<v Speaker 1>This is WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre and you're listening to <v Speaker 1>the WWE. <v Speaker 2>Podcast show, the one that everybody wants met for sixteen, <v Speaker 2>so that your ass is mind. <v Speaker 3>You can acknowledge me and what is going on everybody, <v Speaker 3>and welcome to this week's episode of the Main Event Review. <v Speaker 3>Thank you very much for tuning in once again to <v Speaker 3>another episode. <v Speaker 4>A lots to go through this week. We had the <v Speaker 4>two matches on Main Event, which I'm really excited to <v Speaker 4>cover actually because we had something a little bit different <v Speaker 4>to what we normally have and that was no Alpha <v Speaker 4>Academy massive surprise. But otherwise there were some good matches <v Speaker 4>to sort of review as well. And yeah, the second <v Speaker 4>that also happened on Raw last week was obviously the <v Speaker 4>Netflix Anniversary, so we had a few title matches which <v Speaker 4>we'll probably review now. But in other news, I thought <v Speaker 4>i'd update you guys on obviously my thoughts on Drew <v Speaker 4>McIntyre being the new WWE Champion. So obviously they did <v Speaker 4>it in a way to protect Cody, which I'm not <v Speaker 4>entirely against, but adding Jacob Fattou into this has obviously <v Speaker 4>changed things when it comes to the road to WrestleMania. <v Speaker 4>Could we see Fatou actually getting a big push and <v Speaker 4>competing for the WW championship eventually, because now he's heavily <v Speaker 4>involved in this storyline. We obviously know he attacked Drew McIntyre, <v Speaker 4>but he also attacked Cody Rhods. There's a lot of <v Speaker 4>questions to suggest. Is Cody Rhods the person that attacked <v Speaker 4>Jacobattu backstage? Or did Jacob Fattou retaliate in the fact <v Speaker 4>that Cody Rhods was holding him? Well, I don't know. <v Speaker 4>That's probably the most interesting part of all this, But <v Speaker 4>I love it. I love that Drew McIntyre is WW champion. <v Speaker 4>I honestly didn't expect it. I really would have thought <v Speaker 4>that Drew wasn't going to get over the hum once <v Speaker 4>again and get screwed over. But finally they've given him <v Speaker 4>the title. So does Drew take it all the way <v Speaker 4>to WrestleMania That I have no idea of, But that <v Speaker 4>makes I guess the road to WrestleMania a lot more interesting. <v Speaker 4>And it feels as though that the Raw Rumble winner <v Speaker 4>will probably challenge Drew McIntyre. So is there a case <v Speaker 4>for Sammy's ain't There's so many questions because we got <v Speaker 4>the tournament coming up. It looks like Cody Roade is <v Speaker 4>probably going to take a bit of time off. So <v Speaker 4>does Randy win the tournament and then Cody Roads screws <v Speaker 4>Randy of the title opportunity against Drew McIntire. I don't know. <v Speaker 4>There's just so much and yeah, I'm excited now. I'm <v Speaker 4>actually locked into what's going to be happening because Drew <v Speaker 4>McIntire is champ. He deserves it. He's worked so hard. <v Speaker 4>He's been so good the last two years especially, I think, <v Speaker 4>especially with Sampunk and the feud that they had in <v Speaker 4>twenty twenty four and then last year long feud with <v Speaker 4>Cody Rhodes where he gets up on top. So yeah, <v Speaker 4>let's see what happens at the tournament. I don't know <v Speaker 4>what's gonna happen with that. I don't know who's gonna <v Speaker 4>win the Royal Rumble. They haven't hyped up the Royal Rumble. <v Speaker 4>I don't know if it's because it's gonna get a <v Speaker 4>lot of backlash because in Saudi Arabia. But we've got <v Speaker 4>main event first, before that Saturday main event I'm talking about, <v Speaker 4>and of course main event. The review but yeah, my <v Speaker 4>initial thoughts on Drew McIntyre. I'm excited and I'm happy <v Speaker 4>that actually he's got the