Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Bachelor Happy Hour and we are drum roll, officially one week away from the heavily anticipated premiere of The Bachelorette and I cannot wait. We are so excited. And as you know, last week, we took a little break from our Bachelorette series to introduce all of the men that you will be seen heading into Clare's season, and we have so much fun doing that. But we have to get back to our girls because we have not only one of our favorites, but also one of the most requested guests on our podcast. Today, we are having missus Jojoe Fletcher on and she's always a great time. I always just love chatting with her. She's so inspiring. So we're super pumped to have her before the premiere because she has some pretty exciting news to share with everyone. Yeah, I'm really happy to have Joejoe come on because, you know, I feel like there's so much more to her that people like. People know that she does the home stuff, you know, she's got her foot in that, they know that she's got this great relationship with Jordan, but there's a lot of depth to Jojo that I feel like We're privy too that other people don't get to see from her because she's pretty private. You know, she doesn't really do podcast, so we're very lucky to have her on. She doesn't really have her toe in Bachelor World, but will come in as a guest from time to time. But she really does her own thing in her personal life. So if you do follow Jojo, you know this girl is always busy. We love to see a girl booked and busy, and that is Jojo. Just so many incredible projects, but we know that her bread and butters in the homespace. I heard her fiance are the King and Queen of flipping houses, and on the subject of houses and moving and designing, Becca, I thought it would be great if, you know, we could give our listeners a little update on our lives, as you guys may or may not know. And I know you know because I see you in our DMS. I see our DMS, I see them in my DM, so I know they're in yours. Rebecca, we see you guys in our comments. You know, we've made it no secret that we both recently moved to la and we're getting a lot of questions about it, and so rather than let you create your own narrative, We're going to tell you how it is, because one thing Becca and I are always going to give you on this podcast is honesty, even when it's really difficult, and so we're going to start that right now with our La experience. So Becca, why did you decide to move to La? Well, thank you for asking. Rachel, Contrary to what people like to say that I just went to LA for fame, because that is so far from it for me personally, it was a very last minute decision. I obviously was going through a breakup. I was back in Minnesota spending time with my friends and family, and there was a hot second in there where you know, it was comfortable, it felt normal. I grew up there. I was like, oh, maybe I'll buy a house in Minnesota. But then there was still this like underlying thing that I still wanted California. I didn't want to spend another winter in Minnesota. I still wanted to be in the sunshine. So it actually happened because I was facetiming with a friend and she was just like, moved to LA. Just do it like it's calling your name. You know, you're you don't have anything holding you back right now. And so that night I got off the phone with her, I looked, I went on like Redfin or Zillo or whatever app I was using, found a furnished apartment and signed a lease that night. Didn't tell anyone. And so then the next day or in a couple of days, I was with by some of my friends and family, and I was like, oh, by the way, I'm moving to LA in a couple of weeks. So it wasn't very thought out. It was very spur of the moment, but it was so smart because I will say this, I the first time I ever came to California was right before I came on the show a couple of years ago, and I fell in love with me. I loved the warmth. I loved the fact that you could really do anything in the state. You could go to the ocean, you could have the mountains, you have the vineyards, you of the cities, and I just fell in love with it. And so when Garrett and I first got off the show and we're trying to figure out where we were going to live at that point, we threw La into the mix, but he didn't want that. And so now I'm like, well, I'm finally on my own and I'm gonna do it for myself. And it's the best decision I think I've ever made. Besides getting Mino, it's the second best decision. Okay, I'm getting Mariah Carey butterfly vibes. Hearing Utah, fetch your wings and prepare fly. You can be maybe excess. Her book just came out to say, but I'm getting I'm getting butterfly vibes. They are good for you, girl, I mean, very similar to you. I had the I came to La not the first time, but I came to La right for a baby shower. One of my best friends has been out here for years, and I came for a baby shower right before a month before I went to a bachelor audition. And I remember being there and I was like, gosh, I can't describe the feeling that I have here, but it's such a vibe. I feel very connected to the city and I'm going to come back here at some point. And I thought I would move there, take a bar and practice law out in California. Well then bats are happened and all of that, and it's something Brian and I have talked about. We actually looked for property here three years ago, right when we finished the show, and it just didn't work out because I am very like everything has to be put together and everything has to be perfect. I'm very type A and so I thought, I cannot come to LA until it makes financial sense for me to be out here. But an opportunity came about where it afforded me the chance to be out in LA, and then COVID happened and I ended up still getting a place out here, and then Extra happened, which I thought I was just going to do special correspondent work, and then they offered offered me a full time position, and so I already had a place out here because I was going to go back and forth, and thankfully I have the support of Brian, who was like, go, this is what you've been working for the last few years. And we just were like, okay, we're gonna put pen to paper write a plan out for ourselves. So yes, you guys, we have a plan, we have goals, and it's not anybody else's timeline. Like it's so funny how people are like, oh my goodness, you don't you move to LA And he lives there, and I'm like people in the army live separate from each other, like people who are consultants have to travel all the time. It's not ideal, but it's not abnormal that sometimes you have to do a bicoastal