Episode 75 - Blood Angels pt2 - After the Death of Sanguinius

[SPEAKER_01]: So any of the horse heresy, boy angels are in rough ship, primarx dead, which the couple hundred years won't make them very special amongst the loyest legions.
[SPEAKER_02]: But now it's a big deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right now they're one of only two two with a with a with a serious manicent.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fast forward a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's up everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, there are also devastated numbers.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is where, and if you want to go look at the tons of Reddit threads about this budget, WMF, set the onset of the Horace Heresy, there were a hundred and twenty thousand blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're now approximately five hundred to a thousand left.
[SPEAKER_01]: I spent a lot of time trying to track this down.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is the numbers just don't make sense to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: They write that at the end of the siege of terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: There were five hundred surviving members that went back with sanguine yesterday.
[SPEAKER_02]: They took his body down to ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm assuming there wasn't like ten thousand blood angels just hanging out somewhere in the galaxy when the Emperor's life was in danger.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: They would have gone in mass.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it kind of feels like that's it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, remember, they're taking their very sad, they're taking their primer back, but they also have to have that awkward driving moment where someone has to go, hey man, remember the time where all of us blacked out in rage and murdered everyone around us?
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, should we talk about that?
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think that's something we should probably talk about.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's gonna come up a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: This part's a little bit weird.
[SPEAKER_01]: So in blood angels lore, there's kind of a gap in time.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is why when I bring up this not a lot of them left, it feels like they go back to ball to just basically rebuild the Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's something a bunch of the Legion's did do.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just spent some time post-heracy.
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was raven guard a hundred percent.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because what you had is the Ultramarines and the Dark Angels arrive.
[SPEAKER_01]: with full force and they're the ones who mostly lead the charge of just let's go wreck all the traders because they're at full force.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the rest of the guys are kind of like me and my eleven surviving buddies were going to do the same thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be with you sometime in the future.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the planning does kind of go back to ball and to replenish their numbers.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a little bit odd.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't do much her period of time.
[SPEAKER_01]: But back on ball, that they focus in on, all right, let's build rebelegents.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what, that's actually a good place.
[SPEAKER_01]: We should probably, at some point, we need to talk about how you become a blood angel.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is probably a good place to do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as of before, ball is made up of a planet, which is ball, then ball one and ball two, ball secunders and ball prime.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love you.
[SPEAKER_02]: Keep calling it ball one and two.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, ball one ball three.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's facts.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their moods are also gigantic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, these moons are the site.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is kind of like how, you know, ball, it ball them planets that the size of Jupiter, but the moons, okay, they have Jupiter size.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know, I just want to point out because there are people we do have physicists in our discord who want to send this.
[SPEAKER_01]: If ball two is as big as they make it, its gravitational pull would just slam it in the ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, yeah, there's a moon orbiting the planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: The planet's pretty big, but the moon's almost the same size as the planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that ends one way, guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, this is, this is high school physics.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
[SPEAKER_01]: When I'm getting into anything, anything that that involved is high school physics.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's someone to tell you exactly what would happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there will be someone who point out this actually.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is, this is how long that orbit could have lasted, like, eleven days.
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, as I said before, you have ball one ball two.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ball two is the the more populous of the two.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hold on, get my treat together guys because.

[SPEAKER_02]: Do multiple marine chapters let their planets just be a trash fire when they can easily terraform these.
[SPEAKER_02]: We consistently make planets whatever the hell we want them to be in the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_02]: They just leave these places like, hey man, maybe it's just trashy.
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, you could just fix this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, ingenious and his tribe murdered most all of the mutants on Balcicundas.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're like, oh yeah, we also could put in greenery and get rid of all the radiation they went.
[SPEAKER_01]: People, people there are fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's actually super messed up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because not only do they go mad, then they went down to ball the main planet and they built a fortress there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it is in the codex as those fortresses have like greenhouses.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they, they bailed on it and went to the planet didn't invite any of the people there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they've got like all the food they could possibly need in the future.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's tons of people that never leave that mood.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can only imagine they go down to do some work on ball private go what the shit you guys kind of just done this on on the moon yeah totally why yeah why didn't you I didn't get to it yet I really cool them in suck at your back yeah exactly stuff to do
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so to become a blood angel, they have a special process.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like everyone does.
[SPEAKER_01]: And their process is actually really cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have something called the Duplist Lunaris, which is when the two moons align and the straight line, the whole way through with the planet, which I was just discussing, I'm pretty sure at that moment, they would both slam into the planet and crush it.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Surprise surprise, when this happens, the blood angels have a giant fight that has to occur in order to get there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So on ball prime, aka ball one, they just have a bog standard ritual combat that at the end of it only a few of the aspirants can make it forward.
[SPEAKER_01]: But on ball two, ball secundus, it's a much bigger event.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to point out this is that so on ball one,
[SPEAKER_01]: a bunch of people get together and they fight and the victor gets to be there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now let me talk about why it sucks to live on ball two.
[SPEAKER_01]: On false secundance, you have to reach angels fall.
[SPEAKER_01]: The event occurs in angels fall, which is the spot where singed when he was found.
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, why is this place so jack still?
[SPEAKER_02]: People killing people on this planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, Condis is all no mad tribes still trying to make a living.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just finding random stuff to survive off of.
[SPEAKER_01]: Angels fall is in the middle of a massively hostile desert.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so when it's time, the blood angels fly their thunderhawks all over Bolsa, Condis to announce it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I am a hundred percent, by the way, when GW wrote this in their brain, it was like the funhawks flying over like playing trumpets or something like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: But in my mind, I'm thinking running man or idiocracy.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a full video and like, you know, you've got like fireworks going off.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how it should be.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, let it begin.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or actually, I truthfully, it's probably would be.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's the Jennifer Lawrence movie?
[SPEAKER_01]: Hungry games?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's probably more like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen one of those.

[SPEAKER_02]: chances of a wolf is needed nine foot tall blue aliens.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just it's objectively or so.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, because it makes less sense too.

[SPEAKER_01]: So the aspirants on ball two have to run through this massively inhospitable land to reach the trials.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the one thing I do that was horribly disappointed in the first time I've read this was they have something that lives on bald secundas called a fire scorpion.
[SPEAKER_01]: I got super excited that it was a scorp that was shoot fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope, it's just a big red scorpion and it when it stings you it turns your blood to acid.
[SPEAKER_02]: I was just going to say, how do you not think that's cool?
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, hey, can I survive this?
[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, which one's cooler?
[SPEAKER_01]: A giant?
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a twelve foot scorpion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fine.
