M hm. Oh boy, it is Tuesday, January thirteenth, twenty fifteen. You are listening to the Giant Bomb Cast. Oh boy, we're here talking on the Giant Bob Cast. Oh boy, Goad Zukes. Everybody's thrilled, good word, thrilled to be here, boy worshiping at this monument to audio recording that we have built. That's right on the Giant Bomb Cast. I made mine out of mashed potatoes, m so gravy. This podcast means something. Did you include a gravy? Well, it's important it does. Oh yeah, what does it mean? It's not for me to say it's truth. Yeah. If you're looking a little sunburned on one side of your face, yeah, I can't really talk about it. Just for as far as you're concerned. I was just driving in a truck. It's because you've you've been bathing in the radiance of the knowledge that we dispense. It's true here on this podcast on Brad Shoemakers on half of Me. That's Jeffersman, Hello, Rush Can Yes, Dan record, Hey there, Hi, Hello, our things room real good good? Is anybody not doing well? If you were not doing well, would you tell me? Yeah? Would you. Yeah, yeah, you'd be honest about it. I mean, I didn't get a great night of sleep last night. Okay, if you want, if you want to buy an honest I'm here for real talk. I don't want look, I don't want your your social niceties here. Yeah, keep your vague pleasant trees. Let's get down to it. I had a little bit of trouble. I had a little bit of trouble sleeping between the hours of like three and five. That's a bad time to time. It gets you when you're having troubles, like is your mind just racing? I can't get comfortable in bed? And is it hot in your bedroom? It'll I I'm hot wherever I go, as it turns out, sousing those those performance sheets, No, no, we we ditched the performance sheets. It was just it snags on your hair, which is not a thing you want to It was ripping the hair out of my legs. You gotta read the Amazon reviews for these things. It like if you have a couss on your feet, they catch on. That's the worst. Not high performance. Yeah yeah, but it's meant to be. Like the moisture wicking technology that is often used in workout shirts, but they made sheets out of it and h yeah, what's the thread count? It was beyond it's beyond thread counts. Yeah no, yeah, no, that's those have been permanently retired. I mean, if if you want to perform, you gotta approach it like an Olympic swimmer. You know, that's remove remove all of the body hair exactly. You lose You lose a quarter pound. If you want to make weight, shave off all your hair. That's a quarter pound, right there. I've been taking Nike Will last couple weeks since I've been sick. Yeah. Sure, I guess it does help to paul asleep, I think, but then like I wake up and I feel gruggy. Ash. I don't like to fucking train wreck, can't awful. I cannot take night quill. It makes me have dreams when I'm awake. Yeah, I don't. I don't. That sounds terrible. Yeah, it's it's bad. Describe that. I remember, like last time I took it. I think I was in like high school. They call that hallucination. Yes, it's kind of so it's it's it's less like seeing things and more you're not clear where you are in time. You're just disoriented, is what you're saying. Yeah, so like were you doing like weird research chemicals before they got scheduled or something they just got put on a shelf with a night Quill badge. Yeah, I don't know, but like I woke up and couldn't tell if I was was awake or if I had even gone to sleep, or if this was a dream or if I had had a dream. It was very confusing. It's not that bad for me, but fun, It's just more like I'm confused and it was what I'm Yeah, I definitely wake up out of it, uh Nike will Yeah, Yeah, for sure, Like I wake up feeling like I slept, but at at what costs? Yeah? Yeah, Like I affective. You have to you have to realize that all sleep is not created equal. There is such a thing as bad sleep, Like drunk sleep is bad. And then yeah, that's like Nike Quill six sleep has been terrible. But if you don't take it, you're gonna wake up coughing and shit like every couple hours, and that's bad sleep. So you go in from night quill, you're making a deal with the devil. Yeah, it's rough. I've been feeling sluggish in the last couple of weeks. But what's the active ingredient in What is it about Nike will that? Is it the same stuff that's in like Benadrilla. I don't, I don't know. I'm thinking, what do I call that his benz It's not DXM, So you can't think of those start with took it down or whatever? Is that decks deck from man. DXM is the stuff that is in robotussing the people people that had people abusing robotusts. Yes, could you you can't like cook that down or anything? Can you? Can you? Yeah? Like a powdery don't don't do this? Yeah, Crystal robot? Uh yeah a friend of mine? Uh did in fact do that? Was that experimental? Or is that like a time honored street tradition because I've never heard of this rock? No, I mean people had, Yeah, I mean, hey, he read about it on the internet like all good fucking soft drugs stories. He was not blazing a trail in No, No, he's robots and misused rudimentary chemical chemistry classics and then use that to fucking cook down and he was he bowing up on his titration something like that. I don't know what's the street name. Uh, they will call it robo you could go robo tripping. Wow. Really But the thing is so that's that they put you know, robotust and if you drink a whole bottle of robotusts and you will throw up. Also, don't fucking do that. That sounds I've literally like, I can't, I can't speak from experience. I've never done this. I've it sounds like a fucking terrible idea. But yeah, there's there's a substance in certain blends of robotussing that you know, if you're taking enough quantity, we'll have a light effect on you. That is sometimes that some people seem to desire at a point where they take the bad with the good and just drink whole things robotussing, which don't fucking do that. It just sounds horrible. Why with the foot why would you fucking do that? Seriously, there are message boards all over with these like you know, backass ways of getting high. Like I had a friend in college that I remember. We were at the grocery store and he bought a shipload of Hall's cough drops. Okay, smashed him with a hammer in my dorm room. Yeah, and like put him in a bowl and try to like light the bottom and inhale the fumes or something, and then work out for him. Didn't work out, all lightheaded. I don't think anything happened. So the next day he read that if you eat a whole container of nutmeg, you'll get real high. So he went to the grocery store again and bought a bit. And this is always just funny for me to watch that. Did you get to a point where he was smoking banana peels? And I feel like that's the next step in the nutmeg thing. Like, once you've bought into the nutmeg myth, you find yourself like, well, we need to dry these banana peals just right. When I was in elementary school, we took grapes and hid them out on the playground, thinking that they would ferment, just like whole grapes. Yeah, we smashed them up so the juice was there, and we left it out in a place where it would get some sun, thinking that this would advance the fermentation. And then like three months later we went back and tried to drink it and don't do that. We didn't get drunk. We got fucking sick. Oh man. We also found a can at chewing tobacco in the in the field, and then I thought, well, I'll try it and then just put it in my mouth, chewed it up and swallowed. Don't fucking do that. How would I know how to fucking chew tobacco? I was fucking eleven. Oh, this whole podcast, it's just one long cautionary tale to people still too, Like, do you guys know anyone that choose tobacco on a regular basis? I feel like when I was a kid, I saw it a lot more again than like the nineties and candis, But there's two hiptories that do it. Sure, I don't know anything like hipsters are probably still in the snuff. I don't what's different. I don't think the chewing tobacco snorts snuff, I don't think. I don't think chewing tobacco has any kind of cultural cachet. I'm sure baseball players and the people that love them are still sort of into chewing tobacco. That sounds like the grossest thing in the world. Yeah it's yeah. Yeah. My dad for a while chewed skull bandits, which there was the ones that come into little pillows, so it's not you're not spinning out actual tobacco. It's all encased. It's like a tea bag you stuck on. Yep, tastes like tobacco. I guess, yeah, I mean, but it's like it's winter green or you know, they have different flavors for it or something. My dad chewed for a while after he quit smoking. Yeah, this is my dad day, you know. I said like, hey, you should stop smoking, and he said, okay, for you, I will, and they started chewing and that for a while. Said like, I'm gonna get mouth cancer, so I'm gonna go smoking cigarettes. And I said, all right, that's fine. Like cigarettes smell gross. I can't imagine like one to chew that taste or that smell. That sounds like the grossest thing in the world. It's probably very gross, but it's probably in my mind. I imagine it's like chewing beef jerky. Yeah, that's great, because that's what it kind of looks like. I like jerky stuff, the chew the cut up jerky stuff that you can pretend is chewing tobacco, right, and then when they when people spit it out, it looks like that jerky juice. So I was like, oh, that's probably it's probably pretty good, but I don't think it tastes like that. If I could learn how to spit into a spatoon and make it make that noise, that would maybe make it worth it. A friend of mine had a spatun in his bedroom and I remember going up there to play video games with him, and he lived at home with his parents, and we were under eighteen, and he had a spatun and I was like, what the fuck are your parents? Did? Like, how is this? It was? It was a very surreal. It's very different from my upbringing, and I was like, what the fuck is going on? Also, the spatun was full of vomit, and god knows it's because his friends, you know, were drunken hooligans who had done god knows what in the spatuon if I remember correctly, They eventually dumped the spatun onto someone's pickup truck a form of revenge. The number of times I've leaned back from this microphone and made a loud exclamation of some kind is at least three already, like ten minutes. Yeah boy, Everyone who would shoot tobacco now just vapes. M Yeah, Yeah, I was walking behind the guy who's vaping. You see it all over the place right here. Yeah, it's pleasant. It's far more pleasant than cigarette smoke. Yeah. I let a friend of mine vape inside the house sometimes, and I worry that sometimes his like fucking marshmallow, bubble berry, fucking banana scented whatever is getting into my couch. But so far it's all berries, tobacco ja. They sell it in like you can get ecto cooler, Like there's a zillion different flavors for this ship, and then you can pick your percentages of how much like it's it's like craft beer. It's it's like it's the perfect thing for Like it's like craft beer and coffee. Like people can be super douchy and into it in a really creepy way. I am. It was with a couple of people who were comparing watted is Yeah, in their devices. What's your rig? Bro? Tell me about your rigsul coil jacket up to ninety. I like the ones that look like real cigarettes, but beyond that, like real cigarettes that glow at the end. Yeah, like but blue that's like some blade runner type shit. Sure. I like the one that looks like a freaking lightsaber with like I don't know, metal and copper coils or whatever. Why it Because it looks like someone is using first generation technology. It looks like the sort of thing that will eventually be compact and and not look like that. Sure, but right now looks like someone's holding a fucking steam engine up to their face. Right. Aren't those things even legal on planes? Though? I really highly doubtstically they probably could be, right, but I doubt that. I don't. I don't. I don't think they're fully regulated by the FDA. They're not. That's that's that's I think that's maybe the larger issue is that, you know, it's like people rolling around with these liquids and juices and eat eat getting their e liquids. Uh Darth vapor. Really, I don't know every every single fucking like, Yeah, vape culture is disgusting, and it's just like every single like vape shop has a dumb name and fucking there are people out there reviewing different rigs, like the YouTube community. You want to have some fun, go watch fucking YouTube videos about vaping. All of them fucking suck. I'm sorry, I haven't. I don't think I've moved off of grocery halls. Yet. Yeah, no, that's the grocery hall videos. That's a deep hole. H u l it's a deep it's a deep hole. There's there's a whole movement of people on YouTube posting videos. It's out boxing videos for fucking groceries. Yeah, it's like I just got their normal, I just got home from the grocery store. Here's everything I bought. Theoretically, a lot of the grocery doing it because they are also like in the middle of losing weight and they're like, here's the diet. I'm going to a health journal thing. Yeah, okay, so there's that aspect to it, but I don't think all of them are doing watching those though, mean a lot of graphic a fair number of people judging by the views. Wow, yeah, no, there's I mean, yeah, you we talk about like internets that we have no real window into Pinterest that sort of thing. Like there's a whole world on YouTube of uh you know, like you know, you've heard of like mommy bloggers and stuff like that, but they're like makeup bloggers and there's like beauty and stuff like that. Like you know, this this seems gigantic, very similar to that. In some cases they're they're like makeup ttorial channels with millions and millions of scribers. A makeup YouTube lady was on Dancing with the Start. Yeah yeah, yeah, sure, yeah yeah. You see people like that on talk shows and stuff. Wow. Yeah. Vaping. I I'm I of two minds of it, because on one hand, it's so futuristic that I should like it by default, because it is replacing cigarettes with a more futuristic crazy thing, and did the healthier Let's be honest, we don't know. We don't the chemicals and that thing that are actually murdering everywhere that's giving fuzzy lung or whatever. The guess that's okay, but at least it's removing the known carcinogens and stuff of stuff. Yeah, in theory, you know, yeah, we'd like to think that it's better for people. Vaping always refer to E. Siggs or is that like a weed thing too? I feel like I've heard people people Okay, we can do that. Oh yes, what can it do? Let me tell you about the industrial applications of hemp? Oh yeah, oh yeah, vaporize. What guy's name stand good? No, No, the guy that we saw on the oh William forsythe yeahsyth. Yeah, I like that guy. I'm I'm with you on that stuff, Like it seems like a good idea, but then people then the people immediately used it, and then we got a hold of it and made it really made it loathsome Yeah, it's like, oh, you're you're Oh wait, the human race, as it turns out, is not mature enough to handle any form of technology. Spear bring it all back around. Yeah, but I want to believe that that vaping is better for people. It probably is better for me, as someone who doesn't want any part of it to inhale that and than actual cigarettes smoke. So I'll give them that. I'm with you. I want to believe that you played some video games this past seven days, Jeff, believe whatever you like. I choose to believe that you're here to talk about the issue of the day. I've gotten the video games is the issue of the day? Video game? Oh okay, all right, yes, gosh, you know. I continued to play a little bit of war Frame after our show on Friday. I spent some time over the weekend playing some disco dodgeball yes or rope Robot oh god, I still haven't committed it to memory. Yeah, that's it, which is quite a bit of fun. Yeah, it's neat and looks. I love it's look of the environments and stuff. The robots themselves I think are not perfect, but it was kind of endearing. It is, but you know, I don't think it meshes too well with the environments. It's it's it's a weird Uh. It creates this weird expectation because it feels like first person shooter. Yeah, but then you can't always shoot, you know, right, but you have to come to go out and find the ball balls you can't just keep and then the balls shoot with trajectories and arc right and bounces and it's like a lot of stuff. It's like shooting like an old school quake rocket launcher because you have to lead the target. And then because your robots on a wheel, it has momentum, so you have breaks, right and stuff to deal with. And yeah, it's a it's a fascinating game. It's in early access. I don't know, it's pretty cheap. Don't mes sell it in four packs too? Yeah? I believe they do. Yeah, it's it's it's uh, it's quite promising. Yeah, did you do any more of that that online mode that I hopped into on the show? I mean it just kind of rotates match types, right, Yeah. Now, I kind of played the tutorial and just Marquade mode and stuff like that, kind of prepping myself for more play of it later. It seems like the rotating thing would be better for a game like that, like just watching you do it on UPF because it was a kill Zone two that tried to do that with Yeah, no, it kills in two, yeah, and three and yeah shadow Fall or whatever. Yeah, they have the war Zone mode or whatever that like at the end of an objective, it tabulates a winner and then best of seven takes it and they go through all the modes. Yeah, it was an interesting idea. I don't know why I didn't like it that much. Like you know, when I play at FPS, like you know, if I'm playing in Call of Duty, I'll like just want to do kill confirmed or domination or something. But with that dodgeball thing, like seeing it rotate through things looked like, yeah, fit for that game. Yeah, well, it rotates through and that seems like a server option or something, you know, where you could go like oh, rotate through modes or don't if I had to guess, But I like that mode specifically for kill Zone. I don't think I would want that option or I don't think I need that option in Call of Duty, Yeah, because I kind of come to them for a kill zone for a game that, like I didn't necessarily love the shooting in and all the other stuff, like that mode gave me something to hang onto and I kept playing it longer than I would have otherwise, some identity for its multiplayers. Yeah, yeah, so yeah, I don't know. I thought that was that was pretty inventive, and I'm surprised, like more games haven't done that because now that I think about it, it might actually be kind of cool. And Call of Duty yeah, I mean, it could just be like a playlist option, because it's like, I mean, the maps are all the same. It's not like it's yeah, just as a playlist of just like rotation or you know, well, they have stuff like what is a big team battle that like cycles between kill confirmed and domination, but that bumps you back out to a menu before going back in. It's not this like on the fly, like you're gonna stick with the same team best of seven. We're gonna go through these modes. Let's see what happens like that. That's you know, there's an element of randomness to that that I like. And and yeah, I don't know, I thought that was kind of cool. Yeah, that was a cool more people should do something with that. Dodge Ball seems promising. Yeah, Dodgeball does seem promising for as early as it is. I think it's version like point three eight rested. Yeah, and it's already like, you know, it's fun, it's got the core of it. Yeah, it's already fun and approachable. It seems. It seems like it is popular enough to where, you know, with it being a multiplayer game, that you can find a match. So that's that's always good. Let's see what else I've been messing a little bit more, kind of wrapping up some trophies in the Arcade Archives collection from our friends at Hamster. Hamster continuing to do good work. Yeah, well, I mean sure they're emulating stuff. It's it's well emulated. It's it costs too much money, but I'm already on this road. Are what are those things? Eight dollars apiece? It's like eight and twenty yen pop. Wait, I thought they started coming out here. Rygar came out here and that's it. So I don't know if that was like to test the waters or what the deal was. But they put out Raygar here and none of the rest, and they swap swap the ROM set. They put the English ROMs into it for the English release, whereas you know, it's the Japanese ROM set for for the Japanese release. So I own two copies of Raygar the trophy. The trophies do not duplicate, so as everyone should. Yeah, well, yeah, backup exactly these digitals. My digital might burst into flames. What am I to do? But Double Dragon came out recently, So there, that's a well emulated copy of Double Dragon. You could play on a PlayStation four. Okay, that's cool. That's cool. That's that's a cool thing to have. A Gradiest is coming out pretty soon here. Scramble just came out, So I think that it's a bad value. So they are they must not Hampster must not be the right holders for any of these games, right, they must be out there getting Yeah, they're out there securing rights from Koe Tech MO. In the case of something like ragar Konami, like they're doing the deals with the g modes to get access to the Data East stuff, Like they're they're out there and making that happen. So Double Dragon is Data East or was right? Wait it was Tito Tito, but it was Technos Yes, what was American Technos, just like there was American Sammy Yes, and then Tito licensed it from Technos for release in the US. I think that'd be great if all, if that was just the standard naming convention for Japanese developers. American Sea opened US offices one second sam emerged, that should have been their opportunity to go from Sega of America. They really fucking missed the boat. American Saga, like the song fucking writes itself right right, where's ironically Sega was founded here? Right? This is a rare case. Yeah, American Nintendo, Japanese Sega. That's the way to go with it. Yeah. I don't know. I like that that stuff's coming out, even if it's too much money per game, and that should really be a collection. But they have got they've got eighteen games out now. Uh, we we have quick looks of all of them on the site. So if you want to see us playing old arcade games. I guess it's it's been me and Dan every time. Basically a modern day game room. I don't know what that is. What's kind of tell me about game room? It sounds exciting this idea I had a few years ago. Okay, you would build this like virtual interface. Okay, Okay, it's gonna look like an arcade. Okay, I love arcade. It's three D arcade like you've got it. Okay, I've got You've got uh, You've got an embodiment in the world. And I'm thinking it's an avatar. Like an avatar. Yeah, you would, you would build an avatar. It won't animate or anything else. It's spun in. We're working on that. I haven't. We haven't licensed the middleware yet. Uh. But the avatar is gonna look like you but like me. Yeah, it's gonna have all all your arcade favorites. What if we call it memm like amy, Well, you probably can't trademark that because that's a common word. You probably spell it weird m E. Yeah, here we go. All right, let's go with that. Man fucking game room. Sunset Riders still waiting on Sunset Riders. It's in there, right, Yeah, like it's in the install, isn't. Theoretically people have a copy of Sunset Riders on their hard drive off their three sixty if they downloaded that pack a game, like, did anybody with the means ever, like unpack that thing and see what was in it? I don't know, I guess not. Can you still download Game Room on Xbox I believe so. Yeah, you can still pay for all the games? I wonder probably. It almost had like a stupid like quarter thing where you like and yeah, play like a life. If you wanted to play one game, you could put a token in it and then you could buy tokens and play any game with tokens, or just buy the games outright for three dollars a piece or whatever it was. I remember. They all had like some achievement points, so they had medals in the in the games, they had medals that were part of the overall game Room thing. So game Room had a progression to it based on how many medals you got, and there was the same medals for each game, which was just about as lazy and shitty as the trophies and all these arcade archives games lay Yeah, yeah, it was like it was like time spent. It was like play this game for this long to get a gold medal, and then there's one for score, and then there was one for I guess it was it was there was one for time of like length of game, individual game, and then overall time spent. I think we're the other two if I remember right. But all the trophies in the Arcade Archives games on PS four are the same, and all but two of them are you going through the menus, like, you get one for popping up the menu, you