The a Vision Auto Glass text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four in this distion sponsored by the TJ. Smith Office called TJ. I'll make them pay, you know, I mean to be Mario. They'll be like, you know, twenty mid twenties, you know, famous, you. 00:01:37 Speaker 8: Get your Instagram name dropped on on basketball games. 00:01:41 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean here your quotes. I mean, like what a life. I mean when I was in my mid twenty I was clerking for Judge Caldwell writing memos and this guy. 00:01:50 Speaker 8: I had velcrow shoes And when I started a just I took a toss. 00:01:54 Speaker 2: That was until like four years ago. 00:01:56 Speaker 4: So well, just remember, Matt, the lessons you learned and the growth of experience is never spontaneous. 00:02:01 Speaker 2: That's exactly right. This is never. This isn't spontaneous. I should have I should have known it. Yeah. We uh, we're getting excited about the super Bowl. We now know the parties nice and uh yeah, we're we're getting ready. We're gonna be leaving the Tuesday before the Super Bowl and then coming back during the game. 00:02:20 Speaker 3: So when do I need to meet you guys get ready to go? 00:02:22 Speaker 2: Well you're not going. 00:02:23 Speaker 3: Oh I'm not going. 00:02:25 Speaker 2: Well you're not part of the podcast. 00:02:27 Speaker 3: I thought i'd be long to help just carry stuff. 00:02:29 Speaker 2: No, you're not going. 00:02:30 Speaker 8: We don't go on your real tor events. Yeah, there's different. 00:02:33 Speaker 2: We each get our own room. I don't know how about that. We each get our own own room. That's exciting. 00:02:37 Speaker 8: I will say in defensive of Ryan here and Shannon, who I can't see, but in your part, Mario and Billy on like their second road trip getting their own rooms. 00:02:48 Speaker 2: I feel for the guys we go when we go to the SEC tournament, in the NCAA tournament, you will not get your own room, just so you know, just so we won't forget. Now, for people who want to call the show, Shannon, what is the problem today. 00:03:02 Speaker 4: Well, they can call, but like you and I cannot communicate off the air, which is fine because you and I don't talk off the air anyway. I can roll life. You and I never talk. That's perfectly, don't. I don't see a problem here. It's like normal. 00:03:13 Speaker 2: No, we talk every day off there, so we can't do that. So you when people call, yeah, I would have to hear you talk to them in theory. All right, Well eight nine twenty three they have fixed that part. Still call Shannon, will Shannon will put you on. But and we got a lot of stuff talk about will Stein has been killing it in the portal. Kentucky women get another win. Uh big KSR announcement this morning. But I think we start with the basketball game ended late into the night on Saturday, and Kentucky gets a much needed victory, pulls away at the end, ends up winning by twenty four, but more importantly, just wins. It looked bad started down twelve, jayal and Low gets hurt, Jayden Quayton's doesn't play, Ryan's grumpy Diry the pregame show. Next thing, you know, you think, oh, gloom, despair, season's over. And then they start sharing the basketball and they look like really a heck of a team in the second half, playing the way we'd hope and win by big margin. Yeah. 00:04:15 Speaker 8: After the Missouri loss that I watched on vacation, and then that first half agains Mississippi State. I considered just hiding forever from you all, the temperature of the fan base when I would check in online being it was not good at all. And then to fall down like they did at home after laying the egg the Wednesday before, I thought we were about to hit rock bottom. But luckily that second half was awesome. They pulled away to win big time. 00:04:37 Speaker 2: Seemed to me Ryan the big difference is they start sharing the basketball. They really passed well. They switched the lineup Diabat to the bench for the most part, putting in guys who could shoot at the four. Yellowch got minutes Moreno played excellent. Lot of good stuff happened, and then all of a sudden they look like the that was close to what people wanted it to be. 00:05:02 Speaker 9: I'm as guilty as probably anybody. When they got down twelve and low left the game and the boo birds came out, thought, oh no, this is gonna be a disaster. 00:05:09 Speaker 2: What do you think about the booie? 00:05:12 Speaker 9: I I've always I've always get a right to boof you want. I always just thought it's a bad look, especially at home, and you're booing the way they were early in the game. It was the middle of the first half. 00:05:20 Speaker 4: Premature booing. You should never bow your team first five minutes into the game. There's a lot that can happen. 00:05:25 Speaker 2: Okay, so premature boo jaculation. Yeah, yeah, I thought that's a great way to put its. The last five minutes fair enough, but not the first five. Yeah, but it's a little bit of premature boo jaculation. 00:05:37 Speaker 3: Like it was. 00:05:38 Speaker 2: It was a little early to boot. 00:05:39 Speaker 3: I thought so too. 00:05:40 Speaker 2: I mean, and you know, for some reason I said this on the post game. It almost bothered me more to boo at Rough than it did down in Nashville. 00:05:49 Speaker 3: I totally agree with you. 00:05:50 Speaker 2: I don't know why it was. Maybe it's because RUP's runs were there. Yeah, and it was. I will say I was there. It was louder than I thought it was. Like I like, sometimes the boot sound worse on TV than they are in person because it's not as many people. It was quite a few people Drew. I mean, it was. It was more than I would have thought at that stage. 00:06:12 Speaker 8: I wondered that because I'm usually at home games, I's maybe one a year, and that's when I was watching on TV and I thought I wish I could be there in this instance specifically to just know if this is a microphone thing or how loud the crowd. 