Speaker 4: Now here's Matt.

00:01:04
Speaker 5: Jones welcome back out Number two Kentucky Sports Radio Matt Jones, Peter Burns filling in a couple of things. Ryan is still in the hospital. I just would ask everybody say a special prayer for him today, and that's if you would do that. I think that would be good. Drew, Drew has got baby visits, so everybody's everybody has, everybody's doing stuff, and everybody's got health things. I think because all this stuff's going on, like I'm like, if something hurts, I'm like doubly checking it and going.

00:01:41
Speaker 4: Let me actually do I think a big deal.

00:01:44
Speaker 5: I think it's so what happens is we all get older, put some toss in on it. All right, So it's on Thursday, we will be at the Mount Laurel Festival in Pineville. Drew will be there, will be me, Drew, Shannon and Billy. We will be in Pineville. Just do you know where it is? Shannon and Pine.

00:02:04
Speaker 4: Says Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival.

00:02:06
Speaker 5: That's all right. I'll try to get a location. Maybe Billy can get us a location. But we will be. We were there last year. I think we're just in downtown but in Pineville. So if you're in the Bell County or Laurel or Knox or Harlan area, come out and join us. All right, I got some quick hitters here for you, Peter. Let's start with did you see the people that got stuck on the roller coaster yesterday?

00:02:29
Speaker 6: I think which was six Flags? Where was it?

00:02:31
Speaker 5: I think it was at six Flags. It was one of those roller coasters that goes way up, and of course it got stuck right at the top and everyone had to walk down the stairs from the top of this roller.

00:02:45
Speaker 6: Coaster the tip top, like we're talking the tip top.

00:02:48
Speaker 5: Of the peak of the roller coaster. I have a video on my Twitter, Shannon. Have you seen the.

00:02:53
Speaker 4: Video seeing this? This is like a worst nightmare scenario for me.

00:02:57
Speaker 5: This may be the scariest thing because you and I I hate.

00:03:00
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah.

00:03:02
Speaker 3: I mean, I'll go on a roller coaster assuming that this isn't going to happen, but if it did, I would be like, no, I'm just staying here till you figure out.

00:03:08
Speaker 5: I mean, it is a terrifying video of the and here's a girl at the front that is me. She is hanging on to that thing, walking down the steps as gingerly as possible, Peter, I would be freaked out.

00:03:23
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I know, Shannon would be scariest. That's the scariest video I saw. I've seen since twenty minutes before I looked at Lynn Boden's high school punt return. I like, you told me about that, the Lynn Bowden high school punt return where all eleven of the defenders got to handle him. I had no idea that was Lynn Bowden. I've seen that video probably fifty times, and it's always like, take a look at what this punter did. But I had no idea it was actually Lynn. That's great.

00:03:52
Speaker 5: He played. He played quarterback and punter for his high school team, and that was his He was the he was punting that that video is. I think it's one of the most amazing high school videos of all time. But what would you do? I mean, obviously you would have to go down the stairs, but what are you doing that? I would be terrified.

00:04:13
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean again, at some point, someone you know, structural engineer, had had to do it once and you knew the risks of going in there and getting on the roller coaster. Like I'm fine, Like like the one thing I cannot do, I could do roller coasters no problem. The idea of haunted house is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of my life. Like I like, I'll do haunted Like haunted House is the most ridiculous, stupid I'm gonna pay somebody my hard earned money to scare the living bleep out of me like that. I believe in I believe in ghosts, but not as much as I want them to believe in themselves. You don't really believe like what ghosts as a kid, do you? I? As a kid, I believed in ghosts because I wanted to be on the right side of them, just in case they are truly real. Like it was more of like a calculated like, hey, just in case, I was just paying the tax. I was paying the ghost tax as a kid of going, hey, man, I think you guys, y'all are cool. I'm cool with you, You're cool with me. You don't mess with me, don't.

00:05:20
Speaker 5: So you're you're just acting like ghosts exists to not be punished if you were wrong. There's a philosopher I can't remember who it was, but there was a philosopher that like many many years ago, that that had that view about God he was. It was like, I'm going to believe in God because if God doesn't exist, or if God does exist, I'm in trouble if I don't. And you're like, which, but you're like that with got I.

00:05:43
Speaker 6: Think that was Rick Patino who said.

00:05:44
Speaker 5: That, certainly he certainly. Well, interesting, well you have Channon, you have now finally somebody on the show you that joined you on the ghost?

00:05:54
Speaker 6: What are you? Are you pro go? I already know you're anti there's.

00:05:59
Speaker 4: Thing as a ghost.

00:06:00
Speaker 5: Now, well, I believe in the idea that people experience something that they akin to like, like, I'll be honest with you about deja vus, So not trying to be serious here, but when I people know on this show that I have epilepsy and so that I will have uh seizures very occasionally. But but what I have a little more than occasionally, you know, rarely, but it happens are auras. And what an aura is is like the best way to describe it is it's like a pre seizure. It's before your body like seizes, and that's it's in your brain. And that feeling is a very hard feeling to describe. But anyone that's ever had seizures, knows what I'm talking about. You get this feeling in your brain that when I was a child, I always equated to deja vu. Okay, So that feeling you're thinking of as deja vu.