title, and I think it's <v Speaker 4>really cool and it's funny that your current world champions <v Speaker 4>are Seampunk and Drew McIntyre. I find that quite funny too. <v Speaker 4>But yeah, Drew's the champion and got nothing against it. <v Speaker 4>But we'll move on to or Before that, I will <v Speaker 4>say that Joohon Evans has also joined the roster. I <v Speaker 4>did have a feeling he was going to join RAW. <v Speaker 4>I'm a little disappointed that they did it during a <v Speaker 4>TV announcement or television announcement commercial. Sorry, which is I <v Speaker 4>don't think it's fair. I think that deserved its moment. <v Speaker 4>Javon Evans has been really good, twenty one years of age, <v Speaker 4>young athletic, and let's see what he does on Monday <v Speaker 4>Night Raw. I haven't seen him compete on Raw most <v Speaker 4>of the time. He's been coming on SmackDown, but now <v Speaker 4>he's on Raw, so that's going to be quite awesome there. <v Speaker 4>So yeah, we'll start with the first match, and it's <v Speaker 4>Tyler Tonga from MFT, which I'm surprised he got a <v Speaker 4>main event appearance, taking on Apollo Cruise. So yes, Apollo <v Speaker 4>Cruz has made his return. They haven't announced it on <v Speaker 4>a main stage, they've put it onto main event. It's <v Speaker 4>been about ten months since we've seen him last, and <v Speaker 4>I think he did have an injury. But to be honest, <v Speaker 4>I'm a big fan of Apollo Cruse and it's awesome <v Speaker 4>to see him back. Will they be doing stuff with him, <v Speaker 4>I'm not too sure because they haven't obviously put him <v Speaker 4>on the main show, so I don't think they have <v Speaker 4>plans for him. But it's just great to see him <v Speaker 4>back healthy and back in action, and hopefully there's something <v Speaker 4>for him in the future. But I think it's a stacked, <v Speaker 4>obviously roster now, especially with the newcomers. So yeah, not <v Speaker 4>too sure all happened with him. But the match itself, <v Speaker 4>he looked really good. He looked in great shape, honestly, <v Speaker 4>performed really well in ring as well. It was a <v Speaker 4>great match, but obviously Tylertonga got the victory and it <v Speaker 4>was great that MFT didn't get involved, showing that Tylertonga <v Speaker 4>got this clean and is a dominant force and he <v Speaker 4>is obviously the big X factor when it comes to <v Speaker 4>this group. Seven foot tall, a massive presence, So yeah, essentially, <v Speaker 4>I would say the result was fair and it obviously <v Speaker 4>gave motivation and a push for them and momentum into <v Speaker 4>the match with the White Six, which spoiler alert they <v Speaker 4>did end up winning. But this was obviously recorded before that, <v Speaker 4>so that makes sense as to why Tyler Toong got <v Speaker 4>the victory. And yeah, the MFT get a real surprise <v Speaker 4>victory against I wouldn't say surprise, but a good victory <v Speaker 4>in important victory against the White Six. I don't think <v Speaker 4>that feud is over by any means, and I think <v Speaker 4>the payoff needs to be on a PRL. I don't <v Speaker 4>think fifteen minutes or ten minutes of a match on <v Speaker 4>SmackDown should finish this. So I really hope that feud continues, <v Speaker 4>and I feel like it does because Solo grabbed the <v Speaker 4>lantern and I feel like it's been a bit more <v Speaker 4>personal now and that's where the Wide Six will probably <v Speaker 4>retaliate and probably get one more and then there'll be <v Speaker 4>a deciding match. I think that's just personally in my opinion, <v Speaker 4>but we'll have to wait and see what happens there. <v Speaker 4>But yeah, Talatanga is victorious. We then have the opening <v Speaker 4>match of the Netflix Anniversary on Raw, which was Kyrie <v Speaker 4>Sane and or the Kabuki Warriors taking on Real Ripley <v Speaker 4>and Eero Sky. <v Speaker 3>This was for the. <v Speaker 4>Women's Tag Team