Call eight five, nine, two, seven to one joke or visit Comedy Up Broadway dot com Bay. 00:00:30 Speaker 2: This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:00:34 Speaker 3: Now here's Matt Jones. 00:00:36 Speaker 4: Welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Wednesday, February the twenty six I'm Matt Jones here on a beautiful but little slightly chilly day in Lexington, Kentucky. We are at the Kasbarn Grill. It is Wings day, Dollar Wings all day. Uh. Mario is not await because he was out partying last night. But he's here and we're getting ready Cats and the Sooners the first game of Kentucky against Oklahoma in Norman. I don't know ever, is this an ever game? 00:01:06 Speaker 5: Have we ever been played. 00:01:06 Speaker 4: In Norman before. 00:01:07 Speaker 6: I can't imagine we have all. 00:01:09 Speaker 5: The game they played in Norman. 00:01:11 Speaker 4: I don't think so, but we're doing it tonight nine o'clock, the only midweek nine PM game of the SEC schedule. You can give shallon clocks Puppy Shop on line eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. A vision auto glass text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four in this distion sponsored by the T. J. Smith Office you called Tj'll make them pay Ryan Kentucky and Oklahoma. The big news of the morning. Lamont Butler and Jackson Robinson both listed as probable uh to play, which is they go from out they don't even hit questionable go directly to probable, and tonight we will see, well, maybe both of them, maybe neither of them. I kind of think I did a little scuttling. 00:01:54 Speaker 5: Okay, all right, you playing? 00:01:56 Speaker 4: Yeah, Robinson, they likely to play. But feel pretty good about Butler point. 00:02:03 Speaker 5: You know, we thought all along the plan was sit them for a couple of weeks, get them ready so they'd be ready to go in March. Well, now I guess they feel like they'd a least get them on the court a little bit, especially if Jackson plays just a little bit. That's nothing but positive. Before March I sort. 00:02:16 Speaker 4: Of read this and drew in two ways. One, I think they feel better, well obviously feel better about these two guys where they are, and also want them to get some action before the tournament. I also think maybe they think this is a big game tonight, like I think there is a hey, you know, this might be one we need to win if we want to get to buy in the SEC tournament, if we want to keep a top four seed in the NCAA tournament, this is what we may need to win, and we. 00:02:44 Speaker 6: Need our full group definitely. I mean, of course you want to beat Auburn and Missouri. You don't want has surrendered anyone, but for your tournament standing, really all you need to do is beat Oklahoma and LSU at RUP next week. So I think they see this significance in this game where they are in the standings and how important it is to win this win, and you know, maybe they play a few minutes. I'm of the belief, just me guessing that it's kind of gonna be like, let's see how it's going, and if we need them we'll put them out there and if we're playing all right, we'll happily let them rest a little longer. 00:03:12 Speaker 4: And it's I mean, it's dangerous because what if one of them gets hurt again? People will question the decision. But I mean you can't just have them debut in the SEC tournament, right like, they got to get their some legs under them. This is you know, if you look at the schedule, this is the most swingy game of them, right, Like, you're not supposed to beat Auburn. You're probably not even supposed to win at Missouri, although I think we could. You're supposed to beat LSU, So this is kind of the most swingy game left where it could go either way. Did a spread come out two and a half? Kentuk Tucky just about four and a half. So I think that's so. I think you put those dudes in and then now you say we're gonna go win this game in normally they're not sold out. I think it's like two tickets for twenty five dollars, So I don't think we're gonna get the crazy atmosphere we get sometimes in these other road games. So I do think it's a it's a winnable game. 00:04:04 Speaker 5: It's a big game for both teams really, So that's why I can see why Butler and Robinson just as a competitor they want to play. You know, they've been sitting over there that they want to get back. It's their last season of college basketball. They love to get in there. So ease them in a little bit. But you're right, you know, last time Butler reinjured, it just dove on the FLUFFI the loose. But you can't. 00:04:22 Speaker 4: I mean, that don't happen either way. That happened in practice Oklahoma. You know, they were undefeated in the non conference, including winning the game, winning the classic down in Bahamas where they beat Louisville West Virginia. I want to say they beat somebody else? Could they won like three difficult games down there. I watched them a little bit during that, and I've watched a couple of conference games. They are feast or famine. Their guards either go off or miss every shot. And we'll just assume they're going to do go off because that's what seems to happen against us. But they are feast or famine. They can put a ton of points up, or they can score fifty. 00:04:58 Speaker 6: Yes, they had they be Michigan Arizona. They had some big win. Michigan was the other way. Yeah, their guard fears. He's an NBA freshman. He kind of went through little lull in SEC play, but he was awesome in their last game, had like twenty something and eleven assists. So he's turning it on at the right time. Even Pope raved about him. You don't usually hear him talking about another player by name, but he had quite a bit to say about him on the Coaches Show on Monday. So he's the player that he need stop. 00:05:23 Speaker 4: Yeah. They he was projected for a little how to be a top fifteen pick. He did regress when they got to the SEC, but he played well last week. Mississippi State, by the way, has lost two straight games by a combined sixty seven points, which is a huge, huge drop. 00:05:39 Speaker 5: That was big for us. 00:05:40 Speaker 4: Yeah, big, right, So let's talk. You know, Look, we could break down the game, but that's what the Scientific pregame show tonight. At six thirty. It was occurring to me, Shannon that we're playing Oklahoma, Okay, and in Kentucky we've not really done anything Oklahoma. Have we played when's the last time we played a school from Oklahoma in basketball or football. 