00:06:23 Speaker 2: It still it's not even half the people, but like normally if you hear booze, maybe it's like ten percent or eight percent. This was probably more like fifteen to twenty. I mean, it just felt like there were more people booing than I would have thought in a rough home game. And I don't like booing. But at the same time, I do agree with Shannon even if you do. It felt a little early, way too early. 00:06:46 Speaker 8: But they did turn it around after the booing, and the crowd was very big and turning. You could hear them kind of willing them to get it back together. Yes, taking crowd there, it was a good crowd. 00:06:56 Speaker 2: They put will Stein on the on the big screen. That was it was like twenty eight twenty two when they put him on the big screen, and next thing you know, it was twenty thirty to twenty nine. I mean, like they he turned it around. I think will Stein being on there, I think will Stein was partially doing it because he had huge recruits there that the booie Yeah, maybe didn't look great. 00:07:14 Speaker 8: I was very worried about the booing with the football re crews there them thinking do these fans hate their own team? But then when will Stein got that pop, that showed those players, all right, football is big here too. 00:07:23 Speaker 2: By the way, I like, I already like one of the UK things that they're doing. Did you see they're sitting now recruits directly behind the announcers. Oh I saw that game. Yeah, that's Seneca Driver. Yeah, put him right behind the TV announcers so that he would be on screen. Shannon, do you like that? Oh yeah, of course. 00:07:41 Speaker 4: Anything you can do to make these guys feel a little extra special, I think you smart. 00:07:45 Speaker 2: Yeah, you know. Vince used to march them up at the end of the first TV time. I prayed them the long way and pray them wrong. Will was kind of taking them and just walking, like meandering by the student section with them like look and then like the you know, I think the students would figure out, oh, that's a player, and they'd start yelling, come here, come here. I mean think they knew which one it was, but they would say that. 00:08:11 Speaker 8: Well, when Kyl was bringing in the top dogs, the student section was very good about knowing them yelling at him. Making him feel welcome. We've seen that with football a little bit now too, with Don in that group, the student sections big and uh, letting these guys know how bad they're wanted. 00:08:23 Speaker 2: So then second half sharing the ball of taking away place great. 00:08:28 Speaker 10: Uh. 00:08:29 Speaker 2: Surprised how well they did without a point guard. You know, had Jasper in for a few minutes. But even like Aberdeen and Chandler looked too. Everybody looked comfortable. I think though the big thing to say is Diabate didn't play. Looked a little sour in the postgame interview. What do you think. 00:08:51 Speaker 9: You're right that they got contributions from everybody that played, but Diabate. But they played better with Cam Wings was at the full at the four. 00:08:58 Speaker 2: They just played with Betty t you about the only play twelve minutes. 00:09:01 Speaker 9: Yeah, they were better with him on the bench and with Cam at the four. They were just better for that game especially. 00:09:08 Speaker 3: But you know what was crazy. 00:09:09 Speaker 9: We said in the pregame show, this is why you bring Diabate to Kentucky for a game against Misissippi State or rough tumble didn't happen, didn't need him. 00:09:17 Speaker 2: I do wonder if they're going to be better with him on the bench because they just shoot better. Diapate crowds the paint when you play two bigs. You know, I don't know if it works. 00:09:31 Speaker 8: I like how tough and physical he was earlier in the year when they needed it, but the back of my mind was like, this isn't working because they need a shooter. I think that's been the biggest part of the problems with the offense is that four just doesn't have a threat of a shooter. 00:09:43 Speaker 2: So I agree, you gotta go in another. 00:09:45 Speaker 8: As much as good as he is a rebounding that other stuff that you need, it just I think it really handcuffs everyone with him out there where he can't help spread the floor. 00:09:53 Speaker 2: I mean, by the end, they were basically playing Cam Williams at the four with yellowch as the backup, and then Moreno Garrison at the five. Maybe that's what you just have to do. And then they had Marino and Garrison together a couple of times, which can also work because Garrisons has a threat of a three, so does Moreno. I just wonder if, like the abate just doesn't fit with what Pope does. I think Pope thought he could be Amari Williams, but that hasn't really worked out, and he does not look happy. 00:10:25 Speaker 3: No, he didn't look happy, and. 00:10:27 Speaker 8: The team looks to be having fun again. But there are multiple examples of him, not just this last game, like the last three or four games, yelling at an assistant or a teammate when they cut to the bench. He seems to be jawing with someone at least once a game we get a little glimpse of that. 00:10:41 Speaker 2: No, I think that's that had been whispered behind the scenes. It's you don't even have to be behind the scenes to see it. 00:10:47 Speaker 6: Now. 00:10:47 Speaker 2: You can see see that issue now. Low. Do you think he just shuts it down. 00:10:55 Speaker 3: I won't be shocked if he does. 00:10:57 Speaker 2: I mean, I wouldn't blame him. 00:10:58 Speaker 3: I wouldn't either. 00:10:59 Speaker 9: That's three times, third time he's gone down, And when he came out this time it was in a sling underneath these warm up You know you. 00:11:05 Speaker 3: Could tell, okay, this didn't even put his arm through, and he put his arm through. 