[SPEAKER_02]: Shooting fires always cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my point.
[SPEAKER_01]: If it gets you with its pincer tail, which I'm assuming is about two feet wide.
[SPEAKER_01]: After eight runs, probably through you and kills you, it turns your, you're already dead as giant pincers.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fighting eight eleven foot scorpion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Shake it that off.
[SPEAKER_01]: Other option, eleven foot scorpion that shoots fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: way cooler, just objectively way cooler.
[SPEAKER_01]: But fine, once they re-changes fall, they then do the same ritual of combat that they're doing on on ball one after running through all that crap and about fifty or so of them will be brought over to ball.
[SPEAKER_02]: It is kind of funny because it does seem like the TV show now because they pick up all the people don't die.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they just get scooped up by serving or isn't everybody else.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's yeah, that's the weird thing and it's not combat to the death.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas a lot of other legions actually fight the death.
[SPEAKER_01]: These guys seem to fight with sticks until like I think they make like wildly more sense though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, don't kill your future members because what if you're number what if you don't realize that your number twenty two seeds actually really good and he beats a number one seed now you lost number one like come on, you know,
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the ones who win are selected and load on Thunderhawks to bring back to the fortress back on ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: The ones who don't win but survive actually either become surfs for the space marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them stay in guard, angels fall and a bunch of go back to their tribes because, you know, why not?
[SPEAKER_02]: They get to do it again though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but until they age out.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing, but whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: So whatever it is, they all go back to what's called the arcs and jellicum, the plant of ball, which is where it's where it's inguinius was buried and it's the headquarters of the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once they're there, cool thing about this is they actually will see a bloody angel for the first time with their helmet off.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a common thing in all the recruiting worlds, same with the Space Wolves.
[SPEAKER_01]: They never, well, actually, the Space Wolves might seem with the helmets on, but they think most of the worlds they never see a Space Spring.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just see them only in their armor.
[SPEAKER_01]: As I said, I'm like, I had a space will just love not wearing their helmets, which is why they have poisoned all the damn time.
[SPEAKER_02]: Look, don't mess with my space wolves.
[SPEAKER_02]: How is anybody gonna see my sweet tats and cool braids?
[SPEAKER_01]: If I were a helmet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're just, you know, not died upon me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the aspirants, what's interesting about this is that it's a cool feature of the genes that we never talk about.
[SPEAKER_01]: and they talk about the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: All the aspirants are pretty beat up physically.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've been living on a radiated wasteland.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got a lot, they call this out in the codex, it's that they've got like tumorous growths, they're missing like teeth, they're missing hair, they're missing fingers, they're pretty beat up.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the space, the space marine blood angels are perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, which means that, and this makes that sanguinious had some pretty powerful healing powers.
[SPEAKER_01]: It means that once the gene seeds go into them, their bodies actually perfect.
[SPEAKER_02]: I do love the fact that Marines can die from poison, but they'll make you hot.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you'll be super good looking.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it basically is like, it's also, it's completely a Disney movie, by the way, which is, oh, we'll put these into you and you'll turn to Shrek and I think it was Shrek II or the Shrek III, when you turn to do it, the regular person.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also explains why, I mean, I think GW put this in there because someone called out and was like, hey, why does every space marine look the same with its helmet off and all the models?
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, to side effect of the gene seed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's an answer.
[SPEAKER_01]: You look awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: So, everybody's giving blue steel.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the next piece of this is just messed up.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, everyone has their own little way of doing the GNC process.
[SPEAKER_01]: The bladigal situation is called sanguineation.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the sanguineation, the first thing the bladigal aspirant does is they have to drink from a cup that's got the first step of the GNC process.
[SPEAKER_01]: As soon as they drink from the cup, it should put them into a coma for a year.
[SPEAKER_01]: They go into a coma immediately.
[SPEAKER_01]: The year bit is interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: They then, and this is early, early, play, and you'll stop.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is bananas, dude.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is just dumb.
[SPEAKER_02]: They jam them into a sarcophagi.
[SPEAKER_02]: And effectively go, can we jam the most tubes into one
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but it makes sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's just say what it is and then I'm gonna complain.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they shove them in a sarcophagus with a bunch of tubes into them.
[SPEAKER_01]: The feed them like oxygen and nutrients while they're doing it.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that as we covered in the cast, the process of the gene seed is not these organs don't grow.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to put them in.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I assume there's randomly opening this sarcophagus, cutting people open, shoving an organ in and then closing it back.

[SPEAKER_01]: But those who don't die are filled with dreams of sanguiness.
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually see him.
[SPEAKER_01]: They see his actions.
[SPEAKER_01]: They learn to love him.
[SPEAKER_01]: They take honor for like, they'll have honor for his history.
[SPEAKER_01]: However, there's a downside to that.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to get to it later.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's one more thing that they get to him.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to it later.
[SPEAKER_02]: They also get a lot of, they're, they get the fuel for honor.
[SPEAKER_02]: They, they have very few corrupted blood idols.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I actually did see someone there's a debate, someone's having on Reddit where they were discussing are the blood angels, the least corruptible chapter.
[SPEAKER_01]: And in lore, yeah, they actually had definitely not the Dark Angels in lore.
[SPEAKER_02]: The saying, when this looks over them, basically, they have the guidance of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's dive into it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now we kind of explained it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So post heresy.
[SPEAKER_01]: The blangels are back on ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're building up their chat there.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's going pretty well.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then they get a note in the mail from Gilliman.
[SPEAKER_01]: telling him, hey, I've got a plan and the plan is we break up all the legions into smaller legions so that nothing bad can ever happen again.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the blinding deals are one of the actually makes at this better than the ultramarines do if I'm being completely honest.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's also pretty easy to do.
[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't even have
[SPEAKER_02]: didn't have any of these.
[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have a legion, but it's pretty easy to break up the legion.
[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Ted, should you and I go or separate ways?
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and that's actually what's so cool about this because I actually, I look at this a couple of different ways.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think first off, I think that the blinding was agreed that the codecs are star days first off because they're such a loyal legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Second off of all of the legions, they took the most brunt of the heresy, so I think they also have the deepest understanding of any legion as to why we should do something like this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then the last one was also tactically.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's about this five hundred guys who survived.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
[SPEAKER_01]: These are some of the best fighters in the entire blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: It actually makes more sense to separate them out because all the more incredible leaders.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you take these like, let's say you take thirty of the people who stood with Sanguineus on a Saturday gate.
[SPEAKER_01]: and have them all share religion.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, break them up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Those guys can pass on incredible amount of knowledge.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, they get a figure.
