poster, right, and then he winks at Corey at the end of the episode.

00:50:59
Speaker 3: And everyone thought he did, which because it's so weird.

00:51:03
Speaker 2: Like why is Phoenie on posters in multiple cities?

00:51:10
Speaker 1: I know, I don't know, but yeah, when we did the Girl Meets World pilot, mister Feenie is on a poster in the New York Subway, a big one, and Corey turns and looks at him, and Feenie like comes to life in the posters, and I think even says something to him, like proud of you, Pheenie, and Corey's, you know, like I'm proud of you, Corey, and Corey's like says something back to Feenie or winks back to him, and everyone then thought, oh my god, are they saying Phoenie is dead? Because it must have been a figment of his imagination, because in the universe are we? And why is Phoenie really on a poster? So here's the first hint of that that Phoene is on star.

00:51:53
Speaker 2: He's many crazy.

00:52:00
Speaker 1: So the subway comes to a stop and Sean is rushing to get people off to get to the parties to Penga says they have plenty of time before midnight, and Corey says Eric will be kissing Rebecca Alexa in front of all of Philly, just like he wanted. Eric pretends he has no idea what Corey is talking about, and it offended. Rebecca Alexa asks if Eric thinks of her as just a trophy. Corey tries to hide the truth.

00:52:21
Speaker 2: But she was on the path to a real relationship with this Eric guy.

00:52:25
Speaker 4: She thought when she got this high school kid, she's a supermodel. He's in high school. It works, It totally works.

00:52:34
Speaker 2: It is so easily fixed if she had been not a supermodel.

00:52:38
Speaker 1: But just like.

00:52:40
Speaker 2: Or like no like, you can make her something that she is, she is well known for something else, but she just also happens to be beautiful. And then the fact that he's treating her like she's a supermodel and superficially attracted to her is an insult. But instead she's set up as a supermodel. Why would she ever be insulted that a guy is interested in her because of her looks and her popularity. Like it's so guys, I know, I agree with this story, Like.

00:53:18
Speaker 1: This one.

00:53:18
Speaker 2: It's so fun, you know because like we I know, I'm always this guy, right and I know, but like when we do, like like the wrestling episode in the school, I know that I'm like it's ridiculous, but it's character based ridiculousness. It's like it's even though it's Robert Goulay and all this, it is still based in real Corey issues, Joey the rat, like they're all people that we but this episode makes no It's like all this extra stuff brought in to then just be extra stuff and it's like it doesn't.

00:53:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I also will get to it, but I also love that it doesn't just end. Also, when she gets off the subway, it's like we still have to believe that that's the absolute motivating factor for Eric. Where is he gonna find her? How does he even think there's any chance he's gonna hop off the subway? And now twelve minutes later, nowhere she went.

00:54:09
Speaker 4: It. I like he tries to send a little kid after Yes.

00:54:12
Speaker 3: Exactly, like a little pigeon was pretty fun.

00:54:15
Speaker 2: That is pretty.

00:54:17
Speaker 1: Eric pretends like he has Eric pretends like he has no idea what Corey is talking about, and an offended Rebecca.

00:54:23
Speaker 2: Alexa, Yeah, I already said that part. So offended. Yes, I'm mad.

00:54:27
Speaker 1: Rebecca Alexa says she just remembered she has to go home and runs off before the train. Just before it starts moving again, Eric is yelling for the now moving train to stop. Corey tries to talk him down, saying he can catch up with her and everything will be dandy. But then the lights turn off and people are screaming. The subway has come to a screeching halt. The train conductor tries to explain what is happening, but there's too much static over the PA Topeka asks what he said, and Eric says, Corey broke the train and there is a very committed subway like homeless guy sitting next to Rid her here doing some really good work. We do some yeah yeah, yeah, really good background, and then we're on the subway continuing.

00:55:06
Speaker 3: Eric is pacing the subway saying we're trapped.

00:55:08
Speaker 2: This is a nice and that was the end of the seat right there. Yeah, Corey broke there, right, So we tried to connect.

