<v Speaker 1>Uh? So I mean, this is like, this is a
<v Speaker 1>hard question. So I am like a lifelong collector of
<v Speaker 1>most things.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So my parents started me off young. My dad love toys,
<v Speaker 1>love cartoons. I started watching He Man Ninja Turtles when
<v Speaker 1>I was really young. Like there's family videos of me
<v Speaker 1>like saying like, oh, I want he Man or Ninja
<v Speaker 1>Turtles for Christmas. Is when I'm like three, and like
<v Speaker 1>that kind of transpired into like my dad always like
<v Speaker 1>had like a side hustle, and for a long time
<v Speaker 1>they were doing an eBay store where they would sell toys.
<v Speaker 1>Oh really, yeah, so they would they would go to
<v Speaker 1>you know, Target and and all these places like early
<v Speaker 1>in the morning when they're like unloading the trucks, breaking
<v Speaker 1>the boxes and like get the Star Wars toys with
<v Speaker 1>the you know, different lightsaber or like they knew all
<v Speaker 1>the stuff.
<v Speaker 2>It's what year would this like? Was this nineties?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? So this was probably late nineties, like ninety six
<v Speaker 1>to like two thousand, so this was like, you know
<v Speaker 1>before everything really started, Like the internet was still pretty fresh. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so you kind of had to look a lot of
<v Speaker 1>this stuff up in magazines and stuff. It's funny that
<v Speaker 1>my parents were so like like kind of on the there,
<v Speaker 1>you know, on the forefront, because it's toy collecting has
<v Speaker 1>been forever, but like as far as like internet selling,
<v Speaker 1>like absolutely, they were kind of like, you know, on
<v Speaker 1>the forefront of that. And it's funny because they have
<v Speaker 1>not kept up with technology at all, Like my dad
<v Speaker 1>barely knows how to use iPhone. Oh really yeah, but
<v Speaker 1>like they knew what they were looking for at the time.
<v Speaker 1>My dad would take us to comic cons like we
<v Speaker 1>I remember when we were when I was like eight,
<v Speaker 1>we were just go to Santigocoma Con. You just go
<v Speaker 1>on the day and buy a ticket like oh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't like it is now where it's you know,
<v Speaker 1>sold out months and months in advance. But uh yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So my bedroom growing up was just like carded figures,
<v Speaker 1>like carded Star Wars figures, carded Marvel figures. Card Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>like that was like my decoration in my room was
<v Speaker 1>like carded figures.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>And then as I got older, like I sold off
<v Speaker 1>my collection and then I would you know, I got
<v Speaker 1>into like magic cards, So then I started collecting magic
<v Speaker 1>cards and Pokemon cards, and then you know, I started
<v Speaker 1>getting to music when I was in middle school. So
<v Speaker 1>then I started collecting records and t shirts, and then
<v Speaker 1>in my twenties I started collecting shoes. So it's like
<v Speaker 1>it's always been, I'm always collecting something, and unfortunately I
<v Speaker 1>thought that I was done with it, because you know,
<v Speaker 1>I used to collect like like kid robot toys and like,
<v Speaker 1>uh like final toys. But that fad kind of went out,
<v Speaker 1>and I thought I was done collecting toys, and then
<v Speaker 1>I hopped into a can I cuss on this? I
<v Speaker 1>don't know? Sure, Okay, I have to do a fucking
<v Speaker 1>toy vlog with Ethan Page that I convinced you to
<v Speaker 1>buy that Luke Skywalker toy. And since then it's just
<v Speaker 1>like now it's just yeah, it's all.
<v Speaker 2>Back, Okay, Okay, Okay. So now, first of all, there
<v Speaker 2>was no playing with the toys when.
<v Speaker 4>You were little.
<v Speaker 1>You just oh, I had a lot of toys. Okay, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I had a lot of toys to play with. But like,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, I just.
<v Speaker 2>But you knew enough to maybe keep someone card.
<v Speaker 1>And I don't think I knew like that they were
<v Speaker 1>rare or not. I don't even know if they were.
<v Speaker 1>I just like I've always liked I always buy doubles. Now,
<v Speaker 1>I love how I want to pose a figure and
<v Speaker 1>I want a figure on card because I think that
<v Speaker 1>there is an art to the box, to the presentation
<v Speaker 1>to everything, like and like I feel like that is
<v Speaker 1>the purest form is supposed to be in and is
<v Speaker 1>like when it's on card. But then obviously you want
<v Speaker 1>to play with it too.