[SPEAKER_02]: These are the best of the best that survived by just the pure.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I didn't die.
[SPEAKER_01]: One interesting thing though about the split up is the while they follow the Codex authorities very, very well.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a couple later.
[SPEAKER_01]: The blood angels didn't follow the counsel of Nikkei that strongly.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are very pro librarian, which makes sense given that their primarque was one of the most powerful psychors in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_02]: And also, nonchalantly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just was, didn't matter.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one cared they could fly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but outside of that, I mean, they, they adhere to everything else, especially chaplain.
[SPEAKER_02]: I went to throw this in with some of the blood angels, librarians, though.
[SPEAKER_02]: I do think this is exciting because the blood angels, librarians, aren't just a support of theirs.
[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of their librarian, that's a great way.
[SPEAKER_02]: Libraries, powers are direct hand-to-hand, boom, that's a, that's a really easy thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: They get fast, they get stronger.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we've never covered that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Most of the librarians, most of the cycles throughout all of the legions are,
[SPEAKER_01]: There's support.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's that they're there to make the rest of the soldiers fight better.
[SPEAKER_01]: The blood angels librarians were some of the best fighters in the Legion as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: You did not want to be in hand-in-hand combat in the blood angels librarians.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll call off my fist on.
[SPEAKER_01]: It does not go well.
[SPEAKER_01]: Although, I will say I'd rather fight the blood angels librarian than a blood angel chaplain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you know his chaplains and bladios go to peanut butter and jelly, which for those of you not in America?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I mean, you can go butter and toast, but unless your peanut butter is amazing, unless you're allergic to peanuts, in much case, it's probably less amazing.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's not what tastes good before you add your appetite.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it is, ooh, two things.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, for those of you who aren't in America, sorry, peanut butter is awesome.

[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about the red theorists in the blood rage though, before we get too far into the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_02]: This has also changed a lot in the lore over the years.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because this was the overwriting thing for a very long time.
[SPEAKER_02]: You had early on in the game.
[SPEAKER_02]: You automatically lost XMA.
[SPEAKER_02]: You would roll.
[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_02]: At the beginning of the game, you would roll for how many people became death company.
[SPEAKER_02]: People consumed with
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I liked the idea, but it made it, it made the kind of suck.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I'm just saying, but it was, it was there.
[SPEAKER_02]: They were GW pushed that part of blood angels for a long time in the lore.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that was, what, good, fifteen plus years of there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, where you, you, you basically you put your blood angels on the board and were like, all right, let's see, how many of them actually can do something about it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I'm saying that the lore of the blood angels, what that was, that was the main thing.
[SPEAKER_02]: And we really got
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about this, but this isn't the overriding.
[SPEAKER_02]: What does the blood angels are doing?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so let's go into that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So after St.
[SPEAKER_01]: Gwyneth's death, the blood angels all are back on ball, and they noticed this massive change in the Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: The big one is the first one is the red thirst.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's always been there, but with St.
[SPEAKER_01]: Gwyneth's around, it had been muted down pretty well.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is pretty normal.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of the the the legions who had a more powerful, the more powerful their flaw, when their primarck was around, it would go down.
[SPEAKER_01]: The magnets isn't went down, lean, and it would go down.
[SPEAKER_01]: They would, they would drive these flaws down.
[SPEAKER_01]: When the primary got further away from just in physical distance, they would come back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their primarks are dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it really kicks up pretty hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: What makes this worse though is between the red thirst and the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: at the end of the heresy and sanguinius's dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's the blood angels have been rushing around the galaxy, fighting and fighting and fighting.
[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about during the space marina episode, but one of the jobs of the apothecaries to go to the dead space marines and pull the gene seeds out of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have time to do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Legion is actually at this stage facing extinction because they don't have enough gene seed to actually even take aspirants and grow them up.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they decide to do something.
[SPEAKER_01]: And what they do is while they're bringing their dead prime mark back, they basically loot his body for gene seed.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the best way to say.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like not not cool guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of dick move of like, well, I guess we got to do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: What happens though with that and they didn't realize at the time is this meant that all the new gene see they pulled from sanguanius carried his last genetic memory, which is his death.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, his death at the hands of his best friend.
[SPEAKER_01]: So everyone before this, the genetic memory didn't exist because he was taken from him while he was an infant inside a gestation tube.
[SPEAKER_01]: And now all the new ones are filled with his last memory of being stabbed through by his best friend.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and all the other things like that, that occurred to them.
[SPEAKER_01]: This takes the flaw in the seed and cranks it up to an eleven.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll start off with the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: So in the past, the black rage would only appear when you were in the height of combat and traditionally, it's bad happiness and goodness.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now you had aspirants coming out of the sarcophagus with full black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: You've got, it's just popping up constantly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the most common place it pops up is when stress comes into place.
[SPEAKER_02]: So when a space marine or the bigger and stronger, the bigger and more dangerous the battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so what ends up happening is they're able to control it to a point.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the control they're able to have around it is if they can keep themselves calm.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, they stole this from the Hulk.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: If they can give us a calm, they're fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: But when they're anxiety, it's a ritual though.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what they do is it's also, I'm just saying, it's the Hulk.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, what happens is on the eve of a battle, they're all been taught to look for the signs of the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when the eve of a battle, if
[SPEAKER_01]: They feel that the black rage coming on.
[SPEAKER_01]: They will go over to their chaplain, they will tell their chaplain what's going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: and they're then escorted out of the room and they're taken to a different area.
[SPEAKER_01]: In that area, they are then, their armor is changed out to being an all black armor and there's a last ceremonies happened for them because they're now going to be part of the death company.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I love this though because the chaplains are taught and instructed what to look for, how to care for these people, and also how to direct them.
[SPEAKER_02]: And they go through this, and it's a very somber ceremony, but it's also looked upon as a great honor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Take, yes, you want.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is how you are going to die with the most powerful version, which is the black rage, but killing our enemies.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it doesn't take them over immediately.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost that they just, they know.
[SPEAKER_01]: tomorrow, or whenever the battle is, when the battle occurs, I am going to be overcome with rage, and I'm going to be an unstoppable killing machine.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they take them all, they won't just be one person, they will then collect them all, and they send them off the battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the chapter will actually, correctly, stand back a little bit while these guys do their fighting, probably the better call, but they watch with honor as their battle brother.
[SPEAKER_01]: slotters on ungodly amount of enemies, and then eventually it succumbs to their wounds.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, also, if you don't succumb to your wounds, yes, fun side note, if you don't succumb to your wounds, the chaplains of the blind goes, do come kill you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Specifically, that's their off the ground, which we'll cover later.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fun side note, the black rage also doesn't happen, can affect dreadnuts.