00:11:08 Speaker 9: To his hoodie. So I won't I won't be shocked. I mean, I'm we're gonna miss him for sure. But they played pretty well without him. Offensively. He gave me a game, though. 00:11:18 Speaker 2: I still think long term that's gonna be hard. Sure, But at the same time, I wouldn't blame me. 00:11:24 Speaker 3: I wouldn't either. 00:11:25 Speaker 2: I mean, you know, he ran like he literally ran directly to the locker room even before the play was open, Like he knew it hurts. It's got to be painful, Drew, you know it'll hurt us. But I would understand if he decided not to do it. 00:11:38 Speaker 8: This is the second time in what four or five games where minutes into it he runs to the locker. 00:11:44 Speaker 2: Room, and like, if you watch very innocuous looking plays, yeah. 00:11:49 Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm also watching. On Mondays, the players usually do the press conference. It's been that way all year. Two players early week, Pope at the back end of the week. Pope's doing Today's which just you know, got some antennas up, like why is Pope doing Monday? Does he have news to share that he doesn't want, you know, Cam Williams or Brandon Garrison to have to sit up there and talk about So I wonder if there is gonna be an update during the Monday press conference since Pope's doing it. 00:12:12 Speaker 2: You may be right now Quainton's didn't play. You were grumpy in the pregame show. 00:12:17 Speaker 8: I've heard rumors of that. What happened in the pregame? 00:12:20 Speaker 2: What was going on? No one heard it except like because Mario was out flirting with the people at the restaurant and Shannon and Billy were not on it. So well, Billy was doing the thing. But it was really just me and you and you. You were you were being grumpy, you were you were yelling, and it was it was not like people were very upset. I was trying to calm you down. 00:12:41 Speaker 9: I was just we had conversation, and I was taking the conspiracy theory side of the of the discussion. 00:12:47 Speaker 3: It was just a discussion. 00:12:48 Speaker 2: You were also like like the people were checking wellness checks you like, are you so what it was happening? 00:12:55 Speaker 3: Nothing. I was just taking the side you were. 00:12:57 Speaker 2: Like Klayton's wasn't gonna play anymore. 00:13:00 Speaker 3: That's the conspiracy theory is. 00:13:02 Speaker 2: But I think you created it. 00:13:04 Speaker 3: No, No, it's out there. I didn't create I just brought it up. 00:13:07 Speaker 2: Where is it? 00:13:08 Speaker 6: You know? 00:13:08 Speaker 3: You just go to Jayden quaints dot com. It's all over the place. 00:13:11 Speaker 2: I haven't been to Jadan Quaintons dot com. 00:13:13 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's there. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: How would you how would you spell quaintance, Well you can google it if you were to tell me Q okay, then what you all right? 00:13:24 Speaker 9: All right, I n t E n c E. 00:13:31 Speaker 2: It. That's how you get you to a broken web page. If you take that, it. 00:13:36 Speaker 4: Takes you to go daddy dot com. 00:13:38 Speaker 2: But that's the problem. That's the conspiracy theory. That is he went to Jaden quaint tints and that was the problem. 00:13:45 Speaker 8: Now that guy might not be playing, but quite tanse I'm hoping still play, so Drew. 00:13:51 Speaker 9: What I brought up was the fact that he's announced he's not going to play days after his dad was very vocal on social media about being upset. 00:13:58 Speaker 2: Mark Pope was very clear, just swelling yep. So unless both doesn't know. But I just thought you were very concerned. Then you were like ranting about his press conference and like it was just it was just a weird first segment, but just then you coult him down. I got you a tater keg and things never better discussions. 00:14:18 Speaker 3: I think that needed to happen on the pregame show, and we wanted was it yeah. 00:14:21 Speaker 2: Okay, I haint thought I missed it. Well he was, he was worked up. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. All right, now Shannon can answer the phones. Text machine seven seven two s four five two five four. Do you have more optimism after this game? Are you certain we're gonna make the tournament? That's my next question. We return its KOSR. Water Back in his Kentucky Sports radio e f I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine seven seven two s four five two five four. What person rights? Uh, Matt? People now give immediate feedback. That's just what happens. Sometimes the team needs to hear that we do not approve of their play. All right, slow down. I mean you can do it. I don't think that like the team needs it. I don't think the team is like, you know what. I'd be interested in what the fans think about how we're playing right now, But I mean, I don't That's a different question than whether you're allowed to express it. I'm not gonna I think you're I'm not gonna say, you know, what the team needs is to hear me boo. I don't know that that's the case. 00:15:21 Speaker 8: Yeah, And if you're just booing when you're unhappy, you could find a stretch of just about every game where you're disappointing how they're planning for a few minutes. I think, uh, Saturday, that was mostly lingering from the Missouri loss and the way that ended there, A lot of that was still pent up. 00:15:34 Speaker 2: They wanted to let that out on Saturday and let them know it. After that rough start, we verse rights, Matt. One of my favorite moments of the Postgame show ever happened on Saturday night when Moreno's mom. 00:15:44 Speaker 3: Called, Yeah, I heard that. 00:15:46 Speaker 2: That was great, that's cool. Very into the show, uh huh, Like very into the show, a caller had called and said, it's Malachi Marino. Stop saying Moreno. And I did not think that could be true, because it's m It's m O R E n O. So where's the ree it's three plus. That just seemed to me how from like a Spanish Hispanic perspective, you would say it. So we kept debating it, and then his mom called in and she was like, very, she was full of joy. She was she had already Shannon kinda got mad at me earlier becouse because she said when he was a junior in high school, I said, I didn't know if he was good enough to play here, which I did. 00:16:31 Speaker 3: Mom was listening. 