Also sign up for the newsletter comes out every day at around six Eastern wraps up everything we did on the show. Our next trip is going to be to Pittsburgh and that'll be for the draft coming up in about a month. From now eight seven to seven three DP, show operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. We will recap last night's Academy Awards with Kevin Fraser Michelle Turner from Entertainment. Tonight they will join us short on sleep, but we'll recap what we saw last night and not surprised with anything. I think you sue, there's one where you go, wow, I didn't back that, but for the most part felt like those who were winning were supposed to win. I guess a little bit of the surprise with Timothy Chalomey not winning and Michael B. Jordan taking it home. 00:01:14 Speaker 3: Yes time. 00:01:14 Speaker 4: So no bracket or Oscars controversy. 00:01:17 Speaker 3: No, I don't think so. 00:01:19 Speaker 2: I mean there's a couple of schools that you could say, all right, you got a little bit of a gripe, but I don't think it's anything glaring for anybody doesn't feel that way. I mean Bruce Pearl who joined us in the first hour, you know, he said, hey, Auburn, you know, shouldn't have made it if you look at their record. Yes, they had a really tough schedule and they go seventeen and sixteen, and yes, you're playing a lot of you know, big time opponents there Quad one. I understand all of that. And do I think the Miami of Ohio story played a large role. Maybe not ninety five percent, as Bruce Pearl said, but I do think we love those stories. I mean, at the time we were talking about it and they were undefeated. Then they get clipped, and we didn't know if a one lost team would not be making it in Is the resume great? 00:02:08 Speaker 5: No? 00:02:09 Speaker 3: Is it good? 00:02:10 Speaker 2: No? 00:02:10 Speaker 3: But they did go. 00:02:11 Speaker 2: Undefeated, and I think you have to have you know, there's the human element of the selection committee and that's where you're looking at. 00:02:19 Speaker 3: You know, it's a good story. 00:02:22 Speaker 2: Plus, they're going to be sort of playing at home at the University of Dayton that's forty minutes away from the campus. I'm gonna guess that they're gonna show up a lot of pressure though. It feels like winning that game feels like that. Let's see NBA on NBC and Peacock every Tuesday in primetime Coast to Coast Tuesday, Calves taking on the Bucks in the West, The Sixers and the Nuggets begins. 00:02:47 Speaker 3: Tuesday on NBC and Peacock. 00:02:51 Speaker 2: By the way, the Austin Reeves intentionally missed free throw, get it back score and then Luca with a jumper. They have the talent, they have the ability. I just don't know if they can continue to play. And you got to get defense. You think That's what I keep waiting And I will give I will give Lebron credit because it really feels like he's trying to fit in as the third wheel here because it I mean, he should understand that because it is Luca and Austin Reeves. It feels like he's passing more than shooting. Yes, Marvin, he dove on a floor left. I saw that he was a gritty and gutty guy. 00:03:34 Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. 00:03:35 Speaker 6: No, that's not your job. He's as old as I am. Come on, yeah, he's. 00:03:41 Speaker 7: Literally as old as I am. 00:03:42 Speaker 2: He's your age, he's forty one. 00:03:45 Speaker 3: It's a better career you or Lebron. 00:03:50 Speaker 6: Ah both grew up fatherless, and we devide the odds. I'm going to say lebron just by it millimeter all right, Yeah. 00:04:01 Speaker 8: Paul, both polarizing. Actually, wow, Actually everyone likes Marvin. Yeah, that's why it's funny. 00:04:05 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:04:07 Speaker 3: One battle after another ended up winning. 00:04:11 Speaker 2: It was favored Best Actress Jesse Buckley very very heavily favored. Michael b was I think the second favorite. Sean Penn, Best Supporting Amy Madigan. Her husband is Ed Harris. Correct, Yeah, Amy Madigan, gag time act Yeah, Paul Thomas Anderson, that was a big one. He was minus twenty five hundred and Best Original Screenplay sinners, Yeah, Seeton. 00:04:42 Speaker 3: Jesse Buckley from Hamnet. 00:04:44 Speaker 9: Yeah. 00:04:45 Speaker 10: Yeah. 00:04:45 Speaker 11: Sometimes people they'll say something when they're talking about a performance where they're like, wow, they really gave everything they had, like they. 00:04:52 Speaker 3: Really let it all out there. 00:04:54 Speaker 4: Whatever. 00:04:54 Speaker 11: I never really understood what that meant until I watched Hamnett and I was like, oh my god, this lady is really going for it, like she it was crazy what she was doing on camera, and you're like, dang, she is really like leaving everything that she. 00:05:07 Speaker 3: Hads out there for this part. 00:05:09 Speaker 7: It was really interesting. 00:05:11 Speaker 2: And it didn't feel like there was anybody else in the category that she was going to win. And you know, my wife and daughters watched Hamnett and I said and they said, okay. I said, well, you know that Jesse Buckley's going to win the Academy Award. And they're like, oh, okay, yeah, yeah, she was pretty good. Wasn't one of those that, oh my god, Yes, she was incredible. 