[SPEAKER_01]: Love these guys death company dreadnots are so goddamn annoying with table top, but they're awesome
[SPEAKER_02]: It's somebody affected by the black rage entombed in a dread not.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is, they do not put these guys down.
[SPEAKER_02]: And first, they just unleash them with his time is right.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's drop them out.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like they defrost them and just drop into a battlefield.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you have a dread not in a full rage going, oh, question for you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've only ever seen them in traditional dread not.
[SPEAKER_01]: Are there redemptive versions?
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or at least not yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there will be.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just occurred me like, hey, wait a minute.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's all in the old body.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know with the giant claw and I know what they look like, but it could make, wait, it's not a redemptive version.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because with blood talents.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because the black rage does affect your spoiler online and get the black rage effects primaries.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the red thirst.
[SPEAKER_01]: They both do affect primaries.
[SPEAKER_01]: They thought it wouldn't, but it did.
[SPEAKER_01]: Need to say, on the table top, if you're playing against someone and they have death company, shoot them, shoot them, shoot them, shoot them, shoot them, shoot them, shoot them, shoot them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Especially with artillery.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty huge.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just awesome.
[SPEAKER_02]: However, it's great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Indirect fire and airplanes.
[SPEAKER_01]: People want us to play a game together and that's what I would probably bring.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would bring airplanes and Indirect fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like you for two hours.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd lose the game to you, but I would annoy you with indirect fire and airplanes.

[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the black rage is only one part of their flaw.
[SPEAKER_01]: The other one is the red thirst.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the red thirst is a little bit annoying.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's been red kind of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's completely, it's current form.
[SPEAKER_01]: The red thirst is like a mini version of the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: While a blood angel is fighting and going, because whereas the black rage, you get a warning that the red thirst just happens suddenly and they will lose control.
[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times what happens is they'll like abandon like a key position and they'll just run towards the enemy for a melee charge.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how it is today.
[SPEAKER_01]: The red thirst used to be vampires.
[SPEAKER_01]: They would actually, and they would have, all these stories, they'd go to the early code axis.
[SPEAKER_01]: The bloodins would carry around vials of blood that they would consume to kind of help, to help quench their thirst.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if they didn't consume those vials of blood over time, they would actually be in the age.
[SPEAKER_01]: And would get gray head.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, surf's that they just drink from.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they bring surf's around with them and they would drink blood from their surf's.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I remembered this, but that I pulled up the eighth and ninth edition code X's.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not in there at all.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I found in the seventh edition code X. And I wanted to bring this up here because people didn't plan the game for a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to get called out for this.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the seventh edition codex, it states that on some distant worlds where blood angels have been stationed, some members of the local populists had gone missing, only to be found days later, drained of blood.
[SPEAKER_01]: Quote, it's possible this was the work of cultists seeking to discredit the chapter.
[SPEAKER_01]: But at the same time,
[SPEAKER_01]: They still make references to people who are overtaken by the Red Thirst.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the rumors there is that when they're overtaken by the Red Thirst, they're imprisoned on the Tower of Amaro on Ball, and they can be heard screaming their desire for human blood.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what that would actually sound like, I don't know why the Space Marines can't build a soundproof prison.
[SPEAKER_01]: I also don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of like, I don't know is here if I'm being, I can't.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, I think GW realized that like the vampire thing is kind of lame and they just had to kind of figure out a way to get rid of it, because it didn't really make a lot of sense.
[SPEAKER_02]: The Space Marines are awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't make any sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see what they do with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But back to the split, the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: Before we kind of get too much further into them, one of the things I love about blood angels is they've got some pretty cool successor chapters.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they have a shit on of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, there's so many of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say none of them are as famous as Black Templar are, but next to the Black Templar, I think they have all the next most famous ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anyone else you can think of?
[SPEAKER_01]: Crimson fish.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're more famous than
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_02]: Comes in fifths are pretty famous because they're the first of a came out.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually just, you know, people getting caught up in combat, not for these guys.
[SPEAKER_02]: I do love when I first read this, it would crack me out, because Chad puts the dough, because these aren't nicknames given to my others.
[SPEAKER_02]: They are the real official names of the successor chapters, and you do have to introduce yourself.

[SPEAKER_01]: So this one was actually founded by a guy named Nassir Amit and the flesh terrors revel in the aftermath of sanguinius's death.
[SPEAKER_01]: So all of these successor chapters by the way, don't pull from ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: They all go elsewhere and they've got their own roads.
[SPEAKER_01]: They pull from and the flesh terrors went to a death world.
[SPEAKER_01]: and recruited from the absolute dregs of imperial society.
[SPEAKER_01]: Full psychos.
[SPEAKER_01]: These people, so the flesh tears, by the way, really cool paint scheme, really cool logo too.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Big big fan.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their idea was that they would just use violence and bloodlust is how they're going to control their black rage.
[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that?
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the worst plan ever.

[SPEAKER_01]: The flesh terrors are cool as hell with me though because they're, in fact, we'd the most violent version of the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: They kill all of their enemies to a man and people who like witness the savagery act like they just look away like this is just horrifying about them.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The funny thing about that, their whole plan of like, well, what does she use violence to not succumb the black rage?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the opposite happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually succumbed the black rage, fastening, so any other chapter to the point where almost no member of their chapter is two hundred years old.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas most of the chapters will get four or five hundred.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just, they cannot make it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're effectively going extinct.
[SPEAKER_01]: The other piece about them, which is equally funny, is other legions, refuse to be deployed with them, including the space wolves.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the space wolves are like, dude, you have a problem.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you have a problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like the space wolves and the flesh tears got into it because the flesh tears and the space wolves got deployed somewhere into a hive.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in the hive world, because there were some heretics there, and this flesh tear is just declared that everyone hears a heretic and ran into the hive with their chain source.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to kill the kill.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but they've actually got a really cool lore story as well though.
[SPEAKER_01]: So their story is that all much like the flesh tears, they were, they're initiates where it's coming to the black rage as soon as it came out of the sarcophagus.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so they were on the verge of extinction at which point a single battle brother has a rando dream about going up a mountain to encounter a sanguineus.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so he does that and goes up the mountain.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when he's up there, he encounters the angel that he think believes is sanguinious and tells him that all you have to do to save off the effect of the day.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really easy.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't want to save your legion is you just need to consistently drink the blood of all of your
[SPEAKER_01]: So he goes cool and goes back to his chat during tells them this idea of why don't we just drink all the blood of our servants and then we'll be okay guys and people in charge went sure we'll do we'll do that and it works
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually, they get, they go from the highest rate of blood rage to the lowest.
