They may be sending players overseas or to the G League, because you know, how much talent can we put on our bench. But the Clippers, you know, that's the Paul George trade. The gift that keeps on giving is is that going to be the Herschel Walker of NBA trades. Now, it's not the worst trade because you know, if you look at maybe Kareem going from the Bucks to the Lakers. Now Milwaukee got some quality players, but you still traded away Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Will Chamberlain got traded. The Saint Louis Hawks traded the rights to Bill Russell to the Celtics. I believe there's also Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish going to the Celtics. They were with Paris was with Golden State, and Golden State I think had the second pick overall and the Celtics ended up taking Kevin McHale. So there's trades in NBA history, but the Paul George one. And you know, Shay Gilgess Alexander, You're like, okay, good player. So I'm at Kentucky. Now he's going to win another MVP year and they may win another title. Yes, Paulie, this.

So you have another probably four years of these guys as championship contenders.

The Bengals top heavy with contracts with their quarterback and two wide receivers, are now an interior defensive line lineman. But the draft coming up later on this week, of course, and I think the Bengals have had a first round pick every year since nineteen eighty nine, and unless something changes, this would be the first year that they might not have a first round pick. By the way, Will Anderson is now the first non quarterback to reach fifty million dollars a year, and that's a one hundred and thirty four million dollar guarantee. With that contract, Danielle Hunter will make just over forty million. And we don't know what's gonna happen with CJ. Stroud, So imagine you've got two defensive players combined making ninety million dollars and you're not quite sure what's going to happen with CJ. Stroud. Now this drives the Texan fans crazy whenever I bring this up. Oh, they're going to extend him, They're not going to trade him. I didn't say they were going to trade him. I just said I would wait another year. And it looks like that's probably what they're doing, going to wait another year.

He can bet on himself or you know, I can't give him full price here, like I'm not giving him sixty million dollars, not with what I saw, and it seems like he's regressing. Now. You can say offensive line, you can say injuries to wide receiver, and I understand all of that, but we can't look at him in a vacuum and say that doesn't affect other players on other teams, their quarterbacks. Because how many teams have great offensive lines? Great offensive lines? Very few five So everybody can say, oh, you know, the offensive line's not that good, or we got an injury to one of our weapons. Okay, that happens with every team to a certain degree. But this is where I want to see if c j Stroud is going to be have a contract commensurate to the other players that he was drafted with. I want to see another year. I know that we look at it. Oh, that's a slap in the face. You know they extend you normally after three years. Yes, yes you can, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, you can do that. In this particular instance, I'm not doing it. I got to see something more. Yes, Paul, if he go.

Speaker 4: Back to his rookie year, he could have got the contract extension then, but it's not available. His rookie year forty one hundred yards, twenty three touchdowns, only five picks. He was eighth in the MVP voting, eighth, but last year three thousand yards, nineteen touchdowns, eight picks. And like you said, this is the spring where it's either you extend them a year early like Mahomes or Burrow or Josh Allen, or you wait for that fourth year and let it play out.

And I'll go back to when he was in college and look, I co signed on it and said, man, that guy is a great player, the potential to be a great player, and I think it's still there. But you just saw Will Anderson get extended, and I wonder what CJ. Stroud and his agent their angle is going to be. Now, there are defensive players that you can take get them on a rookie deal. When Dexter Lawrence is good, he's really good. But I got to keep him on the field. When he's on the field. Over the last three years, the Giants eighth in sack rate, fifteenth in pressure rate. Okay, I'm fine with that, but I just at that age. I think if he was twenty five, then I'd be more interested than he's twenty eight. Now I'm giving up the tenth pick. Overall, I've got my quarterback and my two receivers, and now I have my interior defensive lineman my money. Now they had to do something defensively.

But either you're going to keep him or trade him. Then you know he ends up going to Baltimore, so he stays in the division against you. I didn't like the move for the Bengals, but they want to do something now because Joe Burrow is like, hey, let's do something now. It feels like there's an urgency with Joe Burrow being on the clock. That you went to a Super Bowl and it seems like you're getting further and further away. You got to stay healthy. You do have two great receivers. But and maybe this is one of those Hey we got to do something here. Dexter Lawrence wanted out of New York, wants to be compensated. And did they give him a contract extension? I believe, or are they going to Trent Williams just got a contract extension. Chefty reporting that two year deal fifty million dollars. I think with the forty nine ers. Yes, Paul.