00:06:04 Speaker 3: The other I mean, the who's the other one? Oklahoma State? 00:06:07 Speaker 5: Well, you got Taulsa then when Tayshawn scored forty one and Tulsa. Yeah. 00:06:14 Speaker 4: But but my point is I don't think we as a fan base have spent enough time considering the state of Oklahoma. Okay, right, So I want it today. No, I mean, this is going to be like an educational thing our fan base. Let's just learn or talk about Oklahoma. So before we do any Oklahoma talk, the text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. You can add your Oklahoma thoughts. When I say Oklahoma, what comes to your mind? Right, Let's let's just some Oklahoma facts. 00:06:46 Speaker 5: I'd say, Really, the first thing I think of is college sports with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, for sure. 00:06:51 Speaker 4: That's the first thing you think of. 00:06:52 Speaker 5: Probably, And then the second thing probably would be the Oklahoma City bombing. 00:06:56 Speaker 4: Okay, that's what I what a lot of people do. That was what nineteen nine four? Maybe something like that? 00:07:02 Speaker 5: That sounds right? 00:07:03 Speaker 4: Do you remember who did it? 00:07:05 Speaker 5: Timothy? I know I want to say Dalton on that, right. McVeagh McVeigh. 00:07:11 Speaker 4: Yeah, not Timothy McVeigh. Yeah, and he uh, he's still the only person I think that's been executed by the federal government in like thirty years. I don't think maybe. 00:07:21 Speaker 5: Did the un obomber get executed, I'm not sure. 00:07:26 Speaker 4: I know, I'm pretty sure McVeigh did, and I don't think the federal government. I could be wrong about that, but I don't think they've executed. 00:07:31 Speaker 5: Anybody the other guy too, or was just Timothy mcvagh. 00:07:34 Speaker 4: I want to say the other guy did not, but that could be. What's interesting is nobody ever remembers the other guys. Yeah, what's what was the other guy's name, Terry. 00:07:43 Speaker 5: Something? 00:07:43 Speaker 4: All right, don't say, was it Dalton? No? 00:07:47 Speaker 3: He called he called Timothy Timothy. 00:07:50 Speaker 5: There were a lot of people that died in that, weren't there, Like, oh, yeah, I've been to the memorial. It's powerful because they have an empty chair for each person that eyed on the explosion, sitting in the ground where the building used to be. It's like, on the first floor there may be five chairs, sixth floor there may be eleven cheers, and they're stacked like in rolls where the building used to be. That is really it is very powerful. 00:08:14 Speaker 4: Okay. So then the other things that come to mind for me, uh Drew, Toby Keith, Okay, that's a good house from Oklahoma. 00:08:21 Speaker 6: Oh yeah, maybe the most famous Oklahoma. 00:08:23 Speaker 4: Fan, Toby Keith Shannon. Oh good, old Jay Off. 00:08:27 Speaker 3: That was one of mine, the Voice of Wrestling, Voice of Wrestling. 00:08:32 Speaker 4: Huge Oklahoma fan. That stupid song boom or soon soon. The only reason that gets in my brain is one time in Vegas, I was playing black jack and there were two like like those women. 00:08:46 Speaker 5: On the White Lotus, you know, like buddies. 00:08:48 Speaker 4: Yeah, mid you know, forty year old. Hey, the girls are out in town and every time they would win a hand, they would go boom soon, boom soon Jack. You in a lot of hands, and I wanted to throw them all off the thing. So that's me. 00:09:04 Speaker 5: What about you? 00:09:07 Speaker 6: Zach Bryan comes to mind because he has a bunch of songs look Home in the title. A couple of personal experiences. The Haunted Hotel. That's probably the first thing that it's right. 00:09:17 Speaker 4: Sturve in the Haunted Hotel in Oklahoma City. 00:09:20 Speaker 6: In that same trip, Russell Westbrook and I had a little back and forth while we were driving through Oklahoma because you were associated with the state. 00:09:27 Speaker 4: You were mocking his thirst traps. 00:09:29 Speaker 6: He needed in his thirst strap to be mocked. I've never seen a grown man take that many pictures by himself. 00:09:35 Speaker 4: Yeah, wow, that's that's a good memory, Shandon, what about you when you hear Oklahoma. 00:09:39 Speaker 2: You've already taken two of mine, the Scurving and JR. I will add in that was also the trip we were in Oklahoma at the Thunder game. Remember when you had the TV show and we weren't allowed to be on it. In the background, Ryan and I like photo shop like things over top of our heads so that it wouldn't be us. So there's a great picture of Ryan and I at Thunder game and I don't know who it was, maybe Daniel the camera guy at the. 00:10:04 Speaker 3: He put like a photo shopped head over Ryan and I at the thunder game. 00:10:08 Speaker 4: So you were not allowed. That was That was a really stupid iHeart rule where when I did Hey Kentucky, where you all? They let me be on it, they let Drew beyond it. But Ryan and Shannon is where they drew the line. No Ryan, no Shannon, and that I you, I needed you to do something, so they put a fake head on you, like they couldn't show Ryan or Shinnon's face. 00:10:32 Speaker 3: W l A cartoon heads on us? 00:10:34 Speaker 5: You had cartoon heads. We're at the Buddy Holly Museum. When you guys shot the show, that was. 00:10:39 Speaker 6: In Texas outside in Oklahoma City Park. 00:10:43 Speaker 5: All right. 00:10:43 Speaker 4: So then also when I think of Oklahoma, Tulsa makes me think of Tubby. Tubby was Tubby was at Tulsa? 00:10:51 Speaker 5: Is that correct? 