[SPEAKER_01]: Problem is the only thing that worked is because it was actually not sanguinious, but Cairo's fate we've heard, the Lord of Change.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Cairo says set a trap that
[SPEAKER_01]: with this because they're doing this ritual, he now can speak directly into the Legion and tempt them and should so much as one member of the Legion succumbed to Cairo's offer, the entire Legion would fall to chaos.
[SPEAKER_02]: But they don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: They haven't so far because you know, the blood drinkers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but there is one that is that does go a bridge too far.
[SPEAKER_01]: The angels for million.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll get to Dante later.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they just say no, Dante does need to accept the existence of the angels for million.
[SPEAKER_01]: And but he wants a quick story and Dante is the current chapter master of the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: All anyone knows is that there is these Rando blood angels, let's say the galaxy called the angels are million.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dante tells everyone you're not to speak to them, talk to them, interact with them, anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: And tells no one why.
[SPEAKER_01]: The reason why is because he knows that what they really do.
[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, this is basically chaos.
[SPEAKER_01]: How do you present?
[SPEAKER_01]: They have an ritual called the Sorrowing.
[SPEAKER_01]: which is a much nicer term than what it really is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's a reaping.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the sorrowing every fifty years, they gather up what is referred to as a non-significant portion of the population of their homeworld coronal.
[SPEAKER_01]: They then kill them all and drain their blood into a giant pool, where they jump in and take a bath.
[SPEAKER_01]: And while taking a bath and doing a ritual, they then take a, with, it's called a sanguanary priest, which is an apothecary and ritually sacrifice it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then in case that's not weird enough, they then once that's all done, they drain all the blood out of the pool and put it into IVs that are inside of all their power armors.
[SPEAKER_01]: which is nearly say not in keeping with Codex a start is.
[SPEAKER_02]: I think we went a little off the rails here.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not written in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: This practice was a secret for thousands of years.
[SPEAKER_01]: They pulled this off for like six or seven thousand, like a more than that, probably eight, eight thousand years.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one knows until there was this group of refugees who arrived in the planet and the local space, where the plane was, we're like, oh yeah, what did she use these guys?
[SPEAKER_01]: But a blood angel chaplain happened to be nearby when this happened, walk onto the planet, and saw this entire thing happening, and did have a little WTF dudes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, dude, dude, come on.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it actually came down to the point where him and the chapter master of Angel Vermillion came to blows.
[SPEAKER_01]: And only because of the chapter master is sanguinary guard,
[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't, the chaplain didn't cut his damn head off.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's funny is that the chaplain then threatens to destroy the chapter, says the angels are million, I'm going home, I'm grabbing all the blood angels, and we're coming back and we're wrecking you.
[SPEAKER_01]: At which point, the chapter master of the angel of her million said, if you do that, I'm going to tell the inquisition about the red verse in the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: which everyone told.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the best part.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they agreed to basically they go agree to disagree and go their separate ways.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the funny thing is at the same time, you've read the law well enough, you know, Gilliman, the custodes, the lion, the lords of Tara, the inquisition themselves because there are people serving in the death watch guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: They all know about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, the blend will just keep thing in that no one knows about their secret.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a secret.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I will say the angels are million.
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't mention them for no reason.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna come up again later and kind of a cool like again endless redemption arc.
[SPEAKER_01]: Those are just a few of my favorites.
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, there are a ton of others.
[SPEAKER_01]: There are, I want to say like, twenty five or thirty.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many good ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: And some of them have really good stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, they're in a lot of stories, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to cover more of them as we get further into like the Forty-K-Lore cast in general, because we're going to later be talking about some of the main story elements of the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of these play into a successor chapters.

[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, before we get there, I do want to talk about some of the big body angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dante Lamartais, Memphis, Don, and Pastor.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the fist hands got a three phase now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm a fist on.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's been powering up several times.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and there's a lot of others don't worry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, like our hero car line.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, more we are.
[SPEAKER_01]: Those guys are going to come up more later.
[SPEAKER_01]: When we're doing other casts on talking about just some of the especially when we talk about psychic awakening, some of you guys are going to play massive.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's start with Astoroth.
[SPEAKER_01]: As we said before, when a blood angel falls the black rage, if they survive, they're executed by the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they are a crazed murder machine and it's probably a good thing to not have that just wandering around your camp.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not really the best.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every bloody Angel's Chaplain, this is their job.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there is a very specific person who's the ultimate enforcers role and that is asked to wrath the grim, great name.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good model too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Super cool model, the black one is in the chopping axe.
[SPEAKER_01]: Astorath's jobs, a traveler around the galaxy, wherever blindels are engaged.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when I say blindels, but wait, I'll just be the result chapter.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, all success or chapters, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anytime anyone who's got blood angel jeans, he didn't miss fighting, Astorath may or may not show up when he shows up, people aren't exactly comfortable.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's probably killed.
[SPEAKER_01]: I bet you he at this point has killed more blood angels than commander.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, a hundred percent.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's been around for a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he holds the record for most dead blood angels.
[SPEAKER_02]: And the weird thing about this is they do it, they contradict themselves a little bit more because Astro does what he does, you know, to make everything go down.
[SPEAKER_02]: But he's also supposed to be keeping out of the D.L.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because they don't want everybody to know about the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they already know about the black rage and they make a point of saying, yeah, everyone's aware of where the death comes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's more when they say he's keeping the DL the way I was I interpreted that was that he's there to kill them before anyone realizes how serious the black rage is.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how I think, because I think what happens, if the Inquisition were to actually talk to someone and see someone in full black rage, they'd be like, oh, that's a demon.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a demon.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a demon.
[SPEAKER_01]: We have an issue here.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that was always my thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: What I like about asked her off, though, is that in this job, it's not just to kill the guys on the battlefield.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's that once a battle's over, they do a quick head count.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, how many deaths company went down?
[SPEAKER_01]: How many deaths company bodies do we see?
[SPEAKER_01]: If any of them's missing, let's go figure out where this murder machine is, before someone, before it wanders into like a kindergarten.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, hey, man, stop rowing in the picnic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So go on my God.
[SPEAKER_01]: So after all, actually does he'll track down like a detective in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the eighties movie, track down any missing death company and then murder them there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Seems fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, seems fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, that's him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fun thing about the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lamar days.
[SPEAKER_01]: Marty's awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lamar is was, well, is a chapel within the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he holds a key moment the lower the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: He survived the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: with asteroth present by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was there was a battle against the orcs.