00:07:02
Speaker 6: Like I've been to this moment before, right.

00:07:04
Speaker 5: Yes, But it's almost like a little ecstasy feeling in your brain. Okay, that is what an aura is. That like tells me an aura is coming, and it's like my trigger warning that it's coming. And when I was a kid, in hindsight, I would have that feeling and I thought it was deja vu. But I've gotten as i've gotten older, I actually know what it is. So I guess what I'm saying, Peter. That's a long way of saying I do think people experience deja vu, but it's actually a physical sensation we can point to that we don't know how to describe, so we call it DejaVu.

00:07:41
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, does that make sense? Yeah? And I'm going back to the original thing about of what you believe in. It's almost like, I mean, you could talk about it from a church or god a stand aspect of as well too. It's like, hey, I may not be able to point this out physically, but can I is there something there? By the way, I did not have this on the eleven ten a Eastern Therapist roller coaster ride, and we got there from a roller.

00:08:08
Speaker 4: The fear of God into you a roller coaster.

00:08:11
Speaker 6: Well, so I believe I'm afraid of not believing in them. Correct?

00:08:16
Speaker 5: All right, So the Knicks are going to play in Game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. Have you seen, Shannon? The cost of the tickets? No, how much I want you, I'm gonna pull up stub Hub right now. Okay, they are saying these may be in basketball, the most expensive tickets ever, by the as the way this series goes.

00:08:42
Speaker 4: We're talking get in price.

00:08:44
Speaker 5: The get in price for Game one? Just what you were?

00:08:48
Speaker 6: Eight hundred and seventy four dollars. So that's my that's my guess.

00:08:51
Speaker 5: That's your guest. Eight hundred and seventy four got Shannon, What is your guest for tonight's game? The get in price?

00:08:57
Speaker 3: This may be a little high, but I'm gonna I'm gonna guess like eleven hundred.

00:09:02
Speaker 5: For one ticket. Right now it has gone down. It's seven hundred and seventy five dollars. Court side Let's say you wanted to go court side. The best ticket in the building is behind the visitors bench. Fourteen thousand, nine hundred and ninety six dollars, Teter, Can I interest you in that? One of you and your private jet fans? Uh?

00:09:30
Speaker 6: That's a pass? Do I get to sit next to? Which one is the Which one of the Kardashians is there that's dating the I think it's Kyler Kylie. Kyler was a quarterback for A and M Carl kylerk to Kylie. I think she is the hot one. So yes, I mean, if I had the money, it's all this. It always depending on how much money you got in the bank account, like where the comma is in your annual salary. I only got one comma in mind, so I'm not buying that ticket. I will tell you this, there is very little things that are cooler. And I've experienced it once or twice of being in New York City when the Knicks are good and I total in that atmosphere, wld Man, that atmosphere is going to be unbelievable, don't you think? But just around it, I mean, people will show up to Madison's where garden just pins out like it's a vibe. And I caught it one year and I can't remember if it was insanity or anything like that time, but I can remember vividly being out of just a sports bar and every single television had a Knicks game on, like in late December. I mean, we're not talking playoff time. And I was like, that's a city that loves its basketball and they're so starved to get something that's decent.

00:10:39
Speaker 5: It's gonna be It's gonna be awesome. Now I have a question for the two of you, and I think between the two of you, you can give me the answer to this question. I did not google it because I wanted to see if you all would know without googling. Clearly there will be a way to google this answer, but I think the Peter Shannon brain trust would be more all right, So I Peter, you may not know this. I bought a new house. I bought Bush Hampden's house, the former offensive coordinator at UK Bush Hamdon. It's a it's a wonderful house, and Bush left it immaculate, with one exception. He left obscene amounts of paint in the garage. Okay, yeah, no, no, no, no, Look it up. I see you're about to google something. Don't look it up, Peter, Pet.

00:11:31
Speaker 6: Peter, No, I'm not looking it up.

00:11:33
Speaker 5: I'm just okay. So they have a lot of paint. Now, I know you want to have the paint that's in there so you know what color it is. But Shannon, I don't need this much paint because I'm not gonna ever paint the place right, I'm gonna If I need something painted, I'm probably gonna get somebody to do. So here's my question for you. I know you can't just throw paint away. That's against I'm sure the law. Okay, how do you dispose of paint? Because a friend of mine told me what he thought I should do, and I felt like, there's no way this can be right. Do you know, just if it were you all without looking it up, how do you get rid of cans of paint?

00:12:17
Speaker 6: Assume like a like chande Let's workshop.

00:12:20
Speaker 5: This.

00:12:20
Speaker 6: I assume you have to go to like a certified city dump at some point. Would be if.