00:10:51 Speaker 7: Uh? 00:10:52 Speaker 4: A lot of people don't know this. Joe and Kelly Kraft are like they're they're really nice. Craft compound is in Oklahoma. It is like their house here in Lexington is very nice, but like it blends in the neighborhood. Like they live not far from cow where he lived, but they have a plot like a a state and it's in Oklahoma. I've never been there. They actually on that same trip they offered us to stay there, and I was like, I'm not taking these guys into your house when when you learned. 00:11:24 Speaker 5: But you took it to the Canadian embassy when they were living up there. 00:11:27 Speaker 4: Oh that was I felt like you I mean, there were police to take care of. That was just gonna be That was just gonna be me and and us. There's also the musical Oklahoma. 00:11:37 Speaker 5: Yes, it's like kind of country western you I've never seen it. What's what's that? Cowboys and Indian like Indians, but cowboys and rodeo people singing and dancing. But what's the what's the don't know is there a plot though I've not seen it. 00:11:53 Speaker 4: Then you also, Oklahoma has a lot of like Native American reservations, right, Like I know there was a thing if you ever want to go down a rabbit hole of like interesting, there was a thing where there were Oklahoma. So you know, Native Americans on their their planet reservations like they there are some federal laws that don't apply to them. They're almost like their own little place. And well they're federalized, appl state laws don't apply. So if you have if you were to have a Native American reservation in the middle of Lexington, they have to follow federal law. But there's some Kentucky state law that they would not have to follow. They're like sovereign ground. And I believe there was some Oklahoma law. I'm not sure. Maybe it had something to do with abortion or something. I don't know, maybe DUI something. Anyway, the Native Americans were like, we're not following it. Sorry, no, and they took them to court and it went all the way Supreme Court like a couple of years ago, and the Native Americans won and they were like, they do not have to follow your state law. So now Oklahoma, I think maybe tried to take some of the land back and it's still a fight, like because it's a big swamp land. It's not just like a street and it's in Oklahoma, but it's like kind of not in Oklahoma. So I just I've always found that little thing interesting. 00:13:12 Speaker 5: Yeah, any reservations were usually massive, many many, many times. 00:13:15 Speaker 4: Some of them like up in Montana and South Dakota, are massive massive. I think this is a smaller one, but it's in Oklahoma. 00:13:22 Speaker 5: I'm sitting away. You were thinking of Blake Shelton. He'll be here tomorrow night and he's from Oklahoma. You think he came. I think he may come to the show today. 00:13:30 Speaker 4: So we need if we need to beat him, then we and the Crown can taunt him tomorrow during the show during the show, like his buses pulled up yesterday, huh, Which made me think, Shannon, that's got to be a heck. Of a set he has if the buses get there two days early. 00:13:45 Speaker 3: Got massive stage set up? 00:13:47 Speaker 4: Would you say massive, it's got to be two days early. 00:13:51 Speaker 5: Right, my son's on the crew, help and set it up and break it down. I know he had to report today. Your son's on the Gavin, he sees he does that stuff, break set up. 00:14:00 Speaker 3: State stuff like WWE two. 00:14:02 Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, he did the was it the Super Slam whatever it was in Indianapolis. 00:14:07 Speaker 4: Slam Summer SummerSlam, Summerlam? 00:14:09 Speaker 5: Well, I think you mean the Royal Royal rumbles that this was not called the Super Slam. 00:14:13 Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a sale they had at walm And. 00:14:16 Speaker 5: It wouldn't be summersant Slam in February. 00:14:19 Speaker 4: It was in January, And no it wouldn't. 00:14:21 Speaker 6: Ye had a Kanye concert when Kanye was like living in an arena, right. 00:14:24 Speaker 5: The when Kanye came out in the middle of the arena and had like some costume one you couldn't see his face. Yeah, Gavin worked that one. There you go. 00:14:31 Speaker 6: Also, think about the movie Twister. Is that based in Oklahoma's Big Tornado area? 00:14:36 Speaker 4: Okay, well, if you have other facts, I want to use the Ultimately, this show is here to educate, sure, and we should learn about the state of Oklahoma. Do you know what is the capital? 00:14:44 Speaker 5: Oklahoma City? 00:14:45 Speaker 4: That's right. 00:14:46 Speaker 6: Also, Ted Kazinski was the unibommer. 00:14:49 Speaker 4: No, I know that, but he wasn't the second person on the. 00:14:52 Speaker 6: We couldn't get's name either. 00:14:54 Speaker 5: I knew that one, actually didn't know. 00:14:55 Speaker 4: It's the Timothy mcvalgue. 00:14:56 Speaker 5: What's the other guy. It's Terry something, Terry McAuliffe. No, he's the Oh I think it is maybe an mc but he was the governor of Virginia. I don't think he did it. Well, have to look it up. 00:15:05 Speaker 4: All right. If I'm nine two eight oh, uh, twenty two eighty seven? What town is Oklahoma state? 00:15:10 Speaker 5: In Norman? So that's Oklahoma? Oh, Oklahoma state? Not sure? Still water, still water, still water. 00:15:18 Speaker 6: I don't really have any sooners thoughts, like we're all naming the state. Do you all have any Well, they're good, they're really good. 00:15:25 Speaker 4: Well it's they're good at women's softball. They like win it every year, that's true. They do. H Baker Mayfield. Yeah, Barry Switzer. I always think of Barry Switzer and. 00:15:34 Speaker 6: Then Adrian Peterson. 00:15:36 Speaker 4: Barry Danders played at Oklahoma State but uh, yeah, that's all I got. If I'm nine to twenty two eight best Oklahoma basketball player Blake Griffin, I got two that come to mind. Well. See, actually I wasn't even gonna say him, but Blake Griffin should be on there. Yeah, Trey Young ty Yeah, and then what about what about Wayman Tisday? 00:15:56 Speaker 5: That's a great one. 00:15:57 Speaker 4: Wyman Tisday. 