[SPEAKER_00]: We're going, rather, we're growing and we're glowing every single week and every single day. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's pray. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's get going today. [SPEAKER_00]: God, we thank you once again for another shot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we woke up. [SPEAKER_00]: We can breathe in, we can breathe out. [SPEAKER_00]: We still got a chance. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And when other people tell us that we can't, there's no more shot for us that we're out of chances. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, God, for renewing us. [SPEAKER_00]: And for reminding us that when we make that wake up list, that means you've still got your hand on us. [SPEAKER_00]: So thank you again for all that you have done and all that you're going to do through us and your name, amen. [SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever struggled with finding true joy in life? [SPEAKER_00]: You have to struggle with that. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, when we think about, and this is my understanding of it, and feel free to drop in the comments. [SPEAKER_00]: Let me know your thoughts about what I'm about to say. [SPEAKER_00]: but check this out. [SPEAKER_00]: Happiness, I think Kirk Franklin mentioned it by the way, Kirk Franklin's a trip. [SPEAKER_00]: Shout out to Kirk. [SPEAKER_00]: He's been blessed in the culture with lots of awesome music, but man, I was so upset last week or two weeks ago. [SPEAKER_00]: Kirk Franklin was on the reunion tour. [SPEAKER_00]: And he was scheduled to be in Anaheim, California for another stop. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about that power pack, latest review and tour. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of this, yeah, just a few weeks ago, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Where he had, uh, you learned to add him, Fred Hammond, and the clock systems, I'm doing a heavy hitters in the Gospel industry. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm getting these emails, right? [SPEAKER_00]: All these emails were coming to my inbox saying click here. [SPEAKER_00]: Here's how you download your tickets. [SPEAKER_00]: It was through ticket master. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm like, OK, and my wife and I were going with another couple, and we were planning to have an amazing time. [SPEAKER_00]: We had a babysitter set up, and all that good stuff, and not because we're going to be out all night, we're going to get back so late that we didn't want to wake our son up. [SPEAKER_00]: And so we're like to set him up, stay. [SPEAKER_00]: But my brother-in-law's house, and man, [SPEAKER_00]: We were planning to have an amazing time. [SPEAKER_00]: So give me some emails. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't go to a lot of concerts. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't go to a lot of events, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I've used Ticket Master a few times, but they kept sending these reminders. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, here's your tickets, your tickets are inside. [SPEAKER_00]: Here's how you upload to your wallet. [SPEAKER_00]: Bye-bye, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like cool. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'll get one last one and I don't check it. [SPEAKER_00]: Cause I'm saying to myself, it's the same thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Loan behold, the day of the concert. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we, I think we dropped our son off already. [SPEAKER_00]: We were getting ready. [SPEAKER_00]: My wife was given a do a hair and opened up that last email and it said, due to unforeseen circumstances. [SPEAKER_00]: Some disagreeing between the event organizer, the promoter, the event was canceled. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was still waiting on my reefer right now, but the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I am upset. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think I had an inviting thing new, but I got everything cleaned. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't even freeze. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have my going out clothes on too much. [SPEAKER_00]: So I had to go get them freshly pressed, the dry cleaning and so forth. [SPEAKER_00]: And so bad, I'm sending my, I'm upset and my wife. [SPEAKER_00]: When she got the news from me, she had a totally different response. [SPEAKER_00]: She was like, let it go. [SPEAKER_00]: I said, what? [SPEAKER_00]: She said, let it go. [SPEAKER_00]: What are you going to do? [SPEAKER_00]: You'll get upset, you'll get mad, okay? [SPEAKER_00]: The concert is not happening. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're not going to be swayed by the amount of people that expressed their unhappiness or anger about the fact that we missed this concert. [SPEAKER_00]: Cool, it's canceled. [SPEAKER_00]: So, all right, let it go. [SPEAKER_00]: And I went back to something that he said in one of his songs, a member of the name of the song. [SPEAKER_00]: But when I mentioned this, maybe you, if you are of it, Kirk Franklin, listener of your fan, if you've listened to any of his music, he said, I don't want you to have happiness because the other few to have happiness or to experience happiness, oftentimes you've got to have something in your life, happyening. [SPEAKER_00]: In other words, oftentimes happiness is brought about as a response to something exciting happening in your life, a job promotion, money in the bank, I've got a new relationship, I've got a new car, oftentimes in life, something is, is my understanding, oftentimes something has to be happening exciting, [SPEAKER_00]: in order for you to experience happiness. [SPEAKER_00]: But then joy is something that you have in your heart. [SPEAKER_00]: It's almost as if joy is something that no matter the circumstances, no matter what's going on, no matter who's around, no matter who's not around, I've got joy. [SPEAKER_00]: No matter who says what to me, no matter who disrespects me, no matter who appreciates me or don't appreciate me, man, I got joy in my heart and the joy that I have, the world didn't give it to me. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm the world can't take it away. [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes in life, we cannot experience true joy, number one, because we think we're undeserving. [SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever met somebody in your life who has a habitual like bad attitude, or they are always talking negatively, not so much about other people, even negatively about themselves, like they don't deserve certain things, or they don't deserve to enjoy X, Y and Z, and I'm saying to myself, wow, we were not, we did not come on this earth, we were not created. [SPEAKER_00]: to walk around in a posture that puts us in a place where we never enjoy life, I want you to understand that true joy does not come our way based on our ability to acquire things, [SPEAKER_00]: or because certain people have given us the OK. [SPEAKER_00]: The next time you think about joy, springing forth in your life. [SPEAKER_00]: The next thing you think about having joy, think about the things that may be in your life, check us out, that might be stopping you from experiencing real joy. [SPEAKER_00]: One, as I mentioned, some people don't experience real joy because they think they're undesiring, but number two, people sometimes don't want to experience or have a different posture towards joy because they fear what joy will bring. [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds so confusing. [SPEAKER_00]: They fear that sometimes joy, especially got it, it's why you got to watch the company that you keep. [SPEAKER_00]: because I've been in situations where I was smiling, I'm upbeat, and the people around me who are not smiling, who are not upbeat, and they're upset with me because I've got joy. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, bro, sis, you tripping. [SPEAKER_00]: They're looking at me upset because they want me to adopt their posture. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's say to what our boss. [SPEAKER_00]: They want me to be mad at the boss because of ours cut because of whatever and I'm like that. [SPEAKER_00]: I was supervisor is only taking managers from orders from their boss. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't be mad at film. [SPEAKER_00]: It's almost like the person who's at the cash register, who's at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Redist at the Red [SPEAKER_00]: You're out of catch up and you want to go off and curse them out or do what that is that is that is beyond me. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand it If you want to experience real joy pure joy I identify the things and or the people in your life [SPEAKER_00]: that may be stopping you from moving forward, hit me out down the path of joy because they can't experience it too. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no saying misery loves company. [SPEAKER_00]: and people sometimes feel as if they can't experience joy, if they can't experience whatever you experience it. [SPEAKER_00]: Why do you think so many people lose friendships when they may gain fame or they may get a little bit of money or whatever, because people can't, you know, they want to tell you down who you think you are. [SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me, and I referenced this before, as a famous comedian talked about the fact that he had like success remorse in his life. [SPEAKER_00]: because he made out of his neighborhood and he'd go back to his neighborhood and expect his friends to be excited for him and they weren't excited because they were still there. [SPEAKER_00]: He made it out. [SPEAKER_00]: They were still doing, and not really, not taking accountability or ownership of the VIP of the fact that they are still doing things that will only keep them where they are. [SPEAKER_00]: They had to change their ways. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's check it out. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give you two more things real quickly. [SPEAKER_00]: But I'll be out of here because I want you to get to work. [SPEAKER_00]: I want you to get to school. [SPEAKER_00]: I want you to get to those babies. [SPEAKER_00]: I want you to get wherever you're going. [SPEAKER_00]: safely, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And also with the renewed purpose because I don't want you to hang on to this episode and just this, if you listen to last episode, you'll know why. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want you to just hang out right here and not put the information into play. [SPEAKER_00]: When the coach draws up a play, he didn't want you to sit in the hotel and be like, oh, tell me that play over and over again, not go out in an execute. [SPEAKER_00]: Go out and put the play on the court, right? [SPEAKER_00]: So you think about the fact that [SPEAKER_00]: You want to, you desire to, you need to experience joy. [SPEAKER_00]: Not only should you check the people and the things that may be draining you and pulling your way from pure joy, but check yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, do some internal work you made in the therapist. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, what you might need at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: I am not here diagnosing people, but check yourself. [SPEAKER_00]: Because sometimes we do something called self sabotaging. [SPEAKER_00]: We rob ourselves of joy, we rob ourselves of hope and we rob ourselves of what we need in order to experience a life that's overflowing with joy. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you part of the grow squad and I know you on on the line right now, I know you're listing right now. [SPEAKER_00]: I know you tuned in right now. [SPEAKER_00]: If you are an official member of the grow squad, you have no excuse every single day, but to go boldly, but to grow broadly, but to go brightly. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're part of the grow squad, if it's ingrained in you, if it's a part of who you are. [SPEAKER_00]: I want you to know without a doubt that as you do to internal work that you need to do, as you check the people that are around you, as you check your crew, so they say, as you check those who influence you, as you check, check me out, as you even check those things that you allow into your mind and into your heart. [SPEAKER_00]: You discover sometimes that we're doing it to ourselves. [SPEAKER_00]: And the only way to turn around is have a real conversation with yourself and do something that hey, we often have difficulty doing and that is setting boundaries. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's it. [SPEAKER_00]: That's one point. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_00]: If you want to experience more joy, more life, and more what life has to offer in a positive way, [SPEAKER_00]: You have to learn how to set boundaries. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't let people travel on your joy. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't let people come into your space in your place, a snacking your joy away from you. [SPEAKER_00]: Watch family members who try to drain you of your hope. [SPEAKER_00]: Watch people that are in your inner circle who always got something negative to put, no, watch, watch, watch and pray. [SPEAKER_00]: Set boundaries. [SPEAKER_00]: and keep living a life filled with joy. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, I hope you were blessed and hope you were enlightened by this episode today. [SPEAKER_00]: Hope that you will share this out as well. [SPEAKER_00]: And I hope that you would check the show notes. [SPEAKER_00]: There's some additional goodies. [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, we're doing the giveaway right now with my new children's book called Go Grow, Glow, find out more information about that. [SPEAKER_00]: A Eugene, Hamilton.org. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'll see you again next week in the meantime. [SPEAKER_00]: Keep going, keep growing, and keep glowing. [SPEAKER_00]: That's my time. [SPEAKER_00]: Peace.