00:12:30
Speaker 3: You're asking me something, if you're asking me what I would just do, I would just throw it in there with the rest of my trash and let the garbage man take it.

00:12:36
Speaker 5: That's what I think that's illegal. I think that's I know, I do. I think it's illegal because it's it's time. I don't think you're allowed to just throw paint in the trash.

00:12:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think going to a landfill.

00:12:47
Speaker 5: Okay, can I tell you what my friend said. My friend Hobby said, you put cat litter in it. I'm telling this is what he.

00:12:57
Speaker 4: Said, cat litter in the paint.

00:12:59
Speaker 5: You put cat litter in the paint, it clumps it up, and when you do that, you are then allowed to dispose of it. He said that he believed the law was you had to put cat litter in the paint, put it into clumps, and then you could throw it away.

00:13:17
Speaker 3: So it's because the paint is dry at that point it's legal to throw away.

00:13:21
Speaker 6: You can't say that's like one of those like obscure state rules to where you're like if if your name, you know, starts with H, you're not allowed to go to church on Sundays in like three different states, you know, like they'd have all these weird laws.

00:13:35
Speaker 5: But do you believe that's true? He says it with one hundred percent confidence. And I intentionally did not look it up because I wanted to ask you all to see if you thought he was correct before I do you think I should get cat litter pour it in these cans of paint?

00:13:51
Speaker 4: Yes, just do it, Just do it?

00:13:54
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:13:55
Speaker 4: I mean I don't know why you didn't just dry it out? Why does that have to be?

00:13:58
Speaker 6: I think I think here's what to how over yourself, Matt. I think what you need to do is have him send it in an email to or you feel comfortable about it. That were you can print it out if all of a sudden the authority is going on, listen, here's the deal. I did it. I brought it up on the show. There's an email here. I responded, I just go full court.

00:14:13
Speaker 5: But do you think the police.

00:14:14
Speaker 6: I don't know.

00:14:15
Speaker 5: If the police go, well, your friend Hubby said it, so then it's okay that you.

00:14:19
Speaker 4: Need to paint.

00:14:19
Speaker 3: Police are not gonna come knocking on your door if you just throw the stuff away.

00:14:22
Speaker 4: Here's the thing. It's gonna be like ninety degrees today.

00:14:25
Speaker 3: Take all those cans out, take the lids off, and just let it dry in the sun.

00:14:29
Speaker 5: I don't know if my neighbors would like me just drying paint out in.

00:14:34
Speaker 6: A weird paint, Like, what do we no? I mean, it's it's just.

00:14:38
Speaker 5: Paint, but it's like it's but there's a lot of cans bush him. Then I must have painted the place like forty seven times. It's a lot of paint.

00:14:47
Speaker 6: Okay, let's rethink this real quick. Why would you not just call a paint store and be like, hey, I got a bunch of paint here. What the hell am I supposed to do with this thing? I'm pretty sure somebody right there at like shaking wookims or whatever it would just be like, here's what you do.

00:14:59
Speaker 5: This is why on the show that was the best answer.

00:15:03
Speaker 4: You can just go.

00:15:04
Speaker 5: My friend Hubby said, put cat litter in it. Peter says, call the paint store. This is why. This is why you're on the SEC network, Peter, as you come up with solutions like that.

00:15:18
Speaker 6: By the way, I just got a text from will Stein asking why are we talking about paint? So I like, I just just asking.

00:15:25
Speaker 5: He was wanting us to talk about football. Literally, we'll ask him if he wants to jump on, Peter. If he wants to jump on, I'll get off and let you interview him here.

00:15:33
Speaker 6: If I want to, I like, go to Brad. We'll figure it, We'll figure we'll figure it out.

00:15:38
Speaker 5: See, we may end up with a random uh interview. And if we weren't talking about paint, guess what would have happened. It would not have happened. Now if i'd nine two twenty two eighty seven, we will take a break and be right back. This is Kazo. The text machine has exploded because again, you talk about paint. Yeah, you can talk about anything else people, but when you talk about paint, the verdict seems to be Shannon, that hubby is correct. Yeah, that's why my cat with the putt with the cat litter. Everyone is saying, these are people that work at Sherman Williams. Random. Everyone is saying, paint. If it's acrylic paint, uh, yes, you use cat litter. If it's a different kind of paint, there may be you have to do something else. But everyone says sawdust or cat litter. But cat litter works best.

00:16:29
Speaker 3: The main thing is as long as it's dry, right, as long as it's dried up, you're good to go.

00:16:33
Speaker 5: How about that. Here?

00:16:35
Speaker 6: Listen, so we're hitting we're sitting there by the way, the the the Bingo card of that last segment is everything ksr is. It was ghost roller coaster epilepsy, it was do you believe in God? Paint, cat litter. Now all of this is happening, mind you? Okay. I get three phone calls in the middle of this, and I'm all right, it's probably just you know, these random like political calls or what is what some people know this is during this segment just two minutes ago or Peter gets take it from there. And then I'm thinking, all right, what in the world. And it's three in a row, So I'm thinking, is it like my kids like got sick or whatever.

