The One Where Laurie Kilmartin Laughs in the Face of Death
Emmy-nominated writer and comedian Laurie Kilmartin spent 11 years making Conan O’Brien laugh, made the entire country laugh on Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central and The Late Late Show. But what did she do when her father was dying in hospice? She made herself laugh, live-tweeting the dark and absurd reality of his final days to the entire world and wrote an entire stand-up special about it. Laurie joins Holly to talk about finding the funny in grief, losing both of their parents, and all the bizarre things nobody prepares you for. This is the episode you should hear long before you think you’ll need it - because sometimes finding the funny in the most painful, inappropriate moments is exactly what gets us through them.