[SPEAKER_01]: He has to have.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's ready for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I would say, but he didn't have to.
[SPEAKER_01]: My seat survived.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean he's successfully avoided asteroth for five hundred years.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, he actually, so they have a battle with the orcs the day before.
[SPEAKER_01]: He feels a black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: He is a chaplain.
[SPEAKER_01]: He goes to the other chaplains, tells them what's going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's given his last rights and he joins a death company.
[SPEAKER_01]: after the battle, they found him just kind of sitting down, hanging out.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like, oh, hey guys, what's up?
[SPEAKER_01]: And no one has had this happening.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've never seen it before.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the, the Apothecary is kind of given this weird look of like, all right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they grab him and they bring him back to Astoroth.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Astoroth is sitting there with his accent hand, like, ready to hear.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's do this and has that doesn't say moment of like,
[SPEAKER_01]: This is off.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's having a conversation with him.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a field sobriety test.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically being done.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's acing it, but he wreaks of whiskey.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're just getting the cotton.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just confused.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how is this possible?
[SPEAKER_01]: So after all this side, all right, I'm not killing you now.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to put you in stasis and I'm sending you back to ball where all the sanguanary priests are going to take a look at you.
[SPEAKER_02]: And that happens.
[SPEAKER_02]: Lamar does becomes a champion.
[SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't chapped.
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm saying he, sorry.
[SPEAKER_02]: He, that, that becomes he rejoins.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: He, in his role as a chap.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Screw that up.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why he, he, he.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, good.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what happens.

[SPEAKER_02]: Please, he, he went back to his original purpose.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: But he was actually.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he does two things now.
[SPEAKER_01]: What happens is two things come up.
[SPEAKER_01]: First, they get, he goes back to being normal.
[SPEAKER_01]: But second, he's actually, he becomes a much better, bigger beacon within the blood angels because this is, I want to hold only a few people who's ever successfully gone to the black raging of back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Blangels don't want to die.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's, so the hope, every Blangel now has hope that maybe the black rage won't be there and as well.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I like it because in the game, he makes the blood angels more durable.
[SPEAKER_02]: And I really feel that's because those blood angels
[SPEAKER_02]: Even though they're coming to the black rage, still have that.
[SPEAKER_01]: If I get through this, we come in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: The blood angels, chaplains are the best chaplains again.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's not even close.
[SPEAKER_01]: Rules-wise, they've had the best rules.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, just, they're either new ones do like the now they, now they have their own flying chaplains.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, seems good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Feel, feel, feel strong.
[SPEAKER_01]: Feel strong.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Funny story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lamar case isn't the only major blade of character to overcome the black range.
[SPEAKER_01]: So is a guy who later comes to know his mythist on, but starts off with calosterious Lamar case.
[SPEAKER_02]: It was a badass librarian.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he still is, but even more so.
[SPEAKER_01]: So just Lamar case is a, was it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Was he originally Lamar?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, okay, okay, different.
[SPEAKER_01]: I got this.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's, it's, it's, it's a, it's a very powerful cycle during the second war of Armageddon against the orcs.
[SPEAKER_01]: One night, he feels the black rage overcoming him.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he does again reports to his chaplain.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's inducted in a death company and they go down there while fighting down there a building collapse is on him.
[SPEAKER_02]: The whole building.
[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't like a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: He got buried by a guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: He just dies.
[SPEAKER_01]: He spent seven days stuck under the rubble.
[SPEAKER_01]: And while he's sitting there, his mind is racing with rage.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, the whole time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: And he can't do anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's just he's completely stuck in furious.
[SPEAKER_01]: And what happens is on the seventh day, because, of course, the seventh day, he gathers himself and he breaks for you the rubble.
[SPEAKER_01]: So two questions.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, does that mean every death company could have just hung out for a few days, and they'd be back to normal?
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, kind of, if you do it, maficent.
[SPEAKER_01]: And two, why did it take that long from to pick up the rubble?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I like super ragey space marine who's like full of nothing but hate and violence can't move the rubble.
[SPEAKER_01]: This one, this one makes actual sense.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because he just uses his psychic powers to get into that.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what happens.
[SPEAKER_01]: He cleans up.
[SPEAKER_01]: What turns out happened is that in his near death, his soul basically opened itself up to the immaterial and rather than the overcome by the black rage, he actually absorbed the black rage and became the black rage, which is why he never actually overcomes it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He does this as a B. What's my secret?
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm always saying.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm always saying exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's funny about this to me is that he comes out of this exponentially more powerful in combat and as a librarian.
[SPEAKER_01]: His psychic powers are now like at a twenty two out of five.
[SPEAKER_01]: and combat.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Rex also, he's so terrifying.
[SPEAKER_02]: When he comes back to the Legion, he also physically has changed an appearance.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't show up and just go, hey, guys, it's me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's a lot of stories that when he was a regular librarian within the Legion, he was chummy.
[SPEAKER_01]: He talked to people, he'd hang out with stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: The new version of him is quiet and somber.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll get more into this when we cover psychic awakening, but the fist on later crosses the Rubicon Primaris and in doing so paves away for his legion to reduce the black rage.
[SPEAKER_01]: We get more into that.
[SPEAKER_02]: And in the current stories, he has evolved even more so.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: He basically met with the spirit of the saying, when are you?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's powered up even more.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to go into that.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a fool.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's why we're not driving too much and doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I wanted to cover him.
[SPEAKER_01]: The goal here, guys, he had figures.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to cover all the people who have characters on the table top.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I'm picking a big and mild table top because I want people like, hey, who's this guy?
[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of, he's big.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's shiny.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's daunting.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's the oldest current regular Marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he's the oldest Marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dad, well, Dad, not a problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the oldest Marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the oldest Marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the oldest Marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a threat now.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's the oldest Marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Dante was born in four, forty seven of M forty.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I loved Dante.
[SPEAKER_01]: I loved Dante's story.
[SPEAKER_02]: I love we're going to give it this.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I'll like to think of my head as he's constantly gaining glory with the.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm too old this shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is that is Dante.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_02]: Because he's so annoyed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's two thousand years old.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which in a constant combat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, two thousand get the right.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to charge for a long time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, two thousand shitty years.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Dante's kind that's cool character to me because he was born in a crappy pneumatic settlement on like the
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, obviously the ass end of ball two, but the all of ball two is the ass end.