thing. But as long as you have a strong foundation and you're committed to each other and you have a plan, Mike, this is definitely not how we want to live forever. Well, I'm glad that you bring that up because prior to us, you know, airing this and recording, you mentioned that people are still flighted in your dms, thinking like, oh my gosh, you and Brian break up, what's going on? And you know, it's like we all experienced these weird dms and like this sort of invasion of privacy in different ways. Obviously I got it because I was going through a breakup. But you are in a happy, committed relationship, and I'm glad that you said other people do long distance for a certain amount of time, like the military. You know, my cousins who are in the military have been married ten years and they've probably spent half that time together because they can't be together. And you make it work. But if you have those goals in mind, and if he is supportive and vice versa, you can make it work. And so yeah, I think it's great that you have Brian and you know what. To be honest, sometimes people need alone time, like you need to get settled here, find your groove here, and that's okay. Yeah, And I'll be honest, it's hard. I'm not gonna lie. You spend six months quarantine with someone, it is difficult to change that up. I mean, it's like such a stark contrast to what we had before. But I think what's important for people to understand is that I'm not chasing something. I'm trying to build something for our family that we're trying to create. And that's all people really need to know. Like, I get it. We're in the public eye. You met us on television, you followed our love journey on television, So there's certain things that you want to know, and I think in some respect you deserve to know. But we're not going to tell you everything. And I think that it's just important. Don't don't push your narrative on us, give us an opportunity to talk to you guys about it. I think that's the beauty of podcasting. We can have these open conversations and you feel like you're sitting at the table with us while we're having our little girl chats. And that's why I like when people There's two types of people I've noticed in my DMS or in my comments. The ones who care to know and care to ask the questions. And then there are the people who assume they already know and they're already casting their judgments on you. And so the prior option is ones that we can deal with, because if we feel like you want to have that conversation, you're open to learning, you want to ask us, and we'll reply with honesty. But it's when you have the people who are like, oh, well she moved there, so they must have broken up, or Rachel's there. You know, it's just it's a lot of hearsays. So I'm glad that we can do this now. I hope that guy. I think we answered what I was going to ask you what the best and worst part of moving is, But I think we've pretty much answered. I think the best part is that we have a chance to be creative and to start fresh and new and build something. And the worst part is just other people, you know, putting their own opinions on us when they don't really understand what it is that we're doing. So yeah, you know, I would say, playing off of what you just said, the best part is moving to this new city, having a new chapter. It feels magical here and the fact that I not only have you and now Andy's here and Kaylyn's here, we have so many of the bachelors and other friends too from the show that that's something that I love. I would say, so far, it's the best part. The worst is just sometimes living alone. You really have to learn some new things. And you know, I was used to living with Garrett for two years. He would help me out with a lot of stuff, so now it's just doing it on my own. But there's a special sense of like independence that comes with that. They're really embracing and enjoying, even though I do get frustrated sometimes I'm like, oh, I can't carry all these boxes and like put in a lock on my door, and but I'm trying to embrace it and look at the positive of it. So yeah, oh, we can't keep talking about la I mean, please keep writing to us, because we will keep answering your questions. But right now we have to get to one of our most favorite girls. So if there's anyone who's going to have some sound advice for moving, designing, and living your best life, it is going to be Jojoe Fletcher. So without further ado, we are welcoming the d I Y. I'd say that five times fast. We're welcoming the d I Y Queen and Bachelotte Royalty Joe Joe. But welcome Jojo. This is your first time on our podcast. It's my first time I'm here him. Let it be known. Wait, let it be known. Jojo never really podcast, so this is never great this time. I think I've done like one podcast in my life. Becca's was it strugging it? Yeah, I'm so honored. Yeah I know that, I sure thing. So thank you, thank you so much. Oh my god, Well it's only because I love you. Guys. Well, you are like one of the busiest women that I know, so I'm so excited to finally have you on. Joe. Joe did say that she almost didn't make it because she was at a park with her cute little nephew, So I'm glad that you made it here. But we have to start. We've been talking about Puerto Rico. You are there, now, get us caught up on your life. How have you bad? Oh, my gosh, so good. Yeah, we're in Puerto Rico right now. We've been here for like a couple of months, which is crazy. My brothers live here. We always come here to vacation, and Jo and I were like, you know what, why don't we go down and spend some time here. It was in the middle of obviously COVID. We're not doing anything else, we can't really be doing anything. So we came down here and we actually found a property that we purchased that we're going to start renovating. So now we have a second home and it's just super fun. I'm like an islander now I'm living the island life. You are listen, Maybe we should start a community out there if you find a second home that you're gonna flip, maybe maybe a third three for one. Actually no, we're not flipping this one. We're gonna keep it. We're renovating it, we're gonna live in it. We're down here, so we're so so excited about it. But I do have to work on my Spanish and that's what I have learned. We got you, girl, we got you. Well, barter for services here. Brian and I will come down. You give us the room and Brian can can help you with your Spanish for sure, and me because I can, I come down to be like the honorary caretaker of the dogs. You guys can come down for no reason other than just coming down hanging out too. You know