<v Speaker 2>So yes, yeah, yeah, okay, all right. So then and
<v Speaker 2>that we went to Happy eight in Milwaukee.
<v Speaker 1>I believe it was it's Super eight or Happy eight. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>yeah something mate.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and then uh oh, no problem, So we were there.
<v Speaker 2>You you convinced me to buy that Luke. I got
<v Speaker 2>a really good deal on it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>You also convinced me to buy a Han solo I
<v Speaker 2>did later on. I actually you gotta got fired for that.
<v Speaker 2>I got fired for that. I did talk about that
<v Speaker 2>in the podcast. Pretty ridiculous. But I made a whole
<v Speaker 2>display with both of those. So I have like a
<v Speaker 2>it's in a prime spot in my room. The Luke
<v Speaker 2>and the Han hung up, and I put the new
<v Speaker 2>versions of those figures open in front of them.
<v Speaker 1>You should, uh, you should get like a little devil
<v Speaker 1>figure and then like.
<v Speaker 2>You micro brawler in the Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So I'm glad that I could, uh you know, convince you.
<v Speaker 1>I hope that I get to do that in the future.
<v Speaker 1>But uh so.
<v Speaker 2>Now you have if you just started within the year,
<v Speaker 2>what are we talking, You got one shelf in the
<v Speaker 2>office or something.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, right, So my I guess my toy collecting started
<v Speaker 1>a little bit before that. What was it two years
<v Speaker 1>ago whenever the Haslab Galactus came up for pre order. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I was talking to Dan Houson about it and he's like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I bought two of them, like maybe I can resell
<v Speaker 1>one of them and pay for the other one. I
<v Speaker 1>was like, oh, that's cool. So I looked it up
<v Speaker 1>and I was like, well, this figure is awesome, and
<v Speaker 1>uh I've always had a thing for like big figures,
<v Speaker 1>and I was like, well, I have to have this.
<v Speaker 1>So I bought. I bought two of them as well.
<v Speaker 1>And that was like before I started collecting toys again,
<v Speaker 1>So that just kind of added into the collection. So
<v Speaker 1>my collection is unique in the fact that it is
<v Speaker 1>very just nostalgic for me. It's almost me like just
<v Speaker 1>collecting toys that like spark a memory from my childhood. Absolutely,
<v Speaker 1>so I have I have so much shit I haven't
<v Speaker 1>like properly displayed at all. I'm in the I'm in
<v Speaker 1>like the the midst of that right now.
<v Speaker 2>I have fun of it. That's the new playing with
<v Speaker 2>the toys I have.
<v Speaker 1>Like, Uh, I went and got a bunch of those
<v Speaker 1>like billy bookcases from Ikea. So I have like two
<v Speaker 1>big ones and like three small ones and they're kind
<v Speaker 1>of like curved in my office and uh, Galactus is
<v Speaker 1>right in the middle with all of the heralds. Uh
<v Speaker 1>what else do I have? So I've made.
<v Speaker 2>Some fantastic four would be flying around them or.
<v Speaker 1>No, no, I just got the heralds fantastic forest boring.
<v Speaker 1>It's weird, but so my my collections are mainly Spawn.
<v Speaker 1>I love McFarland toys.
<v Speaker 2>The vintage or the new ones, so both.
<v Speaker 1>I've collected all of the new spawns like that are
<v Speaker 1>in Target right now because they are incredible looking. I
<v Speaker 1>think that McFarland maybe over time, has had the best
<v Speaker 1>figures of all.
<v Speaker 2>Time away when I was a kid. Yeah, it's like,
<v Speaker 2>doesn't even it wasn't even a toy.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah exactly. I mean it might might have said
<v Speaker 1>not a toy on the package. Yeah, yeah, but you know,
<v Speaker 1>the spawn toys, the original ones I've gotten like the
<v Speaker 1>first wave, and then like now I'm just collecting everything else,
<v Speaker 1>which there's just so many. But they're cheap. They're super cheap,
<v Speaker 1>Like I don't think there's a spawn toy that's over.
<v Speaker 2>Twenty dollars, even the old ones, the old ones.
<v Speaker 1>Especially, Wow. So like you can get any almost any
<v Speaker 1>carded spawn toy for ten bucks, like in decent condition.
<v Speaker 2>Wow.
<v Speaker 1>You know they have like I think over the pandemic
<v Speaker 1>they came out with like they did like a kickstarter
<v Speaker 1>for these like crazy looking spawn toys. Oh yeah, those
<v Speaker 1>were pretty pricey. Those were a couple hundred bucks. But
<v Speaker 1>I mean as far as like collecting, like you're not
<v Speaker 1>gonna break the bank collecting spon toys. They just look awesome.