00:55:14
Speaker 3: It to a character. Yeah, we tried to make it.

00:55:16
Speaker 2: Quese absolutely nothing to do with Corey.

00:55:18
Speaker 1: No, so no, and the hers also had nothing to do with Corey. So it's not even like all of the things that led to the only wanted to.

00:55:25
Speaker 2: Send away the cab, right, But then he had blabbed, so that's why she And then he said something Eric said in front of her in the scene before.

00:55:33
Speaker 3: So those are two things, right, Oh my god.

00:55:35
Speaker 1: So, and we finally see this is where we finally see one of our favorite background actors just in our mao in the pizza hat and the pizza delivery uniform. Corey tells Tapanga that no one is going to bother them if they just act tough. He says out loud, boy, I love New Year's Eve. I'd sure hate to have to kill somebody though, which I do also think is a funny.

00:55:54
Speaker 2: It was great.

00:55:54
Speaker 3: I think that's a funny thing for a character like a Corey to have to say out loud, Yeah, I love that.

00:56:01
Speaker 1: The guy next to Corey gives him a dirty look, and Corey says, with my flu virus, that's a totally different joke.

00:56:06
Speaker 3: In twenty twenty three than nineteen ninety three, no.

00:56:09
Speaker 1: Kidding, Eric is trying to pull open the subway doors but gets his finger stuck. The conductor comes back on the PA but it still is in functioning. Somewhere in the static he says something about resulting in death or dismemberment. Corey asks Eric what he said, and Eric explains he said for Corey to go out and lick the third rail.

00:56:24
Speaker 2: Tapanga tells the guys to buck up buckers.

00:56:28
Speaker 3: What is going on with this?

00:56:31
Speaker 2: Just made me? It was like, what does she just swear? Like it's such a weird like you don't say buckers, you say buckeroos, right, No one says, isn't a thing, No, buckers, isn't a thing. That isn't a thing. You buck up buckeroo.

00:56:44
Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know, I don't I don't I've never heard anybody say any of it. She says, it's probably just an electrical problem and look on the bright side, the city is saving on electricity. Corey asks what's wrong with Tapanga tonight? And if she swallowed Sandy Duncan.

00:57:00
Speaker 2: Which okay made me laugh so absurd. I was like, what is Sandy Duncan like the eternal? Why is Sandy Duncan?

00:57:07
Speaker 5: Because Sandy Duncan is always like this, She's like the mom on Hogan's was it Hogan's friend of Hogan's family and all that kind of stuff.

00:57:13
Speaker 4: So she was always like Sandy Duncan was always like the happy.

00:57:16
Speaker 1: Okay, so she was she was like an internal optimist, yes, okay, okay, all right, so Topanga weird reference though. Yeah.

00:57:24
Speaker 3: Topega stands up to Corey and.

00:57:25
Speaker 1: Says she's sick of being the positive raw Wa girl all the time and using words like buckers.

00:57:30
Speaker 3: Then says, I have demons to Panga. I know what a rush?

00:57:35
Speaker 2: Topega? Sit down? What are you doing? No one asked you to No one likes you. In fact, every step of the way we've asked you not to be before, so it does.

00:57:48
Speaker 1: No one We are asked actually saying can you please be your normal self, what are you doing?

00:57:52
Speaker 2: You weird to take this situation for what it really is as opposed to weirdo what don't get it? And then TJ.

00:58:00
Speaker 1: Wesley Johnson walks up to Eric and Corey and guesses they don't spend much time on the subway. Corey responds with not on subways, that's nice. Corey asks him what he thinks the problem is, and he says, a loose wire and air blower in the Ciniston and this.

00:58:13
Speaker 4: Is what he says, I remember that line specifically.

00:58:16
Speaker 3: But he doesn't know how long it'll take to get it fixed.