00:16:34 Speaker 2: And I didn't mean it, but then I said, look, I was an idiot, and she laughed, and so then she called the postgame show and she was she was delightful and she said Moreno, and I still had people. This goes to show I still had people. Will write the text machine arguing I'm like, I think she would know. She cleared it up. She says Maree. Now apparently at the UK Games they say Marie, but it is more so. The UK announcer is actually incorrect. It's moreno, but the UK official Gode says Marino. 00:17:08 Speaker 8: That's what I'm pulling right now. They always have the pronunciations in this. 00:17:11 Speaker 2: So they have it wrong. 00:17:12 Speaker 3: I've heard it both ways his whole life. 00:17:14 Speaker 2: But I mean, can we all agree his mother is the is the final DISI. 00:17:18 Speaker 3: That's her name, Mama. Mama dictates what we go. 00:17:20 Speaker 2: With, so we say moree. If UK has Marie, they're just wrong. She's looking at it right now. They do have Marie in the official UK is wrong. Mom says Shannon, it's moreno. Do you have to roll the R. 00:17:32 Speaker 3: I'm being told. 00:17:35 Speaker 6: You are. 00:17:35 Speaker 2: But when I tried to do it, she said, I sounded Italian. Try Melaineo, it's. 00:17:43 Speaker 3: Kind of Italian. 00:17:47 Speaker 2: Did you do it? Are both very good? 00:17:51 Speaker 8: Can you do you need anybody to say the name? 00:17:56 Speaker 2: Just have Ryan or I do it. But I can't roll the r. I just I just have to make it Italian. But he always held me back in Spanish one. 00:18:05 Speaker 3: I'll tell you what. 00:18:06 Speaker 9: That dude came to play those Saturday night. It's a good thing he came because it came to play because they needed he did. 00:18:11 Speaker 2: I think whatever his stat line was, it was like seventeen six rebounds, four assists, force steels. Only two players in the UK history had ever gotten it, Shake Gil just Alexander and Rajon Rondo. Hey rebounds he was. 00:18:23 Speaker 8: You know, he's still a little way to go to get the triple double, but those are I can get a triple double numbers, it's not too far off that he could get. In that conversation, all right, So we're gonna make the tournament. 00:18:34 Speaker 4: I'm jury is still out in my book, specify which tournament and I t R N C double, A and C double. 00:18:40 Speaker 9: Here's why I'm saying that if Jalen Lowe is out for the year and A quainting sneed's gonna bother him like this. I'm still the jury's out. I'm not gonna decide. 00:18:48 Speaker 2: So I said before the game, we need to go eight and eight the rest here and make turnament. We got one win, so we need to find seven wins. Okay, can you find them? Somebody pull up the schedule, let's pick it, all right, all right, just give me, give me the games. Well, we have l s U and Tennessee this week, both road games LSU win, Tennessee loss, so I've got one win. 00:19:09 Speaker 8: Then two home games Texas Ole miss win win. There's three, then back on the road two games Vandy Arkansas loss loss Fandy so good, back home for two games. A lot of the two games swings Oklahoma and Tennessee. 00:19:23 Speaker 2: Tennessee is gonna be a swing game. We gotta win one of the two Tennessee games. That'll get us to five. 00:19:28 Speaker 8: Valentine's Day at Florida loss, then you come back to host Georgia, win six. 00:19:34 Speaker 2: At Auburn could win. I'm gonna say between at Tennessee and at Auburn. Between Tennessee at home and at Auburn, we get one, so I'll stay at six. 00:19:46 Speaker 8: Uh, South Carolina away. 00:19:48 Speaker 2: Seven, that's our seven that gets us in the tournament. We get in the tournament at South Carolina, then what then A tough three great game stretch. Vandy at home. I must say win because the crowd's going to be into it. A and M away that's a loss. 00:20:02 Speaker 3: Florida at home Senior Day, I think we win. 00:20:06 Speaker 2: I'm gonna say we go nine and nine in conference getting the tournament, where like a seven eight nine seed, and that's that. 00:20:12 Speaker 8: Nine and nine gets them in for sure. I think ken Palm predicts all the games. Ken Palm has them losing nine the rest of the way, including LSU tomorrow or Wednesday. 00:20:20 Speaker 2: We LUs he's a big one. That's another one we gotta win. I mean, we didn't give up. I thought LSU was a game we could drop, but that was what I assumed we would beat Missouri. So now to make up for the Missouri game, we've got to win. Mario has in the history of his time at KSR, only picked Kentucky to lose twice ever against Indiana and then Saturday, and we want them both. So he's now zero to two picking against Kentucky. 00:20:46 Speaker 4: Shannon keep doing it. Mario, maybe he should keep doing keep being negative, negative, negative, but your negative inspiration with all of. 00:20:55 Speaker 2: His inspiration, he's actually he's almost like his own booing in the crowd. 00:20:59 Speaker 8: He's been more already most of the year, even in Buffalo when we were playing pool there, you know he's being negative. That was even before we took on more losses. 