00:15:58 Speaker 5: He was as dominant anybody during that air. 00:16:01 Speaker 4: If I'm nine twenty two eighty seven, we will take a break, be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio. Yeah, there you go. This is Kenny Rogers version of the song that I is maybe my favorite. Tyler Childers live when he plays Tulsa Turnaround live, it's the best thing he does. Now he doesn't always he doesn't have it recorded, but live this is the song I enjoy the most pop out it mute. He said, you know, the funky butt gives me the Tulsa Turnaround. 00:16:36 Speaker 5: That's right. 00:16:36 Speaker 4: This Kenny was originally Kenny Rogers when he was in that weird band what was it, College Dim or First Edition Dimension? First Edition? Yeah, people, I didn't know that until Tyler Childer. Is that that Kenny Rogers was in a band like a funk a delic like you know, I think like a drug addle band called First Edition. How many people know that? 00:17:01 Speaker 5: Do you think not? There can't be many. Well, our parents all know it. 00:17:05 Speaker 4: Did you know it? 00:17:06 Speaker 5: Yeah? I knew it. 00:17:07 Speaker 4: You knew he was in first Edition? Yeah, you knew he was in like a funk band. 00:17:11 Speaker 5: Yeah, like the really an LSD drug induced type band had some weird songs. 00:17:16 Speaker 4: They have that song that's in Big Lebowski, right, condition, My condition was in my condition. My addition is that Rogers song too. 00:17:27 Speaker 6: I didn't know about First Edition, but I would love him to perform with New Edition. That would be a great contest. 00:17:32 Speaker 3: Condition my condition was in. 00:17:34 Speaker 4: That's yeah, that's a great song too. All right, So some more things. Uh, the dust Bowl you know you've heard about the dust Bowl that was in Oklaho, Oklahoma. Uh they call him Oakie's from an Oakie from Muskokie. 00:17:46 Speaker 5: Uh. 00:17:47 Speaker 4: Terry Nichols was the other Nichols And then what you would do? I'm ashamed it was in Oklahoma. 00:17:55 Speaker 5: I got to send me a fun fact. You can actually get from Oklahoma to Kentucky driving through one state? What state? Missouri? 00:18:06 Speaker 4: So you go from Kentucky to Okay, and I would never would have thought that like a really fun fact. 00:18:11 Speaker 5: I thought it was blew my mind. My mind exploded. 00:18:15 Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, I guess that's interesting, but you you got really excited. 00:18:18 Speaker 5: I couldn't believe it. I had to look it up on the maps. You think Oklahoma was We've been there. Yeah, a number of times I thought there's no way. Well, only one state connects the two where Kentucky is located, where they're located. And I'll be damn. 00:18:31 Speaker 3: Crazy how maps work. 00:18:33 Speaker 5: You know what Oklahoma is shaped like a frying pan? Remember that when I was a kid. Brian Bosworth, Yeah, I think Troy Aikman is actually from Oklahoma. 00:18:43 Speaker 4: He payed there, well didn't he? He started there and then and then uh, Johnny Bench is apparently from Oklahoma. 00:18:52 Speaker 5: I didn't know that. 00:18:53 Speaker 4: So there you go. I'm sure there'll be other things that Garth Brooks Garth cars from Oklahoma, Big Oklahoma. We put we pulled out Blake Shelton and all those guys, and before we pulled out Garth Garth. 00:19:04 Speaker 6: He's right where he needs to be. 00:19:07 Speaker 5: You don't like you don't like that I did. 00:19:09 Speaker 6: It's a little weird. 00:19:10 Speaker 4: What makes him weird? 00:19:11 Speaker 6: He's just everything is so dramatic. Like I watched a special on him recently in his interview, I had to turn it off. I'm like, no one talks like this in conversation. 00:19:19 Speaker 4: So you're anti Garth. 00:19:20 Speaker 6: I love a good Garth song. Garth he creeps me out a little bit. 00:19:23 Speaker 4: He creeps you out. 00:19:24 Speaker 6: Oh I'll sing Garth with anyone. It's probably one of my top twenty artists played each year. But Garth the person, he's a little creepy to me. 00:19:32 Speaker 4: Oh, man, who knew you had an anti Garth? 00:19:34 Speaker 5: See? 00:19:35 Speaker 6: I mean he can sing, he's got some hits, several hits, but it's just just a different dude. 00:19:39 Speaker 3: Most people just hate Chris Gaines and then like Garth Brooks. 00:19:41 Speaker 4: Yeah, part of the weird that is weird. Chris Gaines was weird. Pretty good Saturday Night Live host. Actually, all right, so let's let's talk about we have Butler and Robbins. What are the minute what's the minutes? Like tonight, who's playing? Who's not playing? Is there guys that been getting run to get no run? Does Mark Pope now only play Amaris seventeen minutes a game, Like, what are we doing? 00:20:08 Speaker 5: I'd say Lamar gets more minutes than Jackson, and so those minutes then get taken away from Travmont Lamont. I tall Lamar on the post game show the other night, Kobe Brad, So, I think Butler gets definitely some of Travis's minutes because Travis played what so the biggest change will be Lamont taking his minute? Yes? 00:20:29 Speaker 4: Is that fair? 00:20:30 Speaker 5: Yes? 00:20:30 Speaker 4: Then what do we think Jackson takes a lot of what Colin Chandler minutes? Is that kind of how you think it goes. 00:20:37 Speaker 6: I'm still confused on Robinson. You know, I'm taking Pope for his word, but he was like, Jackson's just now getting back to skill work. He just said that a few days ago. So if he was just doing that, not even practicing fully, I just can't imagine him playing a lot. I hope to see him. 00:20:51 Speaker 4: So if I set the over under on Butler minutes at twenty, what do you think it is? 00:20:56 Speaker 5: Oh, it's a good number. I'd probably say over Okay, what do you think. 00:21:01 Speaker 6: I've got him at seventeen minutes? But he says that's assuming the game's going well, I mean it's. 00:21:07 Speaker 4: Yeah, So I'm gonna say that. That's really the thing for me. If we're winning under, if it's really close, comes down to the end, over, that's what I would say. All right, what about Robinson, I was gonna set it at like. 00:21:20 Speaker 5: Fifteen, I'll go under. 