<v Speaker 1>Lapstan Wrestling podcast. <v Speaker 2>Principal photography began in May of nineteen seventy seven. Could <v Speaker 2>not find exact dates, could not find much. Actually like <v Speaker 2>this was to me. It shows that there was so <v Speaker 2>little faith in this project that nobody fucking cared about it. <v Speaker 2>Nobody wrote anything about it. There was nothing there, not <v Speaker 2>even in variety, there was nothing, nothing about it. I've <v Speaker 2>never I've never seen this little amount of a dearth <v Speaker 2>of yep of like hype, yes, when it came down <v Speaker 2>to it, But I'm talking about in terms of production, <v Speaker 2>in terms of saying, hey, you know, we're gonna do <v Speaker 2>a fucking incredible haul. We got Bill Bixby, we got <v Speaker 2>Loo for rig Now it's gonna be huge. Nothing like that. <v Speaker 2>Although actually I should say when at this point, you know, <v Speaker 2>didn't have Lou yet. That came later, But I did, <v Speaker 2>you know, I did want to ask I want to <v Speaker 2>ask Ken Johnson a question, and I said, you know you, <v Speaker 2>I said, Ken, you clearly have disdain for comic books <v Speaker 2>and whatnot. And I get that, and I get you <v Speaker 2>had a particular vision as to how you want to <v Speaker 2>do this show, and you know, make it the least <v Speaker 2>bit comic bookie as possible, but I kind of tell <v Speaker 2>can you tell us? Please tell me? And Jack, was <v Speaker 2>there something else that made you want to do this pilot? <v Speaker 3>I talked to Frank and he agreed to let me <v Speaker 3>take a run at it this way. CBS had agreed <v Speaker 3>to order two movies, the one that would be a pilot, <v Speaker 3>which is the one we shot here, and then a <v Speaker 3>second one to sort of set up where we were <v Speaker 3>going with the series. So I agreed with Frank that <v Speaker 3>I would take on the Incredible HOWK pilot, but I <v Speaker 3>told him that I wanted something in return that would <v Speaker 3>be very different from the sort of larger than life <v Speaker 3>science fiction pieces that I had fallen into doing It <v Speaker 3>always amused me. I was trained in the classic theater <v Speaker 3>and in Shakespeare and Strenberg and Ibsen and Pinter, and <v Speaker 3>you know, you work on the six million dollar man, <v Speaker 3>you create look at those seventies close, and you create <v Speaker 3>a bionic woman, and you do the Incredible Hulk, and <v Speaker 3>pretty soon the die is cast and people think that's <v Speaker 3>all it is that you do. So I was anxious <v Speaker 3>to do something in return that would be different, and <v Speaker 3>we agreed to do a mini series based on Walter <v Speaker 3>Scott's Ivanhoe. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, people remember that to this day because you know, <v Speaker 4>you know why they remember it because it never got made. <v Speaker 4>Guess who got used, Kenny. Guess who got used Kenny. Yes, <v Speaker 4>the only thing people know about you is Kenny. Those <v Speaker 4>three fucking shows, Kenny, your sci fi shit. Nobody cares <v Speaker 4>about your classicalness whatever. Who's in his mind that he's <v Speaker 4>trying to impress from his his prior life by doing <v Speaker 4>an Ivanhoe mini series. God, there's some professor that he <v Speaker 4>never felt like gave him as just due or or or. <v Speaker 2>The thing is, there's there, there is some who like, <v Speaker 2>there are people who told him that you are this <v Speaker 2>kind of guy. Oh, you know you you're you're beyond <v Speaker 2>Hollywood fluff. You are such a you know, you're deeper. <v Speaker 2>Fuck yeah, a deeper filmmaker. I know he does. Someone <v Speaker 2>gast him up. Yeah, listen, don't Okay, I'm going to <v Speaker 2>tell you right now. I have no doubt that fucking <v Speaker 2>Ken Johnson in his childhood home had a box of <v Speaker 2>fucking comics underneath his bed. Okay, don't fucking tell me <v Speaker 2>he didn't, because he's a fucking liar. If he says that, <v Speaker 2>all right, don't fucking start New York Times service, the <v Speaker 2>news service, they did announce that Bill Bixley was coming <v Speaker 2>back to television on May twenty ninth, nineteen seventy seven. <v Speaker 2>Bill Bixby is coming back to the Tube agin as <v Speaker 2>comic book character to the Hulk, the one time quote <v Speaker 2>magician of TV is before the universal cameras for the <v Speaker 2>beginning of production for two for two hour movies in <v Speaker 2>which he'll be transformed when it comes when it becomes <v Speaker 2>time to set out against the forces of evil, from <v Speaker 2>a mild manner doctor to a towering giant who will <v Speaker 2>actually be portrayed by giant sized actor Richard Keel. Yes, <v Speaker 2>even in the newspapers, Richard Keel was announced to be <v Speaker 2>a never knew this, yeah only yeah, no, no, no <v Speaker 2>Igno or Bust. Nope, it was Richard Keel first or bust. <v Speaker 2>And actually, you know, there's one shot still of Keel <v Speaker 2>in the movie, one shot, but you wouldn't even know. Honestly, <v Speaker 2>it's a it's a it's an overhead shot and you know, <v Speaker 2>like the camera pulls up, it's a you know, you'd <v Speaker 2>never know, you'd never know, right, never never know, never know? <v Speaker 2>Uh ken Ken Another question, just Chris how did it <v Speaker 2>take you to film the pilot. <v Speaker 3>The entire pilot I believe was shot in about eighteen days, <v Speaker 3>which is incredibly fast for a pilot. Nowadays, a two <v Speaker 3>hour pilot, you know, we'll go to twenty five days <v Speaker 3>or more. But we didn't have that kind of time <v Speaker 3>or money. The budget on the picture was about a <v Speaker 3>million three million four which was you know, healthy at <v Speaker 3>the time twenty five years ago. Nowadays it would barely <v Speaker 3>pay for the craft service and the food at the <v Speaker 3>craft service table. But we were working within the you know, <v Speaker 3>the established rules of the studio at that time, and <v Speaker 3>the budget levels that they were comfortable with. Working with <v Speaker 3>my assistant director, Tom Blank and Ralph Saraego, the production manager, <v Speaker 3>I had put together a schedule that allowed us to <v Speaker 3>shoot what we needed to in the amount of time, <v Speaker 3>although there were a lot of tough days. I mean <v Speaker 3>this day, for example, it was like we shot eight <v Speaker 3>and three eighths pages, which included all of these scenes, <v Speaker 3>plus the shot that you've already seen of Vick's driving <v Speaker 3>in the rain and the poor man's process shot. It's called, <v Speaker 3>of course poor man's process because instead of driving with <v Speaker 3>a green screen or a big process rear projection screen <v Speaker 3>behind them. You just sort of turn the lights out <v Speaker 3>and wave lights at them and pour a rain on <v Speaker 3>them and hopefully that hopefully nobody notices. <v Speaker 2>But I kind of want to stop you for one second, okay, <v Speaker 2>just because I want to tell Jackson a why do <v Speaker 2>you know? Do you know we're talking about with the <v Speaker 2>poor man's process shot? <v Speaker 4>I kind of followed, Yeah, so he has a way <v Speaker 4>of making me non interested. <v Speaker 2>I know he really does. So usually it's a it's <v Speaker 2>a night if you have someone driving at night. Now, actually, <v Speaker 2>I want you to look. I want you to watch, <v Speaker 2>especially if you watch an older you know, movie from <v Speaker 2>the eighties or nineties or even before then, okay, or <v Speaker 2>a TV show. If you look at look at a show, <v Speaker 2>look at a scene where people are driving at night, <v Speaker 2>and I guarantee you more often than not, they're in <v Speaker 2>a studio and they're just using light techniques, lighting techniques <v Speaker 2>to kind of make it seem like they're moving. Like <v Speaker 2>there'll be a you know, to do to do overhead <v Speaker 2>street lights. They'll have like a light on a on <v Speaker 2>like a swivel and just keep rotating it around so <v Speaker 2>you see the light reflect off of the uh off <v Speaker 2>their faces or off that they'll even have I've done <v Speaker 2>this before. I've done it before, where you have you <v Speaker 2>basically create a fake uh uh like grill of a car, <v Speaker 2>and you put two giant flashlights for headlights, and you <v Speaker 2>kind of have it move around stuff behind it to <v Speaker 2>make it seem like there's a car moving there. And <v Speaker 2>you know, you add sound effects and specially that at <v Speaker 2>you put rain or whatever, and you can make it <v Speaker 2>look pretty convincing. All things considered, it is remarkable. But <v Speaker 2>I know he does just kind of want to. I'm <v Speaker 2>glad to know that's what that meant. I didn't really <v Speaker 2>know that. Yeah, but I know he's got ken. You <v Speaker 2>got more, I understand, Howard Schwartz, No, not that one. <v Speaker 2>Here we go, but we all do it. <v Speaker 3>The even big features with multimillion dollar budgets off and <v Speaker 3>we'll jump in and employ the poor man's process to <v Speaker 3>get it done as quickly and easily as possible. My <v Speaker 3>longtime attorney and dear friend, Charles Silverberg, was on the <v Speaker 3>set of Star Wars in England where one of his <v Speaker 3>clients was involved, and he was watching them do the <v Speaker 3>scene where ce Threepo was in pieces on the back <v Speaker 3>of the Wookie, and they had made this complicated radio <v Speaker 3>controlled rig to operate the arms of c Threepo so <v Speaker 3>that he could be motioning while he's being carried around <v Speaker 3>on the Wookie's back, and none of the radio control <v Speaker 3>stuff worked, and they ended up just doing it with <v Speaker 3>wires that went around to the front so that the <v Speaker 3>fellow playing the Wookie could move it. And Chuck so <v Speaker 3>he couldn't believe it, He said, a multimillion dollar project <v Speaker 3>and here it was with like spitting baling wire And <v Speaker 3>I said, Chuck, it's how we make movies. <v Speaker 4>Oh, man Land, is that plane make movies? <v Speaker 2>Indeed? <v Speaker 4>You know, I just have to say, did he mention <v Speaker 4>craft services because it's not about food? Did he mention <v Speaker 4>the way to think about how far a million goes? Yep, <v Speaker 4>in the context of food, because it's not all about <v Speaker 4>food as far as proving us right, I mean, at <v Speaker 4>this point, if you watch wb programming on like USA, <v Speaker 4>like snackdown, you will literally get interested. Did you say <v Speaker 4>snackdown or smacksmell, Well, it should be called snackdown because <v Speaker 4>you get ads. I mean, they're like little thirty second <v Speaker 4>vignettes of Bronze Stroman eating a Chicago dog. <v Speaker 2>You're gonna tell me one? <v Speaker 4>Well, yeah, for the sake of he advertised, Yeah, he <v Speaker 4>goes all around and eats shit, and that's the show. <v Speaker 4>Are gonna tell me it's about food. Get the fuck <v Speaker 4>out of here. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god, I fucking love it. Although I love <v Speaker 2>that he says he's not a sci fi nerd. He <v Speaker 2>fucking he doesn't call it chuwboc. He calls it a wookie. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, wooky, and Ivanhoe is kind of like the sci <v Speaker 4>fi nerd medieval predecessor, you know, just Renaissance fair kind <v Speaker 4>of shoot because you want to be a little careful, Ken, Ken, Ken, <v Speaker 4>you're a fucking comic nerd. Okay, man, you just don't <v Speaker 4>want to admit it. You're just are scared to admit it. <v Speaker 4>I don't know why you want to fight me about it. <v Speaker 2>I know, seriously, Ken, Who Who's Who's your cinematographer? By chance, <v Speaker 2>Howard Schwartz was my cinematographer on this. Howard had been <v Speaker 2>an assistant cameraman for Greg Toland on Magnificent Amberson's back <v Speaker 2>in the forties, and I had done a lot of <v Speaker 2>television and futures. <v Speaker 1>He did have gun will travel. <v Speaker 3>In the Blackman TV series and rich Man poor Man <v Speaker 3>and went on to do a Wolf and such after <v Speaker 3>this a pilot for me also called Cliffhangers, A wonderful <v Speaker 3>big close up here to draw us into this and <v Speaker 3>a little fast move into a two shot to emphasize <v Speaker 3>the that something's cooking here. Okay, Howard and I from <v Speaker 3>the beginning decided we wanted to have a feature of <v Speaker 3>theatrical look on this. We were using slight filtration, a <v Speaker 3>quarter double fog generally on most everything, and some nets <v Speaker 3>in front of the camera to just give some softness. <v Speaker 3>And there's a music here that takes us to commercial <v Speaker 3>if I've. <v Speaker 1>Ever heard one. <v Speaker 2>Now, as a director, Ken, how do you how do <v Speaker 2>you determine the shot you want to design? <v Speaker 3>As a director, I'm always trying to find the shot <v Speaker 3>that's going to enhance the scene. To me, it's very <v Speaker 3>important that we first determined what the point of the <v Speaker 3>scene is and then we figure out how we're going <v Speaker 3>to shoot it that's going to most emphasize that point. <v Speaker 1>It's it's very organic. <v Speaker 3>It comes, I suppose from my theatrical train that's to <v Speaker 3>Carnegie Mellon uh formerly Carnegie Tech No. One Mellon always <v Speaker 3>has to be like something to eat with pro shudo. <v Speaker 3>I haven't gotten quite used to that. <v Speaker 4>Okay, you want to fucking you want to take a <v Speaker 4>shot at me, You want to take a shot at winning? <v Speaker 2>You old with kend of Johnson. <v Speaker 4>You're gonna fucking do that after I decided you were <v Speaker 4>a douchebag. Oh god, we can talk. Oh by the way, <v Speaker 4>because it's not all about. <v Speaker 2>Food and Ken, just for just for the record, what <v Speaker 2>uh what's your favorite angle for the camera? <v Speaker 1>I tend to put the. <v Speaker 3>Camera a little bit low more often than not too <v Speaker 3>I think it makes for more interesting camera angles. <v Speaker 2>All right, interesting. <v Speaker 4>Interesting Mine was when the horseman locked Dusty in the <v Speaker 4>cage broke his mind's this. <v Speaker 1>This is an example of a Dutch angle. <v Speaker 3>Because of the canted angle of the camera, it remains <v Speaker 3>interesting to watch. <v Speaker 4>And somehow, somehow, Ken Johnson sounds a lot more legit <v Speaker 4>when he goes on and on about angles and that <v Speaker 4>guy did. <v Speaker 2>I can I one last question? So, I mean we <v Speaker 2>were talking about it here the Laps fan. We always <v Speaker 2>say it's all about food. So my question is when <v Speaker 2>it comes to food props used in your shows, such <v Speaker 2>as perhaps sandwiches, do you do you have any preferences <v Speaker 2>for that. <v Speaker 3>I always have them used for props sandwiches that I like. <v Speaker 3>I'm a big fan of turkey sandwiches on whole wheat. <v Speaker 3>I asked my dear friend Rick Denary, who was the <v Speaker 3>prop master on the piece, and Terry Adams, his assistant props. <v Speaker 1>I say, I think Bill would probably like a turkey <v Speaker 1>on wheat. <v Speaker 3>And they bring a couple of songs, so in any <v Speaker 3>of my films, whatever they're eating, you can figure that. <v Speaker 2>I you know, uh it. <v Speaker 1>At some point too, I was like. <v Speaker 4>I'm so glad because a minute ago, I was like, <v Speaker 4>do I really insist on bringing it back to his <v Speaker 4>remark about craft services? <v Speaker 5>Like? <v Speaker 2>It was like, you know, four minutes it passed, Do <v Speaker 2>I really fling it back? I was like, I was <v Speaker 2>like giggling. <v Speaker 3>And. <v Speaker 2>Play it again, play it again now. <v Speaker 3>I always have them used for props sandwiches that I like. <v Speaker 3>I'm a big fan of turkey sandwiches on whole wheat. <v Speaker 3>If I asked my dear friend Rick Denary, who was <v Speaker 3>the prop master on the piece, and Terry Adams his <v Speaker 3>assistant props, I said, he I think Bill would probably <v Speaker 3>like a turkey on wheat and they bring me a <v Speaker 3>couple extra ones. And so in any of my films, <v Speaker 3>whatever they're eating, you can figure that I, you know, <v Speaker 3>grabbed it at some point too. <v Speaker 4>I am just I am just blowing, right man. I <v Speaker 4>feel so vindicated. I feel so affirmed in this moment. <v Speaker 4>I mean, come on, boss. <v Speaker 2>To really bring the heat like that. <v Speaker 6>The fuck. <v Speaker 7>You know. <v Speaker 2>So, I'm sitting here, I'm sitting here, I'm walking, I'm <v Speaker 2>listening to this fucking commentary track all right as I'm <v Speaker 2>as I'm putting shit together, and then he then he <v Speaker 2>talks about Carnegie Mellon and he fucking says the pershudo saying. <v Speaker 2>And I was like, what the fuck, Like he actually <v Speaker 2>said that on a commentary track, and I was like, <v Speaker 2>oh my god, oh shit balls. <v Speaker 4>It's been a while since I got smacked in the <v Speaker 4>face like that on a podcast, oh my. And you <v Speaker 4>know interesting, I think the reason it's on my mind <v Speaker 4>is because, like we posted our show going to the <v Speaker 4>TD Garden for Johnson his last Boston resting appearance, and <v Speaker 4>we went to the Caloon afterwards, you know, because that's <v Speaker 4>where wrestlers go, but of course. <v Speaker 2>It's closed to the public. <v Speaker 4>It's like eleven thirty at night, and every other comment <v Speaker 4>on the episode is like, shit, they didn't go in <v Speaker 4>and get some food. <v Speaker 2>I want to. They just want us to eat the food. <v Speaker 2>They didn't care about John Seen, and they didn't care <v Speaker 2>that we're fucking there. They want to They want us <v Speaker 2>to do like a fucking food review. <v Speaker 4>Oh god, I know what, and you know what I <v Speaker 4>had done it if it was Ibens, for sure. But <v Speaker 4>that's it, man. People are there for the food. There <v Speaker 4>are food reactions, you know. That's like a whole industry <v Speaker 4>on on on Instagram now and take tik for sure. <v Speaker 4>It's look, folks, I mean every vacation you've had, you <v Speaker 4>remember the meals. The meals are the anchor to your day. <v Speaker 4>And if you choose wisely, it's a good day. If <v Speaker 4>you choose poorly, it's a bad day. You tell me, <v Speaker 4>it's not all about food. Come on, folks, and we're <v Speaker 4>a week away from from the sandwich. Dude, I just <v Speaker 4>thought about that today. I'm like thinking of my head. <v Speaker 4>When's the right time to ask them to lay it <v Speaker 4>all out. I'm just saying. The Survivors series live fall <v Speaker 4>here on Patreon. It's a Saturday after Thanksgiving Oh listen, <v Speaker 4>you're gonna all I'm saying, I guarantee you I'll be <v Speaker 4>at least two in by that point, two sandwiches in <v Speaker 4>at least and I think you might have to record <v Speaker 4>yourself sizzling. Oh yeah, some things too. I mean several <v Speaker 4>years ago we did it. We made it together. Well, <v Speaker 4>I watched you make it. <v Speaker 2>Was that before or after we fucking saw Undertaker's Dead <v Speaker 2>Man Bitch Show? <v Speaker 4>Oh, good question. I think it was just before we <v Speaker 4>took off for for that, for that, for that night. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, he was in you know he actually if <v Speaker 2>we if we ate beforehand, then he was in a <v Speaker 2>no win situation. No way, he was done downhill. Yep, <v Speaker 2>it's all downhill after that. H Okay. So now I <v Speaker 2>was thinking about Cranberry showing forth cranberry and and and <v Speaker 2>potato find its way down the stuffing exactly exactly what <v Speaker 2>that little bit of Manny's I'll tell you nothing. There's <v Speaker 2>something so magical about Manny's and a little bit of <v Speaker 2>a little bit of and and and cranberry sauce like <v Speaker 2>that sweet savory is just so. <v Speaker 4>I mean, it sounds like Ken Johnson would have been <v Speaker 4>a fan of the sand. <v Speaker 2>I think he would have been. He's there. I know, <v Speaker 2>he's almost I don't know, it's a whole wheat, but <v Speaker 2>you know, it's fine, whole wheat. But it's fine. It's fine, Kenny, <v Speaker 2>I understand. It's almost like I mean, we say say terrible. <v Speaker 2>That is how he says Hulk Hogan. True. Now, there <v Speaker 2>is a concern in regards to Farigno and actually in <v Speaker 2>regards to the Hulk as well. Overall, so including Richard <v Speaker 2>Keel making the Hulk green, because it's not like he's <v Speaker 2>in a costume and has to just have a green face. <v Speaker 2>He's gonna have a green body. You know, he's basically, <v Speaker 2>you know, in wrestling, he's in John Cena attire. Essentially, <v Speaker 2>you know, he's wearing you know, georts in some in <v Speaker 2>you know, you know, their their pants, their torn pants. <v Speaker 2>But essentially he's got as much bare skin as John <v Speaker 2>Cena does. And uh, you got to make that green. <v Speaker 2>And here's Kenny again. Ton even asked him this question. <v Speaker 2>This is Kenny talking about oh, you know, it's not <v Speaker 2>even that that whole thing. This is a different interview <v Speaker 2>him talking about the development of the look of the Hulk. <v Speaker 3>There was no green makeup available, and we finally found <v Speaker 3>some in Germany, and it was grease paint, as opposed <v Speaker 3>to the pancake makeup that people use most generally. <v Speaker 2>In grease and pancakes. <v Speaker 3>There we go film and television. The difference is that <v Speaker 3>grease paint is waterproof, which is nice if you happen <v Speaker 3>to be in the water, but it also is grease <v Speaker 3>and it comes off on everything. I have sweatshirts upstairs <v Speaker 3>that still have smudges of green where I bumped into <v Speaker 3>lou f Forarigno, you know, thirty years ago, and everybody <v Speaker 3>on the crew, I guarantee you has clothes that are <v Speaker 3>like that. And it was it was a nightmare because <v Speaker 3>Louis first had to get the prosthetic makeup put on <v Speaker 3>that was designed by Werner Kepler, and then he would <v Speaker 3>have to get the green makeup on top of that, <v Speaker 3>and then he would get you know, this wonderful wig <v Speaker 3>that we never never got right. I was always so <v Speaker 3>frustrated no matter what we do it and did, it <v Speaker 3>ended up looking like a fright wig. And then he <v Speaker 3>had to get the body makeup, which took two people <v Speaker 3>half an hour forty five minutes to put on every day, <v Speaker 3>and that long to take off, and he had to <v Speaker 3>be cleaned up between each between each take, and it <v Speaker 3>came off in his dressing room. His whole inside of <v Speaker 3>his motor home was completely covered in plastic because we <v Speaker 3>had to be able to hose it down every night <v Speaker 3>and start over. <v Speaker 2>The next day. That crazy, Yeah, that is just ending <v Speaker 2>a lot of work. It's a lot of work. And <v Speaker 2>here's Lou. This is Lou talking about what the process <v Speaker 2>was like for him. <v Speaker 8>No, it's about three hour. Makeup costs said that they <v Speaker 8>applied the forehead and nose, peet, they applied the grease <v Speaker 8>makeup and the face took an an hour and a <v Speaker 8>half and then the body took like another hour and <v Speaker 8>a half and you had to wig the eyes and teeth. <v Speaker 8>You talk about three to three and a half hours, <v Speaker 8>if not more. It took an hour to take it off, <v Speaker 8>and sometimes you have to take it off four o'clock <v Speaker 8>in the morning, sometimes six o'clock in the morning, some <v Speaker 8>time one o'clock in the morning, depends on the film <v Speaker 8>it's schedule. But you know when the makeup was completed. <v Speaker 8>I love three in the characterip, but to take it <v Speaker 8>off with the fun part because it was over It's <v Speaker 8>hard to stay in shape because I had a train <v Speaker 8>maybe after I fielm because sometime they be filming. I <v Speaker 8>told at fourteen hours, I would train maybe once or <v Speaker 8>twice a week, and on weekend I would definitely train <v Speaker 8>because I had the weekend off. I did most of <v Speaker 8>the sun myself. I would say ninety ninety eight percent <v Speaker 8>of the sun out there myself. It's hard to replace <v Speaker 8>me as a sunman because of my physique. <v Speaker 2>It was fun. <v Speaker 8>We're going through a window, I mean, jumping out of <v Speaker 8>you know, off scaffolds and everything, you know, sometimes could <v Speaker 8>be a little and the tracking. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, Vic Grimes there mentioned John Cen. I mean Hulk <v Speaker 4>is kind of closer to Scena than Hogan in some <v Speaker 4>ways because you've got jorts on. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, right exactly. <v Speaker 4>That's fascinating. And just to have so little in the <v Speaker 4>way of modern convenience when you have to sit there <v Speaker 4>for hours getting your name. You don't look at your phone, <v Speaker 4>there's no there's probably no television. Nope, you know, with <v Speaker 4>the signal hooked up, that's. <v Speaker 2>Probably have one event. We have a radio going. I <v Speaker 2>bet there's music playing, and that's not it. That's all <v Speaker 2>you get. <v Speaker 4>Oh, you're just sitting there for hours. <v Speaker 2>Awful. Yeah, I mean especially back then too, It's like <v Speaker 2>that's that's also you know, even back then it's you know, <v Speaker 2>that's even long too, like you know, you didn't have <v Speaker 2>that kind of process really to have that much on <v Speaker 2>a TV show, especially on a TV show of all things. <v Speaker 2>You know, it's great about it. <v Speaker 4>It's like everyone involved knows that if we're going to <v Speaker 4>do this, it's going to be a huge investment of <v Speaker 4>time and money, so we better make sure that the <v Speaker 4>costuming is worth it for the show, for the series, <v Speaker 4>for what we're trying. <v Speaker 2>To get across. <v Speaker 4>You can't you can't be frivolous about it. You can't <v Speaker 4>be you know, willy nilly about your special effects because <v Speaker 4>it took so much time and money. They better add <v Speaker 4>to the fucking production or it's wasted money. Whereas now <v Speaker 4>I feel like you can just take flyers on all <v Speaker 4>kinds of wacky shit in a movie and it's like, eh, <v Speaker 4>you know it was it was a good try to <v Speaker 4>make it more interesting visually. But if it doesn't work, <v Speaker 4>we didn't you know, with a I we probably a <v Speaker 4>single dime on it. <v Speaker 2>Sad exactly. <v Speaker 4>It used to mean something that when you watched a <v Speaker 4>show like this, you knew that Lou Forigno and reality <v Speaker 4>went through a hell of a lot yep, to look <v Speaker 4>like that. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, there's a there's, there's and there's and there's there <v Speaker 2>is something you know because it's because it's it's it's <v Speaker 2>it's a real person. It's not computer generating, right, it's tactile. <v Speaker 2>It's it's you know, there's and and that. Actually, it's <v Speaker 2>a great segue to the next thing that we're going <v Speaker 2>to talk about. Because there is no CGI. There is <v Speaker 2>no way to watch a Bill Bixby transform into uh <v Speaker 2>a loof Forigna without cutaways, without cutting into other things <v Speaker 2>and and trying to you have to create the idea <v Speaker 2>that he's changing because you can't physically show that he's <v Speaker 2>changing because there's analogies. Yeah, well, now you mean you <v Speaker 2>don't have to be creative about it at all. You <v Speaker 2>watch it. I mean you can watch you can see <v Speaker 2>the bones growing and stuff like that, all because of <v Speaker 2>the CGI and whatever great point any of the Marvel <v Speaker 2>movies you watch now, and I'm not trying to take <v Speaker 2>anything away from it. It's great that they can do that, <v Speaker 2>but it is it's a challenge. It's a challenge, and it's. <v Speaker 4>Just like what we say about used to be better <v Speaker 4>at wrestling. It's like, you don't blame people in the <v Speaker 4>modern day for doing it the way they do it. <v Speaker 4>It's just well, there was there was a lot of <v Speaker 4>merit behind the way it had to be done in <v Speaker 4>the past, not the way people chose to do it, <v Speaker 4>the way they it had to be done. Yes, exactly, <v Speaker 4>there's a lot lost when the performers don't have to <v Speaker 4>do that. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. And this is a clip of Ken Johnson on <v Speaker 2>the director's commentary talking about he's watching the first transition <v Speaker 2>and he's describing it as as it unfolds. <v Speaker 3>And now we meet our our big green guy for <v Speaker 3>the first time as he takes out his vengeance again. <v Speaker 3>Very noire is very dark. You have no idea how <v Speaker 3>hard it is to get a shot low looking up <v Speaker 3>when it's raining on you, because the water gets all <v Speaker 3>over the camera. <v Speaker 9>There are. <v Speaker 3>Lash guards that will knock the water off so that <v Speaker 3>you can get a shot like that. And Hanky and <v Speaker 3>the guys who of course had made lead fenders here <v Speaker 3>so that Louie could smash them without breaking his hands. <v Speaker 3>Lightweight tire here for nt a toss, although Luke probably <v Speaker 3>have tossed the real one. <v Speaker 1>At this point, lou was humongous. He was six foot four. <v Speaker 1>He weigh about two hundred and fifty pounds. <v Speaker 3>His biceps were twenty six inches around the largest arms <v Speaker 3>there little cut from the one side there. <v Speaker 4>Of course, what you tell me that didn't come from <v Speaker 4>the Hulk too, Kenny largest arms in the world. Yep, yeah, <v Speaker 4>I know Billy Graham used to say that, but maybe <v Speaker 4>he took it from Hulk too. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. Yeah, although twenty six inches, I don't know. I <v Speaker 2>don't think that was ever the case. I think, I <v Speaker 2>think I think Ken Johnson's also Ken. He he also <v Speaker 2>weighed more at the time. He Freignan says he weighed <v Speaker 2>like two seven at the time, not two fifty. I know, <v Speaker 2>I know for a normal person like Ken Johnson that <v Speaker 2>two fifty seems like a lot of weight, but not <v Speaker 2>for a wrestler or or a bodybuilder. And I think <v Speaker 2>his arm for twenty two inches, I think they were <v Speaker 2>twenty two, not twenty six. It could be wrong, but <v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure he says they were twenty two for <v Speaker 2>I always thought twenty four inch was what Hogan said <v Speaker 2>to make sure that no one right bigger right, because <v Speaker 2>I know that Forigno said like he he has said <v Speaker 2>like bullshit that he had bigger arms than I did, <v Speaker 2>although you know I never see them side by side, <v Speaker 2>so who knows, So who knows? Anyway, back to the <v Speaker 2>back to the transformation here off camera the act is wrong? <v Speaker 2>Thing there? Wait where was? Yeah, this glass. <v Speaker 1>Doesn't do that on a windshielded with the spider webs. <v Speaker 3>But one of the impacts coming through and again we've <v Speaker 3>rigged the car so that it could break down as <v Speaker 3>he smashed on the top of it with the lead <v Speaker 3>hood and a little help from special effects guys with <v Speaker 3>their air rams to turn this over, and they got <v Speaker 3>it balance so that Louie could pretty much do it himself. <v Speaker 3>Then we have fifteen gallons of gasoline going up here <v Speaker 3>Yankee set off boom. <v Speaker 1>Louis was not happy. He almost turned and ran. <v Speaker 2>I'm amazed that he didn't. <v Speaker 3>This is a huge fireball and I know for those <v Speaker 3>of you who probably have not been around such explosions, <v Speaker 3>they are really hot and although they dissipate quickly, I mean, <v Speaker 3>Louis afterwards said Kenny, whoa, he almost fried. <v Speaker 2>Me here tremendous. <v Speaker 4>Hey for a guy who's kinda eh on doing this, <v Speaker 4>he'sood a pretty good job following it in right. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. He seems to really enjoy it when he's when <v Speaker 2>he's fucking yeah, get into it, makes you, makes you wonder, makes. <v Speaker 4>You man't want to give you don't get the wrong idea. <v Speaker 2>But right yeah, the uh oh shit, there was something <v Speaker 2>in there too, I just I thought of and I've <v Speaker 2>forgotten right now, he said, rig well was it? Oh? <v Speaker 2>I know so, because uh there there there as When <v Speaker 2>the show went to series, especially there there was a <v Speaker 2>rule that he could only change into the Hulk twice <v Speaker 2>because the whole process of doing it was so expensive. <v Speaker 2>But they that they couldn't afford to do there you go, <v Speaker 2>more changes into the Hulk because it costs so much money. <v Speaker 2>It made it. <v Speaker 4>They made it count every time exactly. That's kind of <v Speaker 4>what I'm saying. <v Speaker 2>Yep, yep, And that's kind of good because it's like, <v Speaker 2>then you know, you're not just going to see him <v Speaker 2>at the end of the show. You're gonna you might <v Speaker 2>you'll see the Hulk earlier on as well, Like you know, <v Speaker 2>you get two Hulks within your forty five minute episode. Right, <v Speaker 2>It's like an ideally formatted version of raw. You get <v Speaker 2>exactly exactly. <v Speaker 4>The main event comes out first, then comes out at <v Speaker 4>the end. <v Speaker 2>Yep. Now, despite not actually you know, playing the Hulk, <v Speaker 2>you know, according to his ana biography and going to <v Speaker 2>other sources as well well, Uh, Bill Bixby was known <v Speaker 2>for having a bit of a temper on site at times. <v Speaker 10>Off camera, the actor's intensity sometimes rivaled that of the Hulk. <v Speaker 10>The pressures of carrying a weekly series and meeting his <v Speaker 10>own high standards could be an explosive combination. <v Speaker 3>Bill was very mercurial, and he could be incredibly manic <v Speaker 3>and right in your face, you know. I mean Bill <v Speaker 3>and I had nose to those confrontations a lot of <v Speaker 3>the time, and and and that was Bill's way with <v Speaker 3>a lot of people. <v Speaker 1>He'd just get right in, literally right in your face. <v Speaker 1>And uh, and the. <v Speaker 8>A couple of times on the set if I was late, <v Speaker 8>I remember that look he gave me. Oh boy, do <v Speaker 8>you ready thought she would be the Hulk? <v Speaker 2>Even saying it, even Fregno's scared of him. Fucking hell. Okay, <v Speaker 2>that's where we're talking. <v Speaker 4>There was a darkness here, Yes, Billy. <v Speaker 2>Talk a little bit more about it, Bill, hmm. Then <v Speaker 2>you know there's also the voice of the Hulk, because <v Speaker 2>despite the fact that Farigno wanted to do it, he <v Speaker 2>did not do the voice of the Hulk. He had <v Speaker 2>there's somebody else who did it. This is from You <v Speaker 2>Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry, a Hulk companion book. <v Speaker 2>The Hulk's growling is provided by Ted Cassidy, the tall <v Speaker 2>six foot nine inch actor who played Lurch the butler <v Speaker 2>on the popular sitcom The Adams Family. Cassidy is also <v Speaker 2>the Incredible Hulk shows narrator, doing the iconic opening introduction <v Speaker 2>when it became a weekly series. At the same time <v Speaker 2>he was doing the opening narration and roaring for The <v Speaker 2>Incredible Hulk. Ted Cassidy also used his deep baritone voice <v Speaker 2>for the animated Thing on Marvel's New Fantastic four cartoon <v Speaker 2>and the radioactive reptile Godzilla on The Godzilla Power Hour. <v Speaker 2>When Ted Cassidy passed away during the show's second season, <v Speaker 2>Kenneth Johnson recruited Free Hulk guest Charles Napier to provide <v Speaker 2>the sounds of the Hulk's angry outbursts. Napier, a handsome, <v Speaker 2>tough Guy is a popular character actor, best known as <v Speaker 2>the leader of the Good Old Boys and the Blues Brothers, <v Speaker 2>and the unfortunate cop who becomes Doctor Lector's goorious victim. <v Speaker 2>In Sounds of the Lambs, Napier did an impressive job <v Speaker 2>with the Hulk's inarticulate raging quote. Both Ted and Charlie <v Speaker 2>have these great this is Johnson, Ken Johnson. Both Ted <v Speaker 2>and