00:21:06 Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question. You kind of know the T like, you're our connection to the team. Get on the microphone here, I want you to give us, give us the moda bade, give us the T, the T, THET. It's kind of clear to me that they don't get along. I'm just I see what what you're seeing now. You see more you go to the clubs and you're at the barber shop. Theality's like, like, what do you tell me for real? 00:21:38 Speaker 10: Of all of the teams, I don't see this this team out as much. Usually teams you see them out, you know, going out. 00:21:44 Speaker 2: But I don't see they get along. I don't know. No, that's not what I asked you. Do you think they give you. 00:21:50 Speaker 10: My opinion, yes, as far as what I see on TV and then like in person, not really, Okay, that's just my opinion know he. 00:22:00 Speaker 2: Knows more than he knows more. 00:22:02 Speaker 8: Mario knows everything. 00:22:03 Speaker 2: Marios. Mario's got that. There's like some sort of there's some sort of like code that occurs with like a handful of the Lexington population where they just look at each other and they communicate. Mario's part of that. I'll see him give a nod when we walk down the street to someone and he'll walk away and be like, yeah, he's transferring. I'm like, all he did was nod and he goes, yeah, but you could just tell and then and then he leaves. 00:22:31 Speaker 8: I noticed like at the bar, like Darius Miller Willie, that's my era. Those are my friends. They walk right past me to do their secret handshake with Mario. 00:22:39 Speaker 2: Like how do you even know that? Mariock with you? Like Jonathan Davis comes up and they're doing it. They like, Hey, you don't even know each other. He knows everybody. He knows everybody. So I do think we're gonna make the tournament. In your scenario, we made it, but I'm not. We don't have a lot of leeway to make the tournament. We'll take your calls after this. I have nine two eighth twenty two eighty sevens KOSR. TJ. 00:23:02 Speaker 8: Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:23:05 Speaker 2: He'll make them. 00:23:06 Speaker 4: Pay now more Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:10 Speaker 2: Here's Matt Jones walking back Tey Sports Radio. What'd you think, mister journalist about the woman in Jacksonville? 00:23:18 Speaker 9: Uh, that's the wrong time and place for that thing to happen. I don't know who that woman was. I don't know who she worked for. But that's after a game. 00:23:26 Speaker 2: Did you give ale? 00:23:28 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:23:28 Speaker 4: So, yeah, we played it on the pre show. I didn't have that much of a problem with it. 00:23:31 Speaker 2: I had no problem with I think Ryan's just a curmudgeingly old big jay journalist. 00:23:36 Speaker 3: I just don't think that's the time and place. 00:23:39 Speaker 6: Lady. 00:23:40 Speaker 4: Yeah, it sounds like your grandmother talking. 00:23:41 Speaker 3: Keep your head up, young man, you keep your head up. 00:23:43 Speaker 2: What's wrong with that? Can you not have somebody keep their head out? He should keep his head up, keep your head up? Well was she going to say? 00:23:49 Speaker 8: How was the what do you think of your cornerbacks? Who cares? 00:23:52 Speaker 2: She's a nice woman, like she makes cast her roles? 00:23:55 Speaker 3: What's she doing back there? Who's she working for? 00:23:58 Speaker 2: Newspaper? Jacksonville Free Press that she's worked for the Jacksonville pre Free Press for twenty eight years. 00:24:03 Speaker 3: He keep your head up, young man. You did a good job, Duvall. 00:24:06 Speaker 2: But see you say that, But I could see you doing that. 00:24:09 Speaker 3: Not in a news conference, sating on. 00:24:11 Speaker 2: We don't think you wouldn't tell a player if Dane let me ask you a question. Yeah, if Dane was back there and he had dropped the catch to win the game, and you had a job of reporting, you don't think you'd say keep your head up. You think you'd pepper him with question. Privately? Of course I would, But what about public. No, you wouldn't look at Dane Key and go keep your head up. 00:24:34 Speaker 3: That's just not the time and place for it. 00:24:35 Speaker 2: No, I don't know about that, but I'm fine with it. She's a life. She's a nice old lady. Everybody got a yell in this time of hatred. Everybody hates each other. No one has any empathy. Everybody like just take sides and roots for what they happen. We have all this turmoil. This lady looked at Liam Cohen and just said, hey, keep your head up. And people get mad at that, of all the things to get mad. 00:24:59 Speaker 8: At and everyone complaining about it. What's your favorite question from a press conference? You don't know any because you don't normally pay attention. You saw one moment and decide to get on the internet and hate on this woman who has the sweetest voice, and this probably makes. 00:25:12 Speaker 2: The best pies. 00:25:14 Speaker 8: I bet she's I don't know that she's a grandmother, maybe she's any bet. I bet there are children and her family that absolutely adore her. And it was just a brief moment. We have players bring the kids light up. Yeah, because he was getting a nice, positive, inspiring message. 00:25:29 Speaker 2: See, this is the problem she pausing all this turmoil in the world. 00:25:35 Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm kind of surprised that Ryan's take. I didn't think that Ryan would would be so against the scene. 