00:17:17
Speaker 2: No.

00:17:18
Speaker 6: Come to find out, I get a text from will Stein okay and says, are y'all talking about paint and not pickleball? I swear to God. So he has left me a message right now. I have not listened to this, So Shannon, I don't know if you can get the dump button ready just in case I got.

00:17:36
Speaker 5: Okay, So this is will Stein has left a message. Will Stein has left a message for Peter Burns.

00:17:43
Speaker 6: No ifod I should do this? Did you ask him?

00:17:46
Speaker 5: You said you asked him.

00:17:48
Speaker 6: Well, I I'm gonna play it. I'm gonna play wait, hang on, don't let me in trouble, Peter. No, it's too late. Now you're gonna tell me, I'm gonna play. Listen, I'm going down. Your went down with me.

00:18:00
Speaker 5: And this is will Stein's message to Peter Burns.

00:18:07
Speaker 6: Why am I doing this? This is so dumb. Okay, hold on, let's see right now.

00:18:12
Speaker 7: Which is cool, you know, I appreciate that shout out to all those guys. But I'm just trying to figure out if you're actually like practicing pickleball or it's just like a fun story for you to tell everybody, or you're just going out there and playing golf, Like we all know you're good at golf, but can you have a growth mindset.

00:18:29
Speaker 4: And good at pickleball?

00:18:31
Speaker 7: Like I'm trying to be the next great pickleball duo were like Serena and Venus were like Agasy and Samprus, Like we got to get the same rolling. So the next time you're in town or we're together and we got a pick a ball match, you and me. We can play Darby, we can play whoever. But the only thing I want to keep doing is winning. So if you're not about winning, Peter, then I might have to change my partner. But I believe in you. I believe in your mindset. You're a growth mindset type guy. You love Kentucky, you love Lexington, you love Kentucky more than you love Lsu.

00:19:09
Speaker 5: That's what you told me at least.

00:19:11
Speaker 7: Wow our next encounter, man, So tell the boys over there. I said hello, and we'll talk to you soon.

00:19:20
Speaker 5: Dude. That's amazing, all right, that is amazing. First of all, I love the message growth mindset. Come on, Peter, that was brilliant.

00:19:30
Speaker 6: I'm telling you. When we got in there and they pitched the idea of pick a ball, I had never played, I'm like, I didn't even bring pick a ball gear about screw it, let's go. And I'm telling you when we played, we picked the teams and it was Darby his wife that he talked about and dooring versus me and Will. And right from the jump, I'm like, oh, this will be kind of fun. We'll get a couple of clips in. We lose the first one and I'm thinking, oh no, we won the first set, and then all right, so that's kind of fun. Second one during all of a sudden and Darby start getting after it. And then this third one. I'm telling you this was it was a war. And he literally grabbed me at one point and was like, dude, FCC compliant stuff. He like went it like, dude, like what are you doing? Now? You let it bounce? You go right there, here's what you're going like. You gave me the whole look in them there was a different look in his eyes. So now and now, by the way, the follow up text here, tell Matt that's a loser mentality if he doesn't like pickleball and has never played it before, now.

00:20:29
Speaker 5: To me, how somebody could get me to play?

00:20:32
Speaker 8: Yeah.

00:20:32
Speaker 5: Look if if will Stein is gonna say I need a win, because I will say his message. Look look at the tell Matt that's a loser. All right, Well maybe he can.

00:20:41
Speaker 6: Maybe you've been called out. You got to go to p k L there Inxington and it's easy.

00:20:47
Speaker 8: All right.

00:20:48
Speaker 5: I'll get you, get douring me and you will take on or me and Doran will take on you. And yeah, because I used to be good at tennis, so I think I can make it work. Did he just convince me to play pickleball?

00:21:02
Speaker 4: Yes, what I'm hearing, I'm hearing, and.

00:21:04
Speaker 5: Will Stein and Peter just convinced me to.

00:21:06
Speaker 6: Put you know what it is Shannon too. And after we do this whole thing and we whoop, y'all's asked, you're gonna come back and you're gonna talk about how my you're gonna buy You're gonna get a racket or you're gonna get a paddle.

00:21:16
Speaker 8: Yeah.

00:21:16
Speaker 6: I guarantee you're gonna go to p KL. You're gonna get a I'm not doing it.

00:21:21
Speaker 5: I did like that message.

00:21:22
Speaker 6: I cannot wait till the KSR live remote at the pickleball courts are gonna happen next year. It's already happened. I will put the Vegas odds on that right now are minus three fifty because once you play, especially as a tennis guy, you're gonna love it. I didn't want to love it. I didn't want to like it. I wanted to hate it.

00:21:40
Speaker 5: Did you that message, just the just the way he talked, Yeah, that has me ready for that.