you don't have all your services, but I'll take it. I want Joe. It's so true about being on the island because we went to a rub before our one year And maybe these are just adult conversations you start having you get older, but Brian and I were like asking how much property is down there and how like where the different communities were, and like part of our time there was touring around, yeah, saying if we could buy a place there, So like I get it. There's something about the island life that it is. And it's just so nice that like my brothers are here, Like I have a nephew, my brother's first kid, and I missed him so much, so I've gotten to spend so much more time with him, and like I was just at the park with him and I hopped on my golf cart because I was like, shoot, I have ten minutes till this podcast. Just golf carted back to my rental. So it's like such a fun way of living too. It's like it's amazing, we love it, and it's the perfect time. I mean, let's be honest, everything is shut down. It's the best time to be stuck on an island for sure. Wait side, did you guys hear about the couple They were on their honeymoon in the Mall Dieves and they got stuck, like when the quarantine first started. They were star on in the Maldeves and then they had fun because they weren't quite sure how they were going to afford it, like after the two weeks. But yeah, oh COVID stuff. Like they got stuck there. I were the only people at the resort, so the resort was like waiting on them hand and foot. It was yes, they had they had worked. They were the only ones. There was everyone else left before that, and it's like you literally had your own private island. It's like castaway, except fancy if I and no Wilson and no Wilson. Yeah, the only thing that would make me want to go home as if my dogs were with me. But I have my dogs with me, and I'm like, I am good. Yeah, you're living the dream er you now. I watch you on your inst stories and I'm like, oh, I wish I want to teleport myself there. Be honest. Did you go out there because you were trying to run away from your season being on the Great Wow? You know? You know? Like no, we were actually in Dallas when that aired, and that was such a funny thing for us because Jordan had never seen it, and I felt like I got the past. Like I feel like a lot of couples go through that thing and it's sometimes it ends up in an argument or a disagreement, whatever it is. And I was like, oh, I don't have to deal with that. Then the second time they aired it, he loved it. He was like rooting for all the other guys and like this is weird, but I kind of like it, like you're fun. I love it. I remember looking at that and I'm like, hush, see, that's when you know you've reached a certain level because it's like growth maturity. Those little things don't bother you. Someone literally asked me the other day, is it hard when your significant other has to watch your season back, and I said yes, because you can tell them every single detail, and it's totally different when they watch it and their friends and their family are watching it and they're questioning things. So it's so great that, like both times, we're a win for you. Yeah, I'm sure. I mean at the time, the only time you watch it was four years later, so that probably helps you know, so, but yeah, it was so much fun watching it that. Yeah. Well, and it's good. It's like and I feel like we've always had the bachelorts on it. It's a fun walk down memory lane, and at this point, you know, a few years removed, there's not that weird awkward. I feel like everyone for the most part gets along with totally their exit. And I'm sure Jordan got along with most of the dude. So it's yeah. I can't imagine though, like having to relive that a little bit. Um Well, speaking of seasons, we obviously saw yours, but are you excited for the upcoming season and what news can you share with us about it? Oh, listen, I've gone the rundown on what news I can and can't share. I throw that out the window and be Free Girl, be an Islander. Yeah, man, Yes, I'm so excited about this fummy season. I had a chance to go down there and visit and help Chris out, so I kind of jumped into some craziness which I wish I can tell you about. Um but it was. It's going to be a very I don't want to say, dramatic, and it's always remembered a very unexpected season with a lot of strange, unusual things happening. Um me stepping in for Chris rush robe time, which is very unusual. But it was a lot of fun and I'm super excited to see how it all plays out. I think it'll be good. I mean, if people haven't seen a lot of the rumors out there there, I mean there was so much circulating during filming. I mean spun side note. All three of us make a quick little appearance on it different reasons. But it was so funny being there because not Rich. Sorry, Jojo, you texted me. I think you texted me the day I was leaving. You all got there, so you were in quarantine. I was already done filmm and I just hosted a date and we were joking because I was reading the spoilers. I'm like, wait, did Jojo? Like did Chris Harrison leave? Because I just saw him last night? What's going on? JoJo's sticking over? And then there's like all these rumors about other people as the new Bachelorettes and like Hannah, like all these people were there, so no one quite knows what's going to go down, so I think it'll be very It's funny too, because when I got the call that said, hey, you know, Chris has to take us under college and he needs some help with some of these things. Can you come in and do it? I was like, that sounds so fun. And when I came, they didn't tell me anything, Like I had no clue you said that. I was even walking at you not a clue. So I show up, I meet with Chris and he gives me the rundown. I'm like, you're leaving me with this? All right? Um? Here goes nodang? Is that on camera when he was breaking it down for you? No been been classic? Like are you sure you have to leave me? I I What I love the most is when the rumor mill goes crazy, so does our bachelorette chat. So everybody's like Jojo what's going on you? Okay, it's all good. Um, I know, because I was like, I love that if he had to step away, the fact that they brought in a woman to be a part of the Bachelorette season, I think it is pre be awesome. Jojo. I have to know this because I'm sure everyone's gonna ask. So obviously, Chris is Chris, and he has his one liners, he has his mannerisms, he has the Okay, ladies are gentlemen, the final roles of the night. Did you Paul like, did you channel him when you were hosting for him? What was it like walking in his shoes? Okay? I have