00:58:18
Speaker 1: On a holiday, Sean walks back in after checking out all the subways cars. He's got scoop car, five parochial girls who ditched their non car two missus Janelli just went into labor. Cory asks Sean what he's eating and he says it's a crab cake. There caterers stuck in the next car. Eric smacks the crab cake out of Sean's hand and asks him if they can get the subway fixed soon. Sean says, why would he ask when they've got food, babes and birth. The cycle of life is complete?

00:58:44
Speaker 2: Love it?

00:58:46
Speaker 4: I do you think.

00:58:47
Speaker 2: I do think that's cute. But there is one character who's like, guys speak the best of it.

00:58:51
Speaker 3: This is our it's also great, we.

00:58:53
Speaker 2: Have everything, but also this is what Tapanga was doing. So what immediately, what would happen is that Tapango would be like cool, Sean, let's go.

00:59:01
Speaker 1: Yeah. Sean didn't say buck up Buckers, so if she wasn't happy, you need to say buck up Buckers.

00:59:06
Speaker 4: Danielle does some dancing in this episode to get to that.

00:59:10
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, with no sound. I remember there being no music playing and you just have to dance all the way across the subway. That's how I get from one place to another.

00:59:22
Speaker 2: Ye.

00:59:25
Speaker 1: Eric says, not without his supermodel and he goes to the emergency box, but the captain tells him it's for emergencies only. Eric says it is an emergency because he's missing his date with Rebecca Alexa, and the captain says the jeans girl. When Eric says yes, the captain says, life's tough. I thought he was going to say helmet which they should have, which they should, but he doesn't, and then he asks his co captain Ernie about a crab cake and then back in Turner's apartment, which you definitely did not forget about.

01:00:07
Speaker 2: We needed to know what's gonna happen with.

01:00:10
Speaker 5: Get back to those now said their name three times that I still don't remember.

01:00:15
Speaker 4: What it is.

01:00:16
Speaker 2: One's the Clinger, right and the other one is gottage Bag.

01:00:23
Speaker 1: So they are both on the couch drinking champagne while talking about how they both went out with Jonathan and the date was the exact same. Jonathan, commiserating with Eli nearby, asks if he's so horrible, why are they both in his apartment?

01:00:34
Speaker 2: But Eli, what like when they talk about what happened when they're dates with Jonathan, they're so generic, Like this is an opportunity to say, like, here's something specific that Jonathan says or does that is so unique, that is such a like dude thing to say to try.

01:00:51
Speaker 1: But instead it's like the most because they want Jonathan to be likable again, you have to keep all your characters likable. All they're saying about him is that he goes out on dates with women too, and then eventually tells you he's not wantship that guy. It's like, okay, yeah, but by the way, it does answer the question that he asks if I'm so bad, why.

01:01:21
Speaker 3: Are you here? Because honestly, you're not that bad. They just trying to get you to want to be in a commitment. They want to change you.

01:01:28
Speaker 1: They want to change that part about you they really like you actually, But Eli says, please.

01:01:34
Speaker 2: It's just it's so cheap to to make him likable. They have to make every girl that walks into the apartment incredibly unlikable.

01:01:42
Speaker 4: Crazy.

01:01:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's something wrong with them. It has to be like a trio of crazy, which one's crazier than the next.

01:01:50
Speaker 5: Show.

01:01:51
Speaker 2: It makes sense that he wanted to be alone with his dude on the last.

01:01:56
Speaker 1: The last woman showing up crying and they only went out one. She definitely seems crazy. But are they trying to paint these two as crazy or yes?

01:02:05
Speaker 2: They Janine shows up and she's like, I'm gonna make you lasagna.

01:02:09
Speaker 3: Life, I'm inviting myself in and.

01:02:12
Speaker 2: Shows up she's got bottles of alcohol, and yeah, it's a little much clear that they are. I mean, okay, yeah, all right. Well.

01:02:19
Speaker 1: Jonathan asks Eli if he wants to help him with the plates, but Eli uses his own line back at him, saying he's not sure if he's ready for such a big commitment. Jonathan is trying to get rid of the girls, but Eli says they're not going anywhere, so they might as well sit back and enjoy it.