00:21:46
Speaker 4: I mean that was motivational.

00:21:48
Speaker 5: Was kind of a motivational. Like He's sitting there talking to Peter about pickleball and I'm like, okay, this dude, Larry's on the phone.

00:21:58
Speaker 8: Go ahead, Larry, Hey, Matt, I got an answer for you on your paint problem. This is better than anything I've heard yet. Take your paint to your habit Take your paint to Habitat for Humanity on the Southern Drive. They'll take it all. They mix it into five gallon buckets like killers, and they resell it for people that need cheap, cheap paint. And you get it out of your garage and you're doing a good thing on top of it.

00:22:25
Speaker 5: So I love it. Larry.

00:22:30
Speaker 8: The cat litter will work. But take to take it over to your Habitat for Humanity. They'll take it off your hands, no mess, no fuss. You'd be helping people too.

00:22:39
Speaker 5: Love it, Larry, Thank you very much. See this good man, this show. I appreciate the call. Can can you can learn things about life now? We know, Peter for all of us when we need to dispose of paint Habitat for Humanity, not your Shannon's suggestion of just put it out in the yard and let the sun take it while your neighbors want.

00:23:01
Speaker 6: But we also know that will Stein thinks you have a loser mentality. Wow, these are listen, we all this is the growth mindset we had as KOSR community.

00:23:09
Speaker 5: I don't want will Stein to think I have a loser mentality.

00:23:12
Speaker 4: You better start playing. Maybe I'll get your paddle.

00:23:15
Speaker 6: It's too late. He already thinks you do. Now you have to change.

00:23:17
Speaker 5: I have to appreciate it. That Yeah, that's true. All right, there you go. May have worked after all these years. Take a break. Eight seven KOSR.

00:23:28
Speaker 6: TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay now.

00:23:33
Speaker 3: More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:36
Speaker 4: Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:37
Speaker 5: I really like this song, Shannon. It's like old school end of career Tracy Lawrence right yep.

00:23:44
Speaker 4: Eighties, nineties country the best. This was my opinion.

00:23:47
Speaker 5: This was like his last big song, I think, but I did really like it. Paint, you don't use people just don't sing like that anymore. Now that we're back on the grid. You like to grill, Peter? Are you a griller at all?

00:24:00
Speaker 6: If? I like bourbon? And do I like to grill? Like? How am I supposed to answer that? Like you say, no? Of course I like to grill?

00:24:05
Speaker 5: All right? Well, if you like to grill, no, Chay Linda Farms is Kentucky grown beef and it is This is the burgers we use at Kospart. They are awesome. Everyone who tries them is a converter, is converted. There's no reason to buy at the grocery store. Get it from no Chay Linda Farms. They offer free shipping on all orders over two hundred and fifty dollars and free local delivery on delivery on orders over two hundred dollars. It is no Cha Linda Farms dot com. Shannon, you've had it, you love.

00:24:35
Speaker 6: It right, Yeah, yeah, just got it literally because my kids know me for my quote unquote world famous hamburgers. But I just go to the grocery store to get it like this.

00:24:44
Speaker 5: I'm not kidding you, Peter. This you're doing an ad, but like it's worth it. No Cha like Spanish word for night.

00:24:50
Speaker 8: You know.

00:24:50
Speaker 5: C h e Linda Farms dot com. No Cha Lendafarms dot com or eight five nine seven oh seven, seven thousand and four. They are con hucky proud partner. When you eat a no Jay Linden burger, you're not going to something else with no jalend of Farms. I want to give you some credit, Peter. The segment right there with will Stein's voicemail, pickleball paint. That's peak KSR. And you made that happen. That's a that is if I could sum up what a KSR segment is, it starts stupid, it stays stupider, then it gives something even insightful with a coach calling him with a voicemail live, you never know what's gonna happen. You did that, So congratulations.

00:25:37
Speaker 6: Peter Brock, thank you. You know what it is. It's the mentality of h and I see it and I get jealous of that because I host a daily show on Serious XIM. I do the one with Doring and then I do the one on ESPN. But when you do like regional and national shows, a lot of times you don't get that connection. And I missed that connection that I used to have in local markets when I did radio, because there is like a legit family, and I know that at any time that I owes a KSR like everybody is always welcome, and you had no idea what to expect. It was by far my favorite show. You'd write down your notes of like oh maybe we'll get into what Kentucky needs to do and who to make the tournament, or like what is going on with the twelve team playoff for twenty four and then you're talking about paint and kitty litter and pickleball like I mean.

00:26:20
Speaker 5: It's uh, that's why people people say to me all the time, well, like people don't understand why. Well, folks at ESPN don't understand why. I'm like, no matter what I do in the future, I'm going to keep doing KSR because and this is no disrespect to ESPN, because I love ESPN. I love doing it, but this is more fun, and this is more why I got into this, because you give this freedom. Now, I will give ESPN credit. They've given me a lot more freedom recently in the last couple of years for Myron and I to do these kinds of things. But you still have to follow some structure, which gets to a question somebody asked on the text machine. That's good, I'll have this is questions for me. But I think I'm gonna give it to Peter first, because I think he's he does more work for them than I do. What is the best and worst thing about doing work for ESPN? And I would say, for you, Peter the SEC network, what's the best and worst thing.