00:21:23 Speaker 4: Se Do you think there's a chance he doesn't play. 00:21:25 Speaker 5: I think it's a chance he doesn't play. Okay, I will go under. 00:21:28 Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, So who starts? 00:21:31 Speaker 6: I think you stick with the group. 00:21:32 Speaker 5: I think you do too. You had to stick with that group of starters. 00:21:36 Speaker 4: Start you're starting Perry? 00:21:38 Speaker 6: Yeah, but he I mean fears is, he's a point guard and he's gonna be a tough guard. He's not quite Mark Sears that Perry just had to face. But I think you stick with what you've had the last few games. And Butler, I disagree. I would go Butler. I would bring Robinson off the bench. But I would go Butler. Oh way, Braa Carr Williams. In my mind, they'll do one of those hot starts again. It'll be nine to two or twelve to two. But then Butler's part of the second wave. Get him off the bench. That's that's if our mark Pope. But I also have no business being a basketball coach. 00:22:09 Speaker 4: So no, you don't, you really don't. Yeah, if he's gonna insist on bringing in a second wave, I almost wish he would leave Robinson and Butler for that second wave. So we don't get. 00:22:21 Speaker 5: We didn't talk a whole like Car played really really well and le Almanor didn't do anything. 00:22:25 Speaker 4: He almost had a trillion again almost he only played like ten minutes. Yeah, but I think, honestly, no offense to Ansley Almanor. That's how it should be. I think Car should be the one getting the minutes. Almonor should come in and hopefully, you know, be able to hit some threes. And yeah, he's just he's good at what he does. But I don't think you want him to be a starter. Correct. Yeah, Car looks to be back. Yeah, I didn't know you hate Garth. He always says nice thing. 00:22:51 Speaker 6: Darth the person, not his music. 00:22:53 Speaker 4: All right, we'll take a break. Right back to ks. TJ. 00:22:56 Speaker 3: Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:22:59 Speaker 1: He'll make them. 00:22:59 Speaker 2: Pay now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:03 Speaker 4: Here's Matt Jones, Don Williams, underrated country singer right here. 00:23:08 Speaker 5: This is a great song. 00:23:09 Speaker 4: Yeah it is. I don't even know what it means to live on Tulsa time, but uh, you got it. 00:23:14 Speaker 5: I always liked this song. 00:23:16 Speaker 4: Don Williams got a good voice, like he's kind of forgotten by history, but in that little era of country music that I like, he's he put into stuff out. 00:23:23 Speaker 5: Well, we mentioned Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton. Guess who else is from Oklahoma? 00:23:28 Speaker 4: How about this Garth Brooks, Reba McIntyre, Blake Shelton, and Carrie Underwood. Carrie Underwood, that's a pretty good I mean, superos are not many states you get outside of what Tennessee, Kentucky, maybe Texas. You're not gonna have too many countries. I mean yeah, if you're talking country stars, I mean, you can make a strong argument that Garth's the biggest male country singer ever. And you can make a strong argument that Reebu could be, if not the biggest, the second or third biggest female singer. And they're both from the same state. That's pretty big. 00:24:02 Speaker 5: That's huge. I was surprised. 00:24:04 Speaker 6: Also, my doppelganger, Brad Pitt, he's from Oklahoma. 00:24:10 Speaker 4: Think he's your doppelganger. 00:24:11 Speaker 6: I'm just say we look different, a little different. 00:24:13 Speaker 5: I'm I'm enjoying. 00:24:14 Speaker 4: Wait, that's not what doppelganger means. Doppleganger, he doesn't. 00:24:17 Speaker 6: Look Yeah, I was just trying to hype myself up. But it's not better looking than me. We just have different appearances. 00:24:23 Speaker 4: Oh so you think you're equal. Yeah, we're just different. Okay, Yeah, that's interesting. I'll give you another little facts. Somebody reminded me. Do you know that in around the uh turn of from early nineteen hundreds, did you know that that Oklahoma was black Wall Street? Do you know this? No, So, Oklahoma City was basically during segregation, Wall Street, or to me, Tulsa was Wall Street for black businesses. And if you if you read about the massacre of nineteen twenty one, it's I mean, the movie The Watchman and the book The Watchman has a lot to do with it. You should read about it. It's a very it's actually one of the underreported things in human history. But basically, or in American history, basically the center of black business in America through was was in Tulsa, and they called it black Wall Street. 00:25:24 Speaker 5: I didn't know that. I didn't know about the Tulsa massacre though, that's a very powerful story. You should read it again. Yeah, understand it. 00:25:30 Speaker 6: I can name some Kentucky basketball players from Oklahoma. One we mentioned yesterday. Who's that Colin Azabuki? 00:25:36 Speaker 4: Oh yeah. 00:25:37 Speaker 6: And then there's two on the current team, Brandon Garrison and Jackson Robinsoner from Oklahoma. 00:25:42 Speaker 5: That's Jackson's from Oklahoma. 00:25:44 Speaker 6: Yeah, and we can throw in Daniel Orton for fun. 00:25:46 Speaker 4: Daniel Orton's from Oklahoma. All right, Well, apem nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Let's sah. I'm gonna give you a quick before we go to the phones. I'm gonna give you some teams that our fans care about, and it's gonna be by Sale. You ready got it? By Sale? Duke is a national champion. 00:26:04 Speaker 5: Buying. 00:26:04 Speaker 4: They've won their last two games by a combined total of like eighty. 00:26:08 Speaker 5: I'm buying right now. 00:26:09 Speaker 6: I'm selling one. He'll slip and fall in a close game. 00:26:12 Speaker 5: Two. 00:26:12 Speaker 6: They just haven't been tested in the acc channing selling. 00:26:16 Speaker 2: They'll get upset by somebody in probably the sweet sixteen round. 