00:05:36 Speaker 11: She was unbelievable. The movie itself, though, it's kind of like it's made for like the artist, you know, or like, oh, you just don't the subtleties of everything, and you kind of get to the end of the movie and you're like, oh, that's what this was about. 00:05:51 Speaker 3: Okay, got it. Maybe I should watch it again. 00:05:53 Speaker 11: To see if I understand it better or something. 00:05:56 Speaker 2: Plus, during the commercial break, as I walked from my side of the room to the other side, of the room and Paulie goes Wolf of Wall Street. Then he put both of his hands up in the air and then gave it a thumbs down. 00:06:12 Speaker 8: I was I saw that movie about a month after all you guys saw it, and everyone saw it, like you gotta see it, you gotta see it. I thought it was way too over the top, and she some great actors, way too over the top of those scenes. 00:06:27 Speaker 2: I think it's hard to watch a movie when you don't like the guy who is the star. I mean DiCaprio, but he's playing this role and you don't like the guy. I was kind of like, okay, I mean, I watched it, but I was like, it didn't need to be so over the top, and it felt like that, you know, there's a boat scene and then when he's drunk coming out of the country club trying to crawl to his or he's got on drugs or whatever, trying to crawl to his car. 00:06:59 Speaker 11: Yes, yeah, the thing is the movie was over the top, which didn't necessarily bother me, but it was three hours of being over the top, and it was like, damn, man, this could have been a buck forty five easy. 00:07:09 Speaker 3: I get it, I get it. It's excessive, got it? And it just kept going on and on and on. 00:07:14 Speaker 2: This final hour brought to you by the official lung care treatment provider, the PGA Tour, True Green. Sign up today and get a golf course quality lawn the Easy Way at truegreen dot Com. Then sit back and relax, all right, Zach and Knoxville. Hi, Zach, what's on your mind today? 00:07:33 Speaker 9: Hedp? Thanks for taking my call. 00:07:36 Speaker 12: You were talking about best You're on Cusack scene earlier and that's definitely better off dead when he pulls up at the red light and the guys that learned anguish by listening to Howard Cosel pull up and drag rayson lane Maya. And I think CBS is too worried about Auburn to focus on the fact that the number one overall seed. Do my Yukon Husky seemed to have drawn the toughest bracket And do you think that that is legitimate or do you think it's just because of all of the blue bloods that are in that bracket that make it seem so daunting. 00:08:14 Speaker 2: Well, they put blue bloods in there, certainly the coaches in there, but yeah, I was curious where Yukon would be seated after being blown out in the Big East title game. But as j Billis talked about last hour, you know, they're looking at the totality of your season. They're not looking at the last ten games. And I thought that that's the way it used to be, certainly maybe fifteen years ago, ten years ago, but that apparently is not the case now. 00:08:45 Speaker 3: Yes, Paulie, if. 00:08:46 Speaker 8: You're looking, and we do this during football season, like who can help their legacy the most in this tournament, we mentioned Rick Patino at Saint John's. If he wins in round one, he would probably face Kansas in round two. That would be a biggie focal point game. Then round three he could likely get Duke And can you imagine this, somehow Saint John's took down Kansas Duke back to back, it would be like a rebirth for him nationwide. 00:09:12 Speaker 2: Yeah, they had a disappointment, had a flame out last year in the tournament. I mean it was such a weird game last year. But I mean he can coach. He cam he can coach better than anybody, or I should say as well as anybody. He's the kind of coach he can take his players and beat you. He could take your players and you know, beat his team. I mean, I just think he has that capability. He's that good. Yeah, And Bruce Pearl said, look, he was just always overly prepared. Whenever I faced him, he was he knew what I was going to do. But I mean, if you look at where he's been, here's Beatino nineteen seventy four. He's in Hawaii as an assistant. Then he became the interim head coach at Hawaii, an assistant at Syracuse, head coach at Boston University, an assistant with the Knicks, head coach at Providence, head coach of the Knicks, head coach at Kentucky, head coach of the Celtics, then Louisville. Then he goes to Greece and wins a championship, comes back and coaches at IONA and now at Saint John's. I remember when Patino when he came back to IONA, and it was like what is going on? And then lo and behold, you know, ends up making a tournament after the Louisville mess, and he gets out of the country, goes over to Greece and then comes back and I thought, man, he can't get away from coaching goes to Iona, takes him to the tournament, then goes to Saint John's. 00:10:50 Speaker 8: Yeah, Pullint, Well, you're so toxic you have to coach in another country. That's how bad that dip was post Louisville. 