get one for scrolling to the end of the end game manual, you get one for accessing the settings screen, you get one for resetting the rom man and then there are two. There's one for achieving a high and then there are two, but really there's only one. There's you get one for achieving a high score in the game, which they don't tell you what that score is. It's usually like if if the game has a listed high score, it's usually I think you have to beat that, and then you there's another one for uploading that score online, which which means the screen that appears in all Japanese after you complete a game, you need to make sure you hit circle, otherwise you won't upload it and you won't get the trophy. And so you have an account that if somebody just looked at your trophies, it looks like you bought a PS four just to play old arcade games and yeah yeah yeah, Anime majng and and all these Arcade archives games spend to do that, Yeah, something like that. Yeah, uh no, not for it. Oh it's not that much. Well, yeah, I bought a yeah, I bought a PS four that someone looks at that account. Yes, someone just bought a PS four strictly to play Double Dragon and these other games. I never knew about effectiveness of that elbow until I watched you play. Oh yeah, the the elbow and Double Dragon is just broken. It's great, Yeah, it just you can you can walk through that game with that stuff. And then I've been fiddling with war Frame a little bit more so. I think I saw you playing it on the PS four the other day. Yeah, yeah, I just I had never seen it on PS four, so I loaded up to see what it looked like and can you log in with your No. At one point, they were allowing people to transfer characters from PC to PS four, but it was only while the versions were in sync, and that was like a two week window a year ago or whatever. The fun it was just development being what it is, so yeah, I don't know. I played through kind of the very early parts of that again on PS four and then decided, like, no, why would I play a free to play a game on multiple platforms when I have like currency invested in this other one. This is dumb. So I was interesting to see it, but I was pretty bummed when you told me they weren't in sync somehow, but I had for reasons I won't really get into you. I became aware of the weekend of how much like the platform holder kind of overhead, yeah, would interfere with that process. Uh that just even for a live free to play game, like pushing updates through SERT, it's just always gonna Yeah, it's always gonna make consoles lag behind me. And I don't know how much of it they have to SERT because in the case of Warframe and war Thunder and some of these free to play games that are on consoles like they have, they they have patchers built in that are not the system level patches. So he's got the same thing. Yeah. Yeah, So when I launched war Frame, even though I just it was a fresh download of it, it downloaded it downloaded a patch as part of that process, a PS four like system notification patch. But when I launched it, it still was like, all right, we got to download another the two gigs. What the fuck were you doing before? Just give me the get all of it. Why wouldn't you get all of it? Oh, I can't imagine they get to circumvent any of the policy stuff just because it downloads in a different format. I thought that was the idea that they having these patchers in the games, probably at least supposed to Yeah, it was at least supposed to kind of move things along. But but yeah, yeah, you can't have you know, then you have a case where like, oh, some rogue employee pushes a patch live on PS four that bricks PS fours. You know, like, it's all sorts of weird nightmare scenarios that I'm sure that they would like to avoid live games on consoles. Probably not the easiest thing to keep going, No, I guess not if I had to guess. Yeah, I hope that stuff gets easier though. Yeah, And then we played some Poio Poyo Tetris for a quick look, and I've been wanting to play more of that what I just imported that it is. I mean the name is fairly self explanatory, but please go on. It is Poyo Poio Tetris. Saga released it in Japan for First person Shooter's Yeah, first person shooter anime themes with dating elements. Yeah, it's a visual novel where you're dating a gun that has shaped like a Mega drive. I'd play that. Yeah, it is poil plo and it is Tetris. It's about all. It goes into one thing. It is out on Xbox one, PS four, Vita, we U three, DS three, but none of that in the US. But none of that in the US where you be Soft apparently has the Tetras license. All right, yes, of course, and Tetris Ultimate is what you get. What's the I should know this, But what's the state of uh PS four and Xbox one? The discs are absolutely region for inter region operability. Yeah, they just go both of them. Yeah, it's great. So we have the Xbox one version. That's that's awesome. That a friend of the Sight sent in and we took a look at that, and yeah, it's it's crazy, man, it is fucking nuts. But yeah, so it's it's yeah, it's so, it's it's region free. I mean, the Vida's technically region free if you have to do weird account swapping stuff. Well, but if you had a physical copy, that wouldn't matter. It's a case where like, well, so, the weird catch here is that they aren't selling this game digitally for whatever reason. That's how I've been buying all these you know, Double Dragon and all this other stuff. Is I have my Japanese ps AN account, I go to to an import site and pay them for a scan of a Japanese points card that I then punch in to get points and then buy the games. I was all psyched and all ready to buy Poyo Tetris that way. But for whatever reason it is, it is only available via retail. I thought all games, I thought that was kind of a yeah, well like Skylanders wasn't but that required external heartwall. Yeah sure, you know, you need the portal power. Even Infinity there's a digital version of that. That's like a weird twenty dollars thing you can get. But yeah, so, yeah, so I was all, yeah, I was all set to buy it digitally and discover that you can't do that. And I wonder if that has something to do with the rights of Tetris in some weird way, if they're like, well, you can't have it digital, because then people would buy that instead of Tetris Ultimate and blah blah blah because it's such a better game and blah blaha, know whatever, whatever the reasons are, it is Poyo Poo and Tetris and you can play against each other. There are modes that mash up the concepts of both games into one in a fucking insane way. Yeah I didn't watch that whole quick look. Yeah, yeah, it's it's nuts so and it's kind of most basic mode. You pick a character and the character is aligned with either Tetris or Poio Poio. You can change it if you want, but by default, you know, the robot with the tet the tetromino on its chest is a Tetris leven robot. Although the fish loves Poil Pio the best stands reason Fish is apparently the best. I have to make a confession, I don't know what Pyopio is, Okay, Doctor robotics mean ba machine. Yes, I don't know what that is. Okay, it is puzzle Fighter, except there are no crash gems. If you connect four of the same color in any configuration, as long as they are touching and not diagonal, they will burst. Okay. So you create your combos that way, got it. That's it, that's it, that's it all right. Uh, And you drop garbage on other people, you know, in the form of clear poios, which then they have to burst through, you know, by bursting stuff next to it. Got it. So there's the crazy shit where it's like you dropped Tetris blocks through poio pios in that one mode. Yeah, yeah, so you have you have a mode where the blocks dropping switch between poios and trauma to Tetrimino to traumaa Tetris pieces. Yes, the old seven bag and uh and that yeah, that's crazy because yeah, the Tetris blocks will crush through the poios, but then the poios will kind of float to the top, so that the poios are almost garbage in your own Well, that make it hard for you to see how you're making lines. But you can also send junk other people's way by doing well at the Poio aspect of this sounds nightmarig fucking hellish. It's crazy, Like just keeping track of all this stuff sounds like up man, can you clear a line of poios no tetris? Yes, geez okay, And if you got really good, I would imagine that you could set up crazy combos to where you've got poios up top and you purposely like slam down a tetris piece to make a line and also push poios up to Matt there. Yeah, it's fucking like me and you, like we were talking about it. We have like a buzz for like thirty minutes after playing that game. It's awesome and possible. We should play it sometime this week wraps on some sort of live broadcast because it's fucking cool and it's just nuts. The last mode we played, I'm not even I'm not gonna walk you through. You just watch the video because it's it's just it makes that sound. It makes the mode we were just describing sounds sensible and sane. I don't know if I can handle that last mode anymore. Like I just bought the game, I'm looking forward to playing it, but that last one was almost too I don't know if it goes on for a long time, it's a fucking nightmare. It's hell. It's hell in Tetris form. Wow, And this thing just came out of nowhere. It is not the first Tetris game, I believe, but yeah, Sega has been mashing up the two games for a little bit, and uh yeah, this is the latest one. I guess I look forward to seeing this sounds exciting. It is. It is just it's phenomenal. And yeah, I mean it's so so we had the unfortunate side effect of this quick look win up and now it is harder to find that game from import shops. So I run on eBay for fifty eight plus free shipping. Yeah, it seemed viable. NCS has it still, yes, and yes, Asia seems to have PS four in stock as of this recording. Well, it's you know, it's it just came out, right, It's okay, So it's not like this is it's not like they're not going to do another run of copies or the other like we EU and three DS that stuff came out in February. Okay, Yeah, but those consoles are regional locked, so yeah, you know that's that's gonna be harder to deal with. I am excited to see this. It's cool. That sounds fun and we haven't even dug through every single menu. Yeah. Also, yes, oh is there a great announcer? Oh yeah yeah. It has anime yelling depending on which character you pick, So you know, when you pick the robot and he gets a tetric, this is great. There's doctor Dog. Yeah, there's the doctor dog, the dog doctor. Wait are you guys okay? Perfect? This is yeah, no, we are we are established this battle. This is the battle Tetris effect of making up names for all the characters. Yeah, great, this is This is exactly what I felt was missing when we were talking about vid Ribbon a few weeks ago, where like that import scene has dried up where ship was just coming out of nowhere. Yeah, this game feels good the way that that. Yes, it feels old that way. You're like, fuck, yeah, let's get through these menus. What do these do? I don't know, not only not only not only in its apparent level of craziness, but the fact that it just kind of came out of nowhere. Yeah, it's like it just showed up from Japan and here it is, and it's a beautiful game. Oh that's great. I think this is the first game I've ever bought from an import support. Yeah, yeah, cool. I did get a Tokyo Mawori. We're at a ninety two F from an import sight years ago. Yes, that's of course you did. Yeah, I've got I've got two of those, so John Woo that ship I've got. I've got the forty five USP Tactical from Metagre Solid the actual one it is. Yeah, yeah, what's got screw on silencer and got the silencer and the little flashlight I think, right or something like that. It does not have the tact light. It had a little like light. I think it's attachment or something like So I replaced the silencer on mine with the Oh no, no, that's on my MP five. I replaced the silencer on that. It's an MP five like SD three SD six. I forgot navy trigger. I replaced the silencer on the end of that with the tracer kit. So it's a tube that has it is a flashlight inside and when it detects the glow in the dark pellets traveling through it, it flashes no whow. So you shoot tracers if you want to take your fucking dumb air soft bullshit to a level where everything is slightly more expensive and slightly more cool. That's both of those things. It's fucking rad. That's totally ridiculous. That was fun running around a park in Tokyo. Were you were there that year? I don't think so, think so. It's like me and Ike and I mean, yeah, we were just fucking because you know, no one has guns in Japan, So we ran around a park with our air soft guns like after dark, just shooting each other and waving around like we we we packed heat in the streets of Tokyo. We packed realistic fake guns down the backs of our pants and walked around the streets of Tokyo because we're idiots. That's really dumb. It was really dumb. It's really dumb. It's pretty fun, it's pretty great. It was pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, all right, Well maybe I will also be on the hunt for a copy of this game in the near future. Yeah, it's it's it's pretty fantastic. Yeah, thinking about buying another copy of it for myself, and I think this Xbox One copy be the office or something like that. I'm debating, like what to get. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Too bad. There's no cross pull or across by or whatever. Yeah between, I guess you could just also get a Vita copy if you wanted to. But oh right, well, I mean Vita, like you know, the local multiplayer is gonna be the thing you want to do, so players four people, okay, Yeah, the multiplayer is the value of this thing. I guess the Vita those I think that's gonna that's gonna be worth that. With this there is some kind of online right, yeah, there's there appears to be, so you could probably do that kind And I bet playing online on the Xbox One version of that game is going to be a nightmare because there are twelve Xbox Ones in Japan. And yes, yeah that makes sense. I bet I will report back. Yeah, if this game sells well here in some weird way, then you'll probably be far more likely to find English speaking players of that game on the Xbox One, even though it's an import or not. And just use my microphone anyway. Sure, Yeah, how guys I asked this is fucking crazy, like thinking about the idea of feverishly trying to find a copy of this import game stock Port game and well, yeah, I mean it was in stock everywhere, Like idiot me, I probably should have fucking bought my PS four Like I bought a PS four copy yesterday before the video ran, like you you said, even had that thought. I was like, oh, I wonder, I wonder if we will have any impact on stock and yes, yeah, but the answer is yes, Spreddy should probably by it before this podcast said yeah, or like I said, I'll just wait for the next run. Yeah, sorry if we've got it in here. But this thing, Sega is done in a good long time. I heard you say the word NCS this morning, and like I had this three step process of like step one, like what is it? Oh, right, that's what NCS is. Step two like, wow, Incus is still in business. Yep, Step three. I was telling Jason that's where I bought my copy of kof two thousand from the Neo Geo. Like NCS was such an institution for so long, but then it feels it feels like play Asia. Can it came along and sort of eighth or lunch. Yeah, Well, so I like NCS because they're in New York and the shipping you end up paying it is theoretically a little less, so it's a little easier to get stuff overnight. It's just domestic shipping. You pay for it when you pay overnight from NCA, but you don't have to worry as much, right right, it's it's theoretically if it's in stock, it's already in country, right it's, and you don't have to worry about MS speed post and all this other stuff, like you know you're getting that ship. But also play Asia has been very reliable and just as a from what I remember, a huge inventory. Yeah, yeah, pretty wide range of stuff. Yeah, that's that's where I buy all my points cards or all of these Japanese high jinks. Yep, Jeff, you would probably know this. It always confused me in the nineties when I'd be reading video game magazines. There would be like these ads for these import things in the back of the magazines, and everything was like reasonable ish prices, except for every Neo Geo game was like six hundred dollars yep, And I never knew what the hell the deal was I paid. I mean that copy of kof two thousand was three hundred dollars new, Like that's how much those games called, Yeah, they just cost that much when they came out. Yeah, the Geo was six hundred bucks for the console and then three hundred bucks for a game. That's insane even in Japan. Yeah, yeah, it was. It was literally like parts costs. It was just the ROMs were so big. I mean you were getting the same you know, the same cartridge, lightly re retrofitted for use on a home console. It was the exact same software, exact same content. So they charged a frame would give to arcades. Yeah, so the cartridges are not interoperable, okay, the games were. Yeah, the games are the same. There's act there are converters you can do to like basically there's a bio switch on the home Neo Geo that you can install that turns it to arcade mode. Because both versions are on all of the cartridges. They just they bit flip. I think the contacts like a Turbographics like a Turbographics PC engine thing, where so the cars just don't just plug into one of the other. Because the cartridges for arcade operators were actually more expensive than that because theoretically they're making that money back and they didn't want the home the arcade operators to be able to go buy three hundred dollar cartridges and put them in, so they made them, you know, different, but the software was exactly the same and the hardware was exactly the same, so you were literally getting the arcade experience. Yeah, that's cool. I mean there were games where you could take what was that little memory card they made, You could take yeah, yeah, your home memory card to the arcade and plug it into the little memory card slot on the the arcade. Yeah, and because that was when you know, you think about that is like the era when SNST games and sixty four games that had just more fucking megabits in them were more expensive. Frona Sugger was like, I think it was eighty five bucks when it came out, Like the Fantasy Star four was one hundred dollars. Kon Country I remember, being pricey, secretive evermore just because they had more stories. Strider was eighty bucks and a fucking rip off. So these Neo Geo games were exponentially bigger than that. So yeah, so they end up being it was ridiculous, like it was a It was a bad fucking deal, especially when you look at the early Neo Geo lineup and you're like, who the fuck should pay three hundred dollars for Cyberlip, right, dude, I like Cyberlip. I like Cyberlip. It's not a three hundred dollars games, No, it was a put a quarter in it when I was at the arcade, like very feeah. Very few of those neo geo games are games that you look at and go like, I should pay three hundred dollars for this, And they're all like competitive games that you would continue to play for a good long time. Money Puzzle Exchanger, I actually I think I paid more than three hundred dollars for that. That game's great. I paid. Yeah, well it's pretty much well I won't get into Mark of the Wolves again, but it's pretty much. It's Yeah, it's pretty much fighting games, puzzle games. Some sports games. Yeah, are the ones like worth owning on the Windjammers, yeah, or you know, just like what's the soccer the robot cyper soccer. Yeah, yeah, stuff like that. You know. Yeah, there are great neo geo games, but not combat. The whole thing is crazy. Yeah, don't yeah, don't pay fucking three for NOM seventy five, Magician, Lord Super Spy. Yeah, SUPERSPI fucking awesome, But you know what Dyna might do because it kind of a better game, is it for the Genesis. It's sort of the same concept of like clear dude in the in the shot and the thing I want to I want to play the Super Spy. Now we should get that. I've got it, bring it in, bring it in. I've got it for my home console, so I have to bring in the home console instead of this MBS console. And but yeah, I bought a copy of that, which should do another neo stream. Yeah, I could bring in all that shit again. Excellent, Drew. I heard you say the words the talents principle this morning. I did. Yes, Okay, spanned on that specifically in regards to me handing it off to Dan to play. Yeah, for the quick look, Okay, he has since progressed past where I got in the unfinished we did earlier, and we will be doing a quick look of it proper this week, proper look at the full game. Yes, what was the what was the I forget what they called it. It was called They called it like a technical alpha or a It was pre release. I don't think this was an early access. I think it No, it was just a free download like I think people could just go download it. If I'm not mistaken, Okay, maybe maybe they were using it as a de facto demo. I don't know. It was a weird little like because it was only a month or two before he came out. They put out this free, pre released version of it. We did not play that version. Oh that's not what you did. The layed an unreleased like a preview build of that. I think, so, Yu, what I'm what I'm in any case, what I'm wondering about is that Okay, like that was not the full game, is what I'm getting at right, Okay? And I think, Dan, maybe you can speak to this, but like we barely scratched the cirtame is you were in the first like hub area during our unfinished and I'm past that and there's stuff. Yeah, it seems like it might be a pretty big game. Well hang on, I'm still in the tutorial area and that game is already getting pretty heavy. It gets tricky like well, I don't even mean puzzle wise, I mean just in general. That game is like a wallop upside the head of bizarre What okay, what break this down? What the fuck are you doing? I mean? It is a It is a puzzle game, very much in the style of Portal. Okay, it's first person puzzle game. The puzzles are broken up into more or less rooms, you know, like they're segmented very tightly. Is it similar mechanics between the rooms? Like, yes, I haven't. I don't want to hear. I don't want to get ahead of Dan. I'll tell you what I've seen and then let him fill in. But but uh, initially, what you're working with are basically doors that are made of force fields. Uh. There are sort of mounted gun emplacements on the wall. Uh. And then these little robots centuries that move around and will blow you up if if you get too close to him. Uh, and they scatter these little jammers that you can basically just pick up and point at whatever you want. They're little tripods, little little tripods with a little electrical jammer on it, and any jammer can be used to disrupt any of those things, so you can use it to shut off a force field, or disable one of the guns, or stop one of the centuries in its tracks. So there's a lot of cases. And then again I'm I'm maybe like fifteen puzzles into the game or something, but a lot of cases of like I'll need to disable that thing to get over here and grab a second jammer, and then like double jam this thing so I can grab the first jammer and go off, and you know, it's a lot of kind of leap frogging of the different obstacles and stuff like that. I like to double jam. Yeah. Yeah. Later on they introduced some things like have you seen the prisms yet, Brad? I think I might have. Just is that one of the things you unlock? Yeah, so you've unlocked these two things. So I unlocked that, but it didn't say anything about how to use it. It'll there will be certain puzzles, like when you go through the force field, it'll show the prism icon and so basically it's reflecting light, so it'll be like here's a blue light source and a red light source and you gotta, you know, wow, go to a thing on the wall to open up a force field or something. And it's one of the best puzzle games as far as giving you that feeling that Portal did this where you'll walk into a room and you just stare at it and you look at the tools you're given and you think, you know, like this is impossible, Like there's this must be a broken puzzle or something here, and you sit there and you try everything, and you stare at it and you just feel like an idiot, and then like an hour into working on one puzzle, you'll figure something out and feel like the smartest person on the planet. And it's it's so satisfying. It's I mean, it's almost like portal levels of cleverness with some of these puzzles. And yeah, I'm curious to see how big it is, because I've opened up a few new areas that are pretty big. It seems huge from what I can see of it. I don't know this. So they give you sort of a glimpse at what looks like the whole game early on in terms of you