01:02:31
Speaker 3: Eli says there's something so nice.

01:02:33
Speaker 1: About being around women, but Jonathan says the reason why they planned this night is so they didn't have to be around women. Eli says, I lied, So there we got our conflict there. He wants to be around women, he does not. And then we're back on the subway. Eric is talking to a little boy named Timmy. He tells the kid he will lower him down on the tracks and then he's going to run like the wind to go find Rebecca Alexa and give her a note. Timmy's mom walks over, disgusted and grabs her son. Sean runs in to say missus j Ellie is about to give birth and asks if anyone knows about deliveries. Sean sees the pizza hat delivery guy and recruits him to come help.

01:03:07
Speaker 2: Oh, I'm just going back. I do love the Timmy. It's the problem with the moment is that the kid doesn't have a line. It's not such a clear moment when you just you pay the extra money to give that kid the funniest line ever. In response to Eric, like, you know, I don't know what. Give me a good line, will, like, you know, get away from a strange man, or you know something the jeans girl, she's way out of your league. Yes, something like that. Yeah that's great. Yeah, yeah, you just need because you can tell the kid is told not to say anything, right, and it's just a bummer. You're like, oh, come on, give the kid a line.

01:03:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Jacob Michael, Jacob's kid.

01:03:46
Speaker 2: Right. I couldn't tell that wasn't that wasn't it.

01:03:48
Speaker 3: I couldn't tell either.

01:03:49
Speaker 2: I don't think I don't think it was.

01:03:50
Speaker 1: Okay, Tabanga tells Corey he should talk to Eric, who looks really upset. Corey approaches, but Eric quickly cuts him off to say, Corey is the reason for all of this is he tells about all of his goofs and then says, that's foiling my divine plan. And guys, I say, you foiled my divine plan all the time, and I've never known.

01:04:10
Speaker 3: Where I got it.

01:04:11
Speaker 1: Really say that, I say it all the time, and somewhere in the back of my mind I knew it was from some something, some TV movie thing that I had heard before. But I have said innumerable times, oh, you foiled my divine plan, like I have, I have said that.

01:04:31
Speaker 2: So many answer funny. I always say the phrase respite from the fray, which is something Poene said I think in first season. I'm not sure where, but like, yeah, it's in my head. It's so funny.

01:04:42
Speaker 4: I say buck up buckers all the time, like constantly. My wife's like when you stop that, I'm like, it's.

01:04:50
Speaker 1: The best line for Boy Meets World ever. God, that's so funny. So yeah, foiling my divine plan. Eric says all he wanted was a big party with a lot of people having a good time. Corey asks Eric if he thinks this is how he wanted to spend his night, adding only idiots would have a good time on a subway and ride on cube.

01:05:07
Speaker 2: Oh hey, that's number three.

01:05:10
Speaker 3: Sean walks back into the common.

01:05:14
Speaker 2: New Year's.

01:05:17
Speaker 1: He says he's having a great time and the pizza delivery guy will have the baby delivered in thirty minutes. This gives him enough time to check on the parochial girls. He told them his uncle was the pope, and like that. He leaves the subway car again, Rider and John. They actually look you guys look like you're having a good time. You're not obviously miserable, But I like that one of the characters is actually thoroughly enjoyed, making the.

01:05:40
Speaker 4: Best of it and just gonna throw a party. There's a I can throw it. That's like everyone has a friend like that that can just throw a party wherever you are.

01:05:48
Speaker 3: Yep, yeah, absolutely, Yeah that's me. That's what everyone says about me.

01:05:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, I've noticed that too. You are.

01:05:53
Speaker 3: I am a party. Just take me.

01:05:56
Speaker 2: Anywhere and I can turn it into a lively bar.

01:06:00
Speaker 4: Yeah. Being in an airport with you is like being a rio.