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, at the time for the greatest assembly at Angel Fall, he goes for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But to this point, no one from his settlement had ever successfully made it there because it was too far away.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dante though is sovereign.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he just goes for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's running and he's
[SPEAKER_01]: passing and yada yada, surprised the prize on a planet where there's no water or anything, he starts just succumbing to thirst.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he has his first, this is a key thing on Dante, him in the sanghanar are very close.
[SPEAKER_01]: He has his first interaction with a sanganar, who just shows up and gives him water.
[SPEAKER_01]: Holy Spirit, strong and him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dante drinks the water and takes off running some more.
[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to the trials and the cool thing about this is that whenever they do stories and GW about someone at the trials, it's always, and then he bested every one of around him and everyone was amazed by him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dante didn't, Dante just kind of survived.
[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't stand, he wasn't in the top ten, but he is, who was a cucumber?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the whole time.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, think faces this and it's still to this day.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty much, but that's why I liked it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not this super warrior.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a natural survivor.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he makes it through and they bring him back to the main ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's in tune with sarcophagus.
[SPEAKER_02]: And which does not go off.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the whole time he stays unconscious, but you're screaming the whole time he's in the sarcophagus.
[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be screaming out names.
[SPEAKER_01]: Primark, obviously, singaways, but also names of deceased blood angels who he's never met, including demons, all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: The point where when they opened the sarcophagus, each time they opened, they put it in an organ or whatever they were doing, they were like, oh, he's got to be dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: And nope, he's there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then he comes out of the sarcophagus, and they used to assume that he'd be red thirst or black rage within a couple years.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope, because Dante's just a survivor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every single time anything comes up, he's calm, he's collected.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the engagements he goes into, Dante survives, and almost always his group around him survived.
[SPEAKER_01]: There was a, we'll get to one in a second.
[SPEAKER_01]: He is, you know, the example I use for him is that he's got the undefeated record of a fighter, but no one likes watching him fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he does.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a grinder.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he just grinds people out.
[SPEAKER_02]: But the thing is, see, I like the fact that he's the guy that everybody, I mean, hell, he got the chapter master position.
[SPEAKER_02]: just because of the fact that everybody by default just kept asking him what to do because in times of great trouble, Dante, whatever, I'll just figure it out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and he's guess we'll just do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Eventually he does get this chapter master and that's when he takes on this, he gets rid of his red armor and he puts on the giant golden armor that also includes a golden face mask on him.
[SPEAKER_01]: So no one actually knows what Dante looks like.
[SPEAKER_01]: to this day because he's only only ever see him in the armor.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that brings us to Dante's biggest challenge.
[SPEAKER_01]: The devastation of Ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: We covered this in the ternia cast, but we can do it again here from a different perspective.
[SPEAKER_01]: So end of them, forty one, the galaxy is on fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: The bad news, thirteen's black crusade, he's a bad news basically pushing in towards Kadia.
[SPEAKER_01]: The destroyer plague is ripping through the entire galaxy.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a pinnacle of Nurgals.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: Nurgals power in recent years.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Necron tomb worlds are awakening at a rate never seen before.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all over the place.
[SPEAKER_01]: The towel at this point had tried to make a warp drive and actually weaken themselves.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the towel, we're actually going the other direction at this point.
[SPEAKER_02]: They lost an entire sphere.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they lost an entire sphere, like a third of their army.
[SPEAKER_01]: So towel, okay, towel weren't doing great.
[SPEAKER_01]: But everything else was a problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: You've got cultist legions, but the biggest problems high fleet Leviathan has now re-entered the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: and one of its main tendrils is on a collision course with ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is, what's important about this is that tyrannid tendrils don't move quickly.
[SPEAKER_02]: There could find them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you can predict the movement.
[SPEAKER_02]: They don't make any quams, but where they're going.
[SPEAKER_02]: Turn it's harvest everything in this path.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so all of the astronauts, everyone tells Dante, hey, this is coming.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not a small tensile.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Dante puts out a call
[SPEAKER_01]: to every successor chapter saying ball is in danger.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, help where our prime mark is buried is in danger.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please help and everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone comes including going back to the ones earlier, the angels of a million who I love this story.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's a really great story.
[SPEAKER_01]: The angels are millions show up and Dante goes, the hell are you doing here?
[SPEAKER_01]: Get the hell out of here.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the guys say, no, we actually ditched our chapter master who said not to come.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're here to fight next to you because that's more important to us than anything.
[SPEAKER_02]: I just love it because he puts out the call.
[SPEAKER_02]: He lights the fires of Gondor and everyone over thirty thousand space marines assembled.
[SPEAKER_01]: at the same time, every single resident of Bol Secundus, you know, Bol II, Bol I, like the eight people on bald, all also agreed to show up and they arm the entire, you know, civilization.
[SPEAKER_01]: But kind of like the Brad's point, the,
[SPEAKER_01]: Lord of the Rings, it's not a, you grossly overmatched.
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't have a career.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, just give you an example of how overmatched.
[SPEAKER_01]: In orbit, the blighting does assemble their entire fleet.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, a hundred and twenty capital ships, you know, and some frigates, the high fleet had close to fifty thousand ships that were coming in.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, orbit doesn't go well.
[SPEAKER_01]: I view this kind of the same way as Mass Effect Three.
[SPEAKER_01]: where it's like, you know, like, oh, yeah, we're going to, okay, and everything in orbit's dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to hold it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's over.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's time for planet fall.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the blood angels in their successor, they built up a perfect defense.
[SPEAKER_01]: Layers, layers of defenses overlapping fields of fire, we're going to take the tear and it's down.

[SPEAKER_01]: and wave after wave after wave of tyrannids or crashing us the blood angels, but there's just not enough bullets or soldiers to hold these things back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even the sangrinor shows up and it can't turn the tide.
[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, they just describe the sky as black because it's literally all tyrannids.
[SPEAKER_01]: And what happens is that blood angels accept
[SPEAKER_01]: This is it.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to die here, but we are going to die defending the tomb of our prime mark.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then me, this book is awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, the story is great.
[SPEAKER_02]: Devastation of ball is bad.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's also highly recommend the audiobook.
[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't great job.
[SPEAKER_01]: Does he?
[SPEAKER_01]: What I like about this though is that this battles coinciding at the exact same time that Abadon's final assault of Cadia with the Will of Attorney is occurring.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Will of Attorney takes the massive hit, and Abadon loses control of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He abandons it, and it just plummets in the Cadia.
[SPEAKER_01]: plowing straight through Kenya, splitting it in half and destroying the black background pile.
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yes, all of those things happen.
[SPEAKER_02]: One of those things is significantly more important than the other.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the pile, you're right, the plant we're using, but the pylons are gone.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_02]: The pilots were a big deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: As soon as this happens, a giant rift rips apart the galaxy, including, and because of where it ball is, it goes effectively right above ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they can see it through the tearing it hard.