know, like, oh, I can see the two other hubs that I'm to go to, Like even if that is the extent of the game that's a ship tone of puzzles, it looks pretty long. And yeah, so the main hub area that that you're in, I got all the puzzle pieces and everything, but there's just two that I probably spent an hour on each of these puzzles yesterday and I can't life me figure it out, but like I don't want to look it up because I just ruins the whole point. Do you have to do them? Because it seems like they build in more puzzle kind of redundancy than you need to move on. It depends like so each area. So like I'm in this area now where there's like these two buildings and an elevator that goes up to the this other floor, and like to open up Building A, I have to get like these four red tetraspieces, and you know B is like these five green tetra spieces, so you can go in whatever order you want to get to, Like if you really want to go into Building A, it's like, okay, I'm just gonna go hone in on these pieces. So yeah, it's kind of open ended, but I think I bet to beat the whole game, you probably have to get everything interesting. I guess. Yeah, you're picking up sigils, So every every puzzle you finish, you pick up a sigil. At the end. They all look like tetraminos. Okay, like literally, I'm not saying they're similar, Like they are literally seven bagging that game. It's bizarre, and you have to put them together to open up doors to the new. Yeah, it's neat, like there's there's tons of like everything has like a lock on it, even like the Prism tripod that I said on locked earlier, Like that even has a They spell out the requirements really clearly for which sigils you need, so it's like I could. I looked at that thing and I was like, well, I need I need like two tea blocks and an L to unlock this. So I went and found puzzles that reward those things because they tell you up front what you're gonna get out of it, so you can kind of like target what you want to unlock right and just run around and do those puzzles first if you want. It's cool, but like the crazier, like the trippier part of that game. I don't know how much you saw this stuff, true, and obviously Dan seen more than I have, but it like it marries, like it kind of marries the digital and the divine in a really curious way. It's got a really cool look. Like it's gonna say, like, what's the aesthetic the whole? From what I've seen, maybe the changes, but the aesthetic is sort of like ancient temples and ruins kind of stuff, but I mean it changes, Oh it does, Okay. You have like a robot arm and there's terminals, so you're clearly a robot. Like you when you reset, like you hit a little button on your wrist to reset a puzzle, Like you look down and you have a robot arm. I need type it the terminals and stuff. Right there are these. There are these, so like you would probably be way into this. There was a ton of like seventies and eighties computing type stuff all over this game. Or you walk up to these old like Apple two E looking machines and basically sit at a command line and like interact with this text parsing kind of AI thing and like navigate directory structures and read emails that in text files and stuff like that. Like the writing seems really good. Like they're laying out all these kind of heavy philosophical concepts about you know, duality and all this stuff, and like I'm really curious to see where they're going with it. Like the second you walk into the game, you get like you get like this print out of like this boot sequence, you know, of just a bunch of like services starting up and like a text feed over top of this like choral arrangement at this like very heavenly scene of like a sunrise in the clouds, and then you're clearly a robot stepping into this temple and then like the voice of God proclaims like I am your creator. Like it's this really odd mission like mishmash of kind of like sort of Judaeo Christians stuff with like like AI sort of concepts like I don't know where they're going with it, but I'm super intrigued but too human. There's even like a kind of Garden of Eden thing going on early in the game to where Brad and I don't know if you've seen this, but like the God character is like I'll let you do anything you've got freedom, you're my creation. Just don't go in the tower, like don't descend the tower. So it's kind of this don't eat the tree, you know, Yeah, yeah, it's it's I'm really is the very next thing you do, you send the tower right into the tower. You can see wait, can you walk in there? I got to the first floor of the tower. I didn't and then I got yelled at, yeah, my God almost like God said, don't go in the tower. I'm not going in the tower Rebel Robot. But yeah, that game seems super interesting. Yeah. I really like what I've seen of it so far. I'm really excited to keep playing it. Yeah, sorry to talk all over you, Drew. Oh that's good, Dan, we need to talk about that. How far I mean, how far in? Are you not super? I have not played it since okay, okay, yeah, yeah, we'll be looking at it more this week for the quick look. Yeah, I just I don't know, I'm excited about any first person game that's not just you know, Space Shooter number forty seven or whatever. Sure, like they seem to have done some interesting stuff with the perspective and the it's crazy that it's that it's that from the serious sam people. Yeah. Also it's made by the people that made Serious right right, So like that's super bizarre. So at some point you're gonna semple tetris pieces to a gun. Probably then your robot is gonna be revealed to have no head and it'll just start screaming, and then the long, long piece is gonna come running at you and blow up the best character. Yeah, yeah, it just runs at you and explodes, yelling and explodes that games awesome. Yeah, yes, yeah, Serious Sam is awesome. I wish I enjoyed playing it more than I did. It's one of the best games to just go in and immediately turn on god mode and just like a giant cannon and like no clipping and I'm just shooting headless guys at the cannon and not worrying about anything, like I'm not in that game for the challenge or anything. When they rereleased them, it did not have the impact that I thought it would. It was like, oh, yeah, all right, I remember Serious Sam. That's cool. Yeah, yeah, this is this is a crazy pivot for them. We'll price see at forty bucks, but it seems totally worth it from what I've seen so far. I will recommend people check it out. Drew. Yeah, playing anything else, I spent most of my week last week setting up our our archiving system for twenty fifteen. Yeah, which is sure is an adventure game. Unto itself, it really is. Yeah, a lot of a lot of a lot of It's a text adventure, a lot of command line stuffy Linux. Oh are you are you administrating the yes peology, don't tell me what is the there's a name for that thing. Well, we've we've got two things. We've got the work raid, yeah, that we call super bomb Drop. Is that a SAM No, it's a network attached to storage Okay, server type thing. Those sections meaningless at this point. I don't know enough about them to distinguish. But that's the one that we work off off off of, so like we can put it's fast enough that we could just put video files from there and like just import those files directly over the network into a Hope premiere. You're working from that network drive and not a local copy exactly. Well, we can't do that with h bomb drop, which is the backup of super bomb Drop, okay, because that's just for storage, right and not for just redundancy right right. So what we had to set up and I'm doing this across like text message and uh stuff with Vinnie who's also like vpnning into some of the computers that he can do from New York, which is just nuts. So there's our capture machine is a computer in the control room. It captures the video files locally, then we transfer them automatically with a script to super bomb Drop where we work off of them there. Then they get backed up to bomb drop, got it? And then there are backups recorded in the control room that are then scrapped if they're not needed. Correct, And simultaneously, a MP four is live encoded in the control and that's what goes on the site. That's what goes on the site. Right. We only really use the full pro res files, right, uh, for Game of the Year or anything any needs editing, right right, So anything I didn't realize that anything you guys record in that control room is immediately getting backed up to that thing. Yes, I mean within a day or yeah, yeah, yeah, it'll show up there at night. That's crazy. Yeah, And you guys have the full uh, the full like archival quality, yes, footage of everything that's ever been done, right, with some exceptions. We don't currently archive the full res is of things like unprofessional fridays or like super long streams just because they're so unruly. They're like three hundred gigabyte files. Yeah, you know. And and for things like Game of the Year where we do use full res footage. It's also it also records four tracks of audio, so we can remove the vocals so we could see for quick okay, so we can use the quick look footage with the game audio without our audio baked in. That's forward thinking yea, and efficient. So we don't necessarily need live stream stuff because we don't really have that large of a need of full Reza unprofessional Friday's footage because not only is the game already small in that window, but we usually have larger size and higher quality video of that game already h and if not, it's a game that won't show up in Game of the Year, So we don't need high quality footage. And generally speaking, like we're not doing any sort of like wrap up of those sorts of videos that would require us to edit those right yet yet I have always had this time you never know, I in fact do know we are not currently doing that. Going all the way back to the beginning of the side, I always had a huge admiration for and a fascination with Vinnie's just like like a need to back everything up like I could not. I did not understand it at that point, having had like no experience in abruption environment. Just like I think that is a that is a production. Yeah, you must have that as a as a producer or you will completely screeze. I came, I came to realize that must have come from a bunch of experience on his part, because I was like, I was watching losing files like, oh, where is that really? Like we were constantly getting more shipments of hard drives in remember that even in the basement, thirty two terabytes in that thing, right, Like, and I remember like a Tatum or whoever seemed to just act like it was like expected. You know, it's like, oh, you need another round of hard drives. Here you go. You know. It's just like I was, like, the videos are already who cares? But videos up there that will never go away. It's on the internet. Yeah, but this this allows us to avoid the problems that you know, Like, so I got access to weird directories from game spot history a couple of days ago. There's an ack of my server full of demos and patches from the nineties. Wow. Wow, yeah, so I have access to I should send that to you guys for demo derby stuff because it's, uh, it's probably pretty crazy. And I want to say that there's a bunch of video in there too, but it's all site quality of the nineties in the two thousands and stuff, which is all super small. So in the event that people want super high res like ultimately we should be probably taking everything ideally we would, yeah, like the the final cuts of everything bare minimum up it fills up, like we couldn't accommodate all of prodestional fridays at so I quickly, but like so we at least have quick looks and stuff like that at a nice high resolution, we'd probably want to get to a point, you know, Like I think the thing we ran into is when we think when we did our first bump up in video quality, there was that process where we are we we moved providers and we had to like send all the videos to we were I've been sending them to Canada before, and then we moved to Amazon I think was what it was. And that was the process where it's like, okay, well we have all these Persona four things and it's like, oh, well that was an SD game, Like those files are super low resolution and compared to aren't they we recorded them in standard DEFF I think, yeah, compared to like what we would want now, which I guess is not that big of a deal because it is still a PS two game. You can only do so much. But it was prior to the tri cast. So the tri cast upscale stuff to seven twenty right right, right right, yeah, and then we were recording directly from the PS two at that point. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I've been watching, I mean, not to this is drawing a favorable comparison of ourselves, but I've been watching a bunch of the Star Trek the next generation, you know, the HT re release. No, but like it makes you we are eventually going to go back and remaster all the effects shots. Oh yeah, and recomposite everything and yeah, beautiful high definition. But yeah, like you know, it reminds you that you know, you can only you can only re release things like that or restore them to their original quality if you have the originals still lying around. You know. It's funny. There are a couple of places where, like every five or six episodes you watch, there will be one quick shot where they clearly couldn't find the original film and it'll it'll just be like a super low riz, nasty looking old like video shot. Wow. Like sometimes in the same scene, like it'll be one element, you know, right, like one element of this holiday camera angle, right, like one element of this Holidack shot. We couldn't find the film for so it's like this one character is like super low Riz in the middle of this nice weird like high Riz tin adp scene. It's weird stuff. Yeah. Did you guys see that story going around about the CNN final broadcast video. Yeah, all that shit was crazy. Yeah. I want that ship to be set up on like a dead man's hand, like some kind of trigger. It needs, Yes, it needs to be automated. If Nora ad traffic gets above a certain level, it auto broadcasts this, you know whatever. Yeah, because the way they've got to set it up now, like it relies on a person still being alive at CNN to run the video basically. So basically, when Ted Turner founded CNN back in the eighties, he mandated that. It's like he said, there was converence. It was like a famous line from him about like like we'll keep broadcasting until the world ends, basically, like I don't don't know what phrasing was, but like the idea was this, this news network is never going to stop reporting the news until there's no more news to report. And they made a video and I think he even said someone did ask him at some point like, well, what will you do when the world ends? And I will, We'll play and he's just like whatever the song is, Yeah, it's it's Nearer My God to the that's the hymn supposedly to him that the the band played as the Titanic sank. Wow, but it's just I didn't watch the video, but I guess it's just a bunch of shots of like the White House and all this stuff while that him is playing. Yeah, you see a band like the videos online? Yeah, someone finally dug it out of like their footage system. So the person, the person that wrote the original article about this, had been an intern at CNN for a while and they had dug it up. So like when this, Yeah, it reminded me of this when you mentioned like the old game spot servers, because this person had heard the urban legend about this for years and then went into CNN's big, sprawling like proprietary indexing system for all the videos and just got creative with the search and it popped right up. Apparently it was just sitting there with red text that is not to be run in six scept for end of the world like Domesday video. It's Yeah, it's awesome. It's completely innocuous if you don't know what it is, but once when you do know what it is, it's creepy. Yeah, it's like my I a goose bunch rup set the shot an SDT. The End of the World's gonna look like it looks like it came right out of the Cold War, which, yeah, it's literally eighties video. Yeah, of all this stuff. It is the it's like, yeah, it's like the Buzzer or something like if you had to if you had to like make that, like if you had to imagine what that video looked like and then make that, that's what would come out. Yeah, it's perfect. It's beautiful. Watch that. I want the world to end like two minutes long. I made a point of not watching it. I want to, you know, I don't want to be spoiled. I want to be fresh when it's a good call, when the world is ending. Like Ted Turner is not even involved in CNN anymore, but that mandate is still there and that video is still there. It's such a weird like cultural artifact. That's good stuff. Yeah, I did. How are you? How are you not? You got more backup? Brad I'm sorry. I played Elite Dangerous. Oh shit, how much of that is a game? And how much of it is a computer algorithically spinning out the same content over and over again. I hear it seems like the complaints so that that thing is really thin. Hmmmm, So I haven't played too much of it. Okay. I spent uh hours configuring my joysticks, of course, and I are, of course you did. How how do the knobs on those joysticks feel? Pretty good? Yeah? Pretty? Yeah? Pretty good? Actually, I don't think they're I don't think mine at home have any knobs. They have dials, they have trimm dials, So I have I have c H Products joysticks at home. We have a side Tech X fifty two in the office, of course. But yeah, not not because I spent hours at it, not because it was like difficult or tedious or there's anything wrong with like, you know, the the button assignment in Lead Dangerous, but I wanted to make sure that every button was in the right place. And you have to do that. You gotta you gotta kind of guess at first, like, uh, you gold enough of the game enough to know, like, okay, is this a vital control or is this like cargo scoop? Am I gonna need that? Is I gonna do? I? Does that need prime button placement? So you just kind of guess and then you start playing and then you're like, well, this would work a lot better if i's It's a big part of why I hate flight sticks and steering wheels for PC games. Yeah. Is that exact thing where you know there are so many different variations of the hardware out there, the developers never program or I mean they do here and there, but like the default control schemes are never present, right, so you're always spend those hours and long. Yeah. Yeah, because it's all a personal preference. Yeah, totally. But I like it when they can say like this is we have tested it with this, This is definitively how we think you should play it. You can change it ever you want, but look, this is probably gonna be right. The other thing is like you go back to a game that you haven't played in a while and you're like, yep, I don't what, I don't remember any of this. So I use my Adobe illustrator skills make a vector graphic of my choice stick and throttle, and then I labeled all the buttons and printed out cheets that I can seem smart no tate. So now I just have a file folder with like Elite Dangerous and DCSA ten and you know arrow fly fs. So that was fun. I like doing that, like that's yeah, that was fun for me, see and then I was like, oh, I guess I got to play another more power. Yeah. But I so I have track i R, which is really helpful because the menus in the game, like to operate, you know, the trading or whatever. Uh, Like you you physically can swivel your head and look at them in your like they pop up in your cockpit. So all the menus are are are in the world kind of like you know dead space, right uh, And having track i R available to move your head and choose those freeze up buttons that would otherwise be on your joystick for like select, you know, navigation, curtain, head left, find this. Yeah. So I finally got it all set up. Everything's still a little tweaks. That is there any kind of voice activation and kind of stuff built into the game. Not to my knowledge built in, but I think there are there are external things that you can apps you can run that will take your voice commands and turn them into keystrokes or macros or whatever. Its nuts. But yeah, that game works really well with track R and joysticks. It uh looks pretty good. It was not. I seem to recall kind of some bugginess when I was playing it unreleased, and I have not run into any bugs. The game has. The website has like a one page tutorial, and that was all I needed, Like I just read that and then did it, and then from there you kind of learn how stuff works by playing it. I haven't done a lot of combat yet. Uh there's stuff where like you're diverting power to your engines and you're uh, you know your systems, and then you can you can go into like you can run silent so you don't show up on any radar, but then you overheat because you're you're cooling vents are closed, so you gotta vent heat. But that that shows up on the right. Like I haven't touched any of that stuff. I just know it exists. All I have done basically is just like fly into a station, uh, pick up a mission, which is just I've just done like cargo halls and they give me, you know, some uranium or whatever and then I fly it to another system and then deliver it. That's all I've done. But apparently there are bounties, there are combat missions, like the Navy wants me to do something. So I haven't really jumped into the actual meat of the game, but it does sort of feel like one of those games where yes, we've got this giant world and it's populated with like computer generated missions, right. Yeah. I think that's the complaint I've heard from people is that because so much of that content is is just generated by an algorithm, Like it's not always great. Yeah, and there's not there's technically not that much of it, right so, I think, and there's there's not really any and there's no that I've discovered story so far. There's a you know, setting and stuff, but like you are kind of making your own. I think that kind of holds true to what Elite was originally too. Yeah, I mean that was very much a algorithmically generated right thing. Times have changed. I don't know. I I think it looks awesome, Like I really want to take a look at that. It's just the look of sitting in the cockpit, yeah, and flying around with its like with like I don't I don't have to move my hands from my throttle and stick their hands on after all, and the having the track I are, it's just it's it's sort of that that whatever it is that clicks when you're in the Oculus, that like you just feel like connected to the game. Are you? Are you just burning for the commercial version of the Oculus at this point? Oh? Yes, Like if I could put that on and play DCS. Yeah, hey, you guess what you can eventually? Well, currently it's really like reading text is impossible. Yeah, definitely. I know there's a lot of stuff on many different fronts to iron out before that stuff is ideal. But people to try the latest Rift prototype at CES had very good things to say about it. Yeah, I read right up on tested. I read that too and some other stuff, and people were beaming about the leaps that thing has taken over, sort of leaps. It sounds like just a little bit of everything hasn't proved. Like the optics are better, the screen door effect is lessened by some new techniques they're doing. Yeah, norm equated it less to looking through a screen door and more looking at Like the game was printed on high thread count sheets, Okay, performance sheets that's gonna rip the hair out of my eyes. Gross you have hair in your eyes? Yeah, that's really gross. Stop that he was giving me the hairy eyeball. Have you ever heard of the term gross? That's disgusting. Yeah, but uh yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna play some more of that and hopefully you get a quick look out this week. Okay, how multiple life? Maybe I should wait for the quick look But how multiplayer? Does it feel? Like? How many other players are you aware of? An time? I'm just playing solo, but I know that there are multiplayer options. I have not explored any of them. Okay, yeah, taking my time with it, all right, yea, because that was something where like near the end of development, they kind of just announced, Oh, by the way, it's always online, the single player stuff we were talking about. No, it's no. I am playing solo and have had like I am perfectly SYNCD up with their server maintenance, so I have to, like, you know, stop playing for a few minutes and then log back into the solo. It's just a little weird. Yeah, it's exciting the stuff like that's being made. Yeah, And it's like it feels very similar to the X games like x rebirth and stuff. I just jumped in a little into those to try to figure them out. And this seems like the sane persons x mmm. So yeah, a lot of a lot of trading, a lot of combat stuff. So I looking more about that. It's very