<v Speaker 1>So I went to home depot. I got a bunch
<v Speaker 1>of like plastic tracking and if you if you double
<v Speaker 1>face tape the tracking on the wall, you can slide
<v Speaker 1>the card in and it holds. So it's like it's
<v Speaker 1>kind of like a little cheap hack. I mean I
<v Speaker 1>think it was. The tracking was it was really cheap,
<v Speaker 1>so like fifty bucks for like an entire wall, and
<v Speaker 1>then you slide the card and then it sucks because
<v Speaker 1>some of the figures are heavy so it'll pull off.
<v Speaker 1>But they're ten bucks. You just put a little bit
<v Speaker 1>of tape on the back and stick it to the wall.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, I like that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so I did that all around the TV in
<v Speaker 1>my office. So now my wife calls it the spon Tron.
<v Speaker 1>But there's like fifty carded spawn toys around that. It
<v Speaker 1>started with one, and you can see that one that
<v Speaker 1>I bought. It's on Ethan pages to vlogged from Happy eight.
<v Speaker 1>I bought a widow toy and then they just kind
<v Speaker 1>of blew up from there, and especially when you find
<v Speaker 1>out how cheap they are. You go to a story
<v Speaker 1>you're like, oh, these are all ten bucks, Like yeah,
<v Speaker 1>by thirty of them.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, Ethan's talked before about enjoying the you know,
<v Speaker 2>you start a collection and you sort of say, I'm
<v Speaker 2>only going to buy this in a store because I
<v Speaker 2>enjoy the looking for it. Because you could just literally
<v Speaker 2>you could be sitting in gatering and buy every sponn
<v Speaker 2>toy you need eBay. So what do you do both?
<v Speaker 1>Or so I do both? I like to for certain things,
<v Speaker 1>so for like the Spawn toys, I'm almost using it
<v Speaker 1>as like a wallpaper. So I'm just kind of like
<v Speaker 1>I've bought a couple of lots on eBay, but I
<v Speaker 1>do like finding like the rare ones. You know, they
<v Speaker 1>have like different color variants and they have different special
<v Speaker 1>edition ones. I like finding those in the wild. But
<v Speaker 1>so it kind of started with Spawn. I've always liked Marvel.
<v Speaker 1>That's like always been my thing.
<v Speaker 2>Are you doing the vintage or the if you got
<v Speaker 2>into the legends.
<v Speaker 1>I got a couple of Legends. I'm trying not to
<v Speaker 1>get like too deep into that. I'm trying to like
<v Speaker 1>limit it. So I like Daredevil, Punisher and Ghostwriter, and
<v Speaker 1>I'm trying to I'm kind of bummed that has that
<v Speaker 1>Ghostwriter didn't fund.
<v Speaker 2>But did you get that new retro karting ghost ghost Writer?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, awesome. It's sick. So I try to like limit
<v Speaker 1>some of my collections. Like the higher end stuff that
<v Speaker 1>I collect is like Storm collectibles. I tried to stick
<v Speaker 1>with characters that were also wrestlers, So I have like
<v Speaker 1>I have the Suzuki, I have the Likeer, but I
<v Speaker 1>also have like Zenggi from Street Fighter. There's a couple
<v Speaker 1>other street Fighters guys that are also wrestlers I can't
<v Speaker 1>remember off time. Yeah, yeah, he's a he's a sumo wrestler.
<v Speaker 1>But then there's like a David I can't think of
<v Speaker 1>the name right now.
<v Speaker 2>I only played Street Fighter two anyways.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but then like the Mortal Kombat figures are amazing,
<v Speaker 1>like the Kintaro and then the one that I'm looking
<v Speaker 1>for currently, which is my current grail, I guess is
<v Speaker 1>to become a Goro bro with Ethan Oh yeah, Dane.
<v Speaker 1>But it's like I refuse to buy it online, like
<v Speaker 1>I have to find that in.
<v Speaker 2>The wild, especially on a blog, would be great.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, exactly. So a couple Storm collectibles, some Super seven stuff,
<v Speaker 1>like obviously this stuff is way priceier, so yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>try to limit myself a little bit with that. Uh,
<v Speaker 1>Turtles is like I would say, becoming my main thing.
<v Speaker 2>So which ones the seven?