00:10:56 Speaker 2: Yeah, uh Joe and Chicago, Hi Joe, what's on your mind? 00:11:02 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:11:03 Speaker 9: Great show, Dan, Hopefully. I told the producer, I don't know who's going to replace you. And the best of the weekend was the golf another another player blowing the fourth roke lead. And the worst of the weekend was all these tournaments with nobody showing up at them, which is ridiculous and real fast. Lambert and Jay billis from the same area. Beautiful golf course is there? Low's Verdies. Oh, you got to play that next time in southern California. 00:11:30 Speaker 3: Thank you, Joe. 00:11:31 Speaker 2: Look at the coaches who have retired recently, so you got Saban, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, Roy Williams, coach k Bruce Pearl, Jim Beheim, Jim Calhoun. Calhoun's not that recent, but you get the idea, the fact that Patino is he's embracing what modern college basketball is all about. Cal Perry same way that they get it. You got to evolve, you got to change or get out of the sport. And Jay Wright until Tony Bennett they got I mean Tony Bennett got out early. Jay Wright. You know, these guys could have done that for another ten years. But the fact that Cali Perry is still doing it at a high level, and uh, you know, Bruce Pearl walks away from thirty million dollars. 00:12:18 Speaker 6: Yes, Marv, if you're a Kentucky fan, are you thinking to yourself, maybe we shouldn't have gotten rid of Calipari. 00:12:25 Speaker 3: Or Patino. 00:12:27 Speaker 7: That's a whole different can of worms right there. 00:12:29 Speaker 2: But but I think with Cali Perry, I think it was at I think it was best for both at the time that they needed to separate. 00:12:37 Speaker 3: Yes, Todd, I wonder how much. 00:12:38 Speaker 13: Is embracing you know, the changes and ni and everything, versus how much it's like, I just love coaching so much, regardless of these obstacles and all the weird things and the changes that have happened over the year. Is I just want to keep coaching and I'll just you know, navigate through it even though it kind of sucks. 00:12:52 Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think you have to embrace all of it. I don't think you can go. I love coaching, but I don't like dealing, you know, with nil and advisors and you know transfer. You gotta embrace it because that's the landscape. Yes, Marv. 00:13:05 Speaker 6: And also with Patino, he didn't want his story to end in Greece. He wanted to come back and make one more run at a big time program, and that's what he was doing. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: He didn't want it to end at Iona. That also, yes, he got the opportunity. All right, we'll head to Hollywood when we come back back after. 00:13:21 Speaker 1: This, be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. 00:13:32 Speaker 14: Hey, this is Jason McIntyre. We're having you on to talk to the Oscars and Michelle, I know you want to talk about March Madness, right please. 00:14:24 Speaker 5: That's all we want to talk about, Dan Please boo Oscars. We are trying to figure out our travel plans right now. Everybody's trying to. 00:14:33 Speaker 15: Figure out how we're going to get there, to get to Saint Louis on Friday, so I can watch Tigers. 00:14:37 Speaker 3: Dayton on Tuesday. Kevin, where'd you go to school? 00:14:41 Speaker 5: I Hampton, but my son plays at Howard University. They play in Dayton on Tuesday night and your old stopping grounds to get UMBC. I'm on a tech chain with Jimmy Ferry, the coach at UMBC, because he's been a friend for twenty years and they're they're star Ace Valentine. I grew up with his uncles. His mama worked with my daddy it's a game. I gotta get to you stuck the team from the mic and the playing game again. 00:15:06 Speaker 2: Damn, I'm pissed. Uh, Michelle, you a proud grad of Missouri. 00:15:12 Speaker 15: Yes, indeed, m I Z okay. 00:15:15 Speaker 3: How far are you going to have them going? Though? 00:15:18 Speaker 15: You know? I'm My bracket is busted every year from the beginning because I'm a Homer. Homer to like the Hilt Dan, and I've got them going. I usually take them to the final four. I don't know why, but I just do. 00:15:30 Speaker 3: You're a good team, you know what. 00:15:32 Speaker 15: They can be dangerous if they just like they got some sense. Just act like you got. 00:15:36 Speaker 5: Some my kid, Old Barren, I love that. 00:15:41 Speaker 15: I didn't watch bo because the. 00:15:44 Speaker 5: Simpsons and the Big Boy. Yes, Dad, Missouri came to Howard this year to open the season up. It was amazing. I want to shout out coach Gates for doing that, to bring in an SEC team to an HBCU. More of that should happen, then there wouldn't be these inequity He's come time for the NCAA tournament and hell would job by Kenny Blakeney at Howard after his best player was stolen by Creighton don't let me get. 00:16:07 Speaker 15: Started, let him get started, Dan, let him cook. 00:16:09 Speaker 2: No, no, we got I want to know whether any any surprises last night, Like there was no surprises on selections surprises, Like biggest. 00:16:21 Speaker 15: Surprise was what biggest surprise? 