01:06:03
Speaker 1: Amazing exactly, It's unbelievable. Who de fish fun de fishy fun is what everybody calls me? Okay, Corey says he's going to make the best of the night, and Eric can sulk and feel sorry for himself if he wants. Eric says he will use all his brain power to will this train to move. When it doesn't work, he says, ah fooie, I need a bigger brain, and then he walks off to find Timmy the Wicked.

01:06:28
Speaker 2: Your little like martial arts man. So funny, So will because you know that's none of the script now the strains when they were probably imagining like this or something more predictable.

01:06:41
Speaker 3: But you do this like so good, very funny. And then we're back in Turner's apartment.

01:06:47
Speaker 1: Eli is on the couch with his arms around Jeanine and Valerie, agreeing with them that he loves theellman. Louise the ladies think ELI is perfect movie for women, right, get.

01:06:58
Speaker 2: It, that's the joke. There are women in it. Stars. Yeah.

01:07:05
Speaker 4: Like.

01:07:08
Speaker 1: Jonathan starts to walk out, and he says he's heading to the roof. Eli tells him remember Tuck and Roll. Jonathan tells Eli he made a New Year's resolution. I hate your guts. He opens the door to walk out, and he sees Lynn, another ex you should remember from the opening, now standing behind his door crying. She says she needs closure with their relationship. Jonathan is confused about their relationship because they only went out once, and she responds with how are you being so hostile? Women are insane.

01:07:38
Speaker 2: Nuts, Just let's put on them, Louise, ladies.

01:07:43
Speaker 1: Lynn says she just needs to be with someone who will listen to her. Then Jonathan pushes her in the house to be with Eli and the other girls, and he.

01:07:50
Speaker 5: Takes off another another script, by the way, I think we talked about this before, written by women. I know women seem crazy in the scripts that are written by women, which seem nice, strange.

01:08:00
Speaker 1: On the subway, Corey Topanga and all the people on the subway are dancing and having a pretty cool party.

01:08:05
Speaker 2: Corey dancing. I just want it like I didn't do it. I didn't do it, but I do think we should. We could have done a deep dive like to Pega's bedroom with every one of the extras in this oh yeah dance sequence. There are there is a very old woman, yes, yes, and I kept waiting for her to be a character that gets a reference from it. But this is I mean, this is a small, very frail, elderly woman who yes, I was you saw her, right, Well, of course there is, there's there are and then of course I was like, why is there a woman in a French made outfit? Turns out so ult later, right, so there's two and then there there was just there's so much going on, it's like a costume party. New Year's suddenly is like Halloween or a twenties year anniversary in the future of what the kids are going to be.

01:09:01
Speaker 4: That right, maybe this whole thing never happened and it's a dream.

01:09:06
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, it happened.

01:09:10
Speaker 1: Cory says, if people want a quiet place to chat, there's plenty of room by the sad guy, and Corey points to Eric.

01:09:16
Speaker 3: We are all dancing to music.

01:09:17
Speaker 1: That we could not hear in the filming of it only very light the yes, because they obviously want to hear everybody talking, so there's slow music playing.

01:09:28
Speaker 2: But when we think we're getting music from is there a boombox to be found?

01:09:32
Speaker 1: Yes, the old lady has the speakers that the guy was talking over. They're playing music now, I guess. TJJ yeah. TJ praises Corey for putting together the Underground Party, and there's a joke weird word.

01:09:48
Speaker 2: You ever know what part is? It's been around since like the seventies, hasn't it.

01:09:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, it makes no sense. Also, it's a joke used twice back to beat hit it harder. I mean, they probably could have cut that and left that on the cutting room floor. But Topanga kisses Cory before midnight because they're passing out garlic balls and she wants to get a fresh kiss in Eric comes over town.

01:10:13
Speaker 2: That she's made references to, like in that last episode, she's like, I'm all, Jeremy, I don't want to and then like, you know, I don't want to think about garlic breath and germs before watching you guys kiss.

01:10:24
Speaker 4: No.

01:10:24
Speaker 1: Also, I you're in a relationship with somebody you are in love with, do you really like, well, once you eat that garlic ball, we're just kissings over, kissings over for the night.