Charlie have these great deep voices, so deep they <v Speaker 2>sound like they come straight from the center of the earth. <v Speaker 2>The producer praises, you start with those amazing voices and <v Speaker 2>then pitch it lower in post so they just sound inhuman. <v Speaker 2>Ted also did such a great job with that introductory <v Speaker 2>narration that whole doctor David Benner physician, scientists searching for <v Speaker 2>a way to tap into the hidden strengths that all <v Speaker 2>humans have opening. I saw no reason to change it <v Speaker 2>when we lost him. It seemed a nice tribute to <v Speaker 2>him to keep it on as it was. Charles Napier, <v Speaker 2>who had been on the show a couple of times, <v Speaker 2>also had a great deep voice. Charlie was doing an <v Speaker 2>episode sounded really good, and he came in to do <v Speaker 2>Hulk's growls. Charles was great at doing Hulk's voice, and <v Speaker 2>he was always a good guest on the show. Even <v Speaker 2>then I would pitch his growls down so they didn't <v Speaker 2>sound human. They were both great guys to work with. <v Speaker 2>Napier was amused to be the Hulk. Quote quote, it <v Speaker 2>was funny when people ask I tell him, yep, I <v Speaker 2>was the voice of the Hulk. Laughs. Charles Napier. Ted <v Speaker 2>Cassidy did it for the first season, and when Ted died, <v Speaker 2>Nicholas Carea brought me in. Nick was a friend of <v Speaker 2>mine and he was producing the show. So Nick called <v Speaker 2>me up one day and then asks can you growl? <v Speaker 2>I said, what the hell are you talking about? Nick? <v Speaker 2>And he explains to me that we lost Ted Cassidy <v Speaker 2>the other day and I heard your voice and I <v Speaker 2>thought you might be able to do the voice of <v Speaker 2>the Hulk. I said, oh, hell, I guess I can growl. <v Speaker 2>I growled for him, and I got the job to <v Speaker 2>voice the Hulk. I would look at the screen and <v Speaker 2>follow for Rigno's expressions, some deep breathing as well as <v Speaker 2>growls when he got mad, like raw stuff like that. <v Speaker 2>I did that for four years. Eventually he got screen <v Speaker 2>credit quote, Oh yeah, you better believe it. Napier grins. <v Speaker 2>We argued over that. I said, that's acting. It's the <v Speaker 2>way that the Hulk talks. It was hard to do <v Speaker 2>because when you growled for the Hulk, you had to <v Speaker 2>do it for fifteen minutes at a stretch. I thought <v Speaker 2>they would have to carry me out in a gurney <v Speaker 2>when I did it the first time. It definitely took <v Speaker 2>a lot out of you. His secret for the Hulk's <v Speaker 2>guttural howls and growls quote. At the time, I was <v Speaker 2>a smoker, so that made it easy. I've given up <v Speaker 2>smoking since Napier ads, but I can still do the <v Speaker 2>Hulk because of Hulk's voice and other sound effects. It <v Speaker 2>took fourteen days, well fourteen days to dub The Incredible <v Speaker 2>Hulk pilot movie, just the movie. It's crazy. <v Speaker 9>Now. <v Speaker 2>After the show went to series and became popular, they <v Speaker 2>had a guest come on the show to go behind <v Speaker 2>the scenes. And do you know who that guest was? No, <v Speaker 2>Fred Rogers. Wow, mister Rogers, so we are going to watch, <v Speaker 2>Yes we are, mister Rogers visit the set of The <v Speaker 2>Incredible Hulk to get a behind the scenes look, A <v Speaker 2>very unique behind the scenes look of the show. Do <v Speaker 2>you have my screen? All right? And here we. <v Speaker 11>Go, Hello missus. Mcpheeley, it's Fred Rogers here. Yes, I'm <v Speaker 11>about ready to go to the to the movie studios. <v Speaker 2>Barnett. <v Speaker 12>You know who he is. You know who the Incredible <v Speaker 12>Hulk is, right, that's Lufigno. <v Speaker 1>And there he is. <v Speaker 6>That's what he looks like. <v Speaker 12>I think a lot of you have seen The Incredible <v Speaker 12>Hulk in Our daughter was about three four five years <v Speaker 12>old and it was on late at night, about eight <v Speaker 12>thirty past turn bet. She was supposed to be going <v Speaker 12>to bed and instead she was watching The Incredible Hulk. <v Speaker 12>She'd turn the TV set on and that just happened <v Speaker 12>to be there. And the Incredible Hulk. The storyline is <v Speaker 12>that he's a mild mannered man. When he gets mad, <v Speaker 12>he bursts into the Incredible Hulk. So that was Lou <v Speaker 12>Forigno who played that part. She had nightmares our daughter <v Speaker 12>after seeing that. So I thought maybe we can call <v Speaker 12>Universal Studios and find out if we could come and <v Speaker 12>interview Lou Farigno and Bill Bixby while they were making <v Speaker 12>The Incredible Hulk. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, hey, how you doing? <v Speaker 13>Thank you? <v Speaker 2>How's a doing good? <v Speaker 3>Thank you? <v Speaker 11>Giving me, all right, if I watched Sure, I'm mister <v Speaker 11>McFee today taking movies of your. <v Speaker 2>God the progress, believe it. <v Speaker 12>And we worked it out and and we showed children <v Speaker 12>that pretend, you know, Liufing, We showed him getting into <v Speaker 12>his makeup. They put green makeup all over them, and <v Speaker 12>they put green contact lenses in his eyes, and they <v Speaker 12>had a green fright wig on. <v Speaker 11>Well, that's the way it is with all those superheroes <v Speaker 11>and monsters and things on television. In the movie, right, <v Speaker 11>they're just pictures or somebody dressed up in a costume. <v Speaker 11>They're not real, but they often look real. <v Speaker 12>We were showing children that this was pretend. You know, <v Speaker 12>a lot of children even that Halloween, are afraid of Halloween. <v Speaker 12>They're afraid of witches, they're they're afraid of monsters. They <v Speaker 12>don't realize that it's a costume. And that was the <v Speaker 12>purpose to show that Louffigno on Me Incredible Hulk as <v Speaker 12>the Incredible Hulk is an actor pretending just like you <v Speaker 12>would do it Halloween. <v Speaker 11>But I was glad to show my television friends that <v Speaker 11>because it's important to realize that people just don't change <v Speaker 11>shape and change color. That's all just sort of movie business. <v Speaker 12>So that's the reason wether we had Lou Forigno on <v Speaker 12>the program. <v Speaker 14>This is about twelve hours later after a long day, <v Speaker 14>and here it comes the weak it's coming off. Now <v Speaker 14>he takes the forehead off and just pull dread off. <v Speaker 2>Does that hurt? <v Speaker 15>Well, it looks like it does, but he's just glad <v Speaker 15>to get it off, I would imagine. So that's the forehead, <v Speaker 15>he says, it comes to nose. <v Speaker 2>Imagine his work all part. <v Speaker 14>And here's some special solution that takes the green makeup off. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, you have the whole that fucking shit to take <v Speaker 2>that that grease paint off. That's a great look at <v Speaker 2>it too. Yeah yep. <v Speaker 4>And and look if there's any doubt where he gets <v Speaker 4>tearing the shirt from and having the rips on the <v Speaker 4>back of his shirt. <v Speaker 2>I mean, it's like it's all there, it's all there. <v Speaker 2>It's all there. So come the fall, Come the Fall. <v Speaker 2>Everybody is you know, it's now now they're hyping it up. <v Speaker 2>Now they want people to watch. Now they're talking about it, <v Speaker 2>and now everything's okay. It's all over the newspapers. They're <v Speaker 2>also talking about another Marvel series because they were also <v Speaker 2>doing spider Man The Incredible Spider Man Live Action TV series, <v Speaker 2>which is absolutely atrocious if you've ever seen it, and <v Speaker 2>I used to watch it as a kid, I saw <v Speaker 2>I had like video, I had the VHS ones of it, <v Speaker 2>clamshell type VHS box of yep, and it's just like <v Speaker 2>it's just it's just horrendous, just absolutely horrendous. The Amazing <v Speaker 2>Spider Man Yep, yep, yep. Because he's like also like <v Speaker 2>he's like thirty, like Peter Parker's like thirty years old. <v Speaker 2>And it was like, what doesn't worry? Why are you <v Speaker 2>doing that? They can't do that. That's fucking ridiculous. But <v Speaker 2>here this is a TV promo for the show I <v Speaker 2>thought would be interesting. <v Speaker 5>I'm hearing Friday after wonder Woman, it's the all new <v Speaker 5>Incredible Hulk. Radiation experiment has unleased the Mutation, turning David <v Speaker 5>Benner into a superhuman beast whenever he becomes angered. <v Speaker 16>Jill Bixby stars. <v Speaker 5>In The Incredible Hulk, Remembering Friday at nine eight Central and. <v Speaker 2>Hod watch oh yeah, fucking watch yeah, and uh yeah <v Speaker 2>it was. The Incredible Hulk premiered on CBS November fourth, <v Speaker 2>nineteen seventy seven, at eight pm. Uh. It ranked number <v Speaker 2>thirty four in the weekly ratings, the old one. I <v Speaker 2>thought I had put down the actual rating. I'm pretty <v Speaker 2>sure I I found the actual rating. M Now I <v Speaker 2>need to find it because must know, we must know. <v Speaker 2>Nineteen seventy seven Spider Man does not look good. Oh <v Speaker 2>it's awful. Look the costume is atrocious. It's just a no, <v Speaker 2>that's that's what I mean. It's just a fucking shit show. <v Speaker 2>It's just an absolute, absolute disaster. <v Speaker 4>Is posing in front of the twin towers. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm right right, I don't know. I thought it <v Speaker 2>was well either way. It did very well. I did <v Speaker 2>very well. I do have numbers for later seasons coming up. <v Speaker 2>But this is but like I said before, it wasn't <v Speaker 2>It didn't go right to series, all right. There was <v Speaker 2>another TV movie that they had made or that they <v Speaker 2>were making, that would air a few weeks later that <v Speaker 2>would kind of push it over the edge. This is <v Speaker 2>again we're going to turn to You wouldn't like me <v Speaker 2>when I'm angry. The Incredible Hulk pilot garnered huge ratings, <v Speaker 2>but did not immediately go into a television series. A <v Speaker 2>TV movie sequel had already been commissioned. Quote. We did <v Speaker 2>that because Bud Grant, who was running CBS at the time, <v Speaker 2>didn't think Hulk could make a series. Johnson says it <v Speaker 2>actually took several meetings before we convinced him that an <v Speaker 2>ongoing series would have Before we convinced him that an <v Speaker 2>ongoing series would have any potential. I agree to do <v Speaker 2>two movies, one of which would be the Genesis of <v Speaker 2>the Hulk, and the other would show what an episode <v Speaker 2>of the ongoing series would be like. Nineteen seventies television <v Speaker 2>was not a conducive time or place for colicbook superheroes. <v Speaker 2>The biggest genre TV hit of the seventies was The <v Speaker 2>six Million Dollar Man, which emphasized that a superhero did <v Speaker 2>not need a spandex costume, but merely a track suit <v Speaker 2>to thwart evil. This was probably a reaction against the <v Speaker 2>Adam West Batman TV show of the nineteen sixties, which <v Speaker 2>embraced the character's costume culture with a vengeance. In the seventies, <v Speaker 2>TV producers shied away from a superhero's look in the <v Speaker 2>comics lest they be accused of camp even a premise <v Speaker 2>that should have lent itself to a fantastic situations like <v Speaker 2>The Man from Atlantis spent most of their episodes with <v Speaker 2>Patrick Duffy in a man Fish as a man fish <v Speaker 2>from the fabled city wandering around Los Angeles in a windbreaker. Ghosts, monsters, <v Speaker 2>and robots weren't used until these shows were in dire <v Speaker 2>ratings trouble and about to be canceled. Then and only <v Speaker 2>then would they give viewers these fantastic elements. Of course, <v Speaker 2>they would desperately go overboard with the fantasy after spending <v Speaker 2>most of a series only grudgingly giving viewers what they wanted. <v Speaker 2>The networks even took characters famous for their costumes, like <v Speaker 2>Captain America and Doctor Strange, and stuck them in jeans, <v Speaker 2>muscle shirts, or a seventies leisure suit, using whatever costume <v Speaker 2>the characters had in the comics only sparingly. Captain America's <v Speaker 2>mask was reduced to a half assed motorcycle helmet that <v Speaker 2>showed his face. Look that up. Look up nineteen seventies <v Speaker 2>Captain America TV movie. Oh sure, yeah, look it up, <v Speaker 2>because it's absolutely atrocious what they do. It's absolutely gross. <v Speaker 4>Oh my god, Like seriously, he just has like bomber <v Speaker 4>glasses on under it there it's open. <v Speaker 2>Right, Like, why would you, Like, it's not even it <v Speaker 2>doesn't even look like an idiot. It's so stupid, Like <v Speaker 2>this is I mean, he looks like a stunt guy. <v Speaker 2>He looks like fucking he does like Morana's and goes <v Speaker 2>as baseballs baseball. Yeah, like what, like what a fucking idiot? <v Speaker 2>Like this guy's gonna say the day he's a fucking moron, <v Speaker 2>Like shoot him like evil evil, Yeah, exactly, That's what <v Speaker 2>I was thinking of. That's what I was trying to <v Speaker 2>think of. Evil evil. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, Like, my god, this what a joke. Yeah, what <v Speaker 4>a difference it makes to not have eye holes right <v Speaker 4>in the Captain American mass doesn't have them. <v Speaker 2>And to like wear a cap instead of a fucking <v Speaker 2>giant Like, what are you thinking? We're in a motorcycle helmet. <v Speaker 2>Look at a fucking doufish mushroom on your head. You <v Speaker 2>look like Toadstool from fucking Super Mario Brothers. You know, idiots. Ironically, <v Speaker 2>Wonder Woman, the only comic book character done faithfully on <v Speaker 2>TV at the time, in her tiara, bulletproof bracelets and <v Speaker 2>full red, white and blue garb lasso and invisible plane, <v Speaker 2>was an immediate hit. Hulk didn't need a costume as <v Speaker 2>his green skin and shredded clothes basically function as his <v Speaker 2>quote uniform, taking lively interesting comic book comic book characters, <v Speaker 2>tripping them of their quirks, and putting them into routine <v Speaker 2>crime shows where their personalities were muted. Supervillains were banned, <v Speaker 2>and most of the situations were one of the mill. Terrorists, gangsters, <v Speaker 2>or muggers all but doomed. The TV superheroes who showed <v Speaker 2>up in the post Star Wars boom boomtown of late <v Speaker 2>nineteen seventies network TV. The Amazing Spider Man, which debuted <v Speaker 2>on CBS the same time as The Incredible Hulk, was <v Speaker 2>neither Amazing nor spider Man. The character lost his woody, <v Speaker 2>acerbic personality and spent most of his time battling the <v Speaker 2>usual kidnappers and robbers, even getting into car chases, chases <v Speaker 2>that any TV detective could handle. He hardly ever, wore <v Speaker 2>the red blue tights and masks that he is best <v Speaker 2>known for. The uh you shoot. Actually, even while we're <v Speaker 2>talking about it, watch the the opening credits. Just watch <v Speaker 2>it because it's of Captain America or the Amazing Spider <v Speaker 2>Man from the Seven from seven. Yeah, yeah, okay, because <v Speaker 2>it's because I remember, like watching him crawl is just <v Speaker 2>like it's it's a joke. It's an absolute joke. Oh really, <v Speaker 2>all let's see, yeah. <v Speaker 4>Kind of I've seen this. Oh my god, looks hard. <v Speaker 4>Looks like a mockery of Spider Man. Yeah, right, it <v Speaker 4>looks like the climb, right, I mean it looks like <v Speaker 4>it looks like Spider Man in Times Square, you know, <v Speaker 4>or in Hollywood Boulevard. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it does. <v Speaker 4>Looks like a guy dressed up like Spider Man for right, <v Speaker 4>for trying to take your money to take pictures with kids. <v Speaker 2>This is awful, rotten, so bad, starring Nicholas Hammond as <v Speaker 2>Spider Man. <v Speaker 4>And a man on the phone, Robert Simon another woman <v Speaker 4>on the phone, Jim Fields. Name name name name, damey, <v Speaker 4>dame name me, dame name me, dame name name name Dane. <v Speaker 2>Who am Is that him on the fucking building? Oh <v Speaker 2>my god? I mean also, like that's the thing. He's <v Speaker 2>so so looking at it. He's like like looking around me. <v Speaker 2>You can't fucking see, you know, like that fucking outfit, <v Speaker 2>Like how slow he's timing on the on the on <v Speaker 2>the It's such a joke, Like it's so awful, those <v Speaker 2>seventies is what they had to do. Man, I know, <v Speaker 2>I get it, I get it, but man, it's just <v Speaker 2>like it's so poorly done. <v Speaker 4>But it does make the Hulk with freak now much <v Speaker 4>more impressive. <v Speaker 2>It does, it absolutely does, no question, no question. And <v Speaker 2>when we go back to the uh uh here or <v Speaker 2>was I Robert uh? The Incredible Hulk was different from <v Speaker 2>all those loud, stupid shows they say stupid in the book, <v Speaker 2>A quiet, sensitive and thoughtful series. It still managed to <v Speaker 2>deliver action adventure. What made Hulk stand out is the <v Speaker 2>way Kenneth Johnson took the premise seriously. He tried to <v Speaker 2>inject an earnest realism into the amazing concept in the <v Speaker 2>excuse Me, in the pilot and earliest episodes. What he <v Speaker 2>changes back from the Hulk. David Banner is always exhausted, confused, <v Speaker 2>dehydrated and quite thirsty. He hasn't neverdundant. If you're dehydrated, <v Speaker 2>aren't you quite thirsty? Pretty much? Yeah? <v Speaker 3>So was. <v Speaker 2>Roller. I know you remember, just you knew he always <v Speaker 2>had a six pack, the ice in the lock. You're <v Speaker 2>damn fucking right, and you just remember, you know, you knew, <v Speaker 2>you knew he had you knew he was working hard <v Speaker 2>when his scullet was just drenched. <v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, we all know the texture of the hair <v Speaker 4>when Hulk is it monarios at peak exertion. Yeah yeah, <v Speaker 4>if it's still if it's still fluffy and dry, he's <v Speaker 4>not working hard, that's right. <v Speaker 2>Uh. I keep losing my spot here, as you imagine <v Speaker 2>one would be after gaining and dropping that much body mass. <v Speaker 2>His feelings of guilt and remorse after changing back to <v Speaker 2>human are also realistic. When Banner changes back after his <v Speaker 2>first line out as the Hulk, he mournfully says, oh <v Speaker 2>my god, my god. Little touches like this helped sell <v Speaker 2>the premise to the viewing audience. The pilot was actually <v Speaker 2>released as a movie in Europe. When it where it <v Speaker 2>became an immediate hit in cinema, so it was released <v Speaker 2>theatrically like Twin Peaks. Was wow. Quote that was amazing. <v Speaker 2>Kenneth Johnson chuckles. My first Hulk was actually released in <v Speaker 2>overseas movie theater and became the top grossing film for <v Speaker 2>two months in France. Universal made a potful of money <v Speaker 2>from that, about seven or eight million dollars. A year later, <v Speaker 2>I got a really peculiar check from the studio. I asked, <v Speaker 2>what's it for? They said, that's your share of the <v Speaker 2>profits from The Incredible Hulk's European theatrical release. My share <v Speaker 2>of the eight million dollars was six dollars and forty cents. Wow, <v Speaker 2>damn fucking rish exactly now? How was it received? How <v Speaker 2>was Incredible Hulk Pilot received when it aired? This is <v Speaker 2>the La Times. They said, The Incredible Hulk is incredible, alright, <v Speaker 2>but that doesn't mean it isn't also lots of fun <v Speaker 2>and even poignant. Besides, wisely, Johnson has played everything absolutely straight, <v Speaker 2>which makes various moments of unintended humor all the funnier, <v Speaker 2>but also gives you this universal TV film a serious <v Speaker 2>enough tone to keep it from sliding into outright camp. <v Speaker 4>Wow, this thing has taken a lot more seriously than <v Speaker 4>I realized. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, it really was. It really was, to be sure, <v Speaker 2>our first side of Farigno, who has been given besides <v Speaker 2>a green tinge a grotesque Neanderthal visage, is hilarious, as <v Speaker 2>are various bits of dialogue, such as Miss Sullivan's remark <v Speaker 2>to the raging Farigno, just let me get a blood sample. <v Speaker 2>It won't hurt you. However, despite such lapses which brother <v Speaker 2>which after all, only add to the fun, The Incredible <v Speaker 2>Hulk has been painstakingly crafted and effectively invokes primordial motifs <v Speaker 2>from Frankenstein, Doctor Jacklin, mister Hyde, and King Kong. Actors <v Speaker 2>never get prizes for performances and shows like this, but <v Speaker 2>Bixby and Miss Sullivan, a witty, elegant beauty who reminds <v Speaker 2>one of Lauren McCall, are certainly deserving of accolades. The Bloomington, <v Speaker 2>Indiana Herald Times said, The Incredible Hulk is a very <v Speaker 2>good film. Forget the title, which makes it sound like <v Speaker 2>a comic strip, even if it is based on a <v Speaker 2>very popular comic book character. What it is is a <v Speaker 2>classic horror story, written, produced, in directed by Kenneth Johnson. <v Speaker 2>He can be proud of this film. Wow. The Hartford Current, however, <v Speaker 2>not as not as a celebratory The Incredible Hulk, a <v Speaker 2>CBS special tonight, is an incredible dud, a Doctor Jekyl <v Speaker 2>and mister Hyde tale of monstrously boring and dreadful proportions. Wow. <v Speaker 2>No amount of ponderous quasi quote philosophizing about anger and <v Speaker 2>evil could possibly save this piece of junk from Going <v Speaker 2>Down the Drain, Hulk, Bulk, Bilge and all. Although maimed <v Speaker 2>by pretension and afflicted with a lead footed pace, the <v Speaker 2>two hour film deliberately avoids camping up any of its trite, <v Speaker 2>malformed plot line. If all this had been camped up, <v Speaker 2>it would have at least been deliberately amusing. As it is, though, <v Speaker 2>it's just ridiculous, pompous and a bore. Wow. Somebody should <v Speaker 2>have put the incredible Hulk out of its misery long <v Speaker 2>before it hits the screen to night at eight on <v Speaker 2>WFSBTV Channel three. Damn, don't let Ken sy that one. <v Speaker 2>Seriously fucking hard. I'm going to do Ivan Hoe. I <v Speaker 2>hope you know that. Yeah, fuck that not in Hardford, <v Speaker 2>your aint. The Kurant is going to fucking take you <v Speaker 2>to town. Motherfucker ivan Hoe. Take the Ivan out and <v Speaker 2>you get my exact opinion of Ken Johnson. So the <v Speaker 2>second movie. The second TV movie aired November twenty eighth, <v Speaker 2>nineteen seventy seven, So just a few weeks. Three weeks <v Speaker 2>after equally successful as the pilot, very very very you know, <v Speaker 2>well received and watched, so CBS commissioned a ten episode <v Speaker 2>first season, which started airing in March of nineteen seventy eight, <v Speaker 2>continued through the end of May. The first season averaged <v Speaker 2>a twenty point four rating, ranking twenty sixth for the year, <v Speaker 2>which is pretty remarkable, I think for a you know, <v Speaker 2>basically a live action cartoon, adult cartoon, you know, season <v Speaker 2>two average. They then season two, season three, and seven <v Speaker 2>season four all had your typical twenty twenty two to <v Speaker 2>twenty you know episode seasons, and so seven two average <v Speaker 2>an eighteen rating ranged forty fourth, so it went down <v Speaker 2>a bit. Season three came back up a little bit <v Speaker 2>to number forty two, tying with the Waltons with an <v Speaker 2>eighteen point seven rating. Season four dipped to forty six, <v Speaker 2>tying with a Loha Paradise on ABC. I don't know <v Speaker 2>what the fuck that is, but that just sounded amazing <v Speaker 2>to me, with a seventeen point five rating. Then season <v Speaker 2>five jumped up to thirty five, but I couldn't, unfortunately <v Speaker 2>find the actual rating that it got. But it jumped <v Speaker 2>up to thirty five, which is a great way to <v Speaker 2>go out. Honestly, now, I think it's safe to say <v Speaker 2>that Hulk MAINI, as opposed to Hulkamania, was running wild. <v Speaker 2>The Hulk. Okay, the Hulk was actually featured in commercials. <v Speaker 2>All right, this is one for Sears. I'm going to <v Speaker 2>share my screen with you, yes, and we're going to watch. <v Speaker 2>We're going to watch this commercial of Sears featuring featuring <v Speaker 2>the Hulk thirty nine. Okay, and. <v Speaker 1>This Sears Flex flags make you look great no matter <v Speaker 1>who you are, day Flex. They then it's incredible and so. <v Speaker 3>Incredible this week. <v Speaker 4>Oh man, you're gonna do it, Timmy. So here we go. <v Speaker 4>When commercials were earnest, they tried to communicate good feeling <v Speaker 4>and not flipping with irony when they actually said, you <v Speaker 4>know what, even if the world isn't like this, our <v Speaker 4>ads can pretend it is. Exactly create an actual aspirational <v Speaker 4>consumer instead of a consumer that's just doubling down on. <v Speaker 2>Who they already are. Yep, exactly. Just terrific. <v Speaker 4>So they have a guy there in you know, businesswear, <v Speaker 4>and they're emphasizing how flexible and stretchable the clothing is <v Speaker 4>by having it rip apart, like you know, like the <v Speaker 4>Hulk with his green musculature. Yeah, it's it's spectacular and <v Speaker 4>it's not even like you know, they don't call out Hulk. <v Speaker 4>It's not like what it's the Incredible Hulk. He's just <v Speaker 4>subtly referenced in the in the ad. Yeah, because that's <v Speaker 4>how it's subtle begin my point. <v Speaker 2>No, but that's how that's how, that's how much the <v Speaker 2>Hulk was like in the culture, you know, right and <v Speaker 2>the uh So, the series was canceled after season five, <v Speaker 2>and at the time it held a fairly distinct record. <v Speaker 3>The Hull incidentally, was the longest running television series based <v Speaker 3>on a on a comic character, and I think it <v Speaker 3>had to do a lot with the fact that we <v Speaker 3>just played against that sort of comic book origin. <v Speaker 2>All the way. Yeah, I did. That was the longest <v Speaker 2>running comic book superhero TV series, which is impressive. And again, <v Speaker 2>you know, I can remember it as a kid, like <v Speaker 2>watching reruns on on on channels and stuff like that, <v Speaker 2>because it did go into syndication right after it was canceled. <v Speaker 2>They went into syndication, so it was always playing, which <v Speaker 2>is one of those things. Do you remember as a kid, <v Speaker 2>did you think that shows were still airing when you'd <v Speaker 2>see reruns, Like yes, because you didn't know any better <v Speaker 2>at the time, like you just see it. They could <v Speaker 2>tell if they came out at awkward times. Yeah, Like <v Speaker 2>I kind of figured if a show was on at <v Speaker 2>three thirty in the afternoon that it probably wasn't first run. <v Speaker 2>But but I figured what I always assumed was that <v Speaker 2>it wasn't like it was Yeah, yeah, it may not <v Speaker 2>be airing. It's like it's a brand new episode, but <v Speaker 2>if it's airing now, it's going to be a show <v Speaker 2>that's on the air. <v Speaker 4>Net on the air that there are new episodes right <v Speaker 4>in primetime and runs. <v Speaker 2>But there weren't, And in fact, the Hulk lay dormant <v Speaker 2>for six years until nineteen eighty eight, when a new <v Speaker 2>made for TV film, The Incredible Hulk Returns, Yes, debuted. <v Speaker 2>Now I want you to think about this timeline. Okay, <v Speaker 2>Season five of The Hulk of the Incredible Hulk TV <v Speaker 2>show ended in nineteen eighty two, before the rise of <v Speaker 2>Hulk Cogan. Then let's say that again the series ended. <v Speaker 2>So season five of the Incredible Hulk TV series ended <v Speaker 2>in nineteen eighty two, before the rise of Hulk Cogan. <v Speaker 2>Then The Incredible Hulk Returns movie premiere in nineteen eighty eight. Okay, <v Speaker 2>after like in the prime of Hulk Hogan's popularity. Yes, <v Speaker 2>now I have no hard evidence to prove that this <v Speaker 2>was the case that they revived it because of Hulk Hogan. <v Speaker 2>But I think of it like this, Oh interesting, But <v Speaker 2>I think of it like this, Who owns the Hulk <v Speaker 2>Hogan name? Right, Marvel? And they see, well, fuck, this <v Speaker 2>guy's getting used to Look at the time, look at <v Speaker 2>the timing. So Hogan becomes huge in eighty five right now, <v Speaker 2>it would take I mean, I don't know about TV <v Speaker 2>movie as much, but if it were a movie movie, <v Speaker 2>it would take three years to get a movie together. <v Speaker 2>And you have it, you know, get your group to, <v Speaker 2>get your creative team together, get a script written, get <v Speaker 2>it filmed, and get it edited to put it out <v Speaker 2>on TV. Again. Might be a little bit shorter with TV. <v Speaker 2>Might be a little bit, but still, like you got <v Speaker 2>to imagine in eighty five, someone in Marvel's gotta be thinking, <v Speaker 2>am I gonna be seeing thisself? Dude? Let's fucking let's <v Speaker 2>let's ride this wave here, we get Hult the Hulk, <v Speaker 2>we could bring the Hulk back. Hulk Hogan's based on <v Speaker 2>the Hulk. We own Hulk Hogan's name. Let's you know, <v Speaker 2>I think that there is definitely somebody who who who who? <v Speaker 2>Made that suggestion. Who was watching wrestling or at least <v Speaker 2>you know, got wind of pop culture and. <v Speaker 4>They had already and this is to come in the <v Speaker 4>complete Hulk Hogan of course worked out a deal where <v Speaker 4>you know, they were allowed to use the name, right is, <v Speaker 4>so long as they you know, shouted out, and so <v Speaker 4>she shared revenue with Marvel Comics, right exactly. So it <v Speaker 4>wasn't like it was some kind of you know, something <v Speaker 4>that had to be worked out, had already done worked <v Speaker 4>out at eventine in a way that could smooth it <v Speaker 4>and both ways. And again, I they and and I <v Speaker 4>imagine that they are like, let's just fucking milk this <v Speaker 4>because especially, you know, I mean at this point, Marvel <v Speaker 4>was pretty was in a very big dominant period in <v Speaker 4>the eighties, you know, in terms of comic book So <v Speaker 4>I imagine they're just like, let's just fucking milk this <v Speaker 4>shit while we can. <v Speaker 2>Did you come across. <v Speaker 4>Anything that suggested that Arnold auditioned for the Hulk role. <v Speaker 2>I have gotten some things that said that they were <v Speaker 2>thinking about him or they talked to him about it. <v Speaker 4>But yeah, how all these other guys got offered Rocky movies? <v Speaker 2>Right right? <v Speaker 17>You know? <v Speaker 2>I never heard. I don't think I heard him actually <v Speaker 2>say it, but I've heard other people say that they <v Speaker 2>talk to him about it or they were considering him, <v Speaker 2>So I don't know. I don't know how seriously he was, <v Speaker 2>but it was around the same time as for Rigno <v Speaker 2>was initially being considered before they went with Richard Keel. <v Speaker 2>It's all around that time. But one of the reasons <v Speaker 2>I think why they went with while they would prefer <v Speaker 2>for Igno anyways, because he is taller and bigger than <v Speaker 2>Schwarzenegger was, is you know, like everything. <v Speaker 18>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast with Jack and Scarno <v Speaker 18>and JP Sorro. <v Speaker 1>Wrestling podcast. <v Speaker 2>Now what's great is that, you know, even though Bill <v Speaker 2>Bixby was so Ken Johnson, No, he's done, he's out <v Speaker 2>of it, he's out of a picture now, he's gone <v Speaker 2>bye bye. But Bill Bixby is now like this is <v Speaker 2>my baby now, like he is all about it, and <v Speaker 2>he is very attached to the character but also the property. <v Speaker 19>And. <v Speaker 2>He I believe it was. He sounds like he had <v Speaker 2>a deal with New World Cinema, which, if you remember <v Speaker 2>from way way way back when we talked about New <v Speaker 2>World Cinema as a distributor h and at a production <v Speaker 2>house way back with Hell Comes to Frogtown. Okay, they <v Speaker 2>were the they were behind Hell Comes to Frogtown and whatnot. <v Speaker 2>So there and this was kind of their heyday this <v Speaker 2>period of time. So Bixby has a deal with them, <v Speaker 2>and at this time, so does Marvel. Marvel has a <v Speaker 2>deal with New World Cinema. So Biggs told Comic Scene magazine, quote, <v Speaker 2>there's a loyal following of people who want to know <v Speaker 2>what happened after Banner hit the road that last time. <v Speaker 2>Now we're going to let them know. When the idea <v Speaker 2>of the reunion film came up, I sat and sat <v Speaker 2>down and ran and ran the original pilot just to <v Speaker 2>reacquaint myself with the Hulk. It was pure dynamite. Even <v Speaker 2>eleven years after the fact, I'm not playing him that <v Speaker 2>much different. Banner is a little bit more mature, and <v Speaker 2>he has settled down to the point where he can <v Speaker 2>have a satisfying relationship with a woman. Basically, he's still <v Speaker 2>the same sensitive, compassionate individual, but he is now finally <v Speaker 2>on the verge of getting away from this alter ego <v Speaker 2>who has made his life a living hell. Now, they <v Speaker 2>wanted to add he is all about it, and he <v Speaker 2>brings in he brings in one of the other directors. <v Speaker 2>We mentioned his name before, Nick Nick something, or rather, <v Speaker 2>where is it? Where is it? Where is it? Charles <v Speaker 2>Napier was brought in by him Nick Nick uh Nick Korea. <v Speaker 2>Nicholas Korea, He's brought I think it is Nicholas Korea <v Speaker 2>who's brought into direct The Incredible Hulk returns and uh, <v Speaker 2>I just want to verify this and that I'm all <v Speaker 2>on the right track here. Yes, oh yeah, wait, yes, yes, <v Speaker 2>Nicholas Corea, Yes, okay, great, So he's he comes into <v Speaker 2>direct and the uh, the they but Marvel wanted to <v Speaker 2>do a little bit. They wanted to change things up <v Speaker 2>this a little bit. They wanted a little of a twist, <v Speaker 2>and this was now incorporating other Marvel characters into the <v Speaker 2>Incredible Hulk formula, And so they brought in Thor. Thor <v Speaker 2>was actually brought in, and it's a slightly better Thor <v Speaker 2>than the one we've seen with Kevin Nash, but still <v Speaker 2>not great. Like it's kind of it's kind of cheesy. <v Speaker 2>But yeah, So they started bringing other other properties in <v Speaker 2>with the with the intent of using it as a <v Speaker 2>backdoor pilot. They wanted to use the TV movie as <v Speaker 2>a backdoor pilot for Thor to have its own have <v Speaker 2>its own series didn't happen, But here's an interview. This <v Speaker 2>is an interview with bix and Farigno on Noonday the <v Speaker 2>mid day show Noonday on w x I, a TV <v Speaker 2>in Atlanta. <v Speaker 7>Bill Bixby has that funny look in his eyes. <v Speaker 8>Again. <v Speaker 7>If these guys were smart, they wouldn't make him mad. <v Speaker 1>It's been six. <v Speaker 7>Years since the Hulk flex's often green body, and back <v Speaker 7>by popular demand, the Hulp return this Sunday night in <v Speaker 7>a Maid for TD movie. We have those two wonderful <v Speaker 7>men with us who play the Hulk and who look <v Speaker 7>very good in a shade of green. <v Speaker 1>Bill Bixy and Luferigno. <v Speaker 2>Hello, how are you? Lolies? <v Speaker 7>Now I can understand why the Hulk is so popular. <v Speaker 7>I was thinking about it today. He's a little bit <v Speaker 7>of the gentlest that we've seen in Frankenstein and the Mystery. <v Speaker 1>Of Jekyll and Hyde. How do you see him? <v Speaker 20>No, I think you're absolutely light. It's the all Tho <v Speaker 20>e ego that most of us would like to have, <v Speaker 20>most of it. I think, at one time or another <v Speaker 20>would like to vent our anger in some meaningful way, <v Speaker 20>and I think that's what the Hulk requisents. <v Speaker 7>Now, what's different about this reprise role of the Hulk. <v Speaker 1>What are we going to see? <v Speaker 20>Well, you're going to see the Hulk that you've seen before, <v Speaker 20>except that we are adding another superhero. The idea at <v Speaker 20>New World was to make a series of movies at <v Speaker 20>the Incredible Hulk, but to include, since they own Marvel <v Speaker 20>comics of which the Hulk is won, a different superhero <v Speaker 20>in each movie. And that's the idea. The first one, <v Speaker 20>of course, will be the Mighty. <v Speaker 1>Four O four. <v Speaker 7>Now, lou are you going to play the Mighty four too? <v Speaker 7>You got the body for it. <v Speaker 8>Well, I think I'll play the Hulk this time because <v Speaker 8>of the Vida the winner and the fight. <v Speaker 7>Scene, and there's also such a gentle side to the Hulk. <v Speaker 7>Oh you know you're both green right now? I'm green too. <v Speaker 7>Oh my goodness. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, they did some cheap coloring. <v Speaker 7>Its stupid, I know, easy, it is an easy being green. <v Speaker 7>I'm the Hulk woman sort of What even up to <v Speaker 7>in the years in between the first Hulk on TV <v Speaker 7>and now this new movie coming up? <v Speaker 8>I'm a series I went in to Feedo. Just starting <v Speaker 8>to be a trained actor, and I'll study all the <v Speaker 8>time now. And I'm five feature film in Europe and <v Speaker 8>I'm having a new one coming now called All Fair <v Speaker 8>of the Comedy or started Color into your Seagul. <v Speaker 7>Coming out in this country. Also, you made it in Europe, <v Speaker 7>but they're coming out in this country, so then. <v Speaker 2>We'll be able to see that movie. <v Speaker 1>Very good. <v Speaker 7>What about Hugil, what have you been up to? <v Speaker 20>Well, most I have been directing. I'm in the past <v Speaker 20>five years. I've directed much more than I've performed. So <v Speaker 20>it's sort of nice to be back on camera again. <v Speaker 7>I'm sorry I missed the last one you were saying. <v Speaker 20>I just said it's nice to be back on camera <v Speaker 20>again as an actor. <v Speaker 2>Go ahead, I'm sorry. <v Speaker 20>I've just in that I have been directing for the <v Speaker 20>past five or six years, much more than I've been performing. <v Speaker 7>But we are looking forward to seeing the two of <v Speaker 7>you in those worlds. I'm sure it'll be a lot <v Speaker 7>of fun. Thanks for joining us this afternoon. <v Speaker 2>Thank you, Alex. <v Speaker 7>You can see Bill Bixby and Loup for Rigno hunk <v Speaker 7>out this Sunday night in their movie The Incredible Hulk <v Speaker 7>Return that'll be on Sunday night at eleven Alive, and <v Speaker 7>we thank them both for joining us. <v Speaker 2>So, yeah, the Hulk returns seen in nearly eighteen million homes, <v Speaker 2>around thirty three percent of the television televisions in use <v Speaker 2>at the time. And you know, let's not forget too again. <v Speaker 2>You know, we talked. You know, Marvel owns the Hulk <v Speaker 2>Hogan name. Would it be surprising to you to learn? <v Speaker 2>Maybe you knew this. I don't know that in the <v Speaker 2>pages of Marvel Comics, the two Hulks squared off. Did <v Speaker 2>they did to mock Hulk? Yep? Do you have my screen? <v Speaker 2>I just shared it. There we go. So we have <v Speaker 2>the main event, the Incredible Hulk, and the main event. <v Speaker 2>It's clearly Vegas with me the Incredible Hulk. Brother, You're <v Speaker 2>heard right, I'm incredible and not just that dude. I'm <v Speaker 2>roudier than Roddy, more mach other than the man. <v Speaker 4>Oh god, it's clearly Hogan's illustration and the yellow trunks <v Speaker 4>that shows him body slamming somebody. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, he says, oh, I hate this job on. The <v Speaker 2>Incredible Hulk, the winner and still champion, the blonde bombs <v Speaker 2>drummer himself, the blonde, the only Hulk. It's funny them <v Speaker 2>not calling him a Hulk, Hogan, Hulk. <v Speaker 4>They don't want to actually call him out directly, sort <v Speaker 4>of wink wink, nudge, nudge, and you know it's still <v Speaker 4>to come. But they probably tempt WWF to slap them <v Speaker 4>back if they started using probably slap them for using Hulk. <v Speaker 2>And that doesn't even get the Hulk comes in on <v Speaker 2>boil you out Hulk. <v Speaker 4>So it's it's the green Marvel character versus versus the <v Speaker 4>representation of the pro wrestler in a Marvel comic book. <v Speaker 2>Amazing Marvel comic book, and they go at it and <v Speaker 2>fucking Hulk, you know, Green Hulk just wipes the floor <v Speaker 2>with them. <v Speaker 4>And they're just getting this is their version of, you know, <v Speaker 4>doing like a Gilberg squash. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, exactly, exactly. Hulk is cleaning the mat with this <v Speaker 2>embarrassment Hulk smash. Brother. <v Speaker 4>Oh, police calls Hulk Hogan an embarrassment. <v Speaker 2>Yes he does. And you call yourself the Hulk, You're <v Speaker 2>worst than an impostor. He fucking just like destroys him, <v Speaker 2>slams him Downine. <v Speaker 17>Oh yeah, yeah, you can find it online. Yeah, I've <v Speaker 17>seen your post, Senior, videos. I've seen your stupid cartoon show. <v Speaker 17>I've seen enough. He stomps on him, kicks him. <v Speaker 2>You think they're headed for a collision course? Yeah, you know, <v Speaker 2>you seriously, you'd think it'd be they're building to a <v Speaker 2>WrestleMania main event. They even throw them like he even <v Speaker 2>throws him out the window, like like it's the fucking <v Speaker 2>super Bowl commercial in ninety nine. Oh wow, you know, <v Speaker 2>at the very bottom of that panel there, and he laughs, <v Speaker 2>and then Hogan crashed into somebody's house all fucking beaten <v Speaker 2>up in breeze. I haven't seen it this deep into <v Speaker 2>the end of the comic. Yeah, it's crazy. And then <v Speaker 2>the last thing he says, the Incredible hope that is, <v Speaker 2>oh the incredible Hallway goes down here and he goes, uh, <v Speaker 2>you can call me mister fix It, and they can <v Speaker 2>call me the Incredible you know. <v Speaker 4>What, Wow, fix it? What would know about that? It's <v Speaker 4>a little let in a little something, boss. Do you <v Speaker 4>know that this is the only ever comic book appearance <v Speaker 4>of Hulk Hogan? <v Speaker 2>Really, I did not know that. <v Speaker 4>Because part of the deal to allow him to use <v Speaker 4>the Hulk name in wrestling was that Hulk Hogan never appear. <v Speaker 2>In a comic book. Wow. <v Speaker 4>So when you go back to those WWF comic books <v Speaker 4>that we loved so much in ninety one, remember those? <v Speaker 6>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, you remember Hulk in any of the No, No, <v Speaker 2>that's so true, That's so true. <v Speaker 4>That's why I wonders how much that has to do <v Speaker 4>with the thing we've long noted as well in the <v Speaker 4>Colosseum collection. How bizarre it is that eighty percent of <v Speaker 4>the Colosseum tapes released during the onset of Hulk Comania <v Speaker 4>featured no Hulk. <v Speaker 2>Hulkogan Right, that's so gotta be. <v Speaker 4>Because on the back end they wanted to split as <v Speaker 4>little Marvel as possible. <v Speaker 2>I'm sure you're right. I'm sure you're right about that. <v Speaker 2>So the success of The Incredible Hulk Returns spawned another <v Speaker 2>TV film in nineteen eighty nine titled The Trial of <v Speaker 2>the Incredible Hulk. And this time, guess who's in the <v Speaker 2>director's chair. I don't know, Judge Mitcheler, Yeah, I wish No, <v Speaker 2>just Bill Bixby. Bill Bikesby's directing this one, And like <v Speaker 2>the previous one, another Marvel hero is added to the mix. <v Speaker 2>Two two characters. Actually. First of all, they bring in <v Speaker 2>Matt Murdock and Daredevil to be in this one and <v Speaker 2>again as an attempt to use the film as a <v Speaker 2>backdoor pilot for a Daredevil series, which never happened. But <v Speaker 2>they also bring in their first super villain. They bring <v Speaker 2>in Wilson Fisk the uh what's his name? It is <v Speaker 2>fucking christ I can't think of the the comic Kingpin Kingpin, <v Speaker 2>thank you, yes, Kingpin played by John Rhys Davies, who <v Speaker 2>is Sala in the Indiana Jones movies. And this one <v Speaker 2>also also Actually then, there's another notable thing about this <v Speaker 2>particular TV film. It is the first it features the <v Speaker 2>first ever on screen cameo of stan Lee in a <v Speaker 2>Marvel project, Wow, which he became very notable for ever <v Speaker 2>since then. Any Marvel movie Stanley always made up until <v Speaker 2>he died, he always made even actually even now I <v Speaker 2>think even they still like put him in with CGI. <v Speaker 2>They put him in doing a cameo, a stan Lee cameo. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>And so that was a big That was a big deal. <v Speaker 2>And this one also huge huge numbers, second most watched <v Speaker 2>program on Sunday, May seventh, nineteen eighty nine, with a <v Speaker 2>thirteen point two rating and a twenty audience share, which <v Speaker 2>means what does that mean to you? If you're a <v Speaker 2>successful TV show, successful team, what does that mean to you? <v Speaker 2>Means there's going to be another one, right, And there <v Speaker 2>was a third, Oh my god, a third fucking Made <v Speaker 2>for T YEP Made for TV sequel, The Death of <v Speaker 2>the Incredible Hulk, which aired on February eighteenth, nineteen ninety <v Speaker 2>and was initially rumored It was rumored that they were <v Speaker 2>going to feature the characters of She Hulk and or <v Speaker 2>Iron Man, but that never came to pass, and that <v Speaker 2>one came in number twenty four for the week with <v Speaker 2>a fourteen point six rating, And there were plans, there <v Speaker 2>were plans for a fourth Made for TV sequel, and <v Speaker 2>this time for sure was going to feature She Hulk <v Speaker 2>and Ironman. There was their names were in the scripts <v Speaker 2>that were being done at the time, or at least <v Speaker 2>the outlines or whatever. However, the project was canceled because <v Speaker 2>Bill Bixby died. He died in nineteen ninety three at <v Speaker 2>the age of fifty nine from prostate cancer, and which <v Speaker 2>is very sad. So that was the last. That was <v Speaker 2>the last, and so they were going to revive even <v Speaker 2>though that last one was called the death of the <v Speaker 2>Incredible Hulk. They were going to bring him back and <v Speaker 2>like called like the Revenge of the Incredible Hulk or <v Speaker 2>something like that. But that was the last of this <v Speaker 2>incarnation of the Incredible Hulk. The next live action piece <v Speaker 2>would be the two thousand and two Aanglee film Hulk. <v Speaker 2>But yeah, but now I want to finish things up <v Speaker 2>by going back to talking about the talk show appearance. <v Speaker 2>But you know, the supposed talk show appearance with Hulk, <v Speaker 2>Hogan and Ferrigno. Yeah, because you know one thing I <v Speaker 2>was I was curious about that they kind of done <v Speaker 2>on me. Sadly. I'm just going to put this out <v Speaker 2>there right away. Lufa Rigno is not on cameo because <v Speaker 2>I would have liked to have asked him that question. <v Speaker 2>But has he ever talked about it? I imagine people must have. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>you know, does he remember this event? Well, guess what. <v Speaker 2>According to Channel ten in Tampa, he does remember it. <v Speaker 4>Does remember it? <v Speaker 2>Well, that's what Channel ten says. This is after Hogan died. <v Speaker 2>This is this past summer, and according to Channel ten, <v Speaker 2>he he talked about it after Holgan passed away. But <v Speaker 2>I want you to listen carefully. I want you to <v Speaker 2>listen very carefully, okay. <v Speaker 16>Fellow hulkster Lou Farigno remembers that random talk show nearly <v Speaker 16>fifty years ago where the two met and Hogan's team <v Speaker 16>decided he should be a Hulk too. <v Speaker 8>And I remember he came on this scene at the <v Speaker 8>time and I was very big. But I said to myself, <v Speaker 8>it guy's big, it taller. But mustn't know why. <v Speaker 2>No, but he had a big arm. <v Speaker 16>Farigno started as the gigantic Green superhero on the Incredible <v Speaker 16>Hulk TV series in this seventies and eighties, and would <v Speaker 16>later run into Hogan at bodybuilder Jim's in La. <v Speaker 8>He walked in, called, hey brother, how you doing blood? <v Speaker 8>Hey brother, I'm going to my neighbor, played Hey brother, <v Speaker 8>I've got to my shoulder. We played hey blether, you know, <v Speaker 8>back and forth. But whenever he walked in, it was <v Speaker 8>either I had especially his life. <v Speaker 16>And he had to overcome art, a life that ended <v Speaker 16>in July when Hogan died from a heart attack after <v Speaker 16>being in and out of the hospital the last several <v Speaker 16>weeks battling infections after a neck surgery. <v Speaker 8>Well, what makes me sad? As though I'm seventy three <v Speaker 8>he's seventy one. You know, you get in this seventies, <v Speaker 8>you have not at a danger zone. You have to <v Speaker 8>protect your health and everything. <v Speaker 16>What he remembers now is their last meeting at another <v Speaker 16>signing event a few years ago in Buffalo. <v Speaker 8>But I remember I was looking down trying to text <v Speaker 8>someone and over my show that he was saying, get <v Speaker 8>up your lazy basting and everything. <v Speaker 16>It was full cooker, and he wishes he could have <v Speaker 16>seen him one last time. <v Speaker 8>I was hoping to see him at BIBRAF for a <v Speaker 8>long time. But you know something, we got to be <v Speaker 8>great by every day. But we have God without or. <v Speaker 2>Do you see what they you see how they ended <v Speaker 2>that together the very beginning, he says. And he remembers <v Speaker 2>that random talk show though he doesn't, but he doesn't <v Speaker 2>tell you. He doesn't say the talk show at all. <v Speaker 2>He says he came on the scene, Yeah he was around. <v Speaker 4>No, not the scene, yeah no. <v Speaker 2>Like right, but he says he like he arrived on <v Speaker 2>the scene around the same time that he was doing <v Speaker 2>The Hulk. He does to talk about it fucking ripped <v Speaker 2>him off, right, Like he doesn't talk about he didn't <v Speaker 2>say the fucking thing at all, Like the Tampa News <v Speaker 2>Channel basically like, I don't I get they're they're they're <v Speaker 2>quoting the books and then they just do that. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>that's where he started saying it. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, and you know, I have a theory, you know, Yes, <v Speaker 4>it's still in the it's still in the formative stages. <v Speaker 4>So all right, all right, But I think I think <v Speaker 4>one thing we've learned about Hulk Hogan, it's this, if <v Speaker 4>he has an apocryphal tale, if he has this one <v Speaker 4>anecdote that that ties a lot of things together very conveniently. <v Speaker 4>That anecdote is very likely made up and constructed, agreed <v Speaker 4>to hold together some some sort of pretense for I <v Speaker 4>don't know when he wants to establish that he started <v Speaker 4>doing something versus it's just kind of funny line before, <v Speaker 4>like where's the harmon saying the Hulk show was really big? <v Speaker 4>So I said, fuck it, let's just be the Hulk. <v Speaker 4>I don't understand where the word him is that. I <v Speaker 4>guess me. That's why, because they would go on to <v Speaker 4>as we'll get to an incomplete Hulk Hogan essentially let <v Speaker 4>me let me drop the teas now basically try to <v Speaker 4>stop WrestleMania one from happening. Oh, whoa the way it <v Speaker 4>should have happened. <v Speaker 2>Whoa, that's fine. <v Speaker 4>I don't think I don't think the garden's full if <v Speaker 4>it's uh Paul Orndorf and Roddy Piper versus mister T <v Speaker 4>and Terry Bolea. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, I agree with you on that one. Jesus <v Speaker 2>Christ Almighty. That's well, that is a fucking tease. And <v Speaker 2>uh that wraps it up here? Are you ready to <v Speaker 2>watch the incredible Hulk pilot film? <v Speaker 4>So ready to see what Hulk saw? That is to say, <v Speaker 4>Terry saw to become Hulk. <v Speaker 2>And roll the projector three two one play brother brother. <v Speaker 4>Kind of the footsteps right out of the gate, green <v Speaker 4>feet through the woods. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, this is like a little recap, like I don't know, <v Speaker 2>it's weird. It's a it's a preview recap. Right still <v Speaker 2>to come right still to kai right, there's Ben. <v Speaker 4>Skule x ray. See this already looks like so much <v Speaker 4>less cheesy than the Spider Man's. Oh and seriously, there <v Speaker 4>was also a Linda Carter Wonder Woman that was a <v Speaker 4>hit too, right, that led to this excitement. Yeah, but <v Speaker 4>that was also h that was like three years it lasted. <v Speaker 4>It still didn't last as Long, Bill Bixby and the <v Speaker 4>Incredible Hulk. <v Speaker 2>Saine thoughts, I. <v Speaker 21>Think that audiences can expect just a great, overall entertaining movie. <v Speaker 4>Thank God for that, Thank God for that. It's plain <v Speaker 4>Jane titles. You know, let the the special effets to <v Speaker 4>the talking, yeah, exactly, or let the story do the <v Speaker 4>talking with then each of us off times there Dwelves <v Speaker 4>a mighty and raging fury brother. The title card reads, yes, <v Speaker 4>when it comes crashing down and it hurts inside, where <v Speaker 4>is the Hulk inside you? <v Speaker 6>Right? <v Speaker 4>Jeez, fucking French filmmaker. They want to make it Cinneatic <v Speaker 4>walking through the willows with his sweetheart yep for Gamma rays, Yeah, <v Speaker 4>pre Gamma, pre Gamma. <v Speaker 2>That's seventies fucking music. Have you ever heard of Geez <v Speaker 2>before he went to Gamma school. This is before he <v Speaker 2>became a Gamma jamma. <v Speaker 4>Look at them boating together, running in the rain together. <v Speaker 2>Together, when she fucking she's like lion king and this <v Speaker 2>cat so I forget. This is in the cinemas in. <v Speaker 4>France, that's right, exactly, in less cinema tech know what <v Speaker 4>that is. But Bruce Banner's comforting her on the receipt <v Speaker 4>of bad news. <v Speaker 2>Because they love they love each other pancakes, yep, because <v Speaker 2>it's not about food, right, Laura loves David. Oh, David, David. <v Speaker 2>This is gonna be. This is the fucking the worst thing, <v Speaker 2>you know. This is the the Davy he is. He's <v Speaker 2>scolding her for her political views. Is that what that is? <v Speaker 2>Pointing at her? The tailor too. Oh god, he's like <v Speaker 2>sticking sticking needles in her ass. Dude, y fucking Joan <v Speaker 2>Severan's over here, seriously one for the road. Uh, he's <v Speaker 2>going to bed. She's reading. <v Speaker 4>Disco ball too. Just a montage of Davey Banner is <v Speaker 4>a normal Joe with a with a sweetart. <v Speaker 2>Not Betty Ross though, you know, Bruce Banner's traditional girlfriend. <v Speaker 2>Car vehicular activity right going on here, driving right over <v Speaker 2>there aren't over the camera there that that shot. Ye <v Speaker 2>don't distract him, you see. This is hurt. <v Speaker 4>Oh brother, holy shit. They're driving together and a wheel <v Speaker 4>just blew off the car and the whole thing is <v Speaker 4>going onto its roof. It's a twist. I do nothing <v Speaker 4>of out the milk story. <v Speaker 2>Well, this is the up Jesus. Big bump there, big <v Speaker 2>bump by Bill Bakesby and the car is flipped over <v Speaker 2>and she's inside, So. <v Speaker 4>He got ejected. She's stuck inside. I think we know <v Speaker 4>where this is going. <v Speaker 2>Yep. Cars on fire. He's trying to, you know, trying <v Speaker 2>to do that superhuman strength that everyone talks about. <v Speaker 4>Right, can't move the car, kick out the windows if <v Speaker 4>he can. <v Speaker 2>Now that's gonna be hot. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, kid, Johnson's going off on this scene. Oh yeah, <v Speaker 4>full flex, full cinema topic. He wants to go cinema hard. <v Speaker 4>Oh just a howl yep. Bruce Binner wakes up Davy <v Speaker 4>Banner from The Nightmare alone in his bed, all lost. <v Speaker 4>At least she didn't wake up and look over and <v Speaker 4>see what she thought were his ass sheets on the <v Speaker 4>end of the bed, heaving. <v Speaker 2>Half expecting like looking underneath and finding a horse head <v Speaker 2>like the God found. <v Speaker 4>No, I know it does feel that way, tears coming <v Speaker 4>to his eyes. In the Hulk comics, does he have <v Speaker 4>this backstory? <v Speaker 2>Banner? Yeah, I don't. I'm a familiar. No, I don't. <v Speaker 2>I don't see I'm on as familiar with the Hulk comics. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I know that that's not usually what's portrayed in the movies. <v Speaker 2>Let me see I can find a quick origin here. <v Speaker 4>You would think if that was central to the original story, <v Speaker 4>that would be in. <v Speaker 2>The comic books. You know, he's, as we know, uh <v Speaker 2>not a fan of comic books. <v Speaker 4>Supposedly of dialogue for the first time. <v Speaker 2>I remember it being more about yeah, all right, so <v Speaker 2>he's so so in this in According to Wikipedia, Bruce <v Speaker 2>Banner was recruited by the army to develop nuclear weapons <v Speaker 2>and under during the experiment one of the experiments, he's <v Speaker 2>exposed to gamma radiation and that's what doesn't So it's <v Speaker 2>not having to do with this kind of a This <v Speaker 2>is a much more human right, you know, grounded if <v Speaker 2>you will. <v Speaker 4>Well, now he's walk in the halls of what appears <v Speaker 4>to be a laboratory. <v Speaker 2>Yes, he is a he is a physicist and a scientist. <v Speaker 2>Congress or is a physician. I forget what they say <v Speaker 2>in the fucking opening credits. Let me call him a physician. Look, <v Speaker 2>he's a fucking right, he's a PCP, you know, right, <v Speaker 2>as well as a U a gamma you know, physics physicists, scientist. <v Speaker 4>However, this shoulder to cryon that he has at the <v Speaker 4>office knows that he had another one of those bad nights. <v Speaker 2>Yep, said I. <v Speaker 9>Should expect the dreams to recur now and then for <v Speaker 9>a while. It's been almost a year eleven months. <v Speaker 4>Do you know that before the Green Hulk, there were <v Speaker 4>other Hulks that existed, uh, in previous mar comics. <v Speaker 2>Really yeah? <v Speaker 4>Like first, uh, first, blush, it looks sent you a <v Speaker 4>couple of them. <v Speaker 2>Okay, we better not be fucking Frank Silva when. <v Speaker 4>Oh no, no, no, no, no, I would. I would do <v Speaker 4>that too, but I'm not doing that to you here. <v Speaker 4>This is one of our wonderful listeners who I'm going <v Speaker 4>to be relying on more as we go into this <v Speaker 4>particular sung. Here we go, Wow, look at this almost <v Speaker 4>like a blob like red figure. We made fun of <v Speaker 4>Johnson for trying to get a red Hulk Will apparently <v Speaker 4>there was. <v Speaker 2>It's like it's like a it's like a wow. Well <v Speaker 2>this actually and this even brings up something even more interesting. Well, no, <v Speaker 2>that's is November sixty two, sixty two, right, So I'm wondering, <v Speaker 2>I'm thinking to myself, is this like before did did? <v Speaker 2>Are we talking about more stealing from from? Uh? For <v Speaker 2>for with stan Lee? Is he stealing even more people's things? <v Speaker 8>Right? <v Speaker 2>So this is interesting? Yeah, one's like a robot. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>the very first one. Yeah, like rampaging. That's interesting. No, <v Speaker 2>I did not know that part. These aren't incredible. Help. <v Speaker 2>This is just now a hulk. It's like it's like <v Speaker 2>the it's like the action figures. You'd find it at <v Speaker 2>a at a convenience store, you know. Mas'rying to learn <v Speaker 2>how would be like instead of having Hulk Hogan, you <v Speaker 2>have like brunk broken or something. <v Speaker 20>Us. <v Speaker 4>So Jermaine Jackson is getting a tour of the facility. <v Speaker 2>I think, oh god, it's a young man being a <v Speaker 2>little experiment. <v Speaker 4>I'm looking at an experiment on her brother. What's going <v Speaker 4>on here? Apparently signed up for some kind of participation <v Speaker 4>in the study here at the lab. <v Speaker 7>About thousand pounds of pressure on it. <v Speaker 13>Wow, right, thinks much stronger than you think too. <v Speaker 6>Something. <v Speaker 2>I just you know what was stronger than bone was <v Speaker 2>a boner. That's what I said. My boner is extremely strong. <v Speaker 6>Right now, as you can. <v Speaker 4>She's handed the boy an egg. Go ahead, it's gonna <v Speaker 4>crack four of them and put them in a blunder. <v Speaker 2>It's gone. <v Speaker 13>See I told you some kind of especially especially damn. <v Speaker 9>Righter than you thought. <v Speaker 4>Right, there's Bill back speaking there he is. <v Speaker 2>He's a big head. You know, I don't notice that <v Speaker 2>before you right there? Put it four ways. Yeah, you <v Speaker 2>guys have Yeah. I don't let the women eat fucking <v Speaker 2>sugar and carbs. Alright, they don't watch my fake here, <v Speaker 2>don't get them fat, all right. I can't put them on. <v Speaker 2>They can't put on television. All right, we don't put <v Speaker 2>frods on Television's gonna eat it that mouth because it's <v Speaker 2>that's like the first you know, I she's imagining it's <v Speaker 2>this cock. Is that what it is? Yeah? So now <v Speaker 2>the boy's being interviewed. <v Speaker 13>Yep, missus mayor, Well, I was driving to Columbus, Ohio <v Speaker 13>to see my sister Katie. I was going about. <v Speaker 4>Fifty's counting, thriving to Ohio with the boy in the <v Speaker 4>car before it happened. Oh, the real tire blew out, <v Speaker 4>just like the blown out Davy banners tire blew out. <v Speaker 2>Oh it's the same guy, the same thing. <v Speaker 6>The roll. <v Speaker 2>She's explaining how the car rolled. He's having flashbacks. <v Speaker 4>Is this actually some side story about a class action <v Speaker 4>lawsuit against the tiger manufacturer? <v Speaker 2>Could you imagine if that's what it was? And like <v Speaker 2>the majority of the film was about that, and then <v Speaker 2>the very end it just happens to have this hulk <v Speaker 2>come in to. <v Speaker 4>Play, waiting for like the nuclear stuff. <v Speaker 2>Nothing and what happened not in this series. <v Speaker 13>Then I went over to the car and they were flames, <v Speaker 13>like all over the top of. <v Speaker 9>The other Star, I mean the bottom of the. <v Speaker 2>Car there and there she is battling the flames just <v Speaker 2>like that. <v Speaker 6>Excuse me when my face she. <v Speaker 4>Has a wow face too. Yeah, now, I didn't realize <v Speaker 4>that at first. It's just really a lightning. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, me too. That's that's crazy. <v Speaker 6>It's that I had to get him out of there. <v Speaker 13>But you see the door of the car was pinned <v Speaker 13>down by the. <v Speaker 1>Weight of the car. <v Speaker 2>Oh, he's he's definitely going. <v Speaker 4>I went back, Davy Banner is going back to it's <v Speaker 4>failed attempts. <v Speaker 2>To lift the car. <v Speaker 1>Really frantic. <v Speaker 2>If only he were the incredible Holk, he could have <v Speaker 2>lifted out right a bit. Yes she did, Mom tell him. <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 12>I don't know exactly how it happened. <v Speaker 13>The fire was spreading, and I do know that it <v Speaker 13>was going to explode. <v Speaker 2>Reassume that performance of her pushing the cars. <v Speaker 13>And credible the car, I thought then I could open <v Speaker 13>up the door. <v Speaker 7>I just I just tried to lift it. <v Speaker 2>It was the thing I did. You know, really, what <v Speaker 2>the story is here is that the love of a <v Speaker 2>mother to her child is more, is stronger than right? <v Speaker 2>You know your girlfriend exactly exactly. So he just doesn't understand. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, she's explaining how she suddenly was lifting up the car. <v Speaker 4>Maybe she's speaking to how there's a hulk in all <v Speaker 4>of us. <v Speaker 2>Maybe she's the hulk. <v Speaker 13>Wow lifting. I don't know where I got the strand. <v Speaker 13>I don't know where it came from. <v Speaker 2>My god, she has it. You can't believe what you's doing. <v Speaker 15>I know. <v Speaker 2>Not what Davy Banner wants to know. He's like, no, <v Speaker 2>this is not Bruce Banner. You just call him Bruce. <v Speaker 2>I can't. I can't call him David. Every knows Bruce Banner. Yeap. <v Speaker 2>According to my. <v Speaker 7>Calculations, the weight was later found. <v Speaker 2>He's fucking bounces. He can't even deal. Who's on the <v Speaker 2>couch here? Exactly? Right? Have I done something wrong? Yes? <v Speaker 2>You have you told the truth? Oh? He is well, <v Speaker 2>he is power. I would be worried about what he's <v Speaker 2>about to do. <v Speaker 4>What if I licked your balls? Would that make you <v Speaker 4>feel better she drops. That would be said a seventies <v Speaker 4>porn thing. Hit the nw AL music. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, Oh my god, it'll be tremendous. <v Speaker 4>All of a sudden hiss like his like six inch <v Speaker 4>dick is a rex, and there's like ball hair green. <v Speaker 2>He's got a green cock. <v Speaker 4>One hundred and ten pounds. Women just don't lift up <v Speaker 4>a half tumbed car. <v Speaker 2>Be there. Only third party people can lift up cars <v Speaker 2>like that. <v Speaker 20>Story, my god, that's exactly what happened to me, except <v Speaker 20>that her son is alive. <v Speaker 2>She hooked up right, She's right, she hawked up. You <v Speaker 2>couldn't hulk up. You're a bit by himself. <v Speaker 4>Everything we've researched, it's been the same story, over and <v Speaker 4>over again. What is the common denominator? He left me <v Speaker 4>hanging there? <v Speaker 2>You're trying to say, I guess he's the common denominator, <v Speaker 2>But he's the failure that if it had been that, <v Speaker 2>if it had been anybody else but him, he could <v Speaker 2>have saved his girlfriend. I know, I'm sorry. <v Speaker 4>I mean it was Tony Morrison at twenty one. I <v Speaker 4>could have lifted this fucking car. <v Speaker 2>If only I hadn't stopped my cycles. <v Speaker 4>If only I hadn't quietly actually kind of given up <v Speaker 4>in my head and pretended I didn't. <v Speaker 2>If I only hadn't really wanted her to die, right, <v Speaker 2>I could have saved her. <v Speaker 4>How can you hope to examine a medical phenomen on <v Speaker 4>with cool scientific objectivity? He cuts it right off. Don't <v Speaker 4>don't talk to me, don't take me off this case. <v Speaker 9>Always getting angry doesn't. <v Speaker 4>Help getting here. It doesn't help my mother. I used <v Speaker 4>to tell me getting angry doesn't help. <v Speaker 2>It, and then I used to throw shit at. <v Speaker 4>Her that should make meat loaf and. <v Speaker 9>Love. <v Speaker 2>Alan Moore, you'd always talk about Kenny. <v Speaker 6>Comes from. <v Speaker 4>Do you think we'll ever find where that strength comes from? <v Speaker 2>He asks? Not with her wearing a dress like that, <v Speaker 2>Jesus Christ. That thing is like that. That thing does <v Speaker 2>not look like it breathes at all. It is covering <v Speaker 2>like she looks like one of the one of the <v Speaker 2>women wrestlers. And when they go to Saudi, yes, covered <v Speaker 2>from head to toe. The running kinds of experiments on <v Speaker 2>people and putting things under microscopes, that's right. Discovery. It's <v Speaker 2>like a computer micro chip there. Discovery like just studying <v Speaker 2>and researching, experimenting. <v Speaker 21>I just pinned under this thing there, and I just <v Speaker 21>started pumping, pumping my fists and I got I was <v Speaker 21>able to pick it up a very big schnitze. <v Speaker 2>Indeed, Yeah, that's all as well. And spots. <v Speaker 4>Now so the common denominator and they sit down interviews <v Speaker 4>they're doing or instances were regular people just and super <v Speaker 4>human strength to do something to get out of a pinch. <v Speaker 4>This woman bent a steel beam. Give the filmmakers credit here. <v Speaker 4>They're not just going right to the gring and guy, <v Speaker 4>you know they're not. They're really letting the simmer. <v Speaker 2>No, I didn't. Fact, I'll tell you what this is. <v Speaker 2>This is actually probably the least action based, right, fucking Christ, <v Speaker 2>Jesus Christ. He's like the love child of Joe Pesci <v Speaker 2>and my grandma and myself. <v Speaker 6>We're gonna die. <v Speaker 2>We're gonna die, said to myself. We're gonna die. <v Speaker 4>And you can hear like the crinkle of his leather jacket. Yeah, <v Speaker 4>heavy guy belongs in a fucking Frank Capra movie. <v Speaker 2>Oh, he absolutely does. <v Speaker 9>Then how did you do it? <v Speaker 2>How did you do it? I was kind of busy. <v Speaker 7>How many bullets are taken out of you? <v Speaker 4>Seventeen seventeen bullets. I was shot seventeen times. So this <v Speaker 4>probably would have aired over two hours, right with commercials. <v Speaker 2>Yes, it's about a two hour. Yeah, it was a <v Speaker 2>two hour TV movie. That is a leisure suit in <v Speaker 2>a half. Yeah, jack McGee. Do you see that dolly shot? <v Speaker 2>That was a crazy shot. <v Speaker 4>Doctor Banner is looking at the blood of these people <v Speaker 4>to see if emotional. He's so commonality angry and my <v Speaker 4>guess that's the whole driven research. But like, you know, like, <v Speaker 4>but he's such a like, it's such a selfish you know, <v Speaker 4>they're taking all these resources just so we can tell <v Speaker 4>himself that it's not his fault that the girlfriend Paris. <v Speaker 4>It's a metochondria scan for that ass answer. <v Speaker 2>Half a million That TV man minicontrious can't for that <v Speaker 2>ass Oh, no, state of the art television screen monitors, <v Speaker 2>monitor monitoring. A computer is beeping and <v Speaker 2>in the movies, you know what that means yea importance. <v Speaker 4>Okay, just text on the screen. But they're making it <v Speaker 4>the most dramatic thing you've ever seen. <v Speaker 2>What is that blinking anything? <v Speaker 6>Yes? <v Speaker 2>Yes? Oh? What is it? Found it? Content abnormal? <v Speaker 4>Oh, it's flashes content abnormal on the screen. <v Speaker 2>Commercial break. We'll be right back. The Incredible Hulk returns. <v Speaker 4>It's fair Child Semiconductor. These two horrid again. It's like <v Speaker 4>a place where. <v Speaker 2>Like like nand memory was created in nineteen seventy two, <v Speaker 2>NA magnified a million times. It's impossible. Mmm, he's looking <v Speaker 2>at his own blood now. Yep, DNA others can't be <v Speaker 2>same variant the strength. <v Speaker 4>Your bitch found the strength they did. So how can <v Speaker 4>I have the same variant because you're a bitch, that's what. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 4>I think that he's going to reach that very unscientific <v Speaker 4>conclusion because am I a bitch. <v Speaker 2>I know what I'll do. I'll draw the bubble of <v Speaker 2>shoelaks on a piece of paper. We've got a problem <v Speaker 2>with the microwave tremendously this guy anyway, he said, we've <v Speaker 2>got a problem with the microwave transmit or just a <v Speaker 2>problem with the microwave. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I don't know what he said there, but he <v Speaker 4>quickly followed it up. But it's gonna take my bell <v Speaker 4>a couple of days, the patching up. You gonna get <v Speaker 4>some pizzas you want to you want to end awesome. <v Speaker 4>You want to, Bruce, get you some pies from Little Neros. <v Speaker 4>That's when you know they're onto something when the pizza <v Speaker 4>orders come out. <v Speaker 2>Building at one of them. Yep, the extreme oasis ringing <v Speaker 2>around the banner's head something extern h thought, thought happening <v Speaker 2>with Yeah, for sure, with Bruce looking at a Richter <v Speaker 2>scale reading gamma interfere with biology. <v Speaker 4>Gamma rays have been known to interfere with biological activity. Doctors, <v Speaker 4>it's onto something here. He has a hypothesis forming they <v Speaker 4>like that shot. Oh yeah, yep, yep, he does. You <v Speaker 4>know in the in that commentary track too, I didn't. <v Speaker 4>I didn't take any clips right because I was, you know, <v Speaker 4>running out of space. But he you should you should <v Speaker 4>hear how often Ken Johnson bad mouths all the seventies tropes. <v Speaker 2>Oh really in here? Yeah, he makes fun of all <v Speaker 2>the clothing that's seventies. He makes fun of all shots <v Speaker 2>that are like seventies, like zoom shots and stuff like that. <v Speaker 2>I'm like, dude, just why are you gonna do that? <v Speaker 2>It's the fucking seventies, Like, it's not like, it's not <v Speaker 2>the seventies. Right Er just circled the lowest point on <v Speaker 2>the chart because that's where he belongs. It's like, this <v Speaker 2>is this is where the stock found support on the downside. <v Speaker 2>It's never gonna go lower than this. I gotta call <v Speaker 2>my broker. I want to sell all shares of Yes, <v Speaker 2>it's a buying opportunity. He gave it two rings and <v Speaker 2>hangs up. Where's the fucking It's like Friday, Friday the thirteenth. Oh, <v Speaker 2>who's thee all the green? Yeah, a little green shading there. <v Speaker 2>It's called symbolic radio radiation area. Uh oh, not a <v Speaker 2>good idea test just doctor Banner and the radiation machine. <v Speaker 2>That's right. That is it trying to lift the bed? Okay, <v Speaker 2>so we lifted it. So shouldn't you listen to that? <v Speaker 2>You can't lift? Isn't it the whole point? You should like? Okay, <v Speaker 2>I can't lift this, but if I once I do <v Speaker 2>the process, I should be able to lift this. <v Speaker 4>If I can lift an empty hospital bed, I feel <v Speaker 4>better about myself. He's gonna turn the machine on, but <v Speaker 4>appear that way radiology scanner, whatever those are called. He's <v Speaker 4>gonna crank up that gamma. <v Speaker 2>Speaking their dock charts, bringing up that gamma jam my brother, <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, gamma sing. <v Speaker 4>So many knobs everything, yeahob, But back then, every piece <v Speaker 4>of tech had a knob that clicked. <v Speaker 2>I'm surprised that there are no blinking lights there. You go. Yep, <v Speaker 2>coump down. Give himself quite a bit of time. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I don't know why you need two minutes. I mean, <v Speaker 2>I mean, if I were Ken Johnson, I would actually <v Speaker 2>have this scene linger for two minutes, just to make <v Speaker 2>us suffer. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, he's gonna go take a piss first. Yeah, no, okay, <v Speaker 4>slides his body into the radiation machine. <v Speaker 2>I guess twenty seconds have gone by, so he's he's <v Speaker 2>going the full two minutes here. <v Speaker 4>All right, This isn't like a rumble countdown. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I know. <v Speaker 4>But they should have put the classic Cassio clock in <v Speaker 4>the by. <v Speaker 2>I agree, I agree, we should have a Casio clock <v Speaker 2>science yep, well, anything any thing to soothe his ego, <v Speaker 2>his angst be exactly. Johnson loves that shot, you know. <v Speaker 2>Oh he you should listen. Oh my god, he fucking <v Speaker 2>loves that shot. You can hear him jerking off to <v Speaker 2>it on the commentary track in the background is here. Jeez, <v Speaker 2>that's a famous in the head, that's a famous shot. <v Speaker 2>That's like the famous shot they use for that thing. <v Speaker 2>But I mean, what a machine? What is this fucking <v Speaker 2>machine that does this? I mean, Jesus Christ, it'll allow <v Speaker 2>you to do it to yourself. Why is I mean, <v Speaker 2>it looks like we're gonna be in like a Disney <v Speaker 2>simulator ride exactly. <v Speaker 19>Thirteen well, eleven, ten, nine, eight, seven, six five four, No, <v Speaker 19>not jumped ahead, Here we go, King King and King. <v Speaker 2>Busha. Gamma. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, that would have been a nice alternate title, The <v Speaker 4>Incredible Gamma. Oh, the danger light is flashing, doge fifteen <v Speaker 4>thousand Gammy units. <v Speaker 2>How do you feel happened? Just stopped? <v Speaker 4>So he just got administered Gammy? <v Speaker 2>I guess so fucking crime. Oh my god, Jesus Christ, <v Speaker 2>it's so fucking nauseatingly slow. Peeky. <v Speaker 4>I was gonna take him, my cat. We're going to <v Speaker 4>watch him undo all this now after we have to <v Speaker 4>watch him do it. Wow, there's something called the dissolve Ken. <v Speaker 2>Well, you know, Ken's got a you know hour and <v Speaker 2>a half to fill really time commercial breaks. <v Speaker 4>So just when I gave him credit for delaying the <v Speaker 4>big green Monster scenes, I'm starting to get a little anxious. <v Speaker 4>Fun move past, doctor Banner. <v Speaker 2>Uh, stop stop delaying. Let's just get on moving. <v Speaker 8>Pal. <v Speaker 4>I don't understand what if anything just happened. Okay, now <v Speaker 4>he's trying to see if that added nothing. He's still <v Speaker 4>a bitch. <v Speaker 2>I hope you know that. <v Speaker 4>This is basically Hogan with dinabal right, that's that's his <v Speaker 4>bill bakeste Harry's gamma, Terry's gamma was a dinable. <v Speaker 2>Someone used to someone needs to fucking shrink his head <v Speaker 2>a little bit. It's distracting. It is distracting, especially during <v Speaker 2>these long shots, because. <v Speaker 4>Lou Rigno doesn't have a massive melon. No, well he does, <v Speaker 4>maybe maybe he just doesn't look like he does. <v Speaker 2>He does, but he's got a massive body to go <v Speaker 2>with it. Kinky bink and gink and wink and gink <v Speaker 2>and ginking. <v Speaker 4>The other day at the lab, administer myself with gamma, <v Speaker 4>then run out into the rain. <v Speaker 2>Here's this is the this is the cheap process shot <v Speaker 2>he was talking about coming out. Oh yeah, lightning, So <v Speaker 2>all this this is not. He's not actually drying. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I think you still beam. <v Speaker 4>Ringing in doctor banners head of the others who were mandaged, <v Speaker 4>who managed those feats of strength so deeply unsettling to him? <v Speaker 4>Oh did it happened again? This fucking car blew out <v Speaker 4>these fucking tires. Man on these cars. I think it's <v Speaker 4>if you're one of the Gamma Ray types you malfunction cars. <v Speaker 2>That would make sense. Actually some connection here. <v Speaker 4>There's no way that happens twice to him. <v Speaker 2>And to that other woman. He's so angry. <v Speaker 4>It's pouring and he doesn't have a Tiret's start cursing <v Speaker 4>like Ralphie's dad here. Oh fudge, Yeah, so like Ralphie baby, <v Speaker 4>I should say. <v Speaker 2>Except I didn't say fudge. It was the word not. <v Speaker 4>It's here once again, time of year, so. <v Speaker 2>Happy not God damn it. Son of a bitch, so angry. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, one tells me he's gonna find a common <v Speaker 2>denominator here. <v Speaker 4>Praying him up the car to jack his tire. <v Speaker 2>M hm m hm m m m m. <v Speaker 6>M hm. <v Speaker 9>M hm hm. <v Speaker 2>Hm. I wonder <v Speaker 2>if maybe that maybe that's maybe Hogan should done Gamma instead. <v Speaker 4>Absolutely hide the ball. Right for eyes, he's bending the crowbar. <v Speaker 4>Did Hogan him do that? Bend a crowbar like that? <v Speaker 2>Maybe he did? Look at that. <v Speaker 4>No, first time we've seen. And you're right, we have <v Speaker 4>to like kind of cut into him emerging, not witness <v Speaker 4>the transformation. <v Speaker 2>But it works. <v Speaker 4>Look up big he look, it's eight foot giant. <v Speaker 2>But it works though, you know, and that's the thing <v Speaker 2>about it, It does work. The way they added together, <v Speaker 2>you know, you're able to suspend this with up. He <v Speaker 2>fucking rips off the goddamn tire and tosses it like <v Speaker 2>a ragged doll. <v Speaker 4>And this is what wrestling promoters saw when they looked <v Speaker 4>at Yep, Terry Bulayer returning from his sojourn to Cocoa Beach. <v Speaker 4>There's a hell of a time to walk into a <v Speaker 4>small time wrestling outfits with that kind of build and <v Speaker 4>this on the air, a couple lax handles even from Lufigno. <v Speaker 4>Yeah the car, Oh, here he goes detroying this thing. <v Speaker 4>I guess he doesn't have to worry about driving home, <v Speaker 4>not at all. And now he's going to prove he <v Speaker 4>can lift the car. <v Speaker 2>Look at this. <v Speaker 4>That looks cool, looks good. Pushes it down the hill. <v Speaker 2>Yeah there was a hydraulic thing that that helped with <v Speaker 2>the lift. But still it looks great. Brother, it does explodes. <v Speaker 6>The Hulk. <v Speaker 2>He's getting heat, that's right, brother, Gang Gang Kan Kang, <v Speaker 2>Gang Gan Kang said this on CBS, right, Yeah, I <v Speaker 2>feel the heat on CBS with the incredible Hulk. But it's a fairly disperseed. Hear <v Speaker 2>the shots we saw from the beginning. <v Speaker 4>The feet walking through the woods, the green feet. That <v Speaker 4>was a term of the deal too. Terry could never <v Speaker 4>wear purple and. <v Speaker 2>Green are you serious? Yes, wow, little. <v Speaker 4>Girl fishing, she's in for surprise Jesus is to catch <v Speaker 4>a predator. <v Speaker 2>It looks like a like a like a twenty twenty <v Speaker 2>dramatization of like an abduction. I mean, thank god, thank god, <v Speaker 2>the whole wasn't red. Can you imagine? I know? And <v Speaker 2>they said, no red, it's a fucking nightmare. Okay, girl, <v Speaker 2>fucking go fishing. <v Speaker 4>They slowed it down Fregno's approach, hovering over the girl. <v Speaker 4>She doesn't know yet. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>so he bladed his arm like dusty. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, this would stand out in television in the seventies <v Speaker 4>for sure. Oh yeah, but they managed to get this <v Speaker 4>guy to look like seems mortified by the sight of <v Speaker 4>his own blood. <v Speaker 2>Well on face. <v Speaker 4>Doesn't realize he's all green and ship. No m He's <v Speaker 4>running around like doctor Banner, throwing people like one hundred yards. <v Speaker 3>What up? <v Speaker 2>Right now his hands being to changed color again, Right, <v Speaker 2>he's starting to calm down. That should always doing is <v Speaker 2>washing off the grease paints, right, although you can't do <v Speaker 2>that in water. It's waterproof. <v Speaker 4>Oh, we're back to David Banner. That was a good <v Speaker 4>device to switch. Switch to look up. He's got the <v Speaker 4>green eyes, but he's back as a human. <v Speaker 2>Those were old. Those were old school contact lenses, hard <v Speaker 2>contact lenses. I don't know how the fuck they did that. <v Speaker 2>I don't know how anyone did that back then. Never <v Speaker 2>need my flimsy ones. It's back to normal. Now, take <v Speaker 2>a powder. <v Speaker 4>I forgot that about the Hulk. Is that once he <v Speaker 4>calms down, it goes away. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, well, and then usually usually he goes through <v Speaker 2>like usually the the I mean in in in the <v Speaker 2>movies at least and whatnot. It's like it's like a <v Speaker 2>seizure where he doesn't really remember what happened. Right, that's <v Speaker 2>a temporary amnesia. Yeh huh. Why does she even take <v Speaker 2>in a shower? And I guess like they's like, we're <v Speaker 2>gonna see your tits brother. Oh man, David Banner is <v Speaker 2>bleeding from the arm at her front door. <v Speaker 6>Right, Oh please, it was a bullet went through. <v Speaker 4>What happened because it was a bullet and I guess <v Speaker 4>I went through. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. I just woke up. Shot. <v Speaker 6>We're going to get you to a hospital. <v Speaker 2>Oh wait, I'm okay, Oh call a hospital. <v Speaker 6>I can't go to the hospital. <v Speaker 2>Why not? So I have gamma because I'm gamma positive. <v Speaker 2>So much for sucking him? Yeah right, that wound. You know, <v Speaker 2>it would actually be great for the wound if you <v Speaker 2>just if you took your clothes off right there and <v Speaker 2>just rovings on it. It might make it feel bad <v Speaker 2>to be there. Had to be a seventies Hulk porn. <v Speaker 4>Oh, I can't imagine there wouldn't be. Yeah, cross makeup job. Yeah, yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 4>of course, incredible bulk. <v Speaker 2>There we go. When did you say you were I <v Speaker 2>don't know. <v Speaker 21>I'll tell you this one looks like it's for about <v Speaker 21>three Oh he's. <v Speaker 4>Got superhealing powers too. Was the mark of any good superhero? <v Speaker 2>Oh? Yes, very strange, very strange, strange. Yeah, what did <v Speaker 2>happen Gamma last night? <v Speaker 6>After you left? <v Speaker 2>I gammed myself. <v Speaker 4>I'm surprised never happened. <v Speaker 2>I'm surprised. <v Speaker 4>In the late seventies early eighties, none of the territories <v Speaker 4>got freak. <v Speaker 2>Now to do an angle? I know I was there <v Speaker 2>how he never got like how the first time he <v Speaker 2>actually something the wrestling was with a w BF. Gotta <v Speaker 2>be a story there. He hadn't been offered at some <v Speaker 2>point in. <v Speaker 9>Every case they matched, And when and Laura had. <v Speaker 2>The accident, I wasn't anger. I had no anger when <v Speaker 2>when Laura died. I felt joy when she died. That's <v Speaker 2>why I couldn't save her, because I was happy. <v Speaker 7>I'll explain it over anxious. <v Speaker 4>Well, let me go to my only in the seventies refrigerator. <v Speaker 2>Here, get some orange juice. <v Speaker 4>He's telling her how much gamma he put in himself <v Speaker 4>and she is freaking out. <v Speaker 2>Okay, can you get a different shirt please? He looks <v Speaker 2>like a goof. <v Speaker 4>So dehydrated. He's down in orange juice. <v Speaker 20>I was driving home, had a flat tire. <v Speaker 2>I was changing it. <v Speaker 4>Yes, And don't explain how you got shot in the arm. <v Speaker 9>I was standing in the woods like this. <v Speaker 1>What happened in between? <v Speaker 2>I got angry and thirsty? Apparently? What happened in between? Well, <v Speaker 2>I was in Mexico, off the grid. Actually, I suppose <v Speaker 2>his brain probably was in Mexico off the grid. <v Speaker 6>Something else, something. <v Speaker 1>What David try to remember? <v Speaker 6>Oh, I remember. <v Speaker 2>Feeling incredibly strong. I remember feeling strong. Be continued. I <v Speaker 2>do think they did that to be continued. Well, this <v Speaker 2>is so the ones that I downloaded, I compiled them together. <v Speaker 2>The ones that I downloaded were basically there was a <v Speaker 2>two so after they premiered the movie, whenever it was <v Speaker 2>aired on television, it was airs are two separate episodes, <v Speaker 2>so they re edited it. And the ones that I <v Speaker 2>downloaded were two separate episodes that I just put together. <v Speaker 6>Got it, Yeah, baking and. <v Speaker 7>Steve Frankl just finished and pressurization. <v Speaker 2>They're back at the lab. Now, what do you mean? <v Speaker 20>Well, whatever happened before might again, and if it does, <v Speaker 20>whatried about. <v Speaker 4>And becoming the Hulk again to protect her if he <v Speaker 4>suddenly becomes a big green. <v Speaker 2>As long as she got groceries right. Meanwhile, all I <v Speaker 2>got some stuff here apple? Was he fucking five? He <v Speaker 2>bought apple juice for him? <v Speaker 8>How many did you say you injected into yourself? <v Speaker 2>She bought him go Go squeezes too? Yeah? Okay, uh <v Speaker 2>where gogurt? Sweet potato puffs? Some pirates. Booty righted the <v Speaker 2>calibrator up to the last click three thousand. <v Speaker 7>Yeah, it's like the electronic microscope have been modified for <v Speaker 7>higher strength. <v Speaker 6>Have you seen have been modified the radiology. <v Speaker 2>Unit in excess? <v Speaker 4>With three he's learning that the radiology unit was adjusted <v Speaker 4>an excess of what he thought he was giving himself <v Speaker 4>to go. <v Speaker 15>I did he get it? <v Speaker 2>Almost two million units of Yeah, reality, Jack gotta want it. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>damn right, that's an integrated conditioning program. If I ever <v Speaker 2>heard one gamma. <v Speaker 4>Pro gamma pro man, you got it, there's one bad <v Speaker 4>gabba jamma and he's locked him. She's locked him in <v Speaker 4>a room or in a trailer. <v Speaker 2>I guess you could say, let's do your DNA scan again. Okay, <v Speaker 2>some tests, David. <v Speaker 4>Okay, it's a little distracted by what you just told him, <v Speaker 4>which is right, administered like three times the amount of gamma. <v Speaker 2>Radiating incredible amount of nuclear you know, radiation. <v Speaker 4>I don't know. <v Speaker 7>I don't know, but whatever it is, we're going to <v Speaker 7>get you back to normal. <v Speaker 2>Well, he was likely cancer free. <v Speaker 15>Reverse the process. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I don't want to change him. <v Speaker 3>I don't know what I've blundered into, but it could <v Speaker 3>be the natural outgrowth of all our research. <v Speaker 2>We have to try and make it happen. <v Speaker 10>Again so that we can observe it. <v Speaker 4>Yes, we have to try and make it happen again, <v Speaker 4>so we can observe in the laboratory setting. It's really sensible. <v Speaker 7>Look, I know you have feelings of enormous strength. I <v Speaker 7>just feel that there are too many unknown factors here. <v Speaker 9>We really do not know what we're. <v Speaker 7>Getting ourselves into. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god, he invokes Benjamin Franklin. That's right. <v Speaker 4>Look, he didn't know what he was doing when he <v Speaker 4>put the kite in the thunder storm either. But it's <v Speaker 4>for science. <v Speaker 6>It's right ray reversal. <v Speaker 2>But we might have found what we've been looking for. <v Speaker 2>We can't just throw it away without investigating it first. <v Speaker 2>Are you being scientific about. <v Speaker 15>This or you're letting your emotions run away with you? <v Speaker 2>Yes? <v Speaker 9>Try all right? <v Speaker 7>What happens if we tap into this hidden strength? <v Speaker 2>What happens? <v Speaker 9>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I don't know what happens if we tap into this <v Speaker 2>hidden strength. I don't know. <v Speaker 16>It was built with stand the pressure of a thousand <v Speaker 16>people below. <v Speaker 2>The ocean, no doubt, Elena. It's like inside a bank. <v Speaker 4>Bull's assuring Elena that he's inside of a bank vault. <v Speaker 2>Essentially say only he'll die. Who cares? But how does <v Speaker 2>he know how to activate that in himself. I don't <v Speaker 2>think he does. Okay, all right, he's talking to her <v Speaker 2>like he knows how to that can happen. <v Speaker 8>Reconstruct everything that happened last night. <v Speaker 2>Okay, he's going to reconstruct what happened to try to <v Speaker 2>trick got it all right? It was dark, make it dark? <v Speaker 2>What's that matter? <v Speaker 4>He's going to recreate all the He doesn't know what <v Speaker 4>sets it off. So the fact that it was dark <v Speaker 4>may have been part of it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I guess what about the equipment in there? So <v Speaker 2>he's gonna put fucking water. They're gonna make it rain, <v Speaker 2>will sprinklers. <v Speaker 20>There's no way I can make. <v Speaker 9>It rain in there. <v Speaker 2>Don't worry about it. <v Speaker 9>I've got an idea. <v Speaker 5>Give me a second toe. <v Speaker 4>It's got an idea to make it rain. It's gonna <v Speaker 4>he's gonna take fucking take a match to a to <v Speaker 4>the sprinkler. <v Speaker 9>M David, what are you doing in there? <v Speaker 2>Does it opened a pipe? Oh wow? <v Speaker 20>Pounds of pressure behind the main water feed. <v Speaker 2>I'm opening it up a little. <v Speaker 4>It's gonna let it open just a bit so it <v Speaker 4>sprays out. <v Speaker 6>Anything. <v Speaker 2>It's still not hulk nothing on. Doesn't he know that. <v Speaker 4>She has to hit him? Whether a finisher before he <v Speaker 4>can come home. <v Speaker 2>You know he's gonna he's gonna. There's gonna be a <v Speaker 2>little more heat segment than this. Right last, there was <v Speaker 2>a light there we go. Come on, come on, where, <v Speaker 2>come on me? Come on, my tis. <v Speaker 4>It would be funny if that was like a female <v Speaker 4>version of like suck, like, come on my ticks, leave <v Speaker 4>me alone? <v Speaker 2>Powers off? There we go, power hour? <v Speaker 9>All right, now, increase the load of the power grid <v Speaker 9>a little at a time. <v Speaker 2>Okay, it's increasing the load. You're damn right you okay, yeah, <v Speaker 2>I'm fine. <v Speaker 4>There's just sucking. A lightning storm going on all around now, <v Speaker 4>I'm sucking with questions. That's happening, all right. That's one <v Speaker 4>hour one hour for hour, nightmare, David. <v Speaker 9>We'd better stop. <v Speaker 8>I don't see any purpose in. <v Speaker 20>Going on. <v Speaker 16>Just a little longer. <v Speaker 2>It's gonna turn into Clarence the Guardian Angel or what? <v Speaker 9>Yeah, what's wrong? I don't know. <v Speaker 2>Oh, he's such a bitch. Why wou't it work? He's <v Speaker 2>screaming at her, not her fault. <v Speaker 6>Did you draw yourself off and get some fresh clothes <v Speaker 6>out of the locker? <v Speaker 2>Okay, won't you shut up? Exactly? He's gonna give up there. <v Speaker 2>It is turkey on wheat, Turkey on whole wheat, motherfucker <v Speaker 2>on whole wheat. <v Speaker 4>You know, director Ken Johnson got his hands on some <v Speaker 4>of that. <v Speaker 2>Listen. You know they made extras for him school, you know. <v Speaker 2>You know he's off screen right now, fucking just chomping down, <v Speaker 2>like three of them are built. Yep, we'll do it again, <v Speaker 2>and I won't do it again. There's time. Let me <v Speaker 2>meet your sandwich, he said. He's got a subtle manner <v Speaker 2>about him, does he. I'm sorry, I'm sorry that I <v Speaker 2>said I'd come on your tits right. <v Speaker 18>Look, you may be in there alone, but we're in <v Speaker 18>this together. <v Speaker 6>It's nice as usual. <v Speaker 2>Can I be in you together? King, King, King, King, <v Speaker 2>King King King, Yeah yeah, King King, kank, thank you. <v Speaker 2>I could nigreen war leave your electrodes on? Are you kidding? <v Speaker 2>Are you kidding? David? I wear electrodes and nothing else <v Speaker 2>to bed. <v Speaker 4>Right, it's just such a sense of failure being conveyed here, <v Speaker 4>King King, kN King, Okay, Oh, I'll guess we'll never <v Speaker 4>know what happened with Bruce Banner and his lovely assistant <v Speaker 4>and the Gamma Ray project. Right, we'll see you next <v Speaker 4>time in that ass yeh, Who's is that her? Or <v Speaker 4>is that somebody else over there? I think that's her her? <v Speaker 4>Doctor Banner is getting some some shut eye. <v Speaker 20>Or is he? <v Speaker 2>All the. <v Speaker 4>Brain wave readings are staying active, and then we cut <v Speaker 4>to black, come back. <v Speaker 2>To be right back right after this word from our sponsor. <v Speaker 2>You're watching You're watching the Incredible Hulk on CBS. Jane <v Speaker 2>loves Dove soap. Okay, more dreams, more flashbacks here she's <v Speaker 2>observing him closely. <v Speaker 7>Five Doctor Bennat began rapid eye movement indicating dream state, <v Speaker 7>not considerable agitation and heavy increase in both GSR and. <v Speaker 2>His increased readings while sleeping. <v Speaker 7>Gs R is also beginning to register apparently the dreams <v Speaker 7>upsetting it. <v Speaker 6>I think he's having a nightmare. <v Speaker 2>Got that soft, fuzzy look right. <v Speaker 4>Going through, kicking the car again and trying to get <v Speaker 4>her out of the burning car, trying to lift it. <v Speaker 2>Kane. <v Speaker 4>Maybe the eyes open and they're green, and the machines <v Speaker 4>out of its mind. <v Speaker 2>Levels off. <v Speaker 4>She's rendered silent malfunction. She assuments it's malfunction and bone <v Speaker 4>the green fist fires are right through the glass. <v Speaker 2>And he is on the move. Wow, David, David, is <v Speaker 2>that you're in danger? <v Speaker 6>Yes, Doctor Benner is no longer in the pressure chamber. <v Speaker 2>He has metamorphosized into. <v Speaker 4>He's metamorphosized, alright, straordinary creature. <v Speaker 2>I love that she doesn't run out the building. I <v Speaker 2>know she's still concerned with her fucking scientific discovery. Here. <v Speaker 2>He's got scientific observations to make you know. I'd be gone. <v Speaker 2>Science ain't worth This ship. <v Speaker 4>Is hulk wrecks the diner car that is in God, <v Speaker 4>a child. <v Speaker 2>Still a child, throwing a monster standrum which is a <v Speaker 2>stealing corning from doesn't hold him piping and holds barred. Yeah, pounding, <v Speaker 2>He just tries to lay pipe with right, jo Severan's <v Speaker 2>just like a chromium. <v Speaker 6>All or steel. <v Speaker 7>And yet this creature is able to make incident by <v Speaker 7>using both hands together. <v Speaker 4>I seem to recall him breaking down a door this <v Speaker 4>way too, with a NAT's handle. <v Speaker 6>Contained in the chamber. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, he probably did. He destroyed the cars and stuff. <v Speaker 7>Right fuckingly broken off. <v Speaker 2>I can't get through that, lady. <v Speaker 4>He's loose, Oh my god, right through the window. I <v Speaker 4>don't think we're starting to see the original uh seeds <v Speaker 4>being planted for selling those hulk fists for such a <v Speaker 4>big deal a while ago. <v Speaker 2>Oh, yes, I like those of a considerably larger. <v Speaker 1>Orders, like being caged out. <v Speaker 6>It's moving towards the elder hatch area. <v Speaker 1>It's I don't know how long that hatch can hold it. <v Speaker 2>Well, not anymore. <v Speaker 4>His slow motion his hit. When the slow motion him <v Speaker 4>it allows, he's much more believable. Yes, And if you <v Speaker 4>saw him doing these things in real live action, that <v Speaker 4>probably wouldn't look that. <v Speaker 2>Devastating. <v Speaker 3>There's no blood that I can see. <v Speaker 2>It seems to be driven back his rage to escape. <v Speaker 6>He's going. <v Speaker 2>He's going to this. It's a tabolism. <v Speaker 6>Must be going in an extraordinary rate, which would explain <v Speaker 6>why David's. <v Speaker 2>Quickly mm hmm. Here he goes and there is the <v Speaker 2>pealing open the door. He is free. He has loose. <v Speaker 4>What's he gonna do? Traps, just like Terry had back. <v Speaker 4>It's as much about the traps as it is the biceps. <v Speaker 4>That's all right, it's all right, munster man. <v Speaker 2>That's it's. <v Speaker 6>It's okay, it's okay. <v Speaker 4>Can she George the animal steel? Elizabeth? <v Speaker 6>Can you understand me? <v Speaker 14>Oh? <v Speaker 2>Can you understand? <v Speaker 9>Can you speak? Ah? <v Speaker 20>Okay? <v Speaker 2>Only burp o lord mm hmmm. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, sounds to me that remember the cinemat crossover. M <v Speaker 4>you gonna do what you're gonna do? <v Speaker 1>Mhm, can you come with me? <v Speaker 2>Heather clem trying to get him into bed. Here, shut <v Speaker 2>shut he She has managed to slow him down substantially. Oh, <v Speaker 2>he's turning you you you you. She's just standing there <v Speaker 2>like this is normal, right, like this is okay behavior. <v Speaker 4>She lets out a huge exhal on the return of <v Speaker 4>doctor banners. <v Speaker 2>All right, you're back now. Of course, she's completely incredulous <v Speaker 2>as to what just happened. Yep, that's a good commercial break, <v Speaker 2>very nice, a very all right, back to the Dharma initiative. <v Speaker 6>I mean I was sleeping, you were dreaming? <v Speaker 2>What I was like dreaming the indicator. <v Speaker 4>She's shilling in the EEG from when I was asleep. <v Speaker 2>I don't remember. Try try, oh, shut up, try try <v Speaker 2>it might help us understand. Yes, Oh, everything was the accident, Lauren, <v Speaker 2>I were driving. <v Speaker 6>It was the accident. She was trapped in the car. <v Speaker 4>Did you feel anything that's an got frustration, extreme. <v Speaker 2>Anger, extreame anger, remember feeling? What is it anger? <v Speaker 6>I was angry? <v Speaker 2>Oh I know is I was angry? <v Speaker 6>And last night I was angry too. <v Speaker 9>I was. <v Speaker 4>I was totally if he looked into this, But now <v Speaker 4>that I kind of realized there was, this pilot film <v Speaker 4>really is focusing on just that transition from Banner to <v Speaker 4>Hulk and understanding it. What does the rest of the <v Speaker 4>whole series look like? Does he like fight bad guys? <v Speaker 4>Does he robberies? <v Speaker 2>Yeah? Yeah, he he becomes like he you know, he <v Speaker 2>becomes like an action hero. <v Speaker 4>Does he run into any other supernatural enemies or does <v Speaker 4>he battle humans? <v Speaker 3>No? <v Speaker 2>They mostly again they mostly kept away from that kind <v Speaker 2>of stuff from kind of more the comic book he <v Speaker 2>sci fi elements. It was that would but he would <v Speaker 2>you know, he'd he'd fight bad guys and you know, <v Speaker 2>conquer bad guy eyes and whatnot. <v Speaker 6>That is just what this creature is like. <v Speaker 18>It's like, it's like a childish. <v Speaker 4>Sub human said, Hulk is like a childish sub human. <v Speaker 4>That sounds like a professional wrestling enough from. <v Speaker 2>Linda Hogan, that's not possible. She kind of gives off. <v Speaker 2>Linda Hogan vibes. <v Speaker 9>Off. <v Speaker 4>Hey, they're concluding it must be his anger that triggers it. <v Speaker 20>What do you know? <v Speaker 2>So like, yeah, the the second one, like like part <v Speaker 2>of it is this you know, as we'll see at <v Speaker 2>the end here in spoiler alert, like he runs off. <v Speaker 2>You know, there's an element of the fugitive in the <v Speaker 2>series in that he's a down right now over the <v Speaker 2>fact that he can't control it. If he's anger, that <v Speaker 2>triggers it controls anger, right, and so you know he's <v Speaker 2>he's like a mix of trying to you know, find <v Speaker 2>a cure for himself, but also yeah, you know he's <v Speaker 2>he like you know them kill kills, bad guys or whatever. <v Speaker 4>This warrid is going to kill somebody. And she says <v Speaker 4>David Banner is not a killer, and he says, well, <v Speaker 4>we're not dealing with David Banner and we're not dealing <v Speaker 4>with Terry Boley dealing with That's right, won't kill I <v Speaker 4>wonder if Terry ever thought of this and was like, <v Speaker 4>you know what, brothers a lot more peril than my thought, dude, <v Speaker 4>in that Terry Bulay cannot be blamed for things the <v Speaker 4>Hulk does. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, brother, I mean, how can I know, how could <v Speaker 2>how could Terry Blay be blamed for on the fans <v Speaker 2>if it's who during the fans Broler, right, I struggled, <v Speaker 2>just like Bruce Benner did do to kind of keep <v Speaker 2>AI in on this thing, kind of gotten to all <v Speaker 2>this thing back in Broler logical treatment to try to <v Speaker 2>counteract the gamma rays. He dialed up the gamma rays. <v Speaker 2>All right, problem, what is this guy? <v Speaker 6>Some police here? <v Speaker 2>Brother, probably that fucking old nanny threw in the water. <v Speaker 2>Yeah right, that's the guy right there. <v Speaker 17>Doctor Banner. <v Speaker 6>Doctor, yeah, Scotty to drive. <v Speaker 2>Up here, will you please? We'll do sir. There it is. <v Speaker 4>Highway patrol pulling it up. A lab fucking chip that's coming. <v Speaker 2>Up here, these guys. What's going on? <v Speaker 6>All right here? We are all right? <v Speaker 2>Nine one one, Yeah? Are you doctor Banner? <v Speaker 11>Today we found an automobile registered to you overturned on <v Speaker 11>the north side across. <v Speaker 2>I understand that you are the proprietor of a h <v Speaker 2>of A, an institute of scientific research. Sarah, what are you? <v Speaker 2>Who are your fingers? I know I can't say that <v Speaker 2>I understand what you're talking about. As he's talking to <v Speaker 2>the cop, the journalist walks right up by the conversation. <v Speaker 9>I thought a friend had taken it. Your friend wouldn't <v Speaker 9>take a shoe about the size. <v Speaker 2>He's got a footprint that's a plastic from Holt car. <v Speaker 10>There were many of them in the mister McGee, we <v Speaker 10>have no authoritative that those footprints are real, and we <v Speaker 10>do not want to start a panic. <v Speaker 2>That's right, it's good. <v Speaker 4>We don't want to start a panic around here. This <v Speaker 4>journalist wants to play it up. That's the constant tension. <v Speaker 4>Law enforcement wants to play it down. Journalists want to <v Speaker 4>play it up. <v Speaker 2>Right, No, no, I don't. It's a fact of life. Yep. <v Speaker 7>You have twenty four hours to arrange to have the <v Speaker 7>debris clear, that the highway patrol and take care of it, <v Speaker 7>and you will be built. <v Speaker 2>For It's worried about who's gonna have to pay the <v Speaker 2>damage the bills? I mean not this fucking he Isn't <v Speaker 2>he paying the bill either way? So like, why doesn't <v Speaker 2>you just freaking let the cops do and I'll pay <v Speaker 2>the bill. Now, he wants to talk to <v Speaker 2>this guy. He wants to know what happens because he <v Speaker 2>doesn't know what happened. <v Speaker 9>I can picked the man up and threw him un <v Speaker 9>estimated thirty yards looking. <v Speaker 4>Gordon solely over here reporting out, Oh my god, he <v Speaker 4>does look like Gordon. Isn't he like young Gordon? <v Speaker 9>Are you sure that you don't know a little something <v Speaker 9>about this? I mean the hawk's footprint was that. <v Speaker 2>Hulk's foot printed? Is funny? <v Speaker 4>How we just call him Hulk like that? He Hulk <v Speaker 4>got his name from a random journalist to his trying <v Speaker 4>to characterize it's funny. <v Speaker 6>Oh, mister, have you been inoculated for? <v Speaker 2>Brother? I'm sorry? <v Speaker 8>What? <v Speaker 2>What where you knocking? <v Speaker 9>What you see? <v Speaker 6>We have a live German culture incubating inside. <v Speaker 4>I have a lot of coronavirus in here, Sir wouldn't <v Speaker 4>walk again? What does he just like have a little <v Speaker 4>stroke there? <v Speaker 2>Yeah? <v Speaker 9>Anytime you. <v Speaker 2>That's a good line. There we go. <v Speaker 4>Anytime you feel an interview coming on, you get in touch. <v Speaker 4>Sounds like you're boys on that fucking complete hul Cogan. <v Speaker 6>At least we know where the bullet wound came from. <v Speaker 2>The creature won't kill, hasn't killed, or won't kill? What <v Speaker 2>is the hulk? What can we say about the hult? <v Speaker 7>And all it did was break his rifle and throw <v Speaker 7>him in the lake. <v Speaker 1>It won't kill you, won't kill. <v Speaker 2>He doesn't mind. Hulk won't kill. <v Speaker 6>But I want to make sure that that never happens again. <v Speaker 2>I want to be doctor Banner, not Doctor Jekyll. Okay, <v Speaker 2>we have to we we don't need to. We were <v Speaker 2>to be reminded of the connection between doctor Jackel mister Hyde. <v Speaker 4>Instead of leaving, the journalist just crouches in the brush. Absolutely, <v Speaker 4>it's a cigarette. Tremendous looking at the building, internal Frank <v Speaker 4>driving monologue, I couldn't help but think there might be <v Speaker 4>something going on here for. <v Speaker 18>A little while. <v Speaker 2>No, he left the evening, Okay, good, still watching and <v Speaker 2>where the hell was I right? Exactly? <v Speaker 4>I thought as they drove off, I better leave this brush. <v Speaker 4>And then it shows him put a toothbrush on the grass. <v Speaker 2>And this one I mean, leaves the hair brush as well. <v Speaker 4>Okay, so this journalist is going to break in. <v Speaker 2>Hey, you got to get the scoop right. Culver Institute <v Speaker 2>kind of is like the Silver Dome. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, you can see in the window a big damaged <v Speaker 4>fuselage that hulk was in and broke to pieces. <v Speaker 2>The hell is going on right here? Right? How that happened? <v Speaker 9>I'll crack it up? <v Speaker 2>Exposing himself to Gamma rays again? Why is he doing this? <v Speaker 9>No? <v Speaker 6>Why not? <v Speaker 4>I don't know because it freaked him out what happened <v Speaker 4>the last time.