champions. We obviously had a lot of <v Speaker 4>sort of spark and fights on SmackDown between all the <v Speaker 4>women's tag teams, So the women's tag teams elevated massively. <v Speaker 4>And I think going into this match Real Ripley and <v Speaker 4>EO Sky you would have thought, how are they possibly <v Speaker 4>going to lose this given them the star magnitude of <v Speaker 4>this group, and they definitely didn't lose. We had Real <v Speaker 4>Ripley pulling the rip tight on Asca, followed by a <v Speaker 4>moon salt by Ersky, then followed up by a suicide <v Speaker 4>dive to clear Kyrie saying away for Ria to pin <v Speaker 4>Asca and new Women's Tag Team champions rear Ripley and <v Speaker 4>er Sky, And yeah, I'm not surprised about it. It's <v Speaker 4>good to see that rear Ripley can do stuff outside <v Speaker 4>the Women's Championship, which is awesome. And you know they've <v Speaker 4>built a really good friendship er Sky and rear Ripley <v Speaker 4>and have become tag teams. Now. I don't know how <v Speaker 4>long this will last. Because you obviously have lash Legend <v Speaker 4>Nia Jacks, you have Alex Obliss, Charlotte Flair, you probably <v Speaker 4>have the Kabuki Warriors still involved, and you've got Bailey <v Speaker 4>and Lyra, So like, who knows what will happen, but <v Speaker 4>I'm sure that I think the road to WrestleMania for <v Speaker 4>the tag teams will be awesome, and maybe we'll see <v Speaker 4>a women's ladder match to determine the title. I know <v Speaker 4>that most of the time every WrestleMania has a multi <v Speaker 4>team tag team ladder match. Last year was like the <v Speaker 4>only one that didn't have it, but they did it <v Speaker 4>on SmackDown, and this time it could be the women's <v Speaker 4>tag team division that carry that, so that will be <v Speaker 4>pretty awesome. But Rio Reo Esky and Rie Ripley are <v Speaker 4>your new women's tag team champions, and I'm not against it. <v Speaker 4>I'm just keen again another road to WrestleMania storyline. There. <v Speaker 4>We also had another match, as I said, three title matches, <v Speaker 4>with Becky Lynch and Maxine Duprie taking on each other. <v Speaker 4>And I can't remember the last time we've had two <v Speaker 4>title changes in one show on a SmackDown on Raw. <v Speaker 4>But we get Becky Lynch getting the victory using essentially <v Speaker 4>the ropes to cheat, so she's essentially cheated to get <v Speaker 4>the victory defeating Maxine Duprie. Here. Now, I don't know <v Speaker 4>if I like the decision and booking, but I then <v Speaker 4>realized that we still haven't got that feud between aj <v Speaker 4>Lee and Becky Lynch, So it seems as though that <v Speaker 4>that's going to be for the title, and most likely <v Speaker 4>that's what's going to take us to WrestleMania. So having <v Speaker 4>a match between Ajlee and Becky Lynch is probably bigger <v Speaker 4>than what Maxine dupri will have. I would have preferred <v Speaker 4>that she had the title so we could elevate the <v Speaker 4>new women's stars and just get a non title feud <v Speaker 4>between aj and Becky, because I don't think we need it. <v Speaker 4>But at the same time, it looks as though that <v Speaker 4>I think Becky is deserving of the championship. She's done <v Speaker 4>a really good job in elevating the women's into continental title. <v Speaker 4>And I've also forgot to realize that Maxine depri did <v Speaker 4>get recently married, so from the rumors I've heard, it <v Speaker 4>seems as though she's going to be going on a <v Speaker 4>honeymoon and taking a bit of a break. Whether that's <v Speaker 4>true or not, I don't know, but that would make <v Speaker 4>a lot more sense as to why she dropped the title. <v Speaker 4>And I'm sure there'll be an opportunity for Maxine to <v Speaker 4>get the title again because she's done a really good <v Speaker 4>job in sort of improving and elevating herself as well <v Speaker 4>to the point where she