so much to say about this. Um. You know, anytime I've been on the show, whether it's as a contestant or as a lead or if I've come back to do like guest stuff, it's always just there's no rules. You say whatever you want, you do whatever you want, you ask how you are. And that's great. When you're given the role on the job of fillin ym for Chris and he's the greatest of all time, and he is so phenomenal at his job and those one liners and just delivering things. I was so stressed out about does not. I was just so stressed about not living up. He did the expectation, you know, he trusted me to like do this. But the amazing thing was that I wasn't going to come in there and try to be Chris, you know, I was just coming in to help him out. And so there were like scenarios where I had to actually deliver a message that wasn't just Jojo being stupid and saying whatever, never never the Chris Harrison lines, though you'll never hear me say this, the final rows, I don't think. I don't. I'm pretty sure I've never said that unless I know. So. It was super fun, super stressful, so exciting. I hope, I hope I did everyone sort of proud. But it's hard. It's hard. He does it. He does such a good job at what he does that you can never compare to him, you know what I mean. And that's not what the goal was. Yeah, But I think that's an interesting perspective because a lot of people think, oh my gosh, it's so easy what this person does, or Chris Harrison in this instance, and it's like when you actually get there, it's like, actually, it's not there's an art to this, and he's perfected it one hundred percent. And I remember texting him because he even said he's like, oh, you're gonna be great. He's like, nothing I do is that hard, and so I was like, Okay, you're right, you you make it look so breezy. And I remember after my first go at doing something, I sent him a text. I was like, this is not that easy, like you totally like down plate it, and it's just like it's because he's perfected that are and he's so good at He's just good man, and it is it's such a simple thing, but there's an art to delivering things and getting messages across and so yeah, but I've playing off of what Rachel said of bringing in a woman. You are just you have the spirit about you that I think you're gonna make it your own, even though yes, you are filling in for him for a bit as the host. But it's gonna be fun to watch and I think it'll be fun for viewers to have a little break in the middle, switch things up a little bit. I have to know, though, because when I think of Chris throughout like my time, you know, while I was on the Bachelor, one of many, and then as the lead. He does such a good job of not only formatting the show and laying things out and delivering message, but he's also there as a confidant and sometimes a therapist when you needed. Did you have to play that role for the Batstoat and any of the men. I did get to do that with who was still on the show, and that was probably my most favorite thing, you know, because it was a way that I could relate because I've been in that sort of scenario and I had you know, I've gone through that experience. So that was my most favorite thing about the whole thing. In that part I wasn't stressed about at all, which is amazing. Yeah, because you are just can just be you. I'm sure you were experienced with them. I think that's cool that you guys do that. So Jojo, Like the world has been going through a lot, obviously in so many different ways. There's so much sadness and sickness and suffering going on for various reasons. But like, the world is going through things, but personally people have been going through them as well, and so for you, unfortunately, I know you had to push back your wedding date. And I don't know what's that been like for you, because I feel like there are a lot of our listeners or even maybe they know someone who's struggling with that same thing. Totally. Yeah, I mean to be honest, we when the whole COVID thing started, I'll be honest. When I first heard about it, I was like, no way, it's going to make it to hear, No way we're going to be actually affected by it. Then when it came here and we were seeing people getting affected by it, I thought, no way, it'll last a song, you know, no way, we'll have to postpone our wedding. So we actually waited till, you know, as long as we could, until we realize, okay, no, this isn't going anywhere. This is a real thing, and we had to make the difficult decision to either postpone or just have a really small intimate wedding just him and I and close family, because at that point, you know, our family was very concerned. We weren't even spending time with our moms and our dads, and so it was one of those things we talked about and to us and for me, like this is a moment. I we both have waited for for so long, and every person that's on our guest list is so special to us and so important to us that it wouldn't be the same to me do not have them there. And so I think both Joy and I agreed on that, and we said, listen, we've waited four years already, waiting another year is not going to kill us. It's okay, we'd rather wait, and everyone feels safe and comfortable and confident to travel and not be worried or weird. And so it was a no brainer decision for us, and I bumped. Of course I'd be married right now and life would probably be you know, a little different. Actually I don't know it could be different. I mean it doesn't who knows. I'm telling you. It's it's great because you're like, it's official and you're married. Yeah, like some more jewelry on your hand, but it's real. You feel exactly the same, Like you're a little bit more giddy, you know. But it's honestly, you're right. When you stay so long together, you've lived together exactly. That was our thing too. It's like not much probably will change. So yes, we were bummed, but it was the right decision, and I know it was so hard for so many other people that had to make that decision. We got super lucky and the fact that, like, our vendors have been amazing and we we haven't had any really bad scenarios where we are out a bunch of money or this didn't have our this and work week, our venue can't take this at this time. So we've gotten really lucky with that. But now we're just waiting another year, so it'll actually this is funny. So um, oh wait, maybe I shouldn't say this because then it'll give away. We haven't said the exact date that we're getting married yet for next year. Um, but it is not way'll ruin it, no mind, Texas after I'm intriguing. After It's really not that big. We are getting married May of next