00:25:40 Speaker 2: I knew he would because he's mister I'm a journalist. I went to journalism, whereas I'm like a human interaction of humans being human And we're not talking about the invasion of Venezuela. We're talking about a football game. 00:25:59 Speaker 9: So in the Hope has another loss, and he's got his head down and he's moping. He's not he's not being very talkative. Tom Leach needs to say, hey, can you keep your head up, young man. 00:26:07 Speaker 2: Tom Leach. Actually, I wouldn't bother me if Tom Leach did. I think you need a mix. Okay, if everybody's like that, then I actually think that's not good. But if there's one lady like that. 00:26:19 Speaker 3: Does it make a difference. It's a female for me. 00:26:22 Speaker 2: In fact, it's a little old lady. Does I think it's not that old, But the fact that it's a lady that makes it a different thing to me. I just don't think you need to be so harsh. You are why society is fraying at the ends. I'm a reporter at its core, damn it. Well, I'm a human that my core. 00:26:40 Speaker 8: Also a lot of press conferences, the football questions are stupid. Like a lot of times these questions are wasting time. 00:26:46 Speaker 9: Anyway, I will say this, Liam Colin handled it great. He was very appreciative, very thankful. 00:26:50 Speaker 5: You know. 00:26:51 Speaker 2: I just think you look at the kind of media that people. You need to be able to ask the hard questions when it's right. But I also think it's okay to be a human being. Like if we brought Mark Pope in here for an interview, let's say, after the Missouri loss, okay, and he were to start like crying, are you gonna yell at him? 00:27:13 Speaker 7: Ye? 00:27:13 Speaker 2: Tell him to keep his head up. 00:27:15 Speaker 3: When we go to commercial break. I'm sure I'll tell you, man, he keep your head up. It's all right. 00:27:19 Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell him, keep your head up. 00:27:21 Speaker 8: She's also the associate editor for her job. She knows what she's doing. 00:27:25 Speaker 3: She's not a reporter. 00:27:26 Speaker 2: Go ahead, Steve. See this is that he acts like he's a nuclear What this is? 00:27:34 Speaker 6: What? 00:27:35 Speaker 2: Maybe he should have taken the vacation. Should go ahead, Steve. 00:27:40 Speaker 11: Hey, guys, what's up? Can you hear me? 00:27:43 Speaker 2: Yes? Go ahead? 00:27:44 Speaker 11: Hello, hey, can first question is for Matt. It's a legal question. The nil contracts with the players? Is that public record? 00:27:55 Speaker 2: No? Now there. It's an open question whether or not the REV share will be as of this moment. I think part of the reason they went to a private company is to not have to share the REV share numbers. Someone's gonna challenge that in court, and I'm not sure they're gonna be able to hold it up. I'm not sure they're going to be able to say we're spending state money on these players and not say what it is. But as of this moment they do not, and then nil deals are not public record at all. 00:28:26 Speaker 11: Well, that's interesting. It'd be fun to see what these get, what those contracts look like. 00:28:32 Speaker 2: Yeah, all people want to know, but that's how it is right now. I think it's gonna be hard for them to for the University of Kentucky to pay nineteen or twenty million dollars to people and not have to say what it is. But we'll see that some court one day. We'll decide that right. 00:28:49 Speaker 11: And the other thing. The two most important guys to be on the floor are o Way and Malakat. I don't think Malakai gets enough credit for what he is done as a big freshman. There's no way j Q should be starting in front of the malaca. Where do you think about that? 00:29:07 Speaker 2: I agree with that. I agree with the second part of that. I don't think he's the second most important. I mean, I appreciate the call. I do think. I think if he was healthy, Low would be the most important. If he is not healthy, then I agree with you Oway is the most important. I mean I could see a case for Moreno, I think cam Williams to me is second because I think he just spreads. 00:29:26 Speaker 8: The floor and allows the shooting. He's been playing some good defense too. He really has all year when he gets opportunities. If Moreno plays anything like he did on Saturday, then yeah, he can be in that conversation. I think he only had maybe one turnover and eight for ten from the field. 00:29:40 Speaker 2: And he's had and he was great the Missouri game except for those last couple of minutes. 00:29:44 Speaker 9: Yeah, so I think, like I said, they got good contributions from just about everybody. Everybody Diabata and well, if Trent came in for like a minute, whatever what happened to him. 00:29:52 Speaker 2: Let's think he got hurt on that play. I don't know. 00:29:55 Speaker 9: I've never heard anybody say what has happened? He came in for like one minute. Next thing, you know, his day's out, limping off the court. 00:30:00 Speaker 7: Go ahead, Todd, Hey, good morning, man, as how's your dad doing? 00:30:06 Speaker 2: He's doing okay, thank you? 00:30:08 Speaker 7: Okay, Hey, I'm wanna shout out tomorrow. I came up to the game. I'm in from Florida. My mom's in Beriah. She's celebert and a birthday right for Thanksgiving. He took time to take a picture with me and give my mom a happy birthday shout out. But uh, what I'm calling about. 00:30:22 Speaker 2: Hey, I think he was glad to do it. He's not on the mic, but he was glad to do it. 00:30:29 Speaker 5: Yeah, we said. 00:30:30 Speaker 7: We was sat up there close to where the press box in the nosebleed section, and he was right close to mean me and you, and we ended up at the end of the game. We got to get a picture of Pope that put icing on the cake for my mom's birthday, so to speak. But anyway, Uh, I called you last year, Uh we had we got the same problem. I believe the substitution pattern. I know we a lot of things have been negative for the last bit. I think we could have a decent season if Pope would get his substitution panter right, and if you notice, let me go to this. We were cutting the lead at Alabama down to ten between thirteen and twelve minute marks ago second half. He changed the lineup against Missouri, were leading, and he changed the lineup and he brings in two or three players. He took a way out of the night after he hit a three. 