00:16:25 Speaker 16: You know? 00:16:26 Speaker 15: I think the biggest joy of the night was Michael B. Jordan winning Best Actor. I don't know if it was necessarily a surprise because he had kind of the tide started turning in that race. I think in the last few weeks where I. 00:16:38 Speaker 5: Think even after the Golden Globe, you could see it moving, even though he was. 00:16:42 Speaker 15: Timothy Salomet and uh, you know, so people were saying, well, maybe Michael B. Jordan could win this, and then I think in the last week it was like, well he could now be the favorite. 00:16:53 Speaker 3: Wait but win are the votes in? Like all the vaults? 00:16:57 Speaker 15: Was like no, it was like like two weeks ago, last Thursday on a Thursday was the closing of the votes. 00:17:03 Speaker 5: I think that's why you also saw Amy Madigan move up so dramatically in the end. I mean she played a hell of a role in Prisoners. Gladys is an all time character. 00:17:13 Speaker 15: Yes, absolutely, but I think a lot in that race, a lot of the other people canceled each other out and so. But I also think, I mean, she was incredible in that movie. But yeah, I don't know that I would say surprises. The only thing, Dan, is that all the races were up in the air going in, So not really a surprise, but just like, what's gonna happen, what's gonna what's gonna go on here? 00:17:34 Speaker 2: How many movies will be labeled a classic of this year too? 00:17:40 Speaker 15: Yeah, one battle after another in centers. 00:17:43 Speaker 3: Will both wow. 00:17:43 Speaker 5: See we disagree, I say Hamnet and Sinners. 00:17:46 Speaker 15: Oh well, Hamlet's pretty much a perfect movie. I don't know if you've seen it, Dan. 00:17:51 Speaker 3: My wife watched it and I told her to download me on. 00:17:54 Speaker 15: It, so she gave you this. 00:17:56 Speaker 3: You will cry, You will cry. 00:17:58 Speaker 2: I was watching Weekend at Bernie's and I fold for one hundred. 00:18:02 Speaker 3: And seventy times. Yeah, and you know he's dead. He's actually dead. 00:18:09 Speaker 5: Dan was actually reading his script for the next Adam Sandler movie. 00:18:12 Speaker 15: That's what he was was, of course, what he was doing. I think actually one of the big surprises, Dan is that your boy Adam Sandler didn't get nominated for an Oscar. Maybe that was the biggest surprise of this movie. 00:18:21 Speaker 2: No, it was the previous uncut gems that to me was was criminal. 00:18:28 Speaker 15: He was great, Yeah, he was great. Well, the safties, you know, and the Saftis made Marty supreme, and it was very much in that vein of being manic and weird and crazy and great and all of those things and maddening. 00:18:41 Speaker 5: And I mean Marty Supreme went from oh my gosh, everybody loves this movie too, like no one was talking about I still love the time we got to the Oscars. But I'm saying the talk, the chatter, the. 00:18:50 Speaker 3: Buzz died was there. 00:18:53 Speaker 2: What is there, Timothy Chalomet fatigue in Hollywood. 00:18:59 Speaker 15: I don't know if it's fatigue. I think the way that they went about marketing the movie started to tank near the end because they did this unconventionally. So what he did was he marketed. He didn't do interviews with traditional media. He went to he went the sports route, though, and he went to all like this. He went to Mellow's podcast and he did you know, the ESPN shows, and he did that. And so I don't think his campaign was targeted to the Oscar voters as much as it should have been. Although I thought the marketing of the movie. He was everywhere, he just wasn't where the. 00:19:33 Speaker 7: Voters were, right. 00:19:33 Speaker 5: I think that's the perfect point that the traditional media. He walked by, the traditional media at every one of the awards shows, did not stop the talk, did not do the interviews. 00:19:42 Speaker 15: And I think, yeah, we talked to him in Palm Springs, but I mean literally after Palm Springs, what did he say? He did nothing? 00:19:48 Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, this is wild to watch. Is it a sports movie? 00:19:53 Speaker 5: No? 00:19:54 Speaker 15: No, I think it is. 00:19:56 Speaker 5: No. 00:19:56 Speaker 15: Absolutely, I'll disagree with you on that. It's a movie about pek, a movie about life. It's a movie about ambition, it's a movie a little bit about narcissism and and you know how you show up in the world. But it definitely is a sportsman. 00:20:10 Speaker 5: For the love of the game, Bingo Longs, Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings. I mean, you can name a lot of movies that are about sports. I don't think this one. Ping Pong feels like the backdrop almost to the manic craziness. 00:20:24 Speaker 2: All of these sports movies, Kevin, are not about sports. Durham is not about minor league baseball, is about dreams, is not about BASEB. 00:20:35 Speaker 5: But it weaves the sport in in a way that is different in this movie the sport of I think spink ping pong in. I think that when you sit down and you watch, I mean, look, I still every time, every time I watch for the love of the game, I still I love it watching you know him on the mound and the way they weave the game and the names and all that stuff. I think that's different than how martyri. 