year, though, so it'll be right around our five year anniversary, which is which is crazy. Yeah, I can't believe it's been five years. That is crazy to me. It is crazy to think about because I remember watching your season and I feel like it was just a couple of years ago, like that, time flies. I need to ask this, and I'm sure everyone else is probably wondering because I like your style, your setec, the way you vision things is so beautiful, and so have you Did you go into the initial wedding planning process with a vision in mind? And is that still the same or has it changed now that you have more time to kind of replan everything revamp it. A good question. I feel like I get that question a lot, but I hadn't really like I think I always had like some answer for it, But when I really think about it, I don't think. I think I had this idea of what I wanted it to feel like, and not necessarily know what it looked like. It was when we were looking at our venues, like there was one venue that was one way and there was a venue that was another way, and I saw two different, completely different weddings at each one of those venues. So I think when it came down to what venue we ended up loving, my whole esthetic sort of just came to life and the idea started flowing. And so I had this somewhat idea. But for me, most importantly, I just want my wedding and that weekend I wanted to be so filled with love and I want people to I want people to have an experience for themselves. I want them to walk away from that and obviously be excited that they got to see us Mary, but be like, wow, that was a really incredible weekend and I won't forget that for the rest of my life. As we really want to make sure it's something that our guests who are taking their time and their money and you know, all this to come to our wedding, we wanted to be memorable for them. So I have no clue what that is all going to come together and look like a year from now. I thought I did, and I think they we're gonna stick to it, but things can change. I don't know what new things I'm gonna see or new dresses I'm gonna see, and I don't know what's gonna change. So we'll see. Do you have a dress picked out? Yes? Okay, you guys, this is the part, and Rachel maybe you can speak to this. But you have to choose your dress months and months in advance anyway, because it takes a long time to get it altered and whatnot. So when I chose my dress, it was like nine months before when the wedding, or ten months before when the wedding was supposed to be this year. Now I'm fast forward. Well, it's basically a year and a half from when I chose this dress. Like I'm telling I keep seeing new things and I'm like, oh my gosh, you're screwed. You gotta start looking. I'm well, I can't help it. Instagram so good at targeting me, just targeting it knows that I'm thinking about it as I always see new things. I'm like, I've really followed so many different bridal accounts for this reason, and they still find me. Just do the grand, Just do the grand outfit change. I already have two dressing doing that, a weekend wedding seeker, all of them. So I have to ask, because you have a thousand and million and one thing's going on you obviously filled in for Chris Harrison. You are planning a wedding and maybe getting a potentially a third wedding dress, who knows. But if you are a busy girl, So what are some other projects that you have going on right now? Um? Well, you know, obviously my real estate staff is that I continue to do. So we are working on a new build project in Dallas right now. At the same time, we just bought this remodeling here in Puerto Rico. So I'm still working on all of my remodels and my renovations because that's something that I will do for the rest of my life and I love. But I recently actually just launched this is so big for me. Just launched my own home decor line with Etsy as a collaboration, and it was just like the coolest thing ever to be able to do something that I'm so passionate about and with the Etsy team and the Etsy makers, It's it's really cool. And so that just launched. I'm super excited because I get to do a fall collection with them too. So that's been keep emmy busy. That and my dogs and Jorgan and life and everything's really good. That's a lot. That's definitely a lot. So maybe this is a selfish question that I'm going to ask, but I feel like our listeners are going to appreciate this as well, So I appreciate this as well. But what is some advice that you have for first time home buyers? Because I still rent, but like now we're in first of all, Brian and are just trying to figure out where are we going to plant roots. Yeah, you know, and that's been the biggest deal for us. And then we're like, Okay, we can actually buy a home there, so we would be first time home buyers. And I'm sure there are a lot of other people who are trying to figure that out now. So what's some great advice. Oh well, I remember the first home that I ever bought on my own, and it was the first home that I was ever going to renovate, and I actually it wasn't a success story. I actually lost money on it and it didn't end up going well for me for a few reasons. Other than a few reasons, and it was the most The biggest one I would say is I didn't do my like due diligence. I didn't know enough about the location, which I would say, location is like the biggest thing when I go to buy a home, whether it's for an investment over myself personally, because you want your properties to appreciate and you want to know that if you do sell it, you're not going to lose money. So I would always just help perscent homebuyers look at really good locations, look at the area, look at the compt and pick a place that you know you're not going to lose money. And what it means it's growing and you see more new bills happening. But just be smart with your money. Really know about your finances too. Don't just jump into something. Really know your numbers and break it down and look at your worst case scenario. I do this when it comes to renovations. If I feel one hundred percent comfortable about my worst case scenario, if everything was to go to shit and I have my little like security bank of money that I'm gonna use, if I'm okay comfortable with that all going to hell, then it was a good purchase. I love that I might need to have you help me because I've been dabbling with the idea of buying out in La so I might need to have you come out here and help up. It's like it's kind of scary when you buy your first home because it's a lot of money. Like that's a lot of money. That's a huge purchase. I think it's so smart. I think