01:10:34
Speaker 4: So garlic obviously, I know you know what's the problem, an you just deal with it.

01:10:40
Speaker 2: You guys.

01:10:41
Speaker 1: So one of the things that I remember that I took with me that are like just burned into my head that Michael Jacobs had a thing about was when we all moved into the college dorms. There would be times where it was like Topanga was supposed to come out from her room or the bathroom and it'd be early in the morning, and there'd be conversation about like, what are you doing up so early?

01:10:58
Speaker 3: And I walked out once and you and he was like, now stop, do not yawn.

01:11:02
Speaker 1: We all assume you haven't brushed your teeth yet, And it just makes everybody think of bad morning breath really, and he was like, never yawn on camera. It just makes people think of bad bread.

01:11:15
Speaker 4: God, he had some weird ones.

01:11:18
Speaker 3: What so it stuck with me.

01:11:20
Speaker 2: I've never yon.

01:11:26
Speaker 4: I assume you were going.

01:11:27
Speaker 5: To say something, but it was like, as you were coming out of the bathroom in the morning, it was like you were taking your morning deuce.

01:11:32
Speaker 4: I assume that's what he was going to be talking about.

01:11:34
Speaker 3: No, it was like, don't yawn on camera. It makes everyone think of bad breath.

01:11:38
Speaker 1: So Michael must have also had a thing about kissing and breath and garlic.

01:11:44
Speaker 3: I don't know.

01:11:45
Speaker 1: So anyway, very strange. Eric comes over to ask for a garlic ball, knowing it will ruin his breath. He says he's over Rebecca Alexa because he dumped her. He says he can do better than her, and then he admits he doesn't even believe himself. Corey tells Eric everyone always makes a big deal out of New Year's but it never turns out the way you plan. They reminisce on New Year's past where they had fun as little kids. The year they popped popcorn and the radiator and let the babysitter curl his hair and then there's a very cute line read from Ben where he earnestly says, when is.

01:12:22
Speaker 2: That going away?

01:12:24
Speaker 3: I thought was very cute little.

01:12:25
Speaker 5: I liked the brother stuff. I always liked the little soft scenes between Ben and I. It didn't happen often, but I liked him when they did.

01:12:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I liked it, And I think they also had an opportunity where there could have been, like I said when they mentioned it at the beginning, it could have been well Corey was always ruining those, you know, especially, it would have been great.

01:12:41
Speaker 2: It would have been great. I mean, actually something that hasn't happened in a while. It is like Eric trying to get away from Corey for New Year's Right. But if the situation had been that Eric had to take Corey by New Year's with him and he didn't want to, it's like one story. Yeah, it would have been at least character based conflict. So that has everything unhappened, it would be like, oh, this is yet again a situation where Corey's ruining in my New Year's Right. Instead it's just you just you're just angry with him.

01:13:07
Speaker 1: And I don't know how cute it would have been for them to still have even after he's now ruined this adult, his first adult New Year's with you to still reminisce about.

01:13:15
Speaker 3: It wasn't all bad. Here are some of the fun things.

01:13:17
Speaker 2: You know, it could have been.

01:13:18
Speaker 3: It could have been a little bit more meaningful, but it was it.

01:13:22
Speaker 2: Morgan a little bit too, Like there's just no reference to Yeah, right, here's she who's watching Morgan tonight. Yah, let's do a let's do a retroactive episode of what happens to Morgan. Her parents are out gone. What is Morgan doing? She's at a friend's house. Maybe that's what? Sure? Yeah, Erk didn't have one throwaway line.

01:13:42
Speaker 3: I know nothing.

01:13:43
Speaker 1: Eric says, all the lousy New Years were actually all pretty good, just like tonight, he thinks.

01:13:47
Speaker 3: Cory TJ counts down to the New year five.

01:13:50
Speaker 1: Four three two one, and right after it strikes midnight, Sean walks in saying good news everyone twins. To Pega asks if missus Janelli had twins, and Shawn's says no, but I do, and then he introduces Linda and her sister.