00:21:01 Speaker 15: Even's a traditionalist in that way, Danny and I see we can think outside the box. 00:21:08 Speaker 3: Why didn't Sean Penn show up well? 00:21:12 Speaker 15: The New York Times reports that he went to Ukraine. Our reporting from his rep was just that he's out of the country. Some people think he just didn't want to show it. You know, he hasn't really showed up for much since the Golden Globes this season. But I will stand Tinto's down on the fact that Sean Pinn gave the best performance on camera in any movie this year. It was that good and he deserved the Oscar. I think it was ridiculous he wasn't there, but he deserved the. 00:21:42 Speaker 2: Oscar for playing the best acting role. And it's not even close. In my opinion. Yeah, go ahead, Ethan Hawk. 00:21:51 Speaker 15: We carried that movie from start to finish, and he. 00:21:54 Speaker 3: Was He was incredible, Jesse. 00:21:57 Speaker 5: It was the best performance of the year. Her expressions in Hamnet were incredible. With her face the end of that movie, that five minutes of her standing at that stage watching that was incredible. 00:22:10 Speaker 3: Arts it was. You couldn't, Kevin. 00:22:12 Speaker 5: You literally could not pull yourself away from. 00:22:15 Speaker 3: The scyven that movie Blue Moon. 00:22:17 Speaker 15: I'm sorry. 00:22:17 Speaker 2: Blue Moon was awesome. I know you guys gotta go, Kevin. How many movies have you been go for it like I'm. 00:22:23 Speaker 3: An actor, Okay, all. 00:22:28 Speaker 2: Right, just saying I mean over twenty twenty movies. 00:22:33 Speaker 3: I'm just saying, Well. 00:22:34 Speaker 5: I will say this, Dan, clearly you haven't seen Joana man in my great work in that and some of the other movies where I've made cameos. I mean, I thought I was. I thought I was incredible in Girls Trip. I mean, I don't know, Dan, I'm just telling you, Man, I mean, and from those moments of being on screen and being just pure magic in my eyes, I think that I understand a great performance when I see one. 00:22:57 Speaker 15: Well, none of you can touch a runaway bride for chriss. 00:23:00 Speaker 3: Well, that's hold on. 00:23:01 Speaker 5: She's had a lead before, she's been a leader. I mean she just trumped us. 00:23:05 Speaker 15: All Dan, I am Emma McGregor. 00:23:08 Speaker 3: Okay, all right, Wow, I get the. 00:23:11 Speaker 15: Guy at the end of the movie, Dan, I. 00:23:13 Speaker 3: Get well go whoa hey, Dan? 00:23:18 Speaker 5: Dan? 00:23:18 Speaker 3: Who wins? 00:23:19 Speaker 5: Who wins in Dating on Tuesday Night? Howard are U NBC? 00:23:23 Speaker 3: I'm going I hope Howard does. 00:23:26 Speaker 5: I didn't ask you. That's your heart, I'm asking your head. 00:23:31 Speaker 4: Thanks? 00:23:32 Speaker 15: Okay? 00:23:32 Speaker 2: Dan? 00:23:32 Speaker 15: Who wins on Friday in Saint Louis, Miami or Missouri? 00:23:37 Speaker 3: Missouri? 00:23:38 Speaker 2: Thank you? 00:23:38 Speaker 3: Baby? Yeah? I mean, my god, he loves you now? Oh my god, I love you. I love Michelle. 00:23:49 Speaker 5: Are you putting him in a movie? Is he a lifetime movie? 00:23:52 Speaker 15: You'd like to be my next leading man in my next lifetime Christmas movie? 00:23:55 Speaker 3: Absolutely? 00:23:56 Speaker 15: We have to kiss now. 00:24:00 Speaker 3: Only ones twice? Okay? Open mouth? What is here? What's happening? 00:24:08 Speaker 15: By happened to the show? 00:24:10 Speaker 12: Dan? 00:24:10 Speaker 7: What is happening? 00:24:12 Speaker 3: Just tell me? 00:24:12 Speaker 5: Okay, that's all I want to know. We go from Who's Gonna Win the U NBC Game to open mouth kissing with Michelle? 00:24:18 Speaker 17: What the hell is going on? Thank you guys. J what just happened? 00:24:29 Speaker 1: I got a while? 00:24:30 Speaker 18: Wow. 00:24:31 Speaker 2: Wow, Kevin Fraser, Michelle Turner Entertainment tonight, Thank you baby. By the way, Michelle is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I mean, Kevin's a nice guy, but Michelle. Nobody says anything negative about Michelle. Oh that took a turn Turner, Michelle Turner. 00:24:56 Speaker 3: See what I did, Tom, very clever. It's those hot dogs that got your I know I've had two hot dogs this year. 00:25:01 Speaker 5: You know. 00:25:02 Speaker 2: Hot dog is the kind of thing you eat and you're going, damn, this tastes good, and you immediately feel regret where you go? Why did I eat that hot Dog's night? 00:25:12 Speaker 4: I think night traits are good for creativity. 00:25:13 Speaker 2: It's like white castles. Where you go, Man, they're gonna taste good too. 00:25:18 Speaker 3: Why did I eat six of those? 00:25:21 Speaker 17: D Uh? 00:25:22 Speaker 2: Eric? 00:25:23 Speaker 3: And Oregon? 00:25:23 Speaker 9: Hi? 00:25:24 Speaker 5: Eric? 00:25:24 Speaker 3: What's on your mind today? Good morning? 00:25:28 Speaker 17: Dan? 00:25:29 Speaker 19: Just had a quick best and worst of the weekend. Best of the weekend got to take the family up to Portland and participate in the Portland Shamrock Run. Ended up scoring one of my best times in the half marathon in about five years. And worst of the weekend watching KU get trounced by Houston. 