if you're able to do it, that's such a great way to park your money and it's your own home and you're not wasting money on rent um. But I get white people rent you know what I mean. So it just has to fit within your lifestyle, on your means, and you have to just feel really comfortable with it. I think it's scary too, because I don't know. I don't know if you feel this, Becca, But like for the first time, I'm like, but do I do I have enough money? Like does it? Does it make like I don't do that. I don't think money to think that I was okay to buy a home. I was literally having this conversation with someone the other day. Is it better do you think to like start from the ground up? Because like okay for Becca and iron La for example, So the land is more worth more than is it better to like flip? Is it better to just buy something that's already there? And I don't I don't know, Yeah, honestly, you know, you know, it just depends because sometimes a lot of people think that a remodel or renovation is going to be less expensive, but that's not always the case because sometimes you get into these scenarios where they create more problems than just starting from scratch. And so it really and that's what I go back to. You really need to do your homework and you're studying your due deal just before you buy any property, because if you're gonna go in and you think you're gonna renovate this house, I'm like, Oh, I just need to fix the floors and put it in, you know, some fresh paints. There could be way bigger issues. It could be plumbing, electrical, foundation, and those out of so quickly. So I think it was just like it depends if you can find a steal of a lot that's like a really good deal and you find a good contractor that might be the best route. I just love renovations, though I don't know what. And Jordan's more of the new build guy. We're doing a new build project right now and it's our first one that's not for us personally, so I'm actually kind of excited to see how that plays out because that's gonna be our first sort of development that's not a remodel. Was Jordan always into it or like once he got with you, he was like, hey, babe, I kind of like this. So Jordan, no, I mean, like in the real estate development world, is never or something he ever thought he would do. However, he was always really interested in like tinkering with things. He liked to build little things in his back door. With his brother, they would go to the wood shop. So he's always tinkering. And so when we got together, I actually had purchased a house right before I went on to the bachelorette and I didn't have time to work on it. So right after we got together, we came back home and it was literally I think three days after we got home. I said, I have a project. You're coming with me, brought him in and he just went to town. It was amazing. He just like soaked it all in and started ripping stuff off the wall. He was like the best free labor ever. And now I just takeing with me everywhere every time I go. You don't what, Joe, Joe. I need to put myself up because I want to learn certain tricks of this trade to know how to do it on my own. And so I might just hop along whenever you guys need help put me to work. I don't have big muscles, but I'll try my damn this. I honestly I didn't. I didn't go to school for this. I was a biology major. I was premed. I would I think the MCAG got yeah, like I was going to medical school, got in and it wasn't until right before that I decided this is not for me, M my whole family. I'm a family fool of nurses and doctors. And that's just what I always thought I was supposed to do. Um And I just knew that unless I was super passionate about it, that I would burn out so quickly and I wouldn't even make it through medical school. I think I lost that smart girl, but then it left me with a biology degree and nowhere to go with that, you know what I mean. There's not really much you can do with the biology there unless I wanted to go be a teacher. But I didn't like biology, Like that was my problem. I studied it, but I didn't like it. Um. So I just told myself, listen, I like the idea of real estate. I don't have my real estate life and either. I just kind of bought my first property, check out a loan and found a builder and just started working on fans And that's that's how I started. And so I started in wake up on Baylor's campus because I was living there at the time. It was my senior year. That you got property for a good price too, oh girl, and wake up. It was so cheap. But now Chip and Joanna Gates have loaned it up. But I'm going back to what you're saying. I didn't know anything about it, you know what I mean. I just started doing it, and then anytime I had a question, I would just YouTube it or I would look it up, or I'd buy books. And then I found a contractor that I just didn't know who he was. I sent him an email, I said, can I follow you? Can I just go to your projects with you and just watch and see how you talk to your crew and see how you do these things. And so that's kind of how I learned. And I still don't know all the ins and outs of construction, but I know what I like, I know what I need to look out for, and I have a vision I think for thing. But it's like, you just teach yourself like anyone can do it, you don't even have to do it. You got to give yourself more credit than that, because that's Jo, that's super inspiring. I didn't know you. You need to hear this, Jojo, I was saying, this is so inspiring, Like this, you need to give yourself more credit. Not everybody can do this that's a really inspiring story to hear how you started literally like grassroots, ground up, like you know what I mean, like shadowing other people. You really need to write a how to book or even tell your story. Put the put the no. I'm I'm dead serious, Like that's hella inspiring and I never know about you. Thank you, thank you, And I still have a lot to learn too, which there's nobody a thing now, you know what I mean, But the fact that you you would take it upon yourself to research, to reach out to a contractor to say, Hi, can I just follow you in job? Shadow you? I don't think. I mean, I think there are people out there that have that mentality, fits something that they really want to go for, but a lot of people to just try to take the easy route. So and especially as what you were a senior in college, Well at that point I had graduated, and so I was like right out of college and trying to figure out, like, first off, how I'm going to make money. So while I was doing this, I got into medical sales because I at least know I had a medical