can get into these matches <v Speaker 4>with people like Becky Lynch going for titles, So again <v Speaker 4>not against it at all. We then have a little <v Speaker 4>segment with Trick Williams debuting cutting up a promo with <v Speaker 4>Sammy Zain and he did the same thing with Randy Orden, <v Speaker 4>so I'm a massive fan of Trick Williams. I personally <v Speaker 4>prefer him as a baby face over a heel. But <v Speaker 4>him coming on to the roster and calling out the <v Speaker 4>big stars, Sami Zaying, calling out Randy Order, It's quite cool, <v Speaker 4>But yeah, I prefer him as a babyface. But again, <v Speaker 4>not too much on Trick Williams at the moment. The <v Speaker 4>most interesting thing I want to see with Trick Williams <v Speaker 4>is him actually go for the US title and challenge <v Speaker 4>Kamala Hayes and maybe we see a massive feud between <v Speaker 4>them because I think that would be awesome. Those two <v Speaker 4>have long history together in the n XT trick, Williams <v Speaker 4>is always the second guy to Kamla Hayes, so yeah, <v Speaker 4>maybe they will be something we can revisit. We then <v Speaker 4>had the next main event match, which was the Americanos <v Speaker 4>taking on the war Raiders. So the war Raiders are <v Speaker 4>one team again that just can't get on the main roster. <v Speaker 4>But look, the Americanos are making a great case to <v Speaker 4>potentially compete for the tag team titles. Maybe take on <v Speaker 4>the Usos. Who knows. I don't think they're at that <v Speaker 4>level there, but they get the victories here and it <v Speaker 4>was the right decision obviously, distractions from a Gunda Americano <v Speaker 4>followed by the head bat by I think it's Bravo. Yes, <v Speaker 4>it's Bravo that won and took the pin, and awesome <v Speaker 4>to see. The Americanos are real hot at the moment. <v Speaker 4>They're getting a lot of airtime on Raw and they're <v Speaker 4>getting victories on main events, so it's good that they <v Speaker 4>continue to push them and just make the Americanos look <v Speaker 4>a bit strong, stronger. Obviously they do their best work <v Speaker 4>at Triple A, but they're still doing really good jobs <v Speaker 4>on the main roster too, and look the war Raiders. Unfortunately, <v Speaker 4>they just can't really catch a real break and compete <v Speaker 4>for the titles at this point, so it kind of <v Speaker 4>makes sense why they lost because they're not really doing match. <v Speaker 4>But at the end of the day, what we saw <v Speaker 4>was probably the right decision, so yeah, the Americanos get <v Speaker 4>the victory there. We then had a little bit of <v Speaker 4>a promo between Guntha and aj Styles, with essentially AJ <v Speaker 4>Styles slapping Gunthera, and that led for a match that's <v Speaker 4>going to be happening next week in Dusseldorf on in <v Speaker 4>Gunther's home or not hometown in his language speaking town. <v Speaker 4>He's obviously from Austria, probably the closest place to Germany there, <v Speaker 4>so I wouldn't say hometown, but I'm sure a lot <v Speaker 4>of Germans will be supporting Gunthera, but a lot of <v Speaker 4>Austrians will also potentially be traveling to Dusseldorf to watch this. <v Speaker 3>So it's the. <v Speaker 4>First time that aj Styles and Guntherha have taken on <v Speaker 4>each other. I would have thought that this match could <v Speaker 4>have been something of a prle given that I think <v Speaker 4>Kunda's going on this legend killing run obviously retiring John <v Speaker 4>Cenapp not retiring, but beating him in his last match. <v Speaker 4>Beating Goldberg in his last match, you would have thought <v Speaker 4>that could have happened the same if AJ styles and <v Speaker 4>this match could have been a bigger payoff, But who knows. <v Speaker 4>It will really depend on the outcome of the match <v Speaker 4>between AJ and gunther I do suspect Gunthera will win, <v Speaker 4>is just how he'll win, and