01:14:06
Speaker 5: More. That's a great line. I remember that line from the show itself, like I remember filming that line and I'm just laughing at that.

01:14:18
Speaker 2: I think it's.

01:14:20
Speaker 4: I think it's great.

01:14:24
Speaker 1: Eric wishes Corey a happy New Year. Then Corey goes over to kiss the panga again. A caterer played by Charisma Carpenter then comes up to Eric and asks keish and he says, don't mind if I do and kisses her because.

01:14:38
Speaker 2: Kiss guys. That's then I'll admit that. Okay.

01:14:44
Speaker 4: So as actors, we obviously talked about it and planned out how we're going to kiss and do all that stuff.

01:14:48
Speaker 2: But don't grab and kiss people. That's very bad.

01:14:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, but he does offer. You do you think she thought that she wanted to kiss him?

01:14:57
Speaker 2: Right?

01:14:58
Speaker 4: I don't think he did.

01:15:00
Speaker 2: No, he just took advantage of the joke. He makes a joke. Yeah. I don't think he thinks she said kiss. I think he just she's into it.

01:15:10
Speaker 3: She throws the thing and she she ends up.

01:15:13
Speaker 2: Well that's true.

01:15:15
Speaker 3: Obviously she can't consent. She's in sorceal.

01:15:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, so let's not do that. People don't harp on it, just don't do it.

01:15:24
Speaker 3: Don't do it.

01:15:25
Speaker 1: And then we're in the Matthews living room, a very tan Feeney who is also dressed like the man who built Jurassic Park.

01:15:31
Speaker 2: Isn't that from the.

01:15:34
Speaker 4: It doesn't look like he should also be covered in the delus spit exactly.

01:15:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, he runs into the house. Is that character's name John Hammond played by the Great Richard Attenborough?

01:15:51
Speaker 1: Yes, he runs into the Matthew's house again and asks Alan and Amy for money for his cab. All he has is Bahamian cash and airline Pino.

01:16:00
Speaker 2: Pani I know.

01:16:02
Speaker 1: Alan says he only has a dollar and Phoene tells him to dig deeper man. Alan asks why he doesn't have the driver take him to a bank machine, and Phoene says he doesn't want to spend another minute with the driver because he looks nothing like his picture. So we get a call back to Corey bad joke, Corey call back.

01:16:17
Speaker 2: To a bad joke. It's called me to a bad joke. But this thing took me back in my mind to the Danger Boy episode where there's a little bit of like Corey Feene similarity like this. It's like old anxious man energy. Yeah, and I like that. I think that that's so cute and I wish that they answer recognized, like if Corey had said that's what I said in this scene, exactly if there was a sense of like, mister Feenie gets me and like that that was a payoff of some sort of correct, you know, thing that had been established. But instead it's just yeah.

01:16:49
Speaker 1: It's like the characters don't notice it, just that it's there for the audience. But it's funnier if the characters noticed it.

01:16:55
Speaker 2: I think it's so cute when Corey and Feoene because they don't want to be like each other, but it's like each other exactly. I know, I love it.

01:17:02
Speaker 3: I love that too.

01:17:03
Speaker 1: So then the cab driver honks outside, and Feenie, you know, the Foenie from the subway, adds. He yells, I'll be right there. Vaj Nich, Corey and Sean come downstairs and ask Feenie how his trip was. Then Amy suggests maybe they can help him with some money a devil, as Sean says, oh, a little short again, George Phoene says he would rather risk his liver and he walks back out the door.

01:17:30
Speaker 2: Silence. There was a fun episode. Shoot, it was.

01:17:34
Speaker 4: It was a really really fun episode.

01:17:36
Speaker 2: Shoot. I think it's a very you know, I think like like a lot of television, but especially a lot of Boy Meets World. It's people remember the strange ones, do you know what I mean? And then there's so many one off jokes in this episode that people have very fond memories of this episode, I imagine because they're like, well, that was the one with the twins or the one with the thing or you know, there's like a there's like a million little side bits crammed into one. Yes, but for me, like as a story.