orange, sounds cool, Dan Brad bad Elite Dangerous is not your kind of game. I watched through to do a thing. I don't dislike stuff like that, but I'm more of a Star Fox guy. MK. Yeah, would you play Star Fox with a Hotas and track I R? Is that the weird hat Drew has? Yeah, the weird hat? Yeah, and Hotas is the joystick and try that out. That seems fun. It seems like it would be totally needless for that style of game, but I'd tried it out. I hated the gyro stuff on Star Fox three DS. Anytime you're turning the screw well and yeah, that's fine. Yeah, that's something the weirds me out about track R because like it's maybe hard to articulate vertically, but so you're turning your head, you're turning your head away from the screen. This thing you're looking at is not moving with you with your head moving, It's heavily exaggerated. Okay, that's like the forts a thing where it's like, oh, with connect you can like look out the left and right. It's like, yeah, but then I'm not looking at my fucking TV, right, Okay, So this is so this is not trying to simulate your eyeline. It's just using your neck as another input. Is what you're saying exactly. Okay. That makes its amplified to a point where you're looking at the corner of your screen, but it is it is turning like you got it? Okay, Yeah, you can turn your head and still comfortably look at it with your eyeballs. Uh, okay, just a sign like, you know, twenty degrees real head rotation as one hundred degrees okay. In game head. That was the main reason I was wondering what you thought about the rift, because that would obviously solve that problem because then in that case, you would be looking at whatever you moved your head to. The problem with the rift, though, is you can't see your hands. So I've got to know my joysticks real well. Yeah, I've thought that about a lot of things with like even even people that aren't good at hitting every key on the keyboard without looking are gonna have trouble with that? At least you can kind of feel them on the joystick. Yeah, it's a keyboard. It's like, yeah, that's something that I feel like hasn't been addressed that much with that thing. That What if they give you gloves and then draw the hands in world and you are looking down at in world joysticks, or they put a camera on there and you press a button and you just look through the rift to see your hands quick? Yeah? Crazy? Yeah? What if I make it so I just never take that thing off? What if I cut off my hands? I can help solved. I can help you with that, all right, one finger at the time. Yes, let's go, Dan. What have you been playing? I've been doing a lot of stuff, Brad, Okay, I've got to productive of a week. Yes, I uh game wise. I beat three games and started three games. Uh really getting around. Also in the last week, wrote half of a book and started training for a half marathon. God man. Yeah, all because I'm feeling sick, because I gotta I got the flu and a sinus infection and stuff. And when I feel like shit, I like being super productive really makes me feel better. Wow, Okay, So yeah, so that's so getting sick pressed. Yeah, that's that's why I'm doing all this stuff. Game wise, Yeah, I uh beat First Light and basically the whole PSN PlayStation plus thing. I ran the whole game it in the last week. I beat First Light for the first time. I never played that before. You know, I don't like the arena stuff, yeah, like saving hostages and the whole like the yard thing or whatever. I didn't like that, But the but the actual kind of like you know, brief story thing and everything I liked. And I actually liked Fetch more as a character in this DLC than I did in the main game, and it had been a while since I played. It's missing, It's them Fetch the Neon girls equal right, second Son, because it paints it some stuff in the second Son that you see what happened in First Light. How many times would you say you've killed Tracksuit, Dan Record and Infamous in First Light? A lot more because they used my head for a lot of the occurring like gang or like a Russian gang or something. And uh, that's like the main enemy in First Light, and so you're just killing me over and over in that DLC so for anyone that might not like me, that might be the DLC for you. Yeah. Occasionally we're in a suit though, and I look like a fancy guy. Oh. Although I think it is scripted because several people tweeted this to me. In DLC, I think my character is always the creepy stalker guy that follows this girl around, and I think kills are by a dumpster whoa. And the whole time it's showing me because you're tracking him through security cameras and stuff, and it's showing a picture of my actual face while you're watching camera footage to this guy stalking a girl. Yeah it sounds about yeah cool, But yeah, it was fun. I liked it. It had been long enough since I played the Second Son, and you know, I didn't love Second Son, but it was it was fun to go back to and kind of a bite sized version is there. I think I'm putting more thought into this than Second Son maybe deserves. But if you didn't finish that game, should you go back and finish that before you play this? Yeah, you don't have to. I mean, don't matter if it's a free download, if you didn't buy a Second Son, don't worry about it, just you'll get a sense of what the game's like. And then you can buy the full game for free if you want to if you like it. But yeah, and then the other free stuff was the Swapper, which I just adored that game. I already played through it a couple of times. I wanted to try it out with the controller. Works pretty well with the PlayStation. Yeah. I played some of it on PS four a while back, and it does work. I originally thought it was such a you know, mouse game because you need to, you know, right, you know, move that curse around, but like it works fine on PlayStation four and it's it's still just a fantastic game. Yeah. The way they slow it down time when you're swapping and yeah, of makes it totally approachable with controller yep, yep uh. And then Duke Newcomb three D Ship Yes, I felt on the Vita and I forgot to try it. Started playing again. Remind me the Duke Newcomes was a pretty cool game three D. It brings me back to junior high and thinking like, man, this is cool. Yeah, like it hasn't aged that well and like I'm starting to realize that, like, oh, he's just ripping off lines from all these other movies and not actually coming up with great lines. Yeah, you know himself, just ripping off they live and stuff. That game was weird for me at the time because didn't it come out. It either came out after Quake or right around the same time. It was might have been around the same it might have been two or three months earlier. Yeah, but it was too doom like for me when I had already moved on the Quake, you know what I mean. Sure, even though it does some really important stuff in the first person shooter kind of uh chronology. You have a jet pack. Yeah, Like they did a lot of stuff that other shooters weren't doing. The building hollow duke, Yeah, very capable, like it was the multiplayer. I was just really inventive with the two mines and a lot of stuff that you know, it was. It was definitely a step beyond Doom, which was a lot more straightforward like weapon and even and even Quake. It did a lot of things that Quake didn't do. It could kick, yeah, like there just mechanic. The two things were a the crazy range of weird weapons and be like the all the things you could do to interact with the environment. It was just screaming fast. Yes, the movement, it's just nuts. Well you know that shoot All shooters were pretty fast. Yeah. Yeah. Any any game where you walk up to a toilet and press a button and a mix of flushing sound I like, yeah, I mean that was crazy. You know, it was careful. There's you can see a lot of games that do that now. Yeah, you can see yourself in the mirror, like, yeah, you can flush toilets, you can the mirrors, move those pool balls, yeah you can. You can move the pool balls on the table, you can turn lights on and off like that. Stuff was crazy back then. Yeah, yeah, it's it's weird playing it now because you know, I've talked before about how I never really had a PC that could play games back in the day. So that's why I have these gaps where it's like, you know, quake and stuff that I never played. Yeah. So my experience playing Duke mucom three D. Originally it was in junior high and I don't know how the funk they did this, but some kid figured out how to all the computers are on the same network in the school. So this is probably like ninety eight, ninety nine, something like that, and there was some way, I can't remember how, via any computer in at school, you could just load up Duke NUKEMB. I don't know if it was through DOSS or what it was. So I had only played that game and like you know, ten minute increments where the teacher wasn't looking or you know, I had a computer station that no one could see, and I just like try to play through Duke NUKEMB. So I've never actually been able to like sit down and play the game properly. So this is my first time like actually playing the game. And it's not great. I mean, it's very much the nineties FPS totally. It's yeah, it just kind of brings me back to junior high. It's a cool game, yep. It's back when Duke Nukem. There was like some purity to that. And it wasn't Duke nukembe forever over you're like, oh, oh, his character is disgusting and this whole thing doesn't work anymore. It was it was still relevant back then, sure, like it still had something to say. Regardless of what that was, you know, like the matter quality of the game, like the game like Duke Nukem mattered back then. Yeah, you know, the production value of the surrounding games was such that a character that was just walking around stealing action movie lines was still inventive and still work and like waving money at a cartoonish strippers and all that stuff. Like that's just kind of like it was childish. And that game is very nineties. Oh yeah, incredibly nineties. So when Duke Nukem Forever came out in what was a twenty ten, yeah, and it was also very nineties. Like that was the problem with that game. Number one that was not It's not old enough to be nostalgic, right, It's just old enough to be like, oh, like, yeah, you just you just haven't changed at all in the last fifteen years. Yeah. There is one thing I liked a bout Duke Nukem Forever, and that was one line when you climb up to the top of the like space needle thing in Vegas and he says like, hey, I can see my dick from here. Because that makes no sense at all. I've thought about that line since I played that game. I don't know what that's supposed to mean. That makes me laugh every time I think of it. Man, it's pretty good. You got up high enough to what it's feel like. That's almost getting to the point of like self mockery or self parad that that game needed to right to begin with. That's some like bringing Will Arnette to read lines that he led Matt Hazard, led the Matt Hazard to block hole. Yeah, wait, that game sucks. Was he in that? It was? It was Matt Hazard and it sucked. Dude, I didn't know that it was so forced. It was. It was how he feels about that stuff now whatever. It was probably like another Chase Paycheck on the way too much bigger things or afterde that beat Park right four and I love the ending of the game. Game you didn't. I beat it again over the weekends. Yeah, we talked about we I think we both did the same thing at the end. I don't that's too new to be We don't want to be spoiled. Probably, yeah, I probably don't want to necessarily get specific. But there there's some choices you can make at various points in that game, and and the choice you were given. I made the choice that I always do when given that choice. You made the immediate choice and prolonged choice, which is the choice I made when I played it. For review and then went, fuck, I bet this goes on a lot longer and it's way more revelatory and interesting if I didn't do that. Yeah, but it feels real good if you do it. Yeah. So I did the other thing this time, and I was right. It was worth seeing. I'm guessing the way that game says, there's no way to go back and try the other thing, right, I mean you could too. You could manipulate cloud saves and stuff like that if you wanted to. I just YouTube everything. I YouTube the secret early ending. That's a really cool idea. But yeah, just uh, it was my number two game the last year and yeah, beginning to end. Just absolutely love that game. I'm gonna play some more co opt tonight. It's just one of those games I can see myself just taken over outpost with a friend every once in a while for it's like their DLC is out this week. Oh shit, that prison one escape, which you know when they say like, hey, it's the Dirksh prison escape, Like that's the worst part of that game, is the Dirksh Like the portion where you're constructing the grappling hook. Oh yeah, I hated that part, going through the camp with no weapons, like the guys like smoke guys. Yeah, yeah, like the grappling hook portion there. Early on, I think is is like it barely works, and it's like the things they want you to do don't feel like in line with the design elements surrounding you. So it's like, oh, I just okay, what do you want me to do? I just like fling myself at this wall and slide down and that'll be like less fall damage so I won't die. Like I just felt like it felt like it was kind of broken. I I thought it really helped with traversal stuff as far as like since it's more mountainous than Farkry three, I like the fact that typically if I wanted to get over a ledge, I would see like some ropes at the bottom, be like, okay, cool they thought of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's yeah. Farkry three had that too. Or it's just like here are these ropes to signify, yes, this is the thing you can climb. Yeah. I really did like it a lot more than three, and I loved three. And I know a lot of people say it's just more Farkry three, but I think the little changes, the co op, the gyrocopter. It makes it better for me. Like, oh, the copter so great. I love that, so dumb, just flying around with the grenade launchers, just shooting rhinos and shit, like just the best thing in the world. I love that game. Why have I not played more of that game? I've played a ton of that game. I just haven't like moved through the game. Keep playing it, you know what I mean? I mean so so like I need to just tell myself, all right, no more outposts, no more hunting, no more anything until you at least open up the other half of the map. Yeah. So this this second play through for me, I took every I did all the hunting, I did all the towers, did all the outposts right on my way there, and yeah, you get you get everything, you get all kinds of ship. I should I should really focus down on that. Yeah, it's become it's become very much like I should go to bed soon, but I'll take an out post before bed type of thing. Yeah. Yeah, but then but that leads to me never doing any of the story missions. So I'm still just looking at the same story progression I was at two weeks ago. I would tell myself, I'm gonna go to bed after like the next propaganda poster and then spend literally like two hours flying around just tearing down posters and you know, doing all the other side stuff. It's it's awesome just collecting letters. Yeah, it's yeah, I think that the side stuff in that game could have been better, but it's it's one of those things where were varied at least, but the world is so good. Yeah, yeah, you kind of you kind of want to take what everything you can get. Yeah, even if you're just picking up letters or whatever you see on the map, like on the way there, there's a good chance like, oh, a courrier might drive by and I'm gonna shoot my grenade launcher. Adam's gonna blow up real cool and he's gonna go flying off a cliff and yeah yeah, man again, I saw, I saw there was a fair amount of complaining after our Game of the Year stuff that we that we took. We saw so much to task for that kind of the open world temple that they keep pounding out and then also claim to love Farkry four so much. But like I'm really I'm not seeing the contradiction there, because Farkry four is by far the best embodiment of that type of game from last year and that they put out. Yeah, like even the towers are fun to climb, like each one's like a little puzzle. Like, you know, it's not great, but it's right. And it's not that it's not that that template is inherently flawed. They just use it too fucking much like if fark Right four was the only game that came out last, use it in worse games, right, yeah, right, It's like Farkry four is, you know, is a case where that stuff works. But even in that case, like I mean, I feel like there's too much side stuff in that game that is similar to too much of the other side stuff. Sure, you know, and also there's definitely more that could be done even in Farkright fours. As we've said almost at nauseum, they can't just turn around and make a Farkry five exactly like this exactly like yeah, yeah, even that has its expiration date, but you know, yeah, just because we think the thing has been used too much doesn't mean that they can't do it right. Once more, I want to say that someone reported that You'd be Soft was doing a survey where they're like, what do you think about vampires. Yeah, I'm up for them. More weird stuff like a like a blood dragon like you maybe guess like maybe some kind of blood dragon thing that is a vampire. Yeah, or like a like a like a red dead Undered nightmare is still my favorite, like let's make the world spooky and phil full monsters type. If they did something like that, I would be all over it. I No, I don't like vampires are just dumb. Yeah, I don't know, yeah, like hopping vampire. Okay, I don't hold their arms out in front of them. I'm in all right. You changed my mind upside of that tallis principle we already talked about. And I started Mario Galaxy again. I'm gonna do another run that games. I mean you've already done that before. Oh yeah, you know every Mario, every core Mario game. I think I have one hundred percent, except for I've never done one hundred and twenty Shines on Sunshine. Oh why is that you should? I haven't you done that? Dan? You know what you'll like this, Jeff, Because the reason I'm playing through Galaxy is I was watching the awesome games done quick stream, which man, they really did an awesome job with that. Yeah, I was really impros was the first time I've watched it live and like what they were doing, and they seem to have so much fun doing it, and they raised so much money, like great production. Yeah, I just love what they did. I was really really impressed. But I watched almost all of the Sunshine thing, and it made me think about how much I like Mario and how I haven't played like a real Mario game in a while. And instead of playing Sunshine, I was like, I'll play Galaxy. That's right. I put on the Sunshine speed run because I've never played that game and I saw it on the schedule and I was like, this seems like a great chance to see what Sunshine is all about. I made it about ten minutes and I was like, all right, wait, did you did you opt not to do Sunshine because I just you have just seen it? Or you were like I think it's because it's a bad game. It is a fantastic game, but Galaxy is a better game. Galaxy is a better game than Mario Sunshine. Could you I forgot about some of the bluecoins stuff that's kind of annoying in Sunshine. Have you considered the idea of emulating this new run of Galaxy. What do you mean emulating? Like, yeah, yeah, I played it to an adp oh, man, I would love that. I was thinking about that while I was playing it because it's stopping you man, I don't know how to do that. Got that giant computer? Yeah? How do I? Is that easy to do? You can't just put a right No, So I think there's a file system issues that would probably prevent that from working. Is it legal technically if I own the game? So? Yes? Okay? Uh? And no, I think it depends on because certain emulators require a dump of the bios, which unless you're dumping your own bios, you're then going out and downloading one which is not yours. And is that's illegal? That's a weird legal distinction. That almost feels like splitting hairs. It Is it absolutely that you can say that, like, I mean, all of this stuff. Is it just it feels like you could argue that making an ISO of a wee game that you own is a DMCA violation. You could argue that because it technically is. But in the past there have been allowances made for personal backups and that sort of stuff, and you know, like protecting your own media and stuff like that. Even if you know your backups can't run on original well okay, they can run on original hardware. Yeah, Like the the allowances and dislowances have become so muddied over the years, Like in this kind of post the MCA world we're in that I have lost track. I just know that the text file that came with all the ship you downloaded in the nineties that said library checkout policy says you can have this for twenty four hours that you have to delete it. That did not hold up. That was not real. So like theoretically yes, I mean you know, you with the with the proper Bluetooth stack and your your PC, you could connect a we remote to it. Oh so the motion stuff like the Manta ray buses and stuff, you can do that. Yeah. Yeah, I've got a little Bluetooth antenna thing that I bought from my computer where that technically work. It should. It probably does, but you know there are some there's some some things that can make that weird. You would have to get a wireless sensor bar or do the candle trick or something like that, or just have your we turned on next to it and use that little lights on that because it's not like that's kind yeah or we you probably sure, Yeah, there's a steady censor bar whatever you got see stuff like that though, Like I love the idea of doing it, but I feel like it's one of those things where I would spend like five hours trying to get it to work, and it would kind of work, like the fucking DS four tool thing. I wanted to play Park cry four with the Duel Shock oh yeah, And I got it working for a little bit. I got DS four tool or whatever working, and then it just got to the point to where it wouldn't recognize the controller. I've forgot to mention it's already interrupt you, but I'm trying to help you here. I hadn't. I hadn't messed with the dual Shock four stuff on PCs for like two months or something, and then I have to play Tallas with it. And what you want is called DS four windows. Yeah, I can find that they have forked. They forked it significantly from the original tool, and this DS four windows is like everything that it needed to be, like this time last year, like they have done a ton of work on that thing, like it worked like it should Now I feel like I might I've downloaded that. That sounds like I originally had DS four tool. But I mean this is just like you were using it wirelessly. Yeah, and maybe that could have something over the works. I don't know. I don't know. I was using it over Bluetooth. Like it. It powers the controller down after x minutes of IDOL now like it, like it should have it that they got around the problems with like not being able to connect the controller after Steam is running and stuff like that, and like it basically works as well as a for me. The catch with that stuff, and and with wireless controllers on the PC in general, is there are some games and some pieces of software that if you launch them without your joystick turned on, yeah, overwrites all your defaults. So then you have to go configure it all over again. It's not just a matter of quit the game, turn it back on, and go. So I go wired. I'm now using a wired Xbox one controller on my PC what I've been doing, And even that's not great because it every time the computer boots, the controller vibrates for like four seconds or time totally. So I have like my computer goes to sleep and then every time it wakes up from sleep for whatever reason. Sometimes I don't know why it is malware, who knows, but you know, like I have a plex surver installed, so there's network turn on and stuff like that, so you know, it's one of the cases where just like middle of the night, Oh, this controllers vibrating like on a hard surface and it's super loud. Yeah, so even that sucks. I'm tempted to go back to a three sixty controller. Yeah, I'm just I'm doing a gold standard. Yeah. I was surprised far cry for when I had PS four plugged in and it did use the PlayStation prompts and everything was cool. Yeah yeah, but yeah, the Galaxy thing. If somebody can tweet to me a idiot proof guide and I won't get arrested, Dolphin. Yeah, you know, I feel like I've looked into it, and I've been like, you know what, this seems like it's going to be paying the end. Looking into that stuff and and getting that stuff is for me what configuring joysticks is for Drew. Like I'm interested in that