if AJ wins, what <v Speaker 4>will happen because I think this is probably something that <v Speaker 4>could last a little bit longer than what it shows <v Speaker 4>to be. But yeah, I'm excited for that one. I <v Speaker 4>think it's going to be a very good match in <v Speaker 4>terms of just wrestling displays, And yeah, we'll see how <v Speaker 4>that goes and we'll obviously probably review that next week. <v Speaker 4>We then get the main event, which is the World <v Speaker 4>Heavyweight Championship match between CM Punk and Bron Breaker. And <v Speaker 4>this is where I'm going to start complaining the fact <v Speaker 4>that CM Punk won clean here is extremely disappointing. I <v Speaker 4>know that CM punk is probably supposed to win the title, <v Speaker 4>but I just feel like it wasn't groundbreaking enough and <v Speaker 4>it certainly puts bron Breaker away from the title. So <v Speaker 4>that's what disappoints me in this. I think there should <v Speaker 4>have been a way to protect bron Breaker here, especially <v Speaker 4>considering the fact that the whole year you've hyped bron <v Speaker 4>Breaker up to be your future star and someone that's <v Speaker 4>going to take the business to a new level, and <v Speaker 4>then you just have him lose cleanly to Cem Punk, who, yes, <v Speaker 4>probably deserves to win. They probably have big plans through <v Speaker 4>Matt WrestleMania, But at the same time, you can't let <v Speaker 4>your superstar, young superstar lose like that, I think, And <v Speaker 4>I think he just puts him away from winning the <v Speaker 4>world title or getting close to it. Who knows, it <v Speaker 4>could be wrong. He might clean up at Elimination Chab <v Speaker 4>or Raw Rumble, but I don't feel confident for that <v Speaker 4>after this. And look, everyone can complain about the bochers <v Speaker 4>that were there, but at the end of the day, look, <v Speaker 4>bro Breaker is new. I'm still young, He's still got <v Speaker 4>a lot to learn, and that was probably one of <v Speaker 4>the biggest matches of his career, so you can't expect <v Speaker 4>him not to be nervous and wanting things to go well. <v Speaker 4>So Siampunk did a great job in sort of making <v Speaker 4>him look good in the spite of those botchers. And look, man, <v Speaker 4>I don't really care about bochers as much like they happen. <v Speaker 4>You know, things happen, People make mistakes. Matt did a <v Speaker 4>perfect playoff analogy which I liked there. Sometimes when you <v Speaker 4>get to the playoffs, it's a lot of pressure, and <v Speaker 4>going for the World heavyweight title is basically the playoffs. <v Speaker 4>So I mean, bron Breaker did a great job to <v Speaker 4>get into the main event, and I know could have <v Speaker 4>done a better job in protecting him there, but nevertheless, <v Speaker 4>Sampunk is still World Heavyweight Champion, and look, I'm not <v Speaker 4>against it, and I guess Look, we have no hype <v Speaker 4>up for vote to WrestleMania. We actually don't know what's <v Speaker 4>going to be happening, and I think that's what makes <v Speaker 4>things exciting. We'll probably get more clarity at the Royal Rumble, <v Speaker 4>but at the moment it's great like we start the <v Speaker 4>new year and we don't know what the WrestleMania matches <v Speaker 4>are going to be, especially given the fact that as <v Speaker 4>I mentioned at the start, Drew McIntire dropped the won <v Speaker 4>the title and Cody dropped the bell and Seampunk's World <v Speaker 4>Heavyweight champion beating bromb Breakers. So yeah, lots to see <v Speaker 4>what will happen for WrestleMania and just like that, we're <v Speaker 4>preparing for another WrestleMania. Quite crazy if I'm honest, But <v Speaker 4>that's another episode of the Main Event. Review wrapped up. <v Speaker 4>Thank you very much for tuning in, guys, and I'll <v Speaker 4>catch you guys next week. Cheers. <v Speaker 1>Thanks for listening to the WWE podcast.