00:27:21
Speaker 6: I mean, the access is unbelievable because and I because every single coach, every single assistant coach coordinator, they know that over the course of the last decade or so, they know who they're dealing with, right, and so that that definitely helps. I can pick up the phone call or I can say, hey, Coach Stein, I'm coming into town. I want this that happens. So I think that's by far the best because we didn't have that right from the jump. Coach coaches didn't want to talk to us with the SEC network when we first launched. They're like, I don't know about this whole thing. Is it going to be gotcha? And stuff like that. Now, the flip side of it as well is that when you do have dissenting opinion, you have to also be careful about that as well too. And that's no different than any type of business partnership or whatnot, or marriage or whatnot. Right, And so I think, and I've and I was always wondering, I'm like, can I say something on air? And how is it going to What's it? Am I going to get just absolutely called into the principal's office. And I vivially remember I said something about will must Champ when he was over at Florida, saying, Hey, I think he's about to get fired. Okay, that's that's not my news to break. I'm not a news breaker, right, I show, I present the games. And there was a big conversation about it and whether or not I should have talked about it. And at the end of the day, the president of the network at the time comes to me and they go, did you believe that was going to happen? I said yes, And they said, did you back it up with rationale of why you thought it was going to happen? I said yes, and they go, we're good and and and that that was a that was more of an eye opening experience about that. And Plus the first time I ever did the halftime of the SEC Championship game. I didn't go to the SEC Championship game on behalf of SEC network that first year. I hadn't made like the television cut to be part of the coverage, right, So I was like live drinking during the halftime of the show. And I vividly remember remember the you know, the Dodtor Pepper halftime toss. Yes, right, I think I sent a tweet out that was like your scholarship should be revoked if you ever throw underhand at the Dr Pepper toss. Now, I think I tweeted that right as every single sales executed at ESPN was walking into the Dr Pepper sweet and so that was eye opening. That was fun.

00:29:36
Speaker 5: See then in a different experience, I with the SEC Network because I'm banned from the Fine Bomb Show.

00:29:45
Speaker 6: I think I'm banned from the Fine Bomb Show. I gotta be honest with you.

00:29:48
Speaker 5: Well you did too. You and I used to be like the primary fill in hosts and they don't have me anymore because I said I thought Kwanzo Martin should be fired when I was on there, and he did get fired, but they had a long memory. I would say best and worst. For me, best is it's cool to walk into that building in Bristol with all the history there and be even a tiny part of it, right like every time I walk in there, and I don't do it very often, but when I do, it's like there's Oberman Patrick, you know, Kilbourn, like all these pictures like that. That's cool. So just being doing it.

00:30:28
Speaker 6: For your favorite thing too, because you, I mean I was, I was living vicariously through you. Because when you got to do the selection show right exactly, that's like.

00:30:37
Speaker 5: You your your my favorite day, my favorite thing, and to get to do that over the air is a very cool thing. The worst but this is changing in a positive way is for six years, Peter, I felt like I was a little bit of a square peg in a round hole because I couldn't do what as well as I couldn't be elite at the thing they wanted me to do, which is this all right? Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder Tonight Thunder a six point favorite? Is this a defining game for Shay Alexander's legacy? And I just I hated that stuff. But this is where I give a lot of credit to everyone that runs the network, because post McAfee, McAfee changed everything there zero zero doll He's changed everything because now even though McAfee and I are not alike at all, McAfee's success has allowed them to be open to me doing what I do on KSR there and so literally I've watched the mentality change to where they are much more accepting of the KSR way now because of McAfee. And because of that, so the thing that was the negative to me, has become better.

00:31:56
Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think going back to what the negative was is like whatever, I like anything, and social media is such a cesspool. But I tweet something out and the first thing I'm gonna get is, oh, forty people will respond going, oh well, ESPN gave you the script to write that. I'm like, what are we talking about here? You think anybody at the higher ups care what Peter Burns had to tweet?

00:32:15
Speaker 5: You think they're organized enough to have a script? Yeah? Right?

00:32:20
Speaker 6: And so I always found that to be funny, Like, no matter what I said, it was oh because of the overlords that have ruined all this stuff and blah blah blah. And I'm like, listen, like it was my dream to work for ESPN. It's still my dream job. Like every single day I pitched myself going how the hell did I get enough people to let me do this for the last decade and covering the SEC and it doesn't get you.

00:32:42
Speaker 5: I mean you, I've watched you, You've changed over the last few years, and that you'll do more like you did it this year. You'll do more like Matt Jones like, and I'm sure you do that for other schools too. I feel like even at the SEC network, you guys are allowed to now show more personality and stuff. Maybe when you were six eight years over.