stuff up to a certain point, Like I actually don't care, like the emulation from the ends sixty four on got real weirdy with like like graphics plugins like okay, install your glide plug in or your your open gl plug in, and then this plug in and like the plug inning architecture is this, and oh, some guys got a better plug in that makes this game work better. It's like, no, fuck all that shit. That's like when I was trying to emulate, because I know there's this really active you have No Mercy community and they keep updating No Mercy with like the current sets and wrestlers and tighten dron videos and music and move sets. Like it's like playing No Mercy that illegal illegal. I'm just gonna put that out. It also seems super confusing, so I never actually went through it. But I mean, you can download a patch that I'm sure that you could dump your own in sixty four ROM, which I can actually do. I have the hardware to do that, and then apply the patch of their content over the top. Of course, that content is not owned by them, it's owned by WW so still technically illegal. Look emulation, it's fucking fantastic, but don't beat around the bush. Here's a lot of you know, half that half those streams on twitch. Yeah, but if I can play Mario Galaxy and ten a DP, that sounds like the greatest thing in the world. I mean, I want to say, I might be wrong, but I feel like the last time I looked at Dolphin, they had gotten to the point where each game kind of had a profile of sorts where people were saying, like, here's the optimal settings for Mario Galaxy, here's the plugins you should use. Okay, like here's what you would use on Twilight Princesses, etcetera, etcetera. You know, I'll try that tonight and I'll report back next week and see how that go. I don't like emulators that have game specific settings then like force you to kind of know that shit or think about that ship. But if you just want to play, like in my case, I just want to play Mario Galaxy, that the one game that wouldn't be that difficult once you got the controller hooked up and configured. Probably I've seen screenshots of that game at ten eighty and it's beautiful, fucking great. It's crazy how well that art holds up. I'm yeah, God, I'm only like ten shines end, so I would totally restart that and yeah, I'm gonna do that tonight. That's my project to night. That'll be great, great expanding minds here on the podcast and outside of that, h still got the resolution for twenty fifteen. I've got some plans in place to h to take down mister Tyson. All right, it will happen, all right, stay tuned. It will bet anybody any amount of money that I will drinking any amount of money, drinking your raw eggs every morning and running. Yeah yeah, Dan, you forgot what's that game? Countless Roots of Death? Crodd we did? We did a quicklik for another horrible Steam horror game. Game sucks ass, It certainly does so if you'd like to see Dan and I lose our minds playing the best of Steam. Favorite part is you walking in and press one for life, press two for death, and no matter what you press, it's just the whispery voice. What do you say, like you have made your choice? You have no choice? Yeah, just over and over again. Yeah, it's a really bad game. Yep. I feel like, you know, like when we talk about Steam and the games that are appearing on Steam and how it's just this weird race to the bottom. Lately, I was playing a game called Geometry Dash, which is all bad on its own, but it is like it starts out it is the impossible game. You know, the cube that jumps over the spikes. It's that with different music. And then but then eventually you go through portal and it becomes flappy birdish for a little while, and then you go back through another portal. They've twisted on it, but it's just some point like you're cloning these The wholesale copying of games has infected the Steam market enough, not great enough to be worth cloning, but apparently great enough to where a bunch of people bought them because people love simple ship. Oh that's kind of disappointing, but it's like this all this stuff on Steam that's like it's three dollars and you're looking and go like, yeah, it's three dollars. Yeah, like that. That stuff has been so bad on mobile for so long that to hear it, getting to hear it infecting other platforms, like more kind of traditional platforms. Yeah, it's it's weird. You're even seeing Steps four or like, what was that Tennis in the face game? Like that seems like a mobile that is in fact a mobile game, right, right, and it felt like enough that is on PS four that are just like phone games that are getting light touch ups and stuff like that, that like it's it's weird you go through the PS four digital storefront these days, like you know, they tend to promote the games that they feel probably are worth kind of promotion, but there's still some more stuff showing up there that I was just like, oh, what the fuck is this? Like what how did this? Why? Yeah, okay, sure, why not? I mean, you know, like whatever, every every game should have a home I don't care, yeah, but you're just look at it go like man, what it's just such a weird fit for PS four or the latest console. You know, it's just like it's such a crazy time we live in with that stuff. I also think it's weird how they handle like what games get Platinum trophies because the criteria is weird because like Sly Cooper Collection will get like fucking three platinums, whereas like Ground Zeros won't have any, and then like a lot of downloadable games won't, but some do, like I think Infamous First Light has it, and that's DLC Like it's it's super confused. That's not dealc it's standalone. I mean that's true, now, okay, yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, yeah, I just don't know, Like there's so much more vague with the trophy system than like Microsoft is with achievements, Like the achievement stuff has gotten pretty vague too, where like Halo has like four thousand points, that's it's technically four games. Like yeah, I guess I do. Like the downloadable games have a thousand now though, that's nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can't care anymore. I only care if it's a game that I really give a shit about it. All the trophies and Double Dragon and now I have them, so like Mordor was a great example that, like, I don't spend time going after achievements that I don't care about anymore, unless it's a game that I just want an excuse to keep playing. Yeah, I'm I'm totally with you on that. But now you have your first taste of Japanese trophies, I do. Yeah, you should buy a Japanese Xbox three sixty and import some games. You could be playing the Conveni two hundreds O. Those were those were heavy days. Yeah, you could be playing the Japanese version of Import Tune or Challenge. I guess is my first one? Yeah? Yeah, Chatuco Highway Battle. Yeah. I remember importing Soul Caliber two for GameCube back in the day because it came out Japan first, and like they had some weird thing where you had to buy a disc. Do you remember this? And you have right? And I never imported much, so that was my only time really with that experience. Yeah, well, I guess that leaves me. Yeah, what are you doing? I played the New Destiny Raid. Yeah, it's pretty good, better than the Vault of Glass. Uh. There are no jumping puzzles or bullshits stealth sequences. Are there oracles that st that just wipe the whole party? H yes, there are a couple of spots where the whole party can be wiped by like total bullshit, or by like how do you define total bullshit? Like a fucking mystical magic gong that appears in the sky and if you don't shoot the gong fast enough, you all are dead. Does that happen in the first raid? Yeah, that exactly thing you just described. You're talking about the oracles. You don't shoot the oracles? Yeah? Sure, sure? And the oracles to me, look that big fucking hanging gong that actually so that probably spears that exact thing happens while you're fighting Krota. Okay, but what triggers it is. It's not you have to kill something. It's if any party member dies during the Crota fight. Uh, it spawns in a thing called the Oversoul, which is basically a planet that fills the entire sky. Like it literally fucking apocalyptic shit. When somebody dies on the Oversoul appears, it's literally this fucking planet appears like it's about to crash into the Earth or the moon, which is what you're on. But uh, the point being like, yeah, everybody asked to focus fire that thing, but it fills the entire sky, So you just have to point a gun at the sky and and like within three to five seconds, dump in the air for a while. Hopefully that thing is dead and you're okay. But like, yeah, it's it is a it is a lot more demanding and less forgiving of failure in some spots. Yeah, I've definitely heard people say some nice things about the way. Yeah, it's it's it's fun, it's really well put together. It's got some interesting concepts that kind of expand on some of the vaultic glass stuff without necessarily revisiting the bullshit from that thing. Brad, I got the sense a couple of weeks ago that you would like almost completely soured on Destiny. Oh no, I just stopped playing it for like six weeks or something. Okay, but then all this new content came in, and here I am. But now you've seen all of that content. I may have also leveled a tighten to fourteen over the weekend. I heard someone told me you were working on a second character. Who told you that so you could get twice as many shards? Well, that's not why, but I need I still need to know who ratted me out. I know people, man, all right, we'll talk later. I don't know why I did it. I had I had made those other characters, like when the game came out. Yeah, and I was just looking at it at one point and I was actually, what really did it was that I had enough tightened gear sitting in my vault. Who just get the guy to thirty, like as soon as he hits twenty. Yeah, So I was like, he'll spend the five hours getting into twenty and then I'll have a second character who can raid if I feel like it fun. But yeah, that that rate is pretty awesome. I recommend it. And then I got the Blackhammer at the end, so I was happy. It's a pretty awesome sniper rifle. Check it out. It's been a long time since I've had a good sniper rife out. If you get three crits in a row with it, it just refills the clip, Like, you don't even have to go through the reload animation. It's fun. You don't even have to zoom out. Yeah, if you get all through, so it only if you keep racking up head shots, Yeah, you just get it only holds three in the chamber in the clip, so so if you miss one of those head shots, you have to reload pretty fast. But but yeah, if you're fighting one of those like strike bosses that tends to kind of stand still a lot while it's shooting at people, just pop head shot after head shot off and never like never even zoom back out. It's fun. It's awesome. That's a cool idea. Yeah, yeah, that rate is worth playing. You should do You think that as they release more content for that thing, that if they release another pack of this size or when when they release another pack of this size, will it hit you the same way or are you at a point where like that's not going to be enough. You're talking about similar to the Dark Below, like whatever House of Wolves is. I don't know. I feel like, you know, eventually the community of that game would get to a point where they're like, oh, yeah, no, this this like whole like three missions, this, that, and then like you know, it's it's not enough to keep us playing, It's barely enough to have us come back for it. The raids have been pretty different from each other, though, Yeah, yeah, this raid is is pretty substantively different from the continue first one. Switch it up? Maybe, yeah, I mean you you want to you want to believe that they are learning as they go and each DLC release will be better than the last. I don't know if that's actually the case. I mean, you know, there's there's rumors that there's a new playable area in the reef and the next thing, which like that that alone, that's the first time a new like land mass will have been introduced to the game. It's the moon but more blue. Looks cool. I'll go I'll go there and shoot stuff. But yeah, like you you absolutely hope that each ad on is better than the last. Yeah, we'll see. I saw there was a guy from Bungee who tweeted something yesterday kind of obliquely saying that that slide that's been going around is not to be believed with the bigger expansion coming in September and stuff, So who knows, who knows what's up with that sort of thing. Well, may it means they have more like add ons plan than those which would you know, you would hope, Yeah, or more like weekly stuff or just free like event event type things that you know, there's a lot of stuff they could be doing to keep that game somewhat fresher than it is, just on a kind of a weekly or bi weekly basis. Yeah, totally. They could add like four more reputation systems behind, like three currencies would be cool. Watch more meters go in anyway, Yes, play the raid. You should get thirty and play it. I am close to Van Guard two, which would get me the chest, which would probably get me to thirty, and I could theoretically do it. I just don't know if I came, that's fine, totally valid. Yeah, I don't know that I'll do it. A ton more times. But yeah, it was fun, very demanding. Uh, that's it. Let's talk about the news, Okay, the news singer little ditty, your new song in the New New New News. There you go, Huey Lewis and the News. Sports. It's a great album. Yeah, it is fantastic. Better than four. Yeah, thanks, I like four. Nothing wrong with four? Ye? Sports is sports? Come on? Yeah? Come on, it's hanging in Marty McFly's bedroom. Sure. Yeah, the poster for sports it's yeah, wow, it's per love on that. No, that was a single that was just for the movie. Yeah, okay, and well it was on the soundtrack or you know, it may have appeared elsewhere later, but yeah, they did that for the the best song. That's the Eddie van Halen thing that he plays his dad. Yeah. Remember he puts the tape of Eddie van Halen into his cassette player and then he talks to him because he says he's Darth Vader. Yes, that is an original Eddie van Halen track as well. Okay, that's the only part of that that that is what that's all that exists of that track. Wow, Yeah, that's crazy. Who knew? Then? Drew New Drew new and Huey Lewis. If you don't know, is the guy in the gymnasium that says, I'm afraid you're just too darn lab Yeah, no shit, yep, Wow, they're playing his song I should back, And well I haven't seen those movies in years and years. Also the Helicopter Pilot and Sphere yep, do you care at all about their fancy shoes. They're bringing out the airmag for reels they say they claim they couldn't really have the power lass this time and actually get it right. Yeah, well they did like a test run before. It was just a while ago and like the you know, it didn't have power Lass at that point, and yeah, and the proceeds went to Michael J. Fole. That's right, Yes, I do remember that. But they claim it that this year they are going to release those things for real? Are they nikes? Yeah? Is it going to be where they release like a hundred of them and they're ten thousand dollars each because if they're not, like, I will totally buy those. They're advertising these in a way that you'd think that they So the last ones were because they were acting off and all that stuff, like they were definitely those kinds of shoes. Like I bet they would be like, you have to go to a Tier one account to fucking get these shoes. Tier zero fucking you gotta be there on the day they drop, and you know, like all that Nike fucking bullshit. Wait, what the fuck is a Tier one account? So they specific store? Yeah, I already regret asking this question. There are specific stores that are high up enough the Nike food chain that they are that they are the places to go for limited edition shoes and cockaways and all that sort of stuff. All right, So I would imagine they would put him out this year since that was the year. That's the whole point. It was, Yeah, this year. The date September fifteenth, isn't it? Hey? On the I don't remember the actual date, but have you guys seen it two on your Facebook, feage or Twitter, where like people the same people twee or that day is a day with the day you know it's it's twenty fifteen. There's a generator. There's a tumbler that actually once a day posts today was the daily party. McFly went to with a with an automated image that has the date the today's date that's become that's become a piece of ironic internet here. It's pretty good. I follow it so I know what day it is. It's like follow that. And then there's another one that just posts the same picture of Dave Coolier every day and I follow both those. That's also pretty good. Do you get different commentary on the picture every day? No, just the same zero commentary. It appears a little day to start your day. Yeah, it's it's good to let you know, like, oh, this is the next day of content, and as I'm scrolling through my dashboard, I go the day change at the same time every day. Yeah, this is a tumbler thing. Yep. What is your short description of what the fuck tumbler is? Because people keep tweeting me like I should start one or I and I know it's a big deal. I just don't know what the fuck it is. It's a it's a blogging service. It's like think about Twitter with no word limit and you can post whatever the fuck you want. Also, people can send you questions and honymously or you can turn that off, uh, and you can answer them there and your blog. But it's a blog because it's a blog platform. You've got one too, They used to answer questions, right, yeah, would you recommend me getting one? I don't know. It's fun, it's fun to writing. It's for the same reason that I have a Twitter account, you know, just like sign up, like, oh, you know, there's different people here to kind of fuck around with and some fun stuff to be had there. Yeah, it's it's I like Tumbler. I think the you know, by virtue of it not having a word count, it lets you kind of say more things than Twitter would let you. I guess people ask me questions on Twitter and sevens man, I'd like to answer this, but it's you know, I've already answered that a million times. Oh yeah, if you just link to one thing, it's a good point. Is it easy to set up? Like if I just want to do it as like a Q and a type thing, really, okay, I might do that? Do it all right? We have to talk about the news. This podcast is already a million years long. That's a long time. I'm happy you'd be stuck with you. Bred. There is new rock band DLC. It's not Huey Lewis unfortunately. Now we're really going back in time. Yeah, yeah, like I mean, I mean, I mean, yes, well played, but also like, what the fuck? How what new rock band? DLC? Yeah, and then it's like it's the fucking Foo Fighters or something. Yeah, it's not like here's some special thing. It's like someone opened up a drawer and said, oh shit, did we never put this out? Right? I think the food Fighter song is new enough that it couldn't necessarily have been that, but yeah, yeah, it's a it's a food Fighters avench Sevenfold and Arctic Monkeys, Okay, yeah, one song each, two bucks each as per they're they're old pricing structure, uh and yeah, like their current pressing structure. I don't claim any special knowledge of how this came about. Yeah, any insights, I have no fucking idea. I'm surprised that this new story says it's only been twenty one months since they stopped. It feels like way longer than that significant amount. It's almost two years. I'm saying, it feels like it's been many more than two years since they stopped doing it. Yeah, yeah, they stopped when they did that. Wasn't that the paxist thing where they all sang America was supposed to be the big fans like the week after, not long after that event is supposed to be the kind of the culmination of the whole DEALC thing. They built it up. They built it up as like this is it. Yeah, here is like the quintessential American song that you would want in a game called rock band. And now they have like just pissed all over Don mc lain and said, here's some food fighters you motherfucker's huh. Yeah, I have no idea, like I you know, I think that if I were in a position to want to test the appetite for rock band content in perhaps planning to make something new with rock band name on it, I might put out some DLC, just as does a little quick test of the water. Yeah, it's hard to test now with that those not being the current consoles, and after twenty one months off, Like, who even sees this information outside of the community that rabidly still follows Harmonics for for whatever it is they're doing lately. Sure, I followed a link to a subreddit where a bunch of people were very excited about this. Yeah, I think it's cool. I mean, you know, I would like that. I would like to see rock band appear on new consoles. Yeah, I think the only thing that could get me back into that, and I love rock band and guitar hero and Mac and they played at all the time is Zeppelin rock band. Led Zeppelin like a full like the Beatles rock band treatment. I would that would get me right back into it. I don't know. Robert Plant seems like a real stodgy old dude. He is. Didn't Richard Branson off from like a billion dollars to do another reunion tour or something? And he said, no, there was a thing. Yeah, there was a big interview with Jimmy Page, Yeah, a couple or a few weeks ago. And yeah, it sounds like Plant has just no interest in anything related to that stuff. He aged weirdly. Yeah, he looks he looks like an old man, and he's kind of just flaky and weird him. He always was kind of a weird though, But yeah, he's a he's a weird old, fucking occult nut jobs. Fucking Jimmy Page. The house yeah with ali Ester Curley or Allister Crowley, like Alister Crowley's house or something. Yeah, Page is a total weirdo. John Paul Jones seems like the only like saying one of that group, and he was kind of the most boring one. Sure, Uh, you're real tough to sing while you're a rock band led Zeppelin. Oh he's all like, yeah, you'd have to take it down an octave at least. Yeah. Or if they did Queen, if they did rock band Queen, that'd be awesome. Yeah, they've practically done that already. It feels like they did. Yeah, this is you know, there's a lot of Queen in there. That's true, that's true. Yeah, I don't think the band specific rock band thing. Well, I'm sure even they would probably say, like that was not Metallica. Guitar of Metallica, and I mean Beatles rockman are probably my look, look at what happened is like a like kind of amazing piece of arts in a fucking really crazy way. That actually made me appreciate the Beatles in a way I certainly did not before. Really. Yeah, just by being able to hear think about the songs is individual parts to go like, actually, this baseline is really fucking good, and also to hear like, oh this is where the Beastie Boys sampled that thing from. But like it was a neat, a neat little like historical piece. Yeah. Yeah, like, but like, I don't. I don't know that that thing sold well enough to justify the amount of work they put to look at look at what was happening with that? And no other band is the fucking Beatles. Yeah, Zeppelin is well. Zeppelin does not have the mainstream wheel that the Beatles do. Say they're close, but they're not. It's not like you're not gonna go on QVC with rock band led Zeppelin, right, Yeah, I will stay for the record that the Stones and Zeppelin are. It's better than the Beatles. But Beatles are also incredible, and I think the Beastie Boys are. I don't opinions. We have our fun things, objective musical taste. The news is not. I like he we lose the new songs better than most Beatles songs. I'll say that much. Wow, I mean he's good. Have you heard I Want a New Drug? It's a good song. It's really good. Yeah, the one make him sick? Yeah? You listen to about Paperback Rider? A good song? Sure? Fine, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna let your guests tire tire yourselves out until you need to take a nap on the floor. Yeah, no, keep going. I think that you know, the like the ultimate like rock band Fantasy is, you know, a subscription service that's just a little karaoke access to all the music. Although with the it seemed like with the download sizes of the songs getting to what they were, that might be tough. Well, I don't know. Internet connections are faster. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how on demand that stuff would be if you had to wait like five minutes per song. Sure that's true. I mean if you did it like a karaokee bar where you're like que and stuff up and it's able to cash stuff ahead of time, that that could work. Yeah. I still play rock band whenever I go back and see my folks. It's great. Yeah, it seems like it seems like a lot of people still have like a place for it in their lives. It's fun for like, you know, like game night things like there's that bar around here that has game night and they always have rock band set up, and like that's a nice context to go in play a couple of songs. Then yeah, you know, not have a bunch of plastic shit in your house. I have a ton of plastic shit. In my house. I stare. I see the Konami Rock Revolution drum kit every morning when I get into my car. Is it in your car? Is in the passenger seats strapped in? He never rides alone? Yeah, I guess is how I get around the car pool allowance. So this rock this Rock Revolution drum kid is totally a person. Do you have oh my god, rock Revolution, Holy shit about that thing. Do you have the power gig rise of the six string guitar? No, because I was just a real guitar. Yeah, but it came with one, didn't it You could plug in? No? No. They they wanted to come by real bad, and I think at some point we were like, no, we're cool. That came by when I the Game Informer, and that did not seem They came by when they first were getting ready to announce it, and I was in this weird position of like knowing what Rock Band Three's pro mode was before they had announced it, and they were like, We're out there, We're we're gonna be real guitars, real stuff, none of this fucking five button bullshit. And I'm just sitting there's going like, oh man, walking into a fucking nightmare. But then they had they showed their drum kit at the three Judges Week, and I mean that was any hope of them like trying to say, like we're making the real thing. As soon as they fucking dropped the cardboard on their like drum kit reveal there was like power gig drum kit. Oh, I didn't know that it was invisible drums. It was a floor sensor that would detect you moving your hands. Oh no, what it was sea fighting game thing? Yeah, pretty much. It was the Activator in reverse and available limited quantities. I never actually saw one in the wild, but they I have told this story on this podcast before, so I apologize in advance. But for e three Judges Week, for PREE three, they had an events where they were showing off the game and they had shown that they had real guitar or whatever, and they had someone back there playing the drums and a piece of cardboard up in front of him so you couldn't see the drum controller. And they're like, and now we're ready to show you the drums and they dropped the cardboard and there's nothing there, and everyone just goes wow. Man was the guy going through motions and stuff. Lally he was, Yeah, he was playing the drums. He was Davy drums. It was no, it was not. I don't know who it was. Wow, did it work at least? Even if it did, sort of when you're playing the drums, you hit stuff, you hit stuff. That's kind of what's fun about that. Yeah, So like having no follow through not only that, but like you don't you kind of rely on the bounce back play drums properly. Yes, So it would say it's a poor solution. It was, it was, it was. It was a questionable solution, I guess, and I tried it out and it's sort of worked. And this was the same event where they were going on and on about how they have Kid Rock in the game and Kid Rock wouldn't be in rock band because it was all this fake shit and this this is authentic yea. And the guy, the guy literally said, no one is more authentic than kid I mean, he was an authentic gentleman. He's a pretty authentic dude. No one he is what he is. No one is more authentic than Kid Rock. This is the man who I imagine in my head now as khakied, a khaki wearing gentleman saying a businessman, let's say a business part, a marketing type. Dude. Hey man, that was just another case of game respecting game. That's a good point. Let's be real here, Alex, and I wrote it down on my notes. Yes, one is more authentic the kids. Glad that you recorded that thought for all history. Alex mentioned at the end of this story. I'll just quote him. Given the rumors kicking around of Activision wanting to bring back Guitar Hero. Uh, you know this, this whole thing would make some sense sure, talking about you know, just like you said, testing the waters for interest in that kind of thing. Yeah, you know, Rocksmith is out there still apparently making a ton of money. Yeah, they're releasing deals. Rocksmith is such a different thing it is. You're right, You're absolutely right, but very difficult. I have been unable to penetrate Rocksmith. Yeah, well, I mean that game seems like it's made for a guitar player. Rocksmith is too authentic. Yes, kid, Rock could not fucking handle rocks very possible. That is entirely possible. Yeah, Like, who knows what's going on. It seems like you keep hearing like you don't play Rocksmith with a fucking can of Coors. You use a real guitar, mister Rock's true sturf for rock. Uh yeah, who knows what'll come of that stuff? Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I would like to see plastic instruments return. Maybe they put a sixth button on it. I don't know, I don't know. Like that's the thing is I think about, like, well, what would they do at this point to like freshen it up? You know, because along the way of rock band and you know, and Guitario kind of escalating as well with their band stuff, it became like, well, now we've got a keyboard and now you can play this real instrument as well. Uh and and they kind of went there with it and then sold the pro upgrades for the songs separately as a more expensive add on in a way that was you know, never treated it right, and it was not you know, one hundred percent of the songs did not have support for that stuff. So it was never supported in the way that like you would think it should be. And also is for lunatics because I can't play a real instrument. Who the fuck am I not? Kid? Rock? No, there's only one Yeah, you know that I can drink Coors, but not not like him. Not like him. No one can, No one can. He's the best, you know people. People keep talking about the sort of dream scenario of bringing it all back home and just having Harmonics make a new Guitar Hero. Sure that'd be fun, but I almost wonder. I mean, they spent so much time and effort building the rock band brand, Guitar Hero and rock band. I guess, like, yeah, like would they even want to do that? I mean, I guess if they didn't have as you know, if they didn't have another choice, Like I don't know, Yeah, who knows what'll even happen with that stuff. I think that like, I think that that stuff should come back. I think that would be cool. It would be neat. Yeah, yeah, maybe not as all consuming as it was the first time, but yeah, having it around, they've said as much as like, you know, I think, you know, there's been interviews with Alex Rogopolis where they're like, oh, you know, rock band, we'd like to you know, like they're not in production right now. In a new rock band was the thing that they had to come out and say when people were like four like nope, But we have some ideas about what we would do when they see equal to rock band. So I, yeah, I don't know. I think that the pro instrument was maybe kind of a you know, like a really awesome but probably too much for most people. So I'd say cutting it back to you know, kind of the core of it is, right, but then what do you do on top of that to kind of build it out? I think it's to me, it's the business model, you know of DLC and that sort of stuff, Like, if you're doing that right, you're you know, like the karaoke model, is the hourly rate, that sort of stuff is the right way to do that stuff, absolutely, And but I don't know anything about the business that would go into that and if that's even viable because of what they would have to pay artists and what they would have paid to get the rights and all that stuff, like who knows sure, But that would be how I would like it. Yeah, that would be cool. And then at that point, you know, like you could almost say, like, well, what if they just completely divorced it from the consoles completely? Yo, this guitar has software in it, hook it up to your TV. Huh, yikes. I don't know. I think that that's probably foolish. But I've seen some people like float that idea around. Is like it's like something but like, you know, there was a lot of space in those things. Yeah, what do you think it would be a good price point for like the hourly stuff? Eight bucks? I don't know, like for like four hours. Yeah, I was gonna say eight bucks an hour, but I don't want Maybe it's a much. I was gonna say, Yeah, I bet they would do it in like one to three hour blocks. Yeah, they would basically tailor it to an evening, you know, right, they would make it. They would make it so that people could play it for an evening, right, Yeah, but that would offer a twenty four hour yeah, and then also a monthly subscription for people that are going to be heavy users. Yeah, it would, it would. It would go from there. But the baseline I think would probably be by the hour or by the two or three hours or whatever. Yeah, I'm trying to think. I never actually messed with the the Xbox three sixty carry up. I didn't either think that was hourly. Yeah, it was a good idea, and it felt like nobody had paid any attention to it. I feel like even then, like the concept was kind of on its way out and like singing singing to your console. Yeah, you can sing into your phone. Yeah, that's true. Star. They added a bunch of music they've they've you know when we did that look at the game back in December. Since then, they have added more modern and more North American focused music to that thing, like kind of more pop hits. They saw our video, yeah, they were like, oh yeah, I guess yeah. No one wants to fucking sing take that. Those those guys make a great point. We should we should get which five in this game? All right? Ford apparently announced to Ford some motorsports six. Excuse me, Ford's uh m hm m all right. So I was not around when this happened. Did they? Was this last night? Was this an inadvertent like Ford tweeted something they shouldn't have. No, No, this was like they got out on stage, Like they rolled out on stage in a four GT and said four Motormur six because there's a car show. Happened, Okay, right now, I was trying to figure out where the usman is attached to that. So the four Twitter account then Microsoft quickly kind of followed it up or simultaneously who whatever, you know. In my in my timeline of events, I saw someone retweeting something from the FOURD account, and that was how I discovered there was a Forts and Motorsport six. Then I looked at my email a couple of minutes later, and there was a video and and like a couple of quotes. I didn't need all that to tell you there'd be a four to six, I know, right, yeah, but here we are. But here we are. I gave any details whatsoever. The four GT will be on the cover of the game. Yea seven twenty seventeen, seventeen. I can't believe we're talking about a twenty seventeen product here. Yeah. Well, if it makes you feeling better, it'll be out in twenty sixteen. We sure, as well as the new must A, new F one, fifty raptor. I guess they also announced there. Those are all in the game. And then the quotes from them are still just the same exact same thing that they always say about FORTSA where it's like we're bringing together the pageantry of love of cars and love of video games, and like that doesn't really say anything about the direction of the game. Itself or anything like that. Okay, and then, uh, as you say in the story, there is no confirmed date for this thing yet, but it's probably safe. I think that someone got out there and said, yes, it'll be out this year. They did say they will have gameplay eighty three, they did say that they'll have more soon, all that sort of stuff. So so they are full on one hundred percent annual. Now with Fortsa, you think just everyone on a two year cycle, full play around in turn ten on two year cycles. Yeah, but then what I mean does that mean the Horizon three next year? That that is literally what that would mean? Yeah, that seems fast. I agree, Maybe get like a third four to the product in the station. What would it be? I have no idea forts that doesn't have real cars in it, and you can break them up real nice and drive them into stuff, and it's got eight player multiplayer and you get to do these fun challenges like who's can do a flat spin through a fucking construction site? Yeah, forts A Rush sounds fun. Yeah, who could make such a game? I don't know, no one, no one anymore, nobody on the planet has skills like that. Nope, all right, Well more forts exciting. I guess yeah, Fortsa Air Races. I mean yeah, I hope that, you know, like the there were disappointing things about I hope that they make good arm on that franchise again, because you know, three and four were really good. Yeah. If anything, maybe they are excited about the chance to get out and prove themselves again after five had some issues. Uh damn, I'm sorry, Yes, to let you know the Grand Theft out of five has been delayed on the PC. Damn it. Until when I had not actually heard that Mary, we're gonna have to get the PS four one. It was maybe I don't know. Yeah, well whatever, man, you already beat the game once you but I want to play it again. I really like that game. Yeah, but it's gonna be I bet the PC vert it's gonna be pretty great. Well, yeah it was Specs, didn't they. Yeah they did so. Yeah. They People have been talking like it was coming at the end of this month for quite a while, but then the Steam date steam date change to like TBA or something, and that it got people speculating, and then here we are with an end of the quarter release date, and they were pretty upfront and like rock Star posted a little thing saying like, we don't make these decisions lightly, but in this case, like we expected to, you know, make the game a lot better. But yeah, they put out specs and like TA four, if you remember on the PC was kind of a mess when it came out, like insane hardware requirements and even when you met them, it didn't run well. Well you have to turn off the weird like DVR, like yeah there was stuff. Yeah, like it was. It shipped with settings that we're making it even worse. The even the minimum or im I'm sorry, even the recommended specs on five are pretty modest. Like we're talking like an old older Core I five. Uh a a GTX six sixty. Oh that's the records recommended? Oh wow, like the the the minimum video cards are are a G four's ninety eight hundred GT which I had forgotten about the existence of, or a Radion forty eight seventy, which I mean those are ancient cards, well those recommended. That recommended card, would you say, that's roughly equivalent to a PS four and an Xbox onely in the performance Yes, actually it's the Radion as an HD seventy eight seventy, which is I know, the GPU and the consoles is somewhere in the seven thousand series. Yeah, so I mean that's that's shooting, So that kind of makes sense. I guess. Yeah, it's just a matter of like how much over that can you go and how will will how well will the game scale up beyond those recommended like kind of soldish settings. So it they put out some screenshots in four K, this thing will render at four K? Did they like, did they fucking name drop? Did they like drop the term four K in parts of this? I'm not sure. I don't know if they did, because like the Canami press release for Ground zero is like metal gear out in four K for the first time. It was like, how about fuck you marketing buzzword? That yeah, coming out of coming out of CES like it's fucking here. Sure, four K is absolutely three D, Like yeah, or what three D was three years ago? It was sharp Head the fucking eight K TV this year? Yeah they had that years ago. Yeah yeah, I know, but like in a form that was actually going to ship to retailers this year. I saw that with my eyes. I was, you know, I was I was riding to log down a hill. I was I was really all they've got. Buy the TV. It comes with that on a blue ray. Just watch it on loop. Yeah, it's it's sixty seconds long. That's all I could fit on that blue ray. Wait, sure even coming off of blue ray. I don't know. I don't. Probably, I don't think conventional blue ray players can even do four K yet. I'm not sure. Yeah, probably not. I was, you know, I was pretty excited looking at CES because I'm really interested in OLED TV's uh, and there are a couple of manufacturers getting behind them in a pretty major way. Yeah. But all of the models that they debuted for four K, right, that's like it's not just enough to get an old ed TV, it's also a four K TV on the bargain like old is that's not a number that is higher than the old number? What is old? It's LED with an O on the front. Does that mean I don't even know? Right? Organic? Right? Yes? Yes, they grow these splays, they do, they do. They do grow them in a vat. Uh. The best buy near me has the first or their first at least not the first. But they've got their first old LED set like for sale on the floor and you can just go see it. How's it look? What's the what's the catch? Like, I'm gonna go see it. I want to see it. So what is the what is the catch with old LAD? Is it infinite contrasts? Fuck infinite that's a lot of contrast contrasts, more than ten thousand to one. Uh. My understanding is that since each pixel is its own individual light source. Yeah, you know when something when the pixel is off, it's just off. There's no light coming out, so it's one hundred percent black. But then that gives you every every level of gradation from black all the way up to white or whatever. Ye Like, it's the few reviews I've read of those TVs say like flat out, like every like every first review i've seen a TV site do of an old TV, like they just come right out and say, like, this is the best looking TV we've ever seen. Buy a mile Like it sounds really yeah, it sounds like it's OK, we're not out of you know, a normal price, right? No? No, no. Also, the last year's LAD the best Buy stocks is thirty five hundred dollars. So they haven't announced pricing on the ones that just got unveiled at CES, but it should be cheaper than that. Yeah, they're getting there. I know this is a lot of like, do you think this is the year to buy an old TV? Oh, I would never buy like the first one that was affordable that. I would always wait for the next model because it will be cheaper and better. Because I'm getting close to as I, as I get closer and closer to building a home office, I will need another television. You know, if they come in at like two grand or less, you know, it might not be the craziest thing to look at. One sure, Actually, I think at back LG did announce one ten ADP a LAD at fifty five, so that if that was cheap enough, that's a good set that might be worth looking at. How's the response rates on I don't know. So I don't know about any of that stuff. I don't know what response time is. Like they were having like major burning problems with the LAD for a while, I don't know. I don't know if the great I don't know if they fixed that or not. That was the thing that like maybe paranoid about buying this fucking plasmat I hate so much. It turns out everything except LCD has major burning problems, right, because CRT did too. Yeah if you remember, well yeah, yeah, anyway, I'm excited my own a fucking missile command machine. Also, they had a TV. They had a TV at CS that could be curve for flat at the touch of a button. Why, I don't know, but I want to see it. What was the do you remember? What was the selling point? Did they even bother to come up with one for curve displays? Not at all? At any point did they say, like, here's why, this is the thing you might want, but you're just like, fuck you is curved. That's basically as far as I know, asholes or like cinema screens like a long time ago, curved, like those huge theaters. Yeah, like the like way. I just I don't think the geometry works out for the way people watch living room TVs. Like a curve monitor makes sense because your face is right in it, right, so like the curve is practically going to wrap around your peripheral vision. But for something for something smaller than relatively that you're sitting all the way across a room for like, all that does is make it harder to see if you're sitting off to the side of it. So yeah, the fu fuck Curve TV is they're stupid. Uh my apologies if you bought one. Yoh that shit is curved. Yes, uh there was a New Friday the thirteenth game coming, says Alex by way of Electronic Gaming Monthly. What oh yeah, okay, yep, yep, yeah that still exists. That is still a thing. Sorry, just buying an issue from like ninety one. But yeah, man, look, yeah, Alex, that came out on the Super INEOS. Sorry, oh yeah, they I buy it for the special megaplace inside talking about all my favorite Genesis games, I found a uh I think it was a tumbler speaking of of old EGM scans. Yeah, that I was all excited about, but then they all turned out to be from like the era after I stopped reading EGM. Yeah, it was like, in fact, i'm gonna think of it was after I started working at game Spot, So at that point, like you knew all that ship. Well not only did I know it, but like like we were reporting it in a more forward looking manner, you know, at that point, like I want to see some nineties magazine scans back when that was the only thing that there are scans of the full runs of New Yeah, I'm sure I could get all that stuff out there. Yeah, that stuff exists. I'm sure I could get all technically, Yeah, of course, uh old stuff. It's kind of break the law and download a run of e GM two. When they decided needed a magazine out every two weeks, but you had to subscribe to this one separately. I did. I think I might have for a little bit too. I don't think there was a game magazine I didn't subscribe to. I mean Insight. That's heavy to wow. Really yeah, Ultra game players. Insights stole our fucking copy editor. Fuck Insight, God damn it. They had the rock on the first cover. Yeah yeah they did. Wait, well, they had two magazines. There was the one that was like more video game focused, and then one that was like a little more celebrity focused. It was that was no the GM of They had two magazines. That might be it, because the whole gimmick of Insight was it's like, hey, we're gonna get into like the lifestyle, to have iced tea talking about Resident Evil, or here's the rock on the cover holding a Nintendo sixty four controller. Those guys moved into the office one floor down from us in the Town Building. Wait, who was their publisher? And then they were It was Germans it was computech Oh right, Okay, Spenson worked there. Okay, Wait, so Insight was not necessarily low brow? Right? No? No, I think I was mixing up Inside and PCXL, which was decidedly low brow, was it? I That wouldn't. Will Smith worked for a PC accelerator, so he was Maximus. He worked for Boot I won't. I think I'd remember a couple of people from PCXL, but I won't name drop them because that was like a Do you remember that magazine was basically trying to be a TNA rag? I don't. I totally don't remember that. At some point, like the cummings and goings of print magazines were just like all of them just seemed so like, why would you do this? It was like a lowrider magazine that kind of kind of It was just it was very explicit, with a lot of scandily clad women and stuff inside could get pretty low brow. I actually was looking through an issue when I was at my dad's house, like a month ago, and on the cover was some model from a show called Son of the Beach, and the whole thing was all the girls. It was like a Baywatch parody show, and they had all the girls like, Hey, we're gonna have them play Dead or Live Beach Volleyball and all these other games with like hot chicks, and they're gonna judge which games the hottest chicks. Like that was the cover story. Sure, I've insights, so like it got pretty low brow. Yeah, oh, video game magazines Friday thirteenth, remember that, I mean, yeah that any game is terrible. Four game was like fun for being dumb? Wait which game? Commodo sixty four EJM talked to the creator of Friday thirteenth. I had no idea that there was a creat but like when you think about like creators of horror franchises, it's usually like the director of the movie. I guess, I guess. I never really Yeah, I never really thought of Friday thirteenth is having that person. But okay, Shawn S. Cunningham is his name. He didn't say who's making it. He said, quote an experienced game studio is working on a new Friday the thirteenth game mark Echo Games targeted for this October. Luppers of Dexter for iOS. Uh sounds kind of neat aiming for a multiplayer focus take on the Predator prey gameplay most recently utilized in an Alien Isolation. So if it was, it also sounds kind of evolved. I was just gonna say, yeah, like if Alex even made the evolved comparison in the UK Scream game Scream Yes, right, what did that come out on? It did? Nothing? Okay. It's a cool idea though, like like one player as Jason versus like four people. Yeah, with kind of like imp improvised implements of like you know, ways of defending themselves and stuff. Sixty four game, you could pick up a fork and use it, I think, but the best weapon was Jason's stick. It was just a fucking white block you would hit people with. There was an axe also. The axe was really good, but then it was this was just the axe without the blade on it. It's just like it was just more effective than the ax. Yeah, I think, so it was just a fucking stick. I would go kill all the other kids. I don't know, Okay. An open world game, it would play Teddy Bears Picnic in one part of it. Hell of a game. Are those movies good? I've never seen one. I don't know, really like work same here. Uh in the coming weeks, it says we will find out who was making this game, and he guesses, Hu, maybe it could be I don't know. I don't know. There's people looking through the window at me. It threw me off. I'm sorry, all right. Some guy just like stuck his head around the corner of the window to look directly at me. Yeah. It was probably Jason, knowing that we're talking about Friday thirteen. Yeah, it's obsessed with it because of his name, Jason. I don't know if that's a part of it, but he is like super obsessed. Okay, all right. One last story. Uh it comes from Kataku where this uh, this plucky young reporter Patrick Kleptok appears to be his name. That's a short story. Remember uh in old Namco games when you could play Gallagha in the loading screen? Yeah? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I saw that on Ghana Sutra. That pattents. Yeah, that pattent is up really in a few months, yeah great, November, no, no, No, twenty seven is when that patent expires this year. So we got a little ways to go the patent for being able to put it in for for putting a playable game in a loading screen. So you think about rid race Station one where you could play like rally X, Yeah, some other games. The first second was those jerks went and patented that idea before the concept of doing that. Is it just classic games or yeah, it's like that's why you've never seen it. It's like being able to being able to place like do something else in the middle of the loading screen has been owned by Namco all this time, specifically loading screens. Yes, what about little things like making the now loading thing and something that I swirl around that's probably does not count. It probably does not count. Same with the Assassin's Creed. But I bet that Namco could probably make a case for some of that stuff. But that's why the way they wanted to defend it, that's vigorously. That's why all all those companies have lawyers to advise them on what they can get away with and stuff. But weird, it's just like every controller not made. My Nintendo was lacking the traditional cross shaped deepad until very recently. Well even then they usually have something funky like you know, PlayStation. It's all kind of like separated Xbox. That's why they did that. I mean the Xbox One just straight up as the Nintendo style Plus. Isn't it kind of curved? I mean it's a little bit concave, but it's still a plus. Like it's huh, it's nothing like that big disc shaped rocker. That was one that was the worst on the original three sixty controller. Remember when they made the one that could rotate and they said it would turn it into like a real DEEPAD And it totally didn't. Oh, it totally did. It felt like garbage. Still, it's an awesome controller, but it's yeah, well it's it's better that deepad better. Yeah, it is not a real DEEPAD. You're locking it down to a fucking different gait or something. But it was. It was. It was very close. Uh, arguably the best controller ever made. That's better, better than the two current ones. I think, like, I don't know, that's kind of kind of a toss up with the PS four. I'll take the PS four as I still think the triggers are too flimsy on that thing. I'd take three six close number two, but PS four is my favorite. The Xbox One is pretty good too. I like the PS four way better than the Xbox one. Too. I don't like the analytics sticks and the Xbox much, especially like using on a PC, like like now that I'm you know, using it there he's on an Xbox One. Yeah, that's it's not a great I don't I don't like it. I think the triggers are really good on the Xbox One. Yeah, that's bad. I don't like the bumpers, the bumper Yeah. I don't like the bumpers a little hard. And you're right, the sticks are just feel flimsy and the tops of them are too small and blah blah blah controllers. How about blah blah blah. Emails. Emails. Let's let's move on to emails, because fuck podcast just went and went all right, uh, all right, let's get right into it with the email address. You didn't think I was gonna say it. I didn't. I fooled you. BombCast Giant bomb dot com. Did you make a note on your sheet? Oh I didn't. Okay, I started to say something and that I did, and I was like, wait, very nice, bombcastgive on dot com. That's where you send your emails. That's what Ken from Pittsburgh did when he sent in an email entitled e three cheering from the media. Yeah, it's weird, it sucks, well stupid. Let me read the email, okay, because I have not personally witnessed much of it. My question concerns the applause, cheering and hooplah over her during press conferences at E three. It's my understanding that E three is a press only event. That's not exactly accurate, with few, if any non media members making the way of the show. No, it is a trade event. Yeah, industry, yes, so anybody that anybody that can prove they work in the game industry and just about any capacity can be there. You can work at a game game stop and get well. Of course, getting into a press conference is a different as a second level of access. You just have to get invited to the press conference. Sure, you can't just show up with your E three badge. Often that's a lot of developers or people that work for the oh yeah, like PR PR marketing. Anyway, let meately fish the Yeah. So yeah, his initial premise was not quite accurate. But anyway, every year during the big press conferences, I hear enthusiastic and excited cheering during the big announcements. An example would be from Sony's conference two years ago when they announced the price and lack of DRM on the PS four, Sony got a huge ovasion from the crowd. So that's an even different case. Yes it is, But let me get through the email and Jack Trenton's smile got wider and wider as he dropped each hook. Since you guys have been there, I want to know, do press members cheer when they hear exciting video game news at these things? Are there more average gamers at E three than I realize? If the media members are cheering to any of you see that as a problem with regard to maintaining your objectivity as video game journalists. Lastly, if you don't make a ruckets during these announcements, is there any sort of announcement that would, like, say, the addition of four new plans to Destiny or an all new three D platforming adventure starring La Luvighi. I think polite applause is appropriate. Yeah, yeah, that's that's kind of more than anything what I've seen from golf press type stuff. Yes, four flawed people, yeah, yeah, sure, yeah. When people are coming to the stage, not like they don't say something, you go, yeah, So that Sony press conference a couple of years ago. The whole front row, the whole front section of that was them letting fans in from their PlayStation blog, like their social media channels whatever. So me and Vinnie ended up up in there that section. You go back and listen to those podcasts around that time, but it was fucking pandemonia and I was scared for my life because that was when they said Kingdom Parts three and they were just people fucking losing their fucking minds. So there were people crying. I don't know if people are crying. That was that was that Nintendo press conference. Yes, there were definitely tears of the Twilight. So yeah, like that that in that case, they seeded the crowd with those people, and those people did exactly what Sony hope they would. You watched the official video feed too. They cut right to them like they just cameras play perfectly. Yeah, yeah, cut the hip hop gamer holding up his belt. Sure, yeah, yeah, he's the champion. And then in some other cases is like you hear, especially like first party stuff like that when they an e a person comes up on stage, you hear a certain section of the crowd get really excited, and then Ubisoft comes up here a different section of the crowd get really excited. So everyone's kind of cheering their own home teams. A lot of publishing publishers and people get invited to those press conferences. It's not all media, Like a lot of people that work for the company, yeah are there. Yeah, yeah, the company. They're pretty rowdy. Yeah. So yeah, So it's not all press of those things. And generally speaking, I think, you know, the press has gotten better about not fucking freaking out and some of that stuff, but it definitely you see some of it. At the same time, you know, everybody likes what they like, and if totally like I you know, they're definitely announcement's there that I'm like, fucking awesome, yea excited about, but you know, like I'm holding my phone saying something on Twitter about it, you know, figuring something out, you know, like I'm they're kind of doing things. Sure, it used to be taking notes or live blogging back when that seemed like an idea it was worth pursuing. Good Moving on to Louise and Manchester, who asks about PlayStation five and Xbox two. So the new consoles have been out for a year, it's time to look to the future. Yeah, what do you expect? Hope and dream will happen seven to eight years from now. God, it's hard to imagine it being that long, but maybe it will be. Will we even have to wait that long for new consoles? How many frames per second can be achieved? I guess she's basically just you know, thirty. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I think I think that changes this generation if if if anything has driven home the fact that most developers are going to squeeze out more fidelity over higher framemaates never going to get there. Yeah, the beautiful sixty frame per second future is not going to come to consoles ever, right, metal your solid to get a piece two sixty frame second. I mean, they're always exceptions, but the general trend is away from that for sure. Yeah. I mean, you know, you see a lot of people that are looking at the way consoles are selling right now and going like everything's five fine, look at that. All the health people love these consoles, they want these consoles. And you see some other people that are saying like these might be the last set of consoles we ever see. I think either's possible. Yeah, it's really hard to say. I want to VR to be standard for everything by that time. Nope, no, no, no, are you not on board with all that? I think that for certain types of games it'll be fucking incredible. And I think there are plenty of types of games, like I don't want to play a two D fighter and have to wear a helmet. Yeah, that's true. That's a good point. I have been surprised when I've done oculus, like three D platformers a third person and can play a Lucky's Tail thing the thing and packs east or packs. Yeah, and it worked fine. It was cool, like using your head as the camera and uh yeah, but you're right, like a two D fighter' it's not for everything. Yeah, you know, I'm visual novels will continue to continue to exist. Yeah, the R can only make them so much better. What if instead of a giant head mounted unit, you had like a little pair of glasses that projected directly onto the receptors in your eyes. Sure, here's how stupid I am speaking of that concept. When I was a kid, do you remember when Tiger Electronics put out they would advertise like AGM and stuff. It looked like a virtual It was like a headset thing. It was a strap and it was a little thing like a little Star Trek looking thing with a clear window over one eye. Yeah, and the ads made it look like it was beaming the game directly into your eyeballs, remember this, And I was like, oh my god, that sounds incredible, and like that's all I wanted for Christmas that year, and it was game specific, so it's like the one I wanted was the Virtual Fighter Tiger VR thing or whatever. And I was like, that's going to be amazing, Like the ads make it look like it just beams up straight into your eye. Like I don't remember if I had the Internet at this point, Like I was an idiot kid. Sure, and I bought it and I thought it was going to be like I was in Virtual Fighter and I put it on when I got for Christmas, and it literally just displayed. It beamed out a thing onto the clear little window with like the graphical fidelity of the old Tiger electronics, just wire frame, just red. It's the only color it did. It was the most disappointed Christmas I've ever had. Man, Man, I want to find one of those Nalangy Just how shitty that was because I tried to force myself to like, yes, yes, I think that was it. Yeah, they had Virtual Fighter and they had fun What else did they have? But yeah, the Virtual Fighter is definitely one I had, and it was fucking garbage, I bet ours. Yeah, I'm gonna look that up, all right. I don't know. I don't know what I would want in new consoles. I feel like the new ones are still too new to say what the next ones should be. Yeah. Yeah, uh like asking in like three or four years, I guess probably have a lot of clearer picture of where we think these new ones have succeeded in failed. I always think, you know, like the VR stuff school and all that, but I actually think that if you got a really good quality holographic display like the sag Arcade games, but actually good and bigger and you know, and the stuff, you can kind of look at it from different angles a little bit, Like, I think that would actually be really cool, a little game table that projects two D fighting up there. I mean neat, I don't know, that'd be like a weird retro futuristic kind of thing almost at this point, but sure, uh yeah, I don't know. I mean, we'll go down the VR road as far as it makes sense, and you know, maybe that'll take take hold, maybe it won't. You know, it's still a big ask for busy people and people that are more casual with their gameplay. Sure, you know, to say like, hey, put this on and disappear from the rest of the world. Don't look at your phone. If you have kids, tell them to shut the fuck up. You can't hear them anyway, You're off in this other world. Like, there are a lot of people that are not in a position to do that. I'm optimistic that it's going to completely take off because it's one of the few things to where like, you know, I remember I had naculists at home for a while and I would you know, have dates or whatever that weren't into video games, and it was always a fun test, like, you know, I wouldn't ask them to play something, right this roller coaster. Yeah, it was all like yeah, the rift coaster and stuff like that, and the thing where you're going through space and and everyone was amazed by it. Like these girls that like never ever play video games were blown away. And I think it's gonna be those things to where you know, the hardcore be able to play video games are going to buy this thing and show it to their parents or sure, I think you know, it's like it's just say, mom, swing this like a tennis racket. Totally. It's amazing technology. Yeah, Like it's fucking mind blowing that we're getting to a point where like we can talk about VR in a way that like it's actually going to come home in a way that will finally make good on some of those early promises. But you know, like, you know, is it going to be the thing that's going to be huge mainstream success and and all that, Like that's the part where I go, like, a, you know, I think it still hasn't been tested in a mainstream way enough. The virtuality centers of the nineties did not do the job. No one played Dactyl Nightmare. Not enough people played Daktel Nightmare to for us to say, yeah, I think we are years and years away from a product that appeals to everybody. Yeah, like it doesn't, doesn't. It hasn't even come close to existing yet. And then you know, like they have to build up an install base with that stuff to make it worthwhile for developers to support it. You know, you'll get a lot of mileage out of developers looking at that thing and going that's fucking awesome. We have to support this awesome thing. But you know, when it gets back to business decisions and placing bets and spending money to support that stuff right or wrong, you know, then then that's that's the part when we got like, well i'll do enough of these things exists? Is it worth it? Are they still selling like, you know, deth kids basically yeah, yeah, you know, you see can buy like the newest version like Crystal coastal kits I think is the most recent, aren't they. I thought that was the thing after d K two. Oh okay, so maybe it's just DK two. Yeah, that's the only that's the only thing they're selling me wrong, all right. I think I might buy one tonight. I have might deficate one. I don't know. That's the one they're iterating. They're iterating so much on that stuff. It doesn't seem like a good use of money right now, and I just I haven't. I mean, there was like when the first dev get hit, you had that initial wave of people making awesome prototypes and awesome stuff, and you got those and tried it all out, and then deficit two came along and people like, oh, this is better, but like, I feel like the software isn't coming at the rate that it I mean, granted, it's still not commercially available, and you know, like why would it be, But I don't think there's a great reason to buy one right now. Yeah, I'm messing around with it. I would wait for the commercial release point. I don't think they're not that far away. Do you think this holiday? Maybe maybe I don't even know that they'll position it as a holiday things like that. I don't know that there will even be And then you know, it's like Sony's got Morpheus. Everyone's talking that Microsoft has their own equivalent project in the works. Of course they do. You know, everyone's going to eventually come to market with this shit, and there'll be enough reasons for people to develop software for it, and hopefully that'll work. I mean, if anything, you know, the problem you run into there is like you know, if it collectively ends up being the next connect where it's like it works for the most part, but it's you know, inconvenient and doesn't work with the way I play games, And you know, there's a lot of things, so much time on R and D. I mean Oculus is for sure. Yeah, I think, you know, like I wonder how much equivalent time and money Sony and Microsoft or spending or if they're just kind of looking to Oculus and hoping that they figure out the big problems and then riding them on the coat tails and go we were here too. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. That's not Like the point that Jeff is making, if I'm understanding correctly, is that a lot of the hurdles with that thing aren't necessarily something that more technology can solve, you know, like you said, how do you get it that into stores in a way that people can test out for themselves and experience it for themselves? Right? Everyone getting pink eye? And but on top of that stuff, I mean the amount of stuff you have to wrestle with in your home to make it work, and then shutting yourself off from your life for X number of hours and like not being able to look down at your controls, Like there are just a lot of like logistical and practical realities of that thing that are probably gonna turn a lot of people off. You can buy track I R right now? All right, problems off? You wear a fancy hat at the same time. Yeah, I want a headband with that on their sweatband or something. You know, John seen a sweatband. You get a hat thing or you can they have a little clip that clips to your headphones. Oh right, let's go with it makes sense? Yeah, all right, Ben from Austria is here with an urgent message. Dave Lane stole your ship. Damn it, he says, figures. Hey, guys. A few days ago, I was listening to old Bomb cast, especially the MGS four spoiler cast, in which Jeff explains that it is Oh, that's fine. Jeff explains that it is an additional podcast, calling it the Addition Addition, God fucking diap. I knew. I knew that would be the reaction. Now. It could be pure coincidence that mister Lange is using the same name for his dive Kick update, but I can't believe that a man of this much swag and pure evil hadn't planned this out for years. Contact the lawyers. You may use this information to blackmail him into making a new Windjammer's remake. We'll get right on that. Uh. Yeah, that's uh, that's hard to reconcile. It's true, Yeah, I think when the court gets ahold of this, these these two facts that have come to light, huh. I think someone's looking to settle. I think Dave Lange is gonna have a hard time explaining this one away. That's right, that's why he ran off to Malaysia. Also, Drew, I don't think he could spoil for you if you wanted to. Okay, it's not only because I don't remember it. Like imagine someone trying to spoil the end of two but nope, but worse. Yeah yeah, great, can't wait. Okay, Uh, let's see the things that happen in that game aren't incredible more specifically none, yeah, none, more so in some in some ways than those FMV weird TV bits. Oh god, that's right. Oh yeah, that they made as they wanted to spend a lot of a lot of money making those weird game that's so good. Okay, I know wants us to Okay, yep, I know writes in and wants us to settle an argument. That's what we're here for. Greetings of salutations, bombardiers. I have a pressing issue that requires your expert in alyssons and opinions. My girlfriend and I have recently been having a series of verbal bouts over particularly silly subject. We listened to the podcast together and I was hoping that you could finally put an end to this debate of hours. My girl friend and argues the toilet paper brands matter, and that buying the more expensive toilet paper is the smart choice because it's better for your body than using some cheap sand papers toilet paper that is on sale at a convenience store. I argue that all toilet paper is the same, and that one's ass does not need gilded silk to clean it, and that the cheap discount toilet paper is no different from her lavender scented import silk toilet paper that's probably made in the same exact factory as the cheap stuff. All right, look, man, what's say you all? Recently? She said that my views on toilet paper were quite butch, quote unquote, and I thought that you all should settle this vital issue before it escalated any further. I'm just gonna lay this out here in a simple, easy to understand way. Hopefully girls use toilet paper in ways that boards don't get the better toilet paper. Okay, no, listen, Well, I'm a single dude. It's maybe it's easy for me to say that I don't have that. I don't have that as a problem. Yeah, then you get the cheapest, get the fucking s Just go fucking open up, drop a quarter in an newspaper, stand, steal all the newspapers. You're good. No, no, no, there's a there is a reason that no one's brought up that you get the cheap toilet paper. First of all, well, it's cheaper, so that's great. Second of all, it decreases the odds of your toilet plushing or flooding. Yes, so that's why you get the cheaper one, because nothing on the planet is worse than when you realize your toilet is flooding. I was using a toilet paper that I was acquiring from Costco in bulk, and it was a brand name stuff, but it was it was thicker and textured and all this other stuff, and my toilet clocked up constantly. Yeah, and it's the worst thing that can happen to a person. I have changed brands since then, and well it just cloggs. It doesn't flood. I gotta plunger it. It's not it's not overflowing. Okay, it would if I kept flushing it, but I that's I don't do that. Okay, good, that's wait. Is your toilet overflowing that has happened in the past before I learned lessons? Yeah, that you know happen. Yeah, I mean, clogging up is one thing, but there are ways to deal with it. I was at my friend Charlie's house, and don't tell me you flooded somebody else's toilet. I flooded his toilet. It overflowed all over the floor. I had to you. I was at his house, so I had to use his towels, and he made me throw them away because they were the poop towels, and so I had to buy him new towels that didn't did use the towels without asking, No, he gave them to me. But he's like, but then you got to throw away the poop towels, man, So I bought him non poops. Oh shit, that was a bad Night's Sean Coot's kind of situation. God, that's right. Yeah, there's a specific situation. I freak out when I'm going to the bathroom and a toilet that doesn't have a plunger nearby, like I'm at a friend's house or something like, you need to have a plunger next to every toilet. All right, great, I'm so glad I included this email. Uh, if