00:31:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, the oh way was bad. We gave up like five points a moment we took him out. I agree with you, and I appreciate the call. I like the I don't like the fact that he brings in three guys at once. I will say he seems to be doing it less. There seems to be letting the top guys play more and more. As this season's gone on. 00:31:41 Speaker 8: He's shortening the rotations. But going back to his first game here, there's been times where you'll see a guy get a hot hand and it's straight to the bench and you're thinking, what in the world. 00:31:49 Speaker 2: Do you did? Guy just now got locked on that run now immediately took him out and then immediately it was a five zero run by the other team. 00:31:57 Speaker 8: That's not new to this season. I remember him doing that a couple times last year too. He just he gets his script in his mind and sticks to it. 00:32:02 Speaker 9: It seems like in the second half, though, the guys are playing the best that he's been rolling with him. 00:32:06 Speaker 2: Yes, which is which confirms my point, Shain, and that the analytics, if we need to take them out a role because they play him the whole second half. 00:32:15 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, if. 00:32:16 Speaker 2: It's if if if you got to take a break after three minutes when they don't do that in the second half. 00:32:20 Speaker 3: No, they don't. 00:32:24 Speaker 2: I mean just play. Yeah, we looked up the reps runs and I'm not one of these people to be like, oh, back in the day, but the five starters played every minute. Yeah, like the bench did not get in and they didn't have problems like, you know, running out of breath. You know, I mean it was basketball, didn't Sean clack and there's it's a different thing back then. I grant it, but still, uh, you know, I don't. I'm with the caller on that, Hey, don't let aches and pains fall into the new year. Start twenty twenty six. Strong court physical therapy can help get you back to what you love. Whether you want to get back in the gym, pick up a new sport, or get around, A physical therapist can help you do so. Over seventy locations. There's one near you go check them out. It's court dot Com. It's kart dot com. We got some news about UK football. They just keep getting players, a ton of them. Yesterday, we'll be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio. I loved when I was driving this weekend and I heard this because it was like when all these commitments were coming, Kentucky got a ton of players let's just go through them. They got the number two offensive tackle in the portal, kid from Tennessee. They got the number four linebacker in the portal. Obviously, they already had the number one interior offensive linemen, they had the number ten quarterback. They've now added another top offensive lineman. There's a ton of players coming through, but I think getting that number, They've now got their left tackle, They've got their center, they've got their quarterback, they've got their linebacker. They've still got a couple other guys they're probably gonna add. Right now, they have the number four ranked class in the portal. Pretty exciting stuff for Kentucky. Sure is. 00:34:02 Speaker 8: He has been absolutely killing it so far. I got a lot of it done already, was still five days to go. I know they're targeting a couple more. Uh, just the woman stands out to me. I know he's been out the last year and a half, but getting CJ. Baxter from Texas to help out that all that's name. They didn't think they were gonna get him. He went to Indiana. 00:34:20 Speaker 2: They assumed he was going to go to Indiana, and then he was at his Indiana visit and called and said, I think I want to come to Kentucky, and they were kind of surprised, I think after Idiota just murdered another team and it's playing the national championship. Now you get the running back from Texas. So you got your running back. 00:34:36 Speaker 9: A guy that was the number one running back coming out of high school, five star goes to Texas. 00:34:40 Speaker 2: Well, let's talk. They got a commitment from a linebacker that was the number one player in America coming out of high school. Yes, and then a running back. It was a number one running back coming out of high school. Now, neither of them have done that yet in college, but that's pretty good talent to give it to give a shot off of. 00:34:58 Speaker 8: Right at, Texas had a great freshman year that injuries heard him early in his sophomore year, then he missed all of last season. If he can get back to full health and his recovery and plays anything like he did as a freshman and builds on that, I think they have a great shot. He's just been so limited, but he just a high recruits you said, coming in with talent. He just hadn't had the chance to show it yet. All right, Shannon, I gotta tell you a story about your guy Mario in my house. 00:35:23 Speaker 2: Oh okay. 00:35:23 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:35:24 Speaker 2: So while I was gone, h while I was in last week, I said, all right, Mario, I want you one of my my New Year's work resolution. I had my New Year's personal resolution about contacting people. That's going great. I have had lunch with people I haven't seen in a while, hung out with pairing Friday night, pear Bear. How's parabat to hang out with pear Bear? That was good. Well, my work resolution is I gotta start doing these TikTok videos. I only have like five or six. So I said to Mario, do me a favor. We need to set up a place in my house, like a little place so the lighting's good, you know, because lighting's all it's everything. Right, He got one of those little ring lights. I was like, all right, well, I'm gone just go to my house and find a place to set up. Now you're probably thinking the chaining in that regard. He'll find a place in my house and he'll. 00:36:17 Speaker 4: Set up there, right, Yeah, that's what I would expect. 