00:25:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, and I watched, well, I started watching and then I was like, wow, this isn't gonna end. Well, it's kind of like the Yukon Saint John's game where you're going, all right, I'm locked in. I'm watching with Yukon grads and they're all still, oh, we're excited. Man. Last time we faced them, we crushed them. And then it's ten to nothing and then all of a sudden it got quieter, quieter. Brett in Florida, Hi, Brett, what's on your mind today? 00:26:19 Speaker 4: Hey? 00:26:19 Speaker 9: DP, how are you great? 00:26:20 Speaker 3: Always great to talk to you. 00:26:23 Speaker 10: I want to say hello to Brian and Rixter real quick in North Carolina. 00:26:26 Speaker 9: They're listening right now. 00:26:28 Speaker 10: Best of the weekend Hotshire University, my alumni, led by Speedy Claxton Legend will be playing in Tampa, so I don't need to drive too far to see them day. 00:26:39 Speaker 7: That's awesome. 00:26:40 Speaker 19: I know it's awesome. 00:26:41 Speaker 5: And most of the weekend. 00:26:43 Speaker 10: Austin Wells is on the Dominican Republic. I mean, I don't know. I was blown away by that. And I also have a pie of the face. Bet anyone in the building brgs. 00:26:55 Speaker 3: I don't care. 00:26:56 Speaker 10: The Dolphins will have a better record than in New York Jets. Your boy Rich Eisen even said that Julian Edelman the other day of an interview that it is painful to be a Jets fan, so not anyone wants it. 00:27:12 Speaker 2: Well, it is painful to be a Jets fan. I mean you don't have to have Julian Edelman on to acknowledge that. Does anybody want a piece of the Dolphins have a better record than the Jets? I mean the Jets should be better. 00:27:31 Speaker 3: Than the Dolphins. 00:27:32 Speaker 8: Yeah, the Jets were outscored last year by two hundred and three points. They were the only defense in the league. 00:27:39 Speaker 2: That gave up over five hundred points and they and they didn't have an interception, right, it's. 00:27:47 Speaker 3: How many interceptions? 00:27:49 Speaker 2: Was the lowest total for an NFL team since they went to seventeen games, so prior to none, what was the lowest number If we can find that out. I'm just curious because it just feels like you could accidentally get ten. 00:28:06 Speaker 1: Five. 00:28:08 Speaker 3: Uh, you got. 00:28:10 Speaker 10: It, Paul. 00:28:10 Speaker 8: Yeah, in twenty eighteen, the forty nine ers only had two and that was the record before then. Dang, before that it was the Houston Oilers and E two had three picks set and records the Jets. 00:28:24 Speaker 3: Rich In Athens Hi Rich. 00:28:28 Speaker 16: Yeah, all right, So as always, uh, sitting here with my puppy dog, Fritzy. 00:28:35 Speaker 7: Thank you. 00:28:35 Speaker 16: Todd Conan is my number one seed celebrity. He is one of my favorites. I've watched all of his material throughout the years, the Tonight Show and the Late Show and his podcast, and so I'm just kind of wondering for you, Dan and all of Dan ed who is the number one seed for your you know, your go to comedy, your late night you're you're celebrity that you just have to watch what they're doing. 00:29:04 Speaker 3: Well. 00:29:04 Speaker 2: I always keep an eye on Sandler because then I can always ask him if I'm going to be in the next movie whenever I see him. So it's basically I'm always He's always under surveillance for me. But as far as late night hosts, I guess you're asking with Conan, I don't. I don't stay up and watch late night TV like that anymore. And most of those shows, I'm guessing their audiences are based on the clips that they show, you know, digital clips that they push out all day. But I I respect every one of those guys for what they do, how they do it, to do it five nights a week, and you know there's part of you that, you know, how political do you get? How political do you not get the balance that you kind of have to have. I mean, I watch Fallin and he's his talented as anybody on TV. And Colbert made the switch and did a great job. Kimmel very funny, you know, going back to The Man Show and him and Adam Krolla and so you know, John Stewart's still doing it. But I just don't I don't stay up. I'll see clips. Yes, Ton The last one I. 00:30:24 Speaker 13: Found consistently funny, it was, and it was worth even staying up till twelve thirty. 00:30:27 Speaker 4: To one thirty in the morning was Letterman. 00:30:29 Speaker 13: To me, between the interviews and just almost everything he did, it was just I just found it start to finish. That was someone that was to me, very very clever, and that was like a must watch show to see The. 00:30:39 Speaker 3: Letter Yeah, yeah, of course it was. 00:30:43 Speaker 2: And he was doing something different, you know, the stupid human tricks and pet tricks and all of that. Even his approach to interviewing people and very quirky, I mean truly a quirky guy when you're around him. But you know, had that ability to be a very bright you know, I mean I go back to Carson, uh, you know just how he was. He just did it and he wasn't afraid to be the butt of a joke. And I think that's that's important too. Even hosting this, you can't be, you know, above everybody. You got to blend in. You got to get dirty. Sometimes you gotta make fun of yourself, and I think Letterman was able to do that. Johnny Carson did that a lot, made fun of himself. 