00:26:19 Speaker 4: I might say selling to win the title, because I think you those freshmen they'll drop one somewhere. But buying to be maybe the second best team. They've gotten. They've gotten a lot better as the ear goes on, and I know they're not playing anybody, but still they're still playing. They're still buysell Tennessee is a final fourteen? Come on, never made a file four. 00:26:42 Speaker 5: They do it this year. No, that's why when they play in a ground of golf, when they play fourteen holes, they never played them final four. 00:26:50 Speaker 6: We got a good, good reaction to hear. 00:26:52 Speaker 4: That was a sympathy laugh. 00:26:54 Speaker 5: They Brandon's holding his gut, he's laughing so hard. That was the sympathy laugh. Wait, where did you hear that joke? Actually, Drew in Corbin sit that to me. I used it in a speaking engagement one time. Oh you had a rider for a speaking Okay, yeah, that that one joke. 00:27:08 Speaker 4: Well, well maybe you should get some better ones. No offense to Drew and Corbin. All right, So buy our sell Tennessee final four. 00:27:14 Speaker 6: I'm selling. And just yesterday at the baseball game, we're talking about how they were in the eleit eight last year and how nerve wracking it was. That the joke almost went away. But we get to keep saying, no final fours a little longer. 00:27:23 Speaker 4: Right, Channon Hope. 00:27:25 Speaker 3: I'm selling, They're gonna. 00:27:26 Speaker 4: Sorry, I'm gonna sell as well. I just don't think they have enough offense. Buy or sell. Louisville is a second weekend team. 00:27:33 Speaker 5: I can buy that. I'm gonna buy it. 00:27:35 Speaker 6: You're gonna buy it, Okay, I'll buy it. I don't love it, but I'll buy into that. 00:27:40 Speaker 4: Sell. They're gonna get to the second round, but they'll be playing somebody higher seated than them probably when they get there. They just I mean, they haven't played anybody. 00:27:48 Speaker 5: I hate to say it. I like that. Hepburn guy. 00:27:51 Speaker 4: He's been great. He's been great. But I'm still selling. What about you sharing? 00:27:54 Speaker 3: So they have them, I think around a six seed? Is that right? 00:27:58 Speaker 4: Properly you could get up. 00:27:59 Speaker 3: To a so they'd have to knock off a three seed. You know what, three or four I'm gonna buy. I think they're six. 00:28:07 Speaker 4: Three Louislle believers, Saint John's Elite eight team. 00:28:10 Speaker 5: Buy or sal you know what. I'm gonna buy that because they played defense like nobody and that's what wins you lesson some close those close games in the tournament. 00:28:23 Speaker 4: I'll buy. 00:28:24 Speaker 6: I can't believe I just went by on Louisville and Patino back to back. But man, they're fun to watch, and he's got them playing so well right now. 00:28:30 Speaker 4: I mean, I'll buy him to the Elite eight. I think they lose at that point, but I could buy him in the right scenario to the Elite eight. Shannon. 00:28:37 Speaker 3: Yeah, they just can't shoot the balls, cannot shoot. 00:28:40 Speaker 4: But they are great. 00:28:41 Speaker 3: They are great defensively though. 00:28:43 Speaker 4: They are great. 00:28:43 Speaker 2: DESI yeah, and and they've done they're on a roll. I'm gonna go buy. I'm gonna go buy. 00:28:47 Speaker 4: All right, Well, Arkansas wins a game in the tournament. 00:28:51 Speaker 5: I am selling that we've known Calipari's track record here in the first round of any tournament. 00:28:56 Speaker 4: Sell, Sell, Sell, Now they could play in the first four, Yon play in the first four. That would be winning the game. Is that plausible. 00:29:06 Speaker 6: I'm buying for that reason. I was already thinking that they win in Dayton, get to the tournament and lose. 00:29:11 Speaker 4: I'm gonna say bye. I think they'll win a game in Dayton and then they'll lose. 00:29:14 Speaker 2: Shannon, I'm not even convinced they're gonna make the tournament. They've got They're still gotta go to Vandy. But they've got Texas. I'm gonna say so, I'm gonna sell. 00:29:24 Speaker 4: All right, So you go in zero games? 00:29:26 Speaker 5: There you go. Those are good. 00:29:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, who's up first? 00:29:29 Speaker 3: Reese? 00:29:30 Speaker 4: Go ahead, Reese. 00:29:32 Speaker 7: Hey man, I'm a couple of days behind on the podcast. I apologize if you guys already talked about this, But that fans stake account you guys mentioned they're doing something that I think they're kind of underestimating Nation. 00:29:47 Speaker 4: Let me just say I'm out on fans stake, not because money though, Yeah, but I don't care. I mean, I like the idea of this. Fans first of all, if they meant choose to go to college based on fake money from a fake account, like, then you know, was that really what you want? That just this idea of I don't believe the idea of promoting people to give money on a like auction basis for players. I just don't think that's a really great way to go now. I know, like it doesn't really cost you any money, and Louisville has really gotten into it. And if he picks Louisville, everybody's gonna say it's because of that, but it's not. I mean, does Nate Aimen does like he have a stake in fans stake. 00:30:38 Speaker 5: No, but I'm. 00:30:39 Speaker 4: Serious, Like, I I don't. What do you think, Drew am? I don't. 00:30:44 Speaker 6: I don't really, I'm not a fan of it. Also, hopefully someone rated as holly as him is considering real things for his college decision, not this fan stake. I mean, it's so so weird that you're bidding on a player anyway. 00:30:57 Speaker 4: ESPN released their first twenty twenty mock draft this morning, and he's like the projected fourth pick in the draft. And so my view is, if you're the projective fourth pick in the draft, you shouldn't be picking your cause decision based on who which fan base gives you the most twenty dollars donations that aren't even real donations. 