we reached consensus, we feel good about this response. This guy's lady friend is right. I think he is right. I think she is a lady in his situation. Okay, alright, well, maybe have to I have to have the chief stuff for the fella and then have the fancy stuff for the lady. Well it sounds like that's not the sit here. I don't know, but my understanding, he is certainly wrong in saying that all toilet papers is the same. Yes, yes, as someone who has had a brand that that repeatedly clogged up my toilet. It is a consideration, perhaps not in this case from the sound of it. Yeah, m man, I would say this is a divisive subject. Get nice toilet paper, you're worth it. The difference in price is not that much. As cheap as possible. Yeah, have you guys seen the stuff that doesn't have the role in it? What my girlfriend bought it? That doesn't exist. It's expensive, that defies physics. Oh, it's you pay more for less stuff. There's no cardboard tube, but the basically you know the number of phone cords and controller extension cables and other stuff I've thrown into toilet paper rolls as an easy way to keep them bound. That's a good idea. Yeah, huh. We only got the one package. It was like shockingly expensive, fair enough, it was not worth it? All right, goodness, where are we here? We are? Come on, simple note. I've been using the Jason A Striker cable winding method for everything in my life. It's confusing. It's not until you learn how to do it different than Viny's old method. Uh. Yes, well, I mean that's good for long XLR thick XLR cables, although Jason is his method with those as well. Should I try to describe it? Let's go take a look, maybe shoot video and put it on the site or something I might be able to. It's confusing. Every time I go to unwind a thing that Jason's done, it just gets all right, let me time. Let me try make it real fast. You've got like a say, like a three thirty seconds a three foot piece of string. All right, we'll just use that as the example. Uh, put both ends together so that you've got a loop. Grasp the side of this loop at the grasp the two ends, okay, and then take the rest of it like the hen ends are just sticking out the bottom of your fist. Take the rest of it and then wrap it around your four fingers. Right, you've already lost me. Yeah, this is this is gonna sort of like Eagle Scout logic puzzle, Like you get your final badge when you do this. It's not that it's not that it's impossible to describe. Your time has elapsed. Put it. Put it in a video or something. Yeah, all right, make him demonstrate that it's so easy and it changed my life. Make make it a upf segment. Put it up as a video under the headline this cable winding method will change this one weird trick. Toilet paper rolls hate him all right. Dan from Long Island describes himself as a faithful fan. Sure what that means. I was listening to the June thirtieth, two thousand and nine bomb cast, where we all for whatever reason, Yeah, of course, uh, And I noticed Ryan read an email from an ller Coltrane from Austin, Texas, and I was intrigued. I just watched the movie Boyhood that was released earlier this year, and the actor that plays the main character has that name and lived in Austin. Incidence, I think, not just an interesting thing that I felt like sharing, being that this kid can win an oscar in a few months. Thanks for the bomb cast every week, you guy's rule. I don't know if I'm making this up. I tried to find where I saw this or think I saw this initially and couldn't, but I swear I saw some people saying recently that they had gone through they had looked back over his Twitter account and he had tweeted at us oh wow multiple times. Really yes, because is the kid if you haven't see if you're not familiar with Boyhood, it's the the link later film that was just went yeah, yeah, I guess it won Best Picture the Golden Globes. It was shot over twelve years, as this kid like grows up from the age of six to eighteen. Like, they just shot a couple scenes every year, so it's basically like watching this kid age along with the storyline. But yeah, I am almost sure. I saw some people saying that he had been on Twitter trying to communicate with us two or three years ago, so that probably was him. I really want to see that movie The Road Out. Yeah, it sounds interesting. I don't know uh much else about it. Well, if if he's out there listening, congratulations and hello, yeah, yes, yes, on your newfound success and fame. Uh yeah, that's good. Eric from somewhere doesn't say all right, jibomb on new consoles. The PS four has sort of become the centerpiece of our living room, so I end up watching a majority of your content on my nice big television. That way. While the web browser gets the job done, it still lacks a lot in a few key ways to make the content easier to stream and enjoy. Have you considered placing an app on the current consoles? Yes, it's not as easy as snapping your fingers and going here we go. Yeah, you know, there's there's money involved, as all sorts of other stuff. I need to return some emails and check in on a couple of contract things on in one of these cases to see if it is something that we can even do. But it is something that, yes, we thought about it. In the meantime. It is not the ideal way to do this, but you could theoretically run plex on your home PC. There are is a there's a concept of channels on Plex where you can, you know, get other websites content onto your thing. There is a Plex app for Giant Bomb. There is a Plex app for the Xbox One. Currently it is also out on the PS four in some territories. It is not out in the US yet and in theory. Nope, I'm sorry now that I think about it. The Xbox One version of Plex, I don't think as channel support that only plays your local media, so maybe that doesn't actually work, Yeah, which is frustrating, but yeah, so I would love to do it. It'd be great, stay tuned. Yeah, this is what you're saying. Yeah, all right, Yeah, it's a PostScript, Brad. I know that you love your boj Angles, but I always wondered what your opinion was of Biscuitville. Who has a better biscuit? I have never been to Biscuitville. It's a good name, but it's incredible that I wouldn't go to a place called Biscuitville. Castlevania involves. Yeah. Possibly, but then again, once you gout boj Angles, why do you need anything else? Is there a better biscuit than the Lobster? Things. I never had the cheddar, bay, I've never had. Oh they're good, biscuits, don't have cheddar in them. I'm sorry, Popeye's anything except lard, thank you. I used to just get the biscuits when I would go as a kid because I was afraid to try lobster. So yeah, I don't like seafood at all. So yeah, because they have like one dish that's like, I don't know, it's a chicken thing, like, okay, give me that, and it fucking brings some more biscuits. Lobsters great, it's almost nothing, and you can dip it in butter and then just get a mouthful of butter. It's I don't I just drink butter. Could do that too. Yeah, you could eat the lobster and then still drink the butter at the end. No, that's cool. I actually cut my hand on a crab this weekend trying to eat it. See one more reason, Yeah, seafood, it's not safe. Regard to the seafood places where they give you a mallet and a bunch of crab and hey go to town like that's fun. Lobsters they often just like cut it open and it's like exploding out of the jail already. Yeah, Like, are you are you bashing living creatures with this? No? No, they're living before you throw them in the water and then they boil water. Yeah, then you smash them open after their dead. Sure they I don't know if anybody's seeing these in California. They had a thing at a bar in Minnesota, at this Brito Loco, and it was a sounds great. It was a it was a hell of a bar, but it was a claw machine, but it was for live lobsters. So there was a bunch of live lobsters and the seed bar uh, just crawling around and you do the claw machine thing, and if it grabs it, some bartender has to grab it and cook you that lobster. I think when I when I think lobster and how I want it prepared, I think some bartender is how I want that tone Minnesota, Yeah, yeah, yeah, soda. You're as far from either ocean as you could possibly get landlocked states. I think you guys have not seen that. Nope, okay, nor do I want to think about it any longer. I never won will from Clemson. It turns it into hunting. It makes it more of sporting it's yeah, I guess all right, Will and Clemson less cruel somehow. That's in South Carolina. Okay, if you didn't know, I didn't really. Yeah, it's being from a Carolina. You hear about Clemson a lot more. Yes, uh his questions for Dan. Yes. This weekend I was watching Ultimate Warrior videos and came across his final appearance on Raw. Yeah. In the first ten seconds of the clip, I saw someone holding a giant sign that read air Force Gator. Yes, Dan, were you the one that was holding the sign? If not, did you already know about this free advertising for your book? That was me? Okay, that was definitely me. Good to know. Have you also gone to shows holding a giant print out of your own head? I have done that one. I will applaud you for that one. I don't know about the other stuff, but that is that is some high concept live event trolling. There was a string of weeks there of I believe two, if not three, where people had signs that said push doctor trek suit. Yeah. So we've definitely that is great. We've made some inroads into the great I did put out a tweet that in twenty fifteen, if anybody gets an Air Force Gator sign on the air, on Raw SmackDown or a pay per view, I will send them a free copy of the book. So, any WU fans, if I can see that and you can send me proof, I will. I will do that. There you go, didn't you didn't? Didn't? Weren't you spoken to over the giant picture of your face? Security took my giant face away and then I talked him into giving him back to me at the end. Great, I still have that. Good. It's really creepy, I hope. So is it in your current apartment? It is. It's a fun thing to pull out on dates, hanging above your bed. No, it is not. It's in my closet, hiding because it's the way too crazy. Ooh. I pulled a lot of emails this week. What's up with that? All right? Brandon from Phoenix, Arizona. Subject line what's up with Jeff? Body? What's up with Jeff hanging out doing whatevers? Okay, living my life. It's good to know it's an automobiles. I don't know. Yeah, alright, please continue to ball. Okay. Uh, I'm gonna skip a couple of these. Uh. Jay Simon's iPhone sends in the following email, a slim form of the Xbox one is inevitable. What do you think the odds are that Microsoft is willing to completely abandon the TV functionality of the Xbox to save hardware space to slim down the console. How many of you actually use the system for TV? Absolutely? I would if you do not use it? No, I use Hulu, but not. I would totally run my HD antenna watch that's a dumb name. It's just an antenna. But I would totally run my antenna through the Xbox if they allowed for that. I still have a TV direct TV running through my Xbox one directly, directly, and I should unhook it because I would because I don't use any of the voice stuff to change channels. It's not reliable. Like that sort of stuff is not great. I do like the concept of what they have now, where it shows you like trending television, what people are watching now, and then you can kind of hit that and it'll change the channel and go to there and do all that stuff. But it doesn't always work and it just kind of slows it down. I don't use the one guide at all because I'm you know, I'm not watching enough television to make that meaningful. I don't use it at all. Although with how much they have ran egged on pretty much everything they said about the Xbox before it came out, I wouldn't be surprised if they dished the TV stuff totally. I just don't how much does that really save them? Though, it's like that's that's one but it's like HTM I passed through and you know, like there's how much could that really be per unit? Though? I don't know. I don't know, like what's an h by port thirty cents or something. But at some point, if you're if you're trying to get that costs as low as possible, there's got to be some chip on the board that handles that stuff for something. I guess that's a process. It's mostly all in software. Yeah, I don't, I don't really know. I mean, the system on the chip stuff they have should be handling video in, and I I would assume that they would. They would at some point remove that from a maybe version of the bigger thing is if they were trying to make a very small unit, that's you know, that's less space on the main board and on the back of the system taken up with another port. Yeah, who knows. I still hope. I wonder what the percentage of people that do use television on that thing, because you know, it's like increasingly you have to wonder, like how many people are even watching television on a via traditional television delivery map. Yeah, they must have data and those consoles and stuff like. Not to overstate the number of people that are cord cutting and all that stuff, right, you know it's happening. It seems entirely possible that by the time that console was done, okay, subscriptions could be maybe not maybe not on the way out, but like massively down. What you think about the PlayStation view and the what is it the other service the Sling TV thing that happened that Dish is doing. It's like a twenty dollars a month thing that includes ESPN, Disney Channel and some other stuff like it's you know, it's that over the internet. Yeah, woa, like that's that's happening. Yeah, that's that stuff starting to happen. You know, HBO is going to announce their service that doesn't require cable subscription, like you figure they're going to be the first ones through and they have the content to do it, and that they're going to set the standard that everyone else is going to try to follow, and plenty of other channels will discover that they do not have the shows to demand whatever price HBO is gonna end up asking. Yeah, but like that stuff's gonna happen. And like basically for me, like as soon as USA is available over the internet and I can watch wrestling wrestling live or DVRD or whatever, which is I hate. I fucking hate that. That's the thing, But that's where I'm at. That's the thing. That is the thing that I can only currently get in its unaltered form on actual television. I called up direct TV, so I I had an extra box hooked up in my house from when I had a roommate, and it was like a standard deaf box that was just in this room. No one was using it, so like, what the fuck am I doing? I'm gonna call up and cancel this thing. And in the process of me calling up and canceling it, they didn't try to fight me on it because like my reason was pretty sound. It was like, no one is in this room anymore. It doesn't I don't need this. But then they said, let me see if we get a new deals for you said, They just kind of came back and said, how would you like twenty dollars off your bill for the next year. You've been with us for a decade, I said, sounds good. So like they're throwing retention stuff at me even though I'm not canceling. So they must be skittish, you would think. But maybe that's the first sign. Maybe they have a pattern where they're like, oh, they canceled a box. Next step is and I'll tell you the next step is, I don't want to pay three hundred dollars for baseball this year because I don't watch enough of it to be for it to be worthwhile. Sure, and there are cheaper methods to get it on the internet. It's like all that stuff's happening, so at some point, like it doesn't make sense for the Xbox One to have that hardware internet anymore. It was it was kind of a it was kind of a like backward looking feature. Even when it launched. Yeah, yeah, it seemed like a thing where it's like this is a reality. Now this box can handle all the streaming services of the future. As well. We'll be covered no matter what happens. But you know, as that starts to change, you know they can, they can get away from it. Yeah it's possible. Yeah, anything could happen. I bet they will. I would put money. I would put some amount of money on the notion that eventually we see an Xbox one that does not have an HDMI inport on it for television. I can see that. Sure. All right, let's do two more. All right, Ryan and fort Wayne Indiana Wells talk about console mascots in the late eighties and distinctly during the nineties, console manufacturers used one mascot to help distinguish it and market their core own consoles and games, with Nintendo being the most active with this to this day. Sega had some success with this in the nineties by creating an edgy Yer character with Sonic and making Mario look old fashioned in the process. Sony did the same thing when they allied with Crash Bandicoot, which puts Sega into an awkward position. However, due to a variety of factors over the past decade, that seems to have decreased, with Sony and Microsoft opting for polished first party franchises to help market their consoles. Do you think that having a first party mascot to represent your console is a relevant business practice in today's market? Is it a better idea to have a cast of strong, diverse, good characters and a few distinct franchises instead. Are mascot's worth having anymore? No? Yeah, not really. I think it also makes it just kind of seem more childish with the traditional mascots. I mean, people had mascots because Mario existed in Nintendo was huge in a world where Nintendo is not Nintendo the same way they used to be, Like no one's copying them. Yeah, well with that stuff, you know, I would even say that like everything was every like a lot of media properties seem more wrapped up in kind of more focused stuff back then. You know, like Disney was kind of Mickey Mouse back then, right, whereas now Disney is also Pixar and Marvel and Star Wars. Yeah. Yeah, like everybody has diversified pretty dramatically. Yeah, that's true. That's in the last twenty thirty years. And Sony's done a good job with like that cast of characters. When they do like the what was that to Michael or whatever where they had everyone like, you know, it's Nathan Drake and Zack Boy or whatever. You know. Yeah, but I feel like, you know, to two people that are more casual game players, they don't recognize ninety percent of the things in that commercial. Yeah, yeah, that's true. You know, it's like, who's like Nathan Drake, is it just a dude? Yeah? Whereas like, yeah, Mario is a recognized icon that kids more than Mickey Mouse. Now, yeah, I mean the you know, the Q rating for Nathan Drake sure is super low. To fictional characters even have Q ratings? Do they really think so? Huh? And I want to say they do. Interesting. I don't know how. I just I became aware of the Q rating recently. It felt kind of gross. John de Lancy sits down and looks at you and goes, you're a forty Next, wait, what does John Delancy you have to do with any of that? It's the key rating? Moving on, christ Man disappointed myself. He should be Julio last email or should I say pair of emails, because one email showed up. I should have looked at the actual time. These were one right after the other. But if I had to guess I would bet this was late in the evening, subject to line and YG. What does the bomb cast think about YG? Ask Jeff. Seconds later, another email from Julio, subject line, you should answer that email, body, because I've listened to you assholes for almost six years and I'm drunk off of seagrooms and in and out drive through. Well, hopefully he wasn't driving and sending an email drunk on seam I thank you. I think he was in the drive through line, Let's hope that another person was driving. I just say, I like, hopefully he was a passenger. Let's hope that he was not the driver of the car. I like, what is what? What the fuck ISG? Do you need to know? I don't. No, I don't need to know. Do I want to know? Because I can't. I can't answer that question without knowing WHYG is a rap artist? Okay, that doesn't sound so bad? Or is there more? No? That's yeah, that's I like. I think WHYGI had a pretty good album. I feel like Julio perhaps built up this question a little more than I don't feel like there's a lot of payoff for all of this preamble. Yes, seagrams does that to you, I guess so. I just immediately when it said ask Jeff in parentheses, I was like, this must be something truly sorted. Yeah, Dan, like why Luigi whoa that the name of the album. Someone wrote to me separately, I believe, on tumbler saying that that there was indeed set to be a Evil Peach that and Miyamoto shot it down from Mario Tennis Peach set it out, Oh would she be? Well, we got it. We got an email. I almos if it was the same person proposing a name. I don't remember exactly what the construction was, but somebody proposed a name for what an evil Peach would be, like Woboo Peachie or there's some there was a name attached. That's what That's what they had proposed. Uh yeah, And in the game. In the game got some some great evil toad mock up art. Yeah, someone tweeted me. I retweeted, yeah, along with the name, would I want to say this email we got proposed Princess Beach, which seems a little on the nose. I don't know. Woade is pretty good though, I just don't know what you would like. You can't have like a crazy mustache. I mean that's what. That's what the brothers an. She's got like yellow eyes and sneering all the time. I don't know what evil people making lipsticks smeared all around her mouth like she's crazy. I don't know. It's definite mcman's evil and she's just a pretty lady. Wait, you can be that she a heel. Stephanie McMahon basically, I don't know. She she Triple H are playing the Vince McMahon role of running the company and being evil. Okay, I knew they were running the company. I didn't know they were bad guys. They are. They are on camera evil running the company like she has turned into the best talker in the company. What what are their destardly deeds? Like? What have they done there? They tried to drown Daniel Bryan last year? They're just the man. Basically, they fired all of John Cena his friends, ye that probably needed while also having John cene an appreciation day, dropping confetti on him because it was his fault that he they got fired. They made him feel real shitty about stephan Van Dance and dumped confetti and if you want to see John seen looks sad and frown. That was the week for you. Do they do the people actually boo them? Oh yeah, they're really good at their jobs, like Triple H especially is great at pissing off like the internet wrestling like smart fans. But they I mean they really are running the company or yeah right, they're I mean Vince Is everything goes through Vince, but they are taking over the company and are the day to day stuff triplates and Steff for running that pretty much from the outside. It's so confusing hearing you talk about who runs the company and who says they do and no, well, I mean it's real, like the people that say they're running the company really do run the company, like the McMahon's. But what does that like mean? And then what when they do something? I mean they do the investor phone calls and everything for stockholders, and then they also go try to drown good guy wrestlers. Wrestling is awesome. Okay, that's one word for it. Stephanie's the best BombCast a Giant bomb dot com. That's the end of emails. I watched wrestling recently. It's terrible YouTube adventure game Do not worry. That was really bad. It was pretty rough unless ww E Immortals. Is any good that's coming out this week on phones? And it looks to be a mobile fighting game. I just has Injustice style super moves. John Cena lifts people out of the atmosphere and then it makes a Humphy run them over. That sounds pretty good. Triple Ah to showcon he's got a giant and everything for really, this looks pretty awesome. Neo rom was making the game, okay, so it okay, it is so they are finishing moves. Yeah, there these are supers, I believe, okay, and they they just look like the stuff from Injustice. Triple H does a bunch of shoukn hammer moves and then it gives you a giant pedigree where he jumped to. Wow, there's no blood, is there? I don't think so? Okay, I'm really looking forward to that quick look this week. No color in WW Immortals. Okay, okay, well only the boys used that. Sorry, sorry, No one will wear the Crimson mask in WW Immortal. He throws a scorpion spear and then pulls the guy towards him and then does a wrestling spear. So it's two spears and wonder spear. What does he say as he's pulling you toward it? He probably says like some nerdrime or believe that, or I don't know something. Cox's arm like a gun. Fuck it? Good enough? Coxes arm like a gun. Good enough. I'll take It's pretty cool. Yeah, I don't know if he's back from Malaysia in time he's doing while I'm thinking out loud, is there anything in the Giant Bond by laws that says UPF has to be done from the office.