00:36:20 Speaker 2: I didn't think Mario is going to rearrange my entire house in order to have a video place. I walk into my house Saturday night, he has moved everything I own into a different place, extreme o makeover. He has taken a chair, a chair like a cushion chair, and put it in the middle of the kitchen. There is one of my living room chairs is in the kitchen. 00:36:51 Speaker 8: Okay, when's the last time you're in your kitchen? 00:36:53 Speaker 2: It's in the kitchen. He's got a camera set up in the middle of the kitchen with a chair like a lazy boy chair in the middle of the kitchen. My rug is in shambles. He's got one of my couches pushed up against the wall. He has taken my books and just decided to throw them all over the building. And then he's just left. He's just left. And so the camera is set up with the light, but my chair is in the kitchen, and I can't even move around the house. And then there where is the couch and chair are? It's just a big blank thing of floor in the middle of the living room. Now my question for you, Mario, it looked good, but do you expect me to live like that? Do you expect me to live with my main chair in the middle of the kitchen. 00:37:53 Speaker 8: The priority was to make the lighting look good, But. 00:37:57 Speaker 2: To me it did look good. But this needs to be a sleution that I can have all the time. I could have figured out to just put all my stuff in like different. I need something that I can set up. I can't have my chair in the kitchen. 00:38:11 Speaker 8: You need a little corner where it's just set up, ready to go all the time. I can just turn on a light and it's on the lights. 00:38:18 Speaker 2: Hey, okay, that'll just great. 00:38:19 Speaker 6: But you. 00:38:21 Speaker 2: I can't have my living room with stacks of books in the center and nowhere to sit. It did look awkward. I know where you left it like that? 00:38:30 Speaker 8: What was the backdrop in the kitchen like your fridge? 00:38:33 Speaker 2: No, he set he moved my bookshelf, moved the fridge, unplugged the fridge. 00:38:38 Speaker 8: Fridges in the living room now and the fridges now in the living room. 00:38:43 Speaker 2: At least the lighting is good. But the lighting looks great in these videos. So we're gonna have to to find you understand what I'm getting. Okay, So no more. I mean you it was a start, Well it was a finish because I had to put it all back. 00:39:00 Speaker 6: Did you. 00:39:01 Speaker 2: I'm not leaving my chair in the kitchen. 00:39:04 Speaker 8: Just sit there and read a book, stare at your sink. 00:39:07 Speaker 2: I wanted to watch the game. I had to lay on the floor into the kitchen. 00:39:14 Speaker 5: Danny, go ahead, Danny, hey Man, good to talk to you guys again. 00:39:20 Speaker 2: Good time. 00:39:21 Speaker 5: I just want to say, I think Jaq, I think you can't blame him if he does want to sit out the rest of the season, because this same is not really that good Wisdym Martin's outing. 00:39:32 Speaker 2: Are you talking about lower queens? Are you talking about lower quaints? 00:39:36 Speaker 5: Quite? 00:39:38 Speaker 2: I think Quaintance needs to play. I mean I assuming, not granted, I don't know, assuming because whatever his goals are, I think playing are gonna is gonna help him. If he doesn't play, I don't think he will be a top ten pick if he's only gotten three games of college experience. 00:39:58 Speaker 5: James, he hasn't done really all that, so it could be hurting his stock. 00:40:01 Speaker 2: It could, well, it could, it could, but I don't know. I mean, this is a great draft. I just think it would be hard for him to move in the top ten if he doesn't play. But what was your second point? 00:40:13 Speaker 5: Well, I just think low should go ahead and get his surgery and be ready for next year. You know, I don't want to say the kids go through a lot more pain, and that's all I got. 00:40:23 Speaker 2: I agree with that. I do agree with that. I appreciate the call. I kind of think and it's likely the case Low should have the surgery. Granted I'm not a doctor, and if he wants to play, I'll be cheering HIMND he's a tough kid, but I could see why it would be time he's. 00:40:36 Speaker 3: Shown his toughness. 00:40:37 Speaker 2: Man. 00:40:37 Speaker 9: I mean, most guys probably would have checked out early on, and he's fought back, trying to fight do it, come back and play. And he's a guy that does have another year of eligible eligibility, so he could come back for another year next year. 00:40:47 Speaker 2: Mike, go ahead, Mike. 00:40:51 Speaker 6: Hey, guys, so I have I have some concerns, I guess, and the only thing is is that so with Moreno and with Jasper Johnson. You know, these guys to me kind of are I think they're very important to UK. And the thing is is with with Jasper, especially Jasper is a you know, a McDonald's all American. This kid has such talent and energy and I think he can do so much, you know, for this team, given the fact, given the opportunity to really contribute and play, But the fact is that he's not been getting the opportunity. I think really concerns me is the fact is that this is a kid that we might lose next year, and I don't and I don't want to lose him. 00:41:44 Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, I have to catch off because we go to break. Are you concerned that Jasper, I mean, played a little bit this week. You think those minutes go up. I think so, and I was yelling at my TV. Let's put Jasper in the game, see what he can do. You know he missed some shots. Defense can improve, but I think he needs more run to get him a chance. It flows out he's playing without Low. 00:42:00 Speaker 3: He has to play more. 00:42:01 Speaker 2: He'll play more. If Low ends up not being I think they'll have no choice but to play him more, and hopefully he'll get a chance to showcase what he can do. We'll take a break eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven hour twos KSR