I got a quarterback on a rookie deal last year, I think for neighbors before he gets extended. If Cam Scattaboo is your starting running back, he's on a rookie deal as well. You got Abdul Carter in there on a rookie deal. You got John Harball coming in. It feels like there is momentum there, There is something there. You're not winning this year, but that next year that could be where we look back and go. They made some smart moves here, Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 1: I know when I saw the Dexter Lawrence was unhappy with this situation with the Giants. And then all of a sudden you start to see, well, who's interested in him? And then I saw an article that said, hey, the Giants are confident that they can keep Dexter Lawrence. And then not too much time elapse where I go, Dexter Lawrence, it's going to the Bengals for the tenth pick overall, okay, and if you're the Giants, I can't pass that up. You know, you got the fifth pick and the tenth pick. I love it. I mean, and it always goes back to what I've said before. It's nice to have draft picks. You know what's really good to have a GM who knows how to make draft picks. That's the key. A lot of teams have draft picks. Are you any good at drafting? But the fifth in the tenth you should get two starters in this draft. And this is a draft. Now, it's not sexy. You got Mendoza and Jeremiah Love those are the two names. You got all the Ohio State players. But it's not one of those glamorous NFL drafts. But this might be a draft five years down the road where we look back and go, God, they got him in the third round. You got that guy in the second round. That's the feeling I get with this draft. It's not top heavy. You're gonna have linebacker, edge rushers. You got one marquee running back, you got one marquee quarterback. It's rare when you have that. You got a lot of defensive players, offensive linemen. There are some wide receivers, but nobody who really jumps out and you go, you got to get that guy. But this might be a draft where years from now you look back and say they built their Super Bowl team by getting that player or these players in that draft.

As they pulled back the cover to unveil the statue, it broke his bat and each ro said, I know Marianna was going to be here best Saturday night. The joker filling up the stat sheet is always first player ever to lead the league in rebounds and assists, not only in the same season, but to do it in any season. He's always up there in scoring. So I know Wemby is considering unicorn, but I consider him one too, and my worst. One of my favorite Nicks, macal Bridge is on the last game of the regular season, started and played only twenty three seconds to keep his iron Man streak alive, similar to Josh Allen taking one snap. Boy Bams eighty one looks more and more legit every day. And the Pistons they need to find a robin for Kid Cunningham, who got an exemption from the commission on that sixty five game minimum rule. It's not really clear what the criteria is for that.

He's the best player in the game. He's the best player in the game, and uh, he's not going to win the MVA Pig. He'll finish probably second again and Jay Gilgess has done everything that you want an MVP to do, and they're the favorites to win the title again this year. I think the one that will look back upon ten years from now. Joe Lambiid got that MVP over Joker because I think people, some voters started to panic a little bit, going, wait minute, that guy's going to win like three in a row. I mean, look at all the players who never did that. That's not the way you vote.

Speaker 1: You may not look at Joker and put him in the top five or ten centers of all time, but that's not how you vote. You vote with what's in front of you. Not well, God, Kareem never did that, or Wilt never did that, or that's not how you approach this. Joker is the best player in the game to lead and assist, to lead in rebounds, he could lead in scoring if he wanted to. He's very selfless. When Ben Yama, I don't I think Joker wins another MVP and it's not because he's not deserving. You're just not going to win it, and Wemby is on the way, because I would be surprised if Wemby is not the favorite next year to win the MVP. Felt like it might be a little too early this year. He did miss games earlier in the season. He's wonderful to watch. We're lucky to be treated to some these players, young players. Now, Joker's not young, but he's still doing things that nobody's ever done. Like when you hear that in any sport, when you go, well, nobody's ever done that. Okay, you got my attention, and you watch him play. It's not exciting, but it's one of those where you look at the end of the game and you go, oh damn, he had seventeen assists.

Where you go you know, we need a new story here, But I think that's doing a disservice to the players who are playing. You know, Lebron hasn't won an MVP in fifteen years what was it, twelve twenty twelve, Like one of the greatest players of all time, and he's gone what fourteen fifteen years without winning an MVP. And there were years where I thought you could have given him the MVP. But we've seen it already. Yeah, Patrick Mahomes, we've seen it already, Lamar and Josh Allen. We might get to that point where we've seen it already, and that's a shame because that you know, these you get to that certain level where we go, okay, let's move on to the next potentially great player.

It feels like there's nobody who could get in the way since he's pitching and hitting like he's got such a head start. I would say unfair advantage, but it's not unfair because he's the one doing. Anybody can do it, You're allowed to do it, yes, Marvin.

Speaker 5: And I think baseball is one of those It's one of those leagues where whoever's having the best season is going to win the league MVP Award. It's not in the NBA. It's only the all time all timers that have won the MVP Award, maybe outside of Derrick Rose.