background, and so I did medical sales for a while, and that's how I was able to like pay my bills and do all that. But then I just tried to keep learning. And then at the point of when I went on to The Bachelor, that's when I quit the medical sales job and I just said, when I come back, I'm going to be full real estate because it's something that i'd been doing and I was way more passionate about it and loved it. How many homes out total have you built or flipped and worked on? Oh, I'd like one too, Oh my gosh, eight nine. I think we're like right around sixteen. Yeah, Oh my gosh. How many has you done before you went on the show, before I went on to The Bachelor. Yeah, Oh, I'd only done too. That's only like a full You have an empire now, you like a full team, like your go to I wish I had a team, which is I'm still I'm still the landlord for my college Baylor Waco property, which is really funny. Now, by the way, I totally forgot about this, Jojo. I was on a flight. It was two years ago. It was right after I got off of the show, and there was a man on my flight who I think you flipped one of his rental properties. Somewhere in Texas. I do not remember it was for your show. Um oh gosh, I'm totally real in Texas. It was in Texas. It was, and it was a smaller home. It wasn't a big, big job he made it, at least from what he made it seem like. But he recognized because I literally just like my season finished airing and Garrett and I were on a fight together and he's like, wait, how do I know you guys? Are you on a show? He's like, do you know Joe Joe? And I was like, yes, oh my gosh, yeah, small world, but but yeah, it was. I saw it on your show and it was awesome. I just don't remember his name, so sorry. Well, then't often in Dallas, do you know? I think it was Dallas. We did two in Dallas, one and Grand Brain. We did a ware house in Dallas, but that was a big project. Yeah, it wasn't a ware house anyways, we'll figure it out, okay. Yeah, but that's how like you're all over the place. It's crazy that sixteen houses. I mean, I texted you when I was looking a few months ago, and I picked your brain asking should we should we flip a house and you know, print and put more into it. But but then I was like, I don't know what the hell I'm doing, So I got way too nervous for that idea. Yeah, no, I get that. I know exactly who I'm coming to. Get ready, Rachel and I are going to get you out here. Jo you help you guys. It would be a dream to be able to do something in La. It is so expensive. You're talking to Minnesota here, like that's why it's harder to buy there. That's the thing, you know what I mean. It's like and Rachel, you know, like Dallas prices versus La prices are night and day. But it's like in Florida. I mean, are you where are you? Are you still in Florida? Rage too? No, Well, mainly here now because is here like throughout the week, so back and forth when I can, but COVID it's like I have to quarantine if I get on a plane. So Brian has to make the trips back and forth here. Okay, I have questioned, how has that been? Love? So I've been here three weeks now and I'm not gonna lie. It's it's it's similar to what you were saying when you came back on the show, and you know when you were so out of touch when you had to do the itms, Because before we were just like machines. So before COVID, I was traveling so much. I was never at home, so I was like really accustomed to being on the road and being separated. Going to spending almost six months every day together. I would have thought that would drive me crazy, to be home that much. I loved every single moment. So it's been really like, honestly, it's been really really hard to be separated. He comes next week and I'm really gonna be like, we gotta like we said we have a timeline, but now I'm like about that timeline because I'm really struggling honestly being in La Yeah, Brian out here him to make the move. I know. I'm very grateful that he's supportive of me, like going after something that's been a dream of mine, and like he's still doing this practice in Florida and so it's like he's doing his thing, I'm doing mine, and like we have our we have our goals, but there's nothing better than that than a man. Oh, because before I did not have I've never had that never Yeah, yeah, that's really cool. Pages and chapters in the book here, Oh my gosh, Jojo. I like, seriously, I apologize for everybody who's listening to this podcast because I feel like Becca and I have selfishly hijacked the conversation for our own needs. But I do feel like it's gonna be talking to you. I don't think any of my friends. It's like it's crazy, it's it's it's wonderful, and like our sisterhood is great, our Bachelor Bachelorette group chat is fire. We're speaking up. I feel like it's been silent for like a hot second. I'm gonna text everyone right now and just kid it going again. Well clip the season starts in two weeks. It's gonna be. I mean it's gonna be. It's gonna be, like Claire, what the hell, guys, we still have to post that video. We knew, I know all the people don't know. The people don't know there's a video. You guys, there's a video out there. Do you think it's gonna happen? We should actually ask listeners, do you want this to happen? Yes? Right into us. We lost the good timing the time anymore but at least will be funny and like, I think it's so cute. This is really good publicity. Thank you Jojo for saying that, because okay, you guys, full disclosure moment here, we're letting you into our bachelorette group group chat. We created a video in May, right May. But then, as you know, a lot has happened. Well really, we started in eight eight I think it was after my birthday, but so much right when everyone was so bored and quarantine. It was so and this was like something that was going around, so it was very timely at the moment. But then as you you guys know, a lot has happened in the world. There's a lot going on, and so we wanted to be sensitive to everything that was happening, so we just kept pushing it back. Now I feel like we can so bachelor happy our listeners. If you think we should release the video, you know we'll. We'll put up something on our page and just flood our dms too, and then we hype it up that much. I don't even know for real. Let me, people are going to see it and be like, this is what they were raving about, And like you said, I mean Clare season starts in two weeks. It's gonna be two weeks. I mean, I think we can do it. They're gonna be like, who are these old maids trying to be trying to lease yecial media hip? Oh my god, are all news? Well, if you if, if you guys want to see