00:33:01
Speaker 6: I remember when Marty Smith people were like, you can't have that accent. You're like, why the hell can't you? Okay, yeah you can't, quest but I didn't feel it.

00:33:11
Speaker 5: But it wasn't like that until about I mean, McAfee changed it. Matt don't. I've never met him, but one day, if I do meet him, I'm going to thank him because my career has been benefited by the fact that he's opened the eyes to people to say, you don't have to do it the way they always did it.

00:33:32
Speaker 6: So real quick story before we go to break right. So we do these college football seminars every year before the before the season at ESPN. They'll ship us all out to somewhere there's two hundred people who's who of college football to get you ready to go, and it's a very corporate thing. The first year we hired McAfee, I'm sitting in the back of the room with the guy who was his name is Ed Placy. He was kind of starting to and here's what we're doing for the twenty whatever season. The door kicks open, Okay, kicks open, and McAfee in here, and he goes, all right, your big sobs, who's ready for some blanket college football? And then I'm like, oh, this is a different really like and just seeing like everybody's face go oh it's this is a different time, and they've they've embraced it. It's more fun for all of us.

00:34:17
Speaker 5: Yeah, I completely agree. I think I would have if not for I probably would have stopped doing it at this point had had that change not happened. Shady Rays basically the same quality as two hundred dollars sunglasses. You know, you can be like Peter Burns where thousand dollars shades. But let's say you don't want to do that, but you want to look just as great. How about Shady rays take them on the lake, the boat, the game, whatever. A Kentucky based company but goes all over the country. Shady Rays dot Com. They've got one at Fritz Farm in Lexington, Oxmore Center in Louisville. Use the code KSR thirty percent off all polarized sunglasses. Do you have Shady Rays, Peter? I can get you a pair if you want.

00:34:55
Speaker 6: If you can do that in some notche Linda far.

00:34:58
Speaker 5: I don't know if I do the you don't have to what order that? But Shady rays dot com. Go to Shady Rays or a store near you will take a break. Be right back. Tucky Sports Radio Dwight saying this right outside my house a couple of weeks ago, Shannon, I.

00:35:13
Speaker 4: Know, disappoint you didn't go to the show.

00:35:16
Speaker 6: Why didn't have to try to give him some of the paint? Did you give him?

00:35:19
Speaker 5: I was able to hear it from my porch. Why would I Why would I go pay?

00:35:24
Speaker 4: Because you can see him though you can hear him from your point.

00:35:26
Speaker 5: I see he's I've seen him dance a million times. It sounded great. Uh that was awesome. Today, by the way, is election day. We didn't talk about that earlier.

00:35:38
Speaker 6: You going on down there in uh in Sate of Kentucky. Is that pretty pretty docile race?

00:35:42
Speaker 5: Right?

00:35:43
Speaker 6: Uh?

00:35:43
Speaker 5: Well, there's one. I mean this, the Republican Senate primary was big, but then the one guy dropped out. So now Andy Barr and Daniel Cameron. But most people think Andy Barr is gonna win. Will find out Shannon's Shannon's and Amy McGrath is running against Charles Booker.

00:36:03
Speaker 4: You know what, she doesn't give up. I'll give her that.

00:36:05
Speaker 5: She doesn't give her well, I think she's gonna lose again today, she'll be back. Just keep running. One day.

00:36:14
Speaker 3: These ads are finally going to be over. I can watch YouTube without having to hear about.

00:36:18
Speaker 5: But the big one is in northern Kentucky with Thomas Massey and uh Ed what's his face? Is that? How you say?

00:36:27
Speaker 3: I don't even know if that's right. I've heard these things somebody. I don't know who these people are. I just hear their names. I think that's right.

00:36:33
Speaker 5: Galran Well the most money ever spent on a house race in the history of the United States, which is wild for the suburbs of northern Kentucky. I mean it's crazy, Like it's not even Lexington and Louisville. It's the suburbs and like some rural counties supposed to be, nobody really knows because they don't really poll how races, so nobody's really sure what's gonna happen. They spent twenty five million dollars against Massey, and Massey spent like ten to four, so we'll see what happens. It's kind of a referendum can Trump get a Republican out who has ever voted against him on anything? So we'll find out. I never thought there'd be a world, Shannon, where I would be rooting for Thomas Massey, But I'm kind of rooting for Thomas Massey tonight.

00:37:27
Speaker 4: What the world coming to?

00:37:28
Speaker 5: I know, what is? What is the world coming to?

00:37:31
Speaker 4: Going for a Republican?

00:37:33
Speaker 5: Well, I just he's an interesting fella, and I like people who get to stand up for what they believe in. But we'll see.

00:37:39
Speaker 6: That's the whole idea of the race, right because I think Massy, if I'm not mistaken, I've seen a little bit of it. Massey votes for publicant like pretty hardline.