01:18:07
Speaker 3: Yes, no, like and I like stuff. All that is all they care about for exactly.

01:18:14
Speaker 2: Because you're stuck watching television. You're it's like right, you know, and you already like Boy Meets World, so you're willing to so either you're binge watching a show and your this is just one that's flying by. You don't take it seriously and you just love it so totally but totally. It's like it throws a lot of character out there. But I didn't hate it either.

01:18:32
Speaker 5: I thought it was just I thought it was a fun, ridiculous And again it's also just wrapped up in because we had so much fun filming it, and I remember bouncing with you guy, like we would joke around.

01:18:40
Speaker 2: Is it even big?

01:18:40
Speaker 5: Yell cut, we'd still be doing this and we'd pretend to go like opposite directions when the train stopped.

01:18:45
Speaker 2: I mean it was like, just maybe we should explain that for a little bit. Because I had a direct I had to direct the episodes on Girl Meets Ward. The final episode of Girl Met Toward that all took place on a subway, and it was really difficult because you have to, Yeah, they do what's called a poor man's process, which is where they have to shake. It's whenever you're shooting a car or a vehicle, you have to pretend that it's moving.

01:19:05
Speaker 1: It's like resting on very heavy sticks, and then there are men grabbing each of those sticks to make the subway look like it's moving.

01:19:13
Speaker 5: Yeah.

01:19:13
Speaker 2: Right, And then you also have to create a light effect to create this sense of motion, So you have to have people walking lights behind the windows to make them, you know, they make the look like things are passing. It's very time intensive and it has to be like planned out with like doors opening and platforms, and it's like a whole nightmare of shooting. And I remember it being very difficult.

01:19:35
Speaker 4: Oh, I was said.

01:19:36
Speaker 5: This was one of the episodes where Jeff McCracken. I think was getting a little, you know, a little snippy with us because we.

01:19:42
Speaker 4: Were screwing around.

01:19:43
Speaker 5: And it's like, it's one thing to screw around when you're sitting in the classroom scene or you're in the hallway scene. It's another when you're on this giant set that they just built. Yep, that's tons of extras. Yeah, was this This took for It took a long time to shoot. But that's why I remember it so much, just because it is fun.

01:19:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and it it is fun in my memory.

01:20:00
Speaker 1: I mean, I was actually surprised when I watched it that I was like, huh, I'm surprised. I feel so fondly about this episode internally that now watching it, I'm like, hmmm, wasn't It wasn't a great output, but I had so much fun doing it.

01:20:14
Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't think I don't think it was Yeah, I agree, I agree.

01:20:18
Speaker 1: I'm feeling a little more like Will and hearing writer talk about it, how that is the way people who watch the show feel about it. They remember the one liners, they remember the the overall feeling Boy Meets World gives them, and that this episode has a lot of the fun maybe some of their favorite lines in it, so they go, I love that episode. But then they watch the episode and kind of break it down, and then they just want to go, well's shut up.

01:20:42
Speaker 2: I like it anyway. Don't take it so seriously. Don't take it so seriously.

01:20:45
Speaker 3: I want to enjoy it anyway.

01:20:47
Speaker 2: And you know what you should do. Shit, go ahead, don't listen to me.

01:20:51
Speaker 3: Don't listen.

01:20:51
Speaker 1: Don't let us and our logical story brains ruin it for you.

01:20:56
Speaker 3: If you love it, love it, I.

01:20:57
Speaker 2: Love it probably then I mean, that's how much of a Debbie Downer I am? True, miss is kind of dumb.

01:21:04
Speaker 3: That's true. Writer was probably missing I.

01:21:05
Speaker 2: Was always I was really missing my my white rose girlfriend exactly.

01:21:11
Speaker 4: Really hard subway scene was going to take that back from the pain for field.

01:21:16
Speaker 3: You were missing your Rebecca, Alexa.