<v Speaker 1>So I have a bunch of Super seven Turtles. I
<v Speaker 1>have like Bebop Rock, Sady, Shredder, Sewer, Samurai Leo. I
<v Speaker 1>just actually got all of the loose playmate figures of
<v Speaker 1>those like complete, so I can like put them with
<v Speaker 1>the Super seven Ultimates, which is pretty cool. But I
<v Speaker 1>like the quarter scale Necca figures as well. Oh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>Mecca Mecca I think overall maybe makes the best toy
<v Speaker 1>lines currently too. Their licensings are like right up my alley,
<v Speaker 1>Like they have Terminator, Predator Aliens and then Ninja Turtles.
<v Speaker 1>That's all the things I like. But as far as
<v Speaker 1>like having like the tune series stuff and then they
<v Speaker 1>have the the movie stuff, it's amazing. And like everyone
<v Speaker 1>at Mecca is like huge wrestling fans as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, did you meet oh man, what's his name? We
<v Speaker 2>met him at Comic Con a bunch of times. Randy.
<v Speaker 1>I haven't met Randy. Oh maybe I did me Randy.
<v Speaker 2>He's a man.
<v Speaker 1>I think I met him at New York Comic Con.
<v Speaker 1>He loves Yeah, And but my friend Blaine works there,
<v Speaker 1>and my friend Blaine has introduced me to everybody else
<v Speaker 1>and they were all going to you know, they went
<v Speaker 1>to Full Gear when we were there. Oh yeah, So
<v Speaker 1>it was like it was cool to like have that
<v Speaker 1>path client. It's like, oh, hey, I like toys, you
<v Speaker 1>guys like wrestling. Let's talk. So you know, I have
<v Speaker 1>a ton of neck of stuff. I actually just found
<v Speaker 1>my grail last night, which was like my ultimate grail
<v Speaker 1>and it's it's an interesting one because I couldn't even
<v Speaker 1>find it online, Like I couldn't find it anywhere. And
<v Speaker 1>it's the quarter scale Raphael and Disguise.
<v Speaker 2>Oh so I didn't even know they had that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and I got it for like a really good price.
<v Speaker 1>So I got a toy Vomit.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I also got a Grail at toy Vomit.
<v Speaker 1>Very he sold to me for like four hundred bucks
<v Speaker 1>and like the cheapest I've seen it is like six
<v Speaker 1>hundred on eBay and that's like a sold one. So
<v Speaker 1>it's like, you can't even find this damn figure. And
<v Speaker 1>then he sold it to me for a great price,
<v Speaker 1>so I can't complain at all. And it's an awesome
<v Speaker 1>looking figure. All of the quarter scale stuff, Like I
<v Speaker 1>have Raff and Disguise, h Shredder, and then I have
<v Speaker 1>a foot Soldier. Eventually I'm gonna have all of them.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, I really think that those are really well made.
<v Speaker 1>They look awesome, Like Shredder's cape is incredible, like his
<v Speaker 1>like his outfit is like Sparkles. It's their detail is amazing.
<v Speaker 1>And have you been to Mecca like that?
<v Speaker 2>Actually, so we keep talking about doing a lot.
<v Speaker 1>I'm sure the next time we're in that area, I
<v Speaker 1>can hit them up and probably get a tour again.
<v Speaker 1>But it is like everything you know, I've been to
<v Speaker 1>a couple uh, either toy or like I went to
<v Speaker 1>has or I went to Wizards in Seattle and like
<v Speaker 1>tour the Magic the Gathering facility and like they're like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>you know, it's not as exciting as you think, like
<v Speaker 1>and like there's a lot of artwork and there's some
<v Speaker 1>there's cool stuff to see, but like the I mean,
<v Speaker 1>it's just kind of an office. The same with Jazzuars.
<v Speaker 1>Like Jazzuars has some cool stuff, but it's it's an office.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>Neca is like everything you wanted to be. Like every
<v Speaker 1>desk that they like are sculpting or painting just has
<v Speaker 1>like hundreds of toys that they've also sculpted and painted
<v Speaker 1>around them. They have an entire wall of like predator
<v Speaker 1>figures that they've produced. There's there's so many, there's macats
<v Speaker 1>of like every sculpture that they've done. Like it's it's
<v Speaker 1>all the that you want out of like a you know,
<v Speaker 1>a toy fan, and like you're like this is awesome,
<v Speaker 1>that's great. Yeah, So it's like, uh, you know, kind
<v Speaker 1>of like Willie Walker's chocolate factory for toys. I can't.