00:37:46
Speaker 5: Like ninety seven percent of the time. But he does. He does. He didn't on Iran in Israel, and he didn't on Epstein, and that's why Trump's trying to.

00:37:56
Speaker 6: See the Epstein stuff and that's why. So basically this is more of a twenty five dollars referendum on are you in lined with Trump or in line.

00:38:04
Speaker 5: With the question is yeah, the question is can you ever be a Republican and go against Trump? That's really what the election is today.

00:38:12
Speaker 6: It just the Senator got voted out Dan.

00:38:15
Speaker 5: But he wasn't very well liked before that. This got mass He had like an eighty percent approval rating in his district. So if if you if he loses, but he's.

00:38:26
Speaker 6: Pushed him on the Epstein stuff, basically.

00:38:28
Speaker 5: He has and if he loses, then that just shows you, like well, Donald's Way or the Highway, and if you're if you're if you're a Republican. All right, Kentucky baseball plays Van Dy. What time is this game? Two clock, two o'clock. Do you think Kentucky has to win?

00:38:48
Speaker 6: Peter, Yeah, it doesn't. I mean, here's the deal. It doesn't hurt them as far as like RPI rankings and stuff like that, because it would looked at as a neutral what do they call a quad two lost to Vanderbilt, who's on the bubble as well too. But if you get the win, it's yet another one of those conference wins and the SEC is going to still be loaded how many teams.

00:39:09
Speaker 5: Well, as I see it, it looks like Kentucky's on the inside of the bubble and Vandy is on the out. Correct if they end up next to each other and Vandy wins this game, do they get in over us?

00:39:22
Speaker 6: Well, then you're gonna say, if it comes down to these two teams, are you going to take Vandy, who you know, won national championships before they know it and now has beaten Kentucky three out of four.

00:39:34
Speaker 5: Times the regular seasons?

00:39:37
Speaker 6: Here, right, they won two out of three. That's so we might need virtually got to win this game. And game do you think we have to win today?

00:39:48
Speaker 4: I think so?

00:39:48
Speaker 6: Yeah.

00:39:49
Speaker 4: You're sitting at what twelve sec wins?

00:39:51
Speaker 6: You got thirteen? Right now?

00:39:54
Speaker 5: Are they are they throwing the I would assume they probably are.

00:39:57
Speaker 4: I don't throw Jelkin if I were, I'm not sure.

00:39:59
Speaker 5: Because they they didn't throw him Saturday against Arkansas, and I kind of thought that might be because they're waiting at throwing today.

00:40:07
Speaker 6: That zero doll and if you felt like you were Arkansas was already a better team. You throw out somebody that has either a high ceiling or low floor and just hope that the basket hot and if they don't, all right, you still got your ace going. Because I think that's what it comes down to, is whether or not you can win this game. If you do, then you win another. You got a game against Florida. But I mean what I think The Walkats have lost the last three openers in the tournament and Vandy has won what nine of their last ten SEC tournament games. There's like Corbin always finds a way even if the teams aren't great, to play out in Hoover. And this is the first year or two, Matt, they're gonna be doing what Major League Baseball, like, what the Reds and everybody do in the ABS system where you can challenge.

00:40:44
Speaker 5: Yes, I saw that first time. We have some breaking news Shannon Okay running No. A. The TBT Lave Familia team won the attendance Challenge and we'll get to host game three of the series against Louisville. Congrats to uh all the UK fans for buying the tickets. They will host game three, so the first game will be in Lexington, second game in Louisville, and then if there is a Game three, it will be in Lexington. Uh So there you go, Peter, we beat Louisville. And another thing, list time and buying tickets to watch our old players play their old players.

00:41:24
Speaker 6: Just just means more. This deal.

00:41:31
Speaker 5: It's exactly right. DraftKings go to DraftKings and my pro K promo code KSR DraftKings. Let's pick a game Game one in Uh, you have Nicks Cleveland. Who you got, Peter, give me the Knicks.

00:41:48
Speaker 6: I mean obviously that that that whole environment and the Massisquare Garden is going to just be ridiculous.

00:41:53
Speaker 5: So give it to I'm gonna take the Knicks as well. Although they say when a team's been awful long time, the team that's plane tends to do better in game one. Saw that last night with Wimby. Uh, with the Spurs. I worry about that with my Hurricanes. Are you a Hurricanes fan? By the way, Peter not eating zero?

00:42:11
Speaker 6: Why not? That just doesn't dude, I got six year old. I got like I've been on the road for eighteen of the last twenty one days. I've been talking about EPILESSI and paint.

00:42:22
Speaker 5: And everybody's got a family. If you notice, everybody's got a family, everybody's got kids.

00:42:28
Speaker 3: Your paint canst.

00:42:31
Speaker 5: And I'm just trying to put Kitty Lenter in the paint. Peter, thank you very much. I really appreciate it. You did a wonderful job. Thank you for taking the time and doing this always. Yeah, don't hang up here because we've got to stop this recording, but we will see you later. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