00:31:30 Speaker 6: Yes, marm was Johnny Carson as famous of an American as anybody. 00:31:34 Speaker 3: Pretty he was up there. Heave us a big deal because. 00:31:37 Speaker 6: It feels like if you were a big star, you had to go on the Tonight Show at least watching clips and old social media clips. 00:31:43 Speaker 2: But you know, you're probably getting it forty million people or so watching these things because he only had three channels and Carson was must sy TV. 00:31:55 Speaker 8: Yeah, PAULI, Yeah, you could make the case in the late seventies that Johnny Carson was the most famous America, not the President. You know, you could be three and know who he was. 00:32:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but you didn't have social media clips then you had to stay up and there's three channels. All right, Let's take a break. Final results of the poll question, What we learned? What's in store tomorrow? After this? 00:32:22 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live. Last call for phone calls. 00:32:35 Speaker 2: What we learn? What's in store tomorrow? Final results of the poll question. By the way, Todd has a podcast called The Todcast, available every Thursday at Dan Patrick dot com and listening to this past Thursday, Todd was a little disappointed that he does a segment called the Scoreboard, and we called it the Snoreboard, and Todd was wondering if he should continue to do that. Is that fair to what you were saying? 00:33:02 Speaker 13: I guess so if it's referred to as the snoreboard, and it's you know that I got upset in the moment because like it was very loud in the background, and I was fighting, and then I'm you know, then I got the control room telling me they could barely hear what I said. And I was talking like as loud as I could while there's other things going on. But I'm over it. That's a small thing. You know, it's all good. But in the moment, I had an opportunity event and. 00:33:23 Speaker 2: I took it, okay, But you don't like when people are out there playing basketball and while you're doing No. 00:33:28 Speaker 4: I have no problem with anything going on there. 00:33:30 Speaker 13: There could be jugglers you can bring the woman that does the unicycle with it just got particularly loud that day where it just it was making me it was difficult for me to get through it. 00:33:39 Speaker 4: Then I couldn't be heard. So that's how I felt in that. 00:33:42 Speaker 2: And then you were also disappointed that Paul is the one that wanted you encourage you to do scoreboard, and then Paul wants to reclaim that, and then he criticizes you for what you now. 00:33:52 Speaker 13: He makes some valid points because a lot of times I'll go with, you know, there's a lot of things you can do with the scoreboard, and I tend to go with, you know, a dis date and history kind of thing, which we have list of and a lot of sometimes there's more than sometimes this overlap, which is unintended. 00:34:04 Speaker 2: Well, the concept was it was a play on numbers initially, right. 00:34:08 Speaker 13: It could be a Jersey number, it could be a year, it could be a lot of different things, and a lot of times I end up going with a year, which you know could lead into obviously at this date in. 00:34:16 Speaker 4: History, situation. 00:34:17 Speaker 3: So you can sing, I can. There's a lot of that. 00:34:19 Speaker 4: Yeah, Like what if I picked like a number one song from that day or that week? 00:34:22 Speaker 11: Now I can think, Yes, I was just curious if Todd addressed the issue with the people who are being loud. 00:34:31 Speaker 13: I think I thought it was so blatantly obvious. I decided to stay with my passive aggressive tone. Got it, Well, it was almost intentional, that's how lot it was. 00:34:39 Speaker 4: So I just let it go, you know, I'll deal with it in my own way. 00:34:42 Speaker 3: On your own podcast. 00:34:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, so you did it a passive aggressive I wasn't even. 00:34:46 Speaker 13: A plan topic or anything like that, which normally isn't at all. We just kind of wing it. And then a question I think was asked of me that I looked like I was perturbed on that day after doing the snore board. So I responded it to the question that was asking me. I didn't say to anybody like, let's make sure we hit this topic. 00:35:02 Speaker 8: Or any yes, Paul nineteen ninety six, Dan, this day's for his history. Mike Tyson won the WBC Heavyweight Championship with the TKO of Frank Bruno in round three. I think you saw that earlier on the scoreboard. And in nineteen sixty four, Paul Hornick and Alex carras star NFL players, were reinstated to the league after eleventh month suspension for betting on football games. 00:35:27 Speaker 2: On this date, two thousand and seven, Kobe scored sixty five, including thirty three in the fourth quarter and overtime, Lakers beating Portland. The final results of the poll questions today Seaton no major snubs in the NCAA tournament is a good thing or a bad thing? 