00:31:16 Speaker 5: Well that's what I was gonna say. What Drew said, They dude can get millions of dollars in n AL endorsement deals, real money, A real million dollars, this fake money. What's he gonna do with that? 00:31:24 Speaker 4: So I know Louisville fans, Sir Reese, are like, look, we're giving so much more, blah blah blah blah blah. But I just for me, that whole system doesn't pass the smell test. And because of that, like there's no reason. I mean, it is clear that everybody wants Kentucky fans to get involved, right like that that I think the whole thing is trying to get Kentucky fans involved. And for me, Ree, I just don't think it's worth it. 00:31:53 Speaker 7: That's fair. I My thing is, it took like two seconds to do. And if this account, that's like trying to get people to pay for players, if they have to stake a million dollars in at a mint, if like thirty thousand people put twenty five dollars, like not real, twenty five dollars you put in an email and a phone number. You don't put in a credit card. 00:32:12 Speaker 4: And you mean you realize that those words you're saying, it's why none of us will ever have privacy anymore, because you're like, well, all they're doing is I'm giving away this, this, and this. That's what they want you to do, right and then like it's not gonna stop with this one. If it works, it'll keep going. They want us, and I appreciate the call. They want Kentucky fans to be part of this, and I just don't think it would be great for college sports to this to become the way you recruit players. Is who can bid on the most money? 00:32:45 Speaker 6: I just and what percentages fans stake taking home with them, because that's they're getting a cut of whatever's happening here. 00:32:52 Speaker 4: Yeah, So I just I'm not Maybe this will be the future, and maybe this will be what we have to do. For right now, it just doesn't for me. Ryan passed the smell test that I'm gonna say, Hey, are fans go give this thing? 00:33:06 Speaker 5: Whatever? Could could that be legal? If it was if they were using real money? 00:33:10 Speaker 4: Well, anything's legal now, I mean you can I mean like, I mean anything like like like he I don't think in recruiting there's gonna be anything that's against the rules. 00:33:20 Speaker 5: Now, why wouldn't that be? Why letting that start doing that? 00:33:25 Speaker 4: Because I still think in the long run, it's not real money. Like you heard what that guy just said. If thirty thousand of us, you know what I mean, you know how hard it is to get thirty thousand people to do anything. 00:33:38 Speaker 6: Yeah, if I were willing to get invested in recruit I would stick with the local collectives and going directly with the school and events. And doing it that way, even though it's just weird times period that. 00:33:48 Speaker 5: We're paying for recruits. 00:33:49 Speaker 6: Yeah, it's still getting used to that, but this one feels a little slimmier than the. 00:33:52 Speaker 5: It just doesn't. 00:33:53 Speaker 4: It doesn't for me feel like the kind of thing that I, you know, think is how you should do it. I do think DraftKings, though, is how you should play some bet. I mean last night there were a lot of big tif you if you were like me and you liked Alabama, that was a small spread that was over quickly. 00:34:10 Speaker 6: I did Luca and Kyrie overs in the Lakers map, but he didn't hit it though, right well, he had a triple double like plus one ten. 00:34:16 Speaker 4: Yeah, Luca was he needed thirty. I thought that I actually bet the under on Luca and he had a good game, but he didn't get the thirty. But you could do it at DraftKings. I agree Dolly. 00:34:54 Speaker 5: No, she's not from Okahoma. No, no, oh well no one man? 00:34:59 Speaker 3: No you Oklahoma is the song? 00:35:01 Speaker 4: Yeah? Forget that. 00:35:04 Speaker 3: So you can't even tell Dolly from Reva. 00:35:07 Speaker 4: You say you didn't read you think for a second it was dollars. No she's not. Don't you said yourself. Reba's not Dolly. You need to stop yourself. 00:35:17 Speaker 5: She let me hear. 00:35:20 Speaker 4: Well that's not that way, man, Go back to the beginning. No, that was that. No, is she singing with Dolly? 00:35:27 Speaker 3: No it doesn't. 00:35:27 Speaker 4: That was not Riba at the beginning. That's Reba. I know Reba's voice. That's Reba. Go back to the beginning. Go back to where you started playing. See she's singing with somebody. 00:35:39 Speaker 5: That's Dolly. 00:35:40 Speaker 6: That actually sounds like that, like Dollar, that's Dolly. 00:35:43 Speaker 4: You apologize to be I knew that was Dollar. 00:35:47 Speaker 3: I will not apologize. 00:35:49 Speaker 4: You tried to say it was Reba. I knew that was Dolly. You owe me an apology. 00:35:55 Speaker 2: I don't know you anything, it says Reba McIntyre right here, And that's dollar. 00:36:00 Speaker 6: Sounds like dollary to me, but you're the expert. 00:36:02 Speaker 4: See Shannon, Shannon tried to pull one on me and I still was able to figure it out. 00:36:08 Speaker 5: So if it's Dolly sound wanting to work with Rea, then I don't know, but I will. 00:36:15 Speaker 4: I will put a million dollars that that was Dolly Parton at the w let's turn up. Now that's Reba. All right, Well we'll stop it because I don't can we do? We have to do it? Like people on podcasts an't even hear any of this, So like, what are they talking about? Why is Matt screaming right now? Terry says, Garth Brooks is such a phony? I agree with Drew. He called himself mister Tricia Yearwood once police. Well he might be a phony, but what's wrong with calling yourself mister Tricia Yearwood. Isn't that like he's just being He's just like being nice to his. 00:36:48 Speaker 6: Wife, right, Yeah, I didn't even know about that. It's I don't even know how to articulate it. But in interviews. Just the way he talks, it's like so dramatic. Everything is just this. 00:36:57 Speaker 4: I don't I know what you mean. I can see what you're saying, but like, I don't think he's like a phony because he is like pumping up his wife. No, I can see you saying, I'm mister Abby Franklin. Yeah, that's it's. 00:37:10 Speaker 6: Probably what I'm saved in. 00:37:13 Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Terry, don't be so like mask like, like you know, I thought there the question you're a mister yoga girl. 00:37:20 Speaker 5: I am. I'll take that, you're mister Dolly. I'm enjoyed. I'm enjoying watching Tulsa King. I've almost got the second season finished with. You know, I didn't think about that. It's different. I think the Tulsa we've seen in Tulsa King's a little different than Tulsa really. 