it, let us know it is out there. It is good content. At least it was five six months ago. We are so different, probably two Oh my gosh, crazy. Who knows what kind of wig I was wearing back in a right which, By the way, your hair right now is all thanks good is my favorite. Thank you. I've been getting compliments on it. I love it. I love it, I love it. I want it. Put it on me. Last question we ask, we ask everyone who comes through this about what's the best and the worst thing that has happen from being on the show. We call it the rose and the thorn. So, Joejoe, what is your rose from being affiliated with the franchise Bachelor Bachelorette And what's your thorn? Oh my gosh, I feel like there's been so many amazing things that has happened from the show. I mean, obviously, first getting to meet Jordan, and I have so many stories about boyfriends before him, and so obviously seeing him and meeting him and it changing my whole perspective on men and relationships in general. But also like it and you guys know, it gives you such an incredible platform to be able to do some of the things you love and share those things with people, and like, I just feel like, no matter what, and I tell people this, and people always ask, would you recommend going on the show? Whether you get sent home night one, whether you last for the whole time, whether you become the bachelorette, no matter what, it is such an incredible growing and learning experience, just taking the leap of face to put yourself out there to go want to show like this. For me, I was super stressed out. I'm nervous and anxious and didn't know at that time I wasn't I didn't have that much confidence. I was coming out of a bad relationship that it kind of knocked me down a little bit. So it was a big step to just take that leap and do it. So it has been a huge growing experience, learning experience. So many amazing things has come out of it. So it's hard for me to pick one. I said, I pick want to be Jordan and then thorn. I think with that, obviously you have a lot more eyes on you, and I feel like this probably began answer for a lot of people. But it's just the pressure of not letting people down, I think, And I think I've done a good job to not really care that much about negative things that people say, but I always do feel like I've been given this awesome platform and people enjoy following me that I feel like I need to make sure I don't let them down. And so that's just a little inner pressure that I think that I sometimes think about. But that's like the smallest thorn of all times, Like I don't this has been the greatest thing ever. I thought you were going to say, Chad, but well that's a different time. I was like, who, who's that? That's well, Joe, Joe, it was so good to talk with you. I'm actually going to text you after this. Well we'll continue, we'll continue the Batary group chat. But it was so good to see you. Thank you for making it with us. I'm sorry you had to leave your nephew early. Oh no, I love you guys. So good to see you. I'm glad that I got didn't do it. I didn't. Yeah, you're good at it at Oh gosh, I love you. I love you, thank you so much, thank you you will Bye bye, guys. She's so cute. I can't believe she's worked on that many house. That's exactly what I was about to say. I'm like, my gosh. When she kept going, she was like one two three. I thought she was five. She's like one two wow. And I mean, I gotta say, what's been so great about having past bachelorettes come on? It's like we even think we know them, and we don't, like, there's so much that you don't know. And just to hear Jojo say, because I speak about this like when I go to colleges, I talk about whose life are you living? And I wasn't bold enough to say, actually, that's not what I really want to do. I'm starting to have other interests and passions, and I just continued on a path that you know, I was into, but my heart wasn't fully into it. So I'm always impressed when people are like, no, I'm going to follow my passion. And then she was like, this is what I love and I'm going to figure it out and do it myself. That's so And she's so doubsided. I'm like, that is a big deal. I know it truly. It takes courage, that's the thing. It's like, it's so easy to go along this study route or routine, you know. And if her entire family was in medicine and we're nurses and doctors like to say, oh, that's not what's going to feel me. I'm gonna get burnt out. To recognize what could burn you out at that young of an age, I think is incredible. And yeah, she's just she's so inspiring everything, like everything she's working on, plus planning a wedding, you know, obviously filling in for Chris Harrison, she's not going on. So I am so happy we had her on. It was hard to get her on. I remember texting her a couple weeks I'll be like, hey, when can we have you? Yeah, and she was so busy. So it's I'm really really grateful she was able to join us soon. I am too, man, And I think the moral of the story of our our bachelorette tour are going down Bachelorette memory Lane, is that bachelorettes are pretty freaking awesome, right, It's awesome. You know, they're just not here to feel and how different, Like think of all different all of the girls that we've had on, Like everyone is working on such different projects and at different life stages that it's but every one of them. I feel like we could just shot with them for like way longer than we're allotted for the podcast. Yeah, there should be a book of bachelorettes. Like, I know, we have our bible that we give to bachelorettes. You know that we started with you. But I think it's something, honestly that we should tell our stories because people think they know us as just these bachelorettes and they're they're in this position to find love and pick men. But there's so much depth to who we are and what we were before the world knew us, and then what we've been able to do afterwards with our platforms. I'm telling you, franchise listen, n Zi King, Warner ABC, you're missing out here. There's something to be done. We could rule the world, guys, we already are. I actually had that conversation with my friend the other night. She's like, if they cut this out She's like, we don't need like women can rule the world. We can do Handmaid's Tale, but flip it and reverse it. We've seen this, We seen this, you saw wonder Woman. You saw what those Amazon women were doing before before our men came messed it up. That world looks awesome. Awesome, Hey, daydreaman daydreaman over here. No, it was so fun to have Jojo on and you guys, thank you for hanging out with us today and tuning in.