00:35:42 Speaker 3: Right now? 00:35:42 Speaker 11: Ninety percent have it as a good thing. Whose acting career would you want? Tom Cruise or Sean Penn eighty five percent of taking Tom Cruise. And then whose acting career would you want here, Harrison Ford or Tom Cruise? Harrison Ford winning that one with about two thirds of the vote. 00:35:57 Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, Paul, I. 00:36:00 Speaker 8: Keep going back to look at these Kobe Bryant box scores that you've been bringing up the past two weeks. There's a thread, there's a trend. His supporting cast was almost always the same six or seven guys. Chris mim is always around, lamar Odom Smush Parker, Bammie Brown, Andrew Bidam, Jordan Farmar, help a brother out. 00:36:20 Speaker 4: Zobe. 00:36:21 Speaker 8: Kobe had a two year run where he was on his own. 00:36:25 Speaker 2: YEP, and basically he probably looked he'd walk out, you know, for the opening tip, and you'd be like, you gotta be kidding me. If I don't get fifty, we're not even competitive in this game. 00:36:37 Speaker 6: Yes, morting the fact that he scored eighty points only once that him. 00:36:42 Speaker 9: Yeah. 00:36:43 Speaker 2: Ronda in Texas, Hi, Ronda. 00:36:48 Speaker 18: Hi Dan, thank you and the dance for drawing in your female listener who absolutely loved your show. And I've heard you mentioned at least twice this morning that you need a secretary. So I'd like to throw in my application and the only compensation in return would be a DVP season set of your show in a seat in the laugh track ring. 00:37:13 Speaker 3: Tone, Wow, Well, thank you, Ronda. 00:37:16 Speaker 9: Yeah. 00:37:18 Speaker 2: I think Michelle Turner from Entertainment Tonight has applied for that job. I think she needs some Entertainment Tonight. 00:37:28 Speaker 7: A lot of chemistry. 00:37:29 Speaker 4: The ever treated you to I'll tell you. 00:37:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, Well it's just it's called charisma. That's the riz is what I have. Kevin Frazier should be nerve. Oh I could swoop in and you know I retire from here, write to Entertainment Tonight, free agent, Yeah, Todd, anything's possible. 00:37:47 Speaker 4: Why not? 00:37:48 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:37:49 Speaker 6: Uh yes, Marvin, So you're you're going to be a correspondent in twenty twenty eight for Entertainment Tonight. 00:37:54 Speaker 2: I'm assuming No, No, I'll be a co host. I'll be sitting there in studio. So you'll be at the eye, yes, okay, yeah, be on the red carpet. You know that's what you really want to do. 00:38:04 Speaker 3: I think I could do it. I think I could have fun. You should do it. 00:38:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, but just you know when I'm yelling out to j Lo Jy Long, yeah, all of them, like Michael b. 00:38:18 Speaker 3: Be yelling at him. Yes. 00:38:20 Speaker 8: I think we talked about it a couple of years ago. A swap. Don't go there for it? Yeah, you for Kevin Fraser for one day. Because Kfrey has hosted this show. I think twice at least. 00:38:31 Speaker 2: Yeah, and if you just had me do the studio show, that's not a big deal because that's all that's taped. You know, you screw something up, you just do it again. 00:38:39 Speaker 8: Yeah, Paul, We're in Los Angeles for eight days next year at the Souper at the Big Game. They had a Big Game. 00:38:44 Speaker 2: Yeah, and maybe I could stop by the BG. Yeah, the Big Game. 00:38:48 Speaker 3: Guys heading to the BGH going to the Big Game. 00:38:51 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Carlos Boozer, he's going to join us on the program tomorrow. That's senior Boozer. Reggie Miller will join it coming up as well. Uh. 00:39:02 Speaker 3: Kendall in Houston joins us. Now hey, but so best and worst? 00:39:09 Speaker 17: Uh. 00:39:11 Speaker 20: I went to the Rodeo last Wednesday night, which goes on for three weeks, and saw a creed in front of seventy thousand people, which was incredible. I know you'll like music and. 00:39:22 Speaker 3: Stuff, but really really really. 00:39:24 Speaker 20: Good chill and it was just it was packed full of a lot of I can't I'll tell you that anyway. And worth was that the Dannfall, the guy I yes played in the tour. I was. I'm a big fan and I hate to see that. But the bar I was, I was screaming us, sir, you was out much all right? 00:39:44 Speaker 2: Thank you, Kendall. Yeah, we've tried to get Scott's staff of creed On. I see avoiding us. 00:39:52 Speaker 3: Don he'll give in eventually, Yeah, Paulie. 00:39:54 Speaker 8: Going back to when we did the Super the World Series, like twenty years ago, they were preparing for the national anthem and so forth. Yeah, we got Andy Garcia on live, Billy Crystal on live, and I went down and asked Scott's stap and he said no, thank you nicely, but he said no thank you, and that's peak Scott's stab. 00:40:14 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:40:15 Speaker 7: Yeah, Mark, So you welcomed him with arms wide open. 00:40:19 Speaker 3: Yes, yes I did. 00:40:22 Speaker 1: I played. 00:40:23 Speaker 2: I played golf with him a long time ago. I don't know if something happened there. Maybe he felt like everybody was making fun of him. Let's go around the room. See what we learned on the program. Howd would you learn today? 00:40:38 Speaker 13: Gustin la literally bumped into a frail, bony Mick Jaggers. 00:40:45 Speaker 2: I'll bet Jagger I could lift him up.