00:37:32 Speaker 4: Maybe so, Shannon, what did you think of the Southwest Airlines pilot that was landing saw another plane coming round, thought, uh, thought he was gonna hit it, and then came right back and got up out. 00:37:45 Speaker 5: Of the air. 00:37:45 Speaker 4: What'd you think about that ship? 00:37:47 Speaker 2: I think the guy is a hero that yeah, isn't a crash there, But man, like, what is it going on with all these flights. 00:37:53 Speaker 3: So here's my question, I don't want to fly anywhere. 00:37:56 Speaker 4: Are we Is it really more danger in the last month or is it just we are paying more attention to it? Like I mean, obviously the crash was more dangerous because we hadn't had one in how many years? But it does feel like every day there's a new something. Do we think it's more dangerous or like it's we are attentions on it. 00:38:20 Speaker 5: You know, it does seem like the near misses are happening a lot more often than usually they usually happen. So I after the crash, they happen when the helicopter hit the airplane. I read of this one story was said the air traffic controllers industry is so short staff, Like instead of doing two jobs, one guy's doing two jobs, that are two guys been in there and in the tower. 00:38:45 Speaker 4: See, Okay, not to get everybody all worked up, but like a lot of these jobs in the federal government are not the like most hot, like exciting jobs to have, and we just get rid. 00:38:58 Speaker 5: Of a lot of people. 00:38:58 Speaker 4: You got to make sure you're gonna be able to replace, right, So I do worry about that. But at the same time. Again, maybe this happens all the time and we just don't have the videos and everybody's paying attention. I just don't really know the answers. 00:39:09 Speaker 3: I don't think this happens all the time. 00:39:11 Speaker 4: You don't think it happens all the time. 00:39:12 Speaker 3: I think we would definitely hear about it if so. 00:39:14 Speaker 5: Let mean, the. 00:39:15 Speaker 4: Crash obviously doesn't happen all the time, but what about the near misses. 00:39:19 Speaker 6: It seems like there's a lot more. I'm the opposite of you and Shannon. I've not one time had any anxiety about flying. But I'm telling you right now, I'm going to Cancun this summer and I'm probably gonna drive. 00:39:28 Speaker 5: I'm gonna drive to Mexico. 00:39:30 Speaker 6: Yeah, this is the first time I've ever been like, do I really want to fly anytime soon? Because it just it seems there's been more. The numbers might show different, but I've seen a lot more video than I've seen in the past. 00:39:39 Speaker 4: Here's what I've here's what I've thought in the last few months. I think there's a lot of things that we rely on the government to do that we just don't think about. We just like assume they're gonna happen, and then all of a sudden when they don't happen, you're like, whoa, you know the FAA one of those like I've always just taken for granted, this idea of like planes not hitting each other, you know, and maybe it's just been clear in the last little bit that they can if you're not careful. 00:40:12 Speaker 6: So this latest one would have been awful if that pilot hadn't have seen that and pulled up. 00:40:17 Speaker 4: Whoever that was out to, whoever that pilot was. Who's up next? Shit, Bruce, Bruce, go ahead, Bruce. 00:40:24 Speaker 8: You guys can't forget good old j R. From WWA from Oklahao started with him. 00:40:29 Speaker 4: That's the thing. Okay here, if you start later, then you go ahead. 00:40:34 Speaker 8: The I was gonna tell you, guys, I've been here setting up the state wrestling tournament being you. This Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park is the girls and boys Kentucky High School state wrestling Tournaments. We'd love to see everybody come out amazing. 00:40:47 Speaker 5: Know this. 00:40:47 Speaker 4: Hang on to second, Bruce, just slow down. There's a girls high school wrestling tournament. 00:40:53 Speaker 8: Yes, sir, this is the second year. Last year, of course was our first and this is our second year. It's girls only. 00:40:59 Speaker 4: They people are particul Okay, just how many people participate in the girls high school wrestling. 00:41:06 Speaker 8: There's twelve weight classes, the loightest being one hundred, the heaviest being two thirty five, and each bracket is sixteen. 00:41:15 Speaker 4: Uh, there's that many. So that that means just to do the math, one hundred and sixty you say how many? How many groups? 00:41:25 Speaker 8: There's twelve weight classes, the lightest at one. 00:41:28 Speaker 4: So that means there are one hundred and ninety two young women in the state wrestling. That's amazing to me. 00:41:35 Speaker 8: Well, good for you guys, and also the boys is Friday, Saturday, and it's going to be a great time. I'm one of the officials. We're setting up the mats and everything right here at the Kentucky Horst Park at the All Take Arena. 00:41:47 Speaker 4: One Joy, you got out, take us out, Appreciate the call. 00:41:50 Speaker 5: I'll get the tournament. Tell you my favorite, honey boys, That's what I was gonna say. 00:41:53 Speaker 4: Give it to Union Twins. My favorite to win, knowing nothing about it is I'll pick Union because don't they win it every single year? 00:42:03 Speaker 6: The Twins are like two of the best wrestlers in the country in their at Union. Do you mean they're they're actually Rainy twins. Yeah, and they're really and they're there now. 00:42:11 Speaker 5: They're like a national and world champions in Union County. Yes. 00:42:15 Speaker 4: Huh. All right, well cool, we'll go to that at at a horse park. That's cool. We'll take a break. It's Wensday. Open up the restaurant. This is ks R.