<v Speaker 2>I'm pretty blown away that you've just listed all that
<v Speaker 2>and it just kind of started this year. But it
<v Speaker 2>is so fun.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. So between the neck of stuff, Ninja turtles spawned
<v Speaker 1>that those are like my kind of like my main things,
<v Speaker 1>I guess, and then like I like some of the
<v Speaker 1>Storm stuff, and then obviously some some of the Marvel stuff,
<v Speaker 1>Like I just got, like the new Mojo that came out.
<v Speaker 1>If it's a cool looking toy, I usually pick it up.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, I know that Mojo is awesome. That's set or
<v Speaker 2>did just the single?
<v Speaker 1>Uh? Just the single?
<v Speaker 2>Okay?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. But the thing I don't like about the new
<v Speaker 1>Legend stuff. And I understand it's like for the environment
<v Speaker 1>and stuff, but I don't like that the package.
<v Speaker 2>You hate it.
<v Speaker 1>It's like like I said, you know, I like to
<v Speaker 1>see a figure and it's yeah proper when.
<v Speaker 2>You're hanging a box, it sucks. It sucks. Yeah with
<v Speaker 2>the box with the picture of it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I want to see the thing posed. I want
<v Speaker 1>to see all the accessories, like.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, there's got there's got to be a way that
<v Speaker 2>you can use less plaux this plastic or or even
<v Speaker 2>the slip off so that you can have a box
<v Speaker 2>with nothing, no plastic underneath. There's there's got to be
<v Speaker 2>a way. But the way the ones that they have
<v Speaker 2>now that you it's just like a box that you
<v Speaker 2>open and the figures wrapped in a piece of paper.
<v Speaker 2>That's terrible. Yeah, But there are versions where you can
<v Speaker 2>like kind of slip out the cover and it's a
<v Speaker 2>bare figure there, and it's a little scary because some
<v Speaker 2>kids touching it or something and somebody's spitting on it.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know who knows, But there's got to be
<v Speaker 2>a happy medium somewhere.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. And you know the thing about the neck of
<v Speaker 1>stuff that I don't like is the window box boxes open.
<v Speaker 2>You just talking about that.
<v Speaker 1>So the packaging is amazing, it looks awesome, but displaying
<v Speaker 1>it sucks because like when you open it through the window,
<v Speaker 1>like you're like, yeah, I would want to display like this,
<v Speaker 1>but you can't. So I don't know if there if
<v Speaker 1>anybody has an alternative to this, please let me know,
<v Speaker 1>because I love the neck of box, I love the artwork.
<v Speaker 1>I love the way that the figure looks on card,
<v Speaker 1>but you just it's just fucking closed.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think in with if you only have a few.
<v Speaker 2>For example, I have a shelf with the Super Shredder
<v Speaker 2>ye in the box opened. It's signed by Kevin ash
<v Speaker 2>that's sick, and then keeping the box open is a
<v Speaker 2>loose version of it. So it's kind of like a
<v Speaker 2>super Shredder things.
<v Speaker 1>That's not bad, it's one.
<v Speaker 2>But if you were going to display a bunch, you're
<v Speaker 2>you're losing space with the open box.
<v Speaker 1>With the money buy and all the devils.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, last thing before we get to the fan questions,
<v Speaker 2>what no wrestling?
<v Speaker 1>No, I don't like wrestling toys. Well, I have a
<v Speaker 1>bunch of aw toys because I like to collect my friends.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, I just think wrestling toys are boring, so
<v Speaker 1>my figure will not be boring.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so you have do you have uh Malachi? Do
<v Speaker 2>you have the Supreme?
<v Speaker 1>I do have the Supreme? Dude.
<v Speaker 2>That's like that goes right with your spawn figures straight up.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. And you know that's kind of what the House
<v Speaker 1>of Black does. It's like we always have in mind,
<v Speaker 1>like what's the toy going to look like? What are
<v Speaker 1>the pictures going to look like? Like we have all
<v Speaker 1>that in mind when we're designing our gear, designing our
<v Speaker 1>pay per view stuff, like we want them to be like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>this has to be a figure every time. We want
<v Speaker 1>them to be overwhelmed with like what do we choose?
<v Speaker 1>You know, because you know, I was talking to one
<v Speaker 1>of the Jazz Wars guys and he said, it's frustrating
<v Speaker 1>when uh, you know, a wrestler be like, hey, we're
<v Speaker 1>like when am I getting another figure? And they're be
<v Speaker 1>like you haven't changed your fucking gear and a year
<v Speaker 1>and a half, Like why would we make another figure