[SPEAKER_02]: I have terror becomes the holy shit you cut the sky in half.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the most unlikely friend appears.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because while all this is happening with the tyrannids and ball, Kabanda is sitting in the immaterial, losing his effing life.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because his entire life, no one has ever been his petty
[SPEAKER_01]: As Capondez, Pepanda is watching, because he vowed he would destroy the blood angels.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's watching someone else do it, and he's trapped in the immaterial with no way to get there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Suddenly, the immaterial opens in front of him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And while all these blood angels are fighting and accepting their death against the tyrannids, the sky rips open and screaming and wailing,
[SPEAKER_01]: the entirety of the, basically all of corn's armies come rocketing out to which the bull angels of course say, well, I guess we're super mega dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: Double dead and instead, the tear in his fleet is it gets attacked.
[SPEAKER_01]: And actually, I'm being fissured.
[SPEAKER_01]: Blandos actually didn't realize how much this was happening, by the way, because the vast majority has happened on the other side of ball where there were- It's happening in the moon.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's happening all these places, because the Blandos have this one been fought back to their last stand, which is just out there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they do see an awful bunch of bloodthirstyers, and where are the little guys called bloodletters?
[SPEAKER_01]: And bloodletters just murdering tyrannids.
[SPEAKER_02]: I can't describe enough how many demons are showing out.
[SPEAKER_02]: When the initial creation of the rift became a little more controlled, but the initial creation of the rift was just
[SPEAKER_02]: Go for it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yellow swaggins.
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: They all come out and what I love about this isn't in not a short been like not a long period of time.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of the tyrannids and the entirety of the hive of the high tendril are gone just dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Kabanda
[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't want to kill the blood angels in this way.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's only going to kill them when they're at their, you won't kill them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's in the line he uses.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to kill you at your weakest.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to defeat you at your strongest to prove I'm better than you.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he then leaves.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not before though, he takes all the tyrannic skulls from all the battles and goes to the moons and writes his name on the moon and tyrannic skulls to remind the players of who saved them and come and bat later to finish this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was kind of a big deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this ends and it's called a devastation of ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: The blood hingeals now for the second time in ten thousand years are wrecked rigidity.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like none of them left.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ball one is back to fully uninhabitable.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ball itself is the fortress and like that's about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And ball two, it's biosphere is effectively collapse.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, so kind of this was almost because they were harvesting in the middle of the battle.
[SPEAKER_02]: They were harvesting all by oh my god.
[SPEAKER_01]: On this, there's not much left.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the blindials are down to like, at least, eighty percent of, and I see the legion, I see blindials.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and successor chapters, they're down eighty plus percent.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their main recruiting world is ruined.
[SPEAKER_01]: This chapter is about the collapse until everyone's favorite primarck shows up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Gilman with call.
[SPEAKER_01]: and shows up and walks of the Dante and says, hey, good news.
[SPEAKER_01]: Check out what I got, what I got in storage.
[SPEAKER_01]: Primaries, baby.
[SPEAKER_01]: Primaries, Marines.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dante, it was credit, just goes, yeah, yeah, I'll take them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because that a lot of, he's just like, yeah, all right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, Logan Grimner had had an issue with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Dante's like, yeah, it's this or we don't have to go in down.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go ahead and say this is good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so Gilman brings this massive new soldiers, and the Blangel's chapter are effectively saved.
[SPEAKER_01]: I will call out this is why, in my opinion,
[SPEAKER_01]: people in plain blood, just for a while, hate primaris marines more than anyone, because I know at least a dozen people who've been playing for decades at this point with blood angels and then got effectively told in a codex that, oh, actually, your whole army should be primaris now.
[SPEAKER_02]: And it should, you shouldn't have any first born because there aren't any more.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're all dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have no idea how angry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I know Blazberg's who quit the game for a period of time, people who just cursed GW's name over and over again, because... Hold on though, to be fair.
[SPEAKER_02]: The primeurist sized models make so much more sense in the size and scope of the game right now, though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know, but it just, it, it, it doesn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I get it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I get what they're saying.
[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't collect the issue as you had people who spend.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I have used your models in twenty twenty four more than I've used for anything I have.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's because, well, one day you'll play artillery.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can get big enough migraine and then you'll realize, oh, this is the convenient way to play.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can literally sit in a chair and play the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: One other thing too that's fun about this is during the devastation of ball going back to Grumpy Dante.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dante got slain by a tyranny.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he single handed a swarm Lord in combat.
[SPEAKER_01]: He yellowed a swarm here.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then he got stabbed.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he was lying in the battlefield dying after two thousand years of service.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he looks up and he sees sanguineus and the sanguineur above him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's just happy.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I'm ready.
[SPEAKER_01]: Same way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just take me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Take me with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have served my time.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's so bummed.
[SPEAKER_01]: And sanguineus goes, now you got more to do and resurrection.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also fairly pissed about, well, and because he doesn't just resurrect him, he resurrects him and gives him a new charge saying that I'm resurrecting you because you're gonna lead a charge that will save the Imperium from Rowan.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Stante has to do to your point.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm too old for this shit, set up in the middle of the battlefield and go fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he gets up, keeps fighting by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: and has had and has gotten back all of his blood angels and they're now gearing up for a fight that Dante doesn't even know what it's for, but he's just getting ready to fight on whatever the superior needs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's pretty awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dante's great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dante is a fantastic character.
[SPEAKER_01]: So here we are.
[SPEAKER_01]: Modern Forty Kay, ball itself is now a key staging ground for the imperial forces because the riff is there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can see it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've, they're using it the fight to traders.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're also pretty good fighting tyrannies at this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think from there, we'll call it a break.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason why is to get more to the bloody angels' lore, it becomes less bladial centric and more kind of empirically where they're, they're a key part of something, through dark imperium, psychic awakening, Leviathan.
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the democulus, could you say?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it will still do more of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: But we're in the future guys to be doing like seven part casts going through stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the blend will be like one of those parts because it'll be there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, personal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because a lot going on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think this has been the goal here when we do these like chapter focus ones is to make it so people who play the Legion get something they enjoy.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's actually more for people who don't play the Legion to really understand, oh, that's what the players are.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I do want to play them.
[SPEAKER_01]: or at least when I play them I know why the hell is gold guy with with curls is on the board like what is a sanguine or now you know.
[SPEAKER_01]: So from there I think we'll call it next week we're